- 2:30Speaker 2: Canaal Charleston Humane Association with this week's Adopt Me Please
- 2:33Speaker 2: Pet of the Week. I do want to mention that
- 2:34Speaker 2: I am going to be on vacation next week and
- 2:38Speaker 2: I'm southbound, you know, so I'm I'm out next week.
- 2:43Speaker 2: So a combination of folks I understand from Dale Cooper
- 2:46Speaker 2: are going to be philadephy. I think Coop's going to
- 2:47Speaker 2: take a couple. I do believe Andrew Donaldson is going
- 2:50Speaker 2: to jump in here as well. And the lady who's
- 2:53Speaker 2: sending to my immediate right is also going to settle
- 2:59Speaker 2: in as well next week, and that is Canaan County
- 3:01Speaker 2: Commissioner Natalie Tenant.
- 3:03Speaker 5: How you doing.
- 3:04Speaker 6: I'm doing well. I'm excited about this.
- 3:07Speaker 2: You got Wednesday, You're going to be yes, Yes, I do.
- 3:10Speaker 2: And Wednesday we'll have Millie Snyder with it because that's her.
- 3:13Speaker 2: That's her Wednesday, So you and Millie get to talk
- 3:15Speaker 2: some stuff there next week we.
- 3:17Speaker 6: Can talk a lot of things. I'm contemplating how long
- 3:20Speaker 6: to have her come in, and there are so many
- 3:24Speaker 6: ideas on guests that I have.
- 3:26Speaker 2: Okay, well you only have like three segments, so keep
- 3:29Speaker 2: that in mind unless you bring them all in at
- 3:31Speaker 2: one time. But well, we'll talk to Natalie coming up
- 3:33Speaker 2: a little bit later on. All right, let's go to
- 3:35Speaker 2: the phone. Sown just bringing Angie Gilden water from the
- 3:37Speaker 2: Canal Charleston. You made association with this week's adopt Me.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Please put of the week Angie. Good morning, and welcome
- 3:42Speaker 2: to the show.
- 3:43Speaker 7: Good morning.
- 3:44Speaker 8: I'm happy to be here, all right.
- 3:45Speaker 2: And I've also got with me Knaan County Commissioner Natalie Tenant.
- 3:49Speaker 2: So I don't know you two know each other, not
- 3:51Speaker 2: Natalie meet me.
- 3:52Speaker 9: Natalie.
- 3:54Speaker 6: Yes, you've been into the commission meetings. Thank you for
- 3:57Speaker 6: what you're doing for the county, for the stake.
- 4:00Speaker 7: Oh, I wouldn't have it any other way.
- 4:02Speaker 2: And Natalie, if I didn't get send you this ahead
- 4:05Speaker 2: of time, but if you want to, if you've got
- 4:06Speaker 2: the old Facebook thing there on your phone, if you
- 4:08Speaker 2: go to Dave Allen Radio, you can see our pet
- 4:11Speaker 2: of the week picture. It's already posted on there with
- 4:13Speaker 2: a description of said critter. And so, yeah, I have
- 4:17Speaker 2: to say, Angie, I've never heard you fangirl out over
- 4:21Speaker 2: anybody like you did over Coach Kid. I will not
- 4:24Speaker 2: forget that when I brought Coach Kidd in one day
- 4:26Speaker 2: just to kind of hang out with me, and it
- 4:28Speaker 2: was like, you know, and I guess of your age group.
- 4:31Speaker 2: It was like you met in sync in the backstreet
- 4:33Speaker 2: boys all rolled up.
- 4:33Speaker 5: Into one right.
- 4:35Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 4:35Speaker 8: Absolutely, you didn't.
- 4:37Speaker 5: Act like that, you know, the first time you talk
- 4:38Speaker 5: to me.
- 4:39Speaker 7: I'm just saying, well, we have more of a rapport
- 4:44Speaker 7: I have more of a relationship.
- 4:46Speaker 2: Okay, I got yeah, I got you all right. So
- 4:48Speaker 2: as you know the way this works, our adopt me
- 4:50Speaker 2: please Speda. The week has brought to you by almost
- 4:52Speaker 2: having interiors in South Charleston, Moore and them in just
- 4:55Speaker 2: a little bit tell us about this week spedial the
- 4:58Speaker 2: week and as always, you can see their picture and
- 5:00Speaker 2: bio on my Facebook page Dave Allen Radio, also the
- 5:03Speaker 2: WCCHS network Facebook page and at Dave A seventy.
- 5:06Speaker 5: On X tell us about Marty Supreme.
- 5:12Speaker 7: So, Marty Supreme is certainly you used the word critter earlier,
- 5:16Speaker 7: and I certainly used that word to describe him. He's
- 5:19Speaker 7: a very odd looking cat. He's got really really long
- 5:22Speaker 7: legs and his tail is kind of like possum like.
- 5:26Speaker 7: He's just an odd looking cat, but he is so sweet.
- 5:30Speaker 7: He's two years old, neutered, and he is making the
- 5:33Speaker 7: big move to South rich pet Co today, so he
- 5:36Speaker 7: will be available for an option at Petco if you
- 5:39Speaker 7: want to stop buying or you're in the area and
- 5:41Speaker 7: want to say hello to him. But yeah, it's Marty Supreme.
- 5:44Speaker 7: To my knowledge, he gets along with other animals, just
- 5:48Speaker 7: slow introductions as always, and I think he would be
- 5:50Speaker 7: perfect for a home with kids as well.
- 5:52Speaker 2: I've got to ask you, because I always ask you
- 5:55Speaker 2: about the names, and does Marty Supreme mean something? Because
- 5:57Speaker 2: it doesn't mean anything to me, but to you, Angie,
- 5:59Speaker 2: I'm sure it does.
- 6:01Speaker 7: Yes, so over, I think it was like Christmas time
- 6:03Speaker 7: a movie came out. Okay, okay, Marty Supreme and he's
- 6:08Speaker 7: white like a ping pong ball.
- 6:10Speaker 2: So okay, have you seen that movie, Natalie? No, okay,
- 6:14Speaker 2: I recognize the title, but I've not seen.
- 6:17Speaker 6: The Timothy Schalla may too. Come on, is.
- 6:21Speaker 5: He somebody with the girls?
- 6:22Speaker 1: Ye say?
- 6:23Speaker 5: Is that somebody that all the girls like, Angie?
- 6:25Speaker 3: Natalie? Is that true?
- 6:26Speaker 6: Oh?
- 6:27Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, that's why he earned his name.
- 6:29Speaker 6: Okay, and the cat looks like Timothy Chalamagne. We didn't
- 6:35Speaker 6: say when I got to host. Had to be truthful.
- 6:38Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, you can say whatever you want.
- 6:42Speaker 2: But all right, so the pictures posted Dave Allen Radio
- 6:44Speaker 2: and Facebook and at Dave a seventy on X and
- 6:47Speaker 2: WHS Network facebook page. Your number of residents at the shelter, Angie, are.
- 6:54Speaker 7: High right now, They are extremely high. For the past
- 6:58Speaker 7: I would say probably about two weeks, we've taken them
- 7:01Speaker 7: at least ten animals per day. So any animal that
- 7:05Speaker 7: leaves the door, whether it's getting fostered or getting adopted,
- 7:08Speaker 7: we're kind of just replacing that with other animals in need.
- 7:11Speaker 7: So we have stayed like right at like the four
- 7:13Speaker 7: fifty to four seventy range as far as residents go.
- 7:18Speaker 7: So fostering or adopting right now and helping us move
- 7:21Speaker 7: animals I was building is more crucial now than ever.
