- 6:28be there, Larry Hancock is going to be there. A plethora of other
- 6:34awesome researchers and dudes and ladies in general are going to be there. So
- 6:43if you haven't yet booked your flight, if your flights are full and you
- 6:46can't get on a flight, you better get your ass to the Greyhouse station
- 6:50and get you a bus, all right. Or if you if you have
- 6:57a lot of money and you really don't care how much you been, I
- 7:00mean, hell, just uber to Dallas from like Denver, you know,
- 7:05be like Sylvester s alone. Just hand the guy a big wad of money
- 7:09and say sit here and wait for you. You're my driver, now,
- 7:13you know type of thing. So all right, that's enough of that,
- 7:17enough of all, enough of the shenanigans. Let's get right down to business,
- 7:24all right. I came across a good bit of witness statements that I
- 7:32had previously. I won't say never, I'll say don't remember seeing. I
- 7:43see a lot and it's hard to remember everything, but certain things would stand
- 7:50out to me had I read them before. So a lot of these people
- 7:55that were going to be talking about today you might never even have even heard
- 7:58of before. Talking about eyewitness testimony, and we've talked at length on the
- 8:05show too, before we get in, this is my witness testimony. I
- 8:11got one thing I did find. You know, we always wondered how the
- 8:18police and the FBI knew so quickly after the assassination that Lee Oswald was staying
- 8:28at ten twenty six North Beckley, at that rooming house. Now, according
- 8:35to Arlene Roberts, there was police and FBI there a half an hour after
- 8:43Oswald left. This would be before he was even arrested at the Texas Theater.
- 8:50Folks, before they even got him downtown before they even got him into
- 8:56an interrogation room, before they even asked that ques question, if he even
- 9:03answered them truthfully. So, you know, had the events gone down like
- 9:16that, you know, you figure by the time they had arrested this man
- 9:22and got him down to the station and got him into an interrogation room,
- 9:26they would have to, you know, of course, get their ducks in
- 9:28a row first. They're not going to jump in the room with this guy
- 9:31right away. They're gonna make him sit there and wait. They're gonna come
- 9:33with a game plan about how they're going to address this individual and try to
- 9:39get information from it. So you know, you're looking at three o'clock at
- 9:43the earliest, right if it's if the source of the information is coming directly
- 9:50from Oswald, you know, they say different. They say they found out
- 9:54through Ruth Payne's address book and Irving. Well, that's a whole different story
- 10:00that we've gone into before. So I found a statement from one of the
- 10:05officers, W. E. Potts, officer number five seven six of the
- 10:11Dallas Police Department, and his report let's see, Yeah, his report about
- 10:22the events of November twenty second, nineteen sixty three, for him. This
- 10:28is according to W. E. Potts Folks. On Friday, November twenty
- 10:33second, nineteen sixty three, it was my day off. At one pm,
- 10:39I heard on the radio that the president had been shot. I called
- 10:43our office and talked to Detective TL. Baker, and he told me to
- 10:48get my ass in to work. No, he said, he told me
- 10:54to report for duty. So I arrived at our office at the Homicide and
- 10:58Robbery he Brew Bureau Bureau at two pm. After arriving at the office,
- 11:09I took an aphid David from Danny garcia Arse, who was a white male
- 11:15eighteen years of age and named mister Jack E. Doherty, who was a
- 11:24white male age forty. At least that's what I think it says. I
- 11:33don't know, I could be wrong, but that's what it appears to be.
- 11:37Both of these men are employees of the Texas School Book Depository. I
- 11:43was in the process of taking an AFID David from Doherty when the uniform officers
- 11:46brought in a white male they said had killed Officer J. D. Tippett.
- 11:54I later learned that the man the officers brought into our office was Lee
- 11:56Harvey Oswald. Mister Doherty and mister Arsay saw Oswald and told me that he
- 12:03was employed at the same place they were employed, the Texas Schoolbook Depository.
- 12:11It was about two forty pm when I finished taking affidavis from Doherty and Arsay.
- 12:18Captain Fritz told Detective Billy Sinkle and myself to go to ten twenty six
- 12:26North Beckley and search the room of Lee Oswald. All right, So he
- 12:33just wrapped up taking statements from Doherty and Arsey at two forty pm. So
- 12:43we tied these things up and then he says, Captain Fritz told Sinkle and
- 12:48myself to go to ten twenty six North Beckley and search the room with Lee
- 12:50Oswald. Lieutenant E. L. Cunningham went with Detective single in myself to
- 12:56this address. When we arrived at ten twenty six North Beckley, we contacted
- 13:01Missus Arline Roberts who's the landlady, and a Missus A. C. Johnson,
- 13:07who was the owner. This was at three pm November twenty second,
- 13:11nineteen sixty three. We checked the registration book for Alex Hadell or Lee Harvey
- 13:18Oswald and could not find neither of the name in the names in the book.
- 13:24The television was on and they showed a picture of Lee Harvey Oswald and
- 13:28Missus Johnson and Missus Roberts recognized a man as one of their rumors and said
- 13:33that he had registered there as O. H. Lee. They then directed
- 13:39me to his room, which was a small room just off the living room.
- 13:43We found that Lee Harvey Oswald had rented the room October fourteenth, nineteen
- 13:48sixty three and used the name O. H. Lee. We waited until
- 13:52the Justice of the Peace, David Johnston, Detective Turner, Detective Moore,
- 13:58and Da Bill Alexander arrived with a search warrant. This was about four thirty
- 14:05or five when the above named men arrived at ten twenty six North Thekley.
- 14:11We then proceeded to search the room of Lee Harvey Oswald or OH Lee.
- 14:16We recovered a City of Dallas map with several locations marked on it, a
- 14:20leather holster, a pair of binoculars, numerous letters addressed to Lee Harvey Oswald,
- 14:26several books and personal papers. We then brought all this property to Room
- 14:31three one seven at City Hall. On November twenty third, I reported to
- 14:37work at ten am and worked in the office answering telephone calls. I worked
- 14:41in the office until midnight. On November twenty fifth, nineteen sixty three,
- 14:46Detective Turner and myself took a picture of Lee Harvey Oswald to four zero zero
- 14:54seven Flamingo Street in Mesquite, Texas, to the home of Ronald Fisher,
- 15:01White male twenty four. Mister Fisher's business address is the County Auditor's Office.
- 15:07He stated that the picture look like the person he saw looking out of a
- 15:11window on the sixth floor of the Texas School Book Depository a few minutes before
- 15:16the President's motorcade arrived at Elman Houston. He would not definitely say it was
- 15:22the man he saw, but he stated that it looked like him. On
- 15:28November twenty third, nineteen sixty three, at two point fifteen pm, Detective
- 15:33Cinco and I accompanied a show up consisting of John Thurman Horne, David Knapp,
- 15:39Lee Harvey Oswald, and daniel Lehan from the jail office to the show
- 15:45up room. Still on the stage during the show up and codhere Detective Lavelle's
- 15:50voice, who was conducting the show up. I cannot see lavel through the
- 15:54black screen. After the show up, Detective Cinko and I took the four
- 15:58above mentioned person to the jail office elevator and waited until they were safely on
- 16:03the elevator before leaving. And we'll get more into Ronald Fisher right here as
- 16:08we go on. But so interesting how the quote unquote official story goes down
- 16:19that they didn't take anything out of the Harvey Oswall's room until five o'clock,
- 16:26which, by some accounts is total horseship. So let's move on to some
- 16:33eyewitness testimony, shall we, And here we go. Missus Tony Ruby Henderson
- 16:44furnished the following information on December sixth, nineteen sixty three. This is an
- 16:48FBI memorandum. On November twenty second, at approximately twelve fifteen pm, he
- 16:55was standing on the east side of Elm Street, just north of Houston,
- 16:57awaiting and passing of the President's motor cake. She said. Shortly after she
- 17:02arrived at this location, and just prior to the arrival of the motorcade,
- 17:06she recalls an ambulam an ambulance arriving and departing the area to pick up an
- 17:15individual whom she understood had had an epileptic fit. Missus Henderson said after the
- 17:22ambulance departed the area, she heard a woman in the record building located on
- 17:27the southwest corner of Elman Houston. Yell Yeah Woodman, which is a Dallas
- 17:36High school, and she looked in the direction from which the yell emanated.
