- 0:00Welcome to Rick and that Michelle chick.
- 0:02I'm that Michelle chick. And I'm Rick, welcome in.
- 0:05Come on in. Okay, so we've discussed how I
- 0:09in a past podcast with I think it was last episode, how I am
- 0:14busy cleaning out our storage units.
- 0:16Yeah, I'm almost done. Not quite, but that's right.
- 0:22QR codes on all the shot. This is going to be a plug for
- 0:25Costco. They're black totes with the
- 0:29yellow lids. That's what I'm putting
- 0:31everything in with the QR codes because they stack up.
- 0:34They stack up great. I know I'm crazy.
- 0:36I'm almost done. I only have a few things left.
- 0:40Some of them are my my dad's and you know, that's a little more
- 0:42difficult to go through, but I have to just do it and get it
- 0:46over with. He's been gone almost eight
- 0:48years. So it's just something I just
- 0:50need to do. And that's really all I have
- 0:54left. But sad news in the fact that
- 0:57that's all I have left. I have been able to sort through
- 1:02everything or figure out what's in everything and I cannot find
- 1:08any of my air check tapes. None of them I know.
- 1:13That's crazy. I, I, I have for sure they were
- 1:17in storage. OK.
- 1:18I even have some from my days at Skill Center.
- 1:22I think I had like one or two which, you know, they would have
- 1:25been cassette tapes. I think I had one or two of
- 1:29those at. Leah's dye had yes.
- 1:32Interesting. I they wouldn't be in the house,
- 1:35they would have been in storage and I'm so sad over this.
- 1:39That means like I have lost all of them.
- 1:42I've lost everything from skill center to like part time at KXW.
- 1:48D to. Crosser to back to KX, WDTOKF FM
- 1:53to back to KFM to the bowl. I think once we stopped using
- 1:57cassettes as air checks, air checks, that's where I I don't
- 2:01have any more so. And the bum, the bummer.
- 2:03But the the bummer now is you can't get one of those old chair
- 2:06air checks and take it to the Christmas party and make fun of
- 2:08yourself, right? Or they make fun of you, No.
- 2:12So hopefully I again, I have gone through almost every single
- 2:17tote that has been in both storage units.
- 2:21So I they probably got accidentally thrown away, I'm
- 2:25thinking, or just. Through the years, you think?
- 2:27Yeah, Did you? Yeah, now maybe it's different
- 2:31for you. No, you know, not to throw us
- 2:34off course, but it's funny listening back to your old air
- 2:40checks. When you listen back to your old
- 2:41air checks, do you, do you like it or you're like, I, I look at
- 2:48like who let this person on the air?
- 2:51Why is this person on the air? They're they're, they're
- 2:54horrific. They're horrible.
- 2:55Why are they on the radio? And how did they get a job?
- 2:58Yes, it pains me to listen to them, but it's just the fact
- 3:02that I do. If I did want to listen back to
- 3:05them or even tell my kids, hey, listen to what mom used to say
- 3:11and like, I mean, they would be torture.
- 3:14I'd be torturous for them, but. Well, but.
- 3:15It's just the fact that I don't have the choice now I don't have
- 3:18them at all. But it's interesting because,
- 3:20OK, so from a so from a male, female perspective, so when I
- 3:25first got started and I went through, I went through all
- 3:28these phases trying to find my own voice or who I was.
- 3:31And so was interested when I first got started in radio
- 3:33number one, they said that I didn't have a deep enough voice
- 3:36and all these different things. So I would puke.
- 3:39They called it puking. I don't think, I don't think we
- 3:41talked about puking. We have, yes, because you'll do
- 3:44your little, you'll do your little pill give way.
- 3:46Yeah, exactly. But I think we talked about it
- 3:49in like our definitions. I think somehow it got in there.
- 3:52Yeah. So for me, so I'm curious for
- 3:54your journey in radio or, or your personality, did you always
- 3:58sound like you sound like right now in your in your own mind or,
- 4:02or do you feel like it's refined over time?
- 4:07It's definitely, yeah, it's definitely refined for me.
- 4:12So you when I first started that would have been in the 90s like
- 4:17early, you know, 909192 and back then, you know, women were the
- 4:24sex symbol E like that's how I was told that I had to kind of
- 4:29be especially. Like, breathy kind of breathy, I
- 4:32guess. Yes, yes.
- 4:34And and because I was so young that I needed to sound older and
- 4:39so, yeah, with a combination of those two things, yeah.
- 4:44Because I can get high pitcher sometimes.
- 4:46And I think back in those days, I was especially at skill center
- 4:51when you're trying to find. How?
- 4:54You sound you're. Yeah, you're a kid.
- 4:56It's one. Of those things where people
- 4:58are, you're 15. I was 15 and 14, you know, 16 at
- 5:01skill center. We're going to give, we're going
- 5:02to give Jam and Justin a little shout out.
- 5:04Not, not everybody at 16 sounds like a 65 towering giant like
- 5:09Justin did at 16. He and and he was very
- 5:13successful, Jam and Justin very successful, able to get to a
- 5:16major market at a young age, able to program at a major
- 5:18market at a young age. And now he's an airline pilot.
- 5:22And so like at 33, he left the business even though he'd been
- 5:25in the business for almost 20 plus years.
- 5:27But he had that natural. We've talked about Justin, yeah.
- 5:32Yeah, so I went when I look listen back to those air checks,
- 5:34I went through so many different phases, Pukey phase because
- 5:38people would try to coach me and they and.
- 5:40Same for me. And and so, and then the
- 5:42coaching just went horrifically wrong.
- 5:45So here I am just sounding even worse.
- 5:47And finally, I remember year, I was probably about 2000 because
- 5:52everybody through my entire career said slow down, slow
- 5:54down, slow down, slow down because I'm a very high energy
- 5:57guy. And about 2000 after I had
- 6:01gotten a good kick to the gut a couple times in radio, I had a
- 6:04program director that he he was new to the market.
- 6:07And he goes, goes, what's wrong with you?
- 6:09And I said, what do you mean what's wrong with me?
- 6:13And he goes, you don't sound like you when, when I'm having a
- 6:16conversation with you, you don't sound like that on the radio.
- 6:19And he goes, well, and I go and I, I said to him and said, well,
- 6:21because everybody tells me to slow down.
- 6:23He's like, yeah, he goes, that's not even, that doesn't even
- 6:25sound like you. He goes, you've got to sound
- 6:28like you, period. So when you were talking about
- 6:30the high pitch or the squeakiness or the, you know,
- 6:32any of that stuff, I, I roll with it now.
- 6:36I like. And so back in the back in the
- 6:382000s, I or early 2000s even, and it was even after you, even
- 6:43after you Michelle knowing you another radio station I ended up
- 6:46at because I remember the first day at one O 7.
- 6:51I remember the first day when everybody stood behind me and
- 6:54they go put them on good on the air.
- 6:55Let's hear. What do you what do you sound
- 6:57like? So yeah.
- 6:59And so it's like, and I think it was over, like Santana smooth
- 7:02that. Yeah, one of those songs.
- 7:03That's a long intro. Way back, way back then.
- 7:06But it's like you're instantly put on the spot.
- 7:08And I hate that each station is different.
- 7:11When you first put the headphones on, every station is
- 7:13different. Sounds how you sound.
- 7:15You have to figure out your volume on the microphone.
- 7:19And so here I had the whole cafe of him staff behind me going get
- 7:22in there. I'm like and I and I, hey, I'll
- 7:24be the first to say suck, suck city.
