- 0:11Speaker 2: beautiful friend Trista Sutter. She is not with us today,
- 0:14Speaker 2: but another lovely lady is, and I am so excited
- 0:17Speaker 2: to be talking with her today. She's on the new
- 0:20Speaker 2: HG TV show Bachelor Mansion Takeover.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Of course, one of our favorite goldens, so let's bring
- 0:27Speaker 1: her in. It is Sandra Mason. Hi, Sandra, Hey.
- 0:32Speaker 3: Bob Guiney. There's the man. How are you dood great?
- 0:36Speaker 3: How's Canyon Grayson?
- 0:38Speaker 1: She's doing great there. Oh, you're so sweet to remember
- 0:41Speaker 1: all their names. They're all doing great.
- 0:44Speaker 2: Actually, Canyon and I were just having this conversation. We
- 0:47Speaker 2: had a school teacher conferences today, so I ran right
- 0:52Speaker 2: from there to hear even I left a little bit
- 0:54Speaker 2: early so I could get to talk to you, and
- 0:55Speaker 2: Kenyon was giving me the rest of the download. But
- 0:57Speaker 2: they all say hello, So you're getting love from everybody,
- 1:00Speaker 2: and I'm saying hello, so great to see your face again.
- 1:03Speaker 3: You too, Sugar?
- 1:04Speaker 1: You here now?
- 1:06Speaker 2: Yes, I was just saying, yeah, it's from the last
- 1:08Speaker 2: year's Carmel trip.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Right, yep, yeah, well, great.
- 1:12Speaker 2: To see you again, and great to see you on
- 1:14Speaker 2: our on our small screens again too, of course with
- 1:17Speaker 2: the Bachelor Mansion takeover on HGTV.
- 1:20Speaker 1: I'm excited for you to be on that show.
- 1:22Speaker 2: And excited for people to get to see you and
- 1:24Speaker 2: maybe get to hear you a little.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Bit, a little bit, I mean, let's talk about that.
- 1:31Speaker 4: Were you.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Were you surprised?
- 1:32Speaker 2: I mean it seems like it was kind of starting
- 1:35Speaker 2: off as a well, let's see what we get, and
- 1:37Speaker 2: then all of a sudden it was incredibly competitive.
- 1:40Speaker 1: I mean it was.
- 1:41Speaker 2: It was a pretty quick jump into the deep end
- 1:44Speaker 2: of the shark pool, wasn't it.
- 1:46Speaker 4: It was quick that I expected though, with the first
- 1:49Speaker 4: challenge of the box, the mystery box.
- 1:51Speaker 3: Or whatever, I that was.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Challenging for all of us, the Golden hammer awaited.
- 1:58Speaker 3: Yes, yes, yes.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Were you surprised?
- 2:01Speaker 2: I mean, you know, watching the show at home and
- 2:06Speaker 2: I was getting so frustrated for you to get heard
- 2:11Speaker 2: in that group of people.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I was like, come on, let her talk.
- 2:14Speaker 2: And then I mean, were you surprised how hard it
- 2:17Speaker 2: was to get a word in edgewise? First and foremost
- 2:18Speaker 2: and then second were you surprised when the votes came through,
- 2:22Speaker 2: and you were you were sent home.
- 2:25Speaker 4: Surprised on both, although I can tell you when the
- 2:29Speaker 4: when Jill introduced.
- 2:30Speaker 3: The fake date card and she read.
- 2:33Speaker 4: And I thought, mm hmm, I think I'm going home
- 2:36Speaker 4: because there had been some alliances formed off camera whatever,
- 2:40Speaker 4: and I think a couple of girls were even on
- 2:42Speaker 4: the same season or something, and yeah, they're all my
- 2:45Speaker 4: I could have, they could be my granddaughters.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Well, man, I.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Mean for you and Chris were two of the people
- 2:53Speaker 2: in the crosshairs early there, and I'm like, what is
- 2:56Speaker 2: this attack on my goldens?
- 2:57Speaker 1: What are you guys doing?
- 2:58Speaker 4: Yes, if they could eliminate three, maybe Joan would have
- 3:02Speaker 4: been gone, who knows?
- 3:03Speaker 2: Oh gosh, yeah. Well, I gotta be honest with you.
- 3:07Speaker 2: I thought, you know, it was interesting. I mean, Jeremy
- 3:10Speaker 2: got the boot the first week, and you, of course
- 3:13Speaker 2: did not make it through that first that first time
- 3:17Speaker 2: frame where they started with the eliminations. I was very
- 3:20Speaker 2: sad to see you go. I was sad to see
- 3:21Speaker 2: Jeremy go too. I thought that guy could have brought
- 3:23Speaker 2: some to the table. To me, had some good insight.
- 3:25Speaker 2: It seemed from a different perspective. But I was very
- 3:28Speaker 2: happy that Chris made it through the gauntlet so that
- 3:31Speaker 2: all our goldens weren't sent home on day.