- 17:40She said she thereafter swung around and looked in the building in which she works,
- 17:47the building located on the southeast corner of Elman Houston, and thence around
- 17:52to the Texas school Book Depository building. She said she observed numerous people on
- 17:59very floors looking out of the windows of the Texas school Book Depository building.
- 18:04She recalls that she saw two men on one of the upper floors of the
- 18:10building. She said she recalls one of the men had on a white shirt
- 18:15and one had on a dark shirt. She said she only observed these men
- 18:19from the waist up and does not know what their other attire consisted of.
- 18:26She said these men were standing back from the window, and she got the
- 18:30impression they were working and yet looking out the window in anticipation of the motorcade
- 18:34passing the building. She said she saw these men before the motorcade reached Houston
- 18:40and Elm, but doesn't have any idea how long it was prior to the
- 18:44motorcade arriving at that location. She said she believes the person in the white
- 18:48shirt and dark hair was possibly a Mexican, but could have been a light
- 18:55skinned Negro, as he appeared to be dark inflectioned, if that makes any
- 19:00sense whatsoever. She said she couldn't describe the other person other than the fact
- 19:07that he was taller than the aforementioned individual. Missus Henderson said at the time
- 19:15the motorcade passed where she was standing, she heard what she initially thought was
- 19:21a firecracker and saw what she thought was paper fly out of the presidential car.
- 19:27She said she now realized it was a shot she had heard, and
- 19:30what she thought was paper was probably flesh. She said after the first shot,
- 19:37she believed she heard two more in rapid succession, and then folks a
- 19:42fourth shot. Missus Henderson said after the shooting she stood transfixed in a daze
- 19:52for some time before returning to work. She said she returned to her place
- 19:57of employment at about twelve forty three pm. Missus Henderson said she became extremely
- 20:06upset and nervous after the president's assassination and it was necessary for her to take
- 20:11the following Monday off her job. Said she hesitated to mention anything about her
- 20:17observations, but felt she should relate same as they might possibly be of some
- 20:22benefit. Missus Henderson reiterated she could not definitely state one of the men she
- 20:29saw in the window of the Texas School Depository was not a Negro. She
- 20:34said she does not know what floor of the building the men were on,
- 20:37but doesn't recall seeing anyone on a floor higher up than the one they were
- 20:42on. Missus Ruby Henderson Folks. Robert Edwards, an employee of the Dallas
- 20:52County Auditor's Office, Dallas County Records Building, Dallas, Texas, lots of
- 20:57Dallas there, advised as follows. This is on December second, nineteen sixty
- 21:03three FBI memorandum that he, along with other employees of the Auditor's Office,
- 21:08had been permitted to leave work early on the twenty second in order to eat
- 21:12lunch and view the presidential motorcade. He said he ate lunch around eleven thirty
- 21:18and just before twelve went to the northeast corner of Maine and Houston. There
- 21:23he met a fellow employee, Ronald Fisher, by pre arrangement that means that
- 21:32they had talked about meeting there before they actually met there. Funny how that
- 21:38works. Shortly after he arrived there, he and Fisher went to the corner
- 21:42of Houston and Elm Streets for a better viewing position. It was at this
- 21:48time they were facing the Texas school Book Depository building. He arrived at this
- 21:52point about two or three minutes before the motorcade appeared. Just after arriving there,
- 21:57he saw a man on the of the above mentioned building who was apparently
- 22:02standing so he could be seen in the corner window. He described his person
- 22:07as a white man wearing a light colored sports shirt open at the neck and
- 22:12having short light sandy hair. Short light sandy hair. Now does that sound
- 22:22like Lee Oswald to you, folks? Yeah? Mean. He did not
- 22:26recognize this individual, and he mentioned Fisher how unusual was this man would be
- 22:32up in the window, and he wondered what he was doing up there.
- 22:34He did not see a gun, and his attention was diverted from this man
- 22:38when the president drove by. Shortly after President Kennedy's card passed his position,
- 22:45he heard shots which he thought were three or four. Again, here's the
- 22:51four in very rapid sequence, and because of the confusion, he did not
- 22:56look again for the individual. He had previously seen in the window on the
- 23:02sixth floor. He had no idea to where the shots had come from,
- 23:06and the person he had seen in the window previous to the shooting was visible
- 23:10only from the lower neck line up, and he was apparently standing between boxes
- 23:15which could be seen from the street. Lee Harvey Oswald's photograph was exhibited to
- 23:21Edwards, and he could not be sure this was a photograph of the same
- 23:25person he had seen in the window as above. He did not know Lee
- 23:29Harvey Oswald or Jack Ruby by name, description or photograph. Mister Kleemann Earl
- 23:41Johnson of Kleeberg, Texas was interviewed five hundred SHELLT. Houston Street, near
- 23:51Herrington, Dallas, Texas, and on March to eighteenth tied nineteen and sixty
- 23:56four. He furnished to following information and this is an FBI memorandum put together
- 24:03by Thomas Tretis and the EJ. Robertson. Mister Johnson stated that he was
- 24:11employed as a machinist for the Union Terminal Company at five hundred South Houston Street
- 24:18in Dallas, and was so employed on November twenty second, nineteen and sixty
- 24:23three. On this date he took up a position on the Elm Street Viaduct
- 24:30overlooking the route taken by the presidential motikade on that date. Mister Johnson stated
- 24:37his attention was attracted to the motorcycle or as Court and the automobile carrying the
- 24:42President, Derrek Kennedy, as this section of the motorcade came into his view.
- 24:48Here, he stated he first realized something was wrong when the motorcycles began
- 24:53moving from their regular course, and at or just before this, he heard
- 25:00sounds that could have been shots that could have they could have been Mister Johnson
- 25:06stated that at the time he did not know that it was shots, and
- 25:11he could not say how many shots he heard. His attention remained on the
- 25:15vehicle carrying from President Kennedy, and he observed this car until it's been a
- 25:19way. Mister Johnson stated that white smoke, some white smoke was observed near
- 25:26the pavilion there, but he felt that this smoke had come from an abandoned
- 25:32motorcycle near the spot by a Dallas policeman. Mister Johnson stated that he did
- 25:37not know nobody named Lee Harvey Oswald, and he had never met or seen
- 25:45Jack Rubin neither and that was mister cleman Earl Johnson of Kleeberg, Texas.
- 25:52Now all right, this is the Cecil Small allegation. So you've heard it,
- 26:15some of you haven't, so we're gonna go over again real quickly.
