SPEAKER_03: Right, lads, before I get into what he's done the weekend, we're going straight into clown watch.
0:06
SPEAKER_00: You love this, don't you?
0:07
SPEAKER_03: It's been an absolute weekend full of clowns.
0:11
SPEAKER_03: So, Chelsea.
0:14
SPEAKER_02: Oh, don't you?
0:14
SPEAKER_03: I don't know who's in mid there.
0:15
SPEAKER_03: I don't know who's the bigger clown.
0:17
SPEAKER_03: So, the referee for standing there and loving it.
0:21
SPEAKER_03: Let's that's let's be honest, we've seen that referee throughout the years, the years, and he loved it, didn't he?
0:27
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, he absolutely loved it.
0:28
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, the coward was on and you just moved on, yeah.
0:31
SPEAKER_00: So yeah, just get me out.
0:32
SPEAKER_03: Hope almost didn't want to be in the huddle.
0:34
SPEAKER_03: So he was looking at the ref to go, what are you doing?
0:36
SPEAKER_03: Do you remember when Donald Trump presented the trophy?
0:38
SPEAKER_00: No, like, are you gonna leave now or not?
0:40
SPEAKER_03: That's my kind of attitude.
0:41
SPEAKER_03: Move it the way.
0:42
SPEAKER_03: So Tier's like, cameras are on us, I'm just gonna stand and watch.
0:45
SPEAKER_03: And a few people are going, he was trapped like a de uh headlights.
0:49
SPEAKER_03: He wasn't.
0:50
SPEAKER_00: Nah, just move them though, isn't it?
0:52
SPEAKER_00: Just move.
0:52
SPEAKER_00: Like, and then the the interview about respecting the the ball.
0:56
SPEAKER_00: Respecting the ball.
0:57
SPEAKER_00: Oh no, yeah.
0:58
SPEAKER_00: Well, sorry, sorry, I'm jumping with the gun, I'm the second clown.
1:00
SPEAKER_00: Is it him?
1:01
SPEAKER_03: Aye, some of the things the lads wanted to respect the ball.
1:05
SPEAKER_00: Oh, honestly.
1:06
SPEAKER_00: I couldn't believe it when I heard that.
1:08
SPEAKER_00: I was like, nah, I'm not having that.
1:09
SPEAKER_00: It's unbelievable.
1:11
SPEAKER_00: But I I think even in a short period of time in charge, that's the sort of thing you expect them to come out with now, isn't it?
1:18
SPEAKER_00: Aye, I'm not a big fan of this.
1:20
SPEAKER_01: No one's wonderful to watch this.
1:21
SPEAKER_01: No, not at all.
1:22
SPEAKER_01: Like this year's just like Arsenal won it, and it's just the way they won it as well.
1:26
SPEAKER_01: City have fell off.
1:28
SPEAKER_01: There's nothing the whole the whole exciting part is like Tottenham maybe going down.
1:32
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, the other end yeah.
1:33
SPEAKER_03: Nothing else is really like even the Champions League race, Liverpool watching that crap.
1:39
SPEAKER_03: Um you ever been refereed by Paul Tierney?
1:43
SPEAKER_01: Nah, I don't think so.
1:44
SPEAKER_00: I've got uh just a quick story about referees though, you like this.
1:49
SPEAKER_00: Um Mike Dean refed us against against Middlesbrough in the FA Cup third round, and I got a yellow card after seven minutes.
1:57
SPEAKER_00: Remember Ali Adair?
1:58
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, quick.
1:59
SPEAKER_00: Well he knocked it past us.
2:00
SPEAKER_00: I thought, I ain't chasing you in front of all these.
2:02
SPEAKER_00: Was it at the riverside about 30,000?
2:04
SPEAKER_00: I thought I'm not chasing him, so I've tripped him up and he's yellow carded me.
2:08
SPEAKER_00: So we've about five minutes left, Stuart Downey's got it in the corner, and I've whipped him up.
2:12
SPEAKER_00: And I thought, and he's come towards us, and do you know what he said to you?
2:15
SPEAKER_00: When because it's your big day, and because you're a nobody, I'm gonna let you off.
2:20
SPEAKER_00: That's class to it for me.
2:21
SPEAKER_00: That's very good.
2:24
SPEAKER_03: I was on it.
2:26
SPEAKER_00: I was like, Cheers, Mike.
2:27
SPEAKER_03: It's funny one week, Mike Dean starting on Sky.
2:30
SPEAKER_03: Fair enough.
2:31
SPEAKER_03: The next week his teeth are like absolutely on a flight to turn the top 15 spins with a few days.
2:58
SPEAKER_01: So yeah, Joel T and E clown.
3:00
SPEAKER_01: Oh the man that the the manager, Chelsea manager, if we go back onto him, mate, honestly.
3:05
SPEAKER_01: Even like remember he was moaning about the boys warming up and half and stuff, he's out.
3:09
SPEAKER_01: What was it, the goalkeeper or something that was like which is standard?
3:12
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, they were kicking the ball.
3:13
SPEAKER_01: Like the goalkeeping coach, like always.
3:15
SPEAKER_01: Like they always do, they're still the way.
3:18
SPEAKER_03: You know what though?
3:19
SPEAKER_03: I liked him as a player, and I liked him when he was the underdog of managers of like hull and that.
3:24
SPEAKER_03: And then it just seems to me the field have got to be this sort of character now to manage in the Premier League.
3:30
SPEAKER_03: Like, surely he goes home at night and goes, I don't really feel like that.
3:33
SPEAKER_03: I do.
3:34
SPEAKER_03: Switch it off, in it.
3:35
SPEAKER_01: As soon as you touch the door, just switch off, innit?
3:37
SPEAKER_03: Around the dining room table, him and his family round the tail, like that.
3:41
SPEAKER_03: Respect the jumping.
3:43
SPEAKER_03: Young gets caught in the middle.
3:46
SPEAKER_01: So but it's just his whole demeanour uh now.
3:50
SPEAKER_01: He's trying to be like over think it.
3:52
SPEAKER_01: I overthink it.
3:53
SPEAKER_01: He's trying to be convinced everybody he's really intelligent, he's really like philosophy of football and all this.
3:58
SPEAKER_01: Like you can tell the way he speaks, do you mean like respect the ball, mate?
4:01
SPEAKER_01: There's it's multi-ball system, mate.
4:03
SPEAKER_01: There's 20 balls you're in the side of the pick.
4:05
SPEAKER_03: What ball is it you're respecting?
4:07
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, second one, Canvo or Cavo, who was speaking about Crystal Palace celebrating the red card.
4:15
SPEAKER_03: Now I don't mind it if everyone in the Premier League done it because you want to win so much, but it just seems these players these days, like it was a wee bit like don't get me wrong, that if you see the red coming out, you're ah yes, like come on or whatever.
4:27
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
4:27
SPEAKER_01: Like not that full-on.
4:29
SPEAKER_01: He's literally down, he's he's giving it the old Donald Trump.
4:32
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
4:32
SPEAKER_03: Like anyone listening who's not seen it or watching it, leads player gets a yellow, it looks like the ref's gonna miss it, gives them a second yellow, looks like he hasn't remembered, gives him the red, and this lad's like Google, he's absolutely celebrating, like longer than scored a goal.
4:47
SPEAKER_01: It's a good what seven, eight seconds or something, right?
4:50
SPEAKER_01: A fist pump or whatever, but yeah, claim.
4:53
SPEAKER_03: Do you want the third one?
4:54
SPEAKER_03: Go on, Alex Barty.
4:57
SPEAKER_03: Now you I hope you don't.
4:58
SPEAKER_03: If you know this name, we'll wrap up this pod now.
5:01
SPEAKER_03: Go on.
5:02
SPEAKER_03: He's a football content creator.
5:04
SPEAKER_03: Oh no, I don't know him.
5:06
SPEAKER_03: On TikTok.
5:07
SPEAKER_01: Where's the governance?
5:08
SPEAKER_03: This was only brought to my attention by you know that Carol Prince who we spoke about?
5:12
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
5:12
SPEAKER_03: Who absolutely annihilates anyone who's lied on podcasts?
5:15
SPEAKER_03: Yes.
5:15
SPEAKER_01: Is it HMLC?
5:17
SPEAKER_03: That boy?
5:17
SPEAKER_03: So he brought him to my attention.
5:19
SPEAKER_03: So Alex Barty was going on about the worst ever players in the Premier League, and you saw how he was on um Jeffrey Schloop.
5:28
SPEAKER_03: So he's won the Premier League as an eagle.
5:30
SPEAKER_03: He's had a career, he's played like whatever games.
5:33
SPEAKER_03: And he says, but taking the taking the worst, it's Mark All Brighton.
5:38
SPEAKER_03: Who played nearly every game for Leicester when they won the Premier League, played over 325 Premier League games.
5:46
SPEAKER_03: And this kid who's about 21 would never even have seen him play it.
5:49
SPEAKER_03: He's trying to get hits off talking about that.
5:52
SPEAKER_03: Gimp.
5:54
SPEAKER_00: I hate that sort of thing.
5:55
SPEAKER_00: It's scamless.
5:56
SPEAKER_01: Like they've got no right to do it.
5:57
SPEAKER_01: Nah, they don't realise like to play at that level, even one game.
6:01
SPEAKER_03: Just don't punish the football card, just go out and hammer people, like you know what?
6:04
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they've got no problem with that.
6:06
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
6:06
SPEAKER_03: But then he's classing himself as football content.
6:09
SPEAKER_01: To bring it, that's what I don't like.
6:10
SPEAKER_01: Like you can people's actions and stuff, you can have a debate about it, like we've just done there.
6:15
SPEAKER_01: But to downgrade like his career and like the percentages of hitting that level is unbelievable.
6:21
SPEAKER_00: Like hard.
6:22
SPEAKER_00: Like you just said there, like you realise how good they are when you play against them.
6:26
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
6:27
SPEAKER_00: Because I I I when I played against Sundan in Middlesbrough two years in a row, like in the FA Cup third round.
6:32
SPEAKER_00: They're so good, like athletic.
6:36
SPEAKER_00: The first touch is always uh like nearly perfect in the midfield.
6:39
SPEAKER_00: Like you just can't get near them physically.
6:46
SPEAKER_03: If you looked at him on the pitch, um I think it looks like it looks like I wouldn't say but you'd look at him compared to those, and you'd go, probably not the most athletic.
6:57
SPEAKER_03: We had a corner once, right?
6:58
SPEAKER_03: It's put in and he was up for the corner, and we broke, and he literally like a deer just went to the street.
7:04
SPEAKER_03: Oh, just the way to cover the ground.
7:05
SPEAKER_03: Just cover the ground.
7:06
SPEAKER_03: Janice was the same.
7:07
SPEAKER_03: I played against Janice.
7:08
SPEAKER_03: Jeez, so stun.
7:10
SPEAKER_03: Playing against Barnes v.
7:12
SPEAKER_03: Notten and Forest, Bobby Robson has come to look it, and I got John Carver went looking at you as well.
7:18
SPEAKER_03: So it was me v Janice.
7:20
SPEAKER_03: And you know what?
7:21
SPEAKER_03: I got the better of Janice.
7:23
SPEAKER_03: But the thing was, like, when I'm running back from a corner, I'm shaking my head and like taking out a million stops.
7:31
SPEAKER_03: He just went, but as well, I was 22, he was what, 17, 18?
7:34
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, exactly.
7:35
SPEAKER_03: And then it was amazing that boy Robson bought him and just put him straight in.
7:39
SPEAKER_00: Well, he came a few months before I left.
7:41
SPEAKER_00: He signed as an 18-year-old kid and he was like sticks in.
7:44
SPEAKER_00: But you could see after about 10-15 minutes, he was unbelievable.
7:48
SPEAKER_03: My best story about Jermaine Janice, there'd just be a shop in your castle, flannels.
7:52
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's just to be cruiser views.
7:55
SPEAKER_03: And he was only eight lean and I walked in on a Saturday getting a few gear, must be like in the summer, and he was sat on one of the couches and he had the blogs.
8:03
SPEAKER_03: So I knew a couple of my mates bringing this stuff over for us.
8:05
SPEAKER_01: No, personal shops right at that level.
8:08
SPEAKER_03: So yeah, Mark Albright in class.
8:11
SPEAKER_03: When Gordon Stracken uh got the job at Middlesbrough, he walked into the training ground, didn't he?
8:17
SPEAKER_03: And he dropped a bit of paper and it had his uh targets on.
8:22
SPEAKER_03: And it was Lee Miller, a few others in Scotland, and he Halliday, and he had Mark Albrighton on.
8:28
SPEAKER_03: At the time, was it Villa?
8:29
SPEAKER_03: He was a youngster at the year.
8:31
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he was, yeah.
8:32
SPEAKER_03: Um, and he just couldn't get in at Villa, I don't think, because Ashley Young and stuff like that.
8:36
SPEAKER_03: So he made a couple of moves and he was uh yeah, but you've seen all the comments in Denise for Carol Prince, like Leicester fans and ex-players going on there.
8:45
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
8:46
SPEAKER_03: Mad.
8:47
SPEAKER_03: Right?
8:48
SPEAKER_03: So weekend, two wins, pair of winners sitting here.
8:56
SPEAKER_03: The assistant manager Skip, Balomino United player Dylan.
9:00
SPEAKER_03: There's been mixed results.
9:02
SPEAKER_03: Actually, the results have been crap, lads.
9:04
SPEAKER_03: I've I've been I've been worried for years to be honest.
9:06
SPEAKER_03: I've been worried for we get more time to do this, but uh Skip.
9:10
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, 2-1 win 92nd or 93rd minute.
9:13
SPEAKER_00: Um but just the way it happened was was brilliant because it was one one half time, scrappy game.
9:19
SPEAKER_00: Um we'd done well in parts, um, and we brought a lad called Rob McCartney on, he hasn't played for two years, um, and he's worked his balls off to get back.
9:28
SPEAKER_00: Um he's done so much on his own, and he's had help off a lad called Shaw.
9:32
SPEAKER_00: Um and a lot of lads wouldn't have come back from two years out, especially at that level with with working and other things in life that have maybe just chucked it because he's in he's in his 30s, but he never he never gave up, he was determined to get back and he was ready to go Saturday, so we put him on after 70 minutes.
9:48
SPEAKER_00: He came on and he made a difference, and it's landed to him in the 93rd minute, and he's just put in the bottom corner.
9:54
SPEAKER_00: And I was halfway up towards the corner floor, but realised I can't go all the way and I come back.
9:58
SPEAKER_03: They wouldn't be on the way back to kick off.
10:02
SPEAKER_00: And I wasn't like the calves were twinging a bit, so I thought he was that now.
10:05
SPEAKER_00: No, he's on he was center half at the time, but he never celebrated, he's only one.
