- 0:01Speaker 1: Boom boom boom boom boom bum bum bum boom bum
- 0:04bum bum bum bum boom boom boom bum bum bum. Hi,
- 0:20welcome back to another Spire podcast episode. Thank you for
- 0:23joining us.
- 0:24Speaker 2: My name is Fulton, my name is Nick, and my
- 0:27name is Michael.
- 0:28Speaker 1: And today what we are talking about, first of all
- 0:32Spire of course, how that's going in our lives, what
- 0:35we're doing, what's been some recent since the last episode,
- 0:38Spire activities, you know. But then today's episode is going
- 0:44to be how Spire has helped us to cultivate friendships
- 0:50and especially our friendship with each other and with other
- 0:53people in our lives. And then why that is a
- 0:57good thing. And it's going to be our take on
- 0:59on that top. So any opening comments, I'll so then
- 1:06the opening question, all right, guys, and we should yeah.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Good thing, all right, huh, we have to do the
- 1:14daily Spired thing.
- 1:15Speaker 4: That's right, okay, Father.
- 1:17Speaker 1: Son, Holy Spirit, become, Holy Spirit be with us in
- 1:22this conversation, bless all of our listeners. Help us to
- 1:26have a conversation that brings you into everything that we
- 1:31talk about.
- 1:36Speaker 4: Amen, Amen, Holy Spirit.
- 1:41Speaker 1: All right, Well I'll start us off. Get that out
- 1:43of the way real quick. Let's see. This was two
- 1:49days ago Friday, I think Saturday. What I did for spiritual,
- 1:58what I've been doing is I was able to go
- 2:01to Mass in the morning, which was nice, and I
- 2:03prayed to Rosary and then I I have been reading
- 2:11a book by Saint Therez, The Story of the Soul.
- 2:15Speaker 4: That's a one. Yeah.
- 2:16Speaker 1: So and then I had a cool thing where I was.
- 2:18I was I had to go somewhere. This was Sunday,
- 2:21I think, yeah, but it kind of plays in spiritual.
- 2:24I was going to a friend's house, but I was
- 2:27at one place and I was like, I don't want
- 2:29to drive all the way home then go all the
- 2:30way there. So I was like, I'll stop at ICD
- 2:32the church. I stop there, It's locked. Like great, that's locked,
- 2:37So I walk away. I texted Shoon Deneen. I'm like,
- 2:40do you happen to know the And then this random
- 2:46guy pulls up and he walks up to the church
- 2:48and I was like, are you going in there? And
- 2:49he goes, yeah, do you want to get inside? And
- 2:51I was like yes, and his name is Jacob. We
- 2:53go inside. He kneels down, he shows me what the
- 2:56code is and then he leaves. He was an angel. Anyway,
- 3:02that was a cool story.
- 3:03Speaker 2: That's cool. You just like shut up, let you in
- 3:07and left.
- 3:07Speaker 4: Yeah, it was weird cool yep.
- 3:11Speaker 1: So always looking out for me. Tell you what physical,
- 3:15I've been doing leg workouts because my knee hurts massively,
- 3:19but I know that I could be doing better. I
- 3:21don't do any pushups, and I've said that I was
- 3:23going to do that, but I have not been doing that.
- 3:28But I will start continuing to do that. I'm still
- 3:30continuing the basic stuff. And then for intellectual, I was
- 3:35listening to a podcast, and then relational, spending time with
- 3:39the family, especially conversations I was having with my dad
- 3:45and my mom. And then evangelical. Did not do anything
- 3:50very evangelical that day, yep, apart from just try to
- 3:55love where I was called to and then whenever I
- 3:58couldn't do it, it was.
- 3:59Speaker 5: Like, I'll pray about that, so nice, all right, I'll
- 4:04go Saturday, but then I'll also give you one other
- 4:07day of.
- 4:07Speaker 2: My physical because I like hacks spiritual.
- 4:11Speaker 5: So Saturday, it was the first Saturday. I did not
- 4:13know this, but there's a first Saturday devotion thing. So
- 4:17I went to Mass and then some dude went up
- 4:19and was like, if anyone wants to stay for the
- 4:21first Saturday devotion, I'm like cool. So it's basically just
- 4:26I mean, it's effectually a Rosarie and then some other
- 4:28prayers and it's a dedication. I forget the details of it,
- 4:32but that was my spiritual. It was cool to pray
- 4:34Rosary with a group of people. My physical was I
- 4:38went on a couple mile hike, a unicycle for a bit,
- 4:42and I went climbing. It's a beautiful day outside, so
- 4:45I just like, I'm going to live life. I did
- 4:47no homework and that was rough. My intellectual Oh no, actually,
- 4:52I was going to give you my pro tip for
- 4:54physical yesterday. My physical was sitting in the sun, reading
- 4:58and basking. It's like, sometimes you just got to enjoy
- 5:02the physical aspects of life and it doesn't have to be.
- 5:07Speaker 2: Sweaty stuff.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Yeah hmm, I'm with that.
- 5:11Speaker 5: Yeah, it also allows me to be lazy on Sundays. Intellectual,
- 5:18I listened to like four Biblin a year episodes on
- 5:21the long drives back and forth and stuff. Yeah, relational,
- 5:29this was hiking, but I had got I went hiking
- 5:31with a couple of friends and I socialized with a
- 5:35couple of random people at.
- 5:36Speaker 2: The climbing gym, which was fun.
- 5:38Speaker 5: Uh for my evangelical I was gonna in a discussion
- 5:42I was having hiking with my friends, I was talking
- 5:45about being a man of my word and just like
- 5:48to share what that means to be a man of
- 5:50my word. You know, I'm not gonna, well, I fail
- 5:54at this definitely, but I'm not. I don't want to
- 5:57just arbitrarily say yes to things like someone brings something up,
- 6:01like do you want to do this? Yes? Two days
- 6:02later no, because that's me like flaking out on that
- 6:07and whatnot. And so it's just like the discussion of
- 6:10that with a couple of people, like that's evangelizing because
- 6:12I they they now think of that too.
- 6:16Speaker 3: Yeah, Okay, I'm going to do today because I don't
- 6:20think that any of us have done.
- 6:22Speaker 2: I have not written down today's Yeah.
- 6:25Speaker 3: So spiritual. I went to confession this morning on my
- 6:30way to school, also at ICD.
- 6:33Speaker 2: So drove all the way down to ICD then window.
- 6:39Speaker 3: But other opportunities to go to confession will like get
- 6:42up at six A.
- 6:43Speaker 2: That's a good point.
- 6:43Speaker 3: Yeah, I didn't really want to do that.
- 6:45Speaker 5: Sometimes if you just want to go on a Monday
- 6:46morning's like, I got one option.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Yeah, And so I just called the parish office and
- 6:50I was like, I have some time I go to confession. Cool,
- 6:54So I did that. It was my spiritual physical going
- 7:00to go play volleyball after this.
- 7:02Speaker 5: Does that count if you haven't done it yet? Well, oh,
- 7:05you're making a plan for today. Yeah, so it does count.
- 7:08Speaker 3: So that was my in my mind, I'm thinking that
- 7:11will be my physical thing. Intellectual. On the way here
- 7:16and earlier today, I watched slash listen to like three
- 7:22father Mike videos, to Father Greg Greypine videos, and then
- 7:26another one all about friendship, because I'm trying to come
- 7:29more prepared to these so that I don't just say stuff.
- 7:33Speaker 5: Well, I come with twenty four years of experience, probably
- 7:38like thirteen years of.
- 7:40Speaker 2: We'll have a discussion on that.
- 7:41Speaker 3: Never mind, continue, I'm still gonna be in coherent and
- 7:44say a lot of stuff that I probably don't mean,
- 7:46but maybe I'll be a little bit more prepared and
- 7:47say a little bit less of it. That was intellectual relational.
- 7:52I hung out with Dominic and Seth, my friends at
- 7:56the student center at Aumsel today on our brain.
- 8:01Speaker 4: Dominicos Tomson.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Yeah, that's why every time you've been sick, I've tried
- 8:08to get him.
- 8:08Speaker 5: To do this with us, because he could just drive
- 8:10up with.
- 8:12Speaker 3: He hasn't done it yet. If you hear this, Dominich,
- 8:14you should.
- 8:15Speaker 2: Michael convinced dominic I've been trying. I love him.
- 8:20Speaker 3: So that was relational and then evangelical. I'm gonna do
- 8:24a little bit of a cop out and say I'm
- 8:25doing this podcast because is it a cop out? It's not,
- 8:29because ultimately the goal of this is too evangelise, So.
- 8:34Speaker 5: Whether or not as successful does not change the fact
- 8:36that you're evangelizing.
- 8:37Speaker 3: I'm trying. I'm doing my part. What happens after that is.
- 8:41Speaker 2: Up to God and the other person.
- 8:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Sweet, well, we hope that you at home are also
- 8:54it's fire. If you are using it is helping you
- 8:57to clarify your day, get things accomplished, stay consistent. We
- 9:06hope that it's not a burden but a blessing.
- 9:10Speaker 5: Now moving on a challenge nonetheless, though if it's easy,
- 9:14then it's boring. If it's easy, how's it helping you go?
- 9:17So not a burden, I would say a challenge.
- 9:24Speaker 2: Because if it's just super easy.
- 9:25Speaker 5: Then it's like you don't need to have the the
- 9:28the the visual aid because you're good on your spiritual life.