- 26:21Here. Now this is from an This is from a FBI usd OJ communication
- 26:32in nineteen sixty seven a teletype. Small advised he was proceeding in the direction
- 26:47of downtown Dallas on Fort Worth Avenue. I was approaching the intersection of Houston
- 26:52Street and fort Worth Avenue when he observed Missus Jacqueline Kennedy stand up in the
- 26:59automobile. At about this time, he saw a man running across the grass
- 27:03from the wall on Houston Street, and the man ran directly in front of
- 27:08Small's truck, requiring Small to apply his brakes. Also, two women at
- 27:15this time crossed in front of Small's truck, and the man and the two
- 27:19women all proceeded to a brown station wagon parked on Houston Street. The oldest
- 27:26of the women stumbled and fell shortly before she got to the station wagon.
- 27:30All three appeared to be Cuban or Mexican. The man was carrying a rifle
- 27:36wrapped in paper with a sign approximately one and one half feet square, tied
- 27:41to the end of the rifle barrel. Small maintained he was positive that this
- 27:45was a rifle because he could see the scope attached to it. I wonder
- 27:51what the sign said, Hello, this is a rifle. It has a
- 27:57scope on it. R Cuban, have a great day. Small preceded ten
- 28:06or fifteen blocks down Fort Worth Avenue to the Western Auto Store. It was
- 28:11at this time there was a newsflash the TV setting from the store that the
- 28:15President had been shot. The store clerk informed Small where the shooting occurred,
- 28:22and Small concluded at this point that the man he saw who passed in front
- 28:26of his truck carrying the rifle must have been the assassin. Small then proceeded
- 28:33to another store and thereafter was directed to an autopart store in Oakcliff. He
- 28:37passed by the He passed by the Texas Book Depository building on Elm Street,
- 28:42and approximately one and one a half miles from the Depository building that a clover
- 28:48leaf intersection picked up a man walking who he subsequently realized the next day,
- 28:53My god, it was Lee Harvey Oswalt Folks. Lee Harvey Oswalt. Small
- 29:00state at Oswald could not have assassinated the president because, in his opinion,
- 29:03he would not have had sufficient time to have assassinated the president, and walked
- 29:08to the Cloverleaf intersection where he was picked up by Small. Small carried this
- 29:14man to the Oak Cliff section and let him out on tenth Street, other
- 29:18street name unknown. Small stated after parking his truck, he walked back down
- 29:23the street, and while walking down the street carrying a connecting rod in his
- 29:29hand, a man yelled at him, which he believed to have been the
- 29:33same man that was on CBS's TV program June twenty seventh, last ri the
- 29:38Warrant Report and was operator of a used car lot who testified he observed Oswald
- 29:44walking down the street with a pistol in his hand and yelled at Oswald.
- 29:48Small thereafter proceeded to Irving to pick up his wife, who was employed at
- 29:53the Maywood Manufacturing Company. He observed a large crowd of people and building,
- 30:02and when he reached the crowd he was at Parkland Hospital. He saw standing
- 30:07in the crowd the man and two women who appeared to be Cuban or Mexican,
- 30:11who had previously crossed in front of his truck while he was on Fort
- 30:15Worth Avenue. He asked the older woman, who had a bruised leg,
- 30:22now and she had hurt herself when she fell over town. The older woman
- 30:29turned and said something in a foreign language to the young girl, who in
- 30:32turn spoke to the Cuban woman. They thereafter departed from the crowd. It
- 30:37was about this time Small observed President Kennedy's body being removed in a casket.
- 30:41When I asked why I did not tell someone about the Cuban man and two
- 30:45women if he believed they were responsible for the assassination, particularly when he again
- 30:51observed them at Parkland Hospital, he replied, I guess I was in a
- 30:55daze. He was in something and probably on something what we call here in
- 31:03Virginia good shit. Yeah. He stated he had not previously divulged this information
- 31:11to anyone because while in Dallas, he was afraid to furnish any info,
- 31:15and he does not know how, and he does not now desire to receive
- 31:21any publicity or become involved. However, he is of the opinion that Oswald
- 31:26did not kill Kennedy, but that the man who ran in front of his
- 31:30truck was the assassin. The questioning of Small and his wife revealed that Small
- 31:37has suffered seizures all his life and that he has had several severe quote seizures
- 31:42the past several years and is extremely nervous individual. It was obvious to interviewing
- 31:48agents that's Small on occasion became extremely nervous. They stated Small as being treated
- 31:55by doctor Wilson in Boone North in Boone, North Carolina, and that he
- 32:00has been examined by a doctor in Asheville, North Carolina. He has attempted
- 32:05to obtain disability benefits from Social Security, but was denied on July sixty six.
- 32:15They both advised Small unable to work because of these quote seizures in which
- 32:20he loses consciousness and when he regains consciousness, acts like a drunk man in
- 32:27that he is unable to recall things. Small admitted he has read all the
- 32:30newspapers which he still possesses, of the events concerning the assassination and watched the
- 32:36CBS report four nights. Small admitted on numerous occasions he is unable to sleep
- 32:43for thinking of the events in Dallas and merely sits in the trailer and smokes
- 32:49cigarettes, jacks off and drinks coffee, which one did I add there,
- 32:58You'll never know. Missus Small advised. She wrote letters to Missus Jacqueline Kennedy
- 33:07January last, informing Missus Kennedy she and her husband were in Dallas when the
- 33:12president was shot and mister Small was going in the opposite direction on another street
- 33:16at the time of the assassination, and it has some info as to who
- 33:21may have shot the president. They have not heard back from Missus Kennedy to
- 33:25this date. Missus Small stated that she was working at the Maywood Manufacturing Company
- 33:31between Dallas and Irving November twenty two, sixty three and did not get off
- 33:37work until four thirty that day. If she did state that, on a
- 33:40morning November twenty three, sixty three, when her husband first saw Oswald's photo
- 33:46in Dallas newspaper, he made the remark that that is the mand that I
- 33:51picked up and took to oak Cliffe or worked to that effect. Right,
- 34:01what are we to believe about that, folks? I have no idea,
- 34:09no clue. Hum, I don't know why I kept this. Maybe it
- 34:22was for maybe it's for comic relief here so h this is an FBI Western
- 34:37Union telegram and it was to mister J. Edgar Hoover of the FBI from
- 34:45a Missus Edith for Tado in Granada, California. Her Western Union telegram to
- 34:52j. Edgar Hoover stated, thus, I would like to know the true
- 34:59circumstance it is regarding John F. Kennedy's death. Sincerely his Edith for Tado
- 35:05Blah blah, Granada, California. Don't we all, Edith? Don't we
- 35:12all? I wondered if old Jay edguy have her answer that doubt all all
- 35:22right? Next up FBI doc from March twenty seven, sixty seven. Mister
- 35:29Milton Hallmark on Michigan Avenue, Dallas, Texas reported caliphonically to the Dallas FBI
- 35:36office, that is mama. This is Ruth Hallmark, who resides with him
- 35:40at the aforemation they address possess pertinent information on the above caption matter. Mister
- 35:46Hallmark stated that his mama had formerly worked in the building across the street from
- 35:51the school book depository, and he said that in the past he had heard
- 35:54his mama make the statement that she had seen Lee Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby
- 35:59together in the building in which she had been employed. On November twenty first,
- 36:04nineteen sixty three, that's the day before the assassination folks. She stated
- 36:09that she was employed by the Miller Randazzo Company at the old dal Text Building
- 36:15five oh one Elm Street at the time of the assassination. She stated that
- 36:22she recalled on November twenty first that four men who were all strangers to her
- 36:27and none of whom who were employees of the Miller ran Dazzo Company, came
- 36:30to the third floor offices of this company. She stated that these men were
- 36:36not together, all four arriving at different times during the day. Miss Hallmark
- 36:42stated that one of these men resembled the Harvey Oswald and another resembled Jack Ruby.
