- 0:00It's the people who are the medicine for this planet that requires so much healing and requires healing of us who are the most prone to feeling like they don't deserve to show up.
- 0:22Hello, divine soul.
- 0:24Welcome or welcome back to the Soul Salon.
- 0:26I am so excited to tap into today's message with you because there is a tragedy that I want to share with you.
- 0:34I find it so tragic that it is always the people who need to be seen the most,
- 0:40who are the most terrified, afraid, and ashamed of being seen.
- 0:45This is a deep heartbreak to me that it's the people who are coming from love, light, artistry, compassion, a desire to really help the world, humor, delight, levity, and also pleasure, purpose, soul, who are sitting there stuck in perfectionism and fear of not being good enough, in shame,
- 1:10And whose message is therefore blocked from ever being reached by the people that it is meant for.
- 1:16And yet, let's talk about the other side, babes.
- 1:18Let's talk about the other side.
- 1:19Because I know you know that people who stand for hate, people who stand for, oh, just fear and separation and hierarchy and supremacy, are they afraid of being seen?
- 1:31Are they sitting there like, oh, I'm not good enough to be seen?
- 1:34No.
- 1:34Okay.
- 1:35Are they sitting there worried if they got every word perfectly as they spread their hateful rhetoric?
- 1:40No.
- 1:41We wish they were a little bit more afraid.
- 1:42They're not afraid.
- 1:43And also, let's take it a little bit down a notch because that's the most severe example.
- 1:48People who promote just a toxic, unattainable beauty standard in the way that they portray their lifestyle and their vibration with the world.
- 1:56There's no deeper sort of desire of service.
- 1:59There's no deeper message.
- 2:00It's just...
- 2:02It's just vapid.
- 2:03It's deadening.
- 2:04It's not enlivening.
- 2:05You know, when you're scrolling on Instagram, there's people who enliven you and there's people who make you feel dead inside.
- 2:10And people who make you feel dead inside, are they afraid of being seen?
- 2:13Are they like, oh my word, I'm so scared of people seeing my makeup selfie today.
- 2:18I'm terrified.
- 2:19No, they're not afraid.
- 2:20So we have something in the water that's a little bit suspicious, almost as though the powers that be have conditioned the very people who can lead us to the light to block their own.
- 2:33Almost as if it's the people who are the medicine for this planet that requires so much healing and requires healing of us who are the most prone to feeling like they don't deserve to show up imperfectly.
- 2:50So I want to flip that narrative, babe.
- 2:51I want to say, if you are coming from a place of love, if your intention is,
- 2:58is divine, is pure, is generous.
- 3:01Actually, let's use that word, is generous.
- 3:03Because it can be generous to share your rage, can be generous to share your grief.
- 3:08When we say coming from love, love is the expression of everything.
- 3:12It's just the intention behind it.
- 3:15Where is this coming from?
- 3:16Do I believe this could co-create the kind of world I want to see?
- 3:20Or take us back into the darkness, into the despair, into the depths of darkness,
- 3:29separation and fear and scarcity and all these things and trauma rather than healing.
- 3:35So you, let's talk about you because we're talking in abstract.
- 3:39Why are we doing that?
- 3:39Let's talk about you.
- 3:40You are someone who alchemizes darkness, pain, suffering into light.
- 3:46You are someone who makes the people around you feel more loved, feel seen.
- 3:51You go out of your way.
- 3:53to be thoughtful.
- 3:54You go out of your way to give love, to allow the person who's not feeling included in the group to feel seen.
- 4:02You go out of your way to make people feel like they matter.
- 4:07You bring perspectives and ideas that expand consciousness, that allow people to feel like there's beauty in the world.
- 4:18You have a beauty in your spirit that,
- 4:22And yet this paradigm is trying to hyper fixate our attention on a toxic and destructive and limited notion of beauty in a physical sense.
- 4:37But it's not even beauty.
- 4:39Okay?
- 4:40It is supremacy, colonialism, patriarchy, ableism, anti-fatness.
- 4:44It's all of those things which can never be beautiful, can they?
- 4:46Do they sound beautiful to us?
- 4:47No, no, no, no, no, they're not beautiful.
- 4:49It's a packaging of beauty, what Jessica DeFino calls an industrialized version of beauty versus a spiritual beauty.
- 4:58The spiritual beauty of a song, the spiritual beauty of your
- 5:04But it's not like coming from a place of because she meets this toxic beauty standard.
- 5:08It's a beauty that flows from the love and the richness and the affection and adoration.
- 5:15Like this is the most divine angelic force who loves you and you love.
- 5:20Right.
- 5:20So you look at them and you see this beautiful face.
- 5:23That is a kind of beauty that is not the beauty of what we are being sold and packaged.
- 5:29OK, you hear what I'm saying?
- 5:30You feel me.
- 5:31So you have that deeper beauty.
- 5:33That we need so desperately in this life.
- 5:35You have beauty of the spirit.
- 5:37You have beauty of purpose.
- 5:40Because you genuinely want to help people.
- 5:42If you go through something.
- 5:44That caused you suffering.
- 5:45And you learn something that helps.
- 5:46You want to share that with people.
- 5:47You want people to know.
- 5:47You're like everyone should know about this.
- 5:51If you have.
- 5:52If you have.
- 5:53a challenge that you face, you want to find the music and alchemy and then you feel called to share it.
