- 0:29Good morning from inside the chicken.
- 0:30A coupe, just doing a little head check, making sure
- 0:33everybody's good before they go off for their day.
- 0:35And apparently, our girl Wanda wants to say hello to everybody
- 0:39because she's got a lot to say going on.
- 0:41So today we're going to talk about why do most of us,
- 0:46believe, we fail at managing our emotions.
- 0:49So first of all emotions are like herding cats.
- 0:51I want to be very clear about this.
- 0:53Emotions are like herding cats. They are all over the place, and
- 0:57you've heard me say this before on other podcasts, but, you
- 1:00know, it's Projected that we have between 60 to 80 thousand
- 1:03thoughts a day, some people project up to 100,000 thoughts
- 1:06per day and those hundred thousand thoughts or up to
- 1:10100,000 thoughts. We have two thirds of them
- 1:14repeated than the day before. It's no accident that they're
- 1:17hard to manage. There's a lot going on, not to
- 1:20mention that everybody in the world is vying for your
- 1:23attention, trying to get you to buy this.
- 1:25Pay attention to this. Look at me, influencers are
- 1:28everywhere. Everybody's Asking for your
- 1:31family, everybody's trying to capture a moment of your time to
- 1:35get your attention. And you know, here we are trying
- 1:40to manage ourselves and trying to stay calm with all of our
- 1:44buttons with all of our beliefs, with all the things that we have
- 1:46adopted from other people. We all have these issues and
- 1:50Lord knows that it's completely complex, to be able to manage
- 1:55yourself in all this chaos, which is why it's so important
- 1:59to Pause, you know, if any of you have read my book who's
- 2:04driving your bus, that there is a very distinct line in there
- 2:08where we say, you have to stop reflect choose redirect.
- 2:13So when that stopped comes up, you have to ask yourself, you
- 2:16reflecting. Where am I right now?
- 2:18Where am I? What am I giving my attention
- 2:19to? What is the buttons that's being
- 2:21pushy? What is the emotion?
- 2:22I'm in. Because if you can't figure out
- 2:25where you currently are, it's impossible to figure out where
- 2:28you want to go next. So it's just like, being in the
- 2:30car. And being lost.
- 2:31If I called one of you, and I said, Hey, listen, I'm trying to
- 2:33get to your house and I'm lost you'd say, well, where are you?
- 2:36And if I said to you, I don't know you'd say, well, I can't
- 2:39help you unless I know where you are.
- 2:42And so just like in a coaching session with someone calls and
- 2:46they say to me, I'm so upset, I have this going on.
- 2:48Are this going on? I the very first thing that I
- 2:50always say to them is. Okay, what's the main thought
- 2:53going on in your head? What's the main focus going on
- 2:55your head? And if I can mail down, what
- 2:58that mean focus is that I can help them.
- 3:00Sure their way out of it. So today I want to give you guys
- 3:04the same pattern because nothing is more important than that.
- 3:07Stop and reflect and then choosing and redirecting.
- 3:10Yes. But the first part of it is so
- 3:12critical. Stop just stop yourself from
- 3:15from the constant chatter of saying, oh my God, I'm all over
- 3:19the place because we I can't tell you how many times I hear
- 3:21people say that I'm all over the place and I know there are times
- 3:25when I get really excited about things perfect example.
- 3:27The other day, I was in the garden center and I had this I
- 3:32would call it an experience with this girl that work there
- 3:34because she was helping me with a problem.
- 3:36And she said something that I heard hadn't heard that I could
- 3:39have certain plants that I had never been able thought.
- 3:44I was able to have here in the Heat and she said no as long as
- 3:47you do them like this and this and this you can have them and I
- 3:50was from that moment forward. My head was spinning because all
- 3:54these ideas were running in, I was excited and I was anxious
- 3:57that I wanted to get the ones that were on the floor before
- 3:59someone else got them. With so many different things
- 4:01happening in my head all at once, and I had legitimately
- 4:05could not get control of it. So I'm telling you even when we
- 4:08think, we know all this stuff, we're still going to have these
- 4:11things happen. My husband walked over, and he
- 4:12looked at me, he's like, you're all over the place.
- 4:14I'm like, yeah, I am really, I am so, it is not unusual to have
- 4:19that happen. It common, it's really really
- 4:22common but the trick the trick you have to nail down is hitting
- 4:27that pause button, hitting that stop button so that you can just
- 4:30get yourself centered. Take a deep breath.
- 4:33Where am I right now? Getting yourself the primary
- 4:38where you are in your head is the distinction and stop beating
- 4:44yourself up for thinking that you fail at this all the time
- 4:46because most of us most of us are very capable of doing this
- 4:51unless you have been diagnosed with something that tells you
- 4:54you have a disorder or an inability to manage this.
- 4:59The majority of Of us can manage this if we follow the rules.
- 5:04First of all, stop blaming yourself because the beatings
- 5:07will continue until morale and prove, never works.
- 5:10Ever Works ever Works. Doesn't get you where you want
- 5:13to go. So you have to pause or stop,
- 5:17whichever word works for you and then you say, okay what is my
- 5:21biggest outcome, right now? What is the thing that I want
- 5:24more than anything right now? What is the thing that I need to
- 5:27focus on more than anything right now?
- 5:30And then, Then do that, do that one thing?
- 5:34And then you can you can bring yourself back to you know, that
- 5:38Center of saying. Well why do, I think I fail at
- 5:40this all the time, you don't fail it at all the time.
- 5:43You may feel, sometimes we all do I do, but it's not all the
- 5:46time. It's incremental, it's moment,
- 5:49it's just in the moment but you can bring yourself back and you
- 5:52just have to allow yourself to space and the grace to say,
- 5:56yeah, okay, I had a hiccup, I didn't fail because if you don't
- 6:02give up, you don't fail. That's the rule.
- 6:04If you don't give up, you don't fail.
- 6:06If you keep resetting, keep trying again, you are going to
- 6:10get there. You're going to get to that
- 6:12point. If you keep working at it, if
- 6:14you keep asking better questions, if you keep hitting
- 6:17the pause button and you keep doing the right things, I
- 6:19promise you, you will get there. So, I hope hope you guys have a
- 6:22great day. I will see you tomorrow and work
- 6:25on this piece because it's critical to success.
- 6:29Have a great one. Bye.
