- 1:30W podcast Championship Wrestling. I am your host, Wayne also known as Semi
- 1:34Dried Chicken, and man, do we have a special episode for you.
- 1:38We are not reviewing a pay per view. We are not giving you the
- 1:41predictions for a pay per view. No, we are not gonna reminisce about
- 1:45an old pay per view from the Ruthless Aggression era. We're not gonna just
- 1:49gabble on about ship in the news. No, today we are interviewing a
- 1:57wrestling fan. Oh, yes we are are. But I can't do this
- 2:01alone, so let me bring down somebody from the commentary team. Drea.
- 2:38What's up? Man? Yo? Yo? What a do pc W crew?
- 2:44Damn man? So it seems like you know this this terrible ship weather
- 2:50that we've been having that's been hidden the East Coast. It seems like it's
- 2:53affected Doyle because he wasn't able to make it to the podcast somehow. I
- 2:58I he must have had graveling issues of some kind, but he could make
- 3:04it today. But we have somebody here we're gonna interview. I mean t
- 3:12interviews. I mean, I think it's a good idea interviewing wrestling fans that
- 3:15that we discover because I want to hear I want to hear the public,
- 3:21the WWE universe or the wrestling universe. I want to hear their opinions.
- 3:27I mean, we we talk and talk and talk every month for hours on
- 3:30end about how we feel. Everybody knows. The peeps out there know how
- 3:35we feel. But how do these guys feel. Let's let's interview them?
- 3:39So so coming out for this I don't know, maybe our version of the
- 3:45Bump or some sort of interview show, miss TV, whatever whatever you think
- 3:51this version is, but let's let's bring them out. Nobody and fine where
- 4:16did oh Man? That means it just hits the spot. Eric, How
- 4:30are you, Bud? I'm doing good man, Thank you so much for
- 4:34having me on the show. I'm excited to always excited to talk about wrestling
- 4:38with other wrestling fans. It's uh, it's gonna be a good time.
- 4:42I'm excited. Oh yeah, man. And when you sent me the theme
- 4:46music you wanted, I was like, this is a good one. This
- 4:48is good. It's just I mean, I I just picture you walking out
- 4:53to the ring just I mean, it's just strutting it. Man. The
- 4:56music's works, you know. Yeah, it's got a very nice bop to
- 5:00it. Yes, yes, just come on and get really easy and get
- 5:04ready for your match with was that Thundercat? It was, yes, I
- 5:09thought so. It sounded like Eric, what's your what's your your social handle?
- 5:17How how people recognize you on social media? So you can find me
- 5:21on social media two ways. Of course, on the TikTok At Articulation Station,
- 5:28I mainly just share a lot of action figure displays, wrestling and comic
- 5:31book pop culture, uh, on that sort. And then you can also
- 5:35find me on Instagram at the paper Champion. Yeah, and we'll plug you
- 5:42again at the end of the show. But yeah, I'm just you know,
- 5:46when I'm watching wrestling, uh, it's I guess for me, when
- 5:50you're in the middle of it, like in the middle of a raw episode
- 5:54or in aw it seems like the hottest time to be on the social media
- 5:57because it's like you get right then in their reactions to something that's happening,
- 6:01maybe something that we missed, maybe an accident or a mishap of some kind
- 6:09of botch, and the Internet is always undefeated and seems to find a way
- 6:15to show us, you know, or make fun of it or whatever the
- 6:18it may be. There's always a viral moment when it comes to wrestling.
- 6:21So, you know, I'm sitting there and I'm going through TikTok and I
- 6:25love looking through wrestling, you know, stuff for TikTok, and I'm looking
- 6:30for more wrestling fans cause there's a lot of wrestling fans out there. I
- 6:34talk to and they some of them don't even know what podcasts are or don't
- 6:38listen. But sometimes I bring them in, you know, bring them in
- 6:41as fans, and sometimes they stay for a very long time. Sometimes they
- 6:45become part of the show. Uh but uh, Eric, what like when
- 6:51did you get into pro wrestling? Like when did you start watching it?
- 6:56When did you when was it? Like? Uh, this is what I'm
- 6:59into, this is what I'm gonna watch. I'm a fan now. So
- 7:03when I was younger, we would my family and I would all go on
- 7:10Thanksgiving to my grandmother's house. And at the time, she lived in the
- 7:14projects in Brooklyn. She didn't really have a lot of money, she didn't
- 7:17really have much, but she always had one wrestling VHS and it was WrestleMania
- 7:24nine. So for some time, WrestleMania nine was my first introduction to professional
- 7:30wrestling. And then I could give you the exact month and year they sink
- 7:34it's hooks in and never let go, and that was December of nineteen ninety
- 7:39five. I remember the exact moment. I was saying Chriss cross Apple sauce
- 7:44style on the floor and I saw the undertaker m Poulbear, and from there
- 7:49I was absolutely just hooked. I have a fun stat that I like to
- 7:57tell people. So I don't know, I guess I don't know how this
- 7:59is gonna come across, but I have never missed an episode of Monday Night
- 8:01Raw. It's in the thirty eight, no, twenty eight years that I've
- 8:05been watching wrestling. Uh, It's I absolutely love it. I mean that
- 8:11that was the exact moment right then and there that I was like, yep,
- 8:15Yep, this is my jam. I'm never letting go of this.
- 8:18So would you say that, like, Paul Undertaker, is this like before
- 8:26Attitude era? Would you say that It's like maybe? Yeah, So this
- 8:31was right at the cusp of uh the what would it be? Know?
- 8:37And I guess the uh the Golden Era, right before the Attitude error began.
- 8:45So it was right at the cusp of that. I remember actually watching
- 8:48the Vince mcmn pass a speech when he delivered that. I remember that watching
- 8:54live and it going so over my head at the time, because you know,
- 8:56I was such a young kid. I was born eighty five, so
- 8:58at the time, I was about eleven years old, I want to say,
- 9:03so the level of it was going way over my head. But it
- 9:05was just shortly either way, my introduction, that was just shortly before the
- 9:11group the Attitude Ever. Yeah, I was born eighty six, so very
- 9:15similar. I mean, Dre like, I mean, like, how early
- 9:20were you watching like the Golden Era? Do you remember that era? I
- 9:24mean for me, given that I'm a bit older than y'all, Yeah,
- 9:26I remember I started watching wrestling in the late eighties. Yeah, yeah,
- 9:31that's what I got in. So, yeah, by the time the Golden
- 9:35Era came around, well, mostly WWF. I was I would say,
- 9:41casually watching because remember I got started in wrestling with NWA and WCW. So
- 9:50that's the product that I followed most diligently through the you know, through the
- 9:56mid nineties, through most of the Monday Night Wars. And it probably wasn't
- 10:00until the attitude there that I fully crossed over into full time WWF watching.
- 10:05Yeah, for that part. But so let me ask you, Eric,
- 10:09So if you got in it, you said in ninety five was when you
- 10:13kind of got in and got hooked and never missed Monday Night an episode of
- 10:16Raw. So what were you doing during the Monday Night Wars? Were you
- 10:22switching back and forth every Monday Night like everybody else was doing, or did
- 10:24you just put it on USA and watch Raw? And that was it?
- 10:28So I was a switcher. I was a switcher, but Raw and WWF,
- 10:35I guess at the time that was my number one. But anytime there
- 10:39was a segment on Raw that I just wasn't too interested in, I would
- 10:43immediately switch over and see what was going on on WQW. I loved guys
- 10:48like Dean Malenko, Jericho obviously, I hate to say it, you know,
- 10:54based on what he did, but even guys like Chris ban Wah,
- 10:58I mean, some of those guys in WCW, some of them were just
- 11:00so different than what we were getting in WWF at the time that a part
- 11:05of me was like, what's going on over here. Booker t was another
- 11:07one, probably like my favorite WCW wrestler coming out of that time. So,
- 11:13you know, suffice it to say I was, I was bouncing,
- 11:16but I'd say it'd be about seventy five to twenty five to Raw, Okay,
- 11:24I would say, yeah, I was probably I was probably the other
- 11:26way around during that time. I was probably seventy five percent nitro and twenty
- 11:31five percent RAW at that time until until Raw kind of jumped the shark with
- 11:37the whole nWo thing where it was like three fourths of the damn roster was
- 11:41in nWo, and then they HADWO Hollywood nWo wolf Pack, and I was
- 11:46like, Okay, this shit is getting ridiculous a bunch. Yeah, I
- 11:52never flipped channels. I was always like strictly ww because I don't know,
- 11:58maybe it's I think at the time, it was just what I was able
- 12:01to access, like I don't think I because I didn't have cable growing up,
- 12:07so like if I wanted to watch wrestling, I had to go somewhere
- 12:09else, some friends house to watch it, and if that friend didn't want
- 12:13to watch WCW, whatever. But I, you know, I just grew
- 12:16up in a time period where I've got in trouble in middle school, you
- 12:22know, for telling people to suck it and like cross shopping all the time.
