- 0:01Speaker 1: FT Live postgame show.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Game two of the World Series is done, and this
- 0:05Speaker 2: show is presented by Fox One. That's where you can
- 0:07Speaker 2: watch the World Series. You're watching us right now, Scotti,
- 0:10Speaker 2: bron aerokratz Aj Brazinski, Dodgers even up the series and Aj,
- 0:14Speaker 2: we have to start right away with tipping our cap
- 0:17Speaker 2: to Yoshinoba Yamamoto. I mean, this is legendary, especially in
- 0:21Speaker 2: today's times, like I think it had been eight ish
- 0:23Speaker 2: years since a complete game, and he just racks back
- 0:26Speaker 2: to back in his two playoffs, starts just now in
- 0:29Speaker 2: his last two.
- 0:30Speaker 3: Well, first of all, yes, what a job by Yamamoto.
- 0:32Speaker 3: And they had him a little bit on the ropes earlier.
- 0:34Speaker 3: The first couple innings he got out of the first inning, uh,
- 0:37Speaker 3: first and third he got out with no runs. He
- 0:39Speaker 3: had first and third again and the third inning gave
- 0:42Speaker 3: up the sack fly and got out of it. They
- 0:43Speaker 3: had a chance or lived kind of to push him around,
- 0:46Speaker 3: knock him out, and they didn't do it. The Blue Jays,
- 0:48Speaker 3: So here we are, Yamamoto. Great job, one hundred and
- 0:51Speaker 3: three pitches, I think it was something like that, just
- 0:53Speaker 3: over one hundred pitches. Great job by him. Great job
- 0:56Speaker 3: by Dave Roberts for letting him go that far. Remember
- 1:00Speaker 3: this is a team of the Dodgers that was afraid
- 1:02Speaker 3: to get into the third time through. Now they're letting
- 1:04Speaker 3: their starters go deep, so great job by them. It
- 1:07Speaker 3: was just an awesome pitch game by Yamamoto. Man, he
- 1:09Speaker 3: deserves so much credit. He was in control.
- 1:13Speaker 4: I know he had some issues early. This is what
- 1:17Speaker 4: you run up against when you have a team that
- 1:18Speaker 4: puts balls in play. What I was surprised was how
- 1:22Speaker 4: few fastballs he threw early. It was like he was like, oh, yeah,
- 1:26Speaker 4: you know what, I don't even need it, and he
- 1:28Speaker 4: kind of ran into some trouble and then he started
- 1:30Speaker 4: throwing more fastballs later in a game. But to throw
- 1:33Speaker 4: back to back complete games in the postseason.
- 1:37Speaker 5: Is unheard of right now.
- 1:38Speaker 4: I mean you're talking it hasn't been done since two
- 1:40Speaker 4: thousand and one, and you're sitting here in this day
- 1:45Speaker 4: and age. In two thousand and one, it was rare,
- 1:47Speaker 4: but not as rare as now. Like there's elite pitchers
- 1:52Speaker 4: that are gonna be top three cy young right now
- 1:54Speaker 4: that don't have two complete games this entire season. And
- 1:58Speaker 4: he just did it back to back.
- 2:00Speaker 2: It's a good point. Yeah, it's incredible. What do you
- 2:02Speaker 2: think of the game plan there? Aj where he barely
- 2:05Speaker 2: threw fastballs early, but then he was pumping heaters late
- 2:09Speaker 2: And for me, I know it's not a direct comp
- 2:11Speaker 2: but the Justin Burlander type where you can you know,
- 2:16Speaker 2: use your heater and be your own reliever closer.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Type late in games.
- 2:20Speaker 2: That's what I thought about in terms of the approach
- 2:22Speaker 2: where you're going to have to switch it up if
- 2:24Speaker 2: you're facing a really good offense in terms of your
- 2:26Speaker 2: strategy throughout the game. So did you like the game
- 2:29Speaker 2: plan from the Dodgers to attack Toronto after they put
- 2:32Speaker 2: up eleven runs in game one?
- 2:34Speaker 3: Well, I mean look at the stuff, like Son didn't
- 2:36Speaker 3: have great stuff last night in game one, so I
- 2:39Speaker 3: think you could tell earlier that Yamamoto had really good stuff.
- 2:43Speaker 5: You know, he just.
- 2:45Speaker 3: Gave up a run early, He gave up one run
- 2:47Speaker 3: and still you know, twenty three pitches in the first
- 2:49Speaker 3: and ended up I think with one hundred and four pitches.
- 2:51Speaker 3: So I mean he went eight innings and what eighty
- 2:54Speaker 3: one pitches, So that's that's pretty solid.
- 2:56Speaker 5: Night by him. So yeah, I think the game plan
- 2:59Speaker 5: was perfect.
- 3:00Speaker 3: I mean, the thing that I liked about it most was, yes,
- 3:02Speaker 3: I only to use a split in his little cutter,
- 3:04Speaker 3: but he could just drop in that curveball at any point.
- 3:06Speaker 5: And that's what I like.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Man, that big curveball he was throwing, and he was
- 3:10Speaker 3: just dropping in with two strikes or you know, he
- 3:12Speaker 3: knew how to use it, so he dropping in there
- 3:14Speaker 3: when he needed a strike, and then when he wanted
- 3:16Speaker 3: to punch out, he bounced.
- 3:17Speaker 5: He did to Kirk, he did it to Vlad.
- 3:19Speaker 3: It was awesome the way he worked and the way
- 3:21Speaker 3: him and Will Smith were on the same page.
- 3:23Speaker 5: That's fun to watch.
- 3:25Speaker 2: Well, let's bring up Will Smith here, Kratz. This was
- 3:28Speaker 2: the Will Smith game on offense for the Dodgers. I
- 3:31Speaker 2: mean three different time periods in this game he comes through.