- 5:59So those people who are doing that work of alchemy, which you are, you need to be seen.
- 6:06And I know there's a voice in your head that's saying, but I'm not good enough, but it's embarrassing, but it's cringe.
- 6:11And you know what's so hard is facing yourself.
- 6:16Facing yourself.
- 6:17Recording the video is one thing.
- 6:18That's challenging, okay?
- 6:20Watching the video.
- 6:21Oh my goodness.
- 6:22That is an Olympic feat.
- 6:25Watching yourself, especially when you have all the voices in your head.
- 6:31That came from such an early age, like an orchestra, either internal, external, both probably.
- 6:36That you're not good enough, that you sound a certain way, that your voice is this, that your accent is this, that da-da-da, that you look a certain way, da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da.
- 6:43All the voices coming through.
- 6:45And so then you're facing yourself.
- 6:48And we need you to face you so that we can face you.
- 6:51That's the first step the artist takes.
- 6:53For the singer to get to a point where she sings, shares her voice with the world, first she faced her own voice.
- 6:58First she sang in a bathroom, in a bedroom.
- 7:01First she sang in the elevator.
- 7:03She got intimacy with her own voice.
- 7:05She developed.
- 7:06And then eventually it bubbled out of her.
- 7:08And I believe this is actually kind of like an orgasmic state.
- 7:11That's what creativity is, is lovemaking.
- 7:15Meaning I love this moment so much I want to write a poem about it.
- 7:20You know, I feel...
- 7:23So strongly about this idea, I want it to bubble out of me.
- 7:26I want you to feel the energy and vibration of how passionately I feel.
- 7:30It's kind of like a creative orgasmic state because we have this limited understanding of what sexual energy is, but actually it's flowing through everything.
- 7:38Everything around you is a manifestation of someone's desire for it to exist.
- 7:43Someone desired a painting so much that they woke up every morning and they went to the studio and they painted it.
- 7:49Is that not a sense of this erotic energy that flowed through them that sought expression?
- 7:54Okay, how did we get here?
- 7:56Who knows?
- 7:57So when we are so full of our creative power and desire and dreams...
- 8:08it then erupts and flows out of us.
- 8:11And that is what is seeking to be visible.
- 8:13That energy doesn't want to stay in you.
- 8:16You know, there are things we write for ourselves, we make for ourselves, but even that we can see it doesn't want to stay in our consciousness.
- 8:22It wants to leap into the page.
- 8:24It wants to leap into a poem, into a song, into vibration, into frequency.
- 8:28It wants to be expressed.
- 8:30It wants to pour out of us.
- 8:32And then it gets to a place where you're like, I want other people to experience this.
- 8:36This idea wants to be experienced by more people.
- 8:39Because ideas are the nature of reality.
- 8:42We are all living the way we're living because someone had the idea for us to be living it.
- 8:45So it's all about imagination, which precedes reality.
- 8:48So you have the kind of imagination that can take us to a place that co-creates heaven on earth, utopia for all, with the music you make, with the sounds and the music and the sound healing maybe you create, with your words and your language and your world building.
- 9:05So when I really advocate for you being seen, it's because, let's think about this.
- 9:10Let's think about the unrealized potential.
- 9:14Now, when we are taught this idea, it's really framed in the individual sense that you are here to actualize your highest potential on earth so that when you get to the end of your life, you don't regret that you could have done and been more.
- 9:28And you feel like you gave your everything to this one wild, precious life, in the words of Mary Oliver.
- 9:35So that is one way to see it, but it is very individualistic.
- 9:39What about at a collective level?
- 9:41Imagine we all have potential within us to be a source of love to the collective.
- 9:47So let's say I have a voice, right?
- 9:49I like to sing.
- 9:50Let's say there's a version of me who makes music that allows people to feel loved.
- 9:53Okay, so there's a potential within me.
- 9:55But then let's say I say, oh, but I'm afraid I'm not a good enough singer.
- 9:58Okay, let's say I say that.
- 9:59So now we have all the ripple effects that would have unfolded if I had made this music that make people feel loved.
- 10:06That makes people feel loved.
- 10:08And let's say you, you have stories you write and these stories just open up this whimsical energy within people.
- 10:14where they feel connected to their inner child and they feel like they have incredible dreams and they're suddenly seeing the world differently and they're more playful and they have more energy when they're around children.
- 10:23So they treat children where in a way that's more nurturing to their imagination.
- 10:27So the ripple effects of your stories is this whimsical energy that flows through you.
- 10:32So now let's say, but now you think, oh, the stories are not good enough.
- 10:34They could use more editing.
- 10:35So you don't share the stories.
- 10:37So now we have all the ripple effects of what those stories would have created in the world not happening.
- 10:42So what you can see is we're one.
- 10:43I'm one person.
- 10:44You're one person.
- 10:45Eight billion of us.
- 10:46If we all have unrealized light that wants to be expressed through us, but we're so stuck in shame, fear, perfectionism that it never comes.
- 10:54That means there's a whole unrealized dimension of reality that is waiting for us to claim it.
- 11:00Ha ha.
- 11:02It's waiting for us to say this is what we want to make for each other.
- 11:08So then it becomes less about my individual potential and what I may regret at the end of my life.
- 11:14And it becomes about the collective's potential to experience love and light through me.
- 11:21And it becomes about...