10:08
SPEAKER_00: So I uh I was delighted for him, and everyone was like connected with the club.
10:12
SPEAKER_00: And after we he got a stand oversion off everyone, and he was he was delighted.
10:16
SPEAKER_00: But it's when uh when that happens, it's it's amazing.
10:18
SPEAKER_00: So I swore for the all that hard work two years.
10:21
SPEAKER_00: Like said too many won us is going against the winner, and he says, Ah, I hope so, and he did.
10:25
SPEAKER_00: Brilliant.
10:25
SPEAKER_00: Ah brilliant, mate, brilliant.
10:27
SPEAKER_01: Um yeah, we won as well, 2-1.
10:29
SPEAKER_01: Kind of scrappy game.
10:31
SPEAKER_01: Our pitch, I've said before, like our pitch is dreadful now, it's just the rain and stuff, it's not draining properly, so it's just soft underneath, and it's hard to play.
10:40
SPEAKER_01: So it was a scrappy game, two teams kind of playing more direct and setting balls, all that kind of stuff, a lot of free kicks.
10:46
SPEAKER_01: But found myself two and a half, good first goal, and then we got a penalty, two and all, kinda seen the game out, and then we let them back in it with another um we gave them a penalty as well.
10:56
SPEAKER_01: Did you just do with Carnival United?
10:57
SPEAKER_03: Did you sit back?
10:58
SPEAKER_01: No, actually, it was just we just kind of kept playing, I know we'll get there.
11:02
SPEAKER_01: But we will, yeah.
11:05
SPEAKER_01: But we just um we we played the conditions to be fair, like on the pitch and stuff, and played more direct, and then we kinda dallied on the ball a little bit, got lost possession in our half, they got a penalty, and then you know what it's like the last into the last five, six minutes.
11:19
SPEAKER_01: It's but um put us under pressure and we defended well.
11:24
SPEAKER_01: We we had two blocks in the last literally last kick of the ball on the goal line, thrown thrown myself in front of the ball.
11:29
SPEAKER_01: So managed to see it out, which was good.
11:31
SPEAKER_01: That kind of puts a wee bit of breathing space between us and teams below us, so happy days.
11:36
SPEAKER_03: Nice one.
11:37
SPEAKER_03: I was at the bare knuckle boxing, wasn't it?
11:40
SPEAKER_03: Local lad Kieran Sewell fighting.
11:43
SPEAKER_03: To be honest, it got I took a bit of time listening to them crunches at the start.
11:47
SPEAKER_03: I thought, is this not for me?
11:48
SPEAKER_03: Is this for me?
11:49
SPEAKER_03: But it was a bit I was had great seats and it was all with the Carlisle people, so all his family, all his friends and stuff.
11:56
SPEAKER_03: There was a few I'd got more expensive seats down ringside.
11:59
SPEAKER_03: But you know what?
12:00
SPEAKER_03: What came out of it all like there's just lads training, working hard, and the respect between both fighters.
12:08
SPEAKER_03: There wasn't any trash talking out like that.
12:10
SPEAKER_03: It was just like shaking hands, getting on with it, all the trainers afterwards, and they were mashed up.
12:15
SPEAKER_03: But Kieran lost on points, but rightly so.
12:21
SPEAKER_03: The promoter jumped in straight after the fight and said, That's unbelievable, we're gonna double your purse.
12:26
SPEAKER_03: So I got double their money.
12:28
SPEAKER_03: And the lad he fought is uh he's well schooled, he's had loads of fights and that.
12:33
SPEAKER_03: But Kieran's third fight and that the whole talk around the arena, and from all the fighters that night were like, This kid's a real.
12:39
SPEAKER_00: I've seen a few highlights and just how what they do to each other's unreal.
12:43
SPEAKER_00: I never seen his face off towards Jesus, but respect to the man.
12:46
SPEAKER_03: I think he's a bit down yesterday, but the ball be all the adrenaline coming coming out and that.
12:51
SPEAKER_03: But when he looks back and and thinks what you're doing, but the support for what for everyone in there was good.
12:57
SPEAKER_03: Um the the atmosphere in there was ticking time bombs.
13:01
SPEAKER_03: Was it hard?
13:02
SPEAKER_03: But you were looking at you were like, oh my god.
13:04
SPEAKER_03: The queue going in, I went foo anyone likes the match, yeah.
13:09
SPEAKER_03: It's a few boys giving that cello boxing and that the best thing was there must be a load of lads in there trying to be boxers because the drink queues were on the pick and mix, everyone was on there.
13:19
SPEAKER_03: Pick and mix was massive.
13:21
SPEAKER_03: But I'll give Utility Arena a shout out here, get some security, it's serve yourself pick and mix.
13:27
SPEAKER_03: Oh, they're not like like the pints.
13:29
SPEAKER_03: This is why humans are going out that needs demons back in.
13:31
SPEAKER_03: Serving pin, serving the pick mix.
13:33
SPEAKER_03: People just coming in, gang about 17 quids worth, just walked off, just filling a bag.
13:37
SPEAKER_03: Just the call out lads, everyone.
13:39
SPEAKER_03: But yeah, so we're sorted.
13:42
SPEAKER_03: Um, shall we crack on?
13:43
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, episode seven.
13:47
SPEAKER_03: Episode seven, two wins.
13:49
SPEAKER_03: Um, I've got a quick uh we had a quick text in last week about Bobby Robson.
13:54
SPEAKER_03: We need a story, Skip.
13:55
SPEAKER_00: Oh, we did, we did.
13:56
SPEAKER_00: Well, when he was the manager, he was in into his uh early 70s, wasn't he?
14:00
SPEAKER_00: So um he got a few people's names wrong and stuff like that.
14:04
SPEAKER_00: So he used to call Shola Carl Court and Carl Court.
14:08
SPEAKER_00: He couldn't not be on he used to like, remember one time one I can't remember who's he's missed the target and he shouted like Corey hit the target and like he stood next to him.
14:19
SPEAKER_00: He's like, that's Shola.
14:22
SPEAKER_00: And then he went to him and well, which one are you then?
14:24
SPEAKER_00: He was like, well, obviously, I've carl caught, you know what I mean?
14:26
SPEAKER_00: But anyway, so Keaton Dyers um had a big top of the range BMW and he's written off on the time bridge, it's made the front of the the the national papers.
14:35
SPEAKER_00: So we've all been called in.
14:37
SPEAKER_00: Um obviously I'm just at the back listening in and he's going ballistic at him because he's got in a few scrapes, this and the other.
14:43
SPEAKER_00: And he ended up by saying, I'm I'm fucking sick of here and all that.
14:47
SPEAKER_00: And he says, and and the last thing I need is you showing off on your BMX.
14:52
SPEAKER_00: And everyone's like, yeah, so Mick, I think he was first, whispered in his ears, like told him like, you know.
14:58
SPEAKER_00: What were the boys?
14:58
SPEAKER_00: What were the boys doing when he's like you just see people like with looking away and that his shoulders going on all that, and then he just but he always puts it right, a little smile on his face, but you should have a fucking BMX, shouldn't you?
15:08
SPEAKER_00: Because you know good in a BMW, so he uh I writ his BMW off on the time ridge, but he was like his he was like his slong lost son, do you know what I mean?
15:16
SPEAKER_00: He he used to he used to, but he was some player by the time.
15:19
SPEAKER_03: They taught me something about Bellamy, he was sick of Bellamy, absolutely sick of him.
15:22
SPEAKER_03: Bobby Robson was hammering him to like the staff, going, I'm fucking sick of him.
15:26
SPEAKER_03: It just so happens, Bellamy walked in and he went, This lad, yeah, lads, this lad's gonna win us the game on Saturday.
15:34
SPEAKER_03: Come here, you arm rounder, and just played class on Saturday.
15:39
SPEAKER_03: So even though he was getting on his nerves, he knew he could manage it.
15:42
SPEAKER_00: But he was another one, that's why they sort of got away with it because they produced every game.
15:45
SPEAKER_00: Bellamy, Dyer, like they used to just be the best players by a mile, most games, so they could get away with being naughty lads.
15:51
SPEAKER_00: Do you know what I mean?
15:51
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, little up, little insight into football in general, professional football.
15:56
SPEAKER_03: Heard a little story on under the cotch with Jack Colbax.
15:58
SPEAKER_03: Jack Colbax just retired, has he?
16:00
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, uh started some of the Nennebny Cattle, Killermat Lad from where I'm from.
16:04
SPEAKER_03: Um Apple crumble in the pre-match, or uh pre-match the night before?
16:09
SPEAKER_03: The night before, and I was thinking in my head before even told it.
16:12
SPEAKER_03: I used to run up quick and scrape the crumble.
16:15
SPEAKER_03: No one nice cooked apple.
16:16
SPEAKER_03: Well, sure people do, I don't, but uh, and he's he was saying it was like a race to go up there, scrape the crumble off, and like the manners used to get them, it was just an apple.
16:25
SPEAKER_01: Oh fuzz I've seen boys up taking their dessert, right?
16:30
SPEAKER_01: Putting it on the table before they've even got nothing just to make sure they've got it.
16:34
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
16:34
SPEAKER_03: John Parkham has seen because it used to be an inch of crumble, like like on his pool, and then just a little bit of custard.
16:41
SPEAKER_03: But I that's a little of uh an update and a little update as well on Harvey Mix.
16:46
SPEAKER_03: So if people didn't listen last week, Mick Holland, my ex-mas hurt at uh Sunderland ran the dressing room.
16:52
SPEAKER_03: Harvey Mix, as in Harvey Nicks, as he uh used to sell some fake bars.
16:57
SPEAKER_03: So you know, we feel a bit bad about him screaming and made the you know, the the groundsman every time he walked in the ugly groundsman.
17:05
SPEAKER_03: He's so like the groundsman like went and dug deep, didn't he?
17:11
SPEAKER_03: Lost loads of weight on a like health kick.
17:14
SPEAKER_03: I came in one day like that, like down again.
17:17
SPEAKER_03: Obviously, Mick's went, huh?
17:19
SPEAKER_03: What's the matter?
17:20
SPEAKER_03: And he's right, my lasses left us, and like, what you've lost all this weight?
17:24
SPEAKER_03: He went, he went, yeah.
17:26
SPEAKER_03: Just my head looks even bigger now.
17:30
SPEAKER_03: And then you think the lads would rally round him.
17:33
SPEAKER_03: Oh, no channel hard.
17:34
SPEAKER_03: There's a couple of mascots in getting the the thing he's saying, Nick Hollingwell.
17:38
SPEAKER_03: Dave, get out, you're scaring the bens.
17:43
SPEAKER_03: Alright, but anyway, please like and subscribe on YouTube and our other platforms.
17:48
SPEAKER_03: Share it as well because it really helps us.
17:51
SPEAKER_03: And as we said, episode seven, three in the middle, brought to you by two former players, Marcus Boyd, Chris Lumsden, former Sunderland, former Newcastle, former Carlisle, former Carlisle, former Portvale, me, former Bonsley.
18:09
SPEAKER_03: Missed that one out.
18:10
SPEAKER_03: And as we spoke about, Dylan now playing for Palomino United, but ex Celtic, Aberdeen, Hibbs, Forest Green, Carlisle, Aberdeen, Carlisle, and represented Scotland in international.
18:24
SPEAKER_03: Forget that.
18:25
SPEAKER_03: So a quick thank you to the sponsor.
18:27
SPEAKER_03: This week's sponsor is Kieran Peacock, who is managing director of the Peacock Precision Services, which includes engineering, surveying, and property development.
18:36
SPEAKER_03: They've just finished major works on the new bypass, the Carlisle Southern Link Road.
18:41
SPEAKER_03: You've used that, won't you?
18:42
SPEAKER_03: Definitely, yeah.
18:43
SPEAKER_03: Absolute lifesaver.
18:43
SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
18:44
SPEAKER_03: Which is brilliant for them considering you know the work they do and they've had a massive say on that.
18:49
SPEAKER_03: They've also, on their property side, have bought upstairs, they've bought upstairs a pizza express and Carlisle Centre, Lauder Street, and turning them luxury flats.
18:58
SPEAKER_03: So they'll be decent.
18:59
SPEAKER_03: Great for the nightlife.
19:00
SPEAKER_03: Location.
19:01
SPEAKER_03: Location.
19:01
SPEAKER_03: What have you got one of them back in the streets?
19:04
SPEAKER_03: So we'll go and follow them on Insta as well.
19:06
SPEAKER_03: Peacock Precision and Peacock Properties, there on Insta.
19:10
SPEAKER_03: Uh thank you so much, Kieran.
19:12
SPEAKER_03: Much appreciated.
19:13
SPEAKER_03: Because as we said, this sponsorship keeps us going.
19:16
SPEAKER_03: It does, thank you very much.
19:17
SPEAKER_03: Housekeeping Insta.
19:19
SPEAKER_03: We're three at the middle, eight, and the email.
19:21
SPEAKER_03: We're having a few emails in, you know.
19:23
SPEAKER_03: Three in the middle at yahoo.com, and that's a three as in the word three.
19:29
SPEAKER_03: So let's crack on and let's spend a little bit of time on Carlisle United because we'll go straight to a question from Alex MacDonald.
19:38
SPEAKER_03: After listening last week and hearing the views of some of the guys on Radio Cumbria regarding Mark Hughes sounding frustrated at lack of transfer activity, do you think the club are not wanting to be a meal ticket for players anymore with the big contracts?
19:54
SPEAKER_03: Or with Hughes being on a rumoured big deal and it coming to an end, with some fans becoming frustrated with him, do you think there is a bigger picture to this?
20:03
SPEAKER_03: So basically, are the club cutting contracts for the good of the club or pushing Hughes towards the door?
20:09
SPEAKER_03: Or both on on?
20:12
SPEAKER_01: I I think we touched on it a little bit before, don't we?
20:14
SPEAKER_01: I think the club it looks like from the outside that they've made a stance where they're not going to go out and just throw money about, which they've probably done for the last couple of years, and probably bought a few players in that were on big money and not really produced on the pitch as what they would have liked.
20:29
SPEAKER_01: So I think they've probably made a stance on not splashing them, splashing the cash.
20:35
SPEAKER_01: But I can see obviously as a manager you probably want as many good players as you can.
20:40
SPEAKER_03: And a lot of his players weren't his.
21:38
SPEAKER_01: But it's again, yeah, it's almost like top heavy at the top.
21:41
SPEAKER_01: Do you mean like just try to get as many good players as you can?
21:44
SPEAKER_03: He was backed as well a bit in the summer.
21:46
SPEAKER_03: He was backed because he had the Linnies, you have the Con Clarks, now Azure Boy, and uh Mugabe, it's a couple of midfielders as well.
21:54
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that had a left back.
