- 1:31games. It's crazy, man, because lineman
- 1:34need love too. And y'all show me a lot of love
- 1:36man. And I'm just, I'm really.
- 1:38I told you guys this. I keep telling you sometimes
- 1:40when I get on and listen or watch y'all y'all got one of the
- 1:44top Vt podcasts in the game, man.
- 1:47And that's that's real. I mean the guests you guys have
- 1:50been having, the topics. It's lovely bro.
- 1:53But thank you. I'm great.
- 1:54I'm blessed. Awesome, awesome.
- 1:57The guest we we just said, you said the guest we'd be having
- 2:01too. You the guest, you the you, the
- 2:03honorary #1 guest. So hey man, we we appreciate you
- 2:10coming in here. We know you got a a lot of
- 2:12things you could be doing or you do have to do.
- 2:15But you choose to spend a little bit of time with us.
- 2:17But we'll jump right in it when we talking about things to do.
- 2:21We know you got kids. We've been keeping up with you,
- 2:24your son playing basketball with your daughter.
- 2:28Your daughter's out there. ODU, right?
- 2:30My. Older daughter, Yeah.
- 2:32Oldest daughter out there. ODU can.
- 2:34I ask you a quick question. Go ahead.
- 2:36How'd she feel after September? How did Daddy lay it on her?
- 2:40Oh, she was salty because she was talking.
- 2:41And a lot of. The first year, her freshman
- 2:45year, even on my dirty, my dirty suburban, she rode in the back
- 2:49of the window. ODU.
- 2:52Whatever. Some little thing.
- 2:53Just trolling, bro. I said you.
- 2:56Grew up a hokey fan? You even went to the Tech UVA
- 2:58game at UVA and we're trolling UVA fans at the UVA bar.
- 3:04You know you're a Victoria, but. She's also a so yeah she was
- 3:09trolling but it felt good because I don't really chalk
- 3:12trash but if anyone knows me, once I talk I I let you have it.
- 3:15And I am also AKA petty Victoria.
- 3:18I keep receipts. I got that Virgo memory, so I
- 3:21remember a lot of stuff. And you know, funny thing, I
- 3:24mentioned my birthday being a Virgo, we play ODU on the 14th.
- 3:27We can't lose that game. That's my birthday.
- 3:32Oh man, they ain't lose that game.
- 3:34We cannot lose that one. Man, I don't care who birthday
- 3:36it's on. We can't lose that.
- 3:37That would be a horrible start. So we we don't get to that.
- 3:41We ain't going to even talk about that.
- 3:43We want to stay on the kids and the family for just a minute.
- 3:46Isaiah state runner up, right? Yeah, two years in a row.
- 3:50Stay runner up. Stay run up who who they get
- 3:52beat by. They lost.
- 3:54You know it's funny. Tally they they played South
- 3:57Lakes. The team they beat early this
- 3:58season who has Jordan Scott. George Scott plays at the South
- 4:01Lakes for those that know Virginia high school basketball.
- 4:04South Lakes, rich in tradition. I was was building 77 Patriots,
- 4:08only 12 years old as a school and Isaiah finished his school.
- 4:12His record at Patriot 89 and 13 and had a great year Just was
- 4:17named Allstate second team all region first team all day.
- 4:20Had a great junior year but just a great career.
- 4:23They played South Lakes early this season and Isaiah was a key
- 4:26factor with 17, seven and seven. Seven boys and seven assists but
- 4:31had a monster dunk that was trending online but South Lakes
- 4:35they would do we miss shots that we would we normally make with
- 4:38our eyes closed. Isaiah who shoot shot this past
- 4:41year 80% from the field. He missed 7 or 8 free throws.
- 4:47He was only one or two or something from the field.
- 4:50It's just that that his team made a long time friend and
- 4:54brother Tay Barbara, who's going to Harvard to play there in the
- 4:57fall. He only scored eleven.
- 4:59He was our leading scorer. He was off, he was 4 or 13 and
- 5:02Desmond the point guard was O of eight from the field.
- 5:06He did have nine points, but it all came at the free throw line.
- 5:09It's just one of those games, man, because you know sometimes
- 5:13you got to tip your hat and say they made the shots, they made
- 5:15the plays and just was just just was a was a tough loss.
- 5:21But you know I look at his career, he's not he's just
- 5:24scratching the surface as a player.
- 5:26You know he's getting a lot of interest and calls.
- 5:29It's it's so different now with the portal he's got.
- 5:33He's got a couple of small offers but he's been contacted
- 5:39by Boston College. Radford has reached out Wagner,
- 5:43who just won. Wagner reached out about him
- 5:45three weeks ago. I know a lot of people are
- 5:48texting and wondering online right now.
- 5:51The deal is we're going to possibly prep because he's only
- 5:5617. He turns 18 in May.
- 5:58He's 6. Seven.
- 5:59He's still. Growing.
- 6:01If we do prep, we'll go forth union, but he's going to play
- 6:03with New World, the AAU organization, one of the best
- 6:06AAU teams in the DMV up here in the DC area, which has a lot of
- 6:10college connections, You know, again, he's going down to ODU to
- 6:16visit his oldest sister. He's going to work out with
- 6:18Jason Wade, just finished his senior year at ODU as a
- 6:21basketball player. So God has a plan.
- 6:24We got a lot of interest with his skill set inside.
- 6:27He can handle the ball, he can play defense, he can guard one
- 6:29through 5. He's coachable, he can score.
- 6:33I mean, he's got things to work on.
- 6:34But right after the loss, just I'll say this so we can move on
- 6:37right after the loss, you know, it's emotional.
- 6:40You watch your son's career end, even though it's a remarkable
- 6:44career. And if you have kids, everyone's
- 6:45going to go through this because when they are hurt and they're
- 6:47sick, you're hurt and you're sick.
- 6:50You know, seeing him breakdown during the runner up trophy
- 6:52presentation, then watching South Lake cheer and celebrate,
- 6:56you can't hide from that disappointment.
- 6:57But it was tough to watch. But then when I think about it,
- 7:02I know God has a plan. It's just different because you
- 7:04have to be patient. You have to be hard, work hard.
- 7:07And he came home rested for a day.
- 7:09And that that weekend, that Sunday and Monday, he was in the
- 7:13gym working out and went in the garage, which is working out.
- 7:17And respect to South Lakes, I got a kid named Jordan Scott.
- 7:20He's got a Tech offer, Virginia Tech, he's got about 22 Power
- 7:24Five offers. His mom played at Michigan
- 7:27State. She's a South Lakes alumni.
- 7:29And then his dad played at Miami.
- 7:32So he's basketball royalty. You guys, if you follow high
- 7:35school basketball, you hear more about him.
- 7:36Again, Tech was there to see him when when Patriot, my son's
- 7:40team, beat him. I thought maybe they might
- 7:42scratch and knock at Isaiah's door.
- 7:44But it's OK We're going to see what happens.
- 7:47And I'm happy. My son had a great career.
- 7:50I mean, you know, he chose. It's weird.
- 7:52He started off with football, but me, Mike and Marcus and all
- 7:55of. Us.
- 7:56They were football. He chose basketball.
- 7:58That's the right thing on, man. Thank you, man.
- 8:03Thank you. We love to hear it, man.
- 8:04We love to hear it. Yeah.
- 8:09Yeah, I mean I saw you, I saw you earlier, you know, you know
- 8:12kind of piggybacking off this with the with the basketball you
- 8:16you had some thoughts on the VHSL?
- 8:20Oh. Gosh, and some of those rules,
- 8:22man. I saw it out there.
- 8:24I figured I had to throw it out there to you.
- 8:26So AB, I've been holding back because I'm very, I'm very
- 8:31aware. Because if I would have been
- 8:33tweeting and talking my son as a sophomore, junior senior.
- 8:37If you saw remember the Titans, man, Virginia is progressed.
- 8:40We're a blue state now. But some people still get, you
- 8:43know, petty. Remember.
- 8:44Remember the Titans? They were trying to blackballed,
- 8:46Denzel trying. To see them, so I didn't.
- 8:50Want to say anything but now that my son's graduating in May,
- 8:55I'm not holding back the VHSL. Even with the voting how they
- 8:58did for Allstate this year, The fact that I grew up in Virginia.
- 9:02I'm a proud Virginian. I played football and basketball
- 9:04for two Hall of Fame coaches, coach, browser and basketball
- 9:07coach Mike Smith. The truth of the matter is it's
- 9:10just different. And I'm not one of those guys.
- 9:11As y'all all know that my day was so much better and AAA, AA
- 9:15and single A was so much better. We are a huge state South.
- 9:19Virginia. Grown.
- 9:20Northern Virginia is booming. I live up here.
- 9:22It's overcrowded. The 757 is growing.
- 9:25Richmond is growing. It's it.
- 9:27You got to have classifications. But in Virginia, we have.
- 9:30Six on basketball and football and all the other sports and
- 9:35each region is done does things differently, even for the
- 9:38playoffs. I'll share this with you and
- 9:40your your viewers and listeners. Classic example.
- 9:43We played Oscars with my son's team played Oscar Smith in the
- 9:46state semis at Hilton high school in Woodbridge or neutral
- 9:49site. But Patriot was the higher seed
- 9:51so they it was up. Here I go to watch OP Girls play
- 9:55Thomas, Dale, Thomas, Dale Girls before my son plays.
- 9:59Back in the day, a double header or triple header was held You
- 10:04you bought your ticket. You were there the whole day
- 10:06night or whatever. The VHSL?
- 10:08No. I see what they were doing.
- 10:10They made us. You had to buy 2 tickets for
- 10:14both games if you were there for the OP Osborne Park Thomas Dale
- 10:18game. The announcer, who is a friend
- 10:21of mine, made an announcement. Security, police and everybody a
- 10:24DS made everyone clear. The gym go back outside after
- 10:28the game was over, wait in the cold and rain and then re enter
- 10:33with your electronic ticket and you had to go back in.
- 10:36It was insane. And I'm just like, what?
- 10:39What? Why?
- 10:40Why? It's just dumb.
- 10:44And it's dumb. And you know, football is at a
- 10:47all time bad. It's all at all time low, I
- 10:49mean. You got three and seven teams,
- 10:52including my alma mater, on the best programs of VHSL history,
- 10:55Hampton High, two years ago, made the playoffs at 3:00 and
- 10:597:00. I played in the year well.
- 11:02My senior year we finished eight and two and we needed a team to
- 11:05lose and we had to beat Bethel because Iverson was locked up.
- 11:08So we ended up winning 20 and seven, but we had to win that
- 11:12game. And I think we needed Norview to
- 11:14lose in Norfolk. And we got in and we lost the
- 11:17NORCOM who won states that year out of porcelain.
- 11:20But that's how hard it was. I don't know, man.
- 11:23We are in a I'm, I'm not gonna stop now that my son's out,
- 11:27'cause I didn't want any shame that's going on.
- 11:29I didn't. But I'm going to speak, and I'm
- 11:30not even one of those guys that stirs the pot.
- 11:33I'm very conscious of what I tweet, what I say.
- 11:36But I'm not going to, I'm not going to lose sight of the fact
- 11:39that what's wrong is wrong, is what's right is right.
- 11:42And it's what you see now in this world with the NCAA, the
- 11:46VHSL, even if you want to get political, even the educational
- 11:51system, there are a lot of people making decisions that
- 11:53don't understand how it affects the people you're making
- 11:56decisions for. From the college football
- 11:58playoffs to conference realignment to NIL the portal,
- 12:02there are a lot of decisions being made and like y'all need
- 12:05to get the right people. In the room, man.
- 12:08That's all I'm going to say, man.
- 12:09It's just crazy. All right.
- 12:11I'm going to jump there because we, I had this to talk later on,
- 12:14but you brought it up. Let's talk about it.
- 12:15Let's talk about NIL, man, because if you look across the
- 12:19boards at sites, you hear people's insights in talking
- 12:22about the Hokies. I mean, it's considered a top 25
- 12:25NIL product. I mean.
- 12:27Top 25 NL product. You don't seem surprised by
- 12:30that. So why?
- 12:32Why? Why don't you?
- 12:33Why are we already there? Go ahead.
- 12:37Brendan Hill, who's now a coaching He's kind of backed off
- 12:40with Twitter, but I would chime in with him because I would try
- 12:43to tell people on Twitter spaces I'm not calling people liars.
- 12:47I'm not that guy. But I know and have always
- 12:50known. But Genia tech collectors have
- 12:52money. As a matter of fact, April 4th
- 12:56or 5th, I'm meeting up with some boosters in Alexandria, city of
- 12:59Alexandria for some cocktails and drinks and dinner where I
- 13:04think my cousin Mike's going to be there, some other former
- 13:06players and some other donors. I'm like, damn bro, we got
- 13:10people that got money like we think about tech.
