Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:03Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Playfake gonna roll right, jumps it off into the right
- 0:07Speaker 2: flat to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off of one tackler
- 0:09Speaker 2: cats inside the forty down of the thirty.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Five yard line powered by seahawks dot Com.
- 0:14Speaker 2: Matt Pumpfake's looking to the gold line. He throws it
- 0:17Speaker 2: into the m zone. Touchdown, Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas
- 0:20Speaker 2: with a diving catching the end zone. A ten yard
- 0:23Speaker 2: touchdown receptions for Bumpus, and the kid out of Washington
- 0:27Speaker 2: State has found himself a place on this team.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Now, here's your host, Nasa Chopie.
- 0:33Speaker 1: Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk, another one the
- 0:36Speaker 1: Seahawks victorious beating the Arizona Cardinals thirty to eighteen down
- 0:40Speaker 1: in Glendale, Arizona. We are broadcasting from the Seahawks Podcast Studio,
- 0:44Speaker 1: presented by Sony, the official partner of the Seattle Seahawks.
- 0:47Speaker 1: Bump and I'm gonna jump right into it because we've
- 0:49Speaker 1: got some good stuff to talk about. Yeah, got some
- 0:51Speaker 1: good stuff. Seahawks obviously take care business. Forth can say
- 0:53Speaker 1: good win. That is their four hundredth regular season win
- 0:57Speaker 1: in franchise history. So big ups there, lots of wins.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Yawks are now ten one in one against Arizona at
- 1:03Speaker 1: State Farm Stadium since twenty thirteen owned that thing. The
- 1:06Speaker 1: twelves are out there in full force. As we heard them,
- 1:07Speaker 1: they were loud, they were loud. And then Seattle's won
- 1:11Speaker 1: seven in a row and eight of nine in this series.
- 1:14Speaker 5: That's crazy. I didn't feel like they had that that
- 1:16Speaker 5: much dominance. I know Colt McCoy snuck one in the
- 1:19Speaker 5: years ago. Yeah, but uh, Kyler Murray hasn't beaten the
- 1:22Speaker 5: Hawks yet.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Is that?
- 1:23Speaker 1: Is that what you told me? Or is that he's
- 1:24Speaker 1: that I hear that he's beaten the Hawks. He just
- 1:27Speaker 1: hasn't beaten him down there. Okay, I mean, let's see,
- 1:29Speaker 1: I'm trying to think the last loss down there that
- 1:31Speaker 1: ten to one to one. The loss is twenty twenty
- 1:34Speaker 1: COVID YEP, where the Seahaws are five and no memory,
- 1:36Speaker 1: lost in overtime and then though other than the tie
- 1:39Speaker 1: obviously in twenty sixteen, but their only other wins have
- 1:41Speaker 1: been up at Lomenfield unfortunately.
- 1:43Speaker 4: Anyway, things are good, Bob.
- 1:44Speaker 6: Looking good, baby, let's get it.
- 1:46Speaker 4: Vibes are goodletop right into that matchup. What had happened, See.
- 1:52Speaker 1: What had happened was what had happened at first was
- 1:55Speaker 1: what had happened was on Hawk Talk. But the Seahawks
- 1:59Speaker 1: defense has been dominant the last five games.
- 2:02Speaker 4: They're probably the corport not probably.
- 2:03Speaker 1: They are the culporate for the turnaround in this season
- 2:06Speaker 1: and what's happened as of late. And like I said,
- 2:08Speaker 1: they're the major factor. They're the reason why the Seahawks
- 2:11Speaker 1: are the position they are. But Sunday, for the first
- 2:13Speaker 1: time in a couple weeks, kind of started off a
- 2:15Speaker 1: little rocky defensively, wasn't their best start. Cardinals march right
- 2:18Speaker 1: down the field, going six plays seven yards, ending with
- 2:20Speaker 1: the forty one touch forty one yard touchdown to Michael
- 2:23Speaker 1: Wilson that made the score seven zero.
- 2:25Speaker 4: So Seahawks behind the ball early.
- 2:27Speaker 5: Yeah, Covid just got caught flat footed. I don't know
- 2:29Speaker 5: exactly what the call was. Maybe he was expecting some
- 2:31Speaker 5: help somewhere, a reroute, who knows, but goodbye the Cardinals to.
- 2:35Speaker 6: Come out swing him.
- 2:36Speaker 5: But the Seahawks offense will respond, but a drive of
- 2:38Speaker 5: their own legal thirteen plays seventy one yards. Had to
- 2:41Speaker 5: settle for field goals. Okay, you get points. That made
- 2:44Speaker 5: the score seven to three. That's when the defense got going.
