- Alex: All right, gents. Welcome back here. Sunday afternoon. Dude, it has been a full day of I'd like to say just sitting and doing nothing. it's what it felt like because we like everything I did was in one room for the entire day because of the open championship and then the World Cup final that like I cleaned the pantry, I cleaned the fridge, like I was like all the chores that I have that need to be done. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: Yeah. Alex: in these two rooms so that I can watch the game. That's what's gonna happen today. Marcus: Y you know, I did something similar. I hadn't I hadn't re-seasoned that blackstone in I don't know how long, like since we moved over here. And today I just decided to r season it just so I could watch the first half outside without any noise, and it's just me outside seasoning that black grill. Jason: Yeah. Alex: Yeah. Just trying just trying to find a reason to do anything, watch the game. Well, I really need to like I started a a project in the closet, in our closet, get us some more storage. And I started probably two weeks ago. We've just been busy and I was like, I'm gonna work on that today. I'll put the game on the iPad. And then I was like, that's stupid. I'm not putting the game on the iPad. Like, why am I gonna do that? Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. Give me the biggest room. Jason: was totally lazy. Just watched miles. We hung out in the family room. No cleaning, no nothing. Just couch bum today. Marcus: Nice. Alex: Ugh, yeah. That that's what it felt like for most of the day, dude. The we'll get right into it here. The the open was interesting, to say the least. I mean it was it felt like the whole top of the leaderboard was obviously like big names. And then it was a bunch of like random like Siwoo Kim jumped up there at one point, which I don't want to say he's not a big name. He's just not, you know, like a big, big name. He's he's a steady eddy type person. Jason: Mm-hmm. Right. Alex: So like he climbed up there you know, I go, Okay, Siwoo's gonna do it. But then next thing I know, like two holes later, Siwoo's back to like eight under and Young is leading in. I'm like, What the heck is going on here? It was just all over the place. Jason: Yeah, Bernsey had control after the first three holes, then all of a sudden it was like bogey bogey bogey, left the door open, and then all of a sudden Shuffler now was a stroke behind. And you're like, What? Alex: Mm-hmm. Yeah. So I wanna let's talk about that the Scheffler controversy because I thought that was interesting. And I didn't see it. I I read a bunch about it afterwards and I saw obviously some posts that I guess it was just in one of those times that I was kind of doing some other stuff. I kind of watched some of the replays and i I kind of agree with the thought of like you need to be able to find your ball to identify it and say that you have what is it, T I O or T I A. temporary immovable object, T Io, in your way. Like 'cause he couldn't even find his ball. Like it could have been it could have been in the bushes behind it. So it's like I I get the frustration from some of the players 'cause like if he had won, it's like, well, that's not it sh it should have been a Retee and a two stroke penalty essentially. Jason: Im Yeah. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: yeah, I didn't see much of Shufflers. I know the big one was DeShembo's issue. but I know Scheffler what he was by the barrier or something like that. Alex: Uh-huh. It was one of the hospitality tents he hit it into and but it was like it was in a spot that it also could have just been in the bushes and everyone one side of the argument is it should have just been treated as a lost ball. And the other side of the argument was, well, it's a TIO, like it 'cause it's kind of the same thing. Like if your ball rolls under one of those stands, like how are you gonna get under there to identify it? But usually there's a camera that shows it going under it. Like it's pretty obvious, like it went under. Jason: Yeah. Marcus: Mm. Mm-hmm. Alex: In this situation, like it's not that. So I don't know. I can see it both ways for sure. Marcus: Yeah, it's just such a rare rule to like go into effect that I mean, I think I'm I'm with you just kinda looking at it through here. I mean, lost ball is a lost ball, but also having that temporary structure in the way kinda doesn't let you play the golf the way it's meant to be, you know? Alex: That's kind of always been one of the arguments, like, and it's not taking anything away from any of these players, but like you're always like, What would they have shot if the tent wasn't there? 'Cause how many times do you see someone hit one of those hospitality tents? Like when they're behind the green and they overshoot the green and it hits it and it bounces back and you're like, Well, shoot, if I'm playing that course and I do that, like when I blade it over the green, it's over the green a hundred yards. Like I don't have a backstop to help me here. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: Yeah, I mean, there's always the TIOs always involved. but I mean that is that's part of the benefit, I think, of the pros and the cameras. They see it. And I I mean, I guess it's kind of the benefit of the doubt that he saw it and they could make arrangements. It kind of goes back to what it was last year when Ricky Fowler had his ball kind of in the rough. Alex: So Uh-huh. Jason: But all of a sudden he could get free relief, but then his intended shot line was now obstructed by T.I.O. So he got extra more relief. And so that was a little weird. But yeah, with Scotty, I I've got to go back and look more of the replays with his. But I it's not the first time players have gone into the hospitality tanks in those areas and they've Alex: Imp impeded by T I O. Yeah. Jason: Said, that's it. And then they gave him free relief. Alex: Yeah, it's it's not. I mean, it a lot of players have done it, it is what it is. I just thought that was controversial. I the D'Jambo, obviously, and like you have again, you have you have a ton of people like he was like a WWE star in there just jumping on top of the grass. Then you have other people like it's it's three foot tall grass, like you kind of have to high step to move your feet through that stuff. Like you're not just gonna drag your feet though. So it's like I get it both ways again. Like it it's hard to like Jason: That's a big one. Alex: You're not the person doing it, so you can't really judge sometimes. Jason: Yeah. I Marcus: It's like I don't know, they kind of made it like he had like some weed whacker attachment to his shoes that was clearing a path. That's Jason: That was the part I wasn't sure about, but then I've watched a lot of the different things. And of course, they brought in a camera angle that was not shown. So this is part of my beef with the way they've been covering a lot of the golf over the last couple of years. Like they're not very I just don't think the coverage is very good as far as following players and certain components. so what we initially saw live Alex: Uh-huh. Jason: Like, okay, he's in the rough, he hacked out of it. But then when you go back and look at it, there was again the trampling, the grass was leaned over, but I know they couldn't prove it, so that's why they said it was inadvertent. But I think I know Rory had his beef with it, but Alex: Yeah, he didn't mince words on how he feels about the shampoo. I mean, I feel it's like every like every few months Rory comes up with some something against someone and says it and it's like and then he goes and gets off camera for a little bit and then comes back. It's like Jason: No. Yeah, I I don't know. I think I think it's like whatever the penalty was there. He didn't mean to do it. But I think part of the problem was how he proceeded to behave when they were questioning him about it and kind of dragging everything out and trying to make a big thing about it. But I mean, I get walking in there, but I think what they noticed is And I watched the replays a few times just I was like, what is going on? The grass definitely was stepped back on, which would give his backswing technically a little bit more clearance. Again, how he was trampling through there, I was looking for my ball. I can't believe he actually found it to be honest. Alex: Yeah, but that that's one of the things, like, how many times have one of us good played a course that has a native similar to that? And like, to some extent, you kind of are pushing the grass one way or the other because you are trying to find it. And then we talked about it, Jason, last podcast was thinkbox play box. Like, my think box is behind the ball. I'm gonna stand behind the ball. I'm gonna walk up to my ball. Like, so just could he have done it more delicately? Absolutely. I think the biggest thing that you have to Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: Prove when you do stuff like this, with this specifically, because there are things you do unintentionally, but you have to prove intention. Did he have a malicious intention to do this? I don't think so. I think he was just walking in three foot tall grass. Like it just is what it is. Like I don't I don't know. I and I didn't love that it was retroactive. Like every game, every group, to my knowledge, has a marshal that walks with them, a rules official. So could they have just handled it at that moment? Jason: No. Mm-mm. See, that's the part I