- 0:00Speaker 1: There's something about the warm summer air and a cold
- 0:02Speaker 1: corona with lime that makes the roar of the crowd
- 0:05Speaker 1: sound a lot like the roar of the waves.
- 0:07Speaker 2: That's because this is our playa, and the best seats
- 0:09Speaker 2: are always wherever you're sitting.
- 0:11Speaker 1: Whether it's a weeknight game under the lights or a
- 0:13Speaker 1: Sunday afternoon in the sun, you know baseball isn't about
- 0:16Speaker 1: rushing around. It's about settling in, letting the game come
- 0:19Speaker 1: to you. And nothing pairs better than an ice-cold corona. Nothing.
- 0:25Speaker 2: So find your seat, your corona, and your lime. Because
- 0:29Speaker 2: real fans know the only thing better than nine innings
- 0:32Speaker 2: is extra innings, especially on La Playa.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Corona.
- 0:37Speaker 2: La Playa awaits.
- 0:39Speaker 1: The official cerveza of Major League Baseball. Get yours at

- 0:48Speaker 1: by Crown Imports, Chicago, Illinois. What's up, guys? I need
- 0:52Speaker 1: to tell you about this new prediction market called Polymarket.
- 0:55Speaker 1: It's the best new way to trade in sports. In
- 0:58Speaker 1: the past, if you wanted action on the game, you'd
- 1:01Speaker 1: put some money in, and if your team was doing
- 1:03Speaker 1: well and you wanted to cash out, they'd lock the
- 1:05Speaker 1: trade and take a huge fee. But Polymarket is a
- 1:08Speaker 1: prediction market. It's a stock exchange for sports, buying in
- 1:12Speaker 1: and selling out on your terms. I've tried them all,
- 1:14Speaker 1: and Polymarket is simply the best prediction market. Better than DraftKings, FanDuel, Kalshi,
- 1:20Speaker 1: you name it. They're so confident you'll never go back
- 1:23Speaker 1: to the other guys. They're giving you a free $ 25
- 1:25Speaker 1: on your first trade when you deposit just $ 10. And
- 1:28Speaker 1: now they've launched a new feature, Squads, a group chat
- 1:31Speaker 1: where you can see what everyone is trading. So download
- 1:34Speaker 1: the Polymarket app today and use the code RossRizzo when
- 1:37Speaker 1: you sign up. That's code RossRizzo and get $ 25 free
- 1:42Speaker 1: after you deposit just $ 10.
- 1:44Speaker 3: Welcome back to another episode of Ross and Rizzo on Filter.
- 1:47Speaker 3: We are here with you all October long. The division
- 1:51Speaker 3: series is underway. We had some good games today that
- 1:54Speaker 3: did not disappoint Rossi. Starting out with the White Sox
- 1:58Speaker 3: making a statement. 3-0 win over the Guardians. The Dodgers,
- 2:02Speaker 3: the back-to-back defending champs, beat the Braves 5-3. The Rays
- 2:07Speaker 3: win a nail-biter over the Yankees, 1-0. And the Brewers
- 2:13Speaker 3: beating the San Diego Padres. A little bit of controversy there.
- 2:16Speaker 3: Amazing game. Cannot wait to break them down. Patna, let's
- 2:20Speaker 3: start with the Padres Brewers game.
- 2:23Speaker 1: Bro, bro, what? We got some good baseball today. It
- 2:27Speaker 1: was nice to be back home and lock into some
- 2:31Speaker 1: games again. That off day felt like it was way
- 2:34Speaker 1: too long.
- 2:35Speaker 3: Right?
- 2:36Speaker 1: Right? Man, what a, you know, the Padres jumping on
- 2:41Speaker 1: the Miz. I mean, that stood out to me right away.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I mean, the Miz is I think it was, what,
- 2:46Speaker 1: four innings, four and some change, and just absolutely, he
- 2:50Speaker 1: settled in, but for them to jump out to a
- 2:52Speaker 1: two-run lead, you're like, uh-oh, the Padres, the Padres are
- 2:56Speaker 1: real good at bats.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Like, I mean, they carry the momentum in.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Yep, yep. And you're like, is it another, same with
- 3:04Speaker 1: some of the other games, is this another, like, okay,
- 3:06Speaker 1: the layoff affects some guys, like, you know, with the
- 3:09Speaker 1: close games we had. Man, so much to talk about.
- 3:12Speaker 3: Yeah, well- Did the layoff affect them? And I said
- 3:17Speaker 3: on the preview show, the stars need to star. And
- 3:21Speaker 3: who steps up? Churrio hits the two-run homer to tie
- 3:24Speaker 3: the game. So, and then the whole Brewers exhale. And
- 3:29Speaker 3: then it gets down to William Contreras hitting the opposite
- 3:33Speaker 3: field home run off.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Bro, more home. Yeah, he crushed that ball.
- 3:39Speaker 3: Bro, that at bat, I want to break this at
- 3:41Speaker 3: bat down, Rossi.
- 3:42Speaker 1: All right.
- 3:44Speaker 3: First two guys who made the first two pitches, right?
- 3:47Speaker 3: William Contreras comes up. He's 2-0. He takes a 2-0
- 3:53Speaker 3: pitch right down the middle fastball. Just timed it up.
- 3:56Speaker 3: Next pitch ball, 3-1. He swung at a 99-mile-an-hour fastball
- 4:02Speaker 3: or 100-mile-an-hour fastball, maybe five inches above the zone and
- 4:07Speaker 3: was on it.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:09Speaker 3: And I was like, ooh, I wouldn't throw that pitch again, right?
- 4:12Speaker 3: Like watching the game. And then next pitch, fastball away,
- 4:17Speaker 3: middle of the zone, and he just hits a bomb. Bro,
- 4:24Speaker 3: that was a bomb.
