- 2:08Try the veal, Ryan Veal, Ryan Veale is a heavy set guy
- 2:14with pink hair, and he looks like he is the front of house manager
- 2:20at some middling restaurants. Okay, he's got a black down on. Yeah,
- 2:23he's got a red tie on, pink hair, and uh has got
- 2:29a lot of sass to him. Yeah, he's suing his friend Katie McGregor.
- 2:34Uh for two thousand, seven hundred seventy nine dollars for two computers.
- 2:39Now we'll get into how we get to two computers here in a little bit.
- 2:43How much you can say two seven and seventy nine dollars two computers?
- 2:47Katie McGregor is Uh. She seems as though she's on another planet and there's
- 2:53nothing. I don't know how else to say that to you. Like she
- 2:55had normal hair, very very short, but normal. Sure, and she
- 3:00uh, I feel like she might be high. I'm not sure. Or
- 3:06she's that kid in class who's like never paying attention even when they know when
- 3:09they look they like they are they're not well, going listen, going on
- 3:13TV, stressful and you know, changes looking around. She could have some
- 3:16anxiety, that's true. When you hear some of your answers, you may
- 3:22change your mind on that. Well, I'm also saying, going on and
- 3:24sometimes you might want to light up a blunt. I got you before.
- 3:27God. Yeah. So Ryan starts in and says, hey, we've been
- 3:30friends forever three years. I used a laptop. I bought a laptop.
- 3:35I used it for schoolwork and some graphic work I did. We don't get
- 3:38into that anymore than that. Uh. Katie asked to borrow my laptop in
- 3:43early January, and I had let her use it two other times before,
- 3:46no problems, and so I said, sure, just the one, just
- 3:51one laptop. Yeah. She returns it the next day, and when she
- 3:54returns it wouldn't stay on charge, wouldn't hold. I plugged the charger into
- 3:59the wall and immediately there's a burning smell, a smell like it's burning.
- 4:02Do we know why she borrowed the laptop. We don't. She had stuff
- 4:05to do, and I want to know what stuff Katie has to do,
- 4:09because she is out there bonkers. And he said, so the laptop just
- 4:13wouldn't work anymore and clearly. And then I found out she was at a
- 4:16party the night before with the laptop, and she had a friend stay at
- 4:21her house and watch her cat while she was gone. At the party,
- 4:27her cat, and so she needed someone to watch her cat for a party.
- 4:30Oh, we'll get there, okay, and and and Ryan says her
- 4:33cat Ava. And at this point Katie pops in real quick and goes,
- 4:38it's Eva. Yeah, it's not Ava, it's Eva. And don't you
- 4:43dare, don't disrespect the slander Eva in this courtroom. Not now if I
- 4:46called your dog boo boloo, like, would you correct me booballoo? Yeah?
- 4:51Yeah, probably in court? Yeah, when it was my turn,
- 4:57probably, Can I just say one thing on her here? It's boogloo,
- 5:00not a booboloo boobloo boo boo. Uh. He also goes by bobo or
- 5:06good boy. Yes, uh so uh. Katie pops in with it's Eva,
- 5:12not Ava, okay, very well. So she goes all right,
- 5:14Katie, like, what's going on? You borrowed the laptop? You didn't
- 5:16you didn't use it? She said, Well, I decided to go to
- 5:18a party. I left my cats with someone else because my cat's still really
- 5:23young at this point, she's a kitten, and so I wanted somebody there
- 5:26in case the cat needed anything. Yeah, she's a crazy cat lady.