- 12:26You know, like that was my time period. You know, Eric,
- 12:35what what's your what was your favorite wrestler? You would say from that
- 12:37time period? Like, okay, yeah, let's say from the gold the
- 12:41Golden Era, what was like some of your favorite wrestlers. Yeah, so
- 12:48obviously Undertaker, he takes the top as my favorite of all time. But
- 12:52excluding him, I really loved guys like Bam Bam Bigelow. I thought it
- 12:56was fantastic. I'm trying to think who else really the Golden Error Because I
- 13:03caught it so late in its run, there were a lot of guys that
- 13:07later in life I had to go back and look up. But some of
- 13:11those guys ended up going into the attitude. They were like your Brett harttend
- 13:15or Shawn Michaels, which I was also a very big Shawn Michaels fan.
- 13:18He was someone that that I was completely all about. Guy Brett Hart too
- 13:26as well. Like I said, Diesel, I really enjoyed Diesel before he
- 13:28went to the w game. You know, Kevin ash which which which was
- 13:33great as well, but I really enjoyed that that character for for whatever reason.
- 13:39So those would be some of my top guys. And then during the
- 13:41Attitude era, I mean d X was obviously just one of my favorites that
- 13:46still to this day. I mean, thank god Triple H has become the
- 13:50person that he is in wrestling, because I've always been such a big fan
- 13:56of him. And my hot take is I've never really been too much of
- 14:01a fan of The Rock. I mean, obviously their Rock has his iconic
- 14:03moments, but I've liked other wrestlers during his time more than I enjoyed him
- 14:09MW. But that's not knocking his his abilities, and it's what he's done
- 14:15for the sport of pro wrestling, right. Okay, So so you said
- 14:22you watch like even like now, like, how how much wrestling do you
- 14:26like? Take? In Like That's that's how I can phrase it because you
- 14:30can't just say, like, do you watch wrestling? Oh yeah, I
- 14:31watched like two hours of SmackDown. That's it. No, like I need
- 14:35to know, like what's your intake, like, because wrestling, if if
- 14:41you really wanted to, you could probably get it every day of the week.
- 14:46I mean yeah time period now, so yeah, there's definitely every single
- 14:54day. So I don't watch TNA Impact, I don't watch Ring of Honor,
- 15:00I don't watch NWA, but I do watch Raw NXT on Tuesdays Tonight
- 15:05aw Dynamite. Then I'll watch on Fridays both SmackDown and Rampage, and then
- 15:11on Saturdays, I'll watch Collision or obviously if there's a plee or pay per
- 15:16view or or whatever from Men from a W or WW or NXC, I'll
- 15:20watch any one of those and then following Collision after that or whatever it is.
- 15:26But I watched mainly everything A W and WW put out on television.
- 15:31Nice. Yeah, it's just so much to take in. It's a lot.
- 15:37Yeah, It's like there's no like day of the week we can even
- 15:41like really record without running into like wrestlings on like and even like we've done
- 15:46it where we're recording and news is breaking while we're recording, Like Lift Morgan
- 15:50got arrested while we're recording one episode, and oh yeah, Morgan got arrested
- 15:56for possession of marijuana, like when we were like on a broke you know.
- 16:03But it's like it's it's like it's always on, like and like,
- 16:07yeah, dude, you're right. You got Raw Monday NXT on Tuesday,
- 16:11you got your a W on Wednesday, you got your Impact Wrestling on Thursday,
- 16:15you got your SmackDown and a W on Friday, and then you could
- 16:19fit in your n W A or what's it. What is it? Yeah,
- 16:26New Japan Wrestling, and yeah you can fit all that stuff in on
- 16:32the weekends and then you got all right pay per views and it's just it's
- 16:37just it is. It's a lot to take in. Yeah, And like
- 16:41I do know podcasts that like review like Rall SmackDown a W for the week,
- 16:48and that's awesome, but like I'm not doing that at a show every
- 16:52every week, like covering, you know what I mean. It's rough.
- 16:56It's really rough. And that's why we like cover and just the pay per
- 17:00views and kind of recapping, like we step away for a couple of weeks,
- 17:03we come back, we recap a prediction before the pay per view,
- 17:10and then we'll do a post wrap up. Yeah. I mean it's even
- 17:15for podcasters, like, you know, like how much can even people take
- 17:21in listening to wrestling podcasts? Like, you know, I I want to
- 17:23listen to like maybe like a two three hour for the week. I don't
- 17:26think I want to listen you know, like a eight hours worth of wrestling
- 17:30podcast throughout the week. I don't know. Maybe that's why I decided not
- 17:34to go weekly, because I was just like, I don't think anybody wants
- 17:37to take in this much wrestling a week, you know, us some of
- 17:42those people are like those super die hard people who you know, live,
- 17:48eat, sleep, breathe wrestling to like what you better a check for that?
- 17:55Yeah you can go like what Culture any of those other wrestling podcasts,
- 17:59But to monthly baby sometimes become twice a month. Yeah, you know,
- 18:04if we get bored, we squeeze in other episodes. But uh, you
- 18:10know, I admire the people who follow it follow not just well, not
- 18:15the ones I'm not saying I don't admire them, but the people who follow
- 18:18the product enough to where they can you know, confidently speak on all aspects
- 18:25of wrestling, not just you know, just w W or all that stuff.
- 18:27Like they know about they know about the WWE product. They can talk
- 18:32about a w New Japan, they can talk about what's going on that the
- 18:37ND scene. And you know who these up and coming names are people you
- 18:40can check out, Like there are people who really are about that in terms
- 18:44of following the product, whether they're putting out content or not, they just
- 18:48follow it that diligently. And like I said, those people like I admire
- 18:52the hell out of them for having that, you know, that commitment or
- 18:56just having that much of a passion for it that they can follow to that
- 18:59great to an extent. Yeah, Live on air, Doyle just got back
- 19:07to me. Okay, so you know, I'm going through your page and
- 19:18your social media page on TikTok because that's where it came across you. And
- 19:22I like collecting action figures and putting them in my display case, and but
- 19:26nothing to the extent of what you have and what you have going on,
- 19:33you know, just a quick rundown of what I've seen. You have stuff
- 19:37like Power Rangers, Marvel, DC Star Wars, Ghostbusters, Lord of the
- 19:42Rings, Mortal Kombat, Ninja, Turtles, Gargoyles, power Rangers. But
- 19:48you know, so much wonderful stuff on there. But what caught my eye
- 19:52is the wrestling action figures. And you don't just you know, you don't
- 19:59just display. I'm like the average person who just like lines them all up
- 20:02or or keeps them in the boxes and makes your house look like a store.
- 20:08Now, I'm one of those people who believe that I bought it.
- 20:14I'm going to enjoy it, and I'm gonna take it out of its package.
- 20:18Oh and I hear people already. Oh, but you take care of
- 20:22its package, and then the value goes down. I don't care. Like
- 20:26I bought it to enjoy. I didn't buy it to see it for the
- 20:30next dude. You know, the only the only things I probably I probably
- 20:36have two things that are here that aren't opened. And there are two pops.
