- 0:05Speaker 1: from Mark. Here's Ken Rosotto and am very happy Halloween
- 0:09Speaker 1: to you. The end of the week is here. Mark's
- 0:11Speaker 1: off on a long weekend. Former New York City TV
- 0:14Speaker 1: news anchor Camerasata n And I was the morning in
- 0:16Speaker 1: Midday TV news anchor for twenty years, Hey on Channel seven.
- 0:21Speaker 1: I did the same thing over in Channel five before that.
- 0:24Speaker 1: These days, I host a daily show. It's a New
- 0:27Speaker 1: Jersey based news channel that I'm on. It's called on
- 0:30Speaker 1: New Jersey appropriate right. You could stream it live or

- 0:47Speaker 1: all over the world. It's free and it is at
- 0:49Speaker 1: Thefooddude dot us. Good to be here with you. We
- 0:53Speaker 1: got a lot to talk about today to wrap up
- 0:55Speaker 1: the busy newsweek, but we want to hear from you.
- 0:57Speaker 1: The phone lines are open one to eight hundred three
- 1:00Speaker 1: two one zero seven to ten. Massive flooding in New
- 1:04Speaker 1: York and the tri State yesterday did you get caught
- 1:07Speaker 1: in any of that? Man? Oh man, the wind, the storm,
- 1:10Speaker 1: it was like a nor'easter, but it wasn't. I guess
- 1:13Speaker 1: officially it wasn't a nor' easter, but nonetheless a huge front.
- 1:16Speaker 1: We had one to three inches of rain, depending on
- 1:18Speaker 1: where you were. But some of the low lying areas,
- 1:21Speaker 1: like we know southern Brooklyn, the coastal areas, they were
- 1:24Speaker 1: under feet of standing water and people in basement apartments
- 1:27Speaker 1: got really flooded. At least two people have died that
- 1:30Speaker 1: we know of, so our prayers for them. Just awful,
- 1:34Speaker 1: awful rain. And speaking of awful rain, awful news. In Jamaica,
- 1:40Speaker 1: Hurricane Melissa causing at least fifty nine deaths that we
- 1:44Speaker 1: know of so far, because it's possible that as they
- 1:47Speaker 1: get through all the destruction, the devastation, they may find
- 1:50Speaker 1: more people. Just widespread destruction. A mother talks about how
- 1:55Speaker 1: she's helping her children through the disaster. I tried to
- 1:58Speaker 1: be strong with them, and what deep inside I'm crying.
- 2:02Speaker 1: I'm really really crying. What your slight hid it. We
- 2:08Speaker 1: will survive, we will survive, we will survey it. Amen
- 2:11Speaker 1: to you, and I mean amen to that. Just an
- 2:14Speaker 1: awful storm that was a Cat five Category five hitting
- 2:17Speaker 1: Jamaica at one hundred and eighty five miles an hour.
- 2:19Speaker 1: I think it's it's ranked the worst, if not one
- 2:21Speaker 1: of the worst storms to hit Landfall in terms of
- 2:25Speaker 1: power in the Atlantic. It's just amazing. Back at home,
- 2:29Speaker 1: the mayor's race continues to tighten. But is it too little,
- 2:33Speaker 1: too late? Here were the three candidates at a recent debate.
- 2:36Speaker 2: I am the last person on this stage that mister
- 2:42Speaker 2: Trump wants to see as mayor.
- 2:44Speaker 1: I am Donald Trump's worst nightmare, as a progressive Muslim
- 2:47Speaker 1: immigrant who actually fights for the things that I believe in.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Oh, if you believe Andrew Como, who's calling up Trump
- 2:53Speaker 2: all the time, I'm going to stand up to him
- 2:56Speaker 2: and Doammy. I'm going to stand up to him. You
- 2:58Speaker 2: stand up to President Trump, who controls all the money.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Guess what we the citizens lose now. Andrew Cuomo was
- 3:04Speaker 1: on with Larry Minty on MENTI in the Morning today.
