- 0:54dude, Welcome to four week disca out of the podcast where we always have
- 1:12a vendetta. This week we hit a review Episode H A B F zero
- 1:17two. It is the eighth episode of season seventeen of The Simpsons. The
- 1:21Italian Bob, I am Dando and I am guy. Excuse me, I
- 1:23just rocked up in my oldsmobile. You're oldsmobile in de but you're still rocking
- 1:27that awesome beanie of yours that you got all the way from Europe. Where
- 1:30was its specifically from in Europe? I forget now, I've got to look
- 1:34it up. Let's just say Tuscany, Tuscany else from Tuscany. Let's let's
- 1:38say Tuscan there. Now we have to let listeners know. Is there going
- 1:42to be a lot of offensive stereotypical Italian accents try attempted in this podcast today?
- 1:49No more, No more so other than this episode of the Simpsons.
- 1:52Yeah, that is Shue. Indeed that is Shoe and d But I hope
- 1:53you all had a fantastic Easter east of us last weekend here as we record
- 1:57this episode. Yeah, I had a good time. The kids had a
- 2:00great time. I actually went to the actual level and did some Easter bunny
- 2:04footprints throughout the house. Like the last minute thing. I was like,
- 2:07what can make this more easterish. I was like, okay, I've got
- 2:09a sieve. It's got a sieve with sif flower. Yeah, I got
- 2:13some flower and I just made Bundy. I cut out like a bunny footprint
- 2:15at a cardboard and took me about an hour when around the house and run
- 2:19the backyard on the trampoline, on the deck and the cubby house. And
- 2:23they loved it. But they were like at the end of the day because
- 2:24I just started eating it and Aliott's like, why has the bunny's footprints got
- 2:29flower on it? I was like, I have no no idea, mate,
- 2:30I no idea. You came from the factory. The factory. That's
- 2:35how the factory made him Father of the Year. Nonsense. Here, well
- 2:39done man. That's realise that the polar opposite wasn't my place, because I
- 2:46think on Saturday my mum had got lou the Lovely Louise a one of those
- 2:54gold wrap bunnies. Is it the limp bunny we were talking about the little
- 2:59Yeah, yes, yes, over and says oh, that's very nice of
- 3:02him, Mum, thank you. I don't want any eggs. You're not
- 3:06getting any eggs. It's like, okay, that's very no which which in
- 3:12all uns, he was all right by men. I mean, yeah,
- 3:15I think I'd sort of had my share of sweetness in so many ways.
- 3:21On the on the lead up to two East, you know, I went,
- 3:23I went all in on the hot Cross buns. This here. I'm
- 3:24normally not you know, I'm normally buy a pack and I'll have two on
- 3:30good Friday morning, two on Saturday, and two one East to Sunday,
- 3:34and that'll do me. This year, I was like, so many different
- 3:38varieties of hot cross bum to try apple and cinnamon. You put the words
- 3:43apple and cinnamon on anything you put on motor oil, and I'll buy it.
- 3:46And so I was like, hot damn. So did you try the
- 3:50fruitless ones? Though? No, no, I mean they also make boring
- 3:53ones. It just burns. It's just like burns on the bag, you
- 4:00know. I mean, I look, some people don't like fruit, and
- 4:01that's fine, but I'm like, no, I put more stuff in the
- 4:04bun, you know. So I was very big on the apple and said,
- 4:08and I was buying bags left and right, and then I realized,
- 4:11holy shit, East's coming to an end. Stuck up. They still make
- 4:14an hot gross It's like, oh, they're doing two for six, Okay,
- 4:16I'll take to you. But also some of the places doing like Cara
- 4:20Milk hotgross buns, which I believe I mentioned recently and I was like,
- 4:25oh damn, these are fine too, except the supermarket that specialized them.
- 4:30I think they went limited and you know they just yanked him off the shelf.
- 4:32So gapp to wait till next year for more of those. But yeah,
- 4:36I mean I didn't go all in on bunny footprints the way you did.
- 4:40But I had pretty nice Easter, thank you very much. Caught up
- 4:43with my family, caught up with the lovely Louise's family. Lou and I
- 4:46just did some hanging out and chilling on the couch and yeah, nice time
- 4:51was had boil. I like Easter, that's great, or kids have an
- 4:55absolute ball here they Basically I didn't want to go too hard. I think
- 4:58I mentioned last week on the chocolate. I was like, there's gonna be
- 5:00enough chocolate. So I've got on some little eggs and a couple of bunnies
- 5:02and things, but we gave them to presents instead and actually come up with
- 5:05this, I didn't come up with this genius idea. We went out eastern
- 5:09morning, right for breakfast with my parents and my sisters strict to this cafe.
- 5:13I'm packed in street here. They've never been before, but they had
- 5:15the menus right now, had to get the menus, and they always were
- 5:18not always usually laminated. Right. One side of was the menu the kids
- 5:23men Near the other side was a picture of just like a drawing it you
- 5:27can color in. And I'm like, this is a genius idea because kids
- 5:30can color this shit in, wipe it clean, and the next kid that
- 5:31comes and can color it in. We've been buying books like coloring books for
- 5:35the kids because they love coloring in right, like you know buzz light Year
- 5:40or just Disney or cars, whatever, dinosaurs, they do a few scribbles
- 5:44whatever, they color it in. Then within ten minutes they're going to get
- 5:46a new books. They're gone through all page especially Holy to Scribble Scribble of
- 5:48school. Right. I was like, wait a minute, why do we
- 5:50go buy these two dollar books from BW, tear out the pages, lamonate
- 5:56them at our office works and then they've got unlimited, forever, forever usable
- 6:00coloring pages. That was that was a highlight of my easter. You hacking
- 6:05the hell out of life here man. Now, now when we go for
- 6:09drives and wait, quick, grab your favorite picture, Graby text. They
- 6:11sit there coloring as we're drawing on my it's a quiet drive. Now they're
- 6:15quiet, they're occupied, they're having a good time. It doesn't matter because
- 6:18al you's always freak out. When Holly was coloring in his picture, she
- 6:21ruined my Picture'm right now, it doesn't matter, mate. You can just
- 6:24rub it out and start again. This is amazing. I think you should
- 6:28either well, no, you can't copyright this idea because you stole it from
- 6:31someone else. That's true. I literally said to Nicolada. I'm like,
- 6:38I'm like, I should literally go down to the Sunday market here in Geelong.
- 6:40No print off like ten a thousand copies of these dinosaur pictures something for
- 6:44a buck each. Lamonade. You can laminate them for like fifteen cents each,
- 6:46five times your money. Make your money, make some money, make
- 6:48some money, all a bit making money. But speaking of our making some
- 6:51money, you will be noticing, guys, if you listen to this podcast
- 6:55on the free feed, that there may be a few more ads in this

- 8:56Bob's Burgers podcast for free as well, so make sure you jump on board.
- 9:00Supported your palers Guy and Dando. But mister Davis, we are here
- 9:03today to talk about the Italian Bob first point I want to make. I'm
- 9:07glad that they acknowledged. They didn't even acknowledge, but Lisa just knew how
- 9:11to speak Italian from the get go. I was like, at least there's
- 9:13some consistency from that episode to this one. I was I was like,
- 9:16thank thank god, we've got the bit of the gone to new with the
- 9:22Yet no, I mean, yeah, that was a that's true. I
- 9:26don't know if I would have been picking knitz about that. I mean,
- 9:28Lisa is such a you know, a smarty pants that you probably go,
- 9:30yeah, she's probably picked up a little Italian somewhere along the way. You
- 9:33know, she knew that was a Fellini movie that was on the on the
- 9:35Dash camp. But I would have been annoyed though, if she didn't know
- 9:37how to speak Italian after just learning how to speak in the previous episode.
- 9:41That's what I would have been annoyed about. I get what you mean.
- 9:43I wholly agree with you. M Also, I liked this episode. I
- 9:48thought this was good, breezy fun. I must say. Yeah, I
- 9:52mean, you do love your stereotype, so I do. But you usually
- 9:58hate that, usually hate the Simpsons Go Abroad episodes. But I thought this
- 10:01one did a good job. I've not just been the Simpsons go to Italy
- 10:03and as random stereotypical shit happens. It actually had a story that fit the
- 10:07Simpsons universe as well, with Sacho Bob worked into it. That's correct.
- 10:11Yeah. And plus, I don't know, I mean the way they poked
- 10:16fun at Italy this time around, or had fun with the stereotypes, I
- 10:20don't know. Maybe it's because Italy's got a really dense, rich culture.
- 10:24In so many one we're all jealous of Italians, of course we are,
- 10:28but and that's not to disrespect any of the other countries, including Australia.
- 10:31It's actually the heritage Italian Italian Italy. Yeah, did they did they cut
- 10:39off the front part or the back part or is it just dando and done.
- 10:43I've no idea. I just know that my ancestors are on my mum's
- 10:46side of English, on my dad's side Italian. But we're like nothing Italian.
- 10:50Adult, you wouldn't know that we're Italian. Where as as it gets
- 10:52but back back back back back, back, back back back, we are
- 10:54Italian apparently. Okay, I'm going to reign in the stereotypes by I don't
- 10:58want to inadvertently and sold you or your parents or your parents parents or your
- 11:03dad's grandparents don't care. They don't care. There is what we call in
- 11:09Australia there as yobo as they get, don't worry as he has. Yeah,
- 11:15but yeah, continue you like, Yeah, I just felt that it
- 11:20was both poking a bit of fun at the Italian stereotypes but also kind of
- 11:24celebrating Italy as well. You know, I mean it seemed to have a
- 11:28real appreciation for the Italian lifestyle, shall we say. But I think you're
- 11:35one hundred and twenty five percent correct when you say that folding the Sideshow Bob
- 11:39story in there as well, I don't know it anchors or gives the story
- 11:45a little bit of weight and connectivity to the Simpsons universe. It just doesn't
- 11:50feel like, as you said, um, another the Simpsons go to so
- 11:54and so. It is that, of course, but at the same time,
- 11:58it also feels like we haven't forgotten where they came from and their history
- 12:01and all that kind of business. I thought it was quite different the way
- 12:05they approached it to the Simpsons family, particularly Homer. But usually when they
- 12:07go abroad, as the Simptons family go to places and they go do you
- 12:11mean you do things like this, and it's almost like it almost is like
- 12:13poking fun at the traditions of that country, where here it almost felt like
- 12:18every time I pointing it out, the Simpsons were looking dumb or just moronic
- 12:24for not appreciating the culture of Italy. I think the thing of it was
- 12:28most everyone seemed to really appreciate that the fact that they were in Italy and
- 12:33they really kind of reveled in at home. Was the only one who kind
- 12:35of, you know, dicked around a bit, and even then he didn't
- 12:37do it so about not so much as usual. I mean, I thought
- 12:41it was really nice that, you know, that Marge was making that nice
- 12:45speech that the toast, the big sort of feast, you know, I
- 12:48mean, the one where Lazy gets drunk, but you know, is that
- 12:52a new fans episode coming out that at least a coudro for goodness sakes.
