- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. To Sweet for Wilson, Cut Back
- 0:15Speaker 1: Round twenty ten five touchdown, prost break through the Middle,
- 0:24Speaker 1: thro Sty Matthew Stafford called by Tibo save the Brex
- 0:29Speaker 1: a tackle forty Tibo thirty five county twenty five, twenty
- 0:33Speaker 1: bricks another tackle ted five texto. Now that feels great, baby,
- 0:42Speaker 1: that may be his best playing d or something. I'm
- 0:45Speaker 1: coming tapping on the right telling up talk Star Woolf.
- 0:54Speaker 1: Forty Niners have beaten the l A Range through a
- 0:56Speaker 1: seventh executive regular season match every So, there are a
- 1:07Speaker 1: couple of things we know about the Rams and the
- 1:10Speaker 1: forty Niners when they play in Santa Clair. Number one,
- 1:12Speaker 1: the game is usually almost always in primetime. Number two,
- 1:16Speaker 1: the Niners always win. We have kind of sort of
- 1:20Speaker 1: seen that movie before, and with that we welcome you
- 1:22Speaker 1: to a Tuesday edition NFL Now, NFL Network. My name
- 1:25Speaker 1: is ANDREWS Siciliano. That guy had seen the movie before
- 1:27Speaker 1: as well. Hi there, Steve White. What you say, Andrew
- 1:29Speaker 1: get used to a lot of this. The Tongan Tiger, Yes,
- 1:33Speaker 1: Heleno who Fonga that it had a huge game changing
- 1:36Speaker 1: play in that game. Former guest oh by the way
- 1:39Speaker 1: on NFL Now when he was coming out of USC
- 1:42Speaker 1: helped the Niners beat the team that he once shared
- 1:45Speaker 1: a stadium with. Here in Los Angeles, we have quarterback
- 1:49Speaker 1: news from Pittsburgh. Also, Mike Tomlin called an opposing player
- 1:53Speaker 1: an alien visiting from another planet. Will tell you which
- 1:56Speaker 1: player and try to find out which planet coming up Shortly,
- 1:59Speaker 1: Rams lose, Niners win at seven in a row in
- 2:02Speaker 1: the regular season. One of those games. We knew it
- 2:07Speaker 1: was gonna be a battle. Um, you know, we weren't.
- 2:10Speaker 1: We were good enough, you know myself, and you know,
- 2:12Speaker 1: first and foremost in the red zone, had some opportunities
- 2:14Speaker 1: to put some points up and and didn't, uh, didn't
- 2:16Speaker 1: get touchdowns there, and that's, you know, probably the difference
- 2:18Speaker 1: in the game. It's always nice to beat these guys
- 2:20Speaker 1: division the game and just uh, I don't know. Every
- 2:22Speaker 1: time we play the Rams, it's a dog fight. It
- 2:24Speaker 1: always is and always usually comes down to, you know,
- 2:27Speaker 1: the last Coulton minutes. And I think Huff made a
- 2:29Speaker 1: huge play for us at the end there to kind
- 2:30Speaker 1: of seal it for us. Each game is different, and
- 2:33Speaker 1: that was a big one obviously, UM still counts the same.
- 2:36Speaker 1: But anytime we win one in your division. UM, coming
- 2:38Speaker 1: off how we were last week, UM, we needed to
- 2:41Speaker 1: play good and UM I thought we did not perfect
- 2:43Speaker 1: at all, but UM definitely played better. However you want
- 2:46Speaker 1: to cut it. We have to be better collectively, coaches
- 2:49Speaker 1: and players. UM. And there's no other way around it.
- 2:51Speaker 1: And there's no other way I know how to fix
- 2:53Speaker 1: it other than go back to work. UM. Everybody needs
- 2:55Speaker 1: to be able to look inward. But UM, the red area.
- 2:57Speaker 1: I mean to have three good drives and only come
- 2:59Speaker 1: away with nine points in a game that was a
- 3:01Speaker 1: back and forth battle like that, UM, that ended up
- 3:04Speaker 1: being the difference. And then you do make it a
- 3:05Speaker 1: one possession game and you've got some momentum, a couple
- 3:07Speaker 1: of game first downs and we throw an interception for
- 3:10Speaker 1: a touchdown on a screen. UM. Those are the things
- 3:12Speaker 1: that you know don't help you win games. Look, there
- 3:16Speaker 1: are a lot of waifs here. Brian Baldinger with us.
- 3:17Speaker 1: Great to have you, Balding. We're not here to pile
- 3:19Speaker 1: necessarily on the rams. They are two and two. They
- 3:22Speaker 1: have problems, we think here that are fixable. They have
- 3:25Speaker 1: old line injury issues that may not be fixable in
- 3:28Speaker 1: the short term. But we always say Steve in this rivalry, Hey,
- 3:33Speaker 1: they don't like each other, but b when the Niners win,
- 3:36Speaker 1: it's because they are, generally and the Rams hate this
- 3:39Speaker 1: the more physical team. And it's always in prime time,
- 3:43Speaker 1: as I said, and it's always up there and the
- 3:45Speaker 1: game always goes sideways. The Rams may hate it, but
- 3:49Speaker 1: they have to understand it's the truth. I mean, when
- 3:50Speaker 1: you see the Rams lose, it's typically they get out
- 3:52Speaker 1: physical on the lines of scrimmage and then that kind
- 3:54Speaker 1: of lead to the landslide. We saw it in Buffalo.