- 9:33Speaker 2: But I don't think it's easy for anyone.
- 9:35Speaker 1: So we're good.
- 9:41Speaker 2: I'm an expert.
- 9:42Speaker 1: Okay, so not a burden, but a good cross.
- 9:51Speaker 4: That's a good Wait a minute.
- 9:54Speaker 1: Okay, So the question that we're going with today or
- 9:58not the question, I guess the subject that we're going
- 10:00to share our personal perspective on is how Spire helps
- 10:06us to cultivate our friendships in our individual lives. So
- 10:11to start us off, we'll go with spiritual. So within
- 10:14the spiritual domain, the things that you do spiritually, how
- 10:18does that influence friendships? How does it help you to
- 10:21cultivate friendships? And what's your experience been, especially after trying
- 10:27to think about it in this framework.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Michael, okay, I want to I just wanted you to
- 10:38go first.
- 10:39Speaker 3: If you have something to say, I can think about it.
- 10:45So spiritual, I think that for me as far as
- 10:48doing my Spire stuff, doing Exodus together, I don't know
- 10:55if that really counts as spiritual parts of it are
- 11:00I go to Mass every Sunday anyway, but going to
- 11:05Mass with the group of people. Most of us go
- 11:08to Mass together ISH on Sundays, so that and then
- 11:15doing this with you guys, I would consider be at
- 11:18least a little bit spiritual doing Bible in the year
- 11:22together and just studying scripture and stuff. I think a
- 11:28lot of the things that have checked off the spiritual
- 11:30box for me have been very much community based and
- 11:37focused on all of us working together to help each
- 11:41other to grow spiritually. I'm not gonna say it as much.
- 11:48I think you mentioned maybe your prayer life helping your relationships.
- 11:57I'm not going to speak as much to that just
- 11:59that you can, but I definitely think that a lot
- 12:03of the communal spiritual things have been what I've been
- 12:07focusing on and let with my spier stuff, just going
- 12:11to Mass together, doing the Bible in the year and
- 12:16reading scripture together and stuff like that, where a lot
- 12:19of my spiritual stuff has been very community based, where
- 12:23I'm not doing it alone and it's acting as kind
- 12:29of a catalyst catalyst for me cultivating better holier friendships.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Interesting, do you find it easier to be in friendships
- 12:41doing that stuff and like you then like that stuff as.
- 12:44Speaker 3: Opposed to it's definitely it's definitely easier for me to
- 12:48do things like the Bible in the year where I
- 12:51might want to do it on my own time, but
- 12:56I still have a hard time keeping up with it.
- 12:59Sometimes I can do it every day, but as far
- 13:03as actually like studying it, I guess and reading into
- 13:07it more and kind of trying to understand it, definitely
- 13:12doing it with other people has been massively helpful in
- 13:16that because with the way in my brain works, I
- 13:20could sit with one little thing for a year and
- 13:24like not really understand it. But then if I try
- 13:27and explain it to other people, even if it's kind
- 13:30of convoluted when it comes out of my mouth, it
- 13:31helps me to kind of understand it better being with
- 13:34other people. And if you say something and somebody else
- 13:37is like, I don't know how I feel about that,
- 13:38they can you can bounce it off of them and
- 13:40they can be like, I think this is probably what
- 13:42you meant or what you're trying to say, this is
- 13:44what I think about it. So and then again going
- 13:47to mass and other stuff like that. So it's super
- 13:52motivating for me to have the ability to do it
- 13:54with other people.
- 13:56Speaker 4: Nice.
- 13:58Speaker 5: Yeah, I'll, I'll, you know, talk about some of those
- 14:01same points, Like definitely doing prayer related things spiritual like
- 14:08things with others is a beautiful thing. Like the greatest
- 14:13prayer we have is the prayer of the Mass, and
- 14:16the greatest part of the Mass is what is called
- 14:19the Eucharist or communion. Like Eucharist is like a synonym
- 14:23of communion in some way, and so like the greatest
- 14:27gift we have on this earth is something that is
- 14:30called communion, and so we're called to share that with people.
- 14:34We're called to share that in a communion, and.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Like that that's truly.
- 14:41Speaker 5: A good way of building up your relationships with people.
- 14:46Like I remember back in high school, I think my
- 14:48biggest spiritual difficulty was that I wasn't sharing anything spiritual
- 14:55with my friends. So like all of my friends are Catholic,
- 14:58so it's like it's not like we were talking about
- 15:01drugs or other bad things or whatnot, but like we
- 15:07just did stuff together and that was it. But now
- 15:10that like when I went off to college and I
- 15:12was sharing spiritual stuff with friends on retreats and whatnot,
- 15:17small groups settings and just really sharing like that, that's
- 15:24done so much for my spiritual life. And I can
- 15:26definitely tell the difference in the spiritual life and also
- 15:29in the friendships because now that you know, I'm back
- 15:33in town, all of these high school friendships that I
- 15:36that I had that were like good friendships are now
- 15:39becoming so much more because I'm sharing spiritually with people,
- 15:44you know in the Exodus groups, like we go to
- 15:45Mass together and then go just talk at lunch afterwards,
- 15:50and other things that I'll bring up in the other
- 15:55discussions because it relates more to his say, intellectual and
- 15:59it's just it does truly a lot. And I think
- 16:02that the aspect of spiritual helps your friendships in two ways.
- 16:06One is this way of communion where you share something
- 16:09with another person and that is a beautiful thing. And
- 16:11the other way is the spiritual growth of self. A
- 16:14better understanding of self helps you become a better person,
- 16:19and in becoming a better person, you become a better friend.
- 16:22So even doing stuff on your own prayer wise, grows
- 16:26your friendships with other people because you better understand what
- 16:29love is and friendship is a type of love. And
- 16:35if you can grow in your spiritual life, that's growing
- 16:36in love with God and that will necessarily have huge
- 16:40impacts on.
- 16:42Speaker 2: Your friendships.
- 16:43Speaker 1: So that's totally been my experience too. I think that
- 16:48one of the Let's see in which one one of
- 16:52the things that Father Gregory Pine talked about in that
- 16:56episode that he did or the talk that he gave
- 16:59it c is he said that, I mean, it's the pretty,
- 17:02it's the age old thing of good friends have a
- 17:05common goal. But one thing he said that stood out
- 17:09was your the quality of your friendship is the quality
- 17:16of the thing you have in common. And so I
- 17:20always had a lot of like we I mean, I
- 17:25was had a lot of friends friends, I had friends
- 17:30that the friends that I did have a lot of
- 17:37the time, the thing that we had in common was
- 17:40never really good. And so I thought that I had friends.
- 17:49But what he said that was so interesting was he goes,
- 17:53the quality of your the type of common good that
- 17:57you have is this sort of is how you determine
- 17:59the quality of that friend. So if you have a
- 18:01friend where you guys are both doing something like where
- 18:05you're using something like, you have a useful friend. Yeah,
- 18:09but it's not really like you two are both on
- 18:11a mission sharing in that together where you're sharing your
- 18:14life with them as you're pursuing the same things. And
- 18:20I think I've really come to appreciate that recently, especially
- 18:23when it comes to spiritual stuff because of things like this,
- 18:27or like doing spirit Alive with Everybody, because that was
- 18:31like an entire friend group that I had not really
- 18:34hung out with for high school and I had other
- 18:37friends where are what we had is the common denominator
- 18:40was just whatever. It was just human. It was just
- 18:45purely human. There was no real pursuit of something higher,
- 18:49sort of what's fun, what's cool, what's in and then
- 18:54and then that was it, and so it was very
- 18:56like it always ended up being very empty. You really
- 19:01don't realize that until you do experience when you chase
- 19:05after something that's deeper and more real than everything, and
- 19:09then you have somebody that all of a sudden is like,
- 19:12oh yeah, I see that too. You're like, oh my gosh,
- 19:15it's such a different experience, right, And so doing like
- 19:19we do the Theology of the Body little meetings where
- 19:23we're reading about the same theology basically, and it's just
- 19:28really cool to be talking to people that are after
- 19:31the same thing because you can share part of your
- 19:34heart that's been like really important to you recently and
- 19:37they're like, yeah, I know what you're saying, because they're
- 19:40going through the same thing, because this is directed by
- 19:43the same spirit, and it's a good spirit. And so
- 19:46I think that that's been the most one of the
- 19:49most beautiful aspects as far as this my spiritual life
- 19:52grows with friendships, is just being able to actually, like
- 19:56you said, share it and talk about it with people
- 20:00and then really get to just get to experience that.
- 20:05It's just really nice. You're not so isolated, you know,
- 20:08because I think it's hard in the world where it's
- 20:10like not everybody is really on the same page. Everyone's
- 20:13beliefs differ so drastically, and yet we're like right next
- 20:16to each other, and so it's nice to have, you know,
- 20:19that that big common thing in place.
- 20:21Speaker 5: Does Father Gregory Payne watch watch our podcast because we
- 20:24talked about that that concept in our first Relational episode.
- 20:27It's like he must have gotten it from us.
- 20:30Speaker 1: I assume he's not telling anybody about us.
- 20:35Speaker 5: Thanks, Yeah, but no, that that was really cool to
- 20:37just like. And we also touched a bit about some
- 20:40of the other topics too. But then how about physical
- 20:44How does physical bring us closer?
- 20:51Speaker 3: I think for me, at least a large majority of
- 20:55the things I do with other people are physical things.