21:56
SPEAKER_03: So he has been backed.
21:57
SPEAKER_03: Uh it's I'm torn, I'm torn.
21:59
SPEAKER_03: I think it's a shit.
22:00
SPEAKER_03: League.
22:00
SPEAKER_03: I think Rosdale and York are good.
22:03
SPEAKER_03: I think the rest are bang average.
22:06
SPEAKER_03: And I think if there was better teams, we'd be further down.
22:10
SPEAKER_03: I think we're struggling.
22:11
SPEAKER_00: I agree with that.
22:12
SPEAKER_00: I think they're lucky that there's only two teams that are sort of head and shoulders above the rest.
22:17
SPEAKER_00: Um and the rest aren't great.
22:19
SPEAKER_00: I mean they're doing the best to just give each other third position, aren't they?
22:23
SPEAKER_00: Carlisle and Borum Wood.
22:24
SPEAKER_00: If one loses, the other loses.
22:25
SPEAKER_00: If one wins, one wins.
22:26
SPEAKER_00: Like it's it's a bit but Carlisle have got that little bit of a little bit of breathing space, but they can still be caught because you've seen like on Saturday they've been beat off Tamworth.
22:35
SPEAKER_00: By all accounts, it's not being great.
22:37
SPEAKER_03: And I heard things after the radio, on the radio afterwards, and stuff like, well, it's alright because Borumwood lost.
22:42
SPEAKER_03: It's not alright getting beat at Tamworth.
22:44
SPEAKER_03: You know, run the balls off them this way.
22:46
SPEAKER_01: When would that have been accepted?
22:47
SPEAKER_03: Like Hughes' interview was the first time I've heard him go, but poor.
22:51
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I don't think it gets animated.
22:52
SPEAKER_03: I don't think he gets angry.
22:53
SPEAKER_00: It's not his nature, is it?
22:54
SPEAKER_00: To like his interviews come across as not like he never looks raging or he never looks buzzing.
23:02
SPEAKER_03: I wouldn't mind playing for I think Hughes would have been perfect for my team because he's a bit like Simon that fact, or is this old school football?
23:10
SPEAKER_03: You didn't want to be given so much information.
23:12
SPEAKER_03: Sort of left to it.
23:13
SPEAKER_03: You're just like, there's your good players, go for it.
23:16
SPEAKER_03: I don't even think he's telling them.
23:18
SPEAKER_03: I know his substitutions are a bit where he's taking a defender off uh forward off and putting a defender on.
23:24
SPEAKER_03: I get that, that's his negative, but I think as players you should still be able to sort it out.
23:29
SPEAKER_03: I just think they keep he doesn't like it when they keep running over all the time for information.
23:33
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, but it's everything before the team.
23:36
SPEAKER_01: I don't think that's ever been his style, is it?
23:38
SPEAKER_01: Like from the time I was there and looking at his team, like he's he's not like a coach.
23:42
SPEAKER_01: Do you I mean he's not gonna coach the team to so when he's managed higher, has he just had coaches to do that and he's done your sort of setback and just by all accounts that's he's that's probably his style, like yeah, of being at the top clubs where one you've got top players who can manage that on the pitch and maybe better coaches as well.
24:01
SPEAKER_01: And I and I know Gav's brilliant coaching, do you know?
24:06
SPEAKER_01: So I'd I'd I've not seen that, but I think from Mark Hughes it's all like he's very much of a manager, he's not a coach.
24:15
SPEAKER_01: But I I feel watching the games, slim of the games that I get to watch, you can see you can see that they're not coached.
24:22
SPEAKER_01: They're not coached, they they kind of they turn over the ball, they play long, turn over the ball, they have possession, let the team build on them, they sit back, and boys are kind of just reacting, they pass it, they don't really and and I don't I don't think they're going to turn into like a York or a Rochdale where they're like now like drilled to a T, but some sort of like style and some sort of like with a team you could watch Calais every week and you don't really know what you're watching, do you know?
24:46
SPEAKER_01: It's just like result pending.
24:48
SPEAKER_03: I think sometimes though I watch shoes on the sideline and he is saying pass it a bit more or go forward a bit more.
24:53
SPEAKER_03: I just think he gets yeah, it gets it maybe that's the modern it's not for him.
24:57
SPEAKER_03: I don't know.
24:58
SPEAKER_03: Like I think when you get these managers in like Williamson, who are coach, coach, coach, coach, coach, then when it comes to a Saturday and the other team kind of obliterate that philosophy, that's when you need more and you need more from players.
25:15
SPEAKER_03: I think Hughes is kind of that's that's it right.
25:17
SPEAKER_03: We've coached all week.
25:18
SPEAKER_03: You should know how to win football.
25:19
SPEAKER_00: But when you say you need more, if they like nullify what you're trying to do, that's when is that plan B coming from the side, or should they should should they think, right?
25:28
SPEAKER_00: Well, if we can't do this, we've got to do something else.
25:31
SPEAKER_03: Maybe I'm old school, I think a lot has to come from the side.
25:33
SPEAKER_00: Or do them sort of managers now like Williamson just say no, even though it's not working, you keep trying to do the same thing.
25:38
SPEAKER_01: They're fine with that because I've seen it, and obviously it didn't go to his plan as they wanted uh with Williamson, but over the course of a season, if we play like this over the course of the season, we'll pick up more results than not than not.
25:52
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
25:52
SPEAKER_01: Like if we don't get me wrong, we'll come up against a team where we'll try to play it for the back and they catch us a few times or they go long and they cause they scope your corner or whatever it is and they might beat us.
26:01
SPEAKER_01: But if we keep playing a certain way over the course of the season, like your Yorks and Rochdale, if we get it right, we'll dominate 90% of the games.
26:09
SPEAKER_01: But not everybody needs to play like that.
26:10
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
26:11
SPEAKER_01: No the players, though.
26:13
SPEAKER_01: Well, I kinda I know what you mean.
26:15
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it didn't.
26:16
SPEAKER_03: I don't think the Vell was comfortable.
26:17
SPEAKER_03: I don't think Hayden was comfortable.
26:20
SPEAKER_03: I think they were comfortable in other ways.
26:22
SPEAKER_03: I think they were attacking it.
26:24
SPEAKER_03: I've seen them play and have attacked the ball to get goals in the other losses and win first contact.
26:28
SPEAKER_03: But I just felt at that point giving it to them too, it's like and I just feel it's like this were huge now.
26:34
SPEAKER_03: I think the players need to um maybe the players.
26:38
SPEAKER_01: Nah, the players that I seen I watched the highlights obviously because I was playing, but I seen the second goal, the ball goes out for a f uh a throw-in, they all turn their back, the boy picks it up and throws it down the line, they don't really react, the ball comes in, and then as I've shown you the replay, it shows you the Calaya boys like walking back to the halfway line.
26:56
SPEAKER_01: I can't remember midfielder or whatever it was, and he's literally just no emotion, just walking back to the halfway line, no nothing.
27:03
SPEAKER_01: And I'm thinking like you've just the part-time, aren't they, Tim Waff?
27:07
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah.
27:08
SPEAKER_01: Part-time.
27:08
SPEAKER_01: So you've you've been one up, now you're two-one down against a part-time team where you're supposed to be one of the big dogs in the league.
27:14
SPEAKER_01: You sort of all switch off for a throw-in, and nobody's said a thing.
27:17
SPEAKER_01: There's no emotion, there's no nothing.
27:19
SPEAKER_01: It's just like taking somebody else to fly out in hell.
27:20
SPEAKER_01: Oh fucking.
27:21
SPEAKER_01: So I mean you're thinking like maybe maybe I didn't see his reaction, maybe he is like usually saying the halves are always, but like as a team, it should be like, lads, what are we doing?
27:29
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's not good not, yeah.
27:30
SPEAKER_03: I was gonna say we give Feeney a lot of credit, but he gets pinned on the first goal as well.
27:34
SPEAKER_01: And I think Is that the one the boy knocks it down?
27:37
SPEAKER_03: I'm a crowd player, and I'm this is a this is a problem I've got.
27:41
SPEAKER_03: You see, McGarvey gets hammered off the supporters, say, against the South End.
27:45
SPEAKER_03: He then plays well against an older shot, and then the next thing they're saying, ah, he's good, he's turned the corner.
27:50
SPEAKER_03: But you can turn a corner for these players, seem like to turn a corner for two games, and then there's a crack game, and the consistency's just not there, and as I say, the the league's doing us favours, I think the league's doing us massive favours.
28:03
SPEAKER_03: I think if we're in league two, we get punished a bit more.
28:05
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I don't think these players can if we went up, I think you'd have to go again.
28:09
SPEAKER_03: I think you'd have to start again.
28:10
SPEAKER_03: With the same group to go up the yeah.
28:12
SPEAKER_01: But if you're going to play this style, yeah, where you're more direct and you need to have players and as a as a team that are solid.
28:20
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
28:21
SPEAKER_01: Like at the back, we're solid, midfield, we're solid, and we get the ball forward, we get up well, we get wingers, we get the ball in the box.
28:27
SPEAKER_01: It's almost like they're a route one team, but they're kind of soft at times.
28:31
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
28:31
SPEAKER_01: Like we can put you can put the balls in the box in a one first and second contacts.
28:34
SPEAKER_01: Do you know?
28:34
SPEAKER_01: So it's not like right, we're we're a direct team, but we're absolutely solid here.
28:38
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, do you know what I mean?
28:39
SPEAKER_03: It's it's a mental season because who we got?
28:42
SPEAKER_03: We got um minds went blank.
28:45
SPEAKER_03: We got on Saturday, got a home game, haven't we?
28:47
SPEAKER_03: And that it's a it's a uh Boston, and that can get you out of jail, can't the next thing we win two or three-nil, and everyone's like, yeah, we are a good team, yeah.
28:55
SPEAKER_03: But then the next week it would come against someone away and uh Halifax or someone on Tuesday night, which we got coming up, and that'll be a tough game.
29:02
SPEAKER_00: Well, I I heard on the radio on uh on Saturday after the game that they're a they're a hard team to like as a fan.
29:09
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but did you hear that?
29:10
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, like they're not very and I think you can sort of relate to that.
29:13
SPEAKER_00: I mean, if you think about teams in the past, Carlisle have always been like your team, for example, um teams before like Keith Carlisle's team, yeah, teams like that.
29:22
SPEAKER_00: Just as always an odd player, yeah.
29:24
SPEAKER_01: Do you think people are going because they're so loyal?
29:27
SPEAKER_03: Oh the th they yeah, they're gonna be.
29:28
SPEAKER_03: And you'll never turn the back have it?
29:30
SPEAKER_01: And that that's everything to them, yeah.
29:31
SPEAKER_01: That's the that's the thing.
29:32
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
29:33
SPEAKER_01: Like they support them, no matter what.
29:34
SPEAKER_01: There's a few yeah.
29:35
SPEAKER_03: Are they going Keith Keith Millen?
29:37
SPEAKER_03: When Keith Millen before Simmel came in, say the the crowd was down to about three, and the mod that was it.
29:44
SPEAKER_03: And it hasn't been like that for a long time.
29:47
SPEAKER_03: That was I thought the club was gone.
29:48
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
29:49
SPEAKER_03: Wasn't far off, was it?
29:50
SPEAKER_03: No.
29:51
SPEAKER_01: But they're no going because like as you not like attractive football, but something to get behind.
29:56
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
29:57
SPEAKER_01: Like action and bit of grit and determination.
29:59
SPEAKER_01: Like it seems like every game that they're they're kind of like coming away and thinking that was a hard watch.
30:04
SPEAKER_01: Even games of winning, it's like we're we're two and a lot and then two each, or now we'll we'll we'll narrowly winning games, but we we sat back and let them into it and we we held on, and and it's like and it's mad, isn't it?
30:15
SPEAKER_00: Because when they're starting third in the league, and people are obviously calling for uses head of times, and he's not good enough and can't get behind display.
30:22
SPEAKER_00: When you're in third in the league, it's anonymous positive, isn't it?
30:24
SPEAKER_00: But it's it's not really on the hope.
30:26
SPEAKER_03: And you know the problem is, yeah, we'll probably go up.
30:30
SPEAKER_03: We'll probably finish third and we'll have a home game, we'll win.
30:34
SPEAKER_03: And none of this matters, I know.
30:35
SPEAKER_03: But Wembley will take thousands and thousands.
30:39
SPEAKER_03: And you'll hope players in our team have have played there or or have got the nouse and the experience to play there.
30:46
SPEAKER_01: So see see on that, see if they go up.
30:50
SPEAKER_01: Is he still the manager next year, do you think?
30:53
SPEAKER_01: And the players?
30:54
SPEAKER_03: I know I'm calling it Ellie does, but um I just feel like I feel that the vibe I get, I think this is Hughes probably done done and I think he sails off into the sunset with a promotion.
31:07
SPEAKER_03: If I think he goes either way, I think good night.
31:12
SPEAKER_00: I think the ideal finish for him would be winning the league and off you go.
31:16
SPEAKER_00: Um like you've just said there, yeah, with promotion.
31:19
SPEAKER_00: But like I say, if they stay if they go up or they don't, like you just said, I think he'll go.
31:25
SPEAKER_03: I think he needed another couple of years with the adrenaline, but he's got a great life even off the picture.
31:30
SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah, doesn't need it, does he?
31:32
SPEAKER_03: He doesn't need it, doesn't need us to lose.
31:35
SPEAKER_03: Needs to get in the more called caught.
31:36
SPEAKER_03: I think he rides off as a sunset either way.
31:38
SPEAKER_01: I just think from the fans' reactions and stuff, innit?
31:41
SPEAKER_01: It's just when everything calms down, obviously you get promoted, hopefully, and everything calms down, it's like right, going into league two.
31:48
SPEAKER_01: How do we go compete?
31:50
SPEAKER_01: I mean, how do we go like obviously you're normally probably expecting to be winning the league, but like how do we get close to them playoffs and build?
31:57
SPEAKER_01: And is there enough evidence this year?
31:59
SPEAKER_01: Because surely if they do go up, they're somehow they have to kick on a little bit again, don't they?
32:03
SPEAKER_00: Because they're back in the least a lot, though.
32:04
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, in the back end they've got.
32:05
SPEAKER_00: Oh, the Kyle just go up and just survive, they've got to sort of kick on, haven't they?
32:08
SPEAKER_03: But if they want a new manager, they they should be looking now.
32:12
SPEAKER_00: Oh yeah, I think what you agree, yeah.
32:14
SPEAKER_03: They're sounding people out to march, isn't it?
32:16
SPEAKER_03: Question from Mike Reed.
32:17
SPEAKER_03: At what point does Hughes stop being so negative and change the system and go to positive?
32:22
SPEAKER_03: And when do the players stop and think themselves we have to do something different during the game?