- 13:12You think about Bruce with Mike and hold on the Today.
- 13:14Show. Nah, bro.
- 13:16We got donors that own construction companies that that
- 13:19that know people like Tony Soprano.
- 13:21We got money to burn, man. Like people just be talking.
- 13:24Like, oh, you know, we don't have it, you know, Yes, that
- 13:28article that came out right before the season started, shed
- 13:31some light in how we weren't or we were misusing stuff or the
- 13:35whole thing with John Boleyn and all of that.
- 13:37But I still know, and I've always known Curtis, we've had a
- 13:41group of people that really care about tech and that donate
- 13:44money. I've been around them, I've hung
- 13:46out with them. I've been even last spring game
- 13:50I was up in the suite with Kevin Jones and all those guys and
- 13:53Aaron Rouse and there was a lot of money up there, a lot of
- 13:55important people, and you wouldn't even know it, man.
- 13:57People think money. You see in the Drip and the
- 13:59jewels a lot of times it's like, Nah, they got they got on some
- 14:03khakis from TJ Maxx and the Polo.
- 14:05It's not what you think, and they're real chill.
- 14:07But in all seriousness, man, we have a great in our in IL,
- 14:12Triumph is doing a great job, and there are a lot of people
- 14:15who really want to see Virginia Tech succeed in all sports and
- 14:18they're donating their time and money.
- 14:20I'm seeing it. Good to hear.
- 14:23Yeah. And I mean we it's been a whole
- 14:25lot from a national perspective in terms of nil and in terms of
- 14:29some of these other things that we're that we're talking about.
- 14:32I mean you got, you know, you got one team that's like
- 14:36unionizing players. You know there might be you know
- 14:39there's talk of like in the future trying to get collected,
- 14:41bargaining on the table. Like what are your thoughts on
- 14:45nil and how it's trying to, you know, move forward with these
- 14:48new, these new type of rules? I'm learning more about it every
- 14:53day, every week, every month. I I mean, I don't.
- 14:56I've never thought that it was a bad thing.
- 14:58I've always just wanted some parameters.
- 15:01I just saw an article this morning about Anne Anne.
- 15:04What's her name? Reese.
- 15:05Angela Reese. Angel Reese.
- 15:07Angel Reese talk. About how discouraged she was
- 15:11and surprised how she had to pay taxes on her nil money.
- 15:15And when I used to write. I told people this Michael go to
- 15:19jail for tax evasion in the middle of the tournament.
- 15:21Listen, bro and Curtis, I I wrote an article.
- 15:24As you all know, I used to write for 247 Sports and before that I
- 15:27used to write for Rivals and Hokey Haven.
- 15:30One of my favorite articles I wrote wasn't even my best one,
- 15:32but it was one of my favorites 'cause I can relate to it was
- 15:35the fact that I've always felt life skills wasn't was essential
- 15:40in helping people understand the student athletes and students in
- 15:43general on how to manage money and and what it meant to have
- 15:48the understanding of being adult and being self-sufficient.
- 15:51And that's my only concern because we've seen the 30, four
- 15:5530s, the Sports Illustrated articles about how 78% of NFL
- 16:00and 79% of NBA players go broke after being done.
- 16:04And I just think that it's still an issue.
- 16:07And I mean, it's just 'cause you don't think the money is going
- 16:09to run out. I remember when we used to get
- 16:10our bowl per DM, bro, just get our bowl per DM for the Sugar
- 16:13Bowl and Orange Bowl, and that was back in the late 90s.
- 16:16I know these guys are getting way more than what we got.
- 16:18I remember getting my money and I, you know, when I went to five
- 16:21straight Bulls. So my red shirt.
- 16:23Yeah, you know, it was, it was nothing.
- 16:24But like my sophomore, junior, senior year, I was like, you get
- 16:28the gear, but you could opt out and say, you know what, keep
- 16:30that gear, give me the money. And I remember getting like.
- 16:34$700.00 or 800 for one bowl game.
- 16:37And I just remember going back home to the 757, even when we
- 16:41got back to Roanoke, Blacksburg, going to New River Valley Mall
- 16:44and just buying up, just going crazy, you know?
- 16:49And you realize that ain't no money but you know, we no, I I
- 16:53was just happy. But then my last couple years, I
- 16:56remember like saving a little bit, getting my mom and my
- 16:59girlfriend who was not my wife's gift.
- 17:00And you know, spending money and managing money is a skill.
- 17:03It's not. It's, it needs to become
- 17:05habitual when it comes to saving.
- 17:06And you know, old girl Reese is one of the many people that's
- 17:09going to get caught up. But I I think it's a good thing.
- 17:12But I think if you don't have leadership or some type of
- 17:15systematic approach involved, they can get messy.
- 17:18And I think, you know, I know a lot of people have been on Saban
- 17:20about his comments when he went in front of Congress about it.
- 17:25I don't know Nick Saban. He never recruited me.
- 17:27I've never had a conversation with him.
- 17:28I know my cousin knows him, but at the end of the day, I have to
- 17:32respect what he's saying. But at the same time, we're all
- 17:35part of the monster that made this, the mess that it is.
- 17:38We all helped create it. I mean I posted you know, B, you
- 17:42follow me on Instagram, my personal stuff and you follow me
- 17:45on like so you know how funny I like to be with movies and
- 17:48clips. You know, I I even posted on
- 17:50Twitter about my man from blue trips who went in there.
- 17:53The white dude that was, you know, wanted the tractor for his
- 17:55dad. And he was the first guy that
- 17:58came in try to secure the bag. And he, he told the coach, he
- 18:01was like, I'm a white player, American, you know, bred or
- 18:04whatever. I'm paraphrasing.
- 18:06I like to get $30,000 cash. And he was just talking about
- 18:09what he needed after the recruiting visit.
- 18:12And I was like, damn, that was in the early 90s.
- 18:16So that stuff has been going on. And now?
- 18:18Look, I I wrote for Rivals in 247, so I interviewed a lot of
- 18:23prospects over the last year, talked to him.
- 18:25You know, I I've been around. I was just talking to Tim Suttle
- 18:28yesterday, Tim Suttle Junior yesterday, congratulate him on
- 18:30his deal with the Texans. So I've been around this even
- 18:33before my son was playing ball and I know what goes on.
- 18:36So this is nothing new. So in a lot of ways, don't get
- 18:40mad when kids are getting even more greedy.
- 18:42When the NCAA has been greedy, college coaches have been
- 18:46greedy. We've all been greedy.
- 18:48We've all been greedy. You know the NFL added in one
- 18:51additional game, So you know it is what it is, man.
- 18:54Now you created a monster where kids, you know, know their worth
- 18:57and they want money. And it's not about coming from a
- 19:00situation from the South or from up north where you don't have
- 19:02much. It doesn't matter if you grow up
- 19:04in the suburban environment. These kids want to get paid.
- 19:08I come from a different time where you just won the
- 19:10scholarship. You want the chance to get a
- 19:12degree and go to the NFL. These kids want.
- 19:14I mean, look at Baker with UNCI. Feel like he's been there seven
- 19:17years, you know, so he wants to get paid and he's probably
- 19:23living very well. You know, I mean I I tell you
- 19:28it's wild and we talk about the system all the time and you know
- 19:31I I've been on record as you know I I'm very pro NIL, I'm
- 19:34very pro player across the board.
- 19:36I do think that having some guardrails up there is
- 19:39necessary. But when we think about the
- 19:40history of college football, I mean, and just looking at the
- 19:43last, you know, 20 to 30 years, I mean the money made off the
- 19:48backs of players, it's incredible.
- 19:51And when you think about the ramifications of the bag
- 19:54dropping game, the player is the one that gets screwed the most
- 19:57if that shit comes to light. Speaking facts B.
- 20:02Look at the end of the day. Man, At the end of the day, man,
- 20:05my best example is my cousin. Because I was there, I recruited
- 20:09him at Tech. His mom was driving the school
- 20:12bus. He lived in Easton Newton News
- 20:15where my grandmother stayed, my Nana, my dad grew up.
- 20:17Easton Newton News then and now is no damn joke.
- 20:21He didn't even have a suit for the Heisman.
- 20:24I've talked about this on your show previously in other
- 20:26platforms, and the truth of the matter is, is that he made Tech
- 20:33A. Lot of money.
- 20:35I mean, think about this. He is still in 2024, an icon.
- 20:40Their kids, nine years old, I meet.
- 20:42They're like Michael Vick and I'm like yo, you nine years old,
- 20:46bro. I'm just telling you and think
- 20:49about like because tech was already doing very good.
- 20:52I'm. I was part of the build.
- 20:53I'm I'm. I was there when it started.
- 20:55But Mike just put this. In a zone where after that
- 20:58national championship game, everybody was recruiting
- 21:01quarterbacks like him, he gave birth.
- 21:03Not figuratively, but, you know, in the sense of marketing to
- 21:06Lamar Jackson and Russell, Sam, Newt, and this goes on on my
- 21:11own. And then you look at what he did
- 21:13for Virginia Tech. I mean, when I got to tech in
- 21:1594, man, we had like 3 hotels, bro.
- 21:18I mean, it's crazy now with all the little overpass and
- 21:21underpass and all these different exits in the roads.
- 21:24So NI LS crazy, man. But, you know, I think about how
- 21:28Mike was living, you know, in an apartment like a regular college
- 21:31student. He didn't have a bunch of money
- 21:32and he wasn't. People thought he was getting
- 21:35paid like that. He wasn't.
- 21:36Not under Beamer's watch. And one last point before we
- 21:39move to the next question. I've always said this, I've
- 21:42talked about this on on other other platforms.
- 21:45Virginia Tech isn't even now with the booming of Southwest
- 21:48Virginia and the growth of the campus, unlike Georgia Tech and
- 21:53Miami, which is in South Beach. And this is going to sound
- 21:56crazy, but hear me out. It's tough to cheat.
- 21:59Or do what Miami and other schools did.
- 22:01Because if you have a Hummer or you got prostitution or
- 22:06helicopters picking your girlfriend up.
- 22:08Everybody in Blacksburg and rapper and Floyd and everywhere
- 22:13what's going on. It is in college town, so even
- 22:19when I was. There, back in the day.
- 22:21You know, or even when I go back and it's.
- 22:23Grown. So much, but it's still a
- 22:25Southwest. If you can't do all that stuff
- 22:28you did at other schools because Atlanta is always jumping.
- 22:32You got Georgia Tech, Georgia. It's a lot to do.
- 22:35People go there, you know, to do other stuff, to get wings at the
- 22:39club where Gilbert Arenas and then hang out.
- 22:41You got concerts and all that. We had concerts at Tech where
- 22:45they came to Radford or Virginia Tech or most likely Roanoke.
- 22:49So it's tough to get stuff jumped off there because
- 22:51everybody's going to know what you driving and you ain't going
- 22:54to hear. About no Kingpin setting up shop
- 22:57in Blacksburg. It just ain't happening.
- 23:01Tell me what you got on this man.
- 23:03He had to jump off for a second day.
- 23:05Yeah, well, I I got a lot, but I ain't going to go into all of
- 23:10what I got. But I did want to say this from
- 23:12earlier. Virginia high school basketball.
- 23:15Alabama high school basketball. High school basketball in
- 23:18general. Get a fucking shot clock.
- 23:21Please. That's what I need y'all to do.
- 23:25Get a fucking shot, please. Proud of seeing people get a six
- 23:28to two lead and hold a ball at the top of the key for a whole
- 23:32quarter. That shit needs to stop now back
- 23:36to your regular schedule program.
- 23:37Hey, look, NIF. Hey, Tally.
- 23:40Look real quick. What's?
- 23:41Crazy I'm in the DMV with you here that DC, Maryland and
- 23:44Northern Virginia, right? DC and Maryland, right beside
- 23:48us, have shot clocks for high school basketball.
- 23:51You. Know what I know?
- 23:52But yet the VHSL last summer this past summer approved
- 23:57student athletes to get nil money, which I thought was
- 24:00insane because this is a conservative group of people
- 24:03that you won't get a shot clock. You get a shot clock.
- 24:07They get 40 seconds. Make it.
- 24:09Make it 60 seconds they. Get the shot clock.
- 24:11They don't. Care about the integrity of the
- 24:12game, man. They they they're worried about.
- 24:14You know they're. Worried about other shit?
- 24:15Oh boy. Things line in their pockets.
- 24:18Hey, let me ask you this. Dwight, one more question on NIL
- 24:21before we jump through the next subject.
