- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Ben and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with iHeartRadio.
- 0:05Speaker 2: This is Almost Famous podcast. We're still in Carmel. We
- 0:08Speaker 2: have the wonderful beautiful Kathy with us. Kathy, you've promised
- 0:12Speaker 2: us that there's nothing.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Off limits here.
- 0:13Speaker 4: Nothing off limits?
- 0:15Speaker 3: My goodness. Well that you said.
- 0:17Speaker 2: The only thing that was off limits is if I
- 0:19Speaker 2: asked you when the last time you had sex was
- 0:22Speaker 2: and the.
- 0:23Speaker 4: Last time I had sex was? What day is it?
- 0:26Speaker 3: This is Thursday?
- 0:29Speaker 4: It doesn't matter, it was before Thursday.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Perfect, Kathy. I own to dive in, start hot, will
- 0:36Speaker 2: end wherever we want. But little birdies around the world
- 0:41Speaker 2: tell me that there is some drama within the Golden
- 0:44Speaker 2: Bachelor world right now?
- 0:47Speaker 4: Really tell me more.
- 0:49Speaker 2: Well, Twitter is firing up and your name's a part
- 0:51Speaker 2: of it. Twitter you mean X yeah X sorry. Wow
- 0:57Speaker 2: that was good, Kathy.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Jesus age me. My goodness, I keep up.
- 1:03Speaker 2: So my question because if you want to go to
- 1:05Speaker 2: the details or specifics, we can. If not, no problem.
- 1:08Speaker 2: My question is is there behind the scenes drama post show?
- 1:15Speaker 2: Every season has it? People come off the show, they're
- 1:17Speaker 2: best friends and then over time things start to like
- 1:22Speaker 2: fall apart.
- 1:23Speaker 3: It happens every year.
- 1:25Speaker 4: So you know, we're we were a group of fearless
- 1:32Speaker 4: women who took this on and I think, but the
- 1:36Speaker 4: fact remains where all women and as time goes on,
- 1:42Speaker 4: you get to know people better, and I think that's
- 1:45Speaker 4: just a natural part of life. But I can honestly
- 1:49Speaker 4: say I am friends with everybody on the show. If
- 1:54Speaker 4: there's somebody particular that you're asking me about, I think
- 2:00Speaker 4: that natural selection takes over. I am extremely close with
- 2:05Speaker 4: Susan and Nancy and a bunch of us are getting
- 2:10Speaker 4: together in a few weeks in DC and Philly and
- 2:16Speaker 4: we're gonna have a great time. Nancy, Susan and I
- 2:18Speaker 4: just got back from Saint Martin and had a great time.
- 2:21Speaker 4: Oh no, yeah, I might say that we did not
- 2:24Speaker 4: leave that island in one piece. Yeah, but we had
- 2:26Speaker 4: a great time. So you know, I think, like any
- 2:30Speaker 4: other season, when you have a bunch of women who
- 2:33Speaker 4: are trying to date one man, things happen and people
- 2:39Speaker 4: aren't necessarily themselves. That's life, you know, it just it
- 2:44Speaker 4: goes on. So teach me something then, Okay, I love
- 2:47Speaker 4: to teach, So I'm an next teacher.
- 2:50Speaker 2: You're you're coming off the season, there's obviously people now
- 2:53Speaker 2: that see your friendships with others. There's a big group
- 2:58Speaker 2: of women, there's got to be a little jealousy if
- 3:00Speaker 2: there's not. If jealousy is not the right word, maybe
- 3:02Speaker 2: it's envy. Maybe it's like, hey, I wish I was involved.
- 3:06Speaker 4: But isn't that I think that's a natural emotion. I
- 3:09Speaker 4: think that happens whether you're seven, seventeen, seventy. I think
- 3:16Speaker 4: just the natural order of life. I've been. I am
- 3:21Speaker 4: extremely grateful. I've had some incredible opportunities, and I understand
- 3:27Speaker 4: that other people, you know, maybe haven't had those opportunities.
- 3:33Speaker 4: I think that that's normal, and I'm sorry if people
- 3:39Speaker 4: feel that way, but I have to be honest for me.
- 3:43Speaker 4: As grateful as I am for every opportunity, I'm also
- 3:46Speaker 4: really happy when I hear that other women from our
- 3:50Speaker 4: season have opportunities, and.
