- 0:02What is going on, everybody?
- 0:04Today,
- 0:05we're going to talk a little bit about
- 0:06CrossFit.
- 0:08Maybe.
- 0:30From the gym to the screen, yeah,
- 0:32we cover it all.
- 0:33Midday motivation every time you press
- 0:35call.
- 0:35Lunch with the Clydesdale.
- 0:38Cowboy bring the heat.
- 0:40Crossfit, boobies, music on repeat.
- 0:43Half hour hustle, yeah,
- 0:44we building that brand.
- 0:46Grab a plate, tune in now,
- 0:48you part of the fam.
- 0:53It's lunch time.
- 0:57Sure enough.
- 1:00What's going on, everybody?
- 1:02Welcome to Lunch with the Clydesdale and
- 1:04the Cowboy.
- 1:05We are heading into the weekend.
- 1:07It's a Friday.
- 1:09Thank you so much, Amanda,
- 1:10for bringing up that we are on episode
- 1:12fourteen hundred.
- 1:14This is the episode one hundred
- 1:17extravaganza.
- 1:18In case y'all were wondering like this,
- 1:20we had this plan the entire week since
- 1:22I forgot it was until Amanda put it
- 1:24in the chat.
- 1:25Yeah.
- 1:30Just so you know,
- 1:31like it was never my intention to like
- 1:33number every episode.
- 1:36And in fact,
- 1:37there were a bunch of episodes early on
- 1:39that we didn't number.
- 1:40If it wasn't like a normal show,
- 1:43we didn't number them.
- 1:44Right.
- 1:45So truly,
- 1:47because the one year we did the semifinal
- 1:49interviews,
- 1:50there was a hundred and eleven of them.
- 1:52The first year we did that,
- 1:53none of those are numbered.
- 1:54Yeah.
- 1:55So we're truly like up over fifteen
- 1:58hundred, sixteen hundred,
- 2:00somewhere in that.
- 2:02And
- 2:05And the only reason I number them today
- 2:08is because people will ask me where,
- 2:13what episode was that in?
- 2:15Yeah.
- 2:16And it's so much easier for me to
- 2:17say, oh,
- 2:19that was episode thirteen hundred and
- 2:21twenty.
- 2:23Then, you know,
- 2:24the one with this picture on the thing
- 2:27and whatever.
- 2:30So that's the only reason I truly number
- 2:32them anymore.
- 2:34because other than that it doesn't really
- 2:36mean a lot because it's not an accurate
- 2:39number well even if it was an accurate
- 2:42number like we're not stopping at any
- 2:44given point so like why would you care
- 2:47about what number you're on until that day
- 2:49comes and you can look back and go
- 2:50oh we did you know forty thousand episodes
- 2:54or whatever the case may be
- 2:55So I remember when we hit one hundred,
- 2:58like we had balloons,
- 2:59we had like the whole bit made a
- 3:02cake.
- 3:03Right.
- 3:05And I don't think we celebrated any other
- 3:06number after that.
- 3:07No.
- 3:08Why would you?
- 3:12And so it is pretty cool.
- 3:14Like when I started this thing,
- 3:16I never thought I would get fourteen
- 3:19hundred episodes in.
- 3:20Well, you don't see that far ahead.
- 3:21You worry about this one.
- 3:24and then the next one that's about it
- 3:26and maybe you got maybe a couple you
- 3:28might have scheduled sometime in the
- 3:29future but you don't you don't set into
- 3:31this going we're gonna do two thousand
- 3:33episodes let's go like or or do what
- 3:37what uh what hillary did and like i'm
- 3:38gonna make a video today every day for
- 3:42three hundred and sixty five days can i
- 3:44just say that isn't that is an impossible
- 3:48task the fact that he pulled that off
- 3:51That's ridiculous.
- 3:53I mean,
- 3:54I do a show six days a week,
- 3:58and I've missed some,
- 3:59but even six days a week has been
- 4:02brutal at times.
- 4:04And yours was six days a week live.
- 4:08He did six days a week,
- 4:09seven days a week post-production,
- 4:11like putting stuff together and adding in
- 4:14clips and graphics and all that other good
- 4:16stuff.
- 4:17That is ridiculously impressive.
- 4:21Yeah.
- 4:21I remember when I first went to a
- 4:22daily show,
- 4:23I was talking to Sivan and like,
- 4:25I was like,
- 4:26I didn't realize how hard it was to
- 4:29have something new to say every single
- 4:32day.
- 4:35Ricky Bobby after he won the race.
- 4:37Car ran pretty good.
- 4:38Yeah.
- 4:40Car ran pretty good.
- 4:44Like you actually get into the hang of
- 4:45it.
- 4:45Like it's a whole different world.
- 4:47Absolutely.
- 4:50Meg says, Amanda,
- 4:51they must not realize that we are the
- 4:53ones that matter.
- 4:53So let us have this moment.
- 4:55You have the moment.
- 4:58You can feel this moment if you want
- 4:59to.
- 5:04Sean in Oregon says that's eighty four
- 5:06thousand hours.
- 5:08Crazy.
- 5:10Well, ten thousand hours is mastery,
- 5:12so we should be well above that at
- 5:14this point.
- 5:18Oh man,
- 5:19I can talk about anything to no end.
- 5:20Well, honestly, you know,
- 5:23CrossFitters talk about CrossFit all the
- 5:25time, right?
- 5:27We just put it on air.
- 5:28Yeah.
- 5:30oh dude i'm leaving pt this morning and
- 5:34madeline the girl at the at the desk
- 5:35there's a reception and whatnot was like i
- 5:39said something about coming to my gym said
- 5:40you have a gym i said what's not
- 5:42my gym but i coach there you know
- 5:43whatever and she's like what i said it's
- 5:45crossfit well what's crossfit and i
- 5:47literally gave her the definitions
- 5:48constantly varied functional movements
- 5:50executed high intensity i said you know
- 5:52whatever
- 5:54Tell me, I said,
- 5:56I don't have time to tell you about
- 6:00it.
- 6:00I don't think you understand.
- 6:02I have to go to work.
- 6:02I can tell you about it.
- 6:03I would be here all day and neither
- 6:05one of us would get anything done.
- 6:08So like,
- 6:08here's the quick and dirty version.
- 6:10This is when I coach.
- 6:11Come check out a class.
- 6:13Let's go.
- 6:15Amanda,
- 6:15it's impressive AF and we care like Meg
- 6:18says.
- 6:21And honestly, man.
- 6:24I am proud when I started this thing
- 6:27in night, the audio only with two friends,
- 6:35we,
- 6:35we had like our parents listened and that
- 6:37was it.
- 6:37Hey, I was actually one of the,
- 6:39I listened to a lot of those early
- 6:41episodes when I found them on, um,
- 6:43Apple podcast, because it was,
- 6:47there was a whole lot of one of
- 6:48the six.
- 6:49Well, here's the thing.
- 6:50It was not a whole lot of stuff.
- 6:52available to just listen to.
- 6:55So like I was listening to chasing
- 6:57excellence.
- 6:58I was listening to the CrossFit podcast.
- 7:00I was listening to, uh,
- 7:02scale as needed and whatnot.
- 7:03And then, you know,
- 7:04you search CrossFit and y'all's came up.
- 7:06So like,
- 7:07I listened to that because it was there
- 7:08and I was like, the closet,
- 7:09I was like, that's a cool last name.
- 7:11Let's check this out.
- 7:11And that's,
- 7:12I really did listen to those early ones.
- 7:14Yeah.
- 7:16Those were fun times.
