- 0:09Speaker 1: Vigie Welcome to Patriot's Unfiltered, wooden Talk live from Gillette's Stadium.
- 0:22Speaker 1: I'm not sure that's okay. It's very deep in the show.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I want to find it. Yeah, it was just as much,
- 0:26Speaker 1: you know, the green and the fluorescent green, and and
- 0:30Speaker 1: then the Tampa colors. Yeah, Fred forgot what the colors were,
- 0:33Speaker 1: so I just it's like, I don't know what you
- 0:35Speaker 1: would call their blue Tampa. No, I said Tampa colors.
- 0:38Speaker 1: But uh yeah, I'm lost. Now. I would rather have
- 0:42Speaker 1: Mac Jones than nobody. Does Hardy play hurdle. He should
- 0:46Speaker 1: play hurdle on his little music show. He doesn't even
- 0:49Speaker 1: play the songs thirty minutes to record like a three.
- 0:51Speaker 1: He wraps around all the songs that are Oh so
- 0:53Speaker 1: it's really fake. Oh it's really fake. How do you
- 0:56Speaker 1: guys stand on the viewing venue? Stay home, chill out
- 0:59Speaker 1: with a family or people over. I don't have any friends.
- 1:04Speaker 1: I don't have any friends. This is Patriots Unfiltered, fueled
- 1:09Speaker 1: by Duncan. All right, Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It's Tuesday
- 1:14Speaker 1: here at Let's Stadium, and the uh Patriots, I think
- 1:18Speaker 1: we're nice enough to uh not leak out the news
- 1:22Speaker 1: until a day that we had a show, so we
- 1:24Speaker 1: didn't have to have an emergency podcast. But Adam Schefter
- 1:27Speaker 1: reported early this morning that the Patriots are signing Bill
- 1:31Speaker 1: O'Brien to be their offensive coordinator. So I think for
- 1:35Speaker 1: most Patriots fans, that's good news, right, Evan, Evan, Yeah,
- 1:41Speaker 1: you did it. I think that's good news. I think
- 1:43Speaker 1: you know, they they did their interviews, they would finish
- 1:46Speaker 1: their interviews, and then they got the guy they wanted.
- 1:48Speaker 1: There was no delay, assuming again this report is true,
- 1:52Speaker 1: and I think it is um good job Patriots for
- 1:56Speaker 1: for getting the job done quickly. Yeah. Can I say
- 1:59Speaker 1: one thing first before we do a good job? Heat?
- 2:01Speaker 1: Why didn't we do this last year? Like? Why? Like why? Well, no,
- 2:04Speaker 1: I know, like I just have a brief, a brief
- 2:06Speaker 1: like Oh, I think I think it's a good question.
- 2:09Speaker 1: But I think it did come down to Bill honoring
- 2:12Speaker 1: the fact that he had a year left and he
- 2:14Speaker 1: didn't and Saban probably asked him, hey, can you hold
- 2:17Speaker 1: off the year because he's under contract. I don't have
- 2:20Speaker 1: a guy to replace him right now, can you you know?
- 2:23Speaker 1: And that's what I just like, and I don't I
- 2:24Speaker 1: don't mean to hijack this into this, but like, did
- 2:26Speaker 1: we just burn a year because you really wanted that
- 2:29Speaker 1: was the reason? Yeah? I don't. But anyway, um, mister
- 2:32Speaker 1: sneaky negative, Yeah, did we burn a year? Well, because
- 2:35Speaker 1: they did. They definitely did. And to you a point,
- 2:39Speaker 1: so like, you know, let's use other narratives that were
- 2:42Speaker 1: out there. That was Freddie's narrative was a narrative, right,
- 2:44Speaker 1: they didn't want he was. It was professional courtesy, which
- 2:47Speaker 1: I don't buy for a second. But anyway, another narrative
- 2:50Speaker 1: was they didn't just want to be back in that
- 2:52Speaker 1: situation right away. If they had hired O'Brien last year,
- 2:55Speaker 1: then he would have left and they'd be right back
- 2:56Speaker 1: in it. So at least now you have to wait
- 2:59Speaker 1: till twenty four to have a new offensive coordinator. Right.
- 3:02Speaker 1: Paul is in a particularly foul mood today, and the
- 3:06Speaker 1: reason why. A lot of the reason why is because
- 3:09Speaker 1: the Bills lost and a lot of fans are gleeful.
- 3:11Speaker 1: Nobody hates it when Patriots fans are happy. You know
- 3:14Speaker 1: I hate games like Buffalo Cincinnati where I have no
- 3:17Speaker 1: one to root against. Yeah, I hate those games. Same
- 3:21Speaker 1: thing happened last year. You like both those teams. I
- 3:23Speaker 1: love Borrow, Oh God, I love him, everybody does. And
- 3:26Speaker 1: I love Josh Allen. So I hate when i'm my
- 3:28Speaker 1: both teams have the ball and I'm rooting from both
- 3:30Speaker 1: of them to score. So that same thing happened with
- 3:32Speaker 1: Kansas City Buffalo last Why you're in a foul mood today,
- 3:35Speaker 1: I'm not in a foul mood. I just got out
- 3:36Speaker 1: of some great training, just a little bit, a little
- 3:39Speaker 1: bit shoot active shooter trains. I think I think I
- 3:41Speaker 1: got on you. I think you're you. You don't like
- 3:44Speaker 1: it when Patriots fans a revel and other teams failures.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Oh no, congratulations to the Patriots for advancing in the
- 3:51Speaker 1: playoffs yet again. They got what they wanted, and there
- 3:54Speaker 1: it is. I figured i'd give it. You're just gonna
- 3:57Speaker 1: keep talking about it. I love Cincinnati and I love Borrow,
- 4:01Speaker 1: so I don't know where you're getting that from. Now.
- 4:04Speaker 1: Buffalo and you win a hundred games Row and lose one,
- 4:08Speaker 1: I don't think that means you suck. They suck. Evans
- 4:12Speaker 1: says they're soft, the soft team soft. Okay, soft. You
- 4:16Speaker 1: know your guys red ass McDermott they call them. Okay, yeah,
- 4:22Speaker 1: soft team. Okay, you know they soft or you have
- 4:25Speaker 1: a red ass both. Okay. I'm not saying that party.
- 4:28Speaker 1: I'm just saying soft. You're playing a Blizzard and you
- 4:31Speaker 1: run the ball fourteen times? Soft, Well, they got behind,
- 4:35Speaker 1: doesn't matter, soft does not all that don't facts games.
- 4:40Speaker 1: When you get behind, you have to throw the ball.
- 4:41Speaker 1: But they were passing possessions into the game. They're down
- 4:43Speaker 1: fourteen points and they didn't run the ball. I don't know.
- 4:46Speaker 1: They're passing the ball in the first quarter two like
- 4:48Speaker 1: don't don't kid yourself. Then they never ran the ball
- 4:50Speaker 1: for one second I know. But they went three and
- 4:53Speaker 1: out the first two times they had the ball. You know,
- 4:55Speaker 1: you passed early, maybe to set up the run, but
- 4:57Speaker 1: then you fall behind and then that screws up your plan.
- 5:00Speaker 1: I mean they picked a bad time to lay an egg.
- 5:03Speaker 1: They got completely dominated for sixty full minutes. The game
- 5:06Speaker 1: wasn't as close is the score indicated. I mean what
- 5:09Speaker 1: I don't under dominated, what I yeah, what I don't
- 5:11Speaker 1: understand is like how Cincinnati went in there with a
- 5:14Speaker 1: banged up offensive line, and yet they dominated because they
- 5:17Speaker 1: ran the ball. No, but that's not how they got
- 5:20Speaker 1: the lead. If it was that easy, every team would
- 5:22Speaker 1: do it. I'm just saying, threw it all over the
- 5:23Speaker 1: place they were, they were able to protect their office,
- 5:26Speaker 1: ran the ball when the game was over. When you
- 5:28Speaker 1: when you play in those types of conditions, we know,
- 5:30Speaker 1: we know how it works when you play in those
- 5:32Speaker 1: types of conditions. The one thing they didn't have anything
- 5:35Speaker 1: to do with that game, No, but nothing, but they
- 5:37Speaker 1: ran the Cincinnati It's it's not Cincinnati threw the ball
- 5:40Speaker 1: up and down the field the whole first half, got
- 5:42Speaker 1: a double a two score lead, and then they ran
- 5:44Speaker 1: the ball and grind it all the clock at the
- 5:46Speaker 1: end of the when they total domination when they ran
- 5:49Speaker 1: by the Bengals, well yeah, and when they ran the ball,
- 5:51Speaker 1: they ran it. It seemed like for six yards a pop.
- 5:54Speaker 1: It's like, you know, you can run the ball, but
- 5:57Speaker 1: the other team can stop you too. And we thought
- 5:59Speaker 1: that the Bills had that advantage up front, and they didn't.
- 6:02Speaker 1: They just got dominated. Correct, Like, I don't understand why,
- 6:06Speaker 1: Well so they because Cincinnati's good. Once they got some
- 6:09Speaker 1: injuries up front. Buffalo, their front completely fell off. And
- 6:13Speaker 1: in this game, I think a guy that was underrated
- 6:15Speaker 1: was de Kwon Jones, who was an active kind of
- 6:18Speaker 1: a game day scratch if you will, because of an injury.
- 6:21Speaker 1: And he's their nose tackle, right, He's their big nose
- 6:24Speaker 1: tackle in the middle of that line. So they didn't
- 6:26Speaker 1: have de Kwon Jones kind of a sneaky miss. And
- 6:29Speaker 1: then obviously since von Miller went down for them, they
- 6:32Speaker 1: really didn't have any edge rush presence at all. You know,
- 6:35Speaker 1: guys like Greg Russo, Boogie basham, they just didn't bring
- 6:37Speaker 1: it all right, could Um we kind of got off
- 6:40Speaker 1: a little bit this side tracked them. You know, let's
- 6:44Speaker 1: let's get back to the top of the news. Bill
- 6:47Speaker 1: O'Brien coming here. I think everyone here agree that yay
- 6:50Speaker 1: or yeah? No, Yeah, for sure. Evan looked so cheery
- 6:53Speaker 1: walking in this morning. Yeah, very happy, Paul, You're not
- 6:57Speaker 1: You're not. I love Billy O'Brien, I would say too.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Just to add Fred Albert Brier tweeted out, um, about fifteen,
- 7:04Speaker 1: that's not as excited about this part. They're going to
- 7:07Speaker 1: interview Adrian Clem again as well, so potentially he could
- 7:10Speaker 1: be a line. Well, you had a question that you
- 7:14Speaker 1: posed on Twitter, Paul. Will they allow Bill O'Brien to
- 7:17Speaker 1: hire his own his staff? Is this in other words,
- 7:20Speaker 1: Adrian Clem his guy, yeah could be yeah, yeah? So, um,
- 7:25Speaker 1: I mean would Clem do that maybe to get into
- 7:28Speaker 1: the NFL? And as a you know, a position coach? Uh,
- 7:31Speaker 1: you know, I don't know how he is as a coach.
- 7:34Speaker 1: I mean, he wasn't that good of a player, Clem.
- 7:37Speaker 1: He wasn't great in Pittsburgh, but in Oregon he's been
- 7:40Speaker 1: They've had a really good old line their last couple
- 7:42Speaker 1: of years. But I think to Mike's point, not to
- 7:44Speaker 1: be sneaky negative, like like deuce over here about this,
- 7:47Speaker 1: but not only did we just waste a year? I
- 7:50Speaker 1: would also say that can we do away with this
- 7:54Speaker 1: thinking that they always have to think outside the box,
- 7:56Speaker 1: Like sometimes the most obvious thing is the right thing
- 7:58Speaker 1: to do. Hiring O'Brien was the right thing to do.
- 8:02Speaker 1: And you don't have to reinvent the wheel. We don't
- 8:04Speaker 1: have to have a year a Matt Patricia calling offensive
- 8:08Speaker 1: plays because may oh maybe it will work out, Like no, like,
- 8:11Speaker 1: can we just get people that are should be where
- 8:15Speaker 1: they are have titles, Like I'm done with all this
- 8:18Speaker 1: ambiguity with the coaching staff with the titles, and now
- 8:21Speaker 1: that they got Bill O'Brien and hopefully fill in the
- 8:23Speaker 1: rest of the coaching staff with guys like Adrian Clem,
- 8:26Speaker 1: who you can kind of talk about his background and
- 8:28Speaker 1: maybe it's been so so in the NFL, but at
- 8:30Speaker 1: least he's an offensive lineman who is an offensive line
- 8:33Speaker 1: coach and has experience coaching that position group. Now, when
- 8:36Speaker 1: it comes to the roster, they have some obvious holes
- 8:40Speaker 1: that all of us can just look at the roster
- 8:41Speaker 1: and say, they need tackle help, they need a outside corner,
- 8:45Speaker 1: they need a number one receiver. If they checked off
- 8:48Speaker 1: this box with Bill O'Brien and did the obvious, let's
- 8:50Speaker 1: do the obvious all offseason and then if it doesn't
- 8:52Speaker 1: work out, then we can we have to address some
- 8:55Speaker 1: things with the quarterback and some deeper things about the organization.
- 8:59Speaker 1: But until we get to that point, we really don't
- 9:02Speaker 1: have an answer about those types of things. But I
- 9:04Speaker 1: just think all this notion that we we always have
- 9:07Speaker 1: to be different, that they always have to be unique.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Sometimes it's staring in your face. And finally they just
- 9:12Speaker 1: went and they did the status quo, and I think
- 9:14Speaker 1: it's going to work out for them. Okay, um, so
- 9:18Speaker 1: did the report also include quarterback coaches? He also going
- 9:22Speaker 1: to be the quarterback coach? I would assume he is,
- 9:24Speaker 1: but I don't know what. I just saw his offensive coordinator. So, um,
- 9:27Speaker 1: I think it's a good question though, who's he going
- 9:29Speaker 1: to get to hire? Who's he going to bring in
- 9:32Speaker 1: about the quarterbacks coach? If he if he's that? And
- 9:35Speaker 1: then Curran reported that Matt Patricia could be on his
- 9:38Speaker 1: way out. That was interesting. Could have obviously that means yeah,
- 9:43Speaker 1: he could be, but like, is he going? No? But
- 9:45Speaker 1: did you think there was any chance that he was
- 9:46Speaker 1: going to be completely gone from Fox Mole? No? I
- 9:49Speaker 1: still don't. So I think that is interesting. Yeah, me too,
- 9:52Speaker 1: I would. I would still be really surprised. I mean,
- 9:54Speaker 1: I think it seems I mean, everybody's just saying put
- 9:56Speaker 1: him back upstairs in the earning role. But it just
- 9:58Speaker 1: doesn't seem like them to try to do this, Like
- 10:00Speaker 1: you think so much of him one year, you're willing
- 10:03Speaker 1: to have him not only be the offensive coordiner and
- 10:04Speaker 1: coach the offensive line and then because you know, maybe
- 10:07Speaker 1: it was the implication that because Detroit's money was out,
- 10:10Speaker 1: that now you're out, like one of the that is
- 10:12Speaker 1: the implication. Yeah. Yeah, I don't know Cold. Well, I mean,
- 10:17Speaker 1: I'm not surprised by Cold, but I am surprised by
- 10:21Speaker 1: just one of their guys. And he seems like he's
- 10:23Speaker 1: in the Belichick circle of trust and we'll have a
- 10:25Speaker 1: job here as long as he wants one. I know,
- 10:28Speaker 1: you guys, I'll say, you know, this is big boy
- 10:30Speaker 1: football and we should but I still say, yeah, asked
- 10:34Speaker 1: the guy to do something he'd never done before, he
- 10:36Speaker 1: agreed to do it, and it didn't work out, and
- 10:38Speaker 1: then you fire him, and now, you know, it just
- 10:40Speaker 1: seems a little weird. It's like if I you know,
- 10:43Speaker 1: I told Paul, hey, Paul, I know you never shot video,
- 10:46Speaker 1: but like we we're down a bunch of video people
- 10:48Speaker 1: this year, could you be our main videographer? And then
- 10:51Speaker 1: the person and he has a hard time doing it,
- 10:54Speaker 1: and then I fire him. Yeah, it's like just bringing
- 10:56Speaker 1: him in to be the fall guy. Yeah, black video. Also,
- 11:00Speaker 1: how much of this is is if he isn't here
- 11:03Speaker 1: next year, I do wonder if it's a little bit
- 11:06Speaker 1: of Patricia's decision as well. I don't think it's automatically
- 11:10Speaker 1: just that they don't want him here. At some point
- 11:14Speaker 1: in time, he's got to do some soul searching about
- 11:17Speaker 1: what exactly he wants to do with the rest of
- 11:19Speaker 1: his football career. Well, I thought he had that in
- 11:22Speaker 1: I thought before last season like he was setting himself
- 11:25Speaker 1: up to be more GM personnel type of thing. That's
- 11:30Speaker 1: the actual wording of Tom's story current. Yeah, no, because
- 11:36Speaker 1: I'm just wondering if maybe he's out of the coaching
- 11:39Speaker 1: staff to you a point I heard now Yeah, now
- 11:43Speaker 1: I had heard that too. The way that they talked
- 11:45Speaker 1: about is he could be gone period gone. But I
- 11:48Speaker 1: wonder if maybe there's some miscommunication there or maybe there
- 11:51Speaker 1: you know, he's gone from the coaching staff, but maybe
- 11:53Speaker 1: not necessarily gone from me. That would make the most sense,
- 11:56Speaker 1: like go back to what you were building from before
- 12:00Speaker 1: last year, because he was you know, he was actually
- 12:02Speaker 1: hiring people and scouting and you know, putting in place
- 12:06Speaker 1: new systems and platforms and you know, he was doing
- 12:09Speaker 1: a lot of stuff on that side of the organization.
- 12:13Speaker 1: And to me, it made sense like after his experience
- 12:16Speaker 1: in Detroit, like I don't need this, you know, I'm
- 12:19Speaker 1: getting death threats. Yeah, I don't. I don't need to
- 12:21Speaker 1: be a coach anymore. I mean a tough time for
- 12:23Speaker 1: him to look for a job right now, coming off
- 12:25Speaker 1: of this where Yeah, anyone in New England you could
- 12:27Speaker 1: applied for a Dunk of Donuts job and they probably saw.
- 12:30Speaker 1: I'm with Devan's lyne of thinking too. When he was talking,
- 12:32Speaker 1: when you were just talking about if it might be
- 12:34Speaker 1: his decision, ye like just awkward think about some of
- 12:39Speaker 1: the stuff that came up. Let clearly there was a
- 12:42Speaker 1: huge personality conflict between Mac Jones and Patricia slash judge.
- 12:48Speaker 1: But I think mostly Patricia, and you just wonder if
- 12:52Speaker 1: maybe he looks at it. You know what, I don't
- 12:54Speaker 1: need to be around with this guy. I just you know,
- 12:56Speaker 1: I don't know, I don't need this. I don't even
- 12:59Speaker 1: want to be on the defensive side of the ball
- 13:01Speaker 1: with him as long as he's I don't know, I'll
- 13:03Speaker 1: go back to rockets completely speculating. Yeah, but I just
- 13:06Speaker 1: wanted if he wants to be in football, because he
- 13:09Speaker 1: had you mentioned the death threats and some of the
- 13:11Speaker 1: things he heard from Detroit. I like to think that
- 13:15Speaker 1: it wasn't quite the same last year, but certainly based
- 13:18Speaker 1: off of my Twitter, wasn't getting faked right by one person.