- 21:00Speaker 2: But yeah, I think our physical things sorry that.
- 21:05Speaker 3: Hey, I mean, yeah, though I know you are, but yeah,
- 21:10like if I go do something with my friends, I'm
- 21:14physically doing something like you can sit there and you
- 21:17can pray together, and that's spiritual. But if you're doing
- 21:22an activity that's like a physical thing. I play with
- 21:24a wall in multiple different leagues. Now, we go to
- 21:27tournaments and stuff that's say physical game that you do
- 21:31with other people. It's a team sport, it's not you're
- 21:33not just doing it by yourself. It's not golf. I
- 21:38guess golf is a physical thing. But you can use
- 21:40golf to grow closer to people too, even though you're
- 21:43not playing together necessarily. Yeah, you can use it to
- 21:46build your relationship because you have time still. So I
- 21:50genuinely feel like for me, it's as simple as the
- 21:54physical things are the things that you just do with
- 21:57other people or the things that you do with a
- 22:00people fit into the physical thing. I don't that one
- 22:04isn't really that deep. I feel like it's kind of
- 22:06how is it easier?
- 22:07Speaker 5: Is there a specific way it's affected you that you
- 22:09could like pinpoint or is it just like.
- 22:10Speaker 3: I don't know that it's something that I could pinpoint
- 22:14and say it. Now that I've been trying to do
- 22:17aspire every day, this has changed my perspective on that because,
- 22:21like I said, the majority of the things I do
- 22:23with other people have always been the physical things, and
- 22:27the physical things have always been the things that brought
- 22:29me closer to other people through sports and whatever.
- 22:33Speaker 1: Are you talking physical like activity like exercise type stuff.
- 22:36Speaker 3: Yeah, because I mean, like I could say I drove
- 22:39here and I walked up the stairs and I sat
- 22:41down in the chair, and that was physical with you guys,
- 22:43And I'm talking I could say that.
- 22:45Speaker 5: I guess, I mean, did you driving here, walking up
- 22:47the stairs and sitting down improve your friendships with us
- 22:50in a particular way?
- 22:51Speaker 3: I the podcast? I hope so. But yeah, I mean
- 22:55just I don't know that I could really pinpoint it
- 22:58because it's just what I've always done, and it's always
- 23:01been that's always been the thing that brought me close
- 23:04to other people. Now, I guess I could also add
- 23:06music into that, but that's a whole other thing. But yeah,
- 23:09I feel like that one's really simple for me.
- 23:11Speaker 1: I think that's been my experience too, is being able
- 23:13to share. I'm sure it's it's a pretty common way
- 23:19that people because really that's like when you're playing sports
- 23:22or you have a game, that's a pretty clear common thing,
- 23:26and so you get to have the teamwork and competition
- 23:29and like begetting to be there and there's an environment
- 23:31where you guys are doing something, then there's not so
- 23:34much pressure on like a conversation or like you can
- 23:37only really talk and share so much, and then it's
- 23:40kind of like, okay, how can we you know, like
- 23:43what are we going to do now?
- 23:44Speaker 5: There's such a different personality here on the exact opposite
- 23:48of things. You can only do so much physical before,
- 23:51like well you like.
- 23:53Speaker 3: Talking more than you like to do physical stuff, but
- 23:56you continue interesting personality.
- 23:58Speaker 1: Yeah, And so I think that that's been a huge
- 24:03blessing for me too, because I've also become closer to
- 24:06friend groups and people when you have some physical activity
- 24:11and it's so much more fun. Like we had a
- 24:13bunch of people from work all go and play a
- 24:15big basketball like a bunch of basketball games. That was
- 24:18like so much fun because everyone was there. It was
- 24:21like when they were jokes. Then you've got stories, memories,
- 24:24you got like a little bit of competition there, and
- 24:27so I love that stuff.
- 24:28Speaker 3: I'd also say, like, I'm not great at meeting people
- 24:32or like getting to know new people. That's never been
- 24:34one of my strengths. But the number of people that
- 24:36I've met and gotten to know through doing like wiffleball
- 24:41for instance, and playing with them and against them. There's
- 24:46so many people that I could name that I never
- 24:48would have met outside of that that I now talk
- 24:51to and I play in other leagues with and tournaments
- 24:53and stuff that I never would have met if I
- 24:55wasn't doing that with them. And even if we're together,
- 24:58like we could all be somewhere to other in just
- 25:00a big group where we're not doing anything and I
- 25:02probably wouldn't talk to them, But the fact that we
- 25:05have this physical thing that we're doing in common has
- 25:09helped me to grow closer to and meet a lot
- 25:13of people.
- 25:13Speaker 1: M hm.
- 25:14Speaker 3: So yeah, it's almost the biggest one for me actually,
- 25:18but not quite cool So then I guess, yeah.
- 25:24Speaker 5: Yeah, for me, I'm gonna say the almost the opposite.
- 25:28It's probably one of the smallest ones for me now
- 25:31to be fairs like I definitely do grow a lot
- 25:35with like the physical ways I interact with people, but like,
- 25:40I'm not that much of a sports person, like I
- 25:42enjoy playing sports with people, going to play volleyballs, like yeah,
- 25:44it's a little fun, but is like I don't think
- 25:47of it as like, oh and now that I played volleyball.
- 25:49Speaker 2: With you, it was like a much better friends.
- 25:50Speaker 5: I'm just like, yeah, we just played volleyball together, like
- 25:52so what, which is why I like, I can see
- 25:55the huge distinct difference in our personalities because I remember
- 25:58at theage with the body which we were both at
- 26:02in a break time, you know, I was just like
- 26:04stayed where I was and I talked to twevers around me.
- 26:06It's like you walked outside and you were throwing a
- 26:08football and I just like and I looked at it
- 26:11was like, yeah, he's growing right there. It's like and
- 26:15just that a difference like me just to randomly throw
- 26:18around the football and was like I get bored after
- 26:20like two minutes. Interesting, which which is so which is
- 26:23so crazy because I remember back in high schools, was
- 26:27it youth group where everyone was kicking out of water
- 26:29bottle around each other? How many times can you kick
- 26:31up a water bottle? I found that so boring. Most
- 26:35half of the time. So most of the time I
- 26:36was just off with with the leader or a couple
- 26:38of other people just having come save while everyone else
- 26:40is just like, we got seventeen kicks, let's.
- 26:42Speaker 3: Go even a co op and stuff, and we would
- 26:45go out and play football or with the wall whatever.
- 26:47I feel like you didn't really come out for that.
- 26:49Speaker 5: I was like fifty to fifty for me, because if
- 26:51if there was someone who was staying in this in
- 26:53the classroom who I wanted to talk with, I would
- 26:56stay and try to talk with them, but you know,
- 27:00I would go out and play football. I was like,
- 27:01it was a bit fun, but I'm not good at football. Yeah,
- 27:05I I catched a couple of balls. Yeah, But honestly,
- 27:09there is a way I do really enjoy physical interactions
- 27:13with people, and that's enjoying nature, going out and hikes.
- 27:17I went on a spring break trip with friends to
- 27:18the Smoky Mountains and that was beautiful and it's just
- 27:22like I was doing with people to too and just
- 27:23look at the beauties of the world and to hike
- 27:25with people. And so in that way it has helped
- 27:29me and I grew in friendship through that. There was
- 27:33also the conversations that I have on the hike, you know,
- 27:35the hike I did on Saturday with a couple of friends.
- 27:39If we were just hiking and not talking, I felt
- 27:41a little.
- 27:41Speaker 4: More awkward, Like I felt bad. Why did I make
- 27:43them come?
- 27:45Speaker 1: Like?
- 27:45Speaker 5: We had good conversations, And so that's that's what I
- 27:47view as. It's like, like the physical is the thing
- 27:50that puts us in the same place at the same time,
- 27:54so that we can we can grow in friendship through conversations.
- 27:56Speaker 2: That's my way of viewing, like how physical helps me.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I guess it's not necessarily the actual physical act
- 28:02sometimes it is.
- 28:04Speaker 1: Sure, I think throwing.
- 28:06Speaker 3: In baseball isn't the actual act that gets me closer
- 28:10to the other person though, it's like just kind of
- 28:14the surrounding.
- 28:15Speaker 5: If I ever become a dad, though, throwing a ball
- 28:18with my kid, we'll grow.
- 28:20Speaker 2: So close together.
- 28:21Speaker 5: It's awesome just because it's throwing a ball.
- 28:23Speaker 2: It's like there's no conversation.
- 28:24Speaker 3: It's like, I guess, I guess that's true actually because
- 28:28you could do it and not say a word.
- 28:29Speaker 1: And it's really physical presence too, Like just being around
- 28:32people and not having to talk is yeah.
- 28:36Speaker 5: Oh, if you if you can get to that, like
- 28:38to to understand that silence is okay, to just like
- 28:40physically be together is a good way of being fringe
- 28:45and not just be like we haven't talked for the
- 28:47last two minutes. Oh no, do we hate each other now?
- 28:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:51Speaker 5: Pro tip if if you're working on relationships stuff with
- 28:54you know, a significant other, Uh, silence is good. If
- 28:57it's silent for a couple of minutes, that's not a
- 28:59bad thing. Complete side check. I don't know why I
- 29:01said that, continue I.
- 29:02Speaker 1: Was gonna say, does so In Father Gregory Pine and
- 29:07his talk, he was like, one of the one important
- 29:10thing that we don't think about is physical touch and
- 29:12physical contact, and we're all kind of like so isolated.
