[upbeat music] Hey, everybody. Hey. It's Full Spectrum Cycling. It's Friday at 10:00 AM.
• 0:18
It's Tony Burger and JK. Hello, hello. Sven and stuff. Happy birthday, JK. Did I say it's 181 already? No, you did not. No, 181. Today is my 181st birthday. How do they do it? How do they keep doing it week after week?
• 0:35
You're so welcome. Just always coming in and doing a show and then- Walking away... just a couple of days later it appears magically on the interwebs. It's wild. I don't know how.
• 0:45
I think that's a lot of Sven's magic, but- Yeah. Happy birthday, Mr. JK President. [upbeat music] I don't know.
• 0:53
Half as, half of you half as well as I should like, unless like less than half of you as half as well as you deserve. Yeah. I'm feeling Bilboe. Somewhat like that would be said. Right. [laughs] Right on. Right on.
• 1:07
So it is, uh, it is, uh, officially JK's birthday. Hey. Yay. Yay. Clink. Clink, clink. Uh, just a solid eight hours till JK's birthday- Ding, ding, ding... bash over at the Uptowner. Yep.
• 1:19
See, that radio time's going pretty well today. Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha. What do you got on the...
• 1:24
So if, if somebody happened to be in town traveling through, like the guy that came from Oregon today and needed air in his tires, he was riding his bike. But he wasn't riding from Oregon, he was traveling to Oregon.
• 1:32
His car needed air in his tires, so he stopped by the shop today. But [sighs]
• 1:37
if one were gonna go to the show, if they were passing through town at the big Uptowner JK birthday party, what would one possibly see at said party? There will be good food and good cheer.
• 1:49
There will also be musical offerings by Mrs. Fun, Hawk as a Weapon, and Voot Warnings. This is like, this is good, this is a good lineup right there.
• 2:01
[laughs] And, them, them folks know how to make the music on them fiddly and drummy things. Yes. It should start about, what, 6:00 PM Central Standard Time. In the City of Milwaukee at the Uptowner of Bar. Yes.
• 2:14
I picked the absolute worst weekend to get stuck working. [laughs] You're not gonna be there for that either? Uh-uh. Yeah. What the hell? Friday night, Saturday, and potentially Sunday. Jesus Louise.
• 2:23
I'm gonna miss Daikaiju. You're not gonna miss Daikaiju. What time do you have to work till? Uh, 8:00. Uh, you're not gonna miss Daikaiju. I don't think they're going on till 11:00-ish. R- really?
• 2:33
At the X-Ray Arcade, folks. Oh. You might get there during- 10:00 maybe... during Devil's Teeth. I think Devil's Teeth- Oh, that would be good though... Devil's Teeth, I believe, would be the one right before.
• 2:42
Yeah, showtime was- Okay... originally 8:00, but then they stacked on, like, three openers. Okay. Yeah, it's like- Well, I'm gonna-... Robo Man or Dev- you know, Daikaiju- I might have to, I might have to drive...
• 2:50
Devil's Teeth. Well, yeah, if you know Cudahy, they do have that sort of can't go past, like, 11:00 or 11:30 or something. Right. Right. There's some sort of not
• 3:00
doing it all night long, so I would say they're gonna go on by 10:30. I'll be in touch. Sure. 10:00, 10:30. Not a- We'll, we'll be in communication.
• 3:09
We may be in communicado, 'cause if we do the planned thing from, like, noon till then, we're gonna probably be a little tired by [laughs] by that point or something.
• 3:19
Getting all the way over there too, especially on- Well, it's gonna be a challenge... bicycle. Yeah. I, I, I had just, I had been loving my Wednesday so much.
• 3:25
We might talk about that a little bit later, but I don't think I will ride it down there because it can't fit on the tray on the bus.
• 3:32
[laughs] In case, in case it's 11:30 at night and I'm 15 miles from home and don't really feel like totally rolling. That said, there is, like, three hours to get home. True. So- Very true. Yeah... you never know.
• 3:45
It's a fluid thing. There, yeah. It's a- There, there is- What is that round trip? It's further than you think. I think it's, from, from the shop it's, like, 13 miles. So from my house- Round trip?... it's, like, 15.
• 3:53
No, no. One way. One way. Yeah. [laughs] That's what I thought. Yeah. It's like- It's one of those where you get... [sighs] But you always wanna take a nicer way back, like through the park and stuff.
• 4:02
You're adding- Kinda... probably a little bit on it, but you're having a blast. Maybe. Maybe. But it- You gotta, you know... when, when once you hit, like, the Bay View proper- Right...
