- 0:00Speaker 1: I didn't have any venture capital, I didn't have anybody
- 0:03Speaker 1: giving me a blessing. I didn't have like this was.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Something I built.
- 0:05Speaker 1: So many things come up in the process that you
- 0:08Speaker 1: kind of just hit with and it's like, you've gotta
- 0:09Speaker 1: deal with it.
- 0:10Speaker 3: What has been the biggest evolution in you and your brand?
- 0:13Speaker 1: We jumped from one hundred thousand orders to two hundred
- 0:16Speaker 1: thousand orders with their life less than it, you know,
- 0:18Speaker 1: and I love AI. I'm a Clode girl. Ever since then,
- 0:20Speaker 1: my life has completely changed and I have saved over
- 0:24Speaker 1: hundreds of thousands. People don't want to buy into you
- 0:26Speaker 1: unless they feel like they genuinely know you now with
- 0:28Speaker 1: your face on the brain.
- 0:29Speaker 2: They want more.
- 0:30Speaker 1: You want us to buy, show us everything, and I
- 0:32Speaker 1: think that's the battle that I'm dealing with now.
- 0:34Speaker 4: Everybody got to pin on social media.
- 0:36Speaker 2: I had this stripe outfit.
- 0:37Speaker 1: I got so much backlash, Like I was like, maybe
- 0:40Speaker 1: I'll should start production on this, like it was bad
- 0:42Speaker 1: and that outfit sold out and everybody begging me to
- 0:45Speaker 1: restock it. You'll lose so much money. Listening to what
- 0:48Speaker 1: people with no credentials gotta say.
- 0:50Speaker 4: Is there another industry that you particularly wanna go into I.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Need something that's always generating money. That's the reason why
- 0:56Speaker 1: I even go so hard with my businesses.
- 0:58Speaker 2: It is because of my son.
- 0:59Speaker 5: Are you keeping him around the business so we can
- 1:01Speaker 5: see what the entrepreneurship is at a very young age.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Are you going to be an entrepreneur? And he's like,
- 1:05Speaker 2: I'm gonna be a rapper?
- 1:06Speaker 4: I'm like, all right, guys, welcome back. We got a
- 1:11Speaker 4: good friend of ours, a friend of the platform, Jada.
- 1:14Speaker 3: How you doing?
- 1:15Speaker 1: I'm good? How are y'all good?
- 1:17Speaker 3: This is a reunion show.
- 1:19Speaker 2: It's a reunion three years, three year union probably.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Yeah, we did ask SoCal lot abilities. I was in
- 1:25Speaker 4: La when we did that in La.
- 1:27Speaker 2: I think that was four years ago.
- 1:28Speaker 3: It might be that was years twenty two. Yeah, yes, wow.
- 1:32Speaker 4: And then you came to invest USTs yep, last year
- 1:36Speaker 4: and yeah, it's been you know, great, just following your
- 1:38Speaker 4: journey everything that you've been able to accomplish. So, first
- 1:41Speaker 4: of all, congratulations on everything.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 1:43Speaker 3: We've been watching sharing it on.
- 1:45Speaker 1: Yeah, I use my resources. I call y'all too when
- 1:49Speaker 1: I need advice. So y'all are doing amazing as well.
- 1:53Speaker 4: How does it feel for you as far as like
- 1:55Speaker 4: figuring it out in a real time, like you know
- 1:57Speaker 4: you you you social media, doing the brand deals, you're
- 2:01Speaker 4: doing the clothing line, You're doing everything. You're doing the podcast,
- 2:04Speaker 4: you talking about the podcast' going to talk about real estate?
- 2:06Speaker 4: How is it for you to actually just be setting
- 2:08Speaker 4: your own blueprint in real time with the world watching
- 2:11Speaker 4: every move that you make.
- 2:13Speaker 1: I think every day I just learn as I go.
- 2:16Speaker 1: It's no real blueprint to it. I'm just kind of
- 2:19Speaker 1: living and existing and just every day is something new.
- 2:22Speaker 1: But I just know that I have goals that I
- 2:24Speaker 1: set and I want to achieve, so I just keep going.
- 2:27Speaker 1: So I can't really say it's like.
- 2:28Speaker 2: A real layout of how it looks. It's just something
- 2:33Speaker 2: that I do and learn.
- 2:34Speaker 5: Yeah, four years has past, which is crazy because we've
- 2:36Speaker 5: been watching the journey. I wonder as you look back
- 2:39Speaker 5: at the twenty twenty two Jata, what has been the
- 2:43Speaker 5: biggest evolution in you and your brand since that point?
- 2:49Speaker 2: Just overall growth.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I learned so much from that first that was only
- 2:52Speaker 1: a year out of me establishing Wait a minute, and
- 2:55Speaker 1: it was doing well, but now it's doing great, you know,
- 2:58Speaker 1: so just becoming more hands on along the way and
- 3:02Speaker 1: trying to just get back in control of my business
- 3:05Speaker 1: overall and not just letting it run for me, actually
- 3:08Speaker 1: setting up systems, putting things into place to help me
- 3:11Speaker 1: keep scaling. I think that is where I'm at now
- 3:13Speaker 1: from where I was then.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:15Speaker 5: I think when people watched that episode, they were pleasantly surprised.
- 3:20Speaker 5: Right they had seen you on social media. The feedback was, wait,
- 3:23Speaker 5: she actually knows business. So it's good to hear that.
- 3:25Speaker 5: You're saying, now I'm putting systems in place, I'm growing
- 3:28Speaker 5: involving because they're growing with you too.
- 3:30Speaker 3: So they're watching some of the mistakes.
- 3:32Speaker 5: How do you feel about living in that space where
- 3:35Speaker 5: people are watching them? You're actually living them making some errors.
- 3:38Speaker 5: People are watching and saying, oh wait, let's not go
- 3:41Speaker 5: that route. How do you feel do you feel responsibility
- 3:43Speaker 5: in that sense?
- 3:45Speaker 1: I do like to be the blueprint for not making
- 3:50Speaker 1: the same mistake twice.
- 3:51Speaker 2: So I just wish that a lot.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Of the things I went through or am going through
- 3:55Speaker 1: as far as business now, somebody got on there and
- 3:57Speaker 1: said like, all right, don't set this up this way
- 4:00Speaker 1: because this could end up going like this. So I
- 4:02Speaker 1: just like to be that voice for all entrepreneurs, especially
- 4:05Speaker 1: my young black entrepreneurs, because it's like, don't make the
- 4:07Speaker 1: same mistake twice.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Don't make the same mistake I did.
- 4:09Speaker 1: So if I can ever be vocal about it, I'm
- 4:11Speaker 1: always like trying to put them on like don't do this.
- 4:14Speaker 2: So I think it's a little bit of responsibility.
- 4:17Speaker 1: But it's also like, I think that's part of the
- 4:19Speaker 1: reason why I've been so successful, because I've never been
- 4:21Speaker 1: scared to like help people out.
- 4:23Speaker 4: So one of the things that you were very transparent
- 4:25Speaker 4: about was real estate, and you put on social media
- 4:30Speaker 4: as far as your experience, as far as you know,
- 4:32Speaker 4: getting at home then kind of changing your mind. It
- 4:36Speaker 4: happened a few times walkers through. I never really heard
- 4:39Speaker 4: the full story because I think that that was very
- 4:41Speaker 4: like transparent, and I've seen a lot of real estate
- 4:44Speaker 4: agents that I knew in the comments like well you
- 4:46Speaker 4: should have did this, you should have contacted me, everybody,
- 4:48Speaker 4: you know, everybody got to pay on social media. Yeah,
- 4:51Speaker 4: so walk us through that process of what happened.
- 4:53Speaker 1: So I originally came up with this idea of like, Okay,
- 4:57Speaker 1: I'm to a point now my mom has a home.
- 4:59Speaker 1: I wanted to was one of my biggest goals, like
- 5:01Speaker 1: I want to put my mom in a house to
- 5:02Speaker 1: where I don't got to keep paying rent. So I
- 5:04Speaker 1: purchased her home, but I didn't have all these stipulations
- 5:07Speaker 1: as things to go through.
- 5:08Speaker 2: She just found the.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Home she liked, all right, we're getting it mine. It
- 5:11Speaker 1: was a little different because of course this is a
- 5:15Speaker 1: big house, like it's a multimillion dollar house.
- 5:18Speaker 2: So went through the process of finding.
- 5:20Speaker 1: A home, had a relator that I was working with,
- 5:23Speaker 1: and got the home, went toward it, did all the
- 5:27Speaker 1: whole inspections, did the whole process, and I realized that like,
- 5:33Speaker 1: hold up, I don't think I'm ready for this. Is
- 5:36Speaker 1: there any way that I'll be able to get my
- 5:38Speaker 1: earnest money back?
- 5:39Speaker 2: And they're like no.
- 5:41Speaker 1: But for that first house, I was like not really
- 5:43Speaker 1: tripping because it's like, Okay, this was the first time,
- 5:45Speaker 1: first mistake, We're not going to go through it again.
- 5:48Speaker 1: So I found another house in the same area.
- 5:50Speaker 4: But so you wasn't ready, you wasn't ready to be
- 5:52Speaker 4: a home owner, or you just didn't want that house.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I didn't want that house because I started doing more research,
- 5:56Speaker 1: something better came up on the market and I'm like,
- 5:58Speaker 1: this is way. It was cheaper, and I'm like it
- 6:01Speaker 1: just didn't make sense buying the other one for more
- 6:04Speaker 1: money but not the the better like amenities and like
- 6:07Speaker 1: the things that it came with and the finishes and
- 6:09Speaker 1: just it was just not what I wanted. So it
- 6:12Speaker 1: was a house around the corner and took the l
- 6:15Speaker 1: for the first one twenty five thousand.
- 6:17Speaker 2: I couldn't get it back.
- 6:18Speaker 1: I didn't want to argue with it, cause it's like, Okay,
- 6:20Speaker 1: that was my mistake for pushing the needle that quick
- 6:24Speaker 1: on something that I wasn't for sure about. So same
- 6:27Speaker 1: thing happened with the next house I found, And then
- 6:30Speaker 1: I just started sitting with the fact of like do
- 6:32Speaker 1: I really want to have a house in Atlanta with
- 6:35Speaker 1: just me and my son? Like as far as like
- 6:37Speaker 1: safety and everything that's going on, Like I know multiple
- 6:41Speaker 1: people that are close to me that have had issues
- 6:43Speaker 1: like you know, just stuff.
- 6:45Speaker 2: That going in Atlanta.
- 6:46Speaker 1: So I'm like, eh, I'm not ready for this, and
- 6:49Speaker 1: even highering twenty four hour security, It's like do I
- 6:51Speaker 1: really want to put that much trust into somebody else's hands?
- 6:54Speaker 1: Like it's just bill a whole nother bill for one,
- 6:58Speaker 1: but for two, it's like I don't know if if
- 7:00Speaker 1: I trust something that much, like somebody knowing my wares,
- 7:03Speaker 1: my INDs, my outs went time, I just don't know.