- 13:24Speaker 1: But no, it gets nasty. And if you're him, being
- 13:29Speaker 1: out of the public limelight, Yeah, take her breath for
- 13:33Speaker 1: a year might not be the worst thing those Alabama
- 13:37Speaker 1: message boards about pillilbrian, But that's nasty. It's not even
- 13:41Speaker 1: just Patricia here, It's like he dealt with that in
- 13:43Speaker 1: Detroit too. If I was going years and years of
- 13:46Speaker 1: just being a public target and I had the money
- 13:49Speaker 1: he has and was able to take care of my
- 13:50Speaker 1: family like buy, you would never see that. He wasn't
- 13:54Speaker 1: in the spotlight. He was up top. We never saw him.
- 13:56Speaker 1: He never taught. I feel like even if he's in
- 13:58Speaker 1: that role next year, if he's in the coach's booth
- 14:01Speaker 1: next year, they're still gonna get a camera on him.
- 14:03Speaker 1: We're still going to talk about how last year Patricia
- 14:05Speaker 1: ran the offense and this year it's Bill O'Brien and
- 14:08Speaker 1: the whole transition, And like he's still gonna be a
- 14:11Speaker 1: name that's brought up consistently in coverage of the team. Yeah,
- 14:15Speaker 1: And I wonder if you just look at it from
- 14:17Speaker 1: his perspective. Maybe he feels better just resetting, taking a
- 14:21Speaker 1: year off. I have the money from the Lions contract
- 14:25Speaker 1: in the bank account, and let's figure out in twenty
- 14:28Speaker 1: twenty four. Do I want to coach? Do I want
- 14:31Speaker 1: to be in the front office? So I want to
- 14:32Speaker 1: be in the NFL. I mean, he's got degrees and
- 14:36Speaker 1: all sorts of things, right, So I don't know, it's
- 14:38Speaker 1: just and then it's a tough gig. The other note
- 14:41Speaker 1: that came out regarding Druid Mayo is that he was
- 14:44Speaker 1: involved in these Yeah, and we were wondering about that
- 14:49Speaker 1: last week. Would he you know be and sure well,
- 14:52Speaker 1: not sure enough, But the report says that he was.
- 14:55Speaker 1: And I think that makes sense if he's going to
- 14:58Speaker 1: you know, take on a bigger role here and more
- 15:01Speaker 1: toward head coach, and Bill's going to open up his
- 15:04Speaker 1: world to him, that he would be. I got the
- 15:07Speaker 1: skirt that he would be involved in those interviews, Yeah,
- 15:11Speaker 1: you know, to start that process off so interesting. Well
- 15:15Speaker 1: we'll get I mean, we'll get a little glimpse. I
- 15:18Speaker 1: I don't know. Actually I shouldn't say it that way.
- 15:20Speaker 1: What are we really going to learn from the Shrine
- 15:21Speaker 1: Bowl this weekend? With the different coaches doing different stuff.
- 15:24Speaker 1: And I mean I saw Pellegrino and Brian are are
- 15:27Speaker 1: coaching the DC of the team, and then Troy Brown
- 15:31Speaker 1: the Troy Brown's the head coach. And was there an
- 15:33Speaker 1: OC that I see that? No? No, so maybe Bill Bryan,
- 15:37Speaker 1: I don't know. Welcome go to Vegas. I thought, Russ Douglas. Wow, yeah,
- 15:42Speaker 1: you're right, you're right right, you're right, thank you. Yeah,
- 15:44Speaker 1: so we're getting into that. But you know, Shrine Bowl
- 15:47Speaker 1: coming up. All the Patriots coaches, not all of them,
- 15:50Speaker 1: but most of them are going to be coaching the team,
- 15:53Speaker 1: the Falcons the other side of the ball. Um. So
- 15:56Speaker 1: we'll have a big crew out there covering that catch
- 15:59Speaker 1: twenty to next week from the Shrine Bowl. So that'll
- 16:04Speaker 1: be really fun. So much Vegas, Yeah, a lot of Vegas.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Three Vegas and the Vegas next year too, yeah, Vegas, Vegas. Yeah,
- 16:12Speaker 1: so that'll be we'll talk about that a little later.
- 16:14Speaker 1: So the male thing that was I thought that was interesting.
- 16:18Speaker 1: Um clam now maybe oh line, uh, I'm I think
- 16:24Speaker 1: they should just go ahead and name Steve Belichick the DC. Yeah,
- 16:28Speaker 1: it'll just go ahead and do that, you know. Now,
- 16:31Speaker 1: the thing I worry about if these reports are true
- 16:33Speaker 1: that he wasn't good at presenting the game plan that
- 16:37Speaker 1: was Gerard's, you know role. I wonder about that, if
- 16:41Speaker 1: that maybe was just Okay, he's a little bit better,
- 16:44Speaker 1: let's give him that, Let's do Steve play calling. And
- 16:48Speaker 1: just because they wanted them both involved, and now that
- 16:50Speaker 1: males over, they're comfortable, you know, giving Steve the whole thing.
- 16:54Speaker 1: I don't know, but I think I think they should
- 16:56Speaker 1: name a defensive coordinator. Yeah, I mean, are there going
- 16:59Speaker 1: to be any additional defensive coaches hired too, you know?
- 17:02Speaker 1: Or is there maybe some rejiggering going on? Do they
- 17:04Speaker 1: move to Marcus Covington into a linebacker coaching role to
- 17:07Speaker 1: kind of start to round out his experience a little bit? Right? Um,
- 17:10Speaker 1: we're also focused on the offensive side of the ball.
- 17:12Speaker 1: I mean, i'd be I'd be down with that. I'd
- 17:14Speaker 1: just be curious, if you know, if you lose Mayo
- 17:17Speaker 1: yet now have a linebackers coach, do you need somebody
- 17:19Speaker 1: to kind of take over that? Yeah? Yeah, another another
- 17:22Speaker 1: piece of the pie that might have to put together. Yeah,
- 17:24Speaker 1: so we're starting to you know, at least they did
- 17:28Speaker 1: the right thing, right, away. There was no, like Evans said, ambiguity,
- 17:33Speaker 1: there wasn't any delay. They just got it done. They
- 17:35Speaker 1: finished their interviews and they made the or they didn't
- 17:39Speaker 1: make the announcement. I should, but it's out there. Yeah,
- 17:42Speaker 1: you know, it happened well. And when of them were
- 17:44Speaker 1: saying that too, I personally was just you know, thinking
- 17:46Speaker 1: of the twenty one draft where it was like you
- 17:48Speaker 1: didn't really feel the need to jump all around the board.
- 17:50Speaker 1: You just kind of took the guys that made sense
- 17:52Speaker 1: from programs you trusted. And sometimes those easy moves are
- 17:55Speaker 1: the ones that work out the best, you know, So
- 17:58Speaker 1: hopefully it's a sign, you know, how much and put
- 18:00Speaker 1: as Bill O'Brien gonna have do they, you know, say
- 18:02Speaker 1: to him, hey, we got this fourteenth overall pick. What
- 18:04Speaker 1: do you think? Um? You know, how much input is
- 18:06Speaker 1: he going to have on that in terms of you know,
- 18:07Speaker 1: what does this offense need for you to properly execute
- 18:11Speaker 1: what you have? I mean, you've seen a lot of
- 18:12Speaker 1: numbers going around with you know, Hopkins and the impact
- 18:15Speaker 1: that he clearly had in Houston. It's hard to look
- 18:17Speaker 1: past him with how much success he had under O'Brien.
- 18:21Speaker 1: But I do wonder, you know, I mean as getting
- 18:23Speaker 1: into the draft and starting to look at tackles and receivers,
- 18:26Speaker 1: you know, is that you know something that might be
- 18:28Speaker 1: a debate that that Bill Bill O'Brien might have some
- 18:31Speaker 1: input in as to as to what he thinks he
- 18:32Speaker 1: needs on this offense. I think it definitely trickles down
- 18:35Speaker 1: to the draft, and that is sort of my point
- 18:37Speaker 1: of bringing up the roster construction is at this point,
- 18:41Speaker 1: my whole thing with the draft this year is gonna
- 18:43Speaker 1: be brand names. I don't need Chattanooga, okay, and it's
- 18:46Speaker 1: no no offense to Cole Strange, but I don't need
- 18:50Speaker 1: guys from these alignment and another one of alignment from
- 18:53Speaker 1: there coming out of I don't need these pro you know,
- 18:55Speaker 1: the South Dakota State and Houston and Baylor, which I
- 18:59Speaker 1: know as a part, especially when you have a fourteenth
- 19:06Speaker 1: overall pick in the draft, that's a pick that's not
- 19:08Speaker 1: just oh, we think that this guy's going to be
- 19:11Speaker 1: able to come in and play a role like that's
- 19:13Speaker 1: a pick that should be a pillar of the rebuild.
- 19:15Speaker 1: A guy that is really going to come in and
- 19:17Speaker 1: change something about your offense or your defense for the
- 19:20Speaker 1: better and be an All Pro, Pro Bowl or caliber player.
- 19:24Speaker 1: I just I think that you can stomach it when
- 19:28Speaker 1: we get to the draft and they pick somebody like
- 19:30Speaker 1: Cole Strange, right, and you're why do we have to
- 19:32Speaker 1: do these outside the box things like why do we
- 19:35Speaker 1: have to you know, instead of going up and drafting
- 19:38Speaker 1: Zion Johnson or Tyler Smith who had a great year
- 19:40Speaker 1: for Dallas, like and these guys that everybody else looks
- 19:43Speaker 1: at and says, these are the guys that are going
- 19:45Speaker 1: to be drafted at the top at that position. They
- 19:47Speaker 1: have to be by their own drum. And I think
- 19:50Speaker 1: in this case, with the draft and with free agency
- 19:52Speaker 1: and the whole approach, let's just go about it one
- 19:56Speaker 1: year where we actually just stick to the status quo
- 19:59Speaker 1: and see where that gets us. Because this other direction,
- 20:02Speaker 1: especially in the draft, has not exactly produced great. A
- 20:04Speaker 1: couple of years ago, they you know, two Alabama guys
- 20:07Speaker 1: and two right, and that's probably been their best draft
- 20:10Speaker 1: in the last ten years. Yeah. So you know the
- 20:14Speaker 1: question is what influence does a guy like Matt grow
- 20:17Speaker 1: have and a guy like Elliott Wolf have and what
- 20:20Speaker 1: is their philosophy? You know? Um, is that the reason
- 20:23Speaker 1: why two years ago they drafted the way they did,
- 20:25Speaker 1: and I don't know, but it seemed like they did
- 20:28Speaker 1: that and then you know, back last year's draft they
- 20:31Speaker 1: went back to like taking shots a little bit. Yeah,
- 20:34Speaker 1: you know, yeah, small school guys. Yeah. I think for me,
- 20:37Speaker 1: what I'm what I'm wondering about, Um, you know, is this,
- 20:40Speaker 1: how is Bill O'Brien evolved as a as a football
- 20:42Speaker 1: guy since he was here? I know, you know, when
- 20:45Speaker 1: he was here, some of it was circumstantial with He's
- 20:47Speaker 1: had a journey with the two tight ends. Yeah, Penn
- 20:49Speaker 1: State and you know, the two tight ends and the
- 20:51Speaker 1: and the go fast the one word play called that
- 20:53Speaker 1: was kind of the thing in that little area right
- 20:55Speaker 1: like twenty eleven, twenty twelve when they were really productive
- 20:58Speaker 1: on offense. You know, is that something that still intrigues
- 21:01Speaker 1: him with the tight ends or you know, he's been
- 21:03Speaker 1: around now, he's been in the college game. He's been
- 21:05Speaker 1: influenced by all the you know, different things that have
- 21:07Speaker 1: been coming up over the last ten years in the game.
- 21:09Speaker 1: How much of those things going to be part of
- 21:11Speaker 1: what he wants to do here? You know? Is it
- 21:13Speaker 1: is it gonna look like what it looked like when
- 21:14Speaker 1: he was saying, compared to like Penn State in the Texans,
- 21:19Speaker 1: Alabama must have been like a vacation for him. You know,
- 21:22Speaker 1: where you go in the program set, you don't have
- 21:24Speaker 1: to work, none of the problems or your problems. Here
- 21:27Speaker 1: got the best players. That must have been like child's
- 21:30Speaker 1: play compared to trying to rebuild Penn State in the Texans.
- 21:34Speaker 1: Oh yeah, you know. I will say this though, about
- 21:36Speaker 1: Alabama's offense last year. They their pipeline of skill players
- 21:41Speaker 1: went dry last year. They scored points, but they But
- 21:44Speaker 1: my point is in terms of like NFL prospects at receiver,
- 21:48Speaker 1: it just was not No, no, I'm not saying I'm
- 21:52Speaker 1: not blaming him for it. I'm just saying some of
- 21:54Speaker 1: the inconsistencies of their offense last year. The personnel was
- 21:59Speaker 1: not as good. If you go back to the year
- 22:01Speaker 1: before when they were in the National Championship Game and
- 22:03Speaker 1: they got Jamison Williams and they got all these playmakers
- 22:06Speaker 1: out there, their offense was teriffic. But you say that,
- 22:08Speaker 1: but like the games they lost, they scored like forty
- 22:11Speaker 1: five points. Oh, they scored a lot of points. But
- 22:13Speaker 1: Evan's right, they didn't have the same caliber of skill guys.
- 22:16Speaker 1: But they scored, right, But he also was under a
- 22:19Speaker 1: lot of heat, right, that's the reason. Fairly unfairly though, Well,
- 22:24Speaker 1: I haven't watched the games, you know. I mean I've
- 22:29Speaker 1: watched the game that they lost in overtime, that was
- 22:31Speaker 1: thirty one thirty they lost to LSU. But you know,
- 22:36Speaker 1: twenty three points on regulation is a bad game in college, Yeah,
- 22:39Speaker 1: you know, for for LSU. Yeah, I mean for Alabama
- 22:42Speaker 1: and LSU. I agree with Evan, like, they had so
- 22:46Speaker 1: many great receivers and this is not like you want
- 22:49Speaker 1: to talk about unfair. I've heard him get ripped for
- 22:53Speaker 1: not having any answers in the National Championship game two
- 22:57Speaker 1: years ago against Georgia. So they went into that game
- 23:00Speaker 1: after having forgive me if I'm missing the order, but
- 23:03Speaker 1: I think Mechi towards ACL in the SEC championship games
- 23:07Speaker 1: and Williams in the National Championship game. So you go
- 23:12Speaker 1: into the biggest games of the year without your two
- 23:15Speaker 1: most important offensive players along, you know, other than Bryce Young,
- 23:20Speaker 1: And that's the coordinator's fault for not being able to
- 23:22Speaker 1: adjust on the fly in that National Championship game without
- 23:26Speaker 1: Now you're two best players on the outside. They had
- 23:28Speaker 1: a bunch of young guys and I don't Evans right.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Those guys, Yes, they're Alabama players, but they're not of
- 23:35Speaker 1: the level, yeah, of their predecessors, and it took some
- 23:38Speaker 1: time for them to sort of grow into the role.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Now they have a running back who's dynamic as hell. Yeah,
- 23:45Speaker 1: it gives If you watch their offense, they kind of
- 23:47Speaker 1: built the offense through the running back. It was really
- 23:50Speaker 1: very similar to what the Patriots did last year with
- 23:52Speaker 1: Ramandre And unfortunately, just like the Patriots found out, when
- 23:56Speaker 1: you build the offense through running back in today's day
- 23:58Speaker 1: and age, you just it's not it's not the competitiveness
- 24:03Speaker 1: that you need on that side of the ball to
- 24:04Speaker 1: be a national champion, you know, type of contender. But
- 24:09Speaker 1: I just know that there's going to be a lot
- 24:10Speaker 1: of Patriots fans out there that are going to read
- 24:12Speaker 1: these Alabama Metch's boards or Alabama fans are going to
- 24:15Speaker 1: come through the woodwork and say, it wasn't all that
- 24:18Speaker 1: great here last year. But the reality is is that
- 24:21Speaker 1: they they really did not have. I mean, you look
- 24:25Speaker 1: at their pedigree at wide receiver over the last three
- 24:27Speaker 1: or four years, and it's crazy with the amount of
- 24:30Speaker 1: wide receiver talent that came out of that program. And
- 24:33Speaker 1: to Paul's point, in the National Championship game that year,
- 24:36Speaker 1: they were going right up and down the field on
- 24:37Speaker 1: Georgia until Jamison Williams got hurt and the play he
- 24:40Speaker 1: got hurt on was like a thirty yard completion where
- 24:43Speaker 1: non contact ACL tear. He tears his ACL and that
- 24:46Speaker 1: was really when the offense couldn't find it. But they
- 24:50Speaker 1: were going toe to toe with George's defense up into
- 24:53Speaker 1: that point. Yeah, the other part that's that's you know,
- 24:55Speaker 1: it's also different because you're dealing with a different level
- 24:58Speaker 1: of expectation. So like they're like, when you're Alabama, you're
- 25:03Speaker 1: expecting to score at forty five points in every game,
- 25:05Speaker 1: not lose a game, you know, but if you lose,
- 25:06Speaker 1: you lose, but you're expected to score that, you know,
- 25:09Speaker 1: Like you're not expecting to ever punt. So you're dealing
- 25:14Speaker 1: with a much different level. So the criticism you're getting,
- 25:17Speaker 1: that's where I would say it's unfair, Like don't say,
- 25:20Speaker 1: oh wow, these guys at Alabama and they couldn't they
- 25:22Speaker 1: couldn't wait to get rid of them. They couldn't wait
- 25:24Speaker 1: to get rid of them. You know, I listened to
- 25:26Speaker 1: like Finebaum, you know, and he does all those wacky
- 25:29Speaker 1: Alabama fans on his show yea, and they hate Bill O'Brien. Yeah,
- 25:34Speaker 1: but that's you're dealing with a much different level of expectation,
- 25:37Speaker 1: and you're dealing with a bunch of Patriots sense to
- 25:39Speaker 1: just watch the Mac Patricia coordinated offensive, right that the
- 25:41Speaker 1: bar is pretty little for us, Like that's we're just
- 25:43Speaker 1: excited to have a professional offensive coach here, guy who
- 25:46Speaker 1: actually does it, yeah, for a living. So it'll be interesting,
- 25:50Speaker 1: you know, come May when we have our first mini camp. Yeah,
- 25:54Speaker 1: what does it look like? People will be out? What
- 25:56Speaker 1: kind of offensive there running? Who's lined up? Where it
- 25:58Speaker 1: ends upstairs? Like this is like my Christmas because like
- 26:00Speaker 1: it's a new offense. But but it's it's true. I mean,
- 26:05Speaker 1: we all know exactly what we watched last year early
- 26:08Speaker 1: in camp and all the wide zone stuff they were running,
- 26:10Speaker 1: and it was like what you know, And now, how's
- 26:12Speaker 1: it going to be built again? You know, you're gonna
- 26:14Speaker 1: see some guys in control that really know what they
- 26:16Speaker 1: want and are experienced. So I'm excited for that. Uh.
- 26:19Speaker 1: And of course this paves the way for Tom Brady
- 26:21Speaker 1: coming back. Ah, you're not the first one. I think
- 26:26Speaker 1: that's gonna it's pretty rabid on Twitter. Yeah, there's no way.
