- 0:29What is going on everybody?
- 0:31Welcome to the Clydesdale
- 0:32media weight loss journey.
- 0:34My name is Scott Switzer.
- 0:35She is my nutrition coach, Cheryl Nassau.
- 0:39We do our weekly check-ins
- 0:40live and that's what we're doing today.
- 0:43What's up?
- 0:45How you feeling?
- 0:47So I feel pretty good,
- 0:50but I'm having this issue with gas.
- 0:53Okay.
- 0:55Okay.
- 0:56And so sometimes it's like up here,
- 1:00like in my throat and chest
- 1:02and I burp like nonstop and
- 1:05it's preventing me from sleeping.
- 1:07And other times it's more
- 1:08like gastrointestinal.
- 1:10And, but like,
- 1:12I just can't seem to get it to stop.
- 1:17And it's making working out hard.
- 1:18It's making sleeping hard.
- 1:22Okay.
- 1:22So it's been a while since
- 1:23you've had any of like the
- 1:24acid reflux symptoms.
- 1:27Is it feeling like that again?
- 1:28It actually, it feels worse than that.
- 1:34But is it similar?
- 1:36Well, that was more just in my throat.
- 1:39This some days is, is more GI.
- 1:43And this is a new thing.
- 1:46This is a new thing just this week.
- 1:48Uh, yeah.
- 1:50Okay.
- 1:50Pretty much just after we got off the air.
- 1:53Okay.
- 1:53The next day started having,
- 1:55or maybe even that night.
- 1:57Yeah.
- 1:58And I do find it like if I eat,
- 2:00if I eat yogurt with fruit before bed,
- 2:03it helps it, but I don't know why.
- 2:07That's why I was asking
- 2:08about the acid stuff.
- 2:09The reason that makes sense
- 2:10is the yogurt's going to be
- 2:11a little bit more like alkaline.
- 2:14So that's why I was asking
- 2:15if you maybe are having some issues again,
- 2:18not even realizing it with
- 2:20what you were having last
- 2:21year with the acid reflux
- 2:22type stuff so have you been
- 2:26just kind of looking back
- 2:27at your diary have you been
- 2:29eating things that are a
- 2:30little bit more acidic uh
- 2:34like I know you for a while
- 2:35you were like cutting back
- 2:36on like spicy stuff and
- 2:39tomatoes anything that was
- 2:41really causing that have
- 2:41you been eating more of
- 2:43that kinds of stuff
- 2:48I mean, I think so.
- 2:49I've been eating so much less because like,
- 2:53as the day goes on, it gets worse.
- 2:56And then I don't feel like
- 2:57eating at night.
- 2:58Yeah.
- 2:58I'm trying to take a look at
- 2:59what you've been eating, um,
- 3:03to see you've been doing a
- 3:06good job of getting more vegetables in.
- 3:09So, I mean, I'm going to be honest.
- 3:12Did you increase your
- 3:13vegetable intake last week?
- 3:15I know I had a lot more salad.
- 3:18Yeah.
- 3:19So that's okay.
- 3:20So it's not a bad thing.
- 3:21So it sounds like you're
- 3:24getting some GI distress
- 3:25from the fiber and the
- 3:27roughage is exactly what it sounds like.
- 3:29Totally normal.
- 3:30You did exactly what you
- 3:32needed to do last week by
- 3:33increasing your vegetable intake.
- 3:35But what you have to realize
- 3:36is that when you're not
- 3:37eating a lot of those foods,
- 3:38because you haven't been
- 3:39for a little while and you
- 3:41start to include them back in your diet,
- 3:44your stomach acids and the
- 3:46enzymes in your stomach are
- 3:48gonna help break down those foods.
- 3:50When you're not consuming them very often,
- 3:52you have less of those in your gut.
- 3:55So your body's kind of like
- 3:57trying to figure out how to
- 3:58break them down a little bit.
- 3:59So what you can do is try
- 4:01and cut your vegetable intake in half.
- 4:04So like if you've been eating a lot more,
- 4:06like let's just cut it in
- 4:07half and then we'll add a
- 4:09little bit more next week.
- 4:10So like if you went from
- 4:12like not eating any to now
- 4:13you're eating a whole bunch of vegetables,
- 4:15like cut it in half.
- 4:16Like right now, if you've had,
- 4:18it looks like three cups of
- 4:20salad at lunch or dinner.
- 4:22I'm just looking at one of
- 4:22your random days, like last Saturday,
- 4:25cut it to like one and a half cups.
- 4:27and start to like let your
- 4:30gut regulate a little bit
- 4:31because that's exactly what
- 4:32it is it's not a bad thing
- 4:34your body will adjust to it
- 4:36it's just your body's not
- 4:37used to breaking down those
- 4:38and breaking down those
- 4:39foods right now okay so you
- 4:44did the right thing you're
- 4:45doing the right thing by
- 4:46getting in more of that stuff
- 4:48In fact,
- 4:49I recorded a podcast today on
- 4:50micronutrients.
