- 0:15Speaker 3: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered.
- 0:19Speaker 4: Fred and I usually anchor the parade coverage from right here,
- 0:21Speaker 4: and I've never been to.
- 0:23Speaker 3: One parade.
- 0:25Speaker 5: A pu duck boat.
- 0:27Speaker 4: They did, but we're just not on it.
- 0:29Speaker 5: Who's on its scaloy we're working.
- 0:31Speaker 6: I was on the boat.
- 0:32Speaker 4: The Boston area in general, in all four sports, I
- 0:36Speaker 4: think they sometimes have a hard time attracting high end
- 0:39Speaker 4: free agent talent.
- 0:40Speaker 6: But I think it's more also, like in those places
- 0:42Speaker 6: there's other celebrities.
- 0:45Speaker 3: You've got Keith Lockhart.
- 0:46Speaker 7: I don't understand how it gets such a bad specially
- 0:49Speaker 7: if it's not that cold, like grow up.
- 0:51Speaker 3: I mean Bobby Splaine, I think, yeah, Bobby, you know,
- 0:55Speaker 3: he seems like he's ready to do it. Today.
- 0:57Speaker 6: He looked like a company guy of the polo.
- 1:00Speaker 3: You see all these guys guys come up and they they.
- 1:04Speaker 4: The guy who organized it for the team.
- 1:06Speaker 3: Right, It's like, why did't the guy from Food and
- 1:08Speaker 3: Beverage get up lunch?
- 1:09Speaker 6: Paiale guy?
- 1:10Speaker 3: Different voice obviously, he reminds me a little bit of
- 1:12Speaker 3: the leading Mam.
- 1:13Speaker 8: I never got to talk to Sly, but uh.

- 1:30Speaker 3: All right, welcome the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here
- 1:34Speaker 3: at chi Letts Stadium, and boy do we have a
- 1:36Speaker 3: lot to talk about. It's Deuce, it's Evan, it's Paul,
- 1:40Speaker 3: it's me, it's Matt Nabooth and Deuce, you have riled
- 1:44Speaker 3: up Patriots Nation like I've never seen it riled up
- 1:47Speaker 3: before with your one point zero mock draft in picking
- 1:51Speaker 3: Ashton genty fourth. Overall, we're gonna get into all that.
- 1:55Speaker 3: We're gonna have your come at me, bro. Yeah, we're
- 1:58Speaker 3: gonna have your reasoning for that. Yeah.
- 2:01Speaker 8: I look forward to it. I look forward to the conversation, Evan.
- 2:04Speaker 8: Although some people, just a little some people thought I
- 2:07Speaker 8: just did it toatrol not try. I think it's a
- 2:09Speaker 8: word of the little conversation.
- 2:10Speaker 4: And you know, I.
- 2:11Speaker 3: Talked about it, and I'm gonna not that if I
- 2:14Speaker 3: was the person making the pick, that that's the pick
- 2:16Speaker 3: I would make. But I get your reasoning and I'm
- 2:19Speaker 3: going to back you up here. I'm going to back
- 2:21Speaker 3: you up. I don't think i'd have the nerve to
- 2:23Speaker 3: make that pick, but I'm not saying it would be
- 2:25Speaker 3: a bad pick that makes any.
- 2:27Speaker 8: Sense, I understand. I think it's going to be a fun,
- 2:29Speaker 8: fun discussion.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Passionate. All Right, what else we got? What's going on?
- 2:34Speaker 6: Patrid's nation tat mcmillon's running forties.
- 2:38Speaker 5: Almost he got under four to six.
- 2:39Speaker 4: Huh under four six, which is highly in question.
- 2:48Speaker 6: Yeah, that's well. Yesterday Jordan Schultz reports four four eight.
- 2:53Speaker 6: And you know, this is kind of the reason why
- 2:55Speaker 6: people get annoyed with Jordan Schultz because he comes out
- 2:57Speaker 6: and he posts four four eight was his time, and
- 3:00Speaker 6: then the real time start trickling in from everybody else
- 3:03Speaker 6: that isn't his agent or whatever, and it's four four five,
- 3:06Speaker 6: four four seven, you know, something closer to that, But
- 3:10Speaker 6: everybody remembers four four eight because that was the first
- 3:12Speaker 6: thing that was reported.
- 3:13Speaker 3: Yeah, do you think that there's a little bit of
- 3:18Speaker 3: bs going on at the top of the draft with
- 3:20Speaker 3: the report that Tennessee's gonna pick cam Ward But if
- 3:24Speaker 3: another team offered them a boatload, they might be willing
- 3:27Speaker 3: to move down. Do you think that that's a lot
- 3:29Speaker 3: of bs because they aren't. In fact, they don't want
- 3:33Speaker 3: to draft cam Ward, they do want to move down.
- 3:36Speaker 6: Well, this is smoke screen season now. Now we're in
- 3:38Speaker 6: the thick of it. You know, the initial wave of
- 3:40Speaker 6: free agency is over, and so now we're really getting
- 3:43Speaker 6: into Pro Days and draft and this is when all
- 3:45Speaker 6: the false reports and the smoke screens start flying around
- 3:49Speaker 6: as this time of year. And I there's no trades yet,
- 3:53Speaker 6: Like every tip team owns their original draft pick in
- 3:56Speaker 6: the first round, and if that's that hold, it's gonna
- 3:59Speaker 6: be the first time ever that's happened. So I think
- 4:02Speaker 6: that what to me, what Dad tells you is not
- 4:04Speaker 6: a it's not a great draft where teams feel like
- 4:06Speaker 6: we have to have this guy and we have to
- 4:09Speaker 6: move up and we have to move around the board
- 4:11Speaker 6: to secure that player. So I'm sure the Titans would
- 4:13Speaker 6: love to trade out first overall.
- 4:16Speaker 3: To but but see that's my point. If they would
- 4:19Speaker 3: love to trade out, that means they don't think cam
- 4:22Speaker 3: Ward's that good. Because if you really believe cam Ward
- 4:24Speaker 3: can be your quarterback of the future, you're not willing
- 4:27Speaker 3: to trade out.
- 4:28Speaker 6: I don't think anybody thinks he's that good, right, And
- 4:30Speaker 6: that's the problem.
- 4:31Speaker 3: They don't want to pick cam Ward, the same as
- 4:33Speaker 3: the Patriots last year.
- 4:34Speaker 8: I feel like when they kind of knew they wanted
- 4:36Speaker 8: Drake or Jayden Daniels, and we'll listen to offers, but
- 4:39Speaker 8: it's got to be something amazing that we can't turn down.
- 4:42Speaker 8: And we're not gonna put it out there that we're
- 4:43Speaker 8: not listening to offers at all.
- 4:45Speaker 4: So I think it's I'm with Fred. Yeah, I don't
- 4:48Speaker 4: think they have any intention, right or if they take them,
- 4:51Speaker 4: they're going to take him holding their if you believe that.
- 4:53Speaker 4: I don't think they want them. I think the Patriots
- 4:55Speaker 4: wanted me.
- 4:56Speaker 8: That's the goods And I think Fred is right.
- 4:59Speaker 4: I think they're trying to.
- 4:59Speaker 3: Hold Yeah, if you believe that, if you believe in
- 5:02Speaker 3: front of you is the quarterback of the future, there
- 5:04Speaker 3: is no there is no trade offer that would make
- 5:07Speaker 3: you trade down. You've got the guy. They don't think
- 5:10Speaker 3: he's the guy.
- 5:10Speaker 6: Well, just in comparison at the combine, the Bears gave
- 5:15Speaker 6: Caleb Williams the playbook and said get going exactly right,
- 5:20Speaker 6: let's get started. The Jaguars did it with Trevor Lawrence
- 5:23Speaker 6: as well in that draft. There was no question that
- 5:26Speaker 6: that was who they were picking. Now, the networks and
- 5:28Speaker 6: stuff will drum up controversy just to get clicks and
- 5:31Speaker 6: get it, you know, views and stuff like that. But
- 5:34Speaker 6: Caleb Williams was the Bear's picks in basically January, right
- 5:37Speaker 6: of that off season. So this is not the case
- 5:40Speaker 6: with this draft. But I keep coming back to the
- 5:42Speaker 6: same thing, and it's true with the Patriots at four,
- 5:44Speaker 6: like who's trading up? Like if you are sitting there
- 5:47Speaker 6: saying we don't want to pick anybody here. Nobody wants
- 5:50Speaker 6: to pick anyone there, right and there's no there's no
- 5:53Speaker 6: value to the picks. And that's why I think everybody
- 5:56Speaker 6: is staying put right now. And there hasn't been a
- 5:58Speaker 6: major trade in the draft because I just don't think
- 6:00Speaker 6: anybody's worth it in this class.
- 6:02Speaker 3: And I think all of this ties in to the
- 6:06Speaker 3: reasoning for Mike's pick for Ashton genty well, because because
- 6:12Speaker 3: if you look at best players available, Abdul Carter and
- 6:15Speaker 3: Travis Hunter topped the list, and I think you can
- 6:18Speaker 3: make the case after those two from a pure football standpoint,
- 6:24Speaker 3: best of his class could be you know a player
- 6:29Speaker 3: that might have a Hall of Fame future, it's Ashton Genty. Yeah.
- 6:34Speaker 8: I mean I think like a lot of people that
- 6:36Speaker 8: had criticism for it, I don't think Reddit. I mean,
- 6:38Speaker 8: they look at what the graphic is on Twitter, but
- 6:41Speaker 8: they don't really look at the explanation. But I mean
- 6:43Speaker 8: I said, look, if Hunter Carter there, they sign me
- 6:45Speaker 8: up all day long.
- 6:47Speaker 3: But you don't think they will be.
- 6:48Speaker 5: It's I don't think they will be.
- 6:49Speaker 8: And I also don't think Tevan's point that anybody's going
- 6:52Speaker 8: to be clamoring to trade.
- 6:53Speaker 5: Up for the fourth pick.
- 6:54Speaker 8: So you know, for a lot of people who you
- 6:56Speaker 8: know their responsible, so you got to trade out of it,
- 6:58Speaker 8: well okay, but who do you pick if not? And
- 7:00Speaker 8: otherwise you're you're gonna deal with an issue with that position, right.
- 7:03Speaker 8: I mean, Evan just came out with he just dropped
- 7:05Speaker 8: his mock draft to what the slate clean of mine?
- 7:07Speaker 8: You know, clear, clear the clear the board, so to speak.
- 7:12Speaker 8: But you know, well, will Campbell great pick, but some
- 7:14Speaker 8: questions Tech McMillan, I can see it. Some questions, you know,
- 7:19Speaker 8: And that's that's kind of where I came to this
- 7:21Speaker 8: this edition of the month.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Yeah, and I understand where you know Fred's going because
- 7:24Speaker 4: I said the same thing, Like I would not take
- 7:27Speaker 4: Genty at four. I don't necessarily believe in the position
- 7:31Speaker 4: that high. But I completely understand the thought process. I
- 7:35Speaker 4: would just push back and say, well, why is Genty
- 7:38Speaker 4: that guy? Why is it not Tyler Warren? Or why
- 7:40Speaker 4: is it not Will Campbell? To to Evan's point, why
- 7:43Speaker 4: why does it have to be Genty as the next
- 7:45Speaker 4: best player of the draft. Now, if that's Mike's view
- 7:48Speaker 4: and thought, you know, more power to you. But I
- 7:52Speaker 4: don't necessarily look at Genty as like this hall of
- 7:55Speaker 4: fame caliber running back, and if you pass up on him,
- 8:00Speaker 4: you know you're you're losing out on an opportunity. Maybe
- 8:03Speaker 4: he will be, but you know, maybe Will Campbell will
- 8:05Speaker 4: be a Hall of Fame guard, Maybe Tyler Warren will
- 8:08Speaker 4: be a Hall of Fame tight end.
- 8:09Speaker 3: It's all a matter of or the.
- 8:10Speaker 4: Jeojia guys that might. I know Mike likes a lot too.
- 8:12Speaker 3: It's right, it's all a matter of who, though, do
- 8:15Speaker 3: you think is most likely to be the best at
- 8:17Speaker 3: their position?
- 8:18Speaker 9: Right?
- 8:18Speaker 4: I don't think Genty is that I personally I do now,
- 8:21Speaker 4: I just don't think he has that kind of explosiveness.
- 8:24Speaker 4: But here's where I'm going to really defend Mike and
- 8:27Speaker 4: probably irritate Evan because Evan and I are lock step
- 8:30Speaker 4: on the running back thing. But by all accounts, I
- 8:34Speaker 4: haven't really seen very many mock drafts that don't have
- 8:36Speaker 4: genty in the top ten. Somewhere in the top ten.
- 8:39Speaker 8: He went in six, and jeremiahs that he just came.
- 8:41Speaker 4: So was it really like a farce? And we're going
- 8:44Speaker 4: to get to some of the comments that Mike, you know,
- 8:47Speaker 4: got yesterday. Is it really a farce that we're going
- 8:49Speaker 4: to take a guy who was projected at seven at four?
- 8:53Speaker 9: I think?
- 8:53Speaker 3: Is that position?
- 8:54Speaker 4: Is that cause for like revolt?
- 8:56Speaker 3: Well? I think I think I understand. I also understand
- 9:01Speaker 3: where the Revolts coming from. They want to win today.
- 9:04Speaker 3: They who is going to help Drake May the most?
- 9:07Speaker 3: And they're looking at wide receiver and tackle. But that's
- 9:12Speaker 3: the point that I think they're overlooking what a generational
- 9:17Speaker 3: running back.
- 9:17Speaker 4: You refer to this guy in a way that I'm
- 9:20Speaker 4: uncomfortable with.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Fine, okay, but an elite running back can do for
- 9:26Speaker 3: an offense.
- 9:28Speaker 8: You know, I mean, that's I mean, that's part of
- 9:30Speaker 8: the argument, and I think that's something that is again
- 9:33Speaker 8: a worthwhile conversation. Who helps Drake May the most? Is
- 9:36Speaker 8: it Will Campbell is a left tackle? Probably certainly if
- 9:39Speaker 8: he's very good. Is he a left guard? Maybe a
- 9:41Speaker 8: little bit less but still helps him a little bit?
- 9:44Speaker 8: Tyler Warren, Yeah, that.
- 9:46Speaker 3: Moves the needle.
- 9:47Speaker 5: But if you were to live in the place where
- 9:49Speaker 5: let's let's go.
- 9:50Speaker 8: Optimistic on Ashton Genty and he is that guy and
- 9:53Speaker 8: he is as good as you know, Ladanian Tomlinson is
- 9:56Speaker 8: the comp in NFL dot com. But you know, let's
- 9:58Speaker 8: just play along. I think that Drake May if you
- 10:00Speaker 8: put Ladanian Tomlinson into this offense, because oh I would too.
- 10:03Speaker 5: He's a guy who can.
- 10:04Speaker 6: If going to take some five running back of all time,
- 10:07Speaker 6: right right, Just not comfortable with the description of Genty,
- 10:12Speaker 6: Like do you think Sakwan Barkley is that?
- 10:14Speaker 4: Yes, what do you do for the Giants?
- 10:16Speaker 3: Well, again, what do you blame the Giants? You to
- 10:21Speaker 3: blame Barkley for that? But he had a lot of injury.
- 10:24Speaker 4: I think he is what he is. Yeah, he's a
- 10:26Speaker 4: running back and most of those guys are wildly reliant
- 10:29Speaker 4: on the blocking. Yeah, there are very few guys like
- 10:32Speaker 4: Barry Sanders who it doesn't matter what you do for
- 10:34Speaker 4: the block. He's just gonna make plays. Sure.
- 10:36Speaker 3: Fair point.
- 10:37Speaker 8: But I think but in some of the scouting reports,
- 10:39Speaker 8: that's what some people view Genty as a guy that
- 10:41Speaker 8: can offset some deficiency offensive line.
- 10:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 10:45Speaker 6: I think that's the biggest thing that you know, where
- 10:48Speaker 6: I would have pushback on Genty is just you're putting
- 10:51Speaker 6: the car for before the horse, Like you don't have
- 10:53Speaker 6: an offensive line behind this right in front of this
- 10:55Speaker 6: running back for him to run behind. And so how
- 10:59Speaker 6: is ASHINGENTI gonna make dudes missing the backfield.
- 11:02Speaker 3: Run and run right behind Morgan Moses and when you.
- 11:04Speaker 6: Okay, and so the backside is just gonna have no
- 11:06Speaker 6: factor on the play.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Like you build that wall behind you know how to
- 11:09Speaker 3: do it.
- 11:10Speaker 6: I don't know how to build the way.
- 11:11Speaker 8: But it still just goes back to you can't choose
- 11:13Speaker 8: what order you get things.
- 11:14Speaker 5: And you know that's true.
- 11:15Speaker 8: Look, this is part of I mean, if this guy
- 11:17Speaker 8: did end up being la Damiani and he you can't
- 11:19Speaker 8: tell me that that's not a home run pick for
- 11:21Speaker 8: the Patriots. And now I get Paul's point that he probably
- 11:24Speaker 8: is not going to be that good. I mean, in
- 11:26Speaker 8: a perfect world, you'd love to find what what was
- 11:28Speaker 8: Curtis Martin a third round pick, you know, that comes
- 11:30Speaker 8: in and you know maybe has a little bit of
- 11:31Speaker 8: a similar effect for Bledsoe in the offense and rounds
- 11:34Speaker 8: things out a little bit. You know, they were able
- 11:36Speaker 8: to get Terry Glenn obviously, I mean not to throw
- 11:38Speaker 8: it too far back, but I just I just see
- 11:41Speaker 8: it as this was the worst run offense in the
- 11:44Speaker 8: league last year according to dv WA. They were thirty second,
- 11:47Speaker 8: and a lot of people are will they have remandre
- 11:50Speaker 8: I don't did anyone feel great about Ramondre Stevenson right now?
- 11:53Speaker 9: No?
- 11:53Speaker 4: But I think the bigger problem with Rominder Stevenson is
- 11:56Speaker 4: inability to hold out of the ball. I don't really
- 11:58Speaker 4: necessarily have a huge problem with his running style or ability. Yeah,
- 12:02Speaker 4: I don't think he's anything special. I mean, I think
- 12:05Speaker 4: he's a run of the bill back.
- 12:06Speaker 3: This comes down to do you think Genty's special?
- 12:10Speaker 6: But I don't think it just comes down to that though,
- 12:12Speaker 6: because like Sequon Barkley is special, Christian McCaffrey is special.
- 12:16Speaker 6: They did nothing for Carolina and the Giants. They did
- 12:19Speaker 6: nothing for either team and they issue quarterbacks. Okay, but
- 12:22Speaker 6: like who's he throwing to and who's protecting him? Like
- 12:25Speaker 6: he you know you have a passing offense. You can't
- 12:28Speaker 6: you know, build an effish and passing offense without protection
- 12:30Speaker 6: and receivers. So like when you take a guy like Genty,
- 12:34Speaker 6: you know you're really your best case scenario for a
- 12:37Speaker 6: guy like Genty is like Zeke Elliott in Dallas. But
- 12:39Speaker 6: Zeke Elliott and Dallas is running behind Tyron Smith and
- 12:42Speaker 6: Zach Martin and future Hall of Fame offensive lineman. So
- 12:46Speaker 6: when he comes into the league, I think is four
- 12:48Speaker 6: overall to the Cowboys that year, Like he's got a
- 12:51Speaker 6: whole infrastructure around to.
- 12:52Speaker 3: And I think this is where the outrage comes from.
- 12:54Speaker 3: The people don't think they have that infrastructure. It's just
- 12:57Speaker 3: a waste.
- 12:58Speaker 8: This sounds like the same argument to me that we
- 13:00Speaker 8: got from Drake May last year, where you can't Tommy
- 13:03Speaker 8: Current tell me you can't draft Drake May.
- 13:04Speaker 5: You have no offensive line, right, but.
- 13:05Speaker 6: The quarterback moves the needle more than a running back
- 13:08Speaker 6: camp So like it's a more can't.
- 13:10Speaker 3: But now you have the quarterback and you're you're trying
- 13:13Speaker 3: to add good football players to this team because they don't.
- 13:18Speaker 4: I understand Mike's rationale. I mean, we've talked about it
- 13:21Speaker 4: off here. I disagree with it, but like I totally
- 13:23Speaker 4: understand it.
- 13:24Speaker 8: Well that's I think, Like I just think this is
- 13:27Speaker 8: a good conversation and it's good debate, and it's you know,
- 13:30Speaker 8: rather than sitting around.
- 13:31Speaker 3: The point is you didn't just throw it out there
- 13:33Speaker 3: just to get clicks.
- 13:34Speaker 4: And the other part of this that that comes into it.
- 13:36Speaker 4: And Mike did the mock demented, but Mike, Mike did
- 13:40Speaker 4: the mock draft with Carter and Hunter gone. Now the
- 13:44Speaker 4: more time is going on, the more people putting mock
- 13:46Speaker 4: drafts together, and both of those quarterbacks are going in
- 13:49Speaker 4: the top three, which is going to leave one of
- 13:51Speaker 4: those two guys. And Mike, I think would be the
- 13:53Speaker 4: first one to admit, if Carter or Hunter is available,
- 13:57Speaker 4: you're taking taking one of those guys. Not not gent.
- 14:00Speaker 3: That's right, and I think we all agree.
- 14:02Speaker 4: You guys had a cut, was it Jeremiah and Hyper
- 14:06Speaker 4: now suddenly have both quarterbacks or three? I would be
- 14:09Speaker 4: surprised if that happens. I'm with you, Fred, I'm very
- 14:12Speaker 4: skeptical of what I'm hearing at this time of year,
- 14:16Speaker 4: especially with guys that are just so imperfect as prospects.
- 14:21Speaker 3: I would like to do a study of what the
- 14:24Speaker 3: results of the draft actually are compared to what the
- 14:29Speaker 3: chatter is at different times, and I would in my
- 14:33Speaker 3: hypothesis is that the early talk right after the college
- 14:38Speaker 3: football season as to where guys are going to go
- 14:41Speaker 3: is the most accurate talk, and then as it goes
- 14:46Speaker 3: it's crazy.
- 14:47Speaker 10: But if you go back to the first impressions that
- 14:52Speaker 10: might and just who's but whose impressions once the scouts
- 14:56Speaker 10: stopped doing it, well, No, I think what happens when.
- 15:01Speaker 4: Guys fluctuate wildly is the draft experts, the college football
- 15:08Speaker 4: draft knicks. Ye don't know what the NFL was gonna do,
- 15:13Speaker 4: and once the NFL starts looking, that's when they fall
- 15:15Speaker 4: into play. I don't think within the NFL there's as
- 15:19Speaker 4: much like this guy everybody thought was going number ten
- 15:22Speaker 4: and he ended up going thirty eight. I don't think
- 15:24Speaker 4: that happens in the NFL.