- 26:30Speaker 1: I feel like you might retire. I haven't really felt
- 26:33Speaker 1: like that until I saw so staged. Yeah, would you
- 26:39Speaker 1: just ask what? Like Alex said that that was staged
- 26:43Speaker 1: and you said, do you do you think so? Like,
- 26:46Speaker 1: I didn't know, but you're familiar with the Brady. I
- 26:49Speaker 1: know he clearly gets the questions. He could get annoyed
- 26:52Speaker 1: with Jim. Yeah, but if you hear just the like
- 26:57Speaker 1: trying to act annoyed and frustrated with the question. But
- 27:00Speaker 1: there was still like a certain level of the actual delivery.
- 27:03Speaker 1: To me that didn't seem like it didn't seem sincere,
- 27:06Speaker 1: and it didn't seem like he actually he reads it
- 27:10Speaker 1: right off the crip, like the notes Tommy, how are
- 27:13Speaker 1: you this evening? Tom tom and just his like slight
- 27:16Speaker 1: pauses between the two F bombs. I was like, you
- 27:19Speaker 1: felt weird saying that to him. You didn't want to
- 27:22Speaker 1: say that to him, Like, well, I mean, what do
- 27:26Speaker 1: you guys think. I don't think he comes back here
- 27:29Speaker 1: just here. Yeah, I don't ever stream, but I was
- 27:36Speaker 1: I think it was maybe Saturday or Sunday morning. It
- 27:38Speaker 1: was one of Paul's shows. I think Big Jim was
- 27:40Speaker 1: hosting it. It was with Gasper. That's a Saturday morning show,
- 27:43Speaker 1: and they're just they're just going on and on about Brady,
- 27:45Speaker 1: like what like, I I'm not saying it's gonna happen,
- 27:47Speaker 1: but we're gonna talk about it for the next forty
- 27:49Speaker 1: five minutes. I was like, why are you guys wasted
- 27:51Speaker 1: so much time talking about Brady coming back? Like his
- 27:53Speaker 1: Gasper threw something yeah, now, but even he was like,
- 27:57Speaker 1: I don't think it's gonna happen, but I'm just throwing
- 27:58Speaker 1: it out there. Well, does that mean mccordy didn't help.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Mccordy didn't help, and the Bucks, I guess like interviewed
- 28:05Speaker 1: Bill O'Brien for a position, so people ran with that too.
- 28:09Speaker 1: But yeah, the Devin Devin was stirring the vout this
- 28:11Speaker 1: weekend US there was an updated version of that Tampa
- 28:15Speaker 1: Bay thing. I think that story has been completely misinterpreted,
- 28:20Speaker 1: the Rick Stroud story that I read, and maybe there's
- 28:22Speaker 1: a newer one. You guys are much more versed on
- 28:24Speaker 1: what's going on in the internet than I am. Um
- 28:27Speaker 1: he wrote a story saying that they considered Bill O'Brien
- 28:32Speaker 1: last year, thinking they were going to move on from
- 28:35Speaker 1: Byron Leftwich, not this year if but you know, like
- 28:40Speaker 1: that was sort of Gasper's jumping off point was like
- 28:44Speaker 1: it was it was perceived as they're gonna replace Byron
- 28:46Speaker 1: left Which with Billy O'Brien in a last ditch effort
- 28:49Speaker 1: to see if they can get Brady to stay right.
- 28:53Speaker 1: That's a different like that that that's that's to me,
- 28:56Speaker 1: that's desperation. That's a different thing the Tampa connection with Bill,
- 29:00Speaker 1: like all of a sudden, wherever Bill O'Brien goes, as
- 29:02Speaker 1: with Tom Brady's gonna go right. I think Bill O'Brien
- 29:05Speaker 1: and Tom Brady got along well and I think it worked.
- 29:09Speaker 1: But like, I just don't think Brady needs Bill O'Brien
- 29:12Speaker 1: to dictate where he's going next. No, And why why
- 29:15Speaker 1: Bill O'Brien in this situation over just going to Vegas
- 29:18Speaker 1: with Josh McDaniels, Like what makes Bill O'Brien a better
- 29:21Speaker 1: connection to Brady than McDaniels. I just I come back
- 29:25Speaker 1: to the same thing with Brady coming back here, Where
- 29:28Speaker 1: are you in two years? Right? If that's the case.
- 29:31Speaker 1: And I don't know if mac Jones is the guy
- 29:33Speaker 1: or not, but at least you have a future that
- 29:35Speaker 1: you can see a longer runway if he does turn
- 29:38Speaker 1: this around with Bill O'Brien. If Tom Brady comes back,
- 29:41Speaker 1: you're max two years and then you're right back in
- 29:43Speaker 1: the same The only way I think that could work
- 29:46Speaker 1: long term is if you bring him back for two years,
- 29:50Speaker 1: you get rid of Mac now get what you can,
- 29:52Speaker 1: and you have a guy already that you know you're
- 29:56Speaker 1: gonna get that's gonna sit and wait for two years
- 29:58Speaker 1: that you're going to develop in to his predecessor. But
- 30:01Speaker 1: that's a lot of things. That's a lot of things
- 30:03Speaker 1: that have to happen, right and not zappy. Yeah, but
- 30:07Speaker 1: I mean it's it's like, you know how we're gonna
- 30:10Speaker 1: get c. J. Stroud or we know how we're you know, like,
- 30:12Speaker 1: but it's time. If you're bringing Brady back, then you
- 30:15Speaker 1: got to put the chips all in. And if you're
- 30:17Speaker 1: putting the chips all in, then the fourteenth overall pick
- 30:19Speaker 1: has to be an asset for Tom Brady. It can't
- 30:21Speaker 1: be a quarterback. That's what I say it. I'm not
- 30:25Speaker 1: necessarily I just then I think you're you're one foot
- 30:28Speaker 1: in the door and one foot you need to do
- 30:32Speaker 1: it fast. No, but you can you So that to me,
- 30:35Speaker 1: that's that screams free agency. You gotta do it fast
- 30:39Speaker 1: because you know you're all in for Tom. Do what
- 30:42Speaker 1: you have. You guys like to tell me how the
- 30:44Speaker 1: cap matters? Yeah? Right, I don't. You guys like to
- 30:47Speaker 1: tell me it matters. So you're adding Brady but then
- 30:51Speaker 1: completely fixing the roster via free agency? You can, like
- 30:54Speaker 1: you said, you can figure it out. Okay, So as
- 30:56Speaker 1: long as you guys run, I agree you have to
- 30:59Speaker 1: be creative with the UM I agree you have to
- 31:01Speaker 1: be creative with the contracts where there's no creativity allowed,
- 31:06Speaker 1: there's actual cash spent. Yeah, and I think there's a
- 31:09Speaker 1: breaking point, okay, But I'm just saying that, Like, Okay,
- 31:14Speaker 1: so you're you're giving up that fourteenth pick and you
- 31:17Speaker 1: know you're using it to get your quarterback or whatever.
- 31:19Speaker 1: But I'm with Evan on that I don't think you
- 31:21Speaker 1: can get. But there's other ways, you know. I also
- 31:24Speaker 1: just don't know in this draft class, that fourteenth pick,
- 31:27Speaker 1: assuming they don't trade up for a quarterback, that's not
- 31:30Speaker 1: upgrading Mac Jones, right, You're you're you're gonna be in
- 31:33Speaker 1: the Will Levis conversation and Anthony Richardson from Florida is
- 31:37Speaker 1: a total project. Like that's the type of guy you're
- 31:39Speaker 1: talking about there? What I don't know. Yeah, but if
- 31:43Speaker 1: you're getting your love Rock Purty and you figure out
- 31:45Speaker 1: a way to get him from it. But if you're
- 31:46Speaker 1: getting Tom Brady and you're look, you're looking to move
- 31:48Speaker 1: on to a new quarterback like Mac Jones, isn't the
- 31:52Speaker 1: equation I'm looking to move on. I just don't. I'm
- 31:55Speaker 1: with Evan. I don't think you can get Tom Brady
- 31:57Speaker 1: and not give him something to work with at fourteen. Yeah,
- 32:00Speaker 1: whether even if it's a tackle. Well, well, they drafted
- 32:03Speaker 1: Tristan Warfs in his first season with Tampa Bay. I mean,
- 32:05Speaker 1: that's the type of pick you're looking to make there,
- 32:07Speaker 1: You guys, maybe the guys they have are that much
- 32:09Speaker 1: better with Tom Brady. I mean, I think we're all
- 32:12Speaker 1: kind of resigned, and I don't want to stay resigned,
- 32:14Speaker 1: but we're all kind of like it's Mac next year.
- 32:15Speaker 1: Do you think this puts a lot? I mean I
- 32:17Speaker 1: feel like this puts pressure on Mac because I think
- 32:19Speaker 1: we're a lot of us gave Mac kind of a
- 32:21Speaker 1: pass from last year, but well, no, now is the
- 32:23Speaker 1: time now that now with a new coordinator and everything,
- 32:27Speaker 1: now he gets another two years to no. No, well
- 32:30Speaker 1: there's no more. Yeah, well the will that won't be
- 32:36Speaker 1: from from us, from this group now we're here. I
- 32:39Speaker 1: can only speak for myself. I know, no, but it's
- 32:42Speaker 1: I mean, you've got you guys a coordinator. Now, this
- 32:44Speaker 1: is a guy from Alabama. He knows you. For me,
- 32:47Speaker 1: it's there's no more. Well, this is it. But I
- 32:49Speaker 1: know there's that narrative that they know each other, and
- 32:52Speaker 1: they do know each other, but they never played. But
- 32:54Speaker 1: like even Schefter's tweet today was highly misleading. Yeah they
- 32:58Speaker 1: worked together, they didn't. Yeah, I think what did he
- 33:01Speaker 1: spend like three days to him going over there? Jones
- 33:07Speaker 1: introduced him to the offense. Yeah, that's it, that he
- 33:09Speaker 1: left prepared for the combine exactly jan But I do
- 33:12Speaker 1: think that there's a lot to be said, all right
- 33:15Speaker 1: about this when I kind of explain it in picture
- 33:19Speaker 1: for him, the alabamafying of the Patriots offense that I
- 33:22Speaker 1: think they tried to dip their toe in with Matt
- 33:24Speaker 1: Patricia and Joe Judge, but they just didn't have the
- 33:27Speaker 1: offensive chops to really pull it off. Now you bring
- 33:30Speaker 1: a sophisticated coach that's coached in it for two seasons,
- 33:34Speaker 1: and I think there's going to be a lot of
- 33:36Speaker 1: really good overlap between what he did with McDaniels in
- 33:39Speaker 1: twenty twenty one and then what he did in college
- 33:41Speaker 1: that Bill O'Brien can bring. And what I like about
- 33:43Speaker 1: the Bill Bryant's path back to the Patriots is that
- 33:47Speaker 1: it did take him through the college game, so he
- 33:49Speaker 1: learned some of these newer age schemes and newer age designs,
- 33:53Speaker 1: I think, things like that. So it's not just the
- 33:57Speaker 1: bland old Patriots offense that maybe we saw in twenty one.
- 34:01Speaker 1: It will have some level of RPO motion, you know,
- 34:04Speaker 1: different formations that college teams use that NFL teams might
- 34:08Speaker 1: not use as much, and update what they were running.
- 34:12Speaker 1: And I think in twenty in seven through eleven, like
- 34:15Speaker 1: when he was here the first time, especially in twenty eleven,
- 34:18Speaker 1: they that was the first update of that Patriots offense,
- 34:22Speaker 1: I would say, is when they went through that transition
- 34:24Speaker 1: from McDaniels to Bill O'Brien. So I think that there's
- 34:27Speaker 1: going to be a new age type of thing that
- 34:30Speaker 1: he brings to the table, which I like, I do
- 34:33Speaker 1: you worry though that maybe not like because I mean,
- 34:35Speaker 1: I just I just want to like throw this out there.
- 34:36Speaker 1: He was only in college for two years, you know.
- 34:38Speaker 1: I mean, what if he was there and he's like
- 34:39Speaker 1: this stuff is nice, It's not going to work in
- 34:41Speaker 1: the NFL. Like, do I mean, do we feel like
- 34:43Speaker 1: he's definitely become enamored with these different kind of cars?
- 34:46Speaker 1: Wouldn't necessarily do, right? I don't know, if you know,
- 34:53Speaker 1: I can't answer that definitively, but I Alabama's RPO package,
- 34:57Speaker 1: which is really designed by by Steve Sarkisian, Max's offensive
- 35:01Speaker 1: coordinator at Alabama. It's widely known as probably the best
- 35:05Speaker 1: RPO package in football because of the way that it
- 35:09Speaker 1: utilizes downfield routes off the RPOs and then motion as well.
- 35:14Speaker 1: So they run RPOs with downfield routes. They're not just
- 35:17Speaker 1: running bubble screens. They're running slants and they're running seams,
- 35:21Speaker 1: and they're running things down the field to pull up
- 35:23Speaker 1: those linebackers and hit the throws over the middle of
- 35:25Speaker 1: the field and hit receivers on the move, like when
- 35:28Speaker 1: Mac was at Alabama in twenty one, he would hit
- 35:31Speaker 1: Davante Smith on the five yards slant in stride and
- 35:34Speaker 1: Smith would take it fifty yards to the house, right
- 35:36Speaker 1: Like that was a big part of their offense because
- 35:40Speaker 1: and the scheming and the ability to pull guys out
- 35:43Speaker 1: of passing lines and things like that. It's really well
- 35:46Speaker 1: known as probably the best and most sophisticated RPO package
- 35:50Speaker 1: in any level of football. So I can't just imagine
- 35:52Speaker 1: that they're going to get here. Max spent on board
- 35:55Speaker 1: with it and then to be like, no, what I'm
- 35:57Speaker 1: not doing well? And I think this is where it's
- 36:00Speaker 1: interesting because I mean, you blost your mind when Bill
- 36:03Speaker 1: Belichick gave the answer about RPOs and what he thought
- 36:05Speaker 1: they were, And so I mean, what if that's Bill
- 36:08Speaker 1: with Bill O'Brien and saying that's that's nice, but that's
- 36:11Speaker 1: not what we're gonna do. You know, Like I'm wondering
- 36:14Speaker 1: where the where the wiggle room's going to be for
- 36:16Speaker 1: is it Bill O'Brien, Man, we'd done screwed up last year, Man,
- 36:20Speaker 1: come fix everything. It's all on you, or is it
- 36:22Speaker 1: you know, still Bill Belichick kind of all right, but
- 36:25Speaker 1: we wanted this way, you know, I just I wonder
- 36:27Speaker 1: it's it's both ways. The run game is going to
- 36:31Speaker 1: be interesting. That's the most interesting thing to me, because
- 36:34Speaker 1: he had Deshaun before that, and then he had Bryce Young,
- 36:37Speaker 1: so he had two mobile quarterbacks. And I watched a
- 36:39Speaker 1: ton of Alabama table over the last week because I
- 36:41Speaker 1: kind of had an inkling that this was going to happen,
- 36:43Speaker 1: as we all did, and so much of their run
- 36:46Speaker 1: game is read option with Bryce Young's mobility being a factor.
- 36:49Speaker 1: So you have to really go back for O'Brien, I
- 36:52Speaker 1: would say to like the twenty eleven Patriot's right and
- 36:55Speaker 1: go all the way back to when Brady was the
- 36:58Speaker 1: quarterback for him to I mean, there are different games
- 37:01Speaker 1: here and there where Deshaun was heard, or his quarterback
- 37:04Speaker 1: in Houston in his first year before they got Watson
- 37:06Speaker 1: and things like that where they didn't have true mobile quarterbacks.
- 37:09Speaker 1: But you really have to go back aways to find
- 37:12Speaker 1: an offense that he runs where mobility by that position
- 37:15Speaker 1: is not a factor in their d I do I
- 37:17Speaker 1: do worry about, you know, when we talk about like
- 37:20Speaker 1: any offense at the college level, at the high college
- 37:23Speaker 1: level when you talk about the Alabamas, you know, where
- 37:27Speaker 1: they have the best players and that translating to the pros,
- 37:30Speaker 1: Like it's not a one for one thing. You know,
- 37:33Speaker 1: like defenses in the pros are bigger and faster. They
- 37:37Speaker 1: don't play defense in college anymore very much. You know,
- 37:40Speaker 1: so like it's just it's not gonna just you know, oh,
- 37:44Speaker 1: this is what we did in Alabama and now we're
- 37:46Speaker 1: gonna do it in the NFL. Yeah. Well that and
- 37:49Speaker 1: that's I would tie that into the draft though, you know, like,
- 37:50Speaker 1: well what do you need? Like I mean, now, Bill
- 37:52Speaker 1: O'Brien is maybe down the hall right now and they're
- 37:54Speaker 1: maybe having a meeting of what do we have to do?
- 37:57Speaker 1: Here's who we have coming back? You know, how do
- 37:59Speaker 1: you feel about jakobeys? You know, what's his impression to him?
- 38:02Speaker 1: Should we you know? Add those meetings are what I'm
- 38:04Speaker 1: curious how here's our schedules, by the way, here's our opponents,
- 38:07Speaker 1: here's the guys that can be problems in certain games.
- 38:10Speaker 1: You know, how do we as an offense combat that.
- 38:13Speaker 1: So we threw out you know, the Brady thing that
- 38:17Speaker 1: is sort of the sensational Yeah, I think we all agree,
- 38:21Speaker 1: it's not going to happen. The other Internet sensation is
- 38:25Speaker 1: the betting odds on Lamar Jackson and the Patriots having
- 38:27Speaker 1: the best betting odds other than him returning to Baltimore. Yeah, so,
- 38:32Speaker 1: giving all the stuff that we just talked about with
- 38:35Speaker 1: the offense and you know, sort of Bryce young and
- 38:39Speaker 1: having mobility, and you know, I go back to Billy
- 38:42Speaker 1: O's time in Houston with Deshaun Watson, like maybe, you know,
- 38:48Speaker 1: I think Evan and I have been lockstep on Lamar
- 38:50Speaker 1: Jackson's a great talent, But what do you need to
- 38:52Speaker 1: do to sort of transform your offense to fit him?
- 38:55Speaker 1: But maybe it's not as big a transformation if you
- 38:58Speaker 1: bring it in a guy like Billy O and who
- 39:00Speaker 1: has a background with dealing with that kind of a
- 39:02Speaker 1: pass and it may not be as big a transformation
- 39:05Speaker 1: as it was when he first came into the league
- 39:07Speaker 1: because he's a better passer. Now he is a better passer.
- 39:10Speaker 1: But I just I don't I don't dismiss things as
- 39:13Speaker 1: out of hand as easily. Now you want to talk
- 39:16Speaker 1: about a difficult you know, a bunch of hoops to
- 39:20Speaker 1: you know, jump through. You have two hundred plus million
- 39:24Speaker 1: and guaranteed money, you have probably two first round picks,
- 39:29Speaker 1: you know what I mean, that's what it would be
- 39:30Speaker 1: if they franchise them minimum because they can always use
- 39:33Speaker 1: a different kind of trade, you know, and they don't
- 39:35Speaker 1: have to, you know, take But I mean it costs
- 39:38Speaker 1: them three first rounds of Cleveland to get Watson, and
- 39:42Speaker 1: Watson hadn't played in the whole year. Yeah, I don't think.
- 39:45Speaker 1: To me, that's highly unlikely. But it's not on the
- 39:47Speaker 1: Tom Brady level, but it's it's up there. It's highly unlikely.
