Latest / Flyer Magazine / Tecnam takes aim at Cirrus and Diamond - The FLYER Show - 30th July 2026
Transcript
- 0:04SPEAKER_03: This is the Flyer Show in podcast form, and in fact, it's our last one before we take our August break.
- 0:09SPEAKER_03: We'll be back with you just before the LA rally on the 3rd of September.
- 0:13SPEAKER_03: So, if you're weak, this is your last weekly dose of general aviation, news, views, and flying chat.
- 0:18SPEAKER_03: In this episode, we'll bring you up to date with the news, plus there'll be some other stuff that we haven't quite figured out what it's going to be yet.
- 0:23SPEAKER_03: It's a if you like aeroplanes, airfields, airspace, and the stuff that surrounds them, you're in the right place.
- 0:28SPEAKER_03: I apologize for the appalling quality of this intro.
- 0:31SPEAKER_03: It's where we need a holiday.
- 0:33SPEAKER_03: Welcome to this week's Flyer Show from Wadswick, where it's the Scorchio here as it was in Oshkosh last week.
- 0:38SPEAKER_03: My name's Ian Steeger.
- 0:39SPEAKER_03: I'm Ed Hicks.
- 0:40SPEAKER_05: And I'm Dave Corderwood.
- 0:41SPEAKER_03: Thank you very much to Sky Demon for supporting this, and here is this week's top tip.
- 0:50SPEAKER_01: Hi, I'm Rob from Sky Demon, and here's another top tip.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: Sky Demon includes a few tools to help with your vertical planning.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: It will always calculate the minimum safe altitude for each leg of a planned flight, and these are shown in the pilot's log.
- 1:05SPEAKER_01: If any of your legs breach the MSA, they are highlighted in red here and in the virtual radar too.
- 1:14SPEAKER_01: You can manually adjust the planned level by simply dragging it up with your finger, but you can also find a warning in the warnings tab, and touching the spanner here will change the planned altitude to the MSA.
- 1:31SPEAKER_01: One way to be even more proactive about safe altitudes is to turn on grid maximum elevations.
- 1:38SPEAKER_01: These are found within the mapping menu under terrain and surface features.
- 1:45SPEAKER_01: These numbers are shown in the bottom right hand corner of each grid square of the map and show the maximum elevation of either terrain or obstacle within that grid square.
- 1:56SPEAKER_01: Also in this menu, we can switch on colour high terrain.
- 2:01SPEAKER_01: This asks for a reference altitude, and you should enter here the level at which you think you might fly.
- 2:08SPEAKER_01: SkyTeam will then colour the map according to the key you see here so that you can clearly see the regions which are flyable at that level and those that are not.
- 2:18SPEAKER_01: As you can probably imagine, this feature is very valuable when planning in mountainous regions to identify the flyable valleys at a glance.
- 2:28SPEAKER_01: For more information, check out our website www.skydemon.era.
- 2:38SPEAKER_03: So there you go.
- 2:38SPEAKER_03: If you don't always want to fly everywhere at 500 feet and sometimes you want to climb higher to go faster and stuff like this, there's some tips in there about how to plan.
- 2:45SPEAKER_04: That expands my mind because I'm a typically British PPL.
- 2:48SPEAKER_04: I go straight to 2000 feet.
- 2:49SPEAKER_03: 2000 feet and stay there.
- 2:51SPEAKER_03: It's mine! I've got this my altitude.
- 2:54SPEAKER_03: That's why I fly at 2100 feet.
- 2:59SPEAKER_03: It's true actually.
- 3:00SPEAKER_03: I reckon 80% of UK traffic must be at 2000 feet.
- 3:03SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 3:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 3:04SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 3:05SPEAKER_04: So uh thinking about the weather, I wonder, are we going to be basking in more permanent sunshine and warm warm stuff?
- 3:13SPEAKER_04: Let's see what Simon has to say.
- 3:15SPEAKER_02: Hi everyone, Simon Keeling here with your Flying Weather Outlook for the week and weekend ahead, brought to you exclusively by Flyer in Association with Weather School.
- 3:24SPEAKER_02: And uh thanks again for watching.
- 3:26SPEAKER_02: Now, before we go on, just to let you know that my next aviation weather school part one course is filling up pretty quickly.
- 3:33SPEAKER_02: This is a live online course presented by me over the consecutive Tuesday evenings of the 15th and 22nd of September from 6:30 pm till 9 pm.
- 3:42SPEAKER_02: Regardless of your experience, whether you're pre-PPL, whether you're a commercial pilot, you'll learn lots from this course.
- 3:49SPEAKER_02: You get a recording of each session as well to watch for uh a couple of weeks after the course so you can just review what you've seen and perhaps go over anything that you didn't get the first time.
- 3:58SPEAKER_02: Uh again, I'll show you how you can forecast weather windows five days in advance, how you can build your weather confidence, and I will get you flying more, and I will get you flying more safely as well.
- 4:10SPEAKER_02: For more details, go to weatherschool at the code.uk for Friday, another fair day, but not as hot, thank goodness on Friday.
- 4:18SPEAKER_02: But still, we are going to be in very far conditions for much of eastern Scotland, most of England, Wales, and Eastern Ireland.
- 4:24SPEAKER_02: Basies three to five thousand feet, tops at about 10,000 feet.
- 4:28SPEAKER_02: Cloudier western Scotland, northern and western parts of Ireland, drizzle here, less than a thousand foot bases, tops at 10,000 feet.
- 4:37SPEAKER_02: And then on to Saturday, and again, high pressure is in control.
- 4:41SPEAKER_02: So another fair day, but bases 4,000 feet, tops at 8 to 10,000 feet for most.
- 4:47SPEAKER_02: Perhaps one or two showers affecting western parts of Scotland.
- 4:50SPEAKER_02: Here we are going to be seeing bases of two to three thousand feet and the tops at 12,000 feet, and just going marginal at times as those showers move in.
- 4:58SPEAKER_02: But for many, it looks as if it will be another fair day.
- 5:03SPEAKER_02: And then for Sunday, some low cloud drifting its way north through Ireland and into western Scotland on Sunday as those affronts move northwards.
- 5:11SPEAKER_02: But for most of us, it is going to be a fair day.
- 5:15SPEAKER_02: Base is around three to five thousand feet, tops are about eight to six to ten thousand feet.
- 5:20SPEAKER_02: Just watch out for the risk of some low cloud and some perhaps a coastal fog around western parts, southern parts of Wales, around the coast of southwest England as well.
- 5:30SPEAKER_02: All in all then, not a bad week, but one that's going to get hot for many of us again.
- 5:35SPEAKER_02: I will leave you with that for now.
- 5:36SPEAKER_02: Don't forget to get to weatherschool.co.uk.
- 5:38SPEAKER_02: Get yourself booked onto Aviation Weather School Part One starting uh on the 15th and 22nd of September.
- 5:45SPEAKER_02: Uh, you can use the QR code there to book your place now as well.
- 5:50SPEAKER_02: Okay, have a great, have a safe flying week.
- 5:52SPEAKER_02: Thanks again for watching.
- 5:53SPEAKER_02: Keep the sun shining and bye for now.
- 5:55SPEAKER_03: Okay, on to the news.
- 5:56SPEAKER_03: Well, um sadly, we have to kick off the news with some some really sad news, in fact.
- 6:01SPEAKER_03: Uh, two people in the aviation community have passed away, not in an accident, but independently.
- 6:07SPEAKER_03: The first one being Jeff Whale.
- 6:08SPEAKER_03: Jeff was the former BMAA uh CEO.
- 6:11SPEAKER_03: Before that, he'd been uh head of the instructor commit uh examiner committee, in fact.
- 6:16SPEAKER_03: Instructor committee, he'd done a whole lot of instructing as well.
- 6:18SPEAKER_03: And I worked with Jeff quite a lot uh when we did the the BMAA show and the flyer show up at Telford and stuff like that.
- 6:25SPEAKER_03: He was an absolutely top, top, top person.
- 6:27SPEAKER_03: Anyone who flies the micro light uh now and in the future has Jeff to thank for an awful lot of the stuff that he did.
- 6:33SPEAKER_03: He was one of those people.
- 6:34SPEAKER_03: He had a great dry sense of humour, um, just had a had a very nice, even look on life and and just worked his worked his socks off for microlighting.
- 6:46SPEAKER_03: Top top chap.
- 6:47SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 6:48SPEAKER_04: That's uh that's a big loss.
- 6:50SPEAKER_03: It is a big loss.
- 6:51SPEAKER_03: And and an equally big loss is Dave Roberts.
- 6:53SPEAKER_03: Dave Roberts um was on the board of Europe Airsports, and at one point he was president of Europe AirSports.
- 6:59SPEAKER_03: He's uh he was honorary president until recently.
- 7:02SPEAKER_03: Um his background is an accountant, he was FDA at the Met Office at one point, um, and he's done quite a lot of jobs.
- 7:08SPEAKER_03: Uh he was one of these people who just sat down and worked his way through problems.