• 4:08
you're starting to feel a little better about yourself. The lily padding is much closer together in the Bay View proper. It's getting between the Cudahy and the Bay View. Maybe get to the Thirst on Howell.
• 4:16
Maybe Bay View and Cudahy. It's like- Maybe a little Thirst on Howell lily pad. Maybe a little Sabbatic lily pad. Maybe a- Ah. Ah. Publer. You guys planning on- Yeah... hitting Pokerat? That is also on the agenda- Yes...
• 4:29
'cause it's earlier- Because-... in the day. Yeah. It's earlier in the day, and then Tonic Bellends are playing. Mm. Owen, he's in a band. He's in a band. Oh, my name's Owen. And Bijou. In a band. In a band.
• 4:40
So that's their outfit. I don't think I've actually- Okay. Nice... seen the entire band play. I've seen sections of it or... Yeah. It, I mean, the, the crux- Small world... of it is Owen and Bijou. Yeah.
• 4:50
And then they throw in other people as far as I can tell. And Matt Gates. Marco from Whiskey of the Damned on the, on the big, on the big violin pops in on that. Cool. Right on. Right on.
• 5:03
So that looks like a long [laughs] ass day, so I'm not gonna give her on, on a Friday night. [laughs] Allegedly. Well, I don't, I, I- We, we'll report back next week. I don't know.
• 5:13
I, I'm, I'm, I'm already pre-self-disciplining a few hours from now. That's a good idea. It's gonna be awesome. Probably a good plan. Yep. So the, uh, what, I, I did, I was in Hayward all last weekend. Hey.
• 5:27
At Jablowme up there. Was it fun? Boy, is that great up there. I tell you what, they got, uh, they got lots of trails. They got, they got
• 5:35
fricking frack, 80 miles of mountain bike trails plus and couple hundred miles of very good gravelly, double tracky, lots of stuff to ride.
• 5:45
But, uh, the important thing was it was a NICA, the first NICA race weekend, and they had 1,700 racers up there. [laughs] Holy cow. Which is nice and- What, how many? 17 hundo. Jesus. Did Garrett do it? Garrett did it.
• 5:56
How'd he do? He did a strong start like normal, and then knifed his way backwards, but, you know, he was having fun. The cool thing is this is at Telemark, which- Yeah...
• 6:06
if anybody's ever done Chequamegon Fat 40 or the, you know, the Fat Bike Birkie or any of that stuff, that's right there at Telemark and Cable. And they...
• 6:15
m- in the not too distant past, within the last month or less, maybe even the last week, built some wicked good flow trail, which they used for the course, and it was great. Nice.
• 6:25
So it was four, a four mile lap, and they decided to tack on an extra lap for my son's group.
• 6:33
And then if it would've been the, only the two, he would've done a lot better, and then he just kinda started cramping and started, uh- Ah... started just saying, "Eh- That's how you learn...
• 6:41
I'm having fun on this stuff." Yeah. 'Cause it was about, what I think, 70% of it was just super good flow trail. Did you ever, uh, cross country ski at that resort?
• 6:51
I attempted it, and I do have cross country skis, but- At that resort when it was a- No, not there. Never. Yeah, I did. Never did. I skied that. That was fun.
• 6:58
Um, there is no actual resort building anymore, but I'll ha- Did it burn- I should have a picture of the sh- They tore it down. Oh, okay. But they still have the elevator shaft, so it looks like Stonehenge. Oh, cool.
• 7:08
[laughs] It's just bizarre world. Nice. I like it. Yeah. So, um, yeah, he did, he did well. He had fun, which was the important thing. He really liked the trails, so that was, that was nice.
• 7:18
And then he camped overnight and it was 42 degrees, and, uh, it's, I was in the Airbnb. Gotta give a shout-out to, uh, Mike at the Start Line Inn.
• 7:26
If you're Airbnb-ing up that way, as long as it's not the next NICA race, which I'm gonna try and snag that cabin- [laughs]... 'cause it's ideally located. I forgot my helmet like an idiot. Oh.
• 7:36
And, uh, Mike was kind enough to loan me a helm, so I didn't... And I didn't fall down and wreck his helmet, but if I didn't have a helmet, I was afraid that- Uh, fall down and wreck your head...
• 7:45
probably crack m- crack my cranium or some such. Right. Oh, for crying out loud, I got a button to push over here. Let me see how this works. Hey, welcome to the radio program. Caller, who do we have on the line today?
