- 0:23Donald Dave, I'm Glenn Jeff Ada Sammer, and then we're Matt Bennett with
- 0:33us tonight and we are shocked our Mistress talking about our new album, Kings
- 0:37of the Revolution. Over to you, Chris, beautiful, gentlemen, thanks
- 0:41for Jonas today. It does indeed look hold down there. Okay, it's
- 0:46freaking freezy, don't. I don't end to you at all. Thanks brother.
- 0:59So aside from the colds, there is some good news today because Shotgun
- 1:03Mistress have released your sophomore album, Kings of the Revolution. So how you
- 1:07feel about it, guys? Oh? Man, Yeah, we're stokes.
- 1:15We've been it's been a long time coming, and we've had this album in
- 1:21our back pocket for a long time. You know, half the album was
- 1:23was already written before the first one was even released, so it's definitely been
- 1:30a while, but it's good to finally release into the world. Yeah,
- 1:33and you know, thanks to everybody for jumping on and purchasing and pre ordering
- 1:38and stuff. We're currently number one on number one overall. Man. Great,
- 1:47yeah, you should have a drink and celebrate that. I wish I
- 1:49had one to have one video. Cheers. So it is the album what
- 1:57fans would expect from Stown mistress. Guys say, you know, we get
- 2:00the interviews with a camp Chris, what's going on? I know I've got
- 2:02the kids tonight, so I'm being a good dad. I'm trying to be
- 2:07a good dad. You're a great dad. And come on, So is
- 2:15the album what fans would expect from John Gunristers or have you thrown a few
- 2:17surprises in there? That's a good question. That was a really good question.
- 2:23I'd like to think so, I'd like to think it's something that's pretty
- 2:25similar to what people would relate to expect from the first one, but I
- 2:30think it's it's definitely personally a step up for us as far as the writing
- 2:37ability is. You know, the first album was a bit of a test
- 2:39to see how we sort of work together right exactly. So this one is
- 2:44definitely something that came I think, a lot easier, quicker. Yeah,
- 2:49and man, the actual production of the track's a really good and there's definitely
- 2:54a lot of different I would just say influences. There's heaps of different from
- 3:00this album compared to the last first one, Early Day Aerosmith and Dizzy Top
- 3:06and yeah, there's a lot more variety in this, I think, yeah,
- 3:09sort of suits everybody instead of just sort of writing to the one sort
- 3:13of content. Yeah, now you've released the singles Judas, Mary Jane and
- 3:19shot Down, So just say that's all someone said of the album. Is
- 3:22that a good sonic representation of the whole thing? Yeah? I think so.
- 3:27Yeah, there's a couple of there's one cheeky little ballad in there which
- 3:30is sort of shines and show shows completely different side to us. Yeah,
- 3:35we're allowed one ballad because we're not on every two today, one every two
- 3:39albums. That's it we are, So we got one every album. So
- 3:53how about give us just say this is his birth anyone who a shotgun mistress?
- 3:58Give us two tracks off the album that you haven't least people listening on
- 4:00Spotify to get engage with the album, two ones that we haven't released.
- 4:05You pick one up another I'm gonna because Matt does the solo. It's probably
- 4:10the weakest tracking the album, but I absolutely bloody love it because it's just
- 4:13just such a driven song, more your stone table pilots or a genre,
- 4:15but a little bit more on steroids, I suppose. And it's called Down.
- 4:19It's the last track of the album. The solo in that is just
- 4:23absolutely fucking insane. It's great. Actually, the solo is pretty good.
- 4:27It's like Hardway three thought I can't be anymore and yeah, look I did
- 4:35mention it's all right before I love It's all right. I'm gonna say that
- 4:39because it's it's like the first song that we've done. It's got a bit
- 4:43of like a bluesy field to it. It's a it's an on the road
- 4:47song. A song. It is a song. It's really fitting for what's
- 4:51ahead in the next few weeks. So very good. Now, Mistress have
- 4:57got a reputations to kick ass and I've been guys, So do you try
- 5:00and replicate that sound and energy in the studio or is it more polished situation?
- 5:06Probably a bit more polished to be honest. Yeah, I mean,
- 5:09I like we like to sort of keep it relatively similarly, and at the
- 5:15same time, we want to put on more than just a performance. We're
- 5:20actually out live. You can't do that in a recording, So we're trying,
- 5:24you know, really not let loose and just sort of have a good
- 5:28time with the fans. Really, that's what it's all about. You don't
- 5:31see a band just sort of standing still and just sort of playing their songs.
- 5:34It's just, you know, it's not cool. It's not rock and
- 5:38wrong around like lunatics and entertain people. That's what it's all about. I
- 5:46love the title of the album, guys like King to the Revolution, Like
- 5:49it's pretty much a powerful statement, isn't it. Absolutely? And the title
- 5:56track Things of the Revolution, which is the first song, was there's only
- 5:59really we don't think written to songs that's been quite political, and that was
- 6:02one of them, and so was what was the other one? Shot down?