- 7:19it's i didn't mean for this to because
- 7:21again i didn't even i forgot it was
- 7:23fourteen hundred until amanda said
- 7:26something in the chat um but it is
- 7:28pretty cool like and maybe we'll do
- 7:30something special at fifteen hundred oh
- 7:33yeah balloons in a cake yeah maybe a
- 7:37giveaway or something we could get away
- 7:39you know it'd be fun to give away
- 7:43Thirdsy.
- 7:44Thirdsy?
- 7:45Thirdsy.
- 7:45Yeah.
- 7:46Could talk to Thirdsy.
- 7:47See if they'd be jazzy about doing a
- 7:49little giveaway at fifteen hundred.
- 7:51Because you can be jazzy too at checkout
- 7:53and get fifteen percent off Thirdsy right
- 7:55now.
- 7:58So there it is.
- 8:00Gotta love it.
- 8:05Wait.
- 8:05Hold on.
- 8:06Clydesdale is the last name.
- 8:07Yes.
- 8:08His name is Scott Clydesdale.
- 8:10One hundred percent.
- 8:11Just roll what it is.
- 8:13sure sure name is scott claudio my my
- 8:18name is uh my last name is actually
- 8:20arabian horse i was gonna say boy george
- 8:28but okay we'll go arabian horse yeah um
- 8:32uh kenneth wants us to bring back the
- 8:33hot ones challenge that was a fun day
- 8:37for me the original hot ones challenge lit
- 8:41me the hell up it was
- 8:44Yeah.
- 8:46Oh, yeah.
- 8:47Sure, Judy.
- 8:47Games tickets.
- 8:48We'll get right on that.
- 8:49Says the person who won games tickets last
- 8:52year from this show.
- 8:56She's like, she wants to repeat.
- 8:58She wants to run it back again.
- 9:01That's fantastic.
- 9:02Yeah.
- 9:02Scott's got cause they all Corey Cowboy.
- 9:06Yep.
- 9:07Yep.
- 9:07These are that's on our driver's license.
- 9:10Cowboy and Scott Clydesdale.
- 9:13It's actually in my wallet.
- 9:19Yeah.
- 9:19Ernie Garza, Corey Mustang.
- 9:21That's hilarious because my high school
- 9:23mascot is or the Mustangs.
- 9:26Assumption Mustangs.
- 9:28Yeah, our mind was really creative.
- 9:30We were the Oilers, the Oil City Oilers.
- 9:33The Oil City Oilers.
- 9:36yeah julia gulia yeah yeah so i was
- 9:45listening to the colton episode of
- 9:47savannah yesterday last evening actually
- 9:51and he brought up a question i think
- 9:53it was to caleb about who are the
- 9:55three people you want to see at the
- 9:56games
- 9:58That haven't made it yet or just in
- 10:00Europe?
- 10:01Just not even athlete-wise.
- 10:03Oh, okay.
- 10:04Anybody that you could possibly run into
- 10:08at the games,
- 10:09who are the three people you want to
- 10:10see most?
- 10:13I can't even narrow it down.
- 10:15So this is just like anybody in the
- 10:17space?
- 10:18Is that what they were talking about?
- 10:19I didn't get to see the Colton episode
- 10:20at all.
- 10:20Like Joseph and Meg are going to be
- 10:22at the games.
- 10:23I want to see them.
- 10:25A hundred percent.
- 10:25Right?
- 10:26Yeah.
- 10:27Amanda Harry's going to be at the games.
- 10:28I want to see her.
- 10:30We hang out at the games every single
- 10:32year.
- 10:32Gotcha.
- 10:35If I was gone,
- 10:36I'd want to see you because I haven't
- 10:37seen you in three years.
- 10:40Yeah.
- 10:40I mean,
- 10:40the fact that we hang out all day
- 10:41long, like every day, it's not the same.
- 10:47Wow.
- 10:49And I only get a picture.
- 10:51That's a good question, Tigger.
- 10:52Oh, wow.
- 10:56am I getting to hang out or just
- 10:58run across?
- 10:59I guess that's,
- 10:59that's probably a good question too.
- 11:00Well, it was, it was very open-ended.
- 11:04It was like,
- 11:04who are the people you want to see
- 11:07at the games?
- 11:08And like Siobhan said, like Taylor and,
- 11:13and then he listed a couple of people
- 11:14that he hasn't seen in a while or
- 11:16that he only runs into like at the
- 11:18games.
- 11:19Yeah.
- 11:20So I would like to see some of
- 11:21the other people that are in,
- 11:24like the my my my master's crew that
- 11:27i run across actually at the games uh
- 11:30my boy chris real who just uh made
- 11:33it i would like to hang out with
- 11:34see andrew johnson again oh excuse me
- 11:39david johnson david johnson i don't know
- 11:41why i just named him andrew he still
- 11:43thinks i'm six feet tall so it's fine
- 11:44um
- 11:46I would love to see those guys again
- 11:48because they'd be there,
- 11:49they'd be competing,
- 11:50and I could be there and throw in
- 11:53support out as much as possible.
- 11:54But just narrowing it down to three,
- 11:57that for me would be extremely difficult
- 11:59because there's a lot of people I know
- 12:00that are probably going to be there that
- 12:01I would love to go and be able
- 12:02to see and hang out with.
- 12:05Andrew Sten's going to be spectating at
- 12:06the games over the weekend for the first
- 12:08time since twenty sixteen.
- 12:11And I'm guessing it's because he's judging
- 12:13Masters.
- 12:15Yeah.
- 12:17Every time I see Stan, he's judging.
- 12:19So like we never get to like hang
- 12:20out.
- 12:22I love running into Andrew.
- 12:24And he only like,
- 12:25he lives in my state.
- 12:27Right.
- 12:28Right.
- 12:29Yeah.
- 12:29Joseph, Meg.
- 12:31I already said Joseph.
- 12:32He just said he's going to be there.
- 12:35Like, yeah.
- 12:37Thanks Birch.
- 12:37Judy Reed lives an hour away from me.
- 12:40Not even like,
- 12:42a Northern suburb of Columbus.
- 12:45And I run into her more at the
- 12:46games than I do here.
- 12:51Oh, but it,
- 12:55so it was really interesting thing because
- 12:56like, I'm so different.
- 12:59in love with the masters community that
- 13:01like, that was a lot of,
- 13:04that was a lot of my thought process.
- 13:06Sure.
- 13:07But then you have the elite side too,
- 13:08which I have a lot of friends,
- 13:10but like I just ran into CTP at
- 13:13syndicate and he's one of my like good
- 13:16friends at the games.
- 13:17So like I eliminate him from my list
- 13:19cause I just saw him.
- 13:21Yeah.
- 13:22But like Amanda Harry,
- 13:23who's another one of like the little three
- 13:26group that we hang out with,
- 13:28I haven't seen her since last year's
- 13:30games.
- 13:32it's also be difficult for me because I've
- 13:34never actually been to the games.
- 13:35So there's that.
- 13:38Um, but there's people that I,
- 13:39I chat with, I text with, I,
- 13:43you know, interact with on a daily basis,
- 13:45almost that I have never actually met in
- 13:47person,
- 13:48but that list is pretty freaking long.
- 13:51So that would be kind of difficult to,
- 13:53to pull off.
- 13:53You know what I mean?
- 13:55Like George, I just say just an hour,
- 13:56we're down to three,
- 13:57but that's a great question.
- 13:58I like that a lot.
- 14:00Yeah, it was, uh,
- 14:02It was a great question.
- 14:03It made,
- 14:04it really got me self-reflective as to
- 14:07like, cause at Syndicate, I was,
- 14:09it was really just my goal to get
- 14:11my foot back in the water of going
- 14:13to live events,
- 14:14being on my feet for the whole weekend,
- 14:16being able to run around and do all
- 14:18the stuff I needed to do,
- 14:20but I didn't really have a purpose.
