Latest / FPL Pod / S9 Ep1: FPL Pod: Welcome back FPL 2026/27
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Well hello again.
- 0:01Speaker 2: I don't know what's a bigger surprise, the fact the
- 0:03Speaker 2: FBI is back already when the World Cup has only
- 0:05Speaker 2: just finished, or the fact that, yep, you guessed it,
- 0:08Speaker 2: the three of us have been let loose on the
- 0:10Speaker 2: FPL pod for another season. It turns out you guys,
- 0:13Speaker 2: actually well, someone is listening to us each week as
- 0:17Speaker 2: we are back. There's a few weeks to go, but
- 0:19Speaker 2: the game is now live and we have been having
- 0:23Speaker 2: a little look and we're going to give you our
- 0:25Speaker 2: first thoughts. Firstly, Sam Jewels, we should say welcome to
- 0:28Speaker 2: our new listeners as well. I'm assuming that everyone knowses,
- 0:31Speaker 2: but of course Kelly Summers joined by Sam Bonfield and
- 0:34Speaker 2: Julian Larron.
- 0:35Speaker 1: Firstie, Sam, how's you some of him?
- 0:37Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been good, thank you. It's been quite a
- 0:39Speaker 3: lot of football for a summer off, hasn't there. So
- 0:41Speaker 3: it's been quite busy, but you know, nonetheless we are
- 0:45Speaker 3: ready to go for another Premier League season.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Now, how's your bronze medal? Jewels? Oh?
- 0:49Speaker 4: Sorry, I mean, who remembers when you finished third or fourth?
- 0:55Speaker 4: But you know, people remember France wonder World Cup in
- 0:57Speaker 4: twenty eighteen and nineteen ninety eight. You know, so that's
- 0:59Speaker 4: the most important on my guest case. But I did
- 1:01Speaker 4: think of you in that game between France and England
- 1:04Speaker 4: or you know, that basketball match, the the all Star
- 1:06Speaker 4: game of the World Cup as I like to call it.
- 1:10Speaker 4: The World Cup was wet, and I want I want
- 1:12Speaker 4: to say as well, everywhere I went in the US
- 1:16Speaker 4: and Canada in this summer, like I met so many
- 1:20Speaker 4: people fan of the show, fun of FBL everywhere, like
- 1:23Speaker 4: in Toronto, in New York, in.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Boston, Boston, there was loss.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Yeah I agree, I mean in Toronto as well. It
- 1:32Speaker 4: was incredible. So you know, big shout out to everybody
- 1:35Speaker 4: that I met and discussed the field with during the
- 1:37Speaker 4: World Cup because I was really cool and and yeah
- 1:41Speaker 4: it's great because it shows the game he's doing so
- 1:43Speaker 4: well all around the world.
- 1:45Speaker 2: I just interewed Stormsy pitched side and someone shouted at
- 1:47Speaker 2: me and I was like, oh, it's going to be
- 1:49Speaker 2: something like that love the FPL pod and like it
- 1:52Speaker 2: was such a weird at that moment where you're doing
- 1:54Speaker 2: something completely different. I was like, oh, thanks, thanks now,
- 1:58Speaker 2: but yeah see next season. But yeah, anyway, myself and
- 2:00Speaker 2: Joys have of course been away. I literally got back.
- 2:03Speaker 2: We're recording this a bit earlier in the week, and
- 2:04Speaker 2: I literally got back a few hours ago. So if
- 2:06Speaker 2: my maths and my common sense is even worse than usual,
- 2:09Speaker 2: please please let me off.
- 2:10Speaker 1: I've not slept for forty eight hours. Thanks.
- 2:13Speaker 2: That's actually thanks to England going to that game in
- 2:15Speaker 2: Miami because they know how to go straight to New York. Anyway,
- 2:18Speaker 2: very lucky to do the job we do and very
- 2:20Speaker 2: lucky to be back. Also, great to see a few
- 2:22Speaker 2: FPL players or loads of FPL players, didn't we And
- 2:24Speaker 2: I know there was a lot of you Sam playing
- 2:26Speaker 2: the Fantasy game during the World Cup as well, so
- 2:28Speaker 2: it hasn't stopped for a lot of you. But great
- 2:30Speaker 2: to see fantasy players doing really well. We saw a
- 2:32Speaker 2: lot of them on the world stage, and there were
- 2:34Speaker 2: seven Premier League players from Spain, wasn't there. So yeah,
- 2:38Speaker 2: I'm wondering before we go any further on this, if
- 2:40Speaker 2: we also need to bear in mind the World Cups
- 2:43Speaker 2: and when we are starting our chat and starting our selections,
- 2:46Speaker 2: because we've picked a team and actually there was a
- 2:49Speaker 2: couple of players I put straight in and then took
- 2:50Speaker 2: straight back out because I thought, oh, they'd played quite
- 2:53Speaker 2: a lot. They're not having a very big break.
- 2:55Speaker 3: No, and they're entitled to a break, so they'll go
- 2:57Speaker 3: off and have a little bit of a break and
- 2:58Speaker 3: they'll join preseason late. So obviously that will have an impact,
- 3:02Speaker 3: particularly the ones that played with the four teams that
- 3:05Speaker 3: competed at the weekend. So obviously the Spaniards and the
- 3:08Speaker 3: Argentinians and the French and the English, those players have
- 3:10Speaker 3: gone longer in the tournament than anybody else. They'll go
- 3:13Speaker 3: back later than anyone else to their premier league teams,
- 3:15Speaker 3: and that might have an impact on the players that
- 3:17Speaker 3: you want to select, not just in terms of them,
- 3:20Speaker 3: but whether you want to select the people that might
- 3:23Speaker 3: play instead of them in the early weeks of the season,
- 3:25Speaker 3: because that might just cause you a headache a couple
- 3:27Speaker 3: of weeks down the line, why you've got to take
- 3:29Speaker 3: them out and swap them back over again.
- 3:30Speaker 1: So it is just something to consider.
- 3:32Speaker 3: We saw it after the Euros a couple of years
- 3:35Speaker 3: ago that we had a bit of rotation in those
- 3:38Speaker 3: early weeks as players kind of were eased back in
- 3:40Speaker 3: a little bit more and we're getting back up to
- 3:42Speaker 3: full speed ahead of the new season, So yeah, something
- 3:44Speaker 3: definitely to be mindful of picking your first team of
- 3:47Speaker 3: the season in FL.
- 3:48Speaker 2: I'm very aware that if you are listening to this
- 3:50Speaker 2: right now, all you probably want to do is hear
- 3:52Speaker 2: our teams, hear a bit more about the prices and everything.
- 3:54Speaker 2: But before we do that, duels, it would be remissive
- 3:56Speaker 2: us not to ask who kind of caught your eye
- 3:59Speaker 2: from the league players at the World Cup, because conversely
- 4:02Speaker 2: to what Sam said, then yes we need to bearn
- 4:03Speaker 2: mind tiredness, but also some of that form could kind
- 4:06Speaker 2: of run into the new season.
- 4:08Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, I mean, and as we said, there was
- 4:10Speaker 4: a lot of players from the Premier League playing with
- 4:12Speaker 4: the countries at the World Cup. Obviously the Spanish team won,
- 4:16Speaker 4: and well done to Spain. Well done to players like
- 4:18Speaker 4: Pedro Poto, who was outstanding I thought through the whole.
- 4:20Speaker 1: Tournament, from a relegation battle to that exactly.
- 4:23Speaker 4: It's you know, scoring against my beloved France in the
- 4:26Speaker 4: semis as well, a lovely goal.
- 4:27Speaker 5: I mean, we lost for Korea.
- 4:28Speaker 4: I was going back to Spain obviously, so won't be
- 4:30Speaker 4: playing in the prem in IFPL team next season. But
- 4:34Speaker 4: player like Rodrie player off the tournament and well deserved
- 4:37Speaker 4: as well, who was outstanding all.
- 4:39Speaker 5: Along with Spain, I.
- 4:42Speaker 4: Thought you were Tillment did really well for example with Belgium.
- 4:45Speaker 4: I thought Earlin halland did obviously really well with Norway
- 4:48Speaker 4: apart from maybe the Indiand game in the quarterfinals, but
- 4:50Speaker 4: up to that point for his first World Cup that
- 4:52Speaker 4: was very conclusive. I think Martinodeguard did well too for
- 4:56Speaker 4: inverts in a very difficult time with Germany, I.
- 4:58Speaker 5: Think still showed talent. We're so good.
- 5:01Speaker 4: Munos with Columbia is my lassa with Senegal although their
- 5:04Speaker 4: teams were in the end maybe not didn't go as
- 5:06Speaker 4: far as they would have hoped. So Sam with Brazil
- 5:09Speaker 4: and Brunogi Maresh for example, and and some new faces
- 5:13Speaker 4: that we will have in the Premi League like Juan
- 5:14Speaker 4: man Zombie who had a really good tournament with Switzerland
- 5:17Speaker 4: before getting injured and before signing for aston Villa as well.