- 3:06Speaker 1: He recently received an infusion of some cash one and
- 3:09Speaker 1: a half million dollars from former mayor and billionaire Michael
- 3:13Speaker 1: Bloomberg through a political action committee. The question, again, is
- 3:16Speaker 1: is it too little, too late Now, three polls were
- 3:19Speaker 1: released this week and they show the Cuomo has improved
- 3:22Speaker 1: his chances, but that was only four days to go,
- 3:25Speaker 1: so it looks like it's going to take a miracle
- 3:27Speaker 1: at this point. The closest poll is I guess the
- 3:30Speaker 1: Quinnipiac University poll, and that one is showing Cuomo within
- 3:34Speaker 1: ten points of mamdanni. And while lot's of nice improvement,
- 3:38Speaker 1: you remember, it only takes one vote, that's it. If
- 3:40Speaker 1: mam'm donnie has one more vote than the next person,
- 3:42Speaker 1: that's it. There's an Emerson College poll that has mam
- 3:45Speaker 1: donni twenty five points ahead of Cuomo, and the Marist
- 3:49Speaker 1: poll has mum donnie sixteen points ahead. So I don't
- 3:52Speaker 1: mean to be the negative Nelly here, but I don't
- 3:55Speaker 1: see how it gets pulled off. Nonetheless, you never know,
- 3:58Speaker 1: because not everybody goes voting for mayor. You have a
- 4:01Speaker 1: lot of people who sit it out, go and vote.
- 4:03Speaker 1: You may surprise yourself and everybody and change things. So
- 4:07Speaker 1: we'll see where it goes. By the way, recent survey
- 4:10Speaker 1: shows that that get this, sixty nine percent of anyone
- 4:16Speaker 1: under the age of fifty in New York supports mam
- 4:19Speaker 1: donni yeah. Let me let me repeat that. Sixty nine percent,
- 4:25Speaker 1: so nearly seven and ten of all New Yorkers under
- 4:29Speaker 1: the age fifty and under. Now it's not twenty an
- 4:32Speaker 1: under or thirty and under fifty an under, as I
- 4:35Speaker 1: like to say, they should know better by then they
- 4:38Speaker 1: support Mam Donnie. So at this point, all you on
- 4:41Speaker 1: the right, I say we should sit back, get a
- 4:43Speaker 1: bag of popcorn, and watch as New York implodes with
- 4:47Speaker 1: liberalism and socialism because it doesn't work. It has failed everywhere,
- 4:52Speaker 1: it's been tried. Everything that Mamdanni wants to give you free, free, free,
- 4:56Speaker 1: free has to get paid for by someone from somewhere,
- 5:00Speaker 1: and that money doesn't exist. And you can't have rent
- 5:02Speaker 1: control you know where he comes in, it takes over
- 5:06Speaker 1: and freezes rent. That is done by the rent Control Board.
- 5:10Speaker 1: That's state law. You can't just come in and say,
- 5:12Speaker 1: well I'll sign a mayoral proclamation. Well good luck with that.
- 5:15Speaker 1: It's not enforceable. So this is going to be interesting
- 5:18Speaker 1: to see. And by the way, everybody was like, yeah,
- 5:20Speaker 1: we should freeze the rent. Yeah, I wish we could.
- 5:22Speaker 1: The problem is the city keeps imposing all these rules
- 5:25Speaker 1: on landlords, so they have to maintain their buildings, which
- 5:29Speaker 1: is fine and they should, but that costs money. It
- 5:32Speaker 1: costs millions of dollars. People have this misconception that every
- 5:36Speaker 1: landlord is a billionaire sitting back counting their money, and
- 5:40Speaker 1: that's not always the case. In many cases, it's people
- 5:42Speaker 1: who inherit a building from a relative or whatever, and
- 5:45Speaker 1: now they have to maintain it or they have to
- 5:47Speaker 1: distress sell it. In the meantime, the city comes in,
- 5:49Speaker 1: it says you owe taxes, you have to keep it heated.
- 5:51Speaker 1: If there's anything that breaks down, you got to fix
- 5:53Speaker 1: it immediately. There are all these rules and rags. So yeah,
- 5:57Speaker 1: while there are some landlords who are very wealthy, many
- 5:59Speaker 1: are not. So don't don't paint with such a broad brushes.
- 6:02Speaker 1: What I'm saying seven ten wo R The Voice of
- 6:06Speaker 1: New York. It's Ken rozottow In from Mark HALLOUWENI Friday.
- 6:09Speaker 1: What are you dressing up as today? Phone lines are
- 6:12Speaker 1: open eight hundred and three to two, one zero, seven
- 6:14Speaker 1: to ten. There's a New Manhattan Institute poll that shows
- 6:18Speaker 1: it if Congresswoman Elise Stephanic from upstate New York. If
- 6:22Speaker 1: Elise were to run against Kathy Hochel for Governor of
- 6:25Speaker 1: New York. Stephanic would beat her right now by one point.