- 4:51It's really important for
- 4:52you to get that stuff in,
- 4:54but that's exactly why
- 4:55you're getting some of the GI distress.
- 4:57It's making you feel more full.
- 5:00It's definitely, it's like,
- 5:03I kind of think of it this way.
- 5:05If you're putting sand in a wood chopper,
- 5:07it's not going to require a
- 5:08whole bunch of work.
- 5:10If you take a whole piece of tree, a trunk,
- 5:13and you put it in the wood chopper,
- 5:14it's a lot more work.
- 5:16Same thing that's going on in your gut.
- 5:20So I just have to put more
- 5:21sand in it for a week.
- 5:23Yeah.
- 5:23It's a little bit less.
- 5:25Yeah.
- 5:25A little bit less,
- 5:25a little bit less of the big stuff.
- 5:27Give it, slow it down a little bit.
- 5:28You don't want to throw a
- 5:29chunk in just a little bit at a time.
- 5:31So, but, uh,
- 5:33I'm happy to see your diary last week.
- 5:35Looks really good.
- 5:37Um,
- 5:37it looks like you're also eating like a
- 5:38little bit more nuts too,
- 5:40which could also be,
- 5:41that was just a craving.
- 5:43Yeah.
- 5:44Not a bad thing.
- 5:47Did you smoke your own
- 5:48chicken wings on Sunday or
- 5:50did you buy them somewhere?
- 5:51I bought those ones.
- 5:53Oh, I was hoping you smoked your own.
- 5:57It's so cold here.
- 5:59Yeah.
- 6:00Yeah.
- 6:01It would take me six days to
- 6:04smoke chicken wings.
- 6:05It's funny.
- 6:06So I was talking to, uh,
- 6:08one of my clients lives in
- 6:09Wisconsin and she came down to Florida.
- 6:13For a visit.
- 6:13And I'm like, oh,
- 6:14the weather's beautiful here.
- 6:16And I messaged her on Sunday.
- 6:18I'm like, oh,
- 6:18of all times for you to come down,
- 6:20it's actually cold here.
- 6:21We had our coldest day of
- 6:23the year this year on Sunday.
- 6:24It was 47 degrees.
- 6:27And she's like, I'll take this any day.
- 6:29I looked at the map because
- 6:34I used to live in Tallahassee.
- 6:36So I looked there occasionally.
- 6:37And I think they got down to
- 6:39like eight degrees.
- 6:40Yeah.
- 6:40Yeah.
- 6:42Yeah, it was cold.
- 6:43I mean, it was cold for me.
- 6:45I, I don't like, well,
- 6:47I don't do all the cold.
- 6:48So, but, um, but yeah,
- 6:51like your nutrition last week,
- 6:52I'm looking over things right now.
- 6:54Uh, looks really good.
- 6:56Um, I mean,
- 6:58definitely have been a little
- 6:59bit under on things, but like that
- 7:02Another thing is people
- 7:03don't realize when they're like,
- 7:05I'm hungry all the time.
- 7:06And I look at their diary and I'm like,
- 7:08well,
- 7:08you're not getting any vegetables in.
- 7:10Like if you get some vegetables in,
- 7:12you're going to feel more satiated.
- 7:14It is going to help you feel more full.
- 7:17So.
- 7:18I'm happy that you're doing that.
- 7:20Um,
- 7:21and also some of the types of
- 7:22vegetables too, you're getting in,
- 7:24you're getting in the good stuff.
- 7:25You're getting in like the cabbage,
- 7:27all that stuff does take some,
- 7:29some work for the gut to digest.
- 7:31So nutritionally right now,
- 7:33things look really good.
- 7:35Really.
- 7:35It looks like Thursday was
- 7:36your only day that you
- 7:37didn't track things.
- 7:38Protein has been pretty good.
- 7:41Most days looks like a couple of days.
- 7:43You're a little bit under, actually,
- 7:45you're actually pretty
- 7:45under most days this week, but
- 7:47Likely because of your appetite.
- 7:50Cause you're getting in.
- 7:54It's really your snacks.
- 7:55You're missing your protein in your snacks,
- 7:57I guess.
- 7:57Cause your meals have been
- 7:58pretty high in protein.
- 8:01Yeah.
- 8:02I've added meat to my breakfast.
- 8:04I've tried to do a shake
- 8:06occasionally and it just,
- 8:07it irritates whatever's going on.
- 8:10Yeah.
- 8:10Yeah.
- 8:11Yeah.
- 8:12Um,
- 8:13I really do think it's the vegetables
- 8:15that your body's just
- 8:16getting used to because of
- 8:19the types of vegetables
- 8:20you're eating too.
- 8:20Like I see like, uh, the cabbage,
- 8:23cabbage is really rough on the gut.
- 8:25Like it's a lot of work on the gut.
- 8:27Not, it's not a bad vegetable.
- 8:28It's just definitely does
- 8:30take a lot to break down.
- 8:31So, but, um, we got on like a kick of
- 8:37It's like ground meat, cabbage,
- 8:40carrots over rice.
- 8:42Yeah, it sounds good.