- 24:23Next 10 years. How important is it for the
- 24:26program to have that right support staff like like, I mean
- 24:30are we going to have to have financial planners on staff for
- 24:34all the like, You just got a $80,000 that you need to go down
- 24:38there and see John. John knows what to help you do
- 24:40with the money, help you invest it.
- 24:42He'll tell you if it's a good purchase.
- 24:44I mean is that going to become we going to have like financial
- 24:48planners sitting on staff 10 years from now, you?
- 24:50Know you need it because here's the thing, you're getting money
- 24:52in college. You're getting money in high
- 24:53school, Curtis. And on top of it, I remember my,
- 24:56my, my cousin Mike was talking about.
- 24:58He was sitting in A room with Jim Kelly's brother, the great
- 25:01quarterback for the Buffalo Bills, and he said his, you
- 25:05know, his brother had a financial management company and
- 25:07they were also agents. And I was talking with Mike
- 25:10after the meeting. He was like, you know, they had
- 25:12flow charts and portfolios. Yeah, where we come from the 757
- 25:16then and and now we didn't grow up around that shit.
- 25:19We, we, I, I, I went to a public school, had to hide and get air
- 25:22conditioned until my senior year.
- 25:24We went to school. So if it was too hot we had to
- 25:27get out early. We had inhumane living
- 25:29conditions and and in regards to going to school it was very
- 25:32difficult and you're supposed to be in a conducive learning
- 25:34environment. We come, I don't get all deep
- 25:37like we come from the mud in the slums cause Virginia Beach and
- 25:40Chesapeake have some very great places to live and reside.
- 25:43So there's Hampton. I lived in the good neighborhood
- 25:45once we moved on Shell Rd. But my point being is, man, a
- 25:48lot of us then and now don't know unless you come from a home
- 25:52where you have family that teaches about four O 1 and 450
- 25:55sevens and portfolios and just saving your money and putting
- 26:00some aside. We just trying to get turned up
- 26:02and just get something in. A lot of times, man, even when I
- 26:05got a little bit of money, I got, I just send some back home,
- 26:08you know what I'm saying? And it's just the way it is and
- 26:10it's not even a black or white thing.
- 26:12It's just more so an awareness thing because there's some white
- 26:15people and other people that come from environments where
- 26:17they don't know. Either, but my point being is
- 26:19this. The game is changing and Price
- 26:22seems to have a good pulse on what's going on.
- 26:25And I've always felt that coaches that get ahead of stuff
- 26:28that look ahead, they'll set their players up to be straight.
- 26:33Because I can tell you right now, despite my complaining or
- 26:36my concerns, the money in college football and basketball
- 26:40is going to grow. It is.
- 26:42It's so funny how when we talk about recessions or whatever,
- 26:44when it comes to sports, the money's still there.
- 26:47It's just crazy. Matter of fact, I heard this
- 26:49morning on one of my sports shows, I listen to they talking
- 26:52about expanding the NCAA tournament again.
- 26:55Yeah. You know what I'm saying?
- 26:57And look, gambling. I know I got my parlays.
- 27:00You know, I'm on 5-6. Money is crazy right now, man.
- 27:04Like everybody's gambling. I know Shorty's in the gambling
- 27:07right now, man. It's crazy.
- 27:09So first, yeah, they're going to have to get that man, because.
- 27:12If you're going. To preach family, you're going
- 27:13to preach this. Is home.
- 27:14It's not just text if you're going to really want to look out
- 27:17for these young men, you know. We.
- 27:19You have your Jerrod Evans and you have your quarterbacks and
- 27:23your star players. You got Chyron, drones and all
- 27:27those guys who I think is going to be a Heisman candidate when
- 27:30it's all said and done. But you also have your middle of
- 27:33the pack players who are going to get a smaller deals and they
- 27:36need help. You know they need help.
- 27:38We need to what do I do with $30,000?
- 27:41You know what do I mean? For real?
- 27:42Think about when you are 19. What $30,000 would like 'cause I
- 27:46remember when my shit. I'm 38.
- 27:47And if I got I'm 38 and if I got 30,000 it's gonna get blue right
- 27:52now. Yo-yo, that's crazy.
- 27:55My cousin called me. I was living in Fairfax.
- 27:58I'd just gotten married in 2001. He was the first overall pick.
- 28:01I remember Mike called me and was like, yo, Dwight, man, come
- 28:03down and live with me. I'll take.
- 28:04Care of you. And he was just talking to me
- 28:06about the money he got. And then when I went down there
- 28:09about four years, five years later, he was the face of the
- 28:11league. This is when Brady and Manning
- 28:13was still playing and he was getting ready to sign a record
- 28:16contract. He was the highest paid player
- 28:18in the NFL. He was about to be.
- 28:20And I remember sitting with him, we were in Atlanta and we were
- 28:23in the gated community where Little Bow Wow Live, David
- 28:26Justice and Alley Berry win a ladder.
- 28:28Like, you can't even go in his neighborhood, right?
- 28:31We in there, me and him hanging out and I remember he showed me
- 28:34on his laptop just. Pulled it up, he said.
- 28:37Yo, sometimes I just stare at this man and there was his bank
- 28:40account. I remember seeing to this day.
- 28:42It's crazy. It's like seeing.
- 28:43The golden ticket you got from Willy Wonka, it was crazy,
- 28:46'cause I was looking at the screen, it was like $27 million
- 28:51and you go from getting per diem from Bruce and Berlin, $10 a
- 28:58week. That was the game money we got.
- 29:00Or bowl game money to $27 million, bro.
- 29:04That's crazy. Curtain.
- 29:05That's crazy. That's.
- 29:05Crazy. It's crazy.
- 29:07Shit. Well, you hit on.
- 29:08You was hitting on a lot of stuff, man.
- 29:10And I know, I know we ain't got you all night tonight.
- 29:13I know we got some other stuff to do.
- 29:14But we talked a couple things that no, you all good.
- 29:18You all good. I I I wanted to to chime in a
- 29:21little bit with the Triumph NIL that that Virginia Tech has.
- 29:28From what I hear, you know I'm just a fan.
- 29:30But reliable sources tell me that Triumph has Virginia Tech
- 29:36moving in the right direction. In the NIL.
- 29:38They said they already have people in place that are talking
- 29:42to kids about financial planning, which is awesome.
- 29:46So everybody, you know, you should feel good out there.
- 29:50I think we moving in the right direction.
- 29:52But Dwight, we want to get it, you know, change it up just a
- 29:56little bit, start talking some high school recruiting.
- 29:58You know what I'm saying, 'cause we know you are boots on the
- 30:01ground as far as knowing a lot of these kids, knowing knowing
- 30:05the areas and things like that. And you say it, you know a a few
- 30:09minutes ago that you feel like Pry had gotten out ahead of some
- 30:12things and he was doing some things right.
- 30:14So we've seen an uptick in recruiting in Virginia,
- 30:17specifically the 757. What is resonating right now?
- 30:21Like, what is he doing that's got got Virginia taking the
- 30:25uptick? You know what's crazy bro is.
- 30:29He's following Beamer's blueprint.
- 30:31He's making it more modern. I I kept saying all Fuente had
- 30:35to do was just evolve and build on Beamer's blueprint and make
- 30:39it more modern and, you know, get on social media, be more
- 30:43hip, talk to the fans and you know, we got this guy coming and
- 30:48roll out the red carpet. And I'm telling you, man, Prize
- 30:52is doing what makes sense, the crazy thing now.
- 30:54And it's crazy how quickly this thing is turned around between
- 30:58Triumph and the collectives and what you got going on with them
- 31:01and how they're connecting with the former players and the
- 31:05superstar former players and current players.
- 31:07And then you look at what Pry is doing.
- 31:09It's a really good hustle. Right now and hustle in a good
- 31:12way. It's a great marriage.
- 31:13Right now, Pry is making Virginia Tech hip again.
- 31:17Like, I I don't know how. I'm just telling you, I'm a
- 31:20Virginian and I remember in the 90s and even the early 2000s.
- 31:24When I was done playing, but I was still like a former player
- 31:27where I just finished playing. I was still playing some pro
- 31:30ball and working out for NFL scouts and doing arena ball.
- 31:33And when I went home in the 2000s or when I was in DC when I
- 31:38went to Chicago one time people knew about Tech.
- 31:41I remember I would have on Tech Sweatshu who on video games.
- 31:44This is back when East Bay was popping and when you went to,
- 31:48when you went to Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, New for News or the
- 31:50804 in Richmond, it was like, yo, I'm trying to go to Tech.
- 31:54Like you understand something, man.
- 31:56A lot of those guys we missed out on with Tech fans.
- 31:58Derek, Naughty, Josh Sweat, they were all Tech growing up.
- 32:03Smoke. Mizelle was a Tech fan.
- 32:05Andrew Brown was a Tech fan. I'm naming guys.
- 32:08We burned that thoroughbred bridge man.
- 32:13And and see again, that's funny you said that because Pry knows
- 32:17Coach Red and the coat boys. The coat boys are a group down
- 32:21to 757 that have tons of guys. In the 757 that only seven on
- 32:26seven teams that are really young in the upcoming studs and
- 32:30the truth of the matter is, is that they.
- 32:33No pride and they no tech. And he just for the lack of a
- 32:38better, you know, phrase or whatever, he's just making tech
- 32:40great again. He's making them hip like, and
- 32:42then we still have a long way to go to get back to where we want
- 32:45to. Because my goal, I'm surprised.
- 32:47The same goal is to exceed the expectations of just 10 and 11
- 32:51win seasons, but to be relevant to the point where when you wake
- 32:54up on Sunday morning, you expect to see us in.
- 32:56The top 15 top. 12 in the rain. So yeah, man, like.
- 32:59Kids are. The thing about it is, man, kids
- 33:01are checking for. Tech now, man.
- 33:04They're checking for tech like kids in in Norfolk.
- 33:07Like they're like yeah, I'm going to tech.
- 33:09You going to you got to understand something.
- 33:11I know the the true story Tom. Rod, tell us my.
- 33:14God. He played in my high school.
- 33:16We go for Hampton High Crabbers. He saw me play.
- 33:19I remember. Seeing Tom as a middle schooler.
- 33:22Throwing the ball at my neighbor's house, 'cause he was
- 33:24tight with their grandson and Tyrod knew.
- 33:27About tech and when Tyrod was being recruited, him and Ryan
- 33:31Williams and all that met up one time.
- 33:32I don't know if they would attract me or whatever, but they
- 33:35were somewhere. They were like, yo, I'm feeling
- 33:37tech, man. I'm going to go there like.
- 33:39You know, remember now, we used to be so cool.
- 33:41We had household names like Marcus Vick, Aaron Rouse and all
- 33:45those guys. And I remember we playing NC
- 33:47State one time on. A a Saturday night game.
- 33:50It was the 2005 season and we were at NC State first time
- 33:54playing them and I remember we scored a touchdown and Marcus
- 33:57and them pose like Marcus and Hyman and Justin Harper and all
- 34:02the guys on the end zone and they were posing, taking
- 34:04pictures and they were doing like this and they were doing
- 34:06like that. DJ Parker and all those guys.
- 34:10We had so many Virginians and they were just superstars in
- 34:13their own state. And it became, I remember Chris
- 34:17Chris Coleman for Tech sideline said Virginia Tech is Virginia's
- 34:21favorite team because you know, the Washington commanders then
- 34:25the Redskins were trash. They, you know, they were owned
- 34:28by Snyder. UVA was still rebuilding.
- 34:31They've been rebuilding for a long time and you know, Liberty
- 34:34didn't even have football or they were whatever.
- 34:36I don't even think they have football yet.
- 34:38OU didn't have football. We were the team, you know, and
- 34:41you had the entrance, You had the fan, the alumni and the one
- 34:44thing I want to say real quick and we can go to the next
- 34:46question, the alumni and fan base, despite this transition
- 34:50from Beamer to Fuente to Pry, they're one reason why we've
- 34:54been able to right the ship. Because as bad as we've been and
- 34:57underachieved as we've been, great podcasts like yours, Don
- 35:02V, all these other shows and the fan base cause Virginia Tech fan
- 35:06base on Twitter is lit all the time.
- 35:08It could be a Tuesday night and we're lit.
- 35:10So when we come, you give us a product that's worth watching.
- 35:13Last year at home, Virginia Tech was on fire.
- 35:16And so, yeah, Virginia Tech recruits.
- 35:21Virginia Tech recruits were there to see it like it.
- 35:24It felt that game against Syracuse felt so much like the
- 35:28overhyped Miami. Game when we hosted Percy Harvin
- 35:32and over 200 recruits. We went to bed that night.
- 35:35We didn't play well, but we had. So many people there because
- 35:38Virginia Tech was in the top three in the nation. #5 in me,
- 35:42you. Believe.