- 7:27And and then they're all behind me probably going this guy.
- 7:29So that's why is he my boss. So I would yeah, I was curious
- 7:34about that, that if you ever had to like find your I guess the
- 7:37question is find your voice, find who who you are.
- 7:40And then and the most amazing thing is in the early, early
- 7:432000s, once I started just talking like I talk just like
- 7:48how I am. It was amazing that when I
- 7:51started been still sending out cassettes back in the day.
- 7:54Then I started getting morning show offers, which I had never
- 7:57expect. I'd never, I had never planned
- 7:59to do mornings ever. I know that was one of the
- 8:01things that you wanted to do, but I never aspired to do
- 8:03morning radio. And so, and then I was like, why
- 8:06are all these people trying to hire me for mornings?
- 8:08And then I realized, then I realized, oh, authentic, being
- 8:12yourself. That is who I sound like, I and,
- 8:16and so I so it's like, so even from a coaching standpoint, it
- 8:21was one of those things where you just just be yourself.
- 8:24But it took me. I know I don't know how long it
- 8:26took you, but it took me. I'm going to add up the years.
- 8:29Oh, that's probably took me at least a good 15 years to figure
- 8:31that out. So I had managed.
- 8:33Oh, yeah. How did I manage to stay in
- 8:34radio for 15 years sucking? I sure did.
- 8:37I, I don't it was a different, it was a different era now.
- 8:40They needed bodies 24/7. They probably did.
- 8:43Nowadays, Michelle, they just put you on mornings.
- 8:45They didn't. They mean if you're.
- 8:46I know we've talked about this kind.
- 8:48Of influence or hey, rock on mornings, so that's not even.
- 8:52How you sound? Well, I hope that you find this
- 8:54box of cassettes. I don't ever.
- 8:57I mean, we could share some of these on the podcast, but I am
- 9:00terrified of playing that air check from 1988.
- 9:03Maybe I'll I mean if I. Could find them.
- 9:05I would play some of them. Yeah.
- 9:08I, I think for me, it took even longer to find myself.
- 9:12You know, you were talking. It probably took you 15 years.
- 9:14I think for me, it was really hard because of some of the men
- 9:18who I worked with and were my bosses.
- 9:21And so that was, really. And we've talked about them on
- 9:25past podcasts that really made it difficult for me to just even
- 9:30be comfortable to be myself and to function at the job as myself
- 9:37the way they they were tyrants and just horrible people in
- 9:40general. So.
- 9:41Now, did you have to deal with? So what's interesting about my
- 9:44career and it it has frustrated me and I will be very honest
- 9:48about it. I am definitely.
- 9:50I think I'm a classic Top 40 disc jockey in my presentation.
- 9:55Oh yeah, who like the Rick? DI am like who I am so and so
- 10:01I've constantly been shoved into and I know we've talked about
- 10:05this into country music constantly.
- 10:08So and and there and it's and it's very and it's like it's
- 10:10very judge mental because I remember that when I first came
- 10:14to the bull in in 2001, 2002 took over the station.
- 10:18I remember that big dad and even Cephas was on his side back and
- 10:21then he's like, well, what does this guy know about country
- 10:23music? And I think you are very shocked
- 10:26that I actually know quite a bit.
- 10:28Oh yeah, right. I mean, I've talked a bit about
- 10:32all genres, whether you play with.
- 10:34Them or not, but but from my presentation, you wouldn't know
- 10:37that. Like you wouldn't know that.
- 10:40And then within a couple weeks of being on the bull, they
- 10:42realize, oh, this guy. Gee, I mean, my first station
- 10:45was country and Idaho Falls. It was country.
- 10:47KMPS. I worked in Seattle, it was
- 10:48country. A lot of country radio stations
- 10:51because I as we joke, I get shoved into them.
- 10:54So I go to a market, I'm on the Top 40 station and they're like,
- 10:57oh Nope, sorry, you're going to be country.
- 11:00So, so for you format wise jumping around, not that, does
- 11:07that ever bother you that you know, you're Top 40 or you're an
- 11:09AC? I mean, I'm sure everybody said
- 11:11that you were an AC person more than they said.
- 11:13Oh yes, right, because I'm the opposite of you.
- 11:16I'm the soft sell, slow speaking part of the duo.
- 11:20That's why the copper. Works.
- 11:22That's why the. Copper works.
- 11:24I was always speed up where you're always told slow down.
- 11:28I was told speed up, speed up, speed up.
- 11:31I think now that we're old as. Long as I was in mornings, for
- 11:34me, it didn't really matter the genre as long as it was
- 11:37mornings. But yeah, if I had to do middays
- 11:40or anything like that, yeah, I definitely was told like speed
- 11:44up. I even I I which going through
- 11:47stuff, I still have some of the critiques from Chris Kelly, from
- 11:51Chris Kelly, my boss at KX Double D when I was doing part
- 11:54time. I have some of those critiques
- 11:57on the little yellow legal tag I was reading like Oh my.
- 12:02God, so I've got a few of those from Seattle, so I'm more than
- 12:05willing to sometimes we should share those.
- 12:06It's hilarious because yeah, yeah, you'll be.
- 12:09Yeah, all the advice. So.
- 12:10So anyway, hopefully you find your air checks.
- 12:13I would love to in the future if you do.
- 12:15Let's let's play a couple for people if we can figure out how
- 12:18to work and get some up there because I think would laugh.
- 12:21I think it's more definitely. I think it's more comedic and we
- 12:25would. Cringe and they would laugh.
- 12:26And I will tell you before we get off, you know, move on.
- 12:30What really, this is gonna shock you in terms of my own
- 12:33personality and really finding my voice.
- 12:35I did it at a rock station at Xeroc 96.5 in Lewiston, ID
- 12:41because they hired, they hired me and I had gotten blown out of
- 12:44a I had gotten blown out of a PD job and I was desperate for a
- 12:47job and they hired me for weekends.
- 12:50Minimum wage, minimum wage. This is after you and I met
- 12:53after Seattle. I mean, and so they hired me and
- 12:56I did a couple weekends and the owner came to me and he goes,
- 13:00yeah, here's what we're going to do.
- 13:01And I said, what? And I, I was like, oh shit, I'm
- 13:03getting fired off the rock station because Metallica and
- 13:07Tool and Rammstein and 9 Inch Nails.
- 13:10I mean, come on. Because that doesn't sound like
- 13:11my my flavor. But he goes, yeah, he goes,
- 13:14you'd be great. He goes, you'd be great in
- 13:15afternoon drive. And so he and I said, I said
- 13:18dude. And I did.
- 13:19I said, I told the owner. I said, dude, I'm a Top 40 disc
- 13:21jockey. Goes yeah, he goes, you are.
- 13:23And I think that's going to really shake things up a little
- 13:25bit. So so I did I and he goes and
- 13:28he, and this is the best advice I ever got from friend, his name
- 13:31was Mike Ripley. Best advice.
- 13:32He goes, I don't want you to care about the programming.
- 13:35I don't want you to care about the songs we're playing.
- 13:36I don't want you to care about the imaging.
- 13:38I want you to come in for four hours a day and do a show, Do a
- 13:41show. I want to hear phoners.
- 13:45I want to hear personality. And he goes, I want you to come
- 13:47in at 2 and I want you to leave at 7.
- 13:49And that's it. That's your day.
