- 0:14Speaker 1: Welcome to The Bible Speaks Live, this is our Hot
- 0:17Speaker 1: Topic Tuesday. Tonight we are continuing in our series we've
- 0:21Speaker 1: begun a couple of weeks ago entitled For Believers Only,
- 0:26Speaker 1: Very Straight Talk on This Great Salvation. Amen. We want to,
- 0:30Speaker 1: as we get into this series, begin to talk about
- 0:32Speaker 1: the different facets of this great salvation that has been
- 0:35Speaker 1: entrusted to us, given to us by God's grace. We
- 0:39Speaker 1: want to get into it. What are the different pieces?
- 0:41Speaker 1: What are the dynamics of it? How does one get saved? Amen.
- 0:45Speaker 1: We're going to be talking about all of those different
- 0:47Speaker 1: components as we move along in this series. And tonight
- 0:51Speaker 1: we're going to begin talking just about some of those things.
- 0:54Speaker 1: What are the components involved in our salvations? And so
- 0:59Speaker 1: once again, we invite you to stay with us as
- 1:01Speaker 1: we get into it. The waters may get a little
- 1:05Speaker 1: murky as we get into the weeds. And there's a
- 1:09Speaker 1: reason why I say that, but that'll become clear as
- 1:12Speaker 1: we get into it. But we are glad that you
- 1:15Speaker 1: could join us, whether you're watching us live on the replay,
- 1:17Speaker 1: it's good to have you. We ask that you share
- 1:19Speaker 1: this page out and others also may be a part
- 1:22Speaker 1: of this particular study. Amen. We believe that this is
- 1:26Speaker 1: the this is the direction at this point in time
- 1:29Speaker 1: that the Lord would have us to go in this
- 1:32Speaker 1: ministry as we begin to talk about these important subjects,
- 1:37Speaker 1: our great salvation. Amen. We've spoken about it over the years.
- 1:40Speaker 1: We've spoken about this great salvation many times, but not
- 1:45Speaker 1: quite in this way, not quite as comprehensive as we
- 1:50Speaker 1: are doing now. And once again, when I say comprehensive,
- 1:53Speaker 1: there's still a limitation on that because There is no
- 1:55Speaker 1: way that we can be all comprehensive when it comes
- 1:58Speaker 1: to this great salvation because we have not been given.
- 2:01Speaker 1: We don't know everything. And we're not going to try
- 2:03Speaker 1: to pretend that we know everything. But as we get
- 2:08Speaker 1: into it, it'll become clear that this salvation that we have,
- 2:14Speaker 1: there's a reason why the Holy Spirit calls it great. Amen.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Because it is just that. So once again, thank you
- 2:23Speaker 1: so much. for joining us and for being a part
- 2:27Speaker 1: of this particular study. Amen. We call it study. You
- 2:31Speaker 1: may call it a lesson. Whatever it is, whatever you
- 2:35Speaker 1: deem it to be, we pray that you are blessed
- 2:39Speaker 1: by it and you'll be able to carry something away
- 2:41Speaker 1: with you. Maybe you will learn something that you did
- 2:44Speaker 1: not know. Maybe you will be educated in some aspect.
- 2:50Speaker 1: Maybe you will be inspired in another aspect. But whatever
- 2:54Speaker 1: the case is, we pray that somehow you are blessed
- 2:57Speaker 1: by the word of God, because it's the word of God.
- 2:59Speaker 1: It's all about the word of God. Amen. All about
- 3:03Speaker 1: the word of God. Amen. So once again, that is
- 3:06Speaker 1: the most important. That is what is most important about
- 3:10Speaker 1: this study. It's bringing the word of God together, enabling
- 3:15Speaker 1: us to have a better understanding of this great salvation. Amen.
- 3:20Speaker 1: So once again, thank you so much for uh, joining
- 3:24Speaker 1: us and for being a part. Uh, you can go
- 3:26Speaker 1: to our YouTube channel, which is that's where ministries where
- 3:29Speaker 1: we are streaming live. You can also go to our, uh,
- 3:32Speaker 1: Facebook ministry page, which is that's where ministries were also
- 3:36Speaker 1: streaming live there, uh, at this particular time. Amen. Uh, already.
- 3:40Speaker 1: So we are going to pray and we're going to
- 3:43Speaker 1: get right into the word of God. Let me just
- 3:46Speaker 1: say at the outset that we do invite your questions
- 3:49Speaker 1: and comments as we move along. Um, there's going to
- 3:53Speaker 1: be a lot of information that you're going to see.
- 3:56Speaker 1: And we don't intend to, as the slides come up,
- 4:00Speaker 1: and we're trying to be more interactive in this way,
- 4:02Speaker 1: as the slides come up, we're not trying to read
- 4:06Speaker 1: every word. We will get everything that is on the slide,
- 4:11Speaker 1: but I'm definitely not reading word for word. Amen. So
- 4:17Speaker 1: you can read word for word, take it as it comes.
- 4:21Speaker 1: But we're trying to be more interactive with our studies.
- 4:26Speaker 1: And that's where the Lord has me right now, being
- 4:31Speaker 1: a little bit more interactive as we bring across these studies. Amen.
- 4:35Speaker 1: All righty. So we're going to pray and we're going
- 4:37Speaker 1: to get right to it. Lord, we bless you. We
- 4:41Speaker 1: honor you. We thank you, Lord. Once again, you've given
- 4:42Speaker 1: us another opportunity, Lord, to open up your word. Lord,
- 4:47Speaker 1: we know that your word will continue and always be
- 4:49Speaker 1: a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path. Lord,
- 4:53Speaker 1: we know that we can do nothing without you. Lord,
- 4:56Speaker 1: we pray that you would guide us and lead us
- 4:58Speaker 1: in the direction that you would have us to go. Lord,
- 5:00Speaker 1: we don't want to say anything that would be considered
- 5:04Speaker 1: moving away from your word. Lord, we want to make
- 5:07Speaker 1: sure that we are always aligned with your word. So Lord,
- 5:11Speaker 1: have your way in us and through us as we
- 5:14Speaker 1: speak your word. Lord, you be the teacher, Lord Jesus.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Allow your Holy Spirit to come and say and do
- 5:18Speaker 1: that which you would have us to, and be that
- 5:22Speaker 1: which would have us to be and to know what
- 5:24Speaker 1: you would have us to know and draw those who
- 5:26Speaker 1: need to hear this particular word at this time to
- 5:30Speaker 1: this place on the worldwide web. Lord, once again, whether
- 5:32Speaker 1: it's live or whether it's on a replay, Lord, we
- 5:34Speaker 1: pray that you would have your way. Lord, we ask
- 5:38Speaker 1: for your presence even right now in Jesus' name. Amen. Amen.