- 36:47The man who resembled Oswald asked one of the employees if he could use
- 36:52the telephone, but then before he even had a chance to use it,
- 36:57he just turned around and left the office without saying a word. Missus Hallmark
- 37:01stated that she definitely could not say that either of these men were Lee,
- 37:05Harvey Oswald or Jack Ruby. She stated that the other two men did not
- 37:09resemble anybody whom she had ever seen before or since. She described the man
- 37:16who resembled Oswald as a white male approximately thirty five foot ten, slender build,
- 37:22dark hair, dressed in a sports shirt and slacks. She described the
- 37:25man who resembled Jack Ruby as a white man five ten to five eleven,
- 37:30heavy build, brown hair, and dressed in a business suit. Missus Hallmark
- 37:36stated she could recall no descriptive data on the other two men whom she saw
- 37:38on this day. Now, she goes on to say how she noticed the
- 37:45resemblance of these two men after they came out on the news and in newspapers.
- 37:53But that's not all. So she stated that on November twenty second,
- 38:00she was looking out the third floor window of her office to watch the motor
- 38:04Cave pass by, and she heard three shots, and she stated she immediately
- 38:08knew that these were gun shots and not backfires, and on hearing the first
- 38:14shots, she stated she looked up towards the school book depository and saw smoke
- 38:19in the area of one of the upper floors of this building. She stated
- 38:22she saw no persons inside the building in the area of the smoke. Missus
- 38:27Hallmark added that the window she was looking out of faced Elma Street, and
- 38:31it was necessary for her to push all the way through to her giant booty
- 38:38very far out the window to see exactly what she did. She said,
- 38:43after the first gun shot, there was a lapse of time, and then
- 38:45there were two additional shots, one right after the other. She knew President
- 38:54Kennedy had been hit by one of the bullets as she saw blood, and
- 38:58she also saw Governor Connolly slumped over into the seat of the automobile. Missus
- 39:04Hallmark stated that she saw or that the smoke she saw in the area of
- 39:08the Texas school Book Depository was right next to that building and was at least
- 39:13at least one floor higher than the floor in which she was standing. She
- 39:17was on the third floor of the old John Deere building and estimated that smoke
- 39:22she saw came from the fourth, fifth, or sixth floor of the Texas
- 39:25school Book Depository building. And it was at this point that Missus Hallmark's son,
- 39:32Miltan Milton came into the room and interrupted to tell the interviewing agent that
- 39:37approximately three to four evenings ago, he telephoned the district Attorney Jim Garrison,
- 39:44then let him know that his mama had seen all this stuff and they were
- 39:49awaiting a callback from Jim Garrison. Now. Missus Hallmark stated that one of
- 39:57her friends A Thelma Merycal worked with her at the time, and they had
- 40:04talked about this stuff at the time, talked about the strangers, talked about
- 40:07them looking like Lee RV. Oswald and Jack Ruby. So the FBI went
- 40:13and interviewed Missus merrical and she stated that she did not recall seeing any strange
- 40:19men on the third floor of the Miller Randazzo building or company on November twenty
- 40:23first, sixty three. She said she did not know anyone who looked like
- 40:28either Oswald or Ruby, and stated she had never discussed any such matter with
- 40:32Missus Hallmark. She stated that Missus Hallmark was a coworker of hers and merely
- 40:38an acquaintance, but not close friends. It was Missus Merrichal's opinion that Hallmark
- 40:44is mistaken as to the fact that she discussed anything regarding the assassination with her.
- 40:51Missus Merrichal added that she did not know of any employees of the Miller
- 40:53Randazzo Company who had discussed noting any resemblance of the two strange men, Lee
- 41:00Harvey Oswald and Jack Ruby. So did Melton's mommy see anything that day or
- 41:07she full of shit? Funes, I don't know Melton Milton, and get
- 41:14in here and bring my dessus boy, and a cup of tea hot tea.
- 41:21Earl Gray, you son of a bitch, better not be no cam
- 41:24ameal Milton. On January fifteenth, nineteen sixty four, J. Edgar Hoover,
- 41:35the Director of the FBI, sent out an Airtel to the special Agent
- 41:39in charge of the Dallas Division of the FBI because he thought they might have
- 41:46a potential problem relating to the alleged observations of Richard Randolph Clark. The purpose
- 41:59of submitting a letter head memorandum in this matter is not clear. It would
- 42:01appear this inquiry should be handled as a regular investigative development under the above caption,
- 42:07and not under the caption of the reference to Airtel. Prior to considering
- 42:13this matter resolved, the allegations made by Cars should be specifically repudiated. It
- 42:17is noted one of the original allegations is that Car stated that Oswald did not
- 42:23assassinate the president, and that he and four or five of the other steel
- 42:27workers witnessed the assassination, and presumably they could substantiate the Car statements. Cars
- 42:35should be recontacted at an appropriate signed statement taken regarding his observations. He should
- 42:42be confronted with the inconsistencies noted, particularly those based on personal observation by Dallas
- 42:47agents. You should also be alert to any violation of Title eighteen of the
- 42:53US Code, Section one thousand and one. So if Richard Randolph Carr is
- 43:05telling the truth, apparently jaegrew who said, Now, we can't have that
- 43:13guy saying what he's saying. All right? Next up, mister Hank the
- 43:21tank Farmer, in care of missus Dorothy Martin above address advice. He is
- 43:31a service station attendant at the Rock Station on Singleton Street in Dallas, Texas.
- 43:39This is an FBI memorandum dated December the fourteen, sixty three. Okay,
- 43:46mister Hank the tank Farmer advised. On the twenty second of November sixty
- 43:52three, at approximately twelve fifteen, he arrived at the Dallas County Courthouse to
- 43:58pay his damn taxes. Ah. He was unaware that there was to be
- 44:04a presidential motorcade passing by at this time. He noticed the crowd and heard
- 44:08someone say that the president is coming. No, it wasn't Marilyn Monroe.
- 44:20He waited in the park at the corner of Houston and Elm Street, and
- 44:22watched the motorcade come west off Main Street onto Houston Street, and then west
- 44:28on Elm. He stated he saw Kennedy appear to fall over in the car,
- 44:32and then he saw Governor Connolly also appear to fall over. He did
- 44:37not hear any shots fired and did not know what happened, and there was
- 44:42confusion with many people running in all directions, and then the President's car drove
- 44:47off at a high rate of speed. Farmer stated that he did not know
- 44:54what happened, but thought that both men had been shot. However, he
- 45:00he did not hear any shots. He stated he has no further information to
- 45:04furnish on the shooting, so he then returned home. He does not know
- 45:07Lee rb Oswald and has never seen him other than on television. He also
- 45:12does not know Jack Ruby and only saw him on television. So thanks Hank
- 45:19the Tank. Various stude observations, but apparently Hank the Tank was a busy
- 45:30man, shall we say now? This memorandum is dated eleven twenty three sixty
- 45:40three, which is the day after the assassination. It states this at eight
- 45:46fifty one am eleven twenty three sixty three, Missus Dorothy Martin. Right,
- 45:52Remember we just read about mister Hank Farmer who is in the care of Missus
- 45:59Dorothy Martin the above address on Toronto Street, which is Missus Dorothy Martin's address,
- 46:07So that means mister Hank to Tank Farmer is staying with Dorothy Martin.