- 7:13SPEAKER_03: And you know, when we were all out flying, he was in meetings on the phone, sending emails, and he didn't do it, he he didn't stand up and rant, he just sat there, calmly gathered the facts, put them put the facts to the people and persuaded them.
- 7:26SPEAKER_03: It was absolute turn force, really, really top chap.
- 7:29SPEAKER_03: Um, so an awful lot of us have got a lot to thank him for as well.
- 7:32SPEAKER_03: So that's two big names in the world of aviation that that have left us in the last few days.
- 7:37SPEAKER_05: Dave Roberts was instrumental in getting ERSA to uh have a GA roadmap as well.
- 7:41SPEAKER_05: Absolutely, yeah.
- 7:42SPEAKER_03: Absolutely, yeah.
- 7:43SPEAKER_03: He he did an awful lot of stuff and he was hugely I I've spoken to quite a lot of people at EARSA as well, he's hugely respected by them uh as someone who could you know get stuff done and collate everything and just bring it bring it together.
- 7:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 7:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 7:56SPEAKER_03: Well, very sad.
- 7:57SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 7:58SPEAKER_05: Brighter news.
- 8:00SPEAKER_05: If you've got a lot of money, a very large fortune, and you're looking to downsize it, then we have the perfect project.
- 8:07SPEAKER_05: It's the Horton Flying Wing project.
- 8:10SPEAKER_05: Um they've Horton Aircraft to put the entire flying wing program up for sale because surprisingly they failed to get the investment needed to get it into production.
- 8:20SPEAKER_05: Uh everything's for sale, including the uh HSX2 demonstrator, uh, which is already flying, been flying since 2028, 2019.
- 8:28SPEAKER_05: There's all the engineering data, the tooling, the intellectual property, and the business plans.
- 8:33SPEAKER_05: I wouldn't place too much faith in those business plans since they haven't got anywhere so far.
- 8:37SPEAKER_04: No, but the airplane, the aeroplane itself, we saw that that's been an aero in the past, hasn't it?
- 8:42SPEAKER_05: It actually looks a really interesting, but it does, it is based on something in history that the old Horton aircraft.
- 8:47SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah, it's based on the the Horton Fly Horton gliders, yeah.
- 8:50SPEAKER_04: Um which were incredibly efficient and and Horton themselves and still I the the demonstrator is Rotex powered and they they claim high cruise speeds and ultra high efficiency, and it's the future.
- 9:03SPEAKER_03: It's very hard to get away from the fairly standard configuration of aircraft, isn't it?
- 9:08SPEAKER_03: No one's you know you'd think if someone suddenly came across something that was amazing, yeah, everything net made these days would be in the amazing configuration.
- 9:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 9:18SPEAKER_04: But really, uh your choices are high wing or low wing, really.
- 9:22SPEAKER_04: All the other bits to the same thing.
- 9:24SPEAKER_04: You can have a T TAL or a pretty yeah aeroplanes tend to be one format for a reason.
- 9:33SPEAKER_04: They do, indeed.
- 9:34SPEAKER_03: Indeed.
- 9:36SPEAKER_03: Um I think Ed, you've got news.
- 9:39SPEAKER_04: I have.
- 9:40SPEAKER_04: Um so uh obviously uh the CA announced that they're having their mandatory uh EC consultation.
- 9:46SPEAKER_04: So there is going to be a webinar.
- 9:48SPEAKER_04: If so, if you uh have views that you want to make known on this, then Ah no, they do no no that webinar, they make it very clear.
- 9:55SPEAKER_05: They don't want to hear your views.
- 9:57SPEAKER_05: They just want to they just want to tell us the way they're doing it.
- 10:01SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, no, but I was it's all about the fact that um obviously if you have views, obviously don't go to the webinar to express them, put them in the consultation, but go to the webinar to listen to what the CAA have to say.
- 10:11SPEAKER_03: That's right, yeah.
- 10:12SPEAKER_03: So um there will be a QA, I believe.
- 10:15SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 10:15SPEAKER_03: Um because there's a lot of there's a lot of unanswered questions in the consultation, as it is.
- 10:20SPEAKER_03: So this will be, I think, a good chance for you to go.
- 10:23SPEAKER_04: Um excuse me.
- 10:24SPEAKER_04: Are you meant to ask questions?
- 10:26SPEAKER_03: Oh, there is a QA thing.
- 10:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there's a presentation with a QA.
- 10:30SPEAKER_03: Although I'm I'm no, I'm not gonna I I'm not gonna say that would be too cynical when it's summer real happy.
- 10:37SPEAKER_05: Well, it's good at having a webinar about the people.
- 10:40SPEAKER_05: Because they probably do have got a bit of explaining to do.
- 10:43SPEAKER_05: Yeah, they've got quite a lot of explaining to do, to be honest.
- 10:45SPEAKER_03: I mean, you know, one of the things that they talk about is you can use things like the some of the CAP 1391.
- 10:51SPEAKER_03: So effectively Sky Echo is what they're really talking about.
- 10:53SPEAKER_03: They just haven't named it.
- 10:54SPEAKER_03: But it kind of says, you know, in a s with a suitable installation, but it gives no information as to what's a suitable installation installation, how they're going to test it, or anything like that.
- 11:02SPEAKER_03: So it's like, hello, chocolate teapot time.
- 11:05SPEAKER_04: Um but anyway, this webinar, if you're interested, and really it this is one of the biggest uh things that is going to happen to general aviation um now or in the future, really.
- 11:17SPEAKER_04: Um so you owe it to yourself to be there and be educated and respond.
- 11:21SPEAKER_04: And that's on Tuesday, the 11th of August, and it's from uh from six o'clock to seven o'clock.
- 11:27SPEAKER_03: Absolutely, absolutely.
- 11:29SPEAKER_03: Now, you probably expected a whole load of Oshgrosh stuff, and we've got a little bit of a roundup at the end of stuff that didn't make it into some of our videos, so we'll come on to that plane.
- 11:39SPEAKER_03: So we'll come onto that shortly, but before we do that, I would just like to say a big thank you to Cirrus Aircraft, Continental Aerospace Technology, and Hartzall Propeller for supporting our coverage.
- 11:51SPEAKER_03: We really couldn't have done it without them.
- 11:52SPEAKER_03: So thank you, all of those.
- 11:54SPEAKER_03: Dave.
- 11:54SPEAKER_05: Yep, I was I was going to say club news, but this first item is not just for club members, it's for anybody who has to come and meet us at a fly-in.
- 12:02SPEAKER_05: We're having flyer is having its own fly-in at the Aces High Gallery, a place called Steventon, near Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
- 12:09SPEAKER_04: And and this is a fantastic strip.
- 12:11SPEAKER_04: It's over a thousand metres long, really superb grass.
- 12:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:15SPEAKER_03: I'm going in in the VC tunnels.
- 12:17SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 12:17SPEAKER_04: And the gallery itself is a fabulous, fabulous building.
- 12:21SPEAKER_04: Uh it's got a couple of aeroplanes in it, it's got a whole bunch of aviation art, and uh it sounds like they're going to be incredible hosts.
- 12:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 12:27SPEAKER_03: Yes, looking forward to that.
- 12:28SPEAKER_04: So I know a few people have asked and said, why are you having a fly-in on a weekday?
- 12:33SPEAKER_04: And it's because all uh weekends were booked up.
- 12:36SPEAKER_03: So and and frankly, over the summer, all of our weekends are booked up as well.
- 12:41SPEAKER_03: So it's just the way it happens to be.
- 12:44SPEAKER_05: I should add it's on the 11th of August, didn't say that before.
- 12:46SPEAKER_05: And it's essential that you get PPR and a briefing.
- 12:49SPEAKER_05: And guess who's giving you the briefing?
- 12:51SPEAKER_05: It's Annabelle.
- 12:52SPEAKER_03: Annabelle.
- 12:53SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 12:53SPEAKER_03: There you go.
- 12:54SPEAKER_03: Um there is an extra bonus, or maybe it's not a bonus at all, maybe it's like a a penance you have to pay or something.
- 13:01SPEAKER_03: But there will be a little live version of what caught my eye and a little bit of a fantasy hanger.
- 13:10SPEAKER_03: You can listen to us talk rubbish in to a live audience.
- 13:14SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 13:14SPEAKER_04: It's not probably not going to be for broadcast.
- 13:16SPEAKER_03: No, it won't be for broadcast.
- 13:18SPEAKER_03: It's more like an experiment, really.
- 13:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 13:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 13:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 13:21SPEAKER_05: So if you want to, if you fancy going, uh coming, uh go to the store and it's on flyer, uh and you can get the full details there, including how to PPR, and get your briefing.
- 13:30SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 13:31SPEAKER_05: Oh.
- 13:31SPEAKER_05: But there is some club news.
- 13:32SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 13:33SPEAKER_05: August landing fees.
- 13:34SPEAKER_03: Where are they, mate?
- 13:36SPEAKER_03: Where are they?
- 13:36SPEAKER_03: We need a we need some kind of like drumroll, don't we?