- 13:52So yeah, so. So for that 10 months, that 10
- 13:55months, I just went in every single day and I got to say ass
- 13:59and damn on the radio when Logan.
- 14:00I was going to say a Top 40, I mean.
- 14:04Well, nowadays you probably. Would be, yeah, but.
- 14:06Right, but it was so funny was, Logan hears air check.
- 14:09And I'm like, I'm like, I'm like Xerox dot E65, the new one for
- 14:13Mötley Crüe. You know, man, my ass hurts
- 14:15after playing that or something. He's like, what?
- 14:17He goes, Dad, what's going, you know, something like that.
- 14:20Like you said, it was funny. I had gotten a vasectomy during
- 14:23during the time I was at Xerox. So that made it funny.
- 14:27You know, those are things you could talk.
- 14:29About that stuff you could talk about on a rock station where
- 14:31you could not. Yeah, I mean, you could, but you
- 14:35know. Yeah.
- 14:36So when I do country, when I get tough, it's totally different in
- 14:39terms of that presentation, right.
- 14:41And so it really opened me up, I guess as a, I'm not, I'm not
- 14:45saying I'm a personality by any means, but it, it opened it up.
- 14:47And so then I was there for 10 months and I started sitting in
- 14:50my my tapes out and that's when everybody started calling me to
- 14:52do mornings. And that's how I ended up doing
- 14:54mornings. I was not planning ever to do
- 14:55mornings. And people were like, oh, you
- 14:57should be. You're, you're a more.
- 14:58And then, and then the best compliment I ever got was from
- 15:01Jay Albright. And she goes, you're the
- 15:03quintessential morning person that for me, I cannot tell you
- 15:08that for me after all those years of being told to shut,
- 15:12slow down, you're never going to make it all.
- 15:15The list goes on. And I'll even down the road,
- 15:17we'll share all this stuff with you guys.
- 15:19Prefer to say, yeah, man, you, you are, you are a morning guy.
- 15:22You're a quintessential morning guy.
- 15:23So that was the best compliment. So I'm looking forward to
- 15:26Michelle, you digging up the air checks.
- 15:28That's going to be a fun. That'll be a fun SO.
- 15:30Far I can't find any SO. Yeah, and I'll get, I'll get.
- 15:33I even have some Zeroc ones. I'm a little puky because I'm a,
- 15:37you know, a little puky. But it's, it's, it's still fun
- 15:40to listen to it. But you hear but you hear those
- 15:43moments of like, oh, there I am. You know, you hear when you
- 15:47hear. And I'm sure when we get your
- 15:48air checks out, we'll hear those moments of, oh, there's
- 15:50Michelle, there's, there's Michelle's real personality.
- 15:53Right, right. Yeah, yeah, the 10 back to Q1KX
- 15:58double D12 in a row. That's why, yeah.
- 16:01Well, and back in the day, you were consulted pretty heavily.
- 16:03So that meant liner cards. And I don't know if we talked
- 16:06about liner cards, but liner cards were.
- 16:09Literally definitions like podcasts.
- 16:12I mean, yeah. Or radio definition.
- 16:14Yeah, so, but but when you were on there, you'd have, you know,
- 16:16you'd be like, hey, it's Michelle and here's another ten
- 16:18in a row on KXD hot cunt. I mean, you have all this crap
- 16:21you had to say before you ever got into the personality part
- 16:24of. It yeah, but yeah, you had yeah,
- 16:26you had like 2 sentences you had to say before anything, so yeah.
- 16:29Right. And nowadays with PPM, they
- 16:31don't do any of that. You just start with the, you
- 16:34know, hey, did you hear what Kim Kardashian did today?
- 16:36That's you start with that you, then you go right into it.
- 16:39Which is weird to me, which is why, like, for us, I have to
- 16:42start out. Welcome to Rick and Matt.
- 16:43Michelle, you know. Instead of instead of well,
- 16:47we're going to talk about sex toys today.
- 16:49What? What's coming up?
- 16:52OK, let's that's coming up. But let's so we talked about the
- 16:56sad news from storage. Let's talk about the happy news.
- 16:59So in Jay going through some of his stuff, he found some comic
- 17:04books. Look at that, I recognize this.
- 17:07Yeah, that he would. He would like you to have.
- 17:11There's only like I think. That, well, I recognize that
- 17:14Jimmy Olsen, that's Superman's pal.
- 17:16Jimmy Olsen. I can't tell what the number is
- 17:17where I'm sitting, but that's definitely.
- 17:20Where's the number at? It should be on the cover
- 17:23number. 124. Yeah, 120.
- 17:25Four. I mean, that's a lot.
- 17:26What's that? I mean some of them aren't in
- 17:28like grade. No, I love it.
- 17:29Oh night. And the best, Those are the
- 17:31best. Yeah.
- 17:33Oh, yeah. Look at that Avengers Marvel
- 17:34triple action. I, I, I recognize it when you
- 17:37pop it up there. OK, well I don't know what the
- 17:39hell any of them are so. Well, the cool thing about OK,
- 17:42so the cool thing about those. I'll send them.
- 17:44Oh, that's so sweet. The cool thing about those is
- 17:46actually I framed those ones, those reader copies, and put
- 17:49them on my wall because they look.
- 17:50Because remember I told you I was jealous of my friend Kurt.
- 17:53Great. So, so it's like, yeah, it's
- 17:55cool. Any any comic book to me is
- 17:58awesome because it has it has it has a history.
- 18:01Right, well, I will trade you these for an autographed copy of
- 18:04your book. Oh, OK, awesome.
- 18:07Yeah. OK, fair trade.
- 18:08And a bad air check. Yeah, I mean, maybe if I can
- 18:13find mine, even if I find. You I'm giving you a bad air
- 18:16check. I'm.
- 18:16Giving you I might be like, I don't know, maybe.
- 18:20Now I will tell you this, The funny thing about these
- 18:22airchecks, so I do have a couple that I was asked two years ago,
- 18:26so Central Washington, they would host a by Hubbard Radio,
- 18:30would host a radio seminar for a couple days for for kids, for
- 18:35college students. And so the cool thing about it,
- 18:37I did it for a couple years. They don't do it now, but I got
- 18:41to go in and teach a class. So I got invited to teach a
- 18:44class. And so the cool thing is I'm
- 18:46with Fitz, you know, Fitz and and Brooke and Drubal came.
- 18:51So it was, it was really quite the honor to be this the only
- 18:55small market guy that was all on this panel about radio.
- 19:00And so I brought, so I brought in those shitty air checks to
- 19:04show to the kids, to the college students, like, hey, here's some
- 19:06shit. Right, this is where you start.
- 19:09This is where you, yeah, this is where you start.
- 19:12And so I've got some of those that we can share down the road.
- 19:15OK, Yeah, I'm sure you might have some of us together doing
- 19:18mornings too. I'm.
- 19:19Sure I do. I don't have a you know, Megan
- 19:21got rid of a bunch, but I think I've got I do.
- 19:23Oh, I do have a bull air check. It's one of my faves.
- 19:26I actually do. I do have a bull.
- 19:28Air check. No, that's a good one.
- 19:29OK, OK, what? Do you think off the top of my
- 19:32head, I cannot call, I cannot recall the bit we're doing, but
- 19:35it's a really good bit and it's a good air check.
- 19:37It's a really, it's a really good air check.
- 19:39OK, OK, That must have been the one you sent to Becky the
- 19:42consultant. Just kidding.
- 19:45Probably. Probably.
