How UBS Helped Finance Maxwell’s New Hampshire Hideout (9/23/26) · The Epstein Chronicles

• 0:00
Speaker 1: What's up everyone and welcome to another episode of the
• 0:03
Speaker 1: Epstein Chronicles. One of the biggest factors when it comes
• 0:08
Speaker 1: to Glenn Maxwell and Jeffrey Epstein and the shit they
• 0:11
Speaker 1: were able to get away with for so long is
• 0:14
Speaker 1: the fact that they had so much backing and support
• 0:17
Speaker 1: within the financial sector. And this went on all the
• 0:21
Speaker 1: way up basically until Glenn Maxwell was arrested. They already
• 0:25
Speaker 1: knew what Glenn Maxwell was. They knew that Glenn Maxwell
• 0:28
Speaker 1: had lost the lawsuit. against Virginia, and they knew the
• 0:31
Speaker 1: allegations that were inside of that lawsuit. And they chose
• 0:34
Speaker 1: to continue to bank with her anyway. And one of
• 0:38
Speaker 1: the institutions that continued to bank with Maxwell all the
• 0:41
Speaker 1: way up to the end was UBS. So today, we
• 0:44
Speaker 1: have an article from theunionleader.com and the headline. How a
• 0:50
Speaker 1: Swiss bank helped Epstein's accomplice Maxwell buy her hideout tucked
• 0:54
Speaker 1: away in New Hampshire. This article was authored by By Reuters.
• 1:01
Speaker 1: In rural New Hampshire, a compound on a 156-acre estate
• 1:06
Speaker 1: dubbed Tucked Away became Ghislaine Maxwell's final residence before she
• 1:10
Speaker 1: was charged and arrested in July of 2020. And if
• 1:14
Speaker 1: you recall at the time, there was a lot of
• 1:16
Speaker 1: talk about Maxwell being all over the place. Oh, she
• 1:19
Speaker 1: was sighted in Brazil. Oh, she's in France. Oh, Ghislaine
• 1:22
Speaker 1: Maxwell's on the moon. But in reality, she was in
• 1:25
Speaker 1: New Hampshire at this property. And not only was she
• 1:29
Speaker 1: in New Hampshire, she was being guarded, protected by a
• 1:33
Speaker 1: security team made up of professionals. And you know as
• 1:37
Speaker 1: well as I do that those folks, well, they weren't
• 1:39
Speaker 1: doing it because they're charitable. They were getting paid a
• 1:43
Speaker 1: lot of money. Behind the cash purchase of the $ 1. 1
• 1:46
Speaker 1: million home in December 2019 were funds sent by Swiss
• 1:51
Speaker 1: banking giant UBS on Maxwell's behalf a month earlier. Documents
• 1:55
Speaker 1: in a cache of files released by the Department of
• 1:58
Speaker 1: Justice related to the convicted sex offender, Jeffrey Epstein Cho.
• 2:03
Speaker 1: The money then cascaded through a web of trusts and
• 2:05
Speaker 1: banks to buy the secluded property as she sought to
• 2:09
Speaker 1: go into hiding. Yeah, but UBS, they have nothing to
• 2:12
Speaker 1: answer for, right? They didn't enable Glenn Maxwell. They didn't
• 2:15
Speaker 1: help her hide. They had no idea what she was.
• 2:19
Speaker 1: And that's their story and they're sticking to it. But
• 2:22
Speaker 1: nobody's buying their nonsense. You're one of the most powerful
• 2:27
Speaker 1: financial institutions in the world and you have no idea
• 2:30
Speaker 1: who you're doing business with? I'll tell you what, why
• 2:33
Speaker 1: don't we test it out? If anybody out there is
• 2:35
Speaker 1: a drug dealer, why don't you go set up a
• 2:38
Speaker 1: banking account with UBS and start moving some of those
• 2:41
Speaker 1: ill-gotten gains through that account and watch how quick UBS
• 2:45
Speaker 1: sends the feds to your house. UBS processed the transfer
• 2:51
Speaker 1: for an account linked to Maxwell three months after U.S.