- 14:23And so like this made me think about,
- 14:25okay,
- 14:26who do I want to see and what
- 14:28can I accomplish at the games?
- 14:31Because the one thing I know,
- 14:33and it got me really self-reflective,
- 14:35is I love this show and I love
- 14:38my Sunday night show.
- 14:40And I wouldn't change those for a minute.
- 14:46But when I'm in person,
- 14:51I have evolved and changed so much since
- 14:54when I first went with Morning Chalk Up
- 14:56in twenty twenty one to where I am
- 14:59today.
- 15:00And I,
- 15:00and I don't know what the next step
- 15:02is.
- 15:04What's learning.
- 15:05It's learning like more about yourself.
- 15:08It's also learning about what you,
- 15:10what you want to do,
- 15:11what you don't want to do,
- 15:12what you will put up with,
- 15:13what you won't put up with.
- 15:16But I also,
- 15:16I don't want to spend two thousand dollars
- 15:20to go to the games and not have
- 15:22a purpose.
- 15:23A hundred percent.
- 15:24Right.
- 15:24Well, because you feel like you,
- 15:25you need to,
- 15:26because you're going there instead of just
- 15:27going to enjoy the experience.
- 15:30Correct.
- 15:30You want to be able to, to,
- 15:31to bring something back that you can,
- 15:32we can talk about here or y'all can
- 15:34talk about Sunday night or,
- 15:35or whatever the case may be.
- 15:36Like I get that.
- 15:38I get that.
- 15:38And, and, and I,
- 15:44and what I'm going to say now isn't
- 15:46like a slight on anybody,
- 15:48but like it in twenty twenty one,
- 15:51I started doing off.
- 15:53the floor interviews right after the
- 15:55events.
- 15:56Yup.
- 15:57And I didn't, I didn't,
- 16:00I didn't want to be like Nikki Bray,
- 16:03Nikki,
- 16:05nikki brazier right we know what you're
- 16:10talking about whatever um or any of those
- 16:13i didn't want to do what they were
- 16:14doing i wanted it to be different and
- 16:16because i had done so many semi-final
- 16:18interviews i knew the backstory of all
- 16:21these athletes so the questions weren't
- 16:24about that specific moment it was about
- 16:27how did it how did it culminate to
- 16:30this or what did your backstory bring you
- 16:33to this
- 16:34sure well after i did that for like
- 16:37a year and a half everybody was lined
- 16:40up to do the after event interviews and
- 16:44then you have people doing them that are
- 16:46like talking to the athlete for five six
- 16:49minutes they ain't got time for that and
- 16:52then they just got frustrated and they got
- 16:57And so I pivoted off of that, right?
- 17:00So then the next games I did,
- 17:02I followed four people at the games,
- 17:04Emily Rolfe, Alex Kazan, Kelly Baker,
- 17:08and Rudy Berger.
- 17:11And so that was a really fun thing,
- 17:15but I had no access.
- 17:17I was doing it all in hotel lobbies,
- 17:20hotel rooms,
- 17:22in the corridors at the arena.
- 17:24Like wherever I could get them, right?
- 17:30And then the next year, uh, twenty,
- 17:33twenty four,
- 17:35Lazar dies and I just shut down.
- 17:38Yeah, that's fair.
- 17:40You were there to experience it.
- 17:42Everybody deals with it differently.
- 17:43No idea what to do after that.
- 17:44No.
- 17:45And why would you?
- 17:47And then last year I went and I
- 17:49did the behind the scenes with Hattie,
- 17:51which was awesome.
- 17:54But I'm probably not going to get that
- 17:56access again.
- 17:59And I don't know...
- 18:02With the changes this year,
- 18:04who knows what kind of access you're going
- 18:06to get.
- 18:07Right.
- 18:07So it's really trying to figure out what
- 18:10can I do that's different?
- 18:12Because I had this conversation with
- 18:13Hiller the other night.
- 18:15We have to stop treating media like we're
- 18:17playing with Monopoly money.
- 18:19And we need to keep elevating it.
- 18:23Because the better it gets,
- 18:25the better it elevates the sport,
- 18:27the better it elevates CrossFit,
- 18:29and then the more opportunities we all
- 18:30get.
- 18:32Yup.
- 18:33Right?
- 18:33So what can I do new and unique
- 18:37and bring something to the table
- 18:40worthwhile with the access and the
- 18:43finances I have?
- 18:44That's an excellent question.
- 18:48And that one question from Ortega during
- 18:51that podcast,
- 18:54sent all of that flooding through my mind
- 18:57good job ortega so it's been and then
- 19:03i actually lost i i should have taken
- 19:06a double dose of thirdsy last night
- 19:07because i was literally up at three a.m
- 19:09going what should i what should i do
- 19:15um i'm gonna tell you what i normally
- 19:16do in situations like that is that i
- 19:18try to get my mind off of it
- 19:20and let it come to me naturally
- 19:23Cause if I spent too much time,
- 19:24I'll do the same thing you did.
- 19:25Like I'll wake up at two o'clock in
- 19:27the morning and it's in the back of
- 19:28my head.
- 19:28And like,
- 19:29now I can't sleep because it's just
- 19:30running, right.
- 19:31Running, running, running, running,
- 19:32running.
- 19:34And if I can find some sort of
- 19:36way to just deflect and do something else
- 19:40and go look at something else and go
- 19:41focus on something else that usually ends
- 19:43up helping me to focus back in,
- 19:46you know,
- 19:46it'll come back around naturally.
- 19:48Hey, I'm going to do this.
- 19:50Or if I can narrow it down to
- 19:52a couple of different options, like, okay,
- 19:54I can either do it this way or
- 19:55I can do it this way and just
- 19:57kind of see which direction it goes in,
- 20:00then it becomes just a choice.
- 20:02You can almost flip a coin at that
- 20:03point and go, I'm doing this,
- 20:06and this is what I'm doing.
- 20:07This is the plan.
- 20:08This is the situation I'm putting myself
- 20:11in, and I'm not deviating from it.
- 20:13It all wiggles aside as needed,
- 20:16but for the most part,
- 20:17we plow right along through there.
- 20:21Or I was just talking about this yesterday
- 20:22with the guy from Primal Mobility, too.
- 20:24This is crazy.
- 20:26Yeah, I just... There's a big part,
- 20:31and we'll get off this because this is
- 20:32just... Yeah.
- 20:36I don't know.
- 20:36This is for me, but...
- 20:40there's a big part of me that wants
- 20:41to dive into the masters community,
- 20:43but my relationship with Joe and Bob is,
- 20:46has gotten so bad that I just don't
- 20:49see that even being a possibility.
- 20:51Right.
- 20:54So the last thing I'll say before we
- 20:55get off of that is that it is
- 20:56wild to me that all you've ever done
- 20:59is try to help them and showcase the
- 21:02athletes that they are trying to showcase.
- 21:04And it was,
- 21:05and your relationship with them is what it
- 21:07is.
- 21:08I will never understand that.
- 21:10Hexie Lover keeps singing WKRP in
- 21:12Cincinnati.
- 21:13She's singing WKRP in Cincinnati.
- 21:19I used to watch that show.
- 21:20I love that show.
- 21:27Ortega says it's your podcast.
- 21:29Let it ride.
- 21:29This is a good conversation.
- 21:31It is a good conversation,
- 21:33but we don't need to take up the
- 21:34whole show with it.
- 21:36We can keep letting it evolve over the
- 21:37next...
- 21:39We're not going to table it and then
- 21:41leave it on the table.
- 21:42That's not going to happen.
- 21:47They brought back WKRP for radio.
