- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from kf I
- 0:04Speaker 1: A M six forty and now Handle on the news.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, here's not Bill Handle.
- 0:23Speaker 2: Good morning kf I AM six forty live everywhere on
- 0:27Speaker 2: the iHeartRadio app. Neil Savader in the morning crew. What
- 0:32Speaker 2: it's all modified this morning? I think, right, are we?
- 0:35Speaker 3: Yeah? You're the only one.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Wow, I'm like, the only original band member. Well, we've
- 0:44Speaker 2: got Heather Brooker in for Amy, we got math Matt
- 0:48Speaker 2: in four, and we have Sam.
- 0:51Speaker 4: In for KNO.
- 0:52Speaker 2: And who's doing uh, Treys Beck Trey Alexander. That's easy
- 0:56Speaker 2: for me to say, is back doing the traffic, which
- 0:59Speaker 2: I'm assuming is pretty light this morning. Tray, Hello, it's
- 1:05Speaker 2: in the bathroom. Sorry that happens. Oh, he can run in.
- 1:09Speaker 2: He's probably he told me earlier. It's been very lied.
- 1:12Speaker 2: He's like, there's not much going on today. And I'm like, well,
- 1:14Speaker 2: that's a good problem I have. We love it.
- 1:16Speaker 4: Everybody's cozy and bad. Nobody's listening.
- 1:18Speaker 3: I don't want to love holiday roads and La Day Road. Yeah,
- 1:26Speaker 3: holiday traffic in La is the best.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Yeah, this is fantastic.
- 1:31Speaker 3: How long to take you to get here?
- 1:32Speaker 2: You can cuss if you want. Nobody's listening this morning.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Everybody's cozy and they're bad. Say a dirty word, you
- 1:38Speaker 2: do it, you first, poopoo pants, dooty butt, you go first.
- 1:45Speaker 2: You have less chance of getting canned than me. Oh no, hey,
- 1:48Speaker 2: it's only been luck at this point thirty years.
- 1:51Speaker 3: I'm like good in radio, that's amazing.
- 1:54Speaker 2: I've dropped the F bomb twice, really yeah, and the
- 1:58Speaker 2: S bomb once. But in my defense, uh, the first
- 2:02Speaker 2: time I ever did it, I was being shocked with
- 2:06Speaker 2: a tasers on the air, what one hundred and twenty
- 2:10Speaker 2: thousand volts or whatever going through my systems.
- 2:13Speaker 3: W u KRP in Cincinnati is going on.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Oh, some some inmate or something was complaining that he
- 2:18Speaker 2: was tased, and I told him to sit down and
- 2:20Speaker 2: shut up because it was listen, you're there for a reason.
- 2:24Speaker 2: You brought this on yourself. And my partner at the time,
- 2:27Speaker 2: Tim Kelly, was like, oh, yeah, how.
- 2:29Speaker 4: Would you take a taser? I'll get tased And I
- 2:34Speaker 4: didn't even do anything. So I did.
- 2:37Speaker 2: But yeah, another another host, that's what was her name,
- 2:43Speaker 2: another host, female host on the weekends, went to do it,
- 2:48Speaker 2: and she just kind of tapped me with it and
- 2:51Speaker 2: then she's like, I can't do this, and he looked
- 2:53Speaker 2: like he was making a fist. I'm like, damn right,
- 2:55Speaker 2: I'm making a fist. Then I'm going to hit you.
- 2:57Speaker 4: I'm going to want to.
- 2:59Speaker 2: And then security came up to do it and they said,
- 3:01Speaker 2: now you're doing it right. You gots take it right
- 3:03Speaker 2: in here, and yeah.
- 3:04Speaker 3: And then you swore a little bit.
- 3:06Speaker 4: Yeah, but I didn't know. I didn't know.
- 3:08Speaker 2: I said, hey, look I didn't swear, and everybody was white.
- 3:11Speaker 2: All the blood had dropped from their face, and I'm like, really, well,
- 3:17Speaker 2: it happens, come on.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Little cousin every now and then.
- 3:21Speaker 2: And then someone was being mean to a producer or
- 3:25Speaker 2: something one time.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Oh yeah, it's not okay, No.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Treat people good.
- 3:30Speaker 5: I like you coming to the defense of the producers
- 3:32Speaker 5: like that. Yeah, I that's profanity.
- 3:34Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't like that. You don't take yourself too seriously. Yeah,
- 3:39Speaker 2: for I'm super honored to do this job. It's a
- 3:42Speaker 2: huge deal for people to let us into their cars,
- 3:44Speaker 2: their lives, their homes and all that stuff. But I
- 3:47Speaker 2: don't take myself seriously. And you know, you don't need
- 3:51Speaker 2: to treat people poorly in life.
- 3:52Speaker 3: That's right, preach, preach.
- 3:55Speaker 2: So we got through the first day of twenty twenty
- 3:59Speaker 2: six field pretty good about it.
- 4:00Speaker 3: Yeah, we nailed it.
- 4:02Speaker 4: Pretty good about it.
- 4:04Speaker 2: I have some thoughts on things that I want to do.
- 4:07Speaker 2: I don't have any resolutions, what say you, Heather Brooker?
- 4:11Speaker 3: You know I have some goals, you know, I resolutions,
- 4:16Speaker 3: you know, whatever you want to call them. My goals
- 4:18Speaker 3: are to do more things that give back to the community.
- 4:21Speaker 2: I heard that. I think that's really neat. I would
- 4:23Speaker 2: like about that. The other day yesterday, I think.
- 4:24Speaker 3: Yeah, I would like to do that more. I feel
- 4:27Speaker 3: like I get so caught up. Like you were talking
- 4:29Speaker 3: yesterday about being a workhorse. That's me. Like, I'm I'm
- 4:32Speaker 3: only part time here at KFI, but I will work
- 4:35Speaker 3: fifty hours a week if they let me because I
- 4:38Speaker 3: enjoy work. I'm a work person.
- 4:39Speaker 4: I see that in you. Absolutely.
- 4:41Speaker 3: I enjoy being busy. And there's stuff I do outside
- 4:45Speaker 3: of here that I don't put down on my timesheet
- 4:46Speaker 3: that I do I probably should put it down, but
- 4:48Speaker 3: I'm always working. I like to be busy.
- 4:51Speaker 2: I'm that that was that person too. Yeah, I've done that.
- 4:53Speaker 2: So it's hard to tell people not to, but yeah
- 4:55Speaker 2: you should.
- 4:55Speaker 4: Yeah, I know I should.
- 4:57Speaker 3: So I'm like, I want to focus more on trying
- 5:01Speaker 3: to redirect some of that energy into helping other people
- 5:06Speaker 3: and maybe not so much work because I'm you know,
- 5:11Speaker 3: I'm just trying to find a balance. I think that's
- 5:13Speaker 3: the struggle.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Charity is great, and you know what, there's a lot
- 5:16Speaker 2: to do, even you with your skills in theater and acting.