- 13:40SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 13:40SPEAKER_05: Well, first one is that Fishburn.
- 13:42SPEAKER_05: I've always thought Fishburn was a really strange name.
- 13:45SPEAKER_04: No one likes burned fish.
- 13:46SPEAKER_05: No, that's right.
- 13:47SPEAKER_05: Fishburn.
- 13:48SPEAKER_05: I like raw fish.
- 13:49SPEAKER_05: Raw fish?
- 13:50SPEAKER_05: No, I must I much prefer my cooks.
- 13:52SPEAKER_05: Fishburn, Bagby, Beverly, and Blackbush.
- 13:55SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 13:55SPEAKER_04: If only we'd had four airfields beginning with B.
- 13:58SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 14:00SPEAKER_03: Did you know Beverly at one point, it may still be, I don't know, I'm not in that industry at all now, but I was in the publishing industry around it before.
- 14:07SPEAKER_03: Beverly was one of the big homes of UK caravan manufacture.
- 14:11SPEAKER_04: I did not know that.
- 14:12SPEAKER_03: Not the strip itself, but the the town, yeah.
- 14:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 14:15SPEAKER_03: Lots of UK caravans were built around Beverly, and some others in Bristol as well.
- 14:19SPEAKER_03: Once upon a time I worked on a magazine called I can't even remember what it was called, Caravan something or other.
- 14:24SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 14:25SPEAKER_03: But there you go.
- 14:26SPEAKER_03: Hunny fact, everybody.
- 14:28SPEAKER_03: A new fun fun fact.
- 14:30SPEAKER_03: Every day's a school day.
- 14:33SPEAKER_04: Talking of fun facts, should we go to uh a bunch of the Oshkosh news that you won't have seen in our best of Oshkosh video?
- 14:40SPEAKER_04: Which obviously, if you haven't watched, do watch it.
- 14:43SPEAKER_04: We'll put a link in the description.
- 14:45SPEAKER_04: Um but there's a whole bunch of stories that came out during Oshkosh that uh deserve a little bit of chat.
- 14:50SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 14:51SPEAKER_03: Some things that we want to chat about that we, you know, didn't really have a place in the video.
- 14:55SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 14:55SPEAKER_05: So Right.
- 14:57SPEAKER_05: Shall I kick off?
- 14:58SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 14:59SPEAKER_05: So Icon, the uh uh maker of the A5 amphibious sport aircraft, is going to return to production next year.
- 15:06SPEAKER_05: And they've got to equip the uh new aircraft with something called a safety system called icon sense.
- 15:12SPEAKER_05: Uh not safety sense.
- 15:14SPEAKER_05: Icon Sense.
- 15:15SPEAKER_05: Icon Sense.
- 15:16SPEAKER_04: Icon Sense, like is that is that an odor of like as in sense, as in a very lovely odor or well it's it's just designed to prevent that odor which can't happens when you realize you screwed up.
- 15:25SPEAKER_05: Things are bad.
- 15:26SPEAKER_05: When things are bad.
- 15:27SPEAKER_05: Apparently, one of the biggest reasons for accidents with amphibious aircraft is landing with the wrong undercarriage down.
- 15:33SPEAKER_05: Yep, yep.
- 15:33SPEAKER_05: In other words, landing on land with floats down, and landing on water with the wheels down.
- 15:38SPEAKER_05: That's you know, if you do it the wrong way around.
- 15:41SPEAKER_03: Wheels up, you mean on land?
- 15:43SPEAKER_05: Yes, wheels up on land, yes.
- 15:44SPEAKER_05: Yep, yep.
- 15:45SPEAKER_04: I can I'm beginning to see why they created i uh icon sense.
- 15:48SPEAKER_05: I guess I I probably will need it.
- 15:50SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 15:50SPEAKER_05: Icon Sense uses predictive software to determine whether the pilot intends to land on land or water, um, and warns them if the landing gear is incorrectly configured.
- 16:00SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 16:01SPEAKER_03: So you think is the name come from a pilot going, I can sense I've done something wrong here?
- 16:07SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 16:07SPEAKER_05: The technology will be fitted to all new, newly built aircraft, but also available as a retro for it for the existing A5 fleet.
- 16:14SPEAKER_05: If you remember, Icon entered chapter chapter 11 bankruptcy back in 2024.
- 16:19SPEAKER_05: Then it was sold to a Chinese maker, the Shangong Group, which also owns flight design.
- 16:24SPEAKER_05: Absolutely.
- 16:25SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 16:25SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 16:25SPEAKER_04: It's one of the the the the icon thing, and they've been at Oshkosh forever.
- 16:30SPEAKER_04: Their budget their budget is.
- 16:31SPEAKER_03: They must have spent a fortune at Oshkosha.
- 16:33SPEAKER_04: And and that that's the money spent has grudged gradually shrunk, hasn't it?
- 16:37SPEAKER_04: But um I obviously I clearly the A5 uh is FAA certified.
- 16:43SPEAKER_04: That's universally, you know, that universally helps sell that aeroplane around the world.
- 16:48SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 16:48SPEAKER_04: Maybe one day it will get the traction it needs.
- 16:52SPEAKER_03: Maybe it will.
- 16:52SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 16:53SPEAKER_03: And maybe it won't.
- 16:54SPEAKER_03: But who knows?
- 16:55SPEAKER_03: So I was talking talking of I talking of the people who now own flight design as well.
- 16:58SPEAKER_03: There was a flight design on the stand as well, and they were showing their their future version, which is going to have a RoTax 916 in it.
- 17:04SPEAKER_04: Was that the was that the F F four, the F6?
- 17:08SPEAKER_04: F2160, wasn't it?
- 17:09SPEAKER_05: F2 M160.
- 17:11SPEAKER_05: Ah, okay, right.
- 17:12SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:12SPEAKER_03: Which they're claiming its speed is going to touch 170 knots, so it's good to see.
- 17:16SPEAKER_03: But in all of that it's good to see that in all that all that sort of transfer of ownership and stuff like that, flight designs optimistic cruise predictions.
- 17:28SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 17:28SPEAKER_05: I was getting ready to bleep there.
- 17:30SPEAKER_03: Still survived.
- 17:32SPEAKER_03: If that does, anywhere, if I mean, what do you reckon?
- 17:35SPEAKER_03: Brushing.
- 17:35SPEAKER_03: If it does more than a hundred well, it's gonna do it's not gonna get to 160 knots, let alone 170.
- 17:41SPEAKER_04: I'll be generous and say 130.
- 17:43SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I was gonna say 135 is my prediction.
- 17:46SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:46SPEAKER_03: Maybe.
- 17:48SPEAKER_03: But there you go.
- 17:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 17:49SPEAKER_03: So life.
- 17:52SPEAKER_03: My phone keeps turning itself off because I forgot my forgotten.
- 17:55SPEAKER_03: I forgot my iPad.
- 17:56SPEAKER_04: Ah, well, but I can tell you that uh that the next item is all about the TechNam Rivale.
- 18:01SPEAKER_03: Rivale.
- 18:02SPEAKER_04: Which was revealed in probably the the grandest reveal of Oshkosh.
- 18:07SPEAKER_04: Um TechNam brought a um uh brought a sculpture of the name Rivale, which was something like 16,000 pounds of polished aluminium or polished stainless steel, but on the front of it was the nose, a mock-up of the nose of their range, what's gonna be their range top operating plane.
- 18:25SPEAKER_04: Uh and uh basically this is TechNam's luxurious aeroplane, uh, and they're clearly going after the Cirrus market um for sure.
- 18:34SPEAKER_04: This is gonna be powered by the Continental uh CD uh CD300 V6 engine, so diesel, 300 horsepower with Fadek.
- 18:43SPEAKER_04: Um it's gonna have Garmin G2000 Prime, uh, which are both the two big two big hits on the kind of spec level.
- 18:51SPEAKER_04: And it's gonna sit, it's gonna be range topping it so it'll be above the P2010.
- 18:55SPEAKER_04: And the nose, the bit we saw, you go, that's a looker.
- 18:58SPEAKER_03: That looks good.
- 18:59SPEAKER_03: It's it looks unless they change it radically, it's gonna have a high wing.
- 19:03SPEAKER_03: Oh, yeah, you could clearly see it.
- 19:05SPEAKER_03: There was some odd stuff, like the like the bonnet style cowling.
- 19:09SPEAKER_03: The bonnet kind of tips up like this.
- 19:11SPEAKER_03: You kind of pull something through the door and you go.
- 19:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah, so you can kind of stare in it then.
- 19:17SPEAKER_04: You know, it's do you think maybe in the TechNam design meeting they go, what do aeroplane owners uh what can't they do at the moment?
- 19:24SPEAKER_04: They can't come to a fly-in and go, open the bonnet and go look at that beauty.
- 19:29SPEAKER_03: That's probably because everyone does.
- 19:30SPEAKER_03: That's what people do at car meets, isn't it?
- 19:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 19:33SPEAKER_03: Not that I've ever been to a car meeting.
- 19:34SPEAKER_03: Pop the hood, yeah.