- 12:58But you know, Bart knew a bit of Italian and didn't seem a whole
- 13:01lot of Maggie in there, but she was just there. Yeah, yeah,
- 13:05I know. I thought maybe that's what made me appreciate this episode more
- 13:11than other travelog Yeah episodes, the fact that there was a bit of appreciation,
- 13:15a bit of admiration and a bit of enjoyments of the of the culture
- 13:18of the place that they were visiting. And I like that they kind of
- 13:22added an extra sort of element to the site show Bob character by given in
- 13:24the family as well. Kill. I mean, the ending felt very flat
- 13:31to me. I thought the ending was a bit just like, ah,
- 13:31really after all of that, that's how it's going to end, just crust
- 13:33the drives off of them and in the limo that aside, I thought,
- 13:37leaving it open where it's just like, okay, well does that mean the
- 13:41Francesco fanco, Francesco sorry France, and Gino and bobyn going to try and
- 13:46hunt down Bart. I thought it works. It works absolutely, Yeah.
- 13:50Yeah. This was actually a sequel to the to the Great Louse Detective,
- 13:54which we reviewed. I think it wasn't last I think it was the season
- 13:56before, maybe even the season before that Side Show Bob basically gets framed.
- 14:03He wasn't the one who who was trying to kill Bart. It was Frank
- 14:07Grimes Junior. Remember that episode where it gets boiled in the sauna. I
- 14:11do, yeah, And and it ends with side show Bob singing the I've
- 14:15great accustomed to his Face song, which is one of the better songs post
- 14:18Golden Year of the Simpsons, and you know he's he's not going to want
- 14:20to kill Bart anymore. So this was meant to be a sort of a
- 14:22sequel to that, and I actually really enjoyed how I thought the story of
- 14:26how he ended up in Italy. It all just made sense. It was
- 14:30and in sort of throwing back to the fact that he's got the big giant
- 14:33feet and that being used to him becoming the mayor and things, I was
- 14:35like, there's been some there's been something like obviously mentioned Cott Newity at the
- 14:39start of this, but there's been some love and actually recognition of the past
- 14:43brought into this episode as well. Yeah, I mean, I don't know
- 14:46the way he ended up in Italy was a little silly, but not in
- 14:50not in a dumb way, just the kind of it makes sense that that
- 14:56Bob would like, I'm not no, no, anywhere I go anywhere the
- 15:00knife ends up, that's where I'm going, Like nope, nope, nope,
- 15:03Yeah, like okay, yes, chooses the one of the most lovely
- 15:07parts of the world. So I thought there was. I thought there was
- 15:09very funny and very cute. Um. Yeah, but you're right. I
- 15:13mean, as I said, it just feels connected to um if it felt
- 15:18because usually the ones where that God broad don't feel cannon, but this felt
- 15:20like it could be cannon, and going forward could be cannon because of the
- 15:24element of your family new characters. Yeah, that's right. Did you know
- 15:28Kelsey Grabber won the Emmy for this for Outstanding Voice Ever Performance. I did,
- 15:33indeed know that, because yeah, I think I think Kelsey was like,
- 15:37give me a lot of stuff that plays to my strengths here, you
- 15:39know, did you know that I sing it's like, and you know I'm
- 15:43not a bad opera Singer's yeah, I'll make Kelsey showing off the pipes and
- 15:46showing off all his all his various skills here. Yeah, I mean wholly
- 15:52justified him getting the Emmy for this. I mean, I think it's for
- 15:54his body of work as as sarjob sarjobob over the course of the series.
- 16:00I mean, he's he's a really good addition to the to the show.
- 16:03But Kelsey Grammer is good like that. I mean, you know, he
- 16:07added a little suddenly the cheers when he when he rocked up. I loved
- 16:11his guest appearances on thirty Rock, just playing himself and he sort of played
- 16:15in this It's I don't know how he had to describe how he played himself
- 16:19on thirty Rock. He was kind of this scam artist masquerading as an actor.
- 16:25Yeah, and it was. It was really great too. I mean,
- 16:27he knew what people wanted to see of his of the Kelsey Grammer forsona,
- 16:33but he also played against it very very well. He's a talented guy
- 16:37and I always enjoy watching him. Thirty Rock is a show that I'd love
- 16:38to go back and revisit some time because I remember when it was on.
- 16:41I just it was one of those shows that I had to download the episode
- 16:45that week, like I had to be up to date with thirty Rock.
- 16:47I loved thirty Rock the same. Yeah, I mean, I've got him
- 16:48all on on Blu ray or DVD. Yeah yeah. And Kelsey Yes.
- 16:52So he won it, So it was actually the first time that a guest
- 16:56I won it as a solo. So it was a third time a guest
- 16:59had won the Emmy for Best Voiceover Performance on the show, but the previous
- 17:03two were Marshall Wallace and Jackie Mason, and apparently they won it as a
- 17:06joint win with the rest of the main cast the first time the category was
- 17:10awarded at ninety two, so I guess the cast of The Simpsons won the
- 17:12award and ninety two, which I thought was odd. But this is the
- 17:15first time a guestar has won it on The Simpsons as just the guest star,
- 17:18not part of the main cast, which I thought was pretty cool.
- 17:21And also John Frank who wrote the episode. He won the Writers Guild of
- 17:25America Award for Outstanding Writing in Animation for this one as well, which deserves
- 17:30it. I thought it was, like I said, the ending was a
- 17:32bit just like and aware moments where I've sort of rolled my eyes. But
- 17:34overall, though, when you think of the stinkers we've had lately, this
- 17:38one's been pretty good. Yeah, yeah, look, not the deepest or
- 17:45most meaningful episode, but you know, sometimes I mean and sometimes that's good.
- 17:48But this just felt like a really light but to use an Italian stereotype,
- 17:52a light but tasty meal. Yea, it didn't feel like a Simpsons.
- 17:56It didn't feel like a Simpsons a broad episode. It felt just like
- 17:57an episode of the Simpsons pretty much. Yeah, hey, my favorite What
- 18:03were your favorite moments from the Italian Bob? It's an arsenal side gag,
- 18:07but when they landed a DaVinci airport, I love that all Da Vinci's flying
- 18:10machines were taken up the runway as well as the planes. I thought that
- 18:12was really neat. Um I sort of opened with one of my favorite bits,
- 18:18are everyone poking fun at burns is old Mabile mobileamobile and mine getting a
- 18:26really solid burn about your next car should be an old big no No.
- 18:30I just thought that was funny. It's a really obvious joke, but it's
- 18:33also you know, sometimes a really obvious joke is a really smart one.
- 18:37And I like that no one got it because I get the feeling everyone would
- 18:41get it. Everyone. I think everyone at home is probably going not bad,
- 18:45and every all the kids are like, now you and what is it?
- 18:48Nelson? Mister burd sucks and then he gets the big laugh, which
- 18:51gets the big laugh. But I think by maybe my favorite moment was the
- 18:56fact that this was an incredibly precitioned episode in that you know, they roll
- 19:03in the TV and they're watching Diversity Tales. I'm like, what is this
- 19:06twenty twenty three? But then later on as well, you've got wow,
- 19:11you've got that and a Trump joke. My favorite moment one was don't do
- 19:15Missolini? Him do a Missley was just like, fucking great, thought I
- 19:23was doing Trump. I thought, I'm not not usually one for political gags,
- 19:27but that one worked for me. I was like, that was pretty
- 19:30funny. Yeah, it's just hilarious that Trump. Well, I mean,
- 19:34when is he not in the news but being back in the news so much
- 19:38now? But that and Diversity Tales and I were just like, oh my
- 19:42god, I mean I get the vili If they did that thing now,
- 19:47you couldn't really get away with everyone going oh my god, this sucks.
- 19:49No, you couldn't. Indeed, I feel like, now though you roll
- 19:52that thing in, kids will be like, yeah, let's watch it.
- 19:55The thing is, I've noticed it, particularly the show out like we've got
- 19:57the know the welcome to the country now, so Elliott now he knows it
- 20:02by heart, you know, he's He's just like, oh, yeah,
- 20:03acknowledge these people. I'm like, this is a step in the right,
- 20:07god damn direction. I'm happy to certainly I'm not. I'm not thinking of
- 20:12I've heard it usually got welcome to the country, and you're saying it welcome
- 20:15to the country on the area like gunns, welcome to the country. Respect
- 20:21our elders about the present. We're not trying to offend people here. I
- 20:26am all about it, guys, like I am all about it. I'm
- 20:27pushing it to Aliott, like I love the fact that we went to the
- 20:30end of year thing for his day care last year and they all said the
- 20:33peace and everything and what I don't know by heart. I wish we will
- 20:36learn it in primis. But even when I was growing up, it still
- 20:37was not acknowledged anywhere near It was sort of starting to get sort of ingrained
- 20:42in our in our lifestyle. But now it's thankfully the kids. Hopefully when
- 20:47Aliott's having kids by that time. It's just like anyone who's racist in this
- 20:51country. Yeah, long gone hopefully fingers crust. But yes, I also
- 20:56really like speaking of m racist. I like the the robot when it makes
- 21:03the card. That was awesome of my favorite. A lot of good visual
- 21:06gags in this episode. They were I got to say, I was a
- 21:07little astonished. Well, I'm not astonished. I was thinking, you know,
- 21:11when they're making the what what what's the take on Lamborghini e Testa Rosa?
- 21:15But I may betty faster roussa or something. Isn't it faster ross than
- 21:18Yeah? I was thinking about four versus Ferrari. You know that movie with
- 21:22mad Damon CHRISTI? Yeah, great movie. And how you know they visit
- 21:26the Ferrari not show room? What do you call it when you make stuff
- 21:32workshop? The factory? Look at these hands that have never done a hard
- 21:37day's work in there. M'm it surely doesn't mean the word factory because he
- 21:41would know that stuff where they make stuff, And I'm just thinking about how
- 21:48it looked like a you know, do you mean the assembly line? Is
- 21:51that what you're talking about? Yeah, That's what I'm thinking of. Yes,
- 21:53it took meld the pot to get there because I am completely unfamiliar with
- 21:57these things. I did. I did that for eight straight years. Mate,
- 22:02ten Cows is just beautiful, and they feel like they've been sort of
- 22:03handcrafted, you know, like there was put together with a hammer and chisel
- 22:07as opposed to a robot. I mean what I think that's a line actually
- 22:11saying third year ock and something about Ali Boburn says something about it teens ages.
- 22:15They may have never won a war or figured out how to mass produce
- 22:18a workable automobile, but God bless her. I never appreciated cars until I
- 22:22worked at Ford. I'm like, the amount of work that goes into putting
- 22:26these things together, Holy Christmas. But you know, I still net.
- 22:30I've left Forward. Ford's gone in Australia, I'm just like, yeah,
- 22:33I'm not interested again. But at the time I was like all about it.
- 22:37But I feel like I felt you had to because I know nothing about
- 22:41cars, but I felt like if I was going to survive in that environment,
- 22:44I had to know something. Someone was I was having dinner with loose
- 22:48family the other night and someone started talking about cars and horseparro and I just
- 22:52I could just feel my head lighting like one of those clowns at the show.