- 15:26Speaker 6: Unless there's something off the field going right on the player.
- 15:28Speaker 4: Yeah, but I agree what I'm saying. Yeah, I think
- 15:32Speaker 4: the GM, We are very consistent.
- 15:33Speaker 6: We catch up to them, yes, not the other way around.
- 15:36Speaker 6: So as more information is starting to come out about
- 15:39Speaker 6: these players, you know, we always talk about the combine.
- 15:42Speaker 6: Most of these teams know who's going to test well
- 15:43Speaker 6: and who's going to test poorly at the combine. So
- 15:46Speaker 6: I'll give you an example like armand Membu, you know
- 15:49Speaker 6: from Missouri. He has been for teams a top prospect
- 15:54Speaker 6: in this class since January. Now the media is seeing
- 15:58Speaker 6: his combine, and they're watching the film, and they're getting
- 16:01Speaker 6: more information about the player, and they're figuring out things
- 16:04Speaker 6: that the scouts in the GMS have known for months,
- 16:07Speaker 6: and so I think a lot of the media fodder
- 16:10Speaker 6: is catching up to the NFL. So I would actually
- 16:13Speaker 6: say we learn a little bit more about it later
- 16:16Speaker 6: on in the process, especially at the combine. Like the
- 16:19Speaker 6: you know, once we get to the combine, they've already
- 16:21Speaker 6: had their their kind of fall scouting meetings or you know,
- 16:24Speaker 6: we kind of a pass that point and they start
- 16:27Speaker 6: to set the board a little bit. Uh in February,
- 16:29Speaker 6: that's when the teams are really starting to hammer down
- 16:32Speaker 6: who's truly in play at like four overall.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Like like at the end of the season, it was
- 16:38Speaker 4: Campbell and Banks, Campbell and Banks, Campbell and Banks. I
- 16:41Speaker 4: don't hear anything about Banks anymore, right, And the only
- 16:44Speaker 4: thing I hear about Campbell is his arm length, because
- 16:47Speaker 4: I think the NFL looks at it differently than the
- 16:51Speaker 4: drafts experts, you know. I thought that's a great I'm
- 16:55Speaker 4: not disparaging the draft that I think they a lot
- 16:57Speaker 4: of these guys do a lot of work on these prospects. Yeah,
- 17:00Speaker 4: I don't think they know where they're going to go.
- 17:02Speaker 8: Right, That's what And that's why I think it's hard
- 17:04Speaker 8: to read in between the lines on Will Campbell, as
- 17:06Speaker 8: you know, his arm link, because I think one hand,
- 17:08Speaker 8: the NFL is telling you that it really does matter,
- 17:11Speaker 8: and you know, but we're still kind of circling back
- 17:13Speaker 8: to him now at this point. So I don't know.
- 17:15Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 17:16Speaker 4: So I had a thing I heard on the radio
- 17:19Speaker 4: this morning, and I didn't see it. I meant to.
- 17:21Speaker 8: Actually look it up your shows, your shows.
- 17:24Speaker 4: Well, someone said that Sports Illustrated had a projected trade
- 17:28Speaker 4: a proposal with San Francisco. Did you see that.
- 17:31Speaker 6: I don't know why we entertained trades like this, all right.
- 17:34Speaker 4: So I just want to I'm going to say, I'm
- 17:35Speaker 4: gonna state. I'm going to state the trade, and I
- 17:37Speaker 4: want to know what you guys say.
- 17:38Speaker 6: We live in a real world.
- 17:40Speaker 4: Okay, So Evan la Evans with me. It's the Patriots
- 17:45Speaker 4: and the Niners, uh, swapping picks from four to eleven,
- 17:50Speaker 4: and the Patriots get Brandon Ayuk and a second round pick.
- 17:57Speaker 3: Okay, I mean, I mean Brandon Ayuk would he'd have
- 18:02Speaker 3: to be dragged here right, just forget that?
- 18:05Speaker 4: Okay, Well, San Francisco is moving up seven spots in
- 18:10Speaker 4: the draft and in return giving you Brandon Ayuk and
- 18:13Speaker 4: a second round pick. That doesn't seem odd to you. No,
- 18:18Speaker 4: I would fire John Lynch on the spot if he
- 18:21Speaker 4: made that trade. I would do if I was Oh,
- 18:24Speaker 4: if I was the Patriots, I would.
- 18:25Speaker 3: But I read a report today on Twitter that what's
- 18:29Speaker 3: getting lost in the whole Brandon Ayuk thing is the
- 18:32Speaker 3: forty nine ers really don't want to pay him.
- 18:34Speaker 4: No. But what I'm saying is, if you're trading a
- 18:37Speaker 4: talent like Brandon Ayuk, you shouldn't have to be giving
- 18:41Speaker 4: up a second round pick and only moving up seven spots.
- 18:48Speaker 4: So to move up seven spots. You're giving up a
- 18:50Speaker 4: really good player and a very valuable pick. That doesn't
- 18:54Speaker 4: seem like out of what the.
- 18:56Speaker 5: Only did you think from Patriots perspective?
- 19:00Speaker 4: Patriots? I'll do that all day, every day. That's what
- 19:02Speaker 4: the Patriots want. Now, they don't have to worry about
- 19:04Speaker 4: kept me knowing they can go down and get a tackle.
- 19:06Speaker 4: Maybe members available at eleven.
- 19:08Speaker 3: But you're keeping your first round pick.
- 19:10Speaker 4: The moving up seven spots, that's it. That's all they got.
- 19:13Speaker 4: They get seven spots in the draft.
- 19:16Speaker 3: No, but they don't get our they're getting four.
- 19:19Speaker 4: You're getting eleven.
- 19:20Speaker 3: Oh so you're getting there as well.
- 19:22Speaker 4: Yes, I thought that's what I'm saying.
- 19:25Speaker 3: It's a pipe thought we were only getting Ayuk in
- 19:28Speaker 3: their second.
- 19:30Speaker 4: Plus you're moving up, plus you're you're moving down. So
- 19:34Speaker 4: the Patriots are moving down seven spots and getting.
- 19:38Speaker 3: So Now I now I agree Lynch should be fired
- 19:40Speaker 3: because I thought you were just getting Ayuk in their second.
- 19:43Speaker 4: Now, unless this was Mike is right. It was on
- 19:45Speaker 4: one of my shows this morning with Hardy and Fred,
- 19:48Speaker 4: and Fred had said that that was the proposal that
- 19:50Speaker 4: Sports illustrated throughout there. I did not see the proposal.
- 19:54Speaker 4: Maybe he did not accurately portray the proposal, but that's
- 19:58Speaker 4: what he said.
- 19:59Speaker 3: I'm getting there first, their second in Ayuk Lynch should
- 20:02Speaker 3: be fired. There's no way.
- 20:03Speaker 4: They just just for seven spots.
- 20:05Speaker 3: Yeah, there's no way. But if they're not getting nothing first,
- 20:08Speaker 3: then I could see.
- 20:09Speaker 4: To say nothing like the fact that what is available
- 20:12Speaker 4: at four that you like that you know of?
- 20:14Speaker 8: You know, so you still have eleven, you know, so yeah,
- 20:18Speaker 8: go to eleven.
- 20:20Speaker 6: Back on planet Earth.
- 20:23Speaker 3: But I just thought that was like if they were
- 20:26Speaker 3: if there wasn't a first round swap, would you do
- 20:28Speaker 3: it if you were the Patriots?
- 20:31Speaker 4: No, So you're giving up four for a Yuk in
- 20:33Speaker 4: a second?
- 20:33Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a little bit more feasible, right.
- 20:37Speaker 4: Yeah, it's definitely feasible.
- 20:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:38Speaker 6: I would not because.
- 20:40Speaker 4: Now you've got to worry about are Yuk's health.
- 20:42Speaker 3: No, I got to worry about Ayuk. He doesn't want
- 20:44Speaker 3: to come here.
- 20:45Speaker 4: Yeah, but that's something you work out before you make
- 20:47Speaker 4: a trade. Yeah, he's on board. Yeah, if you're making
- 20:51Speaker 4: that trade, you're not making that trade blind.
- 20:53Speaker 8: Yeah, you probably don't know this public who was San
- 20:55Speaker 8: Francisco trading up to get.
- 20:56Speaker 4: Well, that's what I'm saying like, what is the fourth pick? Like,
- 20:59Speaker 4: I guess it would be contingent on one of those
- 21:01Speaker 4: two being available. Yeah, but I just do would you
- 21:05Speaker 4: do if?
- 21:06Speaker 8: I mean, that gets a little bit for me too, Like,
- 21:09Speaker 8: I mean.
- 21:10Speaker 4: I still think you're giving way too much, right, if
- 21:13Speaker 4: you're San Francisco, it's either are you or this? Like,
- 21:16Speaker 4: it's not both?
- 21:18Speaker 3: Can I can I throw out a little playoff thing.
- 21:20Speaker 3: It has to do more with the other sports of
- 21:23Speaker 3: the three sports than football, but it just occurred to
- 21:26Speaker 3: me it's a it's a playoff adaption. So let's just
- 21:30Speaker 3: let's just take the NBA. You get into the playoffs
- 21:33Speaker 3: the same way as always, you know, based on your record,
- 21:37Speaker 3: Then you get seeded. Everything stays the same. But once
- 21:39Speaker 3: you get into the individual series, the home court advantage
- 21:44Speaker 3: is dictated by the head on head season matchup. So
- 21:49Speaker 3: let's just say the first seed is playing the sixth
- 21:52Speaker 3: seed or whatever. If it just so happens that the
- 21:55Speaker 3: sixth seed has a better record against that team, they
- 21:58Speaker 3: get the home court. It's a little bit of incentive
- 22:00Speaker 3: to make the regular season games more valuable because you
- 22:06Speaker 3: never know who you're going to be playing in the playoffs,
- 22:08Speaker 3: and if if I don't if I don't have the
- 22:11Speaker 3: better record against them in the regular season, I could
- 22:14Speaker 3: lose home court advantage.
- 22:16Speaker 6: Would you try it against the teams that aren't in
- 22:18Speaker 6: the playoffs?
- 22:19Speaker 3: Well no, So if the teams are that bad that
- 22:21Speaker 3: they're out, then of course why would to say it's
- 22:24Speaker 3: a little bit of juice.
- 22:25Speaker 4: But why wouldn't the same juice be generated by trying
- 22:28Speaker 4: to win so you have the better record and therefore can.
- 22:30Speaker 3: Host no because you well you always try to do that,
- 22:33Speaker 3: but there's a lot of games where you just take
- 22:35Speaker 3: it off, you know.
- 22:36Speaker 4: Right, So what's going to change, Like, you're not going
- 22:39Speaker 4: to know who you're playing in the playoffs, so you
- 22:41Speaker 4: don't know which games you can't take off.
- 22:43Speaker 3: That's the point. You don't know who you're going to
- 22:45Speaker 3: So every game becomes a little bit more valuable when
- 22:47Speaker 3: you're playing. When you're playing might.
- 22:50Speaker 8: Well the good teams against it might get a little bit,
- 22:51Speaker 8: but against the bad teams, it's not.
- 22:53Speaker 3: There's nothing you can do about it.
- 22:54Speaker 4: Like the Celtics want to finish with the better best
- 22:56Speaker 4: record they can so they can host as many rounds
- 22:58Speaker 4: in the playoffs as they can. Not necessarily we need
- 23:01Speaker 4: to beat the Indiana Pacers because we might play them
- 23:03Speaker 4: in a two seven matchup.
- 23:04Speaker 3: But that's but that's the point.
- 23:06Speaker 4: But but I just have to have the better records,
- 23:08Speaker 4: so I need to try. Like I don't understand why
- 23:10Speaker 4: my effort is changing.
- 23:11Speaker 3: But but now the better record doesn't always help you.
- 23:14Speaker 3: If you if you didn't try against the Pacers and
- 23:17Speaker 3: you end.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Up actually punishing the team for trying during the season, No,
- 23:21Speaker 4: because they didn't try.
- 23:22Speaker 3: I'm rewarding the team for trying during the season.
- 23:26Speaker 4: By having a better record. That's how you try.
- 23:28Speaker 3: If I didn't try in a game against the paid No,
- 23:31Speaker 3: if I didn't try, if I didn't try against a
- 23:34Speaker 3: game against the Pacers and they end up having a
- 23:36Speaker 3: better season record against US, I could lose home court.
- 23:41Speaker 3: So I have to try against every team that I
- 23:43Speaker 3: might play in the playoffs.
- 23:45Speaker 6: Okay, but what about the teams that you're not going
- 23:47Speaker 6: to play in the playoffs? But those are they're like,
- 23:50Speaker 6: there's already not a lot of incentive in the NBA,
- 23:52Speaker 6: example for the Celtics to try against like the Washington Wizards.
- 23:57Speaker 3: There there's nothing I can do about it, and they're
- 23:59Speaker 3: never gonna try in those games.
- 24:00Speaker 6: All right, but now I try even less because the
- 24:02Speaker 6: head to head is the only thing that matters. So
- 24:04Speaker 6: all they have to invest in is Milwaukee, Indiana.
- 24:08Speaker 3: The seedings. The seedings are still there in terms of
- 24:12Speaker 3: you know who you're gonna play in the playoffs.
- 24:15Speaker 4: That don't you don't you always try against the teams
- 24:18Speaker 4: that you perceive to be good.
- 24:20Speaker 3: Well again, if you if you're if you're.
- 24:23Speaker 4: The Gvins, point like we're gonna take the Brooklyn game
- 24:26Speaker 4: the Wizard.
- 24:27Speaker 3: If you're the Pacers, then you end up having a
- 24:29Speaker 3: better season record against the Celtics, there's no reward.
- 24:32Speaker 4: There shouldn't be.
- 24:34Speaker 3: I think there should be not if you don't have.
- 24:35Speaker 4: As good a record.
- 24:36Speaker 6: It's an eighty two.
- 24:38Speaker 4: If the Jets beat the Patriots twice but finished with
- 24:41Speaker 4: an inferior record, they're not hosting the playoff game.
- 24:44Speaker 3: But football is different. That's why I said it doesn't
- 24:46Speaker 3: really apply.
- 24:48Speaker 4: I don't think it's unfair like the other team has
- 24:51Speaker 4: a better record.
- 24:51Speaker 3: No, I'm not saying it's I'm just trying a little
- 24:54Speaker 3: bit extra juice for some games in the NBA, and
- 24:57Speaker 3: you could work in the NHL too.
- 24:59Speaker 8: Take April in the season with the Pacers season series
- 25:02Speaker 8: is three to three, right, and this game in April
- 25:04Speaker 8: might decide where.
- 25:06Speaker 3: So instead of like sitting guys to rest them, I
- 25:09Speaker 3: need to play them.
- 25:09Speaker 6: Well, I mean I was just at unfortunately they lost,
- 25:12Speaker 6: but I was at the Celtics Thunder game and that
- 25:14Speaker 6: was not Yeah, that was the low stakes game.
- 25:16Speaker 3: No, that's what I'm saying.
- 25:17Speaker 6: This game if teams are missing guys.
- 25:21Speaker 3: But you don't lose that in this thing, you don't
- 25:24Speaker 3: lose that instead of either you're just adding.
- 25:26Speaker 4: But you're not adding anything.
- 25:27Speaker 3: You are he just he just said it.
- 25:31Speaker 6: And that off chance that that scenario happens at the
- 25:33Speaker 6: end of the season.
- 25:34Speaker 4: And you have no way of knowing what that team is,
- 25:37Speaker 4: You're you're talking about like a one in a million shot, Like, oh,
- 25:40Speaker 4: we're playing the Knicks and the playoffs and we have
- 25:42Speaker 4: the Knicks in April and the season series is tied,
- 25:46Speaker 4: Like what are the odds of that?
- 25:47Speaker 3: I don't know, But I'm just saying that you don't
- 25:50Speaker 3: know who you're gonna play in the playoffs, especially especially
- 25:54Speaker 3: early in the season.
- 25:56Speaker 4: Like would Adam Silver, I'd rather reward the team that
- 25:58Speaker 4: wins the most games to ensure that they play as
- 26:00Speaker 4: hard as they can, and as many of.
- 26:01Speaker 3: Those eighty twos, well, you are rewarding. They're getting the
- 26:06Speaker 3: reward by the seed that doesn't go away.
- 26:09Speaker 6: I think that the problem with the NBA is that
- 26:11Speaker 6: there's not enough incentive for finishing the season with a
- 26:15Speaker 6: better record. Because now, I mean it used to be
- 26:18Speaker 6: back in the day that home court advantage mattered a
- 26:20Speaker 6: little bit in the NBA, but it's evening out more
- 26:22Speaker 6: and more as the years go on. So like now,
- 26:25Speaker 6: if you're a team like the Celtics.
- 26:26Speaker 4: That have.
- 26:29Speaker 6: Proven commodity, a defending champion, like, they're not going to
- 26:32Speaker 6: empty the tank in the regular season because they'll get
- 26:36Speaker 6: to the playoffs and everybody will be healthy and they'll
- 26:38Speaker 6: they'll now, But that's because the only like I think
- 26:45Speaker 6: that's disincentivizing you is that Game seven won't be in
- 26:49Speaker 6: your home arena. That's it. And if you're the Celtics,
- 26:52Speaker 6: you're saying Game seven, we're not going to get the
- 26:56Speaker 6: Game seven. So what difference doesn't make right?
- 26:58Speaker 3: I think? So, I think you home court advantage is
- 27:01Speaker 3: still something you want.
- 27:02Speaker 6: Statistically, it matters less and less, especially in the NBA.
- 27:07Speaker 6: It used to be a really heavyweight to home court
- 27:10Speaker 6: advantage because of the referee. The refs used to give
- 27:13Speaker 6: hometown calls and all that kind of stuff that doesn't
- 27:16Speaker 6: happen as much anymore, and so now it's pretty even.
- 27:19Speaker 6: Like you can go into another team's arena in the
- 27:22Speaker 6: playoffs and win. It's not unheard of. So to me,
- 27:25Speaker 6: it's like, why, you know, the Celtics are you know,
- 27:29Speaker 6: off the pace with the Calves or the number one seed, Like,
- 27:31Speaker 6: why are the Celtics emptying the take in the last
- 27:34Speaker 6: five weeks of the season to try to catch Cleveland. Yeah, like, well,
- 27:36Speaker 6: meet Cleveland in the playoffs, We'll have three games on
- 27:38Speaker 6: our home court and we'll see who wins. Yeah, you know.
- 27:41Speaker 3: I just think if there's any way that you can
- 27:43Speaker 3: incentivize each game to be more important, Like if teams
- 27:47Speaker 3: go in like we want to win every season series
- 27:50Speaker 3: against every team, I think that's a good thing.
- 27:53Speaker 6: See, I think to make it more important is I
- 27:55Speaker 6: guess what I'm getting at is that I think that
- 27:58Speaker 6: the home team or the team with the better record
- 28:00Speaker 6: should have more home games than just four versus three,
- 28:04Speaker 6: because I don't I don't think it's enough of an
- 28:06Speaker 6: incentive because if you're a really good team like Boston,
- 28:09Speaker 6: you're thinking to yourself, what the worst case scenario is
- 28:12Speaker 6: that we have a coin flip Game seven in Cleveland.
- 28:14Speaker 6: That's the worst case scenario, and so we'll take our chances,
- 28:18Speaker 6: right like, we think we're the better team, will take
- 28:20Speaker 6: our chances. But if a series was this team got
- 28:24Speaker 6: five home games to two home games.
- 28:26Speaker 3: Now now all they now I can listen.
- 28:29Speaker 6: Now, all of a sudden, it makes more sense. Or
- 28:32Speaker 6: let's say the first three games of the series are
- 28:34Speaker 6: all in Cleveland. Okay, right, you.
- 28:36Speaker 3: Know it's the same. It's giving more importance to that
- 28:39Speaker 3: season series.
- 28:40Speaker 6: It's giving more importance to the regular season because I
- 28:43Speaker 6: think right now, and it happens every time, like the Nuggets,
- 28:46Speaker 6: the Celtics, the Warriors, at the end, they don't care
- 28:49Speaker 6: like they'll just get to the playoffs, and they have
- 28:51Speaker 6: more moxie and they have more experience.
- 28:53Speaker 4: I think you away is going to actually have unintended consequences.
- 28:57Speaker 4: I think teams could say, well, we don't really care
- 29:00Speaker 4: about the regal season, but we're gonna really we're gonna
- 29:03Speaker 4: empty the bucket in those four games against the Celtics,
- 29:05Speaker 4: because that's all we care about. We need to have
- 29:07Speaker 4: that home court against them. It doesn't matter if we
- 29:09Speaker 4: don't have as good a record as they do. So
- 29:12Speaker 4: we'll rest all our guys more than we normally would, right,
- 29:15Speaker 4: because all we got to do was worry about those
- 29:16Speaker 4: four games. Yeah, I mean I would rather have, like
- 29:19Speaker 4: for the Celtics eighty two games. What do you say,
- 29:23Speaker 4: this is probably maybe twenty that they looked at and said,
- 29:26Speaker 4: you know, the two against Denver, the two against Okay,
- 29:28Speaker 4: see the Knicks games, the Bucks games Cleveland, Cleveland, you know.
- 29:33Speaker 3: But that's that's one of the they're focusing on. Well,
- 29:35Speaker 3: that's because the league stinks, right, there's only six good
- 29:38Speaker 3: teams level right, right, the West is better than the East.
- 29:41Speaker 4: The West is way better.
- 29:42Speaker 6: But when you look at you know, the Celtics again,
- 29:44Speaker 6: like every time they play one of those teams that
- 29:47Speaker 6: you mentioned, it's a pseudo playoff game.
- 29:49Speaker 4: They tried.
- 29:50Speaker 6: They you know, it's it's all hands on deck and they.
- 29:52Speaker 3: Put a lot but anyway.
- 29:54Speaker 6: Well, yeah, but you know, he's he's a wild card
- 29:57Speaker 6: to begin with. But you have those are real games,
- 30:00Speaker 6: Like you know, I have Ma Siico, so I watch
- 30:02Speaker 6: every single game. But like there's a big difference between
- 30:05Speaker 6: the game against Brooklyn the other night and the OKAC
- 30:08Speaker 6: game that I went to last week, right, and that
- 30:10Speaker 6: that's just and.
- 30:11Speaker 4: You see this, You could tell the scores when the
- 30:13Speaker 4: Celtics took like they beat Utah like a week and
- 30:15Speaker 4: a half ago by like six points, the game that
- 30:18Speaker 4: the two of them had forty Yeah. Right, then they
- 30:21Speaker 4: beat Brooklyn by two the other night, like you know,
- 30:24Speaker 4: when they took the foot off the gas. There's no
- 30:26Speaker 4: way that they're only beating Utah by six points if
- 30:29Speaker 4: they're giving in an honest effort. But you know, the
- 30:32Speaker 4: game against Cleveland, the game against Okay, see, those were awars. Yeah,
- 30:36Speaker 4: those are really hard fought. That the game that they
- 30:39Speaker 4: beat Denver on like the Sunday afternoon, that was a
- 30:41Speaker 4: hard fought, well played game.