- 7:25Speaker 2: I know, you guys go out a lot of places.
- 7:27Speaker 2: I saw where we had an event at the Kanawha
- 7:30Speaker 2: County Public Library earlier this week. If someone would like
- 7:32Speaker 2: to host you guys for an event, what all goes
- 7:35Speaker 2: into that?
- 7:35Speaker 5: I mean, what do they need to do?
- 7:38Speaker 7: They essentially just need to reach out to me on
- 7:40Speaker 7: that emails Angie at adult Charleston dot com. You tell
- 7:43Speaker 7: me where your event is and what time if we
- 7:46Speaker 7: can make it. I do the rest of the work,
- 7:48Speaker 7: and our volunteers will do the rest of the work.
- 7:51Speaker 7: You just need to tell me.
- 7:52Speaker 8: Where to be, all right.
- 7:53Speaker 5: And again, now, are you guys going to be out
- 7:55Speaker 5: anywhere this weekend?
- 7:56Speaker 7: We are not. I'm actually after today, I'm going to
- 8:00Speaker 7: be heading out to Cincinnati for the weekend, So we
- 8:02Speaker 7: won't be anywhere this weekend.
- 8:04Speaker 2: All right, But do you guys, I mean throughout the summer,
- 8:06Speaker 2: you're out of a lot of different places, and you
- 8:07Speaker 2: mentioned the relationship that you have with pet COO and
- 8:11Speaker 2: you have the pet Co in South Ridge and the
- 8:12Speaker 2: one in tays Value. You guys are frequently there as well,
- 8:15Speaker 2: and that's a great partner for you on.
- 8:17Speaker 7: Yes, Actually, our New Jersey partnership where we send animals
- 8:21Speaker 7: is also a pet Co, So it is a great
- 8:24Speaker 7: partnership for us through adoptions through pet Co actually in
- 8:29Speaker 7: turn help other shelter pets in need in the future
- 8:32Speaker 7: because for you know, the adoptions that we do through
- 8:34Speaker 7: pet Co, we get grant funding for it, which is
- 8:37Speaker 7: extremely helpful.
- 8:39Speaker 2: And I want to talk about the Bissle Pet Foundations
- 8:42Speaker 2: Empty the Shelters event two.
- 8:44Speaker 8: Yes, this is.
- 8:45Speaker 7: The last weekend to you know, adopt during the Empty
- 8:48Speaker 7: the Shelters adoption special. Thanks to this Wile Pet Foundation
- 8:53Speaker 7: adult dog six months and older are twenty dollars to
- 8:55Speaker 7: adopt puppies or fifty dollars to adopt Kathy kittens are
- 8:58Speaker 7: seventy dollars to adopt.
- 9:00Speaker 2: All right, Angie, I appreciate you taking time at your
- 9:02Speaker 2: schedule to be and now, as I said, I'm going
- 9:04Speaker 2: to be on vacation next week and Friday, I think
- 9:06Speaker 2: Dale Cooper is going to be hosting the show, so
- 9:08Speaker 2: you'll be in the cable hands of one coop next week.
- 9:12Speaker 8: All right, that sounds great.
- 9:13Speaker 7: I have a good vacation.
- 9:14Speaker 5: All right, thank you very much.
- 9:15Speaker 3: Again.
- 9:16Speaker 2: AT's saying ge get a water from the Gonnal Charlestony
- 9:18Speaker 2: Main Association with this week's Adopt Me Please pet of
- 9:20Speaker 2: the Week Marty's Supreme. He's an odd looking fella, long legs,
- 9:25Speaker 2: possum like tail. He's around two years old, neotered and
- 9:30Speaker 2: living it up. Natalie at Petco and south Ridge good
- 9:32Speaker 2: looking cat.
- 9:33Speaker 6: Yes he is, but he needs to have his own
- 9:35Speaker 6: little supreme home.
- 9:37Speaker 5: Are you? I said, you're a cat person, right, yeah?
- 9:40Speaker 6: I actually that's why I run behind. I have three children,
- 9:43Speaker 6: a German shepherd that's a child, an almost twenty one
- 9:47Speaker 6: year old cat. Wow, that's the difficulty because the puffy cats,
- 9:52Speaker 6: which is a I didn't know what they were called
- 9:54Speaker 6: Maine coon cats. They're big and I rescued him from
- 9:56Speaker 6: the farm. He comes and eats the twenty one year
- 9:59Speaker 6: old food. So I got to carry around the twenty
- 10:01Speaker 6: one year old cat to the bathroom and close the door.
- 10:04Speaker 6: And then he doesn't always eat.
- 10:05Speaker 2: It's I don't know that I've ever heard of a
- 10:08Speaker 2: cat being that old some people.
- 10:10Speaker 6: I mean, I really wanted him to be the oldest cat,
- 10:12Speaker 6: but they have him like thirty years and I don't
- 10:14Speaker 6: think he's gonna make it, but to be twenty one years.
- 10:18Speaker 6: My mother's been gone fifteen My mother knew this cat
- 10:21Speaker 6: and she's been gone fifteen years. My daughter's twenty four,
- 10:24Speaker 6: and it's every major event in her life this cat
- 10:28Speaker 6: has been part of.
- 10:30Speaker 2: We had a text here and unfortunately this is on me.
- 10:32Speaker 2: I let Angie go before, but it involves you too, Okay,
- 10:37Speaker 2: it says once again reading on the shelter Facebook page
- 10:39Speaker 2: about a cruelty case involving nine adult dogs. These cases
- 10:42Speaker 2: are out of control. Since Commissioner Natalie Tenant is there
- 10:46Speaker 2: is there any way this can be brought up at
- 10:47Speaker 2: a County Commission meeting and work with the city and
- 10:50Speaker 2: state legislator in general, this has got to stop.
- 10:54Speaker 6: Well, I think in terms of if you want harsher
- 10:57Speaker 6: harsher results than it is with the legislature. If some
- 11:03Speaker 6: cruelty cases are felonies, aren't.
- 11:04Speaker 5: They Yeah, absolutely, so.
- 11:08Speaker 2: That the County Commission, other than an education campaign and
- 11:10Speaker 2: people that are abusing animals aren't big on education anyway.
- 11:13Speaker 2: So I don't know that you were going to be
- 11:14Speaker 2: able to do a lot as a county commission other
- 11:16Speaker 2: than to keep doing what you do with the shelters
- 11:18Speaker 2: and other others.
- 11:19Speaker 6: Well, and if we expose I think if we expose
- 11:21Speaker 6: it more and say, you know, if you if you
- 11:24Speaker 6: get or or that's the thing too, if you get
- 11:27Speaker 6: in over your head, because I think that's the problem.
- 11:30Speaker 6: And I think that people, you know, we care for animals,
- 11:32Speaker 6: and we think that we can keep doing it, that
- 11:34Speaker 6: that could be our purpose in life is to care
- 11:36Speaker 6: for animals, and we get in over our head and
- 11:39Speaker 6: people need to realize that it's okay to ask for help.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I mean, look, I have two cats. That's plenty.
- 11:46Speaker 2: If I could, I'd find homes for all of these,
- 11:49Speaker 2: all these pets. But I also know I can't take
- 11:52Speaker 2: any more. And the ones we've had the last three
- 11:54Speaker 2: have just showed up at our house. We didn't go
- 11:55Speaker 2: out and get them. They just literally just showed up.
- 11:59Speaker 6: What if another one showed up, I would.