• 2:54
Speaker 1: criminal investigators issued the bank grand jury subpoena to divulge
• 2:59
Speaker 1: information on all her financial dealings on August 16th that year,
• 3:03
Speaker 1: citing an investigation into sex trafficking of children. UBS told
• 3:08
Speaker 1: Maxwell by email on August 1st that it would cease
• 3:11
Speaker 1: doing business with her within a month without giving her
• 3:14
Speaker 1: a reason. Well, I think she knew, right? And UBS,
• 3:19
Speaker 1: they should have done this a long time ago. During COVID,
• 3:22
Speaker 1: the banks had no problem deplatforming people. And what was
• 3:25
Speaker 1: the great sin? Well, going against the narrative. But God
• 3:28
Speaker 1: forbid they do the same thing to Glenn Maxwell. Banks
• 3:34
Speaker 1: are required to show they take measures to prevent their
• 3:36
Speaker 1: services being used to facilitate crime. Failure can lead to
• 3:40
Speaker 1: large penalties by regulators, legal action from victims, and costly
• 3:45
Speaker 1: reputational damage. Lenders must closely monitor high-risk customers and curb
• 3:50
Speaker 1: or cut their services if they suspect dubious activity. Well,
• 3:54
Speaker 1: that didn't occur, did it? And it's a reoccurring pattern, right?
• 3:59
Speaker 1: Not just UBS, but the financial system, the financial sector
• 4:04
Speaker 1: as a whole. How many of these banks continue to
• 4:08
Speaker 1: do business with bitch-ass Jeffrey Epstein and this vile bipedal serpent,
• 4:13
Speaker 1: Glenn Maxwell? That's right, all of them. Together with other
• 4:19
Speaker 1: transactions and investigators' reports, the documents underscore the central role
• 4:23
Speaker 1: UBS played in managing the finances of Epstein's chief accomplice,
• 4:28
Speaker 1: whose proximity to the convicted felon had been reported years
• 4:31
Speaker 1: before the wealth manager had taken her on as a client.
• 4:34
Speaker 1: And not just reported, okay? Let's be very clear. She
• 4:38
Speaker 1: had already lost the civil lawsuit to Virginia. You know,
• 4:42
Speaker 1: the one where she tried to call Virginia a liar
• 4:44
Speaker 1: and she ended up losing the lawsuit and perjuring herself? Yeah,
• 4:48
Speaker 1: that lawsuit. So what are we even talking about here?
• 4:52
Speaker 1: They knew. Are we trying to piecemeal history together or something?
• 4:57
Speaker 1: Because there's no doubt that all these banks were aware
• 5:00
Speaker 1: of what Ghislaine Maxwell was, and it's also very clear
• 5:03
Speaker 1: they didn't care, and they continued to do business with her.
• 5:09
Speaker 1: The file shed rare light on how banks deal with
• 5:11
Speaker 1: rich customers and can ignore some of the red flags
• 5:15
Speaker 1: that might disqualify a regular client, said Todd Kirchmeyer, a
• 5:19
Speaker 1: financial crime expert with the London School of Economics. Look,
• 5:23
Speaker 1: I don't have to go to the London School of
• 5:24
Speaker 1: Economics or any of these fancy lad schools to know
• 5:29
Speaker 1: that this is bullshit and that regular people would be
• 5:32
Speaker 1: deplatformed in a minute. Banks that are told of secret
• 5:35
Speaker 1: criminal inquiry, as UBS was, typically do everything they can
• 5:39
Speaker 1: to find publicly available information to justify holding up the
• 5:43
Speaker 1: suspect's money, he said. And look, there's no doubt that
• 5:48
Speaker 1: the banks certainly do play ball when they get subpoenas
• 5:51
Speaker 1: and whatnot. But that's not the issue here. The issue
• 5:54
Speaker 1: is that they allow this to occur, and they know.