- 3:33Speaker 4: One be a tiebreaker. He made it through via tiebreaker exactly.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:38Speaker 4: The part that really I don't know made me feel like, well,
- 3:42Speaker 4: wait a minute, what about this being a design show,
- 3:45Speaker 4: was that before we got to really get into the
- 3:47Speaker 4: meat of designing, we were gone, so well, no one
- 3:51Speaker 4: knows I can design exactly.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Yeah, your whole point of going on there, I mean,
- 3:55Speaker 2: it wasn't just to talk about you know, flat or
- 3:58Speaker 2: semi gloss or you know, shine paint, which, by the way.
- 4:03Speaker 1: That was the right decision.
- 4:05Speaker 2: You know, you you you definitely got to approach that
- 4:07Speaker 2: from the right perspective, from your paint choices. I know
- 4:10Speaker 2: that from having kids, and you know, you don't want
- 4:13Speaker 2: to have a house where everything is every wall you
- 4:15Speaker 2: walk by is going to get.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Marked up, right.
- 4:18Speaker 4: But more than that, it is the producers were trying
- 4:21Speaker 4: to get us to make a decision on they needed
- 4:23Speaker 4: to order the paint, and the gaps we couldn't. They
- 4:26Speaker 4: couldn't keep on subject. They bounce from paint to lamps,
- 4:30Speaker 4: to carpets.
- 4:31Speaker 3: To It was.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Yeah, and to the uh to the design element of
- 4:37Speaker 2: the arch on a couple of bunk beds. You know,
- 4:40Speaker 2: there was a lot of talk going on there. So,
- 4:42Speaker 2: I mean, I did feel like during the challenge, you
- 4:45Speaker 2: know it it was I'm sure there was a little
- 4:48Speaker 2: editing involved, but obviously I'm sure not that much to
- 4:51Speaker 2: the point where it didn't seem like you were being
- 4:53Speaker 2: utilized and your strengths are being utilized during that time,
- 4:57Speaker 2: you know, and I had.
- 4:58Speaker 1: To believe there was.
- 5:01Speaker 2: It seemed like everyone was talking at once and no
- 5:03Speaker 2: one was acquiescing.
- 5:05Speaker 4: You had no idea, a lot of chatter going.
- 5:12Speaker 3: On, oh mg, just talk all over each other.
- 5:16Speaker 4: And I don't know how they got I don't know
- 5:18Speaker 4: how the editors got what they got out of that.
- 5:20Speaker 3: But it was just back and forth, back and forth. Change,
- 5:23Speaker 3: something changed, something.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Un Yeah, there was a lot the clause were out.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Now you're a real estate ation and you got a
- 5:31Speaker 2: ton of experience with that, and so I mean from
- 5:34Speaker 2: the perspective of you looking at because obviously, I mean
- 5:37Speaker 2: you didn't even get to see the final reveals.
- 5:39Speaker 1: Of what went on with the rooms.
- 5:42Speaker 2: You know, where was your head when you had a
- 5:44Speaker 2: chance to kind of take a look at that, because
- 5:45Speaker 2: I mean, the Bachelor manasion has become an iconic home
- 5:50Speaker 2: right when it comes to a setting and you, I'm
- 5:55Speaker 2: sure have spent some time there, probably not a ton
- 5:57Speaker 2: of time there, but it's like when you're when you're
- 5:59Speaker 2: walking aroun you see some parts of the home that
- 6:01Speaker 2: maybe shouldn't be touched, other elements they should. You know,
- 6:05Speaker 2: what was what was your thought process on on what
- 6:08Speaker 2: needed to be attacked in that house and on the
- 6:11Speaker 2: reveals when you got to see the reveals.
- 6:12Speaker 4: On that first after that first challenge, well, let me
- 6:16Speaker 4: just say, going back to GB one, Golden Bachelor Season one,
- 6:20Speaker 4: when we had some time to ourselves, I remember I'd
- 6:24Speaker 4: walk around and look and say, oh my god, if
- 6:26Speaker 4: I could, if I could redesign this room, I would
- 6:28Speaker 4: do X, Y and Z, or look at this sestion
- 6:31Speaker 4: such this boy, this is old and then old and
- 6:34Speaker 4: antiquated and for this needs help see and being a
- 6:38Speaker 4: real chor, I still am forty one years now, I
- 6:41Speaker 4: have been in homes that were foreclosure, to homes that
- 6:46Speaker 4: were grander than the mansion, and so I've seen it all.
- 6:50Speaker 4: I've owned five homes. I've owned two airbnbs. So I've
- 6:54Speaker 4: decorated a what my daughter decorate. So I had a
- 6:59Speaker 4: little bit experience, you know, And I did my homework
- 7:02Speaker 4: before this. I'd gone to fabric stores, I'd pulled swatches,
- 7:05Speaker 4: I'd done some paint, some pre paint selections.
- 7:09Speaker 3: So I did some homework.
- 7:10Speaker 4: For this particular HGTV show. But yeah, Noah bail.
- 7:15Speaker 2: Right, you didn't even get to pull out your your
- 7:17Speaker 2: samples or anything.
- 7:18Speaker 1: Did you not a thing?
- 7:20Speaker 4: Yep?
- 7:20Speaker 1: Man? Did you try to grab them for that first episode?
- 7:23Speaker 4: Or I think there was There was one one time
- 7:26Speaker 4: when when we were off camera that I pulled out
- 7:28Speaker 4: some swatches in one of the gals, but they weren't interested.