- 21:51Oh,
- 21:52I guess in Cincinnati is actually a
- 21:53station.
- 21:54That's cool.
- 21:55Andrew lives in Cincinnati.
- 21:56So I would only,
- 21:58if you're going to hand out WKRP as
- 22:00call letters, it better be in Cincinnati.
- 22:03Yeah.
- 22:03WKRP and Baton Rouge wouldn't make the
- 22:05same.
- 22:05That wouldn't sound the same at all.
- 22:07No.
- 22:08WKRP LA.
- 22:09Not, not a good.
- 22:11No.
- 22:15Oh, uh, I miss TV theme.
- 22:17So I have, uh,
- 22:18dude we could do a whole show on
- 22:20the greatest tv theme songs making your
- 22:22way in the world today takes everything
- 22:25you got i mean come on dude like
- 22:28i know several of them off the top
- 22:30of my head wouldn't you like to get
- 22:33away yeah uh joseph wants to go four
- 22:38more hours because he's in the office uh
- 22:45Thank you for being a friend.
- 22:48Traveling down the road and back again.
- 22:51Yes, indeed.
- 22:53Vicki's all for that special edition
- 22:55Clydesdale.
- 22:57Absolutely.
- 22:57There we go.
- 23:01So back to CrossFit,
- 23:02because yesterday we worked completely off
- 23:04the rails.
- 23:06So the issue...
- 23:11Not issue.
- 23:12I was listening to Hiller and Sousa this
- 23:14morning.
- 23:14I only caught the end of it,
- 23:16but yeah.
- 23:18And they were talking about event
- 23:23organizers and how they're spending their
- 23:25money.
- 23:26And is it the best allocation of the
- 23:28funds?
- 23:29So like when you have NorCal and they're
- 23:32handing out twenty grand to the winners.
- 23:37Is that more of an attraction for
- 23:40spectators and getting athletes there?
- 23:43Or is it the games ticket that gets
- 23:45the athletes there?
- 23:47And should they take some of that money
- 23:49and invest it into media?
- 23:54And some of the ideas were that they
- 23:56could actually bring in a cell tower for
- 23:59that event for fifty grand.
- 24:01I say that's how much, I mean,
- 24:02that's half of what it costs for that
- 24:04prize money stuff.
- 24:05Well, you have men and women,
- 24:06twenty grand each.
- 24:07That's forty grand.
- 24:08That's forty.
- 24:10And that's just that was just a winner,
- 24:11right?
- 24:14Yeah, that's just the winner.
- 24:15So that's probably your fifty grand right
- 24:16there.
- 24:17And now you have way better.
- 24:20And let me not say way better coverage.
- 24:21You have way better service.
- 24:23So it's not choppy and it doesn't look
- 24:25like they're underwater,
- 24:27which I was not complaining about there in
- 24:29the stream because we had a stream like
- 24:32they're dealing with what they're dealing
- 24:33with.
- 24:33But yeah, one hundred percent.
- 24:35And they even had the ideas of maybe
- 24:37invest it more into post-production and
- 24:39not the cell tower like.
- 24:42Have guys at the end of five different
- 24:44lanes just film one athlete from beginning
- 24:48to end.
- 24:49The athlete can use that to make whatever
- 24:51they want.
- 24:53You can make reels and stuff out of
- 24:55it.
- 24:57And then you just start pumping out
- 24:59post-production stuff.
- 25:02And I like that idea because if you
- 25:03give it to the athlete,
- 25:05now you're leveraging their audience on
- 25:08top of your audience to not only promote
- 25:11the event, but promote what CrossFit is.
- 25:14Yeah.
- 25:16So some of the independent media guys at
- 25:19the comps I've been to,
- 25:21you can buy raw footage off of them
- 25:24or they'll make you a reel.
- 25:26I've had a couple of them or several
- 25:28of them, matter of fact, three or four,
- 25:30make me reels from the raw footage and
- 25:32they'll send me the raw footage so I
- 25:33can do that or I can just take
- 25:34their reel from it and whatnot and then
- 25:36put it out on my stuff.
- 25:36And it tags the
- 25:41The event, it promotes you.
- 25:42It promotes the person,
- 25:45the media person that's doing it all.
- 25:47And it's kind of pricey on the individual
- 25:50side.
- 25:51But for me,
- 25:52I enjoy it because I like to look
- 25:55at stuff like that.
- 25:56I like to remember all the cool shit
- 25:58that I did while I was there and
- 26:00whatnot.
- 26:00And then it gets more exposure and it
- 26:02gets stuff out and it gets other people
- 26:04seeing what what people are capable of as
- 26:07well.
- 26:08I really enjoy that.
- 26:09That's I like that idea.
- 26:13When was the biggest growth in CrossFit
- 26:17when media was a priority?
- 26:20Absolutely.
- 26:22So I'll tell you,
- 26:22we were a media company.
- 26:26And maybe the prize money isn't as high
- 26:29for the athletes,
- 26:31but the exposure and the,
- 26:36and the awareness would grow for those
- 26:41individuals for other opportunities.
- 26:44Sure.
- 26:46hundred percent it's the entire purpose of
- 26:49that kind of stuff is to get more
- 26:50eyes on what you are doing it's not
- 26:53just eyes of regular people it's eyes of
- 26:54people who may have opportunities for you
- 26:57sponsorship opportunities endorsement
- 26:59opportunities whatever whatever whatever
- 27:01that ends up looking at you know for
- 27:02the guys that are trying to make this
- 27:04into a career and it's hard to do
- 27:07that if you don't have good like the
- 27:11the the people who are doing all these
- 27:12sponsorships they're not going scouting
- 27:13people
- 27:15at events, right?
- 27:16There's not a tier scout walking around
- 27:21NorCal going,
- 27:23that guy looks like a tier athlete.
- 27:25We should probably sign him.
- 27:27No,
- 27:27you get exposure on the socials and that
- 27:31brings more eyes to your stuff and then
- 27:32maybe you might be able to get a
- 27:33deal off of that.
- 27:37I like it.
- 27:39A very large game of whack-a-mole.
- 27:42Is that going to be the first event?
- 27:43Is that going to be the first event
- 27:45at the games?
- 27:48Yeah.
- 27:49Yeah.
- 27:50Sorry.
- 27:51But no, she's right.
- 27:57But there's facts behind this thought
- 27:59process.
- 28:00Yeah.
- 28:01The largest growth of the games was
- 28:04fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen.
- 28:07Media was huge.
- 28:12Go back and look,
- 28:13you can still find all of that stuff
- 28:15and there is a ton of it.
- 28:19A ton of it.
- 28:21Search games.
- 28:22I mean the road to the games,
- 28:24the behind the scenes Saban did from the
- 28:26games, the games, documentaries, the,
- 28:28all the little stuff in between there that
- 28:30they did.
- 28:32It's all still out there.
- 28:33The internet is forever.
- 28:34I don't know if anybody ever told y'all
- 28:35that or not.
- 28:36Don't send those nudes.
- 28:37Internet is forever.
- 28:41It's like highlight reels for scouts and
- 28:42other sports.
- 28:43Yeah.
- 28:44And it goes back to Hiller's other idea
- 28:46where he said,
- 28:48instead of just blanketly giving media
- 28:51access to people at the games,
- 28:55give them three athletes to cover or five
- 28:58athletes to cover.
- 28:59It's almost like someone else said that.
- 29:02Well,
- 29:03Hiller said that like weeks ago and then
- 29:05we talked about it.
- 29:06I don't want to take his idea because
- 29:08it was his on the Glintons podcast.
- 29:11Yep.
- 29:15Then you're there with a purpose, right?
- 29:17It comes back to our initial conversation.
