- 0:00SPEAKER_02: There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow.
- 0:04SPEAKER_02: Shining at the end of every day.
- 0:08SPEAKER_02: There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow.
- 0:12SPEAKER_02: Just a dream of.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Hello and welcome to Of Mice and Main Street Men.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: I am Tristan.
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: And I am Sean.
- 0:22SPEAKER_00: Hey, how are ya?
- 0:23SPEAKER_00: I'm good.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: Good.
- 0:25SPEAKER_01: It's uh it's very summery in these here parts.
- 0:28SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, you're out in New Mexico.
- 0:30SPEAKER_01: I am.
- 0:31SPEAKER_00: It's in the 80s, but I hear it's in the 80s in Iowa too.
- 0:34SPEAKER_00: So yeah, it was it's not been too bad.
- 0:36SPEAKER_00: We had a few days that were weird, but now it was like really nice today again.
- 0:39SPEAKER_00: So I don't know.
- 0:41SPEAKER_00: It was like 89 the other day, but like two days before that we had like seven inches of snow.
- 0:46SPEAKER_00: So it's bringing all the seasons this week here.
- 0:49SPEAKER_00: Oh, it's the Midwest.
- 0:51SPEAKER_00: Walt Disney was so smart not to build a park in that part of the world.
- 0:55SPEAKER_00: I know.
- 0:56SPEAKER_00: Um, so yeah, well, I'm glad things are going well with the show, and uh and I'm just here in the Midwest doing a variety of things like I always do.
- 1:06SPEAKER_01: But people are people are responding well to your show, I see and hear.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it seems to be going well.
- 1:13SPEAKER_00: It's a you know, you've worked on it's called Honky Tonk Angels.
- 1:17SPEAKER_00: It's uh it is playing at circuit 21 if you're in the area through April 25th.
- 1:21SPEAKER_00: You should go support live theater and check them out because they're lovely, lovely gals in that show.
- 1:26SPEAKER_00: And uh awesome sauce.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: And yeah, so that's kind of what's going on.
- 1:30SPEAKER_00: But today on the show, um we're gonna check out We have a show.
- 1:34SPEAKER_00: We we do it looks cool.
- 1:36SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I know.
- 1:37SPEAKER_00: We talk we we hope people listen.
- 1:40SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, yeah, we get we get delusional that way.
- 1:46SPEAKER_00: I know, you know what though?
- 1:47SPEAKER_00: I think we're just delusional enough because there are people that listen to this, and I that still tickles me whenever I I see that exciting.
- 1:57SPEAKER_01: Me too.
- 1:59SPEAKER_01: Me too.
- 2:00SPEAKER_01: Like we're just let's give them something, let's give them something to listen to, shall we?
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: That's right.
- 2:04SPEAKER_00: Let's we're just not just screaming into the void.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: There are people out there listening, at least three for sure.
- 2:09SPEAKER_00: Um, we know the three.
- 2:11SPEAKER_00: Yes, we do know the three.
- 2:13SPEAKER_00: Well, I would advent I would venture to say I could name ten who listen on a regular basis.
- 2:17SPEAKER_00: I can name about 30-ish people that I know listen on a regular basis, but the numbers tell me something way more than that.
- 2:26SPEAKER_00: And that's even so hey, all right.
- 2:29SPEAKER_00: Well, here we go.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: Let's dig into this.
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: So we're gonna talk about our favorite views and kind of sites at at the Disney, uh, the Disney World.
- 2:38SPEAKER_00: And we started this, there were very obvious ones that I'm gonna be very Disney basic and be like, well, I can't I have to put this on there.
- 2:45SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I've got a couple too.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Yeah, and we did some smaller views and then some like larger views because uh it was impossible.
- 2:54SPEAKER_00: It was impossible.
- 2:56SPEAKER_02: Right.
- 2:56SPEAKER_01: Yeah, you can't put an apple against a giant orange.
- 3:00SPEAKER_01: I mean you can, but you need to keep the apples together, those little bite-sized, not crab apples.
- 3:06SPEAKER_01: That seems like a horrible analogy.
- 3:09SPEAKER_01: But but you know, the smaller apples are in one group and then the larger oranges are in another.
- 3:14SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's just hard to put, you know, it's like no, it just doesn't work.
- 3:19SPEAKER_00: So here we go.
- 3:21SPEAKER_00: We're let's start with the smaller, let's go smaller, the smaller views first.
- 3:26SPEAKER_00: A smaller view.
- 3:27SPEAKER_00: Yeah, go ahead and give me what's one one of the things on your smaller views list.
- 3:32SPEAKER_01: All right, well, I and I don't know.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: I guess I understood the assignment.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: I hope I did, kind of.
- 3:37SPEAKER_01: I mean, because even some of my smaller views might be considered bigger views, but when you compare them to my bigger views, they're smaller views.
- 3:44SPEAKER_01: Same, same.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 3:45SPEAKER_01: Um, because number five on my list, although I do have a couple of honorable mentions in each category, I think, but in smaller views, my first one is that contemporary view from the people mover.
- 3:59SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah.
- 4:00SPEAKER_01: You don't see it very long, and I know that the contemporary is near and dear to my heart because it was the first Disney hotel I stayed at as a child.
- 4:11SPEAKER_01: But it's just it's so cool to be in Tomorrowland and it's kind of round the corner on the people mover, and it's just so beautifully like framed, and and it's like you're in the world of tomorrow looking at the hotel of tomorrow, although it was all yesterday when it was all built.
- 4:29SPEAKER_01: But but I it just for nostalgia's sake, that was one that came right to mind because I do I love it every time I see it.
- 4:38SPEAKER_01: The view of the contemporary from the people mover that is lovely, actually.