- 8:45Kind of like, I like to call this,
- 8:47make this thing called egg
- 8:48roll in a bowl.
- 8:50Yep, that's exactly.
- 8:51Yeah, it's awesome.
- 8:53If you buy,
- 8:54they sell wonton wrappers in
- 8:57the produce section.
- 8:59And if you want to like add some crunch,
- 9:01you can take those and you
- 9:03can actually just air fry
- 9:04them to crisp them up.
- 9:06put them on top and now you
- 9:08actually have an egg roll
- 9:10but it's just not deep
- 9:11fried so in fact you could
- 9:14make your own egg rolls
- 9:15like that if you really
- 9:16wanted to and the wrapper's
- 9:18not bad for you no it's
- 9:20like uh it's literally just
- 9:22I figured they're made with
- 9:23let me see uh it's just
- 9:27it's like a wheat wrap it's like a
- 9:31As we say this,
- 9:32there's no foods that are bad for you.
- 9:33They're called, uh,
- 9:34Nasoya is the brand there.
- 9:36It's, it's flour, water, salt, eggs,
- 9:40and egg whites.
- 9:42So it's,
- 9:42there's nothing in it and it's
- 9:44wheat flour.
- 9:44There's not a whole bunch of fiber in them,
- 9:46but it's just like any other grain,
- 9:49you know?
- 9:49So.
- 9:51But yeah,
- 9:52we called it out to a girl in a bowl.
- 9:55Yeah.
- 9:56Kelly says broccoli slaw.
- 9:59Yeah.
- 9:59We didn't, we didn't do the broccoli slaw.
- 10:01It's hard to get here for some reason.
- 10:03Yeah.
- 10:04You know what else I've been
- 10:05having a hard time with the
- 10:05broccoli slaw is I've been
- 10:07getting it and it's for whatever reason,
- 10:10it hasn't been fresh.
- 10:12Like it's going bad in like two days.
- 10:14That's happened to me a lot
- 10:15and it's making me not want to buy it.
- 10:17Cause you know, I love it in my eggs.
- 10:18That's like my thing.
- 10:19I put it in my eggs and
- 10:21lately I've been using different things.
- 10:23I've been mixing it up.
- 10:23I've been doing zucchini.
- 10:26I like also doing mushrooms, spinach,
- 10:27and tomatoes, a little bit of feta.
- 10:29It's a good way to get,
- 10:31get some other veggies in.
- 10:33So yeah,
- 10:35the egg roll in a bowl is such an
- 10:36easy meal.
- 10:37It's, it's easy.
- 10:38I love it.
- 10:40So yeah, these are the,
- 10:42let me just show you real quickly.
- 10:44if you want,
- 10:45they look like let me see if I
- 10:46can share screen.
- 10:48Share screen.
- 10:54These are them right here.
- 10:56Can you see them?
- 10:57Yeah.
- 10:58Yeah, we've gotten them before.
- 10:59Yeah.
- 11:00Yeah, they're, they're pretty.
- 11:05I just,
- 11:06I just wouldn't have thought of
- 11:07them as Yeah.
- 11:10But it makes sense.
- 11:11It makes, mix them in,
- 11:12mix them in a little bit.
- 11:14So I think that we need to get you,
- 11:16your stomach regulated a little bit.
- 11:18So let's try and have things
- 11:19with the vegetables and
- 11:21just see how that helps.
- 11:22Now, weight wise,
- 11:24things are looking down good.
- 11:25You are 287.6.
- 11:26Is that right?
- 11:30Yeah.
- 11:30That's awesome.
- 11:32And I still don't have photos.
- 11:36I know I was going to do it today.
- 11:37I just feel,
- 11:39I felt so bloated and it
- 11:41really is a mental thing for me.
- 11:43I know I've got to do it.
- 11:46I know it's a mental thing.
- 11:47That's why I'm forcing you to do it.
- 11:49I'm definitely, we got to have photos.
- 11:52We've been,
- 11:53we've been working on this for
- 11:54a couple of weeks now
- 11:56trying to get the photos in.
- 11:58So how about,
- 11:59I know that your gut's a little bit messy,
- 12:01but like, how about,
- 12:02are you feeling like you're
- 12:03getting back to normal
- 12:04after being sick and all that?
- 12:07I don't know.
- 12:08Like,
- 12:09I feel like it because I'm burping
- 12:12all the time.
- 12:13Like my voice isn't back.
- 12:15Um, it's, it's been a weird week.
- 12:18Yeah.
- 12:19Like I,
- 12:21there's a minute I feel like I'm
- 12:23totally recovered.
- 12:25And then like four hours later,
- 12:26I feel like I'm back to square one.
- 12:29Yeah.
- 12:29How's your sleep?
- 12:30And I mean,
- 12:30I know you said it's been
- 12:31affecting your sleep a little bit.
- 12:34So I sleep for about three hours.
- 12:37Then I wake up and I do
- 12:39about five minutes of burping.
- 12:41And then I fall back to sleep for an hour.
- 12:43Then I wake up and do five
- 12:44more minutes of burping.