• 8:00
This is Big Sexy. What's up? Hey. Hey. Largest of sexies. We have not heard your dulcet tones for lo these past four weeks or so. Yeah, I know.
• 8:11
I've been a little busy, but I saw the post that you got clipped or something, man. What happened? Huh? Not me. I don't get clipped, unless it was my haircut. I thought Sven got clipped. No, not me.
• 8:24
That would not be, that wouldn't be good. I would post, I wouldn't post that. I w- nobody needs to know m- my sorrow and my pain. [laughs] Okay. Where, where are you right now? I'm in Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota.
• 8:38
Ah, okay. Unfortunately, the, um, my, my trail is no longer going through Milwaukee until at least springtime. Oh, wow, okay. I did- Yeah, unfortunately, um, uh, an atomic bomb went off in Merrill.
• 8:55
Did you guys feel that down there- Well, I-... in Milwaukee? No, but I drove through Merrill on my way up there, and I thought maybe you were there, but that was last weekend, so m- maybe not. I wa- I was there.
• 9:05
[laughs] You were? Yeah. [laughs] I was there last weekend. And, um, but it became apparent that, um,
• 9:14
nothing good was gonna become of Merrill, Wisconsin, so I decided to go back to at least where, um, I can at least walk to a Grayhound Bus depot. But anyway,
• 9:26
um, um, I thought I saw that you got hit by a car or something like that. I was gonna call and- [laughs]... see how you're doing, but maybe I was mistaken. Not me, no. Thank, thank, thank the good Lord- I have either...
• 9:37
I have not been hit by a car recently. Yeah, I know. But anyway, I, I got, I got- I'd like to see what's up with that... clipped in January, so. Yeah.
• 9:46
But anyway, I just wanted to check in with you guys, and, um, I'm, I'm trying to get my shit together. I'll, I'll, I'll, uh, I'll contact you when I know more. It's... What I'm trying to do is not- [laughs] What's...
• 9:58
What are you tearing apart over there? I'm, I'm trying to not... What? I said, what are you tearing apart over there? It sounds like you got a dog you're wrestling with or something. Oh,
• 10:05
we're right, we're right in the middle of dinner, but I w- I definitely wanted to call and check on you 'cause I thought you got hit by a car. No. Yeah. [laughs] Thank you. Thank you. No, no. We're good.
• 10:13
Thank you, thank you for the, the, the, the concern. I'm glad to hear you are. But yeah, no, I'm good, I'm good to go. But, uh, right on. Well, when you know more, let us know.
• 10:21
I don't wanna interrupt you from your dinner, but, uh- Yeah... you know, give us a shout when you got time. No, cool. No, a- absolutely.
• 10:28
And, um, if, if I do, uh, end up, if my wheels are heading towards Milwaukee, I'll let you know. Of course. That would be awesome. Right on. All right, man. Enjoy your grub. All right, guys. Peace. [laughs] See ya.
• 10:39
All right. Peace. Bye. Well, that was nice. Yeah. You know, because he, uh, thought I got hit by a car. [laughs] Sucks. So I did not, though. So is there another Sven got hit by a car? I know.
• 10:56
Tread lightly for the- From this Sven that may have been hit by a car. The next... Well, I don't want him to have a Freman, Freman- 30, 30, yeah, 30 s-... Fremanish... yeah, what is this, the Dor- Oracle of Delphi? Oh.
• 11:05
Ooh. Well, that's going all the way down to Daikaiju, mate. Ooh. [laughs] Yeah, I'm pretty cognizant usually of where those big killing machines are in my proximity. Hell yeah. You know?
• 11:17
I'm thinking if I have to work all night and I still get to go see Daikaiju, it's worth getting my convertible out. What if you rolled it? Did, would you have a helmet on? My convertible? Yeah.
• 11:27
It's got a pop-up roll cage. Yeah. What, do you think that works at the advanced age your car is? It's like [laughs] 12 years old. It's like a gravity feed.
• 11:35
It's all, uh, I- If it, if it rolls really good, it's just gonna pop up... by the looks of it, it's never spent a, an evening out of a garage. Yeah.
• 11:41
Well, you should probably roll it and just check it out and see if it works. Yeah, I think so. [laughs] I'm gonna try not to do that. Uh, you got a six-speed on there, don't ya? Yeah, I do.
• 11:51
Guess what else has a six-speed now? A Fiat? No, the new Supra. They finally made a manual version of the Supra. Finally. Guess what John's like, "Oh, I had," uh, lunch- Oh, is he looking at one?