- 4:25Speaker 1: That was a bomb.
- 4:27Speaker 3: That was all set up there. He could have swung
- 4:29Speaker 3: out of his shoes 2-0, but he timed up the fastball.
- 4:32Speaker 3: Then by him seeing that fastball and timing up that
- 4:36Speaker 3: 3-1 pitch that he swung out on top of the zone,
- 4:38Speaker 3: he was right on it. It was a great at-bat.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Yeah, it was a really good at-bat, and that, like,
- 4:43Speaker 1: This is, like, what I– I know all the craziness about,
- 4:47Speaker 1: you know, the roof and all to end it, but, like,
- 4:50Speaker 1: I think the game was so well played, both sides,
- 4:53Speaker 1: so well pitched. The bullpens, like, both bullpens are great. Like,
- 4:58Speaker 1: the Brewers, we don't talk enough about their bullpen. Our
- 5:00Speaker 1: guy Trevor McGill coming in, like, Pat Murphy nailed that thing.
- 5:05Speaker 1: They take that 3-2 lead late on that homer, and
- 5:09Speaker 1: then it was this pitching. I think, what was it,
- 5:11Speaker 1: the Brewers had five innings? out of the bullpen, no runs. Like,
- 5:16Speaker 1: that's doing it. That's doing it with a lot of
- 5:18Speaker 1: different arms, a lot of different looks, mid-inning changes. Like,
- 5:22Speaker 1: some guys didn't get a clean inning, went back out. Like,
- 5:25Speaker 1: that was really well done by Pat Murphy.
- 5:28Speaker 3: Did Ty France get robbed?
- 5:31Speaker 1: Man, I've been there. I've been in those meetings. Like,
- 5:33Speaker 1: that's the rule. If it hits fair on the rafters
- 5:39Speaker 1: and it kicks back in play, it's a live ball. Like,
- 5:42Speaker 1: I've been in the home play meeting. I don't know.
- 5:45Speaker 1: I guess all the Padres guys are saying with the
- 5:47Speaker 1: launch angle and the exit velocity. But Pat Murphy said
- 5:50Speaker 1: in his post-game conference, like, he's got the best view.
- 5:53Speaker 1: He's right on that line. He said it was going foul. Like,
- 5:57Speaker 1: you know, do we trust Pat Murphy? By the way,
- 5:59Speaker 1: Ty France reacted, though, that ball was going foul.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 6:04Speaker 3: I wish we could see the dugout reaction because– The
- 6:08Speaker 3: way Ty France reacted, if you hit a home run
- 6:11Speaker 3: there to tie the game, or it would have been
- 6:13Speaker 3: a go-ahead home run, I believe.
- 6:14Speaker 1: It would have been a go-ahead, yeah, because Harris had
- 6:17Speaker 1: an amazing at-bat to lead off that inning. Don't forget that.
- 6:20Speaker 1: What a great A-B it was. Trevor McGill coming back out,
- 6:23Speaker 1: and you're like, first man on. We got their horses
- 6:26Speaker 1: coming up. Like, this game could get hairy.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Yeah, so the way Ty France reacted, if you hit
- 6:32Speaker 3: that big of a home run, you're you're probably going crazy.
- 6:36Speaker 3: So he kind of reacted more like, oh, is it
- 6:38Speaker 3: going to stay foul or fair? And then it hits
- 6:41Speaker 3: the awning. And the way Churio was– Jackson Churio was
- 6:44Speaker 3: running towards the ball. So why is he running towards that, right?
- 6:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:49Speaker 3: That's just– That's a good point.
- 6:51Speaker 1: That's a good point. He was running hard towards the line.
- 6:53Speaker 3: He was running hard. It would have been the highest
- 6:56Speaker 3: launch angle home run of the season. I think it
- 6:58Speaker 3: was at 48 degrees. Look at you pulling that up.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Let's go. I know. Shout out to our– Yeah, shout
- 7:04Speaker 3: out to Chris.
- 7:04Speaker 1: Well, that's nailed that, Chris.
- 7:06Speaker 3: Nice stat.
- 7:06Speaker 1: That's a good stat.
- 7:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:08Speaker 1: That's a good stat.
- 7:08Speaker 3: But what a great game to kick it out.
- 7:10Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Electric.
- 7:11Speaker 3: Electric atmosphere.
- 7:12Speaker 1: That's exactly– I've been waiting around all day. Like that
- 7:16Speaker 1: was the bucket list one that we were talking about
- 7:18Speaker 1: we were really looking forward to, and that didn't disappoint.
- 7:21Speaker 3: The Brewers fan, that place gets loud. The Brewers fan
- 7:24Speaker 3: showed up and were excited about this team. And the
- 7:28Speaker 3: Milwaukee Brewers, that's how they won all year, right? They
- 7:32Speaker 3: win all year by, like, comeback wins and just not
- 7:34Speaker 3: giving in, good pitching. So, congrats to them. You know, hey,
- 7:39Speaker 3: another thing to note, you know what I was shaking
- 7:42Speaker 3: my head on? Pat Murphy pinch hit for newly appointed
- 7:48Speaker 3: captain Christian Yelich for Andrew Vaughn there in the eighth.
- 7:52Speaker 3: I was like, damn, like, You pitch him for your captain,
- 7:56Speaker 3: that's good communication, first off, if you're doing that in
- 7:59Speaker 3: game one, right? That's being communicated to Christian Yelich, like, hey,
- 8:03Speaker 3: we may do this. I'm sure that didn't catch him
- 8:05Speaker 3: by surprise.