- 5:21Speaker 4: So I thought overall the Premier League did really well
- 5:23Speaker 4: in terms of the players representing them at the World.
- 5:26Speaker 2: You know, I love chipping in with my England contributions here,
- 5:28Speaker 2: but I think all of England's goal scorers pretty much
- 5:30Speaker 2: don't play in the Premier League do they?
- 5:31Speaker 1: So that was absolutely useless to us in FPR?
- 5:34Speaker 4: Was it?
- 5:34Speaker 2: Jud Bellingham, Harry Kane, Marcus could be back?
- 5:38Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 5:38Speaker 1: Oh yeah, oh yeah, all of us.
- 5:40Speaker 2: All of a sudden we all count in the bronze game,
- 5:42Speaker 2: I forgot the Golden boot like that. You know so
- 5:46Speaker 2: well early spoiler, Actually that hat trick might have had
- 5:48Speaker 2: an input into my team because he says he's flipped.
- 5:52Speaker 2: He said it to me after that game. So anyway,
- 5:54Speaker 2: let's move on then, because we have seen the prices.
- 5:57Speaker 2: I reckon a lot of people might have actually skipped
- 5:58Speaker 2: at this point to ignore our World Cup waffle. This
- 6:01Speaker 2: is where it gets real, isn't it. This is where
- 6:03Speaker 2: the fun begins. We've seen the prices, we're able to
- 6:05Speaker 2: build our teams, and my gosh, Sam, it is hard.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I always do premiums. First.
- 6:11Speaker 3: I did that, then I have no money left. I
- 6:15Speaker 3: feel like I feel like that's always what you do
- 6:17Speaker 3: the cals, isn't it.
- 6:18Speaker 2: You do know that's more of a Jewels move than
- 6:20Speaker 2: me though, in terms of like all of the money
- 6:22Speaker 2: on the good players and then the three million pound bench.
- 6:25Speaker 1: That's a very.
- 6:25Speaker 5: Jewels move, absolutely, you know. I like big brands I also.
- 6:30Speaker 3: Think it's hard, isn't it, because you go back to
- 6:33Speaker 3: kind of the last thing that you knew when it
- 6:35Speaker 3: comes to picking an FBL team, so you automatically go, well,
- 6:38Speaker 3: these players were great for me last season, and of
- 6:39Speaker 3: course the players that were great last season are the
- 6:41Speaker 3: ones that take price rises for the new season.
- 6:43Speaker 1: So it is hard because you look at it and
- 6:45Speaker 1: you go, well.
- 6:45Speaker 3: Last season, I owned all of these players in the
- 6:47Speaker 3: team and it was lovely and I had, you know,
- 6:50Speaker 3: all of these decent premium options, and then this year
- 6:53Speaker 3: you look at them and go, oh, they're slightly more
- 6:55Speaker 3: expensive this year. So that's affecting the way that the
- 6:57Speaker 3: rest of my team looks. And of course some of
- 6:59Speaker 3: them have che clubs, some of them have changed positions,
- 7:02Speaker 3: so that has an impact too. So yes, it is
- 7:05Speaker 3: definitely hard. I'm the same care as I put in
- 7:09Speaker 3: some premiums and then I work around the edges and
- 7:11Speaker 3: see where we go, and I take players in and out.
- 7:13Speaker 3: And I think with my first draft, I was trying
- 7:16Speaker 3: and just hit price points. That for me is the
- 7:18Speaker 3: most important thing. Try and hit some price points because
- 7:20Speaker 3: I know that I won't get everything right in this
- 7:22Speaker 3: first draft and I certainly won't get everything right in
- 7:25Speaker 3: the game week one team, so I need to have
- 7:27Speaker 3: flexibility in that squad that I can move around. And
- 7:30Speaker 3: if you hit the price points nicely, then it gives
- 7:31Speaker 3: you the flexibility to be able to do that.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Jules, did you do premiums first? Who were the first
- 7:36Speaker 1: names on your team?
- 7:36Speaker 4: Shoet Erling halland and then and then gabriel So I did,
- 7:42Speaker 4: like you know or interesting?
- 7:46Speaker 1: That is surprise?
- 7:49Speaker 5: Always expensive, Yeah, it is expensive. Can we reveal how
- 7:53Speaker 5: much Gabrielle is now? Are we allowed? Yeah?
- 7:56Speaker 4: Yes, eight eight million, if I'm not mistaken, of the
- 8:00Speaker 4: most expensive of all defenders. And let's not forget he
- 8:04Speaker 4: would be with that William Saliba for certainly the start
- 8:07Speaker 4: of the season and then we're not really sure exactly
- 8:09Speaker 4: for how long. And I think what made Gabrielle very
- 8:12Speaker 4: good as well was the association with Saliba a center
- 8:15Speaker 4: back for Arsenal, Gabrielle with I don't know, Mosquerra, Gabrielle
- 8:19Speaker 4: with Timber gabriel with Incaprio, whoever is the new partner
- 8:23Speaker 4: for gabriel at the start of the season for Arsenal,
- 8:26Speaker 4: my impact a bit his form, but I still think
- 8:29Speaker 4: that he's the best defender in the league. With Saliba
- 8:32Speaker 4: and Saliban now being there, if you can afford Gabrielle
- 8:35Speaker 4: also for the attacking threat that we.
- 8:37Speaker 5: Expect will still be there.
- 8:38Speaker 4: From an arsenal point of view, I think if you
- 8:41Speaker 4: can afford him, then he has a place in your team.
- 8:43Speaker 5: I should have.
- 8:45Speaker 2: I guess this is where we're going to differ slightly,
- 8:47Speaker 2: isn't it, because obviously I've Bruno is the first name
- 8:49Speaker 2: in my team set, which that means you have to
- 8:50Speaker 2: you have to make compromises somewhere, don't you. So Sam,
- 8:53Speaker 2: you want me to run Me and George just itching
- 8:56Speaker 2: to get into our teams and talk about we can
- 8:58Speaker 2: do the changes afterwards.
- 8:58Speaker 1: We can do the teams first if you want, and
- 9:00Speaker 1: we can do the changes afterwards.
- 9:01Speaker 2: Okay, there's the school teacher in Sam. Sometimes Actually I'll
- 9:05Speaker 2: do I'll do the right thing, and I'll do that.
- 9:06Speaker 2: I'll do the changes. Okay, So this you can say
- 9:09Speaker 2: it's not as manute to be fair. No, it's and
- 9:12Speaker 2: it's I don't want to say it's boring. It's not
- 9:14Speaker 2: boring because you need to know it to play the game.
- 9:16Speaker 2: But there's not like last year, there was a lot
- 9:17Speaker 2: more headlines, but probably is worth listening to this, but
- 9:19Speaker 2: just to make.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Sure you are across everything so you don't get caught out.
- 9:22Speaker 2: But I am going to be reading off a script,
- 9:23Speaker 2: so sorry about that because I don't want to get
- 9:25Speaker 2: it wrong. So there's going to be two sets of
- 9:27Speaker 2: chips again, that's the good news.
- 9:29Speaker 1: That was brilliant, wasn't it.
- 9:29Speaker 2: There's one t using in the first half of the
- 9:31Speaker 2: season and the second set the second half of the season.
- 9:33Speaker 2: The chips are going to remain exactly the same, so
- 9:35Speaker 2: you're still going to have your bench boost, triple caps,
- 9:37Speaker 2: and free hit chips as well as your wild card.
- 9:40Speaker 2: There's loads of change. There's loads of videos, by the way,
- 9:41Speaker 2: on social media as well, if you do want to
- 9:43Speaker 2: check out a little bit more about that I really liked.
- 9:46Speaker 1: I'll come on that one in a bit.
- 9:47Speaker 2: I'm like an overexcited child. Sorry the first one. Then
- 9:50Speaker 2: live updates. This is what I'm excited about. Actually this season,
- 9:52Speaker 2: your FPL rank and league positions will actually update in
- 9:55Speaker 2: real time, and I know that this is something that
- 9:57Speaker 2: really annoys managers having to wait after the to find
- 10:00Speaker 2: out about bonus points and things so literally, if a
- 10:03Speaker 2: player scores, you can go on and check it out.
- 10:05Speaker 2: It will be reflected in your total points and in
- 10:07Speaker 2: your league positions. Of course, the worst thing about that, though,
- 10:10Speaker 2: is if they lose those buonous points, don't get carried
- 10:12Speaker 2: away because they will get knocked off. The game will
- 10:14Speaker 2: also update at nine am the morning after the final
- 10:16Speaker 2: fixture of the game week, so we have clarity, we
- 10:18Speaker 2: know when we can look. There's no refreshing loads go
- 10:20Speaker 2: on at nine am after the final fixture of the
- 10:22Speaker 2: game week, so like in game Week thirty eight last season,
- 10:25Speaker 2: all of the fixtures will have time for a final
- 10:27Speaker 2: op to data review to make sure it's accurate. This
- 10:29Speaker 2: used to happen one hour after the final match of
- 10:31Speaker 2: the game week, but now it's going to be nine am.