- 19:35SPEAKER_03: Pop the hood.
- 19:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 19:36SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 19:36SPEAKER_05: Now I didn't I didn't go to Washkus, so I did I've only seen the pictures.
- 19:40SPEAKER_05: How do you know it's going to be arriving?
- 19:41SPEAKER_05: What gives it a little bit of a.
- 19:42SPEAKER_04: Because you can see you can see the shape of it.
- 19:44SPEAKER_04: There's a couple of bits of wing root at the top of the windscreen, so you know it's going to and obviously famously a couple of weeks uh a couple of weeks ago um we knew reva we knew something from Technon was coming, and we you guessed it might be uh like a a low-wing P20 tenner like thing, and AI guessed at it for us.
- 20:04SPEAKER_04: It wasn't low wing.
- 20:05SPEAKER_04: It wasn't low wing.
- 20:06SPEAKER_04: Um but uh I have fed the biplane.
- 20:09SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yes, that's true.
- 20:10SPEAKER_04: Um I have fed the nose of the Rivale into AI and asked AI to complete the rest of the aeroplane, and this is what it turned out.
- 20:19SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 20:20SPEAKER_04: Um I if I had to guess, I'd say that's probably somewhere about right.
- 20:24SPEAKER_04: Who knows?
- 20:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 20:25SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I guess the only thing that what I would I would wonder about that is whether whether they're gonna go retract gear.
- 20:32SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 20:33SPEAKER_03: Um I'd be surprised.
- 20:34SPEAKER_03: I'd be fairly surprised.
- 20:35SPEAKER_04: But then if you're if you're range topping and luxurious and then people like uh like some swinging gear, don't they?
- 20:42SPEAKER_03: Well it's clearly there to revalae the Cirrus, isn't it?
- 20:45SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 20:46SPEAKER_03: Um and so they're gonna have to they're gonna have to hit the Cirrus performance specs.
- 20:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 20:50SPEAKER_03: So they've got 300 horsepower to play with.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: Which is a good start.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: Which is a good start.
- 20:54SPEAKER_05: But they've also got because it's a diesel, it can sell more easily around the world than the uh F-gas burning Cirrus.
- 21:00SPEAKER_05: Absolutely.
- 21:01SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 21:02SPEAKER_04: But um but basically that's all we know is what it what it looks like.
- 21:05SPEAKER_04: There's no no hint of performance numbers, anything like that.
- 21:09SPEAKER_04: So no range, no price, no speed.
- 21:12SPEAKER_05: They did say they're going to uh unveil the whole aircraft at Aero Aero.
- 21:16SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 21:16SPEAKER_04: So Aero 2027, watch out for the TechNam revive.
- 21:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and if you're visiting the TechNam factory between now and then and you get a chance to poke around the back of some of the hangers to have a look.
- 21:26SPEAKER_04: Please don't send us a picture.
- 21:28SPEAKER_03: Send us a picture, but don't use that as a commission.
- 21:31SPEAKER_04: No, don't say flyers.
- 21:32SPEAKER_04: Don't say flyers and me.
- 21:34SPEAKER_03: No, absolutely.
- 21:35SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 21:37SPEAKER_05: So Grand Teton.
- 21:38SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 21:39SPEAKER_05: Grand Teton is uh the highest peak in the national in the Grand Teton National National Park.
- 21:44SPEAKER_05: But Rashon have named their latest version of the Ranger, uh sort of um a bush country aircraft.
- 21:52SPEAKER_04: LSA Trainer, isn't it?
- 21:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 21:55SPEAKER_05: LSA Trainer.
- 21:56SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 21:56SPEAKER_05: Rashon Ranger.
- 21:57SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 21:58SPEAKER_05: Well the Grand Teton is meant to Be the version that goes off off off pieced if you like.
- 22:03SPEAKER_04: So it's a fashion range with big tires.
- 22:04SPEAKER_05: It's big tires, yeah.
- 22:05SPEAKER_05: It's got a uh it's got oversized bearings of wheels and tyres.
- 22:09SPEAKER_05: Um and it's got a 550 pound payload, but it's with full fuel.
- 22:13SPEAKER_05: Right.
- 22:13SPEAKER_05: Um it's designed for going uh grass, grass, gravel, and other unimproved strips.
- 22:18SPEAKER_05: So in the UK then.
- 22:20SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 22:21SPEAKER_03: Talking of which, I know this is gonna go a little bit off-piste here, yeah.
- 22:25SPEAKER_03: But a new story that we didn't have in the news that I think might be worth mentioning, is that if anyone's got any other details, oops, the there's a stall competition coming up at Popham.
- 22:35SPEAKER_03: There is just saw it recently.
- 22:38SPEAKER_03: So check out Popham's got a stall competition in September sometime.
- 22:42SPEAKER_05: September, yeah.
- 22:43SPEAKER_05: Yes, yeah.
- 22:44SPEAKER_03: Which is kind of following on from the one that they almost had, sort of had at Brayton in Breeton, Brayton.
- 22:50SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 22:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 22:51SPEAKER_04: Stall, this is being run by Sorry, back on track, back on track.
- 22:53SPEAKER_03: Back on track.
- 22:54SPEAKER_03: Has it still got the uh Continental engine in it, the O two hundred?
- 22:57SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it's still got the same same engine.
- 22:59SPEAKER_05: It's got um apparently the folding seats can convert into a bedroom long enough for a six foot four person.
- 23:05SPEAKER_04: You can sleep in the Vashon Ranger.
- 23:07SPEAKER_05: Yes.
- 23:07SPEAKER_04: But I'm not ever convinced that sleeping in an aeroplane I it's like an absolute last resort, isn't it?
- 23:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 23:13SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 23:14SPEAKER_03: I mean, you should only sleep in airplanes that have got life beds and someone to come and make you bed.
- 23:19SPEAKER_03: At that point, it's worth it.
- 23:20SPEAKER_03: Probably.
- 23:21SPEAKER_05: That's called a hotel, I think.
- 23:23SPEAKER_05: Anyway, the price is quite reasonable for a new airplane.
- 23:25SPEAKER_05: $241,000.
- 23:28SPEAKER_04: Well, that seems I I I know I I'm sure someone out someone out there will be going, ah, that's unaffordable, but that that just appears to be the price of things now.
- 23:37SPEAKER_04: It is.
- 23:37SPEAKER_03: I mean, things things are expensive now.
- 23:39SPEAKER_03: I remember it's a while ago, and I can't even remember where we did it.
- 23:41SPEAKER_03: We flip went and flew the Lashon Ranger, but not the Grand Teton version.
- 23:45SPEAKER_04: Yeah, and you were really impressed.
- 23:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 23:48SPEAKER_03: I just wish they'd have gone put a RoTax engine.
- 23:50SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 23:51SPEAKER_04: And I I think it's fair to say that Ken Kruger, the original designer, thought that, you know, it would probably be at its best.
- 23:57SPEAKER_04: Certainly have the more have more payload, wouldn't it, with a RoTAX.
- 24:01SPEAKER_03: John Terraud, who's the guy behind it, odds me, he's born in the UK.
- 24:05SPEAKER_03: But it's gone with the all-American engine.
- 24:08SPEAKER_04: All American, yeah.
- 24:09SPEAKER_04: I also heard recently that um the Vashon Range is gonna be getting a new engine.
- 24:13SPEAKER_04: Right.
- 24:14SPEAKER_03: So um is it a Rotax?
- 24:16SPEAKER_04: No.
- 24:16SPEAKER_04: Um but uh uh an American developed engine.
- 24:19SPEAKER_04: That was also um also talked about.
- 24:21SPEAKER_04: Um so I I heard about that.
- 24:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:24SPEAKER_05: Haven't got any more details, so I'm they are certainly very keen on being being on all American, yeah.
- 24:29SPEAKER_03: They are indeed.
- 24:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 24:31SPEAKER_04: Uh talking of all American, well nearly all American, uh, Vans with the R V12 IS, uh, they were hot on the heels of uh the mosaic regulations clicking into place.
- 24:44SPEAKER_04: Uh so on Friday at Oshkosh, uh Mosaic, which had been announced the year before, became live.
- 24:49SPEAKER_04: And Vans were the first people to deliver a um a mosaic conforming aeroplane to a customer at the show.
- 24:56SPEAKER_04: So um the R V12IS, uh, this one painted up neatly like a Piper Cub.
- 25:01SPEAKER_04: Because I I guess Vans are well, I think the guy who um who ordered it, it's like, well, this is gonna be the trainer of the future, so why not paint it like a piper cub?
- 25:10SPEAKER_04: Yellow with a lightning bolt.
- 25:12SPEAKER_04: Uh but this is a um this is certified under FAA Mosaic Part 22, and it's basic it's it's approved for IFR training.
- 25:20SPEAKER_04: Uh and the RB12 IS mosaic version,$246,000 also, like the Machon.
- 25:26SPEAKER_03: That's not bad.
- 25:27SPEAKER_03: That's not bad.