- 20:41And it's because I refuse to collect pops. And it's because once you
- 20:45stop, once you start, you can't stop. And I'm not going down
- 20:49that fucking road. No. So Duane Coleman a listener of the show,
- 20:55and I know he's listening. He decided and he knows he knows. Oh,
- 21:00I don't like pops. He knows I don't want to start this sick
- 21:03addiction of collecting pops and got me a Shawn Michaels and a Triple H one
- 21:10from d X, and I just I had to take them. I can't
- 21:12say no. And he was over the other day and he told me he
- 21:17got me some more wrestling pops. So I feel like I'm gonna have a
- 21:22collection of wrestling pops whether I like it or not. But yeah, you
- 21:27have. Yes, you have a great collection of wrestling action figures. And
- 21:33it looks like you're doing this whole multiverse situation and it's so cool because I
- 21:40have something similar, so like, that's why I admired it so much.
- 21:42I was like, man, I have something similar, but nothing on the
- 21:47scale of what you're doing. I love how you position all the characters into
- 21:52like action poses. The wrestling ones are great. What made you decide to
- 22:00go this kind of route of displaying them instead of, you know, being
- 22:04the guy who keeps them all in the package, hangs them on the wall
- 22:08like stacks them, you know, to cover the whole wall. Basically makes
- 22:11your room look like a retail store, but yours your your room. Looks
- 22:17like it's telling a story. And it's when you go in there, I
- 22:21don't feel like I'm in a store. I would feel like I'm in a
- 22:25I'm in the middle of a big story, a big universe that's going on.
- 22:29So tell me a little bit about that. So, so my idea
- 22:34started when I actually started posing the Superheroes and the Power Rangers, all those
- 22:42those figures. I had started posing them. One day. I had a
- 22:48whole tier shelf design that is above my TV, and I started posing them
- 22:55the typical way people would pose them, just next to each other and stuff.
- 23:00I don't know. One day, I was be honest, drinking a
- 23:02little beer and I'm sitting there and I'm looking at it. I'm like,
- 23:04you know, maybe they're just do something a little different. It seemed just
- 23:07boring to me for some reason. It was making me almost not even appreciate
- 23:11my collection or make me feel like I wasn't appreciated my collection, and it
- 23:17was just me personally, and I just decided, you know what, I'm
- 23:19going to pose some of these guys like they're fighting and see how it looks.
- 23:23And I remember i posed it was all of the Power Angers fighting.
- 23:29I think it was like the Lord said and Vitaverpolsa and I looked at it
- 23:33and I was like, that actually looks kind of cool. So I decided
- 23:36myself, let me, let me continue on. And I ended up doing
- 23:38all these figures on a huge wall, and I said, looks pretty good.
- 23:42And I'm someone that once that can of worm gets opened, I you
- 23:47know, it's almost a little scary what's going to happen next, because then
- 23:49all of a sudden, I'm like, you know what, let me take
- 23:52all of them down, because if I'm going to do this, let me
- 23:55do it. So then I did it again, and this time I had
- 24:00what seemed to be a whole huge war. This was back in my two
- 24:03thousand and one anything, and I did this whole world, all these pop
- 24:07culture good guys and all these pop culture bad guys, and people would come
- 24:12over to my house and they'd go into the room and they say, this
- 24:15is insane. I never see anything like this. I never was one to
- 24:18really post things on social media or even put that my any of my displays
- 24:23are my collection out there, mainly because I just didn't want to hear from
- 24:27people saying, hey, you're an older person. Collecting toys. I just
- 24:30didn't want to get that kind of flack. And then ironically I ended up
- 24:34seeing people like Danny O'manny on TikTok, someone who's an older collector that you
- 24:41know, he got that love and he was not afraid to show off his
- 24:45display. So that's when I decided to share the superhero display that I had
- 24:51done, and it got like half a million views, and I had a
- 24:55ton of likes and comments, and it boosted my confidence a little bit.
- 25:00And now, mind you, while I'm doing that, I look behind me
- 25:03in my in this room, and my wrestling figures are posed behind me into
- 25:08typical the typical you know, ad at orders standing up right, you know,
- 25:15looking forward, And I'm like, man, what if I do what
- 25:18I did with the pop culture filming and heroes and comic book stuff. What
- 25:22if I do that aspect but with the wrestling that makes so much sense,
- 25:27you know, the big battle royal where everybody just fighting. It's a huge
- 25:32just role that one goes into the other. And the first thing that I
- 25:37did was set up Sean Michaels about to kick aj Styles in the face,
- 25:42like the page of The Spying Man with the phenomenal forum and HPK was kind
- 25:47of setting up a little punk and then I had set up an edge Spearing
- 25:52Jericho. I set up a few few a little displays in a row.
- 25:57I think I have a look at it now. I have a Randy Jordan
- 26:02RKO and Kobe Rhodes and I had set that up and I posted that online
- 26:07and people started throwing out ideas and started liking it, and once again,
- 26:12it kind of triggered a little bit inside me where I was like, all
- 26:15right, let's let's keep it going. In typical Eric fashion, I then
- 26:19started going nuts, building in more shelves and that's when it became what it
- 26:26is now. And it's been like this now for about quite a while.
- 26:30I want to say maybe eight months now it's been like this. It's due
- 26:34for an overhaul once I'm done with the whole multiverse war I have going on.
- 26:38I have plans for for the wrestling world to make it even better than
- 26:42what it looks now. But yeah, it's something that I look back at
- 26:45now and I'm quite proud of how it's become, and I enjoyed when other
- 26:49wrestling fans you see the Easter eggs that I've added in there, like I
- 26:56have Naddy Italia night Heart and her father kind of standing next to each other
- 27:02that a couple of people have noticed on the Dudleys that's Matt's taken up a
- 27:08couple of little all the littles in there that it's nice to see people catch
- 27:12them, and it's great to see people appreciate it. You know, I
- 27:15never thought that people would appreciate it much, but it's nice. It's quite
- 27:19flattering. Yeah, you have such a variety of different types of pop culture.
- 27:26I mean, just all those stuff I rattled off earlier, and that's
- 27:29what just draws them to that that page and that that's awesome because like,
- 27:33you know, I wasn't gonna ever take that kind of crap from people,
- 27:38either like oh, you collect toys or action figures, Like why can't you
- 27:44collect something cool? Like dude, Like I'm taking advice from a dude who
- 27:48collects like TV guys or like street signs or like old dude. Everybody collects
- 27:53something something at least when I'm If I'm this, if this is what I'm
- 27:59hoarding, you know, at least when I'm dead, it's gonna be fun
- 28:02as hell to go through and divvy up. Do you rather do that or
- 28:04would you rather be on an episode of Hoarders going through like my old like
- 28:07porcelain dolls or some shit, you know what I mean. Like Grandpa had
- 28:12like three hundred thousand license plates from old cars. We gotta throw away.
- 28:18Like, no, everybody has a hobby. And like I wasn't into even
- 28:22collecting Action figures until I was older. It was like at first for me,
- 28:26it was kind of recapturing some of my childhood. It was mostly toys
- 28:33from my childhood. It was like, oh, man, Like you know,
- 28:36I'm into like Batman and Iron Man. That's kind of like the two
- 28:40things I really like collecting a lot of and then you know, just the
- 28:44average Marvel and DC stuff. Oh my goodness. But so you know,
- 28:53I I saw, like, you know, I'd go to a flea market
- 28:56or something. I'm like, oh my god, Like I used to have
- 28:59this toilet back in the nineties. And by the way, that was from
- 29:03Back to the Future, wasn't it. It was it was a regular I
- 29:06forgot put my phone on. Yeah, So like, uh, I would
- 29:18find, like, you know, stuff from my childhood. I would collect
- 29:19them, and then it's just like it just grew and grew and grew,
- 29:23and to the point now it's like now I collect like I need one of
- 29:30the best version of that character. Like I got a Loki and I was
- 29:33like, okay, well now I want the best version of my favorite Loki
- 29:37version of Loki. So you know, I go out and look for that
- 29:41specific one or the version of Thor I really liked. You know, that
- 29:45is the exact way that I also to collect. I don't like to have
- 29:49multiple versions of a character unless there is a reason too. The suit's gotta
- 29:55be different, and even for that, sometimes it's like it's pushing it a
- 29:59bit. But I am the same exact way. You won't see two Peter
- 30:04Venkman's next to each other unless one is the older one and one is the
- 30:08younger woman, So that would be the only reason why that would even be
- 30:12there. But I'm not one to have like too multiple I like for other
- 30:17collectors to get a chance to get stuff, even the same way. I
- 30:22recently got the new Wolverine figure and I love it because it's like just the
- 30:26one Wolverine I've been waiting for the ninety seven comic book one, and it's
- 30:30like perfect. So I have no other desire to get another Wolverine in my
- 30:33collection. And I've actually even been acted that in comments, why you only
- 30:37have one Wolverine because that's the only one one so definite you feel about because
- 30:42like with pro wrestling, a wrestler, their gimmicks are just changing so much,
- 30:48you know, like there's multiple versions of the Undertaker, Like you know,
- 30:52there's multiple versions of Sean Michaels, there's multiple versions of I don't know,
- 30:57like Kine even like you, how do you decide on wrestlers, like
- 31:03which version you're gonna get, because like you get Seth Rollins this year,
- 31:07but next year he might have a different gimmick that you might like even more.