- 4:42SPEAKER_00: Mine is resort-based as well, and it's uh the various parts of the building uh at Coronado Springs.
- 4:51SPEAKER_00: Um, because if you walk through there, there's like fountains.
- 4:56SPEAKER_01: I was gonna say various parts of a building don't seem overly romantic.
- 5:00SPEAKER_00: Yeah, well, you know what?
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: They could be.
- 5:02SPEAKER_00: You don't know.
- 5:03SPEAKER_00: I mean, I don't waiting for an explanation.
- 5:07SPEAKER_00: I'm like, are we talking, you know, the third tile from the left?
- 5:11SPEAKER_00: Yes, precisely the third tile.
- 5:13SPEAKER_00: No, no, uh, Harper brought this up because her and I were chatting on the way back down to St.
- 5:18SPEAKER_00: Louis the other day, and she asked about what this week's podcast was about.
- 5:23SPEAKER_00: And I said, Oh, we're talking about like, you know, our favorite views, and she goes, No, one of mine is, and I was like, No, but she goes, Coronado Springs, Dad.
- 5:32SPEAKER_00: And I was like, Yeah, well, do go on.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: And she's like, Well, there's just we because we walked around there last summer, and right he was like, And you and you shall be staying there very soon, correct?
- 5:43SPEAKER_00: Actually, when this drops, I will be there.
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: Um and how meta in it how you know, right?
- 5:50SPEAKER_00: But she was talking about the fountain and the the various parts of the you know where the old lobby used to be, and like just you know, when you walk around those grounds, it's stunning, but all of the architecture in that building, and even the out the outer and the inner are like gorgeous.
- 6:06SPEAKER_00: And so she got talking about the tile work.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: It's funny you bring up tile work because she's taught she talked about that in the particular fountain area.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: So that's my number five.
- 6:15SPEAKER_00: That is Coronado Springs.
- 6:17SPEAKER_00: I don't, it's not really like you said, it's not a small view, but it it felt more intimate.
- 6:24SPEAKER_01: Right, it feels more intimate, and and I will say, in all in all honesty, I have not been on the grounds of Coronado in probably 20 years.
- 6:36SPEAKER_01: Oh wow, it's it's been a while.
- 6:39SPEAKER_01: I really do need to get back and see what all the hoopla is about.
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: I if I've heard, I you know, I haven't even really seen Destino Tower.
- 6:49SPEAKER_01: So I knew I need I need to get back over there at some point.
- 6:54SPEAKER_01: All right, all right, so my number four, because I tried to spread the love around to different parks and and resorts and such.
- 7:05SPEAKER_01: So my number four comes in an animal kingdom, and it's the Yeti Shrine.
- 7:10SPEAKER_01: Oh, good one, yeah.
- 7:12SPEAKER_01: Well, I will I will have to admit that I was also discussing this topic with uh with my Iowa friends on the phone.
- 7:22SPEAKER_01: And I think I Jackie brought it up, maybe, or Jacob or Kent.
- 7:26SPEAKER_01: I'm sure I'm not giving credit to the right person now.
- 7:29SPEAKER_01: It was probably Katie or Keegan.
- 7:31SPEAKER_01: No, but someone came up with it and I went, oh, right.
- 7:35SPEAKER_01: And and I was like, because what is it again?
- 7:39SPEAKER_01: And what because I remembered that we stopped and actually took a picture last time, which Jackie or Kent or Jacob found and sent it to me.
- 7:47SPEAKER_01: Because it's just that really cool as you're walking, you know, like from Africa around the Asian, you know, Asian area, like you pass the bird show on your left.
- 8:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah, and I know exactly what you're talking about, and all, and then you're starting to come around the curve, and there's the shrine that sits, you know, on the edge of the walkway, but when you line it up, it directly mirrors uh Expedition Everest.
- 8:19SPEAKER_01: I mean, it it like it has the outline of Everest, and it's just really cool to like get Everest in the background with the temple and the Yeti, you know, there.
- 8:31SPEAKER_01: And it's just it's one of those cool things that the Imagineers did that you go, good job, Imagineers.
- 8:37SPEAKER_01: Good job.
- 8:39SPEAKER_01: 100%, yes.
- 8:41SPEAKER_01: So so that was my number four is the mini shrine or the the Yeti Shrine.
- 8:47SPEAKER_00: So my number four is at Animal Kingdom as well, and it's the the pathways, um, particularly the the Pandora's floating mountain pathways, the ones you don't necessarily hit when you're in line for flight of passage.
- 9:03SPEAKER_00: Um but if you kind of go through there, I mean the main approach is impressive, but the side paths kind of reveal uh when it's it's a bummer you can't see this at night anymore because there's a lot of lighting effects and and stuff in there at night, but there's a lot of details um with the plants, and it's it's oh I yeah, go ahead.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: Well, I was just gonna say because you're you're because the park's not open later, right?
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Because I was gonna say the last time I was at Animal Kingdom, it was a moonlight magic event for DVC.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: So we did get to go hang around over there at night, and it it is beautiful.
- 9:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's it's you know, you got the floating mountains up above you, but if you really kind of pay attention to what's around you on the ground, it's a smaller scale immersive perspective, but like most guests I think are missing that because they're so focused on okay, we gotta make sure that we're in line with this or that.
- 10:02SPEAKER_01: But if you just Well and hopefully, hopefully, with the revitalization of that park, we will get some later park hours over there.
- 10:13SPEAKER_00: I hope so.
- 10:14SPEAKER_00: My goodness.
- 10:15SPEAKER_00: But anyway, that's my number four is kind of the uh yeah, the floating mountain pathways of Pandora.
- 10:23SPEAKER_01: Interesting.
- 10:24SPEAKER_01: All right, so my number three, uh and I'm gonna Mangello it here because I had two, because I had one definitely, and then I thought of another one later.