- 3:57Speaker 1: We saw it when they had a three game losing
- 3:58Speaker 1: streak last season. It's the more physical team. And you
- 4:01Speaker 1: mentioned Andrew though they had there, they were down to
- 4:04Speaker 1: their what third string guards on both sides. So Damiko
- 4:08Speaker 1: Ryan's just dialed up a physical masterpiece. Seven sacks of
- 4:13Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford. He seemed to get rattled. They could not
- 4:16Speaker 1: run the ball. We've seen this before. This is what
- 4:19Speaker 1: the Niners do. The one the best run defenses Chris
- 4:21Speaker 1: kas Sarah, their D line coach might be the best
- 4:23Speaker 1: D line coach in the NFL. They take advantage of
- 4:26Speaker 1: mismatches and they absolutely did that and Baldy It's funny,
- 4:30Speaker 1: you know every year, you know, there's always these poles.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Who's the second year player who's gonna take the big jump?
- 4:36Speaker 1: And what do we do? We automatically go to quarterbacks
- 4:39Speaker 1: Brian Baldinger, Talanoah who Fonga is the second year player
- 4:43Speaker 1: who looks like he might be the guy we need
- 4:45Speaker 1: to talk about taking the big jump. Well, you can't
- 4:49Speaker 1: take your eyes off him. I mean, the guy just
- 4:51Speaker 1: plays the game like a blur, but he's always under
- 4:54Speaker 1: control because his tackling is crisp. He plays like a
- 4:58Speaker 1: linebacker in the box. He plays like a takeaway safety
- 5:01Speaker 1: on the back end. Really nothing he can't do. But
- 5:04Speaker 1: you know it came down last night Tyler Higbee's like
- 5:07Speaker 1: pick on that hit screen to Cooper Cup and just
- 5:10Speaker 1: jumped it. And you know it was great, great eyes
- 5:13Speaker 1: when his part right there to make that play to
- 5:15Speaker 1: put the game on ice. But this game was decided
- 5:18Speaker 1: with red zone defense US. And when you watch him,
- 5:22Speaker 1: what when you watch play, the first thing that jumps
- 5:24Speaker 1: out is their overall team speed on defense. It shows
- 5:28Speaker 1: up everywhere. There's really no weakness to this defense right now,
- 5:31Speaker 1: and the Niners were down a couple of defensive pieces yesterday.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Javon kin Law in the middle of the D line
- 5:35Speaker 1: didn't dress. Eric Armstead was questionable. He did get out there,
- 5:39Speaker 1: but then the injury, the foot injury, flared up. He
- 5:42Speaker 1: couldn't finish the game. He was limping into the locker
- 5:44Speaker 1: room afterwards. So there are some concerns there. And let's
- 5:46Speaker 1: get back to the Rams offensive issues. Obviously there are
- 5:50Speaker 1: a lot of them. We could talk about Cooper Cup
- 5:52Speaker 1: getting the lion's share. Really the only guy that Stafford's
- 5:55Speaker 1: looking at not named Tyler Higbee. You mentioned the old
- 5:57Speaker 1: line as well. They're on their fourth right guard, third
- 6:01Speaker 1: center and two and the second left guard here because
- 6:05Speaker 1: David Edwards couldn't go. So the interior of that line
- 6:08Speaker 1: right now is a mess. And that's a problem. That
- 6:11Speaker 1: is a problem because Baldin know this guard to guard
- 6:13Speaker 1: play in the NFL is huge because otherwise teams are
- 6:15Speaker 1: gonna be blitz in the A gaps. If they've got
- 6:17Speaker 1: the speed like we saw with the Niners, they can
- 6:19Speaker 1: stop the flow plays on the outside that the Rams
- 6:21Speaker 1: like to do. What that's what that outside done. Run
- 6:24Speaker 1: scheme with a Dallas Cowboys next. They've got the players
- 6:27Speaker 1: to match that up. So the injuries they are what
- 6:30Speaker 1: they are. Look the Rams, this isn't a one game issue.
- 6:32Speaker 1: They're averaging seventeen and a half points a game. This
- 6:34Speaker 1: offense has yet defined any type of stride, and part
- 6:39Speaker 1: of that is because no other receiver has stepped up.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I mean, you know, Allen Robinson, we can see hear
- 6:44Speaker 1: all we want and say, Matt Stafford is locked in
- 6:47Speaker 1: a Cooper Cup very as Ward got on Allan Robinson
- 6:50Speaker 1: last night and just locked him up. This wouldn't let
- 6:52Speaker 1: him get free. Maybe that's a continuing issue. Look all
- 6:55Speaker 1: we heard on a training camp Andrew was too to
- 6:58Speaker 1: att well and Alan Robinson looked great to tot Well,
- 7:00Speaker 1: has two targets, was a healthy scratch last night, and
- 7:03Speaker 1: Allen Robinson just has not filed he strided with this offense. Well, Steve,
- 7:10Speaker 1: you know Matt Stafford was sacked seven times, he was
- 7:13Speaker 1: hit eleven times. He was under pressure all night. He
- 7:15Speaker 1: barely had time to go from Cooper Cup, you know,
- 7:18Speaker 1: to Tyler Higbebe when he had to. But that third
- 7:21Speaker 1: receiver they really miss, you know that Van Jefferson. Uh,
- 7:25Speaker 1: you know having O'Dell last year, like they had that
- 7:28Speaker 1: third guy. Stafford knew how to get to the third guy,
- 7:31Speaker 1: and right now Alan Robinson is having a hard time
- 7:34Speaker 1: getting off the press. It's just a fact. I could
- 7:35Speaker 1: put up tent plays last night trying to beat char
- 7:38Speaker 1: Various Ward or when it is his own coverage, he's
- 7:41Speaker 1: just the timing with him and Stafford isn't there yet.