was confused. That's why I had to replay it. It's like I read that they had a Marshall with them, but did someone just say something post round or as the round went on, they're like, Hey, we we need to double check Bryson on that whole five. Like, how did it even come up? Alex: the RNA the RNA pulled a page out of the FIFA playbook and decided to V A R check this thing after the goal was scored, you know. I I don't know. I don't know how I don't know how it got brought up. Marcus: Ha ha Yeah. That's good. Jason: I mean, I know what's happened before. Yeah, no, so it has happened. I think was it Patrick Reed fans noticed it and then they sent clips of it to the officials and said, Hey, you need to assess this. So that's what I'm saying. I I know it's happened where fans have noticed and made comments, and maybe that's where they finally went back and like, let's double check and notice that the grass was a little matted behind his. Marcus: Someone called it in. Alex: Yeah. Jason: Not so much behind his ball, but behind his club path, I think is what the argument was kind of stemming from. Like it could have interfered with his club shaft or something. Alex: Yeah, I don't it's interesting. I don't know. It is what it is. but some fun facts I will say about this. One, Ryan Fox doesn't have a pretty swing. That was it's good good for good for him. no what something that fascinated me because you watch these guys and what, nine under one it right? No, ten under because he was nine he made the last put. Jason: But No. Still better than mine. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: In the grand scheme, I think that's only what two and a half under through four rounds, like each round essentially. So you're either at two or three under. And I get Fox shot a sixty-two, which was an eight under one day. But it's like you want the you say and you watch these things and you're like, ten under. That's like that's big for a championship. And then you're like, really? That means he only averaged two under every day. Like that's pretty like it's impressive. The the course played tough. so it's it's fun to see. Jason: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Alex: Fun to see these guys play a course like that. Jason: man, it was ridiculous. Like they would hit shots and you're like, that's great. Running down the fairway and then it runs into the thick or it runs into a pot bunker. I was like, gosh, I I can't imagine. I mean, that's the open though. We know they know it always plays that way. But I felt like I don't know, just I guess I got used to the last several years. It's usually colder, it's usually windier. there's a little bit more fog, mist. Alex: Yeah, through the fairway. Jason: or even some coastal showers. This was sunny, like eighties, winds maybe twenty on the worst points. So it seemed like it was a much different setup than we've used to see. Alex: Yeah, it's they've they even said that. They were like, it's it's pretty much been the weather of like what a SoCal tournament would give you. Like it wasn't wasn't hot, wasn't cold, you know. And and an argument that I will say on gear from Ryan Fox. So we talked about the ball rollback a few podcasts ago and how we said, you know, th they just need to make players play in. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Alex: irons and drivers that are more punishing and they can just play those. And everyone, everyone's argument to that is well, golf's the one sport that you can use the exact same gear that the pros use. Ryan Fox is playing with unreleased Shrixon irons that have not touched the market. It there's there's ZXI. So his his woods the whole top of his bag are some ZXI, I think it's RKT. like Rocket. I don't know if they're gonna call it Rocket or what, but they're unreleased Woods. And that's like then you start looking. Fleetwood plays with clubs. I think he actually plays with TWs. I think Scotty plays with TWs. But like Rory has their own prototype, Colin has his own prototype irons. You know, all of your big guys really have their own prototype irons, especially if they have a club deal. So, anyways, I found that interesting. I was like Jason: Yeah, I think so does. I think they do. Marcus: Yeah. Alex: The argument is, we all get to use the same clubs as the pros, but I don't have access to the ZXI RKT woods, do you? Jason: What is what irons is he playing? The Z X I sevens and the forged? Alex: know what his my club makeup is. I can look here. It should say online. I I I should leave that to our our resident researcher. Jason: I it will. I know they always post it. Here's the champions winning clubs. Alex: I like how Marcus, you can always just see him when he's typing away on stuff, doing research for us. He's he's our he's our research person while we're on the podcast. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: I know, he's just looking like what are we seeing? What do we got? Marcus: You always need a background guy. Alex: I don't know. I'd Jason: Well it's well it's interesting you mentioned that because while you're looking it up, just kinda thinking, you know, these guys have these prototypes, but then again, how many I assume you assume these are all conforming, right? These are all things that are, you know, included in the list. I know DeChambeau actually switched out to some new irons this tournament. Alex: Mm-hmm. Jason: Than what he's usually been playing. he got rid of the graphite iron shafts, he's in X100s. and then he played the ball further back instead. So he changed a lot of things for this tournament and it panned out for three rounds. today was a little rough for him. But it's interesting to see him kind of go back to kind of what it was before he did all this crazy stuff. But I'm curious what irons he's playing. Alex: It says on Shrikson's website it has ZX I five and ZX I seven irons, which means he probably has a combo like four or five are probably the fives and then everything else is sevens or something like that. Jason: Mm-hmm. Pretty much your typical good amateur makeup. Alex: That's a great amateur Marcus: Yeah. Alex: makeup. ZXI fives and sevens all day. That's that's a that's a good like that's a good scratch to ten handicap makeup right there. D obviously depending on your swings. Jason: Yeah. Yeah. I mean That's something call and I talked about. Yeah, we talked about like a a five package at the top and then a seven and eight nine or eight nine pitch in the sevens or something. That's a possibility. Alex: Yeah, I mean that's that's something that I could have done. not that we wanted to get into gear today. But I mean, I had sevens for a long time and then I switched the Z forged and sevens and I still love them. Like even when I don't play, which I've been I send Jason some pictures of I went and practice yesterday and like my swing is it's getting back. it's it was feeling really good yesterday. Even after not really touching the clubs much, just those two days a week with the Colin now. Marcus: Yeah. Alex: But I mean the the five seven combo was an amazing combo to have. I I play I think it's I my four five four five six seven actually are s are the Z X sevens, Z X I sevens, so Jason: Mm-hmm. Yeah, I think it's your eighth or pitch you did the blade. Alex: Yes, I only have three plates in the bag. Jason: Yeah. I mean, we also I know Colin mentioned it in our cast a while back, and then just look at more research too, and then comparing them, the Muzuna fifteens and thirteens are in that same same window. But yeah, it's curious. So he's like, you know, these pros, like we said, why aren't instead of a ball rollback, why aren't they using more restricted clubs? You are a pro, so you should be limited. Like professional baseball players, it's a wood bat, right? You know, you are limited on X amount of components. Alex: And and the here's the deal: the the ball rollback isn't gonna help when they have courses that are stretching out like the newer courses. So we were talking about Fields Rance E East that we're playing on Tuesday. The from the tips that play 7,800 yards, 7,900 yards. And it in the wind and the elevation changes, because they have a lot of elevation changes at Fields Ranch, that course will play 820, 8300. So it's like Jason: Yeah, it's insane. Alex: You add that to the PJ Championship rotation, which it's always going to be in the rotation because it's the home of the PGA of America. You add that and you do a ball rollback. I mean, I meant to text you this yesterday when I was doing the simulation round out there. there's like three or four par fours that are five thirty plus. Like I was I would hit a, you know, anywhere from a two eighty to a three ten drive, and I still had two twenty into a green. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: I was like, what the fuck is going on? I thought it was like I thought I thought it was like a par five. Like I would get up there and I'd be like, okay, I'm gonna hit this close. I'm gonna be able to get on the screen in two. And then like I hit the ball and I missed the green. I'm like, cool, I'm gonna chip up, make a still get my par and the little icon at the top's like it gives you four numbers and you're like, shoot, this is a par four. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Jason: Yeah. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: I know I did a eighteen birdies preview from the PGATs and I'm looking, I'm like, geez Louise, this is insane. Alex: Yeah. i it's interesting. It it'll be it'll be fun. Marcus: Yeah. I think I think if I don't know, 'cause the equipment, I'm I'm just here kind of thinking if the equipment would be a lot to try to judge and like actually enforce the rules, especially someone like Bryson who's always tinkering, you know, a lot of guys on tour, I think they're there the solution is the ball rollback, but maybe take like a a Formula One solution. Where it's like you get these three balls. This is for fast, slow, whatever, but you already know they're flighted in a certain way. But you these are the three options for this week. And depending if it's a longer course or a shorter course, it's you know, you can you can kind of manipulate it that way. Alex: What? But why don't you just take the same instead of the ball, use a Formula One approach to the clubs? You can only y no, but you have you have parameters, right? You have you have parameters on where your center of gravity or mass can be. You have parameters on the length of the blade, because that's where some of that forgiveness comes in, like right, because your ZX5 is a longer club, has a bigger sweet spot to it. if you bring down Marcus: They all use the same ones. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Alex: The dimensions, both width and height. and then you change how much forgiveness you can do as far as like tungsten weighting. Like you can only have X amount of tungsten to make the club wider. Like if but you can give dimension and weight specifications that you have to hit, and it's gonna force them to stay in a range. It's gonna take a ton of RD, and that's no why no one wants to do it. It's it's gonna be a ton of RD from all of your clubs. Marcus: Uh-huh. Yep. Mm-hmm. Yeah. And and I mean Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. I was about to say Alex: But they're getting so much freaking money. Like, come on. The Tailor Maid and Titleist, they all have enough money for this. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: I mean, what is it? Rory? Even Shuffle? Like all of these guys now use max heads or standard. Pretty much nothing is like the tour head anymore. Like except in the drivers. Yeah. Alex: No, like it's actually shocking the it's actually shocking that Ryan Fox uses an L S ed. Jason: Yeah. I mean, I guess you know, it comes back to like even like all the science, like you know, spin rates, what's your speed, what benefits you the most. But be curious. But I know didn't the rollback kind of get sus suspended to or push back? Yeah, I'd be curious. But I I don't like the rollback affecting you and I because like I'm not really gonna see benefits, but if it is gonna cut back, what do they say ten to twenty percent? Alex: What's it yeah. It did. Yeah, it got pushed back. Yeah. Yeah. Fift it's it's said ten to fifteen percent. Jason: Is that the rate that they're looking? Okay. Like that's pretty significant. It Alex: Here's the deal. I'm I'm just gonna stock up on balls and three years three, four years after the rollback, like it's gonna be like prohibition times. I'm just gonna be selling at a golf course, like under you know, kind of on Hey, hey, I gotta s I gotta sleep here, come back to my truck. Jason: Yeah, right. Marcus: Yeah. You need a sleeve of Pro V One X's? yeah, Jason: Well, you know what's gonna happen. You Marcus: I got double digits, yeah. Jason: know what's Yeah. Yeah, I got a couple left dashes and a few left thoughts left. There'll be a hundred bucks a sleeve. Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. So much money. Jason: Dude, you know, they'll probably charge you more. Like, this is the last run. Come pick up. Provised to be like seventy five dollars a box. Alex: It's gonna be insane. I hope they don't do it. But no, it it was fun to watch. I was hoping Young was gonna pull it off, but it would also suck. Like I felt bad for him. You finished that early in the day and then like you saw him warming up three hours after his last swing. Like, damn. That's kind of tough to get back in the zone. Jason: Yeah. Okay. So granted it's the open, but would you have I mean, I kinda already know which way the answers are probably gonna lean because it is the open, but would you rather win it like Ryan Fox did on the putt or like Cam Young sit for four hours and then by the way, you are now the winner. Alex: I mean I'd rather just win it in general. I I don't really care how I win it. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: Well, Cam One was winning it until Marcus: Hmm. Alex: Yeah, like Jason: like the very Alex: yeah, I'd rather just win it. Like, okay, cool. I mean I don't care. Marcus: I would w I would rather win it or lose it than say it gets tied after four hours and then I have to go back out there and play another hole. 'Cause I think I'd be I'd be pretty cold by then. Or or drunk. I don't know. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: The the the honestly, the worst part. So you know, like when these guys win, it's like a whole like it's hours and hours of interviews and press conferences and ceremonies and all that stuff. Like the one thing that you want to do after you finish a golf round, especially when it's a little bit warmer, is go take a shower. So like it'd be great. It would be great to like it'd be great to win it. Yes. Yeah, so it'd be it'd be great to be in like camshoes and like know like on the last hole. Marcus: Mm. Yeah. Jason: my gosh, yes. I was thinking the same thing. These guys are like s gross. Alex: That he's up by whatever, three strokes. And he's like, Okay, unless he like somehow jars the next shot. I have ten minutes. I'm gonna go take a really quick shower, put on clean clothes. That way, like during the whole press conference thing, I can like not feel gross. But no, I mean I would just rather wouldn't. So it doesn't really matter. Just give me the check. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: Yeah. I mean it would be nice just to win it, but yeah, to sit there and wait and then announce you're the winner. But I guess it all just kinda unfolds how it unfolds. Alex: Well, I think that's the worst part is you sit there like that's three hours that he could have gone home and started packing and like I don't know if he flies maybe he could have gotten on a different plane and already headed home. Right. So Jason: Good point. Good point. but I will say though, with Fox's win, it's the first time a blade putter has won in six years at the open or something like that. And then also in general in the majors, it's like the first blade putter in a super long time. Yeah. I don't I can't remember it was a stat. I don't know if it was a stat for the open or the stat for just majors in general, but I mean he was using a blade putter and mounts have gotten all the press. Alex: wow. Marcus: He put her. Alex: You know Marcus: Feel like you're making that up, but I trust you. Alex: I think I think Jason is just trying to find a reason to justify why he's gonna use a blade putter on Tuesday because he was already texting me about that. He's like, are these greens fast? Well, I'm definitely gonna pull out the blade putter for this one. It's like Jason Jesus. Just a frickin' Hey, I'm gonna need you to get your stuff together because we're on a team for this one. Jason: Yeah. yeah. yeah. No, I'll probably I'm just gonna stick with the the one I've been using, the little center shafted one that I've been doing pretty decent with. Alex: Well, that's that's good 'cause I got a new putter, so Jason: No you didn't. And I was like, No, you didn't. Marcus: Yeah, it's like Alex: A year ago you a year ago you would have bit on that one. Jason: I know you wouldn't A year ago, yes, for sure. I would've been like, All right, he's getting another one. Alex: No, but the lab did just come out with a new butter. I s I saw a commercial for it. Jason: I think I told you about it. It it looks kinda like a s looks like a seven. Like the Odyssey seven's kinda like a geometric with an opening hole like cut out. Yeah, it actually doesn't look bad. Alex: Yeah, some like that, yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah, looks. I do know what I was gonna say. because y'all were y'all were talking about you're talking about the coverage. and coverage in general across all sports has just gotten ridiculous. Like there's so many freaking commercials and we're missing stuff because of so like even FIFA, I've read somewhere, like I think it was right after the game, the halftime from whistle to whistle was twenty four and a half minutes. And normal halftime for soccer is 10. So from whistle to whistle, you're probably closer to like 15 minutes by the time they get off the field, actually do their thing, get back on the field and all that fun stuff. So 10 extra minutes just because they wanted to run a concert essentially, a halftime show. And then like even the hydration breaks, that was just another chance for advertising. Like, we're the worst. We c commercialize everything. Like everything. Jason: Yeah. Marcus: I did the or I watched the hydration breaks on Telemundo, which they just put it like they the camera didn't leave, but it was just, hey, this is presented by Michelove or whatever and the camera stayed on the field and the announcers were still talking. But still Alex: Well, and and Jason: that's funny. Alex: golf golf does that too with the whole playing through thing where they'll just put it picture in picture. But it's like it's annoying because then like they get all mad. Like MLB has all of these pace of play, like a pitch clock and everything, which don't get me wrong, like I'm all for that because baseball games are slow. But it's like or or maybe just stop doing commercials. And we don't have to worry about pitching faster because you want to play five minutes of commercials in between innings. Marcus: okay. Jason: Mm-hmm. Yeah. I actually was kind of curious when I saw Cam Young talk about major league and the pace count or pitch count and the pace of play and the clock. He actually has a major league sponsor patch. And I was like, that's that's crazy. Alex: Mm-hmm. Yeah, he's sponsored by the MLB. I think he was a I think he was a big baseball player or something like that. Jason: Okay. 