- 11:26being a channel for the collective's well-being.
- 11:29And it becomes about all of us acknowledging that there is always a dormant possibility seeking to be born in each of us.
- 11:36We are a womb for creation.
- 11:37What will we give birth to?
- 11:39What will we allow ourselves to be the home of?
- 11:42And if we think about it at a small scale, it may seem like, oh, but it's just a sub-stack essay.
- 11:46It's just a song.
- 11:47It's just a photograph.
- 11:49It's just an exhibition.
- 11:50It's just an event.
- 11:51But let's, we are one.
- 11:53Let's zoom out and see all of the GIST songs.
- 11:57See all of the GIST books.
- 11:59See all of the GIST poems that aren't being made because we don't feel worthy of the making.
- 12:04And then of the seeing of those things being witnessed.
- 12:07And we see that there's actually a whole other frequency we could be living on if we all stepped into that light energy of sharing what we are here to share in this lifetime.
- 12:17If we all showed up and we said, you know what?
- 12:19I have videos to make.
- 12:20I'm going to make my videos.
- 12:22Everyone has had their life changed by a video who's watching this.
- 12:25I mean, listen.
- 12:26So now...
- 12:29Imagine all those people who made the videos that are changing you.
- 12:33If they allowed the fear to stop them, then all the ripple effects just in your life that wouldn't have happened.
- 12:37And now take that out and extrapolate that to everyone else who watches their videos and look at all the potential in the collective that we are here to unlock.
- 12:48So the reason why people like you must be seen is because you help unlock our potential to be more in alignment with the highest possibility, which is love.
- 12:59which is union, togetherness, communion, freedom, freedom, liberation.
- 13:06Okay.
- 13:06And this is the legacy we've all inherited.
- 13:09Okay.
- 13:10All of us are here in part because people have fought and lost their lives, been unalived to systemically create more freedom for the collective.
- 13:24Now they might've not seen it that way in the moment,
- 13:28But we all stand on those shoulders.
- 13:29So who will we allow to stand on ours?
- 13:33So what you must do, I believe, is you sacrifice the ego protection in order for the soul expression.
- 13:39You say, I'm willing to be judged.
- 13:41You say, today I was doing my eyebrows.
- 13:45And I was like, I don't like, they don't look great.
- 13:47Because of course we live in this toxic beauty standard.
- 13:49So I have that voice.
- 13:50I told you there's an orchestra.
- 13:52So there's that voice in my head that's always policing us.
- 13:55That's telling me, oh, but I say, but I have a message.
- 13:57What the fuck do my eyebrows have to do with a message?
- 14:00You see, that's what they want.
- 14:01Beauty is a distracting force.
- 14:03It's trying to suck all your energy into it so that it distracts you from doing your work.
- 14:08Is my work to have eyebrows that look the way that this society and culture that's so messed up told me to look?
- 14:14No.
- 14:14And I have a lot of different forms of beauty privilege.
- 14:17Yeah.
- 14:18Even within that context, what I'm saying is that's not my work.
- 14:21Did I come to earth to have a certain kind of eyebrow, to look a certain kind of way?
- 14:24Or do I have a message?
- 14:26And is that a distraction?
- 14:28Now, this does not take away.
- 14:29People are mean.
- 14:29People are hateful.
- 14:30There's hate comments.
- 14:31I'm not taking away from.
- 14:32I'm not saying this is easy.
- 14:35I'm saying we are sacrificing what people may say about our egos because we know that we have a soul resonance that is trying to cut through the bullshit into the light, into the heart to awaken something in someone so that they go and they write that idea down or they start that organization or they host that event.
- 14:54Right.
- 14:54Or they finally forgive themselves and say, you know what, I'm worthy of compassion and I did the best that I could with the information that I had.
- 15:00And I don't need to hold on to the shame for the rest of my life because who benefits from that?
- 15:03except the pals that be that want to shame me, okay?
- 15:06So we say, what am I here to invoke?
- 15:09What am I here to awaken?
- 15:11And therefore, if you judge my eyebrows, babes, that's okay.
- 15:14I can live with that.
- 15:16And therefore, if you say, you should have said it this way, oh, that's okay.
- 15:19If you say, why are you only quoting these kinds of people?
- 15:21That's okay.
- 15:22I accept.
- 15:24That is my cross to bear.
- 15:25I accept it.
- 15:26I say, that's fine.
- 15:27I say, it's okay.
- 15:28I say, it's okay.
- 15:29You know, in many of my interviews, because I'm now stepping into podcast interviews, and many of them, I'm like, oh my goodness, I didn't say this, and I didn't say that, and I didn't ask that, and I didn't comment this, and I didn't include this, and I didn't, and I didn't, and I didn't, and I didn't, and I didn't, and I didn't, and I didn't, and I didn't, and I didn't, and I didn't, and it's like, oh my goodness.
- 15:44There's so much criticism.
- 15:46But I say, that is my cross to bear.
- 15:48Even if people do comment,
- 15:50You didn't do this.
- 15:51And maybe they're right because there's always a kernel of truth.
- 15:53That's what I believe in conflict resolution.
- 15:54You must always acknowledge there's a kernel of truth in what your partner is saying and what your friend is saying.
- 15:59Even if you don't like the image it reflects of you because you're like, I'm not that.
- 16:02I'm not that kind of person.