- 8:07Speaker 1: No, and two, it's a credit to the veteran leadership
- 8:11Speaker 1: that Christian Yelich knows. He's like, okay, this guy's got
- 8:14Speaker 1: a really good chance to do something. And he came
- 8:16Speaker 1: up with a hit, which obviously we get outcome bias. But, yeah,
- 8:21Speaker 1: I mean– It looks like everybody's on board, all hands
- 8:24Speaker 1: on deck. These guys know they're the best team in
- 8:27Speaker 1: baseball and prove that, and they're expecting a World Series run,
- 8:30Speaker 1: and everybody's going to have to contribute.
- 8:32Speaker 3: That's a great start for them. The Padres got Michael
- 8:36Speaker 3: King going game two, and the Brewers have Logan Henderson tomorrow,
- 8:40Speaker 3: so that's going to be must-watch television again. Starting off
- 8:44Speaker 3: the day, Rossi, White Sox making a statement, going into Cleveland,
- 8:48Speaker 3: my favorite road city in America. It's near and dear
- 8:52Speaker 3: to my heart, obviously. Beating the Guardians 3-0, man.
- 8:58Speaker 1: Murakami! I need more Murakami.
- 9:01Speaker 3: I am Japanese!
- 9:02Speaker 1: 100! That was a big home run for him.
- 9:08Speaker 3: Hey, let me just tell you something to Murakami. I
- 9:11Speaker 3: don't know if you'll ever see this, but Each round
- 9:14Speaker 3: you keep advancing, the drunker you'll get, I promise, just
- 9:17Speaker 3: from first-hand experience.
- 9:20Speaker 1: No doubt.
- 9:20Speaker 3: But how about, bro, how about Hagan Smith, bro? Him
- 9:24Speaker 3: and Parker Messick, two dominant lefties. I'm guilty. I didn't
- 9:29Speaker 3: know much about these two. They are throwing BBs from
- 9:33Speaker 3: the left side with nasty off-speed, bro.
- 9:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. We just had Boston, Cleveland, and Messick and
- 9:40Speaker 1: Tully through the night before. And did like an interview
- 9:44Speaker 1: with us pregame. And like, first of all, one of
- 9:47Speaker 1: the most likable guys. He's from Tallahassee. He's from he
- 9:51Speaker 1: went to school here, Florida State pitcher. And just I mean,
- 9:55Speaker 1: he's had a phenomenal rookie season. This guy's an absolute stud.
- 9:59Speaker 1: And he showed it tonight. Big homer from Eric Conley.
- 10:01Speaker 1: But his changeup is filthy.
- 10:04Speaker 3: Filthy. Bro, and then Hagan Smith, bro. Second straight time
- 10:08Speaker 3: Will Venable goes to the bullpen game, which you can
- 10:11Speaker 3: because they have a day off tomorrow. So Smith went 2-2. Two-thirds,
- 10:17Speaker 3: striking out four. The rest of bullpen only allowed three hits, Rossi.
- 10:21Speaker 1: Bro, these dudes are legit. K, Jordan Hicks has been,
- 10:27Speaker 1: in the postseason so far, he has been that bridge
- 10:31Speaker 1: guy that throws nasty stuff. And he's been a starter,
- 10:35Speaker 1: been a reliever. He knows any role. And he's coming
- 10:39Speaker 1: out in those kind of critical, just when you start
- 10:41Speaker 1: to get comfortable as a hitter, innings. And just been
- 10:44Speaker 1: shutting the door. And then, obviously, Grant Taylor, like, nasty.
- 10:48Speaker 3: Four inning save?
- 10:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Just freaking filthy. Like, it's ridiculous, bro.
- 10:55Speaker 3: And a low pitch count. And a low pitch count,
- 10:57Speaker 3: four inning save. Yep.
- 10:58Speaker 1: The only thing, everybody, let's get ahead of the bug.
- 11:02Speaker 1: This is how they're going to win. This is how
- 11:03Speaker 1: they're going to do it. So, if Cleveland comes back
- 11:07Speaker 1: and gets hit off those guys, that is going to happen.
- 11:09Speaker 1: They're going to get some hits. Now, the more you
- 11:11Speaker 1: see a guy, we see sometimes in the playoffs, Like,
- 11:14Speaker 1: the better chance you get. I don't know. We're going
- 11:16Speaker 1: to have to see how this thing plays out. We will.
- 11:20Speaker 1: We got a Chicago team up one.
- 11:22Speaker 3: Can't believe we're talking about the Chicago White Sox and
- 11:26Speaker 3: the Milwaukee Brewers like we are. It's great, right? I
- 11:29Speaker 3: love it, bro. I love it. I love it. And
- 11:31Speaker 3: to Cleveland.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Here, Cleveland, just a little bit, like, they couldn't get
- 11:35Speaker 1: anything offensively going off those guys.
- 11:38Speaker 3: Five-day layoff.
- 11:39Speaker 1: Five-day layoff. But also, like, I heard a stat on
- 11:44Speaker 1: the broadcast of, like, they were the lowest team at
- 11:47Speaker 1: hitting with scoring runs with runners in scoring position, right?
- 11:50Speaker 1: OPS with runners in scoring position. With two outs, sorry,
- 11:54Speaker 1: with two outs. And so that came up today. They
- 11:57Speaker 1: left some guys on, and they didn't get anything really going.
- 12:00Speaker 1: I take that back, not leaving guys on, but they
- 12:02Speaker 1: didn't get a– all their hits were with two outs
- 12:05Speaker 1: until the seventh inning, and they got the leadoff guy
- 12:07Speaker 1: on into a double play. But, like, you know as
- 12:09Speaker 1: an offense when you're– Get that leadoff guy on. You
- 12:13Speaker 1: get a little bit of momentum. Like, it just feels
- 12:15Speaker 1: like just a lazy knock when you get it with
- 12:17Speaker 1: two strikes unless somebody's on base or in the right position, right? Yeah.
- 12:21Speaker 3: Did you hear the Japanese call for Murray Kama? Yeah.