- 3:34Speaker 2: It starts with the Dodgers scoring first again in Toronto.
- 3:37Speaker 2: That didn't matter in Game one, but it certainly mattered
- 3:39Speaker 2: in this one. And then you had the go ahead
- 3:41Speaker 2: home run off the full count fastball. They were attacking
- 3:45Speaker 2: the fastball in that seventh inning with home runs for
- 3:47Speaker 2: him in max months. And then don't forget about the
- 3:49Speaker 2: fielders choice in the eighth that made it five to one.
- 3:51Speaker 2: I mean it didn't end up mattering, but just to
- 3:53Speaker 2: put the game a little bit more out of reach.
- 3:55Speaker 2: He made contact all night and that was his first
- 3:57Speaker 2: extra base hit of the postseason. Is that bats looked decent,
- 4:01Speaker 2: but there was no pop until tonight.
- 4:04Speaker 4: I mean, anytime you do anything hands, wrist, anything like that,
- 4:08Speaker 4: you really never know what you're gonna end up getting.
- 4:10Speaker 4: I know his was a foul tip when he was catching,
- 4:13Speaker 4: but how soon you're back Who knows that ball in there?
- 4:17Speaker 4: Will Smith's arms are too short. The only person that
- 4:20Speaker 4: has shorter arms than that is Josh Willingham or Alejandra
- 4:24Speaker 4: Kirk on the other side. He just pulled him in
- 4:27Speaker 4: right there, and I mean the whole just completely silenced
- 4:31Speaker 4: the crowd with that swing. But this guy, he almost
- 4:35Speaker 4: hit over three hundred for the season. He was hitting
- 4:37Speaker 4: at one point, he was hitting over four hundred with
- 4:39Speaker 4: runners in scoring position. He never goes outside of the
- 4:43Speaker 4: zone he's looking for. I'm not saying he doesn't swing
- 4:46Speaker 4: outside of the zone. I'm saying he rarely chases out
- 4:49Speaker 4: of the zone where he's looking. And tonight was just
- 4:53Speaker 4: a prime case where when you put the ball in play,
- 4:56Speaker 4: like he did get You drive a lot of you
- 4:58Speaker 4: drive a lot of runs in with the guy, guys
- 5:00Speaker 4: that are always going to be on in front of him,
- 5:03Speaker 4: and you have to pitch to somebody, and tonight Will
- 5:06Speaker 4: Smith made him pay.
- 5:09Speaker 2: Yeah, And the Dodgers' offense had to get going aj
- 5:12Speaker 2: and they did. I mean, obviously they only needed two
- 5:16Speaker 2: runs in this one, but that was going to be
- 5:18Speaker 2: a developing storyline, right The Dodgers have one of the
- 5:22Speaker 2: better offenses in baseball? Are they going to turn it
- 5:24Speaker 2: on here in the Fall Classic? And five runs that
- 5:27Speaker 2: gets the job done.
- 5:28Speaker 5: Well, a couple of things.
- 5:29Speaker 3: The first hit for Smith in the first inning, it
- 5:31Speaker 3: was huge after the Freddie double to get him the lead,
- 5:34Speaker 3: which is always nice to have the lead. Y'amamoto was dominant.
- 5:39Speaker 3: The home run by Will Smith, Let's not forget the
- 5:41Speaker 3: home run by Max Munsey opo. And what I found
- 5:44Speaker 3: funny is John Smoltz on the game. He does a
- 5:46Speaker 3: great job on the game. He goes, well, if you
- 5:48Speaker 3: just throw him a fastball here, he'll probably punch them out. Listen,
- 5:50Speaker 3: I've seen Max Munsey a lot in my life. You
- 5:53Speaker 3: don't throw him a fastball unless he can't get to
- 5:55Speaker 3: it because if you throw it and you make the
- 5:57Speaker 3: slightest mistake, he does what he did in that And
- 6:00Speaker 3: that wasn't a terrible pitch by Gosman. I mean it
- 6:03Speaker 3: was up and out over the plate. Most guys can't
- 6:06Speaker 3: do what he did, especially in Toronto. But you just
- 6:09Speaker 3: can't throw that. If you have the split that Gosman had,
- 6:12Speaker 3: you're gonna have to throw him two more splits. He
- 6:14Speaker 3: got to two two. I'm throwing him two more split scrats.
- 6:16Speaker 3: I'm not letting him get to that fastball. And the
- 6:18Speaker 3: last thing is Freddy Freeman comes up with the bases loaded,
- 6:21Speaker 3: the ball hits him in the foot. How do you
- 6:23Speaker 3: not have an automatic like review buzzer like they do
- 6:26Speaker 3: in football, where like the umpires thing buzzes and it's
- 6:30Speaker 3: just somebody's watching the game instead of the umpire's in
- 6:32Speaker 3: New York sleeping or whatever they're doing. Like, how can
- 6:35Speaker 3: that not be an automatic buzz to get ball hit
- 6:37Speaker 3: him in the foot.
- 6:37Speaker 5: I don't understand.
- 6:40Speaker 4: I don't know either, but that was definitely a flex.
- 6:42Speaker 4: Freddy wanted to wanted that bat. He was like, I
- 6:45Speaker 4: know exactly what Jeff Hoffman's throwing here. He's like go ahead,
- 6:50Speaker 4: score the run. Even Kirk was like no, no, no, that
- 6:52Speaker 4: hit him, and Freddy's like, no, just come on home, pies.
- 6:55Speaker 4: That that was funny. That was That was kind of
- 6:57Speaker 4: stuff I see in high school sometimes where guys are like, no, no,
- 7:00Speaker 4: I don't want to I don't want to get hit,
- 7:01Speaker 4: I don't want.