• 12:00
I had lu- Aren't they like 80 Gs? No, not a... 53 or something. Oh. But I had lunch with, uh, John Schlick today, of Schlick Cycles fame, talking shark plans. But he was keeping an eye on...
• 12:12
That was actually two days ago. He was keeping an eye on, uh, Bring a Trailer. Yeah... there's a 328 wagon that has a six-speed i- on it, in it, with it.
• 12:21
'Cause- He and I must follow the same bring a trailer- He, he still, he still will not, you know, he wants a manual still. Of course. He's one of those weird people that still likes- Of course... a manual transmission.
• 12:30
'Cause we're cool. But if you get an electric car, you can't have a manual. Well, you could- You build one, you can... kind of sort of have a manual transmission. Oh, there's plenty of the hand-built ones that do it.
• 12:40
Yeah, that'd be kinda int- I don't know if it actually- I'm starting to dive into that rabbit hole a little bit. Yeah, does it, does it play to the strengths?
• 12:45
Like, it's, like, when you have a bicycle, you could technically, if you have enough torque, do it with a one- You know, you don't need, uh, gears at all. Right, right. A lot of cars are single gear.
• 12:55
You just brap it and you go. Yeah. When it spins fast enough, you don't have to worry about it. But a lot of electric bikes obviously have gears. Mm-hmm. Oddly enough, a lot of them have really shitty drive trains.
• 13:03
Mm-hmm. Uh, but, you know, I guess they get people from where they are to where they're going. I'm just not sure, maybe with... I don't know, maybe with a mid-drive.
• 13:12
But with a hub drive, you have a big enough torque curve, you don't need it. I don't think so, but- But still... I still want a manual. On your bike or your car? Yes. Both.
• 13:22
[laughs] Oh man, when I was coming back from up north, Derhey, uh, tons of traffic, my goodness. You know, you got your, uh, your fibs going south. You got your, you know, Wally World people going.
• 13:36
You got a lot of people driving, and it wasn't horrible except around Oshkosh B'gosh. Oh, really now? Uh, but I did notice, and probably people are cleaning cabins out this time of year and whatnot- Right...
• 13:46
that there was a lot of vehicles with bikes on them, and a lot of those bikes were really, really, really- Really crappy... crappy.
• 13:55
[laughs] And I thought, boy, there's a lot of people out there that have bikes but really don't have any, you know, love for bikes, or they just kinda- Totally agree with that...
• 14:02
it's another, it's another toy in the garage when they have, like, the jet ski and the ATV and the boat, and it's like- Right... "Well, yeah, I need another trailer, you know, to maybe, like, carry the paddleboards.
• 14:13
And I put those on the roof sometimes, but, you know, I just... These bikes, I just..." I don't know. I don't get it. I like it when they have the carrier above the carrier. Yeah.
• 14:21
There's- So there's like a rocket box, and then you have to lean that open to get to the bike rack. Yeah, it seems like there's an- It's, it's, you know... awful lot of carrying of things.
• 14:29
Uh- How far are you going, and how many of those objects are you going to use?
• 14:33
I- that's why I was thinking maybe then, there was a lot of boats coming back and stuff, so maybe it was- Oh, probably bringing back from storage. Yeah, perhaps...
• 14:38
maybe, yeah, maybe they were over, over summering, and it was time to clean the cabin up- Yeah... before the- That's a good thing... before the big chill happens up there in northern Wisconsin.
• 14:45
See, I have to just digress slightly, but you know, I, I, I was out with Sam and Julie. You know, smartass Sam and Julie. You know smartass Sam. For the, uh- I just know Sam.
• 14:56
[laughs] For the, for the potluck at the Black Huskies, and you know, Julie, she instilled on me to be kind. So I practiced really hard giving nice compliments to- The fat guy?... Sam.
• 15:13
[laughs] I'm calling him Sam. Yes, it was really funny. You should be nice to him. It was- For he can crush your face with his hands. Yeah, he can literally destroy me with his hands.
• 15:21
But- He was do- He, he had a picture of him doing workout with Stu, and he had this, the grip thing, and I don't know what it is, but it's... Y- I probably couldn't even move it, like, partial. You know?
• 15:32
It's like, and he's... Which it could be your head. He, he can pick up a manhole cover with three fingers. Yeah. I mean, that's insane. [laughs] I mean, the amount- That's true...
• 15:40
of strength that takes is- Why anybody would wanna do that. Why? Why? Oh, oh, right, right. See, the amount of strength it takes to get to the top of the hill is amazing, folks. Amazing. Oh, my back.