- 7:06Speaker 1: So I'm like, I want a condo, so go back
- 7:08Speaker 1: in time. I lost out completely on the earnest money
- 7:13Speaker 1: another time, and this time I tried to do it
- 7:15Speaker 1: different like get a lawyer involved, et cetera, etc. But
- 7:18Speaker 1: it wasn't really nothing I could do, so that was
- 7:21Speaker 1: just a lesson learned. I was very vocal about it
- 7:23Speaker 1: because I'm like, I just moved a little too fast
- 7:26Speaker 1: and I was totally new to buying homes. I just
- 7:29Speaker 1: remember when I brought my mom a home. We didn't
- 7:31Speaker 1: have to go through that because she was like, I
- 7:32Speaker 1: like this. I didn't really care about the finishes and
- 7:35Speaker 1: stuff as long as she was happy. So me learning
- 7:37Speaker 1: this process, I was very I paid so much attention
- 7:41Speaker 1: to this next purchase that I did get, which is
- 7:44Speaker 1: the home that I'm in now, And as soon as
- 7:46Speaker 1: I walked in, I loved it and I was like, Okay,
- 7:48Speaker 1: well we don't have to worry about going through that
- 7:50Speaker 1: process again. But it was like a completely different look
- 7:55Speaker 1: of how it looks now because it was like, if
- 7:57Speaker 1: you would see the house that I purchased, y'a would.
- 7:59Speaker 2: Probably be like, Jada, why did you waste your money?
- 8:01Speaker 1: But I saw the vision. I definitely like gutted it out,
- 8:06Speaker 1: renovated it from top to bottom, and it is.
- 8:09Speaker 2: My dream home now.
- 8:10Speaker 4: So renovated it.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Yeah, completely.
- 8:15Speaker 1: From top to bottom, like literally everything was tailored to
- 8:19Speaker 1: exactly what I wanted. And I was about to say
- 8:22Speaker 1: something else, I forgot God, dang it. Oh I actually
- 8:26Speaker 1: I did so much more value in the house, So
- 8:28Speaker 1: I got it a praise again just for my peace insanity,
- 8:30Speaker 1: just to see and yeah.
- 8:33Speaker 5: So yeah, I think the last time we spoke, I
- 8:35Speaker 5: was talking to you about de finishings because I was
- 8:39Speaker 5: designing my home as well. I was like, yo, I
- 8:41Speaker 5: love what you're doing. Keep going. You might have something
- 8:42Speaker 5: in interior design. Yeah, it's a valuable lesson. It's a
- 8:46Speaker 5: costly lesson.
- 8:48Speaker 3: I wonder, as you're watching people learn.
- 8:52Speaker 5: From your miss and you have your peers, are there
- 8:56Speaker 5: people that are guiding you that have been through experience.
- 8:59Speaker 3: I know you you had a realtive, but even like
- 9:01Speaker 3: some of your peals are maybe somebody that's older to say, hey,
- 9:04Speaker 3: let me help you. Are you just figuring these things
- 9:06Speaker 3: out on your own?
- 9:07Speaker 1: So I'm very independent to the point where I don't
- 9:10Speaker 1: really like asking questions. I'm getting out of that the
- 9:13Speaker 1: order I get because some of the mistakes that I'm
- 9:16Speaker 1: making can be detrimental. My aunt is really big into
- 9:20Speaker 1: real estate. She has like multiple properties, so she kind
- 9:22Speaker 1: of walked me through. But it was one of those
- 9:24Speaker 1: things like, girl, you already did it. It's nothing you
- 9:27Speaker 1: can do now to go back and fix this. You
- 9:29Speaker 1: made the decision, you signed the contract. You got to
- 9:31Speaker 1: eat it. You got to eat this mistake. Mind you.
- 9:34Speaker 2: You didn't do it once, you did it twice, so
- 9:36Speaker 2: it's on you now.
- 9:37Speaker 1: But I'm like, but it wasn't what I wanted.
- 9:39Speaker 2: And she like, it's on you. It's nothing you could do. Like,
- 9:41Speaker 2: you can't blame your real estate agent. You can't.
- 9:43Speaker 1: It's on you.
- 9:44Speaker 2: So yeah, but also I have a question.
- 9:48Speaker 1: So the real estate agent that I was using at
- 9:50Speaker 1: the time, they don't get paid Do they get paid
- 9:53Speaker 1: off the earnest money. I'm not really familiar with how
- 9:56Speaker 1: that process works.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Because she was it got to a.
- 10:00Speaker 1: Point where no, they don't, they don't know, So it
- 10:04Speaker 1: got to a point where she still wanted exactly how
- 10:07Speaker 1: much the house was worth her commission. It's a mission,
- 10:09Speaker 1: and I'm like, from you, but yeah, but I'm like,
- 10:11Speaker 1: I didn't because.
- 10:12Speaker 4: She's like, I worked this time, right, didn't get paid right.
- 10:15Speaker 1: So I was like, I'll give you something, but to
- 10:16Speaker 1: give you what the house was worth when I'm not
- 10:18Speaker 1: going to live in that house, I just didn't see
- 10:21Speaker 1: that making sense.
- 10:22Speaker 3: So that became another like battle, legal battle as well.
- 10:25Speaker 1: No, it didn't, okay, but I just wanted to know.
- 10:28Speaker 1: I just never really questioned it because I'm like, if
- 10:30Speaker 1: it comes up, it comes up.
- 10:33Speaker 4: This is a valuable lesson though, because even me, I'm
- 10:35Speaker 4: building a home and there's so much stuff that I
- 10:37Speaker 4: didn't know about real estate and a lot of mistakes
- 10:40Speaker 4: that I made in a learning process as far as
- 10:42Speaker 4: like building a home from scratch and learning about you know,
- 10:45Speaker 4: the grout that goes in between the towels and the
- 10:48Speaker 4: type of paint that you want to put on, and
- 10:50Speaker 4: you know, the finishing. Like you said, the kitchens and
- 10:51Speaker 4: stuff like that went to China and I got a
- 10:53Speaker 4: whole bunch of stuff. So you know, as you grow
- 10:57Speaker 4: a lot of time I don't think people understand that
- 10:59Speaker 4: this is it's always something to learn that you don't know.
- 11:02Speaker 4: And with the real estate, it could be very very costly,
- 11:06Speaker 4: like like for me, like I had a very very
- 11:09Speaker 4: costly mistake because I purchased land, but I didn't know
- 11:13Speaker 4: that it had a water like basement. It was pretty
- 11:16Speaker 4: much like it was. It was like a pond and
- 11:18Speaker 4: I had to put that underground. But that costs like
- 11:21Speaker 4: four hundred thousand dollars to put that underground. But that
- 11:24Speaker 4: wasn't on the actual typing.
- 11:26Speaker 1: That was something you ran into.
- 11:28Speaker 3: Yes, oh no.
- 11:29Speaker 4: So it's a lot that goes on.
- 11:31Speaker 1: It's so much and so many things come up in
- 11:33Speaker 1: the process that you kind of just hit with and
- 11:35Speaker 1: it's like you got to deal with it because if not,
- 11:37Speaker 1: you can't move forward. So I think those things should
- 11:40Speaker 1: be expressed as homeowners and I try to use my
- 11:43Speaker 1: platform as much as possible, like you know, renovating even
- 11:47Speaker 1: thinking that it's going to be done at a certain
- 11:49Speaker 1: time and you got to wait another year. Like all
- 11:51Speaker 1: those things are just surprises that you're hit with on
- 11:54Speaker 1: the journey.
- 11:55Speaker 2: It's like dang and.
- 11:56Speaker 4: The taxes, Oh, we just had a college up keep
- 12:01Speaker 4: maintenance away.
- 12:06Speaker 3: Property tax, school tax.
- 12:08Speaker 4: The HOA is bad, especially if you're in a bad
- 12:10Speaker 4: h Yeah, because they got to approve every.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Everything, every little thing, So even certain type of marbles
- 12:17Speaker 1: we want it.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Like, we got to run it by them. I'm like,
- 12:19Speaker 2: what is going in my house?
- 12:21Speaker 1: But the way, the way on the element, it's like,
- 12:23Speaker 1: what the heck are we doing.
- 12:25Speaker 5: Sometimes even when you're trying to renovate, you know, if
- 12:28Speaker 5: you're depending on where you're owned, it might be historical area,
- 12:32Speaker 5: you're not allowed to change certain things from the exterior.
- 12:34Speaker 3: I had a whole four month battle about a driveway.
- 12:37Speaker 2: Are you serious.
- 12:38Speaker 5: Yeah, they wouldn't let me pave it because it didn't
- 12:40Speaker 5: need town ordinance.
- 12:41Speaker 3: It was like a whole thing. I went there.
- 12:42Speaker 5: They were reading it wrong. But like these are the
- 12:44Speaker 5: things in every delay. Right, it's a four month process
- 12:47Speaker 5: to get the driveway, but that affects the next thing. Right,
- 12:50Speaker 5: the bank can't close it a loan because I can't
- 12:52Speaker 5: figure out finish a construction loan and then I gotta
- 12:55Speaker 5: pay interest fees. So every time it's the delay, Like
- 12:58Speaker 5: we just think from the outside, it's like, oh, it's
- 13:00Speaker 5: a delay.
- 13:01Speaker 3: Now that that cost my car every single month that
- 13:04Speaker 3: you got to just figure out. Right, it's either you
- 13:05Speaker 3: stop the project or you figure it out.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:09Speaker 1: And I actually was a kid going through this same
- 13:11Speaker 1: type of process with my dad and it was like
- 13:14Speaker 1: right when the recession hit and he just stopped the
- 13:17Speaker 1: project because and now I get it back then it's
- 13:20Speaker 1: like why would you you came this far? Why would
- 13:22Speaker 1: you stop? But it's like that shit is expensive, so
- 13:25Speaker 1: it just everything just makes sense to me now that
- 13:27Speaker 1: I'm older, looking from a different point of view, It's like, dang,
- 13:29Speaker 1: he he had to do what he had to do
- 13:31Speaker 1: in order to keep surviving and sustaining his regular life.
- 13:34Speaker 1: You know.
- 13:34Speaker 4: So, well, now that you are a homeowner, how do
- 13:38Speaker 4: you feel.
- 13:40Speaker 1: Totally worth it?
- 13:40Speaker 4: Worth it us?
- 13:41Speaker 1: That's why I said I got my house of praise
- 13:44Speaker 1: after you know, putting in and gutting everything out and
- 13:47Speaker 1: doing all these extraordinary things just for my peace insanity,
- 13:51Speaker 1: not that I'm going to sell my house, but just
- 13:53Speaker 1: to see like was this shit worth it? And it
- 13:56Speaker 1: was like I was just like wow.
- 13:57Speaker 2: So you know, just sitting on an asset feels good.
- 14:00Speaker 5: You know, there's no feeling like that. Like we have
- 14:02Speaker 5: this conversation I'm like, it'll be worth it. He looks
- 14:05Speaker 5: at me like I'm not sure, bro, No it is.
- 14:08Speaker 2: You just got to stick it out and I'm not
- 14:10Speaker 2: gonna lie.
- 14:10Speaker 1: Twenty twenty what were in twenty twenty six, twenty twenty five,
- 14:13Speaker 1: because I purchased in twenty twenty four. It was rough.
- 14:16Speaker 1: I was like, hold up back against the wall, like
- 14:20Speaker 1: skipping pricier and pricier, like what are we doing? And
- 14:23Speaker 1: now it's like I could finally breathe a game, you know,
- 14:25Speaker 1: and kind of just like WUSA now that I'm in it.
- 14:28Speaker 1: But I did, I couldn't see it through at first,
- 14:30Speaker 1: Like I was irritated, like right like always on edge
- 14:34Speaker 1: going to see it, upset with my contractors, taking it
- 14:36Speaker 1: out on them. But it's like they just doing what
- 14:38Speaker 1: they can, especially when you gotta wait on certain people
- 14:40Speaker 1: to give you the yay or name.
