- 0:28Hey everybody, good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:31Do you have any idea how to gain profound insight in a situation?
- 0:37So this is a coaching trick that I want to teach you all today.
- 0:40And how you gain profound insight is by really listening
- 0:44and asking yourself to stay in a very curious state of mind and
- 0:48to be present 1000% or as much as you can be present.
- 0:53Because I always measure how how can humans really judge their
- 0:57presence? But I'm going to say as much as
- 0:59you can be present, be present and see what you can learn from
- 1:03being in that place of curiosity.
- 1:05Now when you start to have a conversation with somebody or
- 1:11you start to look at situations out there and you're you're
- 1:15trying to take things in, like, you know, you're just trying to
- 1:17say something is terrible, something is awful.
- 1:20We don't know. There's a lot of awful things
- 1:21going on in the world. If we choose to really study
- 1:24them, we can find out a lot of insight about those things.
- 1:28And sometimes what we have to do is give ourselves the gift of
- 1:32saying, I'm going to ask the good questions right now.
- 1:35Because if I ask good questions, there's a very good possibility
- 1:39that I'm going to learn things and I'm going to get some
- 1:40insight into things. And rarely, rarely are things
- 1:45just about what they seem to be. Rarely are they that they're
- 1:49much more complex. And we like to believe it's
- 1:51simple. We try to simplify things, but
- 1:53that doesn't always work. You can't simplify things.
- 1:56And even when you think you know stuff, you probably don't know
- 2:00stuff. So you have to recognize that
- 2:02profound insight comes from curiosity.
- 2:05Profound insight comes from deeply listening.
- 2:08Profound insight comes from study.
- 2:11You cannot just randomly say I'm going to look something up, read
- 2:15one paragraph, and be an expert on it.
- 2:17And you also can't do that with people.
- 2:19You can't assume that you're going to know everything about a
- 2:22person in that moment. You're not ever going to know
- 2:25absolutely everything about somebody, because people really
- 2:30don't share all the things that are there.
- 2:33And when they do share everything, often times we say,
- 2:35well, that person's crazy, that person's nutty.
- 2:38And that's not going to work. We we, we clear is know who's
- 2:42going to share with you when you think they're crazy.
- 2:44Nobody. Nobody's going to share with you
- 2:45when you think they're crazy. So the most important aspect
- 2:49that you can give as a gift to basically yourself and to
- 2:54anybody else is to recognize that there is a gift.
- 2:58In the profound listening piece, there is a gift in asking the
- 3:01questions. There's a gift in giving
- 3:04somebody the time and the space to be themselves and be able to
- 3:09share what their deepest thoughts are.
- 3:11And then you're going to have the profound insight.
- 3:14Now, if it's a subject you're studying, you're not necessarily
- 3:17talking to people about it. You're just studying it.
- 3:19You're taking it out of books. It tends to be that you know you
- 3:23have to. In order to gain profound
- 3:25insight, you have to read different types of books.
- 3:28You can't really read just one side of things.
- 3:31So you know you you must look at all different points of view.
- 3:37And we as a culture are losing our ability to have profound
- 3:41insight because we shelter ourselves in our in the position
- 3:46that we take up and then we stay in that position and then we
- 3:49look for information that will support our argument, support
- 3:54our beliefs. But that's not the way to
- 3:56actually be able to gain profound insight.
- 4:00All that is, is giving yourself the ability to understand that
- 4:03you are right. And that's not necessarily
- 4:06profound insight, is it? You know, because you might not
- 4:08be right. But you certainly can argue the
- 4:11point for it, because you've been studying how to prove your
- 4:14point. But when you really want
- 4:16insight, when you want to really know something, you have to look
- 4:19at it from multiple sides. And at this time in our world,
- 4:23there is nothing more important than looking at things from
- 4:26different points of view, because not every point of view
- 4:29is an absolute correct, not every point.
- 4:32And sometimes there will be anecdotal situations that show
- 4:35up and sometimes there will be more than anecdotal situations
- 4:39that show up. But you absolutely can do
- 4:41yourself the favor. Lift your intelligence, lift
- 4:44your ability to be able to learn and influence by recognizing
- 4:49that in order to have that, that level of profound insight into
- 4:54something, you must look at all sides and you must ask curious
- 4:58questions. And you must be able to talk to
- 5:01different people, read different books, take in all these
- 5:03different levels of it, ask and listen and really put yourself
- 5:08in a position of neutrality. And then you will find out some
- 5:11magical things, my friends. All right, I will see you all
- 5:14tomorrow. And I hope you have a blessed
- 5:16day. Bye.