- 5:21Speaker 2: You know, there's young people that need mentors and leadership
- 5:25Speaker 2: in those things too. People always think of charity as
- 5:27Speaker 2: having to dump out money, but I'm right, and I do,
- 5:32Speaker 2: I do.
- 5:32Speaker 4: I have. My rule is local.
- 5:39Speaker 2: Then you do local, state, national, and international. Yeah, so
- 5:44Speaker 2: you find and you give a little bit to wherever. Yeah,
- 5:46Speaker 2: something a little like that. And then for the arts,
- 5:49Speaker 2: I'm really big on self help graphics and East LA
- 5:54Speaker 2: place like that where you can give money to or
- 5:57Speaker 2: donate stuff. If you you know, any equipment that I
- 6:01Speaker 2: have for making a you can donate that to, you know,
- 6:08Speaker 2: art places that teach art. You can also send your
- 6:13Speaker 2: tech stuff to STEM programs, which I'm a big fan
- 6:17Speaker 2: of and things like that.
- 6:18Speaker 3: You know what's funny is I don't know if this
- 6:20Speaker 3: is how other communities are other cities or maybe this
- 6:23Speaker 3: is just a Los Angeles problem, but it is incredibly
- 6:28Speaker 3: hard to volunteer in some places because so many people
- 6:33Speaker 3: want to do it. I remember wanting to. My daughter
- 6:36Speaker 3: asked me a few years ago about volunteering and an
- 6:38Speaker 3: animal shelter because she loves animals. Sure, and I went
- 6:41Speaker 3: to look and see where I could do that and
- 6:43Speaker 3: sign up. And I was looking at the Bourbank Animal Shelter.
- 6:45Speaker 3: There was like a six month waiting list to volunteer there,
- 6:48Speaker 3: and I was like what So I was like, I'll
- 6:50Speaker 3: look somewhere else. Let me see passading it the same thing,
- 6:52Speaker 3: and like maybe it's just animals focused, but they're also
- 6:56Speaker 3: I looked at the Downtown Women's Shelter and like other places.
- 6:59Speaker 3: Oh really, Yeah, there's a waiting list in a lot
- 7:01Speaker 3: of these places to volunteer. And I'm like, you know
- 7:06Speaker 3: where that's a good problem to have. Good on La.
- 7:09Speaker 2: You gotta go to the crappy one everyone wants to
- 7:11Speaker 2: deal with. Where are the charity nobody washing us? It's like, uh, yeah,
- 7:17Speaker 2: there's a yeah, I can imagine there's a lot of
- 7:20Speaker 2: people that are our givers and kind and also.
- 7:23Speaker 3: It's a great problem to have in our city. Like
- 7:25Speaker 3: what an abundance of people who want to help, you know,
- 7:29Speaker 3: but it's also annoying. It's like I want to be
- 7:31Speaker 3: good too. Yeah, come on, come on, I wanna. I
- 7:35Speaker 3: want to help.
- 7:36Speaker 2: You're stealing all your goodness?
- 7:38Speaker 4: Right, all right, let's get to some of the news.
- 7:41Speaker 2: Handle on the news, uh lead story. I do like
- 7:48Speaker 2: the rain. I'm not only happy when it rains, but
- 7:51Speaker 2: I do like the rain. In New Year's Day, we
- 7:54Speaker 2: had that nice, steady downpour.
- 7:56Speaker 4: I'll be honest.
- 7:57Speaker 2: I took a longer nap than normal, I because I
- 8:00Speaker 2: was up after midnight with my family and then came
- 8:04Speaker 2: and did the show. So a lot of yesterday was
- 8:07Speaker 2: h Yeah, turning off the alarm because I said an
- 8:11Speaker 2: alarm when I napped.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Do you sleep with white noise? You have a fan
- 8:14Speaker 3: or anything? Alms?
- 8:15Speaker 2: I do when I sleep at night, A mild one.
- 8:19Speaker 2: But I don't do that. I when I nap, I
- 8:22Speaker 2: don't do certain things that I do when I sleep,
- 8:25Speaker 2: Like I don't pull the curtains shot when I nap,
- 8:28Speaker 2: I don't do I don't get under the covers when
- 8:30Speaker 2: I nap.
- 8:30Speaker 4: I don't.
- 8:30Speaker 2: I want my body to know. It's different than normal sleep.
- 8:34Speaker 2: All right, So I go full sleep and I'm like
- 8:38Speaker 2: covering the eyes everything in your Yes, wow, no bra there. Well,
- 8:45Speaker 2: I don't tend to wear a bra when I'm sleeping either.
- 8:48Speaker 2: I probably should, let's be honest, a little floppy.
- 8:51Speaker 4: But yeah.
- 8:53Speaker 2: So we had this kind of rare January rainsterom and
- 8:55Speaker 2: it's not over. I mean, it's gonna be very little today,
- 8:59Speaker 2: I think from what I've seen more.
- 9:01Speaker 3: Yeah, there's more coming. There's another stormfront that's going to
- 9:05Speaker 3: be coming. I need a double check, but I think
- 9:08Speaker 3: it's supposed to be later tonight and through the next
- 9:11Speaker 3: several days.
- 9:12Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm looking forward to all of that. More changed
- 9:16Speaker 4: some plans.
- 9:16Speaker 2: I was hoping to see my aunt and uncle and
- 9:18Speaker 2: one of my cousins and hang out with my mom
- 9:21Speaker 2: over there, but you know, outdoors doing a barbecue.
- 9:25Speaker 4: But I don't know. Someone said, hey, southern California, look
- 9:27Speaker 4: at this wood stuff.
- 9:29Speaker 3: Yeah. Ended up being a nice day yesterday, though.
- 9:31Speaker 4: It's beautiful, all right. One more one more.
- 9:33Speaker 3: President Trump says he the US is locked and loaded
- 9:37Speaker 3: if Iran starts killing protesters. There's a lot going on
- 9:40Speaker 3: over there right now. Demonstrations are happening among business owners
- 9:44Speaker 3: and university students. They are protesting soaring prices and collapsing currency,
- 9:51Speaker 3: and reports have been coming out that one protester was killed,
- 9:55Speaker 3: and President Trump posted if Iran violently kills peaceful protesters,
- 10:01Speaker 3: which is their custom, the US of America will come
- 10:05Speaker 3: to their rescue. We are locked and loaded and ready
- 10:07Speaker 3: to go.
- 10:10Speaker 2: Law and nobody harasses protesters but me, baby, alright, you
- 10:19Speaker 2: know I didn't think about that. That's literally a song, right,
- 10:22Speaker 2: don't rain on my parade? And then you know, yesterday
- 10:27Speaker 2: no one listened to the song. KFI AM six forty
- 10:30Speaker 2: heard everywhere on the iHeartRadio app. Good Friday morning. Look
- 10:35Speaker 2: at this Friday, second day of the new year. I
- 10:38Speaker 2: think we're doing great. Twenty twenty six is gonna be awesome.