- 5:30And the laptop was at my house too. Obviously, I didn't take it
- 5:32with me, like you know, I didn't want to take the laptop to
- 5:35a party, and uh, the friend watching the cat didn't use it,
- 5:41and she said there wasn't any issue with the court. It was a little
- 5:44loose maybe, but I only used the laptop a little bit. I didn't
- 5:46use it a long time and just a little bit. Ryan pops in and
- 5:49says, she's lying, she's lying. She Uh, she told me when
- 5:56I got the laptop back, it wasn't working at all. And she just
- 6:00told you in court that the cord was a little loose, but it worked
- 6:02fine. That's not what she told me. She told me the laptop wasn't
- 6:05working when she hated it back to me. She said I couldn't get it
- 6:09to work. That's what she said. And Faith says, did you tell
- 6:12him that? And Katie goes, I mean, this happened like a year
- 6:16ago. And Ryan was like, it was January. And Katie says,
- 6:21that's nine months. That's long enough to like have a baby. She's not
- 6:26wrong there, she's not wrong. She's not wrong there. Apparently how long
- 6:29it takes to have a baby. She's like, how am I supposed to
- 6:31remember what I said nine months ago, like you could have had a baby
- 6:34by now. I understand what she's saying, but like typically people don't forget
- 6:41like this true, it's a court of law. It's not like like you
- 6:45have what do you have for breakfast? That's like nine months ago. I
- 6:47don't remember that. But what I do remember is like if the cord was
- 6:50loose, it was it loose or not? Pretty standard? And then Faith
- 6:56says, do you remember telling him the laptop wasn't working? And she said,
- 7:00I don't remember anything from that night. That's fair, Ryan said,
- 7:04I can tell you. I initially trusted her. She was my friend.
- 7:08When the laptop came back it was broken. I called the manufacturer. The
- 7:12manufacturer said it could be a manufacturer's error, but they would give me a
- 7:15discount on a new computer. I bought a new computer from this company,
- 7:21the manufacturer, which we don't say. It wasn't nearly as nice of a
- 7:25computer, but I got a great deal on it. And then nine months
- 7:28later I was complaining about how the computer wasn't as good as the old one.
- 7:31Katie was acting a little shifty. This is nine months later. Fast
- 7:34forward nine months the baby could have been born. By now, baby could
- 7:38have been born. He buys a new computer. The whole thing's dropped.
- 7:42He's complaining about how he misses his old computer. Katie starts acting shifty and
- 7:46says she needed to tell him something that had been weighing on her conscious.
- 7:50Sure, not her conscience, weighing on her conscious. You know how when
- 7:54you're conscious and awake and things weigh on that I do. That's what's happening,
- 7:58lady sleepy. Yeah, yea, yeah, uh, you know it
- 8:01could almost if it gets low enough, it could get into the subconscious.
- 8:05You don't even want that, She said to me. She was at the
- 8:09party nine months ago and the person watching her cat told her that the cat
- 8:16had been messing with my laptop and chewing the cord where it was plugged into
- 8:20the wall. Uh before, but the cat had been playing with the cord.
- 8:26That happened while she was at the party. She confesses this to me
- 8:28nine months later. Faith says, Katie, did you tell him that?
- 8:33And she she goes, I mean I presented it like as a joke,
- 8:37really, like you know, like, wouldn't that be funny if that's what
- 8:41happens. Oh, it's like if I killed my wife, Yes, here's
- 8:45how I would do by oja, but on a much less severe scale.
- 8:48Well, what kind of Wait a minute, Wait a minute, dude,
- 8:52you're getting a dell and Faith says, uh no, did you tell him
- 8:56that? Did you tell him this? And she said, uh, I
- 9:01don't think that it's a joke. I just didn't think it was that serious.
- 9:05I don't know for sure what my cat did. I don't think my
- 9:09cat would do that. Faith said, but you told him that your cat
- 9:16did that? And Katie says, well, somebody did it. And Face
- 9:22said, did you tell him that your cat did it? And Katie says,
- 9:26it's you know what. To be honest, it's very possible my cat
- 9:31did it. My cat's kind of a and then they literally bleep. I
- 9:35think she said something real naughty because they blurn her mouth and everyone in the
- 9:41court. I don't think it was a bee. I think it was we
- 9:43were we went up to chain a little bit. She says that everyone the
- 9:46court goes nut nuts. Faith looks like she can't believe what Katie just said,
- 9:52and she says, you can't use that word either, and then Katie
- 9:58says, I'm really sorry, but I do have pictures of my cat if
- 10:01you want to see her. She's like my baby, unlike someone's laptop.