- 12:01Speaker 5: Find I had work like heck to try to find
- 12:03Speaker 5: a home for it.
- 12:04Speaker 6: Uh. You wouldn't have the inside the two inside cats
- 12:07Speaker 6: and then an outside cat. He just left fed.
- 12:10Speaker 2: No, no, well the cat we have now, well, uh
- 12:13Speaker 2: we have two. We have Grady and Whalen. Whalen. We
- 12:17Speaker 2: because he was so friendly, we figured he belonged to somebody,
- 12:20Speaker 2: so we fed him, uh you know, for about two weeks,
- 12:23Speaker 2: and all of our neighbors said, oh yeah, that cat
- 12:25Speaker 2: comes around every morning. That cat comes around every evening.
- 12:27Speaker 2: So he wasn't starving today about his strategy of the imagination,
- 12:30Speaker 2: and so he came in.
- 12:34Speaker 5: We tried.
- 12:34Speaker 2: We put it out on Facebook. We said, hey, we
- 12:36Speaker 2: got this cat. It obviously belongs to somebody who was
- 12:38Speaker 2: already neutered. He and we tried. We tried, and after
- 12:43Speaker 2: because I told my wife, I said, once this cat
- 12:45Speaker 2: comes in the house, that's it. You know, he's mine
- 12:48Speaker 2: at this point, actually he's hers, Grady's mine, and so
- 12:52Speaker 2: so yeah, so no, if another one shows up, we
- 12:54Speaker 2: will try to uh, we'll try to find a home
- 12:58Speaker 2: for Texas. Dave Creueton just wants to say congratulations getting
- 13:01Speaker 2: selected to be in the West Rginian Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
- 13:03Speaker 5: Enjoy your vacation next week. Quickly, the story of Creuton. Natalie.
- 13:07Speaker 2: In case you don't know, I've done this Adopt Me.
- 13:09Speaker 2: I've done the show six years. I've done the Adopt
- 13:11Speaker 2: Me Please put of the week for probably five years
- 13:13Speaker 2: of that. And we had a dog named Crewton. Uh
- 13:16Speaker 2: and uh we put him up for adoption, you know,
- 13:20Speaker 2: with the with the shelter folks. This lovely family from
- 13:24Speaker 2: Saint Albans adopted Crewton. He's become a he that's his name.
- 13:28Speaker 2: Nobody knows where the name came from.
- 13:30Speaker 3: Uh, he didn't know.
- 13:31Speaker 2: They asked him. He said he didn't know where he
- 13:32Speaker 2: came from. And they have made the social media start
- 13:36Speaker 2: out of this dog, the Chronicles of Creuton.
- 13:38Speaker 5: It's like a hashtag.
- 13:40Speaker 6: It's on Facebook or I.
- 13:42Speaker 5: Don't know, Texter, you'll have to let me know.
- 13:44Speaker 6: Uh.
- 13:46Speaker 5: I don't do either one of those.
- 13:47Speaker 2: So but anyway, crouton, they bring Crewton to see me
- 13:50Speaker 2: when I'm out at like events. Creuton came to the
- 13:52Speaker 2: station a couple of weeks ago. Uh, they brought him.
- 13:55Speaker 2: So that's that's if you hear me talking about Creuton, that's.
- 13:57Speaker 6: Cruton's going to the Hall of Fame dinner and induction.
- 14:02Speaker 5: He may go with me. Yeah, we'll see. I do
- 14:05Speaker 5: want to remind you that we do the adopting.

- 17:53Speaker 14: Thanks for having me this morning.
- 17:54Speaker 2: And you are in the presence of Kanawh County Commissioner

- 18:04Speaker 2: party going on to our talk about it?
- 18:07Speaker 15: We do, we do.
- 18:07Speaker 14: This is the Clay Center's first ever block party. It's
- 18:11Speaker 14: a really way, a fun way for us to kick
- 18:12Speaker 14: off the summer. We're going big. We've got the whole
- 18:16Speaker 14: front plaza filled with construction vehicles, fire trucks, care Teeth
- 18:21Speaker 14: providing one of their art buses. I mean, it's gonna
- 18:24Speaker 14: be jammed pack. We're gonna have large bubbles, rocket launches.
- 18:28Speaker 16: And that's just the front of the building.
- 18:30Speaker 14: We have a whole other set of activities inside in
- 18:33Speaker 14: our sculpture garden. We've got Jeff Pearson from the Office
- 18:36Speaker 14: of Public Art, along with a handful of other really
- 18:38Speaker 14: talented artists coming to do demos. There's going to be
- 18:42Speaker 14: sidewalk chart talk year Old going on back there. I mean,
- 18:45Speaker 14: it's it's going to be a very busy, fun day.
- 18:48Speaker 6: Taylor, this is Natalie. This sounds wonderful and this is
- 18:52Speaker 6: the first time you've had it. Why why pull things
- 18:55Speaker 6: outside of the Clay Center. Why do something? And it's
- 18:59Speaker 6: it's free for everyone, right Yep, Everything.
- 19:03Speaker 14: Out front is free. The activities inside in the back
- 19:05Speaker 14: do come with museum admission, but it's.
- 19:07Speaker 16: Just a fun way for us.
- 19:09Speaker 14: Who I mean, a block party really just invius the
- 19:12Speaker 14: essence of the community coming together and summer in Charleston
- 19:17Speaker 14: is really exactly that. I mean, between festival were God
- 19:20Speaker 14: Live on the levee, all the events happening in Slack Plaza,
- 19:24Speaker 14: I mean, it's just an endless bound of activities. And
- 19:27Speaker 14: the Clay Centerer wanted to do something to be a
- 19:30Speaker 14: part of that and let the community know that we
- 19:32Speaker 14: are grateful for everything they do and just you know,
- 19:37Speaker 14: take off the summer with a bang, with a nice
- 19:39Speaker 14: fun way for everyone to be outside inside and just
- 19:42Speaker 14: have a good time.
- 19:43Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 19:43Speaker 6: I think this is a great opportunity for folks to
- 19:46Speaker 6: get a taste because, believe it or not, as much
- 19:49Speaker 6: as you and I talk about it, as much as
- 19:51Speaker 6: we go to events and things like that, there are
- 19:53Speaker 6: some folks who may not still have had a touch
- 19:58Speaker 6: of the Clay Center. Do you find that the case?
- 20:01Speaker 7: Oh?
- 20:02Speaker 14: Absolutely, I mean the number of times I'm at event.
- 20:05Speaker 14: I mean a great example of that. I was at
- 20:07Speaker 14: Shawnee for Halloween doing a table for the Clay Center,
- 20:10Speaker 14: handing out cannedy and I had two families who came
- 20:13Speaker 14: by who were new to the area.
- 20:15Speaker 16: One was new to the area, had just moved.
- 20:17Speaker 14: For work, and another head lived there their entire life.
- 20:19Speaker 14: Neither of them had even heard of the Clay Center.
- 20:22Speaker 14: So having that impact and being able to realize that
- 20:24Speaker 14: there's this wonderful resource in the community, it's extremely important.
- 20:30Speaker 6: For the Saturday event. I see that big machines, big excitement,
- 20:37Speaker 6: and I get enamored when I walk around these machines.
- 20:41Speaker 6: So I understand little kids.
- 20:43Speaker 11: Now.
- 20:44Speaker 6: Tell me about who's bringing the machines and what folks
- 20:47Speaker 6: might get to do.