- 31:12Yeah, that is the unfortunate conundrum with wrestling figure collecting is the constant
- 31:22questioning of do you need him because he's in this attire? Do you need
- 31:26him because of the gimmick change? Like how much is it worth it getting
- 31:30it? Because I fall into that trap. When Aj Styles first signed with
- 31:36w w REE. I loved aj Styles from his TNA and Impact days and
- 31:41when he signed with w REE, he had that look and I'm like,
- 31:42he's gonna make a great figure and every single one of his figures at first
- 31:47came out, I bought it, and now I look back at it and
- 31:48I'm like, I only dispose one and I only really like maybe two of
- 31:53them, and I've got like seven, and I'm like, I really need
- 31:56this many AJA styles probably, So I've tried to get a little bit smarter
- 32:01with how I handle it. I try to get I try to know how
- 32:07Mattel is going to pump out the figure, so for example, I try
- 32:10to get all the little inside scoops as I can too as well. So
- 32:15one wrestler in particular is Dominic Mysterio. I have an old Dominique Mysterio figure
- 32:20that is from when he started when he was wrestling with his dad and tag
- 32:22team, And there are a few Dominic Mysterio Judgment Day figures that one had
- 32:29recently came out that I was going to jump on, but then I saw
- 32:31that they plan on releasing another one that's a little bit more updated and like
- 32:37later this year. So I'm like, well, it's a good thing I
- 32:39haven't pulled the trigger on the first Judgment Day went if they plan on just
- 32:45releasing a second and better one. So a lot of it is you gotta
- 32:50be prepared. You got to know what's coming up. It's it's a little
- 32:57bit easier with guys that maybe aren't on TV as much or guys that aren't
- 33:05as popular, because you know, those guys probably won't get another figure for
- 33:08a while, so you want to get him. So for example, I
- 33:12have a Chad Gable. Chad Gable I have is in which long hair,
- 33:15especially how it is. But there is a new one to tell now that
- 33:21I'm like, okay, it's about time for that upgrade. And now he's
- 33:24someone that well he is on TV a lot. He doesn't get too many
- 33:28figures, so he's someone that I would jump on and then eventually maybe sell
- 33:32or or have a lot of dung cousin. I would just give a handy
- 33:37down wrest. So you really got a it's a combination of a few things.
- 33:45And then obviously want and desire. There's a lot of hope Hogan figures,
- 33:50for example, that are out, but I have too. I have
- 33:52Hogan and red and yellow, and I have Hogan and w O. I
- 33:58don't need a cheap on Hogan or Hogan in blue or Hogan. And you
- 34:02know, so was there like a is there like an eleanor of wrestling figures
- 34:15as a gone at sixty seconds reference, like that one figure that you really
- 34:21have always wanted to get but either can't find, or the one that that
- 34:24you did manage to get that was harder or more rare, unique, or
- 34:30the one that has gotten away or been the most difficult one for you to
- 34:32acquire. Do you have one of those in your collection? So I did,
- 34:37and thankfully toy companies now are getting a little bit hip to some of
- 34:44the I guess grails that have gone by, and I have regretted not getting
- 34:52one of them. In particular, actually that I'm thinking of a match pop
- 34:55than I had was a CM Punk. Thankfully ladies signed back with it,
- 35:00really because they'll probably end up re releasing this figure a little bit more updated
- 35:05fingers crossed. But it was a CM punk figure in his attire from Money
- 35:10in the Bank when he won the matchup and left that infamous moment where he
- 35:15blew the kiss to Vince McMahon, and he was in that attire, and
- 35:17I remember I loved that attire. The figure obviously sold out. I had
- 35:22chances and opportunities at the time to get it, but you know, he
- 35:27can't predict the future and how his career would end up going, you know,
- 35:30a couple of years after that. And that figure is essentially almost like
- 35:36untouchable for a decent price. And it's one that I haven't gotten it yet,
- 35:40hopefully going to get it soon, hopefully, like I said, they
- 35:45re release it. For one that I ended up did getting is a It
- 35:50was a pink on pink Brett Hart figure. And I always love that Brett
- 35:54Hart anytime he wore his black on black or his pink on pink attires.
- 36:00Actually really loved that that aesthetic for him. And they had made a tellme
- 36:06It ten years ago now maybe a little bit less, but they had made
- 36:12a defining moments of Brett Hart. He was in I believe it was I'm
- 36:15sorry. It was a Ringside exclusive Brett Hart and it was a pink on
- 36:20pink attack what it was called that sort of looked incredible. I never got
- 36:25the opportunity. I had the chance. It was orderable on Ringside collectible at
- 36:30the time, and I just once again just didn't even think that it'd be
- 36:34such a sought out figure in my eyes, And not until recently they re
- 36:39released a couple of pink on pink bread hearts, and I was able to
- 36:42finally get one that it satisfied me enough where I'm like, this is good
- 36:46enough, I'm cool with this. I finally got a pink on pink bread
- 36:51cart that I was on for ten years or so, So that's probably the
- 36:55one I would go to me for sure. You gotta get yourself our truth
- 37:00judgment day. They gotta pump that out quick man, you know. That's
- 37:06That's the one downfall too, is sometimes with wrestling figures, the turnover is
- 37:09so long that by the time the figure of the character comes out, they're
- 37:13not in that gimmick anymore. And it almost happens so much that I think
- 37:17that they do it on purpose, have a little bit of a conspiracy behind
- 37:22it, because it just happens way too much. It's like, come on,
- 37:24I feel yeah, it's a little different between trying to we're trying to
- 37:29tool the whole action figure versus like pumping out a shirt. You can print
- 37:31up a shirt and capture a moment and a heartbeat. We've seen w W
- 37:36do that countless times, from the feeling oossy to yeat and damn and Mommy's
- 37:42always on top the countless shirts behind came so quickly, like the the the
- 37:53scribbled out or whatever, yat blurred one. Yeah, so quickly. Yeah,
- 38:02versus an action figure when you're trying to you know, that's a whole
- 38:07mold you have to create, and this and the third is not like he's
- 38:09not like you can sit there and take all, right, well we got
- 38:12this our troop and it looks just like that, So just just swap the
- 38:15color palette and make it this. The noise work that way, Oh you
- 38:19probably could. The man fucking never ages. That man's in his fifties,
- 38:23and he does not look like he's in his fifties. He does not move
- 38:27like he's in his fifties. He's still he still got it. Our truth
- 38:30is on TV right now. That's what's most important. That man is getting
- 38:35airtime, and he's the number one merchandise sailed right now. He overthrew sampunk.
- 38:43That's incredible. Fucking bananas, dude. The man has held the twenty
- 38:46four I don't know any other wrestlerhos held the title that many times. Doesn't
- 38:51matter what the title is, I don't give a fuck. Nobody's held at
- 38:53a title as many times as that man and can go away as long as
- 38:59that man can and come back and become number one merchandise sales and insert himself
- 39:02into like a big storyline of a stable and then just and then he can
- 39:07just go away for you know, a couple of months and do the same
- 39:10thing again. Our truth is fantastic. I'm so glad he's arrested that they
- 39:15never let go. You know. Yeah, he's fantastic. He's somebody.