- 7:31Speaker 4: I think it was a lunch hour and they were
- 7:33Speaker 4: trying to eat.
- 7:33Speaker 2: So well, I got to imagine, because you you strike
- 7:38Speaker 2: me as someone who you know, obviously, you've been very
- 7:40Speaker 2: successful in your life and you've you've done a lot,
- 7:43Speaker 2: but you don't strike me as someone who is overly competitive,
- 7:47Speaker 2: Like I don't see that in you, and and maybe
- 7:49Speaker 2: I'm misreading you, but I feel like I've gotten to
- 7:52Speaker 2: know you, and I don't you don't strike me someone
- 7:54Speaker 2: who's overly competitive, So I can imagine in that moment
- 7:59Speaker 2: that you had to be kind of like, what is
- 8:01Speaker 2: going on here?
- 8:02Speaker 3: I mean, right, well, yeah, let maybe back up here.
- 8:07Speaker 4: I am competitive on the pickleball court, I'm competitive in racquetball.
- 8:11Speaker 4: Yeah yeah, yes, but in this environment and even say
- 8:15Speaker 4: in GB one, no, I'm not competing for a man's heart.
- 8:18Speaker 4: If he wants me, he does, If he doesn't, he doesn't.
- 8:20Speaker 4: And with this situation, I think I wanted to be competitive.
- 8:24Speaker 4: But again, six voices are a lot of voices, and
- 8:29Speaker 4: we kind of designated Joan as our team leader. But
- 8:33Speaker 4: I don't even know if that got respected.
- 8:35Speaker 1: I didn't. I mean you you said it.
- 8:37Speaker 2: I heard you say in a project in life and anything,
- 8:42Speaker 2: you know, you can't all be the leader, like you
- 8:45Speaker 2: kind of have some leaders, and you gotta have some
- 8:46Speaker 2: people get in line to be the workers and the followers,
- 8:48Speaker 2: and and you were willing to relegate yourself to that point,
- 8:51Speaker 2: even though you have a lot more experience than than
- 8:54Speaker 2: a lot of those people combined. Right, And so I
- 8:57Speaker 2: feel like you know that was that could have been
- 9:00Speaker 2: what dig you in, you know, unfortunately, right, But I
- 9:05Speaker 2: do think it was the right choice because there comes
- 9:07Speaker 2: a point where what are you just going to be
- 9:08Speaker 2: louder than everybody else?
- 9:09Speaker 1: I mean how many times? You know? And then so
- 9:13Speaker 1: I will tell you this because I think it's important.
- 9:15Speaker 2: You know, every time a show like this comes up, right,
- 9:18Speaker 2: And I was not approached on this one, but back
- 9:21Speaker 2: in the day when they first came out with Bachelor
- 9:22Speaker 2: in Paradise and before that, Bachelor Pad, they would call
- 9:27Speaker 2: me and be like, you know, what'd you think about
- 9:28Speaker 2: doing these shows?
- 9:29Speaker 1: And I'm like, I don't have it. I don't have the.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Cutthroat element in me. So, you know, like when it
- 9:36Speaker 2: would come down to like forming an alliance.
- 9:38Speaker 1: I'd be like, what are you talking about? Like, these
- 9:41Speaker 1: people are my friends.
- 9:42Speaker 2: I love them, So I guarantee you I would be
- 9:44Speaker 2: the first one voted off on every one of these shows.
- 9:46Speaker 2: And I know that, but I think it's kind of
- 9:49Speaker 2: interesting when you're watching a bunch of people who are
- 9:52Speaker 2: all from the same environment get into this room and
- 9:55Speaker 2: start trying to get their opinions out. And I mean
- 9:59Speaker 2: I was watching you sit there and finally you're like enough,
- 10:03Speaker 2: you know, here's we got to choose the paint. The
- 10:07Speaker 2: frustration was was palatable.
- 10:10Speaker 4: Hey, if I had uttered what I was thinking the
- 10:13Speaker 4: editors would have had a grand time. They no unemployment
- 10:17Speaker 4: for them, They cutting, cutting, cutting.
- 10:21Speaker 1: That's hilarious.
- 10:33Speaker 2: Did you feel like as that vote was coming through,
- 10:36Speaker 2: were you kind of like feeling like I might be
- 10:39Speaker 2: on the chopping block here because no one will let
- 10:41Speaker 2: me get a word in as wise?
- 10:42Speaker 1: Were you feeling that way?
- 10:44Speaker 4: Well, like I say, I felt that when Jill introduced
- 10:46Speaker 4: the fate card, I thought, Okay, I'm in trouble because, yeah,
- 10:49Speaker 4: no one knows I can design, not anyone there. No
- 10:53Speaker 4: one on TV is ever going to know that I
- 10:54Speaker 4: have some design background, and but they would know it.
- 10:59Speaker 4: And I knew whether there was alliances or friendships or
- 11:03Speaker 4: former friendships that are like some of the I think
- 11:06Speaker 4: a couple of scales were even on the same season together,
- 11:08Speaker 4: if I'm not mistaken. Not only that they're all in
- 11:11Speaker 4: the same age range, so they have an automatic bond
- 11:15Speaker 4: something that I couldn't possibly have with them.