- 3:53Speaker 3: So you don't.
- 3:56Speaker 2: Okay, So are you carrying the burden when you get
- 3:59Speaker 2: asked to do something and you know that somebody else
- 4:01Speaker 2: maybe is going to be a little hurt that they
- 4:02Speaker 2: didn't get asked. Are you carrying that burden with you
- 4:05Speaker 2: or are you saying no, this is just something I
- 4:07Speaker 2: want to do because this is a great thing.
- 4:10Speaker 4: I think it's a combination. I am grateful and excited
- 4:15Speaker 4: for the opportunity, but I'm also an empathetic that you know,
- 4:20Speaker 4: so and so might feel badly that she didn't get
- 4:23Speaker 4: the opportunity to do it. But honestly, that can't stop
- 4:29Speaker 4: me from doing what I'm doing. I never thought when
- 4:35Speaker 4: I signed up for this, I really thought I was
- 4:40Speaker 4: going on a show to find love, and I hoped
- 4:42Speaker 4: I did. I didn't, But I've made so many great
- 4:45Speaker 4: friendships and I've had so many great opportunities, and I
- 4:49Speaker 4: think it comes down to who you are as a
- 4:52Speaker 4: person and what opportunities come your way. Yeah, I really
- 4:58Speaker 4: believe that.
- 5:00Speaker 2: So one of the best things about being post show
- 5:04Speaker 2: and being able to do this show for years now
- 5:08Speaker 2: is getting the full story. Because I've always said and
- 5:15Speaker 2: I stand by this still. People have gotten bad at its,
- 5:18Speaker 2: but it's not it's not that common. Like people that
- 5:22Speaker 2: become the villain or people that are really mean to others,
- 5:25Speaker 2: they're typically pretty like in my experience of being on
- 5:27Speaker 2: the show, they are typically pretty mean to us, and
- 5:30Speaker 2: they should.
- 5:31Speaker 4: Are you saying that I'm mean?
- 5:32Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, no, not at all. But then there's moments.
- 5:37Speaker 4: Yeah, sure, you're not saying that.
- 5:38Speaker 3: No, okay, just wait, just checking. There's moments on the
- 5:42Speaker 3: show that.
- 5:45Speaker 2: We see and because of the lack of drama surrounding it,
- 5:49Speaker 2: they become dramatic on the show because they stand out
- 5:53Speaker 2: like there's very you know, there's there's moments where you're like,
- 5:56Speaker 2: they just they need a little drama.
- 5:59Speaker 3: They pull from it.
- 6:00Speaker 2: So you were involved in the only drama of the
- 6:03Speaker 2: season really with Teresa, who ends up winning. I know
- 6:06Speaker 2: there's more of a story there, Like I know that
- 6:09Speaker 2: what we saw on television for those episodes or the episode,
- 6:13Speaker 2: it was not as dramatic I'm assuming in real life.
- 6:18Speaker 2: So the best of your ability, because it has been
- 6:20Speaker 2: a few months and I forget everything past the day before,
- 6:25Speaker 2: how did that actually play out in real time? Like
- 6:27Speaker 2: what was that actually feeling like in real time?
- 6:30Speaker 4: So it was so much smaller than it really was.
- 6:36Speaker 4: You know, I'm while I live in Austin, I am
- 6:39Speaker 4: from Boston. I live in rhyming cities and where I
- 6:43Speaker 4: grew up. We just call it like it is. And
- 6:46Speaker 4: so there were a lot of women on the show.
- 6:49Speaker 4: Remember that this all happened early in the show, very
- 6:52Speaker 4: early very early, and there were a lot of women
- 6:54Speaker 4: sitting around saying, Wow, we haven't gotten a chance to
- 6:58Speaker 4: speak to Gary yet. And you know, I took it
- 7:01Speaker 4: because I'm a girl scout. I said, well, you know,
- 7:04Speaker 4: I'll talk to her. I'll say something, never thinking that
- 7:08Speaker 4: it was going to turn into this huge thing on TV.
- 7:12Speaker 4: But Teresa is a lovely person. We're gonna spend She's
- 7:17Speaker 4: one of the people that's coming to Philly. She's a
- 7:20Speaker 4: lovely person. All of us only wish Gary and Teresa
- 7:25Speaker 4: the best, including me. So I think that, you know,
- 7:30Speaker 4: if you have to have drama on the show, you
- 7:32Speaker 4: have to have drama. But I think I think people
- 7:39Speaker 4: will make of it what they want to make of it.