- 22:55Yeah, sure, it certainly got that any more brain busters? All
- 23:03right, it's time for the blockbuster brainbuster for this week. So this episode
- 23:07aired mister Davis who got three newbies for the unth of the lead board this
- 23:11week. So we've got it's December eleventh, two thousand and five. What
- 23:15do you think one, two and three were. I've got some clues,
- 23:18all right, Clue number one, Wardrobe, clue number two, Godzilla,
- 23:22clue number three, oil similar eleven two Wardrobe, Godzilla Oil two thousand and
- 23:29five. Okay, Well, did the line the Witch and the Wardrobe come
- 23:32out in two thousand and five? Are we talking one of the sequel?
- 23:37It wasn't because the line of Witch and the Wardrobe, what's another name for
- 23:40it, Well, it's Chronicles of Nanny. Yes, that was number one.
- 23:44That was number one at the box office. Yeah, oh, so
- 23:45that's line. Is the line of the Witch in the world because there are
- 23:48a few, So the Chronicles of Nannier is that? I know that it's
- 23:52the same story, but it wasn't called the line of the Witch and the
- 23:53Wardrobe. There wasn't. Well that's the thing. It's like the Lord of
- 23:56the Rings, the Fellowship of the Room. Oh okay then yes, so
- 23:59okay, well that was the one at the US box office when this episode
- 24:00add number two clue is Godzilla? Was it King Kong? Yeah? Yeah,
- 24:06it's when Peter Jackson's King Kong came out. Yeah, forever. It's
- 24:10a long and that's true. Yeah, yeah, it's it's really a good
- 24:14one hundred and twenty minute movie in a one hundred and eighty minute movie.
- 24:18Oil oil, one word title. Oh um, it's it's Syriana correct,
- 24:26well done. Yeah, with George Clooney for which he won the Oscar Matt
- 24:30Damon. He did that's yeah, and also really injured himself. There's a
- 24:33scene in it where he's playing like a he's a spy essentially or a secret
- 24:37agent, and he's getting tortured and he's tied to a chair and when they
- 24:44were shooting the scene, he fell over backwards and clocked the back of his
- 24:45head. I think and Ye had really did a number and he had to
- 24:52have like major operations on his on his neck to get him seen to and
- 24:55he said, that's still hurting to this day. I'm well, at least
- 24:57he got an Oscar out of a George. So that's all right. But
- 25:00Sirianna, do you think when things like that happened though, that the story
- 25:03adds to the legend. Do you think that helps get the award when things
- 25:06like that go wrong? I reckon it might be the case, although I
- 25:07don't know how if he went public with it immediately, okay, although there
- 25:11may have been whispers around the way, it's like, you know, he
- 25:15really hurt himself doing that. Well, Jesus, everyone likes George. Let's
- 25:18throw him a little bowling trophy. But Sirianna, that's the third one.
- 25:22Yes, So Chronicles of Narnia, King Kong, and Sirianna were the top
- 25:26three at the US box office when the Italian Bob went to air. All
- 25:29right, two thousand and five, What a time to be alive. Next
- 25:33question, you there eating the beast Okey dokey trivia time, which means before
- 25:37we do that, it is time for some shout outs of our beloved supporters

- 27:18your first trivia question for me? Please? Right? Oh, then I'm
- 27:22jumping the gun a little bit here. But the couch gag is the Simpsons
- 27:27family as a well five card poker hand, shall we say? Can you
- 27:33identify which family member is on which card? Um Bart's the jack right,
- 27:41m Homer is the king yep, which would mean March would probably be the
- 27:48queen. I wonder what Lisa from Maggie up Lisa. There's Lisa the ace
- 27:53or the and then Maggie's the joker. All right, correct it? I
- 28:00was tossing. I was like, who was the joker? Who was but
- 28:03the joker? No, he's not the joking, he's the king. Yeah,
- 28:04there we go, he's the he's the joke. My first question is
- 28:07how many minutes did mister Burns request that they stand still for when he was
- 28:11taking the photograph. The photograph will takes seventy eight minutes? Would indeed?
- 28:15Yes, m In Diversity Tales, who was getting married? Oh? Man,
- 28:22I didn't pay attention to that. What was it? I do his
- 28:25own doubt Diversity Tales? Godell no, no, um, it's earth turtle
- 28:30and moon mongoose. I remember hearing earth thurt and I was like, that's
- 28:33going to be one that guy's going to use. We're going to write it.
- 28:36It's gone. I figured. My next question is Bob says every man
- 28:41deserves a something chance. What number was it? Oh? Oh god,
- 28:45damn, I think of unlucky? Is it or is it lucky? I
- 28:51think it's lucky. Actually, it depends on your point of view and thing,
- 28:53but I'm going to say thirteen, No, not thirteen. So what's
- 28:56the luck? What's the lucky number when you're rolling in? Oh? Seven
- 28:59seven? Yes, as you can say, I'm not a gamma. All
- 29:03right, what's your next question? There's a few of them, but I'm
- 29:07going to ask you to name four of the cheeses that roll at the Simpsons
- 29:15car. Is Mortadalla included? Even it's a part of the cheese insurance,
- 29:18I'm going to include it. But Mortdlla's not a cheese there, right,
- 29:21it's a meat. Okay, well, but that's I'm pretty sure I used
- 29:23to serve mort dalla in the daily and it was like me in it?
- 29:26Right? Yeah? Yes, good point, Good point, because yeah,
- 29:30it's one of those things I'm always thinking about. It's like the della that
- 29:33sounds nice. Is that a cheese or is it a meet? Yeah?
- 29:36I'm sure the olives in it and they used to hate it. Anyway.
- 29:38The other cheeses were I'm going to say, I'm pretty sure I'm not going
- 29:42to get any because I'm half asleep in doing daddy daycare all day. Is
- 29:47mozzarella one of them. It is Boccaccini was one, right, um,
- 29:55blue, I don't know what's smelly? What's what's the parmisan? Parmisan uh
- 30:00parme jan which I think that counts? Okay, yes, that's three right,
- 30:04that is indeed three? Did I ask before? Ask for? What
- 30:08I gave you? What a dollar? That'll look, that'll be right?
- 30:11What else you got from that is correct? In order? The Gorgonzola,
- 30:18my favorite cheese name, Gorgonzol. I don't think you've ever eaten any,
- 30:22but it's just a great word to say. Gorgonzola, fantine TiO Balcancini,
- 30:29and the notable non cheese mortadella mortadella. Yes, all right. My final
- 30:34question is what was the play that they were seeing at the end that Krusty
- 30:37was performing in. It's paliarci correct I did enjoy Krusty going through it,
- 30:41saying na na add this two acts. By the way, as is the
- 30:48way with Italian stuff, Paliati is actually plural for clowns. I think I've
- 30:52talked about this. We did, yeah, because well it was a gag.
- 30:56There's always the jag that I'm playing paliachi, the clowns like you're playing
- 31:00clowns. The clown that's going on. But it's like paparazzi is plural for
- 31:07paparazzo, one single photography paparazzo, but multiplezzi. I'm really offending the Italian
- 31:15contingent of our listenership, and my apologies to Miss Schools. At least you
- 31:22double down. That's all right, I'll triple down before these things though.

- 32:00thrive by heading to patreon dot com slash four finger discount link is in the
- 32:04description of this podcast. All right, so the ovisinal air date of the
- 32:09Italian Bob was December eleven of two thousand and five, Written by John Frank,
- 32:13directed by Mark Cokland and guest starred. We didn't actually mention this.
- 32:17Francesca was played by Maria Cocucci. Yes, know, mostly for what mister
- 32:22Davis. She was in a movie called Il Postino, which was a bit
- 32:28of a bit of a certain instation I think got nominated for the Best Picture
- 32:30maybe around nineteen ninety or so, really yeah, yeah, But also appeared
- 32:37in the World Is Not Enough, The James Bond Adventure from a few years
- 32:39earlier, from two from nineteen ninety nine. She was our cigar girl that
- 32:46she was credited as any not Monica Lewinsky, the chopboard gag that. Oh
- 32:53so we also had cast grammar of course the slash Bob and John Now we
- 32:58didn't. I don't remember this being a guest is it Johnschasa? Well,
- 33:04we don't known for his He's American actor, singer and spokesman. He's best
- 33:07known for his rapid speech delivery. Who did he play in this? He
- 33:09played himself? But when when did he play himself? Was he in the
- 33:12Diversity video or something. I don't think so. Was he confused? I
- 33:17knew about Kelsey and I knew about Mario graz Was he the guy at them
- 33:21at the car factory? Baby? I don't know anyway, So apologies apologies
- 33:25for missing that one. And that one. I saw that in the in
- 33:28the credits and I was like, I didn't pick up on that one at
- 33:30all. But the chortboard gag is that one's more jazzy. And the catch
- 33:32gags the one that guy I mentioned before in his tribute questions where they're all
- 33:36a deck of cards. And I did not get the couch gag when I
- 33:39was watching this on Disney Plus. He didn't, Okay, I did not,
- 33:45But then I looked on our friend Wikipedia, which said, hey,
- 33:46this couch gag. There's a blackboard gang. I always watch it on the
- 33:50on the DVDs when you and your fancy digital versatiles. I watched it on
- 33:57Disney Plus as well, but I was watching the debit at the Audio comentary
- 34:00as well. God bless those commentaries seriously got through some tough times. But
- 34:04the episode we're still be bringing in the television. That was always an exciting
- 34:07time in primary school when the TV gets wheeled in. It's like, yes,
- 34:12we've got to sit around and watch shit for two hours. Passive education.
- 34:17You knew, you knew when the TAJ had checked out at the end
- 34:20of the year, when the TV started getting rolled in. They don't want
- 34:22to do any more work. One thing I've noticed is I'm constantly whenever I
- 34:24pick up Elliott Now from Kinda, the kids are sitting in front of a
- 34:29television watching programs on TV, And I'm like, is this what Kinda is
- 34:32now? Just sitting around watching a screen? Yeah? I shouldn't you be
- 34:36doing some show and tell ship. Yeah, she's gone time arts and crafts
- 34:39and things. It's like other educational am I get that, But you're also
- 34:45an educator, so why don't you educating? Yeah? Here's the thing I
- 34:50could. I could easily do this education at whom. Yeah? But yeah,
- 34:55so it really brings in the PBS presents from the National Film Board of
- 34:59um of Canada. Wasn't it Canada? Yeah, swipes it PBS and Canada
- 35:05couch. But the PBS gave a Sesame Street and mister Rogers, Yeah,
- 35:08PBS is folly good stuff. I still say, mister Rogers. Still mister
- 35:13Rogers speech he's done a couple of times, but where he says, you
- 35:15know, he says, take a pause and think of someone that you love.
- 35:17If you know, that's that speech. Have you've seen it before?
- 35:20Oh look, I'm I'm I'm all over Fred Rogers. Yes, like that
- 35:23that speech where he's like, yeah, think about someone that you've that you've
- 35:25lost, and then he's like, they'll be so proud of you and thankful
- 35:29that you thought of them. And I was like, why am I crying?
- 35:30Why am I crying? Oh? No, that man is just onions.
- 35:35He's human onions. Yeah, but he just makes it crying to be.