- 29:15Like in other countries. I feel like people are so like,
- 29:17you know, huggy, touchy whatever, and some people like that,
- 29:21but I don't feel like we are like, no one
- 29:24is like that. I got like the dirtiest look from
- 29:26this lady because I shook her hand in church.
- 29:28Speaker 4: She did that. What dude?
- 29:29Speaker 3: There was an umsol. There was this girl that I
- 29:34was talking to in class and she said something about
- 29:37how she's an international student. So I don't remember where
- 29:41she's from. But she just said something about she came
- 29:46to the UMSOL and she was so shocked because everybody
- 29:49sits so far apart and nobody talks to each other,
- 29:52and they all just look like they want to be alone.
- 29:54Speaker 1: Right.
- 29:54Speaker 3: It was just she's not used to that at all,
- 29:56because it's not like that other place.
- 29:57Speaker 5: Destiney a cultural thing I and it's very much like that.
- 30:02Sometimes I'm like a little uncomfortable with how much they
- 30:05touch and it's.
- 30:06Speaker 3: Like, oh, sometimes it's a bit too much. But there's
- 30:10a balance for sure.
- 30:11Speaker 1: See, I feel like we're missing out on something about that,
- 30:14though there is because there is like a human element.
- 30:17I'm here with you when you're comfortable touching another person,
- 30:20and it's not like weird. Yeah, well, like why is
- 30:24it weird?
- 30:24Speaker 5: It is such an important part of our lives because
- 30:26if you think as a baby, the most one of
- 30:30the most important things that you can do for your
- 30:32child when they're a baby is to hold them. Like
- 30:36physical skin to skin contact does so much good for
- 30:39the baby, not just like in a relational sense, but
- 30:42just like it helps them like just be healthy somehow.
- 30:47I don't know how it works, but it does. Oh,
- 30:49I know, and so it's like, yeah, that physical touch
- 30:51and we just don't do that. It's like the so
- 30:54many people, like I think with some friends and I'm like,
- 30:58I don't know the last time like we made a physical.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Context, right, I know for a handshake.
- 31:04Speaker 5: The only thing is like dapping people up or the
- 31:07handshake stuff.
- 31:07Speaker 1: And it's like, but have you have you guys ever
- 31:09okay recently like hugged, like given your friend a real hug.
- 31:15Speaker 3: You do like the dap up and you come yeah,
- 31:18like I be full on hug. I hugged all of
- 31:21my family. I hadn't seen it ten years yesterday. Does
- 31:24that count?
- 31:24Speaker 2: Yes, I guess it counts.
- 31:27Speaker 1: I'm talking like your friend, like someone that you just aren't,
- 31:29like you said you don't have contact, and then you
- 31:31like give them a hug for something.
- 31:32Speaker 3: I think I haven't really, but I think it's because
- 31:35I've been so far removed, Like we as a culture
- 31:38have been so far removed from it. So I'm almost
- 31:40like uncomfortable with it, right because we're just not used
- 31:42to it at all. So it's kind of like if
- 31:44it happens, I'm almost a little it's almost like this
- 31:46is gay, but it's it's not.
- 31:50Speaker 1: It's just so used to doing human Yeah right, it's human,
- 31:53but we think it's gay for I mean.
- 31:55Speaker 5: It depends on like the friend group, because like the
- 31:57group I hang out with you Michael Is, we don't
- 32:00really do the physical touch beyond like wapping up. But
- 32:03like my college friend group that there's a lot more
- 32:07you know, physical contact, like a lot more hugging and stuff,
- 32:10and it's it's a good thing.
- 32:12Speaker 2: It's like a good hug and can do quite a lot.
- 32:14Speaker 3: And there's definitely a balance, like you don't want to
- 32:16go around just like pull on just like the street,
- 32:22just walk in volleyball and just like.
- 32:28Speaker 2: You don't a girl you don't know make it.
- 32:32Speaker 1: I have to know boundaries. But I mean I feel
- 32:34like like he.
- 32:35Speaker 5: We hold ourselves too far apart with the boundary.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Yeah, Like I feel like there's such an isolation because
- 32:40we just feel like it is really like you just
- 32:42want to be alone. That's exactly how I feel too,
- 32:44where I just I don't even want to be around
- 32:46people at times.
- 32:48Speaker 3: I think COVID played a big part in that, at
- 32:53least for me. The fact that we were forced to
- 32:56be separated from people for so long mess with me.
- 33:00Speaker 1: A lot, I know, and it's like you can get
- 33:01away with it nowadays too, Like you don't have to
- 33:04be around people. So then you're like.
- 33:06Speaker 5: Why would Then that leads to depression.
- 33:09Speaker 1: And then you get depressed, and that leads to legitimately.
- 33:11Speaker 2: I think that's one of the reasons.
- 33:13Speaker 5: One there's many of the reasons why depression is such
- 33:16a prevalent thing in today's society is because it's very
- 33:19common in America, a little less common in other cultures,
- 33:22and it's like we just don't touch, and that depresses
- 33:26people somehow.
- 33:27Speaker 2: I don't know how it works, but it does.
- 33:29Speaker 3: Yeah, So we're talking about physical for a little bit. Intellectual,
- 33:36I know you're gonna like this one.
- 33:39Speaker 1: I'll keep, I'll keep or if you think I'll do whatever,
- 33:42I don't care, I'll just I'll keep mine short. I
- 33:44think intellectual is like one of the most fun ways
- 33:49to get Like obviously, you get to know someone a
- 33:51lot by the ideas that they think and the things
- 33:54that they believe, and so I think you're get to
- 33:57have conversations kind of challenging people's arguments, seeing where they stand,
- 34:01how they think, kind of like the verbal intellectual sparring
- 34:07or you know, just kind of talking out. Yeah, I
- 34:11think that that's really cool, and that's how I've gotten
- 34:13to know a lot of my friends. A lot of
- 34:15the ways that we relate is by thinking of ideas,
- 34:19talking about them, sharing what we've learned, sharing arguments, sharing
- 34:23ways of engaging with reality. And that's been like, that's
- 34:25like so much fun. I have that with my dad too,
- 34:28Like our friendships very much, what we think, how we feel,
- 34:32what we've learned, how that plays into what's going on.
- 34:36Speaker 5: I'll say, like this, the Spire podcast that we do
- 34:39together is an intellectual thing that we do together, and
- 34:42it's made so much betterferends to both of you. Like
- 34:45I've learned so much and I think we've all gone
- 34:48close to because of it, and it's a beautiful thing.
- 34:51But yeah, Like this semester, I've really been getting into
- 34:54discussion groups, just like a weekly thing where you just
- 34:58get together and talk about a specific topic with a
- 35:00group of people. I'm doing with like.
- 35:02Speaker 2: Three different groups.
- 35:04Speaker 5: It's like I got so many different things and it's
- 35:05such a cool thing to just get together and look
- 35:09at a topic together and discuss it. And like that
- 35:13just does so much and I've grown so much more
- 35:15in my ability to make friends in that way.
- 35:20Speaker 4: You know.
- 35:20Speaker 5: It's like I go a couple of weeks ago, I
- 35:23went for the first time for one of these discussion groups.
- 35:26It's like I knew one person in there. Everyone else
- 35:29was ranging from my age to like sixty, and.
- 35:32Speaker 1: I was like, this is weird.
- 35:35Speaker 5: But it's like when we started talking about stuff, I'm like,
- 35:37this is fun. And it's like, I know you're like
- 35:40twenty five years older than me, but like it's fun
- 35:43to talk with you, yeah, and to understand how you think.
- 35:45And something that I've said a lot is that I
- 35:47think that one of the coolest things that I can
- 35:51see is that I love seeing how people think. Yeah,
- 35:57I love seeing how they interpret things, how they look
- 36:01at stuff, because they don't look at it like me.
- 36:04Speaker 4: Typically.
- 36:05Speaker 5: There's some people that do, and it's like you're a
- 36:07weird person, and it's like wait, yeah, but it's like
- 36:13to just see how they think and how they look
- 36:15at stuff, And those are the types of conversations that
- 36:18have have just really done so much for me and
- 36:21my friendships. That's what really like when I think about
- 36:26my high school years is like the conversations I had
- 36:29with people were the most influential things with my life.
- 36:33I remember very few conversations I ever had with people
- 36:36because it's not the conversation itself that truly affects me.
- 36:41It's just them sharing their mind with me and me
- 36:45vice versa. When I went off to college, it's like
- 36:50a friend group that i'm really close friends with now
- 36:53was formed by we stayed after Mass on Wednesday night.
- 36:56We have Wednesday night masses up there, and we just
- 36:58stayed around. We've played some games, but sometimes it's just
- 37:02talking until three am, just sharing conversations or just like
- 37:06someone who have questions like this question and it's something
- 37:09like are we closer in.
- 37:10Speaker 2: Dignity to God or in ants? And it's just like
- 37:13we just discuss it and it's just talking about stuff
- 37:15and it's cool.
- 37:17Speaker 5: And and getting into like I want to think about
- 37:21that now. It's a good one, getting into discussions with
- 37:25people to see how they think. Just it does so
- 37:28much and I've basically there's some people who you who
- 37:32like first meet and you interact with the bit and
- 37:33you're like it's kind of weird, but then you like
- 37:36have a conversation with them and you can see how
- 37:38they think and understand, and it's like, yeah.