- 10:05That's fair. So I just want to just run that down real quick.
- 10:09She told me my cat was that her cat was chewing on it according to
- 10:11her friend, did you tell him that? Uh no, I was a
- 10:15joke. Really, so you didn't tell him that I did. And it's
- 10:18not a joke. I just it's not serious. My cat wouldn't do something
- 10:20like that. Did you tell him that? To be honest, my cat's
- 10:24kind of awful. He probably did, did it? That's fair. That's
- 10:26what Katie did. That's that's what happened in the world of Katie. It's
- 10:30an interesting approach, but I appreciate it. Yeah, it wasn't me.
- 10:35So Ryan then presents it was probably right Ryan, I don't know. Never
- 10:39it wouldn't be. I mean, I don't think so. There's no world.
- 10:43I've given it some thought here in court. Yeah, could have.
- 10:46Maybe it probably makes a lot. H This is very likely that I'm in
- 10:52fault. So Ryan presents a Facebook post where Katie writes on her own it's
- 10:58her status. Yes, she's not writing the anyone else and her status says
- 11:01this, it's funny how this is suddenly relevant to you after all of this
- 11:05time, after it's already been dealt with. This is ridiculous. You're ridiculous.
- 11:11This is a real subtweet situation. Yeah, but she just puts it
- 11:13as a Facebook's deck, right, And Faith says, what do you mean
- 11:18it's already been dealt with. She was like, well, he bought a
- 11:20new computer, like it was nine months ago, Like it's over. He
- 11:22bought a new computer. It could have been manufacturer's error, Like this is
- 11:26done. Why is he bringing it up? And Faith's like, you're so
- 11:28immature, Like you could have just talked to him personally about this, but
- 11:31instead you just put it on your Facebook like hoping like hoping he might see
- 11:35it. And Katie was like, she says, Faith says, you just
- 11:41put it on your Facebook wall, and Katie went, they came for me.
- 11:45They came for me, they and Faith is like, who came for
- 11:50you? She was like, yeah, they came for me. They were
- 11:52like on Facebook, like trying to break down my character and bullying me like
- 11:56all of his friends. And Ryan was like all they said was that you're
- 12:01a bad friend, which you are sure enough, she has no proof of
- 12:07any of that, and so then faces like, all right, tell me
- 12:11about the two what all you ssueing for? They came for me? They
- 12:13came for me. I wish I wish she was talking about like aliens.
- 12:16You should see that. Oh she may as well have been. So here's
- 12:20the breakdown. He's suing for the cost of the laptop at brand new price
- 12:26fourteen and eighty nine dollars got it, new computer twelve ninety total of twenty
- 12:31seven seventy nine. The depreciated value of the laptop is seven hundred dollars.
- 12:37So new boy, new laptop at retail fourteen eighty nine depreciated value of what
- 12:43it was at the time that it broke, seven hundred, new computer twelve
- 12:46ninety. He wants full twenty seven to seventy nine. Okay, boy,
- 12:54I mean yeah, okay, I'm just gonna I'm gonna give him. Here's
- 12:58a I'm gonna give him. I'm gonna give him. I'm just gonna give
- 13:05him the money for the computer that was destroyed, not for the new computer.
- 13:11H and also minus I'll give him seven hundred dollars to give him the
- 13:13seven hundred faith agree she gives him seven hundred as well. And what's crazy
- 13:20about this is is that Katie probably could have had a case if she had
- 13:24just not been such a dufist, like if she had just been like the
- 13:28manufacturer said, it could have been an error. We don't know what happened.
- 13:31I wasn't there. I don't know. Then she could have probably gotten
- 13:35out of this, but she was the worst. Yeah, and she didn't.
- 13:39Well, they came for her. They came for me. So what
- 13:41are you gonna do? They came for me. There's only so much you
- 13:43can It was weighing all my conscious Yes, yes, it was, as
- 13:46it does. You want to go to the people's court? Me about million?