- 19:46OK. So, OK, let's move on this
- 19:49question. OK, If you're listening and you
- 19:52have kids within earshot, you might want to boot them out of
- 19:55the room for this question, which I'm going to have to mark
- 19:58us explicit this question coming up so.
- 20:01But First off, I'll lead into the story.
- 20:03So we are planning out our will. You know, what we want for a
- 20:07funeral, which we want a celebration of life.
- 20:10You know, you playing out like if you want songs, what songs do
- 20:13you want? Who you would want to speak?
- 20:15Oh my. God.
- 20:17So that our kids don't have to figure that stuff out, that kind
- 20:21of thing. It's all planned out for them.
- 20:24Basically. They don't have to figure, they
- 20:26don't have to go, well, what would mom want?
- 20:28You're not in a great frame of mind after somebody has just
- 20:31died unexpectedly. And so we're just trying to
- 20:34alleviate them having to deal with all that stuff.
- 20:37But in planning the the will and the stuff that you put down,
- 20:43like who gets what, for some reason this popped into my mind.
- 20:48But I was thinking what what, what do you do with your sex
- 20:53toys? Like, how do you keep your kids?
- 20:57Let's say you say you die, say both, say both Jay and I die in
- 21:01in a plane crash, car accident, whatever, right?
- 21:04Like we're both, It's not that like he could dispose of them.
- 21:08We're both gone. So what?
- 21:10How do you keep your kids from finding your sex toys?
- 21:13Or some people might have pictures.
- 21:15Some people might have sex tapes like Tommy and Pam Anderson.
- 21:20How do you? See them I mean, I guess if you
- 21:23get one of those crazy videos, I'm sure it's in a vault or in a
- 21:25a safe somewhere too, which got still didn't didn't help Pamela
- 21:28and Tom, like you said, Pam and Tommy, they still stole it.
- 21:31So OK, I guess my first question I well did.
- 21:37Do your kids even know you have any of these things or not?
- 21:40No. OK.
- 21:41All right. I mean, we've talked like we
- 21:43talk about sex and like they know, like their dad and I have
- 21:46sex. It's not like this.
- 21:48Like they don't. Want to think about it being mom
- 21:50and dad so. Exactly like you don't want to
- 21:52roll up on your mom's vibrator in the drawer, right?
- 21:56Like that's in my mind, like that's what I'm picturing
- 21:59happening for them. And so I'm trying to figure out,
- 22:03OK, how do I make it so that if we do die, they don't find these
- 22:11things. But yeah, I still have them in
- 22:13my house. Like, I mean, what, what are the
- 22:15options? The only thing I could think of
- 22:18is to put them in like a lock box, you know, like the fire
- 22:21safety looking ones and tell them like, look, if you open
- 22:25this box, you're going to see things or find things, yes, that
- 22:32you are not going to ever want to see again.
- 22:34Because if you just tell them, hey, don't, don't ever open this
- 22:38box, right? Well, curiosity's gonna kill the
- 22:40cat and when we die, they're gonna open this box and you want
- 22:44to scratch their eyeballs out is what is going to happen.
- 22:47So that is the only thing I can think of.
- 22:49Yeah. I mean, it's kind of.
- 22:50Fun unless you have a better. We have, we have like a tote box
- 22:55that that's up, that's up in the cupboard.
- 22:57I mean, it's up in the rafters of the closet.
- 23:01You know what the I'm going to tell you a funny story because
- 23:04you know me, I always got a good story, right?
- 23:06The hilarity. The hilarity for me is, is it,
- 23:10is it a boa feather? What's the boa feather or
- 23:12whatever? There's a boa feather that
- 23:14sticks out. Oh, it does.
- 23:17So, so so if you just want. Pull this no.
- 23:20No, it's just hilarious. So if you walk into our closet,
- 23:22you're just looking at our closet, you know, and way up,
- 23:24way up in the corner, there's a there's the box up there.
- 23:27You know, I'm saying it's a tote, right?
- 23:28But you see this like 1 boa feather, black boa feather
- 23:31that's hanging out. Makes me laugh when I look up
- 23:34there because the two boys, I don't think at well, number one,
- 23:39I don't think they've, they've I mean, I don't know, like you
- 23:43said, it's it, I think it depends on where you keep it.
- 23:45If you keep it in the bedside drawer, right.
- 23:48But that, but I laughed, but I've laughed.
- 23:52I laughed because I've seen some, some Facebook memes where
- 23:56there's this couple like, Oh, she is the love of my life.
- 23:58And then there's like anal cream that they didn't know.
- 24:01No, that is sitting over there in the corner.
- 24:03You know, I'm saying you know, and it's like 2 bubbles or a
- 24:06Bubba and a you know, and they're they're in the they're
- 24:09in the manufactured home. That's probably one of the
- 24:10funniest memes I've ever seen with Raised Live trap.
- 24:12Treat the love of my life. And then?
- 24:15Then I'm like what the hell is behind him?
- 24:17Looks like some. Well.
- 24:20So I think, I think, I think I mean, that's up to what?
- 24:23Well, it depends. I mean, if you've got the heavy
- 24:25duty tools, I guess you're going to have to lock, block, lock,
- 24:28you know, just depends on what you got.
- 24:32Are your kids smart enough to know what you what it is?
- 24:35Yes, yes, they would. Definitely.
- 24:37So if they found it, they'd be like, I know like they would.
- 24:40They would not be. They're not, they're not.
- 24:42Little kids going well, What's this?
- 24:44No, I mean Matthew's what, 28, you know, they're and Shaylee's
- 24:4819. They're still little kids, which
- 24:52I OK, probably this is what is going through my mind, OK?
- 24:56Because I was traumatized by opening the bedside door.
- 25:01Bedside drawer of near my mom's bed.
- 25:04Yes. No, it was when my parents were
- 25:05divorced and I don't remember what I was looking for exactly.
- 25:10Where's my pencil? I want to stab my eyes.
- 25:12Out don't remember what I was looking for why I was even like
- 25:16in my mom's room. I was probably snooping.
- 25:19This is probably what it was. I was probably snooping.
- 25:21I was probably hoping to find like a birth certificate that
- 25:24said like these were not my parents.
- 25:26I I don't know what I was doing, but I opened the drawer and yes
- 25:30there is purple vibrator like sitting right there like it
- 25:35wasn't in a case, it wasn't in anything.
- 25:39It's. Right.
- 25:41There new person to go through her stuff.
- 25:42Exactly and I. How old were you?
- 25:46I was probably a teenager. OK, so, so did you know like
- 25:50like you go, Oh, I know what? I knew what it was.
- 25:53Oh definitely. I knew what it was and I was.
- 25:55Like some little kids, some little kid will find them.
- 25:57Don't know what it is You. Know you know Well, no, I didn't
- 26:00find it was running around the house I was.
- 26:01Gonna say it'd be funny if the dog had, if the dog had in the
- 26:03mouth running around like what the heck's going on here, you
- 26:06know so. No.
- 26:07So that's probably part of it. Probably because I was
- 26:10traumatized from finding my mom's, which is my own fault
- 26:14because I was snooping. But I don't want my kids to just
- 26:17accidentally find it or find it afterward dead and go.
- 26:22Hang on, I have to make a provision now in my will.
- 26:24Hang on. I got to make a Got to make a
- 26:26note here. Got to make a little note
- 26:28because I, you know, it's like I don't.
- 26:32I Yeah, Well, I, I always like the fact that Megan's nine years
- 26:35younger, so the, you know, the odds of me dying first are
- 26:38pretty. Strong.
