- 0:16of yourself you could ever imagine.
- 0:18Join Kim every morning from one of her favorite happy places,
- 0:21her chicken coop along with all her chickens.
- 0:28Hey, everybody. Good morning from the chicken
- 0:30coop. So today to follow up yesterday,
- 0:33we are talking today about net time.
- 0:36So yesterday we talked about time sucks, today we're talking
- 0:38about net time. So what is net time?
- 0:41So for me, this is time that you can do two things that don't
- 0:46overlap and cause you to stress multitasking.
- 0:50So there are certain things. I'm not a fan of multitasking
- 0:53because I believe that it takes your attention away from things.
- 0:56But there are things that are automatic for your hands and you
- 1:01don't have to think about them. And this is where net time comes
- 1:04in. So we all know it.
- 1:06When we're driving, we'll say, oh, I can listen to this while
- 1:08I'm driving because we get in the car and we're just going to
- 1:11get on the highway and we're just going to drive or we're
- 1:13going to go somewhere. We're just going to drive.
- 1:15And when we're driving we can listen to music, we can listen
- 1:17to podcast, thankfully from my perspective and or classes or
- 1:22whatever. So I am very big on listening to
- 1:25audibles. Love, love, love Audible.
- 1:28I think it's one of the best tools out there.
- 1:30I love summaries of books like Cliff Notes for adults.
- 1:33I use Headway and I don't get paid to promote them.
- 1:36But I'm telling you, Headway is a really great app to use and
- 1:41you can get a whole book done in 15 minutes and then if you
- 1:43really liked the book, you can go and get the book.
- 1:45And I sort by that all the time. So I know which one's really
- 1:47interested me and had some different concepts that I wanted
- 1:50to dive into. But this is, this is an
- 1:54interesting thing because people will say, well, I really want to
- 1:57learn. Like, I hear it a lot because I
- 1:59talk about gardening, farming, all that stuff in piece.
- 2:01I really want to learn to garden okay, but they never end up
- 2:06doing it. I don't have the time.
- 2:07So here's the thing. First of all, we don't find
- 2:10time. We make time.
- 2:12I don't find I I don't go out there and and and just find time
- 2:15sitting on the shelf to to create what I create.
- 2:19I actually choose to make it happen.
- 2:21I work my ass off to make it happen that way because I am
- 2:25efficient. It's just like I don't go into a
- 2:27studio to record this podcast. I do it in the morning while I'm
- 2:31taking care of the chickens and it's it's two things at once.
- 2:35And am I losing my attention and focus on taking care of the
- 2:38chickens for it? No, because it's two different
- 2:40skill sets and I'm talking to them anyway, which is how this
- 2:43whole thing started. Instead of giving my pep talks
- 2:45just to chickens to be safe for the day, I get to give them to
- 2:48you guys, which is wonderful. But in any of it, we don't find
- 2:51it. We make it.
- 2:52So while I'm I'm taking a class I I know I may have taught.
- 2:57I'm sure I talked about this about creating a flower garden,
- 3:01like actually a flower breeding business.
- 3:04But I'm not actually creating that.
- 3:06I'm just doing it because I want to expand my knowledge on
- 3:09flowers and these were the best people to go to florette flowers
- 3:12and I took a course and I'm loving it.
- 3:15But while I'm watching those videos, I am doing other things.
- 3:20I'm folding clothes. I've got the IT all set up on my
- 3:23iPad so I can walk around. The other day I was clipping all
- 3:26my plants and trimming them back in my studio.
- 3:30Had it on the whole time. Was able to sit there, listen,
- 3:34glance over, watch what she was talking about the whole entire
- 3:38time. And it is net time.
- 3:40It means I'm doing one thing but my brain.
- 3:42If I wasn't directing my brain while I was doing the plant
- 3:47clippings, my brain would have been all over the place thinking
- 3:49of unresourceful things. So that's why it's one of those
- 3:53things. It's use your net time, marry
- 3:55them together so that you can have the outcome that you're
- 3:58looking for. Super important to recognize.
- 4:01Make a list of where is your net time showing up.
- 4:05Someone said to me, well, I only have 10 minutes in the car.
- 4:08Well, perfect for you. If you use headway, you can get
- 4:11a book in on your way to the office.
- 4:13And she's like, really? I was like, yes.
- 4:16So you feel more productive, you feel more excited, and you're
- 4:19actually utilizing that net time in such a great way that it
- 4:23makes you feel like you're doing a better job for yourself in the
- 4:26process. So while it seems strange, while
- 4:29it seems like it's something that you're not used to thinking
- 4:32of this way, as soon as you start incorporating it, you'll
- 4:35be shocked at how much more you end up with.
- 4:38So if you're when I'm out doing chores here on and I'm not doing
- 4:43a podcast, I'll have my earbuds in and I will be listening to
- 4:47Audible. So while I'm raking, while I'm
- 4:50pulling weeds, while I'm planting, a lot of times I'll
- 4:54have it in my earbuds. But honestly, sometimes I just
- 4:57put it on speaker, put my phone down if I'm working in a section
- 5:00of the garden. And you'd be surprised how much
- 5:02the chickens like listening to it.
- 5:04They all come around, they're all hanging out listening to it.
- 5:08They particularly really like listening to Joseph Murphy,
- 5:10which I don't know if it's the reader or the words or the
- 5:12energy, but they really love it. So find your way to get that net
- 5:17time back. Think about the things that
- 5:20you're doing where you can cross pollinate it and say, OK, this
- 5:23is net time I can use learn something new.
- 5:26Fill yourself up. OK my friends, I hope you have a
- 5:28blessed day and I'll see you tomorrow.
- 5:30Bye.