- 13:48We got a COVID case over here, COVID case. I got Justin
- 13:52Ross, who's the plaintiff. He's suing Joey Acevado for a twin T five
- 14:03acee Ve d Ovedo. You're just throwing a's where they don't belongs, and
- 14:09a's are interchangeable. Justin owns a business. Now, Justin's business is he
- 14:18buys ATM machines and then he puts ATM machines into other businesses and he collects
- 14:26the surg charges. So whenever you go into a gas station and you use
- 14:31the ATM and it says, hey, there's going to be a two dollars
- 14:35fifty cent surd charge. That surch charge is going to somebody. In this
- 14:39case, it's going to Justin. Okay, Okay, Justin's only twenty one
- 14:43years old. So he's a new business boy, new business boy, and
- 14:46he to start his business. He bought two ATM machines. Okay, so
- 14:52it's say, ATMs, I guess you can do that. What's at stand
- 14:56for Automatic Transactions Action Machine? I think what if the M in ATEM doesn't
- 15:03stand from machine? It has to when that would be something huh uh automatic
- 15:09transaction of Money's machine, Automated teller machine, ooh, telerated teller what we
- 15:18were looking for. So he bought two ATMs to start off his business.
- 15:22At the beginning of twenty twenty, he's reaching out to businesses trying to find
- 15:26homes for these ATMs so that he could then collect the surcharge charge. Surcharge
- 15:33right, uh, And so he reaches out to Joey Acevado Acevedo and Joey's
- 15:41about to start a new business. They agree on a deal and Justin brings
- 15:46the machine in mid February. Construction is still being done to Joey's bar.
- 15:52He's opening a bar and they're supposed to open in March. Okay, March
- 15:58comes a round. Everything shuts down bad times, right, So base a
- 16:07few months, then go by March April May. Those are months, and
- 16:14Justin starts to be like, man, I gotta start making money on this
- 16:17machine, Like, I got to find a new home for the machine.
- 16:19So he reaches out to Joey for a status update on if his business is
- 16:26going to be able to open back up. What's the deal with all that
- 16:29good stuff? And Joey says, we shut down, Oh no, closing
- 16:33it closing it down, shut shut it down. Just said, okay,
- 16:37when can I come and pick up my machine? Joey said, there's no
- 16:41machine? What what Justin is? Like? Whoa? Then in that case,
- 16:48you owe me the money to replace the machine, Joey said, send
- 16:52the receipt, I'll give it to our attorneys. He sent the receipt.
- 16:55The receipt shows that the ATM costs twenty five hundred dollars. Maybe we should
- 16:59get into the at doesn't sound pretty cheap? Yeah, I mean you got
- 17:02to fill it with moneies. But do you fill it with your own money?
- 17:06Yeah? You're buying the machine, you fill it? Great? Okay,
- 17:10Actually I don't know who get does the money get I would assume that
- 17:12whoever is I don't know, he just gets the search charges. But the
- 17:17money has to come from somewhere, right, Yeah, like a bank or
- 17:21like a bank truck or something. Yeah. I'm looking into this happy Yeah.
- 17:25See. Anyway, twenty five hundred dollars is how much the machine costs.
- 17:29Since of that receipt, silence, nothing's happening. Joey's turned to talk.
- 17:33So Joey says, here's the thing. He's shut down due to COVID.
- 17:37And I, you know, when I realized I was gonna shut down,
- 17:41I went over to the machine and I found the number that's on the
- 17:45machine, called it up. Two guys showed up. It wasn't Justin,
- 17:48but you know whatever. Two guys show up to pick up the machine,
- 17:53and that's it. And Judge says, well, why didn't you call called
- 17:57Justin who you've been dealing with this whole time? And he said, well,
- 18:00in the process I got a new phone lost his number. Ye classic
- 18:04Judge says, well, why didn't you look at the contract to find his
- 18:08number or his address? He said, well, there was a number on
- 18:11the ATM machine. Figured that would that would get the job done. But
- 18:15I guess I should have have found his lumber So anyways, he said,
- 18:19I called the number. Two guys showed up. They had keys, They
- 18:23opened up the machine. They opened up the machine and uh, they say,
- 18:29there's nothing in this machine, empty box. We'll just throw it away.