- 30:44Speaker 3: Yep.
- 30:44Speaker 4: But there's just not enough of them in that league.
- 30:46Speaker 4: That was our NBA minute.
- 30:49Speaker 3: It was just something I was thinking about to just
- 30:51Speaker 3: give a little bit more shoes to these regular season games.
- 30:54Speaker 3: A five to five past five hundred is the a
- 30:56Speaker 3: ticket hotline. No, I'm sorry, it's just the hot line.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Nobody sponsors it's.
- 31:03Speaker 11: Uh.
- 31:03Speaker 3: And then podcasts at Patriots Dot com is the email
- 31:06Speaker 3: address getting a lot of people want to weigh in.
- 31:10Speaker 3: I can't imagine what they want to weigh in. Uh,
- 31:13Speaker 3: so let's start with Todd North Carolina. What's up, Todd?
- 31:17Speaker 12: Hey, guys, It's been an interesting conversation, but I just
- 31:19Speaker 12: like to relate some of the conversations that I've heard
- 31:21Speaker 12: around here. I don't know why, but I'm in the
- 31:25Speaker 12: middle of a Pittsburgh fan base and there's tons of them,
- 31:28Speaker 12: and they're really serious about if Shador's still available at
- 31:31Speaker 12: four they want them. They want the tomlind to do
- 31:35Speaker 12: whatever it takes to get up there and get him
- 31:37Speaker 12: because they feel like Tomlin's, you know, his his tenure
- 31:40Speaker 12: is coming to a close througher then later and they
- 31:44Speaker 12: think they have enough talent.
- 31:46Speaker 11: Now to maybe make it somewhere.
- 31:47Speaker 3: So you say, the Pittsburgh like, yeah, okay.
- 31:53Speaker 12: So that's what they're they're interested in. So I'll take
- 31:55Speaker 12: the answer up there.
- 31:56Speaker 3: Thanks, all right.
- 31:57Speaker 8: So it's the biggest question draft from respective is what
- 32:00Speaker 8: teams really want him and are willing to spend capital
- 32:04Speaker 8: to get up and get him. And I think I'm
- 32:06Speaker 8: still skeptical. Well, it sounds nice for the fans I don't.
- 32:09Speaker 4: Know twenty one, so I just can't see that.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Yeah, And I guess we have to talk about it.
- 32:13Speaker 3: If we're going to talk about the Steelers, we have
- 32:15Speaker 3: to talk about Aaron Rodgers, right, because he's now connected
- 32:19Speaker 3: to them. He says he's going to reveal his decision
- 32:22Speaker 3: on Thursday.
- 32:23Speaker 6: I love how he acts like it's his decision.
- 32:24Speaker 3: Right and who is it from the Steelers? On his
- 32:27Speaker 3: accounts that either you're a Steeler or you're not, either
- 32:30Speaker 3: you want to be with us or not, aiming that
- 32:34Speaker 3: at Aaron Rodgers, and I agree, like, if you're a
- 32:36Speaker 3: Steelers player, it's like, screw you.
- 32:38Speaker 4: Yeah, you know, Patriots fans would probably hope he goes
- 32:41Speaker 4: to Pittsburgh because that's outside of you know, the structure.
- 32:44Speaker 4: You they've had. There's been ties with Russell Wilson to Cleveland.
- 32:50Speaker 4: I think he visited Cleveland recently. There's been ties to
- 32:54Speaker 4: Rogers with the Giants. Like that would be a disastrous
- 32:56Speaker 4: scenario for the Patriots that if those two things both happened,
- 33:01Speaker 4: then there's no way that obviously by process of elimination,
- 33:05Speaker 4: that both quarterbacks can go in the top three. So
- 33:08Speaker 4: I think you're looking at someone like Pittsburgh. To take
- 33:11Speaker 4: Aaron Rodgers would be better because that leads both Cleveland
- 33:14Speaker 4: and the Giants also in search of a veteran quarterback
- 33:18Speaker 4: to eliminate the need to take Sanders.
- 33:20Speaker 3: And then Rodgers has also been tied to Minnesota.
- 33:22Speaker 4: Minnesota, which I don't really which is.
- 33:24Speaker 3: So wild because that's the exact path of Brett Favre.
- 33:27Speaker 4: Yeah, but like, can you guys, I mean, you guys
- 33:30Speaker 4: are smarter than me. You guys always tell me these things.
- 33:32Speaker 4: I don't look at them. Sometimes I think that would
- 33:35Speaker 4: be crazy for Minnesota. First of all, everybody knows what
- 33:39Speaker 4: I think of Rogers, Like, I just think he's a
- 33:41Speaker 4: bad teammate. Yeah, I don't think he has the ability
- 33:43Speaker 4: anymore to overcome his bad teammateenance. To make up a phrase,
- 33:49Speaker 4: but if you wanted to roll the dice with him,
- 33:51Speaker 4: and just like, I'm not only going to bring that
- 33:55Speaker 4: into my team that won fourteen games last year, but
- 33:58Speaker 4: I'm going to risk doing damage to my young quarterback
- 34:02Speaker 4: who sat out his rookie year as a red shirt
- 34:04Speaker 4: with injury like that can't be a good situation for
- 34:08Speaker 4: JJ McCarthy to be in.
- 34:10Speaker 3: I heard about like I heard a report on McCarthy
- 34:13Speaker 3: that like he's down to like one hundred and seventy pounds.
- 34:16Speaker 4: He lost a lot of weight after the surgery. He
- 34:19Speaker 4: had to have a clean up procedure.
- 34:20Speaker 3: Yeah, so they're not even sure he's going to be ready.
- 34:22Speaker 4: No, I understand the reservations about, Like I understand why
- 34:26Speaker 4: they wanted to entertain Sam Donald coming back, do you
- 34:30Speaker 4: know what I mean? Yes, well, he's just thought about
- 34:33Speaker 4: taking gentyet. I understand the reservations about wanting to, you know,
- 34:39Speaker 4: bring back Sam Donald, you know, as an insurance policy.
- 34:42Speaker 4: I don't understand Aaron Rodgers is the fallback.
- 34:46Speaker 3: I don't.
- 34:46Speaker 6: I think that's all coming from Rogers. I think the
- 34:49Speaker 6: Minnesota buzz is coming.
- 34:51Speaker 4: For Kevin O'Connell's sake. I hope you're right.
- 34:53Speaker 6: I just I don't see it either as a fit.
- 34:56Speaker 6: I don't see this system as a fit either for him.
- 34:58Speaker 6: You know, the way they run their office, and so
- 35:00Speaker 6: I don't see that as a as a great Rogers
- 35:03Speaker 6: style system either. And I just I think that that's
- 35:07Speaker 6: all Rogers would of course, he would love to go
- 35:08Speaker 6: to throw to Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison and the
- 35:11Speaker 6: weapons that they have in Minnesota. Like it's clearly an
- 35:15Speaker 6: attractive team to quarterback, like you look at Sam Darnold
- 35:19Speaker 6: did last year with that offensive system and those weapons.
- 35:22Speaker 6: But I don't think that the Vikings have a ton
- 35:25Speaker 6: of interest in Donald. I think Donald has a ton
- 35:27Speaker 6: of interest in the Vikings.
- 35:28Speaker 4: Rodgers, Rogers, Yeah, sorry, yeah, yeah, So I mean I
- 35:31Speaker 4: do think that Rogers is going to impact at least
- 35:34Speaker 4: a couple of teams, if not more. And what does
- 35:37Speaker 4: he say?
- 35:37Speaker 3: Thursday Cousins is still out there too, right because.
- 35:40Speaker 4: He's on in Atlanta. But you know, I think I
- 35:43Speaker 4: think he can be had.
- 35:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:44Speaker 6: Yeah, but they have a like a roster bonus situation
- 35:47Speaker 6: going on.
- 35:48Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's still on the roster.
- 35:50Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 35:50Speaker 8: Those are the three vets right now. Is there anyone
- 35:52Speaker 8: else other than Wilson Rodgers?
- 35:54Speaker 4: And I mean you could make I mean, not that
- 35:56Speaker 4: you would want to start, like.
- 36:00Speaker 8: Huh, Jill Milton the course another.
- 36:01Speaker 4: But I mean you have Jameis Winston, Gardner, Minshew, not Gus,
- 36:05Speaker 4: not guys that you want to start. I mean I
- 36:08Speaker 4: think that if you were a team that got left
- 36:11Speaker 4: at the altar, you could sort of sell yourself on
- 36:13Speaker 4: a Russell Wilson or a Kirk Cousins. But I don't
- 36:15Speaker 4: know if you want to go into a year with
- 36:17Speaker 4: Gardner Minshew as your starter.
- 36:18Speaker 8: And who was at Tennessee Cleveland the Giants? Is there
- 36:21Speaker 8: anybody else who was clearly without us starting?
- 36:24Speaker 6: I mean, like the Raiders in New Orleans are long
- 36:27Speaker 6: term needs right, Like they're not. They don't necessarily need
- 36:30Speaker 6: a twenty twenty five starter, but they're going to be
- 36:32Speaker 6: in the quarterback harrousel at some point, you know here soon.
- 36:36Speaker 3: I heard a report that the Patriots are asking for
- 36:38Speaker 3: a third rounder for.
- 36:39Speaker 4: Milton Cleveland's Cleveland Plain dealer Tony Grossi, I believe, said
- 36:45Speaker 4: that the price that the Patriots are asking for would
- 36:48Speaker 4: be a third round pick, which I think is smart.
- 36:50Speaker 4: I don't think they'll get it, but I think that's smart.
- 36:52Speaker 6: See, I would have asked for more, like you can
- 36:55Speaker 6: only be told you're crazy, Like you know, like why
- 37:00Speaker 6: stop at a third round pick? Like I'm not saying
- 37:02Speaker 6: I'll ask for a first round pick necessarily, but like, but.
- 37:06Speaker 3: How much weight do you give to the Grossi report?
- 37:10Speaker 3: I think he's like did he get that from another
- 37:12Speaker 3: team that inquired with the Patriots?
- 37:13Speaker 4: And the Patriots said, I don't know he's I mean,
- 37:15Speaker 4: he's a pretty respected guy who's been around for.
- 37:17Speaker 3: A long time.
- 37:17Speaker 4: But yeah, it's a good it's a fair point doesn't
- 37:20Speaker 4: mean it doesn't mean it's fact, but I just think
- 37:22Speaker 4: it's a it's a good uh. I mean, I think
- 37:24Speaker 4: it's unrealistic for the Patriots, but I think it's good
- 37:27Speaker 4: to shoot high. I think that he was a he
- 37:30Speaker 4: was a sixth round pick. He's a Day three guy.
- 37:32Speaker 4: You're probably getting a Day three pick back for him
- 37:35Speaker 4: if you trade him. I wouldn't trade him, not for
- 37:37Speaker 4: a Day three pick. You know, I wouldn't trade him.
- 37:41Speaker 4: I would. I would hope that he can be the backup.
- 37:43Speaker 4: I don't know that he can. And I know they've
- 37:45Speaker 4: signed Joshua Dobbs, but I don't I would, I would
- 37:48Speaker 4: keep him.
- 37:49Speaker 8: I just want to bring up Chase and Higgins signing
- 37:53Speaker 8: with the Bengals.
- 37:54Speaker 5: So I think that T.
- 37:55Speaker 8: Higgins dreams didn't see that probably gone. It's not funny
- 37:59Speaker 8: how they stayed aimed it though, like the highest paid
- 38:02Speaker 8: number two of all time.
- 38:03Speaker 4: You know, I think strive you numbers in your letters.
- 38:08Speaker 9: The best Z.
- 38:10Speaker 3: Doesn't and Kyle re signed.
- 38:14Speaker 4: What was that?
- 38:15Speaker 8: So what they just did your salary and they try
- 38:16Speaker 8: to get him back for Yeah, just.
- 38:19Speaker 5: I don't know you could.
- 38:19Speaker 4: I was happy for Evan because everyone was so conflicted.
- 38:22Speaker 4: Last week they're blowing it up like did Kyle really
- 38:25Speaker 4: do this?
- 38:26Speaker 3: Kyle still knows ball?
- 38:27Speaker 6: I mean, Kyle did this had to be something.
- 38:31Speaker 4: Whispers.
- 38:33Speaker 3: All right, let's go to Patty and agawam. What's up Patty?
- 38:37Speaker 13: Afternoon?
- 38:38Speaker 14: Gentlemen?
- 38:39Speaker 4: What's up?
- 38:41Speaker 3: Brad?
- 38:41Speaker 15: Can you give me a little bit of a vine,
- 38:42Speaker 15: because I did want to cover a few things. The
- 38:45Speaker 15: first thing is, I'm sorry. I said this the last
- 38:48Speaker 15: year and I'll stay it again this year. I want
- 38:50Speaker 15: no part of Brandon Ayuk. I don't think he's the
- 38:53Speaker 15: number one guy. To me, it looks like after he
- 38:56Speaker 15: got paid in stan Brand last year, he looked and
- 38:59Speaker 15: played like a third and and he ended up getting hurt. Sorry,
- 39:01Speaker 15: I don't want them. I just want to be on
- 39:03Speaker 15: record with that.
- 39:04Speaker 3: And I think the mutual for him. But that's how
- 39:07Speaker 3: many games?
- 39:08Speaker 15: That's all right, I don't want them. The second thing
- 39:11Speaker 15: you were talking about is there do you believe that
- 39:15Speaker 15: the Titans are going to take Ward with the first pick?
- 39:17Speaker 3: Well, don't believe.
- 39:18Speaker 15: Now we said for well for many years, what did
- 39:21Speaker 15: we what did we stay around here?
- 39:23Speaker 9: Fred?
- 39:23Speaker 15: Don't listen to what Belichick says, look at what he does.
- 39:26Speaker 15: I can't take credit for this, but I think I
- 39:30Speaker 15: was listening to Bucky Brooks and Daniel Jeremiah, and I
- 39:32Speaker 15: think Brooks brought up that said, like, gms will lie
- 39:36Speaker 15: to the media, but they won't lie what they're wallet.
- 39:39Speaker 15: And look at what they did in free agency. I
- 39:41Speaker 15: mean they signed Dan Moore Junior and Zeitler pretty much
- 39:45Speaker 15: shored about the offensive line, and I mean everyone that
- 39:49Speaker 15: I'm listening to says is saying the exact same thing.
- 39:53Speaker 15: They're showing up the offensive line. To draft a quarterback
- 39:56Speaker 15: with the first pick might not be Ward. It could
- 39:58Speaker 15: be standards, which would be crazy. But to me, I
- 40:02Speaker 15: think Ward's going number one overall. Now, let's get the deuce.
- 40:08Speaker 15: I listened to a few podcasts last night taking shots
- 40:11Speaker 15: that you two deuces. I don't think gen you would
- 40:14Speaker 15: be a bad pick. Maybe in the future. Mike Evan said,
- 40:18Speaker 15: once we you know, get a couple of pieces, once
- 40:20Speaker 15: we solidify the left tackle position. But I think at
- 40:23Speaker 15: this point where this team is right now. I don't
- 40:27Speaker 15: think he moves the needle because I mean, if we
- 40:29Speaker 15: can't open up holes, yeah, I mean, are you just
- 40:31Speaker 15: gonna run behind the right hand side of all year
- 40:34Speaker 15: long and you know not try and run up the middle.
- 40:38Speaker 15: I mean, we we need we need a center, we
- 40:40Speaker 15: need left guard, and we need a left tackle. We
- 40:43Speaker 15: need to solidify those positions before we can even consider
- 40:46Speaker 15: taking a running back of.
- 40:47Speaker 12: That high value.
- 40:48Speaker 15: That's all I got. I'll talk to you guys on Thursday.
- 40:51Speaker 3: Okay, Thanks, Patty.
- 40:52Speaker 8: See, sometimes though, I just feel like we've lost the
- 40:54Speaker 8: plot a little bit.
- 40:55Speaker 9: You know.
- 40:55Speaker 8: It's just like, and I remember when I first started
- 40:57Speaker 8: working here, and these kind of lines are like, we need.
- 40:59Speaker 3: A god, we need a guard so bad.
- 41:01Speaker 8: I'm like, I get it, Like, and that's kind of
- 41:03Speaker 8: like the football thing to say, like we've got to solidify.
- 41:07Speaker 5: But it's also just.
- 41:08Speaker 8: Making the case that if there was an all Pro
- 41:10Speaker 8: talent on the for the worst offense in football last year,
- 41:14Speaker 8: that maybe it makes sense. Maybe you know, I know
- 41:16Speaker 8: we didn't put it together and right the right way,
- 41:18Speaker 8: but maybe it makes sense to draft a guy who's
- 41:21Speaker 8: arguably maybe depending on how I feel about Travis.
- 41:24Speaker 5: Hunter, the second best offensive.
- 41:26Speaker 3: Yeah, people with the order of things. Okay, so maybe
- 41:29Speaker 3: maybe this year, maybe this year they only win seven games,
- 41:33Speaker 3: and maybe having the running back was you know, helped
- 41:36Speaker 3: you win a couple of extra games this year. But
- 41:38Speaker 3: next year, now you've already got that guy and now
- 41:42Speaker 3: you add the tackle or you know, like you can
- 41:45Speaker 3: do it that way.
- 41:46Speaker 6: But I just I can't, Like, do you have to
- 41:50Speaker 6: the floor of the running game is the blocking Okay?
- 41:54Speaker 6: The floor like how good your body?
- 41:55Speaker 8: Like?
- 41:55Speaker 6: Your floor is is blocking schemes, system and the infrastructure
- 42:01Speaker 6: around the running back. Yeah, so the running backs the
- 42:03Speaker 6: finishing touch, right Sakuon Barkley in Philadelphia, he comes in
- 42:07Speaker 6: and he takes their running game from a B plus
- 42:09Speaker 6: to an A plus because he's really good. Okay, but
- 42:11Speaker 6: if you have an f as your infrastructure to the
- 42:14Speaker 6: running game, the running back is not going to make
- 42:16Speaker 6: it any better.
- 42:17Speaker 3: Okay for one year, but what if the next year
- 42:19Speaker 3: you do add those pieces.
- 42:20Speaker 6: Okay, so we're just gonna kick the can down the
- 42:22Speaker 6: road on left tackle and receiver again, like we're just
- 42:25Speaker 6: gonna be doing having the same conversations again.
- 42:27Speaker 8: Now you might have to regardless of My point is
- 42:30Speaker 8: if there was a left tackle.
- 42:32Speaker 3: If Orlando Brown was in this draft, it be a
- 42:34Speaker 3: no brainer or one of my I say, Orlando Brown,
- 42:37Speaker 3: I think Orlando, Yeah.
- 42:40Speaker 6: Now I would not.
- 42:42Speaker 3: If there was a blue chip tackle in this draft,
- 42:44Speaker 3: it would be a no brainer. That's the there isn't though, Okay,
- 42:47Speaker 3: and I think that this running back might be a
- 42:49Speaker 3: blue chipper.
- 42:50Speaker 6: Okay, you guys are higher on him than I.
- 42:53Speaker 4: I will just say that.
- 42:54Speaker 3: All we're doing is, you know, changing the order.
- 42:57Speaker 4: Of he and I don't have any problem with changing
- 42:59Speaker 4: the order. And I'm a little surprised than Patty just
- 43:01Speaker 4: alluded to this too a little bit too. I'm a
- 43:03Speaker 4: little surprised with how many people are out on so
- 43:08Speaker 4: many good players, because well, what good would that do.
- 43:13Speaker 4: They're not gonna They're not gonna make a Super Bowl
- 43:14Speaker 4: run this year anyway. Like right, They're so lacking in
- 43:18Speaker 4: talent that I think any players that you can get
- 43:21Speaker 4: that will increase your roster's talent level in general, you
- 43:26Speaker 4: should be in on.
- 43:27Speaker 6: But by how much. But like the gap between Remandre
- 43:30Speaker 6: and Genti, it's not the same as Viderien Lowe and
- 43:32Speaker 6: the tackle.
- 43:33Speaker 4: I started the whole thing by saying this, has nothing
- 43:35Speaker 4: to do with gent d Like I'm just saying, how
- 43:37Speaker 4: many you know? Like, well, T Higgins is available, Patriot's
- 43:40Speaker 4: not ready for t Higgins, Like they're not They're not
- 43:42Speaker 4: good enough. Why why spend the money now Brandon Nyuk
- 43:45Speaker 4: might be available. I don't want Brandon Nyuk. He played
- 43:47Speaker 4: like a turd last year, Like I don't know what
- 43:49Speaker 4: that even means, Like he got hurt, he tore his
- 43:52Speaker 4: a cl in the seventh game of the year, Like,
- 43:55Speaker 4: so he's a turd. Now let out if you do.
- 43:56Speaker 4: If you don't want him because you're worried about the knee,
- 43:59Speaker 4: that makes sense. I'm worried about the knee, especially explosive
- 44:03Speaker 4: players like that. Oftentimes it takes a whole year and
- 44:07Speaker 4: a lot of times they don't get it back at all.
- 44:10Speaker 4: So that's a concern if you don't want to give up,
- 44:12Speaker 4: to Evan's point, at what cost, If you don't want
- 44:14Speaker 4: to give up the resources that it would take to
- 44:16Speaker 4: get Brandon Ayuk. I get it. But people don't necessarily
- 44:20Speaker 4: want these good players because the Patriots are in a
- 44:23Speaker 4: position to get them. And it's like Mike said, it's
- 44:25Speaker 4: all like a flashback to last year. You can't take
- 44:29Speaker 4: Drake May because you're not ready for him. At some point,
- 44:32Speaker 4: your sole goal needs to be I don't care what
- 44:35Speaker 4: position they play, and I don't care what it takes.
- 44:37Speaker 4: We need to get better. And if Fred's theory can
- 44:41Speaker 4: come true and you can go from four wins to
- 44:43Speaker 4: eight wins, that's not acceptable to anybody.
- 44:48Speaker 3: Right.
- 44:48Speaker 4: It has to go from four to twelve like Washington did.
- 44:52Speaker 4: That's the only way you can rebuild one year all
- 44:54Speaker 4: at wants Bang. We have to go from nothing to
- 44:56Speaker 4: the NFC Championship, right, Like I think, you just need
- 44:59Speaker 4: to get better.
- 45:01Speaker 6: I don't think Gent makes you any better.
- 45:04Speaker 4: Again, this is not about Gent. This is not about
- 45:06Speaker 4: if it's Will Campbell. If it's Will Campbell, I'm fine.