- 25:27SPEAKER_03: I think you know, mosaic, some of which applies to airframes, some of which applies to pilots, yeah, is not over here yet.
- 25:34SPEAKER_03: No.
- 25:35SPEAKER_03: Um I do believe that EASA are looking at it, and if EASA look at it, and I think the CA have glanced at it as well, yeah, it would be significantly better for everyone, I think, were it to come over here.
- 25:46SPEAKER_03: But I can imagine some people not being that happy about it, particularly someone who's just spent uh many years and a lot of money in getting themselves approved for a different set of regulations.
- 25:56SPEAKER_00: Yeah, yeah.
- 25:56SPEAKER_03: So I can see that the issue that we have, but the world is moving on, and it seems that mosaic there was a lot of positive upbeat stuff.
- 26:03SPEAKER_03: We should make a video about mosaic, about what it is and stuff like that.
- 26:05SPEAKER_04: Definitely, because I it has I it everyone, it seemed like everyone had a mosaic product of some sort.
- 26:12SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 26:13SPEAKER_04: Um it was it's a big deal over there.
- 26:16SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 26:17SPEAKER_05: Well the key point is this 59 knot uh stall speed, isn't it?
- 26:20SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 26:21SPEAKER_05: Because you know, if as long as the gear craft meets that 59 knot clean clean, clean stall speed, yeah, then uh it's on it's en route for to be compliant.
- 26:31SPEAKER_03: Keeps it keeps the energy down.
- 26:32SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
- 26:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:34SPEAKER_03: If it all goes wrong.
- 26:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, absolutely.
- 26:37SPEAKER_03: Um so I think we covered the did we did we cover the track ten before in uh in in the last no.
- 26:44SPEAKER_04: Oh, oh we talked about the we talked about the track ten in the Oshkosh preview video, yeah.
- 26:49SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so the Sirius and actually it was something we predicted was gonna be at the show.
- 26:53SPEAKER_03: We did.
- 26:53SPEAKER_03: We thought, wow, can't wait to see this, because even though it looks a little bit like an SR, it's actually a clean sheet design.
- 26:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:59SPEAKER_03: And it wasn't there.
- 27:00SPEAKER_03: It wasn't there.
- 27:02SPEAKER_03: I was like, oh man, it's not that, which is a real shame.
- 27:04SPEAKER_03: Um so basically we had a chat with Ivy, there's a little video coming out with some more information about the tractone.
- 27:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:10SPEAKER_03: Who spoke about it, and they did actually have two kind of examples of it at Appleton, but they weren't they weren't kind of complete up-to-date examples because they've announced some new avionics and they've announced the 916 engine.
- 27:20SPEAKER_03: I think that's probably got something that isn't a 916 at the moment.
- 27:23SPEAKER_03: So not representative, so we didn't waste our time getting to Appleton and back and go flying them.
- 27:28SPEAKER_03: Um but it's interesting that Cyrus are getting quite serious about the the training fleet at the moment.
- 27:33SPEAKER_03: And indeed, there was another training airplane announced at Oshkosh, which was the Pipestroll Voyager.
- 27:40SPEAKER_03: Um, again, mosaic compliant.
- 27:42SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 27:42SPEAKER_03: Um and it looks like uh almost any other Pipestrol that's basically go, what's the difference of this?
- 27:50SPEAKER_04: I don't I don't like to say that Textron looked around in their catalogue and someone said, We need a we need a tr a mosaic trainer, and someone stuck a pin in that and they went, That's it.
- 27:59SPEAKER_03: So I went to the I went to the press conference which was on the Textron stands.
- 28:02SPEAKER_03: It actually took place this time, which is better than it did a couple of years ago.
- 28:05SPEAKER_03: They invited everyone and nobody knew anything about it there.
- 28:08SPEAKER_03: Um had a look at that and heard about how great it was all going to be.
- 28:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 28:11SPEAKER_03: Um and it was out, we we wandered out onto their they must have the biggest stand.
- 28:15SPEAKER_03: It's a huge process.
- 28:16SPEAKER_03: It's a huge stand.
- 28:17SPEAKER_03: They probably just they probably thought we don't really need this, but we don't want anyone else to have it, is how I imagine that goes.
- 28:23SPEAKER_03: Um and it was parked next to the Pantera.
- 28:25SPEAKER_03: So I took the opportunity to find out what the certification progress had been on the Pantera, and I said, Is the Pantera going to be certified soon?
- 28:32SPEAKER_03: And they went, the program is underway and continuing.
- 28:37SPEAKER_03: I can't give you a date.
- 28:38SPEAKER_04: A bit like their denali.
- 28:40SPEAKER_03: I asked them if it was the longest certification project in Textron's entire history.
- 28:45SPEAKER_03: Because I think it was two thousand.
- 28:46SPEAKER_03: I mean, it wasn't Textron at the time, it was Pippistrone at the time, but 2012, yeah, when we met them at Aero, and they said it will be certified by next year.
- 28:56SPEAKER_03: And then whoever said that probably went on to work up flight design.
- 29:00SPEAKER_04: To be fair, you know, like we said, Textron picked that one up from Pippistril.
- 29:04SPEAKER_03: They did, they did.
- 29:05SPEAKER_04: And they do, Textron do have the Denali, which is the PC-12, uh the aeroplane that looks a bit like a PC-12.
- 29:12SPEAKER_04: It's it's new airframe, new engine.
- 29:13SPEAKER_04: That's that's a long time coming to it.
- 29:15SPEAKER_04: That's a long time coming.
- 29:16SPEAKER_04: And that was at the show last year, wasn't at the show this year, but I'm guessing they're they're they're final stroke.
- 29:21SPEAKER_03: Uh, you know, the final I believe they're in the final throws of flight locations and certifications.
- 29:27SPEAKER_03: So yeah.
- 29:28SPEAKER_03: But I think a track ten is going to be interesting.
- 29:29SPEAKER_03: I think the whole training market's interesting because the the the professional flight training market is booming at the moment and will continue to boom, I suspect.
- 29:37SPEAKER_05: And this is the way that new aircraft come into the market for us small people who end up buying secondhand aircraft at some point.
- 29:44SPEAKER_05: It's the trainers that work make their way down.
- 29:47SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 29:47SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 29:48SPEAKER_03: Now, Ed, I need you to go back a few steps in the agenda.
- 29:52SPEAKER_04: Yes, and talk about the Jabroo twin.
- 29:54SPEAKER_04: That's the one.
- 29:55SPEAKER_04: The Jabroo twin.
- 29:56SPEAKER_04: This was the twin that no one was expecting.
- 29:59SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 29:59SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 30:00SPEAKER_04: Um a few people uh I I didn't know it was happening initially.
- 30:04SPEAKER_04: Someone messaged me and said, Do you know Jabroo's got a twin at Oshkosh?
- 30:07SPEAKER_04: I so I went to find it.
- 30:08SPEAKER_04: I knew that Jabroo had a twin, but this was from like 10 years ago.
- 30:12SPEAKER_04: But again, under Mosaic, which makes twins uh an easier possibility, um Jabberoo have gone.
- 30:20SPEAKER_04: We have something for this.
- 30:21SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 30:22SPEAKER_04: So this is the J432.
- 30:24SPEAKER_04: Uh it's powered by two Jabberoo, two 80 horsepower Jabroo engines.
- 30:28SPEAKER_04: A bit unusual because it looks like a regular Jabroo with two engines on stubs on the nose.
- 30:34SPEAKER_04: It does.
- 30:36SPEAKER_03: Do you think someone went let's just do this?
- 30:40SPEAKER_04: I think so.
- 30:41SPEAKER_04: I know and quite why they didn't go, well, maybe we could make it a tri-motor and just leave the existing engine in the same position.
- 30:48SPEAKER_04: Probably no space for propellers if they'd done that.
- 30:50SPEAKER_04: Because a lot of people were like, I don't think that's gonna work.
- 30:52SPEAKER_04: Even the twin.
- 30:53SPEAKER_04: They look mosaic capscope for three engines.
- 30:55SPEAKER_04: Yeah, probably not.
- 30:56SPEAKER_04: Um anyway, so they're saying um quite optimistically, um, towards the end of 2027, this is going to be available.
- 31:04SPEAKER_04: Um they've had it for 10 years already.
- 31:06SPEAKER_04: Oh my god, you'd think you'd think they should be like, it's ready now.
- 31:09SPEAKER_04: Um apparently not though.
- 31:10SPEAKER_04: Um it's gonna be factory built, cruise speed 125 knots.
- 31:14SPEAKER_04: Um shares 95% of its parts with other jabroos.
- 31:18SPEAKER_04: Kind of not surprising, because look at it.
- 31:20SPEAKER_04: 125 knots.
- 31:21SPEAKER_04: I that seems maybe a little optimistic.
- 31:24SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 31:25SPEAKER_04: It looks a bit draggy.
- 31:26SPEAKER_04: Seems a bit slow to me.
- 31:27SPEAKER_03: Well, yeah, jabbero's.
- 31:29SPEAKER_03: I'm not sure I'd bother with all of the hassle of two engines to go that to go that slowly.
