Portland General Electric is seeking a 4.8% rate hike, set to take effect July 1, 2027, after regulators approved a nearly 29% jump for data centers last month to shield residential bills. This follows recent steep increases — including an 18% hike last year — as PGE argues the boost will help fund growth without burdening everyday families. To soften future hikes, PGE proposes capping base rate increases in 2028 and 2029, tying them to inflation.