- 5:42Speaker 1: God is good. God is good. God is on the throne.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Once again, we honor him, we bless him, and we
- 5:47Speaker 1: thank him for We thank him for all that he
- 5:50Speaker 1: is doing in us and all that he is doing
- 5:54Speaker 1: as we gather around his word. The word of God
- 5:59Speaker 1: is the only book you read. Remember these words. The
- 6:02Speaker 1: word of God is the only book you read where
- 6:04Speaker 1: the author is with you when you read it. Amen.
- 6:07Speaker 1: That is so very powerful and so very true. Amen. Well,
- 6:12Speaker 1: up to now, we've been talking about, up to now,
- 6:14Speaker 1: we've been talking about this great salvation. The last time
- 6:16Speaker 1: we got together, we were talking about reasons why we
- 6:20Speaker 1: need salvation. We gave you eight powerful reasons why salvation
- 6:26Speaker 1: is necessary at all. And we won't go over them
- 6:29Speaker 1: again tonight here, but eight powerful reasons why we need salvation.
- 6:35Speaker 1: And so now that we know the nature of our salvation,
- 6:38Speaker 1: that is just how great it is and why we
- 6:42Speaker 1: need it. Now, how do we get it? How does
- 6:47Speaker 1: one become saved? How does one become born again? How
- 6:51Speaker 1: does one become regenerated? Amen. How does it happen? And
- 6:57Speaker 1: let me just make this statement right at the top.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Let's start with a controversial statement. Number one, when I
- 7:04Speaker 1: say controversial, all I simply mean is that everybody agrees.
- 7:07Speaker 1: And once again, I'm getting ahead of myself, but that's okay. Also,
- 7:12Speaker 1: not everybody believes the same thing as it pertains to
- 7:17Speaker 1: our salvation. How do we get it? Okay. Not we, we,
- 7:21Speaker 1: there is no, there is no strict consensus. Everybody believes
- 7:28Speaker 1: all you got to do is trust in the Lord
- 7:29Speaker 1: Jesus Christ and be saved. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Now shall be saved. Yeah. We, we, we know what
- 7:35Speaker 1: the Bible says. Okay. But once again, different groups, different interpretations, uh, and, and,
- 7:43Speaker 1: and individuals come away with what they come away with. Um,
- 7:49Speaker 1: And that's just how it is. That's just how it is.
- 7:52Speaker 1: And so let's get into the weeds as I'm going
- 7:56Speaker 1: to refer to once again, as we get into the
- 8:00Speaker 1: word of God here. Let's start with the very straight
- 8:04Speaker 1: talk on this great salvation and just how is an
- 8:09Speaker 1: individual saved? How does it happen? How does it happen?
- 8:15Speaker 1: We know what it is and we know why it
- 8:18Speaker 1: is necessary. How does it happen? How do we acquire?
- 8:23Speaker 1: How do we receive this great salvation? Amen. That is
- 8:28Speaker 1: the question on the table tonight. So, you know, we've
- 8:33Speaker 1: previously spoken about this great salvation, the nature of it.
- 8:37Speaker 1: Now we're going to begin looking into how we receive
- 8:39Speaker 1: this great salvation. This is where we're going to once
- 8:43Speaker 1: again get into the weeds, but Once again, as I've
- 8:46Speaker 1: already explained, there is one thing that you may not know.
- 8:51Speaker 1: As to doctrine, as to doctrine, hear me well, as
- 8:56Speaker 1: to doctrine, there are things that are just that. Non-essentials
- 9:06Speaker 1: are non-essentials. Non-essential does not mean not important, not at all, okay?
- 9:13Speaker 1: Non-essential does not mean non-important, but non-essential means, as we look,
- 9:22Speaker 1: if believers do not agree on any one of the non-essentials,
- 9:27Speaker 1: there should be no problem. Because why? Because they don't
- 9:30Speaker 1: affect our salvation, okay? Your salvation does not leave or
- 9:37Speaker 1: go or flip or turn on the basis of whether
- 9:40Speaker 1: you believe A non-essential in this way, and someone else
- 9:44Speaker 1: may believe a particular doctrine in another way. It doesn't
- 9:49Speaker 1: affect your salvation. There are differences of views. We simply
- 9:54Speaker 1: must accept that there are differences of views in the
- 9:59Speaker 1: body of Christ. There are differences of views. And that
- 10:05Speaker 1: is as simple as it gets. Okay? In other words,
- 10:09Speaker 1: non-essentials should not divide. Non-essentials should not divide. Do non-essentials divide? Yes. Okay? Yes,
- 10:20Speaker 1: they do. People divide, churches divide, believers divide from one another,
- 10:26Speaker 1: split from one another over non-essentials, non-essentials, okay? That's why
- 10:33Speaker 1: we have, basically, that's the reason why we have denominations
- 10:37Speaker 1: because individuals, whoever they were from the past, they did
- 10:43Speaker 1: not agree on non-essentials. And based on these non-essentials, they
- 10:49Speaker 1: broke off from a group and began a new group
- 10:53Speaker 1: around what they believe versus what someone else believes. And
- 10:58Speaker 1: this is how denominations came into be. This is how
- 11:01Speaker 1: it all happened. Such was not the case at the
- 11:04Speaker 1: very beginning. Such was not the case in the early church.
- 11:08Speaker 1: They all believed. of course, in Christ Jesus, who Jesus was.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Now there were certain sects that were rising up. There
- 11:15Speaker 1: were the Judaizers. Oh yeah, there were the Judaizers. And
- 11:19Speaker 1: there were several other smaller groups that were also divisive,
- 11:24Speaker 1: but nothing like what we have now. Nothing like what
- 11:28Speaker 1: we have now. So non-essentials should not divide, but unfortunately,
- 11:34Speaker 1: non-essentials have divided, okay? But hear this one, if we
- 11:41Speaker 1: do not agree, talk about the body of Christ, if
- 11:43Speaker 1: we do not agree on essentials, on essentials, such as
- 11:48Speaker 1: how we are saved, then that matters. That's really problematic. Yes, unfortunately,
- 11:59Speaker 1: churches have divided, individuals have split from one another over non-essentials.