- 39:51Speaker 1: But I just, you know, given all the stuff that
- 39:53Speaker 1: Evan just talked about with the offensive scheme and the
- 39:56Speaker 1: ability of the quarterback to sort of make the defense
- 40:00Speaker 1: aspect the possibility of a run, do you think that
- 40:04Speaker 1: do you think that kind of move would originate with
- 40:06Speaker 1: a belichicker with craft? You know, like that just feels
- 40:09Speaker 1: like an organ It would have to originate with the
- 40:12Speaker 1: coaching and then it would have to be signed off on.
- 40:14Speaker 1: But yeah, I don't think. I mean, it just sounds
- 40:16Speaker 1: like such a major franchise altering move that you know.
- 40:21Speaker 1: I just but if the coach isn't isn't invested in it,
- 40:24Speaker 1: it doesn't work Now if the coaches that's something the
- 40:27Speaker 1: coach thinks might work, he still needs to have ownership
- 40:29Speaker 1: sign off on it, because you're not giving a guy
- 40:31Speaker 1: two hundred million guaranteed. Yeah, or I mean I just
- 40:34Speaker 1: even walking down the street. You know, Robert says, we
- 40:38Speaker 1: gotta do something big, we gotta we gotta shake it up.
- 40:41Speaker 1: We've got to make a move that is going to
- 40:43Speaker 1: put the rest of the AFC on notice. You know,
- 40:44Speaker 1: like that, like maybe not doesn't want to do it.
- 40:47Speaker 1: It's not and you know the coach would have to
- 40:49Speaker 1: convince him. You know, as a businessman, Robert's doing risk
- 40:52Speaker 1: analysis on all of these decisions, and you know what
- 40:56Speaker 1: is the risk analysis of bringing in this individual? You
- 40:59Speaker 1: know when it comes to not just the money, but
- 41:01Speaker 1: the availability, the injury, you know, likeliness and all that stuff.
- 41:05Speaker 1: And boy, it would take a lot of convincing. I
- 41:08Speaker 1: think for Bill to convince Robert to do that, I
- 41:11Speaker 1: don't see that happening. I just I look at the
- 41:14Speaker 1: Bill O'Brien high and I know that every station under
- 41:16Speaker 1: the sun's going to link it to Tom Brady and
- 41:18Speaker 1: link it to all these other quarterbacks. I ultimately think
- 41:21Speaker 1: that this is about make it or break it. Year
- 41:24Speaker 1: three with Mac Jones, we got him his guy or
- 41:27Speaker 1: a guy that he's familiar with that's coming from his
- 41:30Speaker 1: offense and in college, and let's see what we have.
- 41:33Speaker 1: We can have all these conversations. I think next off
- 41:35Speaker 1: season if it doesn't look any better or really doesn't
- 41:38Speaker 1: make that big of a jump, especially if it looks
- 41:40Speaker 1: like let's say it looks exactly like it did his
- 41:42Speaker 1: rookie year and we say, well that's a ceiling, then
- 41:45Speaker 1: right like, that's as good as we're gonna get with
- 41:46Speaker 1: Mac Jones. Then we start having these conversations of bringing
- 41:50Speaker 1: in these veteran, you know, franchise stud quarterbacks. I think,
- 41:53Speaker 1: right now this higher is let's see if Billy can
- 41:56Speaker 1: fix Mac Jones. And I think that's clearly you know,
- 41:59Speaker 1: if it's like, what do we say, you know, less
- 42:02Speaker 1: than one percent for Brady and maybe five percent for
- 42:05Speaker 1: the rest of it, is that right? You know? The
- 42:07Speaker 1: ninety four and a half percent is fix Mac Jones.
- 42:12Speaker 1: I know it's just not the it's not the sexier topic, right,
- 42:15Speaker 1: So that's why people talk about but it's way to me,
- 42:19Speaker 1: it's way more important it discuss what are the next
- 42:21Speaker 1: steps now for mac Jones in the offense and talking
- 42:25Speaker 1: about bringing back is Tom Brady now back in play?
- 42:28Speaker 1: I just that's why I like what you said about
- 42:30Speaker 1: if he played like he did as a rookie, that's
- 42:32Speaker 1: the ceiling, and I think that that's you know, it's
- 42:34Speaker 1: probably a conversation we'll have all summer of you know,
- 42:36Speaker 1: what are you expecting from Mac? What does he need
- 42:38Speaker 1: to do for you to say, let's pick up that
- 42:40Speaker 1: that fifth year option next offseason. You know how I
- 42:42Speaker 1: like to give you the the reaction before it happens.
- 42:46Speaker 1: So if that happens, I agree with Evan, like the
- 42:48Speaker 1: way you evn't explained it was, it was how I
- 42:50Speaker 1: would feel. But you guys know that I'm sort of
- 42:52Speaker 1: not sold on mac Jones. I think the the outcry
- 42:56Speaker 1: would be, well, yeah, they got him back to like
- 42:59Speaker 1: he was below baseline. They got him back to where
- 43:01Speaker 1: he was. Now, let's see with second year if he
- 43:03Speaker 1: can make the auduba on that. All of a sudden,
- 43:06Speaker 1: you're into year four now you may or may not
- 43:10Speaker 1: have probably didn't pick up the fifty year option, and
- 43:13Speaker 1: you have to figure out what's going He'd still be cheap.
- 43:15Speaker 1: Fourth year would be cheap the fifth year would not.
- 43:18Speaker 1: But yeah, it's but I mean it's still it's year
- 43:22Speaker 1: three now, and he's had three years. And as much
- 43:24Speaker 1: as this year was a flush it down the toilet year,
- 43:26Speaker 1: he must have learned some stuff. I mean, he had
- 43:28Speaker 1: a year of NFL experience this, you know, certainly dealing
- 43:31Speaker 1: with injury. I think from one of the first times
- 43:32Speaker 1: in his career something that kind of adversity has has changed.
- 43:35Speaker 1: But I mean, I got I think the bar is
- 43:37Speaker 1: pretty high. I think it's pretty high for him next year,
- 43:39Speaker 1: and I mean it'll only get higher as they make
- 43:42Speaker 1: more moves that will, you know, inspire people to say,
- 43:45Speaker 1: all right, well you just signed this good left tackle,
- 43:47Speaker 1: you drafted this left tackle, you drafted this you know,
- 43:49Speaker 1: really great weapon that's you know, explosive, and you know
- 43:52Speaker 1: those things I feel like are are gonna also build
- 43:55Speaker 1: some pressure on Mac. I mean, it's a big year
- 43:56Speaker 1: for I hope that Bill O'Brien. One of the best
- 44:00Speaker 1: things I like about him from so many levels is
- 44:02Speaker 1: that I don't think that this is a yes man
- 44:04Speaker 1: like I think Bill O'Brien's got a backbone and he's
- 44:06Speaker 1: gonna stand up for himself. Both with the quarterback, like
- 44:10Speaker 1: the little hissy fits that we saw last year from
- 44:12Speaker 1: Mac Jones. That's not gonna happen anymore under this call.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Might but you're gonna have a fight. Right, everybody's seen
- 44:17Speaker 1: the video today of Bill O'Brien and right, but also
- 44:21Speaker 1: from an organ you know a personnel standpoint, if you're
- 44:24Speaker 1: Bill O'Brien and you had the deficiencies the Alabama offense
- 44:29Speaker 1: had last year at the receiver position, and then after
- 44:32Speaker 1: you traded DeAndre Hopkins in Houston, your offense went to
- 44:34Speaker 1: crap two in Houston, that number one receiver and that
- 44:38Speaker 1: big time playmaker. I'm hoping that he's one of the
- 44:41Speaker 1: guys that's in the room banging the table for it, saying, Bill,
- 44:44Speaker 1: if I'm gonna get us to where you want me
- 44:46Speaker 1: to get us, I need one of these guys on
- 44:49Speaker 1: the team. And I think in that offense and with
- 44:50Speaker 1: this quarterback, getting a guy that can turn that eight
- 44:54Speaker 1: yard pass when he hits him in stride into that
- 44:57Speaker 1: big explosive play, or they can use him in motion,
- 45:00Speaker 1: they can use him in the RPO package like that
- 45:02Speaker 1: ball carrier. I think is just as important as an
- 45:05Speaker 1: outside receiver when you have a quarterback like Mac Jones.
- 45:08Speaker 1: That's the type of guy he had with DeVante Smith
- 45:11Speaker 1: right in Alabama. Was somebody that could really get open
- 45:14Speaker 1: quickly and create with the football in his hands at
- 45:16Speaker 1: that level, that's the type of guy I'm looking at
- 45:19Speaker 1: now for them to go out and get. I would
- 45:21Speaker 1: love DeAndre Hopkins too. I love te Higgins also, but
- 45:25Speaker 1: somebody like that I think is really what would drive
- 45:28Speaker 1: with both the quarterback and in this It's funny if
- 45:30Speaker 1: Billio goes to Belichick and listen, we gotta have this guy.
- 45:33Speaker 1: We gotta have the number one guy. There's all the
- 45:35Speaker 1: things that ever just said, Great, let's go for DeAndre Hopkins.
- 45:38Speaker 1: How about anybody but him? So well, I think Hopkins
- 45:44Speaker 1: said he had no relationships. No relationship. Yeah, so that's
- 45:46Speaker 1: good then though, it's a blank slate, clean slate. Yeah,
- 45:50Speaker 1: that's one. That's one I put on Billy O. Yeah.
- 45:55Speaker 1: That's where I think the teapot got him in trouble. Yeah,
- 45:58Speaker 1: like he I think he got in trouble later in
- 46:01Speaker 1: his tenure with Houston, trying to rest total control and
- 46:06Speaker 1: more concerned about not necessarily the moves he was making,
- 46:10Speaker 1: but the fact that he was making them and I'm
- 46:13Speaker 1: going to show you who's in charge, and that was
- 46:15Speaker 1: one of them. I think that should have been able
- 46:17Speaker 1: to be worked out. Uh. Could Stefan Diggs be looking
- 46:21Speaker 1: for a new team? Sure, yeah, we'll get him. Me
- 46:24Speaker 1: and Paul have Fred, I mean Fred Mike would be
- 46:28Speaker 1: completely in the corner, just like in the fetal position,
- 46:30Speaker 1: sucking his thumb like so upset. Did you see what
- 46:32Speaker 1: he was pulling this weekend? Yeah, I don't like, can
- 46:36Speaker 1: we get somebody that I don't like it? The team's
- 46:38Speaker 1: not doing well and all of a sudden, you know, you're,
- 46:41Speaker 1: you know, so demonstrative to see him lay out that
- 46:45Speaker 1: woman on the sideline that the and went over and
- 46:48Speaker 1: picked her up, and I was like, this deuce another
- 46:51Speaker 1: another example of the bad guy debay. Fair to Stefan Diggs,
- 46:56Speaker 1: but Josh Allen did not play great in that. Fine,
- 47:00Speaker 1: what happens to you know, like you don't do that?
- 47:04Speaker 1: I understand, But like, I don't have any problem on
- 47:07Speaker 1: the field. The fact that after the game he took
- 47:09Speaker 1: all this stuff and left and Duke Johnson had to
- 47:11Speaker 1: go get him and make him go back to Yeah,
- 47:15Speaker 1: I have a problem with that. I don't have a
- 47:16Speaker 1: problem with him being upset on the field. I mean,
- 47:18Speaker 1: the first third down of the game, he's got a
- 47:20Speaker 1: touchdown if he hits him in stride and Josh Allen
- 47:22Speaker 1: throws a five yards over his head. Like that game
- 47:25Speaker 1: started off terrible, but for the two of them right,
- 47:27Speaker 1: that connection just was not and he had to catch
- 47:31Speaker 1: on the one touchdown drive they had in the of
- 47:33Speaker 1: the game. Um, he cut a little hook or hitch
- 47:37Speaker 1: and it was low and he cut the ball and
- 47:39Speaker 1: he's like, yeah, we'll get the ball out right, like
- 47:42Speaker 1: they clearly. I mean, Alan was terrible in the game.
- 47:44Speaker 1: I mean like sometimes it happens, but you know, like
- 47:48Speaker 1: for Digs, I get it. Do I want him do it?
- 47:51Speaker 1: Like if I was the coach, would I say that's
- 47:53Speaker 1: what I want? No, I don't want him a little composure,
- 47:56Speaker 1: I get it. I don't find hup going over to
- 47:58Speaker 1: Josh Allen and that like gosh, you know, like just
- 48:01Speaker 1: talking to him. But when you're doing it for everyone
- 48:03Speaker 1: to see, Yeah, you're showing him up and you're making it.
- 48:07Speaker 1: You know, I'm playing well he's not, and he's got
- 48:09Speaker 1: he's got that wide receive a diva thing, just like
- 48:12Speaker 1: they all do. And I mentioned this to do so
- 48:15Speaker 1: it's like, you know, three years ago, you know, we're
- 48:18Speaker 1: all watching the AFC Championship game in Kansas City. Wins
- 48:20Speaker 1: a tough, tough game at the end, and you know
- 48:23Speaker 1: we get all the shots of Stefan Diggs. I'm gonna
- 48:25Speaker 1: stay on the field, right, I'm gonna stay in the field.
- 48:27Speaker 1: I'm gonna watch because I want to remember this. Yeah,
- 48:29Speaker 1: we'll be back. This was a sudden for everybody. Two
- 48:33Speaker 1: years later, two years later, you're out in the division
- 48:35Speaker 1: around at home and you're like, am after your quarterback
- 48:38Speaker 1: and taking all your stuff out of the locker rood.
- 48:41Speaker 1: He is thirty. You know, he's getting up there, and
- 48:43Speaker 1: I think it's no. And I think that that's that's
- 48:45Speaker 1: an underlying theme of what that entire teams because that
- 48:49Speaker 1: like it won't last forever, Like you have a lot
- 48:52Speaker 1: of talent, but if you don't find a way to win.
- 48:55Speaker 1: They thought they were going to be the Patriots. They're
- 48:56Speaker 1: never gonna be the This was their window from a
- 49:00Speaker 1: just a bold statement there. They're never going to go
- 49:03Speaker 1: to the super Bowl nine times in twenty years. Allen
- 49:06Speaker 1: extension kicks in next year that big money at quarterback
- 49:09Speaker 1: extension next year, Digs's thirty player. Hide those guys are
- 49:13Speaker 1: getting up there. They're either gonna win or they're not.
- 49:16Speaker 1: It's not gonna have anything to do with the capt
- 49:19Speaker 1: I think a couple of things I took away from
- 49:21Speaker 1: this weekend though, was the value of when we talk
- 49:23Speaker 1: plenty about the value of having a guy, um, but
- 49:26Speaker 1: the value of having those second and third level guys
- 49:29Speaker 1: that that that come through in the clutch for you,
- 49:32Speaker 1: you know, and I support. I think that was one
- 49:33Speaker 1: of the things with Buffalo. I mean, we talked plenty
- 49:35Speaker 1: about it. It's just actually on lockstep with Evan that
- 49:38Speaker 1: came to me, came down to Josh Allen just did
- 49:40Speaker 1: not play. Oh yeah, No, I'm just saying generally from
- 49:42Speaker 1: the whole weekend, like just you know, I thought, like Dallas,
- 49:44Speaker 1: you know, once they lost Pollard, it's it's just we
- 49:46Speaker 1: spend so much time focusing on trying to get that
- 49:48Speaker 1: one guy, and it's I think sometimes you forget that
- 49:51Speaker 1: that you really do to be one of those special teams,
- 49:54Speaker 1: you need. You need guys who can you know, step
- 49:56Speaker 1: up in the clutch. It doesn't they don't have to
- 49:57Speaker 1: come out you know, I have a hundred catch season,
- 49:59Speaker 1: but but when you get into the playoffs, these are guys,
- 50:02Speaker 1: you know, that step up and make those Buffalo had
- 50:04Speaker 1: actually a few of those guys. I thought Beasley, you know,
- 50:06Speaker 1: made Easley two or three catches. I thought Shakier, Um,
- 50:10Speaker 1: you know made two or three catches. Is weird that
- 50:12Speaker 1: these guys problem And Josh Allen didn't make the throws? Yeah,
- 50:16Speaker 1: he didn't do what he normally does. If I'm a
- 50:18Speaker 1: if I'm a Patriots fan, I know we're all reveling
- 50:20Speaker 1: in the Bills Missouri right now, But if I'm a
- 50:22Speaker 1: Patriots and the one thing that I would be a
- 50:24Speaker 1: little bit concerned about is if they identify some of
- 50:27Speaker 1: the holes that they have on that roster. And let's
- 50:29Speaker 1: say I do think that they need another another guy.
- 50:32Speaker 1: It doesn't need to be on Stefon Diggs's level, but
- 50:35Speaker 1: dab Davis was supposed to be their number two receiver
- 50:37Speaker 1: and it didn't make the jumps. So if they go
- 50:39Speaker 1: out and they get somebody that's more proven number two guy,
- 50:43Speaker 1: just to find Diggs, because if you look at their
- 50:46Speaker 1: skill position group outside of Diggs compared to Burrow or
- 50:50Speaker 1: what Mahomes is working with or or some of the
- 50:52Speaker 1: other guys are working with that are still in it.
- 50:54Speaker 1: It's not as good. It's not as good as what
- 50:57Speaker 1: Philly has around Jalen Hurt he gave Davis in that game. Yeah,
- 51:01Speaker 1: I mean, I would say, and that's a great point.
- 51:04Speaker 1: I also just I think the biggest thing for me
- 51:05Speaker 1: with Josh Allen is just like, how do we get
- 51:07Speaker 1: him to not put it all on himself? You know,
- 51:10Speaker 1: I don't think anybody was really surprised here that the
- 51:12Speaker 1: Buffalo lost. I was a little surprised that they were
- 51:15Speaker 1: in a hole as quick as they were, and that
- 51:17Speaker 1: they didn't push back a little bit more than I
- 51:18Speaker 1: thought they would. But you know, I just I think
- 51:21Speaker 1: that they probably will, I think, get a super Bowl
- 51:23Speaker 1: at some point when he'll play out of his mind
- 51:25Speaker 1: for three or four games and it'll and it'll be perfect.
- 51:28Speaker 1: But it's hard to see them sustaining that year after year.
- 51:32Speaker 1: I mean, they'll always be kind of in the mix,
- 51:33Speaker 1: but when it's so heavily dependent on him and how
- 51:36Speaker 1: he plays, and you know, I actually I think Buffalo
- 51:42Speaker 1: is pretty good. I don't think it's overly depending. I mean,
- 51:44Speaker 1: I think I don't think it's any more dependent on
- 51:47Speaker 1: him than any any other team that has a great quarterback.
- 51:50Speaker 1: I just think he picked a bad day in the
- 51:53Speaker 1: defense was abysmal. Now they're not good and bad weather. Okay,
- 52:00Speaker 1: if if you want to look at it like in
- 52:04Speaker 1: terms of like what you guys talk about with the
- 52:06Speaker 1: cap and if that's relevant, they lost cap, they lost
- 52:10Speaker 1: a lot of starters on defense, and the defense went
- 52:13Speaker 1: in the toilet. I personally think it's there are other
- 52:18Speaker 1: things involved, And I'll tell you one thing that would
- 52:20Speaker 1: really worry me if I were a Bills fan, the
- 52:22Speaker 1: fact that Alan doesn't think he needs surgery and it's
- 52:25Speaker 1: just gonna like he wasn't the same after he hurt
- 52:28Speaker 1: that elbow, and if there's nothing quote unquote really wrong.