• 5:57
Speaker 1: Even though all the safeguards are in place, even though
• 6:00
Speaker 1: the vast majority of their compliance departments tell them that
• 6:03
Speaker 1: they're in violation, they continue on. And that's because they
• 6:07
Speaker 1: know there's not going to be any repercussions at the
• 6:09
Speaker 1: end of the road. When all is said and done,
• 6:12
Speaker 1: nobody's getting a spanking. In the Southern District of New York, subpoena,
• 6:17
Speaker 1: the U.S. attorney told UBS the information was part of
• 6:20
Speaker 1: a criminal felony investigation. requesting it to keep the request
• 6:24
Speaker 1: secret in case a disclosure would impede the probe. The
• 6:28
Speaker 1: files show Epstein had died in jail days earlier on
• 6:31
Speaker 1: August 10th as he faced sex trafficking charges. UBS declined
• 6:36
Speaker 1: to comment on Maxwell or respond to Reuters' questions about
• 6:39
Speaker 1: why the bank processed the payments, saying that it does
• 6:43
Speaker 1: not speak about client-related matters. Maxwell was convicted in 2021
• 6:48
Speaker 1: and is serving a 20-year prison sentence. for recruiting and
• 6:51
Speaker 1: grooming teenage girls for sex, as well as participating in
• 6:55
Speaker 1: the abuse of minor victims in some instances. Well, at
• 6:59
Speaker 1: least they added that. Usually we just get, oh, she
• 7:02
Speaker 1: was a conspirator of Epstein. She brought girls to Epstein. No,
• 7:06
Speaker 1: she abused girls with Epstein, okay? Let's get it very
• 7:09
Speaker 1: clear for the record. Her lawyers had argued at the
• 7:14
Speaker 1: trial she was scapegoated for Epstein's crimes. A spokesperson for
• 7:18
Speaker 1: the prison where she's staying said, said Maxwell, would not comment.
• 7:22
Speaker 1: So the prison is Maxwell's spokesperson now? Well, isn't that quaint?
• 7:27
Speaker 1: Not shocked, considering the sweetheart placement that she got by
• 7:31
Speaker 1: Todd Baby Billy Blanche and the DOJ. So is anyone
• 7:35
Speaker 1: shocked that the department or the prison is acting as
• 7:38
Speaker 1: her spokesperson? David Oscar Marcus, the criminal defense attorney, who
• 7:43
Speaker 1: last month represented Maxwell in a deposition to the House
• 7:46
Speaker 1: Oversight Committee, declined to comment. The pattern we've seen from
• 7:49
Speaker 1: our investigations of Epstein and a lot of other high-net-worth
• 7:53
Speaker 1: criminals is that the banks look the other way because
• 7:55
Speaker 1: they know ultra-wealthy clients can pack up and take their
• 7:58
Speaker 1: money across the street any time that they want, said
• 8:02
Speaker 1: Senator Ron Wyden, who had scrutinized the money flows from
• 8:05
Speaker 1: Epstein's crimes. Well, that's what happens when the whole-ass thing
• 8:09
Speaker 1: is corrupt, right? It's not like it's one bank that's corrupt.
• 8:13
Speaker 1: It's the whole-ass financial sector. And this is what I've
• 8:16
Speaker 1: been trying to drive home to you folks for years.
• 8:18
Speaker 1: And when I say that, I don't mean some random
• 8:21
Speaker 1: bank teller or some regional branch manager or some director
• 8:26
Speaker 1: or some local CEO. I'm talking about the Jamie Diamonds
• 8:30
Speaker 1: of the world, the movers and the shakers, the people
• 8:34
Speaker 1: that are actually making our lives more miserable. And that's
• 8:37
Speaker 1: Elite Company, right? There's only a handful of people that
• 8:40
Speaker 1: are in that atmosphere, but that handful of people They
• 8:44
Speaker 1: have their fingers on all the controls. I know people
• 8:48
Speaker 1: want to think that politicians are the most powerful people,
• 8:50
Speaker 1: but they're not. It's the people who control the purse strings.