- 7:42Speaker 4: And I think I walk away with my head high
- 7:45Speaker 4: knowing I'm a good person and a nice person, and
- 7:48Speaker 4: you know, that's just part of the show. That's what
- 7:51Speaker 4: you sign up for.
- 7:52Speaker 3: Sure. In real time, you kind of fell in the
- 8:03Speaker 3: sword to give, like.
- 8:05Speaker 2: To a approach her, while everybody else is kind of like, hey,
- 8:09Speaker 2: I wish I was having time with Gary or I
- 8:12Speaker 2: wish Teresa would have. You were like, I'll just do
- 8:14Speaker 2: it forebrity, so that this isn't going on.
- 8:16Speaker 3: Behind your back.
- 8:16Speaker 4: Yeah, but not in a mean way.
- 8:18Speaker 2: No, but you were just like, hey, instead of talking
- 8:20Speaker 2: about this in a circle, right, we can talk to
- 8:23Speaker 2: her about it, like I feel good just saying, hey,
- 8:25Speaker 2: Teresa going on.
- 8:26Speaker 4: And it was nothing more than that. Yeah, and that's why,
- 8:29Speaker 4: you know, Can I jump ahead to Joeys season here? Sure,
- 8:34Speaker 4: let's just as I've said, Joey would be my son
- 8:37Speaker 4: in law my daughter were not married. He's a great guy,
- 8:40Speaker 4: but his Maria. I felt for her because I didn't
- 8:45Speaker 4: think she was doing anything badly, you know, saying anything
- 8:50Speaker 4: out of She may have chosen a wrong word here
- 8:53Speaker 4: or there, but she really was being supportive of Madina.
- 8:58Speaker 4: So Medina was saying that she was the oldest woman
- 9:02Speaker 4: on the show, and I really felt like Maria was
- 9:06Speaker 4: just trying to advocate for her and say, hey, it's okay.
- 9:11Speaker 4: You know, he's a great guy. Your age doesn't matter.
- 9:14Speaker 4: But it's sort of got turned around, and you know,
- 9:17Speaker 4: I thought it was much ado about nothing to quote Shakespeare. Yeah,
- 9:21Speaker 4: and you know, I sort of felt for her because
- 9:27Speaker 4: she was painted a villain where she really I mean,
- 9:30Speaker 4: she may be a villain, but in that instance she
- 9:33Speaker 4: was not.
- 9:33Speaker 2: It happens when I think the marker for me and
- 9:37Speaker 2: being a fan of the show now, I think it
- 9:39Speaker 2: happens to me, and it happened in your situation. When
- 9:41Speaker 2: there's a lack of drama you have, they find the
- 9:45Speaker 2: little bitsy things and it gets pulled out. Now, the
- 9:48Speaker 2: problem with this is sometimes that little drama can turn
- 9:52Speaker 2: into big drama because it kind of like is a
- 9:54Speaker 2: tornado effect that sucks up everybody. Then everybody's like, hey, yeah,
- 9:59Speaker 2: that wasn't right. I'm choosing sides here. I'm hoping in
- 10:03Speaker 2: this season we were just talking about at dinner, right,
- 10:07Speaker 2: I think the show for years went down a path
- 10:09Speaker 2: of drama and it had to kind of evolve and
- 10:12Speaker 2: how much drama was existing and more drama and more
- 10:14Speaker 2: drama and more drama. And I think it worked for
- 10:18Speaker 2: many years. Obviously, the show's been around a while. I
- 10:20Speaker 2: personally feel like it ran its course and now, and
- 10:23Speaker 2: especially with your season of the Golden it turned into
- 10:26Speaker 2: more of a love story.
- 10:27Speaker 3: Yeah, and I think that's what people want.
- 10:30Speaker 4: Ben, I was just going to say, I think that's
- 10:32Speaker 4: what people want. They're looking you know, we've got a
- 10:35Speaker 4: tough world right now, and people are looking for painted
- 10:41Speaker 4: a happy story, painted an escape from everyday life. They're looking.
- 10:47Speaker 4: Everyone wants to believe in love. I still believe in love.
