- 0:42autismhacks.net right now. So Asperges or shyness.
- 0:45You know, when I was a little kid growing up, a lot of people
- 0:47say I was overly shy. I was so shy, in fact, that
- 0:50there was that was the main thing.
- 0:51Which are we Daniel's too shy, use too many things going on.
- 0:54But that's not necessarily the case.
- 0:55I actually was diagnosed Asperger Syndrome, which is now
- 0:57called Autism Spectrum disorder. That kind of accounts for most
- 1:00of the issues. So I want to talk of some of the
- 1:03key differences between Asperges and shyness.
- 1:05Right. So asperges often involves lack
- 1:07of social skills, whereas shyness doesn't necessarily have
- 1:10this issue. You know you can be, have or
- 1:12have shyness but still be able to understand social protocol,
- 1:15right? Which is what people with
- 1:16Asperges. Aspergers can also involve
- 1:18repetitive behavior. You know, doing the same thing
- 1:21over over again. But again, you know, shyness
- 1:23won't have this. It's just shyness.
- 1:25At the end of the day, people with Aspergers will struggle to
- 1:27understand, read social cues from social conventions, how
- 1:30close to stand to somebody, how much of the conversation you
- 1:33have to put input before it's somebody else's turn.
- 1:36And all those kind of key areas which I think are so important
- 1:38for social cues. Asperger syndrome.
- 1:40People with that condition won't know that those those inherent
- 1:43issues with socializing. However, people with shyness
- 1:46definitely will. It's something that people who
- 1:48suffer from shyness will still understand the social protocol,
- 1:51which may be shy, you know, and it's more important really to
- 1:54understand some of the key actual elements is on with the
- 1:57term Asperger syndrome, which is now just called ASD for Autism
- 2:00Spectrum disorder, they would have difficulty with social
- 2:02interactions, right? They'll have limited interest in
- 2:04in anything. Want to have routines to have
- 2:07like very scheduled. Their days will be very much the
- 2:10same and even their food will be quite restricted and they will
- 2:13have repetitive behavior that they get enjoyment out of.
- 2:16That's someone with an awesome fashion sorted enjoys.
- 2:19They'll have sensory processing issues.
- 2:20I mean maybe the lights, sound smell, these may be quite
- 2:23overwhelmed somebody with Aspergers and and then there'll
- 2:26be a difficulty with communication and it could be
- 2:29written communication, it could be non verbal communication, it
- 2:32could be any type of communication that that person
- 2:34may find difficult. Now if you somebody else knows
- 2:37that these are something that impacts your life and you
- 2:39haven't already, this is worth getting kind of like checked out