- 14:42Speaker 5: I watched Will Smith's he was talking about a movie,
- 14:45Speaker 5: but it kind of like residentially in terms of real estate.
- 14:48Speaker 5: He was saying how he met with a producer and
- 14:51Speaker 5: they were like, how are you doing with this new film?
- 14:53Speaker 5: And it's like we're about ninety percent done. He was like, Okay,
- 14:56Speaker 5: you're halfway there. And he was like what he was
- 15:00Speaker 5: like that ten percent to the finish line is going
- 15:04Speaker 5: to be the longest, most drawn out, most difficult, most
- 15:08Speaker 5: trying piece of the process. So just brace yourself to that.
- 15:13Speaker 5: And I'm like, damn when you think about ripens, right,
- 15:15Speaker 5: like everything, we almost at the finish line and here
- 15:18Speaker 5: we go with the nonsense.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Right.
- 15:20Speaker 3: Yeah, so I'm glad you got to go through it.
- 15:22Speaker 3: I'm glad.
- 15:23Speaker 5: I'm not glad that we're going through it and still
- 15:25Speaker 5: going through it, but people get to learn from it
- 15:27Speaker 5: and being transparent. Do you ever shy away from saying
- 15:30Speaker 5: to yourself, maybe I keep this away from my audience
- 15:33Speaker 5: or everything is, hey, let me share it because somebody
- 15:35Speaker 5: can learn.
- 15:36Speaker 1: Well, it just depends. I don't just something happened. I'm
- 15:40Speaker 1: instantly sharing. It's always a topic and it's like, okay,
- 15:44Speaker 1: I can touch on this now, just when the timing
- 15:46Speaker 1: is right. But you know, it's a lot of things
- 15:48Speaker 1: that I haven't shared that one day maybe I will.
- 15:51Speaker 1: It just has to be in conversation or makes sense.
- 15:53Speaker 4: So, yeah, talk about the clothing brand. It's taken off, right,
- 15:59Speaker 4: especially is the last time that we spoke, So what's
- 16:02Speaker 4: been the key to you think the success over the
- 16:05Speaker 4: last couple of years of your brand. I know you're
- 16:07Speaker 4: very vocal as far as promoting it. You're in a
- 16:11Speaker 4: lot of the ads. You have a lot of different
- 16:13Speaker 4: type of women plus size models. I've noticed though, types
- 16:16Speaker 4: of different like what you think is why it has
- 16:21Speaker 4: become so successful?
- 16:23Speaker 1: So from the start, So from the start, I was
- 16:28Speaker 1: doing it with my own warehouse, my own employees, and
- 16:31Speaker 1: just kind of working my way through the years and
- 16:34Speaker 1: just doing everything myself in house. Twenty twenty four, I
- 16:39Speaker 1: realized that I'm selling out. I'm doing the same things,
- 16:42Speaker 1: but I'm not scaling, I'm not growing. So we tried
- 16:45Speaker 1: to implement all these systems because with my beauty brand,
- 16:48Speaker 1: I learned so much with my beauty brand. I have
- 16:50Speaker 1: a partner with that brand, and we had a three
- 16:53Speaker 1: pl center. So I'm just seeing how things are moving
- 16:57Speaker 1: way quicker with my beauty brand, and like, what are
- 17:01Speaker 1: we doing so different that they're doing got their three
- 17:03Speaker 1: pl center that we're not doing at my warehouse. And
- 17:07Speaker 1: it was so many different answers for that question. So
- 17:10Speaker 1: I think opening up that business kind of opened my
- 17:13Speaker 1: eyes up to how things could actually work without having
- 17:15Speaker 1: to work so hard. So now I implemented that same
- 17:20Speaker 1: structure and systems for wait a minute, so I now
- 17:23Speaker 1: have a three pl center. I'm about to turn my
- 17:25Speaker 1: old warehouse that we were doing off of filment out
- 17:28Speaker 1: of into a creative space, and I just completely got
- 17:32Speaker 1: rid of trying to do orders in house, which now
- 17:34Speaker 1: I'm not limited to space, I'm not limited to my
- 17:38Speaker 1: employee attitudes, Like I don't have to deal with none
- 17:41Speaker 1: of that stuff anymore.
- 17:42Speaker 2: It just runs itself.
- 17:43Speaker 1: So that was when I really was able to like
- 17:45Speaker 1: scale tremendously and like just see things take off over
- 17:48Speaker 1: this last year. Like we jumped from one hundred thousand
- 17:50Speaker 1: orders to two hundred thousand orders within like less than
- 17:53Speaker 1: a year. So it just really like I had to.
- 17:57Speaker 1: Of course, it was hard because a lot of those
- 17:59Speaker 1: team members that I had, they were with me from
- 18:01Speaker 1: the start. A lot of college girls that I found
- 18:04Speaker 1: at like different events that I brought in and hied.
- 18:06Speaker 2: So it was real hard.
- 18:08Speaker 1: But at the end of the day, it's business and
- 18:10Speaker 1: you got to do what's best for you. I try
- 18:11Speaker 1: to like keep some of them on the team. It's
- 18:14Speaker 1: like virtually customer service logistics, like certain different roles that
- 18:19Speaker 1: they can still you know, be a part of the team.
- 18:21Speaker 1: But I just had to take that big leap of
- 18:23Speaker 1: faith and just step out and kind of you know,
- 18:26Speaker 1: I feel like we think we're able to do all
- 18:28Speaker 1: these things because it's easy. It's just shipping orders, packing labels,
- 18:33Speaker 1: but it's so much more that goes into it, Like
- 18:36Speaker 1: these people actually went to school to study this stuff.
- 18:38Speaker 1: I was hiring my family, my cousins, college girls to
- 18:43Speaker 1: just do these you know, play these roles that you
- 18:46Speaker 1: got to go to school for and really be skilled in.
- 18:48Speaker 1: So I think just honestly taking that leap of faith
- 18:51Speaker 1: and trying not to do everything in house myself is
- 18:54Speaker 1: what really helped me just grow over these last.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Couple of years.
- 18:56Speaker 5: Yeah, a lot of times we'll create businesses and they
- 18:59Speaker 5: might make money, but how do we grow.
- 19:01Speaker 3: I'm glad that you're talking about that. When I speak
- 19:04Speaker 3: to you, it feels like data.
- 19:07Speaker 5: Analytics is a thing that you really like, right when
- 19:10Speaker 5: we talk about social media, you know, all the data
- 19:13Speaker 5: when it comes to wait a minute, is it the
- 19:14Speaker 5: same type of passion that has transcended from social media
- 19:18Speaker 5: into your businesses?
- 19:20Speaker 2: And I love AI.
- 19:22Speaker 1: It has truly helped me sustain and keep growing. Over
- 19:27Speaker 1: these last couple of months, I just got into it.
- 19:28Speaker 1: I used to be against AI, y'all, like bad everything was.
- 19:31Speaker 1: I know it's bad, I think because I look at
- 19:36Speaker 1: the you know, I'm a very empathetic person, but I
- 19:39Speaker 1: look at like the creative and all the roles that
- 19:41Speaker 1: are trying are going to be replaced because we have
- 19:44Speaker 1: this new tool. But it's like you're either gonna fall
- 19:47Speaker 1: short or fall behind because this is what the new
- 19:50Speaker 1: norm is going to become. So I just kind of started,
- 19:52Speaker 1: you know, relying on it more as far as data
- 19:55Speaker 1: and projecting how many or how much inventory I need
- 19:59Speaker 1: to have for this next drop based off the last drop,
- 20:01Speaker 1: like actually using the data to help me keep things
- 20:05Speaker 1: going rather than me just playing restro roulette with your platform?
- 20:09Speaker 3: Are you using for for your your AI? Like is
- 20:12Speaker 3: it are you using like Claude?
- 20:15Speaker 1: I love Claude. Okay, I'm against tragy PT. This is
- 20:18Speaker 1: gonna get controversial. No, let me not say that I'm
- 20:20Speaker 1: a Claude girl.
- 20:21Speaker 3: Okay.
- 20:22Speaker 1: I feel like Claude is way more personal. It's just
- 20:24Speaker 1: overall a better experience. And I also have a bot,
- 20:28Speaker 1: so that helps me out a lot. Keep everything in
- 20:31Speaker 1: one place.
- 20:31Speaker 4: You created a bot like an agent for yourself, and
- 20:35Speaker 4: that that helps you with your business, keep.
- 20:37Speaker 1: All my data store, just help me keep everything. And
- 20:39Speaker 1: then I'm also Shopify Pro. So being Shopify Pro, I
- 20:43Speaker 1: have like my own robot within Shopify that kind of
- 20:46Speaker 1: just give me all my analytics everything.
- 20:48Speaker 3: Yeah, they just announced that.
- 20:50Speaker 5: So did you have to reach a certain metric to
- 20:52Speaker 5: be a Shopify Pro? I know, and I should say congratulations.
- 20:56Speaker 5: One hundred thousand orders, that's nothing to see, is that congratulation?
- 20:58Speaker 5: Two hundred thousand even I've even more congratulations? But is
- 21:01Speaker 5: there a certain threshold you have to reach it to
- 21:03Speaker 5: qualify that?
- 21:04Speaker 1: Now that? I don't know. I think it's just what
- 21:08Speaker 1: you pay for in volume it was offered to me.
- 21:10Speaker 1: I don't know if there was like a certain time
- 21:12Speaker 1: period when it happened, but it happened pretty quick, so
- 21:14Speaker 1: I can't say certain thresholder, I don't.
- 21:18Speaker 2: I don't really know.
- 21:18Speaker 3: I want to know about the chat GBT thing. Oh,
- 21:21Speaker 3: it's what's up.
- 21:22Speaker 1: It's a bot that I got implemented. And why you're
- 21:25Speaker 1: against Oh, I just think it's just.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Basic.
- 21:31Speaker 1: It's a little surface. I think Claude is a little
- 21:34Speaker 1: bit more structured to like go into detail. And it
- 21:37Speaker 1: also because at first when I had my bot, I
- 21:40Speaker 1: was using chat GBT and it was just like no personality.
- 21:45Speaker 2: It wasn't really we weren't resonating.
- 21:47Speaker 1: Well. So then when I got Claude, you can like
- 21:50Speaker 1: add all these things into your bot, and now it's
- 21:53Speaker 1: just like it's like talking to my homegirl, you know,
- 21:56Speaker 1: so like she talks like me, she responds like me.
- 21:59Speaker 1: It's just really such a whole different experience than chagipt.
- 22:02Speaker 3: That's right for the.
- 22:05Speaker 4: For the For the Claude, are you asking it like
- 22:09Speaker 4: creative ideas, like bouncing ideas off of it, or you
- 22:12Speaker 4: just feeding in information and just say okay, like guide
- 22:16Speaker 4: me here. Is it a combination of both.
- 22:18Speaker 1: I use it strictly for data, okay, data analytics helping
- 22:22Speaker 1: me decide how many pieces of like certain sizes I
- 22:26Speaker 1: need to drop, going into like old old drop, seeing
- 22:29Speaker 1: what I need to change to like make this certain
- 22:32Speaker 1: amount of money.
- 22:33Speaker 2: So I just strictly data.