32:27
SPEAKER_03: Kind of touching it before, but for me it comes down to character that, isn't it?
32:33
SPEAKER_03: I just think the Hughes the only thing that I don't like what Hughes does is that he doesn't help himself when he takes a forward off and puts a defender on.
32:41
SPEAKER_03: For me, the players should be sorting it out themselves.
32:44
SPEAKER_03: There should be going for the third against South End quite early, um, getting 3-0 up or whatever.
32:50
SPEAKER_03: Is it a mindset?
32:52
SPEAKER_03: Gilead seems to think it's a player's mindset.
32:55
SPEAKER_03: I mean that's a player from the parks, ain't it?
32:57
SPEAKER_01: He's always gonna see that though, isn't he?
32:59
SPEAKER_01: He's always he's never gonna.
33:01
SPEAKER_01: I'm not saying he has blame the manager or whatever, like tactics, but you're never gonna commit and say, well, the manager told us just to to see it out or whatever.
33:08
SPEAKER_01: Now he's gonna always say as players take responsibility, which is which is true as well.
33:12
SPEAKER_01: You do need to use the one on the pitch, do you know what I mean?
33:15
SPEAKER_01: But everything comes down to the manager and the staff.
33:18
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
33:19
SPEAKER_01: Like the the information and the subs, as you said, like is it a positive or is that a kind of we're holding on?
33:24
SPEAKER_01: You see a cent half coming on, you you're you're seen out, aren't you?
33:28
SPEAKER_03: You're not like I think it did I think that when against the Graham with Hughes and one, I don't think you'd be that bothered.
33:34
SPEAKER_03: I think you'd go well done thinking outside the box.
33:36
SPEAKER_03: But when you get these coaches who you're doing data with all week, yeah, and you went against them, you're probably thinking, bloody hell.
33:44
SPEAKER_01: But but it's hard because you've got 11 players who all think a little bit differently from each other.
33:50
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
33:50
SPEAKER_01: You've got a few attacking players who usually worry, like let's get on the ball, let's get up the pitches, and then you've got centre half thinking, We got a clean shoot here, we've won the game.
33:58
SPEAKER_01: Correct.
33:58
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
33:59
SPEAKER_01: Like I've played with both, so it's like, and as a midfielder, I'm thinking if I'm there, I'm like, right, let's go get touches of the ball.
34:04
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
34:05
SPEAKER_01: And then you may get caught on it a few times, and the other one's thinking, stop taking chances, just put the ball in the channel.
34:09
SPEAKER_03: Like, so it's you could talk to a centre half who's used to play by Carlisle, and he'd say Con Clark's not doing enough, track him back, and then speak to someone like us, and we say, Well, Con Clark's not the team, you it's your job to get him the ball in the right area.
34:25
SPEAKER_03: So Con Clark's getting judged off a lot of people, half the fan base because they're defend for not tracking back.
34:31
SPEAKER_03: But isn't the team for these other players, defenders etc.
34:34
SPEAKER_03: to get him the ball?
34:35
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
34:37
SPEAKER_01: That was his game, wasn't it?
34:38
SPEAKER_00: Was getting on the ball.
34:38
SPEAKER_00: But even like you go down to our level, obviously, I'm on the sideline and you set them up and stuff, but if it's not working, you you do sort of think, well, look how the game's going, sort it out yourself like a jigger shape, but yeah, like you something if you change, but I mean like if you're under pressure, don't try and overplay.
34:54
SPEAKER_00: Like you've got to go like that's on Saturday, but get in behind and try and squeeze up and try and just kill the game a bit and get back into it.
35:01
SPEAKER_00: And that that's got that I think comes from them on the pitch.
35:03
SPEAKER_03: Do you remember Gary Jones played for Bradford a lot of games?
35:05
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, midfield yeah.
35:06
SPEAKER_03: Me and him sign for Barnes at the same time, both got good moves to the championship.
35:10
SPEAKER_03: But he went to player for Rochdale, like in Bradford for a lot of games.
35:13
SPEAKER_03: Really good play on that because he let League One, League Two.
35:16
SPEAKER_03: We played um Peterborough, and Jimmy Bullard was sharp as anything.
35:21
SPEAKER_03: Like, and I just read to him, like I'm on he was on Mars.
35:25
SPEAKER_03: He's too much at the minute.
35:27
SPEAKER_00: I played against him as well for Peterborough.
35:28
SPEAKER_03: And he says, Gaz, you you come and nail him so I can get on the ball.
35:31
SPEAKER_03: So Gaz followed him, and then the next thing Gaz has done him like standing over him.
35:35
SPEAKER_03: But it's just little things on the pitch like that.
35:37
SPEAKER_03: I go, have a swap over wingers.
35:39
SPEAKER_03: Now they're just looking over on and now maybe that's down to the manager and everything that you need thinkers on the chip stuff.
35:45
SPEAKER_03: Like I suspect Martin O'Neill.
35:47
SPEAKER_03: I don't know with him.
35:48
SPEAKER_03: He'd either go, That's brilliant, think outside the box, or he'd hammer you for being arrogant.
35:53
SPEAKER_01: So I can see why players are like I know, nah, definitely you need thinkers on the pitch like problem solving, don't you?
35:59
SPEAKER_01: As you said, he was giving you a problem, then you sell it.
36:03
SPEAKER_01: I mean, you're like, right, you form about and I'll I'll get on the ball.
36:06
SPEAKER_01: But yeah, that happened to us on Saturday where we we tried to they kind of sat off with a little bit and we passed the ball about the back, but you're sitting half had most of the ball, and then they were pressing us and we were just giving it away, and they were they were just so it took us like 10-15 passes to get into their final third.
36:20
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they were doing it in one and two.
36:22
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
36:22
SPEAKER_01: And they were getting a lot of joy putting balls in the box.
36:24
SPEAKER_01: So be fair, fair play to the manager.
36:26
SPEAKER_01: He said, start playing a bit more direct.
36:28
SPEAKER_01: They they think you're gonna play, like playing the channels, and we'd done it first 10-15 minutes, and then majority of the game was played in the half, and then we got we were two-not.
36:36
SPEAKER_03: We used to turn them around early on, turn them around into for Joe Garner or Carl Hawley, and we'd push up, but then they'd step off us because we were dig the letter, then we'd let's just managing the game.
36:48
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Terrell Thomas.
36:50
SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna put you on the spot.
36:51
SPEAKER_03: Dick T.
36:52
SPEAKER_03: Play with him.
36:53
SPEAKER_03: I'm not having them like no, nah, no, that's all.
36:57
SPEAKER_03: Why?
36:58
SPEAKER_03: Because he's got the if you look at him, you're like, right, big centre half.
37:02
SPEAKER_03: I see him Kendall, his first friend, they went.
37:03
SPEAKER_03: He's got great attributes.
37:05
SPEAKER_03: The real deal, yeah.
37:05
SPEAKER_03: We've got the real deal.
37:06
SPEAKER_01: Both feet, like he's obviously strong.
37:08
SPEAKER_01: I think he's left foot strong.
37:10
SPEAKER_01: But see, both like he can he can layer the ball.
37:13
SPEAKER_03: He's not here for long him.
37:14
SPEAKER_03: He's going, it's just the concentration in the that's exactly what it is.
37:17
SPEAKER_00: It's concentration.
37:20
SPEAKER_03: Oh, he went, he I think he gets bored.
37:22
SPEAKER_03: And I've played with players who like that who get aren't he?
37:24
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, right back.
37:25
SPEAKER_03: You just get bored, I'm off on a run, but you're not getting back, like stay where you are.
37:30
SPEAKER_03: But a lot of goals over the years I've commented on and the him, that the him a lot.
37:36
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he's yeah, as you said, he's attributes-wise like on paper, like top top, do you know what I mean?
37:41
SPEAKER_01: Like he can run good in the ball, big lad.
37:44
SPEAKER_01: But that is probably and he probably admit that as well.
37:47
SPEAKER_01: That's probably where he likes his sell down a little bit was is the concentration side of things.
37:50
SPEAKER_01: I mean, when it probably gets a wee bit too easy or tries to do something clever, or thinks I'm already there, instead of dealing with the the now the danger, he'll kind of try like turn out or something and get caught.
38:02
SPEAKER_01: So I think and that'll be the frustration thing for him as well.
38:05
SPEAKER_01: Like, because if he's on it, he's not playing at this level, he's not in national league.
38:08
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
38:09
SPEAKER_01: Like he's he's potentially play higher in the league.
38:13
SPEAKER_03: That's why I'm so frustrated with him.
38:15
SPEAKER_03: You go, I'd love to I'd kill for their back.
38:17
SPEAKER_03: Yes, yeah.
38:17
SPEAKER_00: Well, I've seen it firsthand last year.
38:18
SPEAKER_00: I commentated at Morecambe when you were I don't know what you're doing, uh something like that.
38:23
SPEAKER_00: I think it was.
38:24
SPEAKER_00: Um and he played obviously played centre half and he was for 85 minutes, he was the best player on the pitch.
38:29
SPEAKER_00: But then he's tried to cross someone on the edge of the box and nearly he got away with it.
38:33
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but that's when he gets caught, doesn't he?
38:35
SPEAKER_00: And then you think he's give a goal away, and it lets him down massively, but he was head and shoulders for 85 minutes, and then he done that, but he got away with it.
38:42
SPEAKER_00: But as you say, it's got to be his concentration because he's got so many good attributes.
38:46
SPEAKER_03: Sticking on to Carlisle, Nigel Clibbins leaves.
38:49
SPEAKER_00: Yep, had a few dealings with him, Abbey's.
38:53
SPEAKER_03: Have I?
38:53
SPEAKER_03: He's trying to get us sacked him four times.
38:57
SPEAKER_03: Should have put him in, clown.
38:58
SPEAKER_03: No, put him in, put him in.
39:00
SPEAKER_03: You know what?
39:01
SPEAKER_03: When you speak to him, he's a he's a nice enough bloke, but he's proceeded over a few horror shows at Carlisle.
39:09
SPEAKER_03: I think probably should have gone when the American family came in.
39:12
SPEAKER_03: There was advice for to for him to go.
39:16
SPEAKER_03: Um yeah, just just not worked out for him.
39:19
SPEAKER_03: He's got a promotion on his CV.
39:22
SPEAKER_03: I think Simil takes that promotion, doesn't he?
39:25
SPEAKER_03: There was much help done well.
39:27
SPEAKER_03: But yeah, divisive figure a few things off the pitch that have happened as well.
39:34
SPEAKER_03: So I think he goes and I think it's the right right decision.
39:37
SPEAKER_03: I tell you what, though, I will hammer him when I've been on the freebies behind us.
39:40
SPEAKER_03: I I I I wonder who he played for for the 500 games because the way he slags there and lads are telling Breeze to come off his line for off, hangers them.
39:50
SPEAKER_01: So yeah, he's not for me, he's not really a football guy, is he?
39:55
SPEAKER_01: Like the times I've like spoke to him and stuff, like obviously you respect him what he does in his kind of world and how he deals with it and off the pitch, but there's some people involved in football clubs that you tell straight away that they're not football people, they've not been brought up in the same environments and the same terminologies and get the same opinions as like football people that watch games.
40:16
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
40:16
SPEAKER_01: Um kind of very corporate kind of vibe.
40:19
SPEAKER_01: But um I know I had a lot of dealings with now you up with fair.
40:23
SPEAKER_00: I haven't I've just heard quite a few stories of different people.
40:27
SPEAKER_00: That's all I'll say on that.
40:28
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, is it the maths and math?
40:29
SPEAKER_03: Is that when when we're getting when we're 12 in a row getting beat?
40:33
SPEAKER_03: Is that the answer when I go, the maths is the maths?
40:35
SPEAKER_03: I'm gonna be mine is 20.
40:38
SPEAKER_01: That just killed them though, didn't it?
40:40
SPEAKER_02: Coleman started his article, didn't he?
40:42
SPEAKER_02: The axe is the axe is the sack.
40:46
SPEAKER_01: He's a witty guy job.
40:47
SPEAKER_01: After a very bad result, innit?
40:48
SPEAKER_01: It was like on Twitter and that it was like, don't worry, lads, the maths, the math.
40:53
SPEAKER_03: But uh I'm not saying anyone's trust, yeah, because it's it's well known.
40:58
SPEAKER_03: I think that the atmosphere on the ground will be a bit better now.
41:01
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, and and the and the staff in there who do an unbelievable job, you know.
41:04
SPEAKER_03: Tierney's in there now, Suzanne Kidd, who's been there a lot of years.
41:07
SPEAKER_03: Not saying they're had a problem because as I said a couple of weeks ago, and yeah, the atmosphere looked good, but I think they're more than competent to uh crack on.
41:15
SPEAKER_03: And if they're bearing in a new CEO, we'll have to see.
41:18
SPEAKER_03: Yep.
41:19
SPEAKER_03: So I'm gonna go on to a question from Jimmy Ander44.
41:26
SPEAKER_03: Another great pod last week, lads.
41:29
SPEAKER_03: As a Sunderland fan who keeps his eye on Carlisle, the mix is great for me.
41:33
SPEAKER_03: Be interested hearing about Chris playing for the England under 18s, who else was in that squad?
41:38
SPEAKER_03: So remember when I played for the England under 18s?
41:40
SPEAKER_03: I had that week of the week of death where I got the five-year contract played for one.
41:46
SPEAKER_03: So this was this these were the players in my team who didn't really kick on Matthew Upson.
41:53
SPEAKER_03: It wasn't bad, was he?
41:54
SPEAKER_03: So he was that size then, centre half.
41:57
SPEAKER_03: He ended up with Luton at Arsenal uh Birmingham Birmingham, yeah.
42:02
SPEAKER_00: David Dunn, Blackburn, yeah, player.
42:04
SPEAKER_00: I got to know him a bit when he was uh manager of Barrow.
42:07
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, really nice guy, like funny guy as well.
42:10
SPEAKER_03: He was manager of who did he manage?
42:13
SPEAKER_03: He managed someone else, or he's coach coach of Port Vale, I think.
42:16
SPEAKER_00: Might have been, yeah.
42:17
SPEAKER_03: And the uh they played Carl Ello up here in the stairing weatherhall, and he ended up out in weatherhall and stuff.
42:22
SPEAKER_00: We seen him in Magaluf years ago with Jackie Degg, remember?
42:24
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, bananas, the nightclubs dancing away.
42:28
SPEAKER_00: I thought what they doing here.
42:29
SPEAKER_03: That's two early 2000s because his best mate played for Barnsy and he rang it, rang his mate, Keith Brown.
42:34
SPEAKER_03: He said, get on the papers tomorrow.
42:36
SPEAKER_03: Just me and Jackie.