- 10:33Speaker 2: It just means that all matches will have time to
- 10:35Speaker 2: ensure the BPS and defensive contribution points are accurately accounted for.
- 10:39Speaker 2: So yeah, check out the video that m FPI put
- 10:42Speaker 2: out on x It's really useful, will really help you,
- 10:44Speaker 2: And that's why I was getting excited, but excited about.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Before changes to the bonus points system.
- 10:48Speaker 2: Them and apologies are really I'm going to read off
- 10:50Speaker 2: a script because otherwise I will get this wrong. So firstly, clearances,
- 10:54Speaker 2: blocks and interceptions will have less impact in the BPS
- 10:58Speaker 2: the bonus points system last week and there will one
- 11:00Speaker 2: hundred and twelve occasions where defenders earn bonus points and
- 11:03Speaker 2: defensive contribution points, often because clearances, blocks and inceptions contributed
- 11:08Speaker 2: strongly to both. The changes in the system will make
- 11:10Speaker 2: this fairer to all defenders as well. Our center backs
- 11:13Speaker 2: might be slightly less likely to get bonus points simply
- 11:16Speaker 2: from clean sheet defensive volume, making the fullbacks and goalies
- 11:19Speaker 2: more competitive for bonus points. I like that because I
- 11:22Speaker 2: felt last year like it was a bit too heavily
- 11:24Speaker 2: weighted towards the center backs. That makes it a bit
- 11:25Speaker 2: better in my opinion. Secondly, that wasn't on the script.
- 11:28Speaker 1: That's just my opinion.
- 11:29Speaker 2: Secondly, goalkeepers will receive extra recognition for saves from big
- 11:32Speaker 2: chances this season, and the saves metric has been restored
- 11:35Speaker 2: to the BPS to ensure that goalkeepers do get credit
- 11:38Speaker 2: for some saves that are made without a shot being taken.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Thirdly, the being.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Tackled penalty has been removed so that the attacking fullbacks
- 11:45Speaker 2: and flair players should benefit in the BPS again, I
- 11:48Speaker 2: think that's a really good addition. Let's go honest, we
- 11:51Speaker 2: just want to get onto the price in our teams, don't.
- 11:52Speaker 2: Let's rattle through that. Go to the fancy website to
- 11:55Speaker 2: read more about the exact bonus points and how you
- 11:57Speaker 2: can get them. The third thing, though, is the price
- 11:59Speaker 2: change predictor. I know there's going to be a lot
- 12:00Speaker 2: of excitement behind this because before we'd have to stay
- 12:03Speaker 2: up late and you'd kind of have to hope and
- 12:05Speaker 2: you'd be looking at transfers in or transfers out to
- 12:07Speaker 2: try and work out if your players were going to
- 12:09Speaker 2: go up or down. Now, the game will actually have
- 12:11Speaker 2: a page dedicated to price changes. It's going to be
- 12:14Speaker 2: on the app and website once game week one gets underway.
- 12:16Speaker 2: Player prices will also change at midnight UK time, so
- 12:20Speaker 2: we know a definitive time when if you're thinking about
- 12:23Speaker 2: making a move and a worried about the price changing,
- 12:25Speaker 2: that's when you need to do it. By this page,
- 12:26Speaker 2: you'll show current progress towards a price change displayed as
- 12:29Speaker 2: a percentage, and our player profiles will also show status
- 12:32Speaker 2: messages if a player is likely or very likely to
- 12:35Speaker 2: change in price by midnight that day the day so
- 12:37Speaker 2: we will always be a guide and doesn't guarantee a
- 12:40Speaker 2: price change, but nonetheless still really helpful. There's another really
- 12:43Speaker 2: good video on x as well if you want to
- 12:45Speaker 2: check that out, and then new uioverviews FBI also changing
- 12:49Speaker 2: up how the game looks. You're going to have a
- 12:50Speaker 2: UI selector to allow managers to move between the pickteam
- 12:53Speaker 2: points and transfers pages. They will also give you both
- 12:56Speaker 2: pitch and list views. The initial viewsing can include the
- 12:59Speaker 2: FDR only ship and form. Others including the price change prediction,
- 13:02Speaker 2: will be added once game week one is under way.
- 13:06Speaker 1: More in FI.
- 13:06Speaker 2: I'm not going to read everything on the script because
- 13:08Speaker 2: Sam's gone into so much details incredible, but I'm just
- 13:11Speaker 2: going to stumble over it and we want to get
- 13:12Speaker 2: onto teams and position change players. By the way, there's
- 13:15Speaker 2: quite a few on here, Sam. Do you want to
- 13:16Speaker 2: pick out the headlines?
- 13:17Speaker 3: Yeah, there's three probably that are going to have relatively
- 13:21Speaker 3: possibly big impact on the game, mostly Creepy Jr. He
- 13:23Speaker 3: is no longer award in the game. He'll now be
- 13:25Speaker 3: a midfielder. That's because he featured mostly as a number
- 13:28Speaker 3: ten last year behind Evanilson, and actually, when you look
- 13:31Speaker 3: at that in comparison to midfielders from last season, in
- 13:34Speaker 3: his thirty three appearance years, he averaged one hundred and
- 13:38Speaker 3: thirty four minutes per goal, which is fifty minutes quicker
- 13:41Speaker 3: than Sameno, who was the top averaging midfielder for goals
- 13:46Speaker 3: last season with one hundred and eighty eight point two.
- 13:47Speaker 3: So it makes sense that he would be a midfielder
- 13:50Speaker 3: if he's going to play in.
- 13:51Speaker 1: The ten dorgu.
- 13:52Speaker 3: He played all three of the games he featured under
- 13:54Speaker 3: Character in the left wing position, so it makes sense
- 13:58Speaker 3: for him to move from defender to midfielder. And then
- 14:00Speaker 3: Marmouche was mostly used as a forward under Pep last season,
- 14:03Speaker 3: so he'll be moving from a midfielder to a forward
- 14:05Speaker 3: for this year. There are others, but I think they're
- 14:10Speaker 3: less They're less likely.
- 14:12Speaker 1: To find their way into reftbail teams.
- 14:14Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, I think the headlines are creepy. Jr Is
- 14:16Speaker 2: a big one. I know they caught a lot of
- 14:17Speaker 2: people's attentions. Okay, then here's the good bit. Let's go
- 14:20Speaker 2: on to our teams. I mean, I'm going to be honest.
- 14:23Speaker 2: My team is so unbalanced. I'm probably point five short
- 14:26Speaker 2: at the moment, to be honest, because it's really really tough,
- 14:29Speaker 2: and it's going to make it for a good game
- 14:31Speaker 2: because you can't have all the premiums. But let's start
- 14:33Speaker 2: in goal, Jules.
- 14:36Speaker 4: Yeah, I've decided to go for Dijon and Aaruma five
- 14:42Speaker 4: point five because I've decided not to have any other
- 14:47Speaker 4: Monster City defender for the moment. Uma obviously had the
- 14:50Speaker 4: summer off, as you know, because I didn't qualify for
- 14:53Speaker 4: the World Cup again, and I expect Mariska to make
- 14:57Speaker 4: his team more solid defensively then Pep. Certainly less attacking,
- 15:02Speaker 4: let's say than Guardiola, probably a bit more balance in
- 15:06Speaker 4: a way. And we wait, We are waiting to see
- 15:08Speaker 4: what Mariska does.
- 15:09Speaker 5: We City. They haven't played a friendly yet either, for example.
- 15:12Speaker 4: But considering what Mariska has done previously in his career,
- 15:15Speaker 4: I wouldn't be surprised if this City team, which will
- 15:18Speaker 4: obviously be very different to the Guardiola team of the
- 15:21Speaker 4: last ten years, also would maybe be a bit more defensive.
- 15:24Speaker 4: So I fancy a lot of City defensive assets, especially
- 15:28Speaker 4: with a Rouma.
- 15:29Speaker 5: I think at five point five is a.
- 15:30Speaker 4: Decent price for the you know, the second most expensive goalkeeper,
- 15:36Speaker 4: the number one being right obviously a six million, so
- 15:39Speaker 4: I felt on a rumor was a was a good
- 15:41Speaker 4: pick there, and then I've gone for a much cheaper goalkeeper,
- 15:46Speaker 4: which I hope he will be cheaper because the transfer
- 15:48Speaker 4: has only been announced today by if weish down. It's
- 15:51Speaker 4: for Kine van Houvelin, who was really a young goal
- 15:55Speaker 4: keeper from the Netherlands. He was good with Volundum last season.
- 15:58Speaker 4: He's super toll two meters, very very promising, and I'm
- 16:02Speaker 4: hoping that it will be priced around the four point
- 16:04Speaker 4: five minute. He should be the starter for Ipswich and
- 16:07Speaker 4: I expect him to have a similar impact than Rolf's
- 16:09Speaker 4: hut with Sunderlands. Certainly in my head that's the case.
- 16:13Speaker 4: So I think you've don that rumor. Von Uverlin kind
- 16:16Speaker 4: of combo looks decent.
- 16:18Speaker 1: To me on paper, makes a lot of sense.