- 29:20Then when the media has a purpose and
- 29:23it's an opportunity for them to show what
- 29:26they can do,
- 29:28they're trying to up their game and then
- 29:30the athletes trying to up their game and
- 29:32then we kind of start building on
- 29:34something right now it all that crossfit
- 29:37does is throw spaghetti at the wall and
- 29:39hope something sticks which is not really
- 29:44a great way to run a media company
- 29:47now jenna has made some changes where
- 29:50there seems to be plans but the plans
- 29:55are very similar to what's happened in the
- 29:57past
- 29:58Yeah.
- 29:59And it needs to evolve.
- 30:00Right.
- 30:02It needs to evolve as the landscape
- 30:04changes, because also socials in thirteen,
- 30:08fourteen, fifteen,
- 30:08sixteen were blowing up at the time.
- 30:11So, yeah,
- 30:11let's put out all this content because
- 30:13people are eating it up.
- 30:15Right.
- 30:15And as socials change and as how the
- 30:18way people interact with each other
- 30:19change,
- 30:19then the way that the content is put
- 30:21out also needs to change.
- 30:25Hill is a fantastic example of that.
- 30:27Like he went out and made three hundred
- 30:28sixty five videos in three hundred sixty
- 30:29five days.
- 30:30And then we went from that to doing
- 30:32well,
- 30:32I'm going to do some of this long
- 30:33form stuff from a spend, you know,
- 30:35forty eight hours with Hayley Adams or
- 30:37whatever, whatever it was.
- 30:38And then people started eating it up like,
- 30:40oh, I didn't know he could do this.
- 30:42And then he went from that to,
- 30:45I'm going to do somebody's, you know,
- 30:46pop on and go live.
- 30:47And now he's got his little studio where
- 30:49he just brings people in like Sousa this
- 30:50morning and they have a long form
- 30:53conversation or whatnot.
- 30:54And it's evolving because it needs to
- 30:57evolve because if not,
- 30:58he'll just be the guy doing, you know,
- 31:00no rep videos for the rest of his
- 31:02life.
- 31:02And let's be honest,
- 31:03that behind the scenes he did was as
- 31:06good as anything that's been out there.
- 31:09I would,
- 31:09I would put it on the same level
- 31:11as that.
- 31:13Yes.
- 31:15Now,
- 31:16he completely lucked out on the storylines
- 31:19at Syndicate.
- 31:20He got massive storylines,
- 31:22but he was the one hustling his ass
- 31:23off to capture it all.
- 31:25Exactly.
- 31:26And you don't know unless you try.
- 31:28I mean,
- 31:33there probably was also some massive
- 31:34storylines at NorCal.
- 31:36He wasn't at NorCal.
- 31:38And nobody was doing that at NorCal.
- 31:39They were busy broadcasting it.
- 31:42Well, and here's the problem with this,
- 31:45right?
- 31:46So at that same event, Syndicate,
- 31:49Ian Wittenberg is there for CrossFit doing
- 31:52his thing.
- 31:54Now we're going to get a road to
- 31:55the game, Syndicate Crown,
- 31:56that we've already seen.
- 31:59Yeah.
- 32:01Right?
- 32:01And that's when I made the statement that
- 32:05I have boys interrupted fatigue, right?
- 32:08I have Boys Interrupted Fatigue not
- 32:10because of the boys,
- 32:11but because they did their quarterfinal
- 32:14weekend on their channel.
- 32:17And then Ian went and did another road
- 32:20to the games of the exact same weekend.
- 32:23It's like the same shots,
- 32:25just from different angles.
- 32:28If Ian would have been at NorCal...
- 32:31While Hiller's at Syndicate.
- 32:33Well,
- 32:34here's also the other difference too is
- 32:35that Hiller's turnaround time is insane.
- 32:41It is Buttery Rose level turnaround time.
- 32:43Like I'm just going to do this.
- 32:44I'm going to edit it all night and
- 32:45then I'm going to put it out in
- 32:46the morning.
- 32:47So I will tell you,
- 32:49the first documentary I ever did was with
- 32:51Jamie.
- 32:53Doing her semifinal weekend or
- 32:56quarterfinal, whenever it was.
- 32:57It was semifinal.
- 32:58And I turned it around every single night.
- 33:01Yeah.
- 33:03It can be done.
- 33:04It takes like you have to be dedicated
- 33:08on the editing and work until the wee
- 33:11hours of the morning and basically drink
- 33:14seven hundred C fours or gorilla mines to
- 33:17get you through the weekend.
- 33:19Which is what he did.
- 33:21I'm certain of that.
- 33:23But then this goes back to the other
- 33:24thing we talked about a couple days ago.
- 33:26With CrossFit handing all of the stuff off
- 33:29to other people,
- 33:30they have no control who gets media access
- 33:33at these events and who does what.
- 33:36So now you get these willy-nilly media
- 33:39things being thrown out there that are
- 33:42great, but if it was coordinated better...
- 33:47We could get a road to the games
- 33:49at NorCal,
- 33:50a behind the scenes from Hilliard
- 33:51Syndicate, Peter over at Madfest.
- 33:58I'm just throwing names out.
- 34:00That would have been wild, by the way.
- 34:02I did watch him in Monday yesterday.
- 34:07Holy smokes, dude.
- 34:09Yeah.
- 34:11It's hard to argue with their points.
- 34:14Like it's really,
- 34:15really like the way Monday was describing
- 34:17it and the way everybody else has seemed
- 34:19to be like,
- 34:20or a couple of people that have confirmed
- 34:21what he said.
- 34:22And just look at the points on the
- 34:24leaderboard.
- 34:25Holy smokes.
- 34:26It is hard to ignore it.
- 34:30It really, really is.
- 34:34From a fan perspective,
- 34:35there's no reason to care too much about
- 34:37any one person unless they make a name
- 34:38for themselves through their own content
- 34:40or whatnot.
- 34:42Hence why folks follow Spiegel.
- 34:44But I think that because you have
- 34:47different athletes, Dan,
- 34:49and this is my conversation I have with
- 34:50Hiller too, is like you have T.O.
- 34:53that will tell you how good he is
- 34:56and he'll make his own content, right?
- 35:01Then you'll have like Barry Sanders who
- 35:05hands the ball to the ref and lets
- 35:07everybody else say how great he is.
- 35:11You have athletes out there that will
- 35:13never go out and brag and make the
- 35:15content themselves.
- 35:17That are awesome individuals with awesome
- 35:19personality who need assistance in
- 35:24elevating their personality and profile.
- 35:27Yeah.
- 35:31So...
- 35:34That's where I think there needs to be
- 35:36a more organized approach.
- 35:38And, and I,
- 35:39and it comes back to like when stuff
- 35:42is handed out the games, right?
- 35:45Athletes have their own,
- 35:46like Justin Medeiros has Jess,
- 35:49is it Dallas?
- 35:51That does his content, right?
- 35:53He wants media credentials.
- 35:55The mayhem crew have their own people that
- 35:57do their stuff.
- 36:01Because so many of the athletes have that
- 36:04there's no room in the media pit.
- 36:06There's no room in the warmup area.
- 36:10Especially when you get to the, the,
- 36:12the guys like Justin, who are,
- 36:13I won't say mostly independent,
- 36:15but they're not part of a giant camp,
- 36:18right?
- 36:19The proven people are going to have their
- 36:22own team, not going to be one person,
- 36:25not sending one person mayhems,
- 36:27not sending one person.
- 36:28they go in at least two.
- 36:30And that's just adding up after a while.
- 36:32So then there's no room for the
- 36:35independent media that aren't attached to
- 36:37a who are giving you the basically
- 36:41unedited version of the of the weekend.