- 52:31Speaker 1: He says, he admitted that he started throwing the ball differently.
- 52:34Speaker 1: I would worry about that elbow long term. I would
- 52:37Speaker 1: just worry also about the coaching, honestly, because I don't
- 52:40Speaker 1: know enough about These are two playoff sequences in a
- 52:44Speaker 1: row where Sean McDermott and Leslie Frasier have gotten out
- 52:47Speaker 1: coached on their side of the ball, their defensive coaches
- 52:49Speaker 1: as their background. Patrick Mahomes put up what forty five
- 52:52Speaker 1: points to knock them out last year, and then they'd
- 52:55Speaker 1: had no answers for Joe Burrow and the Bengals this year.
- 52:58Speaker 1: So I think offensively Dorsey grows into that role for
- 53:01Speaker 1: them as an offensive coordinator. But defensively, those are those
- 53:05Speaker 1: are their guys, and there are two veteran coaches that
- 53:07Speaker 1: have been around the block, and they keep on getting
- 53:09Speaker 1: beat by better quarterbacks. Yeah, I mean, I do think
- 53:12Speaker 1: that some of that had to do with the personnel
- 53:15Speaker 1: that they were missing, but that's fact. They got dominated
- 53:18Speaker 1: on their defense, got dominated two years in a row.
- 53:22Speaker 1: All right, let's turn it over to the listeners. Eight
- 53:24Speaker 1: five five Pats five hundred is the ACE Ticket Hotline
- 53:27Speaker 1: web radio at patrios dot com. We have some people
- 53:30Speaker 1: patiently holding on. We just leave them because we're going
- 53:32Speaker 1: to the calls. Yeah, Deuce is just leaving, just walking out. Rude.
- 53:37Speaker 1: Patti's anagaham, what's up? Patting behind the velvet ropes and
- 53:39Speaker 1: his Christmas sweater? What's up everyone? Hey, I'll save my
- 53:45Speaker 1: Josh Allen ran for Thursday. I don't hate Allan or
- 53:48Speaker 1: the build, you know, as much as the other two
- 53:51Speaker 1: teams in the division. But uh, just going off this
- 53:53Speaker 1: Billy O'Brian news, I'm happy. I'm like, you know, I'm
- 53:57Speaker 1: interested to see what they're gonna do as far as
- 53:59Speaker 1: like filling in the rest of the holes of their
- 54:00Speaker 1: coaching staff. But um, this is something that Marine Corps
- 54:04Speaker 1: Matt I think can speak on as well as I can.
- 54:07Speaker 1: But um, I'm gonna sort of correlate Bill and Bill
- 54:11Speaker 1: O'Brien to to boot camp. Now, when you're at boot camp,
- 54:14Speaker 1: your senior drill instructors like mom, right, and you don't
- 54:17Speaker 1: want to piss mom off, and that's Bill Belichick. But
- 54:22Speaker 1: you have that one guy, that one other drill instructor,
- 54:24Speaker 1: because you usually have like three or four, that's that Daddy,
- 54:28Speaker 1: and you don't If you get Dad, Matt, forget it,
- 54:31Speaker 1: You're done. Like Dad's gonna freaking worky to the ground.
- 54:34Speaker 1: So I can't see like Mac having this sort of
- 54:36Speaker 1: outbursts that he has this year that he did have
- 54:39Speaker 1: this past year. And um, I mean this year, there's
- 54:42Speaker 1: there's gonna be no excuses, you know, this, this is it.
- 54:45Speaker 1: This is the guy that should see we'll see if
- 54:50Speaker 1: there's no excuses, you know, like if they don't bring
- 54:52Speaker 1: in a number one wide receiver and tackle still looks
- 54:55Speaker 1: like a mess. They'll be excuses. Yeah, but as far
- 55:00Speaker 1: that goes, I think they could coach up the old
- 55:01Speaker 1: line and Freddie, you're right. I mean, if they don't
- 55:03Speaker 1: address the O line and free agency, they have to
- 55:06Speaker 1: they have to go with their first pick O line.
- 55:09Speaker 1: But a name you guys brought up last week that
- 55:12Speaker 1: I would I'm intrigued by his Jackson Smith and Jigba
- 55:15Speaker 1: from Ohio State. I'd like to see what he would
- 55:17Speaker 1: look like in the soffing. But that's all I got
- 55:19Speaker 1: for today, guys. All right, thanks Patty. Yeah, I think
- 55:23Speaker 1: they need additions on the offensive line, not just to
- 55:26Speaker 1: get coached out, Yeah, they need better players. Yeah. Uh.
- 55:31Speaker 1: And then who's going to do the coaching anyway? You know,
- 55:34Speaker 1: that's the other question. He Drian Clem okay Um, Marks
- 55:40Speaker 1: and Bolton. Maybe he'll quit for his next job like
- 55:42Speaker 1: I don't on a week fourteen, what's up Mark? Hey, guys, well,
- 55:47Speaker 1: I'm three days out of the hospital after a six
- 55:49Speaker 1: hour ab Donald Sergey, I'm st the influencer. You might
- 55:52Speaker 1: have to bear with me, but okay, that's the best
- 55:54Speaker 1: way to call the show appreciate it would we were
- 55:57Speaker 1: on speed dial. I never thought of it that way,
- 56:00Speaker 1: but it's going pretty good in that one. That way. Well,
- 56:04Speaker 1: I'm glad that Bob is finally going my suggestion to
- 56:08Speaker 1: keep Gerard as the assistant head coach. But I'm thrilled
- 56:11Speaker 1: with the Billy o' hire. Um. I think we just
- 56:15Speaker 1: started to touch on some stuff of what he brings
- 56:17Speaker 1: to along with him. I love to see Doug Marone
- 56:19Speaker 1: come in the offense, Clem. I never loved him when
- 56:22Speaker 1: he was here. I just didn't think he was a
- 56:24Speaker 1: real effort guy. But I mean think things can change.
- 56:28Speaker 1: John Jefferson for the receivers in the passing game sounds
- 56:33Speaker 1: like a real win for me. I mean, I just
- 56:36Speaker 1: I really love that guy, and I just think he
- 56:40Speaker 1: brings some some new for new perspectives. I hear what
- 56:42Speaker 1: you're saying, Mark, but like whether it's Sean Jefferson and
- 56:46Speaker 1: receivers or Asian, I have no idea, Like I don't
- 56:49Speaker 1: know how they are as coach. Sean Jefferson's resume is
- 56:52Speaker 1: decent though. Yeah, I mean he was associate head coach
- 56:54Speaker 1: at the Cardinals. He had to do something. I guess like,
- 57:00Speaker 1: but coach Calvin Johnson will maybe they'll be good associate
- 57:04Speaker 1: head coach at Oregon, although a lot of people say
- 57:06Speaker 1: he didn't do a great job with immense immensely talented lining.
- 57:11Speaker 1: I mean, I love Brown, but you know, I just
- 57:14Speaker 1: didn't see Taykwon Thornton, especially post injury. Uh. He just
- 57:19Speaker 1: he regressed from what I saw from training camp. But
- 57:22Speaker 1: I know I was. I was the guy that wanted to,
- 57:26Speaker 1: you know, Perkins, uh, you know, to track back and
- 57:28Speaker 1: get him the end of the first round last year.
- 57:30Speaker 1: And I still think that Thorn does have some upside
- 57:35Speaker 1: um that he better. You know, he's if they get
- 57:38Speaker 1: him another ten pounds and and some coaching and some
- 57:41Speaker 1: film and some route running skills. But I think he'm
- 57:48Speaker 1: I'm thanks Mark, I'm not sure I'm interested in putting
- 57:51Speaker 1: weight on Thornton. It would just be so hard for
- 57:56Speaker 1: would it be worth it for how hard it would be?
- 57:58Speaker 1: Would it slow him down? Yeah? I just his frame
- 58:00Speaker 1: is so you seed a lot with those basket I
- 58:03Speaker 1: just want to see him get open. But that's like
- 58:06Speaker 1: and catch the ball. That's back to my initial rant
- 58:09Speaker 1: on this whole thing is Taekwon Thornton was was at
- 58:14Speaker 1: that spot, and I know people say, oh, people were
- 58:16Speaker 1: going to pick him and they were gonna trade up
- 58:18Speaker 1: for him and whatnot. I'm sorry that was not a
- 58:20Speaker 1: consensus pick at fiftieth overall, it wasn't okay. He wasn't
- 58:25Speaker 1: like that. Picks didn't like to pick at the time.
- 58:28Speaker 1: Didn't like to pick now because that is a guy
- 58:31Speaker 1: that is everything that you always to learn about scouting
- 58:36Speaker 1: and about receiver evaluation. You pick the guy that ran
- 58:39Speaker 1: the fastest forty like, that's the homework that you did.
- 58:41Speaker 1: Was that Evan's going to I can't in all seriousness,
- 58:47Speaker 1: that's why. Yeah, yeah, because I like, I like to
- 58:50Speaker 1: tease you, and you know I'm only teasing you. I'm
- 58:52Speaker 1: not being serious. But I like to find out what
- 58:53Speaker 1: people think before, right. Yeah. I don't like if I
- 58:56Speaker 1: don't need to know what you think. Once the Patriots
- 58:58Speaker 1: decided that they draft sign play somebody, Yeah, I want
- 59:02Speaker 1: to know what you think of the somebody before that.
- 59:04Speaker 1: I am I am prone or I am I am
- 59:07Speaker 1: One mistake I always have is once they picked the guy,
- 59:10Speaker 1: I talk myself into it because he's he's here, right,
- 59:13Speaker 1: So what am I going to do. But if you
- 59:16Speaker 1: I mean, look, I have it on paper from what
- 59:19Speaker 1: my rankings were last year, a wide receiver, and he
- 59:21Speaker 1: was at the bottom of my outside receiver wishless because
- 59:24Speaker 1: I knew at the time this is a guy that
- 59:27Speaker 1: runs fast, that's all he can do. I look at
- 59:29Speaker 1: a guy like Jalen Hyatt from Tennessee this year in
- 59:31Speaker 1: this class, same exact way. Okay, so great, if we
- 59:34Speaker 1: get you off the line of scrimmage and you actually
- 59:37Speaker 1: get opened up and then you can actually run by somebody. Cool,
- 59:40Speaker 1: But what do you do for me on the other
- 59:42Speaker 1: ninety five percent of the downs? Right? I can only
- 59:44Speaker 1: do that particular guy is the second best receiver on
- 59:46Speaker 1: his own team. Yeah, dude, Jala, Yeah, I liked tell
- 59:50Speaker 1: him better too. So you look at a lot of
- 59:52Speaker 1: these things going on with Taykwon Thornton, I'm not surprised
- 59:56Speaker 1: at at all and going into that draft at that spot. Now, look,
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: Skymore didn't have a great rookie year for Kansas City.
- 1:00:02Speaker 1: I have numbers for you, yeah on that, because those
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: I think that that was the key to the early
- 1:00:07Speaker 1: day two of the draft was the Patriots took Thornton
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: and then they had three receivers taken in close succession
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: right after Okay. Two of the three Blue taekwon Thornton away.
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: Pickens had fifty two catches for eight hundred and one
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: yards fifteen point four average, four touchdowns. Fred's guy, Fred
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: liked Alec Pierce forty one catches five ninety three fourteen
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: and a half, two touchdowns. Skymore was a gadget player
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: for Kansas City, only had twenty two catches for two fifties,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: so basically the same year that Thornton did. Now, I
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: would say, in far less opportunities than Thornton had twenty
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: two for two forty seven eleven point two the lowest
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: average per carry of those four guys. Taekwon Thornton the
- 1:00:49Speaker 1: speedster and two touchdowns, So Pickens and Pierce basically doubled him.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: And he was on par with Moore, who was basically,
- 1:01:00Speaker 1: we're gonna hand it to you, We're gonna use you
- 1:01:02Speaker 1: as a part returner, we're gonna try to you're gonna
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: fill in from me Cole Hardman a little bit when
- 1:01:06Speaker 1: Hardman's out, but he never really had a role in
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: Kansas City's offense. Yeah, I mean this year the equivalent
- 1:01:12Speaker 1: is I just watched this this guy Tank Dell from
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: Houston yesterday. It's like Houston's Jakobe Myers, right, and he's
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: a good route runner, he can get open, he's explosive guy.
- 1:01:23Speaker 1: He took over from Marcus Jones on returns when Marcus
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: Jones went to the NFL. But the brand name of
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: Tank Dell is A Flowers from BC. So when they're
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: sitting there in the second round, and let's say they
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: decide to go receiver again in the second round, going
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: based off of what they did last year, they would
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: take Tank Dell, right, they would take the guy that
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: every everybody says turn right, they turn left. But let's
- 1:01:46Speaker 1: see what kind of career is A Flowers. You know,
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: it's the same thing with Pierce or with Perkins and Pickens.
- 1:01:52Speaker 1: I keep saying because he said Perkins Pickens in Pittsburgh.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: It's the same thing where the pick there for everybody

- 1:10:39Speaker 1: now great moments in history, they are two separate. This
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: person's concerned about the positionless coaching, right, and I'm saying
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: that's not what it is. It's not positionless coaching. But
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: that's what he's concerned about. Okay, But I just I
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: should have alleviated your concerns by explaining that. Joe Judge
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: told us last week he's working with the quarter he did.
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: Matt Patricia told us last week he's working with the
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: offensive line. Nick Kayley told us he's working with the
- 1:11:04Speaker 1: tight ends. There's no position list worries for anybody. There are,
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: you shouldn't have them. But I'm trying to allay the
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: fears of the email because all the coaches told you
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: what they're going to be doing, but no one told
- 1:11:15Speaker 1: you who's calling plays. There's a lot of writers who
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: took it the other way and mentioned Steve Belichick and
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: Cam Accord and said, why aren't they? Why aren't they
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: telling us the coordinator is the concern? Why aren't they? Okay,
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: but I'm just saying what some writers said, Why aren't
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: they telling these coaches what they're doing? Right your show?
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: Why calling plays? Yes, that's not just calling plays. Well,
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: that's the only thing that is unknown, Fred is who
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: is calling the plays on both sides? Okay, but I'm
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: telling you that it went further. Okay, in your opinion,
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: it didn't. I listened to the shows. You make fun
- 1:11:50Speaker 1: of me all the time for listening to my shows.
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: I listened to them. Okay. They can't believe that Joe
- 1:11:55Speaker 1: Judge and Matt Patricia are in charge of Matt Jones's
- 1:11:58Speaker 1: all important too. That is true, true, that's the concern
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: that is true for them. But I will also show
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: you other people who wrote about why aren't they telling you? Know?
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: This is why are they doing this? In the end, right,
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: why are they why are they not telling who's calling
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: the place? That the rest of it they told you. Okay,
- 1:12:15Speaker 1: when I show it to you, then you can read it.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: These people were Mike, can you please back? I think
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: you're both saying the same thing. No. No, that's another
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: great moment from and I subsequently showed Paul all the
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: things that people were saying. No he didn't, Yes I did.
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: He showed me people wondering how what was going to complish?
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: You show me your world. We need to do that
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: more often, Freddie, we haven't had one of those in
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: a bit, Hardy, What was that? Why don't you say something?
- 1:12:46Speaker 1: Why why did that just go away? I didn't sens
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: a button, say something fred like? Oh somebody hung up?
- 1:12:51Speaker 1: Say something fredlike. So we can have another one of
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: those arguments. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I tried to get to
- 1:13:00Speaker 1: going today, but you yeah, you don't take the bay well,
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: because what are you gonna say? Like Cincinnati was so
- 1:13:05Speaker 1: thoroughly dominant in that game, Like like if if I
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: in fact was the Bills apologist that you think I am. Yes,
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: what am I gonna say to defend the Bills performance
- 1:13:15Speaker 1: in that game? That that's not what I was looking for.
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: Oh okay, what I was looking for. Is you going
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: on a rant about Patriots fans reveling in their loss?
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: Oh I don't did that in fact happen? Oh of course,
- 1:13:27Speaker 1: are you kidding me? I'm still reveling in the loss.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: They were like obvious because you're a Patriots. They were
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: like cartoons, And there were cartoons on Twitter, like you know, Patriots, Patriots, Dolphins,
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: and Jets all with at least one trophy, and Bills
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: over here with none and all kinds of stuff like that. Oh,
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: I would have given you what you wanted. I had known.
- 1:13:49Speaker 1: I did find I was rooting next time, tell me
- 1:13:50Speaker 1: what you want, I'll give it to Yeah. I was
- 1:13:52Speaker 1: rooting for Cinci, not actively, but I just found I
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: was kind I found myself more rooting for Cincinnati in
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: the game. I just think Buffalo was completely done. I
- 1:14:00Speaker 1: don't think they're a threat. I think they're out of
- 1:14:01Speaker 1: gas ever again hopefully, Well that I mean, if you okay,
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: I'll give you what you want. Might just open the door.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: I'll give you what you want. Now, I'll play. I'll
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: play the team that was so thoroughly outclassed by Cincinnati
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: beat you four times in a row by at least
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: twelve points. Yeah, okay, and we were fumble away from
- 1:14:23Speaker 1: being beating Cincinnati. You could feel really great being that
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: far away from Francidive property, that far away from hip.
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: We were on the playoff game. You weren't. We were
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: fumble away from beating Cincinnati. No, you were fumble away
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: from taking the league. The thing with Buffalo For me,
- 1:14:41Speaker 1: my fandom, it was over a minute left. The patrons
- 1:14:44Speaker 1: got the ball back after the fumble, Yes doing it, Yes,
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: after the fumble, they got the ball back. Now done.
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: We hadn't fumble, they would have run more time off
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: the clock, and we would have won the game, because
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: you've gone in the end zone in the game would
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: have been over. Just sitting in the hotel with my
- 1:14:59Speaker 1: soul man. If he hadn't fumbled, it would have been
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: second and goal from the seven. Yeah, with how much
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: time for the worst red zone offense in football? Okay,
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: So if he hadn't fumbled, he had a touchdown. Anyone
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: that watched that game were going I think they were
- 1:15:14Speaker 1: going in, and I don't think the game would have
- 1:15:16Speaker 1: been over had they gone in. Okay, okay, but we
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: were that close. I mean, come on, that's pretty good, right.
- 1:15:22Speaker 1: Were you that close to Cincinnati that day? Yes? Okay,
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: I wish I could. I only hope that the coaching
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: staff doesn't agree with you, otherwise we're just going to
- 1:15:31Speaker 1: be in this spiral of mediocrity for years to come.
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: But that's because they weren't close to Cincinnati that day
- 1:15:37Speaker 1: that the scoreboard ended up being close. They weren't close
- 1:15:40Speaker 1: in terms of personnel, no, but in terms of team
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: playing football, we were close. No, you weren't. You got
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: doubled up in yards and everything else. The turnovers completely
- 1:15:50Speaker 1: changed the game. We found a way, We found a
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: way almost Yeah, we found to say the deuce, you
- 1:15:56Speaker 1: could be Sea, this would be this would be an
- 1:15:59Speaker 1: appropriate time for Mike do so, almost sneaky negativity in
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: the game. We found a way to almost have a chance, Yeah,
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: to be competitive, having a good team at home on
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: Christmas Eve, fight having a lot less talent, we were competitive.