- 46:10So advised that on the night of eleven, twenty two, sixty three,
- 46:15mister Hank the Tank Farmer was interviewed by the FBI and gave her address.
- 46:21She called the state that he had given this address merely because he did not
- 46:24have another residential address to give. When questioned more closely, she advised that
- 46:30she was not supposed to have anybody living with her at the Dallas Housing Authority
- 46:35project, and as a consequence, did not want her address used for fear
- 46:37of newspaper publicity. The aforementioned this for information, So she had Hank to
- 46:45Tank Farmer staying with her. Apparently he was installing some pipe in Missus Martin's
- 46:55residence. Wiggling back to November twenty second to sixty three for the original statement
- 47:05of Hank the Tank Today at five point thirty six pm, Hank the Tank
- 47:09Farmer twenty eight sixty two Toronto Street telephonically advised the Dallas FBI office that he
- 47:16advised that he was standing on the southeast corner of Elman Houston at the time
- 47:21when the President Kennedy was shot. He stated he saw Kennedy hit by the
- 47:24bullet and felt that the bullet entered Kennedy's face. He stated he then saw
- 47:30Governor Connelly shot and this shot entered Connolly's back. Farmer stated, therefore,
- 47:36it is his opinion that the two shots were fired by two individuals from opposite
- 47:40directions. And Farmer stated he wishes to speak to an agent while or within
- 47:45the bureau and states he will not talk to the Dallas PD because he hates
- 47:51them some bitches. Well, Hank the Tank. That's why, probably why
- 48:00y'all have never heard of him before, because he states that the shots came
- 48:06from different directions. Imagine that, hmm, Hank to tank. Maybe Hank
- 48:14to tank. Next up from the FBI office at Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
- 48:21Ye, that's right, you heard me right, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
- 48:23November twenty sixth, nineteen sixty three. On the evening of November twenty second,
- 48:29a mister Charles J. Schenker of Norman, Oklahoma, a bank examiner
- 48:34employed by the Treasury Department, telephonically advised that he was in Dallas, Texas
- 48:39on Wednesday, November twentieth, and on the evening of that date, at
- 48:43a parking lot of the Adolphice Hotel in downtown Dallas. A parking attendant there
- 48:47told him he knew some guy who was going to kill the president and Gona
- 48:52Governor Connelly. The parking attendant said this person had been to Russia. No
- 48:58further description of this was given, and on November twenty third, sixty three,
- 49:05mister Shanker was interviewed and furnished the following science statement. I, Charles
- 49:12J. Shanker, make the following voluntary statement to Donald Sloate and Harold Duncan,
- 49:17who have identified themselves to me as special agents of the Federal Bureau of
- 49:22Investigation the US Department of Justice. I know the information I furnished may be
- 49:28used in a court of law. I am twenty eight years of age and
- 49:31I reside at eight one seven East Lindsay, Norman, Oklahoma. I am
- 49:36employed as a bank examiner by the Treasury Department. On Wednesday, November twentieth,
- 49:43sixty three, I was at Dallas, Texas, in the company of
- 49:45other bank examiners auditing the First National Bank of Dallas, Texas. On that
- 49:51evening, a friend and I attended a show at the Theaterre Lounge in Dallas,
- 49:54Texas. The Theaterre Lounge is located near the Adolphus Hotel. I sat
- 50:00through three shows at the theater Lounge, and late in the evening I fell
- 50:05ill as a result of several drinks I had. I left my friend in
- 50:09the lounge and went to a restroom. Then, believing that fresh air would
- 50:14help me, so I went outside. I intended to wait for my friend
- 50:17at the car and returned to our quarters at the Four Farts Mote I mean,
- 50:23I'm sorry, Four Winds Motel on Harry Hines Boulevard in Dallas. The
- 50:30car was parked in the basement of the Adolphice Hotel. I waited there a
- 50:34short while, and, still feeling ill, I inquired of a parking attendant
- 50:37for the location of a restroom. I went to the restroom and the attendant
- 50:43followed me in there and then offered to hold it for me. In the
- 50:47restroom, the attendant engaged me in conversation, first commenting on the expected arrival
- 50:54of President John F. Kennedy. He then said that there was a plot
- 50:58to kill the president and Governor Connolly. When I expressed disbelief at this statement,
- 51:04he continued by stating that he knew the person who was planning the act,
- 51:07to my knowledge. The conversation with the intendant began with this remark,
- 51:12you look like an intelligent fellow. If I tell you something, will you
- 51:15believe it? When I replied that I did not know whether I would believe
- 51:19it or not, he said that President Kennedy was coming to Dallas and that
- 51:22he and the governor would be shot down. The attendant's words were, quote,
- 51:28They're going to be shot down end quote. I told the attendant that
- 51:31I thought he was crazy, and he replied that he knew the cat who
- 51:36was going to do it, and this person did not like the way the
- 51:38president was running the country. I then said to the attendant that if this
- 51:44person did not like it here, he should leave. He then said he
- 51:50has been to Russia and to Cuba and was not allowed to stay there.
- 51:54I then asked the parking intendant to write down what he had just told me
- 51:58or go to the police with me. He refused to do either one,
- 52:02claiming that he could not write. He refused to name the person involved in
- 52:07the above information. Seeing a stranger approaching, I asked the parking attendant to
- 52:13relate the same information to him, but he refused to say say anything,
- 52:17saying no, man, I didn't say anything about that. I had said
- 52:22to the stranger that the parking attendant had information to the effect that Kennedy was
- 52:27going to be assassinated. After the parking attendant denied this information to the stranger,
- 52:32he the stranger suggested I go home and sleep it off and forget the
- 52:37matter. After the stranger left, I inquired of the parking attendant that if
- 52:40he knew this information, how did he know and how was he associated with
- 52:45the information and the person who was to commit the act. The parking attendant
- 52:52then refused to tell me how he knew. I then left the parking garage
- 52:57and went to the Four Winds Motel by taxi. I did not recall the
- 53:00above information until Friday, November twenty second, sixty three, when Kennedy was
- 53:07killed. Upon hearing the news report of his death, the incident was recalled.