- 45:09Speaker 4: Like this whole idea that you have to do it
- 45:13Speaker 4: this way I hate because I've seen so many different
- 45:16Speaker 4: teams do it so many different ways. Just get better
- 45:19Speaker 4: players and the rest will take care of itself. And
- 45:22Speaker 4: I understand Evan's reservations because I agree with Evan on
- 45:24Speaker 4: running back. I do this, But if this is just
- 45:27Speaker 4: thinking that Genty is head and shoulders better than Will
- 45:30Speaker 4: Campbell and Tyler Warren, then I would take him. I
- 45:33Speaker 4: don't believe he is. That's why I'm with Evan. But
- 45:36Speaker 4: if you thought that, I don't think that's a dumb pick.
- 45:38Speaker 3: Now, if you're telling me, a better offensive line makes
- 45:42Speaker 3: Drake May better and it makes the existing wide receivers better,
- 45:47Speaker 3: and okay, I get it, I get it. But you
- 45:52Speaker 3: know people are nobody's selling me on these these tackles.
- 45:56Speaker 6: Well that's I mean, I I don't know. I can't
- 45:59Speaker 6: sell you on the tack anymore than I've tried. But like,
- 46:02Speaker 6: I think the other thing that needs to be.
- 46:03Speaker 3: Saying, are you picking Will Campbell number four?
- 46:06Speaker 6: Yeah, I'd pick Will Campbell, okay, because I think that
- 46:08Speaker 6: Will Campbell elevates the talent level of your offensive line,
- 46:12Speaker 6: no matter if he ends up being a guard because
- 46:14Speaker 6: of the arms and he ends up being a guard,
- 46:16Speaker 6: your offensive line is gonna be a lot better with
- 46:18Speaker 6: Will Campbell on it than it is without it. Right,
- 46:20Speaker 6: And I'd say the same thing about armand Membu depending
- 46:23Speaker 6: on which side he plays, Like, I don't think it
- 46:25Speaker 6: especially at that position, it matters less and less right tackle,
- 46:28Speaker 6: left tackle, because there's a lot of really good guys
- 46:30Speaker 6: that rush over the right side too. So like it
- 46:33Speaker 6: doesn't necessarily make that big of a difference, But I
- 46:35Speaker 6: think it also has to be said in a draft
- 46:37Speaker 6: like this, like the running back class is absolutely stacked,
- 46:40Speaker 6: So you're talking about a class that's gonna have twenty
- 46:43Speaker 6: plus guys drafted in the first four rounds at the position.
- 46:47Speaker 6: So not only are we talking about is it the
- 46:49Speaker 6: most valuable position to draft for the Patriots, but we
- 46:52Speaker 6: also have to compare what's the drop off between genty
- 46:55Speaker 6: and the running backs that are going to go on
- 46:57Speaker 6: Day two in early Day three? And is that significant
- 47:00Speaker 6: enough to take genty at four? Like I think that
- 47:02Speaker 6: out of everything is why I just can't fathom any
- 47:04Speaker 6: team doing it. It's like, like, why would you draft
- 47:08Speaker 6: genty at four overall when you could draft somebody.
- 47:12Speaker 3: The only reason you would you think the gap is
- 47:15Speaker 3: bigger and you think Genty is that good. That's the
- 47:18Speaker 3: only reason you do.
- 47:19Speaker 6: Right, But when you combine the gap probably not being
- 47:23Speaker 6: as big, especially relative to other positions in the gaps
- 47:26Speaker 6: at those spots, with the positional value of running backs,
- 47:30Speaker 6: like it just inherently cannot be that big, Like we
- 47:32Speaker 6: just know that it's not that big period, Like Sakwon
- 47:35Speaker 6: Barkley is a fantastic running back, but even he is
- 47:39Speaker 6: not that much better than like the fifth or sixth
- 47:42Speaker 6: best running back in the league from a value standpoint.
- 47:45Speaker 6: So even if you look at gent and say he's
- 47:47Speaker 6: better than Amari and Hampton, or he's better than Cam Skataboo, like,
- 47:51Speaker 6: the actual impact on the field is not going to
- 47:53Speaker 6: be felt. Like you're gonna have very similar comparable stats
- 47:57Speaker 6: as long as the blocking and all that stuff is good.
- 48:00Speaker 6: So I just the drop off at that position is
- 48:03Speaker 6: just there's just so many guys there, like you could
- 48:06Speaker 6: list off, you know, every guy that ran a four
- 48:08Speaker 6: to four at the combine at that spot. It was
- 48:10Speaker 6: like ten guys in a row, you know.
- 48:12Speaker 4: But there were a lot of people like when you
- 48:14Speaker 4: listen to them, you know, Cooper Cup. We talked a
- 48:15Speaker 4: lot about Cooper Cup and Fred by the way, I'll
- 48:18Speaker 4: give you your flowers as you kids say. There was
- 48:21Speaker 4: there was a market form a bigger market than I thought.
- 48:23Speaker 3: It would be fifteen million three years.
- 48:25Speaker 4: That's but I also think that there was some interest
- 48:27Speaker 4: in him. I didn't I thought there would be one
- 48:29Speaker 4: of two teams. It seemed like there was more than that.
- 48:31Speaker 4: And certainly fifteen million. I know that's fake money, but yeah,
- 48:34Speaker 4: fifteen millions is a higher you know average than I
- 48:38Speaker 4: was anticipating. So you were right on that one. See
- 48:42Speaker 4: I don't always, I don't always just take my ball
- 48:45Speaker 4: and go home. I actually sent that to Fred over
- 48:48Speaker 4: the weekend when I saw all the the Cup. But
- 48:51Speaker 4: people didn't want Cup, like people don't didn't want DK Metcalf. No, no, no,
- 48:55Speaker 4: we're not ready for him. That's not gonna We're not ready.
- 48:59Speaker 4: We're not We're not going to at some point. You
- 49:02Speaker 4: just have to find a way to get better players
- 49:04Speaker 4: to help your young players look better and progress and
- 49:07Speaker 4: develop as much as they can. Lineman, Absolutely, you need
- 49:11Speaker 4: better Lineman, you need better everything better coaching. Why did
- 49:15Speaker 4: they it's all about the defense? Why is all a
- 49:18Speaker 4: free agentcy? Because the defense stunk too. They needed to
- 49:21Speaker 4: fix the defense just as much as the offense. They
- 49:23Speaker 4: went out and they did that. You know, they got Spolene,
- 49:26Speaker 4: they got Harold Landry, they got Milton Williams, Carlton Davis.
- 49:30Speaker 4: Like they needed those players. They're all going to start.
- 49:32Speaker 3: And those were lower hanging fruits, so like take take them,
- 49:35Speaker 3: make those apples and then we'll go for the ones
- 49:37Speaker 3: that are a little higher up.
- 49:39Speaker 8: It makes you feel a little bit better looking at
- 49:41Speaker 8: it at four. Overall, from that perspective of that, they're
- 49:44Speaker 8: probably going to get better. And I think you know,
- 49:46Speaker 8: you just wanted them to hit the home run. You know,
- 49:48Speaker 8: you want them to take the guy that five years
- 49:50Speaker 8: from now when you look back, you say, yeah, he
- 49:52Speaker 8: was staring us in the face.
- 49:53Speaker 4: And we and if it's genty, you'll be mocking Evan And.
- 49:59Speaker 6: I like, and I'll lay down my sword here and
- 50:02Speaker 6: a second on the gent thing. But like, how could
- 50:06Speaker 6: it be genty? Like he's literally gonna have to be
- 50:09Speaker 6: like Walter Payton for it to be genty. We still
- 50:12Speaker 6: entertained the possibility because I just I don't I don't
- 50:16Speaker 6: see the vision of like unless you're projecting that he's
- 50:19Speaker 6: gonna be Ladanian Tomlinson, Like I like, did where's how.
- 50:23Speaker 4: Do you how he and Thomlinson sign me up?
- 50:26Speaker 3: Right?
- 50:26Speaker 6: But he's not gonna be Ladanian Thomlins.
- 50:28Speaker 3: You would have to think that that's who we you know, he's.
- 50:30Speaker 6: Of that caliber, right, Like if he's just gonna be
- 50:33Speaker 6: you know the other comp A lot of people used
- 50:35Speaker 6: for him is like Alvin Kamara, who's like a really
- 50:38Speaker 6: good player, but like that's not like Ladanian Tomlinson.
- 50:41Speaker 3: But it's so funny. It just shows you the value
- 50:44Speaker 3: of that position now because like for Will Campbell, we're like, man,
- 50:47Speaker 3: as long as he's serviceable and he can play the position,
- 50:50Speaker 3: it'll be fine. That's not the case with running back.
- 50:54Speaker 3: He's gotta be Walter.
- 50:55Speaker 4: I don't want a serviceable Taco at number four, Like
- 50:58Speaker 4: I wouldn't want Matt Light put the fourth.
- 51:00Speaker 3: Well, that's who you're gonna get.
- 51:01Speaker 4: Yeah, so that's I would be out if that's if
- 51:03Speaker 4: that's his ceiling is serviceable. I want the elite SEC
- 51:07Speaker 4: tackle that played for three years and he can play tackle.
- 51:11Speaker 4: But if they think his ceiling is just he could
- 51:14Speaker 4: play tackle. But if Matt Light was a really good
- 51:17Speaker 4: Patriot for a decade.
- 51:18Speaker 3: Yeah, and that's what I think.
- 51:19Speaker 4: But he was a second round pick, right, I wouldn't
- 51:21Speaker 4: have wanted that at the fourth overall pick. I don't
- 51:23Speaker 4: think he was that level of a tackle.
- 51:24Speaker 3: But this year, that's what you if you if you
- 51:27Speaker 3: end up getting a ten year tackle for your team
- 51:29Speaker 3: out of this fourth pick, you're you're okay with that.
- 51:32Speaker 4: But is he just playing or is he excelling?
- 51:34Speaker 3: Well, least he starts, he never loses the job.
- 51:37Speaker 6: Yeah, I think that. You know, that's a good point
- 51:39Speaker 6: by Fred.
- 51:39Speaker 4: It just like to get it in this draft.
- 51:42Speaker 6: And I've had to go through my own thing with
- 51:44Speaker 6: this draft, and like I think Teed McMillan for me
- 51:46Speaker 6: is probably the biggest one with this example. But like
- 51:49Speaker 6: it's just not a great year. So Teed McMillan. No,
- 51:53Speaker 6: he's not Malik Neighbors, Like, he's not Marvin Harrison junior
- 51:57Speaker 6: as a prospect, but in this draft other than Hunter,
- 52:00Speaker 6: he's the best receiver in the draft. Will Campbell is
- 52:03Speaker 6: not Jolt. Jolt is not in this draft, like, but
- 52:07Speaker 6: Will Campbell's the best tackle in this draft. So unfortunately,
- 52:11Speaker 6: like he's worth the fourth overall pick in this class.
- 52:13Speaker 4: Yeah, someone's gonna go forth.
- 52:15Speaker 8: He keeps saying, Hey, I got two questions for you it.
- 52:17Speaker 8: First of all, did you try to talk yourself into
- 52:19Speaker 8: Tech McMillan in this mocked draft?
- 52:20Speaker 5: Und tried to get there? You couldn't. And what was
- 52:22Speaker 5: b What's Bart's feeling on all this? I need to
- 52:24Speaker 5: know Bart's feelings on all Well.
- 52:25Speaker 6: It was funny because when when Coffee Boy there broke
- 52:28Speaker 6: four four eight and like that was the scoop that
- 52:30Speaker 6: it was four four eight. He was texting me in
- 52:32Speaker 6: like four four eight, Oh my god, And I was like,
- 52:35Speaker 6: there's no way.
- 52:36Speaker 4: He's too savvy. No, you just completely ignore pro date time.
- 52:40Speaker 6: I was like, there's no way he ran a four
- 52:42Speaker 6: four eight and I probably at least a ten slower.
- 52:44Speaker 3: Will Campbell's gonna have thirty five inches.
- 52:46Speaker 6: Yeah, So I like, you know, this is jokingly, jokingly,
- 52:49Speaker 6: but I'll text him like gifts of like sloss when
- 52:52Speaker 6: he talks to me about tech McMillan, you know, like
- 52:55Speaker 6: you know, like guys moving in slow.
- 52:57Speaker 4: Motion, like called Will Clark three toward slot. Yeah.
- 53:01Speaker 6: Now, I've I tried to talk myself into it, and
- 53:04Speaker 6: again it goes back to what I just said, you
- 53:05Speaker 6: have to adjust your thinking to this talent role. Right,
- 53:09Speaker 6: Like he's no, he would not be the fourth overall
- 53:11Speaker 6: pick in last year's draft, right, But I think what
- 53:14Speaker 6: we see even rookie seasons, last year's draft was a
- 53:16Speaker 6: hell of a draft. Like it looks like that draft
- 53:18Speaker 6: is gonna be one of the best drafts we've had
- 53:20Speaker 6: in recent memories.
- 53:21Speaker 4: So like you have to just adjust first three receivers.
- 53:24Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, we're gonna take a break. My foods here.
- 53:27Speaker 3: When we come back. We've got a ton of emails,

- 55:17Speaker 7: I want to thank Robert and Jonathan's not able to
- 55:20Speaker 7: be here today, but I want to thank them on
- 55:23Speaker 7: behalf of just the coaching staff. I think the personnel
- 55:26Speaker 7: an echo Elliott's comments just about the support and the
- 55:29Speaker 7: commitment that they've made.
- 55:33Speaker 9: Just in getting this.
- 55:33Speaker 7: Process and this just being able to build a program
- 55:38Speaker 7: every single day and allow us to have the resources
- 55:41Speaker 7: that we've needed to do that to provide our players
- 55:45Speaker 7: with everything that they need to be successful on and
- 55:47Speaker 7: off the field. So thank you, Thank.
- 55:50Speaker 9: You, Robert. I want to thank Elliott.
- 55:53Speaker 7: I want to thank his personnel department, specifically to pro
- 55:56Speaker 7: Scouts and that staff that really teed it up for
- 56:00Speaker 7: for me and the coaches to come in and and
- 56:03Speaker 7: evaluate as we work through the personnel you know stage
- 56:08Speaker 7: and in the preliminary stages of that, so you know,
- 56:11Speaker 7: I thought they did a great job.
- 56:12Speaker 9: I want to thank them.
- 56:14Speaker 7: Would love to thank Nancy Meyer and Stretch for for
- 56:17Speaker 7: kind of coordinating everything.
- 56:20Speaker 9: Everything moves pretty quick.
- 56:21Speaker 7: And they kept us in line and they kept us
- 56:25Speaker 7: and they handled travel and just the communication and getting
- 56:27Speaker 7: everybody here, So I want to thank them. I would
- 56:30Speaker 7: love to thank Ritchie and Mitch and and and Halle
- 56:33Speaker 7: who are going to form our player engagement on department
- 56:36Speaker 7: and the being able to just meet with these families
- 56:38Speaker 7: and visit and help this transition that you know, there's
- 56:42Speaker 7: going to be some new players here, there's many new
- 56:43Speaker 7: faces here, and that that department is critical and you
- 56:46Speaker 7: know we want to support them. The I want to
- 56:50Speaker 7: thank specifically our little free agent group which was Me, Elliott,
- 56:54Speaker 7: Ryan Cowd and Matt grow Richard Miller. That we were
- 56:58Speaker 7: firing them off left and right, just trying to get
- 57:00Speaker 7: back touched, go pivot.
- 57:04Speaker 9: Because everything happens pretty quick.
- 57:06Speaker 7: And uh, that was fun just being able to everybody,
- 57:09Speaker 7: you know, work at a different angle, Uh, getting the
- 57:12Speaker 7: contracts done, communicating on that, going to plan B and
- 57:17Speaker 7: and really it was fun. And and we're excited about
- 57:19Speaker 7: the players that we had. And you can see that.
- 57:23Speaker 7: You know, once you get to know these these players
- 57:25Speaker 7: and these men that that we we're going to be
- 57:28Speaker 7: just as excited as them off the field as we
- 57:31Speaker 7: are on the field. But I want to welcome you guys.
- 57:35Speaker 7: I want to welcome you. Guys are our Patriot family.
- 57:37Speaker 7: And I think that we were all excited about getting
- 57:41Speaker 7: you as players, but then when we met in the
- 57:45Speaker 7: in the hallway and met your families, were even more
- 57:47Speaker 7: excited to meet your support system and understand.
- 57:51Speaker 9: Why you guys are the way you are.
- 57:53Speaker 7: And you know, we're gonna We're gonna support the things
- 57:56Speaker 7: and the people that are important in your life.
- 57:58Speaker 9: That's what we believe in.
- 57:59Speaker 7: We believe in make and connections and making sure that
- 58:03Speaker 7: then when they come to work here, or that we're
- 58:05Speaker 7: doing everything we can so that we can we can
- 58:07Speaker 7: put the product on the field that Robert talked about,
- 58:10Speaker 7: and that's a that's a championship product, and that starts
- 58:12Speaker 7: by investing in people and and and I'm confident that
- 58:16Speaker 7: we got the right people and then now it's our
- 58:18Speaker 7: job to put him in the right places UH as
- 58:21Speaker 7: players to get the best out of them.
- 58:23Speaker 9: Until I'm excited to to start that process so that that.
- 58:28Speaker 7: UH, I'll I guess I'll take a few c UH
- 58:31Speaker 7: questions as it relates to some of the players, and
- 58:33Speaker 7: then what we plan on doing going forward, Karen, I'm
- 58:37Speaker 7: on Karen.
- 58:42Speaker 19: In prior meetings with us, you've talked about UH wanting
- 58:47Speaker 19: to support Drake Bay and protecting him with an improved
- 58:51Speaker 19: offensive line.
- 58:53Speaker 11: UH.
- 58:54Speaker 19: With the news of the release of David Andrews today,
- 58:59Speaker 19: they're now appear multiple holes to fill. Have things not
- 59:04Speaker 19: gone according to plan? And are you now forced to
- 59:08Speaker 19: draft for need in that area?
- 59:11Speaker 9: No, I think that there's a lot there. Karen.
- 59:14Speaker 7: You mentioned David and want to thank him, you know,
- 59:17Speaker 7: having played at this organization, not quite as long as
- 59:20Speaker 7: he had, but but being here. I want to thank
- 59:23Speaker 7: him for that, for for being here and carrying on
- 59:26Speaker 7: a tradition that so many great players before him had.
- 59:29Speaker 7: We're going to continue to support as Elliott Elliott mentioned,
- 59:33Speaker 7: the needs that we feel like are on the team,
- 59:36Speaker 7: and we'll target the offensive line. There's still quite a
- 59:39Speaker 7: bit of time before we get to the draft, but
- 59:43Speaker 7: but there's also you know, we we don't want to
- 59:45Speaker 7: just be careless, right we talked about there's a difference.
- 59:48Speaker 9: We want our players to play aggressive.
- 59:50Speaker 7: We don't want him to play reckless, and so we
- 59:52Speaker 7: don't want to be reckless through this process. We want
- 59:55Speaker 7: to be very intentional with the with the people that
- 59:58Speaker 7: we bring on this football team, and we'll we'll continue
- 1:00:01Speaker 7: to target all those needs that we feel like and
- 1:00:04Speaker 7: the players that can help us.
- 1:00:05Speaker 6: Thank you, hey, Mike.
- 1:00:09Speaker 20: When with Milton Williams, there was a report that he
- 1:00:11Speaker 20: was close to signing to another team, and I think
- 1:00:13Speaker 20: like an hour or so later, you know, you guys
- 1:00:15Speaker 20: finalized a deal with him. Can you take us through
- 1:00:17Speaker 20: the emotions of sort of that swing and what was
- 1:00:19Speaker 20: it about Milton that made you guys feel comfortable to
- 1:00:21Speaker 20: give him the deal you did?
- 1:00:24Speaker 7: Well, I think it's always about the entire package. When
- 1:00:27Speaker 7: you look at compensation, right, it's the it's the body
- 1:00:29Speaker 7: of work, it's the what they're going to do for us.
- 1:00:33Speaker 7: We always want to be able to, you know, not
- 1:00:36Speaker 7: rely on on past performances, but that was something there's
- 1:00:40Speaker 7: a there's a high ceiling and a great vision about
- 1:00:43Speaker 7: the person, the effort, the skill set, you know, the
- 1:00:47Speaker 7: speed in which he plays, there's a there's a power,
- 1:00:51Speaker 7: so certainly there's an aggressiveness and being able to add
- 1:00:54Speaker 7: him to our defensive line is something that was really exciting,
- 1:00:59Speaker 7: you know.
- 1:00:59Speaker 9: But you talk about the character and.
- 1:01:01Speaker 7: Hopefully we're going to be able to I hope you
- 1:01:03Speaker 7: want to play more than then. They're played in Philadelphia
- 1:01:07Speaker 7: and I know that you guys are extremely successful, but
- 1:01:09Speaker 7: we want to play them a little bit more than that,
- 1:01:11Speaker 7: and hope we can do that.
- 1:01:14Speaker 9: You know, you just try to.
- 1:01:17Speaker 7: You do your best in a short amount of time
- 1:01:19Speaker 7: to make a connection with the player and kind of
- 1:01:24Speaker 7: what we are, right, we don't want to sell anything
- 1:01:26Speaker 7: like what we want to sell is just who we are.
- 1:01:28Speaker 7: It's not we want them to want to be here,
- 1:01:31Speaker 7: and then if they want to be here and we
- 1:01:33Speaker 7: want them, we'll figure out a way to make it
- 1:01:36Speaker 7: work contractually, but they we want people and players that
- 1:01:40Speaker 7: want to be here, that want to be a part
- 1:01:42Speaker 7: of what we're doing. And that's what these guys are
- 1:01:44Speaker 7: and there'll be more that come along after them.
- 1:01:51Speaker 21: Hey, Mike uh Town, you mentioned you didn't want to
- 1:01:55Speaker 21: be selling people, but the reality of having had to
- 1:01:59Speaker 21: unsuccessful see and then ending up at the top of
- 1:02:01Speaker 21: the draft, you had to make some kind of a
- 1:02:03Speaker 21: pitch to convince guys. And we'll certainly ask them about
- 1:02:06Speaker 21: it too, But what was your main pitch to say, Hey,
- 1:02:09Speaker 21: I know it on paper has not been positive the
- 1:02:13Speaker 21: last two years, but this is what we're building.
- 1:02:15Speaker 9: What was what was the.
- 1:02:16Speaker 21: Main thing you were articulating to these guys and convincing them.
- 1:02:20Speaker 7: I mean, just just who we are as people that
- 1:02:22Speaker 7: we're gonna we're gonna care about them. We're going to
- 1:02:24Speaker 7: push them about the team. Right, you have to target
- 1:02:28Speaker 7: the right player, you know, making sure that that our
- 1:02:31Speaker 7: vision and want them to help us build a program
- 1:02:34Speaker 7: that that when the players walk back in here on
- 1:02:36Speaker 7: April seventh, that they're proud of that they want to
- 1:02:38Speaker 7: protect that they call their own. You know, just what
- 1:02:43Speaker 7: we've we've done and what were the relationships that we
- 1:02:46Speaker 7: try to make and and what we want to build
- 1:02:49Speaker 7: the entire player around and then put them in good spots.