- 16:20Speaker 3: Sam favorite position my favorite position, and I of course
- 16:24Speaker 3: faft around this position for Ages because part of me
- 16:27Speaker 3: wanted to just go for Reya. But then, as you
- 16:29Speaker 3: was mentioned earlier, with Saliba potentially missing have along of
- 16:33Speaker 3: the season, what does that mean for clean sheets at
- 16:36Speaker 3: Arsenal and if I want to go for a certain
- 16:39Speaker 3: other Arsenal defender, Do I really want the double up
- 16:41Speaker 3: straight away when I'm not really sure about how that
- 16:43Speaker 3: might look. Maybe not. So I decided that I go
- 16:47Speaker 3: with rotating four point fives because that felt like the
- 16:50Speaker 3: safest way to start the season. So I looked for
- 16:52Speaker 3: clubs that had good rotation and landed on Kinski as Burts.
- 16:56Speaker 3: Who I'm expecting to be the number one this season?
- 16:58Speaker 2: Well, that was my question because I was one during
- 17:00Speaker 2: who the Spurs. When I looked, I was weirdly tempted
- 17:02Speaker 2: to buy a Spurs goalkeeper. But who is going to
- 17:05Speaker 2: be the number one?
- 17:06Speaker 3: I think it will be Kinski. He's doing all of
- 17:08Speaker 3: the promos and stuff for the start of the new season.
- 17:12Speaker 3: I'm expecting it to be him. He was Deserbe's number
- 17:14Speaker 3: one at the back end of last season, even when
- 17:16Speaker 3: Vacario was fitting available, So I'm expecting it to be Kinski.
- 17:19Speaker 3: If we see something different in pre season, then it's
- 17:21Speaker 3: easy to move across to Vicario because they're priced at
- 17:23Speaker 3: the same four point five price, so it's relatively easy.
- 17:26Speaker 3: But I do expect it to be Kinski. And then
- 17:29Speaker 3: I was looking for a club that rotated nicely with
- 17:31Speaker 3: Spurs in the opening weeks of the season and landed
- 17:33Speaker 3: on Coventry. They rotate quite nicely with each other now
- 17:38Speaker 3: at the minute, the Coventry to goalkeeper from last season,
- 17:41Speaker 3: Rushworth is still a Brighton player because he was only
- 17:44Speaker 3: on loan there last season. I'm hoping that he's going
- 17:48Speaker 3: to get and move back to Coventry because in his
- 17:50Speaker 3: forty six appearances last season, he averaged two point seven
- 17:53Speaker 3: saves per game and he kept seventeen clean sheets. So
- 17:56Speaker 3: if he goes back there, then I'll probably end up
- 17:58Speaker 3: with those two as are rotating combo to start the season.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Okay, well, I basically I had Saliba in my defense,
- 18:05Speaker 2: but then obviously I realized that was stupid because he's
- 18:07Speaker 2: not going to play, So I then went to Raya.
- 18:09Speaker 2: But I really don't like having expensive goalkeepers.
- 18:11Speaker 1: I never ever do it.
- 18:12Speaker 2: It's never my strategy. So I've at the moment just
- 18:15Speaker 2: gone but I need to look into like I said,
- 18:17Speaker 2: just landed this morning, guys, bear with me. I need
- 18:18Speaker 2: to look into rotating four point fives or a four
- 18:21Speaker 2: point five and their backup goalkeeper. So at the moment,
- 18:24Speaker 2: I've just gone with what we knew from last season
- 18:26Speaker 2: in terms, I've got the Brigand and Petrovitch not set
- 18:29Speaker 2: on either, to be honest, but that that's the price
- 18:32Speaker 2: point that I want in goal and it enables.
- 18:34Speaker 1: Me to do the rest of my team.
- 18:36Speaker 3: I do quite like Manchester United Slemon's as well at
- 18:39Speaker 3: five really good fiction.
- 18:41Speaker 1: That's not too expensive either, is he.
- 18:43Speaker 3: Yeah, so I do quite like him as an option
- 18:44Speaker 3: if you do want to go a little bit more
- 18:46Speaker 3: than four and a half, but you don't want to
- 18:47Speaker 3: pay PREMI in prices.
- 18:49Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a really good shout. Actually I didn't think
- 18:51Speaker 2: of that. Okay, then let's go in defense. So Jules,
- 18:53Speaker 2: you've gone Gabrielle.
- 18:56Speaker 4: I've gone for Gabrielle. Yeah, I just I just think, Yeah,
- 18:59Speaker 4: I just think you've and that eight million is worth it?
- 19:02Speaker 1: Sam, have you gone there? I have gone there?
- 19:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I have because I kind of think that you,
- 19:09Speaker 3: like I said earlier, with price points, I want to
- 19:11Speaker 3: start the season with him. Now we'll see a lot
- 19:13Speaker 3: about Arsenal and what might happen in terms of what
- 19:16Speaker 3: do we find out about Sleeper's injury and how long
- 19:18Speaker 3: term that might be. What might the Arsenal defense look
- 19:21Speaker 3: like otherwise, is timber okay having missed the World Cup?
- 19:24Speaker 3: Will he start alongside Gabrielle? If Sleeb is not there,
- 19:26Speaker 3: will they sign somebody new? Will almost go and Pey
- 19:29Speaker 3: were one of them. I think there's a lot of uncertainty,
- 19:32Speaker 3: but I know that I don't want to start the
- 19:34Speaker 3: season without an Arsenal defender, so I figured the best
- 19:37Speaker 3: route to do that is to have Gabrielle and know
- 19:39Speaker 3: that it's very easy to then drop down in price
- 19:42Speaker 3: rather than trying to find the money to get back
- 19:44Speaker 3: up to Gabrielle brilliant.
- 19:46Speaker 1: That scared me loads to the rest of your defenders.
- 19:50Speaker 3: So Liverpool top of the fixture ticker for the start
- 19:53Speaker 3: of the season. Virgil's too expensive for me to afford
- 19:56Speaker 3: right now, so I've gone for Kirks on the basis
- 19:58Speaker 3: that there's no Robertson. Simmercas is back from his loan move,
- 20:02Speaker 3: so maybe there's a little bit of issue there, but
- 20:05Speaker 3: hopefully he'll be first choice. I might still find a million,
- 20:08Speaker 3: and if I find a million, I'll go up to
- 20:10Speaker 3: Vergil book kirkiz For now, I've got Mitchell at Crystal Palace.
- 20:14Speaker 3: I would ideally have liked Daniel Minaw's, but I can't
- 20:17Speaker 3: quite justify the extra million, especially as Mina's actually outscorlled
- 20:22Speaker 3: Mitchell by one point.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Seeing four point five millions good value for Mitchell, to
- 20:26Speaker 1: be honest.
- 20:26Speaker 3: I agree, yeah, And you know, Crystal Palace are one
- 20:29Speaker 3: of these clubs that have got a new manager this season.
- 20:31Speaker 3: There seems to be hundreds of them with new managers,
- 20:33Speaker 3: so we're going to see how they set up and
- 20:35Speaker 3: how they play and how things change. But I do
- 20:38Speaker 3: like Mitchell at four point five. Yes, okay, you don't
- 20:41Speaker 3: have the attacking threat that you do from Minaw's, but
- 20:43Speaker 3: I like him. I wanted a five million defender. It's
- 20:50Speaker 3: tough in the five million bracket because there's a lot
- 20:53Speaker 3: of the ones that were really good for Deaf Coln
- 20:54Speaker 3: last year.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Who isn't above that. Van Heck was good for death
- 20:57Speaker 1: Coln at Brighton. Will he be at Spurs? I don't know.
- 21:00Speaker 3: Do I want van Heck and Kinsky? I don't think so,
- 21:03Speaker 3: but right now I settled on him as he's a
- 21:06Speaker 3: decent five Let's watch Spurs in pre season because if
- 21:08Speaker 3: he is still doing the death con stuff that we
- 21:10Speaker 3: were seeing at Brighton, maybe I want him over Kinski
- 21:13Speaker 3: and maybe it changes my goalkeeper structure.
- 21:15Speaker 1: And then Kels. Do you remember a couple of years ago,
- 21:19Speaker 1: my cheap defender of obsession? Do you remember who it was?
- 21:24Speaker 1: You have qut a lot of obsessions.
- 21:26Speaker 3: I know I know it was Leaf Davis if you recall,
- 21:29Speaker 3: and he is now back in the in the league now.
- 21:32Speaker 3: To be honest, this position could be any four point
- 21:34Speaker 3: oh defender. I'll be keeping him with a close eye
- 21:36Speaker 3: because last year it was the Sunderland Boys, wasn't It
- 21:38Speaker 3: was like, okay, well let's go in on Sunderland. I'll
- 21:41Speaker 3: be looking for a newly promoted four point zero one
- 21:45Speaker 3: that hopefully hits some attacking threat and has death compotential.