42:39
SPEAKER_00: What are they doing here?
42:40
SPEAKER_03: Uh Paul Robertson, leads keeper.
42:42
SPEAKER_00: Class.
42:43
SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
42:44
SPEAKER_00: Jonathan Woodgate.
42:46
SPEAKER_00: He lost some player by the way.
42:47
SPEAKER_03: He used to run the 1500 against Jonathan Woodgate.
42:49
SPEAKER_03: Oh, that's better.
42:50
SPEAKER_03: And then we ended up at Everton together.
42:52
SPEAKER_03: Uh trial.
42:53
SPEAKER_03: He was centre forward, was he?
42:55
SPEAKER_03: And then I seen him one day playing centre mid for another team.
42:59
SPEAKER_03: And nothing.
43:00
SPEAKER_03: I ended up he only signed for um Leeds.
43:04
SPEAKER_03: And he was nowhere.
43:05
SPEAKER_03: And he'll tell the same story, he was nowhere.
43:07
SPEAKER_03: David O'Leary is filling it centre half.
43:10
SPEAKER_03: And just his ball playing skills from centre half centre forward and centre mid.
43:14
SPEAKER_03: He was coming out from the back, and everyone's like, whoa.
43:18
SPEAKER_03: Class.
43:18
SPEAKER_03: And then from there, he sent for Nicaragua.
43:20
SPEAKER_03: He would have been the castle's best ever centre half.
43:22
SPEAKER_03: Done his groin, um, shutting out the ball against Hasselbank or something, and then the Real Madrid move came.
43:28
SPEAKER_03: So he only played like I would only say about 30 games today.
43:31
SPEAKER_03: Castleby's honesty class.
43:33
SPEAKER_03: Real Madrid, man.
43:34
SPEAKER_03: Madden.
43:35
SPEAKER_03: He was some player though.
43:36
SPEAKER_00: I like to say injuries a lot, a lot of injuries, isn't it?
43:38
SPEAKER_00: It was funny, weren't they?
43:39
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, didn't it?
43:40
SPEAKER_03: We rang Michael Bridges.
43:41
SPEAKER_03: If Real Madrid, they used to get paid every six months.
43:44
SPEAKER_03: So your wage is going every six months.
43:46
SPEAKER_03: So he's first time in Bridgie going, that's six months in the box.
43:50
SPEAKER_03: Six point five mil.
43:51
SPEAKER_03: We're driving back from Mansfield like that.
43:54
SPEAKER_03: See no busy how it's gonna be now.
43:57
SPEAKER_03: Uh Richie Wellens.
44:00
SPEAKER_00: Against him, I played against him at Black Pearl, he was very, very good.
44:04
SPEAKER_03: And then one more who you mightn't have heard of, Kevin Dixon.
44:07
SPEAKER_00: So Kevin Dixon was my Leeds Square.
44:10
SPEAKER_03: Square.
44:10
SPEAKER_03: Kevin Dixon was my yeah, and he went everywhere.
44:13
SPEAKER_03: He was getting offered five year contracts.
44:15
SPEAKER_03: One of them, then right at 12, he looked 28.
44:18
SPEAKER_03: Aye.
44:18
SPEAKER_03: Mature hairy.
44:21
SPEAKER_03: It was not a problem getting the shower 30 or whatever like that.
44:25
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
44:26
SPEAKER_03: So he ended up at Leeds, and then I saved a Barnsley, and he had signed for Barnsley that summer.
44:31
SPEAKER_03: And I'd signed him in October.
44:32
SPEAKER_03: And I was like, Where is he?
44:33
SPEAKER_03: Where's my mate?
44:33
SPEAKER_03: Like, I knew him.
44:34
SPEAKER_03: Didn't see him for ages.
44:35
SPEAKER_03: He just came in one day, about February.
44:38
SPEAKER_03: Massive.
44:39
SPEAKER_03: Like, absolutely massive.
44:42
SPEAKER_03: So Barnsley going to administration.
44:44
SPEAKER_03: A few things have gone on.
44:45
SPEAKER_03: Kev can't get himself fit.
44:46
SPEAKER_03: Good John Thorison comes in and goes, We need people to sign off.
44:49
SPEAKER_03: Like, or half your contract, money now.
44:53
SPEAKER_03: So we'll see you on three grand, you're going 59 and we'll give you an extra year.
44:56
SPEAKER_03: So we're getting people in like that.
44:58
SPEAKER_03: So they couldn't do anything.
45:00
SPEAKER_03: And then he could he managed to bring in a couple of players, but he needed people to sign off.
45:03
SPEAKER_03: And he asked Gary Jones to sign off.
45:05
SPEAKER_03: And he wouldn't.
45:06
SPEAKER_03: He asked Kevin Donovan to sign off.
45:07
SPEAKER_03: No.
45:07
SPEAKER_03: Kev Dixon walked in.
45:09
SPEAKER_03: I'll sign off.
45:09
SPEAKER_03: So what did every weekend or went Kev, you sure?
45:12
SPEAKER_03: He went, aye, just that bit of paper.
45:14
SPEAKER_03: He's still in.
45:15
SPEAKER_03: And the extra year.
45:16
SPEAKER_03: Done.
45:17
SPEAKER_03: Two years money.
45:18
SPEAKER_03: Just like didn't even have to train and out, just had two years' money to get a mock on him.
45:22
SPEAKER_03: And then the new manager and board came in.
45:23
SPEAKER_03: What's going on?
45:24
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
45:24
SPEAKER_03: He said, nah, a deal's a deal.
45:26
SPEAKER_03: So yeah.
45:27
SPEAKER_03: Well, there we've got a lot to talk about.
45:29
SPEAKER_03: So we'll not go into my Sunland rest of my Sunland career today because we've got so much to get through.
45:36
SPEAKER_03: Um so we're going to football in general.
45:41
SPEAKER_03: Spurs keeper.
45:43
SPEAKER_03: Right.
45:44
SPEAKER_03: Question from Matty Graham.
45:46
SPEAKER_03: Mourner lads, well it works.
45:48
SPEAKER_03: Got a quick question for the pod.
45:51
SPEAKER_03: Are the lads secretly happy he has been hooked after he's having a beast?
45:55
SPEAKER_03: Is the Spurs keeper?
45:57
SPEAKER_03: Or is there genuine empathy towards him?
46:00
SPEAKER_03: If I remember right, similar things happened with Rafael Narde for Carlisle.
46:04
SPEAKER_03: I was buzzing Rafinarde got subbed off.
46:07
SPEAKER_03: He was having a nightmare.
46:08
SPEAKER_03: Or was he?
46:10
SPEAKER_03: What that bad?
46:10
SPEAKER_03: 25 minutes in.
46:11
SPEAKER_03: I think I even.
46:13
SPEAKER_03: How can you be that bad in that short space of time?
46:16
SPEAKER_03: Like played against him for walking right.
46:18
SPEAKER_03: Rafael Narde, Karlov, he was unbelievable.
46:21
SPEAKER_03: Quick.
46:22
SPEAKER_03: Like, we better get him first.
46:23
SPEAKER_03: Simmo done class.
46:24
SPEAKER_01: Was it sitting half?
46:26
SPEAKER_03: No half, right wing.
46:27
SPEAKER_03: Three months down the line.
46:28
SPEAKER_03: Simo's like got him six yards out.
46:30
SPEAKER_03: Tell him to smash the ball as hard as he can into the net to kick it to kick it right.
46:34
SPEAKER_03: Just you know, when some of it doesn't work.
46:36
SPEAKER_03: But then next thing, he's got he's got on playing bury away.
46:41
SPEAKER_03: He's danced past on the sky, dance past out here.
46:43
SPEAKER_03: People he's gonna daft the dick dig that with a kick like you saw move.
46:48
SPEAKER_03: There was a game I remember, and it it was torture.
46:51
SPEAKER_03: And as much as you feel sorry for him, you want to win, don't you?
46:55
SPEAKER_03: And you can't be carrying people like having one get off.
46:57
SPEAKER_03: And I'm pretty sure points in my career.
47:00
SPEAKER_00: If I was having one, people go I mean, it's what was it, 16, 17 minutes?
47:07
SPEAKER_01: 3-0 down what name he's hasn't slipped twice though.
47:10
SPEAKER_01: No, the first one, the first one he slips, the second one he just he tries to like reverse it across the game.
47:18
SPEAKER_03: And try and play out from the back.
47:20
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, it's like go to Liverpool in the pomp last season.
47:22
SPEAKER_01: Well, they're all blaming the manager on the back.
47:24
SPEAKER_03: You know they're gonna come.
47:26
SPEAKER_03: Like, just I know it's not foot all these days.
47:29
SPEAKER_03: Turn them round, yeah, get a base, stay in the game.
47:32
SPEAKER_03: Tottenham done it against Liverpool yesterday.
47:35
SPEAKER_03: The match went 4-4-2, really, it was 4-5-1.
47:39
SPEAKER_03: Break us down.
47:40
SPEAKER_03: They did score.
47:41
SPEAKER_01: Where'd the goal come from though?
47:42
SPEAKER_01: Just a long, a long ball, innit?
47:44
SPEAKER_03: And then they just sat in again and just said, We'll take our time, we'll make the crowd nervy.
47:48
SPEAKER_03: Liverpool aren't at it.
47:49
SPEAKER_03: So it's the first leg.
47:51
SPEAKER_01: Aye, like you you go there and keep keep the score down and give yourself a chance for the home game, don't you?
47:57
SPEAKER_01: You don't start playing six-yard passes in your own box.
48:00
SPEAKER_03: Rooney watched him in the warm-up said he slipped three times.
48:02
SPEAKER_01: Aye, did he?
48:03
SPEAKER_01: Aye, he did, didn't he?
48:04
SPEAKER_01: So, what I was thinking Did you see the centre half speaking to the manager just before?
48:08
SPEAKER_01: Have you seen that?
48:12
SPEAKER_01: He's covering his mouth, aren't they?
48:13
SPEAKER_01: And then he's looking at the bench where we were talking, and then he walks away.
48:16
SPEAKER_01: And the manager basically tells somebody to warm up the goalkeeper.
48:18
SPEAKER_01: So I think he said that you need to take him off.
48:20
SPEAKER_00: I know what you're like, you don't feel sorry for him, do you?
48:22
SPEAKER_03: Simone went raffing on it as a fucking having one and get him off this bitch.
48:27
SPEAKER_03: I can imagine.
48:28
SPEAKER_03: And then I went in half time when Raph was a bit harsh that bit.
48:31
SPEAKER_01: Keep your chin up, lad, keep your chin up.
48:34
SPEAKER_01: We've all been there, mate.
48:36
SPEAKER_01: Don't worry about it.
48:36
SPEAKER_03: We've all been there.
48:37
SPEAKER_03: Well, my premiership debut, the lads were definitely fucking looking for me to come off.
48:42
SPEAKER_03: Have I tell you about it?
48:43
SPEAKER_03: No.
48:43
SPEAKER_03: Worked my balls off, right?
48:45
SPEAKER_03: Got in the primitive, played Ranger, Sam Doria, sent them in, pop pop, new deal on the cards, the lot.
48:51
SPEAKER_03: This new wonder kid I'm reading in shoot magazine the next day.
48:54
SPEAKER_01: Next post call.
48:55
SPEAKER_03: So next thing he's pulled as he went, Stefan Schwartz's uh field of fitness test.
48:59
SPEAKER_03: You're gonna go in because I was gonna be sub and like build us into the season.
49:02
SPEAKER_03: There was a plan.
49:03
SPEAKER_03: Stefan Schwartz just flew in, he's he's like that on the pitch.
49:08
SPEAKER_03: I'm like, I know it's me going on the left, yeah.
49:11
SPEAKER_03: I think Steph Schwartz is playing against Chelsea, and he's pulled he says, but I'll be fit for Tuesday at Watford at home.
49:16
SPEAKER_03: I know you're getting clever, but uh very clever, and and I should have gone out like next thing you're in, left wing, we're tucking.
49:25
SPEAKER_03: I'm like, no bother.
49:26
SPEAKER_03: So I knew the omens weren't great because as I walked out, it'd been cloudy all morning, about 38 degrees sun come out.
49:32
SPEAKER_03: I was like, I'm in massive trouble.
49:34
SPEAKER_03: So Ed DeGows got the ball first minute, throws it out to Petrescu.
49:38
SPEAKER_03: I've ran over, waited them, crifed the champs, and give it back to Steve Bold and went halow.
49:43
SPEAKER_03: Oh my god, is that give me that ball?
49:46
SPEAKER_03: Is Pred League's a piece of piss?
49:48
SPEAKER_03: Like, honestly.
49:48
SPEAKER_03: And then when I is this a standard to you, is it?
49:51
SPEAKER_03: I don't know what's gone on, right?
49:53
SPEAKER_03: I don't know what's gone on, but all I've all I know is when I like look back at the tapes, is that I've got Poye running that way, I've got Dimateo running that way, Zola's floating around.
50:05
SPEAKER_03: Pretty sure, as I've said a few times, he megs is, but I'm pretty sure just to take the piss, he crawls under me laying as well.
50:11
SPEAKER_03: I guess it's a put you in the waters.
50:14
SPEAKER_03: I think at one point I've got to fall on why Dennis Wise went, leave ginge on it.
50:20
SPEAKER_01: But you're missing a lot.
50:21
SPEAKER_03: Chris Sutton's debut just signed with 10 million.
50:24
SPEAKER_03: So back in the day, 10 million is like a lot of money, I think.
50:27
SPEAKER_03: Oh well, he's gone.
50:28
SPEAKER_03: I've played him on three times because I'm disilute, I don't know what day it is.
50:32
SPEAKER_03: I've played him on three times, went through three times and missed.
50:36
SPEAKER_03: Luckily, because he had one at Chelsea, he did that, yeah.
50:38
SPEAKER_03: Solitic saved him.
50:40
SPEAKER_03: And we're gonna I've told the story a few times on a few different things.
50:43
SPEAKER_03: When I get in the at half time, all I'll say is right, if I could front flip a hundred times out of celebration, I would have when Peter Reed said just come off.
50:53
SPEAKER_01: You're coming off, just relief, is it?
50:56
SPEAKER_03: Sat in the dressing room, right, I had a towel on my head, and I was mentally, physically, absolutely fucked.
51:03
SPEAKER_01: Were you were you more worried about?
51:05
SPEAKER_01: I always think like I like the I always feel like see if you're having a bit of a stinker, like about what the boys think.
51:11
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
51:12
SPEAKER_01: Like the lads in the dressing room, because you know see where you're playing and you're doing well, and one of the boys having a stinker and you're kind of like fucking hell, he's having one and you need to get him off.
51:19
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
51:19
SPEAKER_01: Like, I I'm I'm thinking like I hope the boys aren't sitting thinking like get him off, my lord.