- 37:39Speaker 1: How totally totally changes your.
- 37:41Speaker 5: How does anyone like dislike this person like this? This
- 37:44person's beautiful, Like like just how they think and how
- 37:49they they they.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Yearn for something.
- 37:52Speaker 5: It's like that's one thing an intellectual It is just
- 37:54a yearning. If you share that yearning of wanting to
- 37:58learn something. It's just like if you look a kid
- 38:00who's just like, what is a tree and just like
- 38:03climbing its like you just want to learn and.
- 38:06Speaker 2: Like that that does so much.
- 38:07Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's good. I would basically just say the
- 38:15same thing. Honestly, I I feel like for me, the
- 38:18intellectual part of it is just understanding how people think,
- 38:23because like you just said, there will be so many
- 38:26times when I see somebody do something, I'm like, why
- 38:29the heck did you do that? That doesn't make any
- 38:32sense at all? And I'll think that for like the
- 38:36longest time. I just feel like they're so weird they
- 38:40do this, and I'll talk to them and then just
- 38:44like learn how they think, and I'm all of a sudden,
- 38:46I'm I just I think that makes so much sense
- 38:50now why you would do that? Because this is like
- 38:52your perspective, this is how you saw it. I saw
- 38:55it differently, and I see now how you saw it.
- 39:00Were you gonna say something, so I was gonna ask
- 39:02for an example. Yeah, I can't think of a specific example,
- 39:06but let me try.
- 39:11Speaker 2: I could talk a little bit. If you don't, If
- 39:13you haven't thought.
- 39:14Speaker 3: Of something, okay, I'll say this. This isn't the best example,
- 39:18but this is what I thought of a second ago
- 39:19when you said some people I think differently from you,
- 39:24some people think similar. And me and Nick have always
- 39:28talked a lot because we've talked about this before where
- 39:32we were both like the quiet kids in co op
- 39:34and so we were like the quiet kids kind of together.
- 39:37So we would just almost be forced to.
- 39:39Speaker 1: Be together, but we were together basically.
- 39:44Speaker 3: But sometimes I would see you do something and I'd
- 39:48be like, that's weird because I feel like that's how
- 39:50I would approach it. Or sometimes i'd see you do
- 39:52something I'm like, that's weird because it's not how I
- 39:54would approach it. And like, the more I've gotten to
- 39:58know you, and especially in the last a year or so,
- 40:01we talked about this multiple times where we would just
- 40:04sit down and we would have a conversation about the
- 40:06way that we think about things, literally, just about the
- 40:10way that we think. And I would walk away from
- 40:12the conversation being like, that makes so much sense because
- 40:15everything he just said reflects exactly the way that I
- 40:18approached the situation. Or maybe there's some little things where
- 40:21you say, like, oh, I think that I think this
- 40:24about this thing.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Yes, and that's a good idea. I've never thought about
- 40:28doing that, but just like having a conversation with someone
- 40:31about the way that they think.
- 40:33Speaker 3: Yeah, because that's crazy, it's.
- 40:36Speaker 5: Such a good conversation. We've did that up at my
- 40:38college a couple of times.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Just like there's that.
- 40:41Speaker 5: Theory where just like women tend to be spaghetti brain
- 40:44and men tend to be box brain, where we have boxes,
- 40:47we open up, we close it, we open up, we
- 40:49close it, we have one thing we focus on, and.
- 40:51Speaker 2: Women tend to be like bah.
- 40:55Speaker 3: I don't think that's true.
- 40:56Speaker 5: I don't think it's true either, because I'm definitely much
- 40:58more scatched like spaghetty b and categorical. But I think
- 41:03to have that conversation to be like to discuss and
- 41:05it's like and how does that look into life?
- 41:07Speaker 3: Like what we talked about the first time we talked
- 41:10about it. I think it was we were just talking
- 41:15about the way that we see other people and their
- 41:19reactions to us, I guess, and the way that we
- 41:21kind of interpret it. I think that was like the
- 41:23first big conversation like that we had. Yeah, and he
- 41:28just kept on saying things like, oh, I see other people,
- 41:30and I'll say something and then all of a sudden,
- 41:33everything's firing in my brain. I think that they interpreted
- 41:36it this way. You know, they're probably just like acting
- 41:39like they like me with every kind of stuff, and
- 41:41you just try and interpret all of it through the
- 41:44lens of the way that you think. And when we
- 41:47talked about it, we literally were basically just bouncing off
- 41:49each other and we're like, that's exactly how I feel.
- 41:52And I didn't ever realize before that that we approached
- 41:56not everything, but a lot of things the exact same way.
- 41:59Speaker 5: I know, for whatever that conversation last summer, I left
- 42:02him just like it changed my mind.
- 42:03Speaker 3: I was like, trust, that's right. Yeah, yeah, it.
- 42:05Speaker 5: Is after volleyball and everyone else is downstairs just gone
- 42:08crazy or whatnot.
- 42:09Speaker 2: And then and Michael I was just talking is like that.
- 42:11Speaker 5: Like blew my mind, and I learned so much about it, and
- 42:15I was like, that was so cool.
- 42:17Speaker 3: I think it also for me helps me to especially
- 42:22when I see differences in the way that other people think.
- 42:26I guess it helps me to be more patient and
- 42:29more understanding of their actions.
- 42:31Speaker 4: Kind of.
- 42:31Speaker 3: I already kind of said this, but if I like,
- 42:37for instance, there was a time at Almsel where I
- 42:39talked to an atheist. He was an ex Catholic, he
- 42:43was now an atheist who was arguing with me about abortion.
- 42:47But even though I completely disagreed with everything he was saying,
- 42:52it was like listening to him talk, I could kind
- 42:55of understand why he got to the conclusion he did,
- 42:59just because if I put my in his shoes, I
- 43:02obviously I wouldn't have the same reaction, but I could understand, like,
- 43:06this thing happened to him, so now that's shaped the
- 43:08way that he views these things and the way he
- 43:10thinks about this issue. So it helps me a lot to,
- 43:17i don't know, be more understanding of other people's perspectives
- 43:20instead of just writing it off like you're wrong and
- 43:23I know you're wrong and you're crazy. I don't know
- 43:25why you think that way.
- 43:27Speaker 5: So now I was going to use that example, like
- 43:29when you were saying about exampless like because I remember
- 43:31I used to watch like some argument videos where it's
- 43:34like some people discussing like particularly abortion and stuff, and
- 43:39so many people approach this completely wrong. They approach it
- 43:44as a completely just intellectual powerhouse. I can destroy your argument,
- 43:50and if you don't come to understand like who that
- 43:52person is and how they think, you're not going to
- 43:55change their hearts. You're just gonna build yourself up a
- 43:57level of pride saying I'm smarter than you because I
- 44:00can defeat your arguments. And it's like you're not smarter
- 44:04than them because you're not approaching them correctly.
- 44:08Speaker 3: And it's such as them, so it's like you're not
- 44:16even giving good arguments because it's just straw manning who
- 44:18they are and what their argument is.
- 44:20Speaker 5: It's like, sure, they might not be able to present
- 44:21it verbally in the correct way, but it's like that's
- 44:26fine because that's not their argument. The argument is typically
- 44:28more from the heart and more from experience and emotion,
- 44:32and and you need to come to understand that and
- 44:34commiserate and love them, and then that's how you can
- 44:38change hearts and so it's like, yeah, to just to
- 44:42just really understand, I can't, Like, that's just so many people.
- 44:46It's like, yeah, I know you have really weird opinions
- 44:49on some really topics, but I'm like, if I have
- 44:52a conversation with someone, you're a good person, Like I
- 44:55could be a good friend with you. It's like even
- 44:57if you have these weird opinions and that that's gonna
- 45:00clash up, and it's like there's there's something that we
- 45:03can share. There's a common ground between any of us.
- 45:07There's so many people who who thinks like, oh, I
- 45:11could never be friends with this person. We have nothing
- 45:12in common. It's like that just means you're not trying
- 45:15hard enough to find which you.
- 45:16Speaker 3: Actually all have way more in common.
- 45:18Speaker 4: Far more. Yeah.
- 45:20Speaker 5: Anyway, So that's a big thing is like try to
- 45:22understand how someone thinks. If if you want to help
- 45:25someone convince them of what you considered to be the truth,
- 45:29don't try to convince them like you're convincing yourself.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Because they're not.
- 45:32Speaker 5: You understand how they think and approach who they.
- 45:37Speaker 2: Are with the truth. Don't throw the truth at them.
- 45:43Speaker 5: It's like if you walk up to a big atheist
- 45:46like a famous atheist, you take a Bible and you
- 45:48smack them in the head with it and walk away.
- 45:50It's like they're just gonna look at that and throw
- 45:54it away because like they don't care if you do
- 45:58that with an intellectual argument and you smack on the
- 46:00head with an intellectual argument that they never thought about before.
- 46:03Speaker 2: I mean, for some.
- 46:03Speaker 5: People it could work because that could be who they are,
- 46:06But for most people it's like they're just gonna be like,
- 46:09you don't let you hate me.