- 20:49Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 20:49Speaker 14: Absolutely. So we have about eight to ten different organizations
- 20:54Speaker 14: and companies within the community. Charleston Fire Department, Charleston Police Department,
- 20:59Speaker 14: kr he V one hundred is going to be there
- 21:02Speaker 14: for a bit. The Conall County Public Library is bringing
- 21:06Speaker 14: their bookmobile. We have two construction companies who are both
- 21:09Speaker 14: bringing a couple pieces of equipment.
- 21:12Speaker 16: Our clay Go truck is going to be up there.
- 21:15Speaker 16: I think that might be all of them.
- 21:17Speaker 14: Apologies if I'm missing someone, but I know when we
- 21:20Speaker 14: had our big truck Day two years ago, I took
- 21:23Speaker 14: my now four year old to it and he was
- 21:26Speaker 14: absolutely obsessed. I mean, any anything that has wheels on it,
- 21:30Speaker 14: he's on board. So they'll be able to, you know,
- 21:34Speaker 14: climb on some of these vehicles, get inside of them,
- 21:37Speaker 14: experience the wonder and joy of big trucks, the big cars,
- 21:42Speaker 14: big fun.
- 21:42Speaker 6: Yes, big machines. I see it's it's a can Ale
- 21:45Speaker 6: Stone Company and kne Contracting. Do you I mean, I
- 21:48Speaker 6: have a feeling you can touch these machines. Do you
- 21:51Speaker 6: think we'll be able to jump up in them and
- 21:54Speaker 6: act like we're digging and moving earth? I mean, I
- 21:58Speaker 6: don't want to get people's hosts much. Oh I love it.
- 22:04Speaker 6: I really am. I'm I'm enamored by earth moving equipment
- 22:09Speaker 6: because you think about this and it's like, wow, yesterday
- 22:13Speaker 6: this was over here and now it's it's over there.
- 22:17Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:17Speaker 6: I'm a I'm a mechanical I'm a mechanical person. But
- 22:21Speaker 6: Taylor talk a little bit. I had written a letter
- 22:25Speaker 6: of support to the cover of the Clay Center to
- 22:27Speaker 6: get some money, and I used an example of a
- 22:32Speaker 6: young man who had gone and visited the Clay Center
- 22:35Speaker 6: and had the opportunity to sit on the bed when
- 22:37Speaker 6: the Van Go exhibit was there. I don't know if
- 22:39Speaker 6: that was a loud or not. Then his senior project,
- 22:42Speaker 6: he had to make an art senior project, and he
- 22:46Speaker 6: made it of the Van Go exhibit that he had
- 22:49Speaker 6: seen at the at the Clay Center. I mean, that's
- 22:51Speaker 6: like exactly what you want to happen when we when
- 22:54Speaker 6: we talk about the Clay Center for the Arts and Sciences.
- 22:59Speaker 16: It really is.
- 23:00Speaker 14: We have this wonderful magazine that's going to be coming
- 23:03Speaker 14: out very very soon that tells a lot of stories
- 23:06Speaker 14: about people who have been impacted or have contributed to
- 23:10Speaker 14: impact through the Clay Center. And one of those stories
- 23:12Speaker 14: is about this gentleman who started out coming to camps
- 23:16Speaker 14: at the Clay Center when he was a kid. When
- 23:17Speaker 14: he was in high school and into college, he started.
- 23:20Speaker 16: Working at the Clay Center as a.
- 23:22Speaker 14: Discovery leader on our education team, and now he's well
- 23:25Speaker 14: advanced into his career and he pursued a stem related degree.
- 23:29Speaker 14: So that inspiration started as a child at the Clay
- 23:32Speaker 14: Center and has impacted him throughout his entire life. And
- 23:34Speaker 14: that is just the type of thing that we are
- 23:37Speaker 14: so proud to be a part of and really just
- 23:39Speaker 14: central to who we are as an organization.
- 23:42Speaker 6: That's great, I mean, and that's what it is meant
- 23:45Speaker 6: to be, is that you get a touch of it.
- 23:47Speaker 6: And that's what this Saturday is about. It's called a
- 23:49Speaker 6: block party. Tell us the Times again, and I guess
- 23:53Speaker 6: you could stay the whole three or four hours, right, Oh.
- 23:57Speaker 14: Yeah, absolutely, So the event goes from tend to so
- 24:00Speaker 14: anyone planning on going to the Charlie West Barbecue Fest,
- 24:03Speaker 14: it's perfect tim and you can make a whole day
- 24:05Speaker 14: out of it in Charleston, come to the Clay Center
- 24:07Speaker 14: first and then you know, pop on over to that afterwards.
- 24:10Speaker 14: I believe that starts it too. But we've got your
- 24:13Speaker 14: cafes open, which we'll have plenty of food options, drink,
- 24:16Speaker 14: snacks and things for people. You can come inside to
- 24:18Speaker 14: get out of the heat for a bit if you
- 24:20Speaker 14: want to. We're gonna have live music. Mark Davis's Final
- 24:23Speaker 14: Village will be out front playing live music throughout the event,
- 24:26Speaker 14: so I mean it's it's really just a fun celebration.
- 24:29Speaker 6: Yeah, and just to get a feel for everything that's
- 24:32Speaker 6: over there. And then I want folks, you know, we
- 24:35Speaker 6: talk about this because I've had the privilege of since
- 24:38Speaker 6: I'm County Commissioner, I get to serve on the board
- 24:41Speaker 6: for the Clay Center. So I hear, you know, the struggles,
- 24:45Speaker 6: the challenges and the huge successes that the Clay Center has.
- 24:50Speaker 6: And I love the cafe and I want people to
- 24:54Speaker 6: use it a little bit more in terms of Yeah,
- 24:57Speaker 6: I mean not to take anything away from on Town,
- 25:00Speaker 6: but if you have to have a meeting, go and
- 25:03Speaker 6: have it at the cafe. And I've started doing that
- 25:06Speaker 6: and it was a great you know because you can
- 25:08Speaker 6: still walk around. If you don't have full admission to
- 25:11Speaker 6: the to the Clay Center, you can still go into
- 25:14Speaker 6: the cafe for free, go get something to eat, you know,
- 25:16Speaker 6: maybe view from afar. But I would like people to
- 25:19Speaker 6: have meetings there and I'll continue to have my office
- 25:22Speaker 6: hours there.
- 25:24Speaker 14: I do like a good trip down. It's nice getting
- 25:26Speaker 14: out of my office upstairs and coming down to the
- 25:28Speaker 14: cafe or you know, just being.
- 25:30Speaker 16: Able to also just see the joy of the kids
- 25:32Speaker 16: running around.
- 25:33Speaker 14: Or those who are brave enough to climb the climbing sculpture,
- 25:36Speaker 14: because I know I am not brave enough to do it, so.
- 25:39Speaker 7: I will watch.
- 25:40Speaker 14: I will watch from the seats of the cafe as
- 25:41Speaker 14: they enjoy all that.
- 25:42Speaker 5: Now, Natally, is that something you would do? Would you
- 25:44Speaker 5: climb that?
- 25:45Speaker 6: Definitely?
- 25:45Speaker 5: Of course you would have no doubt.
- 25:47Speaker 6: I mean I would get stuck though. I had my
- 25:49Speaker 6: little nephew. They came down from Marion County, my great
- 25:52Speaker 6: nephew actually with my niece for wildcrats and he just
- 25:57Speaker 6: had a blast. And she just said, is this always here?