- 1:02:52Speaker 7: And I think we've been able to to put some players,
- 1:02:55Speaker 7: specifically Milton, put players like that in our history of
- 1:02:59Speaker 7: coaching and good spot to be productive and make plays
- 1:03:02Speaker 7: that can help the team win.
- 1:03:06Speaker 9: Hi, Mike, Hi, Sophie.
- 1:03:07Speaker 22: I was just curious there were the reports about you
- 1:03:09Speaker 22: guys going after Chris god when obviously he resigned with
- 1:03:12Speaker 22: Tampa Bay. I'm curious what your thoughts are, what your
- 1:03:15Speaker 22: plan is at the wide receiver position, and how you
- 1:03:17Speaker 22: plan to address that, whether it's free agency or the draft.
- 1:03:21Speaker 7: Yeah, I'm not gonna talk about any of the players.
- 1:03:24Speaker 7: Are the ones that are right here and the ones
- 1:03:25Speaker 7: that are gonna currently on our football team. We'll continue
- 1:03:29Speaker 7: to target. Matt Collins will be in here tomorrow. He's
- 1:03:31Speaker 7: a wide receiver, you know. But we'll continue to look
- 1:03:35Speaker 7: at the wide receiver position as it relates through free agency,
- 1:03:40Speaker 7: explore every option uh with other teams, and potentially, you know,
- 1:03:45Speaker 7: then we'll get to the point where we're where we're
- 1:03:47Speaker 7: looking in the draft, and there's just a lot of
- 1:03:49Speaker 7: time and I know that everybody's like it's over at
- 1:03:51Speaker 7: free agency.
- 1:03:52Speaker 9: It's it's never over. And and Zoe's you know, wherever
- 1:03:55Speaker 9: Alonso is. I don't know, but he keeps reminding me and.
- 1:03:59Speaker 7: I think everybody else that because he's been around a
- 1:04:01Speaker 7: lot of times. He's like, there's players that are going
- 1:04:03Speaker 7: to come available, whether it be now, or whether it
- 1:04:05Speaker 7: be in May or after training camp. Like it's just
- 1:04:09Speaker 7: he's like, I've seen it enough to know that there's
- 1:04:11Speaker 7: going to be someone that's currently not on our roster
- 1:04:14Speaker 7: that's going to help us win a game this year.
- 1:04:16Speaker 9: We just he's not in Foxboro.
- 1:04:21Speaker 11: Hill.
- 1:04:23Speaker 4: Hey, Mike, what do you remember about Robert Spoline when
- 1:04:26Speaker 4: he first came to Tennessee as a trial player?
- 1:04:29Speaker 3: And just what do you think about the crew that
- 1:04:31Speaker 3: he's put together since then?
- 1:04:33Speaker 9: Well, I mean it was just you couldn't you know.
- 1:04:35Speaker 7: We went out to practice and he didn't make any
- 1:04:38Speaker 7: mental mayors. He was athletic, he was excellent in this
- 1:04:41Speaker 7: open field tackling drill. Did the same thing the next day,
- 1:04:45Speaker 7: did the same thing on Sunday. You know, it got
- 1:04:47Speaker 7: to be a joke where we would just keep throwing
- 1:04:49Speaker 7: them in and be like, hey, let's see if somebody
- 1:04:50Speaker 7: can make Splaine miss. And then you know, John Robinson
- 1:04:54Speaker 7: and I were just like, we have to have him
- 1:04:57Speaker 7: on the football team. And I think he's earned the
- 1:04:59Speaker 7: right to be here on those three days. And you know,
- 1:05:03Speaker 7: Robert may Or may not share this story, but he
- 1:05:06Speaker 7: got that we told him and it was on Mother's
- 1:05:08Speaker 7: Day and he got to call his mom and it
- 1:05:09Speaker 7: was you know, it was pretty special, you know, especially
- 1:05:12Speaker 7: for me being a young football coach or a young
- 1:05:15Speaker 7: head coach, to be able to see a player that
- 1:05:18Speaker 7: had earned the right like we didn't hand him anything.
- 1:05:20Speaker 7: Like That's what we want for every single player on
- 1:05:22Speaker 7: our team. We want them to earn everything that they get.
- 1:05:25Speaker 7: And that was an example of what he earned his
- 1:05:28Speaker 7: opportunity in the National Football League. So that's no surprise
- 1:05:32Speaker 7: of the career that he's had based on how it started.
- 1:05:36Speaker 3: And now great moments in history. Sam's and San fran Cisco.
- 1:05:44Speaker 3: They don't like it when they say Sam Frae, Frisco.
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: I thought they didn't like. You're right, Frisco. They don't like.
- 1:05:51Speaker 4: They don't like that.
- 1:05:52Speaker 3: They don't like Frisco. And people in Oregon don't like
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: when you say Oregon with that Frisco che fresh comb.
- 1:06:02Speaker 4: What is what is francs.
- 1:06:07Speaker 18: Between this and you're analyzing Bill's fine.
- 1:06:12Speaker 4: Oh, the Bill swooting thing is the tamest thing he's
- 1:06:14Speaker 4: got going right now. I won't forget you.
- 1:06:18Speaker 23: Yeah, I told I, Well, I guess I should tell
- 1:06:20Speaker 23: I went so back.
- 1:06:22Speaker 5: This is a little side story.
- 1:06:23Speaker 8: But back when Brady got hurt in two thousand and eight,
- 1:06:25Speaker 8: I made a video and.
- 1:06:27Speaker 4: I should probably share it with Matt.
- 1:06:28Speaker 3: It is on YouTube.
- 1:06:29Speaker 8: I made a music video of set to the tune
- 1:06:31Speaker 8: of poisons, I Won't Forget You Baby. But I made
- 1:06:34Speaker 8: an I Won't Forget You Brady music video that was
- 1:06:37Speaker 8: very very still hired him, but I was saying, you know.
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: If it didn't come up on the search, no, that's
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: another great moment.
- 1:06:46Speaker 3: From Patriots Unfiltered is sponsored by the Massachusetts two fifty campaign,
- 1:06:53Speaker 3: commemorating a history of possibility, Plan your revolutionary weekend at
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: Massachusetts two fifty dot.
- 1:06:59Speaker 8: Org and conquered, you know, to the Boston Tea party ship.
- 1:07:05Speaker 4: Yeah, just like Mike's district. Like you play these old
- 1:07:08Speaker 4: clips and he's just like singing, I say in the.
- 1:07:11Speaker 3: Background, he was meant for Broadway. You know, he really missed.
- 1:07:16Speaker 8: I crushed it as Luther billis in South Pacific in
- 1:07:18Speaker 8: fifth grade and I'm still trying to get back to
- 1:07:20Speaker 8: that point.
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: Really should have been Broadway.
- 1:07:22Speaker 4: Evan just looks at me, he goes, so he was always.
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: Like this, Yeah, I could see you, you know, being
- 1:07:27Speaker 3: King Arthur and Camelot.
- 1:07:31Speaker 6: This one's just out there.
- 1:07:33Speaker 5: Actually, maybe we.
- 1:07:33Speaker 6: Should uses to.
- 1:07:36Speaker 2: This one's the micro made his name in blogging, and
- 1:07:40Speaker 2: he's a youth hockey with for me. Don't you ever
- 1:07:44Speaker 2: forget those twenty eight to three ties. He's less in
- 1:07:48Speaker 2: the picks and he's taking negative, but he knows his
- 1:07:53Speaker 2: hoodies and he knows them good.
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: Did you know that he used.
- 1:07:55Speaker 2: To live in Holly would Okay, this one's from this,
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: one's from this.
- 1:08:16Speaker 4: That's great.
- 1:08:16Speaker 5: Did you guys want to hear some tweets?
- 1:08:18Speaker 3: I would love to hear somets.
- 1:08:20Speaker 5: I would call them mean that.
- 1:08:21Speaker 8: So maybe some of them are, but I call them
- 1:08:22Speaker 8: more angry to the.
- 1:08:23Speaker 4: One I sent, the one that you're gonna read from me?
- 1:08:25Speaker 5: Is this mean that there's one?
- 1:08:26Speaker 8: Yeah, there is one that I included up from Paul,
- 1:08:28Speaker 8: but I screenshot at some of these so uh, in
- 1:08:30Speaker 8: no particular order.
- 1:08:32Speaker 5: Here's one.
- 1:08:32Speaker 8: I'm still pissed, y'all post this. Never associate with Mike again.
- 1:08:37Speaker 9: That's not too much.
- 1:08:38Speaker 5: I will.
- 1:08:39Speaker 4: That's not mean.
- 1:08:41Speaker 3: I will associated.
- 1:08:42Speaker 8: I will commit seppuku at the lighthouse if that happens.
- 1:08:46Speaker 8: That was from Fat Mac Jones. It's at Fat Mac
- 1:08:49Speaker 8: Jones if you want to hit him up.
- 1:08:51Speaker 9: Uh.
- 1:08:52Speaker 8: If we drafted RB in the first round, I will
- 1:08:54Speaker 8: personally show up in camp and fling feces at Rabel.
- 1:08:57Speaker 8: Good luck, Marty the party eighty two.
- 1:08:59Speaker 6: Or that one.
- 1:09:02Speaker 8: Delete this and fire whoever Mike is. Okay, I want
- 1:09:07Speaker 8: to fire Elliot Wolf for you even posting this. Mike
- 1:09:12Speaker 8: is an idiot. Just straight to the point, you know,
- 1:09:15Speaker 8: ha ha. The first pick is just to torture p
- 1:09:17Speaker 8: f W Paul and see if he will get up
- 1:09:20Speaker 8: and leave in the.
- 1:09:20Speaker 5: Middle of the live draft pot.
- 1:09:22Speaker 8: Pretty close stuff, now this one. This guy, this guy
- 1:09:26Speaker 8: went next level. This guy went next level. This is
- 1:09:29Speaker 8: not real. Trying to throw other teams off, so you know.
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: The bidding of the front.
- 1:09:38Speaker 8: Uh, Mike, who this is worse than drafting Sony Michelle
- 1:09:42Speaker 8: in the first round. Yeah, and then the last one,
- 1:09:47Speaker 8: best Mark I've ever seen. Well done, genty is the
- 1:09:49Speaker 8: only choice at the first pick.
- 1:09:51Speaker 9: There you go.
- 1:09:53Speaker 4: You're welcome.
- 1:09:56Speaker 3: So when I checked last night, the Patriots tweet had
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: your graphics had over five hundred thousand views, and so
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: I imagine it's probably over a million now, right. You
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: know you're really just trying.
- 1:10:08Speaker 8: I'm trying to riled up the nation, trying to start conversation.
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: But now I.
- 1:10:12Speaker 8: Appreciate all the you know, everybody reaching out.
- 1:10:14Speaker 3: So yeah, I'm good.
- 1:10:15Speaker 8: Start, great, thanks, Wait for my next monk next week.
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: Yeah, something totally different, all right? That five hundred is
- 1:10:24Speaker 3: the hotline podcast at patriots dot com is the email address.
- 1:10:29Speaker 3: Let's get some people off the phone here. Christians in La.
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: What's up, Christian?
- 1:10:35Speaker 23: Hey you guys, how are you doing today?
- 1:10:37Speaker 5: Hey?
- 1:10:38Speaker 4: Hey man?
- 1:10:39Speaker 3: All right, great, So.
- 1:10:40Speaker 23: I'm gonna I'm gonna die right into that. I know
- 1:10:42Speaker 23: I'm probably too shows, too late, but I've been trying
- 1:10:44Speaker 23: to get in but I just got to say this,
- 1:10:46Speaker 23: And I'm going to use an analogy of you can't
- 1:10:49Speaker 23: use limes to make lemonade. Yes, it'll be lime a,
- 1:10:53Speaker 23: which is kind of like lemonade, but it's not lemonade.
- 1:10:55Speaker 23: And what I mean to say is, with no disrespect
- 1:10:57Speaker 23: to Mike Krable, I think what he's done this is
- 1:11:00Speaker 23: going to boost our defense and we're gonna win some
- 1:11:02Speaker 23: games possibly because.
- 1:11:03Speaker 14: Of our defense.
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: This year.
- 1:11:05Speaker 23: However, it seems like we're trapped in this weird like
- 1:11:08Speaker 23: twilight zone thing where we think defensive coaches are gonna
- 1:11:12Speaker 23: ever fix or give us a great offense. Right, we
- 1:11:15Speaker 23: had Bill Belichick, and yes he was the greatest defensive
- 1:11:18Speaker 23: coach ever, but he also happened to have the greatest
- 1:11:21Speaker 23: quarterback ever, and as soon as the greatest quarterback left, Bill.
- 1:11:24Speaker 14: Couldn't really win.
- 1:11:25Speaker 23: We went from that to hiring a defensive coordinator to
- 1:11:29Speaker 23: fix the offense, and that was a disaster. We went
- 1:11:33Speaker 23: from there to hiring a first time coach who was
- 1:11:36Speaker 23: a defensive player to fix the team and the offense.
- 1:11:40Speaker 23: And now we've gone to a guy and again with
- 1:11:42Speaker 23: respective Raible and what he's done so far in his
- 1:11:45Speaker 23: last tenure, decided to trade premium offensive players to try
- 1:11:48Speaker 23: to help bolster his defense, which got him fired. And
- 1:11:51Speaker 23: now in his first moved really here in New England,
- 1:11:55Speaker 23: whether it seemed to have a choice or not, he
- 1:11:57Speaker 23: fostered the defense first. We're going into a draft where
- 1:12:01Speaker 23: it seems like a premium talent at least value wise,
- 1:12:05Speaker 23: is on the defensive side.
- 1:12:06Speaker 14: Well, even with the few guys that.
- 1:12:07Speaker 23: We want the most, like Hunter and Carter, is it
- 1:12:11Speaker 23: possible that something that we're rooted in.
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: No, And I hear what you're saying it, but you
- 1:12:17Speaker 3: can't forget and you can criticize them for not getting
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: the job done, But they tried to throw big money
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: at offensive players. They just didn't get it done, you know,
- 1:12:28Speaker 3: So I don't think that you know they would. They
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: did try to bring in some really high priced offensive players.
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: I don't think they're ignoring do you think do.
- 1:12:40Speaker 23: You guys think they're having an offensive minded coach? What
- 1:12:42Speaker 23: even changed the strategy of who we go after on
- 1:12:46Speaker 23: the offensive side and how they feel about us. Like
- 1:12:49Speaker 23: if I was a premium offensive player, I would not
- 1:12:51Speaker 23: be excited to go to a team that's the defensive
- 1:12:54Speaker 23: focus team with the guy who doesn't know how to
- 1:12:56Speaker 23: coach oftense.
- 1:12:57Speaker 6: But what is where are you getting that from? Like
- 1:13:00Speaker 6: we're a week into free agency, Like this is kind
- 1:13:03Speaker 6: of starting to bug me just in general, not with
- 1:13:05Speaker 6: Christian but but like that they're neglecting the offense. There's
- 1:13:10Speaker 6: an entire draft that still has yet to come, and
- 1:13:12Speaker 6: I understand that a lot of people don't have a
- 1:13:14Speaker 6: ton of trust right now in their ability to draft.
- 1:13:16Speaker 6: But like, if we're gonna sit here and hold Nikhil
- 1:13:19Speaker 6: Harry and Taekwon Thornton and these guys against Mike Rabel
- 1:13:22Speaker 6: and Ryan Cowden who were in Tennessee coaching an entirely
- 1:13:25Speaker 6: different team, Like I mean, we're gonna we're gonna hold
- 1:13:28Speaker 6: Aaron Dobson against them too, like in Chad Jackson, and
- 1:13:32Speaker 6: we'll go right down the line, Like I don't I
- 1:13:34Speaker 6: don't see how that's relevant. So, like they're gonna address
- 1:13:37Speaker 6: the offense. They're gonna take big swings on offense. It
- 1:13:40Speaker 6: might come through the draft and you might all be
- 1:13:42Speaker 6: wary of that, but this offense is they're not gonna
- 1:13:45Speaker 6: put this offense on the field in September, Like they're
- 1:13:48Speaker 6: gonna have additions to the offense come September. So I
- 1:13:51Speaker 6: just I don't think that it's an offensive, you know,
- 1:13:54Speaker 6: like they're neglecting it or that it's he's only able
- 1:13:57Speaker 6: to coach defense, and they're just like he didn't get
- 1:14:00Speaker 6: fired because he traded a J.
- 1:14:01Speaker 9: Brown.
- 1:14:01Speaker 6: John Robinson got fired because he traded a J.
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: Brown, Right, Christian does have a point it's valid is
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: if you had an offensive minded head coach, would that
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: be more attractive to maybe at least one of these
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: guys that they swung and missed on.
- 1:14:20Speaker 4: Okay, so I'm gonna step back for a second. I
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: do There's no way of knowing that for sure, but
- 1:14:25Speaker 4: I do think that that is probably part of the equation.
- 1:14:31Speaker 4: But just just I'm just going on this year because
- 1:14:33Speaker 4: that's all I can go on is Mike Rabel, Ryan Cowden,
- 1:14:37Speaker 4: Elliott Wolfe and how they're trying to put together the
- 1:14:40Speaker 4: twenty five Patriots. There wasn't a lot. I mean, I'm
- 1:14:45Speaker 4: not even going into my old argument of the defense
- 1:14:47Speaker 4: needed just as much attention as the offense, because I
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: think it did. But where would the the opportunities lost,
- 1:14:55Speaker 4: specifically on offensive players. I would say that most the
- 1:15:00Speaker 4: good offensive players that changed teams were trades, like I
- 1:15:04Speaker 4: think DK Metcalf would have made some sense for the Patriots.
- 1:15:07Speaker 4: And to my knowledge, and you correct me, they went
- 1:15:11Speaker 4: after Chris Godwin, yeah, and didn't and didn't get them.
- 1:15:14Speaker 3: He stayed put.
- 1:15:14Speaker 4: Who else did they go after Cooper Cup.
- 1:15:17Speaker 3: Did they I think they were in on it. Yeah, absolutely, Well.
- 1:15:20Speaker 4: Then they should have gotten them because it didn't cost
- 1:15:22Speaker 4: that much.
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: We all the reports said that they were in on it,
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: so that the.
- 1:15:25Speaker 4: Report said they were interested. But did they go after him?
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: Well, I don't know. I mean, so, what what do
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: you mean by interesting? I don't think.
- 1:15:32Speaker 4: That's like to me, that's not a difference making player.
- 1:15:34Speaker 4: I would have taken Cooper Cup, but I think DK
- 1:15:36Speaker 4: Metcalf could be your number one receiver. Cooper Cup couldn't,
- 1:15:39Speaker 4: but he would be right to be their number one,
- 1:15:42Speaker 4: but not a number one. So my point is, I
- 1:15:45Speaker 4: don't think they had a lot of offensive options, right.
- 1:15:49Speaker 4: I unfortunately don't think there are a lot of great
- 1:15:51Speaker 4: offensive options in the draft either. I think Evan's right
- 1:15:54Speaker 4: there that they will take some. They'll probably get some. Uh,
- 1:15:57Speaker 4: they'll they'll get another receiver and probably a running back
- 1:16:00Speaker 4: even you know, at some point in the draft, and
- 1:16:04Speaker 4: they'll they'll you know, you know, if Genti's available, they'll
- 1:16:09Speaker 4: add some pieces on offense. But just because they didn't
- 1:16:12Speaker 4: add it immediately doesn't mean they're neglecting it, right you know.
- 1:16:16Speaker 4: So that's why, like I'm in the middle, like they
- 1:16:18Speaker 4: have not necessarily gotten the guys, you know, and I'm
- 1:16:23Speaker 4: a little tired of the Well they went after Calvin Ridley,
- 1:16:25Speaker 4: they went after Brandon Ayuk, they went after Chris Godwin, whatever.
- 1:16:29Speaker 4: Like that's I've heard that about the Red Sox for
- 1:16:31Speaker 4: five years, you know, like they need to make some changes,
- 1:16:35Speaker 4: they need to add some talent. But I'm not, you know,
- 1:16:38Speaker 4: willing to just say, well, this is Mike Rabel and
- 1:16:40Speaker 4: he's a defensive guy and he doesn't want offense. I
- 1:16:43Speaker 4: think that was true with Bill. I think Christian's argument
- 1:16:46Speaker 4: against Bill in that regard was accurate. I think Bill said,
- 1:16:50Speaker 4: I want to have defensive players, and Tom Brady will
- 1:16:53Speaker 4: fix the offense, and he'll do enough on the offense.
- 1:16:55Speaker 4: You don't have that luxury anymore. But I'm not here
- 1:16:58Speaker 4: to tell you that that's what Rabel's doing. I want
- 1:17:00Speaker 4: to give it a little time before I start criticizing
- 1:17:03Speaker 4: him for not getting offensive players, because I don't think
- 1:17:05Speaker 4: they've missed out on a lot of guys.
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: People They're getting impatient at the end of the day,
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: no matter what they do, Like you said earlier, the
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: odds of it, the Patriots being able to do what
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: the Commanders did last year are long. You know, you're
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: not going to build this team to a playoff caliber
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: team this year most likely mostly.
- 1:17:24Speaker 4: Now they could be They could if everything.
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: Works, everything has everything works.
- 1:17:29Speaker 4: They could be a playoff contender, right, And I honestly
- 1:17:33Speaker 4: believe that. I'm not trying to.
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: Play a lot of ifs have to become real.
- 1:17:36Speaker 4: If Milton Williams is the same player at seventy five
- 1:17:39Speaker 4: eighty percent playtime as he was at forty five percent,
- 1:17:43Speaker 4: you know, if Harold Landry goes on the wayback machine,
- 1:17:45Speaker 4: if Robert Splaine turns out to be this sideline to
- 1:17:48Speaker 4: sideline whirling dervish that he looked like he was in Vegas,
- 1:17:51Speaker 4: and Carlton Davis stays healthy, Yeah, then I think you
- 1:17:56Speaker 4: have a chance to beat you know, sort of the Cleveland's,
- 1:18:00Speaker 4: the you know, like the lesser teams in the AFC
- 1:18:03Speaker 4: that you lost to last year. I think become wins
- 1:18:06Speaker 4: and that goes from four to eight or nine. Yeah,
- 1:18:09Speaker 4: in my in my view, because I think the schedule's light.
- 1:18:11Speaker 3: And then when December rolls around, you're in it.
- 1:18:13Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that could happen.
- 1:18:15Speaker 3: The path.