- 12:04Speaker 1: They're still saved, you're still saved, and you're still saved.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Everybody's still saved, but They're not agreeing on certain things.
- 12:12Speaker 1: But if you can't come together on how we are saved,
- 12:15Speaker 1: that's a big problem. That's a big problem. If we
- 12:19Speaker 1: cannot agree on the nature of salvation and how one
- 12:23Speaker 1: is saved, this is highly problematic and quite troubling, to
- 12:28Speaker 1: say the least. Very, very much so, okay? The fact is,
- 12:35Speaker 1: once again, that's the doctrine, right? The fact is that
- 12:41Speaker 1: the body of Christ is not in agreement, okay? The
- 12:46Speaker 1: body of Christ, churches, Christianity is not in agreement as
- 12:54Speaker 1: to how salvation happens. You might say, what? Yes, they are. No,
- 12:59Speaker 1: they're not. No, no. And we will see that as
- 13:03Speaker 1: we move along. Is it through repentance alone some say
- 13:07Speaker 1: that salvation is fire if we don't repent you're not
- 13:11Speaker 1: saved some say it's through faith alone it's faith in
- 13:15Speaker 1: the lord jesus christ period that's it i get it
- 13:17Speaker 1: don't don't i'm i'm not coming against i'm not coming
- 13:19Speaker 1: against any one of these because i'm just simply saying
- 13:22Speaker 1: what groups say it's through faith alone is it through
- 13:29Speaker 1: both is it the repentance and faith Is there a
- 13:32Speaker 1: sinner's prayer that is involved somewhere in this? Or is
- 13:35Speaker 1: a sinner's prayer necessary at all to receive salvation? Now listen,
- 13:40Speaker 1: surely the Lord does not, the Lord does not want
- 13:44Speaker 1: us confused over this most important aspect of salvation, how
- 13:51Speaker 1: we get it, okay? So let's first take a short
- 13:57Speaker 1: look at the essential, I'm not gonna dig deep here,
- 14:01Speaker 1: but I just want us to take a look at
- 14:03Speaker 1: the essentials and the non-essentials. First, let's look at the essentials, okay? Okay,
- 14:11Speaker 1: the fact that the Bible, these are the, another one,
- 14:16Speaker 1: when I talk about essentials, these are things that must
- 14:19Speaker 1: be agreed upon. Everybody agrees on these things, okay? Everybody agrees, okay?
- 14:26Speaker 1: the authority and inspiration of scripture, okay? The Bible is God-breathed.
- 14:34Speaker 1: The Bible is sufficient to guide all truth, okay? It
- 14:39Speaker 1: is inerrant. There are no errors in it. It's perfect.
- 14:46Speaker 1: That's a word that we would use. The theological words
- 14:49Speaker 1: are that it is inerrant. It is without error. That's
- 14:54Speaker 1: the word of God. Not gonna look at the scripture verses,
- 14:57Speaker 1: but that's the word of God. Everybody agrees that the
- 15:00Speaker 1: word of God is the word of God, okay? The
- 15:03Speaker 1: deity of Jesus Christ, okay? Jesus Christ is fully God
- 15:09Speaker 1: and fully man. Everybody agrees on this, okay? Everybody agrees
- 15:15Speaker 1: on this. As far as I know, never heard of
- 15:17Speaker 1: a church that doesn't believe that Jesus was not God
- 15:19Speaker 1: and man, okay? I have never heard of a church
- 15:23Speaker 1: that way. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but I've never
- 15:25Speaker 1: heard of it, okay? Salvation, and this is the one
- 15:29Speaker 1: that we're going to be talking about in this series.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Salvation by grace through faith alone, okay? Justification by faith
- 15:35Speaker 1: alone and not by works. Now, does everybody agree on
- 15:39Speaker 1: it just that way? Everybody does not agree on it
- 15:42Speaker 1: just quite that way. Not quite that way, okay? That's not, that's,
- 15:50Speaker 1: even though that's, that's it. but everybody believes that it
- 15:53Speaker 1: happens just like that, okay? The resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I've never heard of a church that said that Jesus
- 16:00Speaker 1: Christ didn't really rise from the dead, okay? Everybody agrees
- 16:03Speaker 1: on that, okay? Everybody agrees that Jesus Christ rose again.
- 16:08Speaker 1: The gospel, the gospel, okay? The message that Jesus died
- 16:13Speaker 1: for all sinners and rose again for everlasting life, okay? Now,
- 16:19Speaker 1: why is there a yellow highlight over the word all
- 16:22Speaker 1: because not all, not all churches quote denominations believe that
- 16:29Speaker 1: Jesus Christ died for everyone. No, I know we read
- 16:35Speaker 1: John 3, 16. It's very clear for God so loved
- 16:38Speaker 1: the world that he gave his only begotten son that
- 16:41Speaker 1: whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.
- 16:44Speaker 1: But there are denominations that believe that Jesus Christ only
- 16:48Speaker 1: died for those who actually will get saved, okay? He
- 16:54Speaker 1: only died for, there are those who believe that Jesus
- 16:56Speaker 1: Christ only died for those who will actually get saved.
- 17:00Speaker 1: He didn't die for the entirety of the world. He died,
- 17:04Speaker 1: if you're saved, he died for you. If I'm saved,
- 17:07Speaker 1: he died for me. If someone dies unsaved, that means
- 17:10Speaker 1: that Jesus Christ did not die for them because they
- 17:12Speaker 1: died without him. That's what folk believe. That's what many believe.
- 17:19Speaker 1: There was even a tract that was put out several
- 17:23Speaker 1: years back by one particular group, and the tract was entitled,
- 17:28Speaker 1: Does God Love You? Not God loves you, but the
- 17:32Speaker 1: tract was entitled, Does God Love You? In other words,
- 17:35Speaker 1: could it be that you are one of the ones
- 17:38Speaker 1: that Jesus died for? Okay? Could it be that you
- 17:42Speaker 1: are one of the ones that Jesus died for? Okay? Okay?