- 36:44what's the it's the wider shot instead of
- 36:46the more focused shot right yeah instead
- 36:48of ctp in there following all the the
- 36:52ttt athletes around right you know and
- 36:54just going okay i'm watching this watching
- 36:57this guy i'm watching this guy i'm
- 36:58watching this guy and to hell with
- 36:59everybody else because they're and and
- 37:01rightly so i'm not down on them for
- 37:04that because that is their athletes that's
- 37:05what they're there to do but there's only
- 37:07so much room to go around i disagree
- 37:11with vicky
- 37:12I will say on the floor in the
- 37:13pit,
- 37:14there should only be CrossFit media and
- 37:15broadcasting.
- 37:18No.
- 37:18The pit is there for third-party media as
- 37:21well.
- 37:22The problem is you have people making
- 37:25individualized content promoting
- 37:27themselves.
- 37:30Then you have people trying to report on
- 37:33the whole thing as a whole.
- 37:35Those types of news people in every sport
- 37:38get access to a media pit.
- 37:40Yeah.
- 37:43right but like i don't think jalen brunson
- 37:47has his own cameraman in the media area
- 37:52at the nba finals probably not he doesn't
- 37:57need one right now the floor i don't
- 38:04think anybody should be on nope period
- 38:09i've said that one billion times
- 38:12That is my pet peeve.
- 38:14Just like the guy that pulled the gun
- 38:16on the person's fee,
- 38:17heating up some fish in the microwave.
- 38:19A hundred percent.
- 38:20Well, it, it,
- 38:22it becomes a problem when like at, uh,
- 38:26when was that for the open announcement?
- 38:29Whenever that chick almost ran,
- 38:31ran into Lucy or dude, whoever that was.
- 38:34I don't remember.
- 38:36Lucy.
- 38:37Yeah, no, I know it was Lucy.
- 38:37I don't know if it was a guy
- 38:38or girl.
- 38:38It was a girl.
- 38:40Yeah.
- 38:40That was a problem.
- 38:42yep that's when there's too many too many
- 38:44chiefs not enough indians all right a
- 38:49couple other things before we go uh jason
- 38:51ainsley was named the president of the wfp
- 38:55oh good on jason man i like that
- 38:58dude if you've never met jason he is
- 39:00a sincere humble individual and he is
- 39:03sharp as a tag i really like jason
- 39:05a lot
- 39:06He has been the most eloquent spokesman
- 39:08for WFP for the last year.
- 39:12And that is a very, very smart decision.
- 39:17What being president means,
- 39:19I have no idea.
- 39:22But he was head of global event
- 39:25organization.
- 39:26Yep.
- 39:27And he's been promoted to president.
- 39:32If you've never been to one of his
- 39:33events,
- 39:34and I've only been to one so far,
- 39:37and that was Monster Games.
- 39:38I'm going back this July.
- 39:41It is well run.
- 39:43It is organized.
- 39:44It is on time.
- 39:46It is – I mean,
- 39:48you say what you want about the program,
- 39:50and he puts that in Hefner's hands,
- 39:52but whatever –
- 39:54um but it is a high quality event
- 39:58all the way through start to finish i
- 40:01have nothing but good things to say about
- 40:02that dude so good on him i'm happy
- 40:04for him uh proof that my phone listens
- 40:08to me uh i just got a notifier
- 40:12that kelly baker made a post i haven't
- 40:15uttered her name in weeks and there it
- 40:18is yeah um
- 40:21It's funny.
- 40:21I went to hang out with my best
- 40:25friend last night.
- 40:26We were just sitting outside.
- 40:29He used to be diehard CrossFit,
- 40:31got a promotion.
- 40:34We haven't talked really CrossFit.
- 40:36I had to explain to him what WFP
- 40:38was last night.
- 40:40How did that go?
- 40:42It was hard.
- 40:43I imagine it was.
- 40:45It was really, really hard.
- 40:49I imagine it was.
- 40:52It was a lot harder than I thought
- 40:53it would have been.
- 40:56Trying to explain it and like, okay,
- 40:58so this happened.
- 41:01Right.
- 41:02And then all these elite athletes,
- 41:04but now they don't have all the elite
- 41:06athletes,
- 41:07but it's probably a better fit for what
- 41:09they should be.
- 41:10Right.
- 41:11They still have some of the elite
- 41:12athletes,
- 41:13but not as many as they had initially.
- 41:15And that's probably actually a better
- 41:16thing.
- 41:16Like trying to explain somebody why not
- 41:19having the best athletes they could
- 41:20possibly have is probably actually better
- 41:21for them than what they had going on.
- 41:23I can't.
- 41:25God bless you.
- 41:25Yeah.
- 41:27It just was, it was pretty interesting.
- 41:30Um,
- 41:32So yeah, Vicki,
- 41:35what is wrong with these people is wrong
- 41:38with these people.
- 41:40Um, it's CrossFit,
- 41:43but not really CrossFit,
- 41:44but people doing CrossFit,
- 41:45but not really yet.
- 41:47You kind of go down that, that path,
- 41:50but, but to be honest,
- 41:52I would have a hard time explaining, like,
- 41:54thankfully he still knows like the
- 41:56CrossFit game season ish.
- 41:58Yeah.
- 41:59But if the person didn't know the game
- 42:01season, I couldn't explain what.
- 42:04Does anybody really know the game season
- 42:06anymore?
- 42:07It changes every year.
- 42:10I can't remember where.
- 42:12I think it was on the Hill or
- 42:12Sousa.
- 42:13They talked about that maybe we should
- 42:15have the same game season two years in
- 42:17a row.
- 42:18Because Lydia Fish says she's never had
- 42:20the same season twice.
- 42:22Matt Fraser said the same thing.
- 42:24And, uh, and I wrote in the chat,
- 42:26like, that's fine, but please, dear God,
- 42:29don't let it be this season.
- 42:31We repeat.
- 42:32No, let's go back and go like,
- 42:36let's repeat that one.
- 42:40It's better than that's for sure.
- 42:46let's start with let's do the online
- 42:49qualifier for the masters at the end of
- 42:51all the live ones can we do that
- 42:52can we start right there that'd be good
- 42:54i'm not even getting into age groups dude
- 42:56i'm just the elites is hard enough like
- 43:00i would like the handbook like like what
- 43:02what daniel's saying um for the handbook
- 43:05to come out and it'd be minor changes
- 43:08from last year
- 43:10Like the way they could just change the
- 43:12year on it,
- 43:12like from twenty twenty five handbook to
- 43:14twenty twenty six handbook.
- 43:15And they're like,
- 43:16we've added one thing in here that's
- 43:17changed.
- 43:20Here you go.
- 43:21Moving right along.
- 43:22The one thing I did appreciate is Matt
- 43:24calling Hiller out that Dave probably
- 43:27doesn't have as much control as you think
- 43:28he does.
- 43:29Oh, yeah.
- 43:31And he's right.
- 43:33That there are money factors,
- 43:34there are board factors,
- 43:35there are safety factors that have all
- 43:39been thrown into the equation over the
- 43:41last few years.
- 43:42I cannot imagine a level of calm and
- 43:47inner peace that Dave has to have to
- 43:48be able to continually put out and work.
- 43:53do the thing that he absolutely loves to
- 43:55do that he created every year on you
- 43:58know without in and to now have way
- 44:01less say in how it actually ends up
- 44:03going because he still has now yet you
- 44:05know answering to people now because
- 44:07before it was just greg and he's like
- 44:10i'm sure i don't say greg greg didn't
- 44:12give him carte blanche necessarily but it
- 44:14was way less than what he has to
- 44:15deal with now
- 44:18And that to me, like,
- 44:19this is my baby.