- 22:34Speaker 1: As far as creatives, I'm never gonna lose sight of
- 22:37Speaker 1: that because I think that's what that's why people like
- 22:40Speaker 1: the brands. It's because I'm so like adamant about my vision.
- 22:45Speaker 1: This is how I want it to look, this is
- 22:46Speaker 1: how I want things to be so and I have
- 22:49Speaker 1: a great creative team that helps me bring these ideas
- 22:52Speaker 1: that I have to life.
- 22:52Speaker 4: So just data, So you don't use AI creative Yeah, no, okay,
- 22:58Speaker 4: because you know I use the Yata design my house.
- 23:01Speaker 4: One thing we always say on this show is that
- 23:03Speaker 4: you have to be more intentional about your money.
- 23:06Speaker 5: Because it's not about how much you make, it's about
- 23:08Speaker 5: how you manage the money you spend exactly.
- 23:10Speaker 4: That's why tools like Clana are interesting because it gives
- 23:13Speaker 4: you flexibility when managing your purchases.
- 23:16Speaker 5: When checking out, you can decide how you want to pay,
- 23:18Speaker 5: whether that's paying everything right away or spreading out payments
- 23:22Speaker 5: depending on what works for you.
- 23:23Speaker 4: Everything's organized in a Klana app, and when you shop,
- 23:27Speaker 4: you have the opportunity to receive cash back bonuses for
- 23:30Speaker 4: the purchases that you make. Download the Klana app today
- 23:33Speaker 4: or go to klana dot com for more info.
- 23:35Speaker 5: Terms apply California resident loans made or arrange pursuing to
- 23:39Speaker 5: a California Finance Law License NMLS number one three five
- 23:43Speaker 5: three one nine zero Cliner Balance Account required to be
- 23:46Speaker 5: eligible for cash back points. Limitations terms and conditions apply.
- 23:50Speaker 4: Oh really yeah, chat GBT. So I was working with
- 23:53Speaker 4: it in terry design and she was giving me ideas
- 23:56Speaker 4: and I wasn't really loving any of the ideas, and
- 23:59Speaker 4: I just went on chat g and I took some
- 24:00Speaker 4: inspirational pictures and I just feed it. Then within one hour,
- 24:04Speaker 4: it designed the exterior of my house.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Are you serious?
- 24:07Speaker 4: And I gave it to my contract and that's the
- 24:09Speaker 4: that's what I built. And they had never seen a look,
- 24:12Speaker 4: they'd never seen it before. They're like this, it's like,
- 24:15Speaker 4: who came up with this? I'm like, tat GBT came
- 24:17Speaker 4: up with it?
- 24:17Speaker 1: Wow.
- 24:18Speaker 4: So I think from a creative standpoint, I think that
- 24:22Speaker 4: it's like I hate to use an analogy, but it's
- 24:25Speaker 4: like steroids, like you gotta already be strong, absolutely, but
- 24:29Speaker 4: it enhances like a performance enhancer, Like I think the
- 24:32Speaker 4: creatives that really start to it doesn't take away from
- 24:36Speaker 4: your creative ability.
- 24:37Speaker 2: It just helped bring it to life a little quicker.
- 24:39Speaker 1: A little quicker. Yeah, I mean my team probably used it.
- 24:42Speaker 1: I just have these ideas and they bring me back,
- 24:44Speaker 1: like these documents and templates of how things are gonna look.
- 24:48Speaker 1: But I mean, I me personally, I just kind of
- 24:50Speaker 1: give them my ideas. But it can help, it can
- 24:52Speaker 1: be useful for everything. And I having a terior designer too,
- 24:55Speaker 1: and I just kind of give them my ideas as well,
- 24:57Speaker 1: and then he brings me back vision boards. So I'm
- 24:59Speaker 1: pretty su are huge. So it's like the same thing.
- 25:02Speaker 5: I took everything in real estate, I told them in finance,
- 25:06Speaker 5: like natural intelligence with artificial intelligence.
- 25:11Speaker 3: That combination is dangerous.
- 25:13Speaker 5: Like I've seen portfolios just increase over time because of
- 25:17Speaker 5: the notch that they have when it's incorporated. The idea
- 25:22Speaker 5: of you using AI, I think it's pretty dope because
- 25:25Speaker 5: I don't think i've heard anybody and your generation that's
- 25:28Speaker 5: using it in terms of business.
- 25:30Speaker 3: When you're amongst your peers, is this conversation.
- 25:33Speaker 5: Are people talking about how they're going to incorporate it
- 25:35Speaker 5: or do you feel like, hmm, I might be the.
- 25:38Speaker 1: Only one, the only one for sure. Yeah. And I
- 25:42Speaker 1: learned about this from my partners at the gym. Like
- 25:44Speaker 1: I work out with guys and they're like super tech guys,
- 25:48Speaker 1: and it's also some beauty and working out with guys
- 25:49Speaker 1: because it also just fuels me because like, y'all not
- 25:51Speaker 1: about to have me looking weak. So, but not only that,
- 25:54Speaker 1: the conversations and just hearing like their mindsets and like
- 25:56Speaker 1: the things that they're implemented to their businesses and stuff.
- 25:59Speaker 1: So he was talking about a boy and he spent
- 26:02Speaker 1: all this money front flying this guy from Malibu in
- 26:05Speaker 1: and I'm like, hold up, put me down. How much
- 26:07Speaker 1: was it?
- 26:08Speaker 3: I think I know what you're speaking of him, and.
- 26:09Speaker 1: I'm like, okay, I'll turn me on. And ever since
- 26:12Speaker 1: then my life has completely, like completely changed, and I
- 26:16Speaker 1: have saved like over hundreds of thousands just within this
- 26:19Speaker 1: last like a couple months that I've had it, just
- 26:22Speaker 1: running everything by it, and they're like, no, this is wrong.
- 26:25Speaker 1: They said ten percent. But it's calculated out like just
- 26:29Speaker 1: stuff that I would, you know, miss, you know, because
- 26:31Speaker 1: I just handle like all financials and stuff myself. I
- 26:33Speaker 1: do have a CPA, but it's easy for humans to
- 26:37Speaker 1: miss stuff, you know. So having a robot that is
- 26:41Speaker 1: like all they do is study dat as a number.
- 26:43Speaker 5: This story is interesting because we might have the same
- 26:45Speaker 5: mutual friend. He literally told me the same story about Yo,
- 26:48Speaker 5: you need to use opraen claud, you need to use
- 26:50Speaker 5: open claud I'm flying this guy from Malibu when he's
- 26:52Speaker 5: staying with me, and by the time I had spoken
- 26:55Speaker 5: to him next he was like, yo, open care is
- 26:57Speaker 5: my life. During that conversation, I'm telling him how to
- 27:00Speaker 5: in the companies that are actually creating it, and now
- 27:02Speaker 5: he's to become obsessed with that.
- 27:03Speaker 1: I'm so like, it's bad. I am, I'm ai obsessed
- 27:07Speaker 1: like I it's but everything every I mean every day
- 27:10Speaker 1: it is something new that they establish and that you
- 27:13Speaker 1: can implement into your by or in to your company.
- 27:15Speaker 2: It's like never ending.
- 27:17Speaker 4: Did your son useah, no, okay, not yet, not yet
- 27:22Speaker 4: making juices?
- 27:23Speaker 3: Man?
- 27:23Speaker 1: Yeah, he's yeah, he's not into that stuff yet, but
- 27:26Speaker 1: he will.
- 27:27Speaker 2: I could just tell.
- 27:28Speaker 4: Shop shop Pro just explain, like what's the difference between
- 27:32Speaker 4: like a regular Shopify and like the perks that you
- 27:34Speaker 4: may get with.
- 27:35Speaker 3: The pro account.
- 27:36Speaker 1: So the Pro account they give you like a rep
- 27:39Speaker 1: that you can call any time, any day, any place.
- 27:43Speaker 2: They're always going to answer.
- 27:44Speaker 1: So just say, for instance, we're having an issue with
- 27:46Speaker 1: our store and something is glitching. My tech girl can't
- 27:50Speaker 1: figure it out. Normally she figures it out, but if
- 27:52Speaker 1: we ever just need to hop on, we could just
- 27:54Speaker 1: give them a call, and then you also get that
- 27:56Speaker 1: AI robot.
- 27:57Speaker 2: I don't know if it's for.
- 27:59Speaker 1: All stores, but I do think it's just a Shopify
- 28:01Speaker 1: pro thing. But that just came about within like the
- 28:04Speaker 1: last couple months. It wasn't always there, but mainly just
- 28:08Speaker 1: that store rep. You spoke about, oh Andy, it's cheaper
- 28:13Speaker 1: a month.
- 28:15Speaker 5: You spoke about the team, and I think this is important.
- 28:17Speaker 5: The team that you started with may not be the
- 28:19Speaker 5: team that's gonna get you to the next level. Hiring cousins,
- 28:22Speaker 5: hiring friends. When that when you realize that that's no
- 28:26Speaker 5: longer gonna work, how are you able to handle that?
- 28:29Speaker 3: Right?
- 28:30Speaker 5: Because there's something that we've encountered where we had friends
- 28:34Speaker 5: that worked with us and we realized that we put
- 28:37Speaker 5: them in a position where they probably weren't going to
- 28:39Speaker 5: succeed because it wasn't their skill set. Have you had
- 28:42Speaker 5: to encounter that, How did the relationship stay strong or
- 28:46Speaker 5: was it Hey, I'm going to the next level.
- 28:49Speaker 3: Everybody may not be able to.
- 28:50Speaker 1: I think it's just a mutual agreement that it's like,
- 28:53Speaker 1: it's nothing you can say if it just doesn't align anymore.
- 28:58Speaker 1: And as a business woman, you just have to have
- 29:00Speaker 1: that mindset that like, it's not about nobody else. And
- 29:03Speaker 1: I think I helped myself back two years prior to
- 29:07Speaker 1: me making that final decision because I was stuck on loyalty.
- 29:10Speaker 1: I was stuck on not wanting to make anybody mad
- 29:12Speaker 1: at me. But now it's like, you gotta do what's
- 29:15Speaker 1: best for you. I have a child, I have a
- 29:18Speaker 1: legacy I'm building. I can't worry about what somebody else
- 29:21Speaker 1: is gonna be mad about.
- 29:22Speaker 4: So well, speaking in that vein of relationships, another thing
- 29:26Speaker 4: you post on social media as for is you had
- 29:28Speaker 4: an epiphany that you had to change some of the
- 29:30Speaker 4: people that you was around because how people were perceiving you.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 29:34Speaker 4: Right, and it's like birds of a feather flock together.
- 29:37Speaker 4: That's like what they say, Have you made that change?
- 29:43Speaker 4: And like what really, like what was the driving for
- 29:46Speaker 4: I know you're saying like it was how like some
- 29:47Speaker 4: guys was coming up to you and approaching you, But like,
- 29:49Speaker 4: what was that moment when you really just sat down,
- 29:52Speaker 4: Like the way that I'm being perceived is not who
- 29:56Speaker 4: I actually am and who I want to actual the
- 29:58Speaker 4: world to see.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Well, I think for so long, I always have the
- 30:01Speaker 1: mindset of like I can do whatever, I can hang
- 30:04Speaker 1: around whoever. That's not me, because that's not that's not
- 30:07Speaker 1: who I am, that's not how I act. But the
- 30:09Speaker 1: more I started establishing like solid relationships business friends, corporate friends,
- 30:14Speaker 1: It's like, wow, I like these conversations. I can align
- 30:17Speaker 1: with these conversations a lot more than the conversations that
- 30:21Speaker 1: I can have in the club, you know what I'm saying.