- 16:03That's not how I see myself.
- 16:05There's a kernel of truth.
- 16:06And part of their soul's purpose has been to bring it to you.
- 16:10So receive it.
- 16:11So, yes, even if people comment certain things that I don't like, there's a kernel of truth within them.
- 16:15It's painful, but there's a kernel.
- 16:16Right.
- 16:17And yes, they could have said it in a kinder way.
- 16:19Yes, they could have said it in a more compassionate way, but also there is a kernel.
- 16:22Fine.
- 16:23So even if people do say that, even if people say, oh, you do this and you always do this and you don't do this enough, that is my cross to bear because I have something to share that I need.
- 16:36That needs to be experienced.
- 16:38It needs to be experienced.
- 16:40And so like anything in life, no one is all, you know, there's polarity to everything and everyone.
- 16:45So there are certain things that I'm going to say or do that are going to not be
- 16:50the highest expression possible because who is like that?
- 16:52We'd all be God.
- 16:53Then we'd all be what we are, but we'd all be like angels.
- 16:56We wouldn't be in the human realm if we were here to be perfect.
- 16:59If we just always said the perfect thing, did the perfect thing, that wouldn't be human.
- 17:04We've come here to be a manifestation of the divine in a human form, which means our perfect imperfections, quote unquote, are the point, you know, they're not a deviation.
- 17:12We're not doing something wrong.
- 17:13They are what we are here to grapple with and experience.
- 17:17So I accept that.
- 17:20That there are aspects of me that are going to have a kind of impact that I'm not proud of or that I don't resonate with.
- 17:26That's okay.
- 17:27But where are we going with this?
- 17:29The point is that the people who need to be seen the most are the ones who resist visibility because of their fears of imperfection.
- 17:41And I'm inviting you to reframe perfectionism to the fear of imperfection.
- 17:46Start saying to yourself, you know what, I'm afraid of imperfection.
- 17:50When I make a video, I'm afraid that I said the wrong thing.
- 17:53I'm afraid that it's not okay to be anything but perfect.
- 17:57And that is conditioned, especially in a patriarchal society.
- 18:00Okay, that is conditioned within...
- 18:03Okay, that's been conditioned in an anti-black society, etc.
- 18:09And in a society that is supremacist and hierarchical.
- 18:13So then if someone has to win, then someone has to lose in a competitive capitalist society, right?
- 18:18So if you say, okay, I have a fear of imperfection, but what do I want to serve?
- 18:23Do I want to serve this fear of imperfection or do I want to serve the light?
- 18:26Do I want to serve the power of my message?
- 18:28Do I want to serve my ancestors trying to speak through me?
- 18:30Do I want to serve the energy I've been given?
- 18:33I want to serve that energy.
- 18:34So that's what I'm going to do.
- 18:36And I'm going to notice, okay, but people who have light, love, liberation to share with the world have a tendency to be afraid of being seen.
- 18:50And so as I encounter this discomfort in my body, I feel it.
- 18:54I feel it.
- 18:54Can I be the allowance for?
- 18:58of the love that wants to speak through me?
- 19:00Can I resist the temptation of listening to the voice of criticism within me?
- 19:05Can I say, I see you, I hear you, I feel you, but I'm not gonna let you lead me because where are you gonna lead me to?
- 19:11No way that serves love, no way that serves divinity, no way that serves the kind of world that I wish to see.
- 19:18So as we feel this energy is coming to a sort of natural, like, what's the word?
- 19:27Resolution.
- 19:29Never think that your fear of being seen makes you less qualified to be seen, makes you less worthy of being seen, makes you less deserving of being seen, makes you less destined to be seen.
- 19:43Let me say that again.
- 19:44Never let your fear of being seen make you think that that makes you less destined to be seen.
- 19:56It is your destiny to be seen.
- 20:00And in all the parables and all the tales, when a protagonist is invited into their destiny, their hero's journey, what do they feel?
- 20:09Afraid.
- 20:09What are they sent?
- 20:10Guides.
- 20:13Support.
- 20:15What do they become?
- 20:16Guides.
- 20:18Support.
- 20:19So the fear could actually indicate it's meant for you.
- 20:24And the fear could also indicate it's meant through you.
- 20:27Because if a world is trying to burst through us, a world that is more loving, a world that is more free, then the bearers, the guardians, the mothers, the parents of that world are going to face fear in the birthing of it.
- 20:45When you see someone give birth, they look afraid to me.
- 20:50They don't look like they face no resistance in the process of giving birth.
- 20:55And yet we have in our spirit as humans the capacity to do things in the face of fear and to not allow that fear to stop us.
- 21:04So if we are all trying to actually we've been tasked with birthing a more loving possibility for future generations.
- 21:14then we will face just like that screaming, painful, wailing energy of giving birth.
- 21:21We will face that within ourselves.
- 21:24We will face suffering.
- 21:28We will face fear.
- 21:30We will face the concern that we don't have what it takes.
- 21:34And yet this world that's trying to come through us, it needs us to believe in it.
- 21:38This new earth rising.
- 21:40You are part of that rising.
- 21:42Right?
- 21:43And you might minimize your role by thinking it's just a this, it's just a that.
- 21:47That is how the world changes.
- 21:50It doesn't happen in these, it's tiny, tiny, tiny things that compound.
- 21:58Okay?