51:24
SPEAKER_03: Did you not hear there?
51:25
SPEAKER_03: I couldn't see, I couldn't think.
51:28
SPEAKER_01: Was it was the cream?
51:29
SPEAKER_01: Did you have face cream in your was it rolling?
51:31
SPEAKER_01: Oh don't start with that shit.
51:34
SPEAKER_03: No, the lads were all having one themselves, I think.
51:36
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but they're probably looking going, when I played.
51:39
SPEAKER_03: Was it 5-0 though?
51:39
SPEAKER_03: So you're not 4-0 when I played them, it was 2-0.
51:42
SPEAKER_03: I blame Thomas Sorensen.
51:44
SPEAKER_03: Came for the came for a corner early on, and they have scored.
51:47
SPEAKER_03: Dropped it, we're both shutting up shock.
51:49
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, we're having possession.
51:50
SPEAKER_03: No blocking that, and then they just got one and that was it.
51:53
SPEAKER_01: To be fair though, your first game against some of the guys.
51:56
SPEAKER_03: Some of the players in the Chelsea team was all 19 mum and dad, I think, worked out after 10.
52:00
SPEAKER_03: Nah, and then there's a there's a Poyer scores this goal.
52:07
SPEAKER_03: So Zoe, I'm off the pitch back to Zola, lobs it, and Poyer does this scissor.
52:12
SPEAKER_03: And it goes to Viali in that jumping up, and I'm in the Sullivan dressing room uh dugout already.
52:21
SPEAKER_03: Even Peter Ree is like that.
52:22
SPEAKER_03: But we went at the dress room afterwards, and we're just talking.
52:25
SPEAKER_03: Peter Reed didn't really see out, and it just went Middlesbrough just or Bradford had just been promoted, or Middlesbrough had, or something like that.
52:31
SPEAKER_03: Bradford had just been promoted with us, something like that.
52:34
SPEAKER_03: And it went, Middlesbrough nil, Bradford won.
52:37
SPEAKER_03: Like there for Peter Ree went, oh fucking now, like that.
52:40
SPEAKER_03: And he said off, but he was sound, he was sound, and then as I say, Tuesday, we're at Watford, and he pulled us, he said, I'm just gonna leave you out.
52:47
SPEAKER_03: And I and to be fair, and I've spoken to him since all these, he went, I shouldn't have played on the Thursday, I should have it kept by the plan.
52:55
SPEAKER_01: He's protecting you a bit there, and I want to leave you out and stuff like because if you have another one where you get ripped off and your career's done, crap.
53:03
SPEAKER_02: The lads were popping it.
53:04
SPEAKER_02: Stefan Schwartz was sending a million dollars.
53:06
SPEAKER_02: I was like, Oh, I Steph, how's that car?
53:07
SPEAKER_00: How's the calf doing a but yeah?
53:10
SPEAKER_03: Um so as I say, what about the quick one about the the gaffer when the Tottenham keeper walked off?
53:16
SPEAKER_03: Do you want a hug or not?
53:18
SPEAKER_00: Not when you get um you've probably heard what Rooney said, Do you want your manager a hug off your manager when he's whipped you off after 15 minutes?
53:24
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but would you personally nah nah?
53:26
SPEAKER_00: I just want to get out of there, mate, go out of sight, just get in the churning room, and I wouldn't come back out.
53:31
SPEAKER_03: You know what I'd be worried about?
53:33
SPEAKER_03: Does your bonus kick in?
53:34
SPEAKER_01: Ah, you need to play it.
53:36
SPEAKER_01: You need to play to play at least 60.
53:39
SPEAKER_02: The keeper walked off and went get in past 15 minutes out of the money.
53:44
SPEAKER_01: Nah, I can see I can see both sides, like the manager, it does look a bit cold, do you know what I mean?
53:49
SPEAKER_01: Like at least kind of see if you're busy doing something, at least give him a wee tap on the shoulder.
53:54
SPEAKER_01: Now, we high five or like anything.
53:56
SPEAKER_01: It might it might just fuck you off, do you know what I mean?
53:58
SPEAKER_01: But like at least show a wee bit of like and chatty because he's come out and said like he's trying to protect him or not.
54:02
SPEAKER_01: It just looked like he was being ruthless with him.
54:04
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
54:04
SPEAKER_01: Like, if you're trying to protect him, give him a wee wee pat the back or whatever.
54:07
SPEAKER_03: Question from Sammy G, who we coach?
54:09
SPEAKER_03: Yes, yes, Sammy Garrett and Oli Garrett.
54:11
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, Ollie G and Sam's so as you are massive advocates of mental health and sport, which we are, be interested to know your views on Kinksy's substitution on his Champions League debut, confidence destroyer or preserving the guy, as the manager has since stated, from a Buddhine young goalkeeper and his ma'am, as we said.
54:31
SPEAKER_03: For me, I would have loved I don't know if I had to come off looking at my experience.
54:38
SPEAKER_03: But probably you need if I was on the bench the next game and then we took off the betch out of that, fair enough.
54:45
SPEAKER_03: But just to be out cold after playing all them games was a bit of a hard one to take.
54:49
SPEAKER_03: But that's it is what it is.
54:51
SPEAKER_03: I think these days there are there's a lot more subs you can put on.
54:54
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, they can have nine subs back then it's like three and five.
54:58
SPEAKER_03: But I think yeah, he was on he was on the bench, wasn't he, yesterday?
55:01
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, he was, yeah.
55:02
SPEAKER_00: I had a look he was, yeah.
55:03
SPEAKER_03: And it's different now, isn't it?
55:05
SPEAKER_03: You're kind of not fighting for your money.
55:08
SPEAKER_03: Like when you prepare to play back then you had 15 years to make your money.
55:11
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
55:12
SPEAKER_03: Like now, with the as harsh as it sounds to the listeners, you've made your money quite early if you're Premier League keeper.
55:18
SPEAKER_03: And does it hurt them that much?
55:21
SPEAKER_00: Well, I remember my my own debut, football league debut, obviously.
55:25
SPEAKER_00: I got whipped off after 56 minutes and I got left out against Cardiff on the Tuesday, just completely didn't travel.
55:31
SPEAKER_00: Um and my name just wasn't on the list.
55:33
SPEAKER_00: Because I used to be on a board.
55:35
SPEAKER_00: I came on the Monday, we trained.
55:37
SPEAKER_00: I wasn't on, but I didn't have the balls to and asked why.
55:39
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
55:40
SPEAKER_00: Um But when I came off, travelled home with my dad and I thought, if that's a standard of League One, I'm struggling.
55:48
SPEAKER_00: But I ended up playing against a lad who went into the Premier League.
55:50
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
55:51
SPEAKER_00: But when I got left out on the Tuesday, I always remember it.
55:53
SPEAKER_00: And he might not remember this, but Bridgie, Mark Bridge Wilkinson, he pulled us.
55:57
SPEAKER_00: He said, Look, you'll be alright.
56:00
SPEAKER_00: He said, like, and he mentioned how good he was, sort of thing.
56:02
SPEAKER_00: He says, He's not normal for this league.
56:04
SPEAKER_00: He says, believe in yourself because you are good enough.
56:07
SPEAKER_00: Um I never forget that, and it took us quite a while to get back in.
56:10
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but I needed that sort of reassurance because I thought, if that's the standard, I'm struggling here.
56:14
SPEAKER_01: I think it's just learning curves, isn't it?
56:16
SPEAKER_01: Like it's all them little things, and then it builds your character.
56:21
SPEAKER_01: And as you said, you probably need a little spell out of the team or out the environment, and then you probably come on and have a good 10 minutes, and then your confidence is through roof again.
56:29
SPEAKER_01: Do you mean you remember how good a player you're like?
56:32
SPEAKER_01: But if you keep if you keep playing and having a shocker and it's in your mind, it's in your mind, and you end up going to run a games when the fans are on you, you're like in all seriousness.
56:40
SPEAKER_03: No, you played with me, I'm a bit yeah, the biggest one, yeah.
56:44
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, but so it was like I want to win, like, but that Chelsea thing taught me.
56:48
SPEAKER_03: So I was out in the coal for six, seven months, like after being top of the world, that's a bit and you know what results business, like yeah, and other players around that let me down, I let them down.
57:00
SPEAKER_03: So, like, you don't want to be that player again.
57:02
SPEAKER_03: So I was making sure I was on it.
57:04
SPEAKER_03: And if you talk to like honestly, I was terrible on the pitch to be fair, but if you talk to all the lads I play with now, they went, you like you helped because you just wanted to win.
57:11
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, sometimes you can step over it, but that win that winning feeling, having that week, but you'd rather that than boys that are just no caring, do you know?
57:21
SPEAKER_03: I know they do care on a Saturday, but that a lot of the supporters are aiming at Collar United saying they don't care enough.
57:26
SPEAKER_03: And I know they do, yeah, but you've got to show it a little bit more, yeah.
57:30
SPEAKER_03: Um right, Dylan.
57:34
SPEAKER_02: World class.
57:36
SPEAKER_00: Oh, not this again, then like can we can we not can we just listen first before we start making more categories?
57:41
SPEAKER_03: Have you got have you got another section in the points last week?
57:44
SPEAKER_03: Dylan, you're right.
57:46
SPEAKER_03: Thanks.
57:47
SPEAKER_03: We're gonna have to go legendary, right?
57:50
SPEAKER_03: World class, then elite.
57:52
SPEAKER_03: It's a good shout.
57:53
SPEAKER_03: Must have been the eight.
57:54
SPEAKER_01: Because we get called up to me for Rooney or something, wasn't it?
57:56
SPEAKER_03: Legendary.
57:57
SPEAKER_03: Maradona, Pele, Cruyff, Ronaldo, Messi, Platini, Beck of people like that, right?
58:02
SPEAKER_03: That's legendary.
58:02
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they're like household names that your granny would know.
58:06
SPEAKER_03: World class.
58:07
SPEAKER_03: Your Shearers, your Rooney's, your Honries, your Vieiras, your Gerald's, your Iniestas.
58:12
SPEAKER_03: She's I know you won't.
58:13
SPEAKER_03: Wait, don't what?
58:15
SPEAKER_03: Are you going?
58:17
SPEAKER_03: You going Sheera World?
58:18
SPEAKER_01: That might be a bad shout for me.
58:19
SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
58:20
SPEAKER_03: Listen, I'm a majority in that, but you can't be putting Sheera with Maradona.
58:25
SPEAKER_01: No, not.
58:26
SPEAKER_03: Are you saying not even world?
58:28
SPEAKER_01: Does Shera play be Barcelona, Real Madrid?
58:32
SPEAKER_03: Out.
58:33
SPEAKER_01: Would he have played for them?
58:34
SPEAKER_03: Get out.
58:35
SPEAKER_03: Would you have he'd have scored goals for anybody, wouldn't he?
58:38
SPEAKER_03: Yes.
58:39
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
58:39
SPEAKER_03: And he had two cruciates when the cruci when the doc needs to see her out for three.
58:42
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
58:43
SPEAKER_01: I'm probably a bit younger.
58:45
SPEAKER_01: Right.
58:45
SPEAKER_03: We got absolutely hammered for Rooney not being world class.
58:49
SPEAKER_03: We had a switch off from Barry Williams.
58:50
SPEAKER_03: Barry Williams and Daphne, lads.
58:53
SPEAKER_03: Killed us.
58:54
SPEAKER_00: Sorry, buzz.
58:55
SPEAKER_01: Well, half of half the boys just turned off now.
58:56
SPEAKER_01: We meet up the sheet aren't they?
58:58
SPEAKER_03: So, because we're running bad for time, I'm going to leave this little section where we're going to pick a midfield three from the Premier League midfielders and why.
59:06
SPEAKER_03: We're going to go quickly into Schools, Gerard, and Lampard.
59:12
SPEAKER_03: And who was the best and why?
59:14
SPEAKER_00: For me, it was Gerard because he could do everything of their strong points, and I don't think they could do every bit of his strong points.
59:23
SPEAKER_00: So I think he's like all them in one for me.
59:27
SPEAKER_02: Which part of you watched to get that answer?
59:29
SPEAKER_02: That's very good.
59:30
SPEAKER_00: No, no.
59:31
SPEAKER_00: Rehearsed, didn't it?
59:32
SPEAKER_00: Very good.
59:32
SPEAKER_00: Research that you've done your homework.
59:35
SPEAKER_00: For one side.
59:37
SPEAKER_00: Nah, it's a good shout.
59:38
SPEAKER_01: I think they're all in their own right, the best that like so Lampard, for instance, getting forward and getting goals.
59:46
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
59:47
SPEAKER_01: Like, so you add that to your team.
59:49
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
59:49
SPEAKER_01: As a manager, you think you're going to drink him all day.
59:52
SPEAKER_01: But then you're thinking schools could run a full game.
59:54
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
59:55
SPEAKER_01: You can't get the ball off him.
59:56
SPEAKER_01: And then Gerard could do a bit of a bit of everything.
59:59
SPEAKER_01: Like he's a proper leader as well.
1:00:01
SPEAKER_01: Like that hard man gonna get stuck in, get forward, get back.
1:00:06
SPEAKER_01: The modern day midfielder.
1:00:08
SPEAKER_01: Um I love schools to be fair.
1:00:10
SPEAKER_01: I love schools because probably similar to like how I want to like on the ball and make passes, control the tempo.
1:00:17
SPEAKER_01: Um but as you said, Skulls probably needed uh Roy Keane beside him to go be an enforcer, do you know what I mean?
1:00:24
SPEAKER_01: And be that voice in the middle of the pitch where he can just go and go on the ball and be more um more quiet.
1:00:30
SPEAKER_01: Um and Lampard's probably similar, isn't he?
1:00:33
SPEAKER_03: Like he's a McCaly or something like that.
1:00:35
SPEAKER_01: He he probably relied on another midfielder to kind of do all the other stuff so he can just get forward.
1:00:39
SPEAKER_03: But if Gerard had Gerard, you could put him out there and he'd be the best player he doesn't need anyone.
1:00:44
SPEAKER_00: Play Gerard at left back or right one, said you could play him any position and be the best player on the pitch.
1:00:48
SPEAKER_01: I think that's why people love Rooney in that as well, isn't it?
1:00:50
SPEAKER_01: Rooney ended up you play him on the left through the middle, sometimes midfield, wide and right.
1:00:55
SPEAKER_03: That's why he's world class there, Mary.
1:00:58
SPEAKER_01: But who are you who are you?
1:00:59
SPEAKER_03: So I've thought about a little bit.
1:01:02
SPEAKER_03: Gerard's a complete midfielder, but he's the one I'd want to play against because you know what you're gonna get.
1:01:11
SPEAKER_03: So before I go, before well I played against some shout down it wanna be.