• 8:54
Speaker 1: And who do you think controls the purse strings, folks?
• 8:58
Speaker 1: Glenn Maxwell wasn't just some minor accessory to Epstein's crimes.
• 9:02
Speaker 1: She was an essential part of his trafficking operation that
• 9:05
Speaker 1: reached all around the globe, and she's accused of participating
• 9:08
Speaker 1: in abuse herself, Wyden said. While information on Epstein's financial
• 9:12
Speaker 1: dealings remains incomplete, The files show how he maintained access
• 9:16
Speaker 1: to major Wall Street firms well after his 2008 conviction.
• 9:20
Speaker 1: Deutsche Bank continued servicing Epstein's accounts into 2019, even after
• 9:26
Speaker 1: moving to cut ties. While Morgan Stanley opened accounts for
• 9:30
Speaker 1: Epstein-Link Trusts as late as March of that year, Reuters
• 9:34
Speaker 1: has reported. And like I always tell you, the only
• 9:36
Speaker 1: crime to these people is being poor. You can be
• 9:40
Speaker 1: an arms dealer, you can be a human trafficker, you
• 9:43
Speaker 1: can be a drug dealer, you cartel member, they don't care.
• 9:46
Speaker 1: As long as they're getting a little something something on
• 9:48
Speaker 1: the back end. Maxwell was arrested by FBI agents, forcing
• 9:52
Speaker 1: entry into the compound at the end of a half-mile
• 9:55
Speaker 1: dirt driveway with no trespassing signs on the outskirts of Bradford.
• 9:59
Speaker 1: A small town known for its colonial white homes and
• 10:02
Speaker 1: horse farms, and the property where she was arrested? Absolutely amazing.
• 10:08
Speaker 1: I would love to live on a property like that.
• 10:11
Speaker 1: Maxwell used the name Janet Marshall and posed as a
• 10:13
Speaker 1: journalist who wants privacy to buy a house when she
• 10:16
Speaker 1: met with a real estate agent, according to court documents,
• 10:19
Speaker 1: from a bail hearing. During her arrest, FBI agents discovered
• 10:24
Speaker 1: a mobile phone covered in aluminum foil to avoid being
• 10:27
Speaker 1: traced and a security team staffed by former British military
• 10:31
Speaker 1: members that had been hired to guard Maxwell during her
• 10:34
Speaker 1: stay there, the court documents show. Imagine needing a British
• 10:38
Speaker 1: military security detail to stay with you? What was Glenn
• 10:44
Speaker 1: Maxwell so afraid of? Obviously not the government because the
• 10:48
Speaker 1: security team isn't going to get into a gunfight with
• 10:51
Speaker 1: federal agents, so who are they there to protect her from?
• 10:54
  Speaker 1: I think that's a pretty big question that still hasn't
• 10:56
Speaker 1: been answered. A document by federal investigators probing Maxwell's money links, UBS,
• 11:02
Speaker 1: to the New Hampshire hideout. The file, dated April 12, 2022,
• 11:07
Speaker 1: includes a flowchart detailing the wire transfers titled 338 Washington Road, Bradford,
• 11:13
Speaker 1: New Hampshire, a reference to an address of her home
• 11:16
Speaker 1: tucked away. The document states that the information is based
• 11:20
Speaker 1: on U.S. Treasury financial crime records and is marked sensitive.
• 11:25
Speaker 1: It shows UBS transferred nearly $ 8 million on November 12,
• 11:30
Speaker 1: 2019 from an account held for Montepeler Trust, an entity
• 11:34
Speaker 1: set up by Maxwell as its so-called grantor. Her then-husband,
• 11:38
Speaker 1: Scott Borgeson, was one of the trustees, UBS records show.