- 10:42Speaker 2: I mean, we're already day two and I think we're
- 10:45Speaker 2: kicking some boutet So Neil Savadra and the Morning Crew
- 10:49Speaker 2: although it's modified, got Sam on the board, Kno's taking
- 10:52Speaker 2: the day off, and Ann's out, but we got Matthew
- 10:55Speaker 2: and Amy's out.
- 10:56Speaker 4: But we have Heather Brooker. That's uh, missus Brooker.
- 11:01Speaker 2: If you're nasty, and we have Trey Alexander in for
- 11:06Speaker 2: will everybody's left me.
- 11:09Speaker 4: That's all right.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Alone, We'll standing alone.
- 11:13Speaker 5: I like to look at it as everybody here showed
- 11:15Speaker 5: up for ah, thanks Pal, thanks Like last week I
- 11:20Speaker 5: showed up when I wasn't one. I'm telling you, yeah,
- 11:23Speaker 5: we're here. We support each other. It's a mutual support society.
- 11:27Speaker 5: A little inside baseball. Last Friday, there was a change
- 11:32Speaker 5: of plans, but I hadn't changed it on my calendar,
- 11:35Speaker 5: so I assumed I was on. So I came in
- 11:36Speaker 5: on a day when I wasn't supposed to be here,
- 11:38Speaker 5: and then I just sat and talked with Sam and
- 11:41Speaker 5: Heather for a little while and then went home.
- 11:44Speaker 3: I wasn't gonna say anything. I wasn't going to out
- 11:46Speaker 3: you for coming in, but I was like, oh nice.
- 11:49Speaker 3: I'm like, should I get Should we get some stories
- 11:51Speaker 3: together and just do it and prompt to do a
- 11:53Speaker 3: show impromptu show?
- 11:55Speaker 2: No, I'll just get caught up with you folks, then
- 11:57Speaker 2: go back on my merry way. But we are going
- 12:01Speaker 2: back to the news. I'm like, super duper appreciative. I'm
- 12:09Speaker 2: like in that state of gratefulness right now. You know,
- 12:12Speaker 2: do you ever just do that? I know you do
- 12:14Speaker 2: this either because I can hear it when you're with them,
- 12:17Speaker 2: but when you just look at your family. And I'm
- 12:21Speaker 2: not a big climb the ladder guy. I'm very appreciative
- 12:24Speaker 2: of where I am at any point in time. And
- 12:28Speaker 2: just looked around yesterday and remember what a cute little
- 12:30Speaker 2: house we have and what a cute little family. And
- 12:34Speaker 2: I can go tinker in my shop and my son's
- 12:38Speaker 2: messing around and joking around, my wife's messing around, joking around.
- 12:41Speaker 3: I'm like, you know what, it's good hashtag blessed?
- 12:45Speaker 4: Yeah, or bleased? I like that the best you ever
- 12:48Speaker 4: go through.
- 12:49Speaker 3: And the people misspell it, Yeah.
- 12:51Speaker 2: That's those are the ones that I The misspelled hashtags
- 12:54Speaker 2: are my favorite.
- 12:55Speaker 4: That's a deep dive.
- 12:56Speaker 3: I feel that way mostly when the tree is up
- 12:59Speaker 3: and there's music playing and we're all just kind of
- 13:03Speaker 3: hanging out and talking. Like on New Year's Eve, my
- 13:06Speaker 3: husband got my daughter a game called Grab the Mic
- 13:09Speaker 3: for Christmas, So on New Year's Eve we sat around
- 13:13Speaker 3: and played that.
- 13:13Speaker 4: And what is what is grab the mic?
- 13:16Speaker 3: Grab the mic is there's like a little microphone that
- 13:20Speaker 3: comes with it, and it's you're giving a word. There's cards,
- 13:23Speaker 3: you flip over, and there's a word, and whoever sings
- 13:27Speaker 3: a song lyric with that word in it first moves
- 13:31Speaker 3: their points or moves their token or whatever across the
- 13:34Speaker 3: board according to how many points. So like, if the
- 13:36Speaker 3: word is uh, and sometimes it's hard. If the word
- 13:39Speaker 3: is love, that's easy to do. You grab whoever grabs
- 13:42Speaker 3: the mic first sings their lyrics with the word love
- 13:44Speaker 3: in it, or sometimes the word will be like have
- 13:48Speaker 3: or ben.
- 13:50Speaker 2: That's like an old improv game kind of Yeah. I
- 13:53Speaker 2: used to do that with a buddy of mine who's
- 13:54Speaker 2: a who's a comic, and we would on the way
- 13:56Speaker 2: to his shows. We do like album names or something,
- 14:00Speaker 2: and you could only have a conversation using album names
- 14:03Speaker 2: or things like that.
- 14:04Speaker 4: Yeah, that's fun. I love I love games. Game night
- 14:07Speaker 4: to me is a it's a big deal.
- 14:09Speaker 3: We love games too. We play. We play a lot
- 14:11Speaker 3: of games. Did you ever play Big Booty when you
- 14:13Speaker 3: did improv?
- 14:15Speaker 1: Uh?
- 14:16Speaker 4: I remember that, you remember Big Booty? Yeah? I remember
- 14:19Speaker 4: what's big Booty?
- 14:20Speaker 3: Big Big Booty is. It's like a rhyming game where
- 14:23Speaker 3: you go everybody gets a number in the circle and
- 14:26Speaker 3: the number kind of gets tossed around across the room.
- 14:31Speaker 3: So you go, uh, a big booty, big booty, number one,
- 14:38Speaker 3: number one, number seven, number seven, number nine, number nine,
- 14:41Speaker 3: number twelve, number eight, number whatever, and you have to
- 14:43Speaker 3: toss to the number that your whatever your number is,
- 14:47Speaker 3: and you kind of toss the booty around. Everyone listening
- 14:52Speaker 3: right now is like, is this a drinking game?
- 14:54Speaker 4: Because it should be.
- 14:55Speaker 2: It should be, yeah, And then what what happens when you.
- 14:58Speaker 3: It just gets faster and fast and faster, and then
- 15:01Speaker 3: whoever loses, I guess gets out of the circle. And
- 15:04Speaker 3: you know, it's been a minute since I've played it.
- 15:06Speaker 3: But we did a lot of fun improv games. I
- 15:09Speaker 3: was at the Groundlings and UCB and where did you
- 15:11Speaker 3: do improv?
- 15:13Speaker 4: I was at Second City, Second to Second City. Yeah,
- 15:16Speaker 4: I really enjoyed it. I did it going into knowing
- 15:20Speaker 4: that not just.