- 7:43Speaker 1: Maybe they will find it, but it is not there yet.
- 7:47Speaker 1: And let's face it, Uh, you have to work around
- 7:50Speaker 1: your offensive line issues. Like they're not coming through the door.
- 7:52Speaker 1: There's no all pros coming through. You have to figure
- 7:55Speaker 1: out how to cobble together if you're gonna be a
- 7:57Speaker 1: passing team, and right now they're not enough good runs
- 8:01Speaker 1: to keep the running game going and keep that defense
- 8:04Speaker 1: off ounds. Forty Niners had no problem sending Fred Warner
- 8:07Speaker 1: Dred green Law as a fifth rusher last night, and
- 8:10Speaker 1: other teams will do the same, like Dallas this week.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Jeremiah Colin. I had to finish that game at center.
- 8:15Speaker 1: He's been around four or five years, on and off
- 8:17Speaker 1: the practice squad, on and off the roster, but but
- 8:19Speaker 1: never in a real game situation. Necessarily outside of the
- 8:22Speaker 1: preseason where he's playing center, he's making the calls. Niners
- 8:26Speaker 1: obviously took advantage, and obviously the point to about Van Jefferson,
- 8:29Speaker 1: everyone wants to say, well, Alan Robinson replaced Robert Woods.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Van Jefferson was really supposed to take that Robert Wood's role.
- 8:36Speaker 1: He's out, hasn't come back as fast as they had
- 8:39Speaker 1: hoped from the knee injury. He should be back after
- 8:42Speaker 1: the bye, but the schedule does not get easier after
- 8:46Speaker 1: the bye. It gets that much more difficult. Thank you, guys.
- 8:50Speaker 1: Next up for the Rams. By the way they get
- 8:52Speaker 1: the Cowboys. We're still kind of maybe saying that there's
- 8:57Speaker 1: a chance Dad could play. Mike McCarthy said yesterday it's
- 9:01Speaker 1: gonna really really, you know, turn on Wednesday day's practice.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Here's what Jerry Jones had to say today considering the injury,
- 9:11Speaker 1: considering the location of the injury, I don't know that
- 9:14Speaker 1: you can make any more progress. And there's some things
- 9:18Speaker 1: here about healing that again, how often say only the
- 9:22Speaker 1: man upstairs and knows how that works. But he'll have
- 9:25Speaker 1: a big week and he'll be hard on himself getting
- 9:29Speaker 1: ready to go. Is he able to say is he
- 9:33Speaker 1: able to grip the football? Now? Uh no, not well
- 9:36Speaker 1: enough to play? All right, let's get our insiders in here,
- 9:42Speaker 1: Mike careful of Tom Pellostaro. Funny how last week Bill
- 9:45Speaker 1: Belichick said, what am I a doctor? I'm not an
- 9:48Speaker 1: orthopedic surgeon. Jerry Jones seemingly every forty eight hours gets
- 9:52Speaker 1: in front of a microphone and access if he is
- 9:54Speaker 1: he is a doctor. It is his team, Tom h
- 9:57Speaker 1: and I guess it comes down to whether or not
- 9:58Speaker 1: he can grip the football and practice fully tomorrow, and
- 10:00Speaker 1: then we'll get a far better idea. Well. Dr Jerry's
- 10:04Speaker 1: opinion seemed to shift with the wind here over the
- 10:06Speaker 1: past several weeks, Andrew, but Dak Prescott is seeing an
- 10:09Speaker 1: actual doctor today to gather further information on the healing
- 10:13Speaker 1: of that thumb. Now, my understanding is the hope this
- 10:16Speaker 1: week is get Deck into some individual periods, maybe a
- 10:19Speaker 1: little bit of scout team. But you heard Mike McCarthy
- 10:21Speaker 1: say it yesterday at the podium. He wants to see
- 10:23Speaker 1: him get a full week of work before he plays.
- 10:26Speaker 1: You couple that with Jerry going on the radio and
- 10:29Speaker 1: saying that Doc can't grip the football well enough. It's
- 10:31Speaker 1: very clear that Dak Prescott, barring some type of miracle here,
- 10:35Speaker 1: is not playing this week against the Rams. However, next
- 10:38Speaker 1: week against the Eagles, that's always been the realistic target.
- 10:41Speaker 1: At that point, you'd be four weeks out from surgery.