- 10:50Speaker 4: So you know, the drama is or it isn't what
- 10:56Speaker 4: really goes on. But I think people want to believe
- 11:02Speaker 4: that love is out there and that these women and
- 11:06Speaker 4: these men can come together and find love. And who
- 11:11Speaker 4: doesn't want to believe in love? So you know, I don't.
- 11:14Speaker 4: I think that if there's drama, there's drama. But I
- 11:18Speaker 4: also think that if it's not there, let's just celebrate love.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Well, I think in within your situation and with.
- 11:28Speaker 2: You and the women, and I've been able to be
- 11:30Speaker 2: around you all a couple of times. Now there's something
- 11:34Speaker 2: to learn from you all because you have came out
- 11:36Speaker 2: of this and said, hey, really happy for Teresa and Gary,
- 11:38Speaker 2: like we want to see them thrive. We went to
- 11:39Speaker 2: the wedding, you know, you had a huge role in
- 11:41Speaker 2: the wedding. Yeah, but also, we're going to be friends
- 11:45Speaker 2: after this. We're gonna say we're gonna go on vacations together,
- 11:47Speaker 2: We're going to see each other. Because for me, that's
- 11:51Speaker 2: as much of a cool part of the show is
- 11:53Speaker 2: when you see that coming back together.
- 11:55Speaker 4: Best part of the show, Ben is, let's just look
- 11:59Speaker 4: at this, you know, really simplistically, you had in our
- 12:02Speaker 4: case twenty two women and one man. If my math
- 12:06Speaker 4: serves me right, unless we're talking polygamy, only one woman's
- 12:11Speaker 4: walking away with the guy, and as it should be.
- 12:14Speaker 4: But we gained so much more great friendships and understanding
- 12:19Speaker 4: of people's life story. And for me, as we spoke
- 12:24Speaker 4: at dinner, I think for me, the biggest joy for
- 12:28Speaker 4: me not the friendships are amazing, but the biggest joy
- 12:33Speaker 4: is people stopping me and saying, you know, my husband
- 12:38Speaker 4: passed away a year ago or whatever the story is,
- 12:43Speaker 4: and we sit and you made us laugh. You gave
- 12:47Speaker 4: us hope for the future. And that is the message
- 12:51Speaker 4: that the rest of it doesn't matter. The rest of
- 12:55Speaker 4: it doesn't matter. If people see that their life isn't
- 12:59Speaker 4: over it sixty or sixty five or seventy, that they
- 13:04Speaker 4: have things to look forward to. I celebrate that as
- 13:07Speaker 4: a huge success for this franchise.
- 13:10Speaker 3: Well, there was a segment of The.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Golden that I was on that never got aired, and
- 13:17Speaker 2: it was Gary and I went to a bunch of
- 13:19Speaker 2: watch parties around La and one of the watch parties
- 13:23Speaker 2: stands out to me where a lady in her seventies
- 13:27Speaker 2: came up and said her husband had just passed two
- 13:31Speaker 2: years ago and she was kind of lost. The world
- 13:34Speaker 2: was spinning around her. She didn't where to turn, and
- 13:36Speaker 2: she said watching the Golden gave her hope, and she
- 13:39Speaker 2: started crying shed Watching the show gave her hope because
- 13:43Speaker 2: she feels like she could relate. And I think that's
- 13:45Speaker 2: from one of the best things that the show did
- 13:48Speaker 2: for people, gave people hope. We just walked out of
- 13:50Speaker 2: the restaurant together and there was a lady and her
- 13:52Speaker 2: husband that came out to you and they gave you
- 13:54Speaker 2: like a little like a fist pump, like well done.
- 13:56Speaker 3: You know you're doing it.
- 13:58Speaker 2: What does that feel like to you to be somebody
- 14:00Speaker 2: that was had a piece, a large piece in building
- 14:04Speaker 2: this new thing that is giving people around the US hope.