- 53:12I read the above statement consisting of this and four other pages, and
- 53:15the informant information contained therein is the truth, best to my knowledge and recollection,
- 53:22Sincerely, Charles J. Shanker. Sounds like a legit guy, a
- 53:30bank examiner and auditor working for the Treasury Department. He might have been a
- 53:34little shit faced drunk, but you know, things happened. Things happened,
- 53:44folks, So they found at the Adolficer told Garage at Texas established that artist
- 54:01artist Ertist Rogers was the only employee with a scarrow's neck, as described by
- 54:07Charles Shanker. Ertist Rogers three seven eighty five Pointer Street, Dallas, Texas,
- 54:15a parking lot attendant at the Adolphice Hotel, advised and on November twenty
- 54:19third, sixty three, or advised on the twenty third. Then on the
- 54:22twentieth he worked his regular shift at the Adolphice parking lot, namely seven am
- 54:27to seven pm, and then after working he proceeded directly to his residence at
- 54:31the above address. Rogers stated that he had never engaged in any conversation with
- 54:37anybody at any time concerning the possible assassination of President Kennedy. He denied having
- 54:44a conversation with Charles Shanker and said he had never heard any talk by others
- 54:49concerning the assassination of the president prior to the actual event. I don't know
- 54:52nothing about nobody nothing. On November twenty fifth, Shanker was exhibited a photograph
- 55:00of Ernest Rogers, a Negro male born April thirtieth, nineteen thirty six in
- 55:07Marietta, Texas. Shanker stated he believed that Artis was the person with whom
- 55:12he had a conversation on the late evening of November twentieth. He recalled the
- 55:15person with whom he talked as being heavier and with a definite scar on his
- 55:20neck or throat and a mustache. Mister Shankers stated he had started drinking beer
- 55:27at about five or five thirty on November twentieth, and he had ten to
- 55:30twelve beers during the evening until approximately midnight, and then he was drunk when
- 55:37the incident with the parking attendant took place. He said he had nothing to
- 55:42drink but beer during the evening. So who's telling the truth there? The
- 55:50old Treasury Department Shanker or brother Ertis. The world will never know. Now
- 56:02this one here is interesting, folks. Pay attention. January the ninth,
- 56:10nineteen sixty four to the Director of the FBI, j Ed Gat Hoover from
- 56:19Specialrating in Charge Dallas, subject Lee Harvey Oswald regarding a telephone call from Inspector
- 56:28James Malley to Jay Gordon Shanklin, Dallas. Assistant Chief of Police Charles Bachelor,
- 56:44Dallas PB this date advised Vincent Drain that Inspector Sawyer of the Dallas PD
- 56:52was one of the first officers to arrive at the scene of the School Book
- 56:57Depository building at four in Elm Street. An unidentified individual told Inspector Sawyer that
- 57:06he had seen an individual run from the TSBD building shortly after the shooting of
- 57:12President Kennedy, and that this individual was an unknown white male, approximately thirty
- 57:19slender build five nine or five ten, one hundred and sixty five pounds,
- 57:23carrying what looked to be a thirty six or some type of Winchester rifle.
- 57:31Inspector Sawyer then contacted Dallas Police Sergeant G. D. Hensley, a radio
- 57:37dispatcher, and this description was broadcast to all Dallas Police squad cars. Sawyer
- 57:45did not get the individual's name and furnished the information. Of course, why
- 57:50would he and from Affid Davids taking subsequently of individuals who were near the scene
- 57:57at the time of the shooting. No identification has been made of the source
- 58:01of this information. Interesting, and here's another one from previously unheard by me
- 58:15files. This comes from Tom leather Berry, who is the president of the
- 58:22Wilbert Vault Company of Texas. Now, this vault company did not make safes,
- 58:30well, they kind of did, but they were for dead bodies in
- 58:35which coffins where caskets were placed in them and buried. I'm talking about burial
- 58:42vaults people. So this times from the Wilbert Vault Company of Texas, the
- 58:47president of that company being Tom leather Berry. This letter is dated November twenty
- 59:00sixth, nineteen sixty three, to the Agent in Charge FBI, Dallas,
- 59:07Texas. Dear Sir, I herewith present my statement of a happening which may
- 59:13or may not be important to your investigation of the tragic slaying of President Kennedy.
- 59:19I will do my best to make it brief. On Friday, November
- 59:22twenty second, sixty three, at four point fifty pm, I was standing
- 59:28on the grass esplanade near the spot where President Kennedy was shot earlier in the
- 59:31day. There were a number of people going and coming with very little or
- 59:37no conversation. Whilst everyone seemed stunned over the assassination. There was, however,
- 59:44one young man there was there who was full of good humor and a
- 59:51wealth of information. He overheard me quietly asked another bystander whether the motorcade had
- 59:58come straight out Elm or had turned left off Houston. He immediately attached himself
- 1:00:04to me, all the while answering questions even before they entered my mind.
- 1:00:09He had many theories regarding the shooting, and at first I considered him to
- 1:00:13be just an alert, friendly young man. However, in only a few
- 1:00:17minutes his conversation left me uncomfortable and, as I realized later, even suspicious.
- 1:00:24Among other unsolicited information, he theorized why the killer had waited until the
- 1:00:30car had turned off Houston before firing his shots. He talked much and showed
- 1:00:36me where a bullet was supposed to have been dug out of the ground at
- 1:00:38the corner of a concrete square at the curb side of the esplanade, and
- 1:00:43as I took a polaroid picture of the spot, he noticed me lining it
- 1:00:46up with the window of the building where the shots were supposed to have come
- 1:00:50from. I'm a former US Marine and was doing this really without thinking about
- 1:00:55it. And he started talking about the trajectory of the bullet and said,
- 1:01:00I have a feeling that they had stood right here where we are standing now
- 1:01:05and lined up the shooting beforehand. He went into a long discourse of how
- 1:01:10easy it would be to figure out the shot by finding out the height of
- 1:01:15the President, the height of the car seat, and all of this.
- 1:01:22This boy told me he had watched the motorcade from the south Land Building,
- 1:01:27and it bothered me that he was speculating as to why the President had stood
- 1:01:31up in the car after it turned left off Houston in seconds before he was
- 1:01:37shot. I still have not heard or read that this young man appeared to
- 1:01:45be about twenty two to twenty five, slim, one hundred and thirty pounds,
- 1:01:52possibly five ten. He had light hair, may have been dyed and
- 1:01:57curled, and his right eye had a he looked to it. He wore
- 1:02:01a light colored tweed suit with a small white flower in the lapel. He
- 1:02:07had neither a prosperous nor a poor appearance. Later Friday evening, I told
- 1:02:12my wife that the more I thought about it, the more I believe that
- 1:02:15I should tell someone about this fellow. I first went to the Southland Hotel
- 1:02:20and talked to the doorman and the hotel officer, learning that the boy I
- 1:02:23had described to them had been in the lobby seven hours before with a bald
- 1:02:30headed man who was quote popping off about the president and his death. They
- 1:02:36said they had never seen him before. I then went to the Sheriff's department
- 1:02:39and told them the same thing as we had written here, and was told
- 1:02:44the Southland is a long ways from here, and besides, it was a
- 1:02:47one man's job, and anyway, the investigation has been transferred to the city
- 1:02:52and if you want to, you can go tell them about it. I
- 1:02:55then went to the city municipal building and told the same story to a detective
- 1:03:00who was as unimpressed as the man had been in the Sheriff's office. He
- 1:03:05did take my name and room number at the Holiday Inn, but assured me
- 1:03:09that it was just a one man show and that they have the man in
- 1:03:14custody. Saturday night, I talked to the dormant at the south Lane Hotel
- 1:03:19again and he said that he had seen that boy again and found out he
- 1:03:23was in the hotel and he was a trainee of some sort with the Commonwealth
- 1:03:29Life Insurance Company upstairs. He said that as far as he knew, the
- 1:03:32police had not been around to check on him. I have just read in
- 1:03:37the Monday Galveston Tribune that you have a Dallas map found in Harvey os Wall's
- 1:03:45rooming house and at the intersection of Houston and Elm Streets, a line traces
- 1:03:51the trajectory similar to that of the shot which took the life of the president.