- 12:46And that goes on like all night.
- 12:48I definitely think it's a
- 12:49little bit of the gut just regulating.
- 12:51So that's the only thing I
- 12:54could think of because, you know,
- 12:57and the only other thing,
- 12:58the only thing that doesn't
- 12:59really make sense is you're not eating
- 13:02You're eating in mostly at dinnertime.
- 13:04It could be what time are
- 13:05you eating dinner at?
- 13:10We dinner 536 o'clock.
- 13:14Okay, so it's actually pretty,
- 13:15you're still up for quite a
- 13:16while after that.
- 13:19So let's just see how it goes.
- 13:22If you tonight eat like are
- 13:25you planning on doing that
- 13:26same thing tonight for dinner?
- 13:27That's cabbage thing?
- 13:30Uh, we have, again,
- 13:32I'm at the mercy of my wife,
- 13:34especially on nights like this.
- 13:36Cause right after this,
- 13:37I have fingers crossed a
- 13:39sponsorship call.
- 13:41Um, and then,
- 13:42so I'm at the mercy of
- 13:43whatever she cooks.
- 13:47Try not to get more than a
- 13:48cup of vegetables tonight.
- 13:50Like one cup limited to one
- 13:52cup just to see.
- 13:54Okay.
- 13:55Sleep better, you know,
- 13:57cause you haven't today.
- 13:59Today you didn't have a whole bunch.
- 14:01So let's see if today's better.
- 14:03I was going to have some
- 14:03yogurt tonight too.
- 14:05Yeah.
- 14:05See if that'll help.
- 14:08Yep.
- 14:09And that makes sense because
- 14:10there's a lot of probiotics in yogurt.
- 14:12So good bacteria.
- 14:14So that's good stuff.
- 14:16So let's see how it goes if
- 14:18you only have like a cup of
- 14:19vegetables tonight and see
- 14:21if you sleep better.
- 14:23So I think that we need
- 14:25photos tomorrow morning.
- 14:25Okay.
- 14:27Okay.
- 14:28Like set your alarm for 15 minutes earlier,
- 14:31get up and do them.
- 14:33Just get it done.
- 14:35You're just, you're procrastinating.
- 14:36Even if you're bloated,
- 14:38you're still going to look
- 14:39smaller than you did beforehand.
- 14:41So I'm looking at Heidi's comment here.
- 14:45Uh,
- 14:49So, Heidi, just so you know,
- 14:51this is something we've
- 14:53talked about on the show.
- 14:54I control my breakfast, my lunch,
- 14:57my snacks.
- 14:59My wife is a big,
- 15:00we sit down to eat dinner together.
- 15:03And that is part of what I have to fix in.
- 15:07So we actually budget...
- 15:09macros for that dinner and
- 15:12um and then my wife is
- 15:15pretty good about getting
- 15:16us in that in that range I
- 15:19just don't know what it's
- 15:20going to be like I don't
- 15:22know what the breakdown is
- 15:24going to be completely
- 15:25before um before dinner
- 15:27time comes yeah I think
- 15:31it's an important thing for
- 15:31us to talk a little about
- 15:32about this because um
- 15:36You know,
- 15:37this is one of the things that
- 15:38could stop people from
- 15:39being successful in their
- 15:40journey is not having open
- 15:43communication in their relationships.
- 15:46And honestly,
- 15:47either being in incredibly
- 15:49too selfish in their journey and,
- 15:52or the person not being
- 15:53supportive in that person's journey.
- 15:55And so I think that what
- 15:57we've done is really figure
- 15:58out what works well for you
- 16:00and your family.
- 16:01to be able to be moderate still,
- 16:04enjoy eating with your wife,
- 16:06not be obsessive and still get results.
- 16:08And I think it's really
- 16:09important for people to
- 16:11understand that when you have a goal,
- 16:14you have got to share that
- 16:15goal with the people that
- 16:17are most important to you,
- 16:18that you spend the most time with,
- 16:20because if you don't,
- 16:21it is going to create a barrier.
- 16:24Especially if that person
- 16:26doesn't live the same
- 16:27lifestyle and doesn't have
- 16:29the same goals.
- 16:31If you were like, sorry, honey,
- 16:32I'm eating my own chicken
- 16:34and broccoli and
- 16:36now she's feeling shameful
- 16:38of the food that she's eating.
- 16:40It's not going to do well
- 16:41for the relationship.
- 16:43And I get the whole, oh,
- 16:44what I'm eating shouldn't
- 16:45impact other people.
- 16:47But there's also a part of
- 16:49relationships that is built around food.
- 16:52That is something that is a thing.
- 16:54People eat together.
- 16:55That's part of socialization.
- 16:57So it is important for that.
- 17:00And it's also important for
- 17:01us to realize that your
- 17:03wife is supportive and
- 17:06no,
- 17:06she's not going to make bland chicken
- 17:08and broccoli for you,
- 17:09but she's going to ensure that like, Hey,
- 17:11we're not going to have, you know,
- 17:12craft macaroni and cheese
- 17:14for dinner every single night.