- 44:20This is my thing.
- 44:21This is the thing I'll spend all year
- 44:24mapping out, working on this, that,
- 44:26and whatever.
- 44:27And in some boardroom with twelve people
- 44:30who've never done a thruster in their
- 44:32entire life is like,
- 44:33we don't want to do it like that.
- 44:36You say that,
- 44:36but Greg is the one that said,
- 44:38let's get rid of the media team.
- 44:41Let's do a world broadcast and let's
- 44:43invite someone from every country in the
- 44:45world.
- 44:46We're going to have a hundred and forty
- 44:48individual males and a hundred and ten
- 44:51individual females.
- 44:54Right.
- 44:55And Greg has had CEOs in the past.
- 44:59He has.
- 45:00That did have say in what happened.
- 45:04I just think there's a whole lot more
- 45:06oversight now than what there was before.
- 45:08And, and Matt did also point out like,
- 45:10and Dave also has to deal with permits
- 45:12and venues and things that are out of
- 45:15his control as well.
- 45:18I really enjoy him say, join him.
- 45:20I'm really enjoying him mentioning Barack
- 45:22Obama Avenue every time we see him on
- 45:24a video now.
- 45:25Yeah.
- 45:28going to come out here and just run
- 45:29across barack obama and i'm like every
- 45:32time he says it like it takes me
- 45:34a second to realize that he's talking
- 45:35about the street not barack obama with
- 45:41that um i'm gonna play one video uh
- 45:44we talked about it earlier in the week
- 45:46about my lego addiction yes um and so
- 45:49i saw this online i just wanted to
- 45:51share because it's very much uh what i
- 45:54am right now
- 45:57This guy is hilarious.
- 45:59You know what?
- 45:59I now realize that Lego is a gateway
- 46:02drug.
- 46:03They should stand outside the Lego crack
- 46:05store and give out free samples.
- 46:07It's bourbon chicken or something.
- 46:11You think you're going to have a little
- 46:12puff.
- 46:12I think you're going to have a little
- 46:13bit of Lego weed.
- 46:17And then two weeks go by and you're
- 46:19doing heroin off of a homeless person's
- 46:20chest in the back of a Costco.
- 46:23You're getting hardcore shit.
- 46:24Okay.
- 46:24Do me a favor.
- 46:25If somebody gifts you a Lego set and
- 46:28you've never built Lego before,
- 46:30remove that person from your life.
- 46:32They don't like you.
- 46:33They want you to become an addict.
- 46:36They want you to become a hoarder of
- 46:38instruction manuals and boxes.
- 46:41You open that box and you're done.
- 46:42You're going to end up like me.
- 46:44I'm about to go and purchase half of
- 46:45middle earth and plastic.
- 46:47And then I got donkey Kong coming plastic
- 46:49crack.
- 46:50Son of a, you know what?
- 46:55I got half of middle earth coming and
- 46:58then don't dude.
- 47:02I can't even imagine in plastic.
- 47:04Yeah.
- 47:06No, my wife would murder me.
- 47:07I have enough hobbies as it is.
- 47:09I don't need to add anything else to
- 47:10it.
- 47:10I can't imagine trying to build something.
- 47:12She did the painting,
- 47:14the paint by numbers thing,
- 47:15but we're going to frame that,
- 47:18put it up on the wall.
- 47:18When she's going to do another one,
- 47:20we're going to frame that one.
- 47:21There's two spaces on either side of my
- 47:25fireplace,
- 47:26but that's just bare wall on either side.
- 47:28We've been wanting to put something there,
- 47:29had absolutely no idea.
- 47:31Now she's going to put one of those
- 47:32up, do another one,
- 47:33we'll put the other one up.
- 47:34But like,
- 47:36I would put a Lego thing together and
- 47:37she'd be like,
- 47:38what are you going to do with that?
- 47:39Well,
- 47:40you're not putting it up on my mantle.
- 47:42You're not putting it here.
- 47:44You're not putting it there.
- 47:45I would get a long list of you're
- 47:46not doing this with it.
- 47:51I'm currently working on a Dodge
- 47:53Challenger Hellcat.
- 47:55It's pretty damn sweet.
- 47:57but mark phillips says don't go down the
- 47:59mini bricks and figs star wars lego set
- 48:01wormhole i tried to because i wanted to
- 48:03know what the big deal was and i
- 48:05have to read for work and that was
- 48:08way too much reading for me to figure
- 48:10out what the hell that was all about
- 48:14six hundred dollars for lord of the ring
- 48:16legos
- 48:17Yeah, Ernie,
- 48:17so tempted to drop six hundred for Lord
- 48:19of the Rings Legos.
- 48:21Stupidest purchase for sure, but admit,
- 48:23damn, it's cool.
- 48:24Hey, bro,
- 48:25I talked about the other day that Iron
- 48:27Man mask that comes down.
- 48:29Like if I had four hundred dollars to
- 48:31burn on something like that,
- 48:33I would one hundred percent burn four
- 48:34hundred dollars on that.
- 48:35I have no problem with that.
- 48:36And I don't want a my own like
- 48:38real adults,
- 48:39like good barbell for the gym.
- 48:41And like that would get way more use
- 48:43out of that.
- 48:45But the Iron Man helmet is like way
- 48:46cooler.
- 48:48Some of these Lego sets are a car
- 48:49payment now.
- 48:51You speak of the Iron Man thing.
- 48:53My wife is watching Parks and Rec right
- 48:55now.
- 48:56And there's a scene where Adam Scott is
- 48:59playing.
- 48:59He plays,
- 49:00I got like an intern or something.
- 49:03And it's a day where most of the
- 49:06office goes out and does something.
- 49:08And the people left behind go and it's
- 49:10their day to spend money on themselves.
- 49:12like some stupid purchase.
- 49:14And Adam Scott,
- 49:15they call him a nerd all the time
- 49:17and all this stuff.
- 49:18And like,
- 49:19you need to spend money on yourself.
- 49:21And he's like, well, I bought some socks.
- 49:23You're like, no, no, no.
- 49:24You've got to buy something for yourself.
- 49:28And he walks out of the dressing room
- 49:29in a full Batman costume.
- 49:33And not like a kid's one,
- 49:35like the full rubber mask, like cape,
- 49:38the whole bit.
- 49:39And every time he walks around the corner,
- 49:41he does that flip with the cape like
- 49:43Batman does.
- 49:47That's outstanding.
- 49:49It was so freaking funny.
- 49:53Okay, last question.
- 49:55If you were going to buy a Batman
- 49:57suit, which Batman suit would you get?
- 50:02And we can go Adam West.
- 50:03We can go...
- 50:06So the best suit was the worst movie.
- 50:10With the nipples?
- 50:11The George Clooney suit?
- 50:12Oh, yeah.
- 50:14I got to rub something.
- 50:22I want the...
- 50:23It might be the Alicia Silverstone wearing
- 50:25the Batgirl that is really what is
- 50:27enticing me to that one.
- 50:29They put nipples on the wrong suit.
- 50:36Yes, thank you.
- 50:37Thank you, Joseph Ramirez.
- 50:38I wouldn't want the Michael Keaton.
- 50:40I can't turn my head.
- 50:41I got to do like this to turn
- 50:43Batman outfit with the yellow,
- 50:45the bright yellow bat symbol in the middle
- 50:47of it.
- 50:51Vicky says,
- 50:51I got my husband a Goonies Lego set.
- 50:54It's funny you say that, Vicky.
- 50:56We actually had a conversation yesterday
- 50:58before we went on the air.
- 51:01If Corey tells a story using the Goonies
- 51:04as a reference and they don't get the
- 51:06reference, they're cut out of his life.