- 46:11Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I think that plays into the next one
- 46:15that we could talk about. Relational is the biggest and
- 46:20this it plays into evangelical too. But when you look
- 46:23at the sense of ultimately, what this comes down to
- 46:26is like the issue that those people are the thing
- 46:29that they're not seeing when they're it's like, I will
- 46:32destroy your argument, and you know, person gets destroyed. It's
- 46:36like the if your end goal is to destroy their argument,
- 46:40then you're doing But if the end goal no, no, no, oh, sorry,
- 46:45then you're If it is your goal, then you're doing
- 46:48it right if that's the goal. But the goal is
- 46:50not to go around destroying everybody's arguments. The goal is
- 46:53to be christ to these to everyone that you meet
- 46:56all the time. And so if you have true truth
- 47:01and you can speak truth to somebody and in a
- 47:04way the truth can set them free basically from these
- 47:07demons that tell them lies and that they believe in
- 47:10that a whole shebang, then it is good for you
- 47:13to destroy their arguments. But the goal is not to
- 47:17just go about destroying everyone's argument and smacking them on
- 47:20the head with an intellectual argument. It's like, some people
- 47:23need to be presented the truth in love, some people
- 47:26need to be listened to in love, and most times,
- 47:28especially when it comes to topics like abortion and things
- 47:31that are really sensitive and complicated, just telling them what
- 47:38is objectively true is not loving them because they aren't
- 47:43open to receiving something true yet and they might never be,
- 47:49and it ultimately is between them and God. But really,
- 47:52what you're supposed to do is like have some wisdom
- 47:55and prudence in the situation of how you're supposed to
- 47:58love them.
- 47:59Speaker 3: A lot of time, I feel like people also in
- 48:01that situation might know the truth and they're kind of
- 48:05afraid of it, and so you're like, your goal maybe
- 48:09shouldn't be tell them the truth because they might already
- 48:12know the truth. Your goal should be maybe to help
- 48:16them understand it or to help them not be afraid
- 48:19of it.
- 48:19Speaker 1: It's to give them the love of Jesus. That's what
- 48:22it like, That's what you have to do.
- 48:26Speaker 3: There's this quote that I really like, the daily dose
- 48:31of wisdom you could I always talk about and he says,
- 48:38what does he say? I'm literally I just had in
- 48:41my head.
- 48:44Speaker 2: He lost the wisdom.
- 48:46Speaker 3: I lost my daily do wisdom. He says something along
- 48:49the lines of if everybody in the world understood the
- 48:58truth of Christianity, than everybody in the world would be
- 49:01a Christian.
- 49:04Speaker 4: True I'm with you on that.
- 49:06Speaker 1: That so that would I guess to circle back to
- 49:10my initial point was that relational while it's the main
- 49:15point of it, is how we foster and build our relationships.
- 49:18Since this is all about friendship this whole episode, I
- 49:21think my focus, or the way that Spire helps me
- 49:23to think about it is relationships are ultimately the way
- 49:29you relate to people. And then in that relating to them,
- 49:33that's there's like a seeing of another person and a
- 49:37hearing of the other person. And really I think what
- 49:39it comes down to is seeing the Christ and the
- 49:41other person and then it's like you are. It's a
- 49:44much different experience than just knowing somebody, knowing what they
- 49:47like and like laughing with them. There's like a relating
- 49:51to them as to where you are. Both even if
- 49:54you aren't talking explicitly about something deep, you're able to
- 49:57see the depth that they're connect too in a way.
- 50:01And so especially with Spire, I think the things that
- 50:06I focused on in the relational category is that how
- 50:09do I meet people where they're at, but then also
- 50:14see that they have a depth to them that I
- 50:17can't see without like intentional effort, Like it's easy to
- 50:20just kind of glance over, but how can I really
- 50:23see and understand that person and listen to their heart
- 50:27as opposed to just listening to their words? And then
- 50:29how I like, because I think what was cool about
- 50:32when you guys were talking about you know how you
- 50:35think when someone says something, you'll take those words and
- 50:38be like if I was saying those words, what would
- 50:40I be meaning? And then you're like, why would that
- 50:42person do it like that? But then the person is
- 50:45intending to do something else. But we are so not
- 50:48used to looking at like tying to people, like affording
- 50:54to them their own good intentions, and that is something
- 50:57I realized I do not do. I'm very much like,
- 51:01if you say something weird or you act weird, I'm like, okay,
- 51:04I did that. I've learned that that's weird and people
- 51:07aren't gonna like you if you do that. And then
- 51:10if I can just allow my mind to, you know,
- 51:12let go of that for a second and really watch
- 51:15the person in a way that's like, how where is
- 51:18Christ in this person? And then it's like, Oh, they're
- 51:21incredibly unique, and it's like hilarious, how that's shining forth.
- 51:26I always thought that was weird, but that's something that
- 51:29was totally lied And now I've maybe missed the whole
- 51:32part of my personality that this person doesn't like exhibit.
- 51:36And so I think that that's been the biggest thing to.
- 51:38Speaker 2: Get off selfish.
- 51:40Speaker 5: That still of how I think is the correct way
- 51:43how I look at things, as the way the world
- 51:45is right to recognize that other.
- 51:47Speaker 2: People are unique, distinguished people.
- 51:50Speaker 5: Yeah, that's such a good point because when I was
- 51:51thinking it was like, oh, relational, how does relationships help
- 51:55your relationships? I'm like, it's a totology.
- 51:58Speaker 2: It's like whoo.
- 52:00Speaker 5: But then when you're saying, it's like yeah, because so
- 52:02many people it's like I'm friends with this person, and
- 52:06it's like are you truly friends? Do you have a
- 52:08relation with them or is it do you share just
- 52:12physical because we were talking about spiritual, physical, intellectual, and
- 52:15you could share that with people and to grow in
- 52:17a relationship with someone. But like I've thought, it's like
- 52:20I have Like when I was in college, it's like
- 52:23I had physics friends. It's like we were in class
- 52:25together and we shared the intellect of the physics classes
- 52:30we were in, but that was it. So we we
- 52:33didn't create a relationship. It was a physical relationship, but
- 52:39there was or an intellectual relationship or whatever, but there
- 52:41wasn't that sense of understanding the other. And it's like
- 52:46we were all in the same classes basically for three
- 52:47to four years, and it's like we we hung out
- 52:51outside of that like once or twice, and to see
- 52:54just in a different setting people acted differently, it's like WHOA,
- 52:58it wasn't wasn't expecting this And it's like, well, yeah,
- 53:02because all I was sharing with them was the intellectual thing.
- 53:05I wasn't sharing myself with them where they weren't sharing
- 53:08themselves with me, and so like I, I would think
- 53:12that the relational aspect of friendship, I would look at
- 53:16it in the negative sense of it's not the physical connection,
- 53:20it's not the intellectual connection, it's not even the spiritual
- 53:23connection of like praying together, whatnot. There's something individual in
- 53:28the relational aspects, and I couldn't define it. I would
- 53:33never be able to define it, I think, but I
- 53:34could tell you what it's not.
- 53:36Speaker 3: I think the way I would look at it. I
- 53:40don't know if this is exactly the same thing that
- 53:41you're saying, but I think it might be similar. So
- 53:44and then what you're saying about seeing Christs and other people,
- 53:47because that's been the biggest thing for me that I've
- 53:49been thinking about. And I suck at it. I suck
- 53:52it looking at other people and just accepting that's how
- 53:56you are and Christ in them. And I'm like us
- 54:00straight and I get annoyed and whatever. So I'm not
- 54:03really that good at it. But I'm working on that.
- 54:05I'm trying to get better at seeing Christ and other people.
- 54:09And I think that the thing that I've been thinking
- 54:12about this week, especially like getting ready for today, was
- 54:19every single person is made in the image and likeness
- 54:22of God, and God himself is a communion of persons.
- 54:31God himself is a trinity and the Father's Son and
- 54:33the Holy Spirit. And if we're all made in the
- 54:39image and likeness of God, then that might be the
- 54:43unifying thing. Like it, we're all individuals and we're all unique,
- 54:47but our uniqueness isn't what ties us together. It's what
- 54:50we all have in common, which is being made in
- 54:52the image and likeness of God. And being made in
- 54:55the image just likeness of God. We should all share
- 54:58in that communion because that is what God is, is
- 55:01a communion of persons. And so I think for me,
- 55:04I don't think it's the individuality as much as that
- 55:07as much as.
- 55:08Speaker 1: As it's.
- 55:11Speaker 3: The collective identity that we all share. So I don't
- 55:18know if that's I don't know if that's what you
- 55:20were getting at just now, But well.
- 55:23Speaker 5: I wasn't getting at anything. I was getting rid of
- 55:25some things, and so like that that could that could help.
- 55:27But also something you said about like getting annoyed and
- 55:32stuff at people, it's like that's a natural part of life,
- 55:36and so like being annoyed at someone does not mean
- 55:39your relational aspect is bad. It's actually part of who
- 55:43you guys are and how you interact. Well sometimes it
- 55:45could be, but like it's a natural part of who
- 55:49you are and how you interact because obviously you're different people.
- 55:52You're going to clash in some ways and that's gonna
- 55:54result in annoyance at the very basic level and a
- 55:59lot more difficult emotions.
- 56:01Speaker 2: At other levels. But like I was, I was talking.
- 56:05Speaker 5: Yesterday and and you know, last week he told me
- 56:10he just got frustrated at the moment. Its like, stop
- 56:12being so semantic, and he shared that with me, and
- 56:16and then and then we were talking a bit about that.
- 56:18I'm like, I am very thankful that he that he
- 56:20shared that with me, because now I understand him a
- 56:23bit better and I and we can relate a bit better,
- 56:26and I can try to not be so semantic around
- 56:28him too, unless I want to.