- 7:01Speaker 5: To go first.
- 7:02Speaker 4: I want to hit. I want to hit against this guy.
- 7:04Speaker 4: And he was doing it against the Blue Jays closer,
- 7:07Speaker 4: so you might want to file that away. Freddie Freeman
- 7:10Speaker 4: might be seeing Jeff Hoffman. I'm just saying, especially since
- 7:13Speaker 4: they walked five guys in his in his outing when
- 7:16Speaker 4: he faced the Dodgers earlier in the year. But the
- 7:19Speaker 4: pitch to Max Munsey, there are two guys in the
- 7:23Speaker 4: big leagues that I am not throwing a fastball for
- 7:25Speaker 4: a strike, and I don't think Gosman has enough. One
- 7:29Speaker 4: thing that some pitchers who are really in the zone
- 7:31Speaker 4: do really well is they stay in the zone. Some
- 7:34Speaker 4: guys don't throw that bastard fastball so far out of
- 7:39Speaker 4: the zone where you're like the up up, we would
- 7:41Speaker 4: call it like up up higher than high fastball. That's
- 7:44Speaker 4: the only one you throw to Max Munsey there's two
- 7:47Speaker 4: guys in the league that hit fastballs. It's Max Munsey
- 7:51Speaker 4: Juan Soto and then everybody else. Those two guys control
- 7:54Speaker 4: the zone and they hammer so many fastballs, and I
- 7:57Speaker 4: think it was just doing it, was doing him a
- 8:01Speaker 4: service by giving him a fastball, but it was also
- 8:03Speaker 4: putting Gosman in a bad spot to do something that
- 8:07Speaker 4: if you wanted that higher than high. How many times
- 8:10Speaker 4: has Gosman had to go there?
- 8:12Speaker 5: All day?
- 8:12Speaker 4: He was pounding the bottom of zone with that flat out,
- 8:15Speaker 4: flattened out heater, and then he was throwing a splitter
- 8:18Speaker 4: off of it, Like, I just I agree with you.
- 8:21Speaker 4: I turned my wife when I was watching the game.
- 8:23Speaker 4: I was like, ooh, I disagree with what Smoltz is
- 8:25Speaker 4: saying there, but we'll see danger.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Hey, I want to get AJ's thoughts on Gosman. But first,
- 8:34Speaker 2: just a quick reminder to everyone. This actually AJ's favorite thing.
- 8:38Speaker 2: He gets really excited when I do this because I
- 8:40Speaker 2: don't do it often or don't do it often enough.
- 8:42Speaker 2: But it's baseball the way it should be covered. It's
- 8:43Speaker 2: foul territory. I'm just letting everyone know. It'd be cool
- 8:46Speaker 2: if you're watching right now, if you hit a little
- 8:48Speaker 2: subscribe to what we're doing here on YouTube and on
- 8:51Speaker 2: podcast platform, social media, the whole deal. That's all just
- 8:54Speaker 2: a little ask for a button press. Thank you very much,
- 8:57Speaker 2: and we'll also talk about Game three of course coming
- 8:59Speaker 2: up in a few minutes. But first off, AJ, what
- 9:02Speaker 2: did you think of Kevin Gossman using the fastball early
- 9:05Speaker 2: and often? And I thought the see for me, AJ,
- 9:08Speaker 2: I love the mid game interviews with the managers. It's
- 9:11Speaker 2: a minute long and Doc Roberts saying that they were
- 9:14Speaker 2: respecting the splitter too much and that they needed to
- 9:16Speaker 2: get after that fastball and you're like, okay, and then
- 9:19Speaker 2: later in the game in the seventh they do get
- 9:20Speaker 2: after the fastball. Like for me as a fan, I
- 9:23Speaker 2: love that access.
- 9:24Speaker 3: Well, one thing the Dodgers do really well and the
- 9:26Speaker 3: blue Jays kind of do it really well too, is
- 9:28Speaker 3: Dodgers try to eliminate your best pitch is an offense,
- 9:31Speaker 3: and the Blue Jays kind of do the same thing.
- 9:34Speaker 3: Dodgers just are probably the best I've ever seen at it.
- 9:37Speaker 3: Well I don't know, but ever, but recently they just
- 9:40Speaker 3: take a pitcher's best pitch and say, like we're not
- 9:43Speaker 3: going to swing at it, we're gonna try not to swing,
- 9:45Speaker 3: and obviously Tay Oscar had a rough night because he's
- 9:47Speaker 3: swung at them all. But they try as an offense
- 9:50Speaker 3: to say, we're not going to swing at the split.
- 9:53Speaker 5: But what happens.
- 9:54Speaker 3: Sometimes is if you get a guy like Gosman that
- 9:55Speaker 3: can really throw that low fastball that stays true and
- 9:58Speaker 3: is a strike, then he can steal strikes and he
- 10:01Speaker 3: can steal strikeouts and it makes you just a wee
- 10:03Speaker 3: bit late on the fastball. And how many times we
- 10:05Speaker 3: see Dodgers guys just missed the fastball. Freddy Freeman did
- 10:08Speaker 3: it twice to center. A bunch of guys just missed
- 10:11Speaker 3: it or were a little bit late. It's because they're respecting
- 10:13Speaker 3: to split and they don't want to look bad on that. Well,
- 10:15Speaker 3: guess what, guys, you're not hitting the split anyway, so
- 10:17Speaker 3: you better be ready for the fastball. And Kevin Gossman,
- 10:20Speaker 3: especially early, did a great job exploiting that. And I
- 10:22Speaker 3: know the two home runs he gave up on fastballs,
- 10:25Speaker 3: but you know what, it was a seventh inning. Kevin
- 10:26Speaker 3: Goslin pitched really well. So to blame Kevin Goslin for
- 10:30Speaker 3: this is crazy. I mean, the Blue Jays offense scored
- 10:32Speaker 3: one run against Yamamoto. But I thought he was great.