- 26:00Speaker 6: I said yes. So it's like if I can get them,
- 26:03Speaker 6: I mean, they won't come visit me, but they'll come
- 26:05Speaker 6: visit the Clay Center. So right there.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Yeah, maybe we need to, you know, to do an
- 26:11Speaker 2: education program for people here, because I mean, people come
- 26:14Speaker 2: from out of town, and as you said, sometimes people
- 26:16Speaker 2: in their own hometowns and it's not exclusive to Charleston.
- 26:19Speaker 5: Don't even know what they have.
- 26:20Speaker 2: But Dave Allen Show and five Eddieline Brown Twop part
- 26:22Speaker 2: by the All New Generations Ford of Hurricane Visit Generations
- 26:25Speaker 2: for dot Com Taylor I got a question for you
- 26:27Speaker 2: from the text line. Is there a charge for parking
- 26:29Speaker 2: for this event?
- 26:32Speaker 14: We have no fancy event parking. We have our parking
- 26:35Speaker 14: lot that you do pay using pay park Mobile. Great
- 26:40Speaker 14: thing with that is if you have the app, you
- 26:42Speaker 14: can adjust the time. If you're going to be there
- 26:44Speaker 14: an hour or two, decide to stay longer, you can
- 26:45Speaker 14: make those adjustment. There's also other street parking options. I mean,
- 26:48Speaker 14: we are a short walk from Capital Street, all those
- 26:52Speaker 14: areas that have parking options as well as well as
- 26:54Speaker 14: street parking. So funny of parking options.
- 26:56Speaker 7: In the area.
- 26:57Speaker 2: All right, Taylor, got to let you go. I appreciate
- 26:59Speaker 2: you stopping buying again. They'll give us all the details.
- 27:01Speaker 2: Give me thirty seconds on everything tomorrow, the time, and
- 27:03Speaker 2: so on and so forth. Of course you can learn
- 27:05Speaker 2: more at the Clay Center website and also on their
- 27:06Speaker 2: social media.
- 27:07Speaker 5: But give us the details for tomorrow.
- 27:10Speaker 14: Absolutely, Saturday, May sixteen to ten am to two pm,
- 27:14Speaker 14: and we've got big trucks, live music, rocket launches art demos,
- 27:18Speaker 14: a bunch of fun activities, A great day.
- 27:20Speaker 16: For the family to come out and have some fun.
- 27:22Speaker 5: All right, Taylor, I appreciate you being here and good
- 27:24Speaker 5: luck with everything tomorrow.
- 27:25Speaker 14: Thanks a lot, Yes, thanks appreciate it. You guys have
- 27:28Speaker 14: a good one you as well.
- 27:29Speaker 2: She was talking about the all the things Natalie that
- 27:31Speaker 2: are going on tomorrow, and Charlie West Barbecue Fest has
- 27:33Speaker 2: gone on also tomorrow in South Charleston, they're having their
- 27:36Speaker 2: annual Armed Forces Day Parade, sixty seventh annual event. I'll
- 27:39Speaker 2: be there with ninety eight to seven, a mountain wild
- 27:41Speaker 2: and wonderful classic rock. I think a couple of other
- 27:44Speaker 2: stations are going to be there as well. And then
- 27:46Speaker 2: as we said, V one hundred is going to be
- 27:47Speaker 2: down to Clay Center tomorrow.
- 27:49Speaker 5: So there's so much.
- 27:50Speaker 6: And well, can I add one thing to you? Go
- 27:53Speaker 6: ahead the Quick Community Center. You haven't been up there.
- 27:58Speaker 6: It's their Ramp Dinner, their annual ramp dinner. I received
- 28:03Speaker 6: this message a long time ago, and it's it's after
- 28:07Speaker 6: the election, which you know politicians go up there, but
- 28:11Speaker 6: it's a it's a great ramp dinner. You go. You
- 28:14Speaker 6: go up the road, turn right and quick and go
- 28:17Speaker 6: on out there. It's a nice little drive and everything
- 28:20Speaker 6: is so green, so you can hit that and all
- 28:24Speaker 6: kinds of fun events that you can.
- 28:25Speaker 2: Find concert's going on in the area. You got the
- 28:28Speaker 2: Dirty Birds are in town tomorrow night. So there's so
- 28:31Speaker 2: many different things going by the way, we got to
- 28:32Speaker 2: work on your pronunciation of that.
- 28:34Speaker 5: It's ramps long ramps.
- 28:38Speaker 6: Oh, I can get there, believe me.
- 28:40Speaker 2: All Right, we're gonna well you've been down here long
- 28:42Speaker 2: with us, you probably can't. We're gonna take a break
- 28:44Speaker 2: and when we come back. There was a church in
- 28:47Speaker 2: Nisure and Natalie celebrating there one hundred and twenty fifth anniversary.
- 28:50Speaker 2: So we are going to talk to those solks when
- 28:51Speaker 2: we come back.
- 28:52Speaker 5: BLUs a little more.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Some more community stuff canas Cities got a giant yard

- 31:05Speaker 2: media sites as well. Natalie Tennant Knawh County Commissioner is here.
- 31:08Speaker 2: One hundred and twenty five years. It's a long time
- 31:11Speaker 2: in the first bat.
- 31:12Speaker 6: Of our country.
- 31:14Speaker 5: See she's got mass skills too.
- 31:16Speaker 2: A long time and the first Baptist Church of Nicher
- 31:19Speaker 2: was celebrating one hundred and twenty five years this weekend.
- 31:21Speaker 2: Here to talk about it is the church pastor of
- 31:24Speaker 2: the Reverend Michael Perry. Good morning, sir, and welcome to
- 31:27Speaker 2: the show.
- 31:29Speaker 8: Good morning, Dave. I'm so excited to be able to
- 31:32Speaker 8: share with you all how you doing this morning.
- 31:33Speaker 5: I'm doing fine.
- 31:34Speaker 2: I've also got Natalie Tennant here with us, who's a
- 31:36Speaker 2: Knawk County commissioner, and I'm on vacation next week, so
- 31:38Speaker 2: she's going to be subbing for me one day next week,
- 31:41Speaker 2: so she's here as well, so you can talk to
- 31:42Speaker 2: both of us.
- 31:44Speaker 8: Oh perfect, well, good morning.
- 31:45Speaker 6: Good morning. It's good to have you on. And so
- 31:48Speaker 6: you were the first pastor there, right.
- 31:52Speaker 18: Not christ years old long rule number one, don't insult
- 31:58Speaker 18: the gay day.
- 32:02Speaker 17: That that's a.
- 32:02Speaker 8: Bad rule to have. We're just as we're just as
- 32:05Speaker 8: vulnerable when it comes to those kind of jokes as
- 32:07Speaker 8: everybody else.
- 32:08Speaker 5: Pastor.
- 32:09Speaker 19: What do you know about the actual history of the church, Yes,
- 32:12Speaker 19: so nineteen oh one May thirteenth, I believe it was
- 32:18Speaker 19: actually known as Locke seven Baptist Church with little farming
- 32:21Speaker 19: community before Nitro had been established.
- 32:25Speaker 8: And about nineteen seventeen, whenever World War One was starting
- 32:28Speaker 8: to go about, we were blessed to have the name
- 32:33Speaker 8: Nitro adopted into the town, and not too long afterward
- 32:36Speaker 8: first Baptist Church in Nitro became the name.
- 32:39Speaker 5: And what's your congregation like now?
- 32:41Speaker 2: I mean I don't mean what their personalities like pastor
- 32:44Speaker 2: don't go there, but I mean how many Baptists.
- 32:48Speaker 6: I think that might tell you, right.
- 32:50Speaker 2: How many how many people you have their attending services
- 32:54Speaker 2: on a regular basis.