- 11:18Speaker 2: So yeah, but I mean, you and Joan had each other,
- 11:21Speaker 2: which was nice. But I mean, obviously you know we
- 11:24Speaker 2: saw that Joan voted for Jill.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Correct, Well, I didn't see who you voted for.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Uh, well, no you didn't, because they didn't show that part.
- 11:31Speaker 4: And literally, when I voted for this person, it wasn't
- 11:34Speaker 4: about design.
- 11:34Speaker 3: It wasn't.
- 11:35Speaker 4: It was because I had heard that she was missing
- 11:38Speaker 4: her children, and when I said that to the camera,
- 11:40Speaker 4: I voted for Courtney. But it wasn't about design or
- 11:43Speaker 4: lack of It was about she was missing her babies,
- 11:46Speaker 4: and I was thinking that babies were missing her and
- 11:48Speaker 4: she wanted to And because we had no design, what
- 11:56Speaker 4: am I trying to say? There was no impetus for design.
- 11:59Speaker 4: I couldn't choose to vote off anyone that made sense
- 12:03Speaker 4: to me.
- 12:04Speaker 1: So that was your rationale, which I think is kind.
- 12:06Speaker 1: That's sweet.
- 12:07Speaker 3: I was trying to be kind. I wasn't trying to
- 12:09Speaker 3: vote someone off because they couldn't design.
- 12:11Speaker 1: Who right?
- 12:12Speaker 3: Who knew?
- 12:13Speaker 2: Well, we don't even know yet, right, we don't even
- 12:14Speaker 2: know who good design and dog on it.
- 12:16Speaker 4: I've been an HGTV or four years, so I surely
- 12:21Speaker 4: thought this was going to be about design and not
- 12:23Speaker 4: about who's popular, Whose voice is louder, who's who's who's richer?
- 12:29Speaker 1: I don't know whah yeah, no, that's a bomber.
- 12:32Speaker 2: We didn't get to see some of your design work,
- 12:34Speaker 2: But who knows, maybe we will. You know, there's still
- 12:36Speaker 2: time they might bring you back and do something else
- 12:39Speaker 2: with you.
- 12:39Speaker 1: I mean, that's that seems to be the way it
- 12:41Speaker 1: goes lately.
- 12:42Speaker 2: I mean, I love I love seeing some of my
- 12:44Speaker 2: favorite people up on the screen again. I love Dean
- 12:46Speaker 2: and getting to see Dean up there, and and even
- 12:49Speaker 2: getting to see his his big bright blue wall or
- 12:53Speaker 2: a big bright blue ceiling rather come through.
- 12:54Speaker 1: What did you think of that? What did you think
- 12:56Speaker 1: of the guy's room and the girls room?
- 12:58Speaker 4: Well, I thought the blue ceiling didn't bother me. I
- 13:02Speaker 4: just they didn't have any more tie in other than
- 13:04Speaker 4: those ladders. I think they needed to repeat it the
- 13:07Speaker 4: blue or had some other elements that would tie it
- 13:12Speaker 4: all in together.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Right now.
- 13:14Speaker 4: The other room, I forgot what it was called. The
- 13:18Speaker 4: other guy's room had.
- 13:20Speaker 1: Ye, the Tuscany, the Tuscan room.
- 13:22Speaker 3: Yeah, Sanderini was bright and happy and the Santorini was
- 13:28Speaker 3: just the opposite.
- 13:29Speaker 4: It was dim, and it was the kind of room
- 13:33Speaker 4: where you could go and reflect, read.
- 13:36Speaker 3: Or drink your wine. Where Santorini was bright and happy.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Let's let the let's go and let's get the makeup
- 13:42Speaker 4: on or whatever.
- 13:43Speaker 2: So yeah, what did you think of the Ladies Room?
- 13:46Speaker 2: I mean, you know you obviously had a hand in
- 13:48Speaker 2: that to a certain degree. I know you weren't there
- 13:50Speaker 2: for the final final, But what did you think of
- 13:52Speaker 2: the Ladies room and what they came up with? I mean,
- 13:53Speaker 2: they ended up winning the competition.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought they did a damn fine job. I
- 13:57Speaker 3: really did. I liked what they put together, and I
- 14:01Speaker 3: thought they tied the wall color.
- 14:04Speaker 4: In with the curtains, and we wrestled a lot with
- 14:08Speaker 4: the which you didn't see. We wrestled a lot with
- 14:10Speaker 4: the with the fireplace being there and how to incorporated
- 14:14Speaker 4: with that element that was going to stay. They couldn't
- 14:16Speaker 4: tear the fireplace down, but they did. They did a
- 14:20Speaker 4: great job in the end.
- 14:21Speaker 3: I liked it.
- 14:22Speaker 4: I liked the middle of the room where they had
- 14:25Speaker 4: the seating where you could relax, They had the makeup side,
- 14:28Speaker 4: they had They even talked about having room for suitcase
- 14:32Speaker 4: or luggage underneath there because those rooms were so lacking
- 14:37Speaker 4: in floor space for all the luggage that all the
- 14:40Speaker 4: people had.