'Cause you normally don't see players sponsored by other major sports like that usually. That's impressive. Alex: Not like obviously not. Yeah. Yeah, he's a big baseball guy, I think. You know what's impressive? Shifting gears on you. World Cup. I'm not wearing my Spain stuff and I should be. But my La Roja I didn't wanna jinx it, man. I'm so glad we pushed the podcast off. Jason: Yeah. We didn't want to jinx it. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: 'Cause you would have been like, yeah, they're W Yeah. Alex: Mainly because Jason slept in. dude, no, I was not. Marcus: Yeah. Alex: I was not gonna be like, I honestly, all the way up through the game, like Argentina, I don't know how many stoppage goals they scored throughout the entire World Cup, but like it was constant. So I was like, there was no chance. Even when I was like, Okay, there's there's thirty seconds off. I'm like, they could still score. Like I'm not there's no celebrating. but best fact, Spain. Marcus: Yeah. It's stupid. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Alex: And you can clip it here. Spain is the gold standard of international football, women's world cup, current men's Euro champion, and current World Cup men's. They're hold they're holding three of the highest international trophies you can hold. Marcus: Which is wild. Yeah. Jason: That's actually impressive considering the US women's is always up there. Alex: Mm-hmm. Yeah, and it was it would have been funny. So if England, if England had won and played instead of Argentina, Spain beat England in the Euros back in twenty twenty four that they won. Right? No, twenty last year. I don't know. It might have been last year, two years, yeah, two years ago. So they would have so they would have been playing England again. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Jason: I think it w might have yeah. Marcus: Yeah. It was two years ago I think. Yeah, twenty four, twenty four. Alex: Just like the Euros. Spain women's team beat England in the last women's World Cup for the finals. So it's just funny how it's like it is a lot of the same types of teams. And then obviously France and I'm France and Argentina were in it last year. They were both in the semis this year. so there's just a lot of there were a lot of storylines. But honestly, the biggest, the biggest thing that stuck out to me, Spain had Marcus: Yeah. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: In seven seven games? Marcus: Mm, eight, I think now. Seven, eight, yeah, I think, yeah. Yep. Alex: Eight this was the eighth game. Eight games, one goal scored on them. Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: Which was wild. Yeah. Alex: That is crazy. That is wild. Jason: Yeah, that is very impressive. mu watching most of the game, like I said, until Miles said, you what, I'm it's just boring. Which it kind of was getting kind of boring. It just just like just kept going and Spain obviously was controlling the field the whole or sorry, the pitch, the whole game. but it is very impressive. And then I know the women's world cup I'm like I'm actually kinda looking forward to. Like you said, if Spain is that good on the w women's side. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: that'll be a fun setup. Alex: Well, and if I remember correctly, that Spanish team isn't losing much of their talent. most of those girls were pretty young as well. So I think they're gonna be tough. They're gonna be tough to beat. I mean, they they could be going on a US level run from when what early two thousands when we were pretty much just dominating every World Cup. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: Yeah, probably. Marcus: Yeah, this this men's Spain team is so young too. You got a bunch of players at nineteen years old that are I mean, they're stupid. They I mean, they're young. Yep. Jason: Yeah, they are young. Alex: Yeah, so two nine two nineteen year olds, Q Barcy and Leminamal. And then you had Gavi and Pedri, which are like twenty and twenty one or twenty one and twenty two, I think. Torres is only I think he's upper twenties. he's the one scored the game winner. Nico Williams is not old. I mean, Rod Rodri's really your old I think one of your oldest guys. Yeah. Marcus: Uh-huh. Yeah. Yeah, they're gonna be good for a while. Yeah, and he's the captain. I mean they're I mean it wouldn't surprise me that they'd be favorites for the next World Cup. Like there I don't think there's anyone that's that young and that talented, like coming up that can that can face Jason: Mm mm. Alex: And what so what I love about the women's game and i i it's just so technic like technical, like the women pass the ball a lot more. The Spanish game matches that. And that's why I think you know, obviously my my heritage is from Spain, so I I cheer from for that reason. But I love watching them play. They are the most technical team. And I said that from the first game, I was like, they may or may not win, but they are the most technical sound team, like They have a bunch of great players, but they will possess the ball, they will pass the ball, they'll look for opportunities. As long as they can weather the storms of the firepower of the Frances and the Argentinas of the world, they can win any time. But it also only takes one shot from Messi to tie the game up. And now it's you know, it's just so you gotta you gotta you just gotta weather the storm of the firepower. Marcus: Mm. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Jason: Well, Well, you know, it's just funny, the announcers were talking about it and I've known this true about Messi for ages. And you know, Spain's coming in, they're controlling everything, they're on their side of the field, taking shots after shots, and the announcers talking about it's like, Well, Argentina is typically playing a ten man defense because they're like, We know Messi never gets back. Alex: Yeah, they literally said that they were like, Well, Messi, it was l Alexi Lawless that said that he was like, Well, Messi doesn't play defense anyway, so they're used to playing. And then in if you heard, you turned it off because of Miles. I'm mad at Miles. if you heard at I think it was either in overtime or stoppage time, they made a comment that they were like, Well, I mean, Messi's pretty much like two players anyway, so they're still playing what it's eleven v eleven. I was like, What you you got one guy sitting here? Jason: Yeah. Mm. Marcus: They didn't say that on Telemundo Alex: Like I was like I was like, what are you talking about? Like he's amazing. You're you're he's a he's the goat, but Marcus: Yeah. God Alex: if you can't get him the ball, then he's not he's useless. And that showed today they couldn't get him the ball. Jason: Well, and it's like he also didn't work hard for the ball. Like he's kind of like the laziest guy out there, except when he gets the ball, then he turns it on. Marcus: I wouldn't I wouldn't Alex: Yeah. Marcus: say that because Holland, yeah. Like Holland he Yeah, he doesn't mm. Holland is the same way, like from Norway. He's he's just kinda walking around waiting for that moment and then once the moment gets there he's he shows up. Alex: I think he's strategic in his movement. Jason: I I I mean I will agree that he like he waits and he tries to pick his moments. Alex: Yeah. Yeah, he's very t they're very tactical in when they move and moving to open space. And don't get me wrong, like Messi is also thirty nine years old. So I'm sure there's a a level of in intensity that plays into it. But yeah, it's tough. Marcus: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Part of it, yeah. That that goalie for Argentina, that dude was on another level. I mean, there's it it should have been like three to zero, four to zero. Like there was no way he got some balls that I thought they were for sure going in. Alex: That shot from Lamine was impressive. That shot from Q Barcy, it that it it w there are a handful that I was like T Soft's like we're just not gonna score on him. This is one of those games where you're gonna have all the possession, all the shots. They're gonna take one shot, one goal, and win the game. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: Yeah. Marcus: Yep. I and I mean you've played the competitive soccer. How many times have you been on the wrong end of that where you're just like you've been attacking, you know you have it dominated, and then it gets to the last minute, and then they get a corner kick and they header and you're done. Jason: Just one lucky ball. Alex: Mm-hmm. It it's just so so two two stories on this, or two anecdotes there. It's annoying because when you have possession and when you're like beating and winning a game, like technically you're the best and all, but you can't score, then they score. It's like it goes one of two ways when that when that goal goes in. If you finally break through, the other team is demoralized because they're like, Well, it was it was just a matter of time. They wore us down, they had the ball the whole time. It was gonna happen. But then if they're the ones that score, you're like. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Alex: We have done everything we can to score, and we can't score, and they are beating us. So it's like that first goal shifts all momentum. And I know that's that's stupid to say because everyone knows that, but it it truly is like I was glad we scored. But no, we Mark also know this just because he played in club sports, club soccer in Dallas. So I think it was the Memorial Day Cup. If you win that, you get a bid to the Dallas Cup. This was back what? Marcus: Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Alex: I mean, obviously 15, 20 years ago now. this is when we were seniors, actually 18 years ago. we were in the finals of the Memorial Day Cup and we had pretty much dominated this whole game. We were up 1-0. They scored right before, so we ended up going into extra time. And this kid on a corner kick pulls off a bicycle from the 18-yard line and puts it upper 90 on the back post. And we're like, what the fuck? Marcus: Mm-hmm. Alex: And and the more frustrating part was this team was already qualified for the Dallas Cup because they were the champion of the Classic League. So they had already got their buy into the Dallas Cup, and all of us were like, none of us had played in the Dallas Cup, we wanted to. And we were we were l ten minutes away. And they just came back, scored, went extra time, and they scored again. You're like, God dang it. Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Jason: It it's funny. It's just like when I coached it with the girls and stuff and the head coach said the goals typically happen within the first five minutes of the game, first like five minutes after a goal has been scored, or right at the beginning of the half. Like it's just there's moments where they just happen to go and go rapid fire. But yeah, I mean, there's years ago I I definitely had a girl student was way more superior, controlled it, like Alex: Yeah. Jason: Kind of like today, it was always on our side. We were always attacking. I don't even know how many shots on goal we had, just sailed left, sailed right, over into the goal. And then they got one breakaway and it just broke down and they got in. And it was just like, you gotta be kidding me. We played a much better game and got deflated instantly. Alex: Yeah. Soccer is one of the biggest like momentum sports. Like it could go it's funny. I mean, hockey, lacrosse, they're all like in shooting all those lacrosse games, like I'd obviously listen to the coach and he would tell the kids he's like, Look, we're gonna go on runs, they're gonna go on runs. Like if they go on a run of four goals, like it's fine. Just keep your head down. We're gonna go on a run of four goals right after. And it it's true. Like it was it's crazy. I was looking this up. So Marcus: Mm. Mm-hmm. Alex: Argentina scored four goals in stoppage or extra time across the whole tournament. Egypt, Switzerland, and England. Marcus: Stupid. Jason: Yeah, they had the mo I s the announcers said that they had like at the most for the tournament and they're supposed to talk about their goalie. He's kind of set a record by having the most saves within like the first half or something like that. Something crazy. Or entire game 'cause it went extra yeah. Alex: Well, in in the entire game, like Marcus: He had eleven saves in that Alex: he had yeah. Marcus: last game, which is Alex: Well and Unay Simon, Spain's goalie one got the golden glove, well deserved, but two set a record with seven shutouts. Marcus: Mm hmm. Which he didn't have any saves today. So not on the sheet. No saves. Nope no shots on goal. Yeah. Zero saves. Yeah. That's yeah. Jason: Gosh. Yeah, the yeah, I mean Yeah, you get that. Yeah, no saves, no shots on goal. Alex: No, he didn't have one. That's crazy. Yeah, zero saves and got a sh got a shutout today. Jason: That's messed up. Speaking of goals though, I did want to kind of just I didn't watch it 'cause it was just the third place game, but six to four. Like what the hell? Alex: Yeah, it's Marcus: Yeah. Alex: No, what's bigger than six to four is that they even came back and made it competitive. The halftime was four zero. We were so we were at my we were at a a friend of ours house, some of the baseball parents, they did a little party. So we were over there watching it and like we all zoned out because we had it on. We were like, it's four zero at halftime. Like we're gonna go. And the next thing we know is like one goal, one goal, one goal, one goal. Like it was crazy. It was like it was ridiculous. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: Like what I I was just like how I the it's like did the goalies just not show up or they're just like, you know what, we need to give something exciting and just give it a go. Marcus: They go on runs. Alex: They okay, so this is a good debate. Should goals scored in the third place game count towards the golden boot? Jason: Well, isn't it just towards the whole World Cup though? Marcus: I I would s y Yeah. Yeah. Alex: No, y you're correct, but everyone else that gets eliminated gets eliminated. They don't get another chance to score. So you're you're eliminated. You're just playing another game because I'm sure there's prize money associated for the net the team that wins the third place. So like I get why they play a third case, but Mbappe would not have gotten the golden boot because he's he scored two goals yesterday. And had Binky beat Messi by one. Messi had to scored three goals. Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. Jason: If they didn't play that game. Marcus: Mm-hmm. So messing near to score. Yeah. Yeah. No. Yeah. Yeah. Alex: so I guess they would have been tied for the golden boot if if he hadn't scored. Messi had scored three goals today to win it. Jason: That's a good point. I didn't actually to be honest, I didn't even know they played a third place game. So to your point, if it's just they got eliminated, then yeah, I don't know. I don't think it should count. Marcus: Yeah. Alex: That's kind of my that's kind of my position. Like if you get eliminated, like cool, go play it for the sake of getting money for your national team, or whatever, but it it shouldn't count towards your golden boot or towards your stat. Marcus: Yeah. I say they don't play it. Jason: Yeah, you're done. Go home. Alex: I couldn't. Marcus: Yeah, go home. Imagine imagine you got you're at a AFC championship game and the loser has to play the loser of the NFC championship game. I'd be so mad. Yeah, exactly. Jason: Yeah. Alex: Mm-hmm. Jason: Ha ha ha. Alex: Dude, don't don't Jason: But your stats, like you hit 400 and five home runs. Now you're like a postseason hero. Alex: Don't give them any more reason to have another game. Well, they're of course they're gonna play a third place game. They would play fifth place game if people would watch it, because you know how much money? Dude, okay. We talked about this in the podcast already, but America has shown FIFA that they can get rich playing the FIFA World Cup here. The cheapest ticket for Spain versus France here in Dallas was like $2,000. Marcus: Ideas. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Alex: In the four hundred level seats at ATT. Like you might as well just go watch it from home if that's the case, because all you're gonna be doing is watching that big ass screen. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: Yeah. Marcus: Yeah. Alex: So it's like, yeah, so I Marcus: I thought about it, and then that was it. Jason: Yeah. Alex: mean, just do the do the simple math on that. $2,000 and you have an $85,000 seat, and you're that's the minimum. So let's say your average is probably closer to $3,500 for grand a ticket and at at 80,000 seats. I mean, that's one game. Of course they're gonna freaking keep playing the third place game because they sold out that stadium too. Marcus: That's the minimum. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I should've checked on tickets 'cause I was in Miami, I think. Should've checked how much tickets were over there, like third place game. Jason: Well, I mean, beer sales were up fourteen percent. Alex: that yeah, no, that's a good point. You're not even factoring in all of the what the stadiums were making. But I mean, that I would love to know how much money they made over the course of the last forty five days. So eighty five thousand individuals at four thousand a ticket, which some people bought it prior to. So this is a very skewed number. But four thousand times eighty five thousand is three hundred and forty million dollars. Marcus: Yeah. That doesn't even take into account any of the parking, food, hotel, flight. Alex: Parking, food and beverage, apparel, hotel. Like just you're just looking at what FIFA made out of this. I mean, you're making two hundred, three hundred, four hundred million a game. Like they're I'd be shocked if they don't try to get it back here within for whatever the next one that we're available to bid on. Marcus: Yeah. I think it's twenty thirty eight and there's like some rule that it can't go back to the same continent until after twelve years or something. But so next year or in four years it'll be Spain, Portugal, and then they're gonna have some down south because it's like the hundredth year of the World Cup. Alex: Yeah, I saw that. They're gonna have some in Uruguay 'cause the very first championship was played in Uruguay. So they're gonna have it at that stadium. Jason: Yes, I saw something. Marcus: Yeah. Uh-huh. Yeah. So they'll have some there. Yeah. So those two continents are out, and then they're gonna have one in Saudi Arabia after that. so that counts as Asia technically. and so then that would be tw Yeah. Alex: So that would leave Africa. No, I thought they were playing some games in Morocco, which is Africa. Yeah. So they're not gonna they're knocking off three continents in one World Cup. Marcus: Yes, and Morocco. And so yeah, so yeah. So that checks off Africa. Yeah, in one. Yeah. Unless they redo the rules. But I I think after how successful this has been, I mean, I'm calling it a success just because I mean it was so much hype between a a country that and let's be honest, like the US isn't really that driven by soccer, but they what the US is good for is hospitality and like letting other people enjoy their country. Alex: Dude it Marcus: which everyone wanted to come over here. Yeah, yeah. Alex: Well, they're driven by sport too. We we America loves sports. And even if like we aren't in it, like people just love sports here. Like we will watch I think we for we we freaking have ESP ate the Ocho with cornhole. Like we'll watch anything with competition. Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Alex: But we have the infrastructure. We have the stadiums. Cause if you think about it, the I I I'm a guest, 10 stadiums that they used across the nation. Those are all pro stadiums. We didn't even touch the big house in Michigan. You have Ohio State Stadium. Like you have all these other stadiums that we could like we didn't need Mexico or Canada. We could have hosted everything here if we really wanted to. I mean sh. Marcus: Yeah. Mm hmm. Mm-hmm. And Alex: Texas alone Marcus: you didn't even Alex: could host the World Cup with the amount of big stadiums we have. Cause you got you got Houston, Dallas, Kyle Field, UT Stadium, Texas Tech, like you have TCU, SMU small, but you could still play at SMU. Like, there's enough like stadiums in the South that you could host and be perfectly fine. Marcus: I think they can yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. T uhhuh. TCU. TCU is pretty big, yeah. Mm. Jason: Yeah, definitely. so I just while you guys were chatting, I looked it up. So these are all just projections. And it says the US has got a GDP approximately seventeen billion dollars with the overall global around thirty. Marcus: Half of the world's money. Jason: But yeah, Marks, you're right. Like we saw it on TikTok and everything, how well the the fans and the visitors loved our infrastructure. Marcus: Well, even the players from like other countries, they're like, we didn't know y'all had this Like like these stadiums that they and they didn't even touch, you know, Allegiant Stadium, which is in Las Vegas, which I think was a I don't know if it was a big miss, but I mean, shoot, you you tell you know, someone from not this country to go to Vegas and then by the way your team is playing, I mean, that'd be stupid. Jason: Mm-hmm. Yeah. my gosh. Yeah, they missed the boat on that one. But yeah, it's just funny how much like like our hospitality and things that we can provide that it just it is a benefit to for the US to host compared to other countries. Alex: So the tournament revenue is estimated to be at eleven billion, which is fifty six percent increase from Qatar or Qatar, however you want to pronounce it, in twenty twenty two. Marcus: Yeah, what are you gonna do in Qatar? Jason: Well inflation. Marcus: Yeah. Alex: Yeah, not not not that much inflation. Marcus: Are you playing sand dunes? What we doing? Yeah. Jason: man. Alex: Yes, sponsorship exceeded two point eight billion. broadcast right surpassed four point two billion for the first time ever. Match day marketing revenue went up two hundred and sixteen percent. Twenty twenty six is estimated to hit three billion in match day revenue versus nine hundred and fifty million. Marcus: Stupid. Alex: So I mean they're gonna have to come back here pretty fast. If I'm FIFA, I'm like, dude, we're we're leaving three billion on the table every time we don't host in America. Like we're stupid. Marcus: Yeah. Like the next one in Spain will be cool. The next one in Spain will be cool. But like Saudi Arabia, I don't know. I'm okay. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: I agree. The the okay, the the best part about Jason: Yeah. Alex: the best part about them hosting in Spain, like Spain just won. It's gonna be crazy hosting in Spain. Marcus: yeah. Yeah. I mean I'm I'm telling you, I'm not I'm I'm thinking that they're they they gotta be the favorites for the next one. I mean they're just too young. Yeah. Yeah. Jason: insane. Try to defend in your home country. Alex: yeah, you're you're playing you're playing on home turf. You have a young I'd be shocked if you don't have the same starting eleven. Again, Rodery might be the only one. So you're gonna have anywhere from eight to ten of the same starters. Mike. Marcus: Yeah. And they probably had the toughest route to get there too, just seeing the teams that they knocked out. I mean Alex: I mean, Kate Verde alone, I mean did did y'all Marcus: Yeah. Hey, Argentina and Cat Verde did not beat in ninety minutes, all right? Alex: Did you did you well? Marcus: In ninety minutes. Yeah. Alex: Yes, Cape Verde, the fun stat. Cape Verde is the only team that did not technically lose in the World Cup outside of Spain. Which I love that stat. It's like, no, you lost. It's but they don't count extra time as losing. Marcus: Yes. Yeah. No, yeah. Yeah. Alex: Yeah, it's yeah, Spain will be a lot of fun. I feel like I feel like I need to plan to be in Spain for the World Cup in two years or four years. I can't do my math. Marcus: Yeah, I'll be good. Yeah, I'm I'm excited for I know you asked me or you didn't ask me, but for at least Mexico's because usually they're I know, but I'm gonna tell you anyway, because I think the US hawker and Mexico have a similar problem. which so every yeah so Jason: We didn't ask. Alex: Wait to see where this goes. Jason: Yeah. US sucks. Okay, so Marcus: Every every time I've been hearing, you know, like, hey, you know, we need academies and this and that. So Mexico does have those academies like to do the players. Where they get it wrong is they do not let their players go to Europe because of fees and this and that. So they they hold on to them playing in Mexico. but now that they have a pretty young squad. right now. So they have like a 17 year old playing and a bunch of twenty, twenty one year olds. So with you know one of the greatest of all time in Mexican soccer with Rafa Marquez gonna be the coach, I think it's gonna be I'm already over hype in Mexico for the next World Cup. So this is just me being delusional again. Alex: Well, no, but y you you bring up something that I said to Casey earlier and I want to fact check myself before I get too far down that loop. Spain is very similar in that a lot of the Spanish players play in Spain. So Marcus: Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Alex: They have Marcus: I think most of Barcelona's squad is Spain. If I if I'm eight, yeah. And I think their starting defender was on the bench. Alex: there's a eight, eight players for Barcelona. And all all but all but two of them played in the game. So so six of the eight played. and all I think two of them subbed in. So I mean they had four or five starters. so and this math isn't totally right. This is a little bit wrong. so on the Spanish team, 26 man team, 17 play in La Liga. What's it? Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. Alex: And it's wrong. Even this fact is wrong though, because it has Mark Ucarea on Chelsea and he's not on Chelsea. he's on Real Madrid. I don't know if but i I don't know how all that lone stuff works. Marcus: Hm. Yeah. So Yeah, I just 'cause they were talking about 'cause I I'm talking about like Mexico's youngest player and he's seventeen. It's like, dude, s send his ass over to Europe. Like go play in the you know, in La Liga or or or were the Premier League and get those reps in. Jason: Mm-hmm. Alex: Let's see. I disagree. I disagree. Okay. And this is my theory. This is where I was going with that. Spain plays very similar to how the Spanish club teams play. Like if you watch them, they're all very technical, possession, pass. Like the amount of passes they do is insane. Whereas, like you go watch the Premier League, and it's definitely a lot more of that kind of run and gun physical. I mean, look at look at Holland, right? Like you when you have guys like him and Kane and Marcus: Mm. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Alex: you know, Ronaldo played at Manu for for how long before he went to what's it called? I mean Thierry Henry that play there like that's just been their style. It's it's fast, it's physical. Spain's a lot more technical. So I think Spain does so well with their players because 17 of the players play in La Liga. So they're used to that. I think if you get too many of your guys going and playing elsewhere, they get used to a different type of play. And how does that adapt to so you send What's this guy's name? Rafa. no, the your young player, Mora. So you so you send Mora to the EPL and he gets accustomed to a different style of play, then he goes back and plays for a national team. Is he gonna do well? I don't know. Because it's a different type of soccer. So I think sometimes it makes sense like to keep it in-house because that way you play very similar and your players are a lot more cohesive. Marcus: yeah, yeah, the the coach. Mora. Hilberto Mora, yeah. Jason: The kid. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Well, I mean, it's like what I was saying is kind of more of the Argentina blueprint because they start off with their Argentina clubs and then you'll have people in Chelsea, you'll have people in Barcelona and and and and Italy. So that's kind of my main thought process behind it is like you you just need to expose your players, like if you want to be better, like Rafa Marquez, he's he's gonna be the coach, but he was, you know, Barcelona's defender for, you know, four or five years. Alex: Mm-hmm. Yeah. Jason: Mm-hmm. Marcus: back in the early two thousands. So I just need those those guys to get a little bit more exposed. Jason: I mean, it makes sense. I mean, I would agree with you know, having your players go play different styles because you could still bring your style and you could still understand your game like your the Mexican style or the Spain style. But if you understand how the other teams play, you can position and obviously defend and st strategize to help kind of combat that. I mean, I would agree that The experience make you more rounded, make you more skilled, make you more versatile. it's kinda like I mean, we talk you know, with golf, like we got the US guys who mostly play in the US, they do well in the US, but when they go play Europe, Europe European style golf, we get killed. Like it obviously the open's a little bit different, but the Ryder Cup, right? You know, we're when it goes to Europe venues, we struggle 'cause Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: Part of it team chemistry obviously is a huge part, but I think they just don't know how to understand to play those courses that those conditions as well. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Yeah, but I mean you you can tell, sorry, the cohesiveness with with Spain though. I mean they just completely dominate I don't think there was one game in this World Cup that th they didn't dominate, except for Cabo Verde, I guess. Yeah. Alex: Yeah, no, I Jason: It they were just warming up. Alex: No but in fair n in fairness though, they dominated that game too. Look how many saves Vizinha had in that game. That's why he like hit fame immediately. Because he Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I think he was gonna go play with Miami or enter Miami after this league. Yeah. Yeah. No. Jason: He might. Alex: I did hear a rumor. I did hear a rumor that they were they were gonna sign him, which would be awesome for a guy like that. I mean, he would never have that chance otherwise. But no, so I mean, look, let's just we'll end the soccer top with the fact that I'm riding a high. I mean, I get like American and US, whatever. Let's just move off that. Like they're never gonna win. So I Spain's my Spain is Spain's my team. national, international dominance from the men's and women's. Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. Jason: They're they're never gonna win. Alex: Barcel won La Liga two back to back years. Like I'm I am on a high. My sp my Spanish teams are great. Like I'm re I'm ready for four years from now. Jason: Mm. There you go. Alex: All right, gents. what else we got? got a semi-busy week. my my work talk. we have a huge presentation, like biggest project we've ever bid on Thursday. Conveniently, my boss is out of the country for two weeks starting yesterday. So Marcus: Yeah. Alex: And the owner of the company is out until Wednesday afternoon. So I'm prepping the team myself and having to lead this. I'm like, this is awesome. Like Jason: Wait, was this the presentation that was supposed to happen last week? Or is this a different okay. Alex: No, we had one last week too. No, we got we got an email. We had put this bid in a month ago and they finally reached back out to us and like, hey, we're gonna bring in some of the contractors to do a presentation. I would I wish it was the last one. The last one was 30 minutes and it was easy. This one is 90 minutes. And it's like there's 15 panelists that we have to go do a presentation for. It's at a facility that I've never even like worked at. So I'm like, It this whole thing is just a frickin' nightmare. And I'm having to lead the charge. So like tomorrow I have to put all the presentation together after my boss put should have put most of it together before he left. So I gotta make final tweaks and then I have to pretty much run the team through dry runs all Tuesday and all Wednesday just to be prepared for Thursday. Jason: Mm-hmm. Yeah, you'll be fine. Alex: Sure. So so this will this all believe. Yeah. Well Ted Lasso. This will be an interesting week. be an interesting week for for our house, but other than that, Marcus: Believe in you. Jason: Believe you gotta believe in yourself. Marcus: Yeah, believe. Jason: Is your AC fixed yet? my god. Marcus: Has all you been downstairs? Jason: Your kids are gonna be suffering for the next two weeks. And this week is gonna be the worst week, I think, ever. Alex: Yeah. No, I've I've I've been fighting with home warranty. I got on a call with them my entire drive home on Friday, escalated it to the escalation team. And they were like, Well, we're gonna talk to our manager. Cause I asked for a second quote and they're like, Well, we asked them, I No, you haven't asked them because I called that contractor and they said that you haven't asked them. So at this point I'm doing your job for you. I want to talk to the manager. They're like, Well, let me talk to the authorization team. Well, the authorization team is reviewing it. I like, Cool. How long do they need to review it? Because you've been reviewing it for four days now when I called originally and asked you for the second quote. So like I'm a little confused. Well, let me put a ticket into our manager. Okay. I'll stay on the phone, just like, put me on hold. well, it takes twenty four hours to process a ticket to the manager. So they'll call you in twenty four hours. It's like, Cool, cool. And y'all haven't called me yet. Forty eight hours later. So I'm gonna call them tomorrow and yell at them and tell this is getting ridiculous. So that's I've already reported the count contractor to the Texas Department of Regulations because of their their lack of transparent pricing and diligence. So Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. Like, I know people, all right. Jason: People. I'm in the business. Alex: Like I I'm like look, I'm actually a really nice person to work with for the most part. Like I don't like I don't nitpick, like I get it. Let's just get it done. My biggest thing is when you think that you know more. Like when I just don't like the line because the contractor was like, Well, that's a flat rate agree negotiated with American Home Shield. So I call American Home Shield. It's like, Hey, like this is what they're saying. They're like, Well, you need to talk to them about that. I was like, they're telling me to talk to you about it. Jason: Mm. Alex: No, like if there's a dispute, we need to talk to them about it. We didn't agree to any pricing. I was like, Okay. So it's like that's why I reported them to TDLR about because I was like, You can't say this is a pre negotiated if it's not pre negotiated. Like it's just not Jason: Ha ha ha. my gosh. it's only gonna be a hundred and hundred and four, hundred and five, hundred and two this week. Alex: Well well luckily Grayson is with his dad in Florida and Trip is at his mom's. So luckily we don't we don't need the upstairs right now, but the upstairs is ninety five degrees. So I had to go, I had to Jason: There you go. Marcus: my god. Jason: Dude, that electric bill is gonna be insane to just bring it back to eighty. Alex: I I had to go up there. Well, I'll leave it off until like I'll tell the guy when he fixes it. Like like, no, leave it off. I'm gonna turn it on at like ten ten o'clock at night when it's starting to cool down and then it'll catch up real fast. Yeah. I want you to fix it, but actually we don't need it for another few months. no, not fixed yet. So that's on the list of things to take care of. so and baseball kicks up in like another Jason: I'm gonna leave it off till October. Marcus: Yeah. Jason: my gosh. man. Alex: week, I think week after next. So we're we're getting to the thick of it already. is what it is. Jason: No, I've I've been pretty lazy. This is probably the laziest summer I've had in years. We've been back gosh, I can't believe we've been back two weeks from our trip. I've barely did any editing. So I need to get back on that bandwagon and crank that out. This is my last full week without Miles daycare. Next week we have him back and still got I got tryouts next week. Then the week after we're back in school. So it's like I it's getting out of crunch time. It's kinda on me. I could have knocked out these last couple of weddings over the last two weeks, but I was like I sat on my ass. I was like, I didn't do anything. In the last two days I couldn't do anything. My body was just like not right. Marcus: Yeah. Alex: Some awesome. Sometimes you need that. I it was convenient. Colin and I like said we work out, right? And I texted him Wednesday