- 1:18:15Speaker 6: I just feel like everybody. The first week of free
- 1:18:18Speaker 6: agency ended, and now the roster building's over, Like there's
- 1:18:21Speaker 6: no there's no way to.
- 1:18:23Speaker 4: I'm in the middle of that. I think largely it is.
- 1:18:25Speaker 4: But there will be a guy that you don't know,
- 1:18:27Speaker 4: to Evan's point, that'll be on the team and he'll
- 1:18:29Speaker 4: probably play a role.
- 1:18:30Speaker 6: But can we just at least wait until April twenty
- 1:18:33Speaker 6: seventh before we jump off the bridge that they have
- 1:18:35Speaker 6: no offense? Like if Travis Hunter is on this team
- 1:18:38Speaker 6: on April twenty fourth, then we're all gonna look like idiots,
- 1:18:40Speaker 6: Like just relax, Like, let's lee what happens at the draft.
- 1:18:45Speaker 6: If they get to the draft and he and he
- 1:18:47Speaker 6: goes like build it a couple of years ago with
- 1:18:49Speaker 6: Gonzo and Kean White and Marte Mapu and they go defense, defense,
- 1:18:52Speaker 6: defense again at the top of the draft. Then have
- 1:18:54Speaker 6: at it. Then sit there and say they did they
- 1:18:56Speaker 6: neglected the offense?
- 1:18:57Speaker 4: Do you think there's a chance that that could happen?
- 1:18:59Speaker 4: Because no, I do, No I do, And I wouldn't
- 1:19:02Speaker 4: necessarily criticize it if they think that, like the Georgia guy,
- 1:19:06Speaker 4: let's say that Hunter and maybe at the time, for
- 1:19:08Speaker 4: the purpose of this let's take Carter and Hunter off
- 1:19:10Speaker 4: the board.
- 1:19:11Speaker 5: Yeah, Walker or Williams.
- 1:19:12Speaker 4: Right, So if one of your Georgia guys is the pick,
- 1:19:15Speaker 4: and then you know, all of a sudden, you get
- 1:19:17Speaker 4: in the second round. And I'm not as up to
- 1:19:19Speaker 4: date on all the slots for all the prospects, but
- 1:19:23Speaker 4: all of the guys that you like at receiver are
- 1:19:26Speaker 4: off the board at that you don't want to you
- 1:19:28Speaker 4: don't want to reach, and all of a sudden there's
- 1:19:31Speaker 4: a you know, maybe another edge player or something else.
- 1:19:36Speaker 4: I don't think that that would be a terrible way
- 1:19:38Speaker 4: to go. Where you get in trouble is reaching reaching
- 1:19:41Speaker 4: for need. Yeah, you know, I don't want to do that.
- 1:19:44Speaker 8: If you flash back two weeks ago, a lot of
- 1:19:46Speaker 8: what we said was this is a really good free
- 1:19:48Speaker 8: agency class for the defensive front seven, cornerback, you know
- 1:19:51Speaker 8: those specific positions.
- 1:19:52Speaker 5: Those are both positions that.
- 1:19:53Speaker 8: They went and added, you know, some quality players at
- 1:19:57Speaker 8: and we knew it was going to be competitive at
- 1:19:59Speaker 8: tackling receiver, that there were only a couple guys really available.
- 1:20:02Speaker 8: And you know, once Ronnie Stanley was off the board,
- 1:20:04Speaker 8: and everyone was just acting like Ronnie Stanley, like that's
- 1:20:06Speaker 8: you know that's the plan.
- 1:20:08Speaker 4: It's not a great free agent crop, especially in my
- 1:20:11Speaker 4: view on offense. And I'm not stunts that they didn't
- 1:20:14Speaker 4: get difference making players on offense.
- 1:20:16Speaker 8: I'm just realizing for a lot of fans, I think,
- 1:20:18Speaker 8: you know, kind of what Christian was saying, that it
- 1:20:20Speaker 8: all carries over, like all the problems everything, like you
- 1:20:22Speaker 8: don't put it down and leave that with Alex van
- 1:20:24Speaker 8: Pelt and Jirabo. It's all carries over when you have
- 1:20:27Speaker 8: back to back four win seasons, no matter who was
- 1:20:29Speaker 8: in charge and what I feel frustrating.
- 1:20:33Speaker 4: Would I feel better if they signed Cam Robinson, Yeah,
- 1:20:35Speaker 4: I probably would, But the reality of that is you're
- 1:20:38Speaker 4: probably not all that much better. Like I would feel
- 1:20:42Speaker 4: better because he's an NFL tackle and they don't have one,
- 1:20:46Speaker 4: you know, uh, you know, a left on the left side.
- 1:20:49Speaker 4: You know, they have Morgan Moses my New Life. But
- 1:20:53Speaker 4: I would feel better with Cam Robinson. But I'm not
- 1:20:55Speaker 4: gonna I'm not here to tell you that, well, your
- 1:20:58Speaker 4: left tackle problems are solved, because I watched those last
- 1:21:01Speaker 4: couple of games last year and it would scare the
- 1:21:03Speaker 4: crap out of me.
- 1:21:03Speaker 6: I mean, your left tackle options in free agency besides
- 1:21:06Speaker 6: Cam Robinson, We're paying Dan Moore Junior forty million dollars
- 1:21:09Speaker 6: over the first two years of his contract, and like
- 1:21:12Speaker 6: that's being graded out as the worst contract handed out
- 1:21:15Speaker 6: in free agency by pretty much everybody.
- 1:21:17Speaker 4: Yeah, everybody's in agreement.
- 1:21:18Speaker 6: Yeah, and so it just I'm not saying, don't criticize,
- 1:21:22Speaker 6: Just can we give them a second to before we criticize,
- 1:21:25Speaker 6: Like it's not all over, Like the draft happens. Draft
- 1:21:29Speaker 6: Day trades happened, Draft Day, weekend trades happen. Like stuff happens,
- 1:21:33Speaker 6: and you know, throughout the process.
- 1:21:35Speaker 3: So I'd love to know from the Christians of the world,
- 1:21:40Speaker 3: if the Patriots draft Will Campbell with the fourth pick,
- 1:21:43Speaker 3: will that Will they be happy with that?
- 1:21:45Speaker 6: No, because they'll move the goalpost again and they'll say
- 1:21:48Speaker 6: he's a guard.
- 1:21:49Speaker 4: But if he is a guard, I would and I
- 1:21:51Speaker 4: felt like Christian doesn't. I don't. I think, like I said,
- 1:21:53Speaker 4: I'm in the middle of Christian and you. But if
- 1:21:57Speaker 4: he's a guard, then I wouldn't feel great about that. Okay,
- 1:22:00Speaker 4: if he's a tackle.
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: Well, I mean on the day of the draft, their
- 1:22:05Speaker 3: intention is to play him at tackle. Are the Christians
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: of the.
- 1:22:08Speaker 4: World Okay with that, I would think so, yeah, I
- 1:22:11Speaker 4: would hope. So they need a left tackle, Yeah, I
- 1:22:13Speaker 4: would hope.
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: So.
- 1:22:14Speaker 6: I just feel like we're holding we're holding things from
- 1:22:16Speaker 6: past regimes against Mike Rabel. Like it's not Mike Rabel's fault.
- 1:22:20Speaker 4: That's why.
- 1:22:22Speaker 3: It totally out because Elliott Wolfe was part of past regimes.
- 1:22:26Speaker 6: Yeah, but he doesn't Like I personally do not think
- 1:22:29Speaker 6: that he's running the show.
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I think he's a big part of it.
- 1:22:32Speaker 6: Come on, absolutely, I didn't say it wasn't a big
- 1:22:34Speaker 6: part of it.
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: I just don't think it's all his work right now.
- 1:22:37Speaker 6: I don't think that it's his final say.
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: Right And I mean his scouts in his department did
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: all the work up to this point, up to the
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: point that you well, he did his own work for
- 1:22:49Speaker 3: another team, you know, but it's not always the same,
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: Like your focus is a little bit different. Maybe I
- 1:22:55Speaker 3: don't know, you know.
- 1:22:57Speaker 8: But am I wrong to think that there might not
- 1:22:59Speaker 8: be a wow, that's the guy confirmed answer at left
- 1:23:03Speaker 8: tackle and number one.
- 1:23:04Speaker 5: Wide receiver this season?
- 1:23:05Speaker 8: Like I that's that's I don't know that there's going
- 1:23:07Speaker 8: to I understand. I know that's hard pill to swallow, but.
- 1:23:11Speaker 4: And then listen. I'm not teasing. I'm not making fun
- 1:23:13Speaker 4: of my guys my shows, okay, because I understand they
- 1:23:16Speaker 4: they're doing. They have a they have a job, and
- 1:23:18Speaker 4: they can look at it at black and white. They
- 1:23:20Speaker 4: took almost entirely defensive players in free agency, so that
- 1:23:25Speaker 4: in their view, means they're neglecting the offense. And I
- 1:23:28Speaker 4: can't tell you that that's wrong. When they signed Mogan
- 1:23:31Speaker 4: Moses and mac Collins, right, those are the only two
- 1:23:34Speaker 4: offensive guys. Did I miss one? The yes, Schiser, we
- 1:23:39Speaker 4: should probably go over those the official announcements of more signings.
- 1:23:45Speaker 4: So on paper, that's fact, right. You know, Felger likes
- 1:23:48Speaker 4: to say scoreboard right, facts, it's it's it's but it's
- 1:23:52Speaker 4: but it's nuanced. It's not just black and white. They're neglected.
- 1:23:56Speaker 4: They only signed defense. That means they're neglecting offense. That
- 1:24:00Speaker 4: means that that was the opportunity.
- 1:24:01Speaker 3: That presented with the low hanging fruit.
- 1:24:03Speaker 6: But he also has no time for the draft, So
- 1:24:05Speaker 6: like I, it's hard for me to like listen to
- 1:24:08Speaker 6: him say those things and then know, on the other
- 1:24:11Speaker 6: bread that every single time you bring up a prospect
- 1:24:13Speaker 6: in the draft, he puts his nose up to it
- 1:24:15Speaker 6: and says, well, he could stink. Well, yeah, like obviously
- 1:24:17Speaker 6: he could stink.
- 1:24:18Speaker 3: And free agents may not work out, right.
- 1:24:20Speaker 6: Or he you know, you could take DK Metcalf in
- 1:24:23Speaker 6: the second round and he could turn out to be
- 1:24:24Speaker 6: DK Metcalf, right, you know. So, like if we come
- 1:24:27Speaker 6: out of the draft and they've done nothing to add
- 1:24:30Speaker 6: talent to the offensive side of the ball, then they'll
- 1:24:32Speaker 6: all be right that they neglected the offense.
- 1:24:35Speaker 4: But until we get I think there's a chance that
- 1:24:36Speaker 4: that could happen, But not because they you know what
- 1:24:38Speaker 4: I'm saying, Like, I don't know if this is a
- 1:24:41Speaker 4: great yes, like it might work out that Like, like
- 1:24:45Speaker 4: Mike said, is there like a slam dunk wide receiver
- 1:24:49Speaker 4: or left tackle to choose from? So if you come
- 1:24:52Speaker 4: out of this without guys at those positions, does that
- 1:24:54Speaker 4: mean you neglected the offense?
- 1:24:56Speaker 6: I think I don't know if I would use the
- 1:24:58Speaker 6: word neglected. But you should be able to find you
- 1:25:01Speaker 6: want to call him dart throws, call him you should
- 1:25:04Speaker 6: be able to make top one hundred picks a wide
- 1:25:06Speaker 6: receiver intact, but.
- 1:25:07Speaker 4: And you will. But that doesn't mean that you've saw.
- 1:25:10Speaker 4: You know what I'm saying. It doesn't mean that's all,
- 1:25:12Speaker 4: that's that's all my.
- 1:25:13Speaker 6: Point, but you should have an infusion of talent at
- 1:25:16Speaker 6: those two so real quick.
- 1:25:18Speaker 4: We did have the Patriots officially announced a few more
- 1:25:21Speaker 4: though I don't know if we talked about Chase on
- 1:25:24Speaker 4: last week. Edge rusher from the first round pick, a
- 1:25:27Speaker 4: guy who I happened to love coming out of l.
- 1:25:29Speaker 6: S U, who has.
- 1:25:31Speaker 4: Been okay, hasn't really best year last year. They hasn't
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: been great safety from the Raiders, Mike Marcus Epps, that's correct.
- 1:25:41Speaker 4: And the offensive lineman.
- 1:25:43Speaker 8: Was with then Wes Schitzer Shitzer Schitzer s h y
- 1:25:49Speaker 8: pronouncer Schitzer s h y t z e R Schitzer Schitzer,
- 1:25:55Speaker 8: Wes Schitzer.
- 1:25:56Speaker 5: Who's started a bunch of games.
- 1:25:58Speaker 4: Kind of like Max a name that I cannot say.
- 1:26:01Speaker 8: Yeah, he's been in and out of interior, swinging back up,
- 1:26:04Speaker 8: getting thrust into starting roles. You know, he's kind of
- 1:26:07Speaker 8: like a little bit like Nick Levertt was last year.
- 1:26:09Speaker 8: Maybe a little more experience than Nick Levett last year.
- 1:26:11Speaker 8: But I mean, I said Evan, like I look at
- 1:26:15Speaker 8: this front now and to me, it's Landry Tonga Williams
- 1:26:21Speaker 8: Chase on. That's your starting front four for this defense
- 1:26:23Speaker 8: to me right now?
- 1:26:24Speaker 6: Yeah, unless us bar more healthy.
- 1:26:27Speaker 4: So that's eleven guys that they've signed. I think all
- 1:26:30Speaker 4: of those have now been made official by the Patriots.
- 1:26:33Speaker 4: I don't think I missed any of them.
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: No, I don't think so.
- 1:26:36Speaker 4: Just a couple of things to update in terms of bookkeeping.
- 1:26:40Speaker 4: Daniel Aqualley yep signed with Pittsburgh, so they lost him
- 1:26:45Speaker 4: as a free agent. Interesting tweet. I read yesterday that
- 1:26:50Speaker 4: Christian Ellis, who is a restricted free agent, and received
- 1:26:52Speaker 4: a tender from the Patriots, the non yeah, non compensation.
- 1:27:00Speaker 4: So Christian Ellis, I evidently, is visiting with the Raiders. Yeah.
- 1:27:05Speaker 4: So my guess is if you're visiting, you're probably preparing
- 1:27:08Speaker 4: to give him an offer sheet of some sort, and
- 1:27:11Speaker 4: the Patriots will have a decision to make whether or
- 1:27:13Speaker 4: not to try to retain him if they.
- 1:27:15Speaker 5: Do for him.
- 1:27:17Speaker 4: Okay, so that's the up to date Ells transactions on
- 1:27:20Speaker 4: my handy little cheat sheet.
- 1:27:22Speaker 3: All right, back to your calls. We'll go to Kendall
- 1:27:25Speaker 3: in North Carolina.
- 1:27:26Speaker 14: Hey Kendall, Hey, Hey, how you guys doing it?
- 1:27:29Speaker 9: All right?
- 1:27:31Speaker 16: Yeah?
- 1:27:31Speaker 14: I would just if my chrisms for Fred, but like
- 1:27:34Speaker 14: all of y'all can answer, y'all all was on set too, Fred,
- 1:27:39Speaker 14: Where did you see the report that Rogers was going
- 1:27:41Speaker 14: to make a decision? Third that I've been looking at it.
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: I was listening to one of Paul's shows today and
- 1:27:45Speaker 3: they said on the Pat McAfee show.
- 1:27:48Speaker 4: That is not one of my shows.
- 1:27:50Speaker 3: No no, no, no, no. On your show they said on the.
- 1:27:53Speaker 4: Even though he made even though he made fun of
- 1:27:55Speaker 4: me on that no no, not I'm not saying.
- 1:27:57Speaker 3: But they mentioned the Pat McAfee show, your show today
- 1:28:01Speaker 3: saying that Rogers was going to be on Thursday to
- 1:28:04Speaker 3: give his decision.
- 1:28:06Speaker 14: Oh okay, Because I had been trying to google, I
- 1:28:08Speaker 14: couldn't find about anything like that. I thought they had
- 1:28:12Speaker 14: said that last week too.
- 1:28:13Speaker 4: But the McAfee show would know about Aaron Rodgers went
- 1:28:16Speaker 4: to bed with him more than that show.
- 1:28:19Speaker 3: So I don't know where they got the report, but
- 1:28:21Speaker 3: that's what.
- 1:28:21Speaker 12: I heard, Okay.
- 1:28:24Speaker 14: Because I've been looking at everywhere, I couldn't find anything.
- 1:28:26Speaker 14: But yes, we'll wait till Thursday to find out. And
- 1:28:29Speaker 14: y'all think if Russell Wilson goes to the jobs, how
- 1:28:32Speaker 14: y'all feel about that. Do you think they still take
- 1:28:34Speaker 14: to doing three or any or what they had doing
- 1:28:36Speaker 14: three and now take it off?
- 1:28:37Speaker 3: Thinks Okay, thanks Kendall.
- 1:28:39Speaker 4: I don't think if Russell Wilson signs with with Cleveland
- 1:28:43Speaker 4: or the Giants, I don't think that either one of
- 1:28:45Speaker 4: those teams would then take Sanders.
- 1:28:47Speaker 6: The only way you know that it would happen to
- 1:28:51Speaker 6: me is like with Pennix, with Kirk Cousins last year,
- 1:28:53Speaker 6: Like you would have to think that he was truly
- 1:28:56Speaker 6: that dude, Like he's a franchise quarterback and you just
- 1:29:00Speaker 6: because you can't pass on them. And that's what happened
- 1:29:03Speaker 6: with Atlanta.
- 1:29:03Speaker 4: Yeah, and I thought that was a really surprising pick
- 1:29:06Speaker 4: even with all of that. Now and you know, they
- 1:29:08Speaker 4: might have ended up being right, being right, although I'm
- 1:29:12Speaker 4: not sold on Penix, but they doubling down, you know,
- 1:29:16Speaker 4: having something behind for insurance turn turned out to be
- 1:29:20Speaker 4: a good move. I could see a team a little
- 1:29:23Speaker 4: bit later on. You know, maybe the Raiders are Lycia's Falcons.
- 1:29:27Speaker 4: You know the Raiders traded for Gino Smith. Yeah, they're
- 1:29:31Speaker 4: going to give him the deal. He's going to be
- 1:29:32Speaker 4: their their starter for the for the now. But I
- 1:29:36Speaker 4: could see if they really liked Sanders new was available,
- 1:29:38Speaker 4: they could still take him. I don't think they would,
- 1:29:41Speaker 4: but I that would be kind of similar to the Falcons.
- 1:29:43Speaker 6: It is a often, you know, copycat league, and the
- 1:29:47Speaker 6: Falcons it really worked that they did, Like if they
- 1:29:50Speaker 6: hadn't done that, then you know, they would have been
- 1:29:52Speaker 6: really screwed at quarterback with the way Kirk Cousins looked
- 1:29:55Speaker 6: last year. So I wouldn't be surprising if one of
- 1:29:57Speaker 6: those teams said, well, the Falcons did then it worked
- 1:30:00Speaker 6: out for them. So we're gonna do the same thing.
- 1:30:02Speaker 3: And it is a copycat league. Let's go to Andrew
- 1:30:06Speaker 3: and Casey. What's up? Andrew are a game?
- 1:30:15Speaker 13: I am really intrigued by the idea of using trading
- 1:30:19Speaker 13: Joe Milton and something else to get a passage for
- 1:30:22Speaker 13: someone that's worth more than Joe Milton by himself. So
- 1:30:26Speaker 13: I wanted to run a couple of scenarios. Body, see
- 1:30:28Speaker 13: if you think you start realistic or I'm just living
- 1:30:30Speaker 13: in a fantasy land. So the first would be to
- 1:30:36Speaker 13: trade Joe Milton and a fourth round pick and pick
- 1:30:39Speaker 13: up Proderi Jones from the Trailers, get a little bit
- 1:30:42Speaker 13: of a recollection of projects who's still probably better than
- 1:30:44Speaker 13: anything I would And then the second would be to
- 1:30:47Speaker 13: trade Joe Milton and a third to try to move
- 1:30:50Speaker 13: up to three with a giant and make sure we
- 1:30:52Speaker 13: get Abiel Carterner travel. What do you think either of those?
- 1:30:55Speaker 3: Joe Milton are a third to trade up.
- 1:31:00Speaker 4: A third round pick. Basically, you're trading a third round
- 1:31:03Speaker 4: pick to move up a spot in the first round.
- 1:31:06Speaker 4: I don't know is that enough? It might be in
- 1:31:10Speaker 4: this draft. I don't know.
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:31:13Speaker 8: It seems I don't think there might be other teams
- 1:31:15Speaker 8: if that team's willing to move, there might be other teams.
- 1:31:19Speaker 9: I will.
- 1:31:20Speaker 4: I am that this will be the next thing that
- 1:31:22Speaker 4: I'm proving grossly wrong about Joe Milton's trade value. I
- 1:31:26Speaker 4: don't see it. I don't. I just don't see it.
- 1:31:28Speaker 6: I mean, I think his trade value could be you
- 1:31:31Speaker 6: draft him in the sixth could you get a fourth
- 1:31:33Speaker 6: round pick for him?
- 1:31:35Speaker 4: Like my guess is that be a future fourth round pick?
- 1:31:37Speaker 4: Which is really a.
- 1:31:38Speaker 6: Fright If I the Patriots best case scenario with Joe
- 1:31:42Speaker 6: Milton in terms of value is for him to go
- 1:31:44Speaker 6: ball out in the preseason again, and I should say
- 1:31:47Speaker 6: again the preseason this year and then trade him at
- 1:31:51Speaker 6: the end of the summer for a team that gets
- 1:31:53Speaker 6: desperate and you know, has an injury or something like
- 1:31:56Speaker 6: that at quarterback.
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:31:58Speaker 6: But even then, I think you're looking at you know,
- 1:32:00Speaker 6: what did the Patriots get from Brissett Philip Dorsett? Right
- 1:32:03Speaker 6: like you're looking at a trade like that, like it's
- 1:32:06Speaker 6: a third fourth receiver that this team doesn't really want.
- 1:32:09Speaker 4: Two players that were both gonna get cut. Yeah, I
- 1:32:11Speaker 4: mean got traded for each other. And I know that
- 1:32:13Speaker 4: with certainty the Patriots were going to cut per set.
- 1:32:17Speaker 8: Like real question, who's the number two quarterback on this
- 1:32:20Speaker 8: Patriots team with Dobbs in the mix? Now, I mean,
- 1:32:22Speaker 8: who's actually the backup play?