- 15:21Speaker 5: Obviously it's great for radio, but I was doing it
- 15:24Speaker 5: because I'm a marriage and family therapist and I was
- 15:26Speaker 5: trying to get comfortable in being in one on one
- 15:31Speaker 5: situations with people. So I took an improv class and
- 15:33Speaker 5: it helped, and they taught you big booty to help
- 15:36Speaker 5: with that. That was one of the exercises that they did.
- 15:39Speaker 5: It's just learning how to with eye contact communicate directly
- 15:44Speaker 5: to the person you're trying to pass the ball to.
- 15:46Speaker 2: So now Sam is like, They're like, well, and then
- 15:48Speaker 2: this happened when I was thirteen, and goes yes and.
- 15:51Speaker 5: Yeah, exactly, exactly yes, And as a therapist, is exactly
- 15:56Speaker 5: the way you were.
- 15:58Speaker 4: Yeah, you kind of do. And how did that make
- 16:00Speaker 4: you feel?
- 16:02Speaker 2: My wife's a therapist and I always say, don't put
- 16:04Speaker 2: me on the couch, and she says, don't do creepy
- 16:06Speaker 2: Jesus voice.
- 16:06Speaker 4: Well or even already back of the news, shall we go?
- 16:12Speaker 1: Rain?
- 16:12Speaker 2: Yes, rain is here, steady rain pounded Colorado Boulevard, Pasadena,
- 16:17Speaker 2: of course as the one hundred and thirty seventh Rose Parade.
- 16:22Speaker 2: We watched it here yesterday and we're humored by the
- 16:26Speaker 2: Grand Marshall Magic Johnson himself that you saw basically a
- 16:31Speaker 2: silhouette most of the time because they had the top
- 16:34Speaker 2: up on the convertible. He did reach out at some
- 16:37Speaker 2: point and wave his hand. Yeah, but that's crap.
- 16:42Speaker 4: Do they pay those folks?
- 16:44Speaker 3: They do? I believe they do get paid. I think
- 16:46Speaker 3: he did. I think he was out of the car
- 16:49Speaker 3: at the beginning of the parade. My husband says, he
- 16:51Speaker 3: goes no. I saw him at the very top of
- 16:53Speaker 3: the parade when he was like, you know, tossing or
- 16:56Speaker 3: opening it whatever.
- 16:57Speaker 2: I was like, oh, okay, because there was time when
- 16:59Speaker 2: they were doing a stand up or something before. But
- 17:01Speaker 2: once he got in the parade itself, it.
- 17:06Speaker 3: Was also a really small convert, Like he's a tall guy.
- 17:10Speaker 3: I don't know how he fit in there.
- 17:12Speaker 2: His feet are in the engine compartment. They don't tell
- 17:15Speaker 2: you that. It's like a flintstone car. He's powering it
- 17:19Speaker 2: by his own self, all right.
- 17:22Speaker 3: More Trump news. He is telling the Wall Street Journal
- 17:26Speaker 3: in an interview that he's not following his doctor's recommendations
- 17:31Speaker 3: because he's taking a higher dose of aspirin than what
- 17:35Speaker 3: they're recommending, because he says, well, aspirin is good for
- 17:40Speaker 3: thinning out the blood, and I don't want thick blood
- 17:43Speaker 3: pouring through my heart, so I want nice, thin blood
- 17:47Speaker 3: pouring through my heart. So he's taking a higher dose
- 17:50Speaker 3: of aspirin, blaming or than his doctors are recommended.
- 17:56Speaker 2: It's what cracks me up is that thought that, hey,
- 18:01Speaker 2: if it's good, then more is better, right, right, Yeah,
- 18:04Speaker 2: I don't know that that's the case, but I saw
- 18:10Speaker 2: this yesterday and maybe you did too. Going back to
- 18:12Speaker 2: the Rose Parade that there was a float.
- 18:16Speaker 4: That came by and they had a banner.
- 18:17Speaker 2: There's most of the time, there's no controversy when it comes.
- 18:23Speaker 2: They do a good job at keeping the Rose Parade. Yeah,
- 18:27Speaker 2: and just an enjoyable time. But it's a local parade,
- 18:32Speaker 2: and there was local news. There was a banner that
- 18:36Speaker 2: said A. G. Bonta Altadena demands an investigation and this
- 18:40Speaker 2: is in reference to the California Attorney General Rob Bonta,
- 18:44Speaker 2: and demanding an investigation is to what caused the eat
- 18:47Speaker 2: and fire. And you know, they did dance around the
- 18:52Speaker 2: banner a little bit with camera work, but it was
- 18:55Speaker 2: seen in most of it. And I you know, I'm
- 18:58Speaker 2: not big on making everything a political platform, but in
- 19:06Speaker 2: this case, this is a very important local issue. It
- 19:10Speaker 2: was mishandled. Somebody needs to come up and lead and say, Okay,
- 19:14Speaker 2: this is where we dropped the ball, but this is
- 19:15Speaker 2: what we're doing a year later.
- 19:18Speaker 3: And considering that it was in Pasadena, Yeah, it's right there. Yeah,
- 19:24Speaker 3: you would think, I honestly thought there would have been
- 19:26Speaker 3: a little more representation or a little more nod to
- 19:29Speaker 3: the fires during the show, but we didn't during the prey,
- 19:32Speaker 3: but we didn't see that.
- 19:33Speaker 2: On that note, a good reminder for you, January seventh,
- 19:37Speaker 2: Next Wednesday, This coming Wednesday, the Los Angeles wildfires. One
- 19:40Speaker 2: year later, look at the news two hour special hosted
- 19:45Speaker 2: by our very own Michael Monks. Please stick around for
- 19:49Speaker 2: that is around. We should be talking to him today.
- 19:52Speaker 3: I don't think so he's off today, of course he is.
- 19:55Speaker 3: I have a special segment in that special as well. Actually,
- 19:59Speaker 3: a lot of the Canfine team contributed to that special,
- 20:02Speaker 3: so we've got some really great angles on the fire
- 20:05Speaker 3: one year later that I think people will really be
- 20:08Speaker 3: interested to hear.
- 20:08Speaker 4: Yeah, put that on your calendar.
- 20:10Speaker 2: That is the seventh on Wednesday at seven pm.
- 20:15Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 20:19Speaker 1: six forty.
- 20:22Speaker 2: KFI AM six forty live everywhere on the iHeartRadio app.
- 20:26Speaker 4: Happy Friday to you, but a lot to the law.
- 20:28Speaker 2: The second of January twenty twenty six, Neil Savadri in
- 20:31Speaker 2: the Morning Crew with you. Happy to be here today.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Rounding out the week. Handle has had the week off.
- 20:38Speaker 2: Yesterday yesterday I reached out, just texted Bill and Lindsay
- 20:43Speaker 2: and just said, you know, happy New Year.
- 20:45Speaker 4: You're crazy kids, and he wrote back, I hope you have.
- 20:48Speaker 2: A marginal marginally pleasing twenty twenty six sounds about right. Yeah, yeah,
- 20:54Speaker 2: it's really heartwarming.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Do you think he's listening? Does he listen to the
- 20:57Speaker 3: show when he's not here?