- 21:49Speaker 3: That's kind of where I'll be looking. So at the minute,
- 21:51Speaker 3: it's Leaf Davis just because I know what I'm getting
- 21:54Speaker 3: with him. But I'd probably prefer a center back from
- 21:56Speaker 3: one of those clubs, so I'll i'll kind of watch
- 22:00Speaker 3: pre season carefully to decide on them choose.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Yeah, I've got a very strong defense. I don't know why,
- 22:06Speaker 4: but on top of gabriellell No, it's true.
- 22:10Speaker 5: I've gone for Muno's.
- 22:11Speaker 4: Because I think he had a really good World Cup
- 22:12Speaker 4: and and cam sorry, and I think he would do
- 22:18Speaker 4: really well on the PSAG who is the new crystal
- 22:20Speaker 4: class manager who plays with wing backs as well, who
- 22:24Speaker 4: puts a lot of importance about his wing backs, and
- 22:27Speaker 4: that's what he did in in France last season. So
- 22:30Speaker 4: I expect, I mean, Mitchell is a really good shot too,
- 22:32Speaker 4: but I expect both Muno's and Mitchell to be very
- 22:34Speaker 4: good in the PSAGE system. And like Sam said, there's
- 22:38Speaker 4: eight new managers out of the twenty clubs in the Promer,
- 22:41Speaker 4: even nine if you count de Zerbie, who really only
- 22:43Speaker 4: had five games last season so he's not technically a
- 22:46Speaker 4: new manager for the season, but he's almost was almost
- 22:49Speaker 4: like nine is almost half of them, so born with Chelsea, Palace, Fulham, Ipswich,
- 22:54Speaker 4: Liverpool City, Forest and then maybe Tottenham if you want
- 22:57Speaker 4: to include the Serbi in that, which means a lot
- 23:00Speaker 4: of uncertainties too on how they will do and how
- 23:02Speaker 4: they will play, And we don't know yet because a
- 23:04Speaker 4: lot of teams haven't played any PRICENT matches yet.
- 23:07Speaker 5: But I can tell you that ps I certainly will put.
- 23:11Speaker 4: A lot of importance on the two wing bags. So
- 23:13Speaker 4: Michell and Munoz, I think a really good pick at
- 23:15Speaker 4: this stage. Then I've got for Vanka too because I
- 23:18Speaker 4: think he's going to do really well as Spurs. I
- 23:20Speaker 4: agree with some on that I went for Jeremy Jacque
- 23:23Speaker 4: at Liverpool because Liverpool are top of the you know,
- 23:26Speaker 4: the the whatever it's called FDR, and because I think
- 23:31Speaker 4: Jack is an outstanding talent. So if you can't afford Virgil,
- 23:35Speaker 4: but you have five million for Jack who now that
- 23:38Speaker 4: obviously Knati has left, I expect him to start if
- 23:41Speaker 4: he's fully fit to start the season for Liverpool. I
- 23:44Speaker 4: think he can have a really good impact. And my
- 23:45Speaker 4: other five million defender is Vuskovic, a Brighton who I
- 23:48Speaker 4: watched a lot of Hamburg last season on loan from Spurs.
- 23:51Speaker 4: I still don't understand how Spurs, even at that price
- 23:54Speaker 4: let him go, but I think he's a great signing
- 23:56Speaker 4: for Brighton. He's called some incredible goals last year for Hamburg. Also,
- 24:00Speaker 4: he's a threat attacking wise, and he's a super solid defender.
- 24:03Speaker 4: So I know the teams at Brighton have been, you know,
- 24:08Speaker 4: historically quite attacking and a bit unbalanced and considered goals
- 24:11Speaker 4: and things, but I say think Vuskovic could be a
- 24:14Speaker 4: really good edition and you don't have to start him
- 24:15Speaker 4: every time, just pick the fixtures.
- 24:18Speaker 5: But I think a five million is good value for money.
- 24:20Speaker 3: I mean treating very expensive defense, yes, and you got
- 24:23Speaker 3: to bench some of them every week.
- 24:26Speaker 1: Don't worry.
- 24:26Speaker 2: I can balance it out with my really cheap defense
- 24:28Speaker 2: common then caws. So I'd like to point out that again,
- 24:33Speaker 2: a lot of these are holding positions, because I find
- 24:35Speaker 2: it's so hard when we're just off the back of
- 24:37Speaker 2: a World Cup and when we haven't seen any preseason
- 24:39Speaker 2: because you and throw the in this season the new
- 24:43Speaker 2: managers thing like it feels like even the ones, and
- 24:46Speaker 2: it just feels like a lot of big players have
- 24:47Speaker 2: moved clubs as well, Like you're looking at your Cinesses,
- 24:49Speaker 2: your van hex like players like that that you would
- 24:52Speaker 2: have just put in because they've been great for their
- 24:53Speaker 2: previous clubs. And there's a bit of uncertainty. So without
- 24:57Speaker 2: how I don't have an arshal defender. I didn't so
- 24:59Speaker 2: I've just he's got a holding califury at the moment,
- 25:02Speaker 2: just five point five. There's news, isn't there? Today We're
- 25:04Speaker 2: recording on Tuesday of the Ben White and Timber. I
- 25:07Speaker 2: think are okay at the moment, so I think it
- 25:09Speaker 2: will just be a case of keeping an eye on.
- 25:11Speaker 2: I can't get to eight million for Gabrielle, so I
- 25:15Speaker 2: need to work out which Arsenal defender that will be.
- 25:18Speaker 2: I've got Mitchell, as I said, I've got Nico O'Reilly,
- 25:22Speaker 2: but I want to see what is going to happen
- 25:26Speaker 2: with him, what position he's going to play, where he's
- 25:27Speaker 2: going to line up. I think I put him in early.
- 25:30Speaker 2: It's the England bias. He's a nice kid. I just
- 25:32Speaker 2: wanted him in, but he's six point five million. I
- 25:35Speaker 2: could get Mark Gahey and this is a bit cheaper.
- 25:36Speaker 2: If I want the city could defensive cover. So he's
- 25:39Speaker 2: in there, but that's probably going to go down. I've
- 25:41Speaker 2: also got Andy Robertson because he's four point five million
- 25:45Speaker 2: and I think that's really good value.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Sam. Do you think you'll start?
- 25:49Speaker 5: I think you're will.
- 25:50Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 25:52Speaker 3: It's really hard to know what's going to happen down
- 25:54Speaker 3: that side because there's three of them that could effectively
- 25:56Speaker 3: play on that side.
- 25:57Speaker 2: But my theory is that he left Liverpool to play football,
- 26:00Speaker 2: he won't have gone there, do you know what I mean?
- 26:02Speaker 2: Again this all it's going to take is true Spurs
- 26:05Speaker 2: preseason games for him not to start and me to
- 26:07Speaker 2: just be like see lazy.
- 26:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:08Speaker 3: I mean Spurs played their first preseason game on Wednesday,
- 26:12Speaker 3: so after we've recorded this, but before this podcast goes out,
- 26:14Speaker 3: so we'll get a feel for what they're looking like
- 26:17Speaker 3: at that point and who's playing where. Obviously, I'll be
- 26:20Speaker 3: keeping a close on Spurs in pre season.
- 26:22Speaker 1: I will have a Spurs and regularly start.
- 26:24Speaker 3: Yeah, if he regularly starts, he's going to be a great,
- 26:26Speaker 3: a great option, particularly as the others are so much
- 26:28Speaker 3: more expensive because everyone else is coming in at least
- 26:31Speaker 3: five Sinnessi's obviously coming in at six. It's why I
- 26:34Speaker 3: like the Kinsky pick as well, because it's slightly cheaper.
- 26:37Speaker 3: So yeah, I mean, if he starts regularly, he's a
- 26:39Speaker 3: decent option. The thing is he didn't start regularly at
- 26:42Speaker 3: Liverpool last season. Was that because they just didn't start
- 26:45Speaker 3: in regular or was that because he's not I mean
- 26:47Speaker 3: Spurs have got less fixtures this season, right, They're not
- 26:50Speaker 3: going to be compete on multiple fronts and maybe that's helpful.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it's basically my defense I do that. I've got
- 26:56Speaker 2: with for is it viper? I never know at Brighton.
- 26:59Speaker 2: Just again, I want a Brighton defender. I like having
- 27:02Speaker 2: a Brighton defender. So I've almost got like in fact,
- 27:04Speaker 2: every single player in my defense is pretty much a
- 27:06Speaker 2: holding position at the moment, I could.
- 27:08Speaker 3: Go up and down.
- 27:10Speaker 5: That's great, Thank you, you're really helping the players.
- 27:12Speaker 2: No, but I think no, No, But I think it
- 27:14Speaker 2: is because I think a lot of people are going
- 27:15Speaker 2: to be having similar dilemmas to this, and we're talking
- 27:17Speaker 2: about teams that we're all going to be targeting, and
- 27:19Speaker 2: it's we're all still in the same boat in terms
- 27:21Speaker 2: of working out who's going to play.
- 27:22Speaker 1: I admit I'm a little less decisive than you two
- 27:25Speaker 1: on this, but that's my role on this show.
- 27:27Speaker 4: Right.