- 26:39Yes, Yes. So.
- 26:42Yeah, but there's always the chance that you both go at the
- 26:44same time, so. Oh, and I'm sure, and I'm sure
- 26:47that to plan for everything they'd like.
- 26:50Gross. Yeah, I'm just trying to plan
- 26:54for everything and keep my kids from being traumatized.
- 26:57I'm just. OK, so.
- 26:59Again, I don't even know why this popped into my head when I
- 27:01was thinking. Lock it up.
- 27:03Lock it up, Put a QR code on it. No, because they're gonna,
- 27:09they're gonna scan it. And the only other thing.
- 27:12And then they'll be like open that.
- 27:13Then they'll be like open that shit up.
- 27:14But so they'd be like. There's a treasure in there,
- 27:17the. QR code that, the QR code that
- 27:19thing and go what? And I know you'd pick a.
- 27:22Picture because if you when you QR code it, it brings up what it
- 27:26is on the picture of, like what's in the container.
- 27:30I think the curiosity would get somebody if IQR code something
- 27:32and it said sex toys. I'm like, oh, look on.
- 27:34QR. Code.
- 27:35Let's see how freaky deaky. Let's see how freaky deaky these
- 27:38folks are. The only other thing I could
- 27:41think of is you find like someone you trust like who's
- 27:45like your right or die best friend and be like, hey, if I
- 27:49die right, you need to get in my house and.
- 27:52Get the toys. You need to look here, here in
- 27:55here. That's so funny.
- 27:57And get rid of this stuff. But then again, like the best
- 28:01friend might look and be like, oh, OK, I'm going to look at
- 28:03this stuff right, like. Yeah.
- 28:06I don't have any contingency plan right now.
- 28:08But now, now that you've brought it up, yeah, I'm looking, I am.
- 28:11Better get better, better get that contingency plan plan
- 28:13going. That's right.
- 28:14So if anybody else has better suggestions or ideas I would I
- 28:20would appreciate you. I always joke.
- 28:21I don't know about you, Michelle.
- 28:22I'm married, so there's dust on. You know that that box was that
- 28:26box was awesome during the courtship.
- 28:28But once, once I tied tied her down.
- 28:31Roped her off. It's like now it's just got dust
- 28:33on. It so no, you actually think
- 28:35thing, you know, you got to keep things.
- 28:38I know, got to keep it zesty, I get it.
- 28:39Great. That's great.
- 28:40OK, OK, now that I've scarred everyone who listens to this
- 28:45podcast. All right, all right, kids, take
- 28:47off your take, you know? You know, open up your ears.
- 28:48Again right, you can unplug your ears now I we have to talk about
- 28:52this mom who cyber bullied her daughter.
- 28:56I don't know if you've heard. Anything about this set this up
- 28:59for me so I get an. Understanding OK, so I have not
- 29:02seen the new documentary on Netflix.
- 29:06I know it is called unknown number The high school catfish.
- 29:09It's a big. Cat.
- 29:12But I do know. So yes, the unknown number, the
- 29:15high school catfish. Yep, I'm looking at it right
- 29:18now. OK so anyway, I haven't watched
- 29:23it but I did see a clip of the mom where she is comparing what
- 29:28she did and she actually went to jail but she's comparing it to
- 29:33like, oh you know if you drive drunk and you don't get caught,
- 29:39you're not breaking the law. What?
- 29:42Yes she doesn't in this little clip that I saw, which again,
- 29:46it's just a clip, there might be more, but she did not seem
- 29:51remorseful or anything. I was completely shocked just by
- 29:57her. Just a lack of any type of
- 30:00emotion, empathy, nothing. So this cyber bullying took
- 30:05place over 2 years and she sent her daughter some horrible text
- 30:09messages like you should kill yourself telling her to commit
- 30:13suicide. And as a parent I like what I'm
- 30:17thinking. Okay, I try everything to make
- 30:20sure my kids did not get bullied or if they did like please come
- 30:25to me I will go beats all kids ass on the playground.
- 30:28You know, like I tried everything as a parent to make
- 30:31sure my kids didn't get bullied because I was.
- 30:35And so to hear this mom like telling her kid, oh, you should
- 30:38commit suicide in a text message.
- 30:41I was horrified as a parent. How do you, how could you
- 30:46consciously do that? Because as parents, we're always
- 30:51trying to shield our kids from any type of pain.
- 30:53And here you are. You're the parent, and you're
- 30:56inflicting that pain on your own.
- 30:59Your own child. Well, that's a I mean, I think
- 31:02the day that at the end of the day, that's an evil person.
- 31:04I just noticed that that she she still wants to have a
- 31:08relationship with her daughter. I'd be like the F you will.
- 31:12Yeah, there's no, but I did read so this, this once I read this,
- 31:16it was like, oh, that makes sense.
- 31:18I read that someone said that this mom is similar to like a
- 31:24Munchausen by proxy. You know, the like Gypsy Rose's
- 31:27mom, you know, who pretended like she was sick when she
- 31:30wasn't to get attention. But yes, but they said like,
- 31:34this is digital Munchausen by proxy.
- 31:40And I thought, oh, yeah, OK, that makes sense.
- 31:42I mean, not saying it's OK, I'm just saying like, oh, OK, like,
- 31:46yeah, we've moved into this new era because we have social media
- 31:52and phones and all that kind of stuff.
- 31:55And now it's more like this digital Munchausen by proxy.
- 32:00So yeah, I was horrified by this whole thing.
- 32:03I'm of course I'll watch the Netflix documentary because I
- 32:06can't, not now, so. Well, yeah, and and it happened
- 32:10to the girl and the and the boyfriend, so they they both
- 32:13yeah, and but. What about your age, child?
- 32:18Yeah, but but why would you do that?
- 32:20I, I, I something, it makes no sense to me.
- 32:23Like none at all. Like even for attention it
- 32:28doesn't make any sense. Or yeah, I don't know, but.
- 32:32Well, you and I, I mean, you and I talk a lot about this sad
- 32:36reality of this world, you know? It is.
- 32:39Some people shouldn't have some. Some people are just, I mean,
- 32:42some people are just evil. Some people are just evil.
- 32:44And some people, you and I both we, we see horrific stories out
- 32:49of California. The one where the family had had
- 32:51all six kids tied up in the basement and they could only,
- 32:55they could only, you know, go to stay at they got united to go to
- 32:57school. And I mean this, the, this, the
- 32:59list goes on and on. And, and they're, these people
- 33:02exist and it, and it even goes a step further with animal cruelty
- 33:06and different things like that. It takes, it takes a special
- 33:10kind of person to want to hurt animals and to hurt people.
- 33:13And there are sociopaths in this world that you have no idea, you
- 33:18know, And, and it was funny, Patty, Patty on who does the
- 33:20morning chores. We always talk about whenever we
- 33:22do a segment of some crazy story like that, we're always like,
- 33:25you don't know. And even though you say, well, I
- 33:28know Michelle, I know Michelle. Oh, I know Rick.
- 33:31I know Rick. You don't.
- 33:33Rick would never do. That right, you don't, I mean,
- 33:36isn't that, isn't that the sad reality of the world is even
- 33:39when you without a shadow of a doubt, because when something
- 33:42happens to someone that you're like what?
- 33:45And. Or you see the serial killer guy
- 33:48got caught and the neighbors are like it was the nicest nicest.
- 33:51Person on the planet. I would never have suspected.