- 10:36SPEAKER_01: And since they were both resorts, I'm throwing them in together.
- 10:40SPEAKER_01: Uh, one is the is the view of the boardwalk and the crescent lake from Beach Club, because I I see that frequently, and it's just so picturesque, especially when you get the lighthouse in there.
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: Oh, sure.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 10:57SPEAKER_01: Um, you know, it's just it's just a nice little view.
- 11:01SPEAKER_01: Maybe maybe a friendship boat is is bustling by.
- 11:06SPEAKER_01: Do boats bustle?
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: I mean, bustle a boat in the water.
- 11:10SPEAKER_01: They can now.
- 11:11SPEAKER_01: I guess you can.
- 11:12SPEAKER_01: So uh, but I just I just think it's charming.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: And and with that, the one I thought of later and was like, I don't want to leave this one completely out.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: Actually, when you stay at Wilderness Lodge and you have like a balcony on your room that looks out over like the pool area and the rock formations and looks down to Geyser Point with you know Bay Lake in the background.
- 11:42SPEAKER_01: I I it is really cool.
- 11:45SPEAKER_01: That is a really cool sort of again, maybe a bigger-ish view, but still sort of smaller in scale in my book.
- 11:55SPEAKER_00: So yeah, no, that makes sense.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: So those two resort views.
- 11:59SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 12:00SPEAKER_00: So my number three is uh the Morocco Pavilion alleyways.
- 12:05SPEAKER_00: Uh I thought about I thought about those.
- 12:08SPEAKER_01: Yeah, they are you know it implies you're a little seedy, like Aladdin stealing stuff if you're hanging out back there.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 12:17SPEAKER_00: No, it's just fun to like step off that kind of main square and with the narrow archways and the the tile work.
- 12:24SPEAKER_00: Again, the tile fountain tile and it's just so cinematic and almost kind of secret.
- 12:30SPEAKER_00: You feel like you're seeing something that maybe no one's really obviously everyone's seen it, everyone's explained.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: But if you don't know now that Marrakech only operates occasionally, as a it's like no, I mean nobody went back there anyway, is why there's no Marrakesh restaurant lunch anyway.
- 12:47SPEAKER_00: But I've taken some beautiful pictures back there, and I cannot stop thinking about them.
- 12:52SPEAKER_00: So sure, because there's no people in the way.
- 12:55SPEAKER_00: No people in the way.
- 12:56SPEAKER_00: Also, I saw some squirrels chasing each other back there around the Christmas time, and it was really fun to watch.
- 13:02SPEAKER_00: That was exciting.
- 13:03SPEAKER_01: Wow, that's not a sentence you hear often.
- 13:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I know.
- 13:07SPEAKER_01: Okay, I saw the squirrels chasing each other through the streets of Morocco, and it just felt so Christmassy.
- 13:13SPEAKER_00: It was it felt so holiday, but I did post that on our socials, so you can find that video if you go back and look for it.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 13:20SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 13:21SPEAKER_00: The Christmas squirrels of Morocco.
- 13:23SPEAKER_00: The Christmas squirrels of Morocco.
- 13:26SPEAKER_00: Now, there is a really that's that's a like a classy, like that's a Disney.
- 13:32SPEAKER_01: You know what I mean?
- 13:33SPEAKER_01: That's Disney Plus meets the Hollywood meets the Hallmark channel, I think.
- 13:37SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the Holiday Squirrels of Morocco.
- 13:39SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, it could be a movie too, but I was thinking of the band name Craze that we've started.
- 13:43SPEAKER_00: I think Holiday of Morocco is good.
- 13:46SPEAKER_01: Holiday Squirrels, yeah, it's like squirrel nut zippers.
- 13:50SPEAKER_01: Maybe it's maybe it has more like Middle Eastern instruments in it.
- 13:54SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's like a classic quintet you would hire for a wedding.
- 13:56SPEAKER_00: Here we are, the holiday squirrels of Morocco playing boxes or whatever.
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: Oh, at some point, and I'm sorry, this is a this is a huge spoke I'm running down, but talking about Hallmark and the and you know, that there's actually going to be a Hallmark Disney World Christmas movie this year.
- 14:13SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they were filming it last year.
- 14:14SPEAKER_01: Yeah, it's kind of I know, and to much to my surprise, there was, you know, Jackie and I worked with Richard Kind once upon a time, and he pops up everywhere.
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: And when I saw him filming in his little Christmas sweater in the hotel lobby, I was like, there he is again.
- 14:30SPEAKER_01: Richard Kind.
- 14:31SPEAKER_01: Richard Kind.
- 14:32SPEAKER_00: Hardest working man in show business.
- 14:34SPEAKER_00: And he gives interviews and talks about that.
- 14:37SPEAKER_00: He's like, I'll take any job that's offered to me.
- 14:39SPEAKER_00: I have bills to pay, I have kids.
- 14:41SPEAKER_00: Apparently, apparently so.
- 14:43SPEAKER_01: Jackie has a scar on her Jackie has a scar on her finger from where he bit her, but that's a whole different story.
- 14:49SPEAKER_00: I love that you've worked with Richard Kine because Richard Kine's one of my favorites, and I need to talk to you more about that sometime because I know you you did stuff at the Songwrites Center with him, right?
- 14:58SPEAKER_00: Was it what was I did?
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: I I did funny thing happen on the way to the forum with him as suitiless, yeah.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: We'll talk.
- 15:05SPEAKER_01: I'm sorry.
- 15:06SPEAKER_01: We're we've now gone down a Richard Kind path.
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 15:09SPEAKER_00: We can always better than a Richard Mean path.
- 15:13SPEAKER_00: We can always go down a Richard Kind spoke because I love that man and I love that you've worked with him.