- 14:41Speaker 2: It is sure, Yeah, I can imagine that had to
- 14:44Speaker 2: be kind of one of those things where, you know,
- 14:46Speaker 2: a lot of the stuff that we don't see right
- 14:49Speaker 2: at home, but you, having lived there for a period
- 14:52Speaker 2: of time, you kind of knew the functionality of the space,
- 14:55Speaker 2: probably more so than anybody.
- 14:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not good.
- 14:58Speaker 3: It was.
- 14:58Speaker 2: Yeah, for such a big house, it seemed to have
- 15:00Speaker 2: a lot of unusable space. You know, not much you
- 15:03Speaker 2: can do on that. And four it is there, I go, yeah, yeah,
- 15:08Speaker 2: for sure. I thought the bunk beds all look pretty nice.
- 15:11Speaker 3: I did.
- 15:11Speaker 4: I thought the finish, the fluted finish they chose, we
- 15:14Speaker 4: chose because I was part of that, I thought that
- 15:17Speaker 4: was great. It just gave some character to the bed
- 15:20Speaker 4: something to look at. I mean, beds y honor, but
- 15:23Speaker 4: when you dressed them up with the with the with
- 15:26Speaker 4: the fluted wood and all that, it just just gave
- 15:28Speaker 4: it an element of.
- 15:32Speaker 3: It just looked good.
- 15:33Speaker 4: Felt like you wanted to dive into one of those beds,
- 15:35Speaker 4: shut those curtains and.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Enjoy it, right you noticed.
- 15:40Speaker 2: I did not with our good friend Joan on the
- 15:45Speaker 2: day too of the of the thing, when she said,
- 15:47Speaker 2: you know, I feel like there's some some voices that
- 15:50Speaker 2: need to be heard, that aren't aren't being given enough
- 15:54Speaker 2: attention and respect, and we need to do that. And
- 15:57Speaker 2: I knew that was about you, right, I mean, I
- 15:58Speaker 2: think I think everybody home knows that, right.
- 16:01Speaker 3: I thought it was about me. I never asked her,
- 16:03Speaker 3: but I thought it was.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Oh, I wondered if maybe you guys had talked about
- 16:07Speaker 2: it or something that that's that's really cool that you
- 16:09Speaker 2: hadn't and.
- 16:10Speaker 3: It talked about it.
- 16:11Speaker 4: But you know, Jones a sweetheart, and Joe and I
- 16:13Speaker 4: had a friendship before the show. She might have indicated
- 16:17Speaker 4: I think that we had. She and I were bunk mates.
- 16:19Speaker 4: She was above and I was below, and so we had.
- 16:23Speaker 4: She wasn't on our show very long, as you know,
- 16:25Speaker 4: but we there was a respect we had for one another.
- 16:29Speaker 3: And I think she was speaking up on.
- 16:31Speaker 4: My behalf and I just wanted to kiss her and
- 16:34Speaker 4: hugger and I love.
- 16:36Speaker 2: J When we were all in Carmel last year together,
- 16:39Speaker 2: she even brought up how much she loved you and
- 16:41Speaker 2: and just you know, so I thought it was really
- 16:44Speaker 2: fitting that the two of you were on the show together,
- 16:46Speaker 2: and I just I just wish it would have lasted
- 16:47Speaker 2: longer for our viewership at home. Now. I will say this,
- 16:50Speaker 2: your cast photo, I thought was pretty awesome.
- 16:53Speaker 1: I love seeing it. It said power tool confidence. Hi, yes, yes,
- 16:59Speaker 1: and I did see uh in.
- 17:01Speaker 2: Some of the b roll I saw you you had
- 17:04Speaker 2: the drill out. I think you had the power the
- 17:06Speaker 2: you know, the screw drive, the power screwdriver. What was
- 17:08Speaker 2: your favorite power tool that you used on on the
- 17:10Speaker 2: side of the show.
- 17:11Speaker 4: Well, on the set, uh, just just the table saw. Okay,
- 17:17Speaker 4: but at home, I mean my garage. Now, I've got
- 17:20Speaker 4: a lot of tools because I've done I've done a
- 17:22Speaker 4: lot of work.
- 17:23Speaker 3: I'm not a crafting with wood and that kind of thing.
- 17:25Speaker 4: And yeah, furniture, I don't want to call it restoration,
- 17:29Speaker 4: but changing some furniture around and care or air B
- 17:34Speaker 4: and B.
- 17:34Speaker 3: So I have power tools, love them.
- 17:36Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I will tell you. I was building my
- 17:43Speaker 2: son's Pinewood Derby car and uh, we we weren't using
- 17:48Speaker 2: power tools at first, and then uh when we came
- 17:50Speaker 2: down the eleventh hour, I was like, we got to
- 17:52Speaker 2: do it, power sander.
- 17:53Speaker 1: We did the whole bit. He was very, very excited.
- 17:55Speaker 2: He didn't get to He's only seven, as you know,
- 17:57Speaker 2: so he didn't really get to dig in too much.
- 17:59Speaker 1: But yeah, I thought that was a good time.