- 10:35Speaker 3: I thought he pitched awesome, and his office didn't help
- 10:38Speaker 3: him out, but he really made the two mistakes. It
- 10:40Speaker 3: was the Will Smith and the Maxi Munsey Homer. Other
- 10:43Speaker 3: than that, Kevin Goslin was awesome, had a great game
- 10:45Speaker 3: plan and just was really good.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Yeah, kept him in the game most of the time.
- 10:49Speaker 5: There.
- 10:49Speaker 1: That's all you can ask.
- 10:51Speaker 2: And for many of you that question managers, manager decisions aging.
- 10:57Speaker 2: In this particular case, Kevin Gosman deserve to keep pitching
- 11:01Speaker 2: in that game. He had the five and two thirds
- 11:03Speaker 2: thing hanging over him in all the previous postseason addings.
- 11:05Speaker 2: He clearly deserved to keep pitching in this game. I
- 11:07Speaker 2: don't think anybody rightfully is going to look at this
- 11:09Speaker 2: situation and be like, Oh, they left Gossman in too long?
- 11:13Speaker 2: How dare they let him face the lineup a third
- 11:15Speaker 2: time through?
- 11:17Speaker 3: Now he got through the main guys, the main people
- 11:20Speaker 3: that people look at the third third, you know, I mean.
- 11:22Speaker 5: He was into the seventh inning. This is a great
- 11:24Speaker 5: job by him.
- 11:25Speaker 3: Well you gotta take him out, And I think he had like,
- 11:27Speaker 3: what's sixty going into the seventh inning. He was like,
- 11:30Speaker 3: it's sixty eight pitches or something. I mean, it wasn't
- 11:32Speaker 3: like his pitchgown was up either. I mean, this guy
- 11:34Speaker 3: was dominating. He'd retired like seventeen guys in a row
- 11:37Speaker 3: or some crazy number. They hadn't got to hit off
- 11:39Speaker 3: him since the first inning.
- 11:40Speaker 5: No, he was cruising.
- 11:41Speaker 3: He made a mistake and Will Smith beat him on
- 11:43Speaker 3: a pitch probably in off the plate, and then Max Munsey,
- 11:47Speaker 3: like we said, I don't know about that pitch election,
- 11:49Speaker 3: but hey, Max Montz, he's a pro hitter. He's got
- 11:51Speaker 3: the most homers in Dodgers history for a reason, postseason history,
- 11:55Speaker 3: because he can do this.
- 11:56Speaker 5: So I have no problem with leaving him in.
- 11:58Speaker 3: Plus, that's what's the one thing we all talked about
- 12:00Speaker 3: going into this series. The bullpens of both these teams
- 12:03Speaker 3: were kind of the question marks. Well, the longer you're
- 12:05Speaker 3: starting pitcher goes, guess what the less your bullpen has
- 12:08Speaker 3: to do. I don't have any problem with Leaven Kevin
- 12:10Speaker 3: Gosman at all. I thought he pitched great a j.
- 12:13Speaker 2: We didn't have you after Game one, so just to
- 12:16Speaker 2: mix that in here, I mean, this is fun for me.
- 12:19Speaker 2: I'm sure you're loving this too. What you just said
- 12:22Speaker 2: is not what we were saying for most postseasons in
- 12:25Speaker 2: the past almost decade at this point, right, I mean, managers.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Can't wait to take their starter out.
- 12:32Speaker 3: They can't, especially the Dodgers, especially the Dodgers and all
- 12:35Speaker 3: these runs they were.
- 12:36Speaker 5: Now it's a complete it's completely flip flop to.
- 12:39Speaker 3: Where Yamamoto Snell Glass now and show hey, they're like,
- 12:43Speaker 3: don't no, please please stay out there, especially with with
- 12:46Speaker 3: Vessi and not out there, and then some of the
- 12:48Speaker 3: other guys she and the way he pitched in Game one,
- 12:50Speaker 3: the way Bonda came in and gave up the Grand
- 12:52Speaker 3: Slam to Barger, I mean, Dave Roberts is like, no,
- 12:55Speaker 3: no starters, please go nine innings.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 13:00Speaker 2: It's fun, and that's the way for the Dodgers to
- 13:02Speaker 2: obviously feel really comfortable.
- 13:04Speaker 1: At some point.
- 13:04Speaker 2: There are going to be some tests in LA You
- 13:07Speaker 2: would presume that they're not going to get eight nine
- 13:10Speaker 2: innings from every starter, right, Some people thought that heading
- 13:12Speaker 2: into this series, and Snell was not as sharp as
- 13:15Speaker 2: he was in the prior outing. What we can do
- 13:19Speaker 2: is push forward for a few minutes here, and this
- 13:22Speaker 2: is a pretty big decision too. Game three is going
- 13:26Speaker 2: to be Max Scherzer and not Shane Bieber.
- 13:29Speaker 1: AJ. We had him on the other day, Beebs and
- 13:31Speaker 1: he was like, yeah, I don't know yet. I think
- 13:32Speaker 1: he actually didn't know if he was going to be
- 13:35Speaker 1: Game three or four. And they end up going with Scherzer.
- 13:38Speaker 2: I didn't get like a full on explanation from them
- 13:41Speaker 2: on why they're doing that, but thoughts on going Max
- 13:44Speaker 2: and then Bieber and then obviously if this series ends
- 13:48Speaker 2: up extending itself, how that would look like later.
- 13:51Speaker 1: On where you can have Max for what would that
- 13:55Speaker 1: be Game seven?