1:01:15
SPEAKER_01: I played against Gerard as well, yeah.
1:01:16
SPEAKER_00: It's another one.
1:01:17
SPEAKER_03: I played against Skulls, and there's no point.
1:01:22
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, there's no point, like you can't get near them.
1:01:26
SPEAKER_03: Gerard I've played against, you can get near him, but he's still gonna be too good.
1:01:31
SPEAKER_03: But if I was putting the and I'd go Gerard's gonna do today, right?
1:01:35
SPEAKER_03: He's gonna go box to box and he's gonna ping it.
1:01:37
SPEAKER_03: So I know I need to get close and I need to, I know it, I need to be fit.
1:01:41
SPEAKER_00: So just to clarify, you reckon you could get near Gerard to play against him?
1:01:45
SPEAKER_00: That's I've just done it.
1:01:46
SPEAKER_03: I'm saying I'm going to the fuck playing against Gerard's the outer.
1:01:48
SPEAKER_03: But you'd rather go up play against the best.
1:01:50
SPEAKER_03: Right.
1:01:50
SPEAKER_03: Gerald's the best, right?
1:01:51
SPEAKER_03: Hands down for me.
1:01:52
SPEAKER_03: Lampard I'd hit.
1:01:54
SPEAKER_03: That's what I'm going to want to play against.
1:01:56
SPEAKER_03: Lera Lampard can't be arse.
1:01:58
SPEAKER_01: I'm passing them on in my second half.
1:02:00
SPEAKER_03: But my defenders wouldn't, Livesy and Grey would not have passed them on.
1:02:03
SPEAKER_03: Nerf wouldn't have, so I had to go with him.
1:02:05
SPEAKER_03: I'd play him on like Chris Sun.
1:02:07
SPEAKER_03: So Lampard for me, it sounds shocking.
1:02:11
SPEAKER_03: Third of the three, but I just wouldn't like to play against him going that way.
1:02:14
SPEAKER_03: Schools, as I've said, came up against you, he's popped it and gone, popped in and gone.
1:02:19
SPEAKER_03: He's quiet, he's round you.
1:02:20
SPEAKER_03: Gerard, you know you're going 50-50s, you know he's running around, you know he's gonna get on the ball.
1:02:26
SPEAKER_03: So you kind of in a stupid sort of way know how to mark him, but also you're not running all the time.
1:02:31
SPEAKER_03: You think he was bigger than I put Gerard and he was bigger than I thought.
1:02:35
SPEAKER_01: Big lad.
1:02:36
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
1:02:38
SPEAKER_01: He was more we played Liverpool in our preseason friendly at Aviva over him.
1:02:42
SPEAKER_01: Right like Catinho and Gerard, they had the full what's we beat them as well.
1:02:48
SPEAKER_01: We beat them one now.
1:02:49
SPEAKER_03: We we played uh Liverpool and they had a Champions League game called off.
1:02:52
SPEAKER_03: We played the whole lemma.
1:02:53
SPEAKER_03: Lippin and Fowler up front.
1:02:56
SPEAKER_03: Uh it was actually Gerard and Carragher sent him.
1:02:58
SPEAKER_03: Is it yeah?
1:02:58
SPEAKER_03: Um Roberto's song, right?
1:03:00
SPEAKER_03: But yeah, sent a half next game, I can't remember.
1:03:05
SPEAKER_03: And show always look like he was blown out his arse.
1:03:09
SPEAKER_01: But uh yeah, he was he was he's tall, man, big.
1:03:13
SPEAKER_01: But um see talking about can't get near schools.
1:03:16
SPEAKER_01: I remember we played Juventus last 16 the champions like night before the game, we're watching clips and stuff, right?
1:03:22
SPEAKER_01: And they were learning the Celtic.
1:03:24
SPEAKER_01: And he's like, Bruni, his legs have gone, right?
1:03:28
SPEAKER_01: Talk about Pierlo.
1:03:29
SPEAKER_01: He's like, Look at him, he's about 36.
1:03:31
SPEAKER_01: Don't say that though, right?
1:03:33
SPEAKER_01: He's like Pierlo, his legs have gone.
1:03:35
SPEAKER_01: Bruni Bruni was in his prime as well, like Captain of Scotland and the Celtic and stuff.
1:03:38
SPEAKER_03: And it's like I just imagine Bruni's there with a stake going, yeah, shaving his head up.
1:03:44
SPEAKER_01: He's like, honestly, his legs have gone, you're gonna run over the top of him, just first minute, get right in about him, all this kind of stuff.
1:03:50
SPEAKER_01: Honestly, it was a master class.
1:03:52
SPEAKER_01: He's just like balls coming in, he he's he's already seen him.
1:03:56
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
1:03:56
SPEAKER_01: Coming, Bruni's charging in, he's playing one touch round the corner, playing a Wii 1-2, just thinking over the full back.
1:04:02
SPEAKER_01: Next one, Bruni's like staying off him, he's taking a touch, and he's just see the centre circle, he never moved out of that centre circle.
1:04:08
SPEAKER_01: In break sweat, nothing, hairs floating about, and Bruni's like a raging bull, like charging about, but again, just so intelligent, like a yard extra up there.
1:04:17
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
1:04:18
SPEAKER_01: And just the boys even to this day, like the boys like I see it in podcasts or talking about it, and they like remember he told that he said Palo's legs have gone.
1:04:25
SPEAKER_03: Who was the captain for Celtic back?
1:04:26
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, Bruni Bruni, yeah.
1:04:30
SPEAKER_03: Or one of the boys round.
1:04:32
SPEAKER_01: How about Charlie McGrew sellers?
1:04:33
SPEAKER_01: Oh, he's talking about uh was it Effie Amro who had a fish.
1:04:35
SPEAKER_03: One of them must have gone out the manager and went, get Brownie off.
1:04:39
SPEAKER_01: See, but fair if you're doing that to Brownie, then fair play to it.
1:04:42
SPEAKER_01: I mean, because he was the ultimate, like hey you shit.
1:04:45
SPEAKER_03: I would love to see you up again.
1:04:46
SPEAKER_03: But you in the over 35s, you can do that.
1:04:49
SPEAKER_03: What we're playing over 35s together for a few yeah, and there's a couple of lads up front, touches bobbled off, and he's going, and hey, get him off.
1:04:58
SPEAKER_02: Not even not even going like that.
1:04:59
SPEAKER_02: I was angry up.
1:05:00
SPEAKER_03: Get him in goals, get him in goals, get him off.
1:05:03
SPEAKER_03: Right.
1:05:03
SPEAKER_03: So next week we're picking we're naming a lot of world-class midfielders, and we picked with three in there for different reasons.
1:05:10
SPEAKER_03: So we went Gerard, Gerard, Gerard, Gerard.
1:05:13
SPEAKER_03: Some players, though, aren't they?
1:05:14
SPEAKER_01: So see that England team when who are you picking up the England team?
1:05:18
SPEAKER_03: It was weird.
1:05:20
SPEAKER_03: That is the problem.
1:05:21
SPEAKER_03: It was four four-two.
1:05:22
SPEAKER_01: But nowadays they would just play like they do now, like three, wouldn't they?
1:05:25
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, 4-3-3 and the three number play.
1:05:28
SPEAKER_03: I would have gone Gerard scores.
1:05:29
SPEAKER_03: I uh although Lambert got loads of goals, I just would have gone between years, but that was torture putting scores on the left.
1:05:35
SPEAKER_00: Schools hated playing on it.
1:05:37
SPEAKER_00: He's open, he's open about it as well, isn't he?
1:05:39
SPEAKER_00: He just says that he just didn't enjoy at all.
1:05:41
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, he was so used to that environment of United and that though, probably in it, and it just everything worked for him.
1:05:45
SPEAKER_01: Where he's gonna weigh the air and asked to play wide left.
1:05:48
SPEAKER_01: And I don't think he enjoyed it, they just trying to get him in, weren't they?
1:05:51
SPEAKER_03: Right.
1:05:52
SPEAKER_03: What's the crap, lads?
1:05:53
SPEAKER_03: We're on to it.
1:05:54
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:05:54
SPEAKER_03: This segment is sponsored by Warwick Road Bed Centre.
1:05:57
SPEAKER_03: So thank you so much to Julian and the family again.
1:06:00
SPEAKER_03: Again, it's situated on Warwick Road and their other store, Warwick New and Used Furniture on Brook Street.
1:06:06
SPEAKER_03: Get along there and again, mention three in the middle.
1:06:09
SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
1:06:09
SPEAKER_03: Don't know what he might produce for you.
1:06:11
SPEAKER_03: Do all sorts of beds, kids, everything.
1:06:14
SPEAKER_00: Water beds.
1:06:17
SPEAKER_00: Everything, yeah.
1:06:18
SPEAKER_01: See, when I first met Julian, obviously about the furniture stall and stuff.
1:06:23
SPEAKER_01: He was like, What mattress you got?
1:06:24
SPEAKER_01: I went, don't you?
1:06:25
SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's his that's his child line, that.
1:06:27
SPEAKER_01: I went, telling you.
1:06:28
SPEAKER_01: He went, When did you when did you get it?
1:06:29
SPEAKER_01: How long you had it?
1:06:30
SPEAKER_01: Do you know you should get a bed?
1:06:31
SPEAKER_01: And I was like, Are we mates here?
1:06:33
SPEAKER_01: Are you trying to sell me a mattress?
1:06:34
SPEAKER_01: But anyway, I told him, I said, um, this will kill you.
1:06:37
SPEAKER_01: I went, but mine came in a box like that size.
1:06:39
SPEAKER_01: He went, What do you mean?
1:06:40
SPEAKER_01: I went, it's one of the ones where like the the Eve or the Emmers or something.
1:06:44
SPEAKER_01: Now you you slid it open and you leave it for six hours and it rolls up.
1:06:47
SPEAKER_01: I went, Mine came in a box and he was disgusting, man.
1:06:50
SPEAKER_01: He was like, That's not a mattress, that's not a mattress.
1:06:52
SPEAKER_03: Julian, I've had mine 16 years.
1:06:54
SPEAKER_03: Right, Paul Patterson.
1:06:56
SPEAKER_03: Apologies off last week.
1:06:57
SPEAKER_03: He hammered you to me, by the way.
1:06:58
SPEAKER_03: Did he?
1:06:59
SPEAKER_03: Yes, all right.
1:07:00
SPEAKER_03: If he wants to go tour tour, we can't.
1:07:02
SPEAKER_03: Right.
1:07:04
SPEAKER_03: He's got three in, because that's how busy he is, but we'll go with one quickly.
1:07:08
SPEAKER_03: How did you fill the void of adrenaline and camaraderie after leaving the game?
1:07:13
SPEAKER_00: So Well, you haven't left the game.
1:07:16
SPEAKER_03: Um you struggled a bit.
1:07:18
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, didn't really.
1:07:19
SPEAKER_00: Didn't really.
1:07:19
SPEAKER_00: Um obviously I went into a bit of commentary, but that's completely different, isn't it?
1:07:23
SPEAKER_00: Um Do you know what I do know what done it for me?
1:07:26
SPEAKER_00: Monday nights playing over 35s.
1:07:28
SPEAKER_00: I I used to love playing desperate to win, used to love winning the league and the county cup.
1:07:33
SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
1:07:33
SPEAKER_00: Um yeah, like buzzing to play on a Monday, like really took it seriously, wanted to win, doing it with your mates, and that sort of was a bit of how I done it.
1:07:43
SPEAKER_03: Remember when that we went to play uh we played uh Burnaback, is it called?
1:07:48
SPEAKER_03: No, that was the what they called the ground.
1:07:49
SPEAKER_00: Ah yeah, and they're all down the side drinking cans.
1:07:51
SPEAKER_03: Well, we went out west and we had seen it being built up this game, and we walked over this hill.
1:07:56
SPEAKER_03: There's about a hundred supporters there with Khan.
1:07:59
SPEAKER_03: I was a kid, and we'd seen him as a cage fighter or something, he was doing that in the side of the pitch.
1:08:03
SPEAKER_03: I won't just went right.
1:08:05
SPEAKER_03: First thing I'd done absolutely lifted over the dealing.
1:08:08
SPEAKER_03: I thought, as I'm walking away, I thought I'm getting round the house, yeah.
1:08:11
SPEAKER_03: Some bad tacos.
1:08:12
SPEAKER_03: It was all right, we won't be able to do it.
1:08:13
SPEAKER_03: We won 3-0.
1:08:14
SPEAKER_03: Uh, they called up the pulled up um pitch, the burner bet.
1:08:17
SPEAKER_03: The burner bet, yeah.
1:08:18
SPEAKER_03: But uh I and same with me, Sunday lead.
1:08:21
SPEAKER_03: I just so I done commentary on a Saturday, the company came quite quick when I retired.
1:08:26
SPEAKER_03: So I I used my Sunday game as kind of like keep training for that.
1:08:31
SPEAKER_03: You know what I mean?
1:08:31
SPEAKER_03: Like keeping it.
1:08:32
SPEAKER_01: Did you train during the week?
1:08:33
SPEAKER_01: Did you just come off it for a bit?
1:08:34
SPEAKER_03: I'd come off it for a bit.
1:08:36
SPEAKER_03: Wasn't like now where you finished.
1:08:37
SPEAKER_01: Because you had to do it like as a job, so you when it was an option, you kinda we st I I binded for a while to be fair, training.
1:08:44
SPEAKER_01: But you struggled with your back, didn't you?
1:08:46
SPEAKER_00: I probably should have just kept my back.
1:08:48
SPEAKER_00: I probably could have played that.
1:08:49
SPEAKER_00: Probably could have.
1:08:55
SPEAKER_03: Wait for the third video.
1:08:57
SPEAKER_03: Right, Stuart Ferguson.
1:09:00
SPEAKER_00: Big Stuart, I know Stu well, yeah.
1:09:04
SPEAKER_00: By the way, just before you he is an angry man in the paddock.
1:09:07
SPEAKER_00: The opposite go on, go on, carry on.
1:09:09
SPEAKER_02: And I seen him in the hairdressers you know, yeah.
1:09:11
SPEAKER_02: The eyes, his eyes went.
1:09:12
SPEAKER_03: Right, loving the pod.
1:09:14
SPEAKER_03: Keep up the good work.
1:09:15
SPEAKER_03: More of a message for Dylan regarding last season at the Blues.
1:09:18
SPEAKER_03: Why did you appear to be ostracised from the first team after Hughes came in?
1:09:22
SPEAKER_03: Were you injured or did Hughes take a dislike to you or anything else?
1:09:26
SPEAKER_03: Seemed very strange considering your experience and qualities you offered on the ball, but also in the dressing room too.