- 35:37He's just it's like he's just a nice just so nice. And they
- 35:44and they portrayed him so weird in the movie. I'm like, this is
- 35:46shit. I still haven't seen it. I don't watch I still haven't seen
- 35:50Beautiful Day in the Name. But the portray they portrays this weirdo and he's
- 35:53just I don't know that because I think, Yeah, I think Hanks is
- 35:57good casting for it. Yeah, I mean he he resents yeah. And
- 36:01it's also it's it's based on I've definitely said this in the past. It's
- 36:06based on one of my no, I'll go all in it's it is my
- 36:10favorite piece of profile journalism of all time. Um, this Esquire article about
- 36:17mister Rogers called can You Say Hero? And you can look it up online.
- 36:22You can find it online. It is a beautifully, beautifully, beautifully
- 36:25written and reported piece of work. Really takes him to the life of Fred
- 36:30Rogers. But also the journalist wrote it, who I believe is like the
- 36:35Matthew Reese character in the in the movie. But I think they miss misrepresented
- 36:40him a bit, do they does? Does the article represent mister Rogers as
- 36:45quirky and odd and strange and a little quirkier than you might imagine, because
- 36:50this was sort of before the reclamation area where everyone everyone was like, I
- 36:54mean, everyone loved mister Rogers, but everyone was like, well he's a
- 36:58bit square, isn't Here's anyone really that good? And it sort of presented
- 37:02a more human picture of him as well. I mean, he was,
- 37:06you know, wonderful behind the scenes, but it was also like, this
- 37:08guy kind of make marches to the beach of his beat, of his own
- 37:12drummer a little bit. If you've got a fucking dope rhythm section, like
- 37:15mister Rodgers marched to it. Man, Yeah, you know, what about
- 37:17the video where the guy the kid who used to come in his show in
- 37:21the wheelchair and he comes out to give him a a water? What about
- 37:22the show mister Rodgers just like gets out of his chair just climb up onto
- 37:25the stage to give him a big hug. And I'm like, man,
- 37:28oh man, what a what? Just It's just like, is he like
- 37:30the greatest I'm sorry, is he just the greatest human being of all time?
- 37:35Like if we if we were all at mister Rodgers, man, what
- 37:36a world this would be? Well, that's true. I mean he's pretty
- 37:39good. He's no Brenda Nando's pretty good. Oh no, I've got my
- 37:43moments, don't you worry? Yes, diversity details and yes we've already discussed.
- 37:50It's like, this feels like a gag you would make now it really
- 37:53doesn't. Yeah, you know, pause here to discuss tolerance. I've got
- 37:58a big kick out of that. Missus Case suggested that a stare out a
- 38:04window instead, Like she's not interested in discussing tolerance either. She's like,
- 38:07I'm not doing any of this. Is where they see mister Burns with his
- 38:08old car and they all make fun of it, and he says it was
- 38:12the first car to outrunner man. One thing. I did take no offense,
- 38:15but I was just like, I roll with this moment here. So
- 38:19Nelson makes the gag here when mister Burns says it was the first carter Outrunner
- 38:22Man. Yeah, cave man. I thought of that because I slipped in
- 38:24a cave last night. I was like, there's been no follow up to
- 38:29the episode where his dad came back. We don't have never seen his dad
- 38:31since. I'm like, that was such a great ending and they've just thrown
- 38:36it out the window. I was willing to accept all this shit gags like
- 38:39this up to that point as long as we got the good payoff with his
- 38:44dad returning. But they've just gone back to them again. I'm like,
- 38:46ah, for all, it was good in this episode, and come on,
- 38:51mind, there was a lot that I really enjoyed. You also had
- 38:54a lazy Nelson gag like that. He had some cletus and I will say,
- 39:00I mean cutting to the chaise, come to the end a little bit.
- 39:02I will say how little Gino goes a long ways so annoying. It's
- 39:07trust mc neil voice, and it's a slight. H Maybe it's just kids.
- 39:12I don't know, but it's just he added nothing. He added nothing,
- 39:15He had no impact on the story. It was just an annoying kid
- 39:19yelling Vendetta over and over again. I was like, oh my god,
- 39:22that's yeah too much, Geno. Hey will not be lampooned by school children.
- 39:27Kill them, Smithers. You could just buy a new car, sir,
- 39:30But it is easier a new car. May I suggest an oldsmobile?
- 39:37Mister Burns sucks. They won't forget who mucked me. I'm taking your picture
- 39:44now. Who'll perfectly still for seventy eight minutes? This is where we're working,
- 39:54Homer. Here is I'm playing pushing the buttons, just like, what
- 39:57are these? Is it like a soundboard at the baseball? Dud? Dude,
- 40:01Well, I think it used to be an organ. It wasn't an
- 40:05organ, yeah, but I think now she's a soundboard. But just there
- 40:07wasn't a new episode of The Simpsons where it's like a imagine if we never
- 40:10had bart story and Homer's got a job, his dream job, which is
- 40:14at the baseball doing all the sounds and stuff. And I watched the episode
- 40:17and I was like, this would be a fun job just being the dude
- 40:20in charge of the sound effects at the sporting event. How else would that
- 40:22be? Listeners, you may like to think that this this show forething and
- 40:25discounts put together by dand and I was speaking into tin cans connected by a
- 40:30string. Not actually the case. We've both got. Well, I know
- 40:32I certainly have here, um, a road class A servo biased preampts effects
- 40:40on board. It's a it's a you got a roadcaster. I've got a
- 40:45roadcaster. Essentially, I could I could basically record letter B in my study
- 40:47yeah um um. And it's got these buttons on it that I haven't even
- 40:52touched yet. Yeah, but apparently they're ones that you know would go or
- 40:58which I really want. We can install those sound effects into your roadcast,
- 41:01so we can do that in future episodes, just a few. It does
- 41:04work better when we're both in the same room, because we're both in here
- 41:07on the same device. Yeah, I don't think you want to do that.
- 41:09I think you're not going to give you the sound effects. The whole
- 41:15setup of why they're going to Italy is pretty weak. You can take your
- 41:17family, It's like what I like that. Yeah, sometimes a lot can
- 41:22be you know, forgiven or explained by just a throwaway line. And what
- 41:28do you say something about it'll save me millions in Texas something like that makes
- 41:30sense? Yes, but why pick Homer of all people? What would you
- 41:35trust this in Besile to go to Italy and get this car for you?
- 41:37It doesn't matter that, nothing about that doesn't matter. At least they got
- 41:40another good thing was they got into it straight away. There was no big
- 41:44first actor set up them going to Italy. It was like they well in
- 41:46Italy, within like three minutes they were just they were there. And but
- 41:50let me get another homo an unnecessary at Homer moment. Here we goes we'll
- 41:53have to hang out with them. Of course that'd be nice. Why do
- 41:58we need the joke of home at hating his family. We don't need that
- 42:02add anything. It's not funny, it's just wasteful. It's just anyway.
- 42:07So we're now on the plane home, and pulls all the cables out of
- 42:08the arm rest that he saw in first class. Well he thought the first
- 42:10class, because first class there m rest lift up. He doesn't. He
- 42:15pulls them the cords out and then we get the propeller the propeller, engine
- 42:20engine falling, and then we get the Cleardus in that, and then we
- 42:22get there was like, oh here we go an inbred gag, and man,
- 42:27we got one. By the way, I feel a little bit better
- 42:29now about my ignorance when it comes to cars down those head propeller, although
- 42:35it does have a propeller in it. So yes, I've been watching the
- 42:37Wiggles today, can do the propeller. All the parents out there, and
- 42:40I understand what I'm talking about. So yeah, so we get the We
- 42:44get Brandy and saying that clear Us was the best husband and sons she's ever
- 42:46had. We're now at the airport and Lisa's branding a Canadian flag on her
- 42:51bag because the US government have done a few things in the last five years,
- 42:54in particular because hey, George pulls just in case you weren't sure what
- 42:57we're reverencing, but that actually did happen. You had a lot of Americans
- 43:01actually, yeah, put put the old maple leaf on their backpacks. What's
- 43:06with the Canadian flag on your backpack? Well, some people in Europe have
- 43:10the impression that America has made some stupid choices in the past. So five
- 43:15years so for the next week. I'm from Canada. I think Dad may
- 43:20blow your cover flagged mind. Don't mess with Texas. Chuck it all,
- 43:24chuck it off. We're out at the car factory on the assembly line.
- 43:30Are we at the factory? Yes? And for people who have nothing inside,
- 43:36that's what this car is for. And then the cars has come straight
- 43:38off the assembly line. They're watching it getting made, and Homer says we're
- 43:42gonna take a straight home. But Marge is the one that says, no,
- 43:44I why don't we stay in the leave for a little while I live
- 43:46a little you know, we'll come over this way. Let's not do that,
- 43:49And Homas like, you're telling me to break the lawy be a bit
- 43:51naughty. Then we get Barton Homer having an argument and checking with a robot
- 43:54and passing yes, we're out. They're now driving the car and this was
- 44:00funny. So you see the leaning tower of pizza. I never thought i'd
- 44:02have to see. It looks even better in person. I mean Donalds where
- 44:06they serve booze. I've never experienced this. That would be pretty cool in
- 44:07my opinion, though, nor have I, although I think I'm so used
- 44:10to the flavor combination of various McDonald's things. Still haven't eaten it in twenty
- 44:15twenty three, by the way, folks hungry Jackson the other hand, k
- 44:20C, on the other hand, Oh my god, best me today.
- 44:25Yes, that's right, it's time for this episode's mandatory mention of fast food.
- 44:31But I got an email from the Colonel Um seeing he would you like
- 44:37thirty nugs for ten bucks? Like, first of all, I'm not a
- 44:40child, call them nuggets seconds. By the way, ten dollars Australian is
- 44:45like six dollars American. You know seven, it's cheap. It's cheap.
- 44:49Our currencies garbage. Yeah, I mean that's what like thirty cents a nugget.
- 44:55Yeah, it's pretty good. It's pretty good. Good for kf C
- 44:59nuggets, which you know, the best chicken nugget. Let's admit it.
- 45:01Let's tell you what. Don't tell you what Elliott said the other day on
- 45:05the way to daycare. By the way, I was like, Friday,
- 45:07Friday night is um this is like a weekered. Friday night is takeaway night
- 45:10for Alliot and Holly. They get to pick the takeaway. I'm like,
- 45:14what do you want for dinner tonight? And he goes, does somebody say,
- 45:16KFC, I don't care? I love it? He said it.
- 45:21I'm like, what is happening? He's like that, He's quitey ads.
- 45:24Did he actually do the whole I don't care? I love He goes,
- 45:28does somebody say KFC, I don't care? I love it? He said
- 45:31the whole thing? Well, that their marketing is working, well done?
- 45:38The colonel. Yes. But I got that email and I immediately forwarded a
- 45:43Danno saying, relevant to your interest. If Nicol wasn't cooking rosotto to night
- 45:47by the way Chef's kiss, I would be getting me thirty nugs even though
- 45:52a KFC last night after the footy because Geelan pied on the goals yesterday against
- 45:54the mighty Hawthorne. We see mighty Hawthorne. They were once mighty, not
- 45:59so mighty anymore, but you know what, the part on the goals and
- 46:00I was very happy about it, and I celebrated with some nugs as the
- 46:05Klonel likes to call them. Anyway, Getting back to the episodes, yees,
- 46:07So they're driving around and I believe it was at the cheese moment.