- 33:54All the all these different, all these different things that, but
- 33:59it, it's sad that there's such evil in the world.
- 34:02And especially to do it to your own child.
- 34:05Yeah. I, I don't, I don't, I don't get
- 34:07that. I don't understand that.
- 34:10And it messes, it messes a kid up.
- 34:12It messes a kid up. Yeah.
- 34:13And, and I've talked about this a million times and I'll
- 34:16continue to always, I will always continue to say this.
- 34:19And I say it again like I always do, you don't have to forgive
- 34:23anything to anybody for what was done to you.
- 34:26So I am I, I'm sorry, I, that's not a Rick rant.
- 34:29Nope, not going to get a Rick rant, but I we haven't.
- 34:31Talked about a Rick rant or explain what it is?
- 34:34Yeah, I don't think we've talked about a Rick.
- 34:35Rant. But I get sick.
- 34:37I get sick of people who think you have to forgive somebody.
- 34:41So let's say you, let's say you, let's say you murder my son
- 34:44Logan. You murder my kid, you know,
- 34:47there is no place #1 on the planet that will hide you
- 34:50because I will find you. You know, you want take in real
- 34:53life. Yeah, I will find you.
- 34:56So it's like, and I always hate when people say, oh, you got to,
- 34:59you got to forgive. You got to forgive.
- 35:01No, you don't. No, you don't.
- 35:02No, you don't, No. So when I see.
- 35:04Yeah, or their reasoning is you have to forgive because it will
- 35:07eat you up inside. Good.
- 35:09And it's like, fine, it's like I'm right inside.
- 35:12I don't care. Exactly this.
- 35:14This. That's the whole point of
- 35:15Batman. You know what I'm saying?
- 35:16Batman, It doesn't, it doesn't matter.
- 35:19You know, I'm going to beat the living Jeepers out of you
- 35:22because because that's how I, that's how I cope.
- 35:25And I've never, gosh, I've always, I've always hated people
- 35:28who oh, get over it. Just we'll just get over it.
- 35:31Got to move on. Got to move on.
- 35:33No, that fuels my anger, that fuels my drive.
- 35:36And and so when I see these stories, when that at the end, I
- 35:40was just reading a little bit about it while we were talking
- 35:42and it was like, oh, she still wants to be friends with her
- 35:44daughter. If I was a daughter, I'd be
- 35:45like, yeah, no, sit, spin, sorry about that.
- 35:49Are we still in? Are we still in explicit mode?
- 35:52I mean, we will be for this entire episode.
- 35:54Sorry I. Can't just on and off it.
- 35:57I do Margaret for the entire episode, right?
- 36:00That's not how they are on the radio.
- 36:02What's wrong with them? So yeah, I mean, so don't worry
- 36:07those. Stories are those stories are
- 36:08insane. But but, but I will go back to
- 36:10this before we tie it off. I know people are not going to
- 36:14want to hear this, but at the heart of it all, we are very
- 36:17selfish. Mostly most people are selfish.
- 36:22It's it's what benefits me. And so when you do come across
- 36:26somebody who is unselfish, they are truly the most amazing
- 36:29people you ever run into. Yes, because and, and most
- 36:32people that I have discovered that are unselfish are
- 36:35horrifically abused and taken and taken advantage of because
- 36:39of their wonderful hearts. And there are people that exist
- 36:42out there. So I always have, yeah, I always
- 36:45have hope for mankind. But at the heart of it, I really
- 36:48believe that most people are selfish and will do whatever
- 36:51they can for their own, for their own gain.
- 36:56So, yeah, that's that's I see stories like that and it's
- 36:58disgusting. I don't, I just, I just don't
- 37:00understand. And then, you know, little slap
- 37:03on the wrist and they're out. What I you know how I feel about
- 37:05those kind of things, but why your own kid that?
- 37:09That's what blew my mind. OK, Like, yeah, you're still a
- 37:12horrible person if you cyberbully, that's a different
- 37:16kid, but your own child you are telling to commit suicide.
- 37:22Like what would have happened if she would have actually gone
- 37:25through with it or something? Like it's, it's crazy to me.
- 37:28Crazy, but like but like you said, she the when when you're
- 37:32like that, it's amazing how they just justify it.
- 37:36Right. Or don't think about.
- 37:37They don't, they don't think about, they don't think about
- 37:39it. They, they, they just in their,
- 37:40in their head, they, you know, they're, they're already sick in
- 37:44the head, they're already broken.
- 37:46And, and again, that we will not talk about it today.
- 37:49But that goes back to, like you said, the right to choose.
- 37:55Yeah, the right to choose. Not everybody's equipped to be a
- 37:57parent. Again, that double edged sword
- 37:59of of social media or cell phones or smartphones is you're
- 38:03able to do these things anonymously, whereas you could,
- 38:07you know, you used to have to take a newspaper and cut it all
- 38:11up and send a letter. Yeah, piece together, right?
- 38:14Piece it together or maybe they won't discover who I am.
- 38:16But nowadays it's like that, that it just, it happens all.
- 38:20It happens way too much. Yep Yep.
- 38:23And the Charlie Sheen documentary will be out.
- 38:27I am super excited to watch this.
- 38:29I loved Charlie as a teenager so this totally tracks because he's
- 38:34a bad boy. Totally, totally some some point
- 38:38for me so. I, I saw an interview, CBS This
- 38:41Morning did a great interview and they asked about the tiger
- 38:44blood and the winning and Charlie Sheen looked over and
- 38:46goes, goes, I don't know that person.
- 38:48I don't know who that and he goes, I don't know who that
- 38:50person was. And I thought it was, I thought
- 38:51it was very telling #1 as you already know, I do believe
- 38:56people get second chances and I think people can change.
- 38:59And so and I and I think when he reflects.
- 39:01It doesn't mean you have to forget those.
- 39:04People, right, but I think when you look back at your own, you
- 39:06know, when he looked back, he was like, you know, he was so
- 39:09coked out and drugged out and Can you imagine?
- 39:12I mean, and, and again, you and I can't fathom the kind of
- 39:16wealth that someone like that has Great.
- 39:21And so and so it it again, it's that double edged sword where
- 39:25it's like if you're poor, you know you're homeless when you're
- 39:28that way. And if you're real beyond, then
- 39:31you're eccentric. Yeah, and you get to the best
- 39:35rehabs in the country. So, well, interesting enough,
- 39:38his his his brother Emilio Estevez and Martin Sheehan.
- 39:43The dad does not want to. They're not in the book.
- 39:44They're not. I mean, they're not involved,
- 39:46but. They're not in the documentary.
- 39:47No, they, they refuse to to be interviewed.
- 39:50So it's it's yeah, it's interesting.
- 39:53So. Well, I'll be watching.
- 39:55And amazing. And, and again, we talk about an
- 39:57amazing career and family and all that.
- 40:00I I love the Sheens, I love the Estevezes.
- 40:02I love all that. I love those guys, you know,
- 40:04Yeah. So.
- 40:05But yeah, I don't think we, I don't think you ever saw anybody
- 40:09implode like Charlie Sheen. I mean, I'm sure there have
- 40:13been. I can't think of any off the top
- 40:15of my head, but yeah, he did like he.
- 40:16Dated my favorite porn actress. But I mean, so I was, you know,
- 40:21so Brie Olsen. Brie Olsen.
- 40:23No, I remember, I remember when he was going through the whole
- 40:25meltdown and he's like, oh, here's my, here's my 2 angels
- 40:28living with me. And one of them was a porn
- 40:31actress named Brie Olsen. I said, oh, she's cute.