- 18:02Speaker 2: Now, Okay, so you have your history as a real
- 18:05Speaker 2: estate agent, so you kind of know, you know, where
- 18:09Speaker 2: do you think when you put a house on the
- 18:11Speaker 2: market and you you kind of walk through it, you're
- 18:13Speaker 2: evaluating it. Where do you think people get the biggest
- 18:17Speaker 2: bang for their buck if they're going to spend some
- 18:19Speaker 2: time doing a little updating, a little renovating. I mean,
- 18:23Speaker 2: obviously the bedrooms were a big play in the mansion
- 18:25Speaker 2: because that's where you know, so many people have to stay.
- 18:27Speaker 2: But when you're looking at a house, is it is
- 18:30Speaker 2: it always kitchens and bathrooms? Is it still kitchens and bathrooms?
- 18:33Speaker 3: Still kitchens and bathrooms?
- 18:35Speaker 4: That will probably never change because one there's the most
- 18:38Speaker 4: expensive elements to change or rehab or remodel to it.
- 18:43Speaker 4: It's people spend a lot of time in the kitchen.
- 18:46Speaker 3: Kitchens. It's sort of the heart of the home typically
- 18:48Speaker 3: it is. Yeah, so yeah, kitchens and baths.
- 18:53Speaker 2: And what do you think on the opposite end, what
- 18:54Speaker 2: do you think people spend money and time on that
- 18:56Speaker 2: actually have a negative impact or or a zero impact
- 18:59Speaker 2: that all, and they're thinking it should make a huge difference.
- 19:02Speaker 1: You know, Like a lot of.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Times I've heard people say, oh, well, you know, the
- 19:05Speaker 2: last thing you want to do is spend a bunch
- 19:07Speaker 2: of money landscape in your home before you're going to
- 19:09Speaker 2: sell it or whatever.
- 19:10Speaker 1: But I'm like, well, what about the curb appeal? Right?
- 19:12Speaker 1: So so what do you think about that? Like where
- 19:14Speaker 1: can people waste their money?
- 19:16Speaker 4: That's point we'll take in the homes. Every home does
- 19:19Speaker 4: need curb appeal because driving up, seeing and comparing it
- 19:22Speaker 4: with the neighborhood and all that. It's very important. But again,
- 19:26Speaker 4: you don't need to spend it a whole lot of time.
- 19:27Speaker 4: It's it's you know, for every dollar you spend on landscaping,
- 19:31Speaker 4: you're probably not getting.
- 19:32Speaker 1: That back, right, It's not a dollar for dollar exchange,
- 19:35Speaker 1: right right.
- 19:35Speaker 4: Yeah, market appeal is different than market value. So but
- 19:39Speaker 4: you want a property to appeal that doesn't necessarily increase
- 19:43Speaker 4: the value or diminish the value.
- 19:44Speaker 1: But right, yeah, no, I like that. Now, Okay, one
- 20:00Speaker 1: more thing for you.
- 20:01Speaker 2: Obviously you do a lot of work yourself with your
- 20:03Speaker 2: your airbnbs and stuff like that. What do you think
- 20:06Speaker 2: is one of those just absolute musts that ad I
- 20:11Speaker 2: Y woman should know? Right?
- 20:14Speaker 1: What should she know? How is it building furniture? Is
- 20:18Speaker 1: it hanging pictures? Level? Is it changing the light bulb?
- 20:21Speaker 2: Like, what do you think are a couple of things
- 20:23Speaker 2: you know that that a DIY person, especially when it's
- 20:26Speaker 2: a woman, needs to pay attention to and needs to
- 20:28Speaker 2: make sure they know how to do.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Okay, well again, power tools, If I think so.
- 20:33Speaker 4: You don't have to call a guy, or you do
- 20:37Speaker 4: to call a neighbor, or you don't have to call
- 20:38Speaker 4: a professional, need to need to learn how to use
- 20:41Speaker 4: the power tools. And fortunately we have this thing called
- 20:44Speaker 4: www and you can learn anything on the web. You
- 20:48Speaker 4: don't need a class or any structure. You go on
- 20:51Speaker 4: the web and you can learn how to use a drill,
- 20:54Speaker 4: or you learn about drill bits and drivers and wrenches
- 20:59Speaker 4: and you, I mean, can learn about all this stuff.
- 21:01Speaker 4: And then if you're lucky enough to have power tools
- 21:04Speaker 4: not have to rent them, then you can use them
- 21:07Speaker 4: and try them out, do practice, run, practice building something.
- 21:12Speaker 4: Whether it comes out like stupid or not, you've got
- 21:16Speaker 4: to practice with those tools. So I would that's what
- 21:18Speaker 4: I would say, power tools.
- 21:20Speaker 1: I like it. I like it, okay good.
- 21:22Speaker 4: The other thing is just safety, being aware of safety.
- 21:27Speaker 4: We're in goggles, gloves, helmet, you're just being safe.
- 21:33Speaker 1: In the past, I've been an anti goggle guy.
- 21:35Speaker 2: But I will tell you that most recently, with my
- 21:38Speaker 2: Pinewood Derby experiment, I decided I should probably throw on
- 21:41Speaker 2: some goggles to give a good example to my children.