- 15:19SPEAKER_00: Anyway, that's my number three is Morocco Pavilion Alleyways.
- 15:25SPEAKER_01: That was your number three, huh?
- 15:27SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 15:28SPEAKER_01: All right then.
- 15:29SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 15:30SPEAKER_01: Well, my number two, I'm staying, I'm just dock, I'm just dodging right around the corner over there, so to speak, because mine is that that, you know, the newest street in France that leads up to Remy's Ratatouille Adventure with the with the fountain, and it's just it's so Parisian, it's so, you know, Ratatouille is such a wonderful movie anyway, and that little fountain is just it's just a lovely little nod, and I go, that's just I love it.
- 16:05SPEAKER_01: No, it's I love that little street and that view towards the attraction.
- 16:10SPEAKER_01: And unlike the streets of Morocco, you often find a lot of people there.
- 16:15SPEAKER_01: So that that one is my number two in the small views.
- 16:21SPEAKER_00: That's perfect.
- 16:22SPEAKER_00: All right, my number two is also water-based.
- 16:25SPEAKER_00: Uh it's the Japan Pavilion Koi Pond.
- 16:30SPEAKER_00: Um nice.
- 16:32SPEAKER_00: That Koi Pond behind the the Yeah.
- 16:35SPEAKER_00: Yeah, you know what I'm talking about.
- 16:36SPEAKER_00: And it's so intimate and kind of serene back there, and it has those little bridges and the stone lanterns and the and the like uh I don't know what they're called, but they'll I've taken videos of them before with the the wood, and then the water hits it, and then it like it just makes that really calm mean like little sound.
- 16:55SPEAKER_00: I actually use the name for it.
- 16:56SPEAKER_00: I'm not smart enough to know what that is.
- 16:58SPEAKER_01: I should have researched what the woody water bunker.
- 17:02SPEAKER_01: The woody the woody.
- 17:05SPEAKER_01: I worked with him too.
- 17:06SPEAKER_01: Woody water, woody water bunker, Woody Waterbunker.
- 17:12SPEAKER_01: Oh no, I did, I did.
- 17:15SPEAKER_01: That was that was a different show, though.
- 17:17SPEAKER_01: Um, but but it's interesting, it's interesting because when you said that I I could see it exactly, and I can't tell you the last time I was back there.
- 17:28SPEAKER_01: It has been years, but I was like, oh, right, that little area and the koi pond and the yeah, the woody water bunker.
- 17:36unknown: The woody water bunker.
- 17:38SPEAKER_00: Oh, woody water bunker coming to a stand really, you can use that as a new warm-up for any stage production.
- 17:46SPEAKER_00: Water bunker, bunker.
- 17:47SPEAKER_00: Um that's really, really funny.
- 17:50SPEAKER_00: But anyway, my number two is the Japan Pavilion Koi Pot.
- 17:55SPEAKER_01: Nice.
- 17:56SPEAKER_01: What number was that?
- 17:57SPEAKER_01: Oh, that was your number two.
- 17:58SPEAKER_01: So we're down to our number one of the small views.
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: Yes, we are on the small views.
- 18:01SPEAKER_01: Unless we had any honorable mentions.
- 18:04SPEAKER_01: Well, my number one is just, and I know it's slightly marred now.
- 18:09SPEAKER_01: I know you have to step a little more to the left, maybe to get the picture you want, but it's the haunted mansion.
- 18:17SPEAKER_00: Yeah.
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: It's just it's such a cool view.
- 18:21SPEAKER_00: I that that that is a cool view.
- 18:23SPEAKER_00: Yeah, it's a little more, it's a little bit of a uh a scrip view now, but Yeah.
- 18:30SPEAKER_01: Especially, especially at Halloween and during the party where they've got where they've got what's her name, or out there on her little bench in the in the little area.
- 18:40SPEAKER_01: Woody water bunker.
- 18:42SPEAKER_01: No, it is not Woody Water Bunker.
- 18:45SPEAKER_01: It's I mean, it's it's a woman at least, so it's maybe Wandell Water Bunker of the of the great eastern water bunkers.
- 18:55SPEAKER_00: Wandell.
- 18:56SPEAKER_00: Wandell water bunker.
- 18:58SPEAKER_00: Oh boy.
- 18:59SPEAKER_01: Wow, we're gonna have to have a t-shirt with all the water bunkers on before you know it.
- 19:04SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 19:04SPEAKER_00: Oh, that was my number one.
- 19:06SPEAKER_00: What was your number one?
- 19:07SPEAKER_00: Uh my number one.
- 19:08SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we're going back to a resort, but it's Animal Kingdom Lodge balcony at sunrise.
- 19:14SPEAKER_00: Um and sunset too, I guess.
- 19:16SPEAKER_00: God, how are you up at sunrise?
- 19:19SPEAKER_00: I can on a Disney vacation.
- 19:21SPEAKER_00: I'm fine with it.
- 19:22SPEAKER_00: Um, but also I mean, I you know, I don't know when I'm gonna stay at Animal Kingdom Lodge again.
- 19:26SPEAKER_00: So, but when you step out on that balcony and you can watch giraffes and zebras and you know the other wildlife moving through yeah, it's like they just shot the circle of life over on the other side and everybody is coming back to craft services.
- 19:40SPEAKER_00: But it's like it's so I don't know, there's just something so quiet and surreal about it, and it's so different than like any other resort I've stayed at because it is so far removed from you know the Disney parks themselves.
- 19:57SPEAKER_01: Well, some of those rooms are far removed from the lobby, I'll tell you.
- 20:01SPEAKER_01: Some of those rooms are yeah, Jackie and I had one that could have used a shuttle.