- 6:29Speaker 1: New York City may be blue, but the state is
- 6:32Speaker 1: definitely purple. So while poles are just a momentary snapshot
- 6:35Speaker 1: of opinion, it does show you that New York State
- 6:38Speaker 1: is very much up for grabs and the citizens are
- 6:41Speaker 1: just fed up with the status quo. Flip over to
- 6:44Speaker 1: the garden state, New Jersey. It's a whole different story.
- 6:47Speaker 1: Two poles two days apart have Mikey, Cheryl and Jack
- 6:51Speaker 1: Chiarelli a point apart, well within the margin of error.
- 6:56Speaker 1: This was him last night, by the way, during a
- 6:58Speaker 1: town hall that Sean Hannity had with Fox News Channel. Listen.
- 7:02Speaker 1: As he entered the room, let's go.
- 7:17Speaker 2: Hometown crowd, hometown crowd, it just became, it just became
- 7:23Speaker 2: a Trump rally.
- 7:24Speaker 1: To that, Chitterrelly responded, No, it's a Chitterrelly rally, which
- 7:27Speaker 1: I thought was kind of interesting. Guy that left a
- 7:29Speaker 1: little silence in the room. Jackson, nice man. I've interviewed
- 7:33Speaker 1: him myself on my show several times and here actually
- 7:35Speaker 1: had him on here once while I filled in for
- 7:39Speaker 1: I guess no, while yeah, I filled in for Larry
- 7:41Speaker 1: that day. Hard to keep track, but he's a great guy.
- 7:45Speaker 1: We've invited Mikey Cheryl on this show when I'm in
- 7:49Speaker 1: filling in. We've invited her on the show I do
- 7:51Speaker 1: in New Jersey probably fifty times. You actually get, let's
- 7:56Speaker 1: just say, a negative response. They want nothing to do
- 7:58Speaker 1: with with having her talk to media of any kind
- 8:01Speaker 1: except for MSNBC, where they feel they'll have a friendly audience.
- 8:05Speaker 1: That's it. So we'll see what happens. You know, you
- 8:08Speaker 1: have till Tuesday. Early voting in New Jersey is through
- 8:11Speaker 1: this Sunday, so you can go and early vote till Sunday.
- 8:16Speaker 1: Otherwise Monday there is no voting Tuesday. You vote in
- 8:19Speaker 1: person and that's that. Then we'll I think Tuesday night's
- 8:22Speaker 1: going to be a very very late night. When asked
- 8:25Speaker 1: about the polls, Jack Chidarelli had this to say, especially
- 8:27Speaker 1: the early returns.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Our internal polling in twenty one, said that we had
- 8:31Speaker 2: a real shot this time. The internal polling says a
- 8:34Speaker 2: whole lot better. But listen, all I could tell is
- 8:36Speaker 2: wherever I go around the state, the energy is electric.
- 8:39Speaker 2: The reception of minority communities has been overwhelming positive and
- 8:42Speaker 2: when Democratic mayors across the state are endorsing in the
- 8:44Speaker 2: Republican nominee. It tells you we're on the summer.
- 8:49Speaker 1: Yeah. So there are four people in New Jersey who
- 8:52Speaker 1: either are still Democrat and endorsed him, or are These
- 8:55Speaker 1: are council members and mayors or actually left a Democrat
- 8:58Speaker 1: party altogether and joined the Republican Party and endorsed and
- 9:01Speaker 1: support him right now. So all the police unions are
- 9:05Speaker 1: all behind in the fire departments, they're all in support
- 9:08Speaker 1: of Jack Cheddarelli. When I said the early early polling
- 9:12Speaker 1: or early results, what I meant was the early voting
- 9:16Speaker 1: that occurred. Jack talked about the early ballots.
- 9:20Speaker 2: We've seen the greatest number of Republicans returned vote by
- 9:22Speaker 2: mail ballots. That's a very very good sign. And they
- 9:24Speaker 2: went out in last third week of September, and we're
- 9:27Speaker 2: matching them voter for voter here in the six days
- 9:30Speaker 2: or five days of early voting that we've had thus far.
- 9:32Speaker 2: That'll conclude on Sunday. Listen, if we go into election
- 9:35Speaker 2: day within a certain number of points, we're going to
- 9:36Speaker 2: win this thing.
- 9:37Speaker 1: And now, just because a larger number of Republicans return ballots,
- 9:44Speaker 1: that doesn't mean every single Republican is going to support
- 9:47Speaker 1: the Republican candidate. I many chances are they will, but
- 9:50Speaker 1: you know, you never know. So same thing for the Democrat.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Just because they were talking about, oh, Mikey Cheryl is
- 9:56Speaker 1: edging out Cheddarelli in terms of a return of the ballots,
- 10:00Speaker 1: we've got more Cheryl or more Democrat ballots coming in. Again,
- 10:03Speaker 1: that doesn't mean that they're all voting for Mikey Cheryl.