- 46:12Is that where we're up to? Well, here's the thing. Time for
- 46:15me to get a little pedantic, because they've been in Pisa. They went
- 46:17to the McDonald Homer had some wine. It looked like in an a Chianti
- 46:22bottle. But then they also go to Pompeii. You know, the famous
- 46:30laid waisted by volcano place Pompeii. But they see the sign it's only got
- 46:34one eye at the end of Why did they misspell Pompeii. So I did
- 46:37a little Googlin and found out that, you know, the city was Pompeii
- 46:42with two eyes at the end, but it's in the province of Pompey with
- 46:45only one eye at the answer, and the Simpsons is technically correct. So
- 46:49I just learned from the episode, mister Davis. It's funny. I've actually
- 46:53got something else that I learned. But now you learned something from this episode.
- 47:00I should put that in the memory bank for a little bit later in
- 47:00the episode. But yes, then they they see the family frozen in ash
- 47:05much like the Simpsons, and they call him savages. We've passed upon the
- 47:08vecky On bridge three times. I get my lost. Let me check the
- 47:12navigation system sirs. Here we should turn the left at a fat chicken A
- 47:15two two being fed by a midget. That's a DVD of a Felini movie.
- 47:22I get it. The midget represents dwarves. So Felini was he known
- 47:28for just being was he sort of like the David Finch Ovidaly, the David
- 47:32Lynch of Italy's fin for Lynch. There's David Fincher and there's David Lynch.
- 47:37Yeah yeah, yeah, but yeah, No, Felenny was, yeah,
- 47:42an interesting cat because you know, he started off making watching Michael neo realist
- 47:46dramas, kind of like his life in Italy post World War Two. Yeah,
- 47:50and as he got a little more famous and a little more ambitious,
- 47:52he started, I don't know, introducing weird surreal elements into his movies and
- 47:58essentially, you know, shorthand for Fellini movie was like, got it,
- 48:01It's gonna have a fat lady and a dwarf in it. Okay, that
- 48:06was just like that. That was that, that was the checklist. God,
- 48:08look it was. It's a lazy shorthand, but you know, at
- 48:10least I'm sure I feel this movie. He really appreciated a big butt.
- 48:15He's up there with Sir Mix a lot. Actually, speaking of sir mix
- 48:17a lot. Last week, I came across two young people say, they're
- 48:22about twenty two twenty three, and we're at We're having dinner and that song
- 48:27a lot of peop butts came on right and these girls we overheard them the
- 48:30next they went the next tip. They're like maybe two tapers. I were
- 48:34saying, how is this song not canceled already for fat shaming? And I
- 48:37was like, it's the opposite of fat shaming. It's not. It's a
- 48:40celebration. You're blittering idiots. What the hell. I'm just like, man,
- 48:45millennials today, there's going to cancel everything. I'm sorry, but to
- 48:50quote the why you come with the King you bears not missed? Yeah,
- 48:53come of a mix? How is this song that canceled already? It's just
- 48:55totally fat shaming? And I was like, you're an idiots. They're shaming.
- 48:59The checks at the start of fat shame and then mistakes into school because
- 49:02that's the whole point of the song. Dumb as white checks like, oh
- 49:07my god, Becky, look at her button. Then mix just goes I
- 49:09like, big button, I cannot lie you. Other brothers can't deny there
- 49:13with another girl works in with an anybody wist and a round thing in your
- 49:15face to get sprung. I want to pull up tough because he knows that,
- 49:16but was stuffed deep of the cheese he's wearing. And I looked at
- 49:20the counts upstair and oh baby, I want to get with you and take
- 49:22your picture. My hope. I was trying to warm me, but that
- 49:23but you got makes me so horny. Man. Anyway, if you want,
- 49:28if you if anything worth something up a Patreon for us seeing Guy wrap
- 49:30that, I'm gonna put that video on our page because that was amazing.
- 49:35It was incredibly weight on the from later in the mixed film clip, You're
- 49:40like even white boys got a shout. And I said to Nicola at the
- 49:45time, I'm like, if Guy was here, there is no way he
- 49:46would not be whenever to stand up and just slap them. Guy would have
- 49:51thrown down. He would just want to just wrapped that did them in their
- 49:55face? Excuse me? With the white man in your face, you would
- 49:59get sprung to pull up tough because you know it's that bubble stuff anyway.
- 50:04But yeah, so this is where they get the cheese situation, where the
- 50:07cheese flies off the cheese truck and it crashes into all. Mortadella is what
- 50:09destroys the truck in the end. And that's why it's not in the cheese
- 50:12insurance because it's not eat cheese unless or is it a cheese? Is one
- 50:15of those weird things where it's declared a cheese but it's not really a cheese.
- 50:17I always thought it looked to me it looked like Devin meat with olives
- 50:21put in it. And I want to type the word mortadella, yeah,
- 50:24into Google and this wall, do it once and for all. First of
- 50:29all, there's a really nice sandwich shop in Torquay called Mortadella, and it
- 50:34is really nice. I went there, um and I mean I drove all
- 50:37the way to Talk Eat just for a sandwich and it was worth it.
- 50:40Mortadella is a large Italian sausage or lunch and meat made of finely hashed or
- 50:47ground meat cured pork, which incorporates at least fifteen percent small cubes of pork
- 50:52at least fifteen percent meat. Is mortadella. Yeah, it's meat. It's
- 50:55a sausage, sausage meat. Yeah, there you go. That's when you
- 50:59said, what did you define it as? What kind of meat was it
- 51:01sandwich meat? Was it large Italian sausage or luncheon meat? Luncheon meat.
- 51:06Luncheon meat is devin, That's what it is. It definitely is devine,
- 51:07as we call it here in Austrade. But they get, they get,
- 51:10they get out the car, and they pushed the car to the Tuscan village
- 51:13who has been destroyed by the mortadella. And there's a joke here, right,
- 51:16So the old woman here, she doesn't speak English. She doesn't understand
- 51:19home at what he's saying. Right, I met her a carnal and he
- 51:22goes on a bit of a tyrode. Then Lisa, she understands when she
- 51:24says that the mayor speaks English, and she understands it when she says that
- 51:28in Italian. Then Homer gives her a token of his gratitude, which is
- 51:31the muggers that Kentucky. And suddenly she says in Italian that means hall.
- 51:36And I'm like, so now you can't speak English? English? Yeah,
- 51:38I was like two seconds ago. The joke was that this woman couldn't speak
- 51:43English, and now she's speaking English, all right, But apparently Kentucky in
- 51:47Italian means Hall. I did not look at that up to see whether that
- 51:50was true, but I feel like they wouldn't have made that joke of it
- 51:52wasn't true. I don't think that's the case. They go to see the
- 51:55mayor and it revealed it was. It is revealed to be sideshow Bob,
- 52:00and yeah, I liked the story. It made sense in the sense that
- 52:04he wanted to get away from Springfield, so he went to Italy. And
- 52:07the fact that he had the big giant feet or as they called them,
- 52:09humongous tutsis in this episode he's able to use it to um to harvest the
- 52:14grapes, and he was able to use that was the what set up the
- 52:17initial Bob versus Bart story. There was the fact that they're big giant feet
- 52:22and Bart because he frames Crusty. Then Bart notices that Krusty has small feet,
- 52:27notices that Bob actually has giant, big shoes to fill with the with
- 52:30the big feet. It's like, that's how that's how you it was you
- 52:34EU frame Krusty. That's where the hatred started. And then the feet here
- 52:37utilized into the story as well, so he's that he ends up becoming the
- 52:39mayor of of the of the town. What's that. What's the town called
- 52:43solicit or something? Yeah, sal lines apologies, guys, he's made the
- 52:52mayor. And he introduces them to Francesca and Gino, and Home says,
- 52:57I always thought you were gay, and he said he college. Yeah,
- 53:00experimented in college. Nice Kelsey line reading, It's like, what a surprise
- 53:06when he was that I didn't go to college. Hello, I Marge,
- 53:09this is my husband Home, my daughteresst Lison, Naggie, and my son
- 53:15Bart Simpson. Bart Simson, the namer of better Chris when he has the
- 53:20beddream by seems by see him so by seems I make you log on my
- 53:24babby. Yes, Bart and I used to go fly fishing together. Bye
- 53:35bye, bye bye. I feel like the rate gag they can let it
- 53:40die now. It was funny, like it was. It worked for that
- 53:43episode, but don't make it his trait. It's so it's two on the
- 53:46nose. It's like, oh, go away, yeah, give us time
- 53:50to miss it. I mean, I'm not a fan of the rate gag,
- 53:52as people know, but I didn't mind that they did it once with
- 53:54Bob and once with Gino. This time around, it's like Okay, that's
- 53:57nice. But every time he returns to Francesco, Francesco Francesco sorry, kept
- 54:06saying, says he's not Yes, I can stay for dinner. And she
- 54:09said, Bob makes love to me like a mannes's just got out of jail.
- 54:13Hey, So, how would you would you define love being made by
- 54:20man who's just going to add of jail. Would it be rigorous? Would
- 54:22it be intense? Would it be passionate? I like to think it would
- 54:28be both passionate and tender, because I imagine that any love making that goes
- 54:31on behind bars is none of the above. You get tender eyes behind bars.
- 54:37Oh bye bars. But he begs the family, don't please don't tell
- 54:44him he don't tell him the truth. I've made a great life for him
- 54:46here, and I like the element of it here. I was like,
- 54:49you almost are rooting for Bob in this episode in the sense that he's been
- 54:52He's been a horrible person in the past, but he's turned his life around
- 54:54now. He doesn't want to kill Bart's and Bart's the one that tries to
- 54:58tempt He's like, Oh, I don't believe you're never going to go back
- 55:00to the way you are and he shows him his ballying and things like that,
- 55:02and it's like, no, he started in his life for himself.
- 55:06He don't fuck ab up Simpsons. But and Lisa, of all characters is
- 55:08the one that does it. And then admittedly by accident, but still by
- 55:12the way, I mean, I'm going to indulge in a little casual body
- 55:15shaming here because i'm author. But that's a little fatty. Yeah, he's
- 55:17always been a little fatty, always picked fund of his little pugginess barely on
- 55:22the boy. So as I said, Bart tries to I'm tried to tempt
- 55:23him. Then we get our Lisa explained that literally is filled with tales of
- 55:28redemption. Remember the two people that she mentions here, damn it Jean Jean
- 55:34Valjean through to the voice of buzz Light. Yeah, Tim Allen, I
- 55:43can't believe that he actually went to prison for like was it selling drugs or
- 55:45drugs smuggling or something. He stayed out of prison well, or he got
- 55:49his prison, he got his sentence reduced for he was in prison. Though
- 55:53he was in prison, that's true, But he also snitched, did he
- 55:57really? Yeah? Wow? I did not know. Oh that wow?
- 56:00Okay, But Homer says, if you fix our car, we won't telling
- 56:02you so Boba greese. He says, the town is now at their service
- 56:06and they'll wait for the balcony, and we get the home of Missolini moment.