- 22:00And we must remember the ripple effects of your visibility.
- 22:04Who are you here to inspire?
- 22:07Who are you here to unlock?
- 22:08Who are you here to help inspire?
- 22:10return to what they already know but have struggled to accept embody or actualize what is the tiny ripple effect of someone seeing you and your truth what is the tiny ripple effect of one word you will say one sentence you will share that you don't even think is the point of your essay or of your message what is the impact the ripple effect and then you keep
- 22:39You see, if you're watching the video, what I'm doing is you keep that pattern like a fractal.
- 22:46You keep it going.
- 22:47Two, two, two, two.
- 22:50You inspire someone.
- 22:53So then that person is a mother and that inspires that mother to sign their child up for a class.
- 22:59And that class allows that child to express in a certain way that signs that child up.
- 23:05And suddenly we're in a whole different world.
- 23:07So don't underestimate your power, babes.
- 23:09Life is like that.
- 23:11We don't understand the power of compounding.
- 23:14Now it's sounding like an investing talk, but we don't understand.
- 23:21we don't understand.
- 23:22We don't understand how tiny things add up to big things.
- 23:27So the tiny you think, this video got 200 views.
- 23:31This video got 20 views.
- 23:33But it's about the depth of impact, not the breadth.
- 23:37Okay.
- 23:38How deeply can I be felt versus how broadly can I be seen?
- 23:42How deeply can this resonate versus how widely can it be spread?
- 23:46Now, obviously, many of us, we seek both and that's okay.
- 23:50But just trust, you know, trust in your generosity.
- 23:53This is what I like to say.
- 23:55So the same force, there's a force.
- 23:57We don't understand it, right?
- 23:59There's something, something, somewhere, somehow that created the sun.
- 24:05Can you imagine that?
- 24:06Such a powerful force.
- 24:08Created the sun, okay?
- 24:09Okay.
- 24:10And we're living in the solar system.
- 24:12All these planets are rotating around the sun.
- 24:14Here on Earth, and I'm sure on other planets, we can sustain life.
- 24:18And the sun is part of how we do so.
- 24:20That force created the sunshine.
- 24:22That force created the oceans.
- 24:24That force created the possibility of infinite creation.
- 24:27So we think there's the theory that we live in an energy.
- 24:31an infinite universe an ever expanding universe with no bounds to it okay that's not been proven but some people have some scientists have that that theory right we live in an infinite cosmos something created now some force created that when you looked to the eclipse if you saw it when you look at a sunset and you're like how did all those colors come together
- 24:57When it's been a long day and you have a sip of water after feeling dehydrated and you think, oh my word, this is everything my body needed.
- 25:04When you have a dream and you can't fathom, how did this even happen?
- 25:08I'm panting like I was running in the forest, but I'm right here in this bed.
- 25:11And I'm seeing visions that resolve things in my emotional psychological world.
- 25:16And that also resolve the poem that I'm writing or the screenplay that I'm creating.
- 25:22I'm dreaming, okay?
- 25:25The same force that created the possibility of love between two humans, that feeling of sweetness and care, that feeling of so many emotions being held because you love someone so much.
- 25:35That force that created flavor and sound and the possibility of music.
- 25:45It also created you.
- 25:52The same force that created the sunlight, that created sound, that created energy.
- 26:08A smile.
- 26:11A song, or the possibility of a song.
- 26:14A bird chirping and singing.
- 26:18A peacock.
- 26:22How generous a peacock is.
- 26:24Like, it didn't need to be that detailed and delicious and absolutely gorgeous, did it?
- 26:31But the universe source, the divine was that imaginative, that creative that it said, no, no, no, more feathers.
- 26:39No, no, no.
- 26:40More luminescence, more magnificence, more flair, more flamboyance.
- 26:46Let's make let's make the let's make the flamingo stand on one leg.
- 26:51Why am I doing a British accent?
- 26:53Because I'm a clown.
- 26:54But let's.
- 26:56play with color let's play with sound let's give them these vocal folds that can make music okay bye it's actually crazy looking at the voice please go look at a diagram of the voice if you do one thing today it's crazy okay that force created you babes so i mean don't you ever don't
- 27:27The sun didn't come here to be kept to itself.
- 27:31The moon didn't come to just sit in a cave by itself and witness itself.
- 27:37We have come here to be generous, to be given.
- 27:41We're a gift.
- 27:42We're a gift.
- 27:43The difference between our gift is we have to choose to consent, to do the work, to devote to the giving.
- 27:49So devote.
- 27:51Okay?
- 27:52But it starts with you believing that you are generous.
- 27:55It starts with you have, you have to, you sit there and you think to yourself, no, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, I'm generous.
- 28:02Like, it's a gift to experience me.
- 28:05Like,
- 28:07People should people people get to know me.
- 28:11You got to feel that way.
- 28:12You got to think that.
- 28:13That's why I don't write things down.
- 28:14I haven't written a thing down because I say you get to experience me.
- 28:17I got it.
- 28:17I got it.
- 28:17I got it.
- 28:18I got to give the people what I got to give the people what I can give.
- 28:21I got to give the people myself because I'm a gift.
- 28:24OK, I'm a gift.
- 28:26I don't need to.
- 28:27Oh, what if you said this factory?
- 28:28I don't know.
- 28:29Who cares?
- 28:29You have chat.