- 14:10Speaker 4: Honestly, I didn't expect, as most people know. Now. You know,
- 14:15Speaker 4: my husband passed away. It's coming up on five years
- 14:17Speaker 4: ago and he died by suicide. And I never thought
- 14:26Speaker 4: that my life would be where it is. But to me,
- 14:30Speaker 4: the biggest gift that this show has given to me
- 14:35Speaker 4: is the gift I've given to other people that they
- 14:39Speaker 4: have hope in their lives and they don't see their
- 14:41Speaker 4: lives as they don't feel invisible anymore. They feel like
- 14:45Speaker 4: they have life to live. And to me, I didn't
- 14:49Speaker 4: expect that. I didn't know that that was something that
- 14:54Speaker 4: I would get from the show. But to me, that
- 14:57Speaker 4: is the biggest gift that this show has given to me,
- 15:02Speaker 4: the other women and to women and men out there
- 15:06Speaker 4: and you, I don't know that. I don't know that
- 15:11Speaker 4: any other show has done that, not that I can
- 15:15Speaker 4: think it. And to me that that's life changing, that
- 15:19Speaker 4: it's life changing for so many people. It gives me
- 15:22Speaker 4: great joy. It's worth all of it. It's worth all
- 15:25Speaker 4: of it.
- 15:25Speaker 2: So when you went onto the show then, as you're saying,
- 15:29Speaker 2: your husband passed away five years ago, yeah, you went
- 15:32Speaker 2: on the show.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Nobody really knew it was going to be right. He
- 15:35Speaker 3: took a risk.
- 15:37Speaker 2: When you walked into the mansion, were you living in
- 15:41Speaker 2: a season of life where you felt like you had hope?
- 15:44Speaker 2: Or this show help you in return?
- 15:46Speaker 4: Also, I mean I was really busy watching Teresa in
- 15:51Speaker 4: a slip and Leslie with a wig on on a walker,
- 15:55Speaker 4: so you know, I was trying to focus on all
- 15:57Speaker 4: that and like, am I in the wrong place? But
- 16:00Speaker 4: truly I walked in there thinking, you know what I
- 16:06Speaker 4: deserve love, I deserve a second chance. This is the
- 16:09Speaker 4: last chapter of my life. It's going to be a
- 16:11Speaker 4: really long chapter, by.
- 16:12Speaker 2: The way, but I was a very busy chapterwhere very busy.
- 16:17Speaker 4: But I walked in there thinking why not me, and
- 16:22Speaker 4: never thinking that it would turn out the way it did.
- 16:26Speaker 4: And I think if you asked most of the women
- 16:29Speaker 4: of the twenty two women, I think they would say
- 16:32Speaker 4: the same thing that we didn't know. The hearing all
- 16:37Speaker 4: of our stories and building the relationships and supporting each
- 16:42Speaker 4: other through it, that to me was life changing.
- 16:54Speaker 5: Hey, folks, Amy and TJ. Here, Matt James of Bachelor
- 16:58Speaker 5: Nation is our guest on the next episode of the
- 17:00Speaker 5: Amy and TJ podcast.
- 17:01Speaker 1: That's right, everybody wants to know if and when he
- 17:04Speaker 1: and Rachel will finally get married. Well, he's going to
- 17:06Speaker 1: fill us in on the destination wedding.
- 17:09Speaker 5: Also, he'll talk about his heartbreak over a fellow Bachelor
- 17:13Speaker 5: Nation alum. Also, I'll talk about his fantasy relationship with
- 17:16Speaker 5: Chris Harrison and would you believe this dude tried to
- 17:18Speaker 5: blame me and Roeboch for missing a very important weekend
- 17:22Speaker 5: with Rachel.
- 17:22Speaker 3: Yeah, Rachel, it wasn't us.
- 17:23Speaker 1: We want to make sure you know that this is
- 17:25Speaker 1: a rare and it's an extensive conversation with Matt James
- 17:28Speaker 1: February eighth, on Amy and TJ everywhere you get your podcasts.
- 17:35Speaker 3: You know, my story from the show is this.
- 17:37Speaker 2: I went on to it with a very little confidence,
- 17:40Speaker 2: feeling very much like an outsider. This show didn't really
- 17:44Speaker 2: help that because I walked into a room full of
- 17:46Speaker 2: like professional athletes and doctors and felt even more pushed aside.
- 17:52Speaker 2: And the show gave me a lot of confidence. It
- 17:54Speaker 2: allowed me to open up, allowed me to feel desirable,
- 17:57Speaker 2: made me allow me to speak some truth that I
- 18:01Speaker 2: never had spoken to myself before.
- 18:03Speaker 3: For you, when you.