- 56:08What he thought he was being trump just the visual of the Missolini I
- 56:10thought the lip, Oh, that was very funny. We're now in the
- 56:15sausage shop where they say they've been killing the same family of Peak for over
- 56:19six hundred years and he's haunted by the ghosts of ten thousand pigs. Let
- 56:22me get home and eating the raw meat, and like, this joke was
- 56:24stupid. Man, he kisses you with that mouth, I love you much.
- 56:30It's all this ram Peak meat over his mouth. I was like,
- 56:32there's so much in this episode that works. And he's throwing ship like this.
- 56:36It's like, I don't know, I don't I don't understand how you
- 56:37could ever write this and you think it was funny. I'll get you what
- 56:40you're man, Yeah, it's not. I mean, it feels it's filler.
- 56:44It's just laziness. Yeah, it's the stuff in the mortadella that's not
- 56:47pork. Yeah, but well, olives aren't feel I don't like olives,
- 56:52but olives used to be expensive a shit when I used to work in the
- 56:53Delhi I love I love good olive, so that now playing soccer and Bob's
- 56:58you know, he's just the great man in town, like everyone loves him
- 57:00and they all want a piece of him. And then Francesca says, you
- 57:04know you must miss him in America. Cut to the CoP's raiding Bob's old
- 57:07house and it's actually a birthday party for a kid, and that doesn't go
- 57:10well, doesn't go anywhere. Then Bob makes the toast that the car is
- 57:15fixed. Your seat over in the corner, that's all fixed and ready to
- 57:17go. Bob makes the toast of the family, but March there's no one
- 57:21for Lisa, and he says, come on, you know everyone drinks here,
- 57:22you know the town drunks. Two years old. I did like when
- 57:25he turns men get the diaper drop. I did like a good butt who
- 57:30it is just a bit of crack always always adds to them, adds to
- 57:34the humor. Then it was a little Barney. Yes, I did like
- 57:37the visual of the goat being jealous as well, when Bart was dancing with
- 57:39the old lady Goat at the start. Well, they did that initially as
- 57:45one when you first see that old lady. Yeah, both her and the
- 57:49goat a pretty much the same expression on their face when they're sort of looking
- 57:51suspiciously. That's a nice little touch, Bob. So Lisa is now drunk
- 57:55and she almost reveals the truth this I didn't buy. So he goes to
- 58:00walk her away. The clothes get ripped off and he's still wearing his prison
- 58:02outfit. I was like, that's how you got to this. I'm like,
- 58:06that's lazy, that's lazy. That's correct. I mean, you're drunken
- 58:09children tell the ugliest lies. But I mean I can buy Lisa getting drunk
- 58:15up and sort of, you know, riffing on on what Marge is saying
- 58:21kind of humorously as well. But yeah, the whole Yeah, the prison
- 58:25yarb under the suit. It's like what why, No, don't that's just
- 58:30sad. It's almost offensive. As a viewer, it's like, oh man,
- 58:32you were like you just think we're idiots, right, you think we'll
- 58:36just buy anything. That's just ridiculous. Really, yeah, I mean if
- 58:38it had like I'm sorry, I'm trying to recall previous side show, Bob,
- 58:44episodes because I know it's a riff on Cape Fear, particularly the episode
- 58:46titled Cape Fear this suit nearly every episode. Yeah yeah, but you know,
- 58:52Daniro and Cape Fear has got tats all over himself, prison tats.
- 58:55I'm wondering if they ever did that would side show Bob as well, and
- 58:58they had they don't know he had died in Cape Fear. He's got the
- 59:00um it's like the on his knuckles, and he's got a snake and things
- 59:05like that. Yeah. Yeah, it'd be nice if he had like actual,
- 59:07like his prison number tattooed on his breast or something. But the fact
- 59:12that he's just wearing it's like, who, I'll go with some of things.
- 59:15But this was just silly. You know, Sach, Bob's meant to
- 59:19be this intelligent character. He's gone through all this trouble. So he trying
- 59:22to tell me that he puts on that prison suit or he's never taken it
- 59:24off. He wasn't wearing it when he went there, so why is he
- 59:27wearing it now? Also, you know, how was he making love like
- 59:31a man who just got out of prison without you know, Francisco seeing him
- 59:37get naked? Yeah, it's just get it. It was just there's other
- 59:42ways he could have gone about this, and this was not the way he
- 59:44might be in. But that aside, I did like come of being surprised,
- 59:46Sacho, Bob. Then they go through the book, which we had
- 59:51some pretty funny gags. I'm always up for some family guys and again so
- 59:54shake McFarland. Yeah, snake invasion as the order of Takasa uh may quinby
- 1:00:02drink a driver and then family guy of who's that Peter Griffin plagiarismo, and
- 1:00:08then we get is a stand the dad from American Dad. I'm not sure
- 1:00:13who the character the league going American. I think it's stand Yeah. But
- 1:00:15the plagire, plagiarismo, the plagiarisms, like that's funny, and Bob and
- 1:00:21I like think they just put them in there. They wudn't any even like
- 1:00:22Simpson issing was just not These are the characters, Roberto, is this true?
- 1:00:29You try to make the murder but Darling the boy drove me to murder
- 1:00:32by exonerating a Harlequinn who I framed for robbery at the quickie mart Oh,
- 1:00:37it all sounds so stupid. You have brought the shame upon our harm,
- 1:00:44but mafia control the village. You are welcome in. Salso no more,
- 1:00:53he's getting that standing luck Simpson family. I hear I swear, then that
- 1:01:06doesn't mean the d We come back from commercial and they're all talking about how
- 1:01:12this time was Lisa that ruined his life, not barked, and she's still
- 1:01:15hanging having a hangover. Homer says, they're an unavoidable part of life.
- 1:01:19Do you think there's many people out there in Western culture who haven't been drunk
- 1:01:23before? Hmm, that's a really good question. I mean, I don't
- 1:01:29know. Speaking of a generation xt here, I'm assuming that most of my
- 1:01:32cohorders, we're woken up on a hangover at least once or twice in their
- 1:01:37life. Either they're big drinkers and like a Homo said, it's an unavoidable
- 1:01:42part of life, or you know, they've been at a wedding or a
- 1:01:45twenty first or whatever and just had you know, one or two too many
- 1:01:46and wake up going oh my head. Yeah. So, I don't know,
- 1:01:52it's weird. I'm reading more and more articles sort of people talking about,
- 1:01:55oh I'm gonna I'm stopping drinking in the here you're expecting to read like,
- 1:02:00oh wow, I woke up in the ditch or some you know shit
- 1:02:04like that. All you know, some real not horror story bes like,
- 1:02:06oh man, it was really taking out my life, And it doesn't seem
- 1:02:09that way. It just seems like, oh, I woke up with a
- 1:02:13sewer head one day and I said, no, drinking is not for me.
- 1:02:15And maybe, yeah, maybe that's a legitimate reason, but it just
- 1:02:17feels like, well, maybe just don't drink so much, you know,
- 1:02:21it's like, oh, I'm gonna quit all or nothing. It's like,
- 1:02:23I'm sure one glass of wine. Sometimes some people have no impulse impulse control,
- 1:02:28man, some people can't stop. Like it's literally just a brain malfunction.
- 1:02:31I guess I thought it's a more way to put it. Some people
- 1:02:35just are less able to control their urges and others, I guess so yea
- 1:02:39yeah. I mean it's easy for me. I can literally go out and
- 1:02:42not drink it still have a good time, and I can go and drink
- 1:02:45and so we're having two drinks and that's fine. Some people just I've got
- 1:02:46friends who have a drink every night, and I'm just like, whatever,
- 1:02:50it works. From you, mate, you know, but just no,
- 1:02:52no, no judgment. But I just don that down that. Afternue it's
- 1:02:57we're here. It's where Burns cause him up and he's like, where the
- 1:02:59hell are you being? You should have been back a month ago. I'm
- 1:03:00like, how the fuck? How long have they been in this town?
- 1:03:04What's going on here? Just christ and Homer says he's got technical difficulties and
- 1:03:07he puts a little um whether they coming back soon or something. Whatever it
- 1:03:10is him looking all sexy or whatever, and I thought it was quite funny.
- 1:03:14Then they drive over what are a traditional because it's where Bob's chasing after
- 1:03:17them. Now discycle the better drive off the edge, lazy romans. And
- 1:03:22then what do they land on? They land some landmark, I'm assuming because
- 1:03:27it's like, remember where we part. They make a big point of it.
- 1:03:29What they land on top of the like a a big statue of some
- 1:03:32kind Cole Sam or the fountain. Now it's just like one. It almost
- 1:03:37looks like the monument in Washington, just a big thing, oh um,
- 1:03:42and not Trevi fat. But it's a column of some kind. And I
- 1:03:45can't remember the land for the life of me. You looked at that while
- 1:03:47so I'll continue. As you can see, I'm not very good with my
- 1:03:50Italian landmarks. But Francesca then approaches Bob and she says, you know,
- 1:03:53the dishonored you, the dishonored your family. We're all in, We're all
- 1:03:57going to get them together. And Gino is laughing really in real evil manner,
- 1:04:01and he falls and cries. A little baby picks him up and starts
- 1:04:03laughing evil again. The family are now stranded. They've got no car.
- 1:04:06I'm assuming they've got no stuff anywhere either. That's walking by themselves. But
- 1:04:11they see the ad for Crusty. He's gonna be doing the opera that night.
- 1:04:14I believe the opera they have that here too, Crusty go. He's
- 1:04:18going through the script. Let's see I ain't doing that. That's not funny.
- 1:04:27He will change wealthy merchant to nudice with big rack. This needs punching
- 1:04:31up. That's coming out two acts. I just gotta be kicked out of
- 1:04:35that, just two acts. Danna. We must take a break for a
- 1:04:40moment, because I've found out that there are many famous columns in Rome,
- 1:04:43including the one that comes at first on Google is tra Jams or tree Jams.
- 1:04:48It is a triumphal column in Rome. It's not the only triumphle columnf
- 1:04:53you know what I'm talking about. What does it look like? Describe it
- 1:04:55to because I'll tell you what this one looks like. Is it a big
- 1:04:58fallic looking thing with a dude on top? With a dude on top?
- 1:05:01Is that a dude? Well, it's something on top, Yeah, that'd
- 1:05:05be the one. Then well they landed on top of that. It looks
- 1:05:08like a big ass chess piece. It does. Indeed, that's exactly what
- 1:05:11it looks like. It looks like a lighthouse. Yeah, yeah, there
- 1:05:13you go. That's it. But that was that's very cultured here at four
- 1:05:16figure discount. That's your history lesson with Guy and Dando. This is you
- 1:05:20know, iconic monument from that's thousands on thousands of years old. It looks
- 1:05:24like a lighthouse, looks like a chess piece, looks like a big dick
- 1:05:27chess piece. Yes, but um but yeah, so this is what they're
- 1:05:30stranger. They said, the krust. He's going through the script bla blah
- 1:05:31blah. The Simpsons family will walk in beg frees help. And I don't
- 1:05:34want to be the first I believe that Catholics killed at the colors sums albody
- 1:05:38says all Christians. Whatever was Christians? Christians the Colosseum. Hope then says
- 1:05:42he wants to be the phantom of the operation and that's who he's going to
- 1:05:45play. And then we get a really unnecessary gay joke on the gayest pervillain
- 1:05:49ever. Was like, oh no, this one maybe dand is something in
- 1:05:56the in the writer's room one day or whatever, and that was like,
- 1:05:58hey, let's work this into a script. I'm like, but Bob's then
- 1:06:01um Bobs then watching the show as they're performing and Christ's doing a terrible job.