- 1:03:57The person I've described may turn out to be just an extravert with a
- 1:04:00great deal of perception and imagination. However, I know that you people are
- 1:04:04better able to decide than anyone else. I live at four seven eleven Sherman,
- 1:04:10Galveston, Texas, Telephone Dot DA DA. Tom Leatherberry, president of
- 1:04:15the Wilbert Vault Company of Texas, Houston. November twenty seventh, nineteen sixty
- 1:04:27three FBI Memorandum Missus Billy Morse of two five three four West Fifth Street,
- 1:04:32Irving, Texas following furnished the following information. Now for those of you paying
- 1:04:41attention at home, Missus Billy Morse was part of the Cackling Hen Crew set
- 1:04:47around while their husbands were at work in Irving, Texas, and drank tea
- 1:04:51and gossips about all the bitches, along with Ruth Payne, Marina Oswald,
- 1:04:59Lenny may Ram, so Forth, and so on. During the afternoon of
- 1:05:04October twenty seventh, nineteen sixty three, she was visiting her cousin, missus
- 1:05:11Allen Lewis, who was again part of the Cackling Hen Crew, and she
- 1:05:15lived at twenty five or fourteen West Fis Street. Nerving at five thirty or
- 1:05:18six, she recalled seeing a man sitting in a lawn chair across the street
- 1:05:24with his hog out at twenty five fifteen West Fistrey. No, he didn't
- 1:05:30have his hogout, folks. In fact, his nickname was Pinky. No,
- 1:05:35I'm sorry, we're not there yet. Sorry. He was alone except
- 1:05:41for several small children playing in the yard. She recalled that this man resembled
- 1:05:45the photograph of Lee Harvey Oswald, but it is not sure that he was
- 1:05:48the same man. Upon viewing a photograph of Jack Ruby, that's right,
- 1:05:54Pinky as he was known, she stated that she is not certain that she's
- 1:05:58seen this man, but believes he may have I have been in Irving sometime
- 1:06:02in the summer of sixty three when a man resembling his photograph came next door
- 1:06:08to her house and picked up her neighbor, Bill Simmons, who was playing
- 1:06:13in a combo in one of Ruby's nightclubs. This man may have been Ruby.
- 1:06:16She is certain, however, that she has never seen Ruby and Oswald
- 1:06:21together. Interesting, and that is true Bill Simmons, who lived or who
- 1:06:30worked at the Karazl Club. I said believe it was the drummer lived right
- 1:06:35across the street from Bruce Payne in Irving. Get that all right? January
- 1:06:48tenth, sixty seven, William Blanton Acker of Auburn, Alabama, advised that
- 1:06:57he had just finished reading an article regarding the assassination Center President Kennedy in the
- 1:07:01January fourteenth issue of the Saturday Evening Post, and wished to furnish the following
- 1:07:05information. In nineteen sixty three, he was in Miami, Florida, employed
- 1:07:12at the Royal Castle number two, Flagler and Second, and met one Art
- 1:07:16Silva. Silva at that time was living with one Phyllis last name unknown at
- 1:07:25a small hotel across the street from Royal Castle Number two. They later moved
- 1:07:30to an apartment in a court near Lejune Road in Eighth Street, which was
- 1:07:33behind a fruit stand. One of their neighbors in the court, consisting of
- 1:07:38about ten units, was one Roy last name unknown, who was living with
- 1:07:43some woman name unrecalled in the court next door to Arts Roy. Art Graves,
- 1:07:51by the way, according to Art, had several telescopic site rifles,
- 1:07:57grenades, mortars, dynamite, etc. In his room. Also, Roy
- 1:08:02had made a trip to Dallas, Texas in late November sixty three and was
- 1:08:08reported by Art to have secret Service credentials. Roy was also associated with various
- 1:08:15Cuban resistance movements and was an ex marine. Acker notes thatt Acker notes that
- 1:08:21instant article he read says a policeman stopped a man in Dallas who showed secret
- 1:08:28service credentials. Aker says at a Christmas party in sixty three he was arguing
- 1:08:33with Roy and almost came to blows as Roy blamed former President Kennedy personally for
- 1:08:39the death of one of his close friends who was in the invasion at the
- 1:08:44Bay of Pigs. That, folks, is what you call very very interesting.
- 1:08:58Roy Hargrave's people, and this is from HCA November seven, seventy eight,
- 1:09:13an outside contact report with Linda Pits of Odessa, Texas. Interview reached
- 1:09:19at her father's home in Dallas, Texas. She recalled the following details during
- 1:09:26our conversation on the phone. Distinctly heard three shots, saw the president's head
- 1:09:30blow up like a watermelon. The latter remains vivid in her mind. While
- 1:09:36unable to determine the direction of the shots, she still has the impression the
- 1:09:41head trauma was the result of a front to rear shot. Advised further,
- 1:09:45she and her sister Rosemary were close to the curb, perhaps ten to fifteen
- 1:09:49feet, in order to get a good look at JFK. This had been
- 1:09:54considered to be quite the occasion. They were even excused from school to do
- 1:09:59so. After all, presidents didn't come to Dallas that often. Although they
- 1:10:03were close together, she didn't come into full view as Rosemary did, and
- 1:10:08finally she remembers the gunfire being rapid. No further details regarding the timings.
- 1:10:18George Davis nineteen sixty six, December ninth. This is an interview by uh
- 1:10:30Hollis Coombs McCombe. The Cooms after the President had been hit, you were
- 1:10:38telling me, Davis says, uh, and this is George A. Davis.
- 1:10:44By the way, I definitely saw the car stop just a little bit
- 1:10:47west of the steps leading down to the street, the westernmost steps, possibly
- 1:10:51one hundred feet from me. I saw missus Kennedy on the back seat with
- 1:10:57combs. Do you remember what mister missus, says Conley were doing. Davis.
- 1:11:01No, there was a commotion in the car, but mostly my eyes
- 1:11:04were glued on the president. So the man came up with a trench coat
- 1:11:10on with an automatic pistol on the north side of the car, near the
- 1:11:15rear of the car. McCombs. Do you remember what anybody else did,
- 1:11:20Davis? No. One policeman laid his motorcycle down in the street, and
- 1:11:25another one ran up the embankment on a motorcycle. McCombs. Do you remember
- 1:11:30what he did? No, McCombs, you were telling me about the skull
- 1:11:35yesterday, Davis. We went around the corner of the fence where they said
- 1:11:40the smoke came from, and just followed the crowd around raccoons. Someone said
- 1:11:45it was just jammed with cars, a brown station wagon with prints on it.
- 1:11:50Hey, didn't we talk about a brown station wagon earlier, m M
- 1:11:59Davis to hear anybody make a remark about anything like that. Mister Bowers would
- 1:12:03have seen a man with a gun of any kind standing there. He said,
- 1:12:06there was no human being on earth, or I'm sorry, there was
- 1:12:10no human being up on the north side of the fence. I think that
- 1:12:13pretty well clears that up raccoons. I think it does. While Shelley Katz
- 1:12:18and mister Davis and I were standing over the underpass, there was a sound
- 1:12:25like a rifle shot, a backfire or something. I immediately turned to Shelley
- 1:12:30Katz and said, how many did you hear? He said three? I
- 1:12:33asked mister Davis, how many did you hear? Mister Davis said he heard
- 1:12:38three. So then we all agreed there was only one shot, but we
- 1:12:43heard two echoes, all three of us. Now, let's see it seemed
- 1:12:48to you these cars were traveling at about eighteen to twenty miles an hour.