- 51:08A hundred percent.
- 51:09A hundred percent.
- 51:11If I say, hey, you guys,
- 51:13or we talk about the truffle shuffle and
- 51:15you don't know what I'm talking about,
- 51:16I'm not talking to you anymore.
- 51:19uh christian bale's suit is iconic but the
- 51:21ben affleck one is badass looking until
- 51:24they put that stupid mechanical thing over
- 51:28them in batman versus superman oh yeah but
- 51:31i'm not that was so stupid you could
- 51:34probably buy that one but holy shit i
- 51:35can't imagine how expensive that one must
- 51:37be like sean says i gotta rub something's
- 51:41getting clipped
- 51:42Somebody's going to put,
- 51:42I got to rub something and then clip
- 51:44me saying that they put nipples on the
- 51:47wrong Batman costume,
- 51:48on the wrong costume for that movie.
- 51:50Yeah.
- 51:55oh yeah uh batman isn't a superhero he's
- 52:00a rich guy hero maybe not super come
- 52:02on man dan he said it by the
- 52:05league of assassins batfleck himself said
- 52:09it whenever he recruited flash because
- 52:12flash asked him what's your superpower
- 52:14again he said i'm rich they just drove
- 52:18off
- 52:20But people forget he was trained in Nepal
- 52:24with the League of Assassins.
- 52:26And then burnt down their house.
- 52:27I don't know.
- 52:29That's savage, dude.
- 52:31Yeah.
- 52:32That is the Batman movie that gets lost
- 52:34in the shuffle that is a great Batman.
- 52:36It's a fantastic movie.
- 52:37Batman Returns with Christian Bale,
- 52:39the first one, before Dark Knight.
- 52:42Before Dark Knight Rises,
- 52:44that first Batman movie is epic.
- 52:49That trilogy is the best superhero trilogy
- 52:53of all time.
- 52:55Better than anything Marvel ever put out.
- 52:59Come at me.
- 53:01The last one,
- 53:02I feel like there was just too much
- 53:04shit going on with the Bane one.
- 53:07Although Tom Hardy's Bane was outstanding.
- 53:11It's Batman Begins, not Returns.
- 53:12Sorry.
- 53:13Yeah.
- 53:14Batman Returns is the second Keaton movie
- 53:17where Danny DeVito is the penguin and is
- 53:19driving around in a giant rubber duck,
- 53:20which is priceless in and of itself.
- 53:27Yeah.
- 53:30OMG,
- 53:30I'm just now seeing Corey's tag on the
- 53:33stream.
- 53:37Well,
- 53:37cause Debbie was saying something this
- 53:39morning about somebody, you know,
- 53:43you shouldn't do a podcast high.
- 53:46Like somebody,
- 53:47apparently somebody was doing a CrossFit
- 53:48podcast and they were clearly on drugs of
- 53:51some way, same shape, form or another.
- 53:53And I was like, I said,
- 53:55the last thing I didn't get to get
- 53:56it in before they went off.
- 53:56I was like,
- 53:57I got a cortisone shot in my knee
- 53:58yesterday.
- 53:58Does that count as being on drugs?
- 54:01And I was like,
- 54:01I'm not actually on drugs.
- 54:04I know we talk about a bunch of
- 54:06wacky shit on here from day in and
- 54:08day out, but I, for sure,
- 54:11and I'm assuming Scott isn't either,
- 54:13we are not on drugs.
- 54:17I'm on a heart pill.
- 54:19Yeah.
- 54:19To keep my rhythm.
- 54:20Keep that rhythm in.
- 54:21Yeah, that's one thing.
- 54:24I'm sketchy, dude.
- 54:25I barely take like ibuprofen.
- 54:28I take my Thursday at night and create
- 54:32it in the morning.
- 54:33And that's about where it starts and ends.
- 54:36I have this
- 54:38I have this, tell me if I'm crazy.
- 54:40So like I don't take ibuprofen unless the
- 54:43pain gets really bad.
- 54:44Same.
- 54:44Because when I take it,
- 54:46I want it to work.
- 54:47Correct.
- 54:48And I don't want to take it so
- 54:49much that I get used to it or
- 54:51tolerant to it.
- 54:52Correct.
- 54:53So like it is reserved for when I'm
- 54:56really freaking hurting.
- 54:57Yeah.
- 55:01For me to take ibuprofen,
- 55:03like my wife's like, what's wrong?
- 55:05If I'm going to look for it,
- 55:07she's like, what are you doing?
- 55:07I'm getting ibuprofen out.
- 55:10What's wrong?
- 55:11Because I just,
- 55:13and I'm scared to death to take too
- 55:14much of it.
- 55:15Like over time.
- 55:16Because when I do take a dose,
- 55:18it's usually like six hundred to eight
- 55:19hundred milligrams at a time.
- 55:21Because that's how bad my shit's amped up
- 55:23at that point.
- 55:25Just let's test that theory.
- 55:27One gummy each.
- 55:31I wish somebody would drug test me.
- 55:34It's like the ultimate compliment for a
- 55:35Masters athlete is like, oh,
- 55:37you want to drug test me?
- 55:38Cool.
- 55:42P.S.
- 55:43Scott,
- 55:43I become an official Clydesdale this
- 55:44weekend doing my first triathlon.
- 55:46That's where the Clydesdale division
- 55:48started.
- 55:49That's where the name came from.
- 55:52Triathlons, five Ks, marathons.
- 55:55But I'll have that Clydesdale division.
- 55:58I think it's going to be like the
- 55:59juggernaut out there on the run.
- 56:00Boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom,
- 56:04boom.
- 56:04Running through people.
- 56:09As you get that pee cup in the
- 56:10mail this weekend.
- 56:14Send me one.
- 56:15Please, somebody send me one.
- 56:16You're going to find maybe some leftover
- 56:19ibuprofen from two days ago.
- 56:21The cortisone shot.
- 56:23I got my knee yesterday.
- 56:26Ibuprofen and whatever's in thirds,
- 56:28magnesium and whatever else.
- 56:30And a whole lot of gumbo.
- 56:33And no, I haven't even,
- 56:34I don't even know how,
- 56:36I always carry a urine sample.
- 56:38Is it yours, Joseph,
- 56:39or somebody else's urine sample?
- 56:41Like who's urine sample are you running
- 56:42around with?
- 56:43I'm kind of curious at this point.
- 56:45Well, if you're running around with it,
- 56:47it's probably somebody else's.
- 56:49Yeah.
- 56:50I think it's because I always carry a
- 56:51urine sample with me.
- 56:53Joseph,
- 56:53just remember you got to keep it warm
- 56:54or they won't believe you.
- 56:57Dude, there's a thing you can buy.
- 57:02I know this from my old construction days.
- 57:04I've seen people actually get it,
- 57:05that it attaches to your leg,
- 57:09and it keeps it at body temperature,
- 57:12and it's right there.
- 57:13So you go to pee,
- 57:14and even if somebody's in the room,
- 57:15they're not going to be looking directly
- 57:16at you.
- 57:17They're just going to be watching you do
- 57:18stuff, and you pull it out.
- 57:20Isn't it called the Whizinator?
- 57:23I think an athlete got caught with one.
- 57:25I believe that's correct.
- 57:27The Whizinator.
- 57:28Yeah.
- 57:31which also sounds like a B movie of
- 57:34some sort variety.
- 57:37All right, guys,
- 57:39I got to get back to work.
- 57:40You knuckleheads time to get back to work
- 57:41too.

- 57:51you open this box with that.
- 57:54See you guys next time.
- 57:55You wouldn't wait to get to the editing
- 57:57room to jazz me up.
- 57:59I'm already jazzy.