- 56:30Speaker 2: Annoy him for fun.
- 56:33Speaker 5: But just like it, being a good friend with someone
- 56:37doesn't mean never being annoyed at them. It doesn't mean
- 56:40never being frustrated. And if you look at it and
- 56:44as never being frustrated, then you'll just disappoint yourself because
- 56:46you will get frustrated, you will get annoyed and you'll
- 56:50be like, oh, I'm annoyed at this person. So now
- 56:53I just got it. I shouldn't be annoyed, So I'm
- 56:54just gonna Lord give me patience. And and then you
- 56:59ignore it, you push it aside, you hide some part
- 57:02of yourself from this other person. Repress, you repress an
- 57:06aspect of how you can relate with another person.
- 57:08Speaker 3: Jesus best friend on Earth was Saint Peter, and Jesus
- 57:13at one point says, get behind me, Satan to Saint Peter,
- 57:16because Saint Peter was being kind of annoying.
- 57:20Speaker 1: I like to do it perfect.
- 57:21Speaker 2: That's cool. I want to view that now as Saint
- 57:23Peter annoying.
- 57:24Speaker 3: Jesus just like maybe he wasn't even trying to be annoying.
- 57:29He was confused, and he was wondering, like what does
- 57:32this mean? Like, no, we're gonna go. I think it
- 57:34was when Jesus is saying that I'm gonna die and
- 57:38you know, I'm gonna saw that, and Saint Peter's like, no,
- 57:41what are you talking about? No you're not Actually we're
- 57:43gonna come with you. And he's confused and he wants
- 57:46to support his friend. But Jesus is like No, that's
- 57:49not that's good, but that's not what's supposed to be
- 57:53happening here.
- 57:54Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't think that Jesus gets.
- 57:57Speaker 3: Annoyed with He's not annoyed, but it was.
- 58:00Speaker 4: You know, annoying.
- 58:02Speaker 5: This is a human emotion. So it's possible that he
- 58:04got annoyed, but of course not annoyed in a sinful way.
- 58:08Speaker 2: Yeah, he Jesus was angry. Jesus is anger. He flipped tables, man.
- 58:15Speaker 5: I mean that's I think the only time in the
- 58:16Gospels where it's just shown that Jesus was angry.
- 58:18Speaker 2: And so that's the.
- 58:19Speaker 3: Curse a fig tree or something one time too.
- 58:22Speaker 5: Yeah, And so it's like those are natural human emotions
- 58:26and Jesus experienced them in a nonsinful way.
- 58:29Speaker 2: So it's like feeling anger the.
- 58:32Speaker 1: Emotion, right, the emotion is not sinful, but it's the
- 58:36way that it's what you do. It's what you do
- 58:39that's sinful or not. So he was. But I think
- 58:43I just want to make a distinction. I think when
- 58:46you say someone is annoying, I think what you're trying
- 58:50to say is like and what I'm trying to say
- 58:51is when you see Christ in another person, nothing that
- 58:54they do annoys you because you, like have the right
- 58:58disposition of gratitude for who they are are, so then
- 59:01they're not their presence is and inconvenience to my will.
- 59:04It's like I've had enough humility and setting of my
- 59:10personal will to power to decide to see that you
- 59:15are just your own person and things that could annoy
- 59:17me would only be annoying me because I'm not getting
- 59:20my way and you're not doing what I want you
- 59:21to do. But if I'm not worried about those things,
- 59:24then I'm more seeing you for who you are and
- 59:26able to see the Christ in you. But because I'm
- 59:29not Christ, I will get annoyed. But that's not a
- 59:34bad thing. It's just that's how human life works. And
- 59:39so it's not like I have to hate myself for
- 59:45being annoyed, but it is like, Okay, if this person
- 59:48is annoying me, what's wrong with me? That's ultimately what
- 59:51it comes down to. And then if your friend's trying
- 59:53to express to you what you do annoys me, that
- 59:57it's not fair of him to be like you do
- 59:59this send it annoys me. Now it's getting it out,
- 1:00:02which is good. It's better than repressing it, but like
- 1:00:04a way that he could do it is maybe understand
- 1:00:07why it is it it annoys him, and then communicate
- 1:00:09to you. You know. One of the things I think
- 1:00:11that hinders our communication is like, you're always kind of
- 1:00:15very semantic. Now, maybe you do it in a joking way.
- 1:00:17Maybe hit the way he did it was in a
- 1:00:19joking way.
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: Oh, I do it because I find it funny and
- 1:00:22not listen.
- 1:00:22Speaker 4: I didn't.
- 1:00:23Speaker 5: Well, no, that's what I do. And I never really
- 1:00:26thought this, like, oh, other people might not find this funny,
- 1:00:28they might find it annoying. And so it's like sometimes
- 1:00:31just like yeah, just be up front and brunt about it,
- 1:00:34and like cool, did I did?
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: I wasn't.
- 1:00:37Speaker 5: I was just like it took me sounds like oh really, okay, okay,
- 1:00:41and then I thought through a billion different possibilities and
- 1:00:43it's like okay, and I understood a lot more and
- 1:00:45I was really thankful.
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: So but I just feel like that is not how
- 1:00:48Jesus would approach it.
- 1:00:48Speaker 4: I feel like Jesus would.
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: Jesus did behind me, but that was because because there
- 1:00:54was the he wasn't talking to Peter, he was talking
- 1:00:58to the spirit. That was like telling Peter. But Peter
- 1:01:03was saying right, so he but he was talking to Satan.
- 1:01:06He wasn't talking to Peter. He just told Peter that
- 1:01:09he loved him, and then he had to make a
- 1:01:11clear distinction that I love you. But when there's a
- 1:01:14voice that speaks through you that is undermining the main
- 1:01:17thing going on, then it's get behind me, Satan. So
- 1:01:19he's not saying get behind me, Peter. He's saying, get
- 1:01:22behind me, Satan. So he's like, there's a fine line
- 1:01:26between just because Jesus was angry at a couple points,
- 1:01:31it's always got a very good reason. Yeah, I guess.
- 1:01:36Speaker 5: I'll agree the time it is that explanation of just
- 1:01:41like we need to be better understanding this or that.
- 1:01:44But like Jesus did feel anger, and he did have
- 1:01:47a right reason, and he went about it in the
- 1:01:49correct way, and so there's definitely a way of doing
- 1:01:52it correctly.
- 1:01:53Speaker 2: Ninety nine percent of time that's not the case.
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: But I do believe there are times in which you
- 1:01:57can be annoyed with people and it's just natural and
- 1:02:01it's not like there's better way you can love them.
- 1:02:03Because some people the voice might just be grading on
- 1:02:06you and it's like I love them and I love
- 1:02:08hearing them and listening to them talk and seeing who
- 1:02:11they are, but for just some reason, their voice annoys
- 1:02:13me and I can't explain it. And it's I don't
- 1:02:15really have anyone in particular there if you're worried about that, but.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Just it's okay if you're annoyed. But I think if
- 1:02:20you pin it on somebody, oh yeah, no, yeah, you
- 1:02:23get on the same page. Or it's like they are
- 1:02:25not an annoyed that they are not annoying. This thing
- 1:02:29is annoying me.
- 1:02:30Speaker 2: Yes, yes, okay.
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: That's all I think trying to get at is that
- 1:02:33it's hard to look past that this is just a thing.
- 1:02:36It's not them because I can't see them as I
- 1:02:38can see because this thing is in the way of
- 1:02:41whatever my judgments are. That's all I was saying.
- 1:02:43Speaker 4: I know, and that makes more sense.
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, maybe that wasn't a very necessary distinction, but.
- 1:02:54Speaker 5: But honestly, we were talking about, you know, get behind me,
- 1:02:56Satan and stuff, and Jesus saying that to Peter, and
- 1:02:58I'm like, I think that tyes and night with event.
- 1:03:02Speaker 2: Oh sorry, I still go ahead, It's fine.
- 1:03:05Speaker 5: Yeah, So how does evangelizing help us with our friendships.
- 1:03:11It's like I brought up the Jesus thing, and it's
- 1:03:13like it's a good way to think about.
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: I would almost say that everything that we've just talked
- 1:03:18about all because the whole Spire thing, you can do
- 1:03:22evangelical things, but the entire purpose is kind of to evangelize.
- 1:03:25Like that's kind of I think evangelical is what ties
- 1:03:29it together.
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: Tell me if I'm wrong here, but I I feel like,
- 1:03:34ultimately what this comes down to, Spire is setting you
- 1:03:40up for having friendships, like ultimately our relationship with God.
- 1:03:45But then really, how like if it all is going
- 1:03:47to lead into evangelizing, we're under the impression that we
- 1:03:51have to go to like foreign lands and find people
- 1:03:54that are super far out that don't think this way
- 1:03:59at all, and then like here's the truth.
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: That'd be easier.
- 1:04:04Speaker 4: Sometimes there might be some truth in that.
- 1:04:06Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah that sounds good.
- 1:04:07Speaker 5: Someone who's never heard about Christianity could be blown away
- 1:04:10by it.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: Yeah, but they culture. Yeah, I know it's tough, but
- 1:04:16that's where I was. I was saying, how do you
- 1:04:19think do you do you agree that ultimately what this
- 1:04:23comes down to his relationships and friendships with people is
- 1:04:26the evangelizing that we're really trying to do. And then
- 1:04:29like the works of mercy and all of that stuff
- 1:04:31is kind of like intentional friendship building almost like you
- 1:04:37build friendships with the home friendships.