- 20:58Speaker 2: Mostly no, but he does on occasion so that he
- 21:01Speaker 2: can come back and maybe bask you. Here's the thing
- 21:04Speaker 2: a lot of people don't think about this. Handle doesn't
- 21:07Speaker 2: like other radio shows because of one that no one
- 21:11Speaker 2: can do that the type of show that Handle likes,
- 21:14Speaker 2: because Handle likes listening to Handle.
- 21:16Speaker 3: I was gonna say his show the only one he likes.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Yes, because if you're not him talking about him, then
- 21:23Speaker 2: he's bored. So he he listens for a couple of
- 21:28Speaker 2: minutes and goes, this is boring because it's not him.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Understood.
- 21:31Speaker 4: Yeah, okay, very.
- 21:32Speaker 2: Simple recipe for success with Bill. B Bill love Bill.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Say good things about Bill and you're fine. Oh, I
- 21:41Speaker 2: tell him. That's why I think he hates Trump so much.
- 21:43Speaker 2: They're pretty much the same person. What about me? All right?
- 21:48Speaker 2: Back to what here we go? Handle on the news,
- 21:52Speaker 2: it's got his name right.
- 21:53Speaker 3: He can even be.
- 21:54Speaker 2: Neil on the News which to be honest, ring with
- 21:58Speaker 2: Heather Brooker.
- 22:00Speaker 3: All Right, Zoran Mundani was officially sworn in in a
- 22:05Speaker 3: ceremony this week and as mayor of New York, and
- 22:09Speaker 3: he gave his inaugural address in front of thousands of
- 22:12Speaker 3: New Yorkers, including Senator Bernie Sanders and Representative Alexandria Ocasio Cortes.
- 22:18Speaker 3: So he is making a lot of history here. He's
- 22:20Speaker 3: the thirty four year old Democratic socialist. He is the
- 22:25Speaker 3: first Muslim and South Asian person to serve as mayor,
- 22:28Speaker 3: the first to use the Qur'an and his swearing in,
- 22:31Speaker 3: and the youngest mayor in over a century. Some promises
- 22:34Speaker 3: he made was to deliver an agenda of safety, affordability,
- 22:38Speaker 3: and abundance. And he says, he continued, he will continue
- 22:42Speaker 3: to rule or rule or maybe that's not the best
- 22:46Speaker 3: word govern as a democratic socialist. And he yeah, that's
- 22:53Speaker 3: what he's planning to do. He's not going to lose
- 22:54Speaker 3: his principles as mayor. That's what he says.
- 22:57Speaker 2: Cats danned his politics way, shape or form. But boy,
- 23:02Speaker 2: is he and his wife a good looking couple. They
- 23:04Speaker 2: are Wow, They're just they you know, And I'm sure
- 23:08Speaker 2: they're lovely people. I just socialism, as pretty as it
- 23:12Speaker 2: looks on paper, has one place, in one place only
- 23:15Speaker 2: in life, and that is at your home. I am
- 23:17Speaker 2: a socialist at home, and I think that's where it's
- 23:22Speaker 2: it's all for everybody at home, we all do it
- 23:24Speaker 2: and put it into the pot. But outside of the
- 23:28Speaker 2: intimacy of your home, it just doesn't work. Man, Somebody,
- 23:32Speaker 2: somebody's got to do the heavy lifting. And uh, it's
- 23:38Speaker 2: just not how it works. But it's pretty. I mean,
- 23:40Speaker 2: I love, I'd love we have a barter system. I
- 23:43Speaker 2: love I could just get a pelt.
- 23:44Speaker 3: I'm curious to see how we have one, Like just
- 23:47Speaker 3: socialist city in a country that is very capitalist, you know, Like,
- 23:52Speaker 3: how does that work with where one city is focusing
- 23:55Speaker 3: on socialism in a country that does not.
- 23:58Speaker 2: Really, Yeah, it's just to me, it's it's the capitalism
- 24:04Speaker 2: is not perfect by any stretch, but it's the best
- 24:07Speaker 2: of all the options. It just is you get every
- 24:09Speaker 2: individual the opportunity, and that's all I expect. Just allow
- 24:13Speaker 2: me opportunity. And for those that aren't getting those opportunities,
- 24:17Speaker 2: we have to focus and make sure they at least
- 24:18Speaker 2: have the openness to them. And then we're all good.
- 24:22Speaker 2: But socialism that you know, what's the old saying. The
- 24:25Speaker 2: socialism is great until you run out of other people's money.
- 24:28Speaker 2: And that's somebody's got to be making the money to
- 24:31Speaker 2: make it work. And what's the incentive if everybody's going
- 24:34Speaker 2: to take it? Only family? That's why it works at
- 24:37Speaker 2: home on a small, small scale. All right, this is
- 24:40Speaker 2: a weird sexual harassment You see Will Smith's name being
- 24:46Speaker 2: sued over allegations he retaliated against a violent violinist who
- 24:52Speaker 2: reported sexual harassment. You go, what, but that is an
- 24:57Speaker 2: odd headline. Basically, you have this violin who was on
- 25:01Speaker 2: tour with Will Smith. You know, his career has kind
- 25:05Speaker 2: of tanked after he assaulted Chris Rock on stage at
- 25:10Speaker 2: the Oscars, and so he went on tour. You know,
- 25:13Speaker 2: you got to make dad, I gotta make money, went
- 25:15Speaker 2: on tour doing his music there and he got a complaint.
- 25:21Speaker 2: Brian King Joseph, who was the violinist, said that he
- 25:26Speaker 2: came back to his room, his hotel room, and there
- 25:29Speaker 2: was like HIV medicine with somebody's name on it they
- 25:33Speaker 2: didn't know, and there was like somebody had obviously been
- 25:36Speaker 2: in his room and he went to the management and said, Hey,
- 25:40Speaker 2: somebody's been in my room. Somebody's been eating my porridge
- 25:43Speaker 2: and all this stuff. And apparently he said that he
- 25:48Speaker 2: was fearful that someone was you know, there was a
- 25:50Speaker 2: note said Brian, I'll be back later like and he
- 25:54Speaker 2: felt like he was going to be sexually assaulted because
- 25:57Speaker 2: there was a note. That's and it's just an odds
- 26:01Speaker 2: and he was fired and has.
- 26:05Speaker 3: He raised concerns to the management.
- 26:06Speaker 4: That's what he says.
- 26:07Speaker 2: That's his that's his accusation. But it's an odd story all.
- 26:12Speaker 3: The way, very strange. Yeah, all right, about three hundred
- 26:16Speaker 3: and twenty five thousand Californians will now need new real IDs.