- 1:16:14Speaker 1: You were completely doubled up. And what do you guys
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: think of Patrick Mahomes and and just you know, playing
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: through the injury. That was you know what, huh, I'll
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: tie you. You know what, I didn't see, no, Paul,
- 1:16:28Speaker 1: I didn't see someone helping Patrick Mahomes down the stairs
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: crying his eyes out with with a similarly sprained ankle.
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: He's gonna play, I mean, my gamer, I didn't see
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: Tony Poler do that and he broke his leg. I can't,
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: I can't. I can't see Kansas City pulling this one out.
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: I mean, you know they playing anywhere now? Is he
- 1:16:50Speaker 1: going to be able to do anything other than just
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: kind of sit in the pocket and and try not
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: to get hit. That'll be the next one Patriots. Okay,
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: you're what, You're right, Fred, I'm gonna give you what
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: you want. That'll be the next one when when Kansas
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: City loses. Yeah, what happened to Mahomes is dynasty five
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: in a row. I won't you'd call me when you
- 1:17:09Speaker 1: get to like eight n That was the exact tweet
- 1:17:12Speaker 1: of mine. Actually, you're just doing the pan and I
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: don't like that, but I listen. I want to defend
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: Mac a little bit, okay, because I think we should
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: thank them because after after that injury, we were told
- 1:17:24Speaker 1: there are different grades of high high ankle sprays. I
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: don't know what grade Mac has and I don't know
- 1:17:30Speaker 1: what grade Mahomes had, but I am told if you
- 1:17:34Speaker 1: have the worst grade, you ain't playing the next week. Oh,
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: I don't think there's any chance that Mahomes will be
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: playing in a regular season game. Well, I'm just saying
- 1:17:42Speaker 1: that you can't play even if you wanted to play.
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: So maybe his wasn't as hurt hurt as bad as
- 1:17:48Speaker 1: I'm just talking about the reaction coming off I'm not.
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: I don't blame Mac Jones form missing games regular season games.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: Absolutely probably should have missed another one. I mean, in
- 1:17:56Speaker 1: all in all honesty, I mean you probably should have missed.
- 1:17:59Speaker 1: There's a chance that Mahomes's injury wasn't as severe as max.
- 1:18:04Speaker 1: Is there a chance? I have to say yes, because
- 1:18:07Speaker 1: I have no idea, right, my guess is the same,
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: But I don't. I don't know it's a high ankle sprain.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: I just I think regular season guys wouldn't play. Gronk
- 1:18:18Speaker 1: played in the Super Bowl with it like he couldn't move.
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: But you know, in the playoffs and the Super Bowls,
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: you do it. You could just see it couldn't. You
- 1:18:24Speaker 1: can't push off your toe. You know, it's like he's
- 1:18:26Speaker 1: in a ski boot, like and you're just on your
- 1:18:28Speaker 1: He was, he was throwing the ball off of one foot,
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: but not on purpose like sometimes he does that on purpose.
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: He was like, I know a lot of time like
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: if that was Ben Roethlisberger, everybody would have been up
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: in arms like this drama queen. That that was no
- 1:18:44Speaker 1: drama queen with mahomes on on set, like he couldn't.
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: To Evan's point, he couldn't intentionally throw the ball normally.
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: The foot wouldn't let him do it. Every time he
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: put that pet lake. And then when he thought it
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: was getting better within the game, like he'd have to
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: do something and he met was hobbled again. You know.
- 1:19:01Speaker 1: But I think going into a game knowing that he
- 1:19:04Speaker 1: can't run, I think changes the whole absolutely. Especially Cincinnati
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: is just in fuego right now. I mean they're they're
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: you're going right at him right awhile they'll come after him.
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: Blitzes too, and a room Mike Hilton hold back. A
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: couple of those Mike Hilton blitzes against Buffalo that were
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: like I're gonna get there you know, you could just
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: see Mike Hilton played like the guy that Eli Apple
- 1:19:23Speaker 1: evidently thinks he is. Mike Hilton was awesome in that camp.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: So when was he undrafted? Guy? Here for what? Just
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: the training camp or something? I thought he was on
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: the practice squad? Was he not? Didn't we sign him
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: to the practice squad at one point? I don't know exactly.
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: Now on Thursday, Evan and Mike, you'll be off to
- 1:19:40Speaker 1: Vegas early on. Oh you're not leaving right away? No, no,
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: I'm not. I'm here so yea, So we'll do our
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: We'll do our picks on Thursday. Yeah, yeah, that'll be good. Um,
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: all right, even this Thursday, yes, yea early back to
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: the phones. Todd's in North Carolina. What's up to tell
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: you had a perfect week? Then? Oh? I know he
- 1:19:59Speaker 1: knows we got our which but I think we might
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: have a sneaky need that nobody has really thought about talents.
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: Romandre just seemed to be at a gas at the
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: end of the year. He seemed to be dropping the football.
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: He seemed to be a little out of swords. And
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: I don't think we're gonna keep Damien Harris. So what
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: do we got for running back because we didn't really
- 1:20:15Speaker 1: see the young guys. Did anybody else think that that
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: might be a need that we have to address? Well,
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: it depends on when you think of Kevin Harris and
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: Pierre Strong, and that's why they're here. I would hope
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: that you draft guys like that because you had Damian
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: Harris entering his free agent year, and right that was
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: That's the whole cell. Job of the entire pick is
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: we added Damian Harris is on a contract year, and
- 1:20:37Speaker 1: Romandre and this and that like that's that was their
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: whole cell of drafting two running backs on Day three.
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: It was for this exact situation. Yeah, So how do
- 1:20:45Speaker 1: you feel about them? Evan? I think Pierre Strong showed
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: me some things. I think Kevin Harris ran hard and
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: some people like that that type of running style. But
- 1:20:54Speaker 1: I thought every opportunity that they got Pierre Strong into
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: some space, he showed some things against the Cardinals, had
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: ad run against the Raiders or where he made a
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: nice cut and got himself into some free space. So
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: I like the speed, I like what he can bring
- 1:21:07Speaker 1: to the table. But running backs, I mean, we see
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: it all. I say a Pacho for Kansas City was
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: a six or seventh round pick, like, you should be
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: able to find these guys their diamond doesn't. And if
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: you're the Patriots and Pierre Strong and he took in
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: the fourth round ends up not being able to step
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: into a Damien Harris spell back type of role for
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: Mndre Stevenson next year, it's a bad pick. Yeah, any
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: time on company time, mister Parillo, he's you know, he's
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: putting down at the teaching. You know, do that on
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: your own time. Already, Well done, Wow, well done? Well
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: I mean they I mean, just look at what they did,
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: tadd I mean they drafted two guys a year ahead
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: of when. This is what they used to do in
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: the draft exactly. You draft the guys before you need them.
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: That's why Mike and I were sort of perplexed that
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: there were no corners drafted, no tackles draft last year. Yeah,
- 1:21:58Speaker 1: you know until late Yeah, because they're gonna need those
- 1:22:00Speaker 1: for sure. Anyway, all right, thanks Todd, appreciate it. Let's
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: go to a Shan in Baltimore. What's up for Sean? Hey?
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: What's up? What's up? Hey? Um? For I have to say,
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie I enjoy the Bills losing like that.
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: You know, I enjoy I enjoy all the antics. I
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: enjoy all of it. You know me too, for me
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: as you know, just just for me as a Patriots fan,
- 1:22:25Speaker 1: that's it. But um as, but for the Patriots, I
- 1:22:29Speaker 1: don't you know, I'm not worried about running back me.
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: I'm worried about like you said, I'm worried about talent,
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: like I'm worried about more wide receiver. I'm worried about
- 1:22:39Speaker 1: a left tackle, a right tackle, a corner like that's
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: the sneaky need talent. We we even need a kicker
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: in the punning. Yeah, don't tell Bill that I'll take
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: one in the second round. Yeah, right now, it's all true. Yeah,
- 1:22:57Speaker 1: I'm I'm I'm happy. I'm happy about the the Bill O'Brien,
- 1:23:01Speaker 1: but I feel like it's got to be more to come.
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: Like I see all these rumors, you know, I just
- 1:23:07Speaker 1: saw something about Aaron Rodgers and a jet So I'm
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: you know, I'm feeling like this off season might be
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: crazy like last year, but we have to make we
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: have to make moves that's good for the that's benefitial
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: for the future. Like I'm thinking, uh, the y after that, Like,
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: I'm looking forward to us signing Tee Higgins, like we
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: like we like we should be taking steps to to
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: be back to where we were, because I mean, everything
- 1:23:36Speaker 1: is right there, all right, I hear you're brashod you know.
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: I mean, the needs are clear. The needs are clear,
- 1:23:44Speaker 1: and that's part of the problem is they're so I mean,
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: I mean it's debatable, but I mean, yeah, but do
- 1:23:52Speaker 1: you think Bill will change? Like, because Bill has been
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: sort of reluctant to spend that kind of money on
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: certain positions, do you think Bill will change that? I
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: can specifically wide receiver, Like, if he can get a
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: guy on his terms, he's gonna make a deal for
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: Randy Moss or like Brandon Cooks and then when they
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: become you know, untenable, they go. But he's not gonna
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: go get Randy Moss. That the Raiders deal like T
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: Higgins next year, assuming he doesn't get a catastrophic injury,
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: is gonna be millions. Yes, he's gonna be another one
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: of these A. J. Brown types that's gonna get a
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: megaant contract. Does that strike you as a Bill Moove? No,
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: that's why I want to trade for him. But the
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: games has changed, like the game has changed, I know,
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: but do you think he has? I don't know and that,
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: but this is my biggest gripe with him right now
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: is that you have to look at the landscape and
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: you have to recognize that. Just look at the four
- 1:24:45Speaker 1: teams that are left in the playoffs and look at
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: the weapons that they have on offense. This we're not
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: in a time of age anymore in the NFL where
- 1:24:54Speaker 1: guys like you know, the David Gibbins and the Patents
- 1:24:58Speaker 1: and the Branches and like those guys not going to
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: get you into the super Bowl or into a championship anymore.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: They just aren't well unless you have like the truly elite,
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: like you know what, like Mahomes is doing. Mahomes has
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: basically that with Kelsey, right, But the Patriots don't have
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: anybody in Kelsey's ballpark, no, so, and they don't have
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: anybody obviously, right few teams do. Zack and Zummerville writes
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: in with Bill O'Brien being hired, do you think it
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: makes it any more probable to trade for Judy if
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: he's available? I know Judy was never connected to a
- 1:25:32Speaker 1: Brian directly, but I would have to imagine having a
- 1:25:35Speaker 1: top wide receiver option quarterback in OC all with similar
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: experience at Bama has to be interesting at least. Also,
- 1:25:43Speaker 1: after hearing that Mayo was included in the OC search,
- 1:25:46Speaker 1: it is fair to assume he will also have more
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: of a voice when evaluating free agents and draft prospects
- 1:25:52Speaker 1: this offseason. Or is it fair to assume that he'll
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: have a voice in those things. That's a good question.
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: I'm not I'm not really sure. I didn't really think
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: of that, but yeah, yeah, O'Brien, would Gerard have him
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: put on drafted? I mean, we don't even know what
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: he is yet. I mean you need to hear if
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: he actually has a title change or anything. Yeah, I
- 1:26:11Speaker 1: mean I'm intrigued by it, like everybody else. If he was,
- 1:26:14Speaker 1: you know, in on the offensive coordinator interviews, Okay, he
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: liked Bill O'Brien, He's like, well, pretty easy. I don't
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: know if that was ceremonial, Like we kind of joked
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: around about that. I think Evan brought it up, like
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: we should talk to Danton, like, what exactly is this
- 1:26:30Speaker 1: a head coach do? Yeah, you know, I don't know, right,
- 1:26:33Speaker 1: assist probably varies team by team that have him. Tony
- 1:26:37Speaker 1: says number one, Billy O'Brien needs talent. He had it
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: in Alabama, he had it in his previous stint here.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: He doesn't have it here now. And two last weekend
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: is a stark reminder of this, since he lost three
- 1:26:50Speaker 1: starters in the old line, and the old line was stellar.
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: Each of the teams last week and have what the
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: Patriots lack talent in depth and a young quarterback needs
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: wide receiver talent. The best wide receiver on the Patriots
- 1:27:02Speaker 1: is a number three or four. In one of the
- 1:27:04Speaker 1: team's last Sunday Yeah, I mean, I've seen some people
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: speculating like that the Bills could have used somebody like
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: Jacoby Myers, and I don't. I don't totally, you know,
- 1:27:14Speaker 1: disagree with that kind of sentiment of somebody who, you know,
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: it's just kind of reliable and gets open, that kind
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: of guy. I think, like you missing the T Higgins guy. No,
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: I think that they were fine in the middle of
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: the field. It was outside, it was just digs and
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: there was nobody else. And I I'm with everybody else.
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: I thought Gabe Davis, based on the postseason he had
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: last year, would be like that eighty catch twelve hundred
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: yard guy this year, and he just never really at
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: least doubled touchdowns with his his size and red zone acumen,
- 1:27:44Speaker 1: but just didn't didn't work out. Jack and Annaba. Cincinnati's
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: the sizeive victory of the Bills and Saturday demonstrates conclusively
- 1:27:52Speaker 1: that the way to beat the Bills is with a
- 1:27:54Speaker 1: dominant offensive line that powers a consistent running game. That
- 1:27:58Speaker 1: game should try to lay, boy, That game should lay rest,
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: once and for all any further questions whether the Patriots
- 1:28:04Speaker 1: should prioritize the acquisition of elite receivers over the acquisition
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: of offensive tackles this offseason. Okay, so, yes, Burrow is
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: a better quarterback than Mac Jones. But the Bengals cannot
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: beat the Bills because of Burrow's arm heroics. Okay, they
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: beat the Bills because their offensive line took over the game.
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: Can I just counter yeah? Okay, okay, so when do
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: you think the game was won? First quarter? Okay, so
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: here's what they did in the first half. Okay, the
- 1:28:34Speaker 1: Bills ran the ball in the first half ten times.
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: The Bengals ran it twelve times. Okay, Now the Bengals
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: ran it more effectively. Okay, they ran for sixty nine
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: yards and the Bills only had twenty seven. Okay, the
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: difference was Joe Burrow through for one hundred and eighty
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: six yards and two touchdowns, and said first half, well,
- 1:28:57Speaker 1: Josh Allen through for one hundred and eleven yards and
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: no touchdowns, and it was seventeen seven when you had
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: that two score lead. In the second half, that's when
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: they ended the game just by running the ball and
- 1:29:09Speaker 1: taking Buffalo's will away from them. The game was won
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: by Joe Burrow in that vast array of weapons that
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: he has to throw to in the first half. Did
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: they run the ball, well, yeah they did, but it
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: wouldn't have worked if they couldn't throw the ball the
- 1:29:23Speaker 1: way they did. Now, what I didn't understand by by
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: what Buffalo did was how many passes did they throw?
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: Like quick, little like nothing there. We're just gonna swing
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: it out to mixing nine yards. We're gonna run a
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: little hitch to chase seven yards. No one around him.
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: They're just running running free. Now, part of that is
- 1:29:44Speaker 1: because all the guys weren't there, you know, all their
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: secondary guys. You know, they had no hide. They lost
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: player Tradavious White is not back from his acl He's
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: just an average guy right now. They were missing some pieces.
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: I mean, I know this is crashed to say, but
- 1:30:01Speaker 1: they were also missing Hamlin. I know you can't say
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: that because you're insensitive if you talk about it in
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: anytime kind of football parlance. But they were missing a
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: lot of pieces in the secondary and got absolutely undressed
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: to Evans point with two defensive coach. How many times
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: does someone have to tell you, I can't believe Leslie
- 1:30:21Speaker 1: Frasier's not up for one of these head coaching jobs.
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: Well maybe if you a defense shows up in the
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: playoffs once, you'll get one of the head coaching jobs. Well,
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: this is you asked me earlier if I root against
- 1:30:32Speaker 1: the Bills because I'm a Patriots fan. This is why
- 1:30:34Speaker 1: I root against the Bills is because everybody has crowned
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: the Bills as this juggernaut of a football team. I
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: remember back in September when you guys all laughed at
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: me because everybody was saying they were going to go
- 1:30:44Speaker 1: seventeen to OZ and here we are. They didn't even
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: make it to the championship game. This is the problem
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: that gets people frustrated with the conversation around Buffalo. Why
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: isn't Leslie Frasier head coaching candidate? Wells defense got blown
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: off the field in two straight playoff games. Okay, so,
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: how how great really is he? How great is Josh Allen? Well,
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: he can't go toe to toe with Joe Burrow and
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: he loses to Patrick Mahomes the week before. But everything
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: next year we'll hear the same thing. Oh here comes
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: Josh Allen, Right, I just I understand that he's had
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: a lot of success against you recently, especially especially Alan,
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: But the what have they won? They have? I haven't
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: won a championship, but I think that those two championship,
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: those two things are not the same. They haven't won
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: a You're saying, and I'm not saying because they haven't
- 1:31:30Speaker 1: won a title. You're saying, No, he's saying, you're not
- 1:31:34Speaker 1: as good as the hype, right right? Not as good
- 1:31:36Speaker 1: as hype? Every Yes, yes, so where's the hype? What's
- 1:31:41Speaker 1: the hype? The hype is everybody picking them as their
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: super Bowl team going into the season. Okay, so why
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: but why is that? Like? Okay, so we can't possibly
- 1:31:52Speaker 1: they've been picking a team like the Chargers to win
- 1:31:56Speaker 1: the title and they can't even get to the playoffs
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: on a consistent basis. That's hype. When you pick a
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: team to go to the Super Bowl and they lose
- 1:32:03Speaker 1: an AFC championship game and then the divisional round, and
- 1:32:06Speaker 1: then you know that that's not like, Oh wow, what
- 1:32:09Speaker 1: an idiot you are? You think Buffalo is good. I
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: never said Buffalo was bad. First of all, Buffalo went
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: thirteen and three and face a lot of adversity this
- 1:32:16Speaker 1: season of adverse, see what I mean, Like it's it's
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: mocked and scoffed at. If the Patriots at cornerback in
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: a regular season game and win, they write stories about
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: it later. If they're long snapper cuts his hand in
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: the buffet line before the Super Bowl, we get a
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: book about it afterwards. Well, Brian Kitchen, Yeah, it just
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: it comes back to the fact that I think that
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: there's a lot of conversation, especially around Josh Allen, that
- 1:32:45Speaker 1: he is this inflappable quarterback, this this perfect specimen of
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: a quarterback, when in reality he almost lost them the
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: game against Miami and the wildcard round, and then he
- 1:32:56Speaker 1: probably did lose them the game against Cincinnati this week.
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: So he is not played well now for about a month,
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: and Benjamin Solak for The Ringer wrote a really good
- 1:33:06Speaker 1: piece of about this where he had to hedge it
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: seventeen different times. I'm not saying he's bad. I'm not
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: saying he's bad. Don't worry about it because Bill's mafia
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: is gonna come and kill him, which the guy right
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: Solac for the for the Ringer. Hey, did he grow
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: up Philly? I believe Philly? Is he like Connor or No?