- 10:43Speaker 1: That is still called possibility for doc again, depending how
- 10:46Speaker 1: well he's able to grip that football, how well the
- 10:49Speaker 1: bone has healed based upon the doctor's examinations, and then
- 10:52Speaker 1: how much rust he has to knock off. The Cowboys,
- 10:55Speaker 1: of course, can afford to be patient here, Mike, because
- 10:57Speaker 1: they are three and o right now with Cooper Rush
- 11:00Speaker 1: as their starting quarterback. There's no need for them to
- 11:03Speaker 1: rush back Dak Prescott until there's certain that he's ready
- 11:06Speaker 1: to roll. Regular viewers of NFL now, and uh, we
- 11:10Speaker 1: know who you are, and we appreciate you know that
- 11:12Speaker 1: we've been saying that Eagles game has been really the
- 11:15Speaker 1: realistic target all along. But it's okay because we've got
- 11:18Speaker 1: shows to fill and Jerry likes to talk on the
- 11:20Speaker 1: radio a lot, and that's great, and we can react
- 11:22Speaker 1: to it and kind of put it all in perspective
- 11:24Speaker 1: and say, wow, Jerry might be a little too optimistic here.
- 11:27Speaker 1: He's got shows to fill too, But we're pretty much
- 11:30Speaker 1: where we thought we'd be all along, and Cooper Rush
- 11:33Speaker 1: has done a great job of keeping this team afloat.
- 11:34Speaker 1: And I continue to say the decision on Dak Prescott
- 11:38Speaker 1: coming back really has nothing to do with Cooper Rush.
- 11:41Speaker 1: It's nice that you've got that flexibility. But when Dak
- 11:43Speaker 1: Prescott is ready to come back, Dak Prescott's will come back.
- 11:46Speaker 1: He's just not ready right now. But again, we think
- 11:49Speaker 1: next week against the Eagles could be a realistic return
- 11:53Speaker 1: possibility for Dak Prescott. And we think that you should
- 11:56Speaker 1: tune in tomorrow and the next day and the next
- 11:59Speaker 1: day for further Dak Prescott updates. Come on back, come
- 12:04Speaker 1: on back out here for you. Mike McCarthy did say
- 12:07Speaker 1: yesterday that if Dak practices fully on Wednesday, we don't
- 12:11Speaker 1: think he's going to then that would be a good sign.
- 12:16Speaker 1: So again, tune in tomorrow, Mike. How about Pittsburgh. We
- 12:19Speaker 1: had Mike Tomlin take to the podium today and make
- 12:22Speaker 1: it official, official, official. Kenny Picketts his guy, that's right now.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Mike Tomlin did say that Mitchell Robinsky's play was a factor,
- 12:34Speaker 1: but it was not the factor. He said he didn't
- 12:35Speaker 1: want to put that all at his feet. And what
- 12:38Speaker 1: that means is he didn't play well enough, but everybody
- 12:41Speaker 1: around him didn't play well enough. And Tomlin said, myself included,
- 12:44Speaker 1: we didn't coach well enough with Mr Robinsky as the
- 12:47Speaker 1: starting quarterback. So he's looking for some kind of spark.
- 12:49Speaker 1: So incomes Kenny Pickett. Look, they've been impressed with Pickett
- 12:52Speaker 1: all along, from the spring when he stepped right in
- 12:55Speaker 1: and really started to show him what he can do,
- 12:57Speaker 1: to the summer when he stepped into preseason games and
- 12:59Speaker 1: played really well, and Tomlin said, once we got into stadiums,
- 13:02Speaker 1: the moment wasn't too big for him. And then during
- 13:04Speaker 1: the season and when he continued to put in extra work,
- 13:07Speaker 1: extra film time, extra on field time, as much as
- 13:10Speaker 1: he could possibly do to get himself ready to play
- 13:13Speaker 1: when called upon. Now he played okay. The other day.
- 13:16Speaker 1: There was a third down throw that they really loved
- 13:18Speaker 1: where Quinnin Williams was bearing down on him and he
- 13:21Speaker 1: was still able to let the ball go and complete
- 13:23Speaker 1: it for a first down, the Pat Friar move. That's
- 13:25Speaker 1: the kind of spark that they're looking for the Pittsburgh
- 13:27Speaker 1: Steelers right now. Because they've got to get better on
- 13:30Speaker 1: offense period toime. We talked about this going back to
- 13:33Speaker 1: the Thursday night game in Cleveland, Mike, that the Steelers
- 13:36Speaker 1: really were taking a week to week approach at that
- 13:38Speaker 1: point in terms of MS. Robinsky and their evaluation of him.
- 13:42Speaker 1: There has been frustration, some of it's bubbled over publicly
- 13:45Speaker 1: from the wide receivers about not pushing the ball down
- 13:47Speaker 1: the field enough, not doing so effectively enough. Well, Drabisky
- 13:51Speaker 1: did do it that night in Cleveland, they didn't connect
- 13:53Speaker 1: on a whole lot of them. That's something where they're
- 13:55Speaker 1: hoping the Kenny Picket, based on some of those throws
- 13:57Speaker 1: you mentioned, will be able to open up certain things
- 14:00Speaker 1: that they really value in this offense. Now, Pickett was
- 14:03Speaker 1: far from perfect, it is they be. We threw three interceptions,
- 14:06Speaker 1: made one or two bad decisions among those, but also
- 14:09Speaker 1: ran for a couple of touchdowns. You could see the juice,
- 14:11Speaker 1: As one person very familiar with the situation put it
- 14:13Speaker 1: to me yesterday, even if it would make sense on
- 14:16Speaker 1: the road in Buffalo to stick with the veteran Mr.