- 26:21Speaker 3: Apparently there was a software error with the California DMV
- 26:27Speaker 3: and now about one point five percent of the people
- 26:31Speaker 3: in California holding these real IDs will need to get
- 26:35Speaker 3: new ones. They're not It doesn't it's not super clear
- 26:39Speaker 3: what it says that the actual problem was. It just
- 26:41Speaker 3: says we reviewed our records and identified legacy system issue
- 26:45Speaker 3: from two thousand and six and are notifying impacted customers
- 26:49Speaker 3: with guidance on how to maintain a California issued credential.
- 26:53Speaker 4: I want a new one, right, Yeah, I want a
- 26:57Speaker 4: new one.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Well, they also want to be clear that the federal
- 27:01Speaker 3: system had verified the lawful presence of the people who
- 27:04Speaker 3: you know, received these errored IDs, and that no one
- 27:07Speaker 3: who was undocumented got one.
- 27:11Speaker 2: So during COVID and they were like, you got to
- 27:14Speaker 2: get your idea, you got to get it. My you know,
- 27:17Speaker 2: my son was just a we one. My wife's working,
- 27:20Speaker 2: and I got to go in and do it. Keep
- 27:23Speaker 2: in mind, the.
- 27:24Speaker 4: Early, uh, the very start of COVID.
- 27:27Speaker 2: I was supposed to be coming back to work from
- 27:30Speaker 2: my kidney transplant, and I you know, they're like, no,
- 27:35Speaker 2: you stay home because you've got a compromised immune system
- 27:38Speaker 2: all the stuff.
- 27:39Speaker 4: Right.
- 27:39Speaker 2: So I went from you know, three months or whatever
- 27:43Speaker 2: of already being on home home stay for my kidney
- 27:47Speaker 2: right into COVID. So I was three months ahead of
- 27:50Speaker 2: everybody else for being quarantined.
- 27:52Speaker 3: Wow.
- 27:52Speaker 2: And I had to go at some point take my
- 27:56Speaker 2: young son with me, who was just like at that
- 27:59Speaker 2: wandering age and I'm trying to at the DMV and
- 28:02Speaker 2: it's all on lockdown. I looked, listen, I had a
- 28:06Speaker 2: very small window of attractiveness around eighteen to twenty, and
- 28:11Speaker 2: I you know, I'm not telling anybody that I'm going
- 28:15Speaker 2: to take the best picture anyways, but it is. It
- 28:18Speaker 2: is just a horrible picture now that is staying with
- 28:21Speaker 2: me forever. So I would be happy. I hope i'd
- 28:24Speaker 2: get one of the ones that was tainted around two
- 28:27Speaker 2: thousand and six. Yeah, I hope that maybe they'll go, hey,
- 28:30Speaker 2: let's redo this. Oh well, all right, twenty twenty six
- 28:34Speaker 2: is it going to be the year of that four
- 28:36Speaker 2: day work week that we've heard so much about. Some
- 28:38Speaker 2: countries and areas already do this, but they're saying because
- 28:43Speaker 2: of AI and the rapid development in twenty twenty five,
- 28:48Speaker 2: that this has accelerated these feelings of anxiety about the future,
- 28:53Speaker 2: and people are worrying about shrinking entry level opportunities, rising
- 28:59Speaker 2: electricity because you know, these these data farms, these that
- 29:04Speaker 2: they use. It takes so much for AI. I mean,
- 29:09Speaker 2: it takes a lot for the Internet.
- 29:11Speaker 4: You know.
- 29:11Speaker 2: People are like, oh, this person flew a plot private
- 29:14Speaker 2: plane to wherever. I'm like, dude, when you looked up,
- 29:19Speaker 2: did fish ever have hair? And uh, you know, is
- 29:22Speaker 2: there really thing is the furry bass or whatever? These
- 29:26Speaker 2: are all cryptos zoological preferences anyways, if you look that up,
- 29:33Speaker 2: you're spending a butt ton of energy on stupidity. But
- 29:38Speaker 2: they're saying that these things might just push some of
- 29:42Speaker 2: these new type weeks, these four day work weeks, and
- 29:46Speaker 2: I'm like, hey, it depends on what you're doing in
- 29:48Speaker 2: that time, not how much time you have.
- 29:50Speaker 4: What is your goal? What do you need to do?
- 29:53Speaker 2: Here in the United States, we have gone way out
- 29:56Speaker 2: of balance when it comes to work and home.
- 30:00Speaker 3: Oh yeah, just like we were talking about earlier. We
- 30:03Speaker 3: work too much and I need to reset that in
- 30:06Speaker 3: my own personal life. Man, I feel like we already
- 30:10Speaker 3: did this, but we're getting rid of plastic bags in California.
- 30:14Speaker 3: Is this de ja vous? Am I crazy?
- 30:16Speaker 4: No, We've done.
- 30:16Speaker 2: We go back and forth because it's if we were
- 30:20Speaker 2: trying to save the trees when we went to plastic,
- 30:23Speaker 2: and now we're trying to save the planet because plastic
- 30:26Speaker 2: is we just throw them all over the place.
- 30:29Speaker 4: They end up in the gutter, and.
- 30:30Speaker 3: They're horse in the ocean.
- 30:32Speaker 2: Well.
- 30:33Speaker 3: Cinebil ten fifty three now prohibits retailers from providing plastic
- 30:38Speaker 3: bags to customers at checkout. Shoppers who do not bring
- 30:42Speaker 3: their own reusual bag can purchase one for ten cent
- 30:46Speaker 3: feet Now here's the deal. I live in the Glendale,
- 30:48Speaker 3: and I remember years ago, like maybe seven eight years ago.
- 30:53Speaker 4: Did you call it the Glendale Glendale? Okay people who know?
- 30:56Speaker 3: No, they did this whole plastic bag doing this anymore thing.
- 31:01Speaker 3: Everybody's going to be using reusable, but you can buy
- 31:04Speaker 3: one for ten cents everywhere, and it was so annoying.
- 31:08Speaker 3: It was like, oh, what we have to pay? All right,
- 31:10Speaker 3: that's fine, ten cents whatever, because I would forget my bag.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Everywhere now in Glendale has plastic bags, and I'm like,
- 31:17Speaker 3: I thought these were not supposed to have these anymore,
- 31:19Speaker 3: And here we are years later, every store has plastic bags.
- 31:23Speaker 3: What are they doing?
- 31:24Speaker 2: What they did was they switched to thicker bags. Yes,
- 31:27Speaker 2: they're much thicker. The thought was people will wash them
- 31:30Speaker 2: and reuse them, and they didn't, and so we wasted more.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Because we're emotional. Nobody's rational about these things, saramony.
- 31:40Speaker 3: But also it feels like no one is enforcing it.
- 31:42Speaker 3: Why is why are these big box stores allowed to
- 31:45Speaker 3: still have these giant plastic bags?