- 27:27Speaker 2: Let's go, let's go into the midfield. I think Mitchell
- 27:31Speaker 2: will stay the same out of those five, by the way,
- 27:33Speaker 2: I mean you are.
- 27:34Speaker 4: Your defense is definitely an ILD defense. Mine is mIRC
- 27:36Speaker 4: SUS Spencer, and Sam is in between. You know, like
- 27:38Speaker 4: said other providers, supermarcers are available.
- 27:44Speaker 3: Next time we come back, she'll have found a way
- 27:45Speaker 3: to get Gabrielle because she'll have panned.
- 27:49Speaker 1: Sam. When you've seen my attack.
- 27:51Speaker 2: You understand why I can't, and it's a lot of
- 27:54Speaker 2: money to find considering my next most expensive defender is
- 27:56Speaker 2: Nicole Riley at six point five. That's all I'm saying.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Let's go into midfield. Please, let's come away from my
- 28:02Speaker 2: Let's go on. Josie firsts who went I can't?
- 28:05Speaker 1: Went? First aid?
- 28:07Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 28:07Speaker 4: I meanka is my you know, my premium in midfield
- 28:11Speaker 4: and nine point five already, I think that's expensive and
- 28:14Speaker 4: certainly I could not get like Bruno at twelve million
- 28:18Speaker 4: with what I'm trying to do with the rest of
- 28:20Speaker 4: the team. And I'm I was disappointed by Bruno in
- 28:23Speaker 4: the World Cup. I don't think this is only on
- 28:25Speaker 4: him anyway, to be fair, and let's not go into
- 28:29Speaker 4: the issues and troubles that Portugal had during that World Cup.
- 28:31Speaker 4: But I'm just not just to say I'm just not
- 28:34Speaker 4: sure in what kind of film Bruno would be at
- 28:36Speaker 4: the start of the season.
- 28:37Speaker 5: That's it.
- 28:37Speaker 4: And I'm happy to to not have him straight away
- 28:40Speaker 4: and wait and see and if he's the ground running
- 28:42Speaker 4: straight away and the Carrick and United do so, then
- 28:45Speaker 4: then so be it.
- 28:46Speaker 5: I can find a way.
- 28:46Speaker 4: But I think I like Sakka's performance against France obviously,
- 28:50Speaker 4: but then again, I would have scored a hatchck against
- 28:52Speaker 4: I guess my own team seeing how badly they defended
- 28:55Speaker 4: in that FIRSTLF. But I think Soaka will be fit
- 28:57Speaker 4: at the start of the season. He might miss the
- 28:59Speaker 4: first game or so, because as we've been saying, he
- 29:02Speaker 4: won't find the World Cup. You need three to four
- 29:04Speaker 4: weeks between your holidays.
- 29:06Speaker 2: Yet his rest against Argentinagers, let's not go there there.
- 29:09Speaker 4: Ye're true, absolutely, but still, you know, so I'm not
- 29:12Speaker 4: sure if he will be ready for the start of
- 29:13Speaker 4: the season.
- 29:15Speaker 5: He might meet them committition, for example, So let's see.
- 29:19Speaker 4: But I've got Saka in there, I've got Morgan Rodgers obviously,
- 29:24Speaker 4: who is seven point.
- 29:26Speaker 1: I can't quite get him. I can't quite get him,
- 29:29Speaker 1: and that's annoying me because I want to.
- 29:31Speaker 4: I know, I think he's going to be outstanding for Chelsea,
- 29:33Speaker 4: and it's not our role on this show to debate about,
- 29:36Speaker 4: you know, how much they paid for him, et cetera,
- 29:38Speaker 4: et cetera. But I think he's going to be amazing
- 29:40Speaker 4: for Chabi Alonzo if if we get a similar system
- 29:43Speaker 4: than what Chabi Alonso played at by a Leva Cuzen.
- 29:46Speaker 4: Just imagine Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers together as the
- 29:50Speaker 4: two tens behind the nine in that Chelsea system. I
- 29:53Speaker 4: think there could be fireworks there. So I'm really tempted
- 29:57Speaker 4: by Rogers right now. I've got Iliman and Ga because
- 30:00Speaker 4: I think a six million is great value for money,
- 30:02Speaker 4: and he had a really good season with Everton last
- 30:04Speaker 4: year despite going away for Afghan and I think again,
- 30:07Speaker 4: if he can be consistent, I think there's promises that
- 30:11Speaker 4: for me. And then I went for you and Guma
- 30:14Speaker 4: because I do think that Iola and la Slot we
- 30:17Speaker 4: trust him more and we will we will get to
- 30:19Speaker 4: see him a lot for Liverpool and a six million.
- 30:22Speaker 4: I know it's a bit of a gamble because it's
- 30:23Speaker 4: a bit expensive if he doesn't.
- 30:25Speaker 5: Play, but then again you can you can change him.
- 30:27Speaker 4: And then my last one is a five million one
- 30:29Speaker 4: for I went for on Goulo at Sunderland because I
- 30:31Speaker 4: think he had a decent World Cup and I think
- 30:33Speaker 4: he would come back like full of confidence and momentum
- 30:38Speaker 4: and we'll maybe cement more of a starting role of
- 30:41Speaker 4: Sunderland than he did in the six month that he
- 30:43Speaker 4: had last season.
- 30:44Speaker 5: After he arrived in Genuar.
- 30:46Speaker 2: Okay, that seems weirdly quite balanced considering you've you've got
- 30:51Speaker 2: such an expensive.
- 30:52Speaker 5: It's all about vision, you know, talent and.
- 30:55Speaker 1: True planning, planning have you got.
- 31:01Speaker 3: I'm not comfortable starting the season without Bruno Fernandez despite
- 31:04Speaker 3: what we saw at the World Cup, and I think
- 31:06Speaker 3: it goes back to the price points thing like for
- 31:08Speaker 3: me being able to get him is really hard for him.
- 31:11Speaker 3: I did think about having col Palmer instead, he's had
- 31:13Speaker 3: the summer off. I quite like the idea of having
- 31:16Speaker 3: players that have had the summer off entirely, so I
- 31:19Speaker 3: did think about that instead. But in reality, I think
- 31:21Speaker 3: it's going to be very difficult to get from nine
- 31:23Speaker 3: point five to twelve quickly at the start of the
- 31:27Speaker 3: season if Bruno kicks off, and that could be that
- 31:30Speaker 3: worries me, so I'm going to start with Bruno. I've
- 31:33Speaker 3: also gone for Donca bos Lai. He was fantastic for
- 31:36Speaker 3: me in chunks of last season as well.
- 31:41Speaker 1: I just really like him.
- 31:42Speaker 3: He's had the summer off, no world cut for Sir
- 31:44Speaker 3: bos Lai. I think it's a really good price point.
- 31:48Speaker 3: The fixtures are fantastic for Liverpool, so I just think
- 31:52Speaker 3: he looks like a really good option. I wanted Morgan
- 31:55Speaker 3: Rogers and I tried so hard to find a million
- 31:58Speaker 3: and the only way I could find a million is
- 31:59Speaker 3: to take down which I wasn't quite prepared to do
- 32:02Speaker 3: just now for this draft.
- 32:03Speaker 1: So right now I.
- 32:04Speaker 3: Needed a six and a half million midfielder. So I'm
- 32:06Speaker 3: on Elliot Anderson at the minute, I don't know whether
- 32:09Speaker 3: Elliot Anderson is going to be the same player for
- 32:12Speaker 3: Manchester City that we had for notting of Forest, like
- 32:15Speaker 3: he was so good for us in FPL last year
- 32:17Speaker 3: because of the role that he played in that notting
- 32:21Speaker 3: Forest team. Is he going to play the same role
- 32:23Speaker 3: and do the same things for City?
- 32:24Speaker 1: I don't know. Means to be seen, and of course
- 32:26Speaker 1: we weren't that.
- 32:27Speaker 3: I don't think he will because I don't think he
- 32:29Speaker 3: will either And if I can find a million.
- 32:32Speaker 1: He'll be He'll become Morgan Rodgers. But right now I'm
- 32:37Speaker 1: on him.
- 32:38Speaker 2: He's one of my I mean, we know I love
- 32:40Speaker 2: Ingham Blaze, but he was an under I mean, aside
- 32:42Speaker 2: from probably the goals against Argentina, I thought he was
- 32:45Speaker 2: exceptional this tournament.
- 32:46Speaker 1: He was everywhere.
- 32:48Speaker 2: But I watched him and thought, you're not an FPL player.
- 32:51Speaker 2: You don't take enough shots. And like you said, it
- 32:53Speaker 2: depends on you know what I mean. He's not advanced off.
- 32:55Speaker 2: He's boxed a box, but he's It depends what role.
- 32:57Speaker 2: I don't know what Joe thinks about what role he's
- 32:59Speaker 2: going to play.
- 33:00Speaker 5: We just the thing we don't know yet.