- 20:07SPEAKER_00: I mean, ours was pretty when we stayed there, ours was pretty far down too, but we didn't mind it.
- 20:13SPEAKER_01: It was, you know, um it we were just so when you've only got 9,000 steps when you get back to your hotel, you really want to get in those extra thousand, get really and but you know, uh yeah, it was an amazing experience.
- 20:27SPEAKER_00: So I I that is it again kind of a big view, but a small view because of it, was just me and Harper, and so that may seem smaller.
- 20:35SPEAKER_00: Did you ever wonder did you have any honorable mentions?
- 20:39SPEAKER_00: Um, I did.
- 20:42SPEAKER_00: Uh small views, I guess they're small views.
- 20:47SPEAKER_00: I have honorable mentions.
- 20:48SPEAKER_00: Maybe I'll just mention all of mine at the end.
- 20:51SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 20:52SPEAKER_00: Do you have you just want to mention them at the end?
- 20:54SPEAKER_00: That way, yeah, that's you bet.
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: You bet.
- 20:58SPEAKER_01: They're gonna be on the edge of their whatever they're sitting on while they listen to this.
- 21:02SPEAKER_01: Their car seat, their their office chair.
- 21:06SPEAKER_00: Yeah, we'll keep them in suspense.
- 21:08SPEAKER_00: They're currently Googling when one Wendell.
- 21:11SPEAKER_00: What'd you say her name was?
- 21:12SPEAKER_01: Wandell one wondell.
- 21:17SPEAKER_01: I it wasn't Wendell because Wendell's my cat.
- 21:20SPEAKER_01: Wondell.
- 21:21SPEAKER_01: I like Wendell.
- 21:22SPEAKER_01: I think it was Wondell.
- 21:23SPEAKER_01: Wandell.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: Okay, good.
- 21:24SPEAKER_01: All right, let's anyway.
- 21:27SPEAKER_01: I will I will this is it's a spoiler.
- 21:29SPEAKER_01: I did not make one of them uh trash can with a view.
- 21:34SPEAKER_01: Oh that was not that was not one of mine.
- 21:36SPEAKER_00: No trash can picnic this week.
- 21:38SPEAKER_01: No, no, trash can picnic with a view.
- 21:41SPEAKER_01: So all right, shall we move on to the bigger view?
- 21:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, what do you think?
- 21:45SPEAKER_01: The more classic postcard, yes, quintessential.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: What are you expecting when you go to Disney kind of of panoramic view?
- 21:56SPEAKER_01: Panoramic, dare I say?
- 21:57SPEAKER_00: Oh, panoramic is good.
- 21:59SPEAKER_00: I like I like It and postcard is such a great way to put it as well.
- 22:04SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 22:04SPEAKER_01: Well, so all right.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: So my first one is the Magic Kingdom from the Polynesian.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: Oh, sure.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: Especially the docks, kind of.
- 22:17SPEAKER_01: But also, I mean, even just from the beach where you can kind of get, you know, if you were taking a picture where you would have like one of the hammocks kind of in the foreground, but just looking across the lake and how beautifully the castle is lit, and I I think virtually all of these are nighttime views, just because they're they're great during the day, but man, Disney knows how to light stuff.
- 22:43SPEAKER_01: So yeah.
- 22:44SPEAKER_01: So my first one is the Magic Kingdom view from the Polynesian.
- 22:48SPEAKER_00: Okay.
- 22:49SPEAKER_00: So my number five on this list is Walt Disney World at Christmas time.
- 22:55SPEAKER_00: Now I've only experienced like from a drone a mile in the air.
- 22:59SPEAKER_00: Well, just let me so the whole thing.
- 23:01SPEAKER_00: The whole, like I'm going big picture here.
- 23:04SPEAKER_00: So wow, you did.
- 23:05SPEAKER_00: I know, particularly um Main Street USA in Magic Kingdom.
- 23:11SPEAKER_00: But also, I'm gonna I'm gonna Lou Mongello this and say Epcot as well, because they that was where I went for my Christmas trip.
- 23:19SPEAKER_01: And it was I was you were given the gift of a solo ride through through living with the land at dawn.
- 23:28SPEAKER_00: Honestly, the best thing that's ever happened to me.
- 23:31SPEAKER_00: Um Wow, I'm sure Savannah will be happy to hear as well.
- 23:36SPEAKER_00: Savannah and Harper know that where they stand.
- 23:39SPEAKER_00: Um I I was cheered and very emotional by the decorations and just the atmosphere and the vibe, and I created some like cool memories for the holidays there because I've never done anything like that.
- 23:55SPEAKER_00: So those particular things at a large-scale view deserve a spot on this list.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: I know it's it's a lot because that's that's really saying something, but that's like a Lou Mangello dump truck pulled up and just dumped a lot of stuff out.
- 24:10SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: Like the pretzel commercial, I think.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: Isn't there a pretzel commercial where they just dump a ton of pretzels?
- 24:16SPEAKER_01: He's like, They're really good.
- 24:19SPEAKER_00: I think so.
- 24:21SPEAKER_00: I don't know, but yes, I'll just say I don't all those views and the holidays, they're real good.
- 24:26SPEAKER_00: Yeah, the views and the holidays, you know.
- 24:28SPEAKER_00: There you go.
- 24:29SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 24:30SPEAKER_01: All right, so my fourth is a classic as well, but I do love it, especially at nighttime, and it's the Tree of Life from Discovery Island, yeah, with all of the animals carved into the bark.
- 24:44SPEAKER_01: It is just so cool.
- 24:46SPEAKER_01: I learned a I learned a piece of trivia, and I don't even remember where I learned it.
- 24:50SPEAKER_01: Do you know the one specific animal that like is carved into the tree that is actually a real like single animal?
- 25:00SPEAKER_01: I I don't.