- 1:32:23Speaker 4: I guess is Dobbs. And I think of it, you know,
- 1:32:27Speaker 4: And here's where like I'm not willing to say that
- 1:32:29Speaker 4: like the Christian, like the call that we got from
- 1:32:31Speaker 4: Christian ten minutes ago was completely wrong with regard to Rabel,
- 1:32:35Speaker 4: I look at a guy like Dobbs for Vrabel and
- 1:32:37Speaker 4: he's like, that's my kind of backup quote that that's
- 1:32:41Speaker 4: a safer backup quarterback. I know him a little bit
- 1:32:44Speaker 4: of familiarity with him. He came in. Do you remember, like,
- 1:32:49Speaker 4: was it Rabel's last year or second to last year.
- 1:32:53Speaker 4: They had a winner take all last game of the
- 1:32:55Speaker 4: year in Jacksonville and they had no Tannehill and Malik
- 1:33:01Speaker 4: Willis was had played a little bit, not very well.
- 1:33:05Speaker 4: He just brought in Dobbs kind of off the street
- 1:33:07Speaker 4: and started him in that last game, and Dobbs played
- 1:33:10Speaker 4: reasonably well, gave him a shot to win that game.
- 1:33:14Speaker 4: I think he I think he liked Dobbs and I
- 1:33:17Speaker 4: think he thinks of that as a safer alternative.
- 1:33:19Speaker 8: I mean, it's not plus, it's different than Jacoby, Like
- 1:33:24Speaker 8: he's kind of kicked around a little bit. He's never
- 1:33:26Speaker 8: really been the guy or had any like Jacoby. Still
- 1:33:29Speaker 8: seemed to me like he wanted to be the starter here.
- 1:33:30Speaker 8: He wanted to stay in the starting lineup.
- 1:33:32Speaker 5: I don't think, yeah, that's it going to that exists.
- 1:33:33Speaker 8: See how many games with Dobbs he started.
- 1:33:36Speaker 5: But yeah, I agree Mike to Evan's point.
- 1:33:40Speaker 8: I'm just interested to see Joe Milton play in the preseason,
- 1:33:43Speaker 8: to see him playing training camp, get out there. I mean,
- 1:33:45Speaker 8: I don't know how much we talked about it, but
- 1:33:47Speaker 8: everybody reacts to what he did in that last game
- 1:33:49Speaker 8: of the season. But to me, like, he looked pretty
- 1:33:52Speaker 8: good in seven on seven, and as soon as became
- 1:33:53Speaker 8: eleven on eleven and there was a pass rush and
- 1:33:55Speaker 8: there was actually some kind of coverage to read through
- 1:33:57Speaker 8: in training camp, he looked pretty lost. So I mean,
- 1:34:00Speaker 8: credit to him, he looked like he made remarkable strides.
- 1:34:03Speaker 8: But how sustainable and real is that based on just
- 1:34:06Speaker 8: one game at the end of the season where Buffalo
- 1:34:08Speaker 8: is kind of mailing it in. I don't know, but
- 1:34:10Speaker 8: everyone you know wants to react on it. But I'm
- 1:34:12Speaker 8: just curious to see him.
- 1:34:13Speaker 4: A fifteen start.
- 1:34:14Speaker 6: He started off so not not not as many as
- 1:34:18Speaker 6: I just look at that last game against Buffalo, and
- 1:34:20Speaker 6: that's why it melds all the like it's a preseason game, yeah, right,
- 1:34:22Speaker 6: Like he played well in the preseason game at the
- 1:34:24Speaker 6: end of the season. Uh, for all intensive purposes, if
- 1:34:27Speaker 6: he does that again two or three more times in August,
- 1:34:30Speaker 6: then maybe he would have some value.
- 1:34:32Speaker 4: And I do think it's like I can I could
- 1:34:35Speaker 4: be talked into it either way, because if you think
- 1:34:38Speaker 4: he's really good, and that was the tip of the
- 1:34:41Speaker 4: iceberg of his development, then you hold on to him.
- 1:34:44Speaker 4: But if you still kind of think, oh jeez, right,
- 1:34:46Speaker 4: we didn't see that coming.
- 1:34:47Speaker 9: Where did that go?
- 1:34:48Speaker 4: Then his trade value is not going to be much higher.
- 1:34:51Speaker 4: So that's what you're weighing right now.
- 1:34:54Speaker 9: Yeah, he might maybe selling exactly like.
- 1:34:58Speaker 6: Point like every Joe mill the thing that you heard
- 1:35:01Speaker 6: about coming into the draft where he duped two really
- 1:35:05Speaker 6: big college football programs into thinking that he was going
- 1:35:08Speaker 6: to be the next big thing in Michigan and Tennessee,
- 1:35:11Speaker 6: and then they get him there and you start to
- 1:35:12Speaker 6: peel back the curtain a little bit and you're like,
- 1:35:15Speaker 6: all right, this isn't what we thought it was. Like
- 1:35:17Speaker 6: that last game of the regular season is classic Joe Milton,
- 1:35:20Speaker 6: classic awesome guy.
- 1:35:21Speaker 8: Like left hearing from him like I mean, I mean, flip,
- 1:35:25Speaker 8: I mean, he looks like Cam Newton out there. I mean,
- 1:35:27Speaker 8: it's not that far off from just what Adonnis that
- 1:35:29Speaker 8: guy is and the way he throws the football. It's just,
- 1:35:32Speaker 8: I mean, it's intriguing. He can understand why all these
- 1:35:34Speaker 8: teams are taking chances on him. He's got all the tools,
- 1:35:36Speaker 8: and the tool makes.
- 1:35:37Speaker 4: A sucker for a physique, I am, you know, but
- 1:35:41Speaker 4: like even like Big Ben, you know, he has that
- 1:35:43Speaker 4: like that huge stature, you know, mobility, the big arm. Yeah,
- 1:35:48Speaker 4: I mean, I think there are a lot of traits
- 1:35:50Speaker 4: to Like I'm with Evan, I'm gonna need to see
- 1:35:52Speaker 4: more before I forget about the college but experience. But
- 1:35:58Speaker 4: I agree with with the way and said that about
- 1:36:00Speaker 4: the preseason, like and a lot of people have been like, well,
- 1:36:03Speaker 4: that's more valuable than the preseason. I don't think it is.
- 1:36:06Speaker 4: I think, matter of fact, you can make an argument
- 1:36:08Speaker 4: in the preseason there are guys desperately trying to forge
- 1:36:12Speaker 4: their way into the NFL. In that game, there were
- 1:36:14Speaker 4: guys desperately trying not to get hurt and get off
- 1:36:16Speaker 4: the field. Like I don't think there was as much.
- 1:36:19Speaker 3: Like making business decisions.
- 1:36:21Speaker 4: There wasn't as much urgency in the second half of
- 1:36:23Speaker 4: that game as there wasn't a typical preseason game.
- 1:36:25Speaker 6: He has one of the best arms I've ever seen.
- 1:36:29Speaker 4: It's amazing to watch him through the throw and how effortless, unbelievable.
- 1:36:33Speaker 3: That was a rocket that didn't go more than four
- 1:36:36Speaker 3: feet off the ground a straight line for.
- 1:36:37Speaker 4: Fifty six so effortless when it leaves his hand, I mean,
- 1:36:40Speaker 4: he's impressive to watch.
- 1:36:42Speaker 3: Uh Norman Daytona Beach writes, and I think the problem
- 1:36:45Speaker 3: with the negativity of the fan base is they listen
- 1:36:48Speaker 3: and believe the crap that some of the sports talk
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: shows in Boston spew out. Doesn't matter what the Patriots
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: and other sports teams do, it's never going to be
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: good enough. They just love to criticize everybody and everything.
- 1:37:00Speaker 3: See Paul, my God, give Rabel time and a chance
- 1:37:04Speaker 3: to rebuild this roster. As I'm writing this email, Evan
- 1:37:07Speaker 3: is saying basically what I'm typing. They took players in
- 1:37:09Speaker 3: free agency on defense because there wasn't much on offense
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: to pick from.
- 1:37:13Speaker 6: Paul actually said that that's okay, But I'm not even
- 1:37:16Speaker 6: using that excuse for him. I just because I would
- 1:37:18Speaker 6: have traded for DK Metcalf, Like I think that was
- 1:37:20Speaker 6: right there for them for the taking. I'm just saying, like,
- 1:37:23Speaker 6: can we at least get to after the draft, Like
- 1:37:25Speaker 6: if they come out of the draft and we still
- 1:37:28Speaker 6: feel like we do now about the offense, then I
- 1:37:30Speaker 6: will criticize them too for the way that they handle
- 1:37:33Speaker 6: that side of the ball. But let's just show some
- 1:37:35Speaker 6: patience because they could have Travis Hunter on this team
- 1:37:39Speaker 6: in six weeks, or they could swing to trade on
- 1:37:42Speaker 6: draft day. You know that that lands them a big receiver. Like,
- 1:37:45Speaker 6: let's just wait and see.
- 1:37:46Speaker 8: What the trades intrigued me. But I still just think
- 1:37:48Speaker 8: even if it's with the draft, that there's probably gonna
- 1:37:51Speaker 8: have to be some patients. And like you know, there's
- 1:37:53Speaker 8: not a surefire left tackle in this draft, so unless
- 1:37:56Speaker 8: they pull a trade off that we don't really see
- 1:37:57Speaker 8: coming at this point, there's gonna be a leap of
- 1:38:00Speaker 8: faith with an offensive lineman in this draft. If you're
- 1:38:02Speaker 8: expecting that somebody's gonna come in here and solidify that position,
- 1:38:05Speaker 8: it's it's.
- 1:38:06Speaker 5: Just I mean, I do all these mock drafts. It
- 1:38:08Speaker 5: seems it's tough.
- 1:38:09Speaker 8: It's tough to thread that needle.
- 1:38:11Speaker 3: Kelly and salt Lake. I'm sure Mike has caught hell
- 1:38:14Speaker 3: for Jante at four, but I honestly don't hate it.
- 1:38:17Speaker 3: I think the biggest way to ease the pain on
- 1:38:19Speaker 3: Drake without getting a wide receiver one as the ball
- 1:38:22Speaker 3: noa's say, is to make defenses play the run. If
- 1:38:25Speaker 3: they can have a back who can catch the ball
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: the batfield as well as run through contact, they can
- 1:38:29Speaker 3: build the base of the offense and maybe, just maybe
- 1:38:32Speaker 3: be good enough to entice a wide receiver next year.
- 1:38:36Speaker 5: Thanks Kelly.
- 1:38:37Speaker 4: Yeah, so just the recap. Mike should be fired. Mike's
- 1:38:42Speaker 4: a moron. Don't ever do this again. Mike's a little smart,
- 1:38:46Speaker 4: but the one, the one on his side. I don't
- 1:38:49Speaker 4: hate it.
- 1:38:50Speaker 9: I like it.
- 1:38:51Speaker 4: No, I don't hate it.
- 1:38:53Speaker 5: There were a couple of those. Wait didn't you say?
- 1:38:55Speaker 8: I mean, well, Bart, I don't know what Bart's reactually,
- 1:38:58Speaker 8: but Katholics seemed like I think that it was just
- 1:39:00Speaker 8: like chaos.
- 1:39:03Speaker 6: They were there vouching for you because of the chaos.
- 1:39:06Speaker 5: And what was the radio thing? Were they really talking about?
- 1:39:07Speaker 5: Did you say they were talking about on the radio?
- 1:39:09Speaker 6: You just know there's some scuttle but about.
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: You, Kyle and Pembroke. I don't like going after Deuce
- 1:39:17Speaker 3: like this, so I'm gonna do a compliment sandwich. Okay, Deuce,
- 1:39:20Speaker 3: You're very funny and often get a laugh out of
- 1:39:23Speaker 3: every show. However, the joke you made in your mock
- 1:39:26Speaker 3: draft about the Patriots drafting right a running back at
- 1:39:29Speaker 3: four in the first round wasn't funny, but I know
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: it was just meant as a joke. Well that you're wrong. However,
- 1:39:36Speaker 3: you are a smart man who knows ball, so I
- 1:39:38Speaker 3: can't wait for your serious mock draft one point zero
- 1:39:41Speaker 3: to come out.
- 1:39:43Speaker 8: He's not totally wrong on that second part, but it
- 1:39:45Speaker 8: wasn't a total troll job. Like like Fred said, I.
- 1:39:48Speaker 5: Mean we talked.
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: We had a talk about it for a summary, I
- 1:39:50Speaker 3: mean behind it. While I agree the Patriots should draft
- 1:39:53Speaker 3: a running back, I think it should be a Day
- 1:39:55Speaker 3: three pick, not the fourth. Overall, with how heavily the
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: Patriots went on defensive free agency, I think the draft
- 1:40:00Speaker 3: should lean offensive and McMillan at four makes sense, as
- 1:40:03Speaker 3: well as trading up from thirty eight to get Ursery
- 1:40:06Speaker 3: late in the first round. What do you guys, especially
- 1:40:09Speaker 3: Douce think about this?
- 1:40:10Speaker 8: Oh yeah, I mean you're gonna have to be creative
- 1:40:15Speaker 8: with the left tackle. I mean that was the other thing,
- 1:40:16Speaker 8: Like when I do these moss I just used the
- 1:40:18Speaker 8: PFF one, which is obviously wrong. I mean, Ursery is
- 1:40:21Speaker 8: not gonna be there in the third round. So I
- 1:40:23Speaker 8: just think if you I want to see them target somebody,
- 1:40:25Speaker 8: I think, like speaking more towards feeling better, there will
- 1:40:29Speaker 8: be a leap of faith with some of these guys.
- 1:40:31Speaker 8: But I think if you really felt like they really
- 1:40:33Speaker 8: wanted this guy, they packaged some picks, they moved up,
- 1:40:37Speaker 8: they got back up to get somebody, rather than all right,
- 1:40:40Speaker 8: the Jalen Pole thing or this is the guy that
- 1:40:42Speaker 8: fell to us and he's fine here.
- 1:40:44Speaker 5: Like, I don't think they can do that.
- 1:40:45Speaker 8: I think they need to be be targeted, and I
- 1:40:47Speaker 8: think they need to the fan base needs to know
- 1:40:50Speaker 8: that they have a plan at those two positions, right,
- 1:40:53Speaker 8: like you know, I but it's just hard at wide receiver.
- 1:40:55Speaker 8: I don't know, second early, second round, not much there,
- 1:40:58Speaker 8: not much to choose from.
- 1:40:59Speaker 6: I wonder if a tackle like the bar might just
- 1:41:03Speaker 6: be serviceable, yeah, for a year like Brendan Coleman was
- 1:41:07Speaker 6: last year for Washington.
- 1:41:09Speaker 4: That's why I would feel better if Cam Robinson just
- 1:41:11Speaker 4: signed a one year deal. Yeah, serviceable? Right?
- 1:41:14Speaker 5: What's he doing though?
- 1:41:15Speaker 8: I mean he's out there, he's a name, he's a
- 1:41:17Speaker 8: left tack.
- 1:41:17Speaker 6: I have to think that the market's not good for him, but.
- 1:41:19Speaker 8: As he gonna wait till somebody gets hurt or something, and.
- 1:41:21Speaker 6: Just if they can get even if it's a you know,
- 1:41:24Speaker 6: if it's a Day two tackle, like if it's just
- 1:41:26Speaker 6: a guy that can play the position at a functional level,
- 1:41:29Speaker 6: then I think that's probably good enough for for all
- 1:41:32Speaker 6: of us at that spot. Like, you're not drafting that
- 1:41:34Speaker 6: at four. But if that's who they pick a you know,
- 1:41:37Speaker 6: thirty eight and sixty nine or whatever it is, then
- 1:41:41Speaker 6: then there you go.
- 1:41:42Speaker 5: Oh, we can't trade that pick.
- 1:41:44Speaker 3: Speaking Fresno rights in Sorry, there's no rabbit dog barking
- 1:41:48Speaker 3: in the background of this email. Nonetheless, during nice during
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: Kendall's call with the Pat McAfee show reference, I was
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: sure Fred and Paul were about to get into an
- 1:42:00Speaker 3: argument about what is or isn't one of Paul's shows
- 1:42:03Speaker 3: last It'll be an all time argument that never was anyway,
- 1:42:07Speaker 3: question for everyone not named Evan, do you ever feel
- 1:42:10Speaker 3: like you need to convince yourself to care about a
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: lot of the chatter going on at this time of
- 1:42:14Speaker 3: the year. I always feel inclined to sit in my
- 1:42:16Speaker 3: thumbs and just wait for it all to shake out.
- 1:42:19Speaker 3: But wonder if you guys feel pressure to fluff up
- 1:42:21Speaker 3: the fluff here in mock draft season. I think it's fun,
- 1:42:27Speaker 3: you know.
- 1:42:27Speaker 8: I just think they're fun. I mean, I don't you know,
- 1:42:29Speaker 8: I like getting to know that the prospects. I like,
- 1:42:32Speaker 8: you know, it's always fun to me finding a little jammer.
- 1:42:35Speaker 8: You know, you just like names come up and you
- 1:42:37Speaker 8: look at them. I don't really like systematically early on
- 1:42:39Speaker 8: go through some of the top guys, but you know,
- 1:42:41Speaker 8: then you just kind of listen to what people say,
- 1:42:43Speaker 8: and you know, someone will say a name you didn't
- 1:42:45Speaker 8: really I haven't.
- 1:42:45Speaker 5: Who's that guy?
- 1:42:46Speaker 11: You know?
- 1:42:46Speaker 8: And that's what I find fun about it, just finding
- 1:42:49Speaker 8: these little gems and then you get a few years
- 1:42:51Speaker 8: down the road and all this guy's actually a player,
- 1:42:53Speaker 8: you know, like Jake Bobo, just as a stupid example
- 1:42:55Speaker 8: of you know, the guy, like I know, I'm not
- 1:42:56Speaker 8: trying to take a victory lap on Jake.
- 1:42:58Speaker 5: Believe me, most of it was comedy.
- 1:43:00Speaker 6: He was better than a lot of people thought he
- 1:43:01Speaker 6: was gonna be.
- 1:43:02Speaker 8: But you know, like that's the kind of stuff that
- 1:43:03Speaker 8: happens where people are like this mock draft is stupid.
- 1:43:06Speaker 5: This guy would never be there.
- 1:43:07Speaker 8: And you know that's just one easy example of something
- 1:43:11Speaker 8: when nobody has any idea.
- 1:43:13Speaker 5: I mean, the guy's picking the failure.
- 1:43:15Speaker 16: Yeah.
- 1:43:15Speaker 6: I try to, like once the combine hits, I try
- 1:43:17Speaker 6: not to change my opinions too much, like I, because
- 1:43:20Speaker 6: we don't have all these measurables and stuff like the
- 1:43:22Speaker 6: teams do. So once I know that, like I don't
- 1:43:25Speaker 6: really the fodder and all that stuff, Like I try
- 1:43:28Speaker 6: not to sway too much once that happens. But you know,
- 1:43:31Speaker 6: yesterday I was watching guards and you know, a couple
- 1:43:34Speaker 6: of those guys stood out. Now I learned a little
- 1:43:36Speaker 6: bit about guards yesterday.
- 1:43:37Speaker 3: Bill and San Diego. Paul, what's your issue with Matt Light?
- 1:43:41Speaker 3: He was an eleven year stater who won three Pro
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: balls in a first team All Pro in his career.
- 1:43:46Speaker 3: Are you seriously saying that if someone told you that
- 1:43:49Speaker 3: that will be Will Campbell's trajectory, you'd pass it for
- 1:43:52Speaker 3: what exactly you holding out for? Nate Solda was a
- 1:43:55Speaker 3: first round pick. Would you prefer whoever the Patriots get
- 1:43:58Speaker 3: has his trajectory? Yeah?
- 1:43:59Speaker 4: No, Solder and Light would not be good enough for
- 1:44:02Speaker 4: me at four, I would agree.
- 1:44:05Speaker 6: I think that you have to adjust your thinking of
- 1:44:07Speaker 6: what the talent level is at the fourth overall pick.
- 1:44:10Speaker 4: Yeah. And I also don't think you have Tom Brady,
- 1:44:12Speaker 4: So I don't think that Matt Light would have been
- 1:44:15Speaker 4: to three Pro Bowls and named All Pro without Tom Brady.
- 1:44:20Speaker 4: I watched him play against Jason.
- 1:44:21Speaker 6: I think in this draft, if Will Campbell turns out
- 1:44:24Speaker 6: to be Matt Light or has that trajectory, maybe not
- 1:44:26Speaker 6: the Pro Bowls, but as an NFL starting left tackle
- 1:44:29Speaker 6: for a decade, I'd be happy. You've done very well.
- 1:44:31Speaker 4: I see. I need him to be a good starter,
- 1:44:34Speaker 4: and Matt Light was a good starter. Oh he was okay,
- 1:44:39Speaker 4: he was okay.
- 1:44:40Speaker 3: I think he's a little overrated, he's locally, but he was.
- 1:44:44Speaker 3: He was. I'll take him in and I like Matt Light.
- 1:44:46Speaker 4: I like him a lot personally, but I just think
- 1:44:49Speaker 4: he was okay. I think you could do better than that.
- 1:44:52Speaker 3: With the fourth overall pick in this draft. I don't know.
- 1:44:56Speaker 3: I don't have to take a tap, but that's the
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: thing that's all about.
- 1:45:00Speaker 8: There is no tackle, Like I know Paul's right though,
- 1:45:02Speaker 8: it's there's.
- 1:45:03Speaker 4: No tackle worthy of being taken with the fourth overall.
- 1:45:05Speaker 4: Picture takes somebody out.
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: But it seems there's no nobody. That's that's what is nobody.
- 1:45:09Speaker 8: I mean, that's what Daniel Jeremiah is saying, is making.
- 1:45:11Speaker 4: This I'm gonna make Evan faint. I'd rather have genty than.
- 1:45:14Speaker 3: A tackle no tackle at four myself.
- 1:45:18Speaker 4: Okay, but I wouldn't take genty either. But like you
- 1:45:20Speaker 4: could tell me about the Georgia guys. You could tell
- 1:45:22Speaker 4: me about Tyler Warren.
- 1:45:24Speaker 8: But like Jeremiah, I listened Dale Jeremiah talk about like
- 1:45:26Speaker 8: from basically like ten to forty. It's kind of like
- 1:45:29Speaker 8: what do you like you know and and how good
- 1:45:31Speaker 8: is your scouting staff at projecting how good these guys
- 1:45:33Speaker 8: are gonna be. I think it's gonna be a really
- 1:45:35Speaker 8: unpredictable draft for that second half of the first night
- 1:45:38Speaker 8: and into this.
- 1:45:39Speaker 4: I think the same five offensive lineman I think there
- 1:45:42Speaker 4: was a year I want to say, oh seven that
- 1:45:43Speaker 4: like four that made the Pro Bowl. You could have
- 1:45:46Speaker 4: that same five be the offensive line right now and
- 1:45:48Speaker 4: none of them would be Pro Bowlers. Tom Brady made
- 1:45:52Speaker 4: those guys Pro Bowls. Yeah, I I no doubt.
