- 0:12[SPEAKER_00]: from training camp, and officially training camp, we can finally say is next week, football is back next week, at least, if you're somebody who cares about practice, which when we haven't seen any real football for however many months it's been since the Super Bowl, February, early February to July, I mean, what is that?
- 0:34[SPEAKER_00]: Like four months, five months?
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm ready for some football, I'm very excited,
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: This week is still what it is.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: We still have a week to, you know, wait around.

- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: Right now we're looking at the athletic put out players with most on the line in 2026 from every team and so we're obviously looking at what they had to say about the Jaguar player with the most on the line heading into 2026 and this is from Jeff Howell he says Brian Thomas Jr. is the player with the most on the line we're going to dive into it.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: right here right now the 23-year-old receiver had a forgettable debut season with Coach Liam Cohen.
- 2:16[SPEAKER_00]: That's like what?
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: Catching 48 passes for 770 yards and two touchdowns and 14 games.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: That's a nightmarish output compared to 87 catches for 1,282 yards and 10 touchdowns from his rookie season in 2024.
- 2:30[SPEAKER_00]: especially as the Jaguar's offense improved across the board around him, Thomas.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: A first-round pick under the previous regime, fell behind receiver Sparker Washington and trade deadline acquisition Jacobi Myers down the stretch.
- 2:42[SPEAKER_00]: With Travis Hunter likely to generate more usage and a reliance on tight ends, Thomas needs a fine to wait to make himself more consistently impactful.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I think that that's fair, overall.
- 2:57[SPEAKER_00]: BTJ is not the player that I would have at the top of the list with players that have the most on the line, simply because if BTJ doesn't have a great year, is it going to be the end for him?
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: No, somebody is, even if it's not Jacksonville, there will be a team out there willing to bet on his talent, willing to bet on what they saw.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: during his rookie year, and the flashes from 2025, and the flashes that will undoubtedly happen in 2026, even if he has like a down year, another disappointing season.
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: So, I just don't think there's that much on the line overall, like this is not going to be the end of Brian Thomas Jr.'s, opportunity to make a big impact in this league.
- 3:47[SPEAKER_00]: Whereas there's some other players that you know, if it doesn't go well for them this year, they might not get another real opportunity on the Jaguars.
- 3:57[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, just examples, I would say, you know, Patrick McCary, he needs to prove he's a starter in the NFL, otherwise he might not be ever again.
- 4:12[SPEAKER_00]: Walker Little is he going to get the opportunity to prove that?
- 4:15[SPEAKER_00]: Who knows?
- 4:16[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know what the hell situation is with Cole Van Lannon, and what the hell situation will be with the Jaguar's offence of line in general.
- 4:25[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Ventral Miller, he has a lot on the line, because if he plays to his peak ability this year and wins a starting job and plays well, he's going to be a starting line back or somewhere, getting paid to do so.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: If not, you know, he'll probably just be a career
- 4:48[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of guys that I think personally do have more on the line.
- 4:51[SPEAKER_00]: I think Brian Thomas Jr. is the most high-profile player that does have something on the line here this year, but again, it's year three.
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: This is a young football player.
- 5:03[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, Brian Thomas Jr. how old is he now?
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: He's only 23.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_00]: He'll be 24 in October, like it's still a very, very young
- 5:20[SPEAKER_00]: It ain't going to be over for him if this year doesn't go the way the way he has planned.
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: But what I will say is if he wants to be viewed more like a potential superstar than more like somebody who's just had a disappointing run after a kind of blip on the radar type rookie season, yeah, he's got to go get it.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: We've been talking about this a lot since we really got to start seeing Brian Thomas Jr. on the practice field this offseason.
- 5:54[SPEAKER_00]: He looks like a different guy.
- 5:55[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he looks stronger, he looks more dialed in, he looks like he has better chemistry with Trevor Lawrence.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_00]: And then you hear him talk and he talks about changing up his mindset.
- 6:09[SPEAKER_00]: He sounds like a more mature player, you see better body language on the field.
- 6:19[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like there's a little bit more of an edge, it seems like there's a little bit more just like in seeing him interact with the players around him and the team around him, it seems like there's a little bit more comfortability.
- 6:33[SPEAKER_00]: So I think that BTJ is about to absolutely ball out this year.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_00]: We've talked about that a good bit.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: The deep ball looks like it's back in Jacksonville with Trevor Lawrence and Brian Thomas Jr. Now you've got to continue to prove that throughout training camp, throughout the regular season, and that you can be more than just a deep ball merchant.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: But
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: The one thing I will say, even if BTJ is not quite as good as he was as a rookie, not quite as bad as he was last year, somewhere in the middle, he's still draw a number one corners.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: So, and he's still drawing the attention of the defense, which helps out the entire jack's offense.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: So, even if he doesn't have this like euphoric,
- 7:20[SPEAKER_00]: come back type of season where everything is just going so much better and everyone's fired up and, you know, BTJ going into the last year at this time, everybody thought Brian Thomas Jr was a superstar.
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: Everybody thought BTJ was going to absolutely take off in his new Liam Cohen offense and that's not what happened.
- 7:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I would love to see him have a
- 7:45[SPEAKER_00]: You don't have to be like the model of consistency in terms of like having elite practices every day.
- 7:53[SPEAKER_00]: But if he has more good practices than bad practices, a lot more good plays than bad plays, has good body language.
- 7:59[SPEAKER_00]: Again, continues to show maturity and the work ethic and everything, that'll be a big deal.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: My personal opinion, I've shared this when I did my predictions for the Jaguars receiving stat lines.
- 8:13[SPEAKER_00]: I do think 70 plus catches, I think, 1100 yards.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think close to 10 touchdowns.
- 8:24[SPEAKER_00]: I think he's got a good year.
- 8:26[SPEAKER_00]: Now, is he gonna have 87 catches and almost 1,300 yards and 10 touchdowns?
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: That's a little bit harder for me to see just because there's so much talent to spread the ball around, right?
- 8:37[SPEAKER_00]: Jacobi Myers, I think Parker Washington is going to lead the jag wars and receptions.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: Britain's strange, you name it, there's so many talented receives Travis Hunter to spread the ball around too.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: So I don't know that the numbers are going to be as gody, but if he can
- 8:55[SPEAKER_00]: look more like the guy who everybody thought was a superstar coming out of 20, 24 rookie season.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: That would just be so cool for him personally, for the Jack Wars as a franchise as a team, all those things.
- 9:07[SPEAKER_00]: So I can't wait to see it, cannot wait to see him on the practice field.
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: Next Wednesday, July 29th.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, I do think that he has some on the line.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: at least within the building and starting to feel that around town a little bit.
- 9:31[SPEAKER_00]: It could be potentially like, you know, maybe Brian Thomas Jr. just need the fresh start.
- 9:36[SPEAKER_00]: So that could be, yeah, I could see that, but again, I don't think he's in any danger or jeopardy of not having more opportunities in this league, because teams quite simply are going to
- 9:56[SPEAKER_00]: have the pedigree that he has and you know the on field production that we've seen he's going to get another shot no matter what but uh i do i do want a CBTJ have a great year for him for the team and i think he's on track to do that really appreciate y'all tuning in if you enjoy the content please like and subscribe and i'll say hit that high button y'all have a good one