• 15:51
Oh, but he's doing it. There I am. He's doing it on his 50th. Oh. There I am. I cracked it. You made it. I... JK sent... JK picked up the beer today. Yeah. So we'll, we'll let him- Thank you, JK... talk about it.
• 16:00
But I did wanna make note of the fact that the cover art, that guy is totally baked. Yeah. Oh. He's, he's seen the train wreck. Tell us about this beer because... Well, tell us about it. I'll try it while you're telling.
• 16:14
Hazy IPA. It is from Elysian. Elysian. Apparently from Seattle, as far as I could read. And- It's a contact haze with a funky, funky artwork. I've been to this brewery.
• 16:28
[laughs] Yeah, it's got, like, is that his brains or something? I think it is. It's got a tangled chemistry of mild haze. They've, they've got a s- He appears to have a bicycle helmet on his cranium. Yeah, he does.
• 16:40
They have a, uh, second tasting room in Pike's Place thingamajigger. Pike's Peak Place? The, you know, the downtown fancy place in Seattle. Oh. Right? I've just been- Of course...
• 16:52
to Seattle once, and I was there for, like, four hours, and I didn't ever go back Elysian Brewing Company, Seattle, Washington, Merrimack, New Hampshire, and Fort- Pardon me... Collins, Coloradi. Mm. Merrimack?
• 17:03
Merrimack, where are you, say? Merrimack, New Hampshire. So they have really thrown down since I was there. Yeah, it's an interesting flavor. About three years ago. I'm getting a contact haze from it already. Are you?
• 17:15
Yeah, the picture I sent. It is from- Give me a little-... Washington State. They could be instilling it with the poison. Oh, can they do infused beer in places where it's legal with the marijuana? I believe so.
• 17:27
It's a jazz cabbage. Or would, would they? Is there a reason to? I'm not sure there's a good reason to do it or... I don't know how it would even work.
• 17:34
Well, I mean, you know, I guess it's like people that like mashed potatoes and gravy and people that like mashed potatoes and gravy on the side.
• 17:45
So like- I'll take a Hamm's and a, and a PBR versus- One person might want to have a beer and a joint. The other person just wants to have a beer and be dumb as shit for hours. Be, be, be done with it. Be dumb with it.
• 17:57
[laughs] Be done with it. Very good. Very good. Oh, or like, okay, like the European, "Yeah, I'll have a whiskey and Coke." "Here's your whiskey, and here's your Coke." "Here's your Coke." Right.
• 18:06
[laughs] "You wanna mix it? Go for it." Yeah. "But we're giving you the two components you asked for." And I kinda dug that, 'cause at first I was like, "Huh, meh." Yeah. All of a sudden you're like, "Come on."
• 18:16
And then I'm like, "Wait a minute, I can-" But then you have the option. And then my pinky went up. [laughs] Because everything was getting daintier and daintier. Yes.
• 18:22
And I got a, and I got a Kit Kat with my little tiny coffee. And it was only a tiny little Kit Kat And- Only one Kit Kat And, and only one cup of coffee, unfortunately, 'cause rabbit- Well, yeah.
• 18:32
Well, it had the power of, like, nine, but- Yeah... [coughs] definitely have to [smacks lips] marshal your, your intake on that one, 'cause by the end of [laughs] the first adventure of that, I was...
• 18:46
[gibberish] So yeah. [laughs] I've learned- We too experienced that our first trip... [gibberish] Our first trip to France was like that, yes. Yes, we got
• 18:58
small cups of coffee with nice little chocolates next to them, and you were wired for sound after one of them.
• 19:02
Speaking of visiting a foreign land- Is that 'cause all the wine the night before that you need the coffee the next day? Well, yes and yes. Yes. But I drank Duvel double beer- Oh, yeah... when I was in France. Yeah.
• 19:13
Don't they have the Chimay over there, too? Oh, yeah, Chimay's pretty good. Little pricey. Yeah. Just like here. [laughs] But I got- It's delicious... I remember getting... [sighs] It was in Portugal and Spain.
• 19:24
They had these little... I mean, they loo- looked like Hi-C juice boxes, like larger ones. Uh, but they were wine, like little b- boxes of wine. Boxed wine? Yeah, man.
• 19:34
For, uh, I don't know, a euro or something like that. Right, right. So it was, like, a, you know, essentially a buck or two bucks for the, the, a bout a bottle, a bottle of wine. Bought a bottle?
