- 0:10All right, so two stories to get through here, both regarding
- 0:15Queensland Police. Two former Queensland Police
- 0:18officers will tell you one of them is so disappointing.
- 0:24So disappointing. Anyway, let's check out this
- 0:26first story. OK, first one, this will just be
- 0:29a quick episode. Former senior Mackay police
- 0:31officer sentenced of a child abuse material.
- 0:36This is pretty shocking, I've got to be honest.
- 0:38I anyway a former senior Queensland Police officer so he
- 0:42will serve three months in jail. Seems a little light the
- 0:46sentencing anyway. So three months in jail after
- 0:49accessing extreme Child Exploitation material through
- 0:52the darknet. The Mackay District Court heard
- 0:55Mark Andrew Lewa, 52, had engaged in the illicit material
- 0:59between August 2021 and March 2024.
- 1:04He is a father of three. He pleaded guilty to 1 count of
- 1:07possessing Child Exploitation material and one count of using
- 1:10a carriage service to access child abuse material.
- 1:13Judge Susan Sheridan handed down an 18 month sentence due to the
- 1:18prolonged and serious nature of the offending, directing lua
- 1:22serve a period of three months in jail before 2 years of
- 1:26probation. Personally, that sentence feels
- 1:31seems a little light considering, you know, the new
- 1:34laws that have been passed recently and the sentences that
- 1:37they were they, they're talking about for these things.
- 1:40And yet Child Exploitation done over several years, three months
- 1:46in jail. I think they, they need to
- 1:48really hand down sentences that really strike fear in people's
- 1:53hearts. That's what you need.
- 1:55That's just my opinion. So prosecutor Grace Ollison said
- 1:59authorities had been alerted to profiles in a darknet site
- 2:03appearing to contain Louis name backwards and numbers relating
- 2:07to his police badge number. Wow, that is just, sorry, that's
- 2:15dumb, that is dumb. Allison said the police searched
- 2:20the then senior sergeant's Mccly house on March 4/20/24.
- 2:25He resigned from the force shortly afterwards, resigned in
- 2:30disgrace. The court heard Lure had been
- 2:32cooperative with police, handing over devices and passwords, but
- 2:36that he claimed he didn't did not know viewing the material
- 2:40was an offence. Senior Sergeant didn't know
- 2:43that. Wow.
- 2:44OK, so is he saying he should never have been a senior
- 2:48Sergeant? Because dude, you, you mightn't
- 2:54realise, but if you're out there, but if you're a senior
- 2:57Sergeant in the Queensland Police Service, you have a lot
- 3:01of experience. A lot, lots of experience, OK.
- 3:04You don't just get to senior Sergeant overnight.
- 3:07You, you know, there's no one in senior Sergeant who's only got
- 3:115-10 years experience. You, you're like a, a 20 year
- 3:15plus. So Allison said a not
- 3:18insignificant amount of material, including 82 images of
- 3:22sexually sexual activity. I don't want to go into all that
- 3:26self denial. Defence solicitor Greg McGuire
- 3:30argued the web pages containing the two were were not frequently
- 3:33closed by his defendant, which had skewed the site visitation
- 3:38numbers in that it was unknown exactly what had been accessed
- 3:42on the dark the Dark net. McGuire said his client had
- 3:46expressed feelings of regrets, embarrassment, shame and remorse
- 3:50and that media coverage had exacerbated his shame.
- 3:54Of course it did. Of course, what do you think's
- 3:56going to happen? Of course it exacerbates your
- 3:58shame, but that's not that shouldn't be considered for part
- 4:02of the punishment. You need people if you're going
- 4:05to access this kind of material, you need to be punished and
- 4:09punished properly. So he's argued that Lua has
- 4:12already experienced enough punishment.
- 4:13Basically, he's after his arrest.
- 4:16It's a damaged relationships with his friends, former wife
- 4:19and three children. I don't know how you, how your
- 4:22children are going to react over these things anyway.
- 4:24And cost him his job in the police service.
- 4:28Well, yeah, your own actions cost you your job lad.