- 31:47Speaker 2: They well, the big the big box stores, don't. I mean,
- 31:50Speaker 2: you go to Costco and you grab them all Target
- 31:53Speaker 2: and Walmart, and but I think next maybe twenty twenty seven,
- 31:57Speaker 2: they're gonna you're they're gonna mandate us all become marsupials
- 32:01Speaker 2: and they're just like, no, you just have to have
- 32:03Speaker 2: a pouch flapping on you in your belly, and yeah,
- 32:07Speaker 2: you just have to.
- 32:08Speaker 4: Sorry, but we shall see.
- 32:10Speaker 1: All right.
- 32:10Speaker 3: I just got really heated there. I'm sorry. I didn't
- 32:12Speaker 3: mean to know, abe get angry. I'm just so mad
- 32:15Speaker 3: about the bag.
- 32:16Speaker 2: Yeah, as well, you should be KFIM six forty live
- 32:20Speaker 2: everywhere on.
- 32:20Speaker 4: The iHeartRadio app.
- 32:22Speaker 2: Good morning, Happy Friday to you Neil Svader in the
- 32:25Speaker 2: Morning Crew. Handle will be back on Monday and I
- 32:28Speaker 2: get to take.
- 32:29Speaker 3: The week off. Good for you.
- 32:32Speaker 2: Yeah, although I do miss the crotchety old bastard, I'll
- 32:37Speaker 2: be honest. I you know, I enjoy messing with him
- 32:41Speaker 2: and us causing havoc on and off the air.
- 32:45Speaker 3: So when you're not here, then Amy just has or
- 32:48Speaker 3: whoever's in the news that just does the news by themselves. Yeah,
- 32:52Speaker 3: because when you weren't here last week, it was it
- 32:54Speaker 3: was just me and Bill I did all the news stories.
- 32:56Speaker 3: I was like, hey, buddy, you can't chuck oh he does.
- 32:59Speaker 4: You're back and forth.
- 33:00Speaker 3: No, it's just the news person just reads all the stories.
- 33:04Speaker 3: I'm like, hey, buddy, can you chime in here?
- 33:06Speaker 4: Hey you have a little something little for the effort.
- 33:08Speaker 3: So Amy, you'll be doing double duty next week.
- 33:11Speaker 4: Uh yeah, it does.
- 33:13Speaker 2: Uh that's why I do my best to be around
- 33:16Speaker 2: as not to I always feel guilty. I don't want
- 33:18Speaker 2: anybody else with that pick up the my scraps there.
- 33:22Speaker 2: Hey do you think things.
- 33:23Speaker 4: Are open today?
- 33:25Speaker 3: I think so?
- 33:25Speaker 2: Yeah, back to normal. I know they're picking up it's
- 33:27Speaker 2: trash day. I get really excited about trash day. I
- 33:30Speaker 2: break down boxes, you know, That's what I do. That's
- 33:35Speaker 2: my man job. I break down the boxes.
- 33:37Speaker 3: That's my husband's job too. We have a whole pile
- 33:39Speaker 3: on my yeez. Address the boxes.
- 33:42Speaker 2: Yeah, hello boxes, and then I'm done, all right. I
- 33:47Speaker 2: was just wondering, like, uh, you know what sounds fun
- 33:50Speaker 2: today is like going to like antique or or I
- 33:54Speaker 2: hate call them junk stores. Just what they are, store
- 33:57Speaker 2: with stuff. I think that sound fun. It does some fun,
- 34:00Speaker 2: But where where do you go?
- 34:01Speaker 4: I know there's a bunch of seamy.
- 34:03Speaker 2: Valley's great. Also, Laverne has great stuff. There's a few
- 34:09Speaker 2: good ones here in Burbank, no joke. Oh no, yeah,
- 34:12Speaker 2: there's really great ones. There's one that is clothing and
- 34:16Speaker 2: some some you know stuff all from from movies.
- 34:21Speaker 5: Yeah, I've seen the hat the hat store, that's all
- 34:25Speaker 5: stuff that was used to They have great.
- 34:27Speaker 2: Stuff also, Long the Long Beach antique mall just popped
- 34:32Speaker 2: up on my feed and I'm like, I want to
- 34:33Speaker 2: go check that out.
- 34:34Speaker 5: There was a spot in antique spot in Burbank, and
- 34:37Speaker 5: my kid is a huge history buff. He got my
- 34:41Speaker 5: kid like really nerded out because he got to hold
- 34:44Speaker 5: a bullet from the Civil War.
- 34:46Speaker 4: Oh that is cool.
- 34:47Speaker 5: And apparently only one company made all the bullets, so
- 34:51Speaker 5: they couldn't figure out which side the bullet was shot from,
- 34:54Speaker 5: so it was there was a real cool little bit
- 34:56Speaker 5: of history there.
- 34:57Speaker 4: My kid had a great time nerding out there. Wow,
- 35:00Speaker 4: that is fascinating.
- 35:01Speaker 2: Yeah. I just love that stuff too. Yeah, that's all
- 35:03Speaker 2: really cool. I'm fascinated by it all. All Right, back
- 35:06Speaker 2: to the news, shall we go. We've heard about this
- 35:09Speaker 2: a little bit. Santa Monica. They have a charging site
- 35:12Speaker 2: there for the WAIM, the robotaxis, and people are pissed
- 35:17Speaker 2: off because they talk.
- 35:20Speaker 4: To each other.
- 35:21Speaker 2: The vehicles honk to talk to each other, and while
- 35:25Speaker 2: they're parking and things like that, they're finding their way
- 35:28Speaker 2: back into I don't know if you have one of
- 35:30Speaker 2: those robotic mops or vacuums at home, but we have one.
- 35:34Speaker 4: I call it.
- 35:35Speaker 2: I tell my son it's his brother. But I don't
- 35:39Speaker 2: know why, but it gives me anxiety. It just it's
- 35:43Speaker 2: always underfoot. And then they kind of beep and talk
- 35:47Speaker 2: to the base and then they go back to the bait.
- 35:49Speaker 2: They find the base and it's like now going to
- 35:52Speaker 2: the base and well the cars do that and people
- 35:56Speaker 2: and it's under like an apartment area or something.
- 36:00Speaker 3: Thing so annoying.
- 36:01Speaker 2: And so the city of Santa Monica is asking a
- 36:03Speaker 2: judge declare the two way moot charging stations a public
- 36:07Speaker 2: nuisance in order that overnight operations be curtailed because of
- 36:11Speaker 2: the effects of all this noise and lighting, you know,
- 36:15Speaker 2: going back and forth. And they're using terms like mini
- 36:19Speaker 2: Las Vegas, living next door to a spaceship, a circus,
- 36:23Speaker 2: a city that never sleeps. And I hope they figure
- 36:27Speaker 2: something out because that is there's got to be a
- 36:29Speaker 2: way to do it in an industrial area or do
- 36:32Speaker 2: something where you're not underneath people because they made the
- 36:36Speaker 2: decision to make that lease before that stuff was there,
- 36:41Speaker 2: and then now they have this you know, the sound
- 36:43Speaker 2: and the crazy wemos.