- 12:26Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:27Speaker 3: How about that? For whoever's listening, if you haven't heard that,
- 12:30Speaker 3: go tune into it. It's up there with like a
- 12:38Speaker 3: Spanish person's call in soccer. When they just hold goal
- 12:43Speaker 3: for so long. It gave me goosebumps listening to it.
- 12:48Speaker 3: What a big moment for Morikawa, man. He's got big
- 12:52Speaker 3: time power, bro. Colson Montgomery had two more hits from
- 12:55Speaker 3: the nine hole. These dudes are doing it, man. He
- 12:59Speaker 3: had RBI extending the lead, getting their confidence. All these
- 13:04Speaker 3: early hits in this postseason, it's just confidence, bro. They
- 13:07Speaker 3: know these guardians, so it's not like They're so familiar
- 13:11Speaker 3: with them.
- 13:12Speaker 1: And they've played close games. We got AL strikeout leader
- 13:17Speaker 1: Gavin Williams going game two for Cleveland.
- 13:22Speaker 3: And that's on Monday. We'll see. We'll see what the
- 13:25Speaker 3: White Sox are doing. That's the beauty of these series,
- 13:27Speaker 3: the American League series, is they can blow out all
- 13:31Speaker 3: these guys. They blow out the bullpen. I wouldn't be
- 13:33Speaker 3: surprised if they go to a bullpen game again.
- 13:35Speaker 1: They've just been piecing it together. I don't know that
- 13:39Speaker 1: old saying, like, just like they got a bunch of
- 13:43Speaker 1: guys with nasty stuff trying to get outs. Yeah. They're
- 13:45Speaker 1: just trying to get outs.
- 13:46Speaker 3: That's it.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Just stack them on each other.
- 13:48Speaker 3: Don't talk to each other. And a good thing, like
- 13:49Speaker 3: you said, for the White Sox is they saw the
- 13:54Speaker 3: Guardians kind of three-headed monster at the back end of
- 13:57Speaker 3: their bullpen because they have to pitch. They hadn't pitched
- 14:00Speaker 3: since Sunday. They maybe threw a sim game during the week.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Right.
- 14:04Speaker 3: But they saw Kate Smith. They saw Hunter Gattis, right? So.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 14:09Speaker 3: Again, as you get deeper in these series, it's advantage
- 14:11Speaker 3: to the hitters.
- 14:13Speaker 1: For seeing these bullpen guys. Yeah, and hopefully they get
- 14:18Speaker 1: a little bit, you know, the juice of the first
- 14:20Speaker 1: round and all that.
- 14:22Speaker 3: I do have to note that when Colson Montgomery had
- 14:28Speaker 3: his base hit to extend the lead to three, it
- 14:31Speaker 3: was a beautifully paced ball down the third baseline there
- 14:35Speaker 3: in Cleveland. Yeah. I'm just saying, Guardians, I want to
- 14:38Speaker 3: see this go five. I have a soft spot for
- 14:41Speaker 3: you guys in my heart, but that did make me
- 14:43Speaker 3: happy seeing the ball go down the third baseline. You
- 14:45Speaker 3: know what I mean, Rossi?
- 14:49Speaker 1: That's messed up, bro.
- 14:50Speaker 3: That is messed up.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Bro, their third base coach, what a send that was
- 14:57Speaker 1: for the third base coach.
- 14:58Speaker 3: No doubt.
- 14:59Speaker 1: For the White Sox. I got his name, Justin Gershaw,
- 15:03Speaker 1: I think. I don't know how you pronounce it, but
- 15:06Speaker 1: I probably should.
- 15:07Speaker 3: Dude, these guys are so under the gun, man. It's
- 15:09Speaker 3: so much pressure being under this.
- 15:10Speaker 1: Yeah, good send. Really good send there. Probably by, for
- 15:13Speaker 1: it to Teal, a catcher, catcher running.
- 15:15Speaker 3: Let's go, bro. Yeah, you texted it saying catcher with
- 15:18Speaker 3: some speed.
- 15:19Speaker 1: Catcher with some speed, baby. Catcher with some speed. Teal hustling.
- 15:23Speaker 1: I like his game. All right, let's get to.
- 15:27Speaker 3: Dodgers beat the Braves 5-3. Scooble, Terrence Scooble shines. Dodger
- 15:33Speaker 3: playoff debut, six innings, two hits. 107 Ks. He, bro, he's,
- 15:40Speaker 3: he had some starts with the Tigers in the playoffs
- 15:42Speaker 3: and he dominated and set in the tone for the
- 15:46Speaker 3: back-to-back defending champs. And here we go, boys. Hop on.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Hop on my back.
- 15:51Speaker 1: And I want to give some love to Dylan Dobbs. He,
- 15:54Speaker 1: or Dodds, excuse me. He, he threw three great innings. Like,
- 15:59Speaker 1: I was worried about the Atlanta pitching and using all
- 16:02Speaker 1: those guys. Obviously, It bit him a little bit, but
- 16:05Speaker 1: he had three, being an opener, three innings, did a
- 16:09Speaker 1: really nice job. Really settled in. It looks like Dodger hitters,
- 16:12Speaker 1: they're trying to get their timing, get those at-bats like
- 16:15Speaker 1: you talked about with that layoff, and then Tay Oscar
- 16:17Speaker 1: with the big slider right down the middle just crushed
- 16:22Speaker 1: that ball. He stood there a minute.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Of course he did. Tay Oscar's a stud, bro. I
- 16:28Speaker 3: think he didn't have his best season, but That whole lineup, man,
- 16:33Speaker 3: you can't hold them down. You can maybe contain them,
- 16:36Speaker 3: but one of those superstars is going to superstar. One
- 16:40Speaker 3: of them is going to get hot. It's just too
- 16:43Speaker 3: good of a Dodger lineup. And Max Muncy is hitting
- 16:48Speaker 3: eighth in that lineup.