- 13:57Speaker 2: And I mean Bieber and Max would be available if
- 14:00Speaker 2: they both pitched pretty well, I guess you could have
- 14:03Speaker 2: Max and then Bieber out of the bullpen for less
- 14:06Speaker 2: than a full night's work.
- 14:08Speaker 3: That's why I thought the Bieber would throw Game three
- 14:10Speaker 3: so he could be lined up for Game seven. The thing,
- 14:13Speaker 3: the only reason I think that they didn't maybe do
- 14:15Speaker 3: that is, yes, he could probably come out of the
- 14:17Speaker 3: pen and you get to a game seven again, everything
- 14:19Speaker 3: is on the table at that point. Although with Gosman
- 14:21Speaker 3: throwing two that means he's gonna throw six I don't
- 14:23Speaker 3: know they bring him out of the pen if it
- 14:25Speaker 3: gets to a Game seven, especially if he starts Game six,
- 14:29Speaker 3: but they would probably have you Savage for an inning
- 14:32Speaker 3: or two. Scherzer would probably start. He'd be like an opener,
- 14:35Speaker 3: and then they just use everybody they can, including Bieber.
- 14:38Speaker 3: But remember when we talked to Shane Bieber the other day,
- 14:40Speaker 3: what did I ask him about Tommy John Everyone says this,
- 14:42Speaker 3: especially when you're first coming back, you have one good start,
- 14:45Speaker 3: you have one bat start, you have one good story,
- 14:47Speaker 3: you have one bat start.
- 14:48Speaker 5: And he kind of talked about that.
- 14:49Speaker 3: Remember when we had him on the other day where
- 14:51Speaker 3: he said, ah, yeah, it's weird. It's like I have
- 14:53Speaker 3: really good stuff and the next time I feel like
- 14:55Speaker 3: I have the good stuff. But it's not the same, right,
- 14:57Speaker 3: and his numbers in the postseason are showing that. So
- 15:00Speaker 3: maybe they just want him to really focus on Game
- 15:02Speaker 3: four and say, give us the best thing you have
- 15:04Speaker 3: in Game four?
- 15:04Speaker 5: Will let Max Max can bounce back. I don't know.
- 15:08Speaker 3: I would have gone Bieber, but it's not my decision.
- 15:10Speaker 3: John Schneider knows this team better than I do, so
- 15:13Speaker 3: we'll see how it works out.
- 15:14Speaker 4: What about this aj What about the fact that they
- 15:17Speaker 4: have an off day tomorrow. Who do you think is
- 15:20Speaker 4: going to go longer, Bieber or Sureser. I would think
- 15:24Speaker 4: I would think Bieber. I would think Bieber. And so
- 15:28Speaker 4: you have a fresh bullpen going into tomorrow's game, like
- 15:31Speaker 4: Game three, I know you don't want to burn all
- 15:33Speaker 4: these dudes out because you've got three games in a row.
- 15:36Speaker 4: But to me, maybe if if Schurzer goes, maybe they
- 15:40Speaker 4: think they get less length and there's a chance there's
- 15:44Speaker 4: a chance they can they can really go early. Which
- 15:47Speaker 4: besides tonight, every other night, John Schneider has just run
- 15:51Speaker 4: to his bullpen. Now the guys are gonna be fresh
- 15:53Speaker 4: off of an off day, So maybe we go with
- 15:56Speaker 4: a guy that gives us less length. And like you
- 15:59Speaker 4: said about Shurs opener in the seventh in Game seven,
- 16:02Speaker 4: maybe he's more like an opener. Again, obviously, if it
- 16:05Speaker 4: gives you what he gave you last time and your
- 16:07Speaker 4: team goes up by four runs, it's different. But maybe
- 16:10Speaker 4: that goes into it.
- 16:12Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a good point.
- 16:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I mean I like that point.
- 16:15Speaker 3: It's just it's just then if you know, if you're
- 16:18Speaker 3: and I don't think anyone thinks that the Blue Jays
- 16:20Speaker 3: are gonna go to LA and win all three games.
- 16:22Speaker 5: Right, I mean I don't think that.
- 16:24Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 16:24Speaker 5: Maybe I'm sure blue Jays fans are hoping that, but in.
- 16:27Speaker 3: All reality, I don't know they're gonna go to LA
- 16:28Speaker 3: and win all three games, right, So you got to
- 16:31Speaker 3: be start planning ahead for six and seven to get
- 16:34Speaker 3: back home, right. So yeah, it's great, but if you know,
- 16:39Speaker 3: if you're planning on using your bullpen, then what happens
- 16:41Speaker 3: if Shane Bieber goes out and doesn't have a Greek
- 16:42Speaker 3: You know, it's like you can't really you got to
- 16:44Speaker 3: think of the long haul, and maybe that's the way
- 16:46Speaker 3: to go. But man, I'm thinking if that, if the
- 16:48Speaker 3: Blue Jays are gonna win this, they're gonna have to
- 16:49Speaker 3: win in six or seven and I'm gonna need all
- 16:51Speaker 3: hands on deck for seven games.
- 16:53Speaker 5: We're just worried about Game three, but we'll see.
- 16:56Speaker 1: What about for LA?
- 16:58Speaker 2: So I like how the hitting coach for the Blue Jays,
- 17:01Speaker 2: he's gotten a lot of love. Dave Popkins called them
- 17:03Speaker 2: the mon Stars. So he was like, all right, next month,
- 17:05Speaker 2: star up is Yamamoto And he was like that if
- 17:08Speaker 2: you're a Space Jam the movie fan the original one.
- 17:10Speaker 1: I didn't watched the next one. I'm an MJ guy.