- 31:33SPEAKER_04: And also, I the price number, sometimes people are reluctant to talk about price, but I did hear Jabroo talk about the fact that it's going to be under half a million dollars.
- 31:43SPEAKER_04: But usually when they say under something, it's not like it's oh, so it's going to be a hundred grand.
- 31:47SPEAKER_04: I suspect it's gonna be a smidge under half a million dollars.
- 31:52SPEAKER_05: And that's probably gonna be punchy.
- 31:53SPEAKER_03: I'll bet you they go it's half a million dollars in in 2021 money or something.
- 31:58SPEAKER_04: Who knows?
- 31:59SPEAKER_04: I don't know.
- 31:59SPEAKER_03: But uh No, I don't they probably didn't say that.
- 32:02SPEAKER_04: But if your dream has been, if you've been going, you know what I really want in life is a Jabberoo twin, then the answer is coming.
- 32:08SPEAKER_03: And talking of twins, yes.
- 32:10SPEAKER_03: There was a late announcement in a master stroke of press planning gone wrong.
- 32:15SPEAKER_04: Press planning.
- 32:15SPEAKER_04: Um so Sling announced that there's going to be a twin version of the TSI, which from the photos that I've seen circulating on social media, looks like it'll be quite a pretty thing.
- 32:26SPEAKER_04: Um almost like a a modern day version of a Grumman Cougar, I'd compare it to.
- 32:32SPEAKER_03: So there was a there was a twin.
- 32:34SPEAKER_04: There was a twin.
- 32:35SPEAKER_04: But yeah, so Sling, um again, because of Mosaic.
- 32:38SPEAKER_04: Um so they they say it's and that's going to be two Rotex 916 IS engines.
- 32:43SPEAKER_04: Yeah um and uh Sling are apparently working on that furiously now.
- 32:47SPEAKER_05: So I think Beach should be tempted to bring back the uh the baron, would you?
- 32:52SPEAKER_05: That's a twin worth having.
- 32:53SPEAKER_04: Probably.
- 32:53SPEAKER_04: Oh, that's that's numbers that won't fit in money.
- 32:56SPEAKER_04: That won't fit in mosaic now.
- 32:57SPEAKER_04: Sadly.
- 32:58SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 32:59SPEAKER_03: Talking of twins, because it's a bit of a twin thing.
- 33:01SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 33:02SPEAKER_03: One of the quiet but promising airplanes, I think, at the show was the Seminole with the Delta Hawk engine.
- 33:10SPEAKER_04: I think that's that's clearly gonna be a really realistic tw um training contender, isn't it?
- 33:17SPEAKER_04: Yep.
- 33:18SPEAKER_04: So and I have to say, one of the cleanest engine installs I've ever seen.
- 33:23SPEAKER_03: Really good, really good engine install.
- 33:25SPEAKER_03: For a lot of the diesel engines are going like, you need to fit in 152 extra radiators around here.
- 33:30SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 33:31SPEAKER_03: Um, but this looks really good.
- 33:33SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 33:33SPEAKER_03: Um and I spoke in fact it looked so good that uh they had one engine uncovered, the port engine was uncovered, yeah.
- 33:39SPEAKER_03: The stubborn engine was still cowled.
- 33:41SPEAKER_03: And I kind of had a little poker, kind of little look, and I couldn't actually see anything, so I said, but that's just a dummy, isn't it?
- 33:46SPEAKER_03: And he went, No, no, no, it's got the engine.
- 33:47SPEAKER_03: We flew it here.
- 33:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 33:49SPEAKER_04: Um so and that's a that's quite a state that's a a statement in the in probably in the confidence in that product.
- 33:56SPEAKER_04: Because normally when things are in flight tests, you don't take them and fly them halfway across America to a shape.
- 34:01SPEAKER_03: No, no, absolutely.
- 34:02SPEAKER_03: So I think that I think that's uh I think that's a gonna be an important airplane.
- 34:06SPEAKER_03: Seven and a half gallons an hour per side, which is pretty good of jet A.
- 34:10SPEAKER_03: Um so I think a lot of the schools that prefer the old kind of airframe and the seminal and the space that you get and uh may well end up going down that route.
- 34:18SPEAKER_03: I think that could be Yeah.
- 34:20SPEAKER_05: And of course, you know, it doesn't that doesn't need to have gas either, does it?
- 34:23SPEAKER_05: So outside America, yeah.
- 34:25SPEAKER_05: That's that's that's a real boom.
- 34:26SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 34:27SPEAKER_03: So I think I think I was quite I was quite impressed with that, and I'm looking forward to seeing that.
- 34:31SPEAKER_03: And I remember in the early days, many, many, many years ago, seeing like a Delta Hawk stand that I think was tucked away somewhere in experimental or something like that.
- 34:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 34:38SPEAKER_03: And it it was just one of the if you walk through the experimental area, there's there's always maybe if you look carefully, a dozen projects that are still under maybe more.
- 34:48SPEAKER_03: And you know, you look at them and you go, I want them to succeed.
- 34:50SPEAKER_03: But realistically, you know that you know maybe one might get a bit further kind of.
- 34:55SPEAKER_04: But it's fair to say that Delta Hawk have just tired they've been tirelessly working, yeah, and they've got their certification, and this year they announced um they announced a two-cylinder and a six-cylinder engine as well in develop in development, and um and they showed a um an installation for their four-cylinder on uh 172 as well.
- 35:17SPEAKER_05: So it's an awful long time to go without actually having any revenue though, isn't it?
- 35:22SPEAKER_05: Yeah, it is.
- 35:22SPEAKER_05: You have to you have to really have some good backers.
- 35:24SPEAKER_03: And you get into that, you get into that position and you go, okay, we've spent this much, just a little bit more, it will get us over the hill.
- 35:30SPEAKER_03: Just a little bit more and it'll get us over the hill.
- 35:32SPEAKER_03: I've been in companies before where there's been that little miraculous hill that we're just about to get over.
- 35:38SPEAKER_03: Find the big fortune.
- 35:39SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 35:39SPEAKER_03: Same.
- 35:40SPEAKER_05: Well, talking about engines, a couple of stories from Lycoming and Continental.
- 35:43SPEAKER_05: Lycoming extended the time uh between overhauls, TBO intervals, to 2,600 hours for a range of engines.
- 35:51SPEAKER_05: They include the O320, the IO320, 0360, IO360, the 390, the 540, and the whole IO 540 series.
- 36:00SPEAKER_04: So this is basically another this is a hundred extra hours.
- 36:05SPEAKER_03: If if you get to TBO.
- 36:06SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that's right.
- 36:07SPEAKER_05: Uh and uh Continental also announced an option for the Piper Archer, the later Piper Archers, this is uh 2018 onwards.
- 36:14SPEAKER_03: So this is with the IO370 engine, which is their prime engine.
- 36:18SPEAKER_03: Which is their prime engine, which is basically made of PMA parts.
- 36:21SPEAKER_03: PMA effectively it's a it's I I shouldn't say it's a Lycoming made at Continental.
- 36:27SPEAKER_03: It's an air it's an engine that is will drop in.
- 36:31SPEAKER_03: It's a Continental engine with a lycoming form factor.
- 36:34SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 36:35SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so it will drop in.
- 36:37SPEAKER_03: Um if you've got a if you've got a Lycomi, you can take your Lycoming out and put this one in.
- 36:41SPEAKER_03: It's a drop-in replacement.
- 36:43SPEAKER_03: And the big thing is it's available much, much more than that.
- 36:45SPEAKER_03: Well, yeah, quickly.
- 36:47SPEAKER_04: Continental, clearly with their big new factory and everything, are demonstrating that they can they can make and deliver engines.
- 36:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, and they've faster than the average rider.
- 36:56SPEAKER_03: They also um through different parts of their range, and again we've got a video coming out on this that explains it, have upped the guarantees that they get on some.
- 37:05SPEAKER_03: Some of them have gone up to TBO and some of them in for their rebuild engines, yeah, yeah, really to three years and uh etc, etc.
- 37:12SPEAKER_03: etc.
- 37:13SPEAKER_03: So there's a bit of a a little bit of a Lycoming continental battle, we're gonna up, we're gonna up the TBO, or we're gonna add another year onto the warranty, etc.
- 37:21SPEAKER_03: etc.
- 37:22SPEAKER_04: And that and you you know what that makes me think is that at Oshkosh, Rotax were surprisingly quiet.
- 37:29SPEAKER_04: They just they had their stand.
- 37:31SPEAKER_04: I clearly the 916IS is becoming a dominant engine.
- 37:36SPEAKER_04: I just wonder what's coming down the tubes at at RoTAX.
- 37:40SPEAKER_04: I wonder if next year we might see something new from them.
- 37:44SPEAKER_03: Possibly, possibly.
- 37:45SPEAKER_03: I think it yeah.
- 37:46SPEAKER_03: I mean you're right, the 916IS is becoming ubiquitous.
- 37:51SPEAKER_03: But that's a that's an engine that puts out a lot of heat.