• 19:44
I bought a bottle, I bought a bottle of wine. That you can walk around and drink. Yeah, yeah. I'll tell you what I've learned about wine- I like that a lot... thanks to the Art Bar. If you- [laughs]...
• 19:52
if you do a show and you have a few beers, and then you go over to, uh, wherever, you may call it amorphic, and have a beer after the show, and then you go maybe stop somewhere else.
• 20:00
And then you think, "Hey, it'd be a really good idea, 'cause it's wine night over at the Art Bar." No. And, uh, yeah. No, yeah, I mean, it's great when it's happening, but, oh- Oh, yeah...
• 20:08
it's not so great that much later on. Oh. No, no. [laughs] No. When you get, when you get home- Beer and wine, oh...
• 20:13
I keep getting- When you get home- I keep getting the promise of Donny being there, and then it's- No Donny... Brian or whatever his name is. No. When you get- Yeah...
• 20:21
when you get home, it's like, "Oh, I finally got home. [sighs] Oh, let me just put my stuff down for a second, have a smoke. [sighs] All right. [sighs] [snores]" In the chair on the porch? In the chair on the porch.
• 20:35
There you go. And then, oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, you're gonna wanna have that. Yeah. You're gonna... That's gonna happen. Sometimes that's fantastic. That's g- Yes, that's gonna happen on occasion.
• 20:43
That's, yeah, that, not even planned, it makes it even better. Yeah. So- It's like, "Oops"... boom. Oh, hey-oh. Hey-oh... hey-oh, cool. Almo- alm- almost went to the bottom of the hill.
• 20:52
So what's the, uh, El Cahuzi content and stuff? Six, I believe. Six? Six. Six. It's got an interesting juicy... It's got a juicy flavor. Yeah? It's juicy. Raspberry and currants and citrus and guava and passionfruit.
• 21:04
Yeah. I wasn't... It's not overpowering. It's slight floral note is what I'm... Yeah, it's, uh- It's not like hazy chewy like Hazy Rabbit. Right, right. You know, where it's- Can't drink Hazy Rabbit.
• 21:13
It makes my stomach not so happy. Hmm. I used to like it, but it's... I don't know. It's maybe- Yeah, that's for sure... small doser or what. Maybe it's a small doser, but it is tasty.
• 21:21
Could've been where we were drinking it from, too, depending on turnover and things like that. Yeah, that could be. Well, I, I know at, uh- At, at our-...
• 21:27
at our local down the street pubbery, they go through it pretty fast, but- Yeah... at Bremen. Bremen. Raymond, Bremen. Uh, but we were drinking it a lot at, uh, which you'd also expect to be turning over well at...
• 21:38
Well, maybe not, though, at, um, [tsks] uh, Skateboard now Tiki Bar. Skateboard now Tiki Bar. Foundation. Skateboard now... There's no skateboards there anymore. There used to be. Yeah, I know. Used to be.
• 21:51
There used to be jerky there too. Jerky. Yeah, well now, and, uh, which is- Yeah, it used to be fantastic jerky. Yeah, yeah. Oh, wait. We should stop there and see if they have the jerky.
• 21:57
I got, I get nostalgic about the jerky one. I'm betting they don't anymore because of COVID. Yeah.
• 22:02
I bet you they gave up on the jerky, 'cause the guy that got it and shit- Well, I think the guy, that, that wasn't at the dance, the guy, he just said, "I'm kinda done with... I'm, I- That was, yeah...
• 22:11
I just, I just choose not to make it anymore" or something like that. Right. Well, partially because of the COVID and the blah, blah, blah.
• 22:16
So there's an event going on this weekend which we're too late for probably, although you could probably go up there tomorrow, Saturday, if you want to, up in Rhinelander, Wisconsin- Oh, Rhinelander...
• 22:25
called the Hodag Country Ramble. Ha ha. And, uh, apparently, I don't know Jeffrey. He was a All City guy for, uh, many years up there at the big mothership QBP. But a lot of our f- uh, local posse is going up there, and
• 22:40
hopefully we're gonna get a nice report on that or some pictures or something. And, you know, you got, uh, you got a couple hundred people, and we're gonna have, we're gonna have some, some peeps up there.
• 22:49
So I'm curious about that one, 'cause I think if it goes well this year, hopefully it continues on for a little bit. Sounds like a fun time. Yeah. QBP. Apparently Jeffrey's, uh, family farm where he grew up,
• 23:03
so the land he wants to kinda say, "This is, this is... I wanna show you guys this place." Yeah. Yeah. "It's pretty cool." This is my group. "You wanna check it out?" Like going to the Hirsch farm in Platteville.