- 17:46Speaker 1: And that's part of the whole, well, once again, I
- 17:50Speaker 1: don't want to get ahead of myself, but we'll get
- 17:53Speaker 1: into that particular brand of theology, that particular brand of
- 17:58Speaker 1: reformed theology a little bit as we move along. But yes,
- 18:02Speaker 1: the gospel message that Jesus died for all is not
- 18:06Speaker 1: accepted by everyone. I repeat, there are those who believe
- 18:11Speaker 1: that Jesus Christ died only for those who actually get
- 18:17Speaker 1: saved or who have gotten saved. And I'll explain that
- 18:22Speaker 1: a little bit more in the coming weeks. Monotheism. One
- 18:29Speaker 1: God in three persons, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Okay, now,
- 18:34Speaker 1: does everyone believe? Oh, you're saying, we're talking about there's
- 18:37Speaker 1: one God. So you're talking about the Trinity. Yes, the
- 18:41Speaker 1: triune God. Doesn't everybody, don't all denominations, agree that there
- 18:49Speaker 1: is a Trinity? And the answer is no. No. There
- 18:54Speaker 1: is at least one. And many believe that this particular
- 19:00Speaker 1: one group or quote denomination is on the fringe because
- 19:04Speaker 1: of what they believe. There's a Jesus only mindset that
- 19:09Speaker 1: they adhere to. And they believe that there is no
- 19:14Speaker 1: trinity there is no trinity and and many have many
- 19:19Speaker 1: have coined this particular group uh this oneness group many
- 19:24Speaker 1: have deemed them to be cultic i i'm not sure
- 19:28Speaker 1: how cultic it is but i know that that particular
- 19:33Speaker 1: group does not believe in a trinity and so these
- 19:37Speaker 1: two points at least there may be a couple of
- 19:39Speaker 1: others but these are the ones that we have focused
- 19:42Speaker 1: on uh When it comes to believing the essentials, everybody
- 19:48Speaker 1: doesn't believe that Jesus died for everyone and everybody does
- 19:51Speaker 1: not believe that there is a Trinity, okay? Everybody doesn't
- 19:58Speaker 1: believe that, okay? So what are the non-essentials, okay? Once again,
- 20:05Speaker 1: if you believe something different concerning the non-essentials, you're still saved, okay?
- 20:13Speaker 1: You're still saved, okay? And we can all still, we
- 20:17Speaker 1: can all still get along, okay? Even if we don't
- 20:22Speaker 1: agree on these things, all right? Let's take a look.
- 20:26Speaker 1: All right, the non-essentials, eschatology, okay? And when we talk
- 20:30Speaker 1: about eschatology, we're talking about the various views concerning the
- 20:35Speaker 1: end times, okay? Okay, talking about the rapture, talking about
- 20:39Speaker 1: the millennium, talking about these things. Everybody doesn't believe that
- 20:44Speaker 1: there's going to be a rapture, believe it or not.
- 20:47Speaker 1: All Christians do not believe it. All denominations, I have
- 20:51Speaker 1: to put denominations in there because unfortunately, that's the world
- 20:54Speaker 1: that we live in. All denominations do not teach that
- 20:59Speaker 1: there is going to be a rapture, okay? Churches that
- 21:03Speaker 1: do preach a rapture, some preach a rapture that's going
- 21:06Speaker 1: to be Before the tribulation, some preach that a rapture
- 21:08Speaker 1: is going to be in the middle of the tribulation.
- 21:11Speaker 1: Some believe that it's at the end. Listen, well, beginning
- 21:17Speaker 1: and middle, okay? Some preach, the domination believe that there
- 21:22Speaker 1: is no millennium. There is no 1,000-year millennium, okay? We
- 21:27Speaker 1: will go from this life into judgment and eternity. There
- 21:30Speaker 1: is no seven-year tribulation, okay? none of those things that
- 21:37Speaker 1: we read about from the book of Daniel and from
- 21:39Speaker 1: the book of Revelation, when you put it all together,
- 21:42Speaker 1: there are those who believe that none of that is true.
- 21:46Speaker 1: None of that is true, okay? And what are you
- 21:52Speaker 1: going to do? Do you take them and throw them away?
- 21:54Speaker 1: They're not really Christian because they don't believe those things.
- 21:56Speaker 1: That's not where I go. If they are saved, if
- 21:59Speaker 1: they are born again, And they don't believe that there
- 22:03Speaker 1: is a rapture or millennium or all those things, a
- 22:07Speaker 1: seven year tribulation period. If they don't believe it and
- 22:10Speaker 1: they're born again, they're born again. If I'm wrong, if
- 22:15Speaker 1: I'm wrong about all these things, I'm still saved. If
- 22:18Speaker 1: they're wrong about those things, then they're still saved. Okay.
- 22:22Speaker 1: The most important fact is that we have Jesus. The
- 22:25Speaker 1: most important fact is that we are born again. We
- 22:28Speaker 1: are regenerated. We are We have the spirit of God
- 22:31Speaker 1: in us, okay? That is what is more important than
- 22:35Speaker 1: whether we agree on these non-essentials. Secondly, the creation views,
- 22:41Speaker 1: a young earth versus the old earth. There are those
- 22:43Speaker 1: who believe that the earth is about 6,000 to 7,000
- 22:45Speaker 1: years old, and there are others who believe that the
- 22:47Speaker 1: earth is millions of years old. There are those who
- 22:50Speaker 1: believe in a gap theory, that there was a whole
- 22:53Speaker 1: nother earth and civilization before the one that we have,
- 22:58Speaker 1: based on some wording in Genesis chapter number one. And
- 23:02Speaker 1: there are others who believe, no way, that doesn't happen.
- 23:04Speaker 1: The Bible doesn't say it, so it never happened. So
- 23:07Speaker 1: in the beginning, that's what we know and that's what
- 23:09Speaker 1: we go with. But whatever you believe concerning the creation,
- 23:17Speaker 1: if you're saved, you're saved. We can agree to disagree
- 23:21Speaker 1: on that, okay? Bible translations, okay? Some people are King
- 23:28Speaker 1: James only. OK, the Bible wasn't written in the King
- 23:31Speaker 1: James in King James English. OK, the reason why we
- 23:35Speaker 1: have different translations is because and why they read differently,
- 23:39Speaker 1: because they use different manuscripts. That's why they read differently.