- 1:33:24Speaker 1: He grew up in Philly. Anyways, I he writes this
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: because he knows that Bill's mafia is gonna come for him,
- 1:33:30Speaker 1: because he dared to say that Josh Allen turned the
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: ball over four times trying to play hero ball against Miami,
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: and god forbid we actually point out the fact that
- 1:33:39Speaker 1: he's got some flaws in his game. I just it's
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: the same thing over and over again with fifty two
- 1:33:45Speaker 1: and three touchdowns. But you know, I'll tell you what
- 1:33:48Speaker 1: thirty four that killed during that game is Tony Romo
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: got killed? Can I just tell you, Like not having
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: a chance to watch him everyward because the Patriots are
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: always playing in those games, he's I don't know, I
- 1:34:01Speaker 1: have no idea how he ever, Yeah, got to this status.
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: I think he used to be good. He's gotten worse.
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: I don't even think he pays attention with There was
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: one line he had that everyone killed him. That was
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: a perfect pass, just a little well Paul and I
- 1:34:16Speaker 1: talked about, and that was a Josh Allen pass by
- 1:34:18Speaker 1: the way. Yeah, well that's what they were showing him about.
- 1:34:20Speaker 1: Got to watch Greg Olsen now, now it makes sense
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: black comparison. I really enjoyed listening to him. I thought
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: he was, you know, really insightful in does his little
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: burnt bit and gets out and I mean I was
- 1:34:30Speaker 1: seeing reports on Romo that he's just kind of mailing
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: it in now. But it's a lot of every three plays.
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: And then I feel bad for Greg Olsen because he's
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: gonna get as for Brady, So he's going to be
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: a demand guy. I think, you know, I think he's
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: a he's somebody that you think Olsen's gonna get asks?
- 1:34:48Speaker 1: Is he gonna be the Fox guy? One he's going
- 1:34:50Speaker 1: to be, But he was gonna be the Fox guy
- 1:34:53Speaker 1: for three hundred and whatever million. Brady Brady will Olson
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: will be the B team now and Brady will be
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: the A team. Yeah, how do they know Brady's going
- 1:35:01Speaker 1: to be any good at that? You know they paid
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: him that kind of money either, right, No, maybe he'll
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: be first. He didn't make them. He didn't make the
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: big money right away. He got hot and then they
- 1:35:13Speaker 1: gave him the big contract. But he was their number
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: one guy sight unseen Jim Nance. Yeah, yeah, but him
- 1:35:18Speaker 1: and Jim were covering the Patriots every week when the
- 1:35:21Speaker 1: Patriots were at their hike, Like that's you can mail
- 1:35:23Speaker 1: it and it's so easy. You're covering the same team
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: almost every week. And I don't know. Yeah, can Josh
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: Allen win one thing before we annoint him? I'm saying
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: that you have to think he's the best quarterback in
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: football or anything like that. But like there's win one,
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: Like he's a individuals no one. I'm with Evans. There's
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: too many people that have everybody. They too many people
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: that have the bills as there Darling, you know, just
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: win one thing when an individual accolade? When when to
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: make the Super Bowl? Like in the AFC East a
- 1:35:56Speaker 1: few times, whoa wow, the Joe Burrow hype. I totally
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: understand the guy made it to the Super Bowl. Last
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: year and all he's a dragon slayer. He goes everybody
- 1:36:04Speaker 1: picks the Bills. He beats the Bills right like it's
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: just good. He's a good player, Okay, and I think
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: Josh Allen's a good player too. Burrow Queen turned out
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: to be the Tom Brady to Peyton Manning and Joe
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: Burrow is that too? Uh? Josh Allen and maybe Mahomes too. Yeah,
- 1:36:22Speaker 1: I would say my Homes more than anybody else. He
- 1:36:25Speaker 1: played Josh Allen once. Yeah, but at least my home.
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: But at you know, he's beating my Homes three times
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: six for Manning to win it, you know, Um, you know,
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: Brady kept beating him and then he finally broke through
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: one O six. They cheated, but they broke through. Um Dallas, Yeah,
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: Rodney Harrison, if but Homes has already won. If Rodney Harrison,
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: which was healthy, he had Dallash Dallash Cluck never get
- 1:36:56Speaker 1: and if they had won that they would have another
- 1:36:58Speaker 1: Super Bowl because they would have beat the Bears. Paul
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: and Drake it first. I can't believe that in less
- 1:37:03Speaker 1: than two weeks we not only have a new offensive coordinator,
- 1:37:06Speaker 1: but that it's Billy O'Brien. The Patriots have picked a
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: person that almost everyone thought would be a good fit
- 1:37:12Speaker 1: and not a coach Bill met one time at a
- 1:37:14Speaker 1: lacrosse game. I'm officially excited now for the offseason and
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: I helpe deuces too. Do you all think the rest
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: of the offense is excited as Mac for Billy Oh
- 1:37:23Speaker 1: to be here? Yeah? Sure, I mean why not? I mean,
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: I think Mac is the forefront of the discomfort with
- 1:37:33Speaker 1: the new system and they involved. But I mean I
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: think everybody, I don't know, I mean, was anybody Nobody
- 1:37:38Speaker 1: was here when he was here last time, right like that,
- 1:37:41Speaker 1: it's all completely turned over. But sure, I don't know
- 1:37:45Speaker 1: why not. I do think there's something to be said
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: for having somebody that like when they when they reported
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: from Minni camping in the spring, where it's like, Okay,
- 1:37:55Speaker 1: this is an offensive coach, and like that first meeting
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: that Bill O'Brien runs where they'll know it right and
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: you kind of will have that feeling and just that's
- 1:38:03Speaker 1: sort of the big picture of takeaway from the higher
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: for me is that confidence of we are going to
- 1:38:09Speaker 1: be put in positions to succeed, We are doing things
- 1:38:12Speaker 1: that are sound, We are doing things that makes sense,
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: and there's not all this questioning and back and forth
- 1:38:18Speaker 1: behind the scenes of what's this guy doing. I gotta
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: call up my college OC and get input from him
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: because we're not getting the coaching here. And Kendrick Boorn
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: coming out after games and saying things that he said
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: last year. I think all of that gets eliminated because
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: here comes a guy that's coached offense for twenty five
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: years at the highest levels and really knows what he's doing.
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: And I think it's like somebody who knows what they
- 1:38:39Speaker 1: want too, and the confidence that comes across with that
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: when you know you get there and it's all right,
- 1:38:44Speaker 1: and you're gonna be here and if they give you this, look,
- 1:38:46Speaker 1: this is what you're gonna do. But if it's this,
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: then you're gonna have to you know, like they know everything,
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: They know all the premutations off of what he's trying
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: to describe to you, whereas and I was never there
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: last year, but I would just get the vibe of,
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: you know, all right, so this is how it's gonna look.
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: Well what if they do this, Uh, well we'll get
- 1:39:03Speaker 1: back to you on that one. You know, like those
- 1:39:04Speaker 1: kind of things where it hasn't been gamed out for
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: them before. It's an experienced guy who knows knows what
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: he's looking for and is and like you said, gonna
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: put guys in position to succeed. Ryan says, I think
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: another annoying example of hype on the bills would be
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: Romo calling Alan mister January. That's funny, mister. Yeah, Romo
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: had some tough lines about Alan and that I think
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: Romo's terrible, So I have nothing to say about him.
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: I think he's a terrible I mean, I don't really
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: listen that much. So for him to say like five
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: things that I remember as being horrifically bad, you know
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: there were probably there was probably a hundred of them
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: because I really don't zone in and out. I don't
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: pay attention to what they're saying. I would say ninety
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: five percent of the time, and he still finds a
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: way to say things like that throw was perfect. It
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: drifted to the others and you catch yourself You're like,
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: did he did he just say that? I do listen.
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: I listen to what they say. You know what to me?
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: You know there are some that are better. You you
- 1:39:56Speaker 1: have to you need someone to tell you what's going on?
- 1:40:00Speaker 1: Oh wow, Wow. I do wonder how much it's in
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: his head because he started that first year he's calling
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: out plays and he's breaking it down from a quarterback,
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: and then they pulled the reins on him and they said, wait,
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: the teams aren't liking this set. You're calling people out
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: and things like that. So maybe maybe that got in
- 1:40:18Speaker 1: his head where now he can't do that and he
- 1:40:20Speaker 1: feels like he has to just dumb it down in
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: a way. But there's got to be a middle ground, right,
- 1:40:25Speaker 1: There's something floating out there on Twitter of a report
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: that he's just he's like asked for, like, hey, give
- 1:40:30Speaker 1: me the cliff notes on the defense, like right before
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: the show before they broadcasted that. It's just like, what
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: was the game? What was the game he did late
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: season meeting? Was it Buffalo? Was it the last game
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: that that was? Was that the first game that he
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: did the late in the seasons? Yeah? Last game? Was it?
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: The last game? Was that like the first game he
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: had done for the Patriots in a while. I believe.
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: I think he did Green Bay early in the year,
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: and I think and he was talking about how good
- 1:40:54Speaker 1: the offense had been trending, like heading into that Buffalo game,
- 1:40:58Speaker 1: like they got the you know, they found an identity,
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: and I was like, he clearly hasn't watched any games. Yeah. Uh,
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: Cody and Indiana Fred mentioned early in the show that
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: they should just go ahead and name Steve Belichick the
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: defensive coordinator. Can they actually do that or would they
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: technically have to have interviews and include a minority candidate.
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: I think they would. That's a good point. Yep, yeah,
- 1:41:21Speaker 1: do you have to do that for an internal promotion? Okay,
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: I think they do. I think I read recently that
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: they do, because that was that came up on another show.
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: It's ridiculous. Um Mark writes in Okay, we have our OC.
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: Now do we need a quarterback? Don't you think we
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: need to bring in some spring competition to at least
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: challenge Mac for the starting position? Or do you just
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: accept he's our guy and who are those quarterbacks? No?
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: I mean, for me this year, I'm just I'm going
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: to kind of accept it. I am curious to see
- 1:41:54Speaker 1: how Zappy looks, not with the always he going to
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: compete with Mac, just to see is the second year guy,
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: did he make any progress? And does he look like,
- 1:42:00Speaker 1: you know, how's he responding to the new offense? But
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: I'm just the point now, is that a realistic guy
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: that you would take, though veteran, No, as a veteran
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: to come in and compete like for what I'm not
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: talking about Tom Brady and Lamar Jackson like I'm but
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: just an intriguing backup perhaps in the middle of their well. No,
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: a guy that you would bring in and say, like, hell,
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: legitimately start for me. And if Mac isn't better than
- 1:42:24Speaker 1: this guy, he won't play Jimmy garoppolo. I mean, that's
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: that's what I was singing. But as is he going
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: to come here and not, you know, to compete? Right?
- 1:42:31Speaker 1: That was? But but I like that sentiment of that.
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: But would you be Let's say that they don't ask
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: him to come here to compete. Let's say that they
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: signed him and they said you're going to start to
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: be a post that? Would you post that? Would I
- 1:42:42Speaker 1: do that? Would you be opposed to it? I like before, Yeah,
- 1:42:49Speaker 1: I don't mind turning the little bit like I like
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: that and I did too. I mind it a little bit.
- 1:42:55Speaker 1: I minded just a little bit. I don't think he's
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: that kind of guy. I don't think he's the type
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: of guy that responds to competition, that responds to that
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: type of thing. I think that that for better or worse,
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: and I understand that some people are going to take
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: that as a for worse type of thing, but for
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: better or worse, I think that the approach with Mac
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: Jones is what Bill gave us coming into the season.
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: He's made a lot of strides. Oh he's done you know,
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: a lot of great things. He's in great shape. He
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: took night and day from the from last year to
- 1:43:29Speaker 1: this year. Because right now, I think the biggest thing
- 1:43:32Speaker 1: for Mac is confidence. And if you're bringing in Jimmy
- 1:43:36Speaker 1: Garoppolo to then compete with him in training camp, I
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: don't necessarily I think that you whisked losing it, especially
- 1:43:41Speaker 1: after you have to hear Zappy chance. That's like the
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: whole thing with why I thought it was a big
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: detriment to the team this year that Bill wouldn't just
- 1:43:50Speaker 1: come out and say that Max our guy is because hurt.
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: I think that he's the type of guy that needs
- 1:43:55Speaker 1: that sort of vote of confidence because if he doesn't
- 1:43:58Speaker 1: have it, then what you're saying, if that's true, then
- 1:44:01Speaker 1: he's not the guy. Well, if he doesn't respond, if
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: he needs that, if he if he doesn't take everything
- 1:44:09Speaker 1: as a chip on his shoulder in motivation and it
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: breaks him, then he's not gonna be the guy under pressure.
- 1:44:16Speaker 1: I think different guys need to be coach different ways.
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: I'm not telling you it's a great sign that he
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: did that, but yeah, I agree with Evan's assessment one
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: thousand percent. I think that bothered him. It bothered Brady
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: too when they write but he motivated him to destroy
- 1:44:33Speaker 1: all the credits whatever he used with motivation for Brady's
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: one of those guys, like he still talks about being
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: drafted in the sixth round thirty years later, right, Like
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: he's just one of those guys that's wired that way.
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: But I never really felt like Brady maybe it maybe
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: towards the end, but like it was Jimmy Garoppolo really
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: a threat to Tom Brady, No really, but he but
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: never look at it as a threat. He looked at
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: it as an insult. It doesn't matter. Like whatever he
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: looks at it works. I think that Tom, I don't
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: think that. I don't know. I don't I was a
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: threat to take over for Brady if he retired, right,
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: that was that was it. I just don't know if
- 1:45:09Speaker 1: that being what mode. I think what motivates Tom Brady
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: is he's a sick oh yeah, all right, and he
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: just wants to win. And I don't think that Tom Brady. Yeah,
- 1:45:19Speaker 1: and that's intangible that we just haven't seen from Mac. Right,
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: All the great ones are are wired that way. I
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: just I agree with everything. Joe Burrow guarantee he's wired
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: like yeah, like you don't need to coddle him. Yeah,
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: I don't know about that. They called him pretty good
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: his rookie year. I was just I just think it's
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: interesting though, and I agree with what you said about Mac,
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: but also just not a guy who's really before this
- 1:45:41Speaker 1: year been a starting quarterback on a team like this
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: is the only time he's really been though. Man, you know,
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: he had to win it at Alabama. He had to
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: win it his rookie year here. So I agree what
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: we said. It's just an interesting kind of like, you know,
- 1:45:51Speaker 1: dichotomy between this kid who has had to work for
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: everything and it's almost always been in competition. But yet
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: I told I agree with the point for better or worse,
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: if they bring Jimmy Garoppolo in for training camp next year,
- 1:46:05Speaker 1: and we're all out there like we are out there
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: every single summer, and Jimmy's out playing him. He's gonna
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: look better, and we all right that Jimmy's out playing him,
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: And all the conversations around the team is that Jimmy's
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: out playing he lost him. Yeah. See, if I have
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: designs on Mac Jones being my future guy, I wouldn't
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: do something like that. Yeah, I'm asking like, would you
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: rather have Garoppolo for I don't know, the next three
- 1:46:27Speaker 1: years and then during that three year span, maybe you
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: can find a guy in the draft. Did you feel
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: good about developed if you were it that way? If
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: if you're saying you're giving up on Mac, he's gone
- 1:46:38Speaker 1: and you're using Garoppolo as a bridge, all right, Yeah,
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: I'm not big on Garoppolo as a bridge because I
- 1:46:45Speaker 1: think the bridge collapses at some point in my week eleven,
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: you know, And you know, I know, I know it sounds,
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: it sounds disrespectful, but but it happens all the time.
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: He gets hurt, yeah, you know, and and got enough
- 1:46:57Speaker 1: of the sample size. Now, Yeah, Anthony writes in he's
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: in Seattle. I'm really disappointed. I thought the Giants would
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: be competitive based on their performance against Minnesota, but they
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: didn't show up at all. I thought Patrick Mahomes performance
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: and the ankle sprain was incredible to watch. I thought
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: Buffalo didn't show up and I cannot ignore Josh Allen's
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: performance or lack of. And the same goes for Dak Prescott.
- 1:47:23Speaker 1: The Cowboys versus forty nine was a good, solid game
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: with no excitement. But if Dak would have shown up
- 1:47:28Speaker 1: he would have been the difference in the game because
- 1:47:31Speaker 1: his defense did their job against a rookie quarterback. Instead,
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: he played at the same level as Purdy, or maybe
- 1:47:37Speaker 1: even a little worse because Purdy put a drive together
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: when his team needed one. I was really excited for
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: the games this past weekend. Was left disappointed. Yeah, I
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: agree all around, it was a disappointing weekend. So happy
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: to see the Cowboys lose. I thought that the wild
- 1:47:52Speaker 1: Carter I thought was going to be like this weekend was.
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: I wasn't looking forward to any really any of the
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: six games and wild card weekend, and it actually turned
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: out to be decent. Yeah, this weekend, I was really
- 1:48:03Speaker 1: looking forward to at least three of the games. I
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: kind of thought the Giants were gonna get rolled the
- 1:48:08Speaker 1: way they did. Um, and then really the games were,
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: you know, for different reasons. The Mahomes injury wrecked that game. Um,
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: you know, the Buffalo No Show wrecked that game. And
- 1:48:20Speaker 1: I agree with his assessment of last game. It was
- 1:48:22Speaker 1: close the whole way, but it wasn't a good game
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: to watch, and you kind of got the feeling the
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: whole way that San Francisco was gonna win like you
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: never really think. And it was because of Dak Dak
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: just the two interceptions were horrific. He's kind of I
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: love Dak. I've been on the record with that. On
- 1:48:37Speaker 1: the record, he doesn't read the field very well. And
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: there's a did you see that clip? Yeah? I know,
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: and then there's a lot of a lot of the
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: Twitter coaches are coming out and well, you slide the
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: protection this way, and he's looking at the blitz and
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: but the point is is that Fred Warner opens to
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: ceedee lamb and nobody opens to tie him. See why, Hilton, Like,
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: if you're reading the drop the mic like it's that
- 1:49:02Speaker 1: he didn't talk about that. I agree. I mean it
- 1:49:04Speaker 1: was pretty odd. Did you see it? No, I didn't. Huh, yeah,
- 1:49:07Speaker 1: I got Arlovsky and sometimes listen, it's a verb. Now
- 1:49:13Speaker 1: what Evan says. So Warner ends up covering CD. What's
- 1:49:16Speaker 1: not really even part of that is a good throw
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: to CD Lamb. It might have been a touchdown. He's
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: behind I mean no kidding, he's behind the linebacker and
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: the throw was like wide in kind of off target.
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: But on the other seam, t White Hilton is uncovered. Well,
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: they ran four verticals against Tampa two, and like in
- 1:49:35Speaker 1: that defense that Mike is running with the seam right
- 1:49:38Speaker 1: that Mike carries the seam vertically up the middle of
- 1:49:40Speaker 1: the field. So if you're the mic goes left, then
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: that and you have a seam going on on both seams,
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: that means that nobody's running with the right seam right
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: like there. There can't you can't have the structure work
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: out any date way Differently, So when Fred Warner falls
- 1:49:56Speaker 1: off the line of scrimmage and goes with Ceedee Lamb
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: in Dak's head, that should be sign link to him.
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: T Y Hilton's got to be open, right. You know,
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: there's less people over here. There's not going to be
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: pressure here because Fred Warner just turned around took off right. Yeah,
- 1:50:13Speaker 1: and that game was was very winnable. I'm not I
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: know you hate Dallas too, fred I, I this is
- 1:50:18Speaker 1: what I share with you. But I just was kind
- 1:50:21Speaker 1: of looking for the intrigue of, you know, can they
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: finally win win an important game? And right it was.