- 30:23Speaker 2: So I just started paying more attention and just.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Being more intentional overall with like the things I partake
- 30:28Speaker 1: in during the week, the things that I want to
- 30:30Speaker 1: talk about sit and discuss, and then you just realize
- 30:32Speaker 1: a lot of things just lack substance. It's like I
- 30:35Speaker 1: don't want to keep feeding stuff like that. That's not
- 30:37Speaker 1: helping me grow. So I just started doing a lot
- 30:39Speaker 1: of clipping, Like I had to start clipping, and.
- 30:43Speaker 2: It's just it's been working for me.
- 30:44Speaker 1: It's a little you know, you get a little bored sometimes,
- 30:47Speaker 1: but I think being bored is good.
- 30:49Speaker 4: The clipping. You just start ghosting people.
- 30:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it's simple, it's but it's it's like a mutual.
- 30:57Speaker 1: It's mutual because it's like if I'm not nobody's going
- 30:59Speaker 1: to keep blowing when you up. After you just they
- 31:01Speaker 1: realized that, Okay, she's not responding, you know, so it's like,
- 31:04Speaker 1: all right, it's over it.
- 31:06Speaker 3: How's the reception when you walk? Because you do have partners,
- 31:09Speaker 3: and I wonder how you approach that.
- 31:11Speaker 5: How has the reception been I guess since we last
- 31:14Speaker 5: saw you, right, So obviously it's been growth in business,
- 31:17Speaker 5: obviously has been growth in you. On the personal side.
- 31:19Speaker 5: Are partners looking at you differently? Are they approaching you differently?
- 31:22Speaker 5: Are they taking you more serious than who they thought
- 31:25Speaker 5: they were seeing on social media back then?
- 31:27Speaker 1: Absolutely? So that that also plays a part, And like
- 31:31Speaker 1: everything has to change around me because I'm now dealing
- 31:34Speaker 1: with people that are way more skilled, way more They
- 31:38Speaker 1: got way more years, way more leverage. So it's like,
- 31:41Speaker 1: in order for me to be taking that serious, I
- 31:43Speaker 1: have to show up like that, and you know, I'm
- 31:46Speaker 1: still young. In turn, I'm not saying I'm not so
- 31:50Speaker 1: things happen, but I'm just that That's why I spoke
- 31:52Speaker 1: about earlier, like just me becoming more skilled and knowledgeable
- 31:56Speaker 1: so that I could show up and know exactly what
- 31:57Speaker 1: I'm talking about, and when I'm agreeing to think, I
- 32:00Speaker 1: know what I'm agreeing to. So it's just all about,
- 32:02Speaker 1: you know, kind of studying the things that you want
- 32:05Speaker 1: to stand behind.
- 32:07Speaker 4: Okay, how do you balance because obviously you're a very
- 32:10Speaker 4: intelligent person, but obviously you know, like you said, you're
- 32:13Speaker 4: a young intern as well, right, and you are an influencer, right,
- 32:17Speaker 4: and you know, sexuality might be part of that as
- 32:20Speaker 4: far as like how you could dress as a certain
- 32:21Speaker 4: times stuff like that. So when you are dealing in
- 32:23Speaker 4: corporate environments or dealing with you know, men or even women, right, Like,
- 32:27Speaker 4: how do you balance that because that's not something that
- 32:30Speaker 4: men have don't have to worry about. We don't have
- 32:32Speaker 4: to worry about like how somebody's looking at us if
- 32:34Speaker 4: they're sexually objectifying us. Right, what's your thought as you
- 32:39Speaker 4: get older, Like how do you think about those things
- 32:43Speaker 4: as like balancing your online persona and then being a mother,
- 32:49Speaker 4: being a business woman and being respected.
- 32:53Speaker 1: I think that just has to do with morals and
- 32:56Speaker 1: just how you're raised and how you carry yourself as
- 32:58Speaker 1: a woman. Uh cause at the end of the day,
- 33:01Speaker 1: I like I said, I'm young at her, you know,
- 33:03Speaker 1: I just that's just what it is. But I just
- 33:05Speaker 1: I know when to switch things on and off, and
- 33:08Speaker 1: all of the partners that I have there men, they're
- 33:10Speaker 1: all men. I don't have any like women partners on
- 33:13Speaker 1: my team. Yet I'm actually in communication with one. She's
- 33:17Speaker 1: it's actually crazy how this just came about. But she's
- 33:20Speaker 1: also she's actually trying to buy one of my companies.
- 33:23Speaker 1: So she's a lady, and I am just so stunned
- 33:26Speaker 1: to just hear more from her. So that's something exciting
- 33:29Speaker 1: that's happening right now. But everyone's men, and I think
- 33:33Speaker 1: I know how to respect myself and respect others to
- 33:35Speaker 1: where I'm not trying to like give off certain energies.
- 33:38Speaker 1: So it's just all about, you know, balance and knowing
- 33:41Speaker 1: when I think social media is a whole different person
- 33:44Speaker 1: from how I show up in the real world. A
- 33:46Speaker 1: lot of people don't even know I can have these
- 33:48Speaker 1: type of conversations just because of what I post. So
- 33:51Speaker 1: I do have like different outlets, like I got back
- 33:53Speaker 1: onto YouTube where I just get on there and talk
- 33:54Speaker 1: about like business, I talk about everything on YouTube. But
- 33:57Speaker 1: it just lets people see a different version of me
- 33:59Speaker 1: that they don't just see off of a picture that
- 34:03Speaker 1: or a clip or a Instagram post, you know. So
- 34:06Speaker 1: there's so much more substance, and I think you just
- 34:09Speaker 1: have to if you know, you know, it's one of
- 34:10Speaker 1: those type of things.
- 34:12Speaker 5: We just had a conversation with Pinky Cole and kind
- 34:15Speaker 5: of demisifying some of the myths of having a business
- 34:18Speaker 5: selling a business. At the time we first met you,
- 34:21Speaker 5: it was creating a business. Now, this conversation that maybe
- 34:24Speaker 5: somebody's interested in investing in the business or acquiring the business, did.
- 34:30Speaker 3: You prepare for that?
- 34:31Speaker 5: Is that something that was on your mind or it's
- 34:33Speaker 5: just been an opportunity that's been presented, and hey, let's
- 34:36Speaker 5: see what.
- 34:36Speaker 3: This is about.
- 34:38Speaker 2: It was never something that I thought of.
- 34:41Speaker 1: I just it's just one of those things that it's like,
- 34:43Speaker 1: you don't get to that point where somebody really wants
- 34:46Speaker 1: to buy your company. So now I've been thinking about
- 34:49Speaker 1: it with all my companies because I'm like, dang, if
- 34:51Speaker 1: this is here already, just imagine where the other ones
- 34:55Speaker 1: are going to go, you know. So I never thought
- 34:58Speaker 1: about it up until recently. So I can't say I'm
- 35:00Speaker 1: going to do it, but it is something that I've
- 35:02Speaker 1: been in conversation about.
- 35:04Speaker 2: But it's like, these are my.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Babies, especially way a minute it's like I built this,
- 35:09Speaker 1: like I didn't have any venture capital, I didn't have
- 35:12Speaker 1: anybody giving me a blessing.
- 35:14Speaker 2: I didn't have like this was something I built.
- 35:16Speaker 1: So to say I.
- 35:18Speaker 2: Want to get rid of it, it's just like, how's
- 35:20Speaker 2: that does?
- 35:21Speaker 1: How's that going to look for me?
- 35:24Speaker 4: How important is it to put creators because you're also
- 35:27Speaker 4: a content creator as well to really, you know, maximize
- 35:32Speaker 4: the audience because a lot of people have followers and
- 35:35Speaker 4: they don't they're.
- 35:36Speaker 3: Not making any money.
- 35:37Speaker 4: Like you have followers, but you have businesses and you
- 35:41Speaker 4: know you're targeting, you know, but it's not it is
- 35:44Speaker 4: a thin line because you don't want to become too salesy.
- 35:47Speaker 4: Then people are like, that's not why I originally followed
- 35:49Speaker 4: the person. So how important is that? And how do
- 35:52Speaker 4: you balance as far as running a business promoting your business?
- 35:57Speaker 4: But it's not overdoing it the point where it looks
- 36:00Speaker 4: like it's just to ad every single day.
- 36:05Speaker 2: You gotta just feed feed everything.
- 36:09Speaker 1: So I like to just show lifestyle. I like to
- 36:12Speaker 1: show me being a mom. It's so many layers to me,
- 36:15Speaker 1: so I think it's important to just show everything. But
- 36:19Speaker 1: you know, of course, not like everything, but everything in moderation,
- 36:24Speaker 1: do everything in moderation. So you might not get a
- 36:26Speaker 1: cooking video every night, but I'm gonna just sprinkle it
- 36:29Speaker 1: in there that like, oh shoot she could cook too,
- 36:31Speaker 1: Oh shoot, she actually has a relationship with her son.
- 36:34Speaker 1: It's you know what I'm saying. So it's like just
- 36:36Speaker 1: kind of giving them every layer in pieces and not
- 36:39Speaker 1: just overly just focusing on my businesses, because honestly, that's
- 36:43Speaker 1: how I would I wish it could be like that
- 36:45Speaker 1: where I only got to get on to post my businesses.
- 36:47Speaker 1: But now it's set up to where people don't want
- 36:50Speaker 1: to buy into you unless they feel like they genuinely
- 36:52Speaker 1: know you.
- 36:52Speaker 3: Well.
- 36:52Speaker 4: I think that's the thing. I think you Pinky Tabitha Brown,
- 36:57Speaker 4: different people, but it's similar. People buy into the person.
- 37:00Speaker 4: They're buying it to the person first, yeah, and then
- 37:04Speaker 4: the product second, right where they actually you're showing your life,
- 37:07Speaker 4: You're showing you know, Okay, this is my son, this
- 37:10Speaker 4: is this, this is that, this is the mistakes I
- 37:12Speaker 4: made with real estate, and now it's enduring to the
- 37:15Speaker 4: hearts of people. I think that's important for content creators
- 37:18Speaker 4: to know, Like especially I think obviously a lot of
- 37:20Speaker 4: women and people are following them for guidance because they
- 37:24Speaker 4: feel like they know the person, they really have an
- 37:26Speaker 4: emotional attachment. It's easier from a business standpoint than to
- 37:30Speaker 4: just say, Okay, this is a transactional relationship.
- 37:34Speaker 1: Yeah, And it's actually getting a little harder nowadays because
- 37:37Speaker 1: it's like if you're not showing everything, they either gonna
- 37:41Speaker 1: bully you to say everything or show everything, or they
- 37:44Speaker 1: just gonna start rocking with you. So it's just a
- 37:47Speaker 1: lot being a content creator or an entrepreneur now with
- 37:51Speaker 1: your face on the brand, because it's like they want more.
- 37:54Speaker 1: It's like, why you want us to buy?
- 37:57Speaker 2: Show us everything.
- 37:58Speaker 1: And I think that's the battle that I'm dealing with
- 38:00Speaker 1: now because it's like I can't get on social media
- 38:03Speaker 1: every day with y'all and talk to y'all like I
- 38:04Speaker 1: don't have it in me. I'll post a YouTube video
- 38:06Speaker 1: and they're like, this is not long enough twenty minutes.