- 18:34I don't know, we'll throw away the machine that they took the machine.
- 18:38They said, it's just an empty box, just that it's it's worthless,
- 18:41all right, So they they took it. And Judge asks for surveillance
- 18:48videos showing the two guys and he says, I gave it to the police.
- 18:52I don't have it. They said it doesn't show much. It just
- 18:56shows two guys coming in and taking the machine. And she says, why
- 19:00didn't you send this video to me as evidence? And he said, I
- 19:03don't know. I was supposed to do that, so well, so there
- 19:07you go. So uh. Judge then asked Justin if there's a theft market
- 19:11when it comes to ATM machines or people trying to steal ATM machines all the
- 19:15time, and he says, yes, yes there is because there's money,
- 19:18money and money inside. So people tend to take them, rip them open,
- 19:22take the money, and then discard the machine. And once the machine
- 19:26is like uh, opened with force? Can't you can't do it all and
- 19:33all done. That's exactly right. So she uh then says is there a
- 19:38number on the machine and he says, yes, there is a number on
- 19:42the machine. I get the machine from ATM. Creators are the ones that
- 19:48are working with the banks, probably the money so I then he says,
- 19:55I. Then I called When I found out that he called that number,
- 19:57I called my people at the company and inquired about this. They said,
- 20:03we never got a call from from Joey's from Joey's, and so there's nothing
- 20:12that they can do about it. So you might be asking, Dan,
- 20:15what's a question you're asking yourself right now when it comes to this case.
- 20:19I can't imagine a world where this case goes anyway other than to justin Well,
- 20:26here's the good news, Dan. There's a contract, as there tends
- 20:30to be for these sakes. But in the contract it very specifically states that
- 20:37once the ATM is in your building. It is your responsibility. If something
- 20:41happens to the machine, you are then liable to pay for the machine.
- 20:48And so now the question is is Justin sorry, is Joey at fault if
- 20:57someone did come and take the machine that wasn't a part he said, they
- 21:03never got a phone call. That is what they said. Yes, so
- 21:06he has no proof someone came and took the machine. He has no proof
- 21:08of these two guys with keys. That's true. He has no proof of
- 21:11that. Yes, he stole it. So Judge says, after they you
- 21:15sent the receipts to Joey. What did Joey do? And Joey says,
- 21:21listen, here's what I did. I told him I have the intent to
- 21:25pay. I'm planning on paying this. He then threatened legal action. My
- 21:30attorney advised me not to pay, and Judge says, I don't see any
- 21:36text showing intent on your end, so that doesn't really matter, and it's
- 21:41time for the judge. Oh my goodness, if Justin has awarded anything less
- 21:45than the full amount or more, I'm gonna be upset. Got to give
- 21:48it to Justin. Joey's as he is getting the full amount and more.
- 21:52I love it. He's getting twenty five hundred plus interest plus court costs,
- 21:56which I guess is the cost of his Zoom member ship. I don't know,
- 22:02Yes, twenty five hundred plus interest. So whatever time this was taking
- 22:06place, this one aired in November of twenty twenty, so a few months
- 22:08of interest on a machine that he doesn't own any money. I don't know
- 22:11what the interest is. They don't get it over three thousand, yeah,
- 22:15I don't I don't know. I don't know, but at least at least
- 22:17twenty five hundred. And they're a matchmak. And after the case they have
- 22:23like a judge judge on judge, the conversation where Judge each of them mulan,
- 22:30what's her name? Million? I don't know how many times you can
- 22:34Judge bill Yon is talking to I don't know, as her husband to judge
- 22:38I don't know. She's talking to someone else with legal standing, and they
- 22:42talk about what they think happened. And they they think that once his business
- 22:48shut down, he was trapped for cash, probably opened up the machine,