- 17:13Speaker 2: But anyway, AJ, what do you think of glass Now
- 17:16Speaker 2: coming up next here in game three? And then of
- 17:18Speaker 2: course we'll get Otani in game four? But glass Now
- 17:21Speaker 2: against this Blue Jays offense, Like, I mean, obviously we
- 17:25Speaker 2: don't know what's gonna happen here, but do you think
- 17:26Speaker 2: that it will look like? Do you think this is
- 17:29Speaker 2: more of a Snell matchup or Yamamoto matchup for them?
- 17:31Speaker 2: Can class now take a page out of what Yamamoto
- 17:35Speaker 2: just did? I mean, he doesn't have as many pitches,
- 17:36Speaker 2: obviously Yamamoto is. He mixes it up so well. But
- 17:40Speaker 2: what do you think about game three?
- 17:41Speaker 3: My think if there's anything that it showed you as
- 17:43Speaker 3: you can throw curveballs against the Blue Jays, because Yamamoto
- 17:45Speaker 3: did that tonight in huge spots, right, he went to
- 17:48Speaker 3: the curveball. Glass Out throws the bigger curveball. Glass Ill's
- 17:51Speaker 3: not going to give you seven, eight, nine innings if
- 17:53Speaker 3: he gets into the seventh. That's a great star for
- 17:54Speaker 3: Glassdown usually throws too many pitches and he gets a
- 17:56Speaker 3: lot of foul balls, so his pitchcown gets run up.
- 17:59Speaker 3: The one thing I think the Blue Jays have to
- 18:00Speaker 3: do if they get somebody on base, they gotta run
- 18:02Speaker 3: because you can run on Tyler Glass.
- 18:04Speaker 5: Now.
- 18:04Speaker 3: I know wil Smith's decent back there, but you got it.
- 18:06Speaker 3: If you got if you get guys on base, you
- 18:08Speaker 3: gotta go.
- 18:08Speaker 5: And you gotta go, and you gotta put pressure.
- 18:10Speaker 3: On the Dodgers and try because listen, glassnow doesn't give
- 18:14Speaker 3: up a ton of home runs, and he's gonna punch
- 18:16Speaker 3: out some dudes. So I think if I'm the Blue Jays,
- 18:18Speaker 3: I'm like, okay, boys, if we get on first and
- 18:20Speaker 3: you can run a little bit, Jimenez and Barger and
- 18:23Speaker 3: some of these other guys, you know that, Lucas and
- 18:25Speaker 3: some of these other guys, even maybe Springer because he
- 18:27Speaker 3: looked like he was moving pretty good tonight.
- 18:29Speaker 5: Like you gotta go.
- 18:30Speaker 3: You got to push the envelope a little bit, because again,
- 18:32Speaker 3: it's so hard against these Dodgers guys. Yes they did
- 18:34Speaker 3: in Game one, but it wasn't really on Snell. It
- 18:36Speaker 3: was more on the bullpen guys to get multiple hits
- 18:39Speaker 3: in a row off of this Dodger starting rotation. It's
- 18:43Speaker 3: so tough because their stuff is so good. You got
- 18:45Speaker 3: to hit a home run or you got to take
- 18:46Speaker 3: the extra base and put pressure on these guys.
- 18:50Speaker 4: I mean Glassnouse, glass Nouse top of his own curveball. Yes,
- 18:54Speaker 4: he can throw the curveball, but he's not like, ooh,
- 18:56Speaker 4: I'm gonna I'm gonna flip in here a strike curveball.
- 19:00Speaker 4: Then it's all max effort. It's banger rang from get go. Yes,
- 19:05Speaker 4: it might start high and landing the strike zone, but
- 19:08Speaker 4: guys aren't really swinging that at that, And then it's
- 19:10Speaker 4: gonna be the yard dart that's two feet in front
- 19:13Speaker 4: of home plate that Will Smith has to block up.
- 19:16Speaker 4: And so that high fastball. If Glass now is gonna
- 19:20Speaker 4: go deep, it's gonna be because he's able to land
- 19:23Speaker 4: his fastball or something in the zone. The Jays showed
- 19:28Speaker 4: Snell was throwing a heater high in the zone and
- 19:31Speaker 4: they were laying off it.
- 19:32Speaker 5: It was borderline.
- 19:32Speaker 4: He wasn't getting many calls up at the top of
- 19:34Speaker 4: the zone and they just weren't swinging at it. If
- 19:37Speaker 4: they had the same approach, I get it's from the
- 19:39Speaker 4: right side, so it's gonna be a little bit different.
- 19:41Speaker 4: They have a lot of rights in their lineup. But
- 19:43Speaker 4: if they have the same approach, lay off that heater
- 19:46Speaker 4: up and anything spinning, they're just not swinging at it.
- 19:50Speaker 4: I think they're gonna knock glass Now out. He might
- 19:52Speaker 4: get more punchouts than you would think, but he could
- 19:55Speaker 4: mix in three, four, five walks and that's all what
- 19:59Speaker 4: they're looking for. Because do you not want the bullpen
- 20:01Speaker 4: to come in?
- 20:03Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 20:04Speaker 2: I mean this is where things get interesting as the
- 20:06Speaker 2: series goes to La. I mean, the Dodgers have to
- 20:09Speaker 2: feel good about getting one game in Toronto.
- 20:11Speaker 1: I think the Blue Jays feel good about getting one game.
- 20:13Speaker 2: I don't think they're like, of course, the players, but
- 20:16Speaker 2: I'm just saying, like, if you're looking at this from
- 20:18Speaker 2: a management standpoint, you took one at a two here,
- 20:20Speaker 2: look what happened last round where they lost both and
- 20:23Speaker 2: they were able to come back.
- 20:24Speaker 1: This has been a really good comeback team.