- 23:44Speaker 1: And the argument is that the more the more manuscripts
- 23:48Speaker 1: that have been found and unearthed, they they reveal some
- 23:52Speaker 1: different things or or different things that may not be
- 23:56Speaker 1: in the King James version that we adhere to. Listen,
- 24:00Speaker 1: if you read a King James Version or a New
- 24:03Speaker 1: King James Version or an NIV or an NLT and
- 24:09Speaker 1: you are born again, you're born again. You're born again.
- 24:15Speaker 1: You're born again, okay? So Bible translation preferences, whether it's
- 24:21Speaker 1: a word-for-word translation or a thought-for-thought, we won't get into
- 24:24Speaker 1: all of that, but whatever it is, whatever Bible you read,
- 24:27Speaker 1: it's important. I will say that. The Bible that you
- 24:30Speaker 1: read is important. You don't want a Bible that's going
- 24:33Speaker 1: to water down the word of God. You don't want
- 24:35Speaker 1: a Bible that's going to take phrases and words out.
- 24:39Speaker 1: You don't want that. Okay? And the King James Version
- 24:44Speaker 1: does not do that. So anyway, but if you're saved,
- 24:48Speaker 1: you're saved. Okay? We should not part ways as brothers
- 24:52Speaker 1: and sisters because you read one version and I read another. No,
- 24:56Speaker 1: we are still brothers and sisters in Christ, okay? Church governance, okay?
- 25:01Speaker 1: Some churches believe that it's about elders and some believe
- 25:06Speaker 1: it's more congregational, sacramental practices concerning communion, how it is
- 25:14Speaker 1: served and what they mean. Are they emblems? Are they symbols?
- 25:19Speaker 1: There's a such thing as consubstantiation and consubstantiation means that
- 25:28Speaker 1: Jesus' body and blood are with the elements, with the elements. Now,
- 25:34Speaker 1: we don't definitely subscribe to transubstantiation. That's a Catholic doctrine
- 25:39Speaker 1: and we are not Catholic at all. Catholic is not
- 25:42Speaker 1: a Christian denomination and we do not subscribe to transubstantiation,
- 25:48Speaker 1: which they believe that the emblems of the broken body
- 25:52Speaker 1: and the broken blood, that the wafer becomes his body,
- 25:55Speaker 1: and the wine actually becomes his blood. No, we don't,
- 25:57Speaker 1: we don't agree with that, but the Lutheran view and,
- 26:01Speaker 1: and other denomination believe that his body and blood are, are,
- 26:05Speaker 1: are with, are with those elements. And once again, whatever
- 26:10Speaker 1: view you have, uh, aside from the transubstantiation, uh, which is,
- 26:15Speaker 1: you need to throw that one out. Um, but people
- 26:19Speaker 1: believe differently. People, different denomination believe differently. Okay. Uh, the
- 26:25Speaker 1: mode of baptism, okay? Whether you sprinkle or whether you immerse, okay?
- 26:32Speaker 1: Now we know that biblically, biblically, and I'm not trying
- 26:36Speaker 1: to make an argument for this, but it has to
- 26:39Speaker 1: be said that biblically, the proper way to baptize is
- 26:42Speaker 1: through immersion. The word baptize means to immerse. That's what
- 26:47Speaker 1: the word means, okay? We don't believe in aspersion, which is,
- 26:52Speaker 1: I believe that's sprinkling. We don't know, that's pouring. There's
- 26:55Speaker 1: pouring and then there's sprinkling. But baptism, the word baptized
- 26:59Speaker 1: means to submerge, to go under and to come back up.
- 27:02Speaker 1: So that's the, we believe that's the proper way. But
- 27:05Speaker 1: if you are in a church that sprinkles, if you
- 27:07Speaker 1: are in a church that pours, aside from the Catholic church, well,
- 27:14Speaker 1: I have to say that's not true baptism. But if
- 27:17Speaker 1: you're born again, you're born again. Okay? If you are
- 27:21Speaker 1: born again, you are born again. Okay? Okay? Whether you
- 27:25Speaker 1: are baptized or not and how you are baptized does
- 27:29Speaker 1: not affect your salvation. If you have the indwelling spirit
- 27:34Speaker 1: within you, then you are saved. Whether somebody submerged you,
- 27:40Speaker 1: poured water on your head, or sprinkled, you are born
- 27:45Speaker 1: again if you are born again. It's not going to change.
- 27:50Speaker 1: It's not going to change your status as a child
- 27:51Speaker 1: of God. Oh, you didn't get baptized. You didn't get submerged.
- 27:54Speaker 1: So you're not really saved anymore. No, that doesn't happen. Okay.
- 27:58Speaker 1: If you're saved, you're saved. Worship style. There's liturgical, contemporary instruments,
- 28:05Speaker 1: music types. There are denominations that do not have music
- 28:08Speaker 1: in the church at all because they believe that music
- 28:11Speaker 1: in the church is worldly. They have no music at all.
- 28:16Speaker 1: And you can see how sometimes music can excite the senses.
- 28:23Speaker 1: Music in the church can excite the carnal man and
- 28:27Speaker 1: bring out a part of you that does not need
- 28:29Speaker 1: to be a part of our worship and praise. Music
- 28:32Speaker 1: can do that. So our music must be tempered. And
- 28:36Speaker 1: we must make sure that whatever music that is playing
- 28:39Speaker 1: in our particular churches that doesn't draw us or bring
- 28:42Speaker 1: us into carnality because then we have a problem. But
- 28:48Speaker 1: every church is different. Some churches are more silent. Some
- 28:51Speaker 1: churches are more ramped up. But we need to always
- 28:55Speaker 1: remain true to the Spirit of God. We don't want
- 28:59Speaker 1: to drive the Spirit of God out of our church
- 29:03Speaker 1: through carnality if we get too hyped and too excited, okay? Okay,
- 29:09Speaker 1: the gifts of the Spirit, okay? Tongues and prophecy and healing,
- 29:15Speaker 1: et cetera. Listen. everybody in this world is not ever
- 29:24Speaker 1: going to speak in tongues. There are millions of Christians,
- 29:33Speaker 1: millions of bona fide, guaranteed 100% Christian people who have
- 29:36Speaker 1: never spoken in tongues and will never speak in tongues.