- 14:18Speaker 1: Drabinsky against his old team at this point, once you've
- 14:22Speaker 1: benched him in favor of the rookie. Every other player
- 14:24Speaker 1: is looking around wondering when it's gonna happen again. It's
- 14:27Speaker 1: hard to go back, and that's why they're moving forward
- 14:30Speaker 1: right now with the future Kenny pick and Tomlin did
- 14:33Speaker 1: concede today that he he thought about the whole Buffalo
- 14:36Speaker 1: thing in making this decision, but he is sticking with Pickett.
- 14:39Speaker 1: Also interesting that Mitch Drabinsky is a captain and Tomlin said, yeah,
- 14:44Speaker 1: he's gonna be out there with the captains before the
- 14:48Speaker 1: game for the coin toss against his former teammates. There.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Let's get to New York, where there is still a
- 14:54Speaker 1: Daniel Jones question and Tyrod Taylor is in the concussion
- 14:57Speaker 1: protocol before heading to London. So, Mike, the Giants are
- 15:01Speaker 1: looking for backup quarterbacks with passports. Yes, somebody asked me
- 15:07Speaker 1: if A. J. Mccarroen has a passport after I tweeted
- 15:09Speaker 1: out that he's one of the guys uh in there
- 15:11Speaker 1: working out today, and I said, I don't know, I assume,
- 15:15Speaker 1: So I mean they have to have that ready to
- 15:17Speaker 1: go to take the trip to London. So we'll see
- 15:19Speaker 1: about the passport and the things. We'll also see how
- 15:21Speaker 1: this workout. Goes today. A j mccaren Jake from who
- 15:25Speaker 1: was with the Giants last year, a different coaching staff.
- 15:27Speaker 1: It was with the Giants, UH last year. He is
- 15:29Speaker 1: also part of the workout. They need somebody that can
- 15:31Speaker 1: get up to speed quickly. Now mccaren could because he
- 15:34Speaker 1: was with the Bills and team when Brian Dable was there.
- 15:37Speaker 1: Joe Shane, now the general manager of the Giants, was
- 15:39Speaker 1: there as well, so there is familiarity with mccaren. As
- 15:43Speaker 1: for Daniel Jones and that ankle, I'm getting a lot
- 15:46Speaker 1: of shrugs and I don't knows, and we'll we'll see.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Brian Dable certainly did not commit to it, uh the
- 15:52Speaker 1: idea of Jones playing when he spoke to the media yesterday.
- 15:55Speaker 1: So it seems like he's got a bit of work
- 15:56Speaker 1: to do before he could potentially play. Tyrod Taylor's got
- 16:00Speaker 1: that concussion. Doesn't seem like they're counting on him. So,
- 16:03Speaker 1: Davis Webb, you're up next. Maybe somebody that they that
- 16:06Speaker 1: they signed today, Okay, if you're up next. Speaking of
- 16:09Speaker 1: signing today, the Broncos made it official today Tom that
- 16:13Speaker 1: they have a new running back with Javonte Williams on
- 16:15Speaker 1: I r That's right, Andrew. The Broncos are signing Littavious
- 16:21Speaker 1: Murray off these Saints practice squad, just a couple of
- 16:24Speaker 1: days after Murray scored a touchdown in London for the
- 16:28Speaker 1: New Orleans Saints. Now I tweeted out that news last night.
- 16:31Speaker 1: I got a lot of Saints fans very confused in
- 16:33Speaker 1: my mentions, asking how is this possible he was just
- 16:35Speaker 1: on the team. Well, this is why, up until COVID
- 16:38Speaker 1: in you couldn't have veterans on the practice squad. That changed,
- 16:43Speaker 1: Guys like Murray now are eligible because they alter the
- 16:46Speaker 1: rules even going into two. So you've got a vested
- 16:49Speaker 1: veteran player on the practice squad who you can elevate
- 16:52Speaker 1: to the roster up to three times. However, after the game,
- 16:55Speaker 1: they revert to your practice squad, which means anybody in
- 16:59Speaker 1: the league can sign them. These don't happen as much
- 17:01Speaker 1: anymore because so many teams have all these veterans on
- 17:03Speaker 1: their practice squads. But the Broncos had a need with
- 17:06Speaker 1: Javonte Williams out, Melvin Gordon obviously dealing with fumbling issues,
- 17:10Speaker 1: and they find a guy in Latavious Murray. They're very
- 17:12Speaker 1: familiar with because Broncos GM George Peyton was with Murray
- 17:15Speaker 1: some years ago in Minnesota, and there's a report out
- 17:17Speaker 1: of New Orleans that the Saints made Murray and offered
- 17:20Speaker 1: to stick around on their active roster, and he chose
- 17:23Speaker 1: for what he thought was the better opportunity In Denver.