- 35:43Yeah. So, you know, just.
- 35:45I know what's the long. Answer, but I just feel like it
- 35:47was relevant to the to the question all.
- 35:49Right, Dwight, Real quick. I'm going to throw this in there
- 35:52before I throw out the Curtis give me because you always do
- 35:55this when you come on give me. I usually say one.
- 35:59I'm going to say two kids that we need to look out for.
- 36:04I ain't saying they going to Virginia Tech.
- 36:06I'm just say 2 Virginia kids. That's 25 kids that we need to
- 36:11be looking for. I don't have a cause.
- 36:14I've been in basketball mode. So OK with that next time we do
- 36:18our our season preview. But I do have a kid I'm very
- 36:22high on and it's going to sound like a Homer.
- 36:25But this kid, his name is Jackson Mccarter.
- 36:28And there's another kid. I got 2 for you, but one you
- 36:31probably heard of Jackson Mccarter.
- 36:33Is a running back. He is super fast.
- 36:36He runs track at Patriot, but he plays football.
- 36:39He was just there on a visit last week.
- 36:41You probably saw me retweet his teeth, his tweet.
- 36:44He is an animal. I'm telling you right now, he's
- 36:48a kid. One of those kids that's a
- 36:50Virginia Tech guy. Like he just, he can run the
- 36:54football and he gets out. You're not catching him.
- 36:56But the number one guy? I really wish we can land.
- 36:59I hope. We can land him.
- 37:00I've seen him play since he was nine years old.
- 37:03His name is Jeff Overton Junior. He played the Freedom
- 37:06Woodbridge. Oh yeah, we heard about it.
- 37:08We knew. I coached against him and youth
- 37:11ball. My son played against him.
- 37:14And then, of course, my son went to basketball.
- 37:15Jeff stuck with football. His dad won the state
- 37:18championship. His dad is his coach.
- 37:20His uncle just went back-to-back state championships at Freedom
- 37:24Woodbridge last this past season over my my brother Lauren
- 37:27Johnson at Highland Springs and then the previous year he won
- 37:33against. I forgot the team not
- 37:36Stonebridge but they they won back-to-back state championships
- 37:39and Jeffrey Overton junior. If you ever see his tape, he is
- 37:43going to. Remind you of Reggie Bush?
- 37:47He is. He is electric, he can cash, he
- 37:50can run and he is shifty and he is a playmaker.
- 37:53He has offers from NCI, mean NC State will probably.
- 37:56I know he has an offer from Ohio State and Clemson and.
- 37:59He's been to Tech a few times. Tech was just in with their
- 38:02entire staff, or at least five of them To meet with him a
- 38:05couple of months ago up here in the seven O 3, he is an animal.
- 38:08I'm telling you right now, Jeffrey Overton, Junior, he's a
- 38:13he is a game changer. He's a program changer.
- 38:16Remember, I said, Pride has to start.
- 38:18Stacking his Mount Rushmore recruits.
- 38:20That's the guy like you look with Tooting doing he he is
- 38:24Tooting already like Tooting with how he's all-purpose shards
- 38:28kickoff returns. Jeffrey Overton Junior is the
- 38:31same kind of back you get again like Brandon Orr the moment he
- 38:35touched and he's like boom, boom boom even better.
- 38:39Now here's the thing you got to keep recruiting him.
- 38:42That's when that NIO money I'm. I've never talked to his dad
- 38:46about his son. I don't do all that.
- 38:48I didn't get involved with Greg. Stroman's recruiting or Tim
- 38:50Settle juniors? But I will.
- 38:51Tell you you got to take care of him because he's going to have
- 38:54even more people on him. His his uncle just left freedom
- 38:56and he's coaching at Hay Field up in Alexandria now.
- 38:59But they're going to be a contended again for States
- 39:01because his uncle Darrell Overton is a phenomenal coach.
- 39:04He's an offers a genius and then the last guy I'll throw out
- 39:07there is a guy y'all probably are familiar with.
- 39:09Man is Peanut, Lauren Johnson's youngest son.
- 39:12He's a linebacker. He's one of those guys.
- 39:15Again you have his brother there Breeland at Tech but Peanut is
- 39:20even got more dog in him and he's got offers from Auburn SEC
- 39:25schools. He's a heart and soul of
- 39:27Highland Springs defense. And we got a little bit of a
- 39:30pipeline going with Holly Springs.
- 39:31I like that because those guys win.
- 39:34And I feel like what Beamer always did a great job of is
- 39:36getting winners. And one thing I know from.
- 39:38Even my son being. Recruited.
- 39:39Is that coaches that know how to coach like winners and talented
- 39:44players. So keep those names in your back
- 39:47pocket, man. I'm gonna keep in the back
- 39:49pocket. And he almost took my next
- 39:51question because give me this, because you talked about
- 39:55coaching winners. We know how many team captains,
- 39:57We know how many guys who are breaking state records, whether
- 40:00it be Virginia, North Carolina, other parts.
- 40:02But as guys who are sitting there on campus, do y'all notice
- 40:06that? Like, you know, like the way
- 40:09they carry themselves. Or like like for example, the
- 40:13running back from North Carolina who ran for 13.7 yards to carry
- 40:17down in North Carolina last year.
- 40:18Which is insane, Doesn't matter at the level.
- 40:20It's insane. You can do that.
- 40:22But when they walk in, what is that?
- 40:24Does it mean that the guys on the team see that and say that
- 40:28guy plays his heart out, he plays a dog, That guy's got a
- 40:31level head. He's our captain.
- 40:33That guy won two state titles. Do you think about that?
- 40:37When they come in? Or is it now you're down here
- 40:39now? Or is it how you come in and
- 40:41carry yourself? It's a level of you got to earn
- 40:44your spot here. But we know real recognize real.
- 40:48I know I hate y'all with the early 2000 hip hop reference,
- 40:50but you real recognize real like you recognize a dog when you see
- 40:55one. And we talk, I mean.
- 40:57Again, this is before social media, so I know they do it now.
- 41:01Everybody has that high school pride like we them Florida boys,
- 41:05even when they were on the team. We'll talk about Florida boys
- 41:07and high school players. When I was there, we talked
- 41:10about Ronald Curry and Mike Vick, everyone.
- 41:12Knew. Yo, big Victoria.
- 41:14Dwight. Victoria constantly talks about
- 41:16his cousin Mike. I told everybody that would
- 41:18listen. Y'all talking about Ronald
- 41:20Curry. And I love Ronald.
- 41:21He's one of the best quarterbacks in the history of
- 41:24the high school football. But you know when.
- 41:28You got a guy that comes in you like, yo, we got to get this
- 41:31guy. You know, listen, you know
- 41:33Curtis, when you're in practice. And you see a young guy you
- 41:37like, yo, man, he should be playing like the older guys
- 41:40whisper to each other. Like I remember texting coaches
- 41:44at Tech like, why the hell are you are not playing Wyatt Teller
- 41:48More start his ass. What are we doing?
- 41:51And then I got that BS. Well, you know, the guy who runs
- 41:53the senior and I'm like, man, Wyatt Teller is a Cyborg.
- 41:57He. Is an animal.
- 41:59He is. He's got that, you know and.
- 42:02Look, you Curtis, you talk to anybody.
- 42:04It's not even a Virginia Tech thing.
- 42:05You know when the car comes on his visit, it's not even about
- 42:08the look for the eye test. You just you.
- 42:10You especially now with with these things you see Twitter,
- 42:14you hear about people because everybody in the locker was
- 42:16like, yo, man, I got a cousin in Georgia, he's coming up here on
- 42:19a visit. He just won the.
- 42:21State 4 by 1. And he also hoops like guys knew
- 42:26about Logan Thomas before he got the Virginia Tech.
- 42:28Like you knew when Logan Thomas walked in, you had already heard
- 42:32about Logan Thomas because he was killing it.
- 42:34And a lot of times you hear about these guys because they're
- 42:38really good guys that especially during tech's heyday and what
- 42:41you see with prize, you know about them from the state
- 42:44championships. I remember seeing Greg Deutsch
- 42:48and I remember when Fuente first got to Tech.
- 42:50He was at the state semis when Lauren Johnson and were hosting
- 42:54Indian River and Indian River had a linebacker going to
- 42:56Alabama and then they had another linebacker coming to
- 42:59Tech. End up committing the tech, but
- 43:01Greg Doris put on the show and Greg Doris said please give me
- 43:05the tech offer. What's crazy about that is in
- 43:08that game you had Greg Doris, you wanted to go to Tech, you
- 43:11had Kevon Wallace, who won three national championships at
- 43:14Clemson, who wore #12 because of Lauren Johnson, and he wanted to
- 43:19come to Tech. And we didn't pull the trigger.
- 43:22So we went in high school and you're at Tech.
- 43:25You know about those dogs? In Virginia, Maryland and DCI,
- 43:29Remember Josh Morgan talking? About guys, he's younger than
- 43:32me, but I remember you meet guys that are, you know, spring game
- 43:35and you see the guys with those like passes on the sideline.
- 43:38He was like, yo, see that kid right there?
- 43:40From a Brian Edmonds, God rest his soul, told me about Macho
- 43:43Harris. Macho Harris was at the spring
- 43:46game and he said listen to that boy right there, Macho Harris.
- 43:51I said what's his name? He said Macho.
- 43:53I said what's his real name? Macho.
- 43:55So that's how So his name, that was his nickname, 'cause he was
- 43:59so good. We know his real name, he said.
- 44:01I Brian Edmonds and three other dudes from the eight O 4 from
- 44:04the Rich, Marion said. Look, if he come here, he's a
- 44:06game changer. And so you know about it and
- 44:09look what Macho did when the few guys that play both offense and.
- 44:12Defense would be so. You know, Curtis, you know, you
- 44:16know about those dogs on the way.
- 44:17You know, listen, you know when you get the guy, man.
- 44:20Look, I I'm going to tell you this.
- 44:22I know for a fact everybody in that locker.
- 44:25Room knew Drones should have been on the field earlier than
- 44:27when he was. Everybody.
- 44:28Oh, here we go. Everybody knew.
- 44:30Everybody knew. Everybody knew.
- 44:32Everybody knew. I'd be hit him up.
- 44:34I'll be we we already there. Let's go ahead and talk about 24
- 44:37three a little bit. I mean I know, I know you know
- 44:40that we were on record after the spring game saying start the.
- 44:43Band. Everybody on this podcast said
- 44:46it all right. Y'all do it.
- 44:49We did, you know, let's talk about that a little bit.
- 44:51You know, you get off to a slow start.
- 44:53You know, you, you, you start one quarterback, you're working
- 44:57another one in. How do you think in the locker
- 45:02room this played out? And you know, no one really
- 45:04hitting the panic button that early after a rough one and
- 45:07three start? Well hold hold on Dwight, before
- 45:10you even answer that, before you even answer that.
- 45:12We got to go back to 2022 in the when we when we talk about the
- 45:17Twitter space when when everybody was going to jump into
- 45:21the lake of fire and you had to talk everybody off the ledge
- 45:24with with with LJ. When we went down there and lost
- 45:27the ODU, got our ass beat, they stole our stuff.
- 45:30We got trapped in the elevator. It was just a bad night.
- 45:34You had people following you to your car talking jump.
- 45:37All of that stuff went down. You talked us off the ledge in
- 45:402022. Now we going to go to 2023.
- 45:43Yep. You know we know what happened
- 45:45in 2022. We in 2023 what we start B1 and
- 45:49three, One and three. OK, we one and three.
- 45:53Now you take us to what? Big Victoria?
- 45:55What, Dwight? Well.
- 45:56I was checking in with people that I could check in with you
- 45:59and the word on the street was that it was time to see drones
- 46:02take over, the take over as the quarterback.
- 46:05And the truth of the matter is I was on the on the, on the my.
- 46:09I had the mindset of I'm a trust pride to the wheels fall off.
- 46:13I still trust pride, but I think it's one of those things where
- 46:16Brent pride, he's been on your show.
- 46:18He's one of those guys that takes ownership of his success
- 46:21but also of his mistakes and mishaps or misses.
- 46:23And I knew he was going to get it right.
- 46:26I think drones came in and Tyler, you talked about this on
- 46:29your on this pod with you guys and in the Twitter space is
- 46:32that, you know he came in even in that game against Purdue and
- 46:36showed us that he had the moxie and the right attitude.
- 46:39I think sometimes you have to figure things out, but I do
- 46:42remember when Tyrod got there and Tyrod was a five star, one
- 46:49of the few five stars Tech has gotten along with the Fuller
- 46:51brother. And Sean Glennon was a damn good
- 46:54quarterback. He won an ACC championship and
- 46:56he wanted some games, but everybody knew Tyronn.