- 18:06Speaker 2: Signed up, or when I guess maybe in general, with
- 18:08Speaker 2: a lot of the women that were on your season,
- 18:09Speaker 2: did you feel like there was like a lack of
- 18:12Speaker 2: hope or did all these women come in saying, no,
- 18:14Speaker 2: we're gonna this is gonna be good no matter what.
- 18:18Speaker 4: I don't know what they were thinking, but what I
- 18:20Speaker 4: was thinking was online dating hadn't worked, you know, why not?
- 18:25Speaker 4: It would be an adventure, but I got I have
- 18:28Speaker 4: to be honest. When I walked in there and saw
- 18:31Speaker 4: half of those women around sixty years of age, I thought,
- 18:35Speaker 4: I'm screwed. I mean, you know, that's hard to compete
- 18:40Speaker 4: with with that age group. But I think what I
- 18:45Speaker 4: think the difference between the older crowd and the younger
- 18:52Speaker 4: Bachelor and batsorettes is that we've lived a full life.
- 18:57Speaker 4: And I am not going to hang my head at
- 19:00Speaker 4: on you know, I'm not going to come crying. I
- 19:03Speaker 4: didn't get a one on one. He doesn't really like
- 19:07Speaker 4: we have lived so much of life that were we
- 19:14Speaker 4: come into with open hearts, but not being chosen we don't.
- 19:21Speaker 4: I didn't judge myself by not being chosen by Gary.
- 19:24Speaker 4: He's a great guy. He wasn't my guy. There's nothing
- 19:28Speaker 4: more or less to it than that, and truly we
- 19:31Speaker 4: all wished him and and Theresa a boatload of happiness.
- 19:36Speaker 4: I think he made the right choice. Yeah, there was
- 19:38Speaker 4: no Really, we're being honest. Gary, if you're listening, you
- 19:44Speaker 4: could have had me.
- 19:45Speaker 2: Yeah, could have could A really final question for you.
- 19:50Speaker 2: It's a very broad question. But looking back now in
- 19:57Speaker 2: this season and knowing what it meant for so many
- 19:59Speaker 2: who watched and so many who participated in for Gary
- 20:02Speaker 2: and Teresa, who then ended up together. If you're an
- 20:07Speaker 2: executive producer on the show, was there anything Is there
- 20:10Speaker 2: anything you would have changed? Or as they looked towards
- 20:13Speaker 2: the new seasons coming ahead, is there anything that you
- 20:15Speaker 2: wish they added more of or less of?
- 20:19Speaker 4: So we were Trailblazers and it was a truncated season.
- 20:25Speaker 4: I think it's a combination of wanting people to want
- 20:29Speaker 4: more so you can only have it so long. But
- 20:32Speaker 4: at the same time, I almost feel like there wasn't
- 20:36Speaker 4: enough time to tell our stories and there weren't enough
- 20:41Speaker 4: one on one date. I mean, it was very in
- 20:44Speaker 4: this case Gary. It was so clear from the beginning
- 20:47Speaker 4: that Gary was so attracted to Teresa. We all saw it,
- 20:51Speaker 4: we all felt it, you know, and that's great. But
- 20:54Speaker 4: I wish that there had been more opportunity for more
- 20:58Speaker 4: interactions with us and Gary. And but that's just a
- 21:05Speaker 4: time thing, you know. It's I think it was the
- 21:10Speaker 4: first run, and I think they'll make some changes. I
- 21:13Speaker 4: mean I really wanted a helicopter ride. Yeah, I didn't
- 21:16Speaker 4: get it. I mean I wanted the diamond earrings that
- 21:19Speaker 4: Ellen got, I didn't get them. I wanted the pink
- 21:22Speaker 4: quarts that Susan got, I didn't get it. I left
- 21:25Speaker 4: with nothing except a rose that I a rubber flower
- 21:30Speaker 4: that I stole from the bar. It is sitting in
- 21:32Speaker 4: my kitchen.
- 21:33Speaker 3: And a live television hosting gig okay, and there.
- 21:35Speaker 4: Was that which I would do that again in a heartbeat.
- 21:39Speaker 4: That was amazing.
- 21:40Speaker 3: I do think there's be some changes moving forward. I
- 21:43Speaker 3: think it's great.
- 21:43Speaker 2: I think they'll get more time on air, which is
- 21:46Speaker 2: going to be helpful. I think they'll get more time.
- 21:49Speaker 4: You know what about ages? Do you? What do you
- 21:51Speaker 4: think about the ages?