- 38:09Speaker 2: I'm like, hold on, like being glad.
- 38:11Speaker 1: I'm giving y'all the twenty minutes because I and I
- 38:13Speaker 1: like to do all my editing everything myself, so it's
- 38:16Speaker 1: like y'all better take what I'm giving y'all. But it's
- 38:19Speaker 1: like they just it's never enough, but it works, you
- 38:21Speaker 1: know because those people that eventually turns into a sale.
- 38:25Speaker 3: So is there any intentionality in that? When you think
- 38:28Speaker 3: of how long people have been watching you.
- 38:31Speaker 5: Those young women are now mothers, they work nine to five,
- 38:37Speaker 5: they got the twenty minute video. So you're living in
- 38:40Speaker 5: a life and they're growing and living in a life too.
- 38:42Speaker 5: Is it intentionality?
- 38:43Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 38:43Speaker 5: I do cook, I have to feed my son and
- 38:45Speaker 5: he has to have bad We might have to read
- 38:46Speaker 5: a book tonight. They're doing that in their real lives
- 38:49Speaker 5: as well as they're growing. Is their intentionality to show like, hey,
- 38:53Speaker 5: my audience, you can grow.
- 38:54Speaker 3: We're all growing in this space together.
- 38:56Speaker 1: I wouldn't say there's intention I just think I like
- 38:58Speaker 1: to show people that I'm real, I'm human, I am
- 39:02Speaker 1: not perfect. I make mistakes, and I like to just
- 39:05Speaker 1: document everything because I like to look back and reflect
- 39:09Speaker 1: on my growth myself. And the only reason I really
- 39:11Speaker 1: started YouTube is because one day it was Lent and
- 39:14Speaker 1: I gave up social media for Lent. So I wasn't
- 39:17Speaker 1: on social media Monday through Thursday. So Monday through thursdays,
- 39:20Speaker 1: I just would like lock in with my bot data, studying,
- 39:25Speaker 1: just my business so it just gave me more time
- 39:28Speaker 1: to sit and ponder on the things that I actually
- 39:31Speaker 1: enjoyed doing. So I started going down my YouTube and
- 39:34Speaker 1: just looking at my first video of me releasing my brand,
- 39:38Speaker 1: I'm like, dang, I didn't have so many other releases
- 39:42Speaker 1: that I never even captured, and I'm just like, living
- 39:45Speaker 1: my life existing things need to start being back documented because.
- 39:51Speaker 2: My life too lit to not be documented.
- 39:53Speaker 1: So I'm like, you know what, I'm about to just
- 39:55Speaker 1: prop my phone up and just start back talking. Because
- 39:57Speaker 1: just watching that video of me when I first released,
- 39:59Speaker 1: it made four hundred thousand and sales within.
- 40:01Speaker 2: Like two hours, Like that's fire.
- 40:03Speaker 1: That's what people want to see from then to now,
- 40:06Speaker 1: like and it just it just inspired me so much.
- 40:08Speaker 2: So I just got back on YouTube.
- 40:11Speaker 4: What have you learned from being a leader in the
- 40:13Speaker 4: last couple of years? Right, Like with's some of the
- 40:15Speaker 4: leadership lessons that you've you've learned as a CEO.
- 40:20Speaker 1: I think you have to do what works for you.
- 40:22Speaker 1: That's like the biggest lesson. Stop looking at other people's
- 40:26Speaker 1: journeys and thinking that yours is going to look like that,
- 40:28Speaker 1: because it's we're all different. We're all gonna go through
- 40:32Speaker 1: things differently. It's just everybody just got a different story.
- 40:36Speaker 1: So I think that's the main thing. And then also
- 40:38Speaker 1: focusing on my campaign, focusing on my community, and stop
- 40:42Speaker 1: worrying about the outside noise. I think I at one
- 40:46Speaker 1: point I got like way too caught up in like
- 40:48Speaker 1: what everybody is saying, the criticism, the scrutiny, and it's
- 40:51Speaker 1: like that will stop.
- 40:53Speaker 2: You from making so much money.
- 40:54Speaker 1: For instance, I had this stripe outfit that I was releasing,
- 40:59Speaker 1: and I always loved to tease my pieces, So when
- 41:01Speaker 1: I teased my piece the outfit, I got so much backlash,
- 41:05Speaker 1: like we're people wearing this too. Ain't nobody wearing this
- 41:08Speaker 1: to the club?
- 41:08Speaker 2: Where are you supposed to wear this?
- 41:10Speaker 1: And that outfit sold out and I had to restock
- 41:13Speaker 1: it because it did so well, and now they got
- 41:15Speaker 1: all these dupes of the outfit and everybody begging me
- 41:18Speaker 1: to restock it. But like that just goes to show say,
- 41:20Speaker 1: for instance, I would have posted that snippet or that
- 41:22Speaker 1: sneak peek, and because the comments they were so bad, y'all,
- 41:25Speaker 1: like I was like, maybe y'all should start production on this,
- 41:27Speaker 1: like it was bad. I never questioned an outfit as
- 41:30Speaker 1: much as I questioned that one, and I was like, no,
- 41:33Speaker 1: I'm standing on it. I like it this, I actually
- 41:36Speaker 1: like it. And we about to make this a trend
- 41:38Speaker 1: to wear collar shirts in the club.
- 41:41Speaker 2: And what did we do? The girls started wearing collar
- 41:44Speaker 2: shirts everywhere in the club. Yeah.
- 41:49Speaker 1: But yeah, so it's like you just you gotta block
- 41:53Speaker 1: that out because you'll lose so much money listening to
- 41:55Speaker 1: what people with no credentials got to say, Yeah.
- 41:59Speaker 3: People who've done that thing usually have the most to say.
- 42:01Speaker 5: Literally, we we've watched the pop ups, they evolved, right,
- 42:06Speaker 5: I remember the pink truck and the line wrapped around
- 42:11Speaker 5: four blocks. Maybe more could be undershooting it. Where are
- 42:15Speaker 5: we at now in terms of pop ups?
- 42:17Speaker 3: Are there going to be more?
- 42:18Speaker 5: Is their potential like for a brick and mortar, so
- 42:21Speaker 5: people can come to the store and maybe running to you,
- 42:24Speaker 5: maybe see you like what we think in.
- 42:26Speaker 1: Terms of that So twenty twenty six, I wrote on
- 42:29Speaker 1: my board back in twenty twenty four, twenty twenty six,
- 42:32Speaker 1: I want to do more pop ups, but I know
- 42:33Speaker 1: what's going to take time as far as inventory and
- 42:36Speaker 1: having inventory for e comm and having inventory for an
- 42:38Speaker 1: actual store front. I wasn't there yet. Now I'm able
- 42:42Speaker 1: to do these things. So I'm having a pop up,
- 42:45Speaker 1: my first one, which is actually going to be powered
- 42:47Speaker 1: by Shopify, and soho. The end of well coming up
- 42:51Speaker 1: soon I'm not gonna say exactly okay, but coming up
- 42:54Speaker 1: really soon, and I'm excited. I think it's gonna be
- 42:57Speaker 1: so big it's going to inspire me to actually one
- 43:00Speaker 1: day want to brick and mortar. But right now, I
- 43:02Speaker 1: just don't like the overhead the thought of it.
- 43:04Speaker 2: So eCOM is just the easiest way.
- 43:07Speaker 4: You're thinking, like a hybrid model where it's just it's
- 43:09Speaker 4: in other stores, not necessarily your own store, but like
- 43:13Speaker 4: you know, another retail store.
- 43:16Speaker 1: Definitely would have it. Definitely that's easier, but it's also
- 43:21Speaker 1: like that's a whole nother ball game with inventory and
- 43:26Speaker 1: breaking up the percentage and having mass quantities to go
- 43:30Speaker 1: global to all the different stores. But it is definitely
- 43:33Speaker 1: something I want to work towards.
- 43:36Speaker 5: What takes the most focused right now for you? Is
- 43:39Speaker 5: it the Wait a Minute brand? Is it cosmetics? Is
- 43:42Speaker 5: it obviously social media? Motherhood is always going to be
- 43:45Speaker 5: part of it. But what takes the most chunk of
- 43:48Speaker 5: your time right now?
- 43:49Speaker 1: Motherhood for sure the absolute most, because I think that
- 43:53Speaker 1: is my biggest priority out of everything, because that's the
- 43:57Speaker 1: reason why I even go so hard with my busines.
- 44:00Speaker 2: This is because of my son.
- 44:02Speaker 1: I want him to always have the same life, no
- 44:04Speaker 1: matter if it's from dad mom, Like I want you
- 44:07Speaker 1: to be able to vouch for both your parents. So
- 44:09Speaker 1: I'm real big one just giving him everything as well.
- 44:13Speaker 1: But they all like my As far as businesses, I
- 44:17Speaker 1: give all of them the same attention. But having partners
- 44:21Speaker 1: helped a whole lot. I could genuinely say.
- 44:23Speaker 4: That what do you what do you see as far
- 44:30Speaker 4: as the future, Like, you've done that, You've done the beauty,
- 44:33Speaker 4: you've done the fashion. Is there another industry that you
- 44:37Speaker 4: particularly want to go into?
- 44:39Speaker 1: Well, Feminine care was one of the main ones I
- 44:41Speaker 1: wanted to tap into because just everything that I use
- 44:44Speaker 1: on a day to day I want to be a
- 44:46Speaker 1: part of a business in some way, shape or form,
- 44:49Speaker 1: And I think that is part of my purpose here
- 44:52Speaker 1: of like helping other people grow their businesses.
- 44:55Speaker 2: So even if it's just me.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Partnering up with or having my own like that's but
- 45:01Speaker 1: as far as beauty and wait a minute, and clothing,
- 45:03Speaker 1: I'm done. I don't want any more like personal brands
- 45:06Speaker 1: of my own, but next will be collapsed like girl
- 45:09Speaker 1: Wipes that is a new feminine care brand. The opportunity
- 45:12Speaker 1: is brought to me, and they came to me because
- 45:16Speaker 1: these are already some guys that have established businesses and
- 45:20Speaker 1: they had this idea and they wanted somebody like me
- 45:22Speaker 1: to just come in and kind of be the face
- 45:24Speaker 1: of it, but also help with product development, formulation, make
- 45:29Speaker 1: sure it was really something that will Ma can stand behind.
- 45:32Speaker 1: So once I like tested out the products, we got
- 45:34Speaker 1: on a call. They offered me to just be the
- 45:37Speaker 1: face of it and I would get a smaller percentage,
- 45:40Speaker 1: or I can invest more money than everybody and get
- 45:43Speaker 1: a bigger.
- 45:44Speaker 2: Chunk of the company.
- 45:45Speaker 1: And of course I invested, so it's kind of like
- 45:49Speaker 1: our company now. But that was a field I really
- 45:52Speaker 1: wanted to partake in feminine care.
- 45:55Speaker 3: That's a good one.
- 45:56Speaker 5: You did partake in another field that we are familiar with,
- 46:00Speaker 5: which is media podcasting. We were watching the show. Talk
- 46:05Speaker 5: about what you've learned from that experience, the trials and tribulations. Yeah,
- 46:11Speaker 5: and what came out of that, right, Obviously we saw
- 46:15Speaker 5: the show. I mean we had some success. It was
- 46:19Speaker 5: I mean, this is a little bit more difficult than
- 46:21Speaker 5: most people think.