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: It was there. It was winnable. Oh absolutely. They just
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: couldn't make any place. And I even think, did you
- 1:50:32Speaker 1: guys see the kickoff return after the Fluke touchdown the
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: Niners got with that unbelievable catch by Kittle, which you
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: knew ended the game. They almost returned the kick. I
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: know he ran right into Robbie Gold. Yeah. All he
- 1:50:44Speaker 1: had to do was cut outside the block and he's gone. Robbie.
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: All he did was get in the way. Yeah. Uh, Brady,
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: not our Brady. Another one says love the show. Really
- 1:50:54Speaker 1: got into it this year. I hear a lot of
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: people saying that they liked the show when it's live
- 1:50:58Speaker 1: on YouTube. I agree with them, and I one major
- 1:51:01Speaker 1: reason I love the YouTube show, aside from seeing your
- 1:51:03Speaker 1: beautiful faces, it's the ability to rewind and start from
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: the beginning. It allows me to go back and start
- 1:51:08Speaker 1: from the beginning. In case I missed the first twenty
- 1:51:10Speaker 1: thirty minutes of the show. Not sure if this is
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: something you've looked into with the player on Patriots dot com,
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: but it would be an amazing ad to be able
- 1:51:17Speaker 1: to jump back to the beginning of the show from
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: where it's at live on YouTube. That's a YouTube feature
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: because yeah, yeah, it's on their platform. Just listen to
- 1:51:29Speaker 1: the podcast. It's yeah, it's a lie. It's like recording, right,
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: it's live to tape right right there. If you listen
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: to the show normally live, you can't do that. You
- 1:51:40Speaker 1: can't have to wait for it to be like a
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: dr player. It's not like a DVR, so you have
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: to wait for it to be over and post it
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: as a podcast and you can do whatever you want, right.
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: It's like turning on nine eight five in your car. Yeah,
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: your shows, my shows. Not anymore though, although Sunday Oh
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: Teddy j Radio, Oh boy, I went ted Johnson, I'm
- 1:51:57Speaker 1: talking about the cliff can't wait. Keeping Calm is actually
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: a horrible elle from Wisconsin. Few things. First, why don't
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: have anything against Bill O'Brien. He wasn't here when he void?
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: Else from Wisconsin says, First, why do we all assume
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: and I don't think we all assume, but I might
- 1:52:14Speaker 1: that Patricia was doing Bill a favor. One thing we
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: haven't thought. What if he wanted to coach the offense?
- 1:52:19Speaker 1: What if Josh left and Patricia went to Bill saying
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: I got this could could be. As for Billy, oh,
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: I'm very happy they brought in a legito. See though
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: I'm still lukewarm on the team overall. Does having a
- 1:52:32Speaker 1: legito c get them past the Bills, Bengals and Chiefs?
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: Does it even get them in the conversation? I don't
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: think so, or at least not with this quarterback. I
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: don't know, but but it's just that's the first thing
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: that had to happen. And this offseason is on a
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: good track to start. They got a lot of work
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: to do, but this had to happen. I asked you
- 1:52:48Speaker 1: guys last week what your thoughts were of Jacksonville, and
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: now you have another game that I think a lot
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: of people thought they might get panted in. I think
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: it's kind of an incomplete and get pantst But Mahomes's
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: injury obviously had a big part of that. UM I
- 1:53:06Speaker 1: kind of think that Jacksonville is inching its way toward.
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: They still have a waste to go. I think they're
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: closer to that group than the middle group, the middling group.
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: I think so I think, I mean they should think
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: that might be in the AFC South for a little bit.
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: I think that's a team that that will be dealt with.
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: I think they have some young talent on both sides
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: of the ball, but especially on defense, and they can
- 1:53:26Speaker 1: get better. It's just their division. And you know, now
- 1:53:29Speaker 1: they're going to be in the despite playing in Jacksonville.
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: They're now an attractive team. They're like an up and
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: coming team. And if you're a free agent, that quarterback
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: Doug Peterson, you know, they cut the quarterback and it's like,
- 1:53:40Speaker 1: you know, I want to be part of a team
- 1:53:42Speaker 1: that you know could be winning their first Super Bowl.
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: Hell yeah, I'd love to have Calvin Ridley. How he's
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: on Jacksonville? He is? How did I ever remember that? Yeah?
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: He got Tredy wall Is suspended. Yeah, so they got
- 1:53:53Speaker 1: Calvin Ridley coming back next year. And for all the
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: static they took about that Kirk contract, he's a pretty
- 1:53:58Speaker 1: good players. I loved him come out. You remember I
- 1:54:01Speaker 1: remember him coming out of college and loved him as that.
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: Like want I've been telling you this time, I want
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: to get away from the eight point nine yards per
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: catch slot receiver. If you want to have a slot guy, great,
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: Chris Godwin before the ACL. I'll take that kind of
- 1:54:17Speaker 1: slot guy explosiveness. That was Christian Kirk, a big play
- 1:54:21Speaker 1: slot receiver. Um. I like that kind of player, and
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: if the Patriots could get one of them, I'm not
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: like clamoring for the next Do you know Weswalker Hunter
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: Renfro like great, Yeah, as conky as my Boyfelder would say, Neat,
- 1:54:38Speaker 1: you know I need place a conky. Get him late
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: in the draft. Bang, I think you'll have value. Don't
- 1:54:46Speaker 1: think you'll have to use one of your eleven selections
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: if you want him. That's how we got into this mess, was, Oh,
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: we can get him late in the draft, maybe even
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: the UDFA and he's fit the role and he and
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: that's why I like, that's got into all the film.
- 1:54:58Speaker 1: Evans starting to spit on a Twitter. It's like even
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: with the tackle position, I'm like and watching what Burrow
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: did with missing most of his line. I know we
- 1:55:05Speaker 1: don't have Burrow, but it's just as hard not to
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: look at that and say, can we just get a
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: first round receiver? Like, get somebody a tough year for that.
- 1:55:12Speaker 1: It's a tough year. A guy Jackson Smith. We'll see
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: if you're what he were. If he runs in the
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: four fives, you can't take him at fourteen. Jordan Addison
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: from US, He's an interesting player. I don't think he
- 1:55:24Speaker 1: is as technically sound as as Jasen is, but he's
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: more explosive. I do that, right, Nijigbo. Yeah, I just
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: call him I think something like that. And I do.
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: I do like Zay Flowers. Not as much as people
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: around here do. People around here are fitting him for
- 1:55:39Speaker 1: the gold jacket already because he went to BC. But
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: I do like Zay Flowers. I think he's a good player.
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: I mean, what if you could trade down to the
- 1:55:44Speaker 1: low twenty, get two picks in the twenties and get
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: a receiver and a tackle. Yeah, I mean Zay Flowers
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: is your Christian Kirk that he's that type of player. Yeah,
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: I mean did he get too much money? Probably? But
- 1:55:56Speaker 1: who's to say in three years is it gonna matter?
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: You know, he cut, you know, he had like eleven
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: hundred yard He just looked up his stats. He had
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: eight eight touchdowns eleven hundred yards, and their free agent
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: spending worked out better than yours. Yeah, they got Christian Kirk,
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: Evan Ingram, and Zay Jones in that free agency right now,
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: spending what they see if they have the year two drop,
- 1:56:17Speaker 1: which everybody that does the free agent thing tends to
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: addressed toward the You know, Ingram was a one year deal,
- 1:56:22Speaker 1: so he's up again, right, Yeah, pretty sure he and
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: he had I mean yeah, I produced both your tight ends,
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: Matt and bridged in Maine. All of the Patriots media,
- 1:56:33Speaker 1: just being honest, all of the Patriots media and talk
- 1:56:36Speaker 1: shows seemed to miss the real issue with what took
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: place last year. Tell it was not so much that
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: the Patriots and Judge were put in a Patricia I'm sorry,
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: Patricia and Judge were put in offensive positions for the
- 1:56:46Speaker 1: first time given the circumstances. It was that Bill allowed
- 1:56:50Speaker 1: the offensive system to be changed from one that emphasizes
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: a cerebral pocket quarterback centric approach to whatever oversimplified monstrosity
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: they tried to install. That is, changing from a system
- 1:57:02Speaker 1: that suited Mac's strengths to one that accentuated his weaknesses.
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: Of course Mac did not buy into this, and even
- 1:57:08Speaker 1: if he had, he was not capable of flourishing within
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: that system. Might as well have put Julian Edelman at fullback.
- 1:57:15Speaker 1: A decision to change from the system they had to
- 1:57:18Speaker 1: whatever they were going to was a terrible coaching mistake
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: by one of the greatest coaches of all time. How
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: did we miss We've been talking about that all year.
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: Maybe we missed it? Sorry? That bugs me. Well, he's
- 1:57:29Speaker 1: saying that rather than focusing on they put the wrong
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: guys at the wrong positions, Patrician Judge, we should be
- 1:57:36Speaker 1: focusing on the fact that the offensive change question go ahead.
- 1:57:41Speaker 1: Why did they choose that time to change some of
- 1:57:46Speaker 1: those things? I don't know, Because Patricia and Judge were
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: coming in and we talked about the system changing and
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: what the problems were with them ended up what they
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: ended up doing. I feel like I was a broken
- 1:58:00Speaker 1: record on that point. I don't know. I mean, they
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: changed the offense completely and it didn't work. Like we
- 1:58:04Speaker 1: talked about this all year. Yeah, I mean, I think
- 1:58:06Speaker 1: the running thing got talked about ad nauseam, the zone
- 1:58:10Speaker 1: runs and all that, and how they weren't suited for
- 1:58:13Speaker 1: it and it didn't work. How much time they wasted
- 1:58:16Speaker 1: implement that was like, I don't know, middle of July
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: to week eighteen inclusive, pretty much kennon New Jersey. Do
- 1:58:25Speaker 1: you think this is the beginning of the end for
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: the Bills? Their caps starts getting tight? Josh Allen is
- 1:58:30Speaker 1: now over forty million. Do you think they'll make a
- 1:58:32Speaker 1: desperate final move to get to the super Bowl which
- 1:58:34Speaker 1: will eventually set them back for years or will they
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: start tearing things down now? I can't help but think
- 1:58:40Speaker 1: they're loss may be very helpful for the Patriots to
- 1:58:43Speaker 1: get back in the running in the AFC East. What
- 1:58:46Speaker 1: did you tear them down? I think? Can I ask
- 1:58:50Speaker 1: you a question honestly because I because I expect the
- 1:58:53Speaker 1: truth from you, Like do you like do you think
- 1:58:56Speaker 1: that the Bills are like this, like poorly structured roster? No,
- 1:59:03Speaker 1: they have one of the best rosters. So why would
- 1:59:05Speaker 1: anybody think that they're gonna fall apart because they lost
- 1:59:07Speaker 1: a game in the playoffs? And as much as I
- 1:59:09Speaker 1: just rallied on Josh Allen, as long as you have
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: a guy like that, then you're gonna be You're gonna
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: have a chance, right, Like he can because he can
- 1:59:16Speaker 1: always get high in a playoff run and all of
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: a sudden, you're in the super Bowl. To me, if
- 1:59:20Speaker 1: we haven't reached the sort of two thousand and sixteen,
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: seventeen eighteen ish version of the Patriots, where as long
- 1:59:29Speaker 1: as you got Bill and Tom you got a chance,
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: you know, like that team, it's not just as long
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: as you got Josh, you got a chance. They might
- 1:59:38Speaker 1: turn into that in a few years. But somehow I
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: think people think von Miller is indicative of how that
- 1:59:45Speaker 1: team was built when it couldn't be further from the truth. Like,
- 1:59:49Speaker 1: they have a boatload of young draft picks that have
- 1:59:54Speaker 1: played key roles for them. Some of them didn't play
- 1:59:56Speaker 1: as well as others. Their recent drafts haven't been as good.
- 1:59:59Speaker 1: My god, Like who isn't home like Edmundson Milano, Yeah, uh,
- 2:00:05Speaker 1: Ed Oliver up front, I mean just like dem just
- 2:00:07Speaker 1: talking about Randoms White, um, Gabe Davis. These are draft picks.
- 2:00:14Speaker 1: Devin Singletary. Like, the question is, though, is this isn't
- 2:00:18Speaker 1: just about like, oh, we went out and got the
- 2:00:20Speaker 1: shiny object and free agency von Miller. And that's what
- 2:00:22Speaker 1: he says, saying they might do that now because they're
- 2:00:25Speaker 1: death and that's gonna be a good thing for the
- 2:00:28Speaker 1: Patriots because you get an already great roster and accentuate
- 2:00:34Speaker 1: the von Miller signing was exactly what a team like
- 2:00:37Speaker 1: that should do, exactly, and all the pieces in place.
- 2:00:39Speaker 1: He was the last piece to the puzzle and they
- 2:00:41Speaker 1: dropped them in and until he got hurt, they were
- 2:00:43Speaker 1: a great defense. So no, I don't think Buffalo is
- 2:00:46Speaker 1: going anywhere. But I do think that my problem with
- 2:00:49Speaker 1: just was what we've already. We already act like they've
- 2:00:51Speaker 1: won six Super Bowls. You know that that's a different argument.
- 2:00:54Speaker 1: I like, I don't blame you for feeling like that,
- 2:00:56Speaker 1: but I just look at the way that the Bills
- 2:00:58Speaker 1: were built is kind of how the Patriots built their
- 2:01:01Speaker 1: teams in one oh three and oh four. But I
- 2:01:02Speaker 1: think they got to evolve, grow talent. That's what it's.
- 2:01:05Speaker 1: You've got to continue to hit on draft picks. And
- 2:01:07Speaker 1: you know, it's just even with the Patriots and that's
- 2:01:09Speaker 1: run in the early two thousands, it wasn't always the same.
- 2:01:12Speaker 1: You know, like you went out you got to Corey Dillon,
- 2:01:13Speaker 1: or you know, all of a sudden, you went you
- 2:01:14Speaker 1: had Randy Moss like it was always something different. They
- 2:01:16Speaker 1: were trying to stay ahead of the curve. I think
- 2:01:18Speaker 1: Buffalo has to do that, but I don't think they're going.
- 2:01:19Speaker 1: I'll tell you what they have questions about from watching
- 2:01:21Speaker 1: the Miami game and then the Cincinnati game. I know
- 2:01:25Speaker 1: they didn't have a great offensive line, but what happened
- 2:01:26Speaker 1: to the offensive line? I mean, he got sacked seven
- 2:01:30Speaker 1: times against Miami and he ran for his life the
- 2:01:32Speaker 1: entirety of the game. They have to figure out and
- 2:01:34Speaker 1: I know we're over, but they have to figure out
- 2:01:37Speaker 1: that every single defense knows that you are going to
- 2:01:42Speaker 1: throw the ball, and I think that there you can
- 2:01:45Speaker 1: win that way to a degree. But you know, whether
- 2:01:49Speaker 1: it's Josh Boyer, Loui Amma Ramo, Bill Belichick, I can't
- 2:01:51Speaker 1: say that guy's name. They couldn't on the broadcast either.
- 2:01:56Speaker 1: It doesn't All of those guys are coming in and
- 2:01:59Speaker 1: they are running exotic fire zone simpress like they're just
- 2:02:04Speaker 1: throwing the kitchen sink at Josh Allen because they know
- 2:02:07Speaker 1: that if you want to hand it off to Singletary
- 2:02:09Speaker 1: thirty times, then be my guests, right, Like, if you're
- 2:02:11Speaker 1: going to actually do that and commit to it, then
- 2:02:13Speaker 1: be my guests, but Buffalo won't. And so because they're
- 2:02:16Speaker 1: able to just game plan pass they did at times
- 2:02:18Speaker 1: in the regular season, they didn't here. Yeah, when they
- 2:02:20Speaker 1: went six, I think they did it here. Did they
- 2:02:23Speaker 1: do it here though, because they felt like that was
- 2:02:25Speaker 1: the best way to beat the Patriots, or they did
- 2:02:26Speaker 1: it here because they knew that the Patriots couldn't score.
- 2:02:29Speaker 1: I mean it could be both. I just think that
- 2:02:31Speaker 1: they did that here because they basically parked the bus
- 2:02:34Speaker 1: in the second half and said, we're not this team
- 2:02:37Speaker 1: today is not going to put points on the board
- 2:02:39Speaker 1: against us. In its felt that way. Yeah, No, I
- 2:02:42Speaker 1: definitely think they throttled down in the second half. But I,
- 2:02:46Speaker 1: like I said, you fall down like they ran six plays,
- 2:02:48Speaker 1: they would down fourteen nothing like they're They're not built
- 2:02:53Speaker 1: to pound the ball away to get that touchdown to
- 2:02:56Speaker 1: get back in. I just think that there's no respect
- 2:02:59Speaker 1: from the defense, is point. There's no respect for anything
- 2:03:02Speaker 1: else besides Josh Allen being Josh Allen. And if you
- 2:03:06Speaker 1: can somehow devise a game plan to control that, then
- 2:03:10Speaker 1: Buffalo has no left hand right like, they have no
- 2:03:13Speaker 1: other way to play the game. It's either Josh Allen
- 2:03:16Speaker 1: is on or he's off, and there's no there's nothing
- 2:03:18Speaker 1: else to really go to. That said, if the defense
- 2:03:20Speaker 1: and your boy Leslie Fraser, who you eviscerted earlier, right sell,
- 2:03:24Speaker 1: if they show up, then maybe they have a chance
- 2:03:27Speaker 1: to sort of get back on track after a slow start.
- 2:03:30Speaker 1: They never really were afforded that opportunity. I thought the
- 2:03:33Speaker 1: drive at the end of the first half was the game.
- 2:03:35Speaker 1: I thought that was their one chance to get back
- 2:03:37Speaker 1: within a square. Okay, very very very early prediction. The
- 2:03:40Speaker 1: Patriots will compete next year a viable competition for the
- 2:03:44Speaker 1: avc's Division douce yes or no, yes, evan, an actual competition.
- 2:03:50Speaker 1: They're like by record, like in December, they're in the running.
- 2:03:54Speaker 1: I'll say yes, but like, I don't think it's actually
- 2:03:57Speaker 1: gonna be real. I think they're gonna be like no
- 2:04:00Speaker 1: because it's yes, but I don't I don't know. I'll
- 2:04:02Speaker 1: go and yes, Okay, if things are how they are
- 2:04:04Speaker 1: right now, no, yea no, no, right, yes, I think
- 2:04:11Speaker 1: things are gonna happen. Five game turnaround, I think I
- 2:04:13Speaker 1: think I think, well, assuming that the Bills win all
- 2:04:17Speaker 1: the games they won this year, what if your five
- 2:04:20Speaker 1: games behind them right now, right, But what if the
- 2:04:22Speaker 1: Bills don't win as many games next year? What if
- 2:04:28Speaker 1: if my ball should be my own? No, but I'm
- 2:04:30Speaker 1: just saying, maybe they're not as good and we're a
- 2:04:31Speaker 1: little better, and it's closer that elbow whereries people. You
- 2:04:34Speaker 1: said it's going to be a race? Yeah, is the
- 2:04:37Speaker 1: question is going to be closer than five games? Because
- 2:04:39Speaker 1: I'll change my answer. No, it's like you're in December.
- 2:04:42Speaker 1: It's like, hey, the Patriots can win this thing. Yeah. No, okay,
- 2:04:45Speaker 1: that's that's what I'm saying. No, okay, all right. We'll