- 17:15So, um, that's the balance.
- 17:20Yeah.
- 17:21And, and the first,
- 17:22so this is my second weight loss journey.
- 17:25I lost over 200 pounds
- 17:26before I was very obsessive,
- 17:29no life balance and
- 17:31alienated my wife and daughter.
- 17:35And that was not a good thing.
- 17:40And so this time through,
- 17:41while it's been a little slower,
- 17:43it is on a downward trend all the time.
- 17:47And we're doing it a
- 17:48different way where I can
- 17:50include my wife who now
- 17:53eats way better than she did before.
- 17:57because she wants to eat better,
- 18:00but I'm not forcing it.
- 18:01I'm not,
- 18:02I'm not demeaning her for it or
- 18:04I'm not doing any of those things.
- 18:07I'm doing it in a loving way
- 18:09and we buy the groceries together.
- 18:11So we know that it's going to be okay.
- 18:14We don't have crap in our house.
- 18:16So I know it's going to be okay.
- 18:19I just don't know what it is.
- 18:20Yeah.
- 18:21Yeah, no, I get it.
- 18:22You guys are doing awesome.
- 18:24Um,
- 18:25I just want to make sure
- 18:26that we talked about that
- 18:27because I think it's so important.
- 18:30It's probably one of the
- 18:31biggest barriers in why
- 18:32people don't work towards
- 18:34their goals is they don't
- 18:37include the people that
- 18:38they're around the most and
- 18:39they let their environment
- 18:41feed their decisions.
- 18:43And I think that you've
- 18:46really been a testament to
- 18:48not letting that happen.
- 18:50you know, like you can still go out,
- 18:52you know, you,
- 18:53you go to family get togethers,
- 18:54you go to other things.
- 18:56People know that you're on a
- 18:58health journey, you know?
- 18:59So there's not this pressure
- 19:01that if everybody else is
- 19:03drinking beer and eating
- 19:04crap that you have to do it.
- 19:06And I mean,
- 19:07when's the last time you had a drink?
- 19:10It's been a while.
- 19:11Yeah.
- 19:12So, and that's not even like a,
- 19:14a conscious decision.
- 19:16Yeah.
- 19:17It's just,
- 19:18it's just the way life is right now.
- 19:21Yeah.
- 19:22How about,
- 19:23have you been back to Polaris or
- 19:24have you been still working
- 19:25out in the garage?
- 19:27It's been hit or miss.
- 19:29The weather was really bad this weekend.
- 19:32So I did Cindy,
- 19:33a version of Cindy in my
- 19:35basement this weekend.
- 19:39And then I worked, that was yesterday.
- 19:43I did,
- 19:45I did a little workout down here
- 19:47over the weekend and then
- 19:48I'll go back tomorrow.
- 19:49It's supposed to be,
- 19:50the roads are supposed to be better.
- 19:52And my schedule has cleared out.
- 19:56Yeah.
- 19:58A lot of people are dealing
- 19:59with the snow and I don't
- 20:00really watch the weather,
- 20:01but I guess there,
- 20:01is it just like the
- 20:03Northeast y'all are just getting snow?
- 20:05I don't know.
- 20:06I feel like all of my
- 20:07clients are like snow day.
- 20:10This is just the time of year, I guess.
- 20:12I don't know.
- 20:13Y'all are in different parts of the world.
- 20:14So I will say on Friday for
- 20:16the first time in my career
- 20:19with the state of Ohio,
- 20:20we got a memo Thursday night saying,
- 20:23if you don't have to go to an office,
- 20:25work from home.
- 20:26Oh, wow.
- 20:28And that was the entire state.
- 20:30Yeah.
- 20:31Yeah.
- 20:31No, I had a client.
- 20:32She's like hardcore in the gym.
- 20:34I don't know where she lives.
- 20:36I actually,
- 20:36I think she might live in Ohio.
- 20:38Uh, now that, now that you just said that,
- 20:40cause I think I,
- 20:40maybe when I asked her to hook with her,
- 20:42I think I asked her, uh, where she lives,
- 20:45but, um,
- 20:46she uh yeah she was snowed
- 20:48in last week and she
- 20:49couldn't make it to the gym
- 20:51and holly your holly data
- 20:53analyst um she's like well
- 20:55I didn't get much work in
- 20:57in the gym but I did get a
- 20:59lot of snow shoveling I
- 21:01don't know where she lives
- 21:02but she definitely was yeah
- 21:05so she's she was shoveling
- 21:07some snow so I actually
- 21:10love cindy too I'll be honest guys
- 21:12So I want to tell you, I hate Cindy.
- 21:16Make the conscious decision
- 21:18to do it is a big step for me.
- 21:22Listen.
- 21:22Okay.
- 21:24I think that everybody should have a,
- 21:29like a, a go-to workout,
- 21:31like a workout where like,
- 21:33When hell freezes over and
- 21:35you just want to get
- 21:36something in and you're not motivated,
- 21:37it's the workout you do.
- 21:38Like you can do it when you're traveling.
- 21:40You can do it when you don't feel good.