- 39:21He's so he's a gem. He's a pure gem. Every time he's on
- 39:23screen, he he cracks every time. So with with your collection, are
- 39:30are you getting to the Matt car Cardona Cardona Zach Ryder stage? That's what
- 39:37I can't pronounce his name correctly, Zachary. Are you getting to that stage
- 39:39now where you're gonna have you're obsessed with with certain ones that you need to
- 39:45get. I don't know. He's like a whole other level from what I've
- 39:49seen with Action Ergers and when he spends on him Mike. Yeah, he's
- 39:53he's definitely. I think he's called himself the Godfather of collecting. He's for
- 40:00sure someone that has a mind blowing collection. I can't say that I'd be
- 40:06that, Uh, that determined, I guess to say, to get everything
- 40:13that he has in his collection. It's definitely respectable that that he does all
- 40:17of that to get all of that. I can't see myself getting that far
- 40:22just because oh I don't know that that's a lot. It takes up a
- 40:27lot of space now that I had imagined with the collection of his magnitude is
- 40:32warrants a few rooms in the household. Yeah, I mean I kind of
- 40:39right now have most of my stuff contained in my office. Outside of the
- 40:46office, like the liver room. Around the house, I have canvases and
- 40:51paintings and stuff like of you know, like like the liver rooms, like
- 40:55movies theme, like you know, I have movie theater stuff. And then
- 41:00you know, throughout the house, I have like maps from video games and
- 41:04and like just art I don't know, like video superhero artwork and stuff,
- 41:08Star Wars stuff. But other than that, I keep all my action figures
- 41:13in one space. I'm so running out of space. But I see how
- 41:16you have yours. But I also play VR in here, so I can't
- 41:22go to the extent that you do. But I'm thinking about it and just
- 41:24saying SCREWVR. And because I'm running out of space. Every time we go
- 41:30out, I'm always looking for new action figures, and I always come home
- 41:35with something. And Christmas time, my god, Like I was at Ali's
- 41:42the other day and not the other day around Christmas time, and the toys
- 41:45were like so cheap, and oh man, I pick up action figures like
- 41:51you know the ones that I'm missing. I'll tell you right now, kids,
- 41:53the action figure is that nobody fucking wants that sat there even went down
- 41:58to like off, they were cheap as shit. Nobody wants the Eternals.
- 42:04The whole collection was there, if everybody, I feel bad for that line.
- 42:07That whole line is. I do feel bad, but I know this
- 42:10is a wrestling podcast. I'm gonna spit something right now. It's like nobody
- 42:15the whole collection. You could have bought the whole collection of the Eternals right
- 42:17then and there, probably like under fifty bucks all of them, and yeah,
- 42:23nobody wanted them. Nobody just wanted them. And I'll tell you what.
- 42:29Let me know if you guys get this feeling too, have you ever
- 42:30got have you guys ever been to like, I know, like a a
- 42:36store or like a market or a flea market or something and you see like
- 42:43either one of two things. You just see a really old action figure or
- 42:46a wrestler that you know nobody's gonna probably buy and you just laugh at it,
- 42:51or you see like what they're like fake wrestlers, Like they're like,
- 42:55oh, this is mister strong Man and it's like like a fake wrestler.
- 43:00It's like you really and this guy looks like a Knockoffhull Coogan or something like.
- 43:05Yeah, you guys have come across that kind of stuff. Yeah,
- 43:09like in the old dollar stores. Uh. It actually makes me think of
- 43:13a specific memory of when I was younger and I would visit my grandparents and
- 43:16they lived in Brooklyn and stuff like I was mentioning earlier, uh, and
- 43:21they would be like a lot of clearance stores and they would always have like
- 43:24a four pack and to be like mister USA and before coving clearly and you
- 43:30know, showboater and it's like clearly like a Rick Flair looking guy, mister
- 43:34Mysterious and it's like a guy that looks like Sting or something, and it's
- 43:37like, Okay, those they always make me laugh, those those little I
- 43:42guess dollar store dollar General wrestling figures. Yeah, now do you do you
- 43:47have the wrestling ring? So I do have a ring. I currently have
- 43:52it in a closet in the other room because it is twenty by twenty so
- 43:59it's freaking huge as far as just I can't really put it anywhere right now.
- 44:04It is something that I do plan on working into the second version of
- 44:07the Risk and Display. I don't want to give away exactly what idea that
- 44:12I'm going on with it, but it's something I'm going to try to work
- 44:15into the display because I think it just looks really cool with everything going on
- 44:20to that. But a bring somewhere with there. You said twenty yeah,
- 44:24so it's twenty inches by twenty inches. I have a team measure right here
- 44:28in my hands. That's a good size. Damn. Like professional rings are
- 44:36twenty by twenty feet. Now you have a twenty two twenty inches Like that's
- 44:39that's that's dude, that's crazy. Like that takes up my whole Like that's
- 44:45too much. I can't fin that shit on my desk. Yeah, it's
- 44:47huge, and I've tried to put it in certain areas and I'm like,
- 44:51no, it's just it's just too big. Even I try. I have
- 44:53one of those officially three, but of those Ikia d loft shelves, they're
- 45:00all glass and they have the tops, and it doesn't even fit nicely on
- 45:04top of one of those. It hangs off and where I have my d
- 45:07loss right now, it just doesn't really look So I'm gonna try something.
- 45:10I might end up having to uh saw it in half. It's a little
- 45:14spoiler alert. I guess right there to kind of fit it in and make
- 45:17it look interesting enough. But we'll see. That's honestly probably something I'm not
- 45:22gonna work until December, maybe, knowing with with how everything else is going
- 45:27here, I'm gonna take some time off once the Superhero display that I have
- 45:31going on all multiverse thing is done. I'm gonna spend a lot of time
- 45:35basically filming and photographing that before I start working on a whole another display that's
- 45:42cool, Like do you like? I do it? Do you like?
- 45:45We'll just be rand seeing your room and like, you know what, I'm
- 45:47gonna tinker some toys. I'm gonna move this guy here, move this guy
- 45:52there, move this guy. Oh yeah, tinker oh that that sometimes can
- 45:59open up a can of worms, because I've in the past have just said,
- 46:05you know what, I'm like, move him over a bit, and
- 46:07then I've moved someone else over and moved someone else over, and then all
- 46:10of a sudden there's space now for new things. And it's like, oh,
- 46:15what I do, Eric, what'd you do? Now? You know,
- 46:16it's two in the morning, and you've been working on this now for
- 46:21the last half hour, and you've you know, you've gone through all three
- 46:23Lord of the Rings and you know you've just just continue posing. And so
- 46:30sometimes I have to like check myself to be like, it looks good.
- 46:34It looks good. You know, people come over to my house and like,
- 46:36dude, it looks good. But I try to get as many cool
- 46:39ideas out there as I can't try to make it look as best as I
- 46:43can for what I have. But yeah, I end up sometimes just going
- 46:47a bit overboard, overposing too much and just being like, leave it alone.
- 46:53What is your what is your earthquake situation? Like there, Like if
- 47:00you have an earthquake, are we picking up a lot of action figures off
- 47:02the ground like my house? So I always anytime I set up these displays,
- 47:08I always try to think of stability over practicality. Maybe I'm saying that
- 47:15maybe wrong. It's okay, but I just always try to think of stability
- 47:20because there is a garage on the other side of the wall, so when
- 47:24the garage door open, sometimes the wall does vibrate just a little bit.
- 47:29In the past, I've had to pick up figures they like just fall,
- 47:32but I try to brace them as much as possible. I use rope light
- 47:37clips that are used just to literally clip rope lights onto you screw them into
- 47:43the wall, and a couple of years ago I found that they fit great
- 47:46onto basically every single action figures angles or wrist or like elbow or knee or
- 47:52biclele. Yeah, so that's how I actually have all of them pose.
- 47:58So if you go on my profile you could see Actually I think I pinned
- 48:01the clips that I actually use so people can go and get them. Appreciate
- 48:05you get them at Amazon. That's where I believe a few other people that
- 48:09told me they've gotten them from I originally got I originally got them at Home
- 48:14Depot. They're in the lighting section, which like a twelve path or something.
- 48:19But yeah, that's what I used to basically click them onto the wall.
- 48:23So between that and Puddy the Little Blue putty that Honestly, I first
- 48:30learned about this stuff from when I was in school and high school teachers would
- 48:32put up like posters and stuff with it because it's removable and you can It's
- 48:37basically like a blue little silly puddy almost, and that holds stuff in play.