- 32:56Speaker 8: The Good Lord has blessed us with roughly about seventy
- 32:59Speaker 8: people and have some families and some younger ones, and
- 33:02Speaker 8: I mean it is a nice blend of demographics there.
- 33:06Speaker 2: Well, that's what we like to see. What is it
- 33:08Speaker 2: that makes this church so special? And to have lasted
- 33:10Speaker 2: this long.
- 33:12Speaker 8: Well, first and foremost our Lord, to favor Jesus Christ
- 33:16Speaker 8: and his grace and by his deasen resurrection, we've had
- 33:19Speaker 8: an opportunity to serve for this long. It's only by
- 33:21Speaker 8: Him that we are here. And what makes it so
- 33:25Speaker 8: special is just the history. I've had a chance the
- 33:29Speaker 8: last couple of weeks to kind of look into the
- 33:31Speaker 8: history and we've been sharing with the history with the
- 33:33Speaker 8: church as well. And it's amazing to see the dedication,
- 33:38Speaker 8: the discipline, and the love of people who serve, I
- 33:41Speaker 8: mean the existence of the church. By God, He's been
- 33:45Speaker 8: using these people for so long to serve and promote
- 33:49Speaker 8: his gospel, and it's just an amazing experience and amazing
- 33:53Speaker 8: to see it all unfold.
- 33:55Speaker 6: And I would imagine that there are some families who
- 33:58Speaker 6: have been there for quite a while. I'm thinking, I mean,
- 34:04Speaker 6: is it a possibility that you know, while I joke that,
- 34:07Speaker 6: you know, you were the first pastor one hundred twenty
- 34:09Speaker 6: five years ago, but are there some families that still
- 34:12Speaker 6: have that lineage as part of the church.
- 34:17Speaker 8: Oh? Absolutely, I mean we have people who have basically
- 34:20Speaker 8: been born and raised in that church for upwards of
- 34:23Speaker 8: fifty years, so I mean even almost half of the
- 34:26Speaker 8: existence of the church. Some of those families have been
- 34:29Speaker 8: involved and they still serve to this day.
- 34:32Speaker 6: So that's a good reason of why it stays there.
- 34:37Speaker 6: You know, you're serving forward, you also serve backward of
- 34:41Speaker 6: those who who came before you, but you certainly serve
- 34:45Speaker 6: excuse me, for the next generation. Also, So what are
- 34:48Speaker 6: some of the events that are taking place? Is it
- 34:52Speaker 6: just this weekend or is it a whole one hundred
- 34:55Speaker 6: and twenty five year year long celebration.
- 35:00Speaker 8: Well, you know, of course it's a continued celebration, but
- 35:03Speaker 8: specifically this weekend. What we're doing is on Saturday, So
- 35:07Speaker 8: tomorrow from one to four we're going to be extremely blessed.
- 35:10Speaker 8: Hopefully the weather is nice and Sunday for us, and
- 35:14Speaker 8: we have some gospel music plays some local groups that
- 35:17Speaker 8: are actually going to be there. We have the Laborers
- 35:21Speaker 8: Jerry Henson, Tony Nutter and Brothers of Faith. From one
- 35:24Speaker 8: to four we'll be blessing us with the gospel music.
- 35:27Speaker 8: We also have some free food, so we'll have some
- 35:29Speaker 8: hot dogs and chips and cookies as well as games.
- 35:32Speaker 8: That way, you know, for those younger ones who aren't
- 35:36Speaker 8: going to sit still for three hours, they have an
- 35:38Speaker 8: opportunity to play some games. Then for Sunday it's our
- 35:41Speaker 8: normal stuff. So we have Sunday school at nine pint
- 35:44Speaker 8: forty five with worship at eleven am, but the service
- 35:47Speaker 8: is going to be dedicated to God and his faithfulness
- 35:49Speaker 8: to us forever the course of one hundred and twenty
- 35:52Speaker 8: five years. Then at six pm also at First Bascha
- 35:56Speaker 8: Church of Nitro, we're going to be blessed with the
- 35:58Speaker 8: singing of the Dark Doctor at Luther King Chorus. Oh,
- 36:02Speaker 8: I've never heard them. They are a wonderful group of
- 36:05Speaker 8: faithful men that will be blessing us with some worship.
- 36:08Speaker 6: Oh that's that's great. So it is a whole weekend,
- 36:11Speaker 6: and this is all open to the public. You don't
- 36:13Speaker 6: have to be baptistally, right, you don't. You don't have
- 36:16Speaker 6: to be from Nitro.
- 36:18Speaker 8: Well, I mean, as long as you like food. I
- 36:20Speaker 8: know Baptists were known for the fistic centers. But if
- 36:23Speaker 8: you like food and good music, we would love for everybody, uh,
- 36:27Speaker 8: whether it's Nitro, Charleston, Huntington, whoever is able to be there,
- 36:31Speaker 8: we would love for them to come join us for
- 36:32Speaker 8: some worship.
- 36:33Speaker 2: I can tell you I was raised a free will Baptist,
- 36:36Speaker 2: or as we called it in southern West Virginia pastor
- 36:38Speaker 2: a free meal Baptist. And what free meal Baptist means
- 36:41Speaker 2: is that there's not a problem in the world. Some
- 36:43Speaker 2: chicken and dumplings can't cure, you know, no matter you
- 36:45Speaker 2: got lost, lost, your lost your job, you know, dog
- 36:48Speaker 2: got hit by car.
- 36:49Speaker 5: Whatever. Give give that baby some chicken and dumplings and they'll.
- 36:52Speaker 3: Be all right.
- 36:52Speaker 5: They'll be all right.
- 36:53Speaker 2: Give us the give us the details again of the
- 36:56Speaker 2: time and the place and and all the stuff. And
- 36:58Speaker 2: is there place you can learn more to have Facebook page,
- 37:00Speaker 2: website and anything like that.
- 37:02Speaker 8: Yes, yes, so again, so tomorrow Saturday, it's going to
- 37:06Speaker 8: be one to four again. It's going to be free food,
- 37:09Speaker 8: free music at first at the Church of Nitro address specifically,
- 37:13Speaker 8: it's twenty two hundred and second Avenue, Nitro, West Virginia.
- 37:17Speaker 8: You can find us on Facebook. We do have our
- 37:19Speaker 8: services on Facebook. We've also been hyping up some of
- 37:22Speaker 8: the musical groups, so if you if you're curious to
- 37:25Speaker 8: see how good they are. They are wonderful. But if
- 37:28Speaker 8: you're curious, you can go to the Facebook page and
- 37:30Speaker 8: find us on there. So again tomorrow from one to four.
- 37:35Speaker 8: Then on Sunday, everything is normal when it comes to
- 37:38Speaker 8: our services. We have Sunday school for all ages at
- 37:40Speaker 8: nine to forty five, morning worship at eleven. Then the
- 37:44Speaker 8: Doctor Martin Luther King Chorus will be blessing us with
- 37:46Speaker 8: worship at six o'clock.
- 37:48Speaker 2: All right, Reverend Michael Berry, we appreciate you being here.
- 37:51Speaker 2: Congratulations on one hundred and twenty five years of your church.
- 37:55Speaker 2: Sounds like a great weekend of activities. Appreciate you being here.
- 37:57Speaker 8: Thanks a lot, Yes, thank you, and you enjoy your week.
- 38:00Speaker 5: All all right, I certainly will.
- 38:02Speaker 2: But Dave Island show and five Vedieline has brought to

- 38:44Speaker 6: My house is the yards? Okay, I want to go.