- 1:06:06They call me a murderer. And then Gino he's looking through the bleculars
- 1:06:11and he sees the family but shocked and Homo waves to him, which I
- 1:06:14thought was quite good, and he runs off to get them, and Bob
- 1:06:17says, you know, he's evil at an eighth grade level. Let's see
- 1:06:20what else we got here. So I had this beautiful tour guide, right
- 1:06:26and I tell her I want to see your naples. She slapped me.
- 1:06:30Ha ha ha. We call it napoli. Yeah, well it sounds like
- 1:06:34you're all taking a napoli. I know, you're out there. I can
- 1:06:38hear you being greasy. But then he gets sent down a trapdoor and bobbed
- 1:06:42and replaces him, and everyone now thinks that he's part of the show,
- 1:06:45and he's actually, they're not going to be killing the family. I think
- 1:06:47it's all happening for the show. But the family's like, no, they're
- 1:06:49gonna kill us. They're really going to kill us. Then somehow Krussy just
- 1:06:53rocks up on stage with his limo and takes them away. Look, he
- 1:06:57just fell down a trapdoor. How's his limo on stage? How's this all
- 1:07:00happen? How'd that happen? Yeah? I don't know. But he says
- 1:07:03he needs them. What does he need them for? What are they going
- 1:07:05to help him do? Smuggle? What? Smuggling antiquities back to the US?
- 1:07:09So he's I think he's devaluing the ancient antique by breaking into various pieces.
- 1:07:15Logic has not been our friend this episode. But that's how you pretty
- 1:07:19much wrap it up, although it does have a happy ish ending because the
- 1:07:24Twilger family that sort of walks off into the sunset with the evil gene such
- 1:07:31as it is clearly being passed onto little Gino because he wants vendetta, vendetta.
- 1:07:35He's almost swayed by a farfella, but no, the butterfly is also
- 1:07:41the subject of a vendetta fella vendetta. And as I said that, my
- 1:07:45last note on this episode, boy little Geno goes a long, long way.
- 1:07:49Yes, they walk off to plot their revenge on the Simpsons family,
- 1:07:53but do you get some jokes here? Over the credits they have a gondola
- 1:07:56ride and I liked this through the stereo. But yeah, poking fun at,
- 1:08:02poking fun at Homer, poking fun at just the classic American family in
- 1:08:08comedy. Fat man with hot wife, Well, that's true, the whole
- 1:08:13useless or fat man with a wife like the husband is always batting above his
- 1:08:17average. New classic sitcoms, what's the one that we sort of really tend
- 1:08:21to think of in that way, because I mean, I think, for
- 1:08:24a while, according to Jim fat or just punching above his weight, punch
- 1:08:30his weight, punching above his weight? According to was it for a while?
- 1:08:34John John Riddo, I mean he's great, dude's a handsome dude though
- 1:08:39it was pretty handsome. Yeah, yeah, Katie seagell Um, I mean
- 1:08:41al Bundy, I mean Al Bundy was like the character was horrific, but
- 1:08:45like the dude's good looking dude really well yeah, I mean he was a
- 1:08:48football star at high school, which has peaked in high school. Yeah yeah,
- 1:08:53And it wasn't like it didn't even even feel like he was sort of
- 1:08:57punching above his weight. It was like she wanted out all the time.
- 1:09:00Apparently he was like a new pig. All right, So overall, though,
- 1:09:06what do you think of the episode? Like I said, pretty I
- 1:09:09mean, actually this was an interesting reversal on the way that we normally do
- 1:09:12things on Forefinger this game, because you know, there'll be times and I'll
- 1:09:15start and it was like I don't think much of this one, and then
- 1:09:17we'll talk about it. I'd be like, hey, there was actually some
- 1:09:19good stuff in this episode. Not that bad after all. With this one,
- 1:09:23I recall an hour or so coming there, coming in and say,
- 1:09:27hey, I like this episode a lot, and then we've sort of picked
- 1:09:30a few nits here and there, it's like, oh, yeah, that
- 1:09:31part wasn't there. Great, every episode is going to happen overall. Yeah,
- 1:09:34overall though, I was pretty happy with the Italian Bomb. I thought
- 1:09:38this was Yeah, just a nice, light, breezy, fun episode.
- 1:09:42Not one that's going to stick in the memory, one that's going to linger
- 1:09:44in the heart eternally, but a nice way to spend a good twenty five
- 1:09:48minutes or so what do we learn? Bomber? So what do you learn
- 1:09:51from the episode, mister Davis? Because I learned how time like that Pompey.
- 1:09:56Yeah, there's Pompey and there's Pompey. Yes, exactly what did you
- 1:10:00learn? I learned that opera in Italy as well, which is un fascinating.
- 1:10:02I was astonished. I didn't I couldn't believe it when I was that
- 1:10:04cross the others are you're kidding me? What from forward? Your name?
- 1:10:10Trobby? All right? Time for the Guy Davis New Name Championship. The
- 1:10:14current leaderboard stands at this In first position, we have Luke McKay on nine
- 1:10:17points, In the second position we have Nora Coca on five points, and
- 1:10:21in third position we have Heath Appleby and David Mott. David I missed the
- 1:10:26point from a couple of weeks ago, so he's also on the four points
- 1:10:28in third position. Take it away, miss Davis. What do we have
- 1:10:30this week? Oh, no point though, um that's one point. One
- 1:10:34point goes to Mambo Bartaliano. O. I like that one. That's all
- 1:10:39a newbie to the Guy Davis leaderboards. Marinko Stolovich one point, Marinko,
- 1:10:45great name, two points four the Bob Father, the Bob Father. Oh
- 1:10:51that appears twice actually with the points as a person did it first, and
- 1:10:56that is Fergus Jeffs. Fergus Jeffs did it first, but our man ready
- 1:11:00I Mic did it as well. Just kind of a little bit too late.
- 1:11:01Ready a Mike. But you know what, we'll chuck you in the
- 1:11:03leader board as well with a with a one point you can just you can
- 1:11:06sort of linger in there. You've made the leaderboard as well, where there
- 1:11:09might you contribute enough by being a patron and all the support you've given us
- 1:11:12over the years. So Fergus Jeffs will one with the two points that puts
- 1:11:15you. Oh, you're now in, You're now five points. Well done,
- 1:11:18Fergus, and nice work getting the Wildcard podcast slash Radio Mic. But
- 1:11:25three points go to the four then do you always love the doze ones?
- 1:11:31Don't? Yeah? Ah do indeed? And this folded it in nicely but
- 1:11:34the whole then dead a thing. You know, it's a word. We
- 1:11:35heard a lot in this episode that is. Oh he's climbing. It's Heath
- 1:11:40Appleby with the three points once again. So now that bumps him up to
- 1:11:43second position. Wow, all right, so first now they're like them apples.
- 1:11:46Yes, first position is now Luke McCay still on nine. Second is
- 1:11:49now Heath Appleby on seven points. And third we have a tie between Fergus
- 1:11:55Jeffs and Nora Coca, both on five points. There we go, so
- 1:11:59Heath will be with a bullet. This is shaping up as an Italian grownd
- 1:12:05Prix of new name challenges. Okay, mister Davis's time for a few male
- 1:12:15bad questions here for the Italian bog. The first question we have here comes
- 1:12:18from Rachel McLean. Rachel says, have you ever driven an expensive car like
- 1:12:23a Ferrari? I never have, and I've never even been a passenger in
- 1:12:28one. We actually bought because Nicholas's dad, stepdad Ray, he's right into
- 1:12:32fast cards and things like that, so we got him like a Lamborghini joy
- 1:12:36Ride for his birthday a couple of years ago. Love that, but I've
- 1:12:40never been We used to have. Our old neighbors were like, so the
- 1:12:43guy owned like a real estate agency which is very well known around the country
- 1:12:47and the wife cards take an you know who it is. Basically there are
- 1:12:53millionaires had a lot of money right which like it's like it's from Lisa s
- 1:12:59none as two of yours. Al Simpson had a lot of money and he
- 1:13:02had a ferrari in He used to have a ferrari in his garage. I
- 1:13:05never went for a ride for whatever he'son, never asked for it. Us
- 1:13:08have a fry in his garage just next door here in North Geelong. I
- 1:13:11remember one day it was Yeah, he was out the front talking to me
- 1:13:13and his kid from like we have riff raffle fromand here somewhere and you come
- 1:13:15around the corner. He was like, you're the guy with a Ferrari in
- 1:13:18garage and he was like, I need to move this car as now I
- 1:13:28need to resend my original answer. Yeah, my my good friend JP M.
- 1:13:35His family was in the cars, not these very flashy, you know,
- 1:13:40Italian ones, although he did have a very nice feet convertible for a
- 1:13:43while. But one car that they did have was like a classic Aston Martin
- 1:13:49like a full on Sean Connery, James bond Aston Martin. Yeah, and
- 1:13:56JP had his um. It was about we were out eighteen or nineteen or
- 1:14:00so. So JP had his license when when this car was in the in
- 1:14:02the JP household, took it out for a spin one day and we went
- 1:14:05to the Botanical gardens in East Geelong and we got bogged. Oh wow.
- 1:14:12And it was really wet, muddied bogged by the way. Mean, it's
- 1:14:15just like your car's caught in the mud. You can't get out, correct
- 1:14:20it was it was a manual. I can't drive manual. JP was actually
- 1:14:24in the car trying to get it and I'm at the back pushing, pushing,
- 1:14:28pushing and getting his muddle over itself. But it's like, if I
- 1:14:31am going to be splattered with mud, I'm happy that it is double O
- 1:14:35seven's ride of choice. Then it's doing it to me. So yeah,
- 1:14:39but no, I've never been behind the wheel or even in the passenger.
- 1:14:42See there's something like a Ferrari or a Lamborghini or something like that. I
- 1:14:45don't know how I feel about cars like that in all honesty. I mean,
- 1:14:49there's a noted local identity in geelonga who owns a Ferrari and you'll see
- 1:14:55it driving around the town. You mentioned, it's like, well it bothers
- 1:14:58you, doesn't it. It doesn't feel right? Yeah. I mean it's
- 1:15:02not the person who lived next to to me either, but it's just like
- 1:15:04you're in Gelong? What are you doing? Mate? It just I could
- 1:15:09not relax, you know. I couldn't go down to know. I couldn't
- 1:15:14part go to Sam's camp. No, I couldn't go to Sam's cafe and
- 1:15:16get myself a shwarma. You know. I'm just I'm just no one is
- 1:15:20going to let you have a nice thing because they don't have it either.
- 1:15:25No. I think you could probably top out at a Porsche in in Geelong.