- 48:43But recently the toy community has told me about a couple other things that
- 48:45I can use, like museum wax, which is clear, which is something
- 48:50I got to invest in because it looks great and it also holds things in
- 48:52place. So between that and the clips and making sure things not only look
- 49:00cool, Blake said, at least there's some sort of balance. I have
- 49:02to make sure you know that it's not gonna fall. Then that's pretty much
- 49:08how I get them all to stay. All that being said, if we
- 49:14ever have an earthquake in Florida, you're gonna have bigger problems than that freaking
- 49:17those figures. That's another thing too, for sure, if there's an earthquake
- 49:22here, I'd gotta like earthquake hits Florida. Something's gone horribly wrong with this
- 49:29planet. Absolutely. Maybe that's why it's so safe to set them up there.
- 49:35You know, it's probably the safest place to send them up right now,
- 49:39potentially hopefully, I fear so Florida's like Swiss cheese. So I feel
- 49:45like a sinkhole, because god forbid, I wouldn't know what piece of my
- 49:49collection to save, and I'd probably saved my cats first, and two lovely
- 49:53cats that I'd probably just throw in the garage really quick and throw in the
- 49:58car. But besides that that, I'm not sure. Maybe Galactus, I
- 50:01guess, because I paid a lot of money for that one, so I
- 50:05always think what am I gonna grab? Yeah, it was a hurricane season.
- 50:08Now that's something to worry about down there, Yeah, for sure,
- 50:12for sure, thankfully, knock on wood, My family and I have been
- 50:15blessed to not have had so much damage or or have been so much of
- 50:21a victim directly any hurricanes, other than maybe some powder power averages. But
- 50:27yeah, that's something too. It's like, well man, hopefully hopefully it
- 50:30never happens. But but either way, I mean they probably still bring braced
- 50:35onto the wall with how sturdy I latch them on? There? M I
- 50:39thought hurricane season was over. I understood there, all right. Yeah,
- 50:50so like, are you are you in any wrestling video games? Like does
- 50:54that like to say I love them. I love them. Yeah, So
- 51:00I don't have I don't have the aw one. Mainly I just didn't like,
- 51:06Yeah, it didn't like how it looked. And I understand it's like
- 51:08a throwback to the N sixty four days, but I was just like,
- 51:13not for me. I love to use WW two K for the simulation purposes.
- 51:19I love it. So that's literally what I do sometimes, Like if
- 51:22I'm off and I got nothing going on, I'll just work on my collection
- 51:27and I'll just simulate a bunch of tournaments or royal rumbles and stuff, and
- 51:30I'll download. There's like an amazing community of creations that I'm like, these
- 51:36look like the actual wrestlers. Like these people make these like double mgfs that
- 51:40are like mind blowing like artwork. I'm like, he's look insane. So
- 51:45I just, you know, download him and do my e feds and stuff
- 51:49like that. But yeah, big, I'm big on them. I can't
- 51:51wait, actually to see what they do with the new WWE. I know
- 51:52they just announced a couple of things today. I think maybe I'm not really
- 51:57too sure, but very soon the new details on this year's game, which
- 52:02i'll probably get I always get the wrestling games. I always play the campaign
- 52:07and then I find all the bugs and it pisses me off. And you
- 52:12know they do they do things like, you know, we'll make the decision
- 52:15for you, even though we allow you to make decisions the entire game of
- 52:20your wrestling career, But if we want to fuck you over, we're gonna
- 52:23do it automatically and not give let you fucking choose. Like if we want
- 52:28to screw you over with the money in the bank briefcase cash in, we're
- 52:31gonna screw you over. We're not gonna give you a chance to defend yourself.
- 52:36Sorry. Some video game two K drama I do the community creations I
- 52:46agree with. It's crazy, how you know, like some like I don't
- 52:52know, some like twelve year old kid can make a better version of what
- 52:55two K did? You know? It's like dode. They just all they
- 52:59did was re released this wrestler with a different outfit, but yet they made
- 53:02it look better than you guys did. Yeah, it is. It is
- 53:07crazy with those two K games. You know, there's always something they just
- 53:12can never nail it. My opinion was is because they would always have to
- 53:17the same thing happened. I know we're getting a little controversial now, but
- 53:22the same thing happened with like Call of Duty and stuff. I think because
- 53:24if you feel the need to have to pump out a game every year,
- 53:29I feel like the quality is missing. And you know, I was hoping,
- 53:37yeah, when we went to two K, I got excited, and
- 53:39then the first version of two K dropped and I was disappointed. I know
- 53:45there was one year after that. I didn't get it. I got last
- 53:50year's. But it's like, how can we not just sit down in a
- 53:54room and just take a poll from each one of the wrestling games we made
- 54:00the pass, Like what was the best quality of all these games? What
- 54:02is what are people raving about? Why do people keep going back to Smackdowns
- 54:07Know your Role or SmackDown Shut your Mouth or the original SmackDown versus raw games,
- 54:13or you know, or old like an old WCWA, Like why do
- 54:16people go back to these old games? Why don't we figure out what people
- 54:21liked about them and you know, update it and modernize it. You know,
- 54:27I always thought that, why don't you guys just work on a really
- 54:29good game and then just have DLC every year, Like I understand. You
- 54:37know, Johnsena changes his shirt every time it comes back. I don't I
- 54:39don't need to buy a new game. Just give me the DLC. Just
- 54:43give me thirty versions of John Cena. I'll pay, like, you know,
- 54:45whatever the micro transaction is. You know, Grand Theft Auto didn't come
- 54:51out with a new game every year. They stayed relevant all the way from
- 54:53like twenty thirteenth till now. They just micro transaction everything to stay afloat.
- 55:00And that's that's you know, why couldn't WW do that with their games?
- 55:04Just update rosters. There's money in that in that process if they did that.
- 55:13If they did did that, I'll almost bet you they would. W
- 55:16W would almost go the uh Warcraft route, where you'd almost have to subscribe
- 55:22to the game rather than just buying a single simple product because the when that
- 55:28game comes in and that development cycle and the cost that goes into developing it,
- 55:34I don't know that it would be even be sustainable to do just a
- 55:37single release and then just update it like you pay for the update. People
- 55:43would just be like, yeah, I don't know that there would be a
- 55:46enough incentive to pay for the updates. So it's like, what the two
- 55:50K, the twenty three roster comes and you have to buy the update,
- 55:53Like, what are you really getting? Oh? Now you get Baca Bellair.
- 55:58On the SmackDown side, it's like, who cares, I already got
- 56:00Bianca Bellair. If I want to have Bianca Bella e versus Becky Lynch,
- 56:02I can do Bianca versus Becky. I don't need to pay for the update
- 56:07for that, or just for a new reskins. So, I mean,
- 56:09I understand why they You kind of have to do the model of, you
- 56:14know, a new game every year, as much as it seems impractical,
- 56:19and yeah, it would probably be much more gamer friendly to just put the
- 56:22game out and then update the roster periodically. It's just I understand the business
- 56:29aspect as well, and I think if you did it, you do almost
- 56:31have to go to, like I said, a subscription type service where you
- 56:35subscribe to like the WWE universe, the game, and you pay X amount
- 56:40of dollars a month play this game and it's some online thing and you can
- 56:45wrestle anybody anytime yaha, yeahdah blah blah blah, and then that is live
- 56:51updated periodically. But yeah, it's not a bad idea. For even a
- 56:57separate game. Yeah, w W E M M O right basically, yeah,
- 57:04everybody creates their own wrestlers, and you have a lot of events like
- 57:08alright, this Friday, we're having a love event, Royal Rumble or something
- 57:12like that, and you know, you get in the lobby with twenty nine
- 57:15other people. Yeah. Actually I would that friends come over and I would
- 57:24have them, like if we threw a party or something, It's like,
- 57:27all right, dude, like you know, everybody's gonna enter the rumble,
- 57:30so like we'd be just hanging out and chilling talking and wait until you hear
- 57:35your theme music hit. Or we would do like set up tournaments and stuff.