- 37:53SPEAKER_03: I don't know if you remember the Tramp Palmer game where a lot of his pipes and stuff are.
- 37:58SPEAKER_03: Slightly crispy.
- 37:59SPEAKER_03: Slightly crispy.
- 38:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 38:00SPEAKER_03: And I I'm kind of I I'm gonna keep an eye on that, because I think the whole thing.
- 38:05SPEAKER_03: You know, in integrating an engine in without any hassle, particularly in some of the tighter cowl stuff, is gonna be provide some challenges.
- 38:12SPEAKER_05: Yeah, absolutely.
- 38:13SPEAKER_05: A sweet spot in the Rotex range is still the 912 IS, is it, isn't it?
- 38:17SPEAKER_04: It's a good 100 horsepower engine.
- 38:19SPEAKER_04: I wonder if um I wonder if there'll be a I what we don't have is a really good 120 horsepower engine.
- 38:25SPEAKER_03: So I suspect the 912 IS could probably do that, I'm gonna think.
- 38:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, absolutely.
- 38:34SPEAKER_04: And talking talking of engines, TurboTech were there with the turbines.
- 38:37SPEAKER_04: Yes.
- 38:38SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 38:38SPEAKER_04: Um and I think uh that for me, uh very quickly, is that uh TurboTech have done an incredible job on making people go, you know, turbines for light aircraft, this is a viable solution.
- 38:51SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 38:51SPEAKER_04: Because people were, you know, people always go, oh the fuel bone will be crazy at low level and it won't be.
- 38:56SPEAKER_04: But actually, the tur the TPR 90 on the uh turbine carbon cub, which was there.
- 39:03SPEAKER_04: Um uh Cubcrafters spoke about how this engine has been really good.
- 39:08SPEAKER_04: So um and they've been working closely with with Topotech.
- 39:11SPEAKER_05: Did they start it up the cup the uh sadly no?
- 39:14SPEAKER_04: I think that what they should have done on the stand is just had continuous start cycles because we would have all been there obsessed.
- 39:19SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 39:20SPEAKER_04: Listen, and then there would be people down when we go, ah, that smell of Jet A.
- 39:25SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 39:25SPEAKER_03: Jet A, yeah.
- 39:26SPEAKER_04: So yeah, so lots of really good news at Oshkosh.
- 39:30SPEAKER_04: Um more story?
- 39:31SPEAKER_04: Oh, one more story.
- 39:32SPEAKER_03: I think it's you, Ed.
- 39:34SPEAKER_04: It's me?
- 39:34SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 39:35SPEAKER_03: Oh look at that.
- 39:36SPEAKER_04: Oh yeah.
- 39:37SPEAKER_04: There is loads.
- 39:38SPEAKER_04: There's so much news.
- 39:39SPEAKER_04: Something else, uh, Zenith Aircraft Company also announced the CH750 Supercruiser.
- 39:44SPEAKER_04: That's a super.
- 39:45SPEAKER_04: That's a cruiser with a zenith.
- 39:46SPEAKER_04: Super cruiser, yeah.
- 39:47SPEAKER_04: Uh so super cruiser.
- 39:49SPEAKER_04: Yeah, supercruiser.
- 39:50SPEAKER_04: Um uh yeah.
- 39:52SPEAKER_04: Uh that's your combined the CH750 Super Duty, which is the three-seater, um, with the CH750 Cruiser, which was the uh the modern day update of the CH701 with a sportier wing.
- 40:07SPEAKER_04: Uh basically uh high cross um high cross-country uh cruise speed, um while still retaining really good useful load, spacious cabin, short takeoff and landing.
- 40:16SPEAKER_04: So um and aircraft has a VNE of 150 miles an hour, um cruise speeds above 120 miles an hour using a 180 horse engine and fixed pitch prop.
- 40:26SPEAKER_03: 180 horse engine in that.
- 40:28SPEAKER_04: That just seems to me like I knew what you would say is that's that's almost like a more madness, is what it what I would say.
- 40:35SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 40:35SPEAKER_04: But that's that Zen Air, uh Zenith do make robust, yeah useful aeroplanes.
- 40:41SPEAKER_04: So you go, I wonder if they're going that could be a trainer under mosaic.
- 40:45unknown: Yeah.
- 40:45SPEAKER_05: I think it's the thing I don't like about the Zen Air.
- 40:48SPEAKER_05: I mean, I love the aircraft, but there is one thing, and that's their stick.
- 40:51SPEAKER_05: It's got the Y-type top in them, you know?
- 40:54SPEAKER_05: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:54SPEAKER_05: It's a single stick, but two Y with a Y.
- 40:57SPEAKER_03: I don't mind that.
- 40:57SPEAKER_03: You get used to it.
- 40:58SPEAKER_03: I kind of it's the if you jump out of something, if you were to jump out of a seminal or a PA28 or a Cessna 172 and into a Zen A, you go, this feels a little bit lighter.
- 41:07SPEAKER_03: Because it is much, much lighter, but they are rugged and tough.
- 41:10SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they're not they're only beautiful if you can imagine what they're capable of.
- 41:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 41:15SPEAKER_03: Um because otherwise they're just a bit well, they frequently have installed competitions, don't you?
- 41:19SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah, and they do lots of good backcountry stuff, and they do backcountry stuff with a nose wheel, so you don't you don't even have to know what your feet are for until it comes around to turning around.
- 41:27SPEAKER_04: And and Zenith Zenith do have a reputation for producing um good value for money aeroplanes.
- 41:33SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 41:34SPEAKER_04: Because a lot of people talk about the fact that lots of stuff is unaffordable, but um but there are they they are definitely one of the the the better value.
- 41:42SPEAKER_03: Talking of unaffordable or affordable, more to the point, yeah.
- 41:46SPEAKER_03: Um I had a quick look at the um the high wing.
- 41:50SPEAKER_05: Sonic's high wing.
- 41:51SPEAKER_03: The Sonic High Wing.
- 41:52SPEAKER_03: Which is now called the Phoenix.
- 41:54SPEAKER_03: The Phoenix, yeah, that's it.
- 41:55SPEAKER_03: I can't think why it was called the Phoenix.
- 41:56SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's now called the Phoenix.
- 41:58SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 41:58SPEAKER_03: Um and kits for that, I think, were like without fire up to up to without the engine, something like$39,000.
- 42:04SPEAKER_03: Quick quit build.
- 42:05SPEAKER_03: They were estimating that you could finish one for$69,000.
- 42:09SPEAKER_03: That's a good value.
- 42:10SPEAKER_03: Which is good value.
- 42:11SPEAKER_03: That probably won't have the latest Garmin Avionics in it, but you wouldn't, you know, it's an airplane that's been done for low cost.
- 42:17SPEAKER_03: Cantilever design, yeah.
- 42:18SPEAKER_03: Used to get in and out of.
- 42:19SPEAKER_03: It's kind of an interesting little thing.
- 42:21SPEAKER_03: Again, not the world's prettiest aircraft.
- 42:24SPEAKER_03: Uses in the eye beholder and all that stuff, but um I think the paint scheme is good to do that.
- 42:29SPEAKER_05: Made it look a lot better than it uh did without the paint scheme.
- 42:32SPEAKER_05: It looks finished now.
- 42:32SPEAKER_05: It does look.
- 42:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it looks finished, doesn't it?
- 42:36SPEAKER_04: One thing I just thought of, um uh, and we've got a video coming up on this, so I won't give uh won't do it uh spoil any of the news, but uh I did speak to Steve Wood at um Spirit Aircraft.
- 42:47SPEAKER_05: Yep.
- 42:48SPEAKER_04: Um and they have sold a lot of aeroplanes, they're ramping up production massively, and they had a bubble canopy on display.
- 42:55SPEAKER_04: Looks really good.
- 42:56SPEAKER_04: For colder climates, it does look really good.
- 42:57SPEAKER_04: So watch out for that video.
- 42:59SPEAKER_04: Uh coming up soon.
- 43:01SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 43:01SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 43:01SPEAKER_03: Yeah, no, that's very good.
- 43:03SPEAKER_03: Very good.
- 43:05SPEAKER_04: And that's it.
- 43:05SPEAKER_04: And that's it.
- 43:06SPEAKER_03: And that's it.
- 43:07SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 43:07SPEAKER_03: It was smoky, it was windy, the temperature wasn't too hot, the food was still the food.
- 43:13SPEAKER_04: It was yeah, the food was the food, but it did feel it's it's it almost felt like it wasn't gonna get going Sunday, Monday, but it did.
- 43:20SPEAKER_04: There was a lot of people there, especially on the night show days.
- 43:24SPEAKER_04: Yeah um, yeah, I know you've skipped the night show.
- 43:28SPEAKER_04: Um the night the night shows are a good bit of osh kosh.
- 43:32SPEAKER_04: And the red arrows are there.
- 43:33SPEAKER_04: And the red arrows turned up, and I watched them display on Friday, um, which was my last full day there, and they did a lovely job.
- 43:39SPEAKER_05: So again, just looking through that list of what we just talked about, that's quite a lot, you know.