- 38:48Speaker 6: I want to look for old West Virginia stuff.
- 38:51Speaker 1: You know.
- 38:52Speaker 6: I have this and I don't even know what edition
- 38:55Speaker 6: he needs. Brooks McKay, former state senator. He has all
- 38:59Speaker 6: the Blue Books of West Virginia except for a few years,

- 39:07Speaker 6: don't even know what year he needs and he may
- 39:09Speaker 6: by this time, this is fifteen years ago. He may
- 39:11Speaker 6: have that book by now.
- 39:13Speaker 5: They don't still do the hard copies of the books,
- 39:15Speaker 5: do they.
- 39:15Speaker 6: I don't know, you know, since I was Secretary of State,
- 39:17Speaker 6: things will following.
- 39:18Speaker 5: Off art and the capital, the whole capital.
- 39:22Speaker 6: Well, I mean there's some things you never know, like
- 39:25Speaker 6: what am I what do I miss?
- 39:26Speaker 2: I'm not going to disagree with some of the stuff
- 39:30Speaker 2: we saw in this past election.
- 39:31Speaker 5: I'm not going to agree.
- 39:32Speaker 2: But you know, it's Friday. I try not to get
- 39:33Speaker 2: into too much of that stuff on Friday.

- 42:48Speaker 6: I am. I am known for, you know, really getting

- 42:53Speaker 6: see anything on a Friday morning, so we'll see. I
- 42:56Speaker 6: have to do a good job on Wednesday. Let me
- 42:58Speaker 6: take the Natalie Tennant show.
- 43:00Speaker 2: Let me tell you with everything that Coop does in
- 43:03Speaker 2: this company, between doing ask the experts, doing hotline, between
- 43:07Speaker 2: between all being all of our bosses. As the operations
- 43:10Speaker 2: manager here, if you came to him and you said, hey,
- 43:13Speaker 2: I would like he'll stop.
- 43:14Speaker 5: You go good go.
- 43:16Speaker 6: I mean that's right. You just sign up for you
- 43:19Speaker 6: and you.
- 43:19Speaker 5: And work it out.
- 43:20Speaker 2: It is yard sales season, a lot of them. I
- 43:22Speaker 2: know a lot of them going on in the Kanal Valley
- 43:24Speaker 2: this weekend. They're gonna be a big win in Kana City.
- 43:26Speaker 2: Aaron Wood is with the Kanas City Community Association. Correct
- 43:30Speaker 2: is Uh, They're gonna be doing a big with tomorrow.
- 43:32Speaker 2: Welcome to the show. Welcome to the Natalie Tenant Show.
- 43:34Speaker 6: Exactly.
- 43:35Speaker 3: I'm excited to be here, all right.
- 43:37Speaker 5: Talk about the event tomorrow.
- 43:38Speaker 22: Well, it is an annual event. We do it twice
- 43:41Speaker 22: a year, once in May, once in September. It's been
- 43:44Speaker 22: going on for years and years and years. A little
- 43:46Speaker 22: different though, we're trying to promote an online.
- 43:51Speaker 3: Yard cell website that we've developed. It's kind of neat.
- 43:54Speaker 22: It allows our members to go online and enter their
- 43:59Speaker 22: location and to put it a picture of their house,
- 44:02Speaker 22: put pictures of the goods they're going to sell, a
- 44:04Speaker 22: description of the goods, a price of the goods. So
- 44:07Speaker 22: it's kind of like it's a way for people to
- 44:09Speaker 22: weed through all the different yard sales that are going
- 44:11Speaker 22: on and see exactly which yard sales they want to hit.
- 44:14Speaker 22: You can print out a map with all the addresses,
- 44:17Speaker 22: so it's kind of neat. Now you have to be
- 44:19Speaker 22: a member of the CASECA in order to be on
- 44:22Speaker 22: the website. It's the same twenty five dollars that we've
- 44:26Speaker 22: paid in the past to support the association and the
- 44:29Speaker 22: things that we do. However, now you get all kinds
- 44:32Speaker 22: of benefits for that twenty five dollars rather than just
- 44:34Speaker 22: a paper newsletter. So I don't want people to confuse
- 44:37Speaker 22: like we're not charging you to be in the in
- 44:40Speaker 22: the yard sale. We're not charging you twenty five dollars
- 44:43Speaker 22: to be in the yard sale. That's not the case.
- 44:45Speaker 22: A lot of people feel that way. We're charging the
- 44:48Speaker 22: same twenty five dollars membership fee for case Cca we've
- 44:51Speaker 22: always charged. You can still list your your house on
- 44:54Speaker 22: the Facebook page, no charge. But you know, now there's
- 44:57Speaker 22: some benefits to this twenty five dollars annual member.
- 45:00Speaker 2: This is a really good idea, I mean, for this,
- 45:03Speaker 2: and again you're not forcing people do it. If people
- 45:05Speaker 2: want to have a yard sale, they can have a
- 45:06Speaker 2: yard sale, I mean, you know whatever, and they don't necessarily.
- 45:09Speaker 5: Have to pay.
- 45:10Speaker 22: But if they do pay, you get added benefit Aaron right,
- 45:13Speaker 22: that's correct, And some of the other benefits you get.
- 45:15Speaker 22: You know, you get to vote and nominate yards for
- 45:18Speaker 22: Yard of the month. You get to do the Halloween
- 45:21Speaker 22: and the Christmas yard decorating contests. You can see those
- 45:24Speaker 22: and vote on them. There's a forum for members who
- 45:27Speaker 22: want to bring things up in the community on the
- 45:30Speaker 22: website that's private. So there's all kinds of things now
- 45:33Speaker 22: that are available on our community website that weren't there
- 45:36Speaker 22: before to try to promote our community, to make things better.
- 45:41Speaker 22: So I'm excited about the yard. So we already have
- 45:43Speaker 22: fifteen yard sales listed on the website, which is great.
- 45:46Speaker 22: That's a great first start. I've heard of sixty seventy
- 45:50Speaker 22: eighty other yards that are going to be doing yard sales,
- 45:53Speaker 22: So I think this is going to We've done a
- 45:55Speaker 22: pretty good job promoting the yard sale this year. We've
- 45:58Speaker 22: sent out emails, we've sent out postcards, we've we've been
- 46:00Speaker 22: on several radio stations, we've been on the news.
- 46:03Speaker 2: So I think it's going to be a pretty big event. Again,
- 46:06Speaker 2: at what time is everything get underway?
- 46:07Speaker 5: Tomorrow?
- 46:08Speaker 22: So it's this Saturday, May sixteenth. We are going to
- 46:11Speaker 22: promote eight am to two pm for the yard sale.
- 46:15Speaker 22: You know, people can go outside of those hours, but
- 46:17Speaker 22: you know, we want everybody to be up and running
- 46:19Speaker 22: by eight and go ahead and run until two.
- 46:22Speaker 6: There's some amazing things put on here. I think. I
- 46:26Speaker 6: just I jumped on one. That's mccorkwill Avenue. But vintage toys, collectibles, tools, glassware, clothes, shoes, houseware.
- 46:37Speaker 6: Oh yeah, well, I mean, and I think the benefit
- 46:39Speaker 6: of this too is you know, people have yard sales
- 46:42Speaker 6: all the time. But the fact that people know and
- 46:44Speaker 6: they're going to go to Kenas City and they're going
- 46:47Speaker 6: to know that there's going to be several homes that
- 46:49Speaker 6: they're going to pass. I mean that's this is great.