- 47:00Tyrod Taylor was that dude. And I remember when we played
- 47:03LSU, the LSU players, Dorsey and those guys they went on, went to
- 47:08national championship. We had a chance that year to
- 47:10back into it because we finished third in the BCS that year, but
- 47:13LSU ended up winning first time in that that time frame era
- 47:17where national championship won the championship with two
- 47:19losses. But they said the game changed
- 47:23when Tyrod came in. Tyrod gave us our only score
- 47:26that night. We lost 44 to 7 at LSU and the
- 47:30truth of the matter is is that drones is cut from that same
- 47:33clause. I think it was evident when he
- 47:35came in. It was just an energy and he had
- 47:37an attitude. You saw him and Tyler, you
- 47:40talked about this and Curtis and B, you talked about it, how
- 47:43against Pittsburgh he was running up on linebackers and
- 47:45DBS and grilling them. And you know, he slammed that D
- 47:49tackle from Wake Forest and it was like, damn, he about that
- 47:52life. And to me, he's marketable.
- 47:56I have him right now and again on your show, I have him as a
- 48:00dark horse for a Heisman candidate.
- 48:02I think with everybody coming back at the offense and Tyler
- 48:04Bowen does what I know he's going to do.
- 48:08Turn loose, I felt. This way.
- 48:10Turn loose, he got. In the rhythm, so.
- 48:13I'm going to tell you all this too, man.
- 48:14I talk. I got a yeah, no, I got AI got A
- 48:17and I ain't nobody special. But like I said, Dwight is my
- 48:20uncle, man. I'm, I'm an honorary Victoria
- 48:24family member. If y'all didn't know that.
- 48:26So me and Dwight we talk a little bit more than maybe
- 48:28something y'all y'all need to get on my level, you know what
- 48:31I'm saying? I'm.
- 48:32Sorry. No, but for real, Dwight will
- 48:34hit me up on some stuff and that I'm not even paying to because
- 48:37I'm emotional about a game or something and Dwight says
- 48:40something, I'm going to air it out.
- 48:42So y'all, y'all getting some Nuggets that y'all might not
- 48:45know. Dwight told me last year
- 48:47whenever Kyron started playing, he wasn't starting really, you
- 48:53know what? He's he was playing and we kept
- 48:54doing that teetering thing where we didn't know if if Grant was
- 48:58coming back or Kyron was playing.
- 49:00And Dwight, text me and said, I'm looking at this.
- 49:03I'm looking at this young man, but he's after it was after a
- 49:07game or something. He said if they start endorsing
- 49:10him, he is a star. That's what he said.
- 49:14He's like once they come out and say he's our starting
- 49:17quarterback, you're going to see a change in this young man, not
- 49:21just his play, but everything about him.
- 49:24And when they started, I think profoundly came out and said,
- 49:27you know, he's the quarterback moving forward.
- 49:29And it was like the the light switch hit, you know what I'm
- 49:33saying? Kyron was already playing.
- 49:35He was already doing the stuff he could do.
- 49:36But you can see the confidence come, you can see the play calls
- 49:39come for him. You can see the the media start
- 49:42gravitating toward him. You can see him.
- 49:45Those 5050 balls start going our way.
- 49:48So I don't know man. Dwight might be what was the
- 49:51what was the lady name Did the old fortune teller that
- 49:54everybody. Is talking about Miss Cleo.
- 49:57Miss Cleo. He might be kidding to Miss
- 49:59Cleo, you know. Hey.
- 50:01I I I have a good track record. I always.
- 50:03Tweet it every now and then. I don't miss when.
- 50:05It comes to stuff I call. I called it with Greg Stroman.
- 50:07I called it with Eddie Royo. I said it about Mike Vick.
- 50:10Everything I said about my cousin Mike came to fruition.
- 50:13I feel so confident about drones.
- 50:15And here's the deal he He is special.
- 50:20I'm not going to get all you fork and talk about all time
- 50:22greats whatever. But he is just that missing
- 50:25piece and and going back to your question you guys asked me about
- 50:29like you know do guys know whatever.
- 50:32Even though these guys are young men they're still young adults.
- 50:34And what I mean is in high school you kind of do what the
- 50:37coach tells you but you kind of know man you know coach is
- 50:41tripping. You know it's the he's the
- 50:42better guy. You see it in shit like movies
- 50:43like Varsity Blues when you're like, yo man.
- 50:46Kilmore's tripping, you know what I'm saying?
- 50:48But when they get to Tech or whatever college, they're young
- 50:51adults and they know they're young men.
- 50:54And now with COVID and Nil and guys staying 567 years now.
- 50:59They are they really young men. They they are in their 20s and
- 51:04everybody knew. They whispered, they knew.
- 51:06And again. Ain't nothing against old boy
- 51:08that he replaced. It's just more so like he fits
- 51:10better. But we did.
- 51:13And Tyler Boyne, I think we forget.
- 51:14We got to give him the credit. He went and got him, we went.
- 51:18Tyler Boyne knew what he wanted. So yeah man, I'm.
- 51:23I'm. I am so excited now doing his
- 51:24podcast. I kind of been in basketball
- 51:26mode. I am so excited.
- 51:28About the fall. Well, we've been, well, we've
- 51:30been to get you a little bit more excited because I know we
- 51:32ain't got you long much longer here.
- 51:34But I do got to go to the 2024 season right quick and ask you,
- 51:38you know, a couple of things. But what I'm going to start
- 51:40with, I'm going to go a little bit out of order.
- 51:42I'm just going to start with you looked at the at the schedule,
- 51:46you've seen the schedule, There are some good games on the
- 51:48schedule. But you know, you being a big
- 51:50football guy, You being a big Virginia Tech guy, You being a
- 51:53big pry guy. What game or a couple of games?
- 51:59Does Pry really need to dig into the win to solidify his legacy?
- 52:05Great question. What you're saying is he needs
- 52:07that signature win that beam. Signature win?
- 52:10No. No, no, no he he needs that.
- 52:13He needs that signature win and the the fact of the matter is,
- 52:17is that. Can I say something, Dwight?
- 52:22What's going to be his 1995 Miami?
- 52:30Damn, which one could it be? This.
- 52:31Year we got we got Clemson at home we got Miami.
- 52:34If they place we got what who else we got Let me pull it up
- 52:38right quick. Oh we got Vanderbilt.
- 52:40I know these I'm just calling games that we got.
- 52:42We got Vanderbilt if they place. We got Miami if they place.
- 52:47We got Clemson at home. You know we got ODU if they
- 52:51place. OK, so I think, and this is a
- 52:56great question, I actually looked at the schedule and I
- 52:58thought about this because I'm a visionary and I I always do that
- 53:02manifestation stuff. I I, I've always done it.
- 53:04My son does the same thing too. It's a technique we both do.
- 53:08It works. If you really believe in it.
- 53:09I, I, I, I, I really feel like they're two games that stand
- 53:13out. And it's been like that since I
- 53:16followed schedule released a few months ago.
- 53:18And the truth of the matter is, is that some of it's going to
- 53:21take shape based on who's ranked and where we are as far as
- 53:25standings in the ACC. But the two games that stand out
- 53:28to me are Clemson and Miami. Because Clemson at home, if it's
- 53:32a night game or even A330 kickoff when they come out the
- 53:35locker room at halftime, it'll be dark.
- 53:37A Clemson game at home. Because Clemson, despite some of
- 53:41their their step backs in recent years, they're still considered
- 53:45the classic college football along with Alabama, Ohio State,
- 53:48Michigan and Alabama. And those guys, right?
- 53:52And dabble. If you remember, I know you 3.
- 53:54Remember you got historians like me.
- 53:57He took the torch. He took the torch.
- 53:59I was there in the stadium in Charlotte from Beemer and Foster
- 54:04In 2011, we were going for back-to-back ACC championships.
- 54:07They stubbed their toe coming into the conference championship
- 54:10game. We were ten and one after
- 54:13smashing UVA when David Wilson, Logan Thomas went crazy.
- 54:16They beat beat us 30 to something like it was a blowout
- 54:20and they never look back. They did get boat race by West
- 54:23Virginia in the Orange Bowl, but they never look back.
- 54:25They became the team in the ACC and we became a shell of
- 54:30ourselves. You know, teetering around 7:00
- 54:32and 6:00, six and six, six and seven.
- 54:34It was tough to watch. I think our game against Clemson
- 54:39is going to be a huge opportunity because Virginia
- 54:42Tech fans say we're like 6 and two or seven and two.
- 54:45I don't have the schedule in front of me going into that game
- 54:47or we're like ranked 24 or right there where we're still in the
- 54:51contention for the ACC. Blacksburg, the fans, the town,
- 54:56the podcast like yours and mine, we're going to do our part.
- 55:00The build up will be there. The one thing I said about
- 55:02Virginia Tech last year, which they did a better job late in
- 55:05the season, was they have to learn how to win and they have
- 55:09to learn how to handle success. Until they do that, they're
- 55:12going to continue to under under achieve and they started to
- 55:15learn how to handle success. One of the games I remember was
- 55:18going down to Boston College. They beat the brakes off.
- 55:20BCBC was A7 win team. When they did that they
- 55:24destroyed them. OK, they went to UVA and the
- 55:27ferry. Opponent in a rivalry game set a
- 55:30record for points and they destroyed UVA.
- 55:34That's never going to be a game. Outsiders going to be like, Oh
- 55:37my God, but we know what that game.
- 55:38Means for the state of Virginia and Pratt understood the meaning
- 55:42of it, even coming back that next day trolling holding a
- 55:45trophy in the picture of an office.
- 55:48So with that being said, man, Clemson is the game for me
- 55:51because Clemson is still considered the class of the ACC
- 55:55and beyond and you will turn some heads if you.
- 55:59I don't mean just win like. You know, for the win in the
- 56:03field goal and we win 2120. No, I mean like.
- 56:06How we did against Miami when Jacory Harris came in ranked 9th
- 56:09and we were ranked 11th and Tyrod and Jerry Boykin and Ryan
- 56:12Williams got this. Yeah, that that's what you need.
- 56:15You need. One of those games, and I think
- 56:17the Miami game is 1 because no matter, even though I I troll
- 56:21Miami, I clown them and they've got one bowl game-winning 1213
- 56:25years. They've never won the ACC
- 56:26outright or even they've only won the Coastal winning.
- 56:29We had Division One time. They're still Miami.
- 56:31They still have a name. And for me, you beat Miami at
- 56:37Miami, right? You beat Miami.
- 56:40On Friday night. Yeah, see, you beat Miami at
- 56:42Miami. Even if they're not the Miami
- 56:46during my time, they still Miami.
- 56:49Those are two wins. But again.
- 56:51Just to bring it full. Circle Signature wins sometimes
- 56:55happen in bowl games. They happen against a team that
- 56:59you may not think like. In 95 we knew UVA.
- 57:02Was going to be good. We were in two different
- 57:04conferences. It was probably.
- 57:07The. One of the better robberies in
- 57:09the nation at the time. It's not now, but we didn't know
- 57:12they were going to be Florida State for the first time in
- 57:14history. We didn't know that they were
- 57:15going to be the best team in the ACC along with Florida.
- 57:18State and we didn't know we were going to be a top ten team in
- 57:21the nation. We started off O and two that
- 57:23year, so that's the beauty of college football.
- 57:25As the element of supplies. So as much as I want to say
- 57:28Clemson and Miami, we just don't know.
- 57:30A signature win sometimes happens in a bowl game, like I
- 57:33said a few minutes ago, where it happens when and you know, you
- 57:37play a team that is, you know, having a historic run, you know,
- 57:41and you didn't, you didn't realize that.
- 57:43But beating Miami on a Friday night, I know high school
- 57:48football is still big and, you know, and across the country,
- 57:50but that'll be a game you win in Miami, win the game on the road,
- 57:56You know, seeing. Proud walk to the locker.
- 57:58Room holding up his first and waving to the tech fans that are
- 58:00going to be there and then everybody jumping up and down in
- 58:04drones, walking off with his helmet in his hand, looking,
- 58:06smiling with that smiley guy. Then you come back a few weeks
- 58:10later, you beat Clemson to secure secure a spot in ACC
- 58:14Championship game. Or it might be a.
- 58:18Situation where you win the ACC. If you F around and win the ACC
- 58:23in your third year, now it's a win you now you put everybody on
- 58:29notice because even though the ACC suing itself.
- 58:32And you got all this stuff about rumors or whatever.
- 58:35It's still a credible conference.
- 58:36It's still a Power 5 conference and it's still a conference
- 58:38championship. I don't give a damn if it's the
- 58:4070s, eighties or right now, a conference championship.