- 21:52Speaker 3: I think it was great, So.
- 21:55Speaker 4: I will tell you many of the women think that
- 21:58Speaker 4: Golden means sixty five and over.
- 22:00Speaker 3: Okay, so sixty was too young?
- 22:03Speaker 4: Well, from where I sit, sixty five was too young, okay.
- 22:08Speaker 2: But I could I could go like I think, I
- 22:10Speaker 2: look at it as like you you, sixty five would
- 22:14Speaker 2: be great, like if sixty five and over. I think
- 22:16Speaker 2: the problem is the casting of it. I think it's
- 22:18Speaker 2: gonna be hard to get people women. I don't think
- 22:20Speaker 2: no women men. I think it's gonna be really hard
- 22:22Speaker 2: from the cast for men. I don't know how many
- 22:25Speaker 2: men will sign up at sixty five years.
- 22:27Speaker 4: I actually agree with you. I think that's a problem.
- 22:29Speaker 4: A lot of people have asked me, Kathy, would you
- 22:32Speaker 4: be the Golden Bachelorette? And I say it jokingly, but
- 22:35Speaker 4: I actually mean it. I think it would be hard
- 22:38Speaker 4: to find. And I'm seventy. Yeah, I think it would
- 22:41Speaker 4: be hard to find twenty two guys who could keep
- 22:43Speaker 4: up with me. So I mean it, So.
- 22:45Speaker 3: I believe it. I have no doubt.
- 22:47Speaker 4: So you know, I think that that would be tough.
- 22:50Speaker 4: So I understand the casting issues, but there have to
- 22:55Speaker 4: be men out there who are looking for love an adventure,
- 23:01Speaker 4: and that's sort of what this is about. It's about
- 23:04Speaker 4: finding love but putting yourself in a situation that maybe
- 23:08Speaker 4: makes you a little uncomfortable, but the rewards are so
- 23:12Speaker 4: worth it.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Well, I think also the side is the other side
- 23:15Speaker 2: of that too, is you want to find men who
- 23:18Speaker 2: are vulnerable enough at sixty five to share their stories, because,
- 23:23Speaker 2: as you said earlier, you've lived a lot of life.
- 23:26Speaker 2: You have a lot of stories to share. You have
- 23:28Speaker 2: a lot of stories that would relate with others, that
- 23:30Speaker 2: would give hope to others. I think it will be
- 23:33Speaker 2: hard to find men who are willing to share their
- 23:36Speaker 2: stories in a way like you all did that would
- 23:39Speaker 2: bring people into it.
- 23:40Speaker 4: But don't you think that's sort of a cultural thing
- 23:42Speaker 4: that men struggle to open their hearts and their mouths
- 23:46Speaker 4: to talk about what they're really their emotions are.
- 23:48Speaker 2: I agree with you, But I think that's one of
- 23:50Speaker 2: the hardest things. Is then who are you going to
- 23:52Speaker 2: find that would break the barriers? And you all did.
- 23:55Speaker 2: You shared your stories, and you shared your stories through tears,
- 23:58Speaker 2: you shared your stories through.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Through a smile.
- 24:00Speaker 2: You shared your stories with the others so they felt
- 24:02Speaker 2: less alone, and that was a really beautiful thing from
- 24:06Speaker 2: the show. But I think moving forward, one of the
- 24:09Speaker 2: dynamics it's going to be very interesting, and I would
- 24:12Speaker 2: believe that they could find the people that could pull
- 24:14Speaker 2: it off. Will be Are they able to find enough
- 24:17Speaker 2: men who could do the same thing like you all
- 24:19Speaker 2: did and keep this momentum going.
- 24:21Speaker 4: I don't disagree with that, And in fact, as much
- 24:23Speaker 4: as I hate to say this, in some ways, I
- 24:26Speaker 4: think it would be great to have another Golden Bachelor, Yeah,
- 24:31Speaker 4: just to reinforce the message that because I think men
- 24:37Speaker 4: and women took the message of hope it wasn't just women.
- 24:42Speaker 4: And besides that, all these guys that are replying are
- 24:46Speaker 4: going to slide into my DMS anyway.
- 24:48Speaker 3: Yeah, so you know, the more the merrier.
- 24:50Speaker 4: It's going to really shorten that list.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Yeah, you're going to be very busy.