- 1:04:39Speaker 5: With bigger distinction. I think that evangelizing. It's like, yeah,
- 1:04:43being friends, like you can evangelize through that. But there's
- 1:04:46very particular ways in which you can evangelize in your friendship.
- 1:04:50And it's not just you know, throwing a ball together
- 1:04:52in a physical way.
- 1:04:53Speaker 2: It's not just.
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: Saying evangelization at the end of the day is about
- 1:04:58But I guess true friends is about wanting to help
- 1:05:02the other person get to heaven, and that's what evangelization
- 1:05:04is trying to share.
- 1:05:06Speaker 5: The ideal of a true friendship is pure evangelization at
- 1:05:11all times with the other just because of a true
- 1:05:13desire and yearning for the goodness of the of the person,
- 1:05:17which is a form of which is evangelization to wild
- 1:05:21the good of another.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: It's like evangelizing.
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: I was called just like to love right and to
- 1:05:25and to share that love with someone.
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: It's not just to like from the sidelines.
- 1:05:29Speaker 5: So it's it's a very visceral interaction.
- 1:05:32Speaker 1: Right, because I feel like any evangelizing is supposed to
- 1:05:34be a sharing of love. So it's like, I'm not
- 1:05:37here to share truth. I'm not here to make you
- 1:05:41do this. I'm not here to give you the right answers.
- 1:05:43I'm not here to make you be Catholic. It's all about, like,
- 1:05:46I'm here to love you, and the way, one of
- 1:05:48the ways in which I love you is pointing you
- 1:05:50to the truth and giving you an opportunity of the
- 1:05:54sacraments and explaining things and helping make things register. And
- 1:05:57you're safe with me and you can trust me, and
- 1:05:59I'm not going to use you or cast you out
- 1:06:02or treat you like your other friends do. I feel
- 1:06:05like that's what I never really got with evangelization. I
- 1:06:07thought it was a big propaganda mission basically, but it
- 1:06:12seems like, really it's about if we have love, we
- 1:06:15actually have the love of God, then when you go
- 1:06:18to people, you are bringing that to them. But we
- 1:06:21think it's all about the truth about the scriptures and
- 1:06:25the Bible, and then it's all about making sure you're
- 1:06:28not committing sin all the stuff, But then we kind
- 1:06:30of miss the that what people need at this point
- 1:06:35is like someone that can look them in the eyes
- 1:06:38almost and like see them and it's not weird, and
- 1:06:41they know how to bring what's necessary to that person's heart,
- 1:06:45like listening to it.
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: And then Christianity is a family, not a political Party's
- 1:06:51kind of the way I would say it. I like that,
- 1:06:53because politics it's all about I'm going to convince you
- 1:06:57of my point of view, and I'm going to give
- 1:06:58you the arguments against whatever. But if it's christian is
- 1:07:03a family and the sharing and body of Christ, then
- 1:07:05you're just the family aspect is more about actually loving
- 1:07:09the people regardless of I mean not you should have
- 1:07:13loved people regardless of what they think.
- 1:07:15Speaker 5: Kind of Yeah, Well, one of my good friends that
- 1:07:19I've met up here, I feel like a significant part
- 1:07:23of our friendship is evangelizing, and it's like I could
- 1:07:28think it's intellectual, but it's like it's honestly not fully intellectual.
- 1:07:32It's just we're both trying to evangelize each other to
- 1:07:36bring us to the truth. He's Catholic and stuff, and
- 1:07:38sort of like we just have great conversations, but a
- 1:07:42lot of the time it's like, how do I bring
- 1:07:45you to be the better version?
- 1:07:48Speaker 4: Of who you are.
- 1:07:49Speaker 5: It's like there's somethings that I struggle with that I
- 1:07:51talk with him and he tries to help me with that.
- 1:07:53There's things he struggles with that he talks with me
- 1:07:54and I try to help with him with that. And
- 1:07:56it's like, honestly, I think the reason why you're such
- 1:07:59good friends is this evangelization.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: Aspect of it.
- 1:08:06Speaker 5: It's like we haven't really done anything physical together, like
- 1:08:09we went on our hike ones. I guess intellectual discussions
- 1:08:12because that's conversations is an intellectual thing. But it's like,
- 1:08:18I think it's the evangelization that that is like the
- 1:08:21core of my friendship with with this guy. And it's
- 1:08:25like he's a beautiful guy, and it's like it's really
- 1:08:28cool to learn who he is and see how he
- 1:08:32thinks and then just to try to share this like
- 1:08:36you you've got a wrong way of looking at things,
- 1:08:39and I have wrong ways of looking at things, and
- 1:08:41we help each other to evangelize each other, to look
- 1:08:44towards the truth, which isn't just a purely intellectual thing
- 1:08:47because it intellectual is just like we could I could
- 1:08:51play a Devil's advocate. It's an intellectual thing. But like
- 1:08:54to try to point each other towards the truth. Like
- 1:08:57you can use intellectual for stuff, but I think that's
- 1:09:01what feeds into my relationship with them that much, primarily
- 1:09:05through evangelizing, which is.
- 1:09:07Speaker 4: Cool, that is very beautiful. Any closing thoughts, I.
- 1:09:22Speaker 5: Think just like we went through Expire and talked about
- 1:09:26how it interacted with friendships, and I've learned stuff like
- 1:09:30this is a good conversations. Like I've learned things on
- 1:09:33each of these topics about how they interact with friendships.
- 1:09:36Speaker 2: And it's like.
- 1:09:38Speaker 5: I'm going to try to see if I can implement
- 1:09:40them better. To think of it, and maybe when I
- 1:09:47have friendships with people and do stuff, maybe I could
- 1:09:50write it in my aspire, things like the physical aspect
- 1:09:53of how I was physically being a friend with someone.
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: Oh protab brings a whole new ass back.
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: Because like maybe I could just throw a ball with
- 1:10:03someone for ten minutes in coll of goods, Like it's
- 1:10:05not strenuous, but it's like it's to share friendship with people.
- 1:10:09It's like it's not the only point to spire, because
- 1:10:12the spires to point us higher, but to point us
- 1:10:14higher with other people. It's like this, so it's like
- 1:10:18just thinks it's like there's so much too friendship.
- 1:10:21Speaker 2: Yeah, and like we talked about.
- 1:10:23Speaker 5: Spiritual, physical, intellectual, relational, evangelical, and every time we talked
- 1:10:26everything we talked about, we accidentally talked about something else
- 1:10:30with it because it's also interconnected. And I think that's
- 1:10:32what's really cool about spires, Like it's not demarcations of
- 1:10:36this thing is spiritual, this thing is physical. There's a
- 1:10:39connection of the spiritual and the physical, which we talk
- 1:10:41about in theology's body. It's like it's not like five
- 1:10:44separate things that you can do that make you better person. Yeah,
- 1:10:48like that five ways of looking at the world, But
- 1:10:51it's the same world we're looking at right.
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: It's all very it's like the very subtle differences, which
- 1:10:58is what's so nice because like if you trying to
- 1:11:00think of like when we try to think of topics,
- 1:11:02we're like, okay, what gag or does this spin under?
- 1:11:05And it's like, well three of the five for sure?
- 1:11:08And I think that's cool too. Yeah, I learned a
- 1:11:10lot cool.
- 1:11:12Speaker 5: But friendship is primarily relationable.
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: All of the others build up into it.
- 1:11:16Speaker 5: But this is an R Like we could put an
- 1:11:18R at the I don't know how to make an
- 1:11:21R with my hand, but we can put an R
- 1:11:23at the beginning of this title, and it's like, this
- 1:11:24is a relational one because it's friendship.
- 1:11:26Speaker 4: And that is true.
- 1:11:27Speaker 5: So some of them, it's like it's definitely one of
- 1:11:29the more so than the others.
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: That's true. But yeah, okay, Well, thank you all for
- 1:11:36listening and being present for those who are at the end, Drew,
- 1:11:40thanks for listening. Got your shirt, but we hope you enjoyed.
- 1:11:45Let us know if there are other topics that you
- 1:11:47would like to have to talk about within the Spire Universe.
- 1:11:52Speaker 4: Universe and extended universe Aspire.
- 1:11:56Speaker 2: We should make a movie series Inspire Extended.
- 1:12:00Speaker 1: Universe spire Man.
- 1:12:03Speaker 2: Character spire Many.
- 1:12:11Speaker 4: Wait you haven't.
- 1:12:12Speaker 3: I thought we made that the first time, the first
- 1:12:17time we talked about the Spire Cinematic Universe. I think
- 1:12:20you said that.
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: Yeah, because my dad when he made the slides for that,
- 1:12:24he has a picture of him as a little kid
- 1:12:26dressed as Spider Man, and he's like, be a spire Man. Anyway,
- 1:12:32all right, we'll say an outro prayer, Father is an
- 1:12:35Holy Spirit, Jesus, thank you for this time. Thank you
- 1:12:39for the ability to have conversations and talk and be
- 1:12:44in a country where we don't have to be afraid
- 1:12:46of that. Thank you for our lives and everyone who
- 1:12:49listens that we get to use the technology that we
- 1:12:53have to try to do something good. Be with us
- 1:12:57the rest of the week, MHM, and bring us back
- 1:13:02here safely next time. Amen, Amen, Amen Space m