- 28:30It's not about the facts.
- 28:32It's about the frequency.
- 28:34OK.
- 28:35Okay, so I say to myself, first I need to believe I'm writing.
- 28:40Oh, can I say these words?
- 28:42Can I hold them?
- 28:43I'm writing a book.
- 28:45I started a book project, finally putting all my thoughts on being seen into a place.
- 28:52Okay, a book.
- 28:54And let's see where it goes.
- 28:56But I started it.
- 28:57And I was, you know, what a book allows, what writing allows is really clarifying the structure of...
- 29:05And the clarity, I would say, like the.
- 29:10I'm a speaker naturally, not a writer naturally, I do write, but I mean, you know, all of us really as a species, we didn't evolve to write.
- 29:19We came to write, but it's not like speaking where like we evolved to we are evolutionarily like designed to speak right.
- 29:27So anyway, that follows for me.
- 29:29Now, there are people who are the opposite.
- 29:30They're more writers than speakers.
- 29:31They're more painters than this.
- 29:32We are here as expansive, expressive beings.
- 29:34Nothing is better or worse.
- 29:36But what it is helping me to do, what writing does, is it slows you down and it shows you, what do I actually know?
- 29:44What is seeking to be known through me in a slower way?
- 29:47Because as a speaker, it's more fluid.
- 29:49I'm like, it's all here and I'm like dancing with it.
- 29:52But as a writer, I slow down, okay?
- 29:53Okay.
- 29:54Writing in some ways, it's such a beautiful craft.
- 29:56It also pains me, but I think that's because editing pains me.
- 29:59So if you're an editor, holler at me.
- 30:02But I also don't really answer emails.
- 30:03But I'm working on it.
- 30:05I'm working on it.
- 30:06I was not born for these times.
- 30:10Okay, so what it's helping me do is clarify the step by step.
- 30:13And the first step, I was like, what do they need to know first?
- 30:16What do they need to believe?
- 30:17Like for someone to allow themselves to be seen with soul, to be seen in a way that helps us co-create heaven on earth, what would they need to believe?
- 30:25They would need to believe in themselves.
- 30:26They would need to believe in their own generosity.
- 30:29And when we say believe in yourself, sometimes we think we need to believe in us, but we need to believe through us.
- 30:37Through us.
- 30:38Through me, something wants to emerge.
- 30:42If I believe I'm a gift, you know, we speak about the artist as a channel.
- 30:46So they're receiving the divine, but who is it for?
- 30:49Who is the divine trying to access?
- 30:51It is the person on the other side as well.
- 30:53Okay?
- 30:55If the divine does everything to channel the song through me, it's also because the divine loves who's going to listen to it.
- 31:02Okay?
- 31:02Okay.
- 31:03So...
- 31:05channeling okay for them so if you believe you are that through line you are that conduit you are that gift to be given then maybe you lean into it more and you let go a little bit of the perfectionism you let go a little bit of the idea that it has to be a certain way because that is self-oriented you're looking at yourself I'm not good enough I didn't say enough I I I I I instead of okay so we shifting from
- 31:35What can I get?
- 31:36Which when we're in perfectionism, we want to get approval.
- 31:38We want to get someone saying this is okay.
- 31:41Because we were conditioned to believe that is the highest possibility is someone just telling us we're okay.
- 31:47And so we're trying to get people to say this is good enough rather than what am I trying to give?
- 31:53So we're shifting from ego to soul.
- 31:55The soul is here as a source that already knows itself.
- 31:58It doesn't require validation.
- 32:00The soul isn't looking for people to tell it it's worthy.
- 32:04You know, it's a knowing.
- 32:06It's a place of knowing within.
- 32:07It already knows.
- 32:09Your soul already knows.
- 32:11So when we share from that place, I don't need, you know, it's lovely to receive beautiful messages of light.
- 32:17But the soul already knows.
- 32:19And what's also really beautiful that I believe is in a greater soul.
- 32:24So I think if you're still here, I mean, we are like people.
- 32:33drawing from or mosaics of the same soul it's like when my best friend he'll say something and it's like I was literally thinking that I needed to tell that to him and so it's like are we one mind and
- 32:51just experiencing itself split into two?
- 32:54In some ways, I believe so.
- 32:56So it's like that soul resonance.
- 32:57That's what we are here.
- 32:58We are soul siblings, meaning we're resonating on the same frequency.
- 33:02We are that deeper part of us comes from the same.
- 33:05It's like the continents of the soul.
- 33:08Like those were from the same continent of the soul.
- 33:11Okay.
- 33:12And so obviously we have our own unique expressions, but there's a resonance, right?
- 33:16There's a frequency there that's like, ooh,
- 33:20And so when we allow that part of ourselves to be seen, which is what the world needs...
- 33:25Does the world need more egos to be seen?
- 33:27Like when we say be more seen, do we mean like, that's why I said people who just don't stand for something in their visibility that helps people.
- 33:35I don't think that we need more of that.
- 33:37Sorry.
- 33:37People are just promoting consumerism, buying things or like, do we need more of that?
- 33:43I don't know.
- 33:44Not everyone needs to be seen.
- 33:45Actually, it's not about being the person.
- 33:48It's about what aspect of themselves they allow to be visible.
- 33:51So anyways, we've been on such a journey and I feel like the journey has journeyed.
- 33:54I feel like we've been on an adventure.