- 17:27Speaker 1: They're backing up Melvin Gordon, perhaps on a short week
- 17:29Speaker 1: on T and F. Thank you Tom, Thank you Mike.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Coming up next, the Eagles are thanking Hassan Reddick. He
- 17:35Speaker 1: is back home and he is freaking havoc. How he
- 17:38Speaker 1: is part of a special Philadelphia defense. Reddick joins us
- 17:43Speaker 1: coming up, hey man, were what we had did that
- 17:57Speaker 1: way better with the details, the preparation, everything we do
- 18:00Speaker 1: racey snow the Eagles train to go way to present you,
- 18:14Speaker 1: a way to present you down fourteen. We didn't flinch
- 18:19Speaker 1: at we didn't clinch, and we don't need that to
- 18:21Speaker 1: you to do what we're trying to do. Hey man,
- 18:24Speaker 1: there was a family man family rain, sleet or snow. Yep,
- 18:31Speaker 1: they're undefeated. Don't blame the weather. Don't blame the weather.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Blame this guy, the son Reddick. Do you live in
- 18:39Speaker 1: the backfield? Two strip sacks this best time that he
- 18:42Speaker 1: actually lives in the house he's he's sitting in now
- 18:45Speaker 1: joining us on an off day on NFL Network as
- 18:48Speaker 1: son Reddeck. How are you man at four? And oh
- 18:51Speaker 1: oh man, I'm doing excellent, Andrew couldn't be better. Well,
- 18:54Speaker 1: thanks for joining us, and thanks for doing this again
- 18:56Speaker 1: as an off day sitting here at home or on
- 18:59Speaker 1: and off day. Um. How cool is it for you?
- 19:02Speaker 1: How rewarding to come back home. You grew up just
- 19:06Speaker 1: across the river and camp in like ten minutes away,
- 19:08Speaker 1: went to high school there to come back home and
- 19:11Speaker 1: not only play for the Eagles. Where the uniform that
- 19:14Speaker 1: maybe you wanted to wear as a kid. But before
- 19:17Speaker 1: an oath to all this, Hassan, it's it's it's amazing, man.
- 19:21Speaker 1: It's a blessing, um. And it means more than what
- 19:25Speaker 1: anybody knows. To where that midnight green and you know,
- 19:29Speaker 1: be from here, to represent my city, to represent my hometown, um,
- 19:34Speaker 1: every week and that midnight Green. It just means everything
- 19:38Speaker 1: to glad to be home there. There are some people, Hassan,
- 19:41Speaker 1: who don't want the distraction of playing at home. Right.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Everybody wants something from you. Everybody wants a ticket or
- 19:48Speaker 1: come over to the house or meet my aunt or
- 19:50Speaker 1: my uncle. Has that been a problem, not at all,
- 19:54Speaker 1: you know. Um I'm very disciplined, and I wanted to
- 20:00Speaker 1: come home. I wanted to be here. I wanted this
- 20:02Speaker 1: opportunity to bring my time in back home and be
- 20:06Speaker 1: able to help my team win that ultimate google you know. Um,
- 20:10Speaker 1: So the idea of coming back home, it was a
- 20:13Speaker 1: no brainer from me. Uh, not worried about distractions, you know,
- 20:17Speaker 1: the pressure or anything about that. Just worried about being
- 20:21Speaker 1: myself and being able to help my team win. Three
- 20:24Speaker 1: and a half sacks you're certainly helping the team wins.
- 20:26Speaker 1: Mentioned you had the two strip sacks there late in
- 20:29Speaker 1: the game. Game changers on Trevor Lawrence. I thought it
- 20:32Speaker 1: was great. You heard Jalen, they're talking about the weather.
- 20:34Speaker 1: I thought it was great when you were on the
- 20:36Speaker 1: podium after the game and somebody asked, how did the
- 20:38Speaker 1: weather affect all of that? And you said, uh, did
- 20:42Speaker 1: you see us turn the ball over five times? No,
- 20:45Speaker 1: we both played in the same weather. Does this team
- 20:49Speaker 1: get enough credit? You know, and being a Phillypan for
- 20:54Speaker 1: a while, even before being in Philadelphia, Eagle myself, you
- 20:59Speaker 1: know it It's always been tough for silly as far
- 21:01Speaker 1: as you know, the recognition has deserved um, and you
- 21:06Speaker 1: know people are gonna try to do what they can
- 21:08Speaker 1: to discredit this, but we're not worried about that. At
- 21:11Speaker 1: the end of the day. You know, we're worried about
- 21:13Speaker 1: each and every individual that goes into the building every
- 21:15Speaker 1: day and you know, puts in the work, goes out
- 21:19Speaker 1: on the field, puts the game plan together, all of
- 21:22Speaker 1: that type of all of that type of stuff. We're
- 21:24Speaker 1: just worried about those people and being the best for
- 21:26Speaker 1: each other, which helps, you know, on Sundays, helps us
- 21:30Speaker 1: get those wuts which everyone loves to see. I think
- 21:33Speaker 1: some of it might be Hassan that people thought you
- 21:35Speaker 1: guys were going to be good, and they thought that
- 21:37Speaker 1: Jalen would would get better than he was last year,
- 21:40Speaker 1: but no one thought he would take this big of
- 21:43Speaker 1: a leap when you were with the Panthers, and you
- 21:45Speaker 1: guys are riding high at that point, right, you guys
- 21:47Speaker 1: started so well. You played the Eagles last year, they won,
- 21:52Speaker 1: but you sack Jalen Hurts twice. Curious what you thought
- 21:55Speaker 1: of him then and how that's changed now. I've always
- 22:01Speaker 1: thought Jalen was a baller um. You know, I played
- 22:04Speaker 1: in twice before coming to the eagels Um and always,
- 22:09Speaker 1: you know, what's worried about his playmaking ability, his ability
- 22:13Speaker 1: to you know, get out of the pocket, get down
- 22:15Speaker 1: the field, use his legs, use his arm, and make players.
- 22:18Speaker 1: I always thought Jalen was a bailer um. But the
- 22:21Speaker 1: way he's playing right now and is just it's fantastic.