- 21:43Speaker 2: So I'm with you on the goggle tip. I'm with
- 21:46Speaker 2: you on that. I think it's important, you know. I mean,
- 21:48Speaker 2: at the end of the day, I think ultimately for us,
- 21:51Speaker 2: you know, you got to look at it from the
- 21:52Speaker 2: standpoint of we're both in that golden era of.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Life, you know, I mean golden anything.
- 21:59Speaker 1: I am to five fifty five this year, that's golden, okay.
- 22:03Speaker 4: My daughter's fifty three and she I don't consider her golden.
- 22:07Speaker 2: Okay, Young Bud, thank you, Thank you by Fred.
- 22:12Speaker 1: I love that.
- 22:13Speaker 4: But can I can I say this while you're on
- 22:15Speaker 4: that subject, let me just say, HGTV, if you do
- 22:18Speaker 4: this again, you need more goldens.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Three was not enough.
- 22:22Speaker 1: It's not fair.
- 22:24Speaker 3: You needed more goldens, all right, I golding them.
- 22:27Speaker 1: But that's okay.
- 22:28Speaker 2: No, I think that's good, especially when you're talking about
- 22:30Speaker 2: you know, I mean, you're right. There is this natural
- 22:33Speaker 2: inclination I think for for the younger people to kind
- 22:38Speaker 2: of group together, especially if they've been roommates on the
- 22:41Speaker 2: show or whatever, or they've run into each other at
- 22:44Speaker 2: the you know, the million different things that happen they
- 22:47Speaker 2: might have, you know, friendships or bias.
- 22:49Speaker 1: That they have.
- 22:50Speaker 2: You know, right there, I thought that's human. Yeah, I
- 22:54Speaker 2: will tell you I'm not. I can't remember what guy
- 22:56Speaker 2: it was when he was casting his vote, but he said, uh,
- 23:00Speaker 2: I'm not voting for Chris. I'm not going to vote
- 23:02Speaker 2: for a guy who spent his whole afternoon building a
- 23:06Speaker 2: table or whatever, building a desk. I'm not voting that
- 23:08Speaker 2: guy off. So I'm voting this guy off. And I
- 23:10Speaker 2: can't remember who it was he voted for or who
- 23:12Speaker 2: the guy even was. Frankly, but you know me, I'm not.
- 23:15Speaker 2: I'm not that astute all the time.
- 23:17Speaker 1: But I'm trying. I'm trying to. But now that you're
- 23:20Speaker 1: out of the running of the show.
- 23:21Speaker 2: If you had to look at it from the standpoint
- 23:23Speaker 2: of everyone that's left, who would you who would you
- 23:26Speaker 2: want to see as the last guy, and who would
- 23:29Speaker 2: you want to see as the last lady?
- 23:32Speaker 3: Who would I want to see or who do I
- 23:34Speaker 3: think would prevail?
- 23:35Speaker 1: What would how about that? Who do you think who
- 23:37Speaker 1: do you think should be the last guy? And the
- 23:40Speaker 1: last lady.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Okay, just from the minimal conversations I had with some
- 23:45Speaker 4: of the guys, and they were all very respectful, all gentlemen.
- 23:49Speaker 4: They were you know, if I could have a son,
- 23:51Speaker 4: I would have taken anyone up them. But I think
- 23:54Speaker 4: Dean and I think Noah.
- 23:57Speaker 3: Somehow, to me, they were.
- 23:58Speaker 4: The most mature of the youngsters. They just sure the
- 24:03Speaker 4: right focus and the right family background. Even yeah, do
- 24:08Speaker 4: not as much as Noah, but but somehow. Now with
- 24:10Speaker 4: the gals, uh, I guess I want to say Ali
- 24:16Speaker 4: and j V Joan. I call her j simply because
- 24:22Speaker 4: listening to them, they their backgrounds were probably a little
- 24:24Speaker 4: more suited to designing decor finished the finished look, not
- 24:29Speaker 4: so much the power tools, but the finish.
- 24:31Speaker 2: Okay and Ali, So we have gouys. I'm trying to
- 24:35Speaker 2: think which Ali is?
- 24:36Speaker 3: Alicia?
- 24:37Speaker 1: Oh, Alicia? Oh? Okay, I didn't know you called her Ali. Okay,
- 24:40Speaker 1: that's perfect. That's what I was.
- 24:42Speaker 2: I was feeling like she was really in a in
- 24:46Speaker 2: a nice way, trying to sort of take the lead
- 24:50Speaker 2: and and and you know, and I thought I thought
- 24:52Speaker 2: that in the at least in the initial episode there
- 24:55Speaker 2: when she and Joan were kind of and I think
- 24:58Speaker 2: you were there too. I think you guys will have
- 25:00Speaker 2: the last one stand there and the other two took
- 25:02Speaker 2: off right, and you guys were like, you know, we
- 25:05Speaker 2: guess we don't want to lose this challenge. It's important,
- 25:07Speaker 2: but if we got this time, let's use it. And
- 25:09Speaker 2: I thought that was a pretty good way to look
- 25:11Speaker 2: at it because there was such limited time.
- 25:13Speaker 1: I mean, it was crazy limited time, limited budget.