- 25:02SPEAKER_01: I just learned this recently.
- 25:03SPEAKER_01: Apparently, as it was being constructed, Jane Goodall visited and she asked where the I who chimpanzees, that's what she was known for, right?
- 25:15SPEAKER_01: A chimpanzee.
- 25:16SPEAKER_01: Anyway, she asked where the chimpanzee was, and they had not carved one yet.
- 25:20SPEAKER_01: Oh and so they decided to carve one that was one of her chimpanzees specifically.
- 25:27SPEAKER_01: Oh, so it is the only it is the only apparently actual carving that is based off a single like actual animal.
- 25:38SPEAKER_01: Oh wow, that's really cool.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: I did not know that.
- 25:40SPEAKER_01: I thought so too.
- 25:41SPEAKER_01: And here I threw it in as a bonus nugget with our views.
- 25:46SPEAKER_00: I love a good bonus nugget.
- 25:47SPEAKER_01: Um doesn't, I think they're gonna start serving those at Liberty Tree now or at uh Sleepy Hollow.
- 25:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 25:54SPEAKER_01: You'll get a cord dog with a bonus nugget.
- 25:58SPEAKER_00: So actually, my number four is uh the tree of life as well.
- 26:05SPEAKER_00: Um across from like the Discovery River.
- 26:09SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah.
- 26:10SPEAKER_00: I like seeing it from across the water because it gives you the scale and the the view, like oh my gosh, it's just I can see it right now, and it's just gorgeous.
- 26:20SPEAKER_00: Um, and also that view again, it's beautiful during the day, but after dark, it's also a really pretty view, which you don't see a whole lot right now.
- 26:31SPEAKER_00: Yeah, but yeah, that's my number four is the tree of life across from the all right.
- 26:36SPEAKER_01: Well, my through my number three is also pretty iconic and not super imaginative, but you just gotta love it.
- 26:44SPEAKER_01: And it is it is that spaceship earth view across world showcase lagoon.
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: Do we call it world showcase lagoon still?
- 26:54SPEAKER_01: Is it world world neighborhood lagoon?
- 26:57SPEAKER_01: World neighborgoon for body of water which formerly held the Stargate.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, no, just but kind of that view from the bridge in Italy where you just that the look across where it's sort of framed between Canada and Mexico, and but especially at night, again, man, they light that thing purdy.
- 27:21SPEAKER_00: Yeah, I can't disagree with you on that.
- 27:24SPEAKER_01: As they say in the south, they lit that purdy.
- 27:26SPEAKER_00: Man, they lit that purdy on the road to Topiary.
- 27:32SPEAKER_00: The road to Topieri.
- 27:35SPEAKER_00: Um that did make me chuckle.
- 27:38SPEAKER_00: All right.
- 27:39SPEAKER_00: I listened to it on the road to Topiary.
- 27:41SPEAKER_00: Uh okay, so my number three is uh it's iconic and it's basic too, but it's the Tower of Terror from Sunset Boulevard.
- 27:49SPEAKER_00: Oh, nice.
- 27:50SPEAKER_00: Nothing quite that long sight line with the tower looming at the end of it.
- 27:55SPEAKER_00: It really is, it's so cinematic.
- 27:58SPEAKER_00: And at dusk, that particular moment because so haunting and elegant at the same time, and that is a real showstopper.
- 28:05SPEAKER_00: I I posted a picture of of the Tower Hotel recently.
- 28:11SPEAKER_00: That's really pretty on our social, so you should go check it out.
- 28:14SPEAKER_00: But gorgeousness.
- 28:15SPEAKER_00: So number three, Tower of Terror.
- 28:17SPEAKER_01: Well, that and that is one I will give you is probably a little cooler in that in that golden hour of sunset than it would even be at night.
- 28:27SPEAKER_02: Yeah.
- 28:28SPEAKER_01: Because at night, you know, more of that neon from the hotel sign gets in there, and that just makes it a little gaudy.
- 28:36SPEAKER_01: All right, now we know where you stand on neon.
- 28:38SPEAKER_01: Well, no, I I don't tend to.
- 28:41SPEAKER_01: I love me some neon.
- 28:42SPEAKER_01: I don't I don't know.
- 28:43SPEAKER_01: I just in that case, I think it cheapens it maybe.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: That's fair.
- 28:48SPEAKER_01: I'll just be controversial and leave it at that.
- 28:51SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 28:52SPEAKER_01: So my number two.
- 28:55SPEAKER_01: My number two, and again, it's a nighttime view, and it's the castle and the park.
- 29:02SPEAKER_01: But I'm gonna I'm gonna Mangello this because it's from two of my attractions that I think are really cool to do at night, and they both give you a slightly different perspective, but it's the view from uh Big Thunder Mountain, which we have not had for a year or so.
- 29:20SPEAKER_01: So it's very exciting that that'll be back.
- 29:22SPEAKER_01: But you know, when you come out at the top and you just the park is all lit up and that vantage point, and then also as you're coming over the top of the drop in Tiana's, uh, just to look out and see that is the so those are my attraction nighttime views of the Magic Kingdom.
- 29:42SPEAKER_00: Oh, I love that.
- 29:43SPEAKER_00: Okay, my number two is you mentioned it's World Showcase Lagoon Lagoon at night.
- 29:49SPEAKER_00: That lagoon?
- 29:51SPEAKER_01: You can stop at the lagoon on the way to Toperary.
- 29:54SPEAKER_00: It sure can.
- 29:55SPEAKER_00: Toperary has a nice lagloon while you're on a popcorn bucket safari or whatever that is.
- 30:01SPEAKER_00: Uh I you know, I think it was popcorn bucket tour, but I like popcorn bucket safari a lot better.