- 58:43It's. Still, an automatic big
- 58:45conference. You hey, you win the.
- 58:46You win the, you win the ACC, man.
- 58:48It's playoff time. Playoff time, baby.
- 58:50Yeah, but that's what I'm going to say.
- 58:52That's what I'm going to say to go along with.
- 58:53Real quick, real quick, real quick.
- 58:54Charlie. The thing about it is, is that I
- 58:57know I love how Don V said what we lying about the day and we
- 59:00telling lies. I'm not even on some euphoric
- 59:02shit. I'm not even on some.
- 59:04Oh yeah, you know, 'cause. You guys know I'm.
- 59:06I'm pretty rational. I'm the voice of reason.
- 59:08But the one thing I know about these kids now is the kids in
- 59:12that locker room, They believe, They believe.
- 59:16Like you had everybody back for the bowl game.
- 59:20Ain't been but a few guys in the portal.
- 59:23And those guys should have left. They need to leave, man.
- 59:25Drones and them believe, man. I'm telling you, I've been a
- 59:28player. I know what it's like when you
- 59:30believe my son. I I talked to him.
- 59:34It's something about watching a young man or young woman.
- 59:35When they play sports, they believe.
- 59:37You see it with South Carolina and Don Staley.
- 59:39You see it when championship mindsets take over.
- 59:43They believe. When I was at Tech.
- 59:44It's so crazy, guys. Because we won 90.
- 59:47Percent of our games and many times we believe either we were
- 59:50down 14 we believe man and I just feel like these guys
- 59:54believe man they like they don't even look at tech like on some
- 59:58you know we hope we win or whatever not last year there was
- 1:00:01some tough moments you know growing things against
- 1:00:03Louisville that was tough to watch Florida State we kind of
- 1:00:06made a a little run at the end we know we're going into it was
- 1:00:10A1 possession game but we we didn't score whatever.
- 1:00:14But those to me are growing pains in life, lessons I I feel
- 1:00:17like. Right now, man, this spring is
- 1:00:19so critical. So go ahead, Tyler.
- 1:00:21You want to make a point. Yeah, no, I was going to say,
- 1:00:26just to speak on a little bit of what you said talking about
- 1:00:28Miami, that makes it a little bit more interesting.
- 1:00:32First of all, we play Rutgers the week before, which is going
- 1:00:34to be a very physical game. It don't matter if they roll me
- 1:00:37and my grandma out on the field, Rutgers is going to be physical.
- 1:00:40That that's just, that's what my grandma, she passed away.
- 1:00:43God wrestle. So if if, if, if she don't know
- 1:00:47if he, whoever he rolls out on the field they're going to play
- 1:00:49hard and they going to hit you. So we play them and then the
- 1:00:53next week we go and play Miami. Now when you think about Miami
- 1:00:56this year they got Cam Ward down there.
- 1:00:59So Kyron wanted to he wanted to start some stuff up.
- 1:01:03Kyron done went and worked out with Cam Ward and Shador Sanders
- 1:01:08and if you go watch that because I, I, I done dug into it, man.
- 1:01:11I don't watch the the tapes probably four times Cam talking
- 1:01:15a little junk to to Kyron. He said he said something to the
- 1:01:19effect of all you. That ain't how you throw that.
- 1:01:22And then Kyron told him, he said I won my bowl game and then Cam
- 1:01:28said something like, well you had to run 250 yards when you
- 1:01:31get. And then I think Chador chimed
- 1:01:33in and said something like you know the second year of them
- 1:01:37hits start, you start feeling them hits And Kyron didn't say
- 1:01:40nothing. He just looked at him like, and
- 1:01:42I'm looking at his face like y'all don't know who you talking
- 1:01:45to #1 and #2, y'all are in Miami.
- 1:01:49But Kyron has his receivers there Ally and and Quan was
- 1:01:53there and they you know, the cameraman went to Quan and was
- 1:01:55like, hey man, tell us your name and there was no partying on
- 1:01:59Quan's face. Quan was like Quan.
- 1:02:03He didn't say the Quan Felton, Virginia Tech.
- 1:02:06He said Quan and that was it and went back to catch him.
- 1:02:10Hey, the boys mean businessman and I'm telling them what we're
- 1:02:13going to start hearing around that that Miami game is, you
- 1:02:18know you got Heisman candidate Cameron Ward and depending on
- 1:02:23how our season's going and and and dark host candidate Kyron
- 1:02:26drones, that could potentially be a big match up and now.
- 1:02:31I feel like I I I I. Listen, I am I I I I I don't.
- 1:02:37I can't explain to y'all I'm not on no Homer shit.
- 1:02:40I'm just telling y'all man. Like drones is that dude.
- 1:02:44I'm telling you I can't I I don't miss.
- 1:02:46I I said the same thing when I saw my cousin play long before
- 1:02:51Jam you. I saw it in practice and it was.
- 1:02:53I remember telling my girlfriend then now my wife.
- 1:02:56I was like Shanice Mike is that guy, bro.
- 1:02:58Like I can't explain it. And it's something about people
- 1:03:01in sports. You you you you can't.
- 1:03:04Describe it I You know what? I'm a chill.
- 1:03:08I know y'all got one last question before I jump off.
- 1:03:10I cannot wait. I wasn't even really this height
- 1:03:12for the season until I came on tonight, man.
- 1:03:15I'm just, I was like, Oh, yeah, you know, we.
- 1:03:17Don't chop it up. Talk about spring.
- 1:03:18And now I'm like, damn. And we get this September.
- 1:03:21Oh, I'm ready. Yeah.
- 1:03:24All right, man. And I know, I know, we got
- 1:03:26another question, but we got some dude like new king under
- 1:03:29score. Yeah, Miami.
- 1:03:30Fans water. Yeah, he keep chiming in and
- 1:03:32he's telling me about all these people.
- 1:03:35Man, listen, we do not give a fuck about Miami.
- 1:03:39This is a Virginia Tech podcast. There's nobody on Miami's team
- 1:03:43that we ever been scared of. Fuck you talk about like anybody
- 1:03:47that y'all have ever had on your team.
- 1:03:49We don't give a fuck about that. I don't care if the only bang we
- 1:03:53would be scared of is if you got banged.
- 1:03:54It broke Batman's back. If y'all ain't got him.
- 1:03:57What we talking about? So hey, we going to see.
- 1:04:02We we going to see. Come.
- 1:04:03On man, Stop. Miami.
- 1:04:04Look, they will always be back. They will always talk.
- 1:04:08I love it. You know, to me, I was just on
- 1:04:09my. Front last night.
- 1:04:11Miami was more of our rival than UVA Miami and then West
- 1:04:15Virginia. We never, really.
- 1:04:16Had that kind of energy with UVA even when we were both ranked
- 1:04:20and there was a lot of trash talking ahead.
- 1:04:22Anthony Poindexter, it was intense.
- 1:04:24But Miami and West Virginia brought that dog out of us to a
- 1:04:28level where it was nasty. I I love playing Miami.
- 1:04:31I love when they're good and we're good.
- 1:04:33Cause to me the ACC did get that right.
- 1:04:35When they renewed that rivalry and made it every year and I I
- 1:04:39love it, we going, you know, we going, we going to revisit that,
- 1:04:41you know, shout out to that fan, I get it.
- 1:04:43But every year y'all supposed to be back and y'all supposed to be
- 1:04:46doing this. And again, y'all haven't won one
- 1:04:48bowl game in 1314 years. Y'all have.
- 1:04:51Man we don't get we going to get new king to God on here and we
- 1:04:54going to talk some we going to talk some football The week of
- 1:04:58the Miami game It's all love, man.
- 1:05:00It's all love. I'm I'm glad.
- 1:05:01I'm glad he ripping. That means y'all, look, look,
- 1:05:04that's y'all look, that's y'all podcast, bro.
- 1:05:08You know what I'm saying? That's that's you.
- 1:05:09Don't get him on here. That when you got haters and you
- 1:05:12got fans from other schools, that's a good thing.
- 1:05:14That means you're branching out and growing.
- 1:05:16That's a good thing. Shout out to that guy, man.
- 1:05:18I love it. I love it.
- 1:05:20You talk. About drones going down to Miami
- 1:05:22now like you know who's. Going to be.
- 1:05:24Trading Who's going to be trading in late February in
- 1:05:26Virginia? Come on, he just talking, man,
- 1:05:28Man told me. That's the reason they came to
- 1:05:29Miami. You don't have any bolts and
- 1:05:31holes in in Miami during this time.
- 1:05:38The boys on that, the boys on that with their shirts off and
- 1:05:43everything. Yeah, I would have been in Miami
- 1:05:44too. What you talking about?
- 1:05:46I would have been out there with my shirt off.
- 1:05:48That's. What?
- 1:05:49That's what After Dark podcast, right?
- 1:05:52There, right? That's right.
- 1:05:54Yeah, he used a lot to do down there.
- 1:05:59Brian, I think you had some before before the White House to
- 1:06:02hop off. Yeah, I mean this, this is the
- 1:06:04big one. I mean we got a got a spring
- 1:06:06game coming up on April 13th. Are we going to see you there?
- 1:06:09We going we going to have some good times in in Blacksburg.
- 1:06:12Oh. Man, it's so funny.
- 1:06:13I was just talking to my my son and my wife about this because I
- 1:06:17got, I got so many experiences. If I come to be a part of, I
- 1:06:20love the spring game. You know, until Puente took
- 1:06:22over, I went to the spring game fourteen straight times.
- 1:06:25I never missed one and then maybe more than that And then
- 1:06:28you know there was a couple years with him.
- 1:06:30I I started boycotting it not even on some boycotting tech but
- 1:06:34it was just it didn't feel right.
- 1:06:36You know it's like you know when you and your girl trying to
- 1:06:38reconcile but you know it ain't right no more but it feels right
- 1:06:42now, man. And and and I love tech.
- 1:06:44I love going back to Southwest Virginia.
- 1:06:47So to answer to that is as of right now the plans to come
- 1:06:49back. I got to get my room or
- 1:06:52something. But yeah man, I'm, I'm planning
- 1:06:56to come. The only reason if I don't come
- 1:06:57and over because my son has AAU game, but I think you can live
- 1:07:03stream it. Plus, man, he bought to be 18,
- 1:07:05so he don't need me there. I don't even go.
- 1:07:06I didn't even get his games last year, you know what I'm saying?
- 1:07:09So Nah, man, the plans to be there, BI mean a lot of guys are
- 1:07:14coming back like they always do and I think prying them have
- 1:07:18done a great job reconnecting with the alumni.
- 1:07:20I love going back. You know, it's funny.
- 1:07:21I played. Our last game was in Tech was
- 1:07:24against Alabama in 98. Our last home game was in 98.
- 1:07:28I've been played in since 1998 as far As for Tech and Hokey
- 1:07:32Nation shows me love, man. Like, it's crazy, bro.
- 1:07:35Like going back, I feel like a star.
- 1:07:38Like I get pictures and selfies. I sign so many footballs and I
- 1:07:44met my wife there. My cousins went there.
- 1:07:46My cousin I I say this every time I'm on your show, man.
- 1:07:48It's a family affair, man. Like, it's just a great place.
- 1:07:52It was some of the best five to six years of my life.
- 1:07:55And thank God we didn't have social media, because we did
- 1:07:57some wild stuff too. And I don't mean that.
- 1:08:00Nothing, nothing illegal. I don't want to get cancelled.
- 1:08:04College man. Nothing crazy, man.
- 1:08:07But lived in Fox Ridge Terrenceville Collegiate.
- 1:08:09Suites. Oh man, you did them all.
- 1:08:11Then you lifted up. I lifted up.
- 1:08:14Look, bro. That's back in the day when that
- 1:08:16energy, man, I go to bed at 3:00 in the morning, man, and wake up
- 1:08:18at 7. And and that's back when I could
- 1:08:21eat whatever when I was in shape.
- 1:08:22Now, man, I got to be careful. I don't even eat.
- 1:08:24Eat ice cream no more, man. I'll be done.
- 1:08:27That's back when Blacksburg allowed gatherings, right?
- 1:08:30I saw that, yo. I saw this crazy bro.
- 1:08:34You know what, man? I told y'all anyway, I got to
- 1:08:37jump off, man, I I love. Y'all I really do.
- 1:08:40I can't tell. Y'all shout out to all of y'all
- 1:08:42man. Y'all keep supporting this
- 1:08:44Boundary Corner podcast, man. Three of the best brothers out
- 1:08:47here. Y'all doing enough for Virginia
- 1:08:49Tech sports, especially the football program.
- 1:08:52Curtis B Tally, man, I love Y'all to death, man.