- 16:49Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 16:50Speaker 3: Max Muncy does not get nearly the amount of love
- 16:54Speaker 3: in the big leagues for how good he's been, and
- 16:56Speaker 3: especially in the playoffs. And on top of that, I
- 17:00Speaker 3: was shocked. that literally you combined Aaron Judge, Shohei Tani,
- 17:06Speaker 3: and Babe Ruth, and you come out with Kike Hernandez
- 17:09Speaker 3: in the playoffs in October, and he's not even in
- 17:11Speaker 3: the lineup.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Yet. That is crazy, right?
- 17:15Speaker 3: Right? That is crazy. So they're a good lineup. Winning
- 17:20Speaker 3: that game definitely sets the tone for them. Yeah. The
- 17:23Speaker 3: Braves knew they were short. Scrooge was nasty. The Braves
- 17:27Speaker 3: knew they were shorthanded, right? They still fought. They competed.
- 17:30Speaker 3: Albies with a homer there in the ninth. They had
- 17:34Speaker 3: Sale up for a.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Minute until they broke it open.
- 17:38Speaker 3: I said it. I said it, Rossi.
- 17:40Speaker 1: You did say it.
- 17:41Speaker 3: It's potentially said. We could see Sale in one of
- 17:43Speaker 3: these first two games out of the bullpen.
- 17:45Speaker 1: Hey, I got to give some shout-out. Shout-out Sean Murphy.
- 17:48Speaker 1: Put him in a 2-1. Got to give some love
- 17:50Speaker 1: to the catchers. There might be a theme in this
- 17:53Speaker 1: episode that has to do with the catchers. Teal scoring Murphy. Homer,
- 18:00Speaker 1: we've got Contreras, Homer, and there might be another game
- 18:03Speaker 1: where the catcher had a big impact.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Hey, how about Kyle Tucker, too? Down year, at times
- 18:11Speaker 3: almost got booed by the Dodgers fans, and then comes
- 18:16Speaker 3: out and hits a home run, first postseason game for
- 18:18Speaker 3: the Dodgers. Bro, again, if Kyle Tucker gets hot now,
- 18:23Speaker 3: you know what I mean? He can carry this team
- 18:25Speaker 3: for a month. One of these guys gets hot. You
- 18:29Speaker 3: have Blake Snell going game two and Yamamoto game three.
- 18:33Speaker 3: They haven't even unleashed these guys yet.
- 18:37Speaker 1: Hey, bro, you said if Kyle Tucker is locked in,
- 18:41Speaker 1: it's over. It may be over. The only thing, if
- 18:45Speaker 1: the bullpen, the bullpen's the only thing, like obviously Scott
- 18:48Speaker 1: tonight didn't, you know, not having his stuff. That's the
- 18:52Speaker 1: only thing that's going to affect the Dodgers if they're
- 18:54Speaker 1: not going to win the whole thing. If those guys are,
- 18:57Speaker 1: if Mookie... Muncie. Muncie's got over 800 OPS in the postseason.
- 19:02Speaker 1: This dude knows, right? Kyle Tucker has a big postseason
- 19:07Speaker 1: for the Dodgers. Man, that's an offense.
- 19:10Speaker 3: And you know Kike at some point is going to
- 19:12Speaker 3: be in here doing what he does in October. You
- 19:15Speaker 3: know what I mean?
- 19:18Speaker 1: No doubt.
- 19:19Speaker 3: The good news for, I feel like, the National League
- 19:21Speaker 3: is you just get right back on the saddle tomorrow.
- 19:24Speaker 3: The American League, the losers, it sucks. You've got to
- 19:26Speaker 3: sit there and kind of sulk all night Obviously, you
- 19:29Speaker 3: turn the page, but you just want to get back
- 19:31Speaker 3: out there and play. So that's going to be a
- 19:35Speaker 3: fun one to watch tomorrow. That'll be a fun one.
- 19:38Speaker 3: And then the Rays beating the Yankees, bro, that was
- 19:40Speaker 3: a nail-biter the whole game.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I love pitching and defense, and that was like, what
- 19:49Speaker 1: a game. Those guys were carving. Garrett Cole would shove it.
- 19:53Speaker 1: Garrett Cole saw somebody get up in the bullpen, and
- 19:56Speaker 1: he went to freaking 99 four-seamers right by everybody. He
- 20:01Speaker 1: was fused on angry balls. Yeah.
- 20:03Speaker 3: I mean, bro, the Yankees have four aces, right? Rasmussen
- 20:07Speaker 3: today shined. eight innings, one hit, gave up, gave up
- 20:12Speaker 3: a double to Austin Wells, which is a little controversial,
- 20:16Speaker 3: two outs and Wells goes the third on that. And
- 20:19Speaker 3: you're scratching your head. Like, what are you doing? Why
- 20:21Speaker 3: not just stop at second? Right. And I get it.
- 20:23Speaker 3: He's trying to create some momentum, right? The Yankees offense,
- 20:27Speaker 3: literally like they do say up until that point, he's
- 20:30Speaker 3: trying to spark.
- 20:31Speaker 1: I know. I think he, I think his emotions just
- 20:33Speaker 1: got the best of him, right? Like he, That's the
- 20:36Speaker 1: first hit they had. No hitter going into that at bat.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Two outs in the eighth. And he hits a double
- 20:43Speaker 1: down the line. Obviously, you know, we've all been there.
- 20:48Speaker 1: It sucks when it's in the postseason in that moment.
- 20:50Speaker 1: But Rasmussen is just absolutely nasty. And who knows if
- 20:55Speaker 1: the next guy was going to get a hit or not, right?
- 20:57Speaker 1: We'll never know. It was bad base running.
- 20:59Speaker 3: Well, do you bring in– do they bring in the closer?