- 1:45:56Speaker 6: Daniel Jeremiah is like everybody's trying to tell everyone the
- 1:45:59Speaker 6: same thing about this draft. Like I would actually say
- 1:46:02Speaker 6: it's even further up like he said ten to forty.
- 1:46:04Speaker 6: I would say it's like four to forty. Like a
- 1:46:07Speaker 6: lot of this draft is gonna be fit like positional value,
- 1:46:11Speaker 6: need scheme, like, you know, is this guy a scheme fit?
- 1:46:15Speaker 6: Is he not a scheme like he's gonna It's not
- 1:46:17Speaker 6: one of those drafts where there's such overwhelming talent at
- 1:46:21Speaker 6: certain positions that you're just saying that's the best guy
- 1:46:24Speaker 6: on the board. It's gonna have to make sense for
- 1:46:26Speaker 6: your team.
- 1:46:27Speaker 8: It's just a question for I want to I want
- 1:46:29Speaker 8: to ask Paul a question. Oh, why is it so
- 1:46:31Speaker 8: hard for Patrick Mahomes to find a tackle like Matt Lane.
- 1:46:35Speaker 4: I think he had one, but the Chiefs were too
- 1:46:37Speaker 4: cheap to pay him and they let him go. Well,
- 1:46:39Speaker 4: Lando Brown was better than Matt lt they let him go,
- 1:46:45Speaker 4: And I think the Chiefs are exactly like the Patriots
- 1:46:48Speaker 4: and they just say, hey, Patrick, make do yeah, yeah,
- 1:46:53Speaker 4: and thanks for playing my side of the street. It's
- 1:46:56Speaker 4: proof that you don't need that to win if you
- 1:46:59Speaker 4: have talent in other places.
- 1:47:01Speaker 6: Right when the Super Bowl does.
- 1:47:02Speaker 4: I know they've only won three of them, they haven't
- 1:47:06Speaker 4: won all five. Admittedly they could have won all five.
- 1:47:08Speaker 6: They haven't won the Super Bowl.
- 1:47:09Speaker 4: If they had Orlando Brown for all five of those years,
- 1:47:12Speaker 4: maybe they would have won all five. But they didn't
- 1:47:14Speaker 4: because they cheaped out and you get what you deserve.
- 1:47:16Speaker 4: Clock hunts. That's why you finish at the bottom.
- 1:47:18Speaker 9: Of the lake.
- 1:47:19Speaker 4: The list.
- 1:47:20Speaker 3: Let's go to back to the phones, Sewn's and Vancouver.
- 1:47:22Speaker 3: What's up, Sean.
- 1:47:24Speaker 24: I have a couple of questions with the finding of
- 1:47:28Speaker 24: best fights are do you think that's a depth or
- 1:47:31Speaker 24: do the Patriots see that as a starter at left guard?
- 1:47:36Speaker 24: And then the other question I have is in regard
- 1:47:39Speaker 24: to the free agency. I the Patriots had lots of
- 1:47:42Speaker 24: needs and I'm pretty happy with what they've done in
- 1:47:46Speaker 24: terms of free agents because they've addressed a lot of them,
- 1:47:50Speaker 24: most of them. And when I say addressed, don't mean
- 1:47:52Speaker 24: they solved them. We don't know, but they they seem
- 1:47:55Speaker 24: to go after a lot of agents that could start.
- 1:47:57Speaker 24: And there's two though areas where we haven't addressed them.
- 1:48:01Speaker 24: And there's the biggest need, which is left tackle and
- 1:48:05Speaker 24: starting to pop wide receiver. Do you think they'll address
- 1:48:10Speaker 24: those before the draft happens, like with Cam Robinson or
- 1:48:15Speaker 24: Amari Cooper or do you think there's the trade's going
- 1:48:17Speaker 24: to happen. What do you think they would do before
- 1:48:21Speaker 24: before crazy then or actually not ends, but when the
- 1:48:26Speaker 24: draft actually starts. So I'll take that offline.
- 1:48:31Speaker 8: I mean, I think they'd be smart to try to,
- 1:48:32Speaker 8: Like I'm with Paul and like sign Cam Robinson, even
- 1:48:34Speaker 8: if it doesn't make that much of a difference. But
- 1:48:37Speaker 8: I'm open to some of these receivers, the older guys
- 1:48:40Speaker 8: that you know, the Steph Diggs, the Amari Coopers of
- 1:48:42Speaker 8: the world, that I just don't know what else there
- 1:48:44Speaker 8: is out there. And I don't really see with their
- 1:48:47Speaker 8: draft position how you're going to land either one of
- 1:48:50Speaker 8: those A plus kind of positions in this year's draft.
- 1:48:54Speaker 8: Like it just doesn't line up for me. So I
- 1:48:56Speaker 8: think they need to try to find some kind of
- 1:48:58Speaker 8: answers before the drafts with it. You don't need to
- 1:49:01Speaker 8: find the starting left tackle in this draft like that
- 1:49:03Speaker 8: seems like a really really hard position to be even
- 1:49:05Speaker 8: though they might they might do it. I was was
- 1:49:08Speaker 8: Schitzer Shitzer, I'd pencil him in as a starter. But
- 1:49:12Speaker 8: I'm just looking at that as in the perfect world,
- 1:49:15Speaker 8: Laden Robinson beats him out, you know, Yeah, I.
- 1:49:17Speaker 6: Think that's he's starting caliber player, not anymore really, but
- 1:49:21Speaker 6: I think he's a camp tryout. I think he's going
- 1:49:23Speaker 6: to be He's going to have to make the team,
- 1:49:27Speaker 6: But yeah, I just.
- 1:49:28Speaker 8: Look at it all like competition and we're praying to
- 1:49:31Speaker 8: God that our young guys emerged. But here's a played
- 1:49:34Speaker 8: some games and see how he stacked.
- 1:49:35Speaker 4: And people have been throwing that Minnesota guy who got released,
- 1:49:38Speaker 4: Garrett Bradbury. You know, maybe maybe he's a center. I mean,
- 1:49:42Speaker 4: I said to Mike yesterday, like, Minnesota won fourteen games
- 1:49:46Speaker 4: last year, he's making less than five million dollars as
- 1:49:48Speaker 4: their starting center and they cut him.
- 1:49:50Speaker 8: Yeah, he's He was right next to Ben Brown in
- 1:49:53Speaker 8: the PF.
- 1:49:54Speaker 4: Can't be can't be very good because that's pretty cheap
- 1:49:57Speaker 4: for a starting offensive lineman on a good team.
- 1:49:59Speaker 8: This it just makes me under like, well, then what
- 1:50:01Speaker 8: are you doing with Cole Strange, Ben Brown and Jake
- 1:50:03Speaker 8: Andrews already on the roster if you don't have any
- 1:50:05Speaker 8: kind of confidence that three guys spots, you know, emerge.
- 1:50:10Speaker 6: It's a really good guard class, especially when you factor
- 1:50:13Speaker 6: in the tackles in college that are probably all going
- 1:50:16Speaker 6: to move inside to guard. So one of the better
- 1:50:19Speaker 6: I would say probably the strength of the draft on
- 1:50:21Speaker 6: offense besides running back as guard. So I don't think
- 1:50:24Speaker 6: you have to draft it high, but like if you
- 1:50:25Speaker 6: drop the guard in the third or fourth round, just
- 1:50:27Speaker 6: to kind of throw into that that pile with the
- 1:50:30Speaker 6: names that you mentioned, and it's just another piece of competition.
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: Let Doug Maroon Cook. I'm all for it, Doug Cook, Tyler,
- 1:50:38Speaker 3: and Georgia. I agree with Paul that the current staff
- 1:50:41Speaker 3: has not actively neglected the offense, and I agree with
- 1:50:44Speaker 3: Evan that we shouldn't hold past regimes mistakes against Rabel
- 1:50:47Speaker 3: and company. However, in defense of those losing patients for
- 1:50:51Speaker 3: offensive developments, it feels like receiver and right tackle have
- 1:50:54Speaker 3: been towards the top of the need list going back
- 1:50:57Speaker 3: to the Obama administration, whether or not they were as
- 1:51:00Speaker 3: a realistic solution and free agency, that feeling of still
- 1:51:03Speaker 3: needing those positions and finally building an offense that can
- 1:51:07Speaker 3: actually score points is hard to shake.
- 1:51:11Speaker 4: I agree it's hard. I think people would feel better
- 1:51:14Speaker 4: if the offense was a lot better and the defense
- 1:51:17Speaker 4: needed addressing, because you feel like you can win games
- 1:51:20Speaker 4: that way more consistently. But I go back to I
- 1:51:24Speaker 4: don't have a blueprint that says you have to do this, this,
- 1:51:28Speaker 4: and this first and then get that whatever you think
- 1:51:32Speaker 4: presents itself, and I think this year Milton Williams was
- 1:51:35Speaker 4: the best guy available in free agency by a lot
- 1:51:37Speaker 4: of people's opinion. Right, he was the best free agent available.
- 1:51:42Speaker 4: He happens to play defense. The Patriots got him, don't.
- 1:51:46Speaker 4: I don't see the need to criticize for improving the
- 1:51:50Speaker 4: talent level of your roster, regardless of position.
- 1:51:54Speaker 3: Dave in Maine says, I'd like to hear everyone's opinion
- 1:51:57Speaker 3: on what Bill would do with the fourth overall pick
- 1:51:59Speaker 3: if he were still here, assuming he can't trade down.
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: We'd have to get a phone on the beach first
- 1:52:04Speaker 3: and ask him. He's been spending time.
- 1:52:08Speaker 6: In the beach lately, right, I think Mason Graham defensive line,
- 1:52:12Speaker 6: I mean someone in the trench.
- 1:52:14Speaker 5: I might say Will Campbell.
- 1:52:15Speaker 4: I would have said Will Campbell, but I think he
- 1:52:16Speaker 4: probably would have an abnormal thing on the arm length.
- 1:52:20Speaker 3: No, he'd say he can overcome it.
- 1:52:22Speaker 4: Yeah, I don't. I think the opposite, Like the whole
- 1:52:25Speaker 4: six four four six thing outside linebacker doesn't matter if
- 1:52:28Speaker 4: you're an elite athlete.
- 1:52:29Speaker 3: If you then again, we wouldn't have Drake May. So
- 1:52:34Speaker 3: maybe you know we'd be looking for you.
- 1:52:36Speaker 4: Probably wouldn't have Drake May.
- 1:52:38Speaker 8: That's what I was thinking is what if they took well,
- 1:52:40Speaker 8: you probably have JJ McCarthy. Yeah, if they took joelt
- 1:52:43Speaker 8: last year, what would your what would the Patriots thinking be?
- 1:52:45Speaker 4: Right now?
- 1:52:45Speaker 5: At fourth overall no quarterback but left tackle.
- 1:52:50Speaker 4: I think he's lost weight. I don't know. I mean,
- 1:52:52Speaker 4: I'm going to trust his one hundred and seventy. I
- 1:52:54Speaker 4: heard that he's he's dropped some weight, and I think
- 1:52:57Speaker 4: he had to have like a second procedure something to
- 1:52:59Speaker 4: clean out the I.
- 1:53:01Speaker 6: Been able to work out play eventually.
- 1:53:02Speaker 3: But all right, let's get back to these callers. We're
- 1:53:06Speaker 3: gonna get them on. Eldred North Carolina. What's up? Eldred
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: wanted mcmellan.
- 1:53:14Speaker 4: Hey, Paul, Yes, sir.
- 1:53:16Speaker 11: Y'all slipping, y'all sleeping on Milton man.
- 1:53:18Speaker 14: Let me tell you why?
- 1:53:19Speaker 5: Who Milton?
- 1:53:20Speaker 11: I'm looking at NFL Milton, Joe Milton.
- 1:53:23Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm guilty of that.
- 1:53:25Speaker 11: You're right, NFL Network. What Darren James he's talking about.
- 1:53:30Speaker 11: If I was the Giants, if I was Cleveland, I
- 1:53:33Speaker 11: traded to go to the Patriot and get Joe Milton
- 1:53:35Speaker 11: because I played against the men and that boy is
- 1:53:37Speaker 11: something else and he he's better nose than the draft,
- 1:53:41Speaker 11: and I heard that more than once from everybody. And
- 1:53:43Speaker 11: if they're talking about them on the network, I wouldn't
- 1:53:46Speaker 11: trade for a third. He's gonna give me a suck.
- 1:53:48Speaker 3: So remind me he was the sixth round pick, freder
- 1:53:51Speaker 3: six sixth round pick. Why did all these kids pass
- 1:53:54Speaker 3: up with them in the draft and all of a
- 1:53:55Speaker 3: sudden they're in love them, not only but everybody else.
- 1:53:59Speaker 6: They didn't know what elgi He was in college for
- 1:54:01Speaker 6: six years, Like, how do they not know it?
- 1:54:03Speaker 3: Like he so one half of a game.
- 1:54:06Speaker 4: I would even say if he had a great summer
- 1:54:08Speaker 4: and then he got a chance to play in the game,
- 1:54:10Speaker 4: he had a terrible summer. Again, better he got better.
- 1:54:13Speaker 4: He might have gotten better, But he played well in
- 1:54:15Speaker 4: the first half of the last game of the year.
- 1:54:17Speaker 6: He might have gotten better. That's he might have gotten better.
- 1:54:20Speaker 6: But like everybody's had a chance to evaluate Joe Milton
- 1:54:23Speaker 6: like they had.
- 1:54:24Speaker 3: Him him now and.
- 1:54:27Speaker 6: Everybody there's six years in college, he was at the
- 1:54:31Speaker 6: Senior Bowl, he played in the preseason.
- 1:54:33Speaker 11: This is not.
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: Listen. I hope, I hope all these teams love him
- 1:54:39Speaker 3: that much.
- 1:54:40Speaker 4: Yeah, and I really don't care what he is compared
- 1:54:45Speaker 4: to Kim cam Wood like that doesn't like, that doesn't
- 1:54:49Speaker 4: matter to me at all. I only care if he's
- 1:54:52Speaker 4: an NFL player or not. If I think he could
- 1:54:55Speaker 4: be a really good NFL quarterback, I would keep him.
- 1:54:57Speaker 4: I don't care if he's better than Shudas Sanders or
- 1:54:59Speaker 4: not as good as Will Howard. It doesn't matter to me.
- 1:55:02Speaker 4: It only matters to me what I think of him.
- 1:55:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you because he played, he played, he played.
- 1:55:11Speaker 4: One game, Like would you would who's that guy that
- 1:55:15Speaker 4: the Seahawks gave all that my Matt Flynn? Would you
- 1:55:17Speaker 4: take Matt Flynn? He played a great he had that
- 1:55:21Speaker 4: great little run there and got him a free agent
- 1:55:23Speaker 4: contract at Seattle in a third round rookie who's five
- 1:55:26Speaker 4: ten beat him out. Russell Wilson was before he was
- 1:55:32Speaker 4: Russell Wilson though, But.
- 1:55:34Speaker 6: I just I mean, like you have a large, large sample,
- 1:55:37Speaker 6: like maybe one of the largest samples you could possibly
- 1:55:39Speaker 6: have on a player with Joe Milton up until this point,
- 1:55:43Speaker 6: like the guy who was in college for six years,
- 1:55:46Speaker 6: Like he had ample opportunities to start at Michigan and Tennessee.
- 1:55:50Speaker 6: Like this is not a prospect that's taken everybody by surprise.
- 1:55:54Speaker 4: But Eldred is right. He classified me I am a
- 1:55:57Speaker 4: non believer, and I said, I think I said about half.
- 1:56:00Speaker 4: This is going to be the next thing I'm wrong about.
- 1:56:02Speaker 4: I just don't see it. But there's a million things
- 1:56:06Speaker 4: that if you give you a list of that I
- 1:56:07Speaker 4: was wrong about as could be the next one.
- 1:56:10Speaker 3: Hey, Chester, what's up?
- 1:56:12Speaker 25: Thanks for squeezing me in here. At the end, it's
- 1:56:15Speaker 25: time for a little I'll call of crime.
- 1:56:17Speaker 14: All right.
- 1:56:18Speaker 25: This one goes out to mister tax bracket Chris Christian
- 1:56:22Speaker 25: in La aka Chris with an STFU O. This guy
- 1:56:27Speaker 25: is in short sided analysis is absolutely making my blood boil.
- 1:56:31Speaker 25: You know, the whole goal going into this offseason was
- 1:56:34Speaker 25: to build from the inside out, starting with heart, character
- 1:56:37Speaker 25: and then obviously literally its physician. You know, getting Williams
- 1:56:42Speaker 25: Moses Splaine really solidifies our d And you know, we've
- 1:56:46Speaker 25: been playing from behind for so long. I think we
- 1:56:49Speaker 25: can finally flip the script here now. You know, as
- 1:56:52Speaker 25: asing said right after the call, you know we've got
- 1:56:54Speaker 25: the draft.
- 1:56:55Speaker 10: We've got a lot to.
- 1:56:56Speaker 25: Look forward to here. But I got to tell you, man,
- 1:56:59Speaker 25: Splaine really gets me fired up. We need a guy
- 1:57:02Speaker 25: with a motor. That's passionate. You know, he's got a
- 1:57:04Speaker 25: lot around him. But you know, I feel like we
- 1:57:06Speaker 25: got another Nikovich type of a linebacker back there to
- 1:57:10Speaker 25: really set the tone behind the D line. And you know,
- 1:57:14Speaker 25: feeling really strong about that. Another thing the elephant in
- 1:57:18Speaker 25: the room to me, guys, you know, where's Josh McDaniels
- 1:57:21Speaker 25: In the conversation of having an offensive mind on this
- 1:57:23Speaker 25: coaching staff. I feel like things are gonna get back
- 1:57:26Speaker 25: to where they need to be in terms of orchestrating
- 1:57:29Speaker 25: a competent offense. I'm excited about this.
- 1:57:32Speaker 3: You know, we gotta build it.
- 1:57:33Speaker 25: Running back. I think we go late, try to get
- 1:57:35Speaker 25: guy like camp Scataboo. That's another passion guy, and you know,
- 1:57:39Speaker 25: hopefully he can fit in. But listen, I'm all in
- 1:57:42Speaker 25: on getting excited, optimistic. Let's go, let's get to the
- 1:57:46Speaker 25: pro shop. Let's slide from apparel and that's all I got.
- 1:57:50Speaker 3: All right, thanks, jes Let's go. Let's go bring them in.
- 1:58:03Speaker 4: They need to improve the offense. If they're going to
- 1:58:05Speaker 4: do what he said though, you're gonna start playing from
- 1:58:07Speaker 4: in front, right, they need to find a way to score. Yeah, right,
- 1:58:12Speaker 4: Having a good defense doesn't give you a lead. Let's
- 1:58:15Speaker 4: just maybe maybe you're not down by three touchdowns like
- 1:58:19Speaker 4: you were last year, but you got to find a
- 1:58:21Speaker 4: way to score in these games.
- 1:58:23Speaker 6: You can all you can all complain about the offense
- 1:58:26Speaker 6: in May first, Okay, like just if they get through
- 1:58:28Speaker 6: the draft and we're still in this position, even.
- 1:58:31Speaker 3: Then, there's gonna be some changes after that. You know, guys,
- 1:58:35Speaker 3: you still think that just happens. It's always happened. There's
- 1:58:39Speaker 3: a lot of history there.
- 1:58:40Speaker 4: Who's the guy that got last year?
- 1:58:42Speaker 9: After that?
- 1:58:42Speaker 3: Say, every year it happens, but it's the guy.
- 1:58:44Speaker 5: They got the year before Cam Newton?
- 1:58:46Speaker 8: Was that the Cam Newton year.
- 1:58:47Speaker 3: We can't judge anything by the last four years.
- 1:58:50Speaker 4: That's that's what you get at that time of year,
- 1:58:52Speaker 4: Cam Newton and.
- 1:58:53Speaker 3: At the time we were our heads were exploding, right.
- 1:58:55Speaker 3: We had an emergency podcast when we got him.
- 1:58:59Speaker 4: We did, but that's for the same reasons. It's not
- 1:59:01Speaker 4: because we thought the offense was fixed.
- 1:59:03Speaker 3: No, But it was exciting to get a former m
- 1:59:06Speaker 3: v P.
- 1:59:06Speaker 6: You know, just like I'm to watch the new draft
- 1:59:09Speaker 6: night if they do get Travis Hunter on Thursday night,
- 1:59:13Speaker 6: and I believe that the plan will be to play
- 1:59:15Speaker 6: them at wide.
- 1:59:16Speaker 3: Try him there first.
- 1:59:17Speaker 4: Yeah, that that changes this then all.
- 1:59:19Speaker 6: Of a sudden, like all these like people neglecting the offense,
- 1:59:22Speaker 6: it's like not so much sitting there.
- 1:59:28Speaker 4: And that's what keeps saying I'm not going to get
- 1:59:30Speaker 4: them in trouble for things that they haven't done yet.
- 1:59:33Speaker 4: That's one of his stupid crutch phrases that he uses
- 1:59:36Speaker 4: all the time. But like, if they do that, and
- 1:59:39Speaker 4: he's the best wide receiver in the draft, like everybody says,
- 1:59:41Speaker 4: and the Patriots view him as that, right, the Patriots
- 1:59:44Speaker 4: are on record, well not record, but there's reports that
- 1:59:47Speaker 4: indicate the Patriots believe he's the best corner and wide
- 1:59:50Speaker 4: receiver in the draft, right, right, So if you draft him,
- 1:59:54Speaker 4: like Evan said at four, the generationalking about is your playing?
- 2:00:00Speaker 5: Mm hmmm, sign me up?
- 2:00:03Speaker 6: Okay, do you want gent stop?
- 2:00:06Speaker 5: I mean, if he's still on the board.
- 2:00:10Speaker 3: What would you go? What would you give to go
- 2:00:13Speaker 3: from fourth to number two in order to get Travis Hunter, Joe.
- 2:00:18Speaker 4: Milton co sign I would give Joe Milton for that?
- 2:00:23Speaker 3: Would you give up two threes?
- 2:00:26Speaker 8: Just not sixteen nine?
- 2:00:28Speaker 4: I don't know what sure, I don't know what it
- 2:00:32Speaker 4: costs him about two spots in this draft.
- 2:00:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't either, Like.
- 2:00:35Speaker 4: I don't want to say, like, oh yeah, would give
- 2:00:36Speaker 4: two threes to find out? Like what do you kiddit?
- 2:00:38Speaker 4: You could have given up a fifth to do that,
- 2:00:40Speaker 4: Like I don't, I don't. I don't know those numbers
- 2:00:42Speaker 4: off the top of my head.
- 2:00:43Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 2:00:44Speaker 3: So all right, that's all right. Well that's going to