- 33:03Speaker 4: And in the same way, it's Rogery going to be
- 33:05Speaker 4: the same with City at the start of the season
- 33:07Speaker 4: then he was with spending this World Cup. What is
- 33:09Speaker 4: Mariska going to do with two midfielders maybe three? We
- 33:12Speaker 4: don't know yet the system that City better. So I
- 33:14Speaker 4: think it's really hard unless you're a City defender or
- 33:18Speaker 4: Arling halland basically for the rest and I guess Doug,
- 33:21Speaker 4: who's probably guaranteed to start under Mareska regardless of the
- 33:25Speaker 4: system you think. I think it's really hard, especially for
- 33:29Speaker 4: those positions like Anderson, like Roder, those kind of guys
- 33:32Speaker 4: to know exactly what the City team is going to
- 33:34Speaker 4: look like.
- 33:35Speaker 5: So I think there's for people to keep him in mind.
- 33:38Speaker 5: For sure.
- 33:40Speaker 4: At six point five it's decent value for money. Again,
- 33:43Speaker 4: but I would wait a little bit longer and have
- 33:46Speaker 4: a bit of a taste of what Mariska is going
- 33:48Speaker 4: to do before making a decision.
- 33:50Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I totally agree.
- 33:52Speaker 3: And then I needed a six million. So I'm currently
- 33:55Speaker 3: on Fernandez. He's going to be attacking for Spurs. I'm
- 33:59Speaker 3: gonna have to see what that team it's like. How
- 34:00Speaker 3: far he's got fourteen Spurs players and just.
- 34:03Speaker 1: The three all three of them.
- 34:05Speaker 3: Course and maccuders matters are both interesting at six point five,
- 34:09Speaker 3: both of them depending upon where we are in terms
- 34:11Speaker 3: of fitness levels. Towards the start of the season, Spurs
- 34:14Speaker 3: feel very difficult because there's been so many incomings. Knowing
- 34:19Speaker 3: who's starting wear and what that looks like under Deserbi
- 34:21Speaker 3: feels tough. So preseason will be important. And then I
- 34:25Speaker 3: needed a cheap option, so I've gone with Matt Grimes.
- 34:29Speaker 3: I think in this position, we need to look for
- 34:31Speaker 3: the player that could potentially be the next Delia Anderson,
- 34:34Speaker 3: the one that we can rely on to play and
- 34:36Speaker 3: bring in deaf con and all of that good stuff.
- 34:39Speaker 3: So Grimes started every game for commentary in the championship
- 34:42Speaker 3: last season. He's scored a couple of goals, got a
- 34:43Speaker 3: couple of assists. He also made two hundred and one
- 34:46Speaker 3: defensive contributions and he made two hundred and thirty eight recoveries.
- 34:51Speaker 3: All of those contributes to the bone the defensive contribution system.
- 34:54Speaker 3: I think he might be a decent option at cheap
- 34:56Speaker 3: price points, so I've got him for now.
- 34:59Speaker 2: I'm going to have to play a Christmas Tree formation
- 35:01Speaker 2: because of the way my budget is. I mean, the
- 35:05Speaker 2: more I think about it, the more I think about it.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Bookuy Soaker probably won't end up being BECAI Soccer in
- 35:10Speaker 2: the end of my team because I can't my three
- 35:13Speaker 2: misstarting midfielder, Bruno and Soccer. Yeah, they were the first
- 35:18Speaker 2: two in my team with Harland and then I went,
- 35:20Speaker 2: oh my bleep, I can't afford anyone else, so they're
- 35:24Speaker 2: all still there, which is why my team is so lopsided.
- 35:26Speaker 2: So yeah, Soccer will come down. But at one point
- 35:28Speaker 2: I didn't have a single Arsenal player on my team.
- 35:30Speaker 2: I cannot work out Arsenal Arsenal with the one because
- 35:35Speaker 2: I was risky. No, that's why I have Soccer at them.
- 35:38Speaker 2: And well now I've got Soccer and Califiuri and I
- 35:39Speaker 2: don't think I want either, but.
- 35:41Speaker 1: It's I don't know.
- 35:43Speaker 2: My brain's still my first I've got I definitely want
- 35:46Speaker 2: some boss line. I want Bruno Fernandez and then really
- 35:50Speaker 2: I should probably be sensible and think where I can
- 35:52Speaker 2: move Bruno down to soccer if I need to, Because
- 35:55Speaker 2: at the moment I've got two four point five million midfielders.
- 35:57Speaker 2: They're just going to sit on my bench the whole time.
- 35:58Speaker 2: So that's that's not actually going to happen, is it.
- 36:00Speaker 2: So I've done this team like a kid in the
- 36:02Speaker 2: sweet shop basically and used all my money on the
- 36:05Speaker 2: really good sweets, and then so yeah, it's not really
- 36:08Speaker 2: very serious, as.
- 36:09Speaker 1: I'm glad you said, have taken this more seriously than me.
- 36:11Speaker 2: So yeah, I think I think that just shows how
- 36:13Speaker 2: the pricing is so interesting with FPR this year because
- 36:16Speaker 2: you just can't have them all. You can have one
- 36:18Speaker 2: premium midfield or one premium forward, and then if you
- 36:21Speaker 2: have the premium defender as well.
- 36:24Speaker 1: It's tough.
- 36:24Speaker 2: It's still just compromises. Yeah, lots of compromises. So yeah,
- 36:28Speaker 2: let's move on forwards. I'll say, no, I'm not going
- 36:31Speaker 2: to say my first actually gone, whoever Sam you.
- 36:34Speaker 1: Go, Harlan OFVS.
- 36:39Speaker 3: Yeah, I can't see how you cannot have him, to
- 36:41Speaker 3: be honest, then I struggled because at this point, I've
- 36:44Speaker 3: spent a lot of money across the rest of my team,
- 36:46Speaker 3: and I was like to have a problem, And I
- 36:49Speaker 3: was like, is there a full Where's Creepy when you
- 36:51Speaker 3: need him? That was kind of where I was. I
- 36:53Speaker 3: was like, where's that? Where's my player from last season?
- 36:55Speaker 3: That's basically creepy And and I wanted to I wanted
- 36:58Speaker 3: to find seven point five because if it didn't have
- 37:00Speaker 3: Morgan Rodgers, I was thinking, if I can find seven
- 37:02Speaker 3: point five, I could have Jel Pedro and maybe that's
- 37:04Speaker 3: okay as a compromise for the midfielder bits. I couldn't
- 37:07Speaker 3: quite get there. So at the moment, I've got Mateta.
- 37:10Speaker 3: I do like the palace fixtures.
- 37:11Speaker 5: I do.
- 37:12Speaker 3: We'll have to just see what happens with him. I'm
- 37:14Speaker 3: not sold on it though it's a budget thing. I
- 37:17Speaker 3: think of the six point five's he's probably the best one.
- 37:20Speaker 3: And that's so that's where I am. And then I've
- 37:22Speaker 3: got Olie McBurnie, who is in at five point five.
- 37:28Speaker 3: He got eighteen goals and eight assists last season in
- 37:30Speaker 3: his forty games. It's clearly not going to be the
- 37:32Speaker 3: same in the Premier League. I would prefer for him
- 37:35Speaker 3: to be almost it might end up being I burned
- 37:38Speaker 3: that slot and it becomes a burner st to enable
- 37:42Speaker 3: the midfield, because if I can put a four point
- 37:43Speaker 3: five in there, then I can get Morgan Rodgers instead
- 37:45Speaker 3: of Ellie Anderson, and I can keep Gabrielle.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Maybe that's a better option. I just don't like starting the.
- 37:51Speaker 3: Season with a burner, particularly if I might bench boost
- 37:56Speaker 3: game week one.
- 37:57Speaker 1: Oh wow, okay, Joos have you gone?
- 38:01Speaker 5: So I've gone for Holland obviously like you two, Then.
- 38:05Speaker 1: Is there any Is there any well? But we can't
- 38:07Speaker 1: have Holand? Or do we just have to have him?
- 38:08Speaker 1: He's expensive? Again?
- 38:10Speaker 4: I mean, the only way is because we know that
- 38:13Speaker 4: because of his holidays and because Nowhay went to the
- 38:16Speaker 4: quarter finals of the of the World Cup, that he
- 38:19Speaker 4: might miss the first I don't know, two games of
- 38:21Speaker 4: the season, for example, and then if you want for
- 38:24Speaker 4: those two games, you can have somebody else. And then,
- 38:26Speaker 4: like Sam just said, you work card game with three
- 38:28Speaker 4: to bring Harland in, and then by then maybe Bruno
- 38:31Speaker 4: has had two really good games for United and like me,
- 38:34Speaker 4: U din't have him, so you can bring him in
- 38:36Speaker 4: if you play your world card then but if Haland
- 38:38Speaker 4: starts the season, if he's okay to start the season,
- 38:41Speaker 4: I think it's very difficult not to start with him.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Go on, who else have you got?
- 38:45Speaker 5: Joos So halland first?