- 25:15Speaker 2: I think Chris said that it's like the last thing,
- 25:17Speaker 2: you know, we can do is get in front of
- 25:19Speaker 2: us or getting the way of ourselves getting this over
- 25:21Speaker 2: the finish line.
- 25:22Speaker 1: So I thought that was pretty good advice.
- 25:24Speaker 4: So we could be in our own way, and I
- 25:26Speaker 4: think we were. They won, thank god, But I think
- 25:28Speaker 4: there was so much time we were in our own way. Yeah, yeah, so,
- 25:34Speaker 4: but the outcome obviously was great. I'm proud of the
- 25:37Speaker 4: young ladies. I'm proud of every one of them because
- 25:39Speaker 4: I think Taylor Frankie.
- 25:40Speaker 3: Paul is that her name killer. I think the guys.
- 25:43Speaker 4: Would be really appreciative of that primary bedroom and how
- 25:47Speaker 4: it wound up looking.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Yeah, I forgot they're going to be the ones right
- 25:51Speaker 1: in there.
- 25:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I think they might have moved in a day
- 25:54Speaker 4: or two after after the show was finished.
- 25:57Speaker 2: No kidding, Well, let's hope that paint was drying, right, So, okay,
- 26:04Speaker 2: shifting gears just a little bit here.
- 26:05Speaker 1: So you obviously.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Everyone got to know you from a you call it
- 26:09Speaker 2: GB one y right, So Andre, your sister Andre was
- 26:14Speaker 2: on GB two, correct with mel And I'm curious, how
- 26:18Speaker 2: is she doing and how are the two of you?
- 26:20Speaker 1: Are you guys like setting up double dates?
- 26:22Speaker 4: What's going on with Unfortunately she lives in California. I'm
- 26:26Speaker 4: in Atlanta, so the best we do is online or
- 26:30Speaker 4: on the phone and can't quite set up dates. But
- 26:33Speaker 4: you know, it's funny because her daughter and my daughters
- 26:36Speaker 4: all get together and they talk about their moms and
- 26:41Speaker 4: that kind of thing.
- 26:41Speaker 3: So they have fun with it. They've got street grid
- 26:44Speaker 3: with their.
- 26:45Speaker 4: Friends and yeah, yeah, kind of like a big family
- 26:49Speaker 4: affair if you will, Yeah, yeah.
- 26:52Speaker 1: I would say so for sure.
- 26:53Speaker 2: Well, I would love to see the two of you
- 26:56Speaker 2: do some type of fun thing, you know, in the
- 26:58Speaker 2: future with the Golden series where maybe the two of
- 27:00Speaker 2: you are doing the picking.
- 27:02Speaker 3: Yeah, hey, hey, can you can you can you point
- 27:06Speaker 3: that out? The powers that be can pit them?
- 27:10Speaker 1: I will I'm gonna bring it to him, and while.
- 27:12Speaker 4: You're at it, pitch the fact that the next time
- 27:15Speaker 4: they need more goldens.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Always the world is better having more goldens. That's how
- 27:20Speaker 2: I feel. Yeah, you know, I feel like girl is
- 27:23Speaker 2: always better. How do you good for you to see
- 27:24Speaker 2: your boy Jesse Palmer again.
- 27:26Speaker 4: JP, Well, I see Jesse all over. I see him
- 27:30Speaker 4: at football game. I see him doing color at the
- 27:32Speaker 4: football games. I see him down here in this market.
- 27:34Speaker 4: He pitches for rooms to go, and there's some other
- 27:37Speaker 4: products he's doing.
- 27:38Speaker 3: Jesse is everywhere.
- 27:40Speaker 1: Yeah, he's a busy man. He's good at what he does.
- 27:44Speaker 3: He's so likable. He's he's he's just got that something
- 27:49Speaker 3: that it's syllable. He's got.
- 27:52Speaker 2: Well, he's a pretty good quarterback back in the day too.
- 27:54Speaker 2: So I gotta be honest with you.
- 27:55Speaker 4: I never give him that credit on there from being
- 28:00Speaker 4: in the practice squad of the Patriots. Girl, And you know,
- 28:04Speaker 4: you know I love my football.
- 28:07Speaker 1: I know you do. Yeah, Sandra, Well, I love you.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Thank you for being on it. Thanks for coming on
- 28:12Speaker 2: and sharing your experience with us. I really appreciate it.
- 28:15Speaker 2: I think I think it's a good show. The only
- 28:18Speaker 2: thing they missed out on is that they don't have
- 28:20Speaker 2: you on there a little bit longer.
- 28:21Speaker 3: If you're asking me, aren't you a sweetheart? Thank you?
- 28:24Speaker 3: Thank you for that. I don't disagree.
- 28:27Speaker 2: Well, thank you again for being here, thanks for sharing
- 28:29Speaker 2: your experience with us, and we'll hope to see you
- 28:31Speaker 2: again really soon.
- 28:32Speaker 3: All right, sweetie, bye bye, take care.
- 28:35Speaker 2: Bachelor Man should take over airs on Monday nights at
- 28:37Speaker 2: eight pm and HGTV, and each new episode will be
- 28:39Speaker 2: available to stream the next day on HBO Max and
- 28:42Speaker 2: Discovery Plus.