- 46:22Speaker 2: Yeah, so you have to play the long game with
- 46:26Speaker 2: the podcast.
- 46:27Speaker 1: I think we wanted that instant gratification when doing it,
- 46:30Speaker 1: and we just weren't consistent enough to.
- 46:33Speaker 2: See it being something that was actually lucrative.
- 46:36Speaker 1: So we kind of just film when we wanted to,
- 46:38Speaker 1: not because we want to keep this going. I think
- 46:41Speaker 1: it just became something that was fun at first, and
- 46:44Speaker 1: then it's like now our production team like, no, y'all
- 46:46Speaker 1: have to film here. It's like, now I feel like
- 46:48Speaker 1: a job. Now it's not fun. No more y'all taking
- 46:51Speaker 1: the fun out of it. So now when we film
- 46:52Speaker 1: and you feel that energy of us feeling like we
- 46:54Speaker 1: don't want to be there, and I didn't like how
- 46:56Speaker 1: it made us feel. So we were like film episodes
- 46:58Speaker 1: like we're not dropping it. You could tell we didn't
- 47:00Speaker 1: want to be there. So I just learned that like
- 47:03Speaker 1: the podcast where it's beautiful, you could really build solid
- 47:06Speaker 1: communities because we just was it was a whole thing
- 47:08Speaker 1: when we had our podcast, and it's like was really
- 47:10Speaker 1: being consistent, but it's a whole nother world it is.
- 47:15Speaker 4: Do you say do you see yourself ever going back
- 47:17Speaker 4: to that potentially.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Or well, no, we're not done with it.
- 47:20Speaker 2: We just have to prioritize it.
- 47:21Speaker 3: It took a break.
- 47:22Speaker 1: We just took a little break. We take breaks all
- 47:24Speaker 1: the time. Maybe our break to be a little too long.
- 47:30Speaker 1: But seasons, okay, seasons. It's just not the season for
- 47:34Speaker 1: the podcast right now. But no, we're not done with it.
- 47:37Speaker 4: So you invested it in an effeminine care product. Is
- 47:40Speaker 4: that something that's like investing? Is that you're getting into investing?
- 47:44Speaker 1: Yes, well, I feel like real estate kind of just
- 47:47Speaker 1: opened my eyes up to wanting to keep doing it
- 47:50Speaker 1: because it's so important to just have sot like different
- 47:53Speaker 1: streams of income and not just depend on my beauty
- 47:57Speaker 1: brand or my clothing brand because it's like it's all
- 47:59Speaker 1: everything is seasonal. You know, you're gonna have your highs
- 48:02Speaker 1: your lows. But I need something that's always generating money,
- 48:05Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying, aside from my businesses.
- 48:08Speaker 2: So I'm always up to invest.
- 48:10Speaker 3: How are you?
- 48:11Speaker 5: I mean again, this is tough, especially when you're younger.
- 48:15Speaker 5: How are you managing money right? Because it's good to
- 48:17Speaker 5: earn it, but keeping is more important. Having to be
- 48:21Speaker 5: sustainable is even more important. Is there an advisor? Are
- 48:26Speaker 5: you figuring this thing out or is it like a
- 48:28Speaker 5: group of people that are managing it for you? Like,
- 48:31Speaker 5: how are you going about the idea of making sustainable
- 48:35Speaker 5: wealth of them?
- 48:36Speaker 1: So I have a CPA slash financial advisor that just
- 48:41Speaker 1: kind of helps me keep everything afloat and make sure
- 48:44Speaker 1: that I'm not making like bad decisions. Even when it
- 48:46Speaker 1: comes to investing, I kind of run everything by him
- 48:49Speaker 1: before doing so. And then I also have like accounts
- 48:51Speaker 1: to where like I cannot touch this and it's building
- 48:53Speaker 1: interest over time. So just doing the right thing with
- 48:56Speaker 1: my money, also paying myself out and stick to this
- 49:02Speaker 1: monthly spend that I have and not going over that.
- 49:05Speaker 1: That also helps a lot.
- 49:06Speaker 3: But she good with that?
- 49:09Speaker 4: Sure?
- 49:10Speaker 1: Am I good with that?
- 49:11Speaker 3: Good with that?
- 49:12Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I'm really good with that. I save money.
- 49:16Speaker 1: A lot of people think I just spend spend spend,
- 49:18Speaker 1: but like I wear my clothes a lot more than
- 49:20Speaker 1: what she did when I first started, like almost five
- 49:23Speaker 1: years Oh yeah, oh yeah, no, she's stiff. I've learned
- 49:26Speaker 1: so much. I used to really like spend, spend, spend, spend,
- 49:29Speaker 1: but like a lot of stuff that I was in
- 49:31Speaker 1: like jewelry and stuff I don't I've converted over to
- 49:34Speaker 1: more cleaner jewelry, Like I'm not doing all the chains,
- 49:37Speaker 1: the watches, Like, I don't care about that stuff no more.
- 49:39Speaker 1: So it's a lot easier to save money now because
- 49:41Speaker 1: all that stuff. You realize three years you don't spend
- 49:44Speaker 1: a million dollars on chains and watches. So I don't
- 49:47Speaker 1: have to do that anymore. And I wear my clothes.
- 49:50Speaker 1: Before I wasn't wearing my clothes. So now I'm buying
- 49:52Speaker 1: Chanelle clothes, Gucci. I'm I'm trying to keep up, but
- 49:57Speaker 1: I just realized now the order I get make that
- 50:00Speaker 1: Wait a minute, I'm not buying all that stuff no more.
- 50:03Speaker 2: I'm'a just remake it, make.
- 50:05Speaker 1: It my own.
- 50:07Speaker 4: You from Savannah originally man, Yes, Floyd from there. Congratulations
- 50:12Speaker 4: to her she got drafted last year.
- 50:13Speaker 2: Yes.
- 50:15Speaker 4: Coming from a smaller town to Atlanta, being an entrepreneur,
- 50:19Speaker 4: a black entrepreneur in Atlanta, how has that shaped your mindset?
- 50:21Speaker 4: Because that's this is kind of like the mecca of
- 50:24Speaker 4: a black business in America, So like, how how is
- 50:28Speaker 4: that like living in Atlanta? How has that shaped you
- 50:31Speaker 4: as an entrepreneur.
- 50:33Speaker 1: So I originally moved from Savannah to move to Atlanta
- 50:36Speaker 1: to open up a hair salon. That was like the
- 50:38Speaker 1: only reason I came here cause I wanted a business here.
- 50:42Speaker 1: So when I moved here, I got the hair salon.
- 50:46Speaker 1: I guess the hair salon was not in good shape.
- 50:50Speaker 1: And I got a DM from a fake page, like
- 50:53Speaker 1: I don't know who. I guess it was the previous
- 50:56Speaker 1: owner of the salon, but she didn't want her face
- 50:58Speaker 1: on it. So she wrote me from a fake page
- 51:01Speaker 1: and she's like, do not do it. I know you
- 51:04Speaker 1: have the money. They know you have the money, but
- 51:06Speaker 1: that place is gonna cost you way more to fix
- 51:09Speaker 1: than you thinking that you will make a return on
- 51:12Speaker 1: this investment. So I said, okay, beck I literally listened
- 51:17Speaker 1: cause I'm like that fake page. It was like three
- 51:20Speaker 1: in the morning, and it's like, how does she even
- 51:21Speaker 1: know I was signing the lease? So I woul guess
- 51:23Speaker 1: it's just like talk that like oh somebody brought the
- 51:25Speaker 1: space whatever whatever. So and I was gonna I wasn't
- 51:28Speaker 1: written it. I mean I wasn't purchasing it. I was
- 51:30Speaker 1: gonna lease it. So I ended up not doing the
- 51:34Speaker 1: salon and I just focused on my hair business, and
- 51:37Speaker 1: I just knew that Atlanta was just gonna be home
- 51:40Speaker 1: for me.
- 51:41Speaker 2: So I just made the best out of it.
- 51:42Speaker 1: And that's when I took some time off after loyal
- 51:46Speaker 1: having my baby. Just kind of strategized that whole time
- 51:49Speaker 1: of me being pregnant. And then his birthday is February eighteenth,
- 51:53Speaker 1: and then my first Wait a Minute launch was September
- 51:55Speaker 1: twenty fifth, twenty twenty one, So just kind of.
- 52:00Speaker 2: Relied on Atlanta for my place of business, the.
- 52:06Speaker 3: Great City of Atlanta.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Yeah, theseis.
- 52:11Speaker 4: Right before the next day.
- 52:13Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, pisces man. Really Yeah, he's a February pieces marchpices.
- 52:21Speaker 5: When you think of succession, right, this is something obviously
- 52:24Speaker 5: you're creating a brand. You're talking about legacy. A lot
- 52:27Speaker 5: of times we do it for our kids, but in
- 52:32Speaker 5: the return, our kids may not want to do what
- 52:34Speaker 5: the business is. Are you keeping him around the business
- 52:37Speaker 5: so he can see what entrepreneurship is at a very
- 52:39Speaker 5: young age? And how do you the idea of always providing,
- 52:47Speaker 5: always providing? Do you think we're taking something away from
- 52:50Speaker 5: our kids by always giving, right, they'll miss the grit,
- 52:53Speaker 5: the hard work, the having to maybe go to Atlanta.
- 52:56Speaker 3: To try to figure something out.
- 52:58Speaker 5: There's a balance there that I'm not even sure I've
- 53:01Speaker 5: figured out yet. I wonder what you're taking as a
- 53:03Speaker 5: mother of a young child around entrepreneurship.
- 53:06Speaker 1: So I did start Loyal his own business which is
- 53:09Speaker 1: called Fidell Kids, which is loyal in French. So he
- 53:13Speaker 1: is around it. He knows and then like he'll be like,
- 53:15Speaker 1: this is my stuff I'm wording and like he does
- 53:17Speaker 1: his like promo videos and stuff. But I wanted to
- 53:22Speaker 1: introduce it to him, but I don't think because I
- 53:23Speaker 1: asked hi him, like are you going to be an entrepreneur?
- 53:25Speaker 2: And he's like, I'm going to be a rapper.
- 53:28Speaker 5: I'm like, where do you get that idea?
- 53:31Speaker 1: When he gets that, bro I'm like, okay, a rapper.
- 53:34Speaker 1: I'm like, you don't want to have your own company?
- 53:37Speaker 1: Like I want to be a rapper And he's like,
- 53:39Speaker 1: or if I'm not gonna be a rapper, I'll be actor.
- 53:40Speaker 1: So I'm like okay, But I do think they're still
- 53:44Speaker 1: so young, so it's like we can't have him.
- 53:46Speaker 2: We're gonna have him do and he's against money.
- 53:49Speaker 1: I always try to brob him with money.
- 53:50Speaker 2: He like I can't be bought. That's his favorite thing
- 53:52Speaker 2: to say to me.
- 53:53Speaker 1: Like I'm like, here, I'll give you a hundred dollars,
- 53:55Speaker 1: you do this for me, Like he just don't care
- 53:57Speaker 1: about it. So I think the older he gets, the
- 53:59Speaker 1: more he'll start, you know, understanding the value of money.
- 54:02Speaker 1: But right now, it's like I.
- 54:03Speaker 2: Don't make them work for nothing.
- 54:05Speaker 1: You know.
- 54:05Speaker 3: It's like.