- 22:24Speaker 1: It's amazing, and I'm happy for him, you know, I
- 22:28Speaker 1: know the things that was said about Hiven, the things
- 22:31Speaker 1: that I've heard, and the way that he just comes
- 22:33Speaker 1: to work every day, the way that he's leading his
- 22:36Speaker 1: team right now, I mean, he I'm just happy that
- 22:40Speaker 1: he's on our team. I'm happy that the success that
- 22:43Speaker 1: he's having has finally, you know, it's coming, the success
- 22:46Speaker 1: that he's having, and I'm just glad that he's with
- 22:48Speaker 1: the Philadelphia I don't know how much tape you've put
- 22:50Speaker 1: on now for Week five, I don't know how much
- 22:53Speaker 1: shape you're gonna have to put on, Hassan, because for
- 22:55Speaker 1: those who don't know you now are gonna face another
- 22:59Speaker 1: one of your former teams. You're gonna face the Cardinals,
- 23:01Speaker 1: and you're gonna face Kyler Murray. Hard to get a
- 23:04Speaker 1: read on them, right, I mean they they haven't scored
- 23:07Speaker 1: in the first quarter, like it's the same game every week.
- 23:12Speaker 1: Seemingly Kyler has got to take over in the fourth quarter,
- 23:14Speaker 1: run around a bunch, and maybe they could pull it out.
- 23:16Speaker 1: What do you see with them? You know, just just
- 23:20Speaker 1: that they have playmakers. You know, they have playmakers, and
- 23:25Speaker 1: especially in Kyler. Um, he's another guy. You know, he
- 23:29Speaker 1: can throw the ball extremely well, and as you said
- 23:32Speaker 1: that him running around is just he makes it hard,
- 23:35Speaker 1: you know, having to chasing him around for so long
- 23:38Speaker 1: as long as he can extend those please and then
- 23:41Speaker 1: you know, keep his eyes down filled and still make
- 23:43Speaker 1: the big throws. Um, it's gonna be a challenge. It's
- 23:46Speaker 1: gonna be a task, but you know I'm up for it.
- 23:49Speaker 1: I know the team the defense were for we're ready
- 23:52Speaker 1: for it. And um, you know we're ready to get
- 23:54Speaker 1: out there and just continue to try to display another
- 23:57Speaker 1: another great performance of who this defense is and what
- 23:59Speaker 1: we can do. Real quick, last thing, I have about
- 24:01Speaker 1: thirty seconds left. You practice canserm for a couple of years,
- 24:04Speaker 1: you know how hard. Obviously you couldn't hit him in practice,
- 24:07Speaker 1: have you thought about how difficult it would be to
- 24:10Speaker 1: actually lay a hit on him? I have, I have,
- 24:15Speaker 1: and you know that's why I'll have to use these
- 24:18Speaker 1: next couple of days in practice UM and preparation to
- 24:22Speaker 1: make sure that I'm good on all my technique, good
- 24:25Speaker 1: on all my details, because it's not even about, you know,
- 24:29Speaker 1: just be an attack. What's about what are you gonna
- 24:32Speaker 1: do once you get to Carlin Murray and you know
- 24:35Speaker 1: he has that, he has that ability to escape and
- 24:37Speaker 1: make pleased. So my details, allward details. As a defense,
- 24:42Speaker 1: we're gonna have to be on point. We're gonna have
- 24:44Speaker 1: to be locked in, laser focused UM and do all
- 24:47Speaker 1: the little things correctly. They're the only undefeated team remaining
- 24:50Speaker 1: the NFL. They lead the league in sacks with sixteen,
- 24:53Speaker 1: and this guy is a huge reason why. Hassan a
- 24:56Speaker 1: reddick coming back home and now going back to Arizona
- 24:59Speaker 1: as well. Hassan, thanks for joining us on your off day.
- 25:02Speaker 1: Continued success man, Andrew, thank you as well. Thank you
- 25:06Speaker 1: for having Josh takes the snap back the throne. I
- 25:12Speaker 1: was gonna run it around the left side, first down
- 25:13Speaker 1: yard age inside the five, hit thirty and John is
- 25:16Speaker 1: he yes, touchdown Buffalo Josh outen around on what side? Touchdown?
- 25:21Speaker 1: In eleven yard round? The Fuffalo quarterback want to play.
- 25:25Speaker 1: The Buffalo Bills had lost thirty nine straight games when
- 25:29Speaker 1: losing by seventeen or more. But they rallied back. They
- 25:32Speaker 1: rallied back against the Ravens defense that has not been
- 25:36Speaker 1: good closing games out, worst record and games decided by
- 25:40Speaker 1: four points or less since December one. Now, back then
- 25:43Speaker 1: it was Wink Martin Dale's defensive coordinator. He is now
- 25:46Speaker 1: in New York. Now it's Mike McDonald as defensive coordinator.