• 11:43
Speaker 1: The cash went to a TD Ameritrade account of which
• 11:46
Speaker 1: Borgeson was the custodian. Days before the transfer on November 6, 2019,
• 11:52
Speaker 1: UBS was still in discussion with the Federal Bureau of
• 11:55
Speaker 1: Investigation on documents it would send as requested by the
• 11:58
Speaker 1: grand jury subpoena of August. Reuters could not establish if
• 12:02
Speaker 1: UBS alerted the authorities to the $ 8 million transfer. Oh,
• 12:06
Speaker 1: they should have. But I have my doubts, unfortunately. Banks
• 12:10
Speaker 1: operating in the U.S. are obliged to inform the U.S.
• 12:13
Speaker 1: Treasury of suspicious transactions related to to a possible regulatory
• 12:18
Speaker 1: or legal violation within 30 days. TD Ameritrade sent the
• 12:22
Speaker 1: money to a trust that was used to buy the
• 12:24
Speaker 1: house in Bradford. TD Ameritrade has since been taken over
• 12:28
Speaker 1: by Charles Schwab, which declined to comment. Nobody's going to comment.
• 12:32
Speaker 1: That's the whole thing. And that's always been the strategy.
• 12:36
Speaker 1: Just don't say shit and hope it goes away. Maxwell
• 12:39
Speaker 1: and Borgeson's combined wealth was estimated at around $ 22. 5 million
• 12:42
Speaker 1: as of October 20th, according to a report filed to
• 12:47
Speaker 1: court in the Southern District of New York later that
• 12:49
Speaker 1: year by accountants hired by her lawyers at Cohen & Gresser.
• 12:54
Speaker 1: They found that much of her wealth could be traced
• 12:56
Speaker 1: to the 2015 sale of a townhouse on the Upper
• 12:59
Speaker 1: East Side of Manhattan for $ 15 million. It remains unclear
• 13:03
Speaker 1: how she came to own the house and what, if any,
• 13:06
Speaker 1: due diligence UBS carried out when more than $ 14 million
• 13:09
Speaker 1: went into her bank account in 2016. Epstein bought the
• 13:14
Speaker 1: house for her. Like, come on, guys. Try and catch up, please.
• 13:19
Speaker 1: The accountant's report stated that the proceeds went to a
• 13:21
Speaker 1: UBS account and from there to other UBS accounts to
• 13:24
Speaker 1: buy properties. The Swiss lender held accounts with cash, shares,
• 13:29
Speaker 1: and other investments for Maxwell and assigned her to relationship
• 13:33
Speaker 1: managers during her time as a customer document show. At
• 13:37
Speaker 1: one point, the bank was managing 19 million for her,
• 13:40
Speaker 1: Reuters reported in February. Maxwell and Borgeson still held $ 4. 1
• 13:45
Speaker 1: million at UBS at the end of October 2020, according
• 13:49
Speaker 1: to the accountants. Borgerson didn't respond to requests for comment.
• 13:55
Speaker 1: Suspicious activity reports which banks use to alert authorities to
• 13:58
Speaker 1: suspect money movement shed some light on Maxwell's dealings. In
• 14:02
Speaker 1: the email correspondence between the FBI and the federal law
• 14:05
Speaker 1: enforcement in April 2022, the agencies discussed a SAR that
• 14:10
Speaker 1: suggests the New Hampshire property was purchased with proceeds from
• 14:14
Speaker 1: human trafficking. It's unclear which bank alerted regulators to the
• 14:18
Speaker 1: irregularity of the transaction. After her arrest, UBS filed the SAR,
• 14:23
Speaker 1: covering more than $ 18 million worth of transfers from her
• 14:26
Speaker 1: accounts at the Swiss bank to Borgerson between December 2014
• 14:31
Speaker 1: and July 10th, 2020, according to an untitled and undated
• 14:35
Speaker 1: document summarizing several such filings. And you see why Rico
• 14:39
Speaker 1: would have been so important? And you see why I
• 14:42
Speaker 1: cry about it all the time? because all of these
• 14:44
Speaker 1: financial dealings would be under the microscope. Ask yourself why
• 14:49
Speaker 1: Diddy was charged with RICO, why R. Kelly was charged
• 14:52
Speaker 1: with RICO, why Keith Rainieri was charged with RICO, but
• 14:55
Speaker 1: Jeffrey Epstein and Glenn Maxwell weren't? Ask yourself why. The U.S.