• 23:14
My gosh, are there some good trails there, because it's driftless, so there's a lot of elevation that's not tillable, so they made trails [laughs] on it. Nice. Goodly, goodly stuff. Goodly. What else? Wait. Bigly.
• 23:27
Oh, yeah, we did that. We did that. Steel is Real, you know what? I'm gonna say we're doing Steel is Real on the 17th, right? Even if it's just us doing it. Could be. Saturday the 17th. Yeah, why not?
• 23:37
Yeah, we're gonna do that. I'd say we'll probably roll about noon, though. That's a week from this Saturday, right? That's a week from today. Right. Tomorrow. Tomorrow. Oh, I can totally do that.
• 23:45
Yeah, the thing- I'll make certain... here's the thing. Uh. We're not making a big deal about it this year. We're, we're not even inviting people that ruined it last year. [laughs] What, me? No.
• 23:55
Depending on who you talk to. Well, kinda sorta. Oh. No. Um- [laughs]... it's just gonna be a, a- I think it's-... Saturday ride at noon is what it's gonna be. But we're gonna do some semblance of the...
• 24:06
And I'm gonna ride a steel bike, which I always do anyway. Of course. Right, right, right, right. Speaking of steel bikes, I got that new Wednesday.
• 24:13
I'm wondering what to do with the one-off, uh, Zen Cycles built Slick Eight frame. Hmm. Thinking somebody ought to have that in their collection for a hefty fee to have a one-off, don't you think? Yeah.
• 24:25
You know what else- One-offs... I could have that I don't need? Bluto. You r- I, I decided not to put a suspension fork on the Wednesday No, I came with a fork- Oh... so that's what I'm using. [laughs] Yeah.
• 24:35
But I did put a dropper post on it, and that is pretty badass. Um- It's gonna be really cool in the winter... steel fork, obviously. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, lots of good camping mounts.
• 24:45
It's got mounts all over- Like that guy has... the place. You could put, you could put earrings on there. You can put, you know, you can put all sorts of stuff on there if you wanted to. [whispers] Strap-ons.
• 24:53
No, I didn't wanna go there- [laughs]... because it's not on the fence anymore, but- I know, it's [laughs] No co- no cock... the BBD is gone, uh, lo these past three weeks now or so. So, yeah.
• 25:04
Although, I did see, uh, [clicks tongue] one of the deer, not in the refuge, but in the opposite side- Oh, yeah, I see him-... of the lake... once in a while, too... yeah, the yawn- Tastes so good...
• 25:15
like the yawning man one. Sometimes I see him- Sometimes I see him watching across the street, like, all sultry, like [sighs] There might be a solid six deer in there. Oh, I think there's more than that. [laughs] Yeah.
• 25:23
We're talking- Well, and this area is, like, what, uh, it's a half a block, squ- it's, like, a block long and a half a block wide. Right. It's not very big. And it's very overgrown. Yeah.
• 25:33
We, I had the best course, jungle cross course, put in there. That'll be fun in there. It would take a lot of weed whacking, though. Yeah, that's the s- I don't think we'll get kicked out... thing.
• 25:41
And the deer will be like- Oh, I think that guy patrols it... "How's it going?" Yeah. Well, maybe that. The deer, the, the- There's a lot of deer... deer would kick you out- Yeah... literally. Right?
• 25:51
[imitates kicking] Yeah, I think there's more deer in there than you think. Then we- 'Cause when I worked at Spike- Then, then it's gonna be the uprising...
• 25:56
when I worked at Spike and rolled past there, I'd see them morning and night, like, just hanging out. I'm like, "Whoa." Do you guys... So when you guys travel, do you listen to podcasts at all? I don't generally.
• 26:08
You don't really- Generally not... you just don't really travel- I listen to music... that much anyway. I don't. Well, you do up to Oshkosh. Did. Did. If I do, it's normally- R- RIP, big guy...
• 26:16
cy- I, I make a, like, destination playlist and hope- Ah... hope for the best, and if not, then have a bunch of CDs Right on. So yeah, podcasts are not, you know, your thing.
• 26:26
I listen, I've listened to certain- [laughs] And here we are on a podcast. [laughs] And here we are on a podcast. [laughs] Right. Like, p- podcasts really aren't- Well-... isn't really my thing.
• 26:32
It's quite obvious why- [laughs]... you know, these are such horrible shows is 'cause that- [laughs]... podcasts aren't really your thing.