- 25:50Speaker 1: But unfortunately hither Jim Trotter, you were there in the
- 25:53Speaker 1: rain in Baltimore Sunday. You've written about this on NFL
- 25:55Speaker 1: dot com. There is a trend, and you spoke to
- 25:58Speaker 1: Calais Campbell after the game. There's a fine line between
- 26:00Speaker 1: giving the other team their due respect the Bills or
- 26:04Speaker 1: the Dolphins to weeks ago, and looking inwards and saying
- 26:07Speaker 1: what is going on? What you learn from being there? Well, Andrew, First,
- 26:12Speaker 1: let's provide some context here. When we talk about the
- 26:15Speaker 1: Baltimore Ravens. The first thing we typically think of is
- 26:18Speaker 1: great defense from until they had ranked eighteen. They had
- 26:24Speaker 1: ranked in the top ten eighteen times out of those
- 26:27Speaker 1: twenty two seasons. When we see them now, they rank
- 26:30Speaker 1: thirty overall and they are dead last against the past.
- 26:33Speaker 1: But more troubling for them has been the fourth quarter.
- 26:36Speaker 1: They have been outscored forty three to nine in the
- 26:39Speaker 1: fourth quarter overall, and thirty one to three at home
- 26:43Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter. Now, when I talked to Klais
- 26:46Speaker 1: Campbell and other defenders about that, one thing Calais said is, look,
- 26:49Speaker 1: we are not going to panic. We have talent in
- 26:52Speaker 1: this room. We believe that we are going to be
- 26:54Speaker 1: special and as we go forward, we will rebound from this.
- 26:58Speaker 1: But they have got to address this. And when we
- 27:00Speaker 1: talk about the Ravens often it is complementary football. Look
- 27:04Speaker 1: at them offensively in the fourth quarter too, as being
- 27:06Speaker 1: a reason for the struggles. They have scored a hundred
- 27:09Speaker 1: and nineteen points overall, but offensively they have only scored
- 27:14Speaker 1: nine points in the fourth quarter. So it's not just
- 27:17Speaker 1: the defense, it's also the offense. They've got to get
- 27:19Speaker 1: it all straightened out, Andrew. And it's not just the
- 27:21Speaker 1: fourth quarter for that offense, Jim. They have at least
- 27:25Speaker 1: of like, come out of the gate really well in
- 27:26Speaker 1: the first quarter, and then something happens. I don't know
- 27:29Speaker 1: if they take their foot off the gas, if they're
- 27:33Speaker 1: off the first fifteen scripted, what is it? Well, let
- 27:38Speaker 1: me say this. There was a lot of talk about
- 27:40Speaker 1: John Harboe's decision to go for it on fourth down
- 27:42Speaker 1: down there at the two yard line, and afterwards he
- 27:45Speaker 1: said he had confidence in his defense to make a
- 27:47Speaker 1: stop after but what he was really saying is that
- 27:49Speaker 1: he didn't have confidence in his defense to make a
- 27:51Speaker 1: stop by going forward on fourth down. That's said Devin
- 27:56Speaker 1: Duverney was wide open. Lamar Jackson was just late with
- 28:00Speaker 1: the ball. So it's funny. The fine line here we
- 28:02Speaker 1: talked about if Lamar gets the ball out earlier, it's
- 28:06Speaker 1: a touchdown, and we're probably not talking about this right now,
- 28:09Speaker 1: But he did not, and that complicates it. Yeah, it
- 28:12Speaker 1: complicates it if he sees him that there are three
- 28:14Speaker 1: and one at the top the division. Instead everyone's two
- 28:18Speaker 1: and two here, including the Bengals. Who the Ravens get
- 28:21Speaker 1: next in prime time coming up on Sunday night. You're
- 28:27Speaker 1: watching NFL now on NFL Network. You know, four weeks
- 28:32Speaker 1: used to be a big landmark on the road to
- 28:34Speaker 1: the Super Bowl. It was kind of like a rest stock.
- 28:36Speaker 1: You got out, you stretch your legs, the kids ran around, you,
- 28:39Speaker 1: filled up the tank. You probably looked under the hood.
- 28:42Speaker 1: It was the quarter pole of the season. I don't
- 28:45Speaker 1: know if that works anymore though. For evaluation, we added
- 28:48Speaker 1: the seventeenth game of the eighteenth week, and now the
- 28:50Speaker 1: season just kind of feels long. I don't know if
- 28:54Speaker 1: we have a really good feel as to who is
- 28:56Speaker 1: good and who isn't through four weeks. We know the
- 28:59Speaker 1: Eagles are good. They've got great quarterback play. They get
- 29:02Speaker 1: after the other team's quarterback, and that's a big thing.
- 29:04Speaker 1: Same those for the Bills, same formula for them, and
- 29:08Speaker 1: same goes for the Chiefs. But are you buying, for example,
- 29:12Speaker 1: the three and one Vikings, the three and one Giants.
- 29:15Speaker 1: Who knows about the Dolphins anymore? Four out of the
- 29:19Speaker 1: NFL's eight divisions have a tie right now atop the
- 29:21Speaker 1: standings at two and two, nearly half of the teams,
- 29:24Speaker 1: half of them in the league fifteen of over two
- 29:26Speaker 1: and two. That includes Tom Brady and the Buccaneers, who
- 29:29Speaker 1: I assume because they always do. We'll figure it out
- 29:32Speaker 1: seventeen games in eighteen weeks doesn't feel right. Still a
- 29:36Speaker 1: year end, the math is off, but more importantly, teams
- 29:40Speaker 1: now have time to figure it out and to save
- 29:43Speaker 1: their season. So as of now, when somebody asks, is
- 29:46Speaker 1: Team X any good, the answer should probably be it's early, man,
- 29:52Speaker 1: I have no idea, just thinking out loud. NFL Now