- 33:56I feel like you understand by now that the fact that you're afraid of being seen means you're part of the soul collective of people who desperately need to be seen.
- 34:06Not as in you need to be seen, as in we need to desperately see you.
- 34:09So the desperation is there.
- 34:11It's in us.
- 34:12We desperately need to see you.
- 34:13We desperately need your medicine.
- 34:15We desperately need what only you can give.
- 34:18Because of the ripple effects of your giving.
- 34:21And so we are part of the collective that feels the fear and we do it anyway.
- 34:25We are afraid to be seen and we choose to do it anyway.
- 34:29We are afraid to be judged and we say, but this is my, I don't know how you feel about the word sacrifice.
- 34:37It has to be said that it is involved in sort of every spiritual understanding that there's a sacrifice that is made, but let's call it, this is my response.
- 34:45This is my devotion.
- 34:49I'm so devoted to what could be possible that I'm willing to face the possibilities I wouldn't have chosen for myself along the way.
- 34:57That is my generosity.
- 34:58To be so generous to the collective spirit that I'm willing to withstand what most people run away from, which is the fact that people may judge me, the fact that I may judge myself.
- 35:12And I'm going to choose this dream in so many different tiny ways.
- 35:16I'm going to choose to be seen because something wants to be seen through me.
- 35:23I'm going to choose to write my ideas down because something wants to be written and expressed through me.
- 35:29But that means that something wants to be read through me.
- 35:33Ha!
- 35:33Do you hear it?
- 35:34Do you feel it?
- 35:35Okay, I'm going to choose to write because something wants to be written through me.
- 35:42which means that something wants to be read through me.
- 35:49I'm going to choose to speak because something wants to be spoken through me, because something wants to be heard through me.
- 36:01So I'm an instrument.
- 36:04I'm an instrument.
- 36:08And there's a way, you know how an instrument, the resonance also comes from the cavity that is held.
- 36:14You know, like you can't just have strings.
- 36:16You need the box to hold the strings.
- 36:17You can't just have skin.
- 36:20You need the drum to hold.
- 36:23There's a part of resonance that requires a container.
- 36:28So everything that you have held in this life is part of your container that creates your resonance.
- 36:34And that sound that you produce,
- 36:37is seeking to be experienced, heard, and felt through you.
- 36:41So you surrender that people may say, oh, I don't like this drum.
- 36:44You surrender that people may say, I don't like the look of this drum.
- 36:46You surrender the fact that people may say, this drum could have been this, could have been bigger, could have been smaller.
- 36:51This drum, take that bigger, smaller out.
- 36:53This drum could have been different.
- 36:55You surrender and you say, but I make a sound.
- 36:59Okay?
- 37:02There's sound being made in a greater song and dance
- 37:07that is seeking to be sung, expressed through me.
- 37:13And I honor that and I hold that and I join the people who've come before me who have been generous, who have sacrificed how people might have seen or received them in order to do their life's work.
- 37:26I'm sending so much love to you.
- 37:27This was a very powerful soul session.
- 37:29I hope that you received.
- 37:30I hope that you enjoyed.
- 37:31I hope that you feel when you make your video, when you post publish on your sub stack, when you send an email and you worry you're being annoying or people unsubscribe and you think, oh my goodness, I feel so rejected.
- 37:42I feel so unloved.
- 37:43I feel so unseen.
- 37:45I hope that you hold that this is part of what
- 37:51what our soul's purpose and expression is asking of us in this lifetime.
- 37:58And you are not alone.
- 37:59We are doing this work with you.
- 38:00Comment below.
- 38:01Feel the frequency.
- 38:02Feel the energy.
- 38:05of people being brave with their voice, with their art, with their heart, okay?
- 38:09Because we are heartists over here.
- 38:11We are heart-led artists.
- 38:13So we are being vulnerable, we're being brave, and we're trusting that the fact that we are afraid may simply mean that this is our destiny.
- 38:22Because we are conscious of the fear of,
- 38:26We're conscious of the magnitude and yet we're doing it anyway.
- 38:31And that's so magical and brave.
- 38:34And I think that is something to be so proud of at the end of our lives and during.
- 38:38No matter what unfolds through the happening.
- 38:43To be brave, to be generous, to have lived a life where you try to give to the world.
- 38:48I mean...
- 38:50I think that's such a life well lived.
- 38:52I think that's, you know, and well lived through you.
- 38:55Like the collective looking at your life thinking, thank you, thank you, thank you.
- 39:02We are going to close this soul session with an invitation.
- 39:05If there's someone whose visibility has moved you, it could be a writer, a singer, a musician.
- 39:13It could be a content creator, a speaker, a host, a podcaster.
- 39:19It could be an actor whose performances have completely changed your life, a director, a director.
- 39:28Anyone who has changed you and part of that changing could only have happened through them being witnessed in it, through them being seen in it, because there are so many people who...
- 39:40change our lives and we don't realize the sacrifice they made in allowing themselves to change our lives.
- 39:46You know what I mean?
- 39:47Maybe they wrote a book that they were terrified their parents would read and would see their truth told from their perspective as a child, but obviously would go against the parent's image.
- 39:56Again, kernel of truth or the whole truth.
- 39:59Or maybe they sacrificed everyone they went to grew up with who said, you'll never be a good singer.
- 40:05You'll never be a pop star.