- 10:05Speaker 1: If they're all Democrats sending their ballots in, it could
- 10:09Speaker 1: go the other way. But overall, generally speaking, probably ninety
- 10:12Speaker 1: five percent or more will support their respective candidates and
- 10:16Speaker 1: their respective parties. Now, one thing I find that's interesting
- 10:18Speaker 1: if you go back four years this week exactly one
- 10:22Speaker 1: week actually before election day, four years ago, so a
- 10:25Speaker 1: little under four years ago, there was a Monmouth University
- 10:28Speaker 1: poll that had Governor Murphy eleven points ahead of Jack Chittarelli.
- 10:34Speaker 1: As is typical, all the polls tend to skew to
- 10:37Speaker 1: the left, and they always give a better showing for
- 10:40Speaker 1: whoever the Democrat is. But so even though the polls
- 10:43Speaker 1: showed Murphy was eleven points ahead just days before the election,
- 10:47Speaker 1: he only won by three points, so the polls were
- 10:50Speaker 1: off by eight. Well, if that holds true today, if
- 10:53Speaker 1: Chittarelli is behind or ahead, say just by a point,
- 10:57Speaker 1: or they're tied as the polls are showing right now,
- 11:00Speaker 1: generally has a real shot. He may even win by three,
- 11:02Speaker 1: four or five points. You never know, but you have
- 11:05Speaker 1: to have to have to vote. If your parents are
- 11:10Speaker 1: elderly and have difficulty getting to the polls, make sure
- 11:13Speaker 1: they have a ride. Okay, if you drive and your
- 11:17Speaker 1: friends don't, make sure they have a ride. Make sure,
- 11:20Speaker 1: no matter what, try to early vote if you can.
- 11:22Speaker 1: And if you want to go on election day, then
- 11:24Speaker 1: make sure you get there. Don't. I tend to say,
- 11:27Speaker 1: you never know. You could get stuck at work late.
- 11:29Speaker 1: You never know, you may wake up late. I would
- 11:33Speaker 1: try to early vote if you can between now and Sunday.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Don't take the chance. But make sure, no matter what,
- 11:38Speaker 1: whether it's New York City now or New Jersey, get
- 11:41Speaker 1: out and vote. And then the other thing I want
- 11:43Speaker 1: to ask all you folks in Jersey, don't just vote
- 11:47Speaker 1: for governor and call it a day. You have every
- 11:49Speaker 1: Assembly seat up for grabs, and there's one Senate seat
- 11:53Speaker 1: down south. It's to fill a vacancy. Make sure you
- 11:57Speaker 1: vote down the ballot, and if you want to send
- 12:00Speaker 1: a message and you are voting for the Republican candidate
- 12:03Speaker 1: for governor, vote A lot of people say, yeah, I
- 12:05Speaker 1: vote for Republicans for president and governor, and then I
- 12:08Speaker 1: vote Democrat for the local offices. Not a good idea.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Not a good idea because you end up causing gridlock.
- 12:15Speaker 1: You've had listen in New Jersey right now. The governor's
- 12:18Speaker 1: a Democrat, State Assembly, state Senate, the Supreme Court all
- 12:21Speaker 1: Democrat control, all of them. You have the top fifteen
- 12:25Speaker 1: cities in New Jersey run by Democrat mayor's Democrat administrations.
- 12:30Speaker 1: The top fifteen all right in New Jersey goes only
- 12:32Speaker 1: about nine and a half million people. You have both
- 12:36Speaker 1: US Senate seats occupied by Democrats, and you have nine
- 12:39Speaker 1: of the twelve Congress seats US Congress seats that are
- 12:43Speaker 1: occupied by Democrats. So you've already given Democrats a shot.
- 12:47Speaker 1: And New Jersey has the highest the energy builds in
- 12:50Speaker 1: the nation, some of the highest taxes, the highest cost
- 12:53Speaker 1: for pupil with not always the greatest return depending on
- 12:56Speaker 1: what district we're talking about. So if you are tired
- 12:59Speaker 1: of the expences and the regulation and allowing adult men
- 13:05Speaker 1: in girls' bathrooms because they wake up thinking they're women. Enough.
- 13:10Speaker 1: If you're tired of the sanctuary state and sanctuary city
- 13:12Speaker 1: status of New Jersey, stop voting Democrat. It's as simple
- 13:16Speaker 1: as that. It's like the definition of insanity. You keep
- 13:19Speaker 1: doing the same thing over and over again, expecting a
- 13:21Speaker 1: different outcome. Not get off try something different for once.