- 57:39I always thought wrestling tournaments were always fun with friends, especially like when
- 57:44you do a tournament, you could do like you know, if it's just
- 57:46one on one fightce, you could just set up like, you know,
- 57:50sixteen people. But you know, however many people you have at a party,
- 57:53you know I've done that before. That's awesome. Now do you do
- 58:00get wrestling merch too? Like gear like shirts, any wrestling titles, Like
- 58:05what kind of other wrestling stuff do you collect? So I also have so
- 58:09much like yourself, I don't dabble in pops, and for the very same
- 58:15reason, I know that I would buy far too many pops. Oh yeah,
- 58:21I greatly appreciate them being bought for me. I just know if I
- 58:25started collecting it would become an obsession. Yeah yeah, they the amount of
- 58:31licenses and ips they have, it would be way too much money going into
- 58:37that for myself and I just can't do that. But so I do have
- 58:42a couple of wrestling shirts, so I try to get at least one shirt
- 58:45for every wrestler that I like. I'm not obsessive as it as I am
- 58:51with wrestling figures, not at all, but if I go an event,
- 58:54I like to get, you know, a shirt from the event of whoever's
- 58:59I'm card, you know, a w or w W. I'm fortunate by
- 59:04me NXT does local. They do their local up circuit me. So there's
- 59:12actually a little armory by me that that they hold house shows, so I
- 59:19try to go there. It's like ten minutes away, so I try to
- 59:22go there every time they hold the show, and I'll always buy a shirt
- 59:24from there if they have a superstar from an XT that I like there.
- 59:30So yeah, other than figures, really just and they had no belts.
- 59:34I don't know why. I just there are a lot of money and it's
- 59:37something that I never really wanted to have in my collection. If someone got
- 59:45me one, that'd be awesome. I've got a couple of belt designs that
- 59:47I absolutely love, like the Undisputed titled from back in This Depression Error but
- 59:53there was such a beautiful but yeah, but I don't have any though belt.
- 1:00:00But yeah, shirts I got it. Definitely a couple of shirts,
- 1:00:02but I love yousally wear them all around a year round. Yeah. I
- 1:00:08have a huge collection of wrestling shirts and a lot of them are just from
- 1:00:14like, you know, when I was younger, and I can't fit to
- 1:00:15them anymore. So it's like I go to my girlfriend, like, well,
- 1:00:21you know you could wear these now, like I can't wear them anymore,
- 1:00:23and like, you know, I'm not gonna She's like, well you
- 1:00:27get rid of them? No, no, no, no no no.
- 1:00:30You do not get rid of a I'm a Sexy rock Star Chris Jericho shirt.
- 1:00:37You know, you know you don't get rid of a shirt like that.
- 1:00:39You don't get rid of a Yes Movement Daniel Bryan t shirt. Okay,
- 1:00:44you don't get rid of a class sic DX shirt. You don't get
- 1:00:47rid of that kind of stuff. You keep it, you know, I
- 1:00:51have absolute And it's kind of funny too, because sometimes you don't realize you're
- 1:00:55a fan of somebody until you look into your closet. And sometimes I was
- 1:01:00just I remember a time where I just I hated, not really, I
- 1:01:05don't know. Hated is just the word I would choose, Like, look,
- 1:01:08I don't know, I got tired of seeing Johnson's face for a hot
- 1:01:12minute and the ruthless he was just in my face. And but iage yeah,
- 1:01:20but I go in my closet, looks like god, damn bolfredy pebbles
- 1:01:22is spilled over because there's there's colors of John Cena, hustle, loyalty and
- 1:01:25respect going through my closet. Word Life. I have the like his WrestleMania
- 1:01:31word Life shirt. You know, I have the tons of Johnsena shirts.
- 1:01:37And it's like, damn, I guess I'm a fan, you know,
- 1:01:40like, how did it come to this? How do I have like ten
- 1:01:45Johnsena shirts? But now, oh, now PCW has their own merch on
- 1:01:53Pro Wrestling Teas dot Com. So now the new thing for me is.
- 1:01:59I got to collect them all. I gotta get all the PCW shirts.
- 1:02:02I gotta get the the original logo. I gotta get the nWo version.
- 1:02:07I gotta get the d X version. You know, you gotta get the
- 1:02:10the standard peep shirt. You know. I gotta get them all, and
- 1:02:15I gotta get them larger because I want to be able to, uh you
- 1:02:20know, when I when I put this, when I cultivate more masks,
- 1:02:24I want to still be able to fit into my PCW shirt. So if
- 1:02:28you ever order a PCW shirt, I recommend maybe because they're cotton, ordering
- 1:02:32them one size larger. Yeah, yeah, yeah, But what else do
- 1:02:42we want to talk about? I guess I guess you don't have a collection
- 1:02:45of DVDs and vhs anymore because now you can get everything on Peacock, right,
- 1:02:50I mean you pretty much they've got everything on there and b some DVDs
- 1:02:54or something. I was never really one to buy. I do have a
- 1:02:58couple of their documentary We have the Shawn Michaels and got another one. I
- 1:03:05don't know what it is. Might be the matis still on, I believe,
- 1:03:08but but yeah, as far as DVD's, I've never been going to
- 1:03:12get them. You can pretty much get everything on Peacock now. And when
- 1:03:15they announced the network at first, whenever it was many years ago, it
- 1:03:20was that was the moment that I was like, yep, never buying any
- 1:03:22wrestling tapes, DVD, no, none of that. No more so yeah,
- 1:03:28all things wrestling. That was probably the one thing I did collect a
- 1:03:30little bit of. For maybe about a year or two, I had a
- 1:03:34run where I was snatching up those DVDs, like right around towards the tail
- 1:03:39end of the attitude They're like, I got the WrestleMania eighteen DVD, I
- 1:03:45got WrestleMania twenty and right in that area when they were coming out with like
- 1:03:49a bunch of the superstar DVDs like Stone Cold, Steve Auston, what I
- 1:03:53got that? When I got The Rock I got uh Rick Flair one,
- 1:04:00which was like I think a three DVD set. I got the Hulk Hogan
- 1:04:02one. I got Brett Hart Road Warriors. I got a Chris bin Wah
- 1:04:10one. Ye. Uh what else? I wid? Who else do I
- 1:04:14have? Uh? Do I have a mikefolder? I don't know. If
- 1:04:16I have a micfoldy one, I don't know. I'd have to go back.
- 1:04:20I got them all in some plastic crates somewhere. That's, like I
- 1:04:23said, a bunch of those old wrestling DVDs from that time frames. Some
- 1:04:28were better than others. I got Monday Night War I got that one,
- 1:04:30yea, Yeah, some were better than others. Yeah, I don't know
- 1:04:34what it was at that time. I just went on a run of just
- 1:04:38collecting them when they came out. Yeah, And I don't know why how
- 1:04:42I missed Wrestlelming in nineteen, like I got eighteen and twenty but didn't by
- 1:04:46nineteen. I don't know why. Yeah, like a lot of those movies,
- 1:04:54some of you can't find anywhere like that, Chrispin might want to hold
- 1:04:57on that one might be worth something someday, uh, because another good one
- 1:05:01that's hard to find, the Self Destruction of the Ultimate Warrior. I don't
- 1:05:08remember. If I haven't I remember the time that that came out. Yeah,
- 1:05:12honestly, I think that might have been one that I skipped by.