- 4:32McGuire said that it also become clear during mental evaluations
- 4:36that Lua had experienced a level of self denial and repression of
- 4:40his behaviour and had used the Internet as a form of escapism.
- 4:45The court heard Lua had shown positive steps in rehabilitation
- 4:48with a psychologist. Listen, what blows me away more
- 4:52is that a senior Sergeant in the Queensland Police Service can
- 4:56claim that he did not know viewing the material was an
- 4:59offence. You know, that's either a
- 5:03straight out lie or he is just not an intelligent person, one
- 5:08or the other. And then you've got to if, if,
- 5:11if he didn't know if that's genuine, well, then you've got
- 5:14to ask yourself, how did you become a senior Sergeant in the
- 5:17Queensland Police Service in the first place?
- 5:20You know, standards, standards. I keep sort of talking about how
- 5:24standards have been lowered in the Queensland Police Service.
- 5:27Crikey. Anyway, let's go to the next
- 5:30story and listen to this. This is a bit of shenanigans
- 5:33from this Former QLD policeman Zach Aaron Tudley apologizes for
- 5:39pointing evidence for gambling. Gambling cash?
- 5:46Oh no, I've just realised what this story is about.
- 5:54OK, I remember this now. I remember I did.
- 5:56I talked about this story a couple of years ago when it all
- 6:01came out because it didn't make sense.
- 6:03OK, let's go through this. Former Queensland cop who pawned
- 6:06police evidence to fund his gambling habit has described his
- 6:10actions as a lifelong regrets. Oh OK, he's apologised for
- 6:16bringing the service into disrepute after he after he
- 6:19busted pawning evidence to fund his gambling addiction.
- 6:24Zach Aaron Chudley, 32, told Brisbane Magistrates Court
- 6:27during his sentence on Friday that he was obviously very sorry
- 6:31for his actions. Yeah lad, I'm pretty sure this
- 6:34lad kept denying everything, didn't he?
- 6:37OK, my apologies, I have. I've had to restart this episode
- 6:40again because I've only just realised I was reading the the
- 6:44episode. I was reading the article
- 6:46yesterday and I didn't suddenly when I started going through and
- 6:51I'm like, wait up. That name sounds so familiar.
- 6:53And then I'm like, so I had to stop and I've got to look this
- 6:58up properly and I'm like, that's right.
- 7:01That was this dude. Former cop cleared of stealing
- 7:05luxury watches from a raid. This is Chudley, I didn't story
- 7:10about this a couple of years ago because it all seemed very
- 7:12suspicious. So he's been cleared of this.
- 7:15Apparently he's walked walked free from court after a jury
- 7:19found him not guilty of stealing luxury watches seized in an anti
- 7:24anti gang raid. Zach Aaron Chudley had faced
- 7:28trial in Brisbane District Court this week, accused of taking
- 7:31three luxury watches from an evidence lockup and selling them
- 7:34for jewellery from to a jeweller for more than 90 grand.
- 7:39Oh. Chadley formerly served as a
- 7:41senior Connie in the Queensland Police Crime and Intelligence
- 7:45Command. Not much intelligence getting
- 7:47around in that command, I would say.
- 7:49The the jury members handed them their decision on Wednesday
- 7:53after liberating for four hours. But hey, kind of justice, kind
- 7:59of justice in the long run, I suppose.
- 8:03No one's been caught, put it that way for the for the missing
- 8:07watch going missing. But Zach Chudley gets busted for
- 8:13a couple of phones, lost his job, all that kind of thing.
- 8:16Just some more embarrassing times for the Queensland Police
- 8:21Service and some very, very well the first the first one is
- 8:27extremely disappointing. OK, anything that anything that
- 8:30involves Child Exploitation, Disgusting and very
- 8:34disappointing. That second one is just is just
- 8:37so laughable. But good on QPS for still going
- 8:41after Zach Chudley regardless of the outcome of the other.
- 8:45You know, the luxury watch and that, but they still went after
- 8:48him anyway. Anyway, just a few things to
- 8:51talk about within QPS and the continual disappointment that
- 8:56they are for us as Queenslanders.
- 8:58Hey, this is all my opinion. Please let me know what you
- 9:00think.