- 46:52Speaker 6: This is what people love on a Saturday morning.
- 46:54Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 46:55Speaker 22: Printing out the list, it actually prints out a map.
- 46:58Speaker 22: It has a pinpoint on the map of every the
- 47:00Speaker 22: ard sale lists listed on the site, along with a
- 47:02Speaker 22: listing of all the addresses. So it's organized for you.
- 47:05Speaker 22: All you got to do is hit print.
- 47:06Speaker 8: You know.
- 47:06Speaker 6: In the Knawk County Commission, we call it Spring and
- 47:09Speaker 6: Fall clean up, where you just take all your chunks
- 47:12Speaker 6: and we'll take it This is kind of about the marketing.
- 47:17Speaker 5: We had a texture.
- 47:18Speaker 2: So just a request to everyone hitting the yard sales tomorrow,
- 47:20Speaker 2: please consider grabbing blankets, large pillows, towels and washcloths to
- 47:24Speaker 2: donate to the animal shelter and to fix some clinic.
- 47:26Speaker 5: They need our help. So there you go. Awesome little
- 47:28Speaker 5: community service in there too.
- 47:30Speaker 6: And don't go to the to the ATM and get
- 47:35Speaker 6: all twenty dollars bills. Bring your change and bring your
- 47:37Speaker 6: ones and things like that because every they probably need
- 47:41Speaker 6: change too.
- 47:42Speaker 3: Oh. Absolutely.
- 47:42Speaker 6: My buddy Jeff Shirley always said that whenever you go
- 47:45Speaker 6: to a to something like this, bring your ones instead
- 47:48Speaker 6: of your twenties because you want to break the change.
- 47:50Speaker 3: There you go.
- 47:51Speaker 5: You learn that off kind of on the Natalie Tennis show.
- 47:54Speaker 6: Well, I do like thinking about the animal shelter.
- 47:57Speaker 2: Also, another one said, do you know how many churches
- 48:01Speaker 2: will be participating? Church sales are great giving churches involved
- 48:03Speaker 2: in an ere. We have not been contacted betting churches.
- 48:06Speaker 2: If there are churches that want to participate, if they
- 48:08Speaker 2: could just send us a private message on our Facebook site,
- 48:11Speaker 2: we'd be happy to promote those churches or church lots
- 48:14Speaker 2: where multiple people want to go. We have partnered with
- 48:18Speaker 2: Quantum Party Rentals and they have offered free delivery for tables, chairs,
- 48:23Speaker 2: pop up tents, and garment racks. So if anybody needs
- 48:27Speaker 2: any type of that material for their yard sales set up,
- 48:30Speaker 2: Quantum Party Rentals is doing free delivery. That's pretty good
- 48:34Speaker 2: because I mean, how many times have people gone to
- 48:35Speaker 2: an event like this the yartsa well I would I
- 48:37Speaker 2: would love to have this, but I don't have a
- 48:39Speaker 2: truck or I can't, you know, and the owners are like, well,
- 48:44Speaker 2: you got to take it. You know, we're not going
- 48:45Speaker 2: to hold it for you. You know, we're trying to
- 48:47Speaker 2: get rid of it. So that's pretty good that you
- 48:49Speaker 2: guys are doing that.
- 48:51Speaker 22: Yeah, I think it's a great benefit for the community.
- 48:54Speaker 22: I think it's going to allow people to clean out
- 48:55Speaker 22: their homes and make a little bit of money, and
- 48:58Speaker 22: you know, it gets people out for the weekend.
- 49:00Speaker 6: Will there be an opportunity to then things that weren't
- 49:03Speaker 6: sold for someone in their yard that they can Is
- 49:06Speaker 6: there somebody coming by and picking up maybe from Goodwill
- 49:09Speaker 6: or Salvation Army that can pick up the rest.
- 49:12Speaker 22: We're trying to get in touch with Salvation Army to
- 49:13Speaker 22: see if they're willing to do that. We may have
- 49:16Speaker 22: missed the boat a little bit and done that a
- 49:18Speaker 22: little bit late this year. This is my first year
- 49:20Speaker 22: running it, so I didn't realize that that was a thing.
- 49:24Speaker 22: But we'll definitely have that in place for the September yard.
- 49:26Speaker 22: So all right, I got a.
- 49:27Speaker 2: Question here before you can tell where this person's mind is.
- 49:30Speaker 2: Any update on the waffle house. You don't have anything
- 49:34Speaker 2: to do with that.
- 49:34Speaker 7: Do you.
- 49:35Speaker 3: I don't know what they're talking about.
- 49:37Speaker 18: There's no that's been one of the one of the funniest,
- 49:40Speaker 18: isn't it, right beside BUCkies of the Yes.
- 49:43Speaker 2: Yes, yes, uh, that's uh, that's that's that's a good one.
- 49:47Speaker 2: You're you're catching on here quick kid.
- 49:49Speaker 6: Uh.
- 49:49Speaker 2: But yeah, every this whole thing with the waffle house
- 49:52Speaker 2: in Canau City, I mean, it's a thing.
- 49:54Speaker 5: It's not a thing. It's a thing. It's not a thing,
- 49:56Speaker 5: you know, So you'll know it when it happens, right hearin.
- 49:58Speaker 3: We'll know when it happens.
- 49:59Speaker 22: You know, there's several people looking at doing a waffle
- 50:01Speaker 22: house now, and you know they haven't pulled any permits,
- 50:04Speaker 22: so we can't announce anything.
- 50:05Speaker 3: But maybe it's coming. Yes, it's coming.
- 50:08Speaker 6: What do you mean they haven't pulled any permits.
- 50:11Speaker 22: Well, in order to start construction on the waffle house,
- 50:14Speaker 22: you'd have to pull building permits.
- 50:16Speaker 6: Like like, apply for billing permis, apply for billing permits,
- 50:19Speaker 6: pool and apply. Okay, yah, got it. Yeah, isn't isn't
- 50:22Speaker 6: Monday mayor Monday m No?
- 50:26Speaker 2: No, not for mayre Goodwe she was on this past week.
- 50:30Speaker 2: She doesn't come in every week, but we got Danny
- 50:32Speaker 2: Jones this week, and Danny'll tell you whatever you want
- 50:34Speaker 2: to know about anything.
- 50:36Speaker 5: Just ask us, all right.
- 50:38Speaker 22: I would say that the people that were or were
- 50:41Speaker 22: not planning the waffle house are extremely excited about the
- 50:44Speaker 22: amount of press that the waffle house got, even though
- 50:48Speaker 22: it's not even ready to be started yet. So I
- 50:50Speaker 22: would assume that they are working as fast as they
- 50:52Speaker 22: can to get those permits pulled and build that waffle house.
- 50:55Speaker 5: You would assume that that's what you would assume that
- 50:57Speaker 5: you would hear?
- 50:58Speaker 3: All right?
- 50:58Speaker 5: Uh, Aaron Wood, Well, hold on to text for you.
- 51:01Speaker 3: Wait.
- 51:02Speaker 2: Just to clarify, is the party rental picking up items
- 51:04Speaker 2: that someone buys and delivering to the buyer's home for them.
- 51:08Speaker 22: There was a little confusion there, So twenty partter Reynolds
- 51:11Speaker 22: is willing to rent tables, chairs, tents or garment racks
- 51:16Speaker 22: and deliver those free of charge to the individual locations.
- 51:21Speaker 22: I displayed this stuff to display your stuff and then
- 51:24Speaker 22: pick that up once the events don't.
