- 0:25Years into the battle, This is the truth behind the tremor.
- 0:29Let's begin. Hey, thanks for being here
- 0:32today. I have a deeply personal thing
- 0:34that I want to share with you. It's a letter.
- 0:37It's a letter that I started writing a few years ago after my
- 0:40diagnosis, and I couldn't finish it.
- 0:42It was too hard, it was too personal, it was too raw.
- 0:45After a few years, I was ready. And if you're feeling
- 0:47discouraged, I hope that this gives you some strength.
- 0:50Save it, share it, and come back to it when you need it.
- 0:52Because Parkinson's may be loud, but our voices together are much
- 0:56louder. So here's my letter, your
- 0:59Parkinson's. I hope this heartfelt letter
- 1:02finds you, though I must admit I don't quite wish you well.
- 1:06Today, I want to share a roller coaster of emotions that your
- 1:09presence has stirred within me. You've earned quite a
- 1:12reputation, haven't you? The way you disrupt lives, you
- 1:16hinder mobility, and you challenge those who encounter
- 1:19you is nothing short of formidable.
- 1:22Yet amidst all the trials you bring, what truly inspires me is
- 1:26remarkable resilience and strength displayed by those who
- 1:28are affected. It's incredible to witness how
- 1:31you've touched lives of so many, even though the journey with you
- 1:34is far from easy. Simple tasks like walking,
- 1:37talking, or even enjoying a cup of coffee have become an uphill
- 1:40battle. But here's something that you
- 1:42may not realize. You inadvertently foster unity.
- 1:46Families, communities, and researchers are banding
- 1:48together, and they're forging unbreakable bonds in their
- 1:51shared mission to overcome you. You know Parkinson's, You do
- 1:54bring out the best in our people.
- 1:56Your presence sparks innovation, ground breaking research, and
- 1:59extraordinary medical advancements.
- 2:02From ingenious deep brain stimulation techniques to
- 2:05revolutionary drug therapies, a legion of scientists and
- 2:08healthcare professionals are tirelessly working to help with
- 2:11you. But let me be honest with you,
- 2:13Parkinson's. You're not exactly the most
- 2:15popular guest in our lives. You invade our personal space.
- 2:19You you snatch away independence, and you leave a
- 2:21trail of uncertainty in your wake.
- 2:23You test our patience and you push us to our limits, but yet,
- 2:26in the face of such adversity, we discover untapped wells of
- 2:30hope, love, and support that keep us going.
- 2:33So, Parkinson's, while you may linger in the lives of many, you
- 2:36will never defeat the human spirit.
- 2:38We will keep fighting, hoping and dreaming of a day when you
- 2:42are nothing more than a distant memory.
- 2:44And until then, know this. You'll never defeat us and we
- 2:48will never give up. Stay with us, we'll be right
- 2:53back.