- 21:02Speaker 3: Do they bring in Baker? That's the question. Does Kevin
- 21:04Speaker 3: Cash go to his bullpen? And then if he does– Do.
- 21:07Speaker 1: You even have him up with a no-hitter goal? I
- 21:09Speaker 1: didn't see the pitch count. I should go back and
- 21:11Speaker 1: look at the pitch count. Do you even have him.
- 21:12Speaker 3: Up with a no-hitter? Yeah, he was over 100 pitches.
- 21:15Speaker 1: Okay.
- 21:16Speaker 3: But with Wells, it's like, dude, get into second and
- 21:19Speaker 3: then start pumping your team up, right?
- 21:21Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 21:22Speaker 3: And he said he took a chance. He felt convicted
- 21:24Speaker 3: in it. But, dude, Louie Rojas had the stop sign
- 21:29Speaker 3: up right away.
- 21:30Speaker 1: I've been convicted in bad decisions too in my life.
- 21:32Speaker 1: I have been very convicted in– And it sometimes doesn't
- 21:36Speaker 1: work out, bro. Like, that's baseball. Like, what a great
- 21:39Speaker 1: pitch game by both teams. You know, the big home
- 21:43Speaker 1: run by Aranda. We talked about him. And it's not,
- 21:47Speaker 1: like you said, not just his job to hit home runs.
- 21:50Speaker 1: I think he had 22 this year. But quality at-bats,
- 21:52Speaker 1: get on base for Cominero Jr. And, you know, the
- 21:57Speaker 1: fact of what that home run, I mean, that sealed it.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Like a 1-0 game. That was what a great game.
- 22:05Speaker 3: It almost seemed like the all left-handed lineup played in
- 22:09Speaker 3: Rasmussen's favor.
- 22:12Speaker 1: So I thought about that, and I'm glad you brought
- 22:15Speaker 1: that up because sometimes when you play platoon splits heavily,
- 22:20Speaker 1: like you're going with the advantage, it's like when people
- 22:23Speaker 1: loaded the lineup down with righties against Leicester, You just knew, oh,
- 22:28Speaker 1: he got a great feel for the cutter. He got
- 22:30Speaker 1: a great feel for pounding it to one side of
- 22:32Speaker 1: the plate. He didn't have to really work about the
- 22:34Speaker 1: other side of the plate except for a backdoor cutter.
- 22:36Speaker 1: He didn't have to throw really any two-seamers. You know,
- 22:39Speaker 1: he's not a change-up guy. So it just, they almost
- 22:44Speaker 1: get comfortable sometimes. It gets nice. That's where I think
- 22:46Speaker 1: Judge is a big loss. Judge is a, Judge, when
- 22:49Speaker 1: you have a lineup that has, you have like one
- 22:52Speaker 1: or two platoon players things throughout the year like we're
- 22:55Speaker 1: going to we're going to platoon these two positions right
- 22:58Speaker 1: and the other guys just face lefties and righties so
- 23:00Speaker 1: whatever they are but when you have like eight lefties
- 23:03Speaker 1: or eight righties in the lineup trying to do it
- 23:05Speaker 1: the pitcher I feel like it's really comfortable and that's
- 23:07Speaker 1: where the judge is lost he would have been another
- 23:09Speaker 1: big time right-handed bat that would have made Rasmussen just
- 23:12Speaker 1: do a little something different.
- 23:14Speaker 3: No doubt I you know that was I mean we
- 23:16Speaker 3: haven't talked about that was the the big news this
- 23:18Speaker 3: morning is Aaron not being on the division series roster
- 23:23Speaker 3: which is a huge blow, right? I thought maybe there
- 23:27Speaker 3: was a way for him to play in game three, right?
- 23:30Speaker 3: And be a pinch hit option in the first two games.
- 23:33Speaker 3: And then you get back to New York and you're
- 23:34Speaker 3: back on grass. But the reason I thought that is
- 23:40Speaker 3: because you see him hitting BP on the network and
- 23:44Speaker 3: he looks good hitting BP, but hitting and running is
- 23:47Speaker 3: totally two different total things. So That does hurt them,
- 23:51Speaker 3: especially in a series like this versus the Rays where
- 23:54Speaker 3: Kevin Cash said it too. He's like, yeah, you're game
- 23:57Speaker 3: planning totally different now. You game plan around Aaron Judge.
- 24:01Speaker 3: He's hit big home runs off us. The lineup, it's
- 24:03Speaker 3: weird not seeing him in the lineup for the Yankees.
- 24:05Speaker 3: So he'll take it. They'll take it. This is what,
- 24:09Speaker 3: if you're a Rays fan, and you know what? You
- 24:12Speaker 3: got to give a shout out to the Trop, right?
- 24:15Speaker 3: That place was absolutely rocking.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Glad you brought that up.
- 24:19Speaker 3: The fans in Tampa and St. Petersburg, I feel like
- 24:24Speaker 3: go through a lot dealing with the trop, especially with
- 24:27Speaker 3: the hurricane. It's not in the best location. It's not
- 24:30Speaker 3: the nicest facility there is, but the fans showed out
- 24:34Speaker 3: whether it was, and it sounded like there was a
- 24:38Speaker 3: majority Tampa Bay race fans, you know, usually the Yankees
- 24:42Speaker 3: and the Red Sox when they play down, there's a
- 24:43Speaker 3: lot of snowbirds down there, but, That place seemed like
- 24:47Speaker 3: it was rocking, especially in a 1-0 game.
- 24:49Speaker 1: They showed up. They showed up. You're exactly right.
- 24:52Speaker 3: You're exactly right. If you're Tampa and you're in New York,
- 24:55Speaker 3: it doesn't matter. If tomorrow, or I'm sorry, on the
- 24:58Speaker 3: off day, Cam Schlittler comes out and gives up five,
- 25:01Speaker 3: expect the Yankees to score five or six. These are
- 25:04Speaker 3: the way these games go. Yankees, Rays. It doesn't matter
- 25:08Speaker 3: what the starters do. It's going to be a one-run game.