- 6:06So they were both written at the height of COVID. So I think
- 6:12one of the good things that sort of came out of that period. And
- 6:15everyone every outs is going to tell you that, man, some really good
- 6:17content came out of out of those horrible years, but you know, it
- 6:20was something that was came out really well for us. So overall, guys
- 6:28like, how would you say Things of the Revolution differs musically to yourself titled
- 6:32album from the first album? Yeah, oh, most Glen's sort of saying
- 6:40before, it's so many different influences for this album than it was for the
- 6:45first album. We kind of, as Glenn was saying before, we're testing
- 6:49the waters on sort of what we could do and what we could come up
- 6:51with, and this one we've sort of really found our feet and everyone sort
- 6:55of knew how everyone worked together and it really came together really quick. A
- 7:00lot more influences into this album, but it feels very familiar for people to
- 7:04kind of just listen to your gun. Well, let's a very really stand
- 7:09from twenty thirty years ago, but with a modern spin to it. Yeah,
- 7:15So along those lines, how much music could break you? Reckon Mistress
- 7:18has left in you? Oh, man, I feel we're just beginning and
- 7:25then we want to write at least twenty albums. We're blessed with the fact
- 7:30that it's taken us to be in our forties to have a band that we
- 7:35feel very secure in. We don't like any of us are going anywhere.
- 7:40We're never once worried about my band and believing or you know, there's never
- 7:44any good quarrels. You know, we have our say and everyone gets hurt
- 7:48and it's literally a matchmade in heaven with this band, and thank the man,
- 7:54it's like we need a lot of seriously with this group, it really
- 7:57is. Next month we broke up probably so emotional. Man. Now we're
- 8:16blessed, absolute bloody blessed the guys that we've got. Matt put us all
- 8:20together. You ain't worked with everybody before prior and then yeah, I think
- 8:24you did a great job on sort of puzzle piecing everybody together, different sort
- 8:28of genres, different backgrounds, and it works. It's like having four personalities
- 8:33like kiss or something like that, four different characters and sort of working all
- 8:37four minds together to create what we've got shock comstress now, which is great.
- 8:41Good share. Now you're going to be taking your your music over to
- 8:45the good folks of Japan from next week. You guys for nine or like
- 8:50you feel about that? Have you been there before? Connie, you are,
- 9:00Dave, I've been there before. Day's never been I've never been over
- 9:03seas unless you class Tazzy has gone overseas. No fast Tatty is as placeful
- 9:07stop it's the Bronx. I'm only kidding. We love it. Tazzy is
- 9:16awesome, but it's gonna be great, man. I think I think Japan
- 9:22is. It was definitely on the cars to do. It's one of those
- 9:26closer countries that really loves rock and roll. It's still quite a prevalent genre
- 9:33over there. I'm like Australia where it's a bit more of a legacy genre.
- 9:37But hopefully, hopefully we can start to change all that. Oh yeah,
- 9:41starting to go international now, so you know, we kind of had
- 9:43to stretch our feet a little bit there and sort of start taking the shower
- 9:46overseas. It was we're done in Australia so many bloody times now, all
- 9:50of the usual spots, and it's just like we need to stretch our legs
- 9:54and it's become you know, get outside of Australia and start to become a
- 9:58bit more of a household sort of branded. So the only way to do
- 10:01it is to start Japan and sort of see where we go from me and
- 10:03you're coming with us, Chris, I'll be I'll be there at the same
- 10:07time. Maybe we're going to rip that place in New On. Absolutely she
- 10:16didn't start to make me thirsty. Stop it. You've got to go to
- 10:22the fridge. This break, after this break of good, she got over
- 10:28with Charlie Jewel, who also released new music today. So you guys have
- 10:33played together before a few times, haven't you. Yeah, we have.
- 10:37We haven we love them. We love that she's she's awesome rock Queen Color
- 10:41Jewel. We love you being able to do a headline tour with that legend.
- 10:45We're very, very happy, And I just got off the phone to
- 10:48her before and she's stoked with how her release is going. So if you
- 10:52guys haven't checked it out, Sad Girl, awesome song. It's a different
- 10:56take on her other stuff, so it's a bit more more poppy, polish
- 11:00type type music, but really good. Absolutely cracker of a song. Actually,
- 11:05chorus in that is such a killer chorus and the just graduate you cannot
- 11:11stop dancing or having fun to do it. And good on Karli and then
- 11:18when you get back from Japan, he at the stage of the Midnight Vels
- 11:22straight out of La on July eight eighth, and Stay Gold. Then you've
- 11:26got Mammal the night after Max Swats and then at the Metro Theater in the
- 11:31twentieth What what are three days through the music? It's gonna be awesome.
- 11:39And then we've got some other shows which we've locked in headline one of the
- 11:43wood Shed on thirty and then twelfth October is the album launch. It's a
- 11:48few months away. You're gonna have a little breather in between, and then
- 11:52we're gonna get out and tee you guys in your asshole and get closer to
- 11:56the end of the year. It's gonna be quite different to the shows we're
- 12:00already done, you know. There's we're gonna probably bring out a couple of
- 12:05the ballads and and play them for the very first time as well, to
- 12:09make sure you get there to see that that one. You only get one,
- 12:13So you guys, choose if you want, which one you actually want
- 12:20makes she never walk alone or welcome to the fight. You choose and we
- 12:24will play it for you. Come and work for you, mate, He