- 54:07Speaker 1: Maybe when you like twelve teenager, Yeah, tween, I'll start,
- 54:13Speaker 1: you know, in order to go here or do this,
- 54:17Speaker 1: you have to do this or in order to you know.
- 54:20Speaker 2: So I just I haven't thought that far yet. Do
- 54:23Speaker 2: you feel bad about it?
- 54:24Speaker 3: I don't. I'm just trying to forgere out the balance.
- 54:26Speaker 5: It's like you don't you want your kids to work hard,
- 54:29Speaker 5: you want them to go through some tough times, but
- 54:33Speaker 5: you also wanted to provide for them, Like you worked
- 54:35Speaker 5: hard so you can provide. And I actually Harvey about this,
- 54:39Speaker 5: and I'm like, what's the balance?
- 54:40Speaker 3: He was like, I really don't know what it is? Yeah, right,
- 54:42Speaker 3: he said.
- 54:42Speaker 5: He compared it to walking on a tight rope, like
- 54:45Speaker 5: like we climb up that ladder, we look down, we
- 54:47Speaker 5: see how high it is, we keep going, we get
- 54:50Speaker 5: to the tight rope and we take one step at
- 54:53Speaker 5: the next step and the next step, and eventually we
- 54:56Speaker 5: might make it across.
- 54:57Speaker 3: But most times we're gonna fall.
- 54:59Speaker 5: Yeah, we're gonna fall, We're gonna get broken, We're gonna
- 55:01Speaker 5: fix ourselves, we're gonna get right back on the ladder,
- 55:04Speaker 5: climb up again, one step, one step, and you learn
- 55:07Speaker 5: something about that that whole journey where our kids is,
- 55:10Speaker 5: they'll climb up the ladder, they'll take one step. If
- 55:13Speaker 5: they fought as a safety net, right, they bounce outhing
- 55:16Speaker 5: right back and you have the safety net. So do
- 55:19Speaker 5: they miss the lessons of the fall?
- 55:23Speaker 4: Well, this is a proverb and like one of these
- 55:25Speaker 4: Arab countries and there's like four generations of men and
- 55:28Speaker 4: they's like the first generation of men he rode a camel,
- 55:32Speaker 4: the second generation he had a car, third generation he
- 55:35Speaker 4: had a plane, private plane. And the fourth generation is
- 55:38Speaker 4: gonna ride a camel. Because the first generation it was poor.
- 55:42Speaker 4: Second generation he just started to give money. The third
- 55:46Speaker 4: generation learned from the second generation, took it to the
- 55:49Speaker 4: next level. The fourth generation had no appreciation, so he
- 55:54Speaker 4: blew the money.
- 55:55Speaker 1: Anyone, Yeah, he got the money.
- 55:57Speaker 4: Unfortunately, the cycle cycle Yeah, wealth a lot of time,
- 56:01Speaker 4: so you don't appreciate it. My personal opinion is that
- 56:05Speaker 4: you don't want a kid to struggle, because then what's
- 56:07Speaker 4: the point. But they have to be a level of appreciation. Absolutely,
- 56:12Speaker 4: if you don't appreciate it, then it's actually gonna be harmful.
- 56:15Speaker 4: The money's actually gonna be harmful to a person that
- 56:17Speaker 4: has no appreciation for it, and it's only so long
- 56:20Speaker 4: before they actually make bad decisions. So I think that's
- 56:22Speaker 4: that's important parent. I don't think a parent's job is
- 56:25Speaker 4: to make their kids struggle. I think that a parent
- 56:27Speaker 4: job is to make their kid.
- 56:28Speaker 1: Appreciate appreciate it.
- 56:29Speaker 3: Yeah, it's a fine balance.
- 56:31Speaker 1: I think it's also just upbringing and how like the
- 56:34Speaker 1: morals and the whatever you're pushing into them is how
- 56:38Speaker 1: they're going to value it, you know what I'm saying,
- 56:40Speaker 1: or appreciate it. I don't think it's I don't think
- 56:43Speaker 1: it's necessary for even because we can just overly do so.
- 56:47Speaker 1: Now I'm like explaining to him when we go out
- 56:49Speaker 1: certain places, like no, we're not about to keep.
- 56:51Speaker 2: Door dashing every day because that is expensive.
- 56:54Speaker 1: We're gonna cook. He's starting to understand, like, Okay, well, yeah,
- 56:58Speaker 1: you're right, door Dash is expensive. I said up the
- 57:00Speaker 1: other day, I'm like, we just gonna door Jay, and
- 57:01Speaker 1: she said, did you just say it was expensive? So
- 57:03Speaker 1: like just breaking those things down to them early so
- 57:06Speaker 1: that they can grow up and be like, Okay, well
- 57:08Speaker 1: maybe I don't have to overindulge. You know, I think
- 57:10Speaker 1: everything is just moderation, like because I definitely tell him now, like, no,
- 57:16Speaker 1: you can't have that. Lord, you just got a toy yesterday.
- 57:18Speaker 1: I'm not buying you one today. So just kind of
- 57:20Speaker 1: implementing those boundaries. It's so important because if you don't,
- 57:24Speaker 1: they just gonna they're gonna take advantage as they should. Though.
- 57:28Speaker 1: I mean, if you're not set in no boundaries, it's like, yeah,
- 57:30Speaker 1: I want a toy today tomorrow, let me see an Amazon,
- 57:32Speaker 1: let me see Yeah, So no, I don't play that
- 57:35Speaker 1: no more. I used to though, I used to play that,
- 57:38Speaker 1: but now it's like he never gonna learn. And then
- 57:40Speaker 1: one day I say, no, he gonna be mad at me. No,
- 57:42Speaker 1: let me go ahead and start telling him now while
- 57:44Speaker 1: he's young and a sponge still, you can't get everything
- 57:46Speaker 1: you want.
- 57:47Speaker 4: That's when Eric Thomas hold us to it that he
- 57:49Speaker 4: you know Eric Thomas's motivational Uh, well, he's a motivational,
- 57:52Speaker 4: big time motivational speaker. But he said he has a
- 57:54Speaker 4: few different children. He said his youngest child, he made
- 57:56Speaker 4: a vital mistake because anytime that they he would get
- 58:00Speaker 4: get mad, he would get he would be afraid they
- 58:03Speaker 4: would get mad, so he would say no, then they
- 58:06Speaker 4: get mad and he would cave in, say that was
- 58:09Speaker 4: a mistake, and his like later on the later child,
- 58:14Speaker 4: he was more strict, and he said the strict child
- 58:18Speaker 4: is better in life. And the child that he would
- 58:21Speaker 4: give everything to cave then had more problems. So that
- 58:25Speaker 4: was his advice, was like, don't a lot of times
- 58:28Speaker 4: parents are like secretly afraid of their kids because they
- 58:32Speaker 4: don't want them to be mad. They want they want
- 58:34Speaker 4: to be their friend at all times. But it's like
- 58:36Speaker 4: sometimes you can't be their friend. You got to be
- 58:39Speaker 4: a strict parent. But you know, I think it's a
- 58:41Speaker 4: balance and act for all parents because there's no set blueprint,
- 58:44Speaker 4: Like there's no blueprint and be like this is how
- 58:45Speaker 4: because everybody's different, every parent is different. But it's kind
- 58:49Speaker 4: of like you just learn on the fly, especially if
- 58:50Speaker 4: you have success, like you know, you're just learning.
- 58:52Speaker 3: And attention.
- 58:53Speaker 4: That's another thing too, because even my son, right, like,
- 58:58Speaker 4: you have five times more far than I do, but
- 59:01Speaker 4: I put them on social media a lot, so people
- 59:03Speaker 4: recognize him. So there's benefits that he gets from life
- 59:06Speaker 4: from not just who his father is, for who he
- 59:08Speaker 4: actually is. That's a good thing, but that has to
- 59:12Speaker 4: be monitored because it's like, you didn't really earn.
- 59:15Speaker 2: This, I gave you a platform.
- 59:20Speaker 3: That's the exact reason why my daughter just got Instagram
- 59:22Speaker 3: last week. Really, yeah, and I think they like it.
- 59:25Speaker 3: I think she likes it.
- 59:27Speaker 5: No, no, no, no, she actually likes that she wasn't on
- 59:30Speaker 5: because I can watch when I walk into a space
- 59:33Speaker 5: if somebody recognizes me, it's almost like she almost like
- 59:37Speaker 5: she wants to be the person who she is without
- 59:40Speaker 5: them attached to me. So it's like it's both things, right, Like, yes,
- 59:45Speaker 5: there is the attention piece, but there's also the who
- 59:47Speaker 5: am I if you're not around you know what I mean.
- 59:49Speaker 3: It's interesting like that conversation.
- 59:52Speaker 1: I never thought about it like.
- 59:53Speaker 5: This, but even like the wealth conversation, Yes, parenting is tough,
- 59:57Speaker 5: but having wealth and parenting and especially when you're the
- 1:00:01Speaker 5: first generation, there really is no blueprint, and there's nobody
- 1:00:05Speaker 5: that you can look at and say, obviously, we're period,
- 1:00:07Speaker 5: so we can we're experiencing some of the same things.
- 1:00:09Speaker 5: But I told my son, I'm like, have you ever
- 1:00:11Speaker 5: seen your grandfather work? He's like, no, he sits on
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: the couch. But my dad worked for forty two years
- 1:00:17Speaker 5: and all he knows is his grandfather was a guy
- 1:00:19Speaker 5: that sat on the couch. And I'm like, no, I
- 1:00:20Speaker 5: learned a lot from him watching them the hard work.
- 1:00:22Speaker 5: So how do we pass that down?
- 1:00:24Speaker 3: Right?
- 1:00:24Speaker 5: So I'm like, now I'm having him interview his grandfather
- 1:00:27Speaker 5: about work.
- 1:00:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: Yes, So it helps him remember about how what work
- 1:00:33Speaker 5: was like, and it helps him get caught to speed
- 1:00:36Speaker 5: with Oh that's what it was you were doing. Okay,
- 1:00:39Speaker 5: it's not just watching MSNBC all day.
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: That's crazy.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: How just grow up? Get that? Like?
- 1:00:46Speaker 4: Yeah, And it's they're friends too, Yeah, they're friends. Because
- 1:00:49Speaker 4: it's even my son. He has two sorts of friends.
- 1:00:51Speaker 4: He goes to private school, so his friends are rich.
- 1:00:53Speaker 4: Then he has the regular friends from the neighborhood and
- 1:00:55Speaker 4: they just regular people. So he had asked me something once,
- 1:00:59Speaker 4: He asked me something recently that I thought it was.
- 1:01:00Speaker 4: I didn't really I thought it was a little over
- 1:01:02Speaker 4: and above. And I'm like, any of your friends doing it?
- 1:01:05Speaker 4: And he's like, well, none of my friend's father is
- 1:01:08Speaker 4: a millionaire. Fair valid point, but that doesn't necessarily mean
- 1:01:15Speaker 4: that just because somebody has some level of success that
- 1:01:18Speaker 4: you're entitled to things either, you know, So, yeah, this is.
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: What you got to look forward to.
- 1:01:25Speaker 1: I'm like, oh god, I'm listening. I'm like, okay, I'm
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: thinking it's easy now, but you know he's still.
- 1:01:32Speaker 5: So yeah, yeah, I can't wait to buy his album.
- 1:01:37Speaker 1: Man, but no, he really into it. He's sitting in
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: the corner on his voice notes now he just he
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: freestyle free.
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: Crazy.