- 1:05:15I don't remember if I have that one or not. I don't regret getting
- 1:05:18not getting too as well, because that one was so whoa, it was
- 1:05:26clearly properly it was so much propaganda in it, but clearly they put that
- 1:05:30one out with an agenda. Yeah. Yeah, it's like, let's trash
- 1:05:33talk the motherfucker as much as we can, like holy crap, and then
- 1:05:36like you know, fast forward, like you know, god, seven years
- 1:05:42later, then you know, they bury the hatchet. It's just like I
- 1:05:45know, man, I kinda I think if I was, if I was
- 1:05:48worried before that Hall of Fame, I kind of would have watched that movie
- 1:05:50one more time and like I don't forget, I don't forget, but that's
- 1:05:58like another movie, Like I wanted to watch it again, but I can't
- 1:06:00find it anywhere unless I need to buy it for off of eBay or some
- 1:06:03shit. And since he's dead, it's even more money. But you know,
- 1:06:09and I do, Yeah, I kind of regret not buying that when
- 1:06:12I'm pretty sure I did not, because I felt like it was propaganda and
- 1:06:16fel if people are like groage sales, you know, pawn chops even like
- 1:06:21have old wrestling deitys and stuff like look through them, like there's some of
- 1:06:26them that you just Peacock will not show or another good thing is Peacock also
- 1:06:31changes music rights to a lot of things. We recently just watched WrestleMania in
- 1:06:36nineteen and I was on revisiting the Mania podcast and we were talking about how
- 1:06:44they changed h I think it was whul Cogan's music. Well, they are
- 1:06:48one of the music, the theme songs. They've changed it, you know,
- 1:06:53because times have changed, the rights have gone to other places. And
- 1:06:56this is weird that they can go back and just tweak it, and just
- 1:07:00enough that they tweak the theme music, the theme music of either a wrestler
- 1:07:04or the theme music of the pay per view. But if you go back
- 1:07:09and you have those DVDs like you had that forever, you know, you
- 1:07:12have Ben Wass stuff that you can't probably watch a lot of other places,
- 1:07:16or like a Ben wall documentary like it might be who knows, it might
- 1:07:21be that way of Chris Jericho too, like or some other wrestlers might get
- 1:07:26in some ship. Just there's certain stuff like that that you just can't get
- 1:07:30anymore, you know. Granted, I love Peacock to death, well not
- 1:07:36Peacock, but I love the idea that we finally were able to get wrestling
- 1:07:43all in one location. I'm not digging. Yeah, anytime I wanted to
- 1:07:48day, I can watch reminisce about any time error, any any wrestlers,
- 1:07:54certain point in his career, any pay per view that stuck out, Like
- 1:07:57I can just go back and watch it, and you know, some people
- 1:08:01take that ship for granted, but like you know, d Og is where
- 1:08:06it's at though. The DVDs and vhs, that's where you get all the
- 1:08:11the stuff that oh yeah before they especially back then, because they would put
- 1:08:16the DVD out usually within a month or two after, especially for like the
- 1:08:24pay per view DVDs, they would try to put them out least a month
- 1:08:26or two after it aired. That way, it didn't become you know,
- 1:08:30too outdated and or too irrelevant. Like I think I got the first a
- 1:08:36c W one night Stand. I think I've got that on DVD. That
- 1:08:42one, you know, one of the summer I got the Summer Slam with
- 1:08:45Brock versus the Rock versus Brock lesnar one. That's a good Summer Slam sable
- 1:08:53was on the poster of that one, right, Uh no, the cover
- 1:08:57the post of that one was just the Rock and Brock face. Oh yeah,
- 1:09:02that's the one that also had sewn Michael's return match. Yeah yeah,
- 1:09:09yeah, dude, that's awesome. Well, Eric, this has been great
- 1:09:14man. I'm so happy I came across you. It's great to know that
- 1:09:18we have another wrestling fan out there. You know, I want to attach
- 1:09:26your social media links to the post to the podcast when we drop this episode.
- 1:09:30I want people to come and find you. I want people to follow
- 1:09:33you and see. So you guys just got to take a look. Like
- 1:09:36I know there's some people like, oh, well I don't have the TikTok
- 1:09:40that the kids have. Well, you know what, you don't need to
- 1:09:44have an account to to go look. You can browse TikTok without an account.
- 1:09:48So I want to post it. Once you go up there, once
- 1:09:50you check it out, once you give him a follow, if you can
- 1:09:54get some likes, just go back and look at the progress of you know,
- 1:10:02your multiverse that you're doing, and it's ever growing. It's just getting
- 1:10:08larger. I'm excited to see where it goes. I hope we have you
- 1:10:12back on here. We do a lot of predictions and post shows, awards,
- 1:10:18ceremonies, news, blah blah blah blah. We do it all.
- 1:10:24So yeah, another person on another peep added to the show that'd be great
- 1:10:30again promote yourself. Eric, Where can people find you if they want to
- 1:10:34follow your stuff? Yeah? Absolutely, Well, first off, thank you
- 1:10:40so much for having me on the show. It's been awesome. Like I
- 1:10:43said in the beginning, it's always great to yap about wrestling with other wrestling
- 1:10:45fans. Just enjoy wrestling and I love, love, love doing that.
- 1:10:50Anyone can find me on either the TikTok if they want to check out the
- 1:10:55displays that I've got, what I've got coming in the future that is Articulation
- 1:10:59Station. Uh. Just one word on TikTok at Particulation Station. Uh.
- 1:11:03And then on Instagram you can find me at the Paper Champion on Instagram,
- 1:11:10and there I always share either wrestling memes, wrestling photos, and a couple
- 1:11:14other things that I'm working on that I plan on releasing in the future as
- 1:11:17well. Awesome, awesome, uh. Dre do you want to plug anything
- 1:11:23or do you want to ask Eric anything else? Before we head on out
- 1:11:25of here? Quick quick hit question wrestling questions before we Jane for sure?
- 1:11:33All right? First up, favorite wrestler, top three wrestlers of all time,
- 1:11:41personal favorite or who I think is the best three of all time?
- 1:11:47Who you think are the best three. I think that's harder. I'm gonna
- 1:11:51go with Sean Michaels. I'm gonna go with Daniel O'Brian. Uh. And
- 1:11:57I'm gonna go with Kurt Angle. God damn, I like Okay, I
- 1:12:02like this guy. Shit all right, So favorite match of all time?
- 1:12:13Oh gonna go Undertaker show Michael's WrestleMania twenty five. Nice. Nice, good
- 1:12:20choice. And lastly, if you can have dinner, and you can have
- 1:12:30any five people associated with the wrestling industries not just doesn't have to just be
- 1:12:38wrestlers. They can be wrestlers, referees, whoever. Any five people from
- 1:12:42the wrestling business at that dinner, dead or alive. Oh okay, wait
- 1:12:47you have off Who's who's picking up the bill? Because that's important. No,
- 1:12:53it doesn't matter. I'm not inviting Yo Kazuna and otis and stuff.
- 1:12:57If so, I would have I would have Vince mc man, I would
- 1:13:08have Uh, I would have Visit Man Senor. I would have five Let's
- 1:13:15see here, let me think this helped. Miss Man Senior is the first
- 1:13:18one I would definitely have at the table. I would have Eric Bischoff,
- 1:13:28I would have Jim Cornette, I would have I wouldn't have Vince himself.
- 1:13:38He wouldn't be either, because I got his father, and I'd rather hear
- 1:13:43his father's perspective, especially if I was going to bring him into current day.
- 1:13:46I'm thinking deep on this, so I also bring him into current day.
- 1:13:48There as a record for Gennantee, what his out take on the current
- 1:13:53landscape or professional wrestling is interesting Cornette, he gets a lot of flat which
- 1:14:00is reasonable flack, but I respect his mind and his hope for professional wrestling.
- 1:14:04I respect that a lot, Bishop, because I think they'd be interesting
- 1:14:09to have with those two. Next would be mm hmm. Next would be
- 1:14:21Teddy Long because I think people sleep on Teddy Long has probably had some amazing
- 1:14:28wrestling stories and he's been as a manager, obviously as the iconic general manager
- 1:14:34that he was on SmackDown, but he's probably has so much great stories to
- 1:14:39tell during that dinner. And then the last one would be Undertaker, just
- 1:14:46to have the veteran in there that has amongst all those other gentlemen, uh
- 1:14:54that has competed in the ring and probably has stories with those people, and
- 1:15:00you know, maybe stories that can delay it. I think that would be
- 1:15:02a very interesting dinner yeah, I could promise you Teddy Long and Taker have
- 1:15:06stories together because Teddy Long managed I believe managed Taker for a period of time,
- 1:15:14if I'm not mistaken, back in the old w c W days,
- 1:15:20I believe so not not not to meet Mark Callous well, I guess you
- 1:15:24was still meet Marcallus at the time. But yeah, I believe it was
- 1:15:26part of a version of the Skyscrapers. I could be wrong on that the
- 1:15:30whole time. Okay, nice, I know Teddy Long Obviously, Tedy Long
- 1:15:35managed a bunch of tag teams back in the day from Doom with Ron Simmons
- 1:15:40and Butcher Read and they also managed uh done What, Dangerous Dance Spivey and