- 29:45Speaker 1: And I speak as one who believes in speaking in tongues,
- 29:48Speaker 1: who has spoken in tongues, who speaks in tongues from
- 29:52Speaker 1: time to time. Everybody's not going to do it. No
- 29:56Speaker 1: matter what you say and no matter what you do,
- 29:59Speaker 1: Some people are never going to, quote, experience it. Some
- 30:02Speaker 1: people are never going to have that particular dynamic as
- 30:06Speaker 1: a part of their life. Why? Because they simply don't
- 30:08Speaker 1: believe it. They simply don't agree with it, okay? And
- 30:12Speaker 1: nothing that we say is going to change anybody's thinking
- 30:16Speaker 1: on it. So we have to agree to disagree on this, okay?
- 30:24Speaker 1: Pentecostals and charismatics do not rule the Christian world. If
- 30:28Speaker 1: everybody's not like us, we do not cast them out.
- 30:31Speaker 1: There is no caste system in Christianity. So we must
- 30:36Speaker 1: be mindful of that. So tongues, all the gifts of
- 30:40Speaker 1: the spirit, prophecy, there are groups that totally put that
- 30:45Speaker 1: out of their, what they believe. They do not believe
- 30:49Speaker 1: those things. And I can say that's fine. And it's
- 30:53Speaker 1: not fine as far as I'm concerned, but If they're
- 30:57Speaker 1: born again, if they're saved, what can I say? What
- 31:02Speaker 1: can I say? Okay? I'm sure, I am sure, well,
- 31:07Speaker 1: let me put it this way. I don't believe, I
- 31:10Speaker 1: don't believe that we're going to be in heaven speaking
- 31:12Speaker 1: in tongues. Okay? That's something that's for here for now,
- 31:17Speaker 1: if that's what you believe. I don't believe that we're
- 31:19Speaker 1: going to be in heaven prophesying. Okay? Okay? There's going
- 31:23Speaker 1: to be no need for healing in heaven. Everybody's going
- 31:25Speaker 1: to be whole. Everybody's going to be healthy. Those things
- 31:28Speaker 1: are relegated for this earth life that we are living
- 31:31Speaker 1: in because we are living in a cursed world right now.
- 31:35Speaker 1: So tongues and prophecy and all those things, we just
- 31:39Speaker 1: have to agree to disagree. Everybody is not going to
- 31:42Speaker 1: come together. These are non-essentials, but if we're all born again,
- 31:46Speaker 1: we can all walk together if we don't agree on
- 31:49Speaker 1: these things. Amen? So there's a little taste of the
- 31:53Speaker 1: essentials and the non-essentials. So now, what are some of
- 32:02Speaker 1: the views on how we are actually saved? All right.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Some teach, some teach that salvation is only through faith.
- 32:15Speaker 1: And obviously we read from Ephesians chapter two, verses eight
- 32:18Speaker 1: and nine. For by grace are you saved through faith
- 32:23Speaker 1: And that not of yourself, it is the gift of God,
- 32:27Speaker 1: not of work, lest anyone should boast. This is, we're
- 32:33Speaker 1: saved by grace through faith. That's obvious from this verse.
- 32:38Speaker 1: Acts 16, 31. And they said, believe on the Lord
- 32:42Speaker 1: Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved and thy house.
- 32:47Speaker 1: Faith is the noun and believing there is, is the verb, okay?
- 32:55Speaker 1: Faith is the, is what we, is, faith is the noun.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Let me just repeat myself here. Faith is the noun
- 33:03Speaker 1: and believing is the action, okay? These verses demonstrate the
- 33:10Speaker 1: promise of salvation to those who believe, demonstrating the primacy
- 33:17Speaker 1: of faith, all right? Some teach, That salvation is only
- 33:26Speaker 1: through repentance. Okay, what do you do with, what do
- 33:30Speaker 1: you do with a verse like Acts 3.19 that says,
- 33:33Speaker 1: repent ye therefore and be converted that your sins may
- 33:36Speaker 1: be blotted out. When the times of refreshment shall come
- 33:39Speaker 1: from the presence of the Lord. And Luke 13.3, I
- 33:43Speaker 1: tell you nay, this is Jesus speaking, except ye repent,
- 33:48Speaker 1: ye shall all likewise perish. So here, it seems to
- 33:52Speaker 1: say that repentance is the key. It's repentance. Is it faith? Yeah.
- 33:59Speaker 1: But is it repentance also? Read what it says, okay? Next,
- 34:06Speaker 1: some teach that salvation is through water baptism. Yes, yes, yes,
- 34:14Speaker 1: we know. It's called, those who believe this, it's called
- 34:18Speaker 1: baptismal regeneration. baptismal regeneration, which teach that unless you are
- 34:25Speaker 1: water baptized, you are not born again. Okay, that's what
- 34:30Speaker 1: they believe. Unless you are water baptized. Okay, let's look
- 34:36Speaker 1: at some of the scriptures that would seem to say this.
- 34:40Speaker 1: Acts 22, 16. And now why tarryest thou? Arise and
- 34:45Speaker 1: be baptized. And hear what it says. Wash away thy sins.
- 34:50Speaker 1: calling on the name of the Lord. Okay? Now, I'm
- 34:55Speaker 1: not going to get into the logistics of this particular verse,
- 35:01Speaker 1: but let me just say that this verse does not
- 35:04Speaker 1: say what it seems to be saying. Okay? I just
- 35:08Speaker 1: read it. I just read it. Arise and be baptized
- 35:12Speaker 1: and wash away your sins. Okay? But as it is
- 35:17Speaker 1: in the original, it's... Flipped around, okay? Calling on the
- 35:24Speaker 1: name of the Lord to wash away your sins and
- 35:27Speaker 1: be baptized. That's how it is in the original, okay?
- 35:31Speaker 1: So apart from that, John 3, 5, Jesus is speaking here.
- 35:36Speaker 1: Verily I say unto you, unto thee, except a man
- 35:40Speaker 1: be born of water and of the spirit, he cannot
- 35:45Speaker 1: enter into the kingdom of God. So what is Jesus
- 35:48Speaker 1: talking about? This is Jesus. What is he saying? Is
- 35:50Speaker 1: Jesus saying that you gotta be born of water, born
- 35:53Speaker 1: again of water? He doesn't say born again of water, okay?