- 1:08:56Y'all really bring everybody together.
- 1:08:59And the thing about y'all hold us accountable.
- 1:09:01Yet you give great insight, great guests.
- 1:09:03I'm always on it every time B texts.
- 1:09:05And I'm like, all right, let me make my let me make this
- 1:09:07schedule work. I got lots of what I do tonight.
- 1:09:09I'm going to make this work. Can I can I say something real
- 1:09:11quick? Thank you for jumping on in
- 1:09:13December, because you hopping on in the middle of that chaos was
- 1:09:18Absolutely Fabulous 'cause I'm. I'm I'm feeling.
- 1:09:21Good. Over here.
- 1:09:22I'm going to text. Dwight.
- 1:09:23Dwight, can you get on? It's like 11:00 at night.
- 1:09:26Give me 5, Kurt. I'll be there.
- 1:09:28Pop on screen. It's like, oh man.
- 1:09:31Yeah, you know, I don't have. AI don't have a favorite team
- 1:09:34anymore except tech. Like, I grew up a Washington
- 1:09:38Skins fan and when Snyder took over, I just kind of fell back.
- 1:09:42I play fantasy football, do parlays.
- 1:09:45NBA is more of a player. So I have players I check for
- 1:09:48and you know, I like watching Jason Tatum and other guys
- 1:09:50Curry. It's great to watch.
- 1:09:51But when it comes to Tech, man, y'all got to understand
- 1:09:54something, bro. When when we lost in Boston
- 1:09:57College, man, we were #3 or number something in the nation
- 1:09:59and we lost to that last minute with Matt Ryan or we lost those
- 1:10:03games that we shouldn't have won.
- 1:10:05You know, for me, it sits with me.
- 1:10:07It hurts my spirit like it it because it you know, it's my
- 1:10:10squad, bro. Like you know I helped built
- 1:10:12that. Like you will never catch me at
- 1:10:14a pro game fighting with a Raiders fan.
- 1:10:16I don't care. I'm there just to watch the game
- 1:10:18and make for my. Parlay hit, but with tech, it
- 1:10:21means too much, man. That's why I was on Sally's
- 1:10:24part. Twitter live that night, man.
- 1:10:26Till damn near 3 in the morning. I really was like, we weren't
- 1:10:29there. Like because I didn't do it just
- 1:10:34for pride. And Virginia Tech, I did it
- 1:10:35because. I needed the fans to calm down
- 1:10:38because we were on that pod, because we love tech that that
- 1:10:42live. Wouldn't.
- 1:10:42We were ready to blow. Yeah, we people would talk.
- 1:10:45It was. It was anarchy.
- 1:10:47I mean, it was. Crazy people were like.
- 1:10:48Yeah, man, but. But.
- 1:10:49We we wrote. We wrote it out.
- 1:10:52And you know, God bless everybody, man.
- 1:10:54I appreciate y'all for real. I appreciate you, brother.
- 1:10:57Appreciate. Appreciate.
- 1:10:59Yeah, Yes, Sir. So y'all do with the great work,
- 1:11:01man, I will catch y'all the next one.
- 1:11:03Of course, when y'all go live again, I'll be there with my.
- 1:11:06Comments at the bottom doing my thing.
- 1:11:09We'll throw them up, man. We'll keep it moving, man.
- 1:11:11Appreciate you, Dwight. Appreciate you, Dwight.
- 1:11:13Tell Isaiah. Keep doing this thing.
- 1:11:15Yeah, man, keep with some prayer.
- 1:11:16Man, we all trying to do the right thing.
- 1:11:18Yes, Sir. Alrighty.
- 1:11:21Y'all, let's go to Break, Main Street Pharmacy and our digital
- 1:11:24partners. I can probably save you a lot of
- 1:11:27money and I can take a lot better care of you.
- 1:11:30That's pretty much it. My name is Jeremy Counts and I'm
- 1:11:33a pharmacist. I own and operate Main Street
- 1:11:35Pharmacy here in downtown Blacksburg.
- 1:11:37My brother's a pharmacist. I'm a pharmacist.
- 1:11:39My uncle's a pharmacist. My dad's a pharmacist.
- 1:11:41I remember he would give me M and Ms. to count in little pill
- 1:11:43counters. This is something I've always
- 1:11:45done, and I'm just lucky that what I know so well is something
- 1:11:49that I can do and feel good about it and get back to people.
- 1:11:52Pharmacies are your frontline defense.
- 1:11:54Pharmacy's job is to make sure you're getting optimal care for
- 1:11:57the lowest price possible. Also, we take the pressure off
- 1:12:01of emergency rooms. I'll tell people immediately
- 1:12:03when they need to go to the doctor, or I'll tell them if
- 1:12:05they just need a cream over the counter.
- 1:12:07If there's something that isn't commercially available, if it's
- 1:12:09something that's not available in a certain strength or a
- 1:12:12certain form or anything like that, we'll make it tailor made
- 1:12:15medications. Some of those options save
- 1:12:17people a lot of money. What motivates me?
- 1:12:19I get to take care of people and live in Blacksburg.
- 1:12:21That's all neat. As we take a quick break.
- 1:12:26We'd like to tell you about getting your free website report
- 1:12:28from our digital partner, Grassroots Digital Marketing
- 1:12:31Studio. They'll tell you how your

- 1:12:38Report by visiting Grassroots digitalstudio.com/free Dash
- 1:12:43website Dash Report. Now back to the episode.
- 1:12:47All righty, we are back. We got a couple more things
- 1:12:49we're going to hit before we wrap up here tonight.
- 1:12:51Y'all it came out today and I just wanted to hear my two guys
- 1:12:55opinions. Clemson has effectively joined
- 1:12:58Florida State and suing the ACC. I don't think I'm not shocked,
- 1:13:03Brian, Tally, y'all got anything on it.
- 1:13:05I'm not shocked. I think they were going to be
- 1:13:07the the next domino always. That was kind of what we
- 1:13:11expected from the jump. Them maybe UNC kind of a, you
- 1:13:15know, potential to throw their name in there, maybe Miami.
- 1:13:18But Clemson was always from a revenue standpoint going to be
- 1:13:22the team that can make the most noise at the top end of the ACC.
- 1:13:26So they're going to obviously be the ones that would have the
- 1:13:29most grievances under the current current rules, the
- 1:13:32modified rules that we're moving into.
- 1:13:36Though it doesn't surprise me. I'm interested to see the
- 1:13:41lawyers for FSU versus the lawyers for Clemson because
- 1:13:43Clemson is taking a slightly different angle with their
- 1:13:47argument. So and I think might be a more
- 1:13:50effective angle with their argument, but we'll see what the
- 1:13:55powers that be rule on there. But it's very interesting the
- 1:13:59way they're approaching this thing.
- 1:14:01Yeah, and Clemson was a lot more quiet about it, too.
- 1:14:04Yeah, Florida State was ramping up and they was woofing a lot.
- 1:14:07You know what I'm saying? They had a lot to say before
- 1:14:09they actually pull the trigger. Clemson just kind of did it.
- 1:14:12So you know it is what it is. And you know, just added fuel to
- 1:14:16the fire with the way the whole College Football Playoff shit
- 1:14:19went down this year. So yeah, they they were already
- 1:14:21gassed up before that and you just threw the fuel on that
- 1:14:23fire. So they they were definitely
- 1:14:25coming at it from a very vitriol standpoint.
- 1:14:30Whereas Clemson is very much like all right, we're we're,
- 1:14:33we're kind of laying it out here step by step.
- 1:14:37It it they seem to be a little more methodical with their
- 1:14:39approach. Methodical, but the one
- 1:14:41methodical thing that I, I do think that I don't know why
- 1:14:44they're barking up this tree and I and I talked to Tally me and
- 1:14:48we were talking about it before we jumped on tonight was the
- 1:14:51whole, well, this is too big of a, this is too much money to get
- 1:14:55out of a conference and it's like well did you sign it?
- 1:14:58Well yeah we did. OK, That's like signing the non
- 1:15:01disclosure and non compete with a company, right.
- 1:15:04Hey, this company wants me for $300,000.
- 1:15:06You did a non compete, you can't do that.
- 1:15:08You do that. We're going to sue the pants off
- 1:15:09you. Like you can't sit here and say
- 1:15:12it's too much when you literally signed the document saying it
- 1:15:15was that much because clearly at that point in time it won't too
- 1:15:18much to you. But now, now it's too much
- 1:15:19because I want to leave. That's the only part of their
- 1:15:23like release that makes no sense.
- 1:15:26Like if you leave that off there, like you said Brian, it's
- 1:15:29more methodical, but that piece doesn't make sense to anybody,
- 1:15:32doesn't make sense to me thinking in a in a legal or
- 1:15:35business sense. Well, I think, I think the, the,
- 1:15:37the one thing they're doing that may be smart is that they're
- 1:15:40breaking it up into two different arguments, right.
- 1:15:43So they're breaking it up into the exit fee and then the
- 1:15:48rights. Yeah.
- 1:15:49So combined those are worth about 600 million, but broken
- 1:15:53apart, the exit fee is only about 180.
- 1:15:57Somewhere in there, yeah, somewhere in that ballpark.
- 1:16:00So by breaking it out, you know, the judge might rule, you know,
- 1:16:04affirmatively for them on one end and not on the other, which
- 1:16:07might give them a little more leverage with whatever their
- 1:16:10potential landing spot might be as far as new conference and
- 1:16:13what they're willing to pony up in order to get them out and
- 1:16:18into their conference. It's true.
- 1:16:21All right, I'm looking up at the TV here.
- 1:16:23Let's jump on this thing because I don't think they can blow this
- 1:16:25lead. Tech's up 7256 NIT first round
- 1:16:29and home, so looking like they're going to.
- 1:16:32It's less than a minute. I think we're good.
- 1:16:35You. Sure, about that.
- 1:16:37You know if they if they pull it off, you know props to them
- 1:16:39because 16 points and 49 seconds.
- 1:16:43Is they deserve. They deserve to win if they do
- 1:16:46that, don't they? Yeah, they do.
- 1:16:48Yeah, they do. But I don't think that's going
- 1:16:49to happen because you know, we even got the Subs out there.
- 1:16:53But I mean, at least we got any niti mean, I, you know, it's
- 1:16:59it's tough to get up for like that you the only thing you hope
- 1:17:03is there's not many guy, the only person leaving Sonic
- 1:17:06Couture, right? That's the only person that can
- 1:17:11cannot come back, yeah. Cannot come back because that.
- 1:17:13That might be a better way to phrase it.
- 1:17:14There you go. We don't have a look on that,
- 1:17:17but that's the only upside is maybe you get somebody like play
- 1:17:20Tyler Nichols some more because we saw at times this year tally
- 1:17:23you can shake your head. Yeah, when Tyler Nichols, there
- 1:17:26were a couple games where I like.
- 1:17:27Tyler Nichols. That kid, that kid can play and
- 1:17:29he's coming off the bench and I'm sure there are times Tally's
- 1:17:31like you start him. And MM Young is, I think Mike
- 1:17:36Young is a good coach. He's a very systems coach and he
- 1:17:39looks for system players. So system players sometimes are
- 1:17:44more fundamental than they are athletic.
- 1:17:47Yeah. Again, I'm not saying that I
- 1:17:49know anything more than he does because he is a good coach.
- 1:17:52He's been coaching for a long time.
- 1:17:54But I can tell you in the ACC some of those old systems and
- 1:17:58fundamentals will lose you games when you're playing against
- 1:18:02these big physical athletic guards that you're going to pay
- 1:18:06against from Miami, Boston College, you know Duke, North
- 1:18:11Carolina and that. I mean it just it's it's tough
- 1:18:16man. So I I I would love for him to.
- 1:18:21I mean he could have capitalized well.
- 1:18:22He did capitalize on some of the success he had.
- 1:18:25But that we can't keep anybody in Blacksburg, you know what I'm
- 1:18:28saying? We get somebody and we think
- 1:18:29that pretty decent and next thing you know they're gone or
- 1:18:33you know they don't even start the start the season.
- 1:18:35So I don't know, man. Yeah, I mean, it's, it's been
- 1:18:39frustrating to watch. I think, you know, to your
- 1:18:41point, Talley, like when we do get a couple of those guys that
- 1:18:44can be bigger or more more physical and more athletic, we
- 1:18:49we tend to not be able to hold on to them.
- 1:18:51And then, you know, we're kind of taking one step forward, 2
- 1:18:56steps back with the way the roster management is.
- 1:18:59And I think that's probably hurt us more than anything, is roster
- 1:19:02management has been so inconsistent that we can't
- 1:19:05really lean on anyone but some of these more fundamental guys
- 1:19:10that you know, we're going to stick around because they fit
- 1:19:11what Mike Young's trying to do schematically.