- 1:12:54Davis. The scene is the same now as then, except the trees and
- 1:12:59shrubbery around Fencer bigger combs. Missus Davis said he saw the blood spurt right
- 1:13:06out and down the shirt. Now, after you came from behind fence,
- 1:13:12a uniformed officer Davis. He came around the fence and said, to me,
- 1:13:17look at this piece of skull bone I just picked up from the center
- 1:13:20of the street. And he handed it to me, and it was perfectly
- 1:13:24clear of blood, and I would say it was close to two inches long
- 1:13:28in about three quarters of an inch wide on one end and maybe an inch
- 1:13:31and a quarter on the other. But on one side of it you could
- 1:13:34definitely tell that it had great old debrain. You know how the inside of
- 1:13:40the skull is. It's a little cluster of little dark red circles. He
- 1:13:45handed it to me and I handed it back to him after I looked it
- 1:13:47over, and there was a plain clothesman who said, here, I'll take
- 1:13:51that, and he reached out and took it out of the policeman's hand.
- 1:13:56I don't know who he was. The policeman may have known him, but
- 1:13:59I didn't. He was a heavyset man, well dressed, as I remember
- 1:14:01it. He had something on like a trench coat. He put it in
- 1:14:04his pocket. He left, and I didn't watch where he went with it.
- 1:14:10McCombs were people talking and jabbering around you. By this time, Davis,
- 1:14:16there was quite a bit of excitement. People were in a real estate
- 1:14:18of shock. Didn't seem to say much, not much, said McCombs.
- 1:14:24Do you remember anything that was said by anyone? Davis, No, But
- 1:14:29I do know that mister Bowers, possibly under the instructions in orders when the
- 1:14:31police stopped all trains, no trains came in or left during that time.
- 1:14:36I think a policeman searched one train before it was left, to see that
- 1:14:40there was no one leaving on the trains or anything like that. I do
- 1:14:44know they held up train traffic there for quite a while. Davis talked with
- 1:14:49him yesterday afternoon regarding any statement that mister Bowers may have made to him.
- 1:14:55Mister Bowers did not tell him directly that he didn't see anyone on the north
- 1:14:58side of the fence, but he did hear me Bowers say it talking to
- 1:15:01other people. There is the tower, but not the hymn. Combs.
- 1:15:08How long did smoke hang there? Was it still there until you ran around
- 1:15:14the fence? Davis? No, it was gone, and I'd say a
- 1:15:17minute minute and a half at most, and then there was nothing there.
- 1:15:21Smoke was blueish, whitish smoke. And I examined the ground and looked around
- 1:15:26and saw no sign of spent cartridges there. When I went on the north
- 1:15:30side of the fence, the combs, So you saw no ejected shelves,
- 1:15:35Davis. No, When McCombs, when you'll get when y'all got around there,
- 1:15:44nobody was there in the corner, Davis. No, sir McCombs.
- 1:15:49Did you have any notion where the bullets were coming from? Davis? No,
- 1:15:55As I told you, from where I was standing, there was a
- 1:15:59tree limb that locked my view of the window where Oswald allegedly did the shootings
- 1:16:02from. Otherwise I believe I would have seen it because I've hunted squirrels and
- 1:16:08things enough in the woods that if anything moves, I'll see it. If
- 1:16:12a tiny baby roach crawls anywhere in the house, I'll see that thing.
- 1:16:16I don't know what, but anything moving attracts my eye. I think that's
- 1:16:23the reason I didn't see Oswald coombs. Did you have any idea where the
- 1:16:29bullets were coming from? Did you assume where they were coming from? Davis?
- 1:16:33I never thought about that. Sounded like a cluster of medium sized firecrackers.
- 1:16:39There were probably eight or nine concussions explosions. Whatever you want to call
- 1:16:43it one shot, two or three echoes, another shot, two or three
- 1:16:46more echoes, another shot, two or three more echoes like we heard yesterday.
- 1:16:51And I don't think anyone standing on the overpass could have counted the shots.
- 1:16:57I have heard other men make the same statement. I think Luke Winborne
- 1:17:02is one of them. Davis quote positive proof Oswald is the only gunman with
- 1:17:10BOMs. P s. Shelley Katz took pictures of mister Davis dressed as he
- 1:17:15was on that day of the assassination, standing in the same position he was
- 1:17:19on the day of the assassination, and looking in the same direction. Also
- 1:17:25Cats took furious close up pictures and character study pictures and placement pictures. Kats
- 1:17:34has already sent them on to Ed Kern in New York. Davis' home number
- 1:17:39is blank fourteen forty three North Beckley, Dallas, Texas, close to the
- 1:17:46Roomy House. And our last one for the day, Folks is from December
- 1:17:54twenty seventh, nineteen sixty three. Some specialats in Harlan Brown's at three twenty
- 1:18:01pm on December twenty seventh, nineteen sixty three. Missus Mary Sue Brown of
- 1:18:06Singing Hills Boulevard, Dallas, Texas, requested that her identity be kept confidential,
- 1:18:15stated that about three weeks ago, an individual named Richard Carr, who
- 1:18:19resides on North Bishop Street and Dallas, had told her that Lee Harvey Oswald
- 1:18:24had not assassinated President Kennedy. Carr is a friend of Missus Brown's sister,
- 1:18:30Els Johnson, who resides at the same address as Missus Brown. A friend
- 1:18:35named Holly Jordan also heard this individual make the statement concerning the fact that Oswald
- 1:18:41did not assassinate the president. According to Missus Brown, Carr was making an
- 1:18:46application for a job at a building who was under construction near the courthouse at
- 1:18:53the time President Kennedy was assassinated. Carr told her and the others that he
- 1:18:58was about five hundred yards in the place where the president was assassinated, and
- 1:19:02he had seen the individual who had fired the gun from the school book depository
- 1:19:08and that it was not Oswald. Now this is from five hundred yards away,
- 1:19:12folks. You know how many football fields, that is, five football
- 1:19:17fields laid end to end. But this guy was sure that it wasn't Lee
- 1:19:23Harvey Oswald, who probably looked like an ant at that time. He said
- 1:19:30that this individual had on a hat, horn rimmed glasses and was an athletic
- 1:19:34build Carr told him that there was a Negro man with a gray colored car
- 1:19:42waiting for this individual after the assassination, and that the man who did the
- 1:19:45shooting got into this gray car. Lara told Missus Brown and the others that
- 1:19:51there were four or five other steel workers on the building under construction near the
- 1:19:55place where the president was assassinated that they could likewise corroborate his story. Carr
- 1:20:03said that one of them had been interviewed already by the FBI. Missus Brown
- 1:20:09believed that the building Car had reference to was the County building being constructed south
- 1:20:13of the old Courthouse. Said the Car was sober at the time that he
- 1:20:17made the statement, and although she did not know him well, he didn't
- 1:20:20seem to be the Brackert type or to be joking when he told this story.
- 1:20:26She said. The car is currently working on the new First National Bank
- 1:20:29building in downtown Dallas, which is currently under construction. So very interesting stuff,
- 1:20:38folks. That's gonna be all we get into this week. But I