- 35:57Speaker 1: Born of water and of the spirit. He also made
- 35:59Speaker 1: these same statements to Nicodemus that we are born, we
- 36:05Speaker 1: are born. Let me go to the scripture. Let me
- 36:09Speaker 1: go to, so I don't misread it. Let me go
- 36:11Speaker 1: to John chapter number three and let's look at this
- 36:16Speaker 1: very well-known discourse. that Jesus had. I'm in John 3
- 36:22Speaker 1: and chapter number 3. John 3, 3, starting in verse
- 36:26Speaker 1: number 3. Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily,
- 36:28Speaker 1: I say unto thee, except a man be born again,
- 36:31Speaker 1: he cannot see the kingdom of God. That's what we
- 36:33Speaker 1: just read. Nicodemus said unto him, How can a man
- 36:35Speaker 1: be born when he is old? Can he enter the
- 36:38Speaker 1: second time into his mother's womb and be born? Obviously,
- 36:41Speaker 1: if you hear somebody say that you need to be
- 36:44Speaker 1: born again, And you never heard that phrase before. What
- 36:49Speaker 1: are you going to think? What he said was not
- 36:51Speaker 1: foolish or stupid. Okay. It was not. He didn't know
- 36:55Speaker 1: what Jesus was talking about. He means got to be
- 36:58Speaker 1: born again. I got to go back up inside my mother.
- 37:01Speaker 1: That's what he said. He's thinking, he's thinking out of
- 37:03Speaker 1: the box. That's what it sounds like to him. Verse
- 37:06Speaker 1: number five, verily, verily I say unto thee, except a
- 37:09Speaker 1: man be born of water and of the spirit, he
- 37:11Speaker 1: cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is
- 37:14Speaker 1: born of the flesh, It's flesh. And that which is
- 37:19Speaker 1: born of the spirit is spirit. We're born of water
- 37:26Speaker 1: when we are born from our mother's womb. That's why
- 37:29Speaker 1: he said that which is born of flesh is flesh.
- 37:33Speaker 1: And that which is born of the spirit is spirit. Okay?
- 37:38Speaker 1: Being born of water is not being born of water baptism.
- 37:43Speaker 1: Not at all. We go to Romans. I didn't include
- 37:46Speaker 1: this verse, but let me go to Romans. The book
- 37:50Speaker 1: of Romans chapter number six, where it says in verse
- 37:55Speaker 1: number three, know ye not that so many of us
- 37:59Speaker 1: as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death.
- 38:04Speaker 1: Those who believe in baptismal regeneration also would use this
- 38:08Speaker 1: verse to say, yes, we gotta be baptized into Jesus.
- 38:11Speaker 1: That's talking about water baptism. No, it is not. It
- 38:15Speaker 1: is not talking about being baptized into water. We are
- 38:20Speaker 1: baptized into Jesus when we are born again. When we
- 38:25Speaker 1: are born again, when the spirit of God enters into
- 38:30Speaker 1: our life, after we receive him by faith, by grace
- 38:35Speaker 1: through faith, as we just read from Ephesians, we are
- 38:39Speaker 1: baptized into Christ, fully submerged into Christ. That is what
- 38:44Speaker 1: it's talking about here. It's not talking about water baptism
- 38:48Speaker 1: at all, okay? When we are baptized into Jesus Christ,
- 38:53Speaker 1: we were baptized into his death. Therefore, we are buried
- 38:56Speaker 1: with him by baptism into death that like as Christ
- 39:00Speaker 1: was raised up from the dead by the glory of
- 39:03Speaker 1: the Father, even so we also should walk in newness
- 39:07Speaker 1: of life. And so once again, the picture is that
- 39:12Speaker 1: we were buried with Christ in baptism and we were
- 39:14Speaker 1: raised together in new life. Now, this is what happens
- 39:17Speaker 1: when we do get baptized in water. Water baptism is
- 39:22Speaker 1: an outward show of what has happened to us spiritually, okay? Buried,
- 39:30Speaker 1: raised again in new life. That's what water baptism signifies. Okay?
- 39:35Speaker 1: It's an illustration. But in no way, shape, or form
- 39:40Speaker 1: should we believe that water baptism has anything to do
- 39:46Speaker 1: with your becoming saved. Because it does not save. You
- 39:50Speaker 1: go in the waters of baptism. The only thing that
- 39:52Speaker 1: happens is you get wet. You come up wet, okay?
- 39:57Speaker 1: That's it, okay? Nothing, there is no spiritual transaction that
- 40:01Speaker 1: takes place when you go in that water. Not at all, okay?
- 40:08Speaker 1: Let's go to the next slide. Some believe, some believe
- 40:16Speaker 1: that salvation is through good works and keeping the law. Yes,
- 40:21Speaker 1: there are those who still cling to the law. There
- 40:25Speaker 1: are those who still cling to the law, that somehow
- 40:28Speaker 1: the law makes us righteous. Somehow the law is something
- 40:32Speaker 1: that is still required by God in order to solidify
- 40:37Speaker 1: our salvation. No, no. The law of Moses is consistently
- 40:41Speaker 1: portrayed as the covenant and teaching given to Israel which
- 40:49Speaker 1: cannot alone provide salvation. Salvation was and is through Jesus Christ, okay?
- 40:56Speaker 1: As the law points to him and reveals sin, but
- 41:00Speaker 1: cannot save apart from him. Yet, yet, yet, yet. Many
- 41:04Speaker 1: believe and teach that law plays a role in our righteousness.
- 41:09Speaker 1: It does not. It does not, okay? So get the law,
- 41:15Speaker 1: you know, Run to Jesus and leave Moses alone. As
- 41:21Speaker 1: far as it pertains to the law. Run to Jesus
- 41:26Speaker 1: and leave Moses alone. Okay? Moses didn't die for you.
- 41:34Speaker 1: There's nothing in the law that can make you righteous. Okay?