- 20:25Speaker 2: But now glass Now stuff wise or Tawny stuff wise,
- 20:29Speaker 2: it's a pretty big advantage. It doesn't mean they're going
- 20:31Speaker 2: to execute, but it's a pretty big advantage. Last thing
- 20:34Speaker 2: here for me pushing forward because we didn't get to
- 20:36Speaker 2: this with you AJ on Friday, Bobachett. Bobaschett is not
- 20:41Speaker 2: only on the roster, but then starts in game one,
- 20:44Speaker 2: had some good moments.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Game two.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Here doesn't start and they're trying to take care of him.
- 20:49Speaker 2: It's a really tough spot. I mean, he doesn't play
- 20:52Speaker 2: for almost seven weeks, comes back, contributes looked really good
- 20:56Speaker 2: on that one play at second base in game one,
- 20:59Speaker 2: and then I KF gets the start here and Bo
- 21:02Speaker 2: pops up for a pinch hit appearance. So how would
- 21:05Speaker 2: you use him going forward? How do you think the
- 21:08Speaker 2: Blue Jays are going to do this?
- 21:14Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 21:15Speaker 3: This sucks because did you see him run when he
- 21:17Speaker 3: hit the ground ball a short tonight? When he came
- 21:19Speaker 3: in like it was it wasn't a it wasn't a
- 21:23Speaker 3: little it wasn't an unnoticeable limp that he had going
- 21:26Speaker 3: down there. I'll just say that he wasn't moving his best.
- 21:28Speaker 3: He has that big, bulky kneebres on.
- 21:30Speaker 5: Now.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Yeah, he brought a spark in Game one. He got
- 21:33Speaker 3: that little squibber hit to the right side. But yeah,
- 21:38Speaker 3: it's it's like he's on a rehab assignment in the
- 21:41Speaker 3: middle of the World Series. It's so if he starts
- 21:44Speaker 3: in game one against snow Why don't you start him
- 21:46Speaker 3: game two unless it's knee. I don't know, man, It
- 21:49Speaker 3: sucks for the Blue Jays, it sucks for Boba Shitt
- 21:52Speaker 3: and I don't know what they're gonna do because he
- 21:55Speaker 3: doesn't look right.
- 21:56Speaker 5: He's not moving right.
- 21:57Speaker 3: But I know he wants to play, and he's really
- 22:00Speaker 3: good when he does play. But you also can't have
- 22:02Speaker 3: him play if he's not all there. It's just a
- 22:04Speaker 3: it's a bad situation.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Yeah, manager Crafts, you're hired, your manager John Schneider, your
- 22:13Speaker 2: old roommate, you need to quick cameo or you're you're
- 22:16Speaker 2: his right hand man, and he's like, hey, what do
- 22:18Speaker 2: I do here? At least for the next couple games, right,
- 22:21Speaker 2: knowing that also he might not bounce back as quickly,
- 22:24Speaker 2: so you you got to pick and choose your spots.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Don't care.
- 22:27Speaker 4: I don't care. I know before this series how he's
- 22:30Speaker 4: going to bounce back, Like I know, we saw all
- 22:32Speaker 4: these videos of him doing, you know, just jogging at
- 22:36Speaker 4: sixty percent around the basis. This training staff put him
- 22:40Speaker 4: through the rigors of what it would feel like to
- 22:45Speaker 4: play in a game for six innings. They do everything
- 22:47Speaker 4: based on a time basis, so he's on his feet.
- 22:50Speaker 4: He knows how he's bouncing back. To me, he doesn't.
- 22:54Speaker 4: It's one of two options. He's either playing every game
- 22:57Speaker 4: all seven, or he's not on roster. I think because
- 23:02Speaker 4: he gives you too much, he doesn't give you enough flexibility.
- 23:05Speaker 4: I don't care if he only play six innings. I
- 23:07Speaker 4: get it to IKF is a better option at second
- 23:09Speaker 4: base for him later in the games if his bat
- 23:14Speaker 4: is in is available to me. He's not coming off
- 23:17Speaker 4: the bench ever he is. He is playing the first
- 23:21Speaker 4: six innings of every game, like you can't. You have
- 23:24Speaker 4: to get three at bats out of him, or he's
- 23:25Speaker 4: not on the roster. And so I was very surprised
- 23:28Speaker 4: about this, especially we just talked about they have a
- 23:31Speaker 4: day off tomorrow.
- 23:31Speaker 5: If he's not bouncing back.
- 23:33Speaker 4: I get it. They have a flight. Maybe the thing
- 23:34Speaker 4: will blow up on the flight. Then you maybe sit
- 23:37Speaker 4: game three if you can't get the swelling down. But
- 23:40Speaker 4: I've seen some miracles happen in the postseason where you
- 23:43Speaker 4: get some swelling that just didn't like, never went down
- 23:48Speaker 4: like it just and you figure it out for a
- 23:51Speaker 4: World Series game, you figure it out for an NLCS game.
- 23:54Speaker 4: I've seen it firsthand. Like, I was very surprised he
- 23:57Speaker 4: didn't start tonight.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, I like that. I mean, You've got Bo
- 24:03Speaker 2: on the roster for offense. I'm saying that because, yeah,
- 24:06Speaker 2: like you mentioned, there's better defensive options. He's not one
- 24:08Speaker 2: hundred percent running all that, but he says he feels
- 24:11Speaker 2: okay at the plate and coming off what just happened here?
- 24:14Speaker 2: I mean, Yamamoto was a clinic but coming off what
- 24:17Speaker 2: just happened here? Yeah, maybe they roll out Bo early
- 24:20Speaker 2: on in games and see how they do here. A
- 24:22Speaker 2: couple things on our way out. First of all, we
- 24:24Speaker 2: did a YouTube poll chat and no surprise here AJ.