• 15:03
Speaker 1: Justice Department and Treasury Department declined to comment on Maxwell,
• 15:06
Speaker 1: her relationship with UBS, the home purchase, and the banking transactions.
• 15:11
Speaker 1: British bank Barclays also played an important role for Maxwell,
• 15:15
Speaker 1: according to the files, as the only lender she held
• 15:18
Speaker 1: money with outside the U.S. from 2017, according to a
• 15:22
Speaker 1: report on her wealth. Well, does anyone want to jump
• 15:26
Speaker 1: in here and fill in the blanks as why Maxwell
• 15:29
Speaker 1: was with Barclays? Who was running Barclays at that point? Oh,
• 15:34
Speaker 1: that's right. Their good buddy, Jess Staley. Do you think
• 15:37
Speaker 1: that's just a coincidence? Jess Daly just, you know, showed up,
• 15:40
Speaker 1: and Maxwell just showed up, and they just happened to be,
• 15:43
Speaker 1: you know, passers in the night? Of course not. The
• 15:48
Speaker 1: reason that she's banking there, or was banking there, is
• 15:51
Speaker 1: because of Jess Daly. She held $ 2. 4 million at the
• 15:55
Speaker 1: bank at the end of 2018. The reports show, in
• 15:59
Speaker 1: the three weeks after Epstein's July 6, 2019 arrest, UBS received...
• 16:04
Speaker 1: more than $ 600, 000 of deposits from her Barclays account as
• 16:08
Speaker 1: she rounded up money to pay for a credit card bill.
• 16:11
Speaker 1: Email exchanges show Barclays declined to comment on its dealings
• 16:15
Speaker 1: with Maxwell. It remains unclear how much money Maxwell has left.
• 16:20
Speaker 1: Tucked away has since changed hands, according to property records
• 16:23
Speaker 1: and real estate agents, and is set to be sold again.
• 16:26
Speaker 1: Four Seasons Southby's International Realty describes it as a privacy
• 16:30
Speaker 1: lover's dream. And when I tell you I would love
• 16:33
Speaker 1: to have this property, man, I am not kidding you.
• 16:37
Speaker 1: All I would do is sit out on my back
• 16:39
Speaker 1: patio and write. That's it. That would be my whole life.
• 16:43
Speaker 1: And maybe, just maybe, I'd be able to finish a
• 16:45
Speaker 1: book I've been working on since literally high school. That
• 16:49
Speaker 1: would be nice. But I guess that's only for people
• 16:51
Speaker 1: like Elaine Maxwell. The rest of us, I guess it's
• 16:54
Speaker 1: time to wake up and grind again. But I think
• 16:57
Speaker 1: the big takeaway from the article, once again, is that
• 17:00
Speaker 1: the financial sector has been complicit and has enabled these
• 17:04
Speaker 1: people the whole entire time they've been active. And then
• 17:07
Speaker 1: only after the fact do they start sending in the SARS,
• 17:11
Speaker 1: start reporting all the suspicious activity, and then they expect
• 17:15
Speaker 1: people to applaud? You had all these years. You saw
• 17:19
Speaker 1: all the transactions. You knew what was going on. You
• 17:22
Speaker 1: knew the money that was being moved, and you did
• 17:24
Speaker 1: nothing about it. So at some point, there has to
• 17:27
Speaker 1: be ramifications. And if that point ever arrives, I would
• 17:31
Speaker 1: say that the financial sector would be a great place
• 17:34
Speaker 1: to start. All the information that goes with this episode