- 41:38Speaker 1: What the law does is reveal our sinfulness. The law
- 41:43Speaker 1: reveals our sinfulness. The gospel reveals God's grace. Okay, we
- 41:49Speaker 1: read in the book of John that the law came
- 41:52Speaker 1: through Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
- 41:58Speaker 1: So how can you have law and grace at the
- 42:01Speaker 1: same time? You cannot, you cannot. Galatians chapter two, Galatians
- 42:09Speaker 1: chapter two and verse number 20 and 21 make this
- 42:14Speaker 1: crystal clear. Okay, I am crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I
- 42:19Speaker 1: live yet not I, but Christ lives in me. And
- 42:22Speaker 1: the life which I now live in the flesh, I
- 42:25Speaker 1: live by the faith of the son of God who
- 42:26Speaker 1: loved me and gave himself for me. I do not
- 42:30Speaker 1: frustrate or push aside, set aside. That's what that word
- 42:34Speaker 1: frustrate means. I do not frustrate the grace of God.
- 42:38Speaker 1: For if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is
- 42:43Speaker 1: dead in vain. The Bible says that Christ is the
- 42:47Speaker 1: end of the law. The Bible says that the law
- 42:50Speaker 1: is a ministry of death. The Bible says that the
- 42:52Speaker 1: law is a ministry of condemnation. At the same time,
- 42:57Speaker 1: the law is good because it shows us what God expects.
- 43:03Speaker 1: The law is good because it does, it did what
- 43:07Speaker 1: it set out to do. God did not create something
- 43:11Speaker 1: that was flawed. The law was not flawed at all.
- 43:16Speaker 1: There was just nothing in it that could make you righteous.
- 43:19Speaker 1: And that's the way it was meant to be. The
- 43:21Speaker 1: law was meant as a school teacher, as the Bible
- 43:24Speaker 1: says in Galatians, it was meant as a tutor, a
- 43:27Speaker 1: school teacher, to lead people to Christ. But we can't
- 43:31Speaker 1: hold on to the law and think that we are
- 43:33Speaker 1: being righteous when we are doing it or think that
- 43:36Speaker 1: somehow the law has anything to do with our salvation. No,
- 43:41Speaker 1: it does not. It does not, okay? Finally, there are actually,
- 43:47Speaker 1: and I included this because I've come across this a
- 43:50Speaker 1: little bit, some believe that salvation is through church membership
- 44:01Speaker 1: or what is known as joining the church. Many church
- 44:04Speaker 1: traditions see joining a church through the right hand of
- 44:07Speaker 1: fellowship sufficient for signifying a person's recognition as part of
- 44:12Speaker 1: a body of believers. This practice serves to promote a
- 44:15Speaker 1: false sense of security for many. In other words, you
- 44:19Speaker 1: come forward. Sometimes the pastor will give an invitation. Who
- 44:21Speaker 1: wants to join the church? I've seen this. I've been
- 44:24Speaker 1: in churches that have done this. Who wants to join
- 44:26Speaker 1: the church? And someone gets up and comes and shakes
- 44:29Speaker 1: the pastor's hand. And that is seen as now you
- 44:32Speaker 1: are included. Now you are part of this church. And
- 44:35Speaker 1: that person goes away thinking, I'm good. I'm in. I'm okay. Nah.
- 44:42Speaker 1: But unfortunately, that is obviously not a way to salvation.
- 44:48Speaker 1: Not at all. Okay? Alrighty. We're going to stop right here,
- 44:55Speaker 1: but let me just leave this right here. There are
- 44:59Speaker 1: four primary elements involved in our coming to new life
- 45:04Speaker 1: in Christ. Okay? And they are deeply interconnected and two-woven
- 45:10Speaker 1: with one another. These elements are conviction, Faith, repentance, and confession.
- 45:20Speaker 1: And when we come together next time, we're gonna begin
- 45:23Speaker 1: defining each one, okay? Conviction, faith, repentance, and confession. We're
- 45:31Speaker 1: gonna define and look at their role in salvation the
- 45:34Speaker 1: next time that we come together, amen? So that'll be
- 45:38Speaker 1: the end of this particular session. We pray that you've
- 45:42Speaker 1: learned something. We pray that something you can take away
- 45:45Speaker 1: from this particular study. God bless you, Kian. I see you,
- 45:49Speaker 1: my man. God bless you, Deanna. Also, God bless you.
- 45:54Speaker 1: We thank you all for joining us. Don't forget to
- 45:57Speaker 1: share this out if you don't mind, to share it
- 45:59Speaker 1: out that others also may be blessed by the word
- 46:02Speaker 1: of God. We do see you. We thank you for
- 46:05Speaker 1: joining us on YouTube. We see you and God bless
- 46:09Speaker 1: you too. Amen. God is good. God is on the throne.
- 46:13Speaker 1: We just honor him and we thank him for what
- 46:14Speaker 1: he is doing. You can catch me on this, myself
- 46:19Speaker 1: and Juliana. We will be together on Friday at one
- 46:23Speaker 1: o'clock p.m. Eastern Standard Time as we continue our brand
- 46:26Speaker 1: new study in the book of John, the gospel of John.
- 46:30Speaker 1: We're still in the first chapter and I believe we
- 46:32Speaker 1: are just about, well, we are still in chapter one.
- 46:37Speaker 1: Not sure what verse, but we're in chapter number one.
- 46:40Speaker 1: So join us. there once again on Friday if you can.
- 46:44Speaker 1: And once again, that's 1 o'clock p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
- 46:49Speaker 1: And so that'll be it, everyone. We know that these
- 46:57Speaker 1: studies are meant to educate, to inspire, and to awaken.
- 47:04Speaker 1: I believe it's important that we understand truth, that we
- 47:09Speaker 1: not be sidetracked, and that we not be deceived. So
- 47:14Speaker 1: I think that these particular studies will help us in
- 47:18Speaker 1: that direction. Amen. So we thank you for joining us. Amen.
- 47:23Speaker 1: All righty. If there are no questions or comments, I
- 47:26Speaker 1: always say that at the end of my lessons when
- 47:27Speaker 1: I'm teaching at church. If there are no questions or
- 47:30Speaker 1: comments or suggestions, we are going to leave it right there.
- 47:33Speaker 1: I want to thank everybody for joining us and for
- 47:36Speaker 1: being a part, and we'll be back again next week.
- 47:40Speaker 1: And we are going to pick up right here where
- 47:45Speaker 1: we have left off. Amen. So until the next time
- 47:48Speaker 1: we meet, we'll see you next time. Have a good
- 47:51Speaker 1: rest of your week and God bless you.