- 24:28Speaker 2: So we asked people if they think that the series
- 24:31Speaker 2: will head back to Toronto.
- 24:32Speaker 1: Forty percent said yes, sixty percent said no.
- 24:36Speaker 2: Really, for me, a poll like that is also somewhat
- 24:38Speaker 2: of an indication of who's watching right now.
- 24:43Speaker 3: I voted yes. I voted yes on that poll, by
- 24:45Speaker 3: the way, so I lost it, but I voted yes.
- 24:47Speaker 2: Now, it only doesn't return if one team wins three
- 24:50Speaker 2: games in a row, which these are two good teams.
- 24:53Speaker 1: It's not likely to happen.
- 24:54Speaker 3: Listen, I wanted to go back to Toronto, because that
- 24:57Speaker 3: means we have a good series, Like I don't want
- 24:59Speaker 3: it to be over after five, Like let's go to
- 25:01Speaker 3: six at least, and so that way we can get
- 25:04Speaker 3: more baseball, longer baseball. But yeah, I think I think
- 25:08Speaker 3: the Blue Jays figure out a way to get it.
- 25:10Speaker 5: Back to Toronto. At a minimum.
- 25:11Speaker 3: I don't think they're gonna win all three games in LA,
- 25:13Speaker 3: and I don't think the Dodgers are gonna.
- 25:14Speaker 5: Win all three games in all. I think they figure
- 25:16Speaker 5: out a way to win one and we go back
- 25:18Speaker 5: to Toronto.
- 25:19Speaker 1: No doubt.
- 25:19Speaker 2: Yeah, I think a team will take two out of three,
- 25:22Speaker 2: likely the Dodgers, and we'll swing back.
- 25:25Speaker 1: So I'm asking in the chat, we are we're not
- 25:27Speaker 1: sad today.
- 25:28Speaker 2: We pumped up Yamamoto for the first eight minutes of
- 25:30Speaker 2: the show. So if you're just joining us now, then
- 25:33Speaker 2: good news. Everything on YouTube you can scroll back on,

- 26:06Speaker 1: I love that feature.
- 26:07Speaker 2: And a shout out to Fox One for being presenting

- 26:14Speaker 2: shows for the postseason than ever. Many thanks to Fox
- 26:17Speaker 2: One supporting us and also we're supporting them brand new
- 26:19Speaker 2: app that's where you watch the World Series.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Oh yeah, by the way, did you guys see this
- 26:23Speaker 3: last And I know I wasn't on the post game
- 26:24Speaker 3: last night, but did you see the Addison Barger thing
- 26:27Speaker 3: where he slept on the couch?
- 26:28Speaker 5: Which was awesome? Because that's how you had to do it.
- 26:31Speaker 3: Because I don't know if y'all talked about it or not,
- 26:33Speaker 3: but where Because in the postseason, what people don't realize
- 26:36Speaker 3: is your lease goes out. You only usually sign a
- 26:39Speaker 3: lease till the end of September and then I remember
- 26:41Speaker 3: we were in the World Series. I lived in a
- 26:43Speaker 3: hotel for a month because we kept winning in Chicago,
- 26:45Speaker 3: and so I had to stay in a lease, and
- 26:47Speaker 3: I was in a rental house and my lease was
- 26:48Speaker 3: up on the end of September October hit you had
- 26:50Speaker 3: to move into a hotel and you checked in and out.
- 26:52Speaker 3: It was a real pain of the ass. So it's
- 26:54Speaker 3: pretty cool. We got to live on the couch. And
- 26:56Speaker 3: then the other funny thing. I thought that was awesome
- 26:57Speaker 3: what he did is he got my dog Suret David Ortiz,
- 27:00Speaker 3: and he left it because he said that had Red
- 27:02Speaker 3: Sox shit on it. I'm bringing that into our club out.
- 27:04Speaker 3: I thought that was kind of awesome too. Nothing against David,
- 27:07Speaker 3: but you know, the Red Sox and Blue Jays are
- 27:09Speaker 3: kind of a rival, and he's like, yeah, basically it
- 27:11Speaker 3: has Red Sox.
- 27:11Speaker 5: I don't want that bad Mojo winmar in our clubhouse.
- 27:15Speaker 1: That's so good. It's funny.
- 27:16Speaker 2: I actually wrote that down as my last thing, and
- 27:18Speaker 2: I didn't puld it, so I forgot. So I'm glad
- 27:20Speaker 2: you brought that up. Both things are great, and also
- 27:21Speaker 2: every there were a lot of jokes online like it's
- 27:25Speaker 2: okay if Barger doesn't hit a home run tonight because
- 27:27Speaker 2: then he's going to get better sleep.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Long term for his back.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Because if he hits a Homer does something big and
- 27:34Speaker 2: the blue Jays win, I mean, you know, superstitions, Aja,
- 27:38Speaker 2: it would be hard if the blue Jays win and
- 27:39Speaker 2: he hits a dinger, like they're gonna find a pull
- 27:42Speaker 2: out couch for him in La and make him sleep
- 27:45Speaker 2: on it. Now he can live his life again. So
- 27:47Speaker 2: Addison Barger, even though he lost, he won tonight. He
- 27:49Speaker 2: got his he got his back back.
- 27:51Speaker 5: Yeah. No, the pull couches are the worst.
- 27:54Speaker 3: They're almost as bad as blow up mattresses, Like, uh.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Well, black patches are terrible there. It's just like sleeping
- 28:01Speaker 1: on us.
- 28:02Speaker 5: Why is the bar always in the worst spot possible?
- 28:04Speaker 3: Like the bars they're like they're always they can't ever
- 28:08Speaker 3: be in the right spot. You try to lay sideways, diagonal,