- 21:42You can do it on a recovery day.
- 21:44And for me,
- 21:45that is always going to be some
- 21:46variation of pull-ups, push-ups,
- 21:48and squats.
- 21:50Some kind of a Cindy,
- 21:51throw a bike in there,
- 21:52throw a rower in there,
- 21:53throw a run in there.
- 21:55It's because I just feel
- 21:56like I know when I do it,
- 21:58I'm getting a full body workout in.
- 22:00It doesn't require me to warm up at all.
- 22:02I can literally just jump
- 22:03into it and I can go slower
- 22:06and push for less intensity,
- 22:09or I can go faster and try
- 22:10and get intensity in.
- 22:11So one of my favorite things I always,
- 22:14I always will find like
- 22:15when I'm not feeling good,
- 22:16especially when I'm traveling,
- 22:18that's like one of my go-to,
- 22:19like I'll throw like a bike
- 22:22zone to session in with
- 22:23like bike and Cindy.
- 22:24favorite thing to do.
- 22:26Um,
- 22:27I did an AMRAP of row cows and goblet
- 22:29squats.
- 22:30Kenneth,
- 22:30that has nothing to do with Cindy.
- 22:32Why are you bringing up
- 22:33goblet squats and rowing?
- 22:34Just saying.
- 22:37Huh?
- 22:39It's his go-to.
- 22:40Yeah.
- 22:40Oh, I got it.
- 22:41Okay.
- 22:42You're like, uh-huh.
- 22:43Okay.
- 22:43Cheryl, that's you.
- 22:44He answered the question, but yeah,
- 22:46I did an AMRAP of grow
- 22:47calories and goblet squats.
- 22:48Yeah.
- 22:49I guess I could be a go-to, but whatever,
- 22:51you've got to have a go-to
- 22:52workout that you can do.
- 22:53Does it require anything?
- 22:55You know?
- 22:55So, um, Angie, Judy did Angie.
- 22:59That's,
- 23:00I remember my first time doing
- 23:02Angie and a hundred, a hundred,
- 23:05a hundred.
- 23:06Yeah.
- 23:07Like I thought the pull-ups
- 23:08were going to be the hard part.
- 23:10And then I'm like,
- 23:11I'm through the pull-ups.
- 23:12And then you're on like your
- 23:14first set of 10 pushups and you're like,
- 23:18I got a long way to go.
- 23:20It just seemed like the
- 23:21pushups took forever.
- 23:24Forever.
- 23:25So, but, but yeah.
- 23:28So do you have a go-to like
- 23:30something that you do
- 23:30whenever you're not feeling good?
- 23:33Usually I do some version of,
- 23:3421 59 28 21 59 something
- 23:40like that and I throw some
- 23:42some stuff together usually
- 23:44it's my machine whatever I
- 23:46had at the time yeah and
- 23:47then um and then like a
- 23:51body weight movement of
- 23:53squats or push-ups it's the
- 23:56pull-ups I hate and cindy
- 23:57yeah I mean let's be real
- 23:59Yeah.
- 24:00I like 21, 15, nines too.
- 24:03Or I like 10 down to ones
- 24:04because I feel like it just,
- 24:06the mentally you're just chipping away,
- 24:09but either of those.
- 24:10And then as CrossFit's gotten, you know,
- 24:12obviously we get fitter.
- 24:14Now we're like, let's go 27, 21, 15, nine.
- 24:18So in fact,
- 24:19you know what I've been doing a
- 24:20lot of right now in my
- 24:22online programming is
- 24:23because I do a blend of
- 24:25CrossFit and bodybuilding.
- 24:27You know,
- 24:27they don't really do a lot of
- 24:29snatches and overhead squats,
- 24:31but they'll do like, they do a main lift,
- 24:33squat, press, deadlift, you know,
- 24:35because you were on it for
- 24:36a little while.
- 24:37But my accessory work lately
- 24:38has been drop sets where they'll do like
- 24:4015 reps, quickly rest and add weight,
- 24:4412 reps, add weight, and then nine reps,
- 24:46add weight.
- 24:47So it's kind of a different
- 24:48way to like train, uh, like the 21, 15,
- 24:51nine sequence.
- 24:52So I like that stuff.
- 24:57You know what, um,
- 24:59always gets me at Polaris
- 25:01is in their bodybuilding work.
- 25:03They go to
- 25:06they go to fatigue, exhaustion, whatever.
- 25:09And then it's multiple reps
- 25:11of like just banded curls.
- 25:14Right.
- 25:15And then you're, you're thinking like,
- 25:16okay, 30, 31.
- 25:17Yep.
- 25:18And then the next set you're like 12.
- 25:20Yep.
- 25:22Yep.
- 25:23That's a high perch if you work.
- 25:24Yeah.
- 25:25I've actually been doing a
- 25:26lot of that stuff right now
- 25:27myself as I'm in my gains train.
- 25:29When I was younger,
- 25:29I did that stuff all the time.
- 25:31Yeah.
- 25:32So I,
- 25:33I was conditioned to it and now it
- 25:36rips me up.