night. I was I was beat. My body was done. Like it had been a couple long nights. I shot that rodeo Tuesday night, had to wake up early, be back at work Wednesday, and then obviously with this presentation, the other presentation, like it's just been busy. And I ended up having to help Casey with the kids on Thursday morning anyway. So I wasn't able to work out, but I was like, thank God. Because like I don't know that I could wake up and go work out. Like there's a big difference between going to bed at 10 and waking up at four and going to bed at 10 and waking up at or even going to bed at midnight and waking up at six. Like it's just that four o'clock is hard. It's hard on your body. And Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: Yeah, it's rough. I've done I did that for like ten years and this last year and a half with miles, I I've fallen off of it and then it's like it felt good. I can wake up at five, six, and I've just gotten used to it. So but I need to get back to it 'cause that's the only time I can work out is early. Alex: It yeah. And it it can be the same amount of sleep that you're normally getting, but that four is hard. And so anyway, I I couldn't, but I woke up and worked out yesterday and hit some balls so I made up my workout anyways. But but yeah, it it's tough. It's it's hard to hard to stay with it. So all right, gents. Well what else do we have? We only had two things on the agenda today. It was Jason: Yeah. Yeah. Alex: All s all sports, world cup and open championship. Marcus: I do have a snorhack, I guess. I don't know. I I think I told you guys about it. Alex: Mout mouth tape. Jason: Yeah. Yeah. I kinda wanna hear this. Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. No, a hundred percent mouth tape. So it's and and I tried it, all right. I tried it. We were I I was we were listening, I think it was a Theo Vaughn, they had a breathing coach on there. So it was just kinda take and also I realized I was not breathing right, like I don't know, forever. So yeah, don't wanna get into that part, but Alex: I was I was totally just guessing. Marcus: It was this guy on just how saying just how you just getting your normal breasts will get your brain functioning right. and he said, I I do this even when I'm traveling alone without the wife. It is this micro pore 3M surgical tape where you just kind of take a little piece and just over your mouth closed, and you go to sleep with it, and the whole thing is to just make you breathe through your nose. So like He was going on of just saying, like, you know, if a lot of times people don't really need the CPAP, it's more of try these items before going to that extreme. which that tape, I think while we were listening, 'cause I told Blake, Hey, listen to this, and she ordered it on Amazon. We got it sent to Florida when we were there, and so I tried it and I said, Hey, how was the snoring last night? He's like, It was great. I didn't even hear anything. It's like, Okay, cool. So I've been sleeping with this tape here for two weeks. Last night, I or yesterday, didn't have like a didn't have a workout day. I ate normal, normal time, went to bed at a normal time, and I didn't put on the tape. I woke up this morning, I felt like shit. Like felt terrible. I look at my whoop, I recovered like 60%, which the other days at Maybe I went to bed a little later. My recovery was like at ninety percent. And it's just because of me hitting my actual sleep cycle and getting the proper rest just with the mouth tape. Which I didn't believe it at first, but I I I I don't know. Blake seems happier. She's not waking me up in the middle of the night that I'm snoring or whatever. Yeah, exactly. Alex: Huh. Interesting. Marcus: Yeah, so I can send you guys that link. 'cause it's like the surgical tape. I mean you get a box of like twelve for like ten dollars or something. but yeah, it's just Alex: Does that not pull your hair when you take it off? Marcus: No, I mean I put it like right at the lip right here and it's enough to kind of keep it shut. So and you can still like you can still talk with it like with your lips close to it. You can still talk and breathe and do whatever you need to do. but yeah, no, it was it's been great. Life's been great here the last week, two weeks. Alex: Might have to try that. Marcus: Yeah. I think our brother's on Alex: Home homeboy's definitely muted and he doesn't realize it. He we just let him keep going. Marcus: Yeah, you're muted. Yeah, Jason: sorry. Miles is screaming. Marcus: yeah, yeah. You're pointing at your nose though. Jason: no, I was I was like pointing my nose is like the my storying usually is attributed to because I'm super congested. So like how does the mouth tape like if I'm here and I'm I can't breathe well with my mouth and I can't breathe through my nose, like that's gonna Yeah, that's gonna be a tough yeah, that's gonna be a tough one. Marcus: Yeah. fix your congestion. Yeah. You gotta fix your congestion first. Cause I was congested. Alex: Mm-hmm. Marcus: Yeah, I I I was congested on on one night. She's Yeah, you did snore a little bit more, but it wasn't as bad as it normally is. So I just know to take a couple of decongestions during the day and it'll clear it up. And yeah. I didn't I'm telling you guys, I didn't believe it, but it works. And there's a couple other people. My wife was telling like some of her girlfriends and Jason: Yeah. Yeah. Marcus: She they already knew about the mouth tape, it was like, yeah, we do that just just because that's how we recover. Jason: Okay. So why is it always the guy that snores? You know, Shelby's always kicking me, like pushing me, like, dude, you're snoring, you're snoring, and wake and I'm dude, and there's times where she's pushed me, kicked me up. I'm like, dude, it's not me. I've been awake. And so and I'm like, maybe it's I'm like, maybe it's you waking yourself from a story or it's the dogs. But then we've had those arguments, like getting in little like middle of the night fits, and then I'm just like Marcus: Well stop breathing hard. Alex: No way. Jason: I'm like, you snore too and you wake me up. She's like, no, I don't. I go, bullshit. I've got I've literally recorded her. I go, that's how that's our that's how we deter our snoring. Marcus: See, that's how you start fights. Yeah. It doesn't help. Alex: Yeah, just you just gotta you just you just gotta take the L on that one, Jason. You can't you can't record her. She'll just lie. It it's a she'll deny it. Marcus: Yeah. Yeah. Jason: it's hilarious. She loves it though. It's funny. We go back and forth, but yeah, it's she laughs at it. We all laugh we have a big laugh. But yeah, the congestion's a bad one for me though. Alex: Mm-hmm. Marcus: She loves it. Alex: She loves she loves when I tell her she snores. That's funny. Well, if I start snoring again I'll I'll get into the mouth tape. Marcus: Yeah. I'm telling you, look it up if you guys don't believe me. Alex: I've speaking of health stuff, realized that I had dry eyes, didn't know for the longest time. So now I have to do eye drops like five times a day. So that's great. Marcus: Like prescription eye drops or just regular okay. Alex: It's over the counter, but it's like it's some like they have f they have like fish oil in them. Yeah, the guy was like, You need to use like he said four. It was like four times a day for the next like two weeks. And then it from after that, the doctor he was like, Yeah, your eyes are like fr yeah. He's like, Your eyes are like really dry. So it's like, take omega three and then I have eye drops that also have omega three in them to help like get them lubricated again just so that I can Jason: Five times. Marcus: Who told you this? The the eye doctor? Okay. Jason: Wow. What Marcus: Hey. Jason: what cause to have you s have severe Alex: I don't know. I don't know. I just told him I was I just told him I was having a lot of headaches and a lot of like light sensitivity. Like if someone walks into my office and like I've tried to focus on them, I struggle with it because like I'm looking up and like the light is shining. and he was like, Yeah, it's your eyes are really dry and that's what's gonna cause a lot of that. I was like, Marcus: Yeah, old age. Mm. Jason: Wow. I mean I gosh, I went what, about a month ago, normal checkup and they said my eyes are a little dry and smells 'cause of allergies. And they're like, Ashley, avoid the allergy drops because the allergy drops are vasoconstrictors. The yeah, dehydrate really cause Ashley more issues. And then they're like, Hey, do you ever experience why eye drops stopped working? And I was like, Yeah, 'cause you've over desensitized them and so Alex: They dehydrate. Mm-hmm. Jason: I just when I f my eyes feel bad, they just say just use a basic like moisturizing eye drop. Nothing special, but it actually makes a big difference. Alex: Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's you just don't realize that you're getting old and then you're like, I'm old and I have to start actually doing stuff. So Marcus: Yeah. Jason: Yeah. Alex: Alright boys. Jason: welcome to the club. Alex: yeah. Well, as always, guys, good time. Glad Spain won. I'll be on a high for the next week. other than that, I got Nada. Everyone, you you know where to find us every Wednesday morning, YouTube, Amazon, Spotify, and Apple. Everything will be linked in show notes. that's all I got, guys. Marcus: Mm-hmm. Jason: All right. Yep. Have a good night. Marcus: All right. See ya. Alex: See. See you next week.