- 40:34And then you looked her up. You're like, of course I did
- 40:36this girl. Of course I did you.
- 40:38Better you better make sure that your kids don't find those
- 40:41movies. No, no, I mean, yeah, go, yeah.
- 40:44But I yeah, I don't know. For me, it's like, so when
- 40:49you're when to be attracted to somebody, funny thing is, there
- 40:52are unique things about people that make them attractive to
- 40:56you, right? And so, so this, this actress
- 41:00was her nose. I was like, she's got a cute
- 41:02nose. I don't know why it would mean.
- 41:03I know you're thinking he's looking at other things And no,
- 41:06I wasn't. I know, I know.
- 41:08No, I know we're looking. At yeah, she's got a cute a cute
- 41:11nose so it was just yeah so I mean I did go look at the rest
- 41:15of it too, but. I'm sure you did.
- 41:18Yeah, yes, it's gonna be a fun documentary to watch.
- 41:20I'm super excited. Okay, you have the story about
- 41:24the baseball Karen. What are they calling her again?
- 41:27I think it's Philly, Karen. So yeah.
- 41:31So you know more about this than I do.
- 41:32Well, I was researching a little bit about it.
- 41:34I mean, it means it's all over. You already know it's all over
- 41:39I. Had the volume down on the TV.
- 41:41When I saw this story, I just kind of pieced it all together
- 41:44that this. Well, basic basically.
- 41:46Karen looking. Yeah.
- 41:48Basically I thought she took the ball from the kid at the game.
- 41:52No, she did not take the ball, but so it fell near her.
- 41:57So it so there's a home run ball.
- 41:59It fell near her feet. She reached down and a dad
- 42:02picked it up and gave it to a gave it to a son.
- 42:05OK. And so she thinks it should have
- 42:07been hurt. Yes, and she and then she went
- 42:08over and berated the dad and the little kids right there.
- 42:11See if you see the photos like, Oh my gosh.
- 42:12And then so she's literally well, she does a Rick well, and
- 42:15I would I would not do a Rick rant over it to the ball, but
- 42:17she did a rant, A rant over it and hence the reason they're
- 42:20calling her Philly Karen. And then he and the little boy
- 42:23ended up getting to go, you know, get to go back and meet
- 42:26the player and get a bat sign and all these, you know, they
- 42:28they resolved it. And then she still, she still
- 42:32wants the ball. What?
- 42:35Yeah. So that's the craziness is she
- 42:37still thinks it's her, thinks it's her ball, but.
- 42:39Oh my. Gosh, but normal people.
- 42:42I love watching videos where normal people are a baseball
- 42:45game. It's a home run.
- 42:46It lands in their lap and they turn around and give it to a
- 42:48kid. Yes.
- 42:50That's that's. That's who you should give it
- 42:52to. That's a normal person, but
- 42:54we're going back to the original thing I talked about being
- 42:56selfish. Yes, which I have a story about
- 42:59baseball. Benjamin.
- 43:01We took Matthew and Benjamin to their very first Seattle
- 43:04Mariners game. I was like 8 months pregnant
- 43:07with Jackson. We were right on the 3rd
- 43:09baseline, like second row in. So I had a truck down all these
- 43:13stairs like pregnant and when I had to use the bathroom I had a
- 43:16truck back up. But it was so worth it.
- 43:19They were playing the Texas Rangers and we got there early
- 43:22because it was Brett Boone T-shirt night and I had heard,
- 43:26you know, oh, you got to get there early in order to get your
- 43:29T-shirts. So they got their T-shirts.
- 43:31We were there probably 2 hours early.
- 43:33So we're sitting there, you get to watch them practice, which is
- 43:37a good thing. We got there early because the
- 43:39boys got to watch them practice. And you know how all the kids,
- 43:43like, line up right along the the wall there and yell at the
- 43:47players or whatever? Well, Matthew and Benjamin are
- 43:50just sitting there eating their hot dogs.
- 43:52I told them you don't be bought. They're trying to practice.
- 43:54Don't be bothering them. And one of the Texas Rangers
- 43:57players, a ball comes, you know, near in the dirt, right?
- 44:02Kind of near where we're sitting.
- 44:04And he picks it up and of course, all the kids are like
- 44:06me, me, me. And he points to Benjamin and he
- 44:10goes, no, I'm going to give it to him.
- 44:13And he throws it. Luckily, Jay caught it because
- 44:15Benjamin was just sitting there like, what the Hell's going on?
- 44:19Right? So, yeah.
- 44:20And from that point on, Benjamin was a Texas Ranger fan.
- 44:24In our household. We had a Texas Ranger fan and a
- 44:27Mariners fan. Well, all of us are Mariners fan
- 44:29except for him. And from that moment on, like,
- 44:33he loved the Texas Rangers and he's always loved baseball, but.
- 44:38That's a moment, though, that. We still have this ball, right?
- 44:41We still have this ball. I can't imagine someone who
- 44:44would, have, you know, tried to grab that ball.
- 44:46Away from me, kind of what happened basically, yeah, that's
- 44:49kind of sort of what happened exactly.
- 44:50He's like. Yeah.
- 44:52At the, at the end, I mean, again, at the end of the day,
- 44:55yeah. And now she's, and now she lost
- 44:57her job and she's been ridic. I mean, they, they there was a
- 45:00there was a meme today where she had, there was a meme today
- 45:03where she had a Frisbee in her mouth where air Bud was jumping
- 45:05for it. And she had a frisbee in the
- 45:06mouth and said she's she's so cruel that she she kept air Bud
- 45:10from catching a Frisbee. I mean, I don't know about
- 45:13people losing their, I mean, you know, people don't necessarily
- 45:17need to lose their jobs over stuff.
- 45:19It depends on what her job is too.
- 45:22If she's working with kids, as just said, if she works with
- 45:26kids, yeah, she should probably not have a job.
- 45:29But she works in an office or something like that.
- 45:33I mean, I don't know, you just got, I, I understand it's the
- 45:36heat of the moment, but you just got to be, we just have to be,
- 45:39you know, kinder people to each other.
- 45:41But again, it all comes down to I think what's really changed in
- 45:45society is a lot of entitlements.
- 45:49Oh, definitely. That that, that people.
- 45:51Just that they that they just feel the nice thing about
- 45:54Benjamin's memory. That's not a that's not a memory
- 45:57of entitlement. That was a genuine have a coke
- 46:01and a smile memory or big Gene Green throws the the jersey at
- 46:07the kid like great, great game. And he's like, yeah, kid throws
- 46:11in the jury, remember? That TV and the player had, he
- 46:16had on a jacket, so we couldn't see who the player was right
- 46:19from the Texas Rangers. And I even tried looking, you
- 46:23know, matching up their picture, but I could not because he would
- 46:26have been that player's biggest fan for the rest of his life.
- 46:29So yeah. It's awesome, but but that I
- 46:31love that I love that story because that's that's the
- 46:33memory, yeah. And you can't and you can't
- 46:36replace that. I I get I get such crap about
- 46:40being a Dallas Cowboys fan and I always have to explain to people
- 46:44the reason why. It's 19771978 Tony Dorsett,
- 46:49writer, starback. They were they were America's
- 46:51team when I was 8 years old and and the Seahawks were brand new.
- 46:56So I know they had large and all that, but they were brand new.