- 1:19:14Right. Yeah.
- 1:19:15But that is what it is. They'll play Ohio State.
- 1:19:18I assume that'll be what's today.
- 1:19:21Today is Tuesday, Thursday, Tuesday.
- 1:19:25All right, let's roll on, ladies.
- 1:19:27Got a four seed. They'll be playing at home this
- 1:19:29weekend. I I did not see the whole thing.
- 1:19:34I called pieces of it. There's potentially Kitley could
- 1:19:38play, which tells me she did not tear because my assumption was
- 1:19:43going to be this. If that thing was torn as soon
- 1:19:46as they got to four seed, they would just say it right.
- 1:19:50There's there's nothing left to hide.
- 1:19:51Yeah. Chips are on the table.
- 1:19:54I mean at at this point I mean. What are you trying to hide from
- 1:19:56a 13 seed? They going to figure it out real
- 1:19:59quick, practicing in Blacksburg that she ain't going to be
- 1:20:01there. So.
- 1:20:04So maybe it's just a terrible sprain and it's, I mean I got to
- 1:20:08pull up the the bracket here because I know we're playing
- 1:20:10Marshall. Who's the five?
- 1:20:13Brian, do you have that up? Or I can get it up.
- 1:20:18Because either way, you know you, you feel it.
- 1:20:22It just hurts because you know they got a legitimate shot.
- 1:20:25If she's fully healthy, not only to win two weeks ago, but to go
- 1:20:28deep again and that's where it. Irritates you.
- 1:20:33Yeah. I think that's the biggest thing
- 1:20:34is that, you know, you know that there's that potential there and
- 1:20:38it's hard to see if they're going to be able to live up to
- 1:20:41that potential without her in the lineup.
- 1:20:45And we saw some up and down stuff with in the ACC tournament
- 1:20:48from you know, being able to sustain without her in the line
- 1:20:53up. So it's going to be interesting.
- 1:20:55I think Kenny said something to the effect of if she didn't have
- 1:21:00a future going forward then they might have tried her in maybe
- 1:21:06like the last game or something she tried to play.
- 1:21:09He said something to that effect, but.
- 1:21:11Some of the ACC. Championships.
- 1:21:13Yeah. But because of because they know
- 1:21:15she has a future in basketball, they don't want to risk
- 1:21:18anything, you know, with they want to make sure that she's
- 1:21:21fine before she steps back on the court.
- 1:21:24So I'm hoping that that ain't just coach speak, you know what
- 1:21:28I'm saying? I'm hoping that you know, like
- 1:21:30you say it when they got that four seed, you would have said,
- 1:21:34hey, she's getting surgery. There was ACL.
- 1:21:37You're having surgery. You know what?
- 1:21:38Well, you can't you if you got to do it, what are you waiting
- 1:21:40on? You know what I'm saying?
- 1:21:41You want to go ahead and get started so you can start
- 1:21:44rehabbing. So if it's not torn, you know, I
- 1:21:48would love to see you in Virginia Tech jersey again.
- 1:21:50You know what I'm saying? One more time, even if it even
- 1:21:52if it's one more time, man, you know, I would love to see you in
- 1:21:56a because she deserves that. So I don't know, man.
- 1:21:59I'm holding out hope that we'll see her again.
- 1:22:02Yep, and it's Baylor. Baylor is the match up down at
- 1:22:05home. Kind of funny, right?
- 1:22:07Full circle. Got to play Baylor a year later.
- 1:22:10All right, last piece. I wanted to hit this because,
- 1:22:14you know, we had Joe on here just a couple weeks ago talking
- 1:22:16about wrestling. Did y'all see that because of
- 1:22:20the injuries that happened, that Tex, now the second betting
- 1:22:24favorite to win the national title?
- 1:22:27I did not see that. Joe tweet too much because I
- 1:22:31would go find it and pull it up, but it's one of the sites he
- 1:22:34follows pretty closely. Literally, we are the 2nd
- 1:22:37betting favorite because a couple of the categories where
- 1:22:41Penn State's strong, it's where guys of ours could win.
- 1:22:46And you know, Joe talked about it.
- 1:22:47If you get 3. There's there's there's two key
- 1:22:49injuries called yeah he's out so there's two key injuries that
- 1:22:56are putting us in a in a really good position at weight classes
- 1:22:59where we were already predicted to to finish pretty high could
- 1:23:04end up finished in one so. You.
- 1:23:08Start you start stacking some of that, you start getting some of
- 1:23:11these. I think as Joe said some of the
- 1:23:13younger guys in these spots where we haven't looked as good
- 1:23:17or a sharp. I think if you get some some
- 1:23:19extra wins there you might be on to something.
- 1:23:22So that's going to be kind of the interesting piece because of
- 1:23:26that. And it's such a weird sport
- 1:23:28because you know, we had a couple years ago, young guys get
- 1:23:32in the top five and that's what happens.
- 1:23:34Some kid who's good gets in the top five, he becomes an All
- 1:23:38American and the next thing you know you go from being 10th to
- 1:23:40like being 5th because of that finish.
- 1:23:43It's it's wild to watch. I know we'll be watching bracket
- 1:23:46games and doing fun shit like that this weekend spring ball
- 1:23:51going on. I know it's all.
- 1:23:54I I, I mean, we probably could talk another hour on that, but
- 1:23:58I'm going to hold that because we got a guest coming in a few
- 1:24:02weeks. We're going to talk all about
- 1:24:03it, but I think the thing I want to point out real quick, Gunner
- 1:24:08Givens, Lamar Law goes from the defensive line to the offensive
- 1:24:12line. Probably the biggest thing that
- 1:24:14I saw in the as far as depth chart goes.
- 1:24:18I don't. Nothing else really jumped out
- 1:24:19to me. Maybe it should have.
- 1:24:22Maybe I just was sitting there like this is what I expected.
- 1:24:26I mean, they talked about one of the guy, maybe it was Andy today
- 1:24:31like the first four Nias, Kamari, Fuga and Gilliam.
- 1:24:38Gilliam. Thank you.
- 1:24:40I just like so like, OK, that's what we expected, you know?
- 1:24:50Yeah. And I think that's good.
- 1:24:53I've seen that, you know, Montagne's Cunningham working,
- 1:24:58you know working with the with the second team right now.
- 1:25:00But we'll see how that evolves as as Kent moves forward for for
- 1:25:04spring practice here. But you know, I think the
- 1:25:08biggest news again is going to be that those position switches
- 1:25:11for Law and Givens hoping to see Givens kind of put things
- 1:25:15together to put the pieces together.
- 1:25:17You know, getting him on the side of the ball where he
- 1:25:20probably should have started if it wasn't for depth necessity at
- 1:25:24the time his recruiting class came on board.
- 1:25:27Y'all said it a few minutes ago. Roster mismanagement.
- 1:25:31My God And and thankfully the Portal helped shore up some of
- 1:25:36that this offseason and we still have to keep back feeling.
- 1:25:39But I think that, you know, we at least kind of stopped the
- 1:25:42bleeding on that position group. So that's good to see because
- 1:25:47when he came on, I mean let's talk about it real quick.
- 1:25:49It wasn't as easy as OK, well, you know, we ended up having, we
- 1:25:54ended up having Kendricks and Pollard for 2023.
- 1:25:58That was not always expected. When those decisions were made
- 1:26:03in 2022, we thought we wouldn't have Pollard, we wouldn't have
- 1:26:06Kendrick's. We thought pain was going to be
- 1:26:08gone because he only had one year left.
- 1:26:10But then he ended up having an injury that kind of pushed that
- 1:26:12back a year. So we were in a very, very
- 1:26:15different situation, you know, late 2022 than we were right
- 1:26:21now. We can actually afford to make
- 1:26:24those shuffles that we really couldn't afford to do at that
- 1:26:26point. So.
- 1:26:31There you go. And and that's the things that
- 1:26:33are that are happening. Y'all want a good laugh?
- 1:26:35Look at the UVA score. Oh, I saw.
- 1:26:40Yeah, I've seen it a little bit ago.
- 1:26:41I think think B Fish tweeted about it and then I seen it in.
- 1:26:46The That 10 minute scoring drought is a bitch.
- 1:26:50Well, they had only scored like 2 out of halftime.
- 1:26:53That's if I I think if you look at both, it might be, it might
- 1:26:57be almost a 15 to 20 minute scoring drought.
- 1:26:59They crazy. I don't know what's going on
- 1:27:01with them. They they don't understand, like
- 1:27:05y'all got anything else? You don't talk about the night
- 1:27:07Boys, Anything that's crossed your mind?
- 1:27:09If you have not went and seen the picture of Aiden Green with
- 1:27:15his shirt off flexing, go find it.
- 1:27:18I don't know who posted it. There's a picture of some of the
- 1:27:22younger wide receivers and Aiden Green has a shirt off and he
- 1:27:26flexing Big boy BMF homo. He done leveled up.
- 1:27:36He looked like a he looked like a statue man, like I thought he
- 1:27:39was a skinny kid. Hold on.
- 1:27:41Wait a SEC. You can't.
- 1:27:42This is just a tease. Because after Spring Game, it's
- 1:27:45the BMF award. From John Man.
- 1:27:47Listen, I'm telling you, Aiden Green looked like a A a Greek
- 1:27:51statue man on that. On that picture.
- 1:27:53It might have been photoshopped. I know they see the AI and all
- 1:27:57that stuff, man. Boy got muffled everywhere.
- 1:27:59You say he's on the BMF watch list.
- 1:28:02BMF watch. List I'm telling you, man, I
- 1:28:04know we, I know we're getting out of here, but a spring ball
- 1:28:06is here. It's time to get excited.
- 1:28:08This is going to be a great season.
- 1:28:11My boy. My boy Brody is in that number
- 1:28:15six, you know what I'm saying? I've been seeing pictures and
- 1:28:19watching them run routes with the number six on.
- 1:28:21We got Chaz Wiggins at #7. Hey, the wide receiver room is
- 1:28:26looking good right now. You know what I'm saying?
- 1:28:29We got some. Hey, we got some good shit
- 1:28:32going. On Look at Robbie.
- 1:28:33Look at Robbie. Talking about parlays, Robbie
- 1:28:35hit a parlay tonight. Robbie Robbie been on the on the
- 1:28:38side here lately so he finally hit one all.
- 1:28:41Righty. Hey, by the way, other thing.
- 1:28:44And I'm sure we'll talk about a little bit more next week.
- 1:28:46Fontell Minds. Man.
- 1:28:49That's big. I wanted to get that with
- 1:28:51Dwight, but doing. What you got to do to keep your
- 1:28:54guy in house too, I mean that's that's important, that's taking
- 1:28:57care of your own, that's that's making sure that you keep the
- 1:29:02talent, where the talent is and you keep the talent coming in.
- 1:29:07100%. Yep, it's 100% smart ass.
- 1:29:10Move, hey, I mean, hey, you know, Dwight said it earlier and
- 1:29:14we we're going to wrap up. We're kind of trying to wrap up
- 1:29:16on this note. Frank Beamer had laid the
- 1:29:19blueprint 30 plus years ago. All the blueprint needed was an
- 1:29:23updating to the modern times and.
- 1:29:29Everything off? Put some infrastructure behind
- 1:29:31it. And every little while,
- 1:29:34everything. It hasn't been a quick and
- 1:29:37unfortunately hasn't been quick, but it's everything is a little
- 1:29:41step, little wrong, little step hit every piece right.
- 1:29:46And it was nice the back half of last season, taking two steps at
- 1:29:49a time. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:29:52And as Frank built, yeah, Frank built the house, man.
- 1:29:56All Fuente had to come in and do was paint it.
- 1:30:00But this motherfucker start putting.
- 1:30:02He tried to, he put start putting outhouses in the
- 1:30:04backyard, trying to raise cattle back there When he was on, when
- 1:30:09he was on concrete, he had all type of bullshit going on.
- 1:30:14So but that's all right though what Chris say, right?
- 1:30:17There. And probably trust.
- 1:30:19How we trust. And that wraps up this episode
- 1:30:22of the Boundary Corner Podcast. I'm Curtis Wilson.
- 1:30:26I'm Brian Siegler. Jonathan Talley we are brought

- 1:31:36All righty, so y'all, I love talking with Dwight.
- 1:31:40And seriously, they'll tell you If Dwight didn't have something
- 1:31:44he needed to get done, we'd probably be sitting here till
- 1:31:4711/30 12:00 talking to Dwight. Easy.
- 1:31:50Easy. I mean we we moved fast and
- 1:31:53furious through some of those topics the way we we versus how