- 30:06SPEAKER_00: That's a that's a band name that we haven't mentioned before.
- 30:10SPEAKER_00: So it's uh it's like you had mentioned, it is that view you have Spaceship Earth in the background, you have the water reflections, the glowing pavilions, and it is such a cool thing because there is something about it at night that makes it feel so vast, but like so intimate at the same time, and it's hard to explain that.
- 30:35SPEAKER_00: But if you're at certain points in, I don't know, when it when you're at a lagloon, you know, um it just becomes a uh a living postcard of of that.
- 30:48SPEAKER_00: And I there's something about Epcot at night that we've talked about this before, that is absolutely stunning.
- 30:54SPEAKER_00: And so you can't mutate it.
- 30:56SPEAKER_00: And so there you go.
- 30:57SPEAKER_00: I love it.
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: It's mainly the low lighting that allows you to drive your ECV onto other human beings because it's so low lit.
- 31:04SPEAKER_01: But you know, and it's the drinks that make you beautiful.
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: So yeah, okay.
- 31:10SPEAKER_01: All right, well, my number one, and I've talked about this before, and I will say it has been beautiful in the past, but I feel like there is a newish edition that has plused it, and it is it is the the Magic Kingdom view either from the the uh from California Grill or from the villain's layer, which I know is bougie and I just sound exclusive when I bring it up, but there are reasons to be OG DVC and the villain's lair is one of them, but I've always loved that view.
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: But man, once the Tron Canopy came into being a part of that, it's just it's so cool.
- 31:54SPEAKER_01: And therefore, it holds the number one spot in my heart, the view from Villain's Lair slash California Grill of the entire Magic Kingdom at night with that Tron canopy and and just the beauty that is the Magic Kingdom.
- 32:13SPEAKER_00: Oh, yeah, I I can't disagree.
- 32:16SPEAKER_00: That's a great one.
- 32:17SPEAKER_00: But you're gonna because you've got a different number one, I bet.
- 32:20SPEAKER_00: I I am gonna, but so mine is uh the the Cinderella Castle as well, but I've Lou Mongella this too because it's from the end of Main Street by the train station with all of the lighting and with people kind of but like there's a lot of people around, and I I just love a busy main street, it's really cool to me.
- 32:44SPEAKER_00: I love the vibe of that.
- 32:46SPEAKER_00: So, unlike unlike your uh holiday adventure, the tree is not up is what you're the tree is not up, yes.
- 32:52SPEAKER_00: That for holidays this wouldn't work out, but this particular moment I think this works okay.
- 32:58SPEAKER_00: I'm manjelloing this in a few ways because I love it at night.
- 33:01SPEAKER_00: I do love it first thing in the morning for the same reason, but then I'm with you.
- 33:09SPEAKER_00: The reveal when you're at the top of uh Tiana's is breathtaking.
- 33:16SPEAKER_00: And if you can hit that at the right time with all the fireworks and everything else, oh wow, yeah, that's insane.
- 33:23SPEAKER_00: And you do feel like I don't know, there's something I love looking, I don't know if you've done this.
- 33:28SPEAKER_00: This is kind of a spoke but kind of related.
- 33:30SPEAKER_00: I go on Google Earth sometimes and just kind of look at various places from above because I'm super curious about it.
- 33:36SPEAKER_00: And if you ever do Disney, it's so interesting to me because when you're in Magic Kingdom, you don't it's so well designed that you don't really think about the fact that there's just normal sea outside of it.
- 33:50SPEAKER_00: And when you look at it from above and you just look at like the infrastructure that's around it, like parking lots for cast members, backstage areas.
- 34:00SPEAKER_00: Right.
- 34:01SPEAKER_00: It is so construction on new villains.
- 34:05SPEAKER_00: Construction, but like you don't think about it when you're on that main street looking at the castle and looking at all the things because Disney says does such a good job of distracting you from you know those things and also your wallet.
- 34:18SPEAKER_00: But and you and you don't even realize you're up on the second floor, even no, right?
- 34:23SPEAKER_00: Well, that too.
- 34:25SPEAKER_00: And I I don't know, there's something about Magic Kingdom in general that has my heart, but those particular, you know, views of that castle, like you had mentioned, it's you know, it's a basic answer, but like you cannot deny how spectacular that is.
- 34:42SPEAKER_00: And also the new paint job looks amazing.
- 34:44SPEAKER_00: And I don't know if you asked recently, it looks so I have, and I I'm just I'm very happy.
- 34:50SPEAKER_01: I I liked I have nothing against the rosy no, it looked great anniversary look, but I'm I'm glad we're back to the more traditional colors.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 35:00SPEAKER_01: So that when the 60th rolls around and they want to do something a little special, we'll be ready for that too.
- 35:06SPEAKER_00: Exactly.
- 35:07SPEAKER_00: Um, so there you go.
- 35:08SPEAKER_00: There's our our small views and our large-scale postcard views.
- 35:12SPEAKER_00: Now, if somebody wants to see these views, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 35:15SPEAKER_00: What about those honorable mentions?
- 35:16SPEAKER_00: Oh my god, their seat.
- 35:18SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, I know they all they're all stop trying to hawk vacations, shamelessly.
- 35:24SPEAKER_00: You know what?
- 35:25SPEAKER_00: Give the people what they want.
- 35:26SPEAKER_00: Before we hawk vacations, yes, I do.
- 35:30SPEAKER_00: I do have honorable mentions.
- 35:32SPEAKER_00: Um, do you want to go first?
- 35:34SPEAKER_01: Well, yeah, well, first my first actual note that I would I had when I was making small views was rest in peace, rivers of America.
- 35:42SPEAKER_01: Oh, sure.
- 35:44SPEAKER_01: That was my first note because man, there were sure some pretty views.