- 38:47Speaker 4: Then Beniamin Cesco because I think he had good momentum
- 38:50Speaker 4: at times after Carric arrived last season, and I can
- 38:53Speaker 4: see him having a very good season this year. I
- 38:56Speaker 4: know United would obviously have to play in the Champions
- 38:58Speaker 4: leg now, so very different to the rhythm had last
- 39:00Speaker 4: year when Charriac took over. But I really loved the
- 39:03Speaker 4: Bruno Cesco combo as a ten and as a nine,
- 39:08Speaker 4: and I think Seesco just needed a season to understand
- 39:11Speaker 4: what the Premier League was about, to understand what United
- 39:14Speaker 4: was as a club, and he had a difficult for
- 39:16Speaker 4: six months because of who was in charge of the time.
- 39:19Speaker 4: Got much better after that, even if he still looked
- 39:21Speaker 4: like a streaky striker for now with really good pairs
- 39:24Speaker 4: and maybe times where it's not as good. I think
- 39:26Speaker 4: at seven million compared to the price of others, like
- 39:29Speaker 4: I see Issac at nine million, and I thought Isac
- 39:31Speaker 4: at times looked sharp in the World Cup until they
- 39:34Speaker 4: were knocked out, but there were games and times where
- 39:36Speaker 4: I thought, Okaya, we'll be back to his best very soon.
- 39:40Speaker 4: Nine million right now for Issac faced like a massive gamble,
- 39:43Speaker 4: even to me, who loves the gamble. As you know.
- 39:47Speaker 4: I think Ceesco are seven for a second really good
- 39:49Speaker 4: striker with haland didn't look good to me, even if
- 39:53Speaker 4: he's got yellow flag. I think that would be gone
- 39:55Speaker 4: by the time the season start. And then my third
- 39:57Speaker 4: forward is a five million is Brandonton Coventry.
- 40:03Speaker 5: Yeah, I thought.
- 40:04Speaker 4: I thought you should have flared more with Gonna at
- 40:06Speaker 4: the World Cup. I mean, I didn't like the Gonna
- 40:09Speaker 4: head coach, and again it's not not for that show
- 40:12Speaker 4: didn't understand when he came on. He set up a
- 40:14Speaker 4: goal in the only winning in the win against Panama,
- 40:17Speaker 4: so it was one of the best players in the.
- 40:19Speaker 5: Championship last season.
- 40:20Speaker 4: I agree with what Sam said earlier about Grimes on
- 40:24Speaker 4: how difficult it is to step up from the Championship
- 40:26Speaker 4: to the Premier League. And I usually don't like getting
- 40:29Speaker 4: players from new promoted sides into the prem in the
- 40:33Speaker 4: team because you just never know.
- 40:34Speaker 5: I think Sunderland was a wonderful accident in that sense.
- 40:38Speaker 4: Last season, but I went for him because I think, Okay,
- 40:42Speaker 4: they start with Arson on away, so that's not gonna happen.
- 40:44Speaker 5: He's gonna stay on the bench.
- 40:45Speaker 4: But then they've got her at home for Coventry, which
- 40:47Speaker 4: I think could be good, and then you can play him.
- 40:49Speaker 5: Then they go away to City, so you bench him again.
- 40:51Speaker 4: But there might be games where towards the start of
- 40:53Speaker 4: the season where a player like to Masasanti is really
- 40:56Speaker 4: good for you and actually Coventry are decent too.
- 40:59Speaker 2: So yeah, he was my shock. I've got no money,
- 41:02Speaker 2: so I need a third choice that isn't going to start.
- 41:04Speaker 2: I've gone Harland and Pedro. Pedro was one of the
- 41:07Speaker 2: first names, and there is because I think seven point
- 41:09Speaker 2: five million. He didn't go to the World Cup, which
- 41:12Speaker 2: I mean looking at how Brazil did at the World
- 41:13Speaker 2: Cup as publics and even more wild decision. Now new manager,
- 41:17Speaker 2: I just think, I well, I say that I haven't
- 41:21Speaker 2: got Chelsea player. However I've just been tinkering, so as
- 41:23Speaker 2: it sounds, I've got Pedro Thomas the Sante Harland. But
- 41:26Speaker 2: I then looked and thought if I did Sacker down
- 41:28Speaker 2: to Rogers, which feels a little bit more sensible. I've
- 41:31Speaker 2: then got two million to play with, so I can
- 41:33Speaker 2: all of a sudden actually get some decent midfielders. Pedro though,
- 41:38Speaker 2: but yeah, and that's what I mean, so that then
- 41:40Speaker 2: I could maybe take down Jow Pedro down. But I
- 41:42Speaker 2: think the striking forwards are really hard again.
- 41:45Speaker 1: Because Thiago feels good, but it's expensive this year at
- 41:49Speaker 1: eight like it feels too and I just wonder can
- 41:51Speaker 1: he have a season like that? Again? Yeah, And there's
- 41:54Speaker 1: a lot of fids.
- 41:56Speaker 2: There's a lot of forwards that you look at and
- 41:57Speaker 2: I think, can Welbeck produces the season of his life
- 42:00Speaker 2: like that again? Can Calvert Lewin produce a season of
- 42:03Speaker 2: his life like that?
- 42:03Speaker 1: Again? So I think the forwards are really hard.
- 42:06Speaker 2: And that's why actually going Harland and Pedro straight away
- 42:09Speaker 2: was like, I'm happy with Pedro to cover me off
- 42:11Speaker 2: with Chelsea, but Morgan Rodgers is it's probably my incod bias,
- 42:15Speaker 2: but it's also what Jews was saying about the way
- 42:16Speaker 2: he could play in that Chelsea team, and the fact
- 42:19Speaker 2: that if reports are correct or obviously Arsenal were interested
- 42:22Speaker 2: and he's chosen to go to Chelsea, that makes me
- 42:25Speaker 2: think he knows what his position is.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Going to be in the team. He's excited by it.
- 42:29Speaker 2: And yeah, so I've got a lot of decisions to make,
- 42:32Speaker 2: we all have, but probably me me more than most.
- 42:35Speaker 2: I think it's safe to say, samra on the script here,
- 42:38Speaker 2: who are the locks.
- 42:39Speaker 1: In your teams? Well, for me, no one. Yeah, I
- 42:46Speaker 1: hope they're enjoying their time in my team, because who
- 42:50Speaker 1: are the locks? And yours? You got locks or are you.
- 42:52Speaker 4: As Yeah, exactly your team would change as we said,
- 42:59Speaker 4: I I think United among the top clubs. United the
- 43:02Speaker 4: only one who have played yet, frankly, and they lost
- 43:04Speaker 4: to Wrexham and they played the.
- 43:06Speaker 5: Team with a bar Sergsy and Doorgog.
- 43:09Speaker 4: The rest was very young and obviously since then the
- 43:12Speaker 4: signed players like like, you're retilements, you know.
- 43:16Speaker 5: So I think it's it's uh, there's still.
- 43:20Speaker 4: Plenty of time and plenty of things that we will
- 43:22Speaker 4: learn between that, evens the next show, and even between
- 43:25Speaker 4: now and people start actually doing their draft for their team.
- 43:27Speaker 4: There's still plenty of time to go, so make sure
- 43:30Speaker 4: you keep an eye on all of that. But but yeah,
- 43:33Speaker 4: but I think there's there's a lot of interesting players
- 43:36Speaker 4: that we all pigged that would probably still be there
- 43:39Speaker 4: before a game with one.
- 43:40Speaker 2: Oh, let's not make anyone feel bad. Hopefully I've made
- 43:42Speaker 2: everyone feel better. No one's really got locks at this stage.
- 43:44Speaker 2: Don't worry if you're as confused as me. I'm hoping
- 43:46Speaker 2: that I'm representing a lot of the population.
- 43:49Speaker 4: But it's probably more like Summer and I than like
- 43:51Speaker 4: you're okadye summers, that's for sure. Yeah.
- 43:52Speaker 2: Yeah, well, I'm hopefully I'm providing hopes to people that
- 43:55Speaker 2: they will get themselves sorted part. Yeah, first deadline, because
- 43:57Speaker 2: don't worry, Gus, there's quite a long time to go.
- 44:01Speaker 2: Let's leave it there because we've waffled on for long
- 44:03Speaker 2: enough and it's been great to be back with you.
- 44:04Speaker 2: I will be back a few times between now and
- 44:06Speaker 2: the start of the season, which is probably good news
- 44:08Speaker 2: for me because it will help my team out. So yeah,
- 44:10Speaker 2: we'll be back in August with the next installment, and
- 44:12Speaker 2: before you know it, the season will be here.
- 44:15Speaker 1: So yeah, don't mean to scare you, but I'm scared
- 44:18Speaker 1: as always.
- 44:19Speaker 2: I would recommend checking out all the articles on Fantasy
- 44:21Speaker 2: dot Premier League dot Com to check out more about
- 44:23Speaker 2: those rule changes, especially if I didn't explain it very well,
- 44:26Speaker 2: keep an eye across preseason and of course anything you miss.
- 44:28Speaker 2: I'm sure our resident footboy expert Jules will keep us
- 44:31Speaker 2: up to date. But have a great few weeks.
- 44:32Speaker 1: Don't stress too much, guys, and we'll see you next time.