- 25:11Speaker 3: So buckle up. I'm sure there's going to be four
- 25:14Speaker 3: more of them, hopefully, for baseball and It's a heavyweight shootout.
- 25:17Speaker 3: And like I said, the Yankees in that Boston series
- 25:20Speaker 3: didn't get punched, right? Right now they got jabbed. They
- 25:24Speaker 3: didn't really get not like haymakered yet.
- 25:26Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 25:27Speaker 3: They didn't have a lead and blow a lead and
- 25:29Speaker 3: feel bad about it. They just lost a good ball game.
- 25:31Speaker 1: There you go. And that's what I feel like saying
- 25:35Speaker 1: with San Diego. You know, they lost a good ball game.
- 25:38Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Don't get caught up in
- 25:40Speaker 1: the foul ball.
- 25:40Speaker 3: All three or all four games today. Just good baseball.
- 25:43Speaker 1: You lost.
- 25:44Speaker 3: On to the next.
- 25:45Speaker 1: But don't buy– my whole thing, don't buy into the narrative, like,
- 25:48Speaker 1: everybody's going to blast Austin Wells.
- 25:50Speaker 3: So what?
- 25:51Speaker 1: It was a close ball game, one base run. Everybody's
- 25:54Speaker 1: going to talk about the foul ball home or this
- 25:56Speaker 1: and that. Like, no, you lost a close ball game.
- 25:57Speaker 1: It's a really good team. Back at it tomorrow for
- 26:00Speaker 1: San Diego and a day off. And then get ready.
- 26:03Speaker 1: We got our– we got Camp Sittler on the mound.
- 26:05Speaker 1: We got our horse on the mound. And here we go. Yep.
- 26:08Speaker 3: Well, the good news, too, is Wells keeps hitting. Yeah,
- 26:11Speaker 3: that's right. He had a good wild card round, and
- 26:13Speaker 3: then he gets another hit, too.
- 26:15Speaker 1: Yep. And finish the season strong. That's right.
- 26:17Speaker 3: Exactly. I'm looking forward to tomorrow for the National League games.
- 26:21Speaker 3: We've got two of them. And then on to the
- 26:24Speaker 3: American League games.
- 26:25Speaker 1: Let's get some emails.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Yeah, let's get to our Tim Buss ball bag questions
- 26:30Speaker 3: of the show now. These daily questions. I love them, Rossi.
- 26:33Speaker 3: Last time we had someone from the UK. This time, Rossi,
- 26:37Speaker 3: we have someone from South Africa writing in.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Let's go.
- 26:42Speaker 3: Before we get to it, make sure you guys Subscribe,
- 26:45Speaker 3: like our channels, comment on our socials, comment on YouTube,
- 26:49Speaker 3: or email us at rossandrizzo at gmail.com. We are prestige worldwide.
- 26:59Speaker 3: This email is from Lawrence Brink. I'm writing all the
- 27:03Speaker 3: way from South Africa, bro. I became a fan of
- 27:07Speaker 3: baseball around 2020 and was drawn to the Chicago Cubs.
- 27:10Speaker 3: Several people have pointed out that the pitching has been
- 27:13Speaker 3: an issue for the Cubs. How do you think they
- 27:15Speaker 3: can resolve this issue? Are there any pitchers you would
- 27:17Speaker 3: like to see wearing a Cubs uniform? P.S. I wonder,
- 27:21Speaker 3: have you ever tried playing cricket before?
- 27:24Speaker 1: All right. So all I thought today, after I listened
- 27:28Speaker 1: to Jed Hoyer's press conference, was Tarek Skubal will be
- 27:32Speaker 1: a Chicago Cub. Ooh.
- 27:36Speaker 3: I love that. That's all I thought.
- 27:38Speaker 1: Tarek Skubal to the Chicago Cubs. I'm throwing it out there.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Cricket story. And I know you like Michael King. Somehow
- 27:46Speaker 1: you're getting Michael King to Chicago.
- 27:48Speaker 3: You already know Michael King. Michael King and Tarek Skrubel,
- 27:51Speaker 3: left and right punch. And then, and, and re-sign Clay Holmes.
- 27:56Speaker 3: There you go.
- 27:56Speaker 1: Nice.
- 27:57Speaker 3: I like that.
- 27:57Speaker 1: I like that.
- 27:58Speaker 3: All right.
- 27:59Speaker 1: My one cricket, I went over and played winter ball
- 28:01Speaker 1: in Australia. And all that's on TV, there's like a
- 28:05Speaker 1: ton of cricket. And so you watch, we watched a
- 28:08Speaker 1: lot of that. And we would go to, we, like
- 28:10Speaker 1: our team would go to the beach. And we were
- 28:13Speaker 1: in Brisbane. Brisbane. And we'd go to the beach and
- 28:17Speaker 1: set up like a baseball version of cricket. So we'd
- 28:19Speaker 1: like put a baseball field and then hit it into
- 28:21Speaker 1: the ocean. But we had to bounce it. We had
- 28:23Speaker 1: a little cricket battle. That's my cricket story.
- 28:25Speaker 3: How are you bouncing a ball on sand?
- 28:28Speaker 1: It was like a kid's set. So it's like a
- 28:31Speaker 1: little rubbery ball. Like on the hard part.
- 28:34Speaker 3: Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Sick.
- 28:37Speaker 3: That's awesome. It was fun. I went to a cricket
- 28:41Speaker 3: match actually... Lorenz, when I was in South Africa in
- 28:44Speaker 3: your beautiful country, down in Cape Town, my wife and
- 28:48Speaker 3: I were on our honeymoon and we stumbled upon a
- 28:50Speaker 3: cricket match. And we just went in and you had
- 28:53Speaker 3: to buy a ticket. It was like a smaller match
- 28:55Speaker 3: and just had some beers and watched. It was really cool.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Did you enjoy it?