- 1:15:29Yeah, I don't. I think anything more, anything more flashy than
- 1:15:31that. It also depends what color it is. If if it's got a
- 1:15:34loud color, then you're in trouble. That's true. I think you're geting
- 1:15:38away with a nice gun metal gray Ferrari perhaps, But no, I think
- 1:15:42Porsche Mercedes as bad as high And is he going to get maybe a Maserati
- 1:15:45because they're they're more low key. Heath Appleby asked what car do you think
- 1:15:49of when you snuggle with your significant other, but they're the truck from Jewel
- 1:15:56the truck from Jewel, or it's going to be what's another movie with the
- 1:15:59car? And what's that that truck from the cheapest creepers movies? I think
- 1:16:04I think of the Mystery Machine. What about you? Um? I think
- 1:16:11I mentioned wacky Races on the Patrons thing, Nila, Yeah, no,
- 1:16:15I'm thinking more repeat a perfect car which is essentially dick yea, it really
- 1:16:19is. Yes, you look at it now. I was like, oh,
- 1:16:23and then you look at Penelope pitstops car which has got the really big
- 1:16:27lips on the front, which are lips but also lips. And that were
- 1:16:32having some fun on the Wacky he Races Writer's Room. That's had to Barbara,
- 1:16:36right, I believe so, yeah, because it's an execute universe,
- 1:16:40of course. Yeah, but this this is the thing right. On our
- 1:16:43latest episode of the one about Friends, they mentioned a Judy jetson I believe
- 1:16:47Lunchbox or something of Firmus or whatever. On the episode, Nicola did not
- 1:16:53know who the Jetsons were. Can you believe that? Like Legit did not
- 1:16:56know who the Jessins were. She's like Yeah, it's a band, isn't
- 1:16:59it. I was like, no, no, not join the Jetsons the
- 1:17:01cartoon so I've never heard of them before. I'm like, what is happening?
- 1:17:04I was flabberg acid. I could not believe it. Well, that's
- 1:17:09the thing I think you'd have to, you know, if you meant there
- 1:17:12are things that you'd mentioned to Nicola meant Nicola would say something like, no,
- 1:17:15I grew up watching Blue Peter or Rabbit, Yeah, or there are
- 1:17:19certain English shows that are like for kids, and you know, anyone outside
- 1:17:24of England will be like, I've got no idea what you're talking about.
- 1:17:26You're just making words. I'm like, it's it's the Flintstones in space.
- 1:17:29She's like, you know, help me. I don't know what you're talking
- 1:17:30about really, because I've made it as simple as I can. The next
- 1:17:38question here is Andrew JP. What's your top three side show Bob episodes.
- 1:17:43Me, I'm going to go everyone always goes Cape Fear and I guess if
- 1:17:47you're going, what are the best? I think you're gonna have to go.
- 1:17:49Kpe Fear is number one. It's not my favorite. That My favorite
- 1:17:53as always Brother from another series which has David Hyde Piers Piers. Yeah,
- 1:17:57yeah, that's always my favorite so Showbob episode, but that would be number
- 1:18:01two when you think of the best of all time. I think it was
- 1:18:03a great way really to wrap up the Sideshow Bob character. He's set to
- 1:18:08prison forever with his brother. He didn't need to return after that, really,
- 1:18:11and I think it's going to be a type of three for either the
- 1:18:15first one of Krusty gets busted, or it's going to be the one Black
- 1:18:19Widower where he tries to kill Selma, which I thought was a very good
- 1:18:24one as well, or from the classic era obviously, but there was not
- 1:18:26There's another one side show Bob's Last Gleaming where he steals the right brother's plane
- 1:18:30and because he's losing his mind because as one end episode. I appreciate it
- 1:18:33more as I was older, because he gets he hates television, wants to
- 1:18:36get rid of television. I like that episode now didn't appreciate it more when
- 1:18:40on SKI. But I think top three going for actual best Cape fear Brother
- 1:18:44from another series, and probably Black Widower. And I had to sound like
- 1:18:46I'm just echoing down, but yeah, that's that's that's a pretty solid lineup
- 1:18:49and probably one that I go with. I'm I would probably even though I
- 1:18:55don't like them the rate gag. I like pretty much everything else that's in
- 1:18:58kpear, But I'm going to put that second. I think I'm going to
- 1:19:00put brother from was a brother from another mother, Brother from another series,
- 1:19:02because it's brother from another series, my pot cheese because yeah, look I'm
- 1:19:09a big fan of David Happiers as well, so yeah, happy to have
- 1:19:13those, and but yeah, I think they're the ones that I like as
- 1:19:15well. Harrison McClure. He says, I have a rich tradition of always
- 1:19:18trying macas in any new country I go to, and then rating and comparing.
- 1:19:24Have either of you guys ever had macers overseas, and if so,
- 1:19:26what was the best and worst places in your experience. I remember having it
- 1:19:30in Paris when I was about nine or ten years old, but I don't
- 1:19:33recall anything that different about it. I don't recall I had it in Hawaii
- 1:19:38when we took Elliott Or we went for a wedding. At was ten weeks
- 1:19:41old, so that was twenty eighteen, and I don't I just it just
- 1:19:45it was just mec Donneld's. There wasn't anything really different about it. I
- 1:19:46think that's part of the appeal though. I mean, if you're overseason,
- 1:19:49you may be feeling, oh Macas and it's like, oh, I'm back
- 1:19:54in I'm back in Shannon Avenue. Is that your macas go to the Shannon
- 1:19:59Avenue? Yes, it's always hard to get in and out, so much
- 1:20:03traffic around that spot. Paying the ass. Every car park in that area
- 1:20:08is bad. Yeah, I mean the Cold Supermarket is just the worst car
- 1:20:11park, not only in Geelong, but maybe Australia and possibly the world.
- 1:20:16I remember one thing about England is KFCs shpouts. They don't have. I
- 1:20:20know you don't like chicken salt, but everyone likes KFC chips because of the
- 1:20:25salt. Like it's the salt that Mexican chips so good. They just give
- 1:20:27you standard salt like that. I ain't haven't it. I ain't having it.
- 1:20:31We'll go one more question. There was a couple here. We'll go
- 1:20:33a couple so, Mark Boston Burgess. Have you ever been to the opera
- 1:20:36before? I? Never? So? What's your favorite performance? Never been
- 1:20:38to the opera ever in my life? What about you? I feel like
- 1:20:41you would have been at these ones at least once. Yeah. I mean
- 1:20:45I've talked in the past about how my family spend a year abroad back when
- 1:20:48I was about nine ten years old. Ye, that's when I had my
- 1:20:53Russian McDonald's experience. But one thing we did was a bit of a tour
- 1:20:58throughout Europe, and part of it was like, hey, we'll show you
- 1:21:00some culture and we went to the opera one night. You know, I
- 1:21:03imagine that went really went down really well with a ten year old. He
- 1:21:08was like, are there any lightsabers in this? So? Yeah, I
- 1:21:13had been to the opera. I cannot, for the life of me recall
- 1:21:15which opera it was. I mean it was it was. It was in
- 1:21:18a beautiful opera house, a very you know, I've been to the Sydney
- 1:21:21Opera House and I saw Pixies play live there. Well that's knows. That
- 1:21:26was very pretty cool. Yeah, but the actual operative, I do not
- 1:21:30recall. Reese Roberts, what role be musical, opera or pop culture role?
- 1:21:34Would you love Bob to Oliga or Kelsey Grammer to perform? He would
- 1:21:38love him as Sweeney Tired as a title role or in Star Trek or a
- 1:21:42Star Trek captain. Calcia would actually be a good Star Trek captain. How
- 1:21:45that you say that? I think he would. Yeah, I'm seeing I'm
- 1:21:50the minute he says the minute reset Star Trek. I'm thinking about what about
- 1:21:55Star Wars. And no, I don't think he would fit in Star Wars,
- 1:21:57but he would fit in Star Trek. The delivery that's more proper,
- 1:22:01too proper for Star Wars. I think he's a bit Yeah, yeah,
- 1:22:04I mean he would be because he actually it might be a good villain in
- 1:22:08Star Wars though. And it's weird because you know, I think Star Trek
- 1:22:13used to have this reputation being a little sort of I don't know, Star
- 1:22:17Wars seems to will become stuffy though, yeahs Now definitely and and and I
- 1:22:23don't think and there's too much there's too much law to Star Wars now there
- 1:22:27is now unfortunately. I mean, I've I've stopped watching The Mandalorian sorry to
- 1:22:32say I've missed the last couple of episodes because I don't know if this looks
- 1:22:36that interesting. And there are all clips that I've got, like I think
- 1:22:40it was Jack Black, Christopher Lloyd and Lizzo in the most recent episode,
- 1:22:45and everyone was dunky on it saying, oh, this looks like a commercial
- 1:22:48for insurance or something, and I was like, I'll give a shot,
- 1:22:53and then I was looking at it. No, this looks terrible, this
- 1:22:55looks bad. The acting is terrible. I mean, Lozo is a fine
- 1:22:59musician, a good entainer, but can't act for a fucking lick um.
- 1:23:02So yeah, bad news, not what you want. On that note,
- 1:23:08let's write this up. One more question before we go, David, who
- 1:23:13would you who would win in a Battle of wits side show Bob or mister
- 1:23:16Burns side show. Bob would win, of course, mister Burns would just
- 1:23:19try and use his money and power to win the battle. That is correct.
- 1:23:25I am well behind Dando on this answer. Yes. All right,
- 1:23:29So that is our review of the Italian Bob. Thank you for joining us

- 1:24:48has been the Italian Bob. The next episode we're going to be reviewing from
- 1:24:51season seventeen is Simpson's Christmas Stories. Interesting, it's gonna be one of those
- 1:24:57ones where like Simpson's Bible Stories where it's just like non cannon stuff machining.
- 1:25:01It's probably written by Matt Simon. He loves to write those. Let's click.
- 1:25:03Simpson's Christmas Story is gonna open it up. It is written by all
- 1:25:06Don Payne. Okay, written by Don Payin. Matt sum is a big
- 1:25:11fan of these trilogy kind of stories, kind of like treats of horror but
- 1:25:14not horror. So Simpson's Christmas Stories is the next episode here on four Finger
- 1:25:17Discount from season seventeen. Don't forget, We've got plenty more Guy on Springfield's
- 1:25:20coming as well, where we go back and revisit classic episodes. The next
- 1:25:24one's going to be Alliott j O'Neill from the Simpsons Index podcast reviewing. But
- 1:25:28the think actually know what, He's not gonna be the next one. We
- 1:25:30were surprised for the next one. Someone who's being a big, big down
- 1:25:33at the Marvel Factory. You could say he's written something from basically he's the
- 1:25:38writer of a recent Marvel film and he's gonna be coming on this show to
- 1:25:41talk about an episode of the Simpsons. So I'm very excited to have that.
- 1:25:44That's gonna be the next revisited episode here on four finger discount. But
- 1:25:46yes, you get early ad free access to all of those shows by being
- 1:25:49a supporter, so we would love for your support there as well. But
- 1:25:54this has been the Italian Bob. Next week is Simpsons or next episode it's
- 1:25:57Simpson's Christmas Stories. This is Davis. Any final words for those incredible listeners
- 1:26:01out there, We hope you've enjoyed this multicultural hohoi