- 35:47SPEAKER_01: Now, I will c I will add a caveat to that and say, I really am betting the Imagineers will give us some amazing small views once Piston Peak opens.
- 36:00SPEAKER_01: Oh, 100%.
- 36:01SPEAKER_01: I think I think there will be some wonderful callbacks, some really pretty pictures, stations, and also but uh uh and I guess my only other small view honorable mention was that Disney World sign as you're coming into property, just that little archway where you go, okay, I'm now in the bubble.
- 36:23SPEAKER_01: So so that those were my small views.
- 36:26SPEAKER_01: Did you have any small view, honorable mentions?
- 36:29SPEAKER_00: Yeah, again, it's uh I just love watching, I love people watching, and I love watching the families with the small kids that are like so full of like excitement and wonder.
- 36:42SPEAKER_00: Joie de vive.
- 36:44SPEAKER_00: Yeah, they're just like, especially if they're meeting a character or there's a character near, or like watching the parade, or you know, watch one of the nighttime shows.
- 36:53SPEAKER_00: It's just there's something about it that really, really gets me, especially now that mine's 12 and she's like cool and a teenager and stuff, you know.
- 37:02SPEAKER_00: She loves it in a different way now, but you know, it's so a smaller view.
- 37:10SPEAKER_00: The other smaller view was um the lobbies, some of the lobbies that were not on the grand scale of like Fort Wilderness or the Grand Floridian, but like the Caribbean Beach and the Yacht Club and um Yeah, Kadami Village.
- 37:28SPEAKER_00: So those are some of my smaller view.
- 37:31SPEAKER_01: Uh and just and just reminds us how much imagineers and designers put into making all of those spaces just have some really beautiful things to look at.
- 37:46SPEAKER_00: Oh, and my other smaller view was uh the carousel of progress.
- 37:53SPEAKER_01: Because well, sure.
- 37:56SPEAKER_00: Uh because I did watch a ride-through of that today while I was working, and I was like, gosh, that is a great idea.
- 38:03SPEAKER_01: And there's nothing more beautiful than a rounded building.
- 38:07SPEAKER_01: No, not that, but like the the work inside.
- 38:12SPEAKER_01: Well, that's not a that's not a small view, that's an attraction.
- 38:16SPEAKER_01: But it could be a small view.
- 38:19SPEAKER_01: You know, it could be.
- 38:20SPEAKER_01: I I think I'm glad you left it off your list because I would have given you a lot of grief about that.
- 38:26SPEAKER_01: Yeah, well, I didn't think it should make the list, but it did crack.
- 38:29SPEAKER_01: When you look at the stage at the country bears, that's a small view too, but I didn't bring it in as a candidate.
- 38:35SPEAKER_00: You were right, but I didn't I decided not to put all right attraction moments.
- 38:40SPEAKER_00: That's for another time.
- 38:42SPEAKER_01: Good, good choice.
- 38:43SPEAKER_01: All right, big views.
- 38:45SPEAKER_01: I had two.
- 38:46SPEAKER_01: Actually, I flipped I flipped your Tower of Terror view to be the the view that you get when the elevator doors open.
- 38:55SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, that's a good one.
- 38:57SPEAKER_01: That's I like that.
- 38:58SPEAKER_01: That's such a cool view.
- 39:00SPEAKER_01: And in Disneyland, it's really funny because like rockets like that's a theme park.
- 39:07SPEAKER_01: Uh but but not in Florida.
- 39:10SPEAKER_01: That's and that's where we were.
- 39:11SPEAKER_01: But uh, but yeah, the the Tower of Terror Park view is on my honorable mention list, as is, and I know this is just new to me, and so I'm I'm you know, I'm intrigued by the shiny new object, but man, the view of the fireworks from Geo82 is really a very, very cool view.
- 39:38SPEAKER_01: It made me love that damn harmony, no symph Symphonious, no Illuminum Illumininous, Illuminous on the Lagoon.
- 39:48SPEAKER_01: Illuminous on the lagoon, a symphony of us.
- 39:52SPEAKER_01: It made me love that show.
- 39:54SPEAKER_01: That's how good it is.
- 39:56SPEAKER_01: So uh, so it made my it made my honorable mention list as well.
- 40:00SPEAKER_01: How about you?
- 40:01SPEAKER_01: Some big views?
- 40:02SPEAKER_00: Yeah, so my big views are the Jumbo House lobby.
- 40:06SPEAKER_00: That I guess could be a small view too, but it just it was so insanely cool to see.
- 40:13SPEAKER_00: Um, and then I'm kind of just saying Fort Wilderness in general, because I had never really been spent too much time over there.
- 40:22SPEAKER_00: And what a beautiful, expansive area with the lobby and the stream in the lobby and all that, and the grounds.
- 40:29SPEAKER_00: And oh my gosh.
- 40:30SPEAKER_00: So Fort Wilderness.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: Well, and now I wonder, I wonder if there's going to be sort of a walking path now once the once the lakeside opens.
- 40:38SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, I don't know.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: You'll be able to sort of walk over there, but I don't know.
- 40:42SPEAKER_01: I guess time will tell.
- 40:44SPEAKER_01: Lakeside Lodge.
- 40:46SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 40:47SPEAKER_01: That so yeah, there we go.
- 40:49SPEAKER_01: That is our there's our big view.
- 40:51SPEAKER_01: Maybe someday we'll come back and do controversial views.
- 40:54SPEAKER_01: We should.
- 40:55SPEAKER_01: That would be since we did the big and the small.
- 40:57SPEAKER_01: Well, we come up with those quite a bit.
- 40:59SPEAKER_00: Well, yeah, we do.
- 41:00SPEAKER_00: We do on our own.
- 41:02SPEAKER_00: On our own.