- 43:43SPEAKER_05: Oh my name.
- 43:44SPEAKER_05: Well, it's a big show.
- 43:45SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 43:46SPEAKER_03: EAA said preliminary numbers were seven hundred and thirty thousand, which I'm which I'm wondering who if the person who started person left flight design and went to work for the EAA Stats Department.
- 43:58SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 43:58SPEAKER_03: Because I can't I'm
- 44:03SPEAKER_04: It's a big show and it continues to be the world leader, doesn't it?
- 44:07SPEAKER_04: Oh, yeah.
- 44:09SPEAKER_03: But if you want the same thing civilized, then start saving your money to go to Aero, because that's a great show with a little bit of easier to cope with.
- 44:18SPEAKER_04: I spoke to a lot of uh quite a few Americans this year who were like, tell me about more about Aero.
- 44:23SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:23SPEAKER_03: So you need to be there.
- 44:26SPEAKER_03: Yeah, you do.
- 44:27SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 44:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 44:29SPEAKER_04: Right then.
- 44:32SPEAKER_04: So uh a time for what caught your eye, Dave.
- 44:35SPEAKER_05: What caught your eye?
- 44:36SPEAKER_05: What caught my eye was uh uh a Facebook reel from uh the real aeroplane club at Breeton, and uh they were showing the Blackburn B2.
- 44:47SPEAKER_05: Now, um Shuttle, in fact, it's Shuttleworth's Blackburn B2, it's the only flying one in the world.
- 44:52SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 44:52SPEAKER_05: They went to Britain for the uh best of uh British day.
- 44:55SPEAKER_05: Um and at first glance, when I first saw it, I was thinking, it just looks like a tiger boss.
- 45:00SPEAKER_05: Oh no.
- 45:00SPEAKER_05: But then you look a bit closer, you don't have to look very close, to be fair.
- 45:04SPEAKER_05: You see, it's got side-by-side seating, it's got uh an all-metal fuselage, and it was just beautiful.
- 45:10SPEAKER_04: It's all all polished, isn't it?
- 45:12SPEAKER_04: All very polished, yeah.
- 45:13SPEAKER_03: And it looked like a tiger boss then.
- 45:15SPEAKER_05: The wings it was a biplane.
- 45:17SPEAKER_05: And also the nose, the the the counting on the nose looked very similar to a tiger boss inline engine.
- 45:23SPEAKER_05: Just 42 of them were produced between 1932 and 37, serving with flying schools and training RF reserve pilots.
- 45:30SPEAKER_05: Um, the aircraft that visited Britain was built in 1936, and it's a really beautiful aircraft.
- 45:36SPEAKER_05: Look at it, it's real.
- 45:38SPEAKER_05: I look forward to that.
- 45:40SPEAKER_03: Ian.
- 45:41SPEAKER_03: Well, just a short one for me.
- 45:43SPEAKER_03: Um earlier this week, the world saw 153,000 commercial flights take place in 24 hours.
- 45:52SPEAKER_03: That's basically it is a record.
- 45:54SPEAKER_03: It is a record.
- 45:54SPEAKER_03: It's nearly two takeoffs every second.
- 45:58SPEAKER_03: And the best bit, no accidents.
- 46:00SPEAKER_03: So that I mean when you think about the infrastructure that has you know, all the training that's gone into the manufacture, the certification, the air traffic, the airports, all you know, basically all of it really taken from IKAO in in most of the world.
- 46:15SPEAKER_03: Um and we got 153,000 movements in 24 hours completely safely.
- 46:22SPEAKER_04: And let's not let's not forget where that begins as well.
- 46:27SPEAKER_04: Um because it begins with people doing a PPL.
- 46:30SPEAKER_04: Absolutely.
- 46:30SPEAKER_04: Yeah, yeah.
- 46:31SPEAKER_04: CAA.
- 46:32SPEAKER_04: When you're talking about future of flight, it's not just about drones, it's about it's about flying.
- 46:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 46:38SPEAKER_04: It's about flying, yeah.
- 46:39SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 46:40SPEAKER_03: So I was uh you know, there's a as you can see, there's a little flight radar twenty-four demonstration.
- 46:46SPEAKER_03: There's lots of things going all over the place.
- 46:47SPEAKER_03: All over the place.
- 46:48SPEAKER_03: All safely, which is pretty amazing, really.
- 46:50SPEAKER_04: That is a that's an impressive stat.
- 46:52SPEAKER_04: It is an impressive stat.
- 46:53SPEAKER_04: So uh and that just leaves me.
- 46:56SPEAKER_04: It does.
- 46:56SPEAKER_04: And uh and at Air Venture was something on a much smaller scale, but was no less no less fantastic to watch, and that was pedal venture, which was a whole bunch of kids in little pedal planes.
- 47:12SPEAKER_04: And I like pedal planes are fantastic.
- 47:15SPEAKER_04: I I have a I have a problem at Oshgosh.
- 47:17SPEAKER_04: No, I have a problem.
- 47:19SPEAKER_04: I yeah, I built a pedal plane once, yeah.
- 47:22SPEAKER_04: Uh uh, we had a kit from a German manufacturer and we we built it and we donated it to Air Ability and they raffled it and made some money.
- 47:28SPEAKER_04: But I'd at Oshgosh, I see they have a little corral of well actually quite a big corral, of all of all the of all the pedal planes, and they've they've roped it off because people like me will will go, I want to go and sit in one of those because they look so cool.
- 47:44SPEAKER_04: Um I resist the temptation to do that.
- 47:46SPEAKER_04: But anyway, so uh what do you think?
- 47:49SPEAKER_04: What do you need?
- 47:49SPEAKER_04: How many pedal planes do you think you need to set a record for pedal planes?
- 47:53SPEAKER_03: A hundred.
- 47:54SPEAKER_04: It was sixty-five.
- 47:56SPEAKER_04: Sixty-five pedal planes, each with a child in, fully finished, and um apparently that was a new record.
- 48:01SPEAKER_04: And you can look at the photos and you go, that looks amazing.
- 48:04SPEAKER_04: Wow.
- 48:04SPEAKER_03: So um uh the Did they count them at the 65 at the end as well?
- 48:08SPEAKER_04: Yeah, they were definitely there were definitely 65 at the end.
- 48:10SPEAKER_04: It's i they don't go that fast.
- 48:12SPEAKER_04: It's it's difficult to lose a child in a pedal plane.
- 48:15SPEAKER_04: Probably not impossible though.
- 48:17SPEAKER_04: Um uh so Oshkosh has Kid Venture as well, which traditionally that's always been over at Pioneer.
- 48:23SPEAKER_04: Um the good news is that um they broke ground on a new Kid Venture Centre, which is just off to the side of vintage.
- 48:29SPEAKER_04: So Kid Venture is actually coming in into the grounds, I think, for Oshkosh 2027, which is magnificent.
- 48:35SPEAKER_04: So what's that gonna be called?
- 48:38SPEAKER_04: Kid Venture.
- 48:39SPEAKER_05: Kid Venture, I suppose.
- 48:40SPEAKER_05: So we're gonna be called Kid Venture.
- 48:41SPEAKER_04: Fair enough.
- 48:42SPEAKER_04: Um if and uh two things to note the prototype pedal plane, the world's first pedal plane, is in the Oshkosh, is in the Oshkosh uh museum.
- 48:51SPEAKER_04: There's a first pedal plane.
- 48:52SPEAKER_04: There is a first pedal plane.
- 48:53SPEAKER_04: It was a pit special, apparently.
- 48:56SPEAKER_04: So so EA says.
- 48:58SPEAKER_04: Um and if I was a kid, so one of the pedal planes was a pedal plane replica of a Reno racer called Red Baron.
- 49:05SPEAKER_04: That's the one I would want.
- 49:08SPEAKER_05: Three wings, triple wings.
- 49:09SPEAKER_04: No, not that the reason going a sleepy red baron.
- 49:14SPEAKER_04: No, no, no, no, no, it was a P51 Dave.
- 49:16SPEAKER_04: Oh, right.
- 49:17SPEAKER_04: And a Griffin engine and contra-rotating propellers.
- 49:19SPEAKER_04: That's right.
- 49:19SPEAKER_04: This is Reno for Reno.
- 49:21SPEAKER_04: Imagine.
- 49:21SPEAKER_04: No one's gonna win on a triplane DR1 and you get laughed out of there.
- 49:26SPEAKER_04: So, yes.
- 49:26SPEAKER_04: So there you go.
- 49:27SPEAKER_04: Habilous enough.
- 49:29SPEAKER_05: Events.
- 49:29SPEAKER_05: Events, yes.
- 49:30SPEAKER_05: It's uh it's not it's a reasonably busy weekend.

- 49:46SPEAKER_05: Uh all French aircraft are welcome.
- 49:48SPEAKER_05: In fact, other aircraft are welcome as well, but they're making it a French thing.
- 49:52SPEAKER_03: Take my French sister in.
- 49:54SPEAKER_05: You can, you can.
- 49:55SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