- 36:45Speaker 3: Yeah, health subsidies are going to expire or have expired.
- 36:50Speaker 3: Rather that means millions of Americans are now facing steep
- 36:55Speaker 3: health insurance hikes. The entense tax credits that have helped
- 36:59Speaker 3: reduce the cost of health insurance for the Affordable Care
- 37:01Speaker 3: Act enrollees they expired this week, and that means more
- 37:07Speaker 3: money for health insurance.
- 37:11Speaker 4: Measles are back. This is ridiculous.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Over two thousand measle cases have been reported in the
- 37:18Speaker 2: US in twenty twenty five. So you've got this ongoing
- 37:21Speaker 2: outbreak and really what we're trying to do is eliminate
- 37:24Speaker 2: these things.
- 37:25Speaker 4: And so now.
- 37:26Speaker 2: You've got a larger anti vax group, which to me,
- 37:31Speaker 2: I still don't see the logic in Yes, in any
- 37:36Speaker 2: mass system of any kind, there are going to be
- 37:40Speaker 2: of those that don't take well to it.
- 37:41Speaker 4: And I get that.
- 37:43Speaker 2: And if it was my kid, yeah, I or my family, yeah,
- 37:47Speaker 2: I'd be pissed off. But you've got these cases popping
- 37:52Speaker 2: up in things that we had a nice grip upon
- 37:55Speaker 2: are starting to come back. So they keep popping up up,
- 38:00Speaker 2: and the federal data is showing that higher annual totals
- 38:04Speaker 2: than the country has seen in decades that we're dealing with.
- 38:08Speaker 3: I will never frustrators stand. I tried to understand the
- 38:12Speaker 3: perspective of people who don't want to get vaccinations, but
- 38:15Speaker 3: I just I don't.
- 38:16Speaker 4: So your daughter's twelve, right, So so five years.
- 38:20Speaker 2: Ago or more now, when the COVID vaccine came out,
- 38:25Speaker 2: was there any hesitation?
- 38:26Speaker 3: Not at all? Okay, because I believe in science. I
- 38:31Speaker 3: believe in research, and we did a lot of reading
- 38:35Speaker 3: and research before we did it, and we felt comfortable
- 38:38Speaker 3: doing it, and there wasn't Hi, guys, come on in.
- 38:42Speaker 3: The engineers are here. Hi, are we in? Is something broken? No,
- 38:46Speaker 3: they're just coming to check on me. We we did
- 38:50Speaker 3: a lot of research and decided it was the best
- 38:53Speaker 3: decision for our family, you know, and we.
- 38:56Speaker 4: Did this exact same thing.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Yeah, but I know it is when you're you know,
- 39:00Speaker 2: Max is even much younger, he's nine, your daughter's twelve,
- 39:04Speaker 2: and it you Yeah, science is wonderful, but science is observational.
- 39:10Speaker 4: And there's.
- 39:13Speaker 2: A tholidamide was used by science at one point too,
- 39:16Speaker 2: So it's there. You know, there are things that we
- 39:18Speaker 2: have to we have to still make decisions as parents, right,
- 39:22Speaker 2: But I, like you, felt this is the best decision,
- 39:26Speaker 2: and we have to we have to rely on those
- 39:32Speaker 2: that investigate and study these things on our behalf. Every
- 39:35Speaker 2: time you go to a doctor of any kind, you're
- 39:38Speaker 2: doing that, and so you just have to.
- 39:40Speaker 3: I mean, we also come from a family where science
- 39:43Speaker 3: is a big importance. My father in law is a researcher.
- 39:47Speaker 3: He has been studying gene cloning and all kinds of
- 39:53Speaker 3: all kinds of research to help cure cancer, certain types
- 39:56Speaker 3: of cancer. He has been a scientist, a research scientist
- 40:00Speaker 3: for many many years at a university. So and hitting
- 40:04Speaker 3: my sister in law same thing, scientists who's into research.
- 40:07Speaker 3: So we you know, may have a different perspective than
- 40:10Speaker 3: a lot of people, but we certainly did. I'm not
- 40:12Speaker 3: somebody who does things on a whim. We read about it,
- 40:14Speaker 3: re researched, yeah, and we felt like it was the
- 40:16Speaker 3: best decision at the time for our family versus the alternative,
- 40:19Speaker 3: which was to be unvaccinated and unprotected in any way.
- 40:25Speaker 4: You know, I've not gotten it, have you? Gotten it.
- 40:26Speaker 3: I have. I even had a booster.
- 40:30Speaker 2: No, I don't mean about the shot. Have you had COVID?
- 40:32Speaker 2: Oh yeah, I've had boosters and all that time.
- 40:34Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I was like, oh, yeah, I have it.
- 40:35Speaker 3: You've never been vaccinated.
- 40:36Speaker 2: Oh of course I have a category, you know, with
- 40:39Speaker 2: a kidney transplant and suppressed the music. Yeah.
- 40:41Speaker 4: Absolutely.
- 40:43Speaker 3: I I think I had it early on during COVID
- 40:48Speaker 3: during the first few months. I think I got it
- 40:50Speaker 3: early on, but I was never I've never had a
- 40:53Speaker 3: positive COVID test.
- 40:54Speaker 2: If I had it, it would have been before it
- 40:57Speaker 2: hit Yeah, because they they're was something that hit me
- 41:01Speaker 2: before in twenty nineteen, November of twenty nineteen, before I
- 41:05Speaker 2: got my surgery, kidney surgery, and they almost didn't give
- 41:08Speaker 2: me the surgery.
- 41:09Speaker 3: Because it knocked you out so bad.
- 41:11Speaker 2: Well, because I had this weird cough that lingered. Oh
- 41:14Speaker 2: and that's the only time. But other than that, my
- 41:16Speaker 2: son's had it. I believe my wife's had it, or
- 41:18Speaker 2: maybe Tracy hasn't had it, but my son has had it,
- 41:23Speaker 2: and most of my family has had it.
- 41:26Speaker 4: But I haven't gotten it. Okay, that's good. Yeah, I
- 41:29Speaker 4: take it.
- 41:29Speaker 3: I don't knock on for then you don't.
- 41:32Speaker 4: Alrighty, that's a little bit of the news for you.
- 41:34Speaker 4: We come back. We got much more to get into.
- 41:36Speaker 2: There's some California new laws for twenty twenty six that
- 41:40Speaker 2: might affect you, and we'll get into those and more,
- 41:43Speaker 2: and maybe I'll open up the phones later.
- 41:45Speaker 4: I don't feel like talking to people.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Live, yeah, live radio like live live, live, dead radio.
- 41:52Speaker 4: Coming to you dead on KFI? All right, this kfi?
- 41:58Speaker 4: What is our kfi? Los Angeles? Heard every going I
- 42:01Speaker 4: Heart Radio. Bye.