• 26:40
[laughs] So I, I normally listen to things that I'm trying to better myself with, like, you know, maybe- Oh, oh... just business ideas or something. So I don't know, whatever, it's this kind of stuff.
• 26:51
But somehow I got stuck on Revolting, which is Stevo Keneal- [laughs]... and, uh- [laughs]... Robot from the Cycling Independence podcast. And I gotta tell you, guys, I know you listen to our show, obviously.
• 27:02
Who doesn't? But the first few I tried way back when you first started, they were cringey. They're good now. But this one was, it was better, and the, uh, kind of the cool thing about it was they had a theme.
• 27:14
And, uh, here's one thing I don't get, uh- Show notes... it's like nine weeks until they post a show or sometimes or something. I'm like, you don't just put it up the next day? Right. What the hell?
• 27:23
What kind of, what kind of professional podcasters are you guys anyway? Right. Um, [laughs] which obviously- They're not... just like us. They're not.
• 27:31
But, um, they had this bit where they went through the decades from once they first got a bike to now. So it was have a bike and come up with a song that kind of reminded you of that decade. Oh, cool.
• 27:44
And it was kind of a cool thing. So, and I think that was number 41, so if you wanna listen to something interesting that those guys finally did, that might be the show that you wanna start listening to.
• 27:53
Post it in the notes. It's there. Yeah, I know. It was nine weeks ago. Yeah. They must be doing better by now, I'm pretty sure. You say revolting, I think cocks. Yes. Of course. Rev go, baby.
• 28:01
And I think of attack ships on fire. [laughs] So, so th- that's the... And they, they both have bands that I was not super familiar with that are in the punk rock kind of m- genre. Mm.
• 28:14
And I was like, "Well, I probably should check those bands out," 'cause it's these guys, you know, kind of...
• 28:19
They were around the same, you know, eras and stuff as other things I was listening to, so I'm like, "Yeah, I gotta go check those out." Yeah. Yeah.
• 28:26
So I might, might have new playlists from new, new band, new, new to me bands. They're not new bands by any stretch, but- Right. Interesting. Yeah. New Dope Throne, New Dope Throne is coming. Is that a band? Yes.
• 28:37
That's what Fenriz... Oh, Fenriz. Fenriz. Are you having a great Friday? Are you having a great Friday? [laughs] Hey, hey, it's Fenriz. Are you having a great Friday? [laughs] I haven't...
• 28:46
Well, I don't follow the book face much, but I haven't seen that from you lately. Ah. It was sort of a Friday regular for a while there. Yeah. I try to make a, uh, I make, try to make a point of that being my,
• 29:02
my nonsense about Friday check-ins, 'cause I don't go all the way to the lake to take the picture. Oh, it's f- well over a mile away. Yeah, I know. [laughs] Oh, wait, I'm sorry.
• 29:14
You can walk- Did I say Dark Throne or Dark Do- Dope Throne? You said Throne something. It's Dark Throne. Deep Throne. Deep Throne. [sighs] Dope Throne was the word- Dope Throne... you said. Did I say Dope Throne?
• 29:25
I think you did. Okay. Well, you were... That's why I was thinking of dope smoker and Dark- No, no... Dark Throne all rolled into one. Well, it's, it's, it is. I mean, well, it's a, it's...
• 29:31
Okay, it's a genre of doom, [clears throat] stoner doom. Right. Dark Throne with Fenriz. Oh, [laughs] nice. That's, that's what it is. Dope Throne is an album by Electric Wizard, which is a similar- To Sleep... v- Yes.
• 29:48
They're all- To dope smoker. Yeah, yeah... it's all in the same- Wow... world of- That took so much effort. Ah. I, I think it's time to go. My brain- It's like he's 50 or something... my brain hurts.
• 29:57
There and there and there. All right. Fenriz- Fenriz is 50. I just see this now. What? Yep, turned 50 last November. Well, there you go. Fenriz. So he's- Fenriz... coming up on 51. Yeah. Well, thanks everybody. I'm not.
• 30:09
I'm gonna bounce back. This is like- Oh... as high as I go. Next- Retraction... yeah, next year I'll be 49. Like the turtle going back into the, the house. Benjamin Button this shit. Yep, yep, yep. Yeah. All right.
• 30:18
Well- Huh?... I guess we'll do this again. This one didn't suck that bad. [gibberish] Thanks, Big Sexy, for your concern. I am well and good and- Happy birthday, JK... and happy birthday to you.
• 30:27
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Uh-huh, uh-huh. Satan demons whip with higher rules. Exactly.
• 30:33
  [upbeat music]