- 25:37Yeah.
- 25:38It's definitely tough stuff.
- 25:40So what's on your agenda this week?
- 25:44So we were going to go see
- 25:45my daughter last weekend
- 25:47due to the weather that got postponed.
- 25:49So we're going, I'm taking Friday off.
- 25:52So I'm going to see her this weekend.
- 25:54All right.
- 25:55Awesome.
- 25:56And then I know you said you
- 25:56have a sponsorship call after this.
- 25:58That's awesome.
- 26:00Hopefully that goes well.
- 26:02So, so nutritionally,
- 26:05we're going to try and cut
- 26:06back on the vegetables a little bit,
- 26:07still keep them in.
- 26:08That was a good addition.
- 26:10Um,
- 26:11but I'm going to bet that that's likely
- 26:12what it is just sitting in
- 26:14your gut a little bit longer.
- 26:15Um, not a bad thing.
- 26:17Um,
- 26:18let's try and get the protein in a
- 26:19little bit more.
- 26:20I think that's really going
- 26:21to come down to a snack.
- 26:23Some other easy protein
- 26:25options for snacks is
- 26:27things like beef jerky.
- 26:28I like turkey jerky.
- 26:30I love those types of things.
- 26:31Yeah, that's good.
- 26:36Hard-boiled egg whites.
- 26:39If you have the fat,
- 26:39you can eat the yolk too, but you can...
- 26:43Those are great.
- 26:45I've also been lately,
- 26:47I've been really digging tuna salad.
- 26:50I've been eating tuna salad
- 26:51in a whole grain pita,
- 26:53those Joseph's pitas.
- 26:57And don't knock it till you try it.
- 26:59But I grew up eating pickle
- 27:00in my tuna salad.
- 27:02That was just how we always
- 27:03made tuna salad.
- 27:05And instead of using mayo,
- 27:06I swap out mayo for nonfat,
- 27:08plain Greek yogurt.
- 27:10And I add a little bit of
- 27:11Dijon mustard to it.
- 27:13And it cuts the fat and it
- 27:16tastes creamy and amazing.
- 27:18And I've been toasting a
- 27:19pita and putting it in that
- 27:21or eating it with some pita chips.
- 27:23But that's a great way to
- 27:24get some more protein into
- 27:25that's not just like
- 27:26drinking a protein shake.
- 27:27And you can make that ahead
- 27:28of time and have it in your fridge.
- 27:31It's also an easy lunch.
- 27:35So what about the like the
- 27:38star kissed little pouches
- 27:40of tuna flavored?
- 27:43Yeah, those are fine.
- 27:44Yeah, they don't,
- 27:44they usually don't have
- 27:45mayo in them though.
- 27:46They're just kind of, those are fine.
- 27:48But if you want something
- 27:49creamy and you want to save on fat,
- 27:52try using nonfat plain
- 27:53Greek yogurt and put a
- 27:55little bit of Dijon mustard in too,
- 27:56because it just makes it less,
- 27:59I don't know,
- 27:59it just does something different to it.
- 28:01I do that, salt, pepper.
- 28:02I add my pickle in and it's amazing.
- 28:05It's one of my favorite
- 28:06go-to snacks right now.
- 28:09I just love tuna.
- 28:12I don't even need the mayo.
- 28:14I haven't done that in a while.
- 28:15It's been a minute since
- 28:17I've... That's a great snack.
- 28:19I used to have them in my
- 28:20desk drawer at work.
- 28:23I used to love tuna salad on saltines.
- 28:27The saltine crackers.
- 28:29I used to love that.
- 28:31One of my favorite snacks.
- 28:33You can do the same thing
- 28:34with chicken salad.
- 28:35Is that a good one?
- 28:38So my wife is so old school
- 28:40that she calls a saltine a soda cracker.
- 28:44Oh, that's that.
- 28:45Yeah.
- 28:45My mom,
- 28:46my grandmother used to call them
- 28:47soda crackers too.
- 28:47Yeah.
- 28:49There was a,
- 28:50there was a soup that my mom
- 28:51used to buy and it was,
- 28:54it was Lipton noodle soup
- 28:56and it used to come in a box, a packet,
- 29:00like a little packet and it
- 29:01was just noodles and broth
- 29:03and we would have that and
- 29:05with those saltine crackers.
- 29:06Like so good.
- 29:07Whenever we were sick or whatever,
- 29:08it was like so good.
- 29:10But, uh, yeah.
- 29:12So I saw you had a little
- 29:13bit of ramen last week too.
- 29:15That's it.
- 29:15That's an old school comfort
- 29:17food for sure.
- 29:17Yeah.
- 29:19I had, it was, I made it with steak.
- 29:21Yeah.
- 29:22It was so good.
- 29:23Yeah.
- 29:24So, but yeah,
- 29:25so this week we're going to
- 29:26just work on maybe a little bit less,
- 29:28a little bit less vegetables.
- 29:30So keeping them in photos
- 29:32tomorrow morning.
- 29:33So I feel like I need to text you.