- 24:54Speaker 4: Very busy, My goodness. When I'm not holding a microphone
- 24:56Speaker 4: in my hand doing something else, I'm going to be
- 24:58Speaker 4: you know, going to.
- 24:59Speaker 3: Travel the same. You're going to be very busy day.
- 25:02Speaker 4: Can I just tell you? Yeah, Saint Martin, I'm not
- 25:06Speaker 4: sure will ever be the same after Susan, Nancy and
- 25:08Speaker 4: I were there.
- 25:09Speaker 2: Give me one story as we close up from Saint
- 25:11Speaker 2: Martin that can be rated anything from G to.
- 25:17Speaker 3: X that you could share on air.
- 25:25Speaker 4: Okay, let me ask Kathy may be struggling here for
- 25:31Speaker 4: let me just say Susan, Nancy and I on the beach.
- 25:38Speaker 4: First of all, Susan had trouble keeping her bathing suit
- 25:40Speaker 4: top on.
- 25:41Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, she just happens in St. Martin.
- 25:44Speaker 4: I've been not for me, it doesn't trust me. I
- 25:47Speaker 4: wore a one piece d have to applied it off
- 25:49Speaker 4: with a hammer nails, so that was not coming off.
- 25:52Speaker 4: But the thing that happened in Saint Martin that actually
- 25:56Speaker 4: blew my mind. People came up to us speaking different
- 26:00Speaker 4: languages literally Canadians who say a lot a a lot
- 26:05Speaker 4: but speak English, French, Italians saying how much they loved us.
- 26:10Speaker 3: It was crazy, were the tops on at this point?
- 26:14Speaker 4: Susans wasn't yeah, mine was.
- 26:16Speaker 3: Let me assure you not shocked. I've been around her
- 26:18Speaker 3: enough now I'm not shocked.
- 26:19Speaker 4: I mean, Susans like, why not tan every part of
- 26:22Speaker 4: your body that you can? And I'm like, how many
- 26:24Speaker 4: reasons do you want? But that we met so many
- 26:31Speaker 4: great people. We bought friendship bracelets while we were there, yea.
- 26:35Speaker 4: And the guy at the jewelry store, he just took
- 26:39Speaker 4: an immediate liking to us. He kept filling our glasses
- 26:41Speaker 4: with champagne. The more we drank, the cheaper the bracelets became.
- 26:45Speaker 4: It was perfect. And then he took us out for
- 26:47Speaker 4: dinner at this incredible restaurant that's booked forever, and this
- 26:53Speaker 4: guy walks in and they are falling all over him,
- 26:58Speaker 4: and he it was I mean, the guy says, you're
- 27:01Speaker 4: family now, and of course Susan and I were saying,
- 27:05Speaker 4: are you available?
- 27:06Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 27:06Speaker 4: Wee's your father.
- 27:08Speaker 2: My goodness, okay, didn't was there any like anybody make
- 27:14Speaker 2: have any kissing on this like?
- 27:15Speaker 3: There was there any guys in the picture on this trip?
- 27:19Speaker 4: I gotta say no, there weren't. Because the three of
- 27:25Speaker 4: us together we're sort of like a tornado going through
- 27:28Speaker 4: the island and a lot of people recognize us, and
- 27:32Speaker 4: again we're like, you, guys, you just made us feel great.
- 27:36Speaker 4: And literally, Susan and I and Nancy, we'd say, so
- 27:39Speaker 4: is your uncle, here? Is your father here? Do you
- 27:41Speaker 4: know any single? Because that's what everyone keeps saying. Put
- 27:44Speaker 4: it out there that you're single.
- 27:45Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean we can be My advice for people.
- 27:48Speaker 4: Still, we tattooed the island we are single.
- 27:52Speaker 3: The world's not ready for these golden ladies.
- 27:56Speaker 4: But you know what, the world is ready because we
- 27:59Speaker 4: are re defining what it means to be golden. It
- 28:03Speaker 4: does not mean sitting in a rocking chair with an
- 28:07Speaker 4: afghan over your shoulders. Knit one pearl one, get up
- 28:11Speaker 4: off the sofa, find something to do that you love,
- 28:14Speaker 4: and just watch how your life changes.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Kathy, thanks for sitting down with us today.
- 28:20Speaker 4: You're so welcome.