- 28:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 28:59Speaker 1: I did.
- 29:00Speaker 3: And then this is a crazy story. So we had
- 29:04Speaker 3: at Yankee Stadium, I believe it was 2024. Yes, it was.
- 29:09Speaker 3: We had Caitlin Clark come before the game, pregame. And
- 29:13Speaker 3: I was showing her, her boyfriend and her agent around
- 29:18Speaker 3: Yankee Stadium. And I was just giving the VIP tour.
- 29:19Speaker 3: I was hurt at the time, so I was just
- 29:21Speaker 3: showing the batting cage and all of our training rooms
- 29:24Speaker 3: and everything, saying hello to everyone. All the coaches, right?
- 29:27Speaker 3: We met a lot of cool people. All the coaches
- 29:31Speaker 3: wanted pictures with her, signed autographs, yada, yada, yada. Well,
- 29:35Speaker 3: on the other end was the most famous cricket player,
- 29:39Speaker 3: I think, to ever live. live, who just won the,
- 29:42Speaker 3: I believe, the Cricket World Cup or whatever it was.
- 29:45Speaker 3: And if you have a chance, go on YouTube and
- 29:48Speaker 3: watch when India won their big championship. Bro, their parade,
- 29:55Speaker 3: shit on our parade.
- 29:57Speaker 1: Really?
- 29:57Speaker 3: It was fucking insane. So we have the most famous
- 30:01Speaker 3: cricket player of that team, like their superstar who no
- 30:04Speaker 3: one watches cricket in America.
- 30:05Speaker 1: Probably their bowler, right? Yeah, their best bowler.
- 30:08Speaker 3: Is that what they call it? I think so, yeah.
- 30:12Speaker 3: I was just like, man, dude, this guy back in
- 30:14Speaker 3: India is an absolute legend. And here it's like, oh, hey, man,
- 30:17Speaker 3: how you doing?
- 30:17Speaker 1: That's hilarious.
- 30:21Speaker 3: I love that.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Email from Tom Bronx. What do you gentlemen think of
- 30:26Speaker 1: Judge and O'Neal teaching Ben Rice to play right field
- 30:29Speaker 1: so that Judge can DH next season and stay healthy?
- 30:32Speaker 1: So I'm assuming that's Paul O'Neal. We'll get Paul O'Neal
- 30:36Speaker 1: out there to coach him up. Tom, what do I
- 30:41Speaker 1: think about that? I like your idea of bringing versatility.
- 30:46Speaker 1: I do like that.
- 30:47Speaker 3: That's the manager in you.
- 30:49Speaker 1: Yes, yes. Do... we'll probably can find a better outfielder
- 30:53Speaker 1: than Paul O'Neill or a coach. Paul O'Neill can definitely
- 30:56Speaker 1: give some advice and some, some pointers, but Paul is
- 30:59Speaker 1: probably a little bit, it's like me coming, going back
- 31:01Speaker 1: and giving catching lessons. Like that's not how nobody wants
- 31:03Speaker 1: to hear from me. I promise you, Tom. But I
- 31:07Speaker 1: like the idea of Ben Rice, you know, being able
- 31:09Speaker 1: to play a little bit of right field. I love
- 31:11Speaker 1: that idea. You know, it'd be nice to go in
- 31:14Speaker 1: the off season with some, with, with a plan to
- 31:16Speaker 1: move positions, but, Right now, I don't want to mess
- 31:19Speaker 1: with anybody or do anything. But going into next year,
- 31:21Speaker 1: I like your idea, Tom.
- 31:22Speaker 3: I like where your head's at, Tom. Yeah.
- 31:24Speaker 1: All right.
- 31:25Speaker 3: All right. Last one from Phillip Gibson. What was it
- 31:29Speaker 3: like being part of Domingo Armand's perfect game in 2023?
- 31:31Speaker 3: Did the pressure on defense increase as the final out
- 31:36Speaker 3: got closer? Well.
- 31:42Speaker 1: How many no-hitters have you been a part of, Riz?
- 31:45Speaker 3: How many no-hitters have I been a part of?
- 31:48Speaker 1: Four. Who am I missing?
- 31:51Speaker 3: Five, but really four. Arrieta twice.
- 31:57Speaker 1: Right.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Alec Mills.
- 32:02Speaker 1: Alec Mills, that's right. I missed that one.
- 32:04Speaker 3: Am I missing one? Did we have another one?
- 32:06Speaker 1: Domingo Hermann, you were there?
- 32:07Speaker 3: Domingo Hermann was perfect.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Oh, perfect.
- 32:10Speaker 3: And I got no hit by Cole Hamels. Yeah.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Me too.
- 32:16Speaker 3: Me too, actually. I played that game. I played that game.
- 32:20Speaker 3: It was really cool. Like, a perfect game, right? Yeah.
- 32:24Speaker 1: But the nerves are probably similar to the no-hitter. They're
- 32:26Speaker 1: probably similar.
- 32:27Speaker 3: The nerves didn't really kick in. Sometimes no-hitters kick in
- 32:30Speaker 3: in the fourth or fifth when you're out there. Oh, shit,
- 32:32Speaker 3: he's still a no-hitter, right? But it didn't creep in,
- 32:35Speaker 3: probably because we were in Oakland and playing out west,
- 32:38Speaker 3: I felt like I was always a zombie. But you
- 32:42Speaker 3: get to the sixth and seventh, you're like, oh, all right,
- 32:45Speaker 3: let's do this. And you just, Being part of history,
- 32:48Speaker 3: it's the last perfect game that there was. Who knows