- 13:25Speaker 1: I was reading some of the blogs last night. It's
- 13:27Speaker 1: amazing how many people who were complaining about the cost
- 13:30Speaker 1: of energy and the cost of taxes and homes and
- 13:33Speaker 1: everything else, and they were saying, but vote blue. What
- 13:36Speaker 1: are you expecting to change? What do you think is
- 13:38Speaker 1: suddenly Mikey Cheryl is just a different person, And all
- 13:41Speaker 1: the people running for Assembly on the left are different,
- 13:43Speaker 1: They're all the same. Mikey Cheryl supported everything, Joe Biden
- 13:48Speaker 1: put up everything. So don't expect the difference if you
- 13:51Speaker 1: keep voting Democrat. Now. The Democrat shutdown is on day
- 13:55Speaker 1: thirty one. Senate Majority Leader John Thune says the Democrats
- 13:58Speaker 1: seemingly never wanted to end. It was also a disturbing
- 14:01Speaker 1: signal the Democrats are way to continue this shut down.
- 14:06Speaker 2: I guess forever.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Well, there may be a solution. President Trump is suggesting
- 14:10Speaker 1: the Senate use the so called nuclear option. So right now,
- 14:13Speaker 1: when you have a spending plan that goes from the
- 14:15Speaker 1: House to the Senate, and it has to go in
- 14:17Speaker 1: that direction, it starts in the House, then a spending
- 14:19Speaker 1: plan goes to the Senate, the Senate must pass any
- 14:22Speaker 1: spending plan with sixty votes, okay, otherwise you could have
- 14:26Speaker 1: a filibuster. So you need at least sixty votes. Republicans
- 14:29Speaker 1: only have fifty three members of the Senate, so you
- 14:32Speaker 1: need those Democrats to help. Now. Right now, a couple
- 14:35Speaker 1: of Democrats have come across, but there are still five short,
- 14:39Speaker 1: so they need five more Democrats to make this happen.
- 14:41Speaker 1: All we're talking about is a continuing resolution, not a
- 14:45Speaker 1: spending plan. The continuing resolution would simply continue the spending
- 14:50Speaker 1: plan passed last year. That was Biden's spending plan passed
- 14:53Speaker 1: by Democrats. And all the Republicans are asking is you
- 14:56Speaker 1: continue it for four more weeks, But the Democrats don't
- 14:59Speaker 1: want to do it. Chuck Schuma got to put my
- 15:02Speaker 1: glasses at the tip of my nose when I say
- 15:03Speaker 1: his name to get in the mood. Chuck Schuma is
- 15:07Speaker 1: saying that no, we will not budge. Okay, Now tomorrow
- 15:11Speaker 1: you will have forty two million Americans not receiving Snap benefits,
- 15:14Speaker 1: so no food stamps. People are going to rely on
- 15:17Speaker 1: soup kitchens and whatnot, thanks to the Democrats. Because every Republican,
- 15:21Speaker 1: I think one, only one Republican in the Senate is
- 15:24Speaker 1: not voting for this. Everyone else has voted for this.
- 15:27Speaker 1: So it's the Democrats. This is the Democrat government shutdown,
- 15:30Speaker 1: the Schumer shutdown. Don't let them tell you otherwise, because
- 15:33Speaker 1: every Republican is trying to reopen the government right now.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Even CNN is showing that Americans believe this is the
- 15:40Speaker 1: fault of the Democrats. President Trump's approval writing has actually
- 15:43Speaker 1: gone up a point since the government shutdown has taken place.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Seven ten wo R the Voice of New York. Mark
- 15:50Speaker 1: has the day off. Kenras Outov filling in. We'll take
- 15:53Speaker 1: your calls next one eight hundred three two one zero
- 15:56Speaker 1: seven ten. Partly sunny today, highs mid fifties, just win.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Make sure you bundle up tonight for the trick re
- 16:02Speaker 1: treating and just a bit we'll speak with New Jersey
- 16:04Speaker 1: Republican state Senator Michael Testa about the federal Schumer Democrat
- 16:09Speaker 1: government shutdown on the fact that's starting tomorrow we'll have
- 16:12Speaker 1: eight hundred thousand New Jersey Snap recipients not getting their
- 16:15Speaker 1: Snap benefits. So that is a horrible thing. We hope
- 16:19Speaker 1: this can get resolved soon. The time now ten twenty
- 16:21Speaker 1: two will be right back