1:09:32
SPEAKER_03: Having just came back from the South End match, I'm fuming, where he has pulled off Gilead.
1:09:37
SPEAKER_03: It looks as if he doesn't rate ball playing midfielders.
1:09:40
SPEAKER_03: Would appreciate your honesty as he is not the man for me.
1:09:44
SPEAKER_03: All the best, guys, all the best.
1:09:46
SPEAKER_03: Dylan.
1:09:47
SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
1:09:48
SPEAKER_01: Looking forward to this answer.
1:09:49
SPEAKER_01: Absolute grenade, isn't it?
1:09:52
SPEAKER_01: Now the thing was when Matt Williamson came in, I played like a couple of games.
1:09:56
SPEAKER_01: Um and it looked like it was suiting me to a tee, do you know what I mean?
1:09:58
SPEAKER_01: Like a lot of getting on the ball, and I was a lot of a lot of focus point on that.
1:10:03
SPEAKER_01: And then I got a bad hamstring injury.
1:10:05
SPEAKER_01: So I had to go get that repaired, get surgery.
1:10:07
SPEAKER_01: It put me out for yeah, I got it, I got it repaired, yeah.
1:10:10
SPEAKER_03: This is the problem though, Nussle never came out from the club.
1:10:12
SPEAKER_03: No people just think you got niggles and that, and you never know.
1:10:15
SPEAKER_03: That's why you've got to be transparent.
1:10:17
SPEAKER_03: Yeah, yeah.
1:10:17
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I got I think that time obviously the results weren't great, and then Williamson went, and then there was a lot of change.
1:10:25
SPEAKER_01: I mean, and obviously I'm in the background doing my rehab, but yeah, put me out for a few months and then but by the time I got injured there was about six weeks left of the season where I could get back.
1:10:36
SPEAKER_01: So that was the kind of the the date that I could get back playing, and I had about six weeks left, so I thought to myself, I I love being about the city, like my family's settled in really well here, so I'm gonna get back six weeks and hopefully show the new manager who's just come in that um I can maybe be in his plans, go and forward you.
1:10:54
SPEAKER_01: I mean, get a new deal, whatever, and hopefully get by all the kind of injuries.
1:10:58
SPEAKER_01: So yeah, we got we got to about ten, twelve weeks, and I won't go into too much, but basically something in my rehab wasn't done properly.
1:11:07
SPEAKER_01: There would be we missed out.
1:11:09
SPEAKER_01: Well, we uh there was a bit there was a bit missing from the rehab and what should have been done wasn't done, so um I got second opinion from another physio somewhere else, and they said you need to go back into the gym.
1:11:20
SPEAKER_01: So anyway, that set me back like four weeks.
1:11:22
SPEAKER_01: I had to go back into the gym and do another full week.
1:11:25
SPEAKER_01: So I got back maybe about three weeks left of the season.
1:11:30
SPEAKER_01: Um but it was a bit tough that is.
1:11:32
SPEAKER_01: Ah it was a bit frosty with the person that was looking after Marie Hab at the time and she was really close with the manager, and I felt like there was never really a lot of conversations with Marcus to be honest.
1:11:42
SPEAKER_01: He wasn't one for and I think that goes for a lot.
1:11:45
SPEAKER_03: Doesn't seem like it just seems to me an old school manager doesn't eat office on the pitch.
1:11:52
SPEAKER_01: No, but he didn't want the thing.
1:11:54
SPEAKER_01: There was a few things that I felt personally he could have dealt with that he he kind of gave other people the the the kind of power to go do it.
1:12:04
SPEAKER_01: Do you know there was a few um off-the-pitch things that were going on with a few players and like there was a sports scientist that was kind of told to go and tell me to go home and all this kind of stuff and and it caused a bit of kind of friction between the players and staff sometimes because it was like, well, if this is a manager's call then why why is he why is he no speaking to me?
1:12:24
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
1:12:25
SPEAKER_01: Like he was kind of putting on the like staff, um but anyway, so I think just that situation once I got back ready to train, I was training, and then I was told I was gonna be training with the first team, and then I came in, and it was the sports a young sports scientist who was in and he said, Oh, you're training with me, my like yourself.
1:12:45
SPEAKER_01: I said, No, I'm training, I was buzzing like you get back, proper buzzing.
1:12:49
SPEAKER_01: Um he's like, No, you're training, you're training with me.
1:12:51
SPEAKER_01: And I was like, I'm training with the first team today, like I'm ready to go.
1:12:54
SPEAKER_01: And he's like, No, no, you've been told that you're not training.
1:12:57
SPEAKER_01: So I let it go, and then after training, I pulled the assistant at the time with the was it Gly uh Glenn?
1:13:03
SPEAKER_01: Glenn Glenn's gone.
1:13:04
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I said, like, what's going on?
1:13:06
SPEAKER_01: Like, it's I hope there's no anything like personal.
1:13:08
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
1:13:08
SPEAKER_01: Like, I I was told to train, like, um he's like, No, no, no, like there's nothing you and I and I explained to him, I said, Well, you've got a few young lads there who are like 17-18 training with the first team, like making up the numbers.
1:13:21
SPEAKER_01: You know, don't and I'm like trying to get back fit and try to no no you'll be back in tomorrow.
1:13:26
SPEAKER_01: But anyway, go in the next day, ready to train, get told half an hour again before training that now you're not allowed to train, you have to train with the sports scientist.
1:13:35
SPEAKER_01: So that that pissed me off to be fair, like because there was young boys that were training who no even in the squads or nothing, like so.
1:13:43
SPEAKER_01: I could just tell that I was put to the side and no really giving an explanation, and and then that's when I knew like that was me, do you know what I mean?
1:13:50
SPEAKER_01: Like my time was up, like they're kinda they just didn't want me to train in case I get injured or whatever again, and then maybe they're liable or whatever it was.
1:13:56
SPEAKER_01: But yeah, it was it's annoying and frustrating because that kind of period I I tried to do everything to get back, do you know what I mean?
1:14:04
SPEAKER_01: And there was a few things that were missed, and and it kind of made me I love Khalil, do you know what I mean?
1:14:11
SPEAKER_01: Like we love the city and obviously still passionate about the results and stuff, but there was a few things I was a bit annoyed about that could have been dealt with with a conversation or two.
1:14:19
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
1:14:20
SPEAKER_01: Steve Steve ermuse split pulled me and said, Listen, Dylan, you're not gonna be in the plans going forward.
1:14:27
SPEAKER_01: Um we don't want you getting injured, so work with the physio and now get yourself fit for pre-season and so you're fit somewhere else.
1:14:34
SPEAKER_01: And even train here.
1:14:36
SPEAKER_01: No problem.
1:14:36
SPEAKER_01: If you want to keep yourself, how hard is it to do that though?
1:14:39
SPEAKER_01: There's no problem.
1:14:39
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
1:14:40
SPEAKER_02: And I've had it.
1:14:42
SPEAKER_01: But I wasn't like and I hope like obviously players I've played with know that I'm not I'm not a bad egg.
1:14:46
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
1:14:47
SPEAKER_01: Like I I I always I I'm first in the morning, like I'm not like bringing people down, do you know what I mean?
1:14:52
SPEAKER_01: I was just trying to get fit and trying to get back playing and trying to basically keep myself here so my daughters can still go to school here.
1:14:58
SPEAKER_01: Do you know I mean I was passionate about still being here, so there was a few wee things, do you know, that it kind of sticks in your throat a little bit, but yeah, that's you've been we've all been in the game long enough, though.
1:15:09
SPEAKER_03: We'll all go into a Carl L at some point because that's what it's about, and we'll we'll talk about Carl L careers and we'll go through it in depth.
1:15:15
SPEAKER_03: But uh, we've all been in them situations.
1:15:16
SPEAKER_03: Uh Barnes the I was training on my own.
1:15:18
SPEAKER_03: Gretna, you were spinning class there.
1:15:20
SPEAKER_03: Oh, was I do you know what?
1:15:22
SPEAKER_00: I said no, I've got fit, but you can kick a ball.
1:15:25
SPEAKER_03: Right, last question.
1:15:27
SPEAKER_03: I got one from Baz Robinson, but we're gonna have to keep it for next week for another.
1:15:31
SPEAKER_03: Um right from Tom Fuller, just a quick one to finish.
1:15:35
SPEAKER_03: I remember an interview with Wayne Rooney.
1:15:36
SPEAKER_03: God he gets some mentions now, just catering to the world class.
1:15:40
SPEAKER_03: I remember an interview with Wayne Rooney where he moaned about having to eat spag ball at 9am before a midday kickoff.
1:15:46
SPEAKER_03: We mentioned last week where I was sick of 10 months of the same food.
1:15:50
SPEAKER_03: So, what was your usual pre-match meal and did you have the same every week?
1:15:54
SPEAKER_03: Well, I went by the end of my career, as I said, sick of the same food.
1:15:59
SPEAKER_03: So on an away day, on a Saturday morning, instead of a little bit of toast and then at half eleven scrambled egg, I used to go down nine o'clock, full Monty, sausage, bacon, egg, yeah, enjoy it, back to bed, banana or something at half eleven, done.
1:16:18
SPEAKER_03: So I used to look forward to you know, Magic used to be like that's something for you.
1:16:21
SPEAKER_03: We go with a cardboard.
1:16:22
SPEAKER_03: I was like, nah, double up on the sausage, the beans.
1:16:25
SPEAKER_03: Did you feel better for it?
1:16:26
SPEAKER_03: Class, measuredly class, all sorts for me.
1:16:33
SPEAKER_04: No, we're not Russell Bugger on their bus.
1:16:37
SPEAKER_00: Nah, no, I was just away games, obviously, whatever was on what the options were, but I know I was just beans on toast, like I was pretty straightforward, like, but I want my way to barrack must have a bag of sweet on the way, like, yeah.
1:16:50
SPEAKER_00: But I just got told they were do a good feel.
1:16:53
SPEAKER_00: Obviously, there weren't too many.
1:16:54
SPEAKER_00: See early kickoffs, it's a nightmare, isn't it?
1:16:56
SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I didn't have too many early kickoffs to be fair.
1:16:58
SPEAKER_00: I don't think.
1:16:58
SPEAKER_01: No, no, no.
1:16:59
SPEAKER_01: Yeah, um, yeah, I'm similar, like just the usual, like have some cereal or something in the morning, and then run about half a oven, twelve, have about a pasta on some.
1:17:06
SPEAKER_03: You get them dishes and you get dry pasta, yeah, shiny tomato sauce, which is only got tomatoes.
1:17:12
SPEAKER_03: Then running knee garlic, knee now, no pepper, just shiny tomato sauce, scrambled egg, which could be right or eggs pudding, give or take the chef, beans, skin on them, the lot, and what else?
1:17:24
SPEAKER_03: Toast.
1:17:25
SPEAKER_00: Burn.
1:17:25
SPEAKER_03: I burn toast, you know, digging lass, cheers digging, some of the things you're staying in, like some and just doing B and B's, only and the lasses doing everything by you know trying to help you aye.
1:17:38
SPEAKER_03: And then uh aye, and then then you just remember going to the bin.
1:17:42
SPEAKER_03: Someone's put a bit of scrambled egg in the on the same the different spoon.
1:17:46
SPEAKER_03: Aye, different spoon.
1:17:47
SPEAKER_03: I the spoon there for everything.
1:17:49
SPEAKER_03: Everyone's just someone's just went like that the whole way through.
1:17:51
SPEAKER_03: Tell me that's what I'm saying.
1:17:51
SPEAKER_01: Some of the park you just go with the same spoon when he'll play in the bean.
1:17:55
SPEAKER_01: See if you're not playing though.
1:17:56
SPEAKER_01: Are you like feeling up?
1:17:57
SPEAKER_03: Oh, if I'm if I if I'm that's the only good thing about not playing.
1:18:00
SPEAKER_01: I'm absolutely scrambling.
1:18:01
SPEAKER_01: Even the night before, like when like that's some of the teams that I've been at that we used to go away nights before and stay in hotels and stuff.
1:18:07
SPEAKER_01: Like, see if you knew you weren't playing, like it was a proper, like it's all bullshit, you know.
1:18:11
SPEAKER_01: Load up.
1:18:12
SPEAKER_03: Uh Barnesy were an admin and said you won't be playing Saturday because we haven't paid the fee to Sunderland.
1:18:17
SPEAKER_03: I went, no bother, Friday night, McDonald's, couple of pints, like the biggest McDonald's ever.
1:18:23
SPEAKER_03: Got in the next day, we've paid that fee, but you're gonna start on the bench.
1:18:27
SPEAKER_03: Like, God, injury, come on, ran the show, didn't you?
1:18:32
SPEAKER_03: For fun, so McDonald's.
1:18:33
SPEAKER_00: That happened to me, you know.
1:18:34
SPEAKER_00: We I got left out of Accriton, so I'm right at the other end on the room, halfway through a burger, just out of the tunnel that I had to go in and go on the bench.
1:18:40
SPEAKER_00: I'd didn't get on like that.
1:18:43
SPEAKER_00: Do I leave it or do I finish it?
1:18:44
SPEAKER_00: I left it.
1:18:44
SPEAKER_03: There's been a few throughout the years.
1:18:46
SPEAKER_03: People have gone out the night before, they'd beat Paul and pulled in.
1:18:49
SPEAKER_01: John McGinn, we we shared a flat in Edinburgh um the last season with Ebbs.
1:18:52
SPEAKER_01: He used to get a chippy the night before the game.
1:18:55
SPEAKER_01: So you can see him eating that, can't you?
1:18:56
SPEAKER_01: If you're fit enough, and then he'd go out and run 12k and battle through everybody.
1:19:02
SPEAKER_01: Do you know what I mean?
1:19:02
SPEAKER_01: Obviously, I don't know what he's like down there.
1:19:04
SPEAKER_01: I'd imagine that he's to play at that level.
1:19:06
SPEAKER_01: I think they've probably obviously told me.
1:19:08
SPEAKER_01: I've done fly ups in Chocolate, didn't he?
1:19:10
SPEAKER_01: It wasn't bad.
1:19:11
SPEAKER_03: Well, um, when we played for Carlisle, Andrew Jenkins, God blessing me, pioneer.
1:19:16
SPEAKER_03: We used to go there for Calvary on a Friday before we went down.

SPEAKER_03: Big old Calvary.

SPEAKER_00: I've told you.
1:19:36
SPEAKER_00: He um he's been battling with cancer, and on Thursday, he got told he was cancer free.
1:19:43
SPEAKER_00: After thanks very much.
1:19:45
SPEAKER_00: After spat on it for years, he got told a couple of years ago, he only had a couple of years left.
1:19:49
SPEAKER_00: Um, and he said he would never beat him, and here he is.
1:19:51
SPEAKER_00: So well done, Dad.