- 46:59And so where I lived at at the Bogan's Oasis is we were on the
- 47:02border of Oregon, Idaho and Washington.
- 47:05So if you weren't a Seahawks fan.
- 47:07You guys don't have A and you don't have a team.
- 47:09You didn't. And so you would either be a
- 47:10Seahawks fan or Broncos would be one of the, you know, would be,
- 47:14would be close, I guess for the Denver Broncos.
- 47:17But for me, the magic of the Cowboys, Tom Landry 1978.
- 47:21That just has always stayed with me.
- 47:23And so and and it's hilarious. And you know me, I'm kind of,
- 47:26I'm kind of weird because once I pick something, that's it.
- 47:30Right. Like football team, favorite
- 47:33rock band or favorite music band.
- 47:34Once I pick what my favorite is, I don't I'm like Benjamin, I
- 47:38don't deviate. So I understand, I understand
- 47:41the the love for that. You know that that that I
- 47:44understand the emotional moment. Yes, to where you're like, where
- 47:47you're like. That speaks to me.
- 47:49That's that's a die hard fan. Yeah.
- 47:51And then my sister-in-law, she lived in Texas and so she got
- 47:54him, She would buy him Texas Ranger merchandise and then send
- 47:58it to us. And he has a sweatshirt.
- 48:00We still have it and it has our last name on it.
- 48:04And so I think a year later, we went to the again, the Mariners
- 48:10and Rangers game, which they always fell around his birthday
- 48:14too. So it was extra special.
- 48:17And he wore his Little Texas Ranger shirt with his name on
- 48:21the back. And we were.
- 48:22And then Matthew had his mayor's jacket and shirt and hat on and
- 48:27Benjamin's decks out in Texas. And we're in the elevator going
- 48:31up to wherever it is our seats are.
- 48:33And somebody steps on the elevator and they look over and
- 48:35they go, oh, your, your house is a house divided.
- 48:39And I was like, Yep, this is my life.
- 48:42Well, we will. You know, one of my favorite
- 48:44memories, which I always put up on the Facebook is when we went
- 48:46to the Seahawks game. And so you guys and include
- 48:50including my wife, all had Seahawks gear on.
- 48:52And then I and then I have a Cowboys jersey.
- 48:54And then you had your friends come in that were also Cowboys
- 48:58fans. So they had their jerseys, but
- 48:59it was and we and just so you know, Dallas lost that game.
- 49:02So get me a curious, you know, see, that's the memory.
- 49:04It was a it's a wonderful memory.
- 49:07So, so I understand where Benjamin's coming from.
- 49:09And I love that the house divided and like, these are
- 49:11these are, you know, this is my team.
- 49:13So yeah, I. Mean we, you know, he always got
- 49:15arousing. I mean, his team was better than
- 49:18the Mariners, so he always had one up on us, so.
- 49:21Yeah, if I ever needed to get information about the Mariners,
- 49:23I just asked Todd Lyons because yeah, it's like, I mean, I know
- 49:26enough. I I know enough to be dangerous.
- 49:29Like I know who the Mariners are and and I've gone to a I've gone
- 49:32to a game for me. I wouldn't.
- 49:34So when I with Logan, when we lived in Seattle, I made a point
- 49:40to do all the things that not necessarily were my favorite
- 49:43thing to do with my son. But so he we went to a Seahawks
- 49:46game, we went to a Mariners game.
- 49:48And so I remember he was five or five years old.
- 49:52We're at the Mariners game. It's in the Kingdom.
- 49:55And they only shot off the fireworks when you get a home
- 49:58run. And so so Logan had been stuffed
- 50:01of ice cream, cotton candy. He he literally was on a she.
- 50:05Trying to wait for this home. Run and and he got so bored
- 50:10because guess I mean when the fireworks would go off and so
- 50:13the Mariners were having a crappy game and I'm like, and he
- 50:16so we never made. I don't think we made it to like
- 50:17the 5th or 6th inning and left, but it was so funny.
- 50:20He's like we're and he's like, daddy, where's the fireworks?
- 50:22I mean, I'm like, well, they got to hit a home run and they
- 50:24didn't. And so right, so I'm stuck with
- 50:28this hyperactive sugar high child.
- 50:31I was like. It's what happened, yeah.
- 50:33So, yeah, so those are those those those great, those great
- 50:35fun memories. So I love it.
- 50:37I'll have to when I see Benjamin again.
- 50:40Yep, except for he did get a New York Yankees hat for his
- 50:43birthday, and I was razzing him about that.
- 50:45I was like, Benjamin, what are you?
- 50:48What are you doing? Right.
- 50:49Well, that's a that's a she's like, I just want a team over
- 50:52there. I.
- 50:52Was like how it looks and I was like that team is the worst team
- 50:56in baseball. Geez.
- 50:58I'm kidding. I'm kidding.
- 51:01Now we're really going to get comments we got to be getting.
- 51:03Well, everybody's got their favorite team.
- 51:04So I was just said earlier that Cheryl, that's Cheryl's favorite
- 51:07team. Todd Lyons is the Mariners.
- 51:09I mean, that's the nice thing is you are allowed to have your
- 51:11team. That's great.
- 51:13And it's like. When our team sucks.
- 51:16Yep. Yeah, the secret to NASCAR is
- 51:19basically you pick your favorite driver and then you talk shit
- 51:21about everybody else. That's NASCAR.
- 51:24That's that's sports in a nutshell.
- 51:26That's. Sports in a nutshell,
- 51:27Absolutely. Whether yeah, exactly.
- 51:30And, and trust me, being a Cowboys fan, I, I, I take the
- 51:33punches. Yeah.
- 51:36All right. Well, I think we could wrap
- 51:38things up on all that fun. I think the I.
- 51:41Think the best thing is gonna wrap today?
- 51:42Yeah, I think the best thing we can wrap it up is the the
- 51:45message of the day is be a kind person, be a kinder person, be
- 51:49be a good, be a good person and lock down those toys with AQR.
- 51:53Lock down your sex toys. So am I gonna so am I gonna get
- 51:58the call? Who's gonna be the bestie on the
- 51:59list before we go? Who's getting?
- 52:00I don't know. Clear, Clear the house.
- 52:02Out clear the house. I mean, you did just post on
- 52:06Facebook a whole little like memory collage thing that said
- 52:11one of my besties and it was. Me, I normally don't do that at
- 52:15all for anybody because that because those come up every
- 52:17single day. Oh yes, I know.
- 52:20I came across that one. I thought, oh that's so cute, so
- 52:23sweet seeing. Some of those pictures I was
- 52:25like. Oh, those are great.
- 52:26Cool. Fun stuff we got to do together.
- 52:31So it might be you, you just moved up on the list because you
- 52:35posted that so. That's nice, but well, trust me,
- 52:38you don't want me me to be your first call for the toys because
- 52:42be like, what's this jackhammer doing in here?
- 52:44What are you doing? No, I don't.
- 52:48You would look, I don't want you whenever you'd be like, yes,
- 52:51what's in there? Yes, you just.
- 52:53Said it. You're right.
- 52:55I was. I know curiosity would kill the
- 52:59cat. I would open that box up.
- 53:01You would. You would.
- 53:02You would not care what you were about to encounter.
- 53:04You would have. You would not care and.
- 53:06Then I'd probably post it online for you too.
- 53:08Yes, Yeah. Look at you thought you knew
- 53:10her. Look at look at what I found.
- 53:15All right. OK, that's enough.
- 53:17Oh. Oh.
