- Lucas: Hey, welcome back to Learn Cantonese with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 90, can you believe it? Lucas: I know, time flies. And today we are going somewhere practical — a pharmacy. Luna: Oh, like if I'm sick and need medicine? That's good to know. Lucas: Exactly. So first, the word for pharmacy: 藥房. Luna: 藥房. Lucas: Good. 藥房 means pharmacy or drugstore. Luna: 藥房. Okay, I've got that. Lucas: Now, if you want to buy medicine, you say: 我想買藥. Luna: 我想買藥. Lucas: That means 'I want to buy medicine.' 藥 is medicine. So if I walk into a pharmacy, I can say that. Lucas: Yes. And the pharmacist might ask you: 你有冇藥? That means 'Do you have medicine?' But actually, you'd ask them: 你有冇藥? or more specifically, 你有冇感冒藥? for cold medicine. Luna: So 你有冇藥? is 'Do you have medicine?' Lucas: Right. Let's practice. You walk into a pharmacy. What do you say? Lucas: Perfect. Then the pharmacist might ask what's wrong. So you can say: 我咳 — 'I cough,' or 我頭痛 — 'I have a headache.' Luna: We learned those in episode 70, right? Lucas: Yes, exactly. So you can combine: 我想買藥,我咳。 Or 我想買藥,我頭痛。 Luna: 我想買藥,我咳。 I want to buy medicine, I cough. Lucas: That's it. Let's do a quick scene. I'm the pharmacist. You come in. Lucas: Very good. I'd say: 你有冇藥? No, wait — you're asking me. I'd say: 有,呢度。 Here you go. Luna: So 有 means 'have,' and 冇 means 'don't have.' Lucas: Right. 你有冇藥? is 'Do you have medicine?' You can say that to the pharmacist. Lucas: Yes. And if you want to be polite, you can add 唔該 at the beginning. Lucas: That's really natural. Now, let's say you're looking for something specific, like 咳藥水 — cough syrup. Luna: 咳藥水. Lucas: So you could say: 我想買咳藥水。 Or: 你有冇咳藥水? Luna: 我想買咳藥水。 I want to buy cough syrup. Lucas: Exactly. Let's practice all the phrases together. First: 藥房. Lucas: You know, if this kind of practical stuff is actually helping you, there's a nice way to support the show. You come in and say you want medicine for a cough. Luna: OK. Lucas: Yes. And I would say: 有,呢度。 Here you go. Luna: 有,呢度。 That's 'have, here' right? Lucas: Yeah. 有 means have, 呢度 means here. So 有,呢度. Simple. Luna: Great. So the whole thing: 唔該,我想買藥,我咳。你有冇咳藥水? Lucas: Perfect. And the pharmacist says: 有,呢度。 So you got it. Luna: Yay. I feel ready for a real pharmacy now. Lucas: That's the goal. So to recap: today we learned 藥房, 我想買藥, 你有冇藥?, 我咳, 我頭痛, and 咳藥水. Luna: All very useful. And I'll say it again: 藥房, 我想買藥, 你有冇藥?, 我咳, 我頭痛, 咳藥水. Lucas: Excellent. Practice these, and next time you're in Hong Kong, you'll be all set. Luna: Thanks for listening, everyone! See you next time. Lucas: Bye bye!