- 29:35I didn't,
- 29:35I meant to text you on Saturday
- 29:37and then I remembered yesterday.
- 29:38I'm like, shit,
- 29:39I forgot to text Scott on
- 29:40Saturday about this photos.
- 29:42And then I remembered,
- 29:43I remember last night and I
- 29:44was hoping that it was
- 29:45going to be enough to
- 29:45remind you today to do them.
- 29:47So can we do them tomorrow?
- 29:48I'll put them up tomorrow.
- 29:50Yeah.
- 29:50I'm not going to share them with anybody,
- 29:52but I just want to be able to tell,
- 29:53I want to be able to tell
- 29:54the listeners that, Hey,
- 29:56he did what he committed to.
- 29:57He put the photos in.
- 30:00Okay.
- 30:01But, um, but yeah,
- 30:03so I guess today that's pretty,
- 30:06it pretty much it.
- 30:06Right.
- 30:06I think we're in a good spot.
- 30:08It's getting warmer.
- 30:09So yeah, for now,
- 30:12for now I'm ready for spring already.
- 30:15When does the winter
- 30:15officially end when we see the groundhog?
- 30:17Right.
- 30:19Well,
- 30:19it's six weeks from the time you see
- 30:22the groundhog.
- 30:23Oh, okay.
- 30:23So that's like mid-March.
- 30:25Oh, geez.
- 30:26Yeah.
- 30:28I feel for you guys.
- 30:32But you guys have something
- 30:33to look forward to.
- 30:34We have something to not look forward to.
- 30:36Because come August, you guys are like,
- 30:39you know, bitching about the snow.
- 30:40Come August,
- 30:41we're bitching about how humid it is.
- 30:43You can't even walk outside
- 30:44without feeling like you're in a sauna.
- 30:47So...
- 30:49but I'm not sure which I would prefer.
- 30:51I think I'd prefer the heat.
- 30:55Death by burpees if those
- 30:56photos are not done tomorrow.
- 30:58Damien, oh, oh, I love it.
- 31:01I love it.
- 31:02I love it.
- 31:03If the photos aren't up tomorrow,
- 31:06Scott has to go live on
- 31:08YouTube for his debut
- 31:10workout that he has been
- 31:12telling us that he is going
- 31:12to start and do death by burpees.
- 31:17I do remember Scott saying
- 31:18he wanted to start doing
- 31:19this whole workout where he
- 31:21would explain a workout.
- 31:23And that's the perfect one
- 31:24for him to do because for
- 31:25the first couple of minutes,
- 31:27you're going to have some
- 31:27time to talk to the listeners.
- 31:30I'll only make it three
- 31:32minutes on death by burpees.
- 31:34You're only going to get three burpees in?
- 31:36Yep, that's it.
- 31:37Well, here's what we'll say.
- 31:39I'll say you have to get to 10.
- 31:42And that means that you have
- 31:42to keep restarting until
- 31:44you've made it to 10 minutes.
- 31:45The pictures will be in.
- 31:47All right.
- 31:47The picture is going to be in.
- 31:48You heard that Damien, right?
- 31:51Damien.
- 31:51Damien's wife, Liza,
- 31:54is working with me right now.
- 31:56She's doing awesome as well.
- 31:58So Damien,
- 31:59little plug that your wife is
- 32:01crushing it.
- 32:01So just happy for her.
- 32:03We got a little family of
- 32:07Cheryl followers.
- 32:09And guys, hey, it makes me want to cry.
- 32:13Honestly, I, I love,
- 32:15I got a message today from
- 32:16one of my clients that was just like,
- 32:19I just was, it just literally lit me up,
- 32:22you know?
- 32:22And when you're having days
- 32:24where you just feel like
- 32:24you're busy and you're going, going,
- 32:26going, it's, it's exciting.
- 32:29It's just, it makes me feel so good.
- 32:31So, um, yeah, she definitely is Damien.
- 32:35So I'm, I'm happy.
- 32:36So, but, uh,
- 32:38so I'm guessing she gave you
- 32:40her pictures.
- 32:42She does.
- 32:42She puts her photos in.
- 32:44She does.
- 32:45So most of my clients I've been trying to,
- 32:49I don't, I don't think to be honest,
- 32:51some coaches are like
- 32:53having their clients take
- 32:54photos like weekly.
- 32:55And let's not even talk
- 32:57about the challenges that are like,
- 32:58take a daily photo.
- 32:59Come on people.
- 33:00Like,
- 33:01do we really need to see physical
- 33:03changes that often?
- 33:04I think a monthly photo is plenty of time.
- 33:09Four weeks, you should see some changes.
- 33:10It's fine.
- 33:12So, yeah.
- 33:17All right.
- 33:17Well, with that,
- 33:19I guess I got to snap some pictures.
- 33:21Otherwise,
- 33:22it's death by burpees and we're
- 33:23going live with it.
- 33:24Just saying.
- 33:25We will see everybody next
- 33:27time on the Glidesdale
- 33:29Media Weight Loss Journey.
- 33:31Bye, guys.