- 40:06And they sacrificed their approval.
- 40:09We don't see the invisible ways that someone has allowed their dream to break their heart, that someone has allowed their fear to break.
- 40:19to be felt, but not to block them from their purpose.
- 40:23We don't see all the tiny ways someone has chosen us as their listeners, as their readers, over their own ego, their own comfort, their own desire or need to be liked or approved of.
- 40:34We don't see it.
- 40:35So I'm gonna invite you to write a letter to someone whose visibility has moved you, changed you, shifted you.
- 40:42And just get creative.
- 40:43Imagine what they might have had to overcome in that process.
- 40:46Maybe there's an essay you return to again and again.
- 40:49You don't imagine that that you just think it's an incredible essay.
- 40:52You don't imagine that maybe they were stressed.
- 40:54Maybe they were fearful that it wasn't good enough.
- 40:57Maybe they were fearful that it had been said before.
- 40:59Maybe they were fearful that it would never be published or never be received.
- 41:03Maybe they almost didn't publish it.
- 41:04Maybe it was their least favorite essay.
- 41:06Someone told them it was good and they chose to share it.
- 41:08We don't know what someone had to face, but we know that artists, because we're so sensitive, there was a facing.
- 41:14There was a facing.
- 41:15So let's write little love letters to people who have been brave with how they've allowed themselves to be seen.
- 41:20Brave with the music they've made.
- 41:22Brave with the...
- 41:23frequency they've shared.
- 41:24Brave with their voice, brave with their dreams, brave with their ideas and thank them and then feel the resonance in your words, in your letter.
- 41:30Thank you so much for writing.
- 41:32Audrey Lord, that essay that changed me, the book actually starts with a quote from
- 41:39from Audre Lorde, because that essay, The Transformation of Silence into Language and Action, completely changed me.
- 41:44It's like the birthing place of everything that I was allowed to, within myself, be seen in through that essay.
- 41:51So thank you so much for writing this.
- 41:53I don't know, you know, she wrote about her experience with cancer.
- 41:56You know, it takes so much courage to allow yourself to be seen in your vulnerability.
- 42:00She wrote about the ways that she had hoped silence would save her, but it didn't.
- 42:07She wrote about her pain.
- 42:08She wrote about her power.
- 42:11And that takes courage.
- 42:12I don't know what it has taken, but I can imagine, you know, I can imagine this incredible black lesbian revolutionary woman, mother, mother.
- 42:24Poet, writer, I can imagine living at a certain time.
- 42:28I can imagine, like, thank you so much for allowing your words to be seen, for showing up for your work when it wasn't seen, for showing up and doing the invisible work.
- 42:37Because we're talking about visibility, but visibility is the tip of the iceberg.
- 42:40To be seen, it's all the invisible work that allowed that person to be seen.
- 42:45You know what I mean?
- 42:46And life is like that.
- 42:47It's like the compounding thing where it's like we see the tiniest aspect of anything.
- 42:51We may see the person on the stage performing, but not all the rehearsals and all the tiny ways they've been singing since they were five years old or whatever it is.
- 42:59You know, we see the person on the podcast being interviewed about the book, but not all the invisible hours writing the book.
- 43:05We see the book be turned into an HBO show, but not all the years it took to publish.
- 43:09You know what I mean?
- 43:10So we thank you for your invisible work, but we also thank you for allowing your work to be visible.
- 43:15Because you could be that iceberg, babes.
- 43:17You could have all the structure underneath you, but never allow yourself to burst through.
- 43:22For example, let's actually change metaphors to a plant.
- 43:26to a plant, you could have the entire root system.
- 43:28You are rooted.
- 43:30You are fed.
- 43:30You are held.
- 43:31You are supported.
- 43:32You are receiving signs, signals.
- 43:34You're receiving messages, guides.
- 43:35You are so supported.
- 43:36You have everything you need, but you could still not allow yourself to burst through and blossom.
- 43:43And so we thank you for the invisible work, but we also thank you for allowing yourself to be seen, experienced, to leave the womb of safety and into the world screaming, wailing, crying.
- 43:55Because if it was up to part of you, you would never have left.
- 43:58That takes courage.
- 43:59That takes vision.
- 44:00That takes a willingness to be generous because now that baby gets to be the light of so many people's lives and grow up to transform the world.
- 44:11I'm sending so much love to you.
- 44:13I'm sending so much love through you.
- 44:14I hope you enjoyed today's soul session and that it has served your deepest consciousness.
- 44:18You are generous.
- 44:19You are a gift.
- 44:20You deserve to be seen.
- 44:21Let us all step into sharing our love and light with the world and trusting that a
- 44:26higher happening is trying to unfold.
- 44:28There is a whole world of love trying to be born through each of us.
- 44:32And it starts with that tiniest step towards your dream, your calling, your vision of being seen because you have that vision for a reason.
- 44:43And there are people on the other side of that vision calling in your art, your heart, your music, your teaching, your words, your books, your ideas.
- 44:53I'm sending so much love to you and I will see you on the next.
- 44:56Actually, I want to change this.
- 44:57What should it be?
- 44:57Does anyone have any suggestions?
- 44:59I'll see you on.
- 45:00I'm like, I just have maybe outgrown it.
- 45:03But I don't know.
- 45:04Does that mean to myself, to us?
- 45:07I don't know.