- 2:47Speaker 2: Man.
- 2:47Speaker 5: On the next drive, Ernest Jones drops to the hook
- 2:50Speaker 5: reeves Kyler Murray's eyes snatches it out the air. It
- 2:53Speaker 5: was intended for Marvin Harrison. On the next place, Geno
- 2:56Speaker 5: waste no time. Jayson corner route, nice routes at the
- 3:00Speaker 5: top of his route, violent with the stick left foot
- 3:02Speaker 5: in the ground in the corner touchdown way to respond quickly, Yeah.
- 3:06Speaker 4: No kidding.
- 3:06Speaker 1: And you talked about that violent move as a safety
- 3:09Speaker 1: there he kind of he didn't.
- 3:11Speaker 4: Make him freeze, but he kind of he kind of
- 3:12Speaker 4: froze right there, like.
- 3:13Speaker 6: A little lost step like what you're doing, which.
- 3:16Speaker 1: Jay said, he's smooth, smooth, smooth, smooth. That made the
- 3:18Speaker 1: score ten to seven. Two plays later, the Kyler Murray
- 3:21Speaker 1: got forced into another bad decision that he was pressured
- 3:24Speaker 1: then picked off by Kobe Bryant, his third on the season.
- 3:27Speaker 1: So the Seahawks offense made the Cardinals pay once again,
- 3:30Speaker 1: driving down the field on five plays forty six yards,
- 3:33Speaker 1: ending with a one yard touchdown from Zach Sharperney.
- 3:36Speaker 4: Bump.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Can you talk about what happened on that play a
- 3:37Speaker 1: little bit on Zach Sharpernett. Yeah, a lot, a lot happened.
- 3:41Speaker 1: A lot happened. Was that one where they were shifted
- 3:42Speaker 1: all the most? Yeah, I got it tied in there.
- 3:44Speaker 1: We're gonna shift you that way. We got a receiver,
- 3:46Speaker 1: he's gonna move Zach Sharpenna. Actually you go over here.
- 3:48Speaker 1: There was just a lot of window dressing. And you
- 3:50Speaker 1: know what, I appreciate that because inside the five yard
- 3:53Speaker 1: line this team has not been really successful. And Grubb said,
- 3:57Speaker 1: we gotta try something else. We can't just line up
- 4:00Speaker 1: and try to play big boy football, get downhill because
- 4:02Speaker 1: unfortunately that's just not our game. So you get outside
- 4:06Speaker 1: and give it to Sharbonay and you get her done.
- 4:08Speaker 6: So I appreciate them trying something different.
- 4:11Speaker 5: Even if it didn't work, I would have appreciated a
- 4:13Speaker 5: different approach.
- 4:14Speaker 4: Well, the thing about it, you mentioned all the moves.
- 4:17Speaker 1: First of all, when you move the tight ends all
- 4:18Speaker 1: over the place, because they've had formations, they have three
- 4:20Speaker 1: tight ends out there.
- 4:21Speaker 4: But I wrote it down. I think there was four moves.
- 4:23Speaker 1: Brady Russell, he shifts the offset right, then Zack Charbonay
- 4:27Speaker 1: motions outside outside of the tight end. Then aj Barner
- 4:30Speaker 1: comes across the formation. Now he's the other wing on
- 4:32Speaker 1: the other side, and then Sharbai comes back in motion.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Titans come out hat on a hat. I love it
- 4:37Speaker 1: because he was in his back. Let's just call it
- 4:39Speaker 1: what it is.
- 4:39Speaker 6: Yep.
- 4:40Speaker 1: You have to get creative in situations where you're struggling.
- 4:42Speaker 1: So big ups on Ryan greb on that. That made
- 4:44Speaker 1: the score seventeen to seven. Bump Cardinals. They would respond
- 4:49Speaker 1: after that a little decent drive. They'd have several field
- 4:52Speaker 1: goal that made the score seventeen to ten, and then
- 4:54Speaker 1: after back to back punts from both teams, the Seahawks
- 4:56Speaker 1: would really chake control of this football game with Zach
- 4:58Speaker 1: Charbone broke off a fifty one yard touchdown, making the
- 5:01Speaker 1: score twenty four to ten.
- 5:03Speaker 6: That was nice.
- 5:03Speaker 5: We're gonna we're gonna look at that a little later,
- 5:05Speaker 5: give you all the details, but that was a back
- 5:07Speaker 5: breaker fifty one yards. Sharbonnege getting down hill and doing
- 5:11Speaker 5: what he's supposed to do. Then the Seahawks they will
- 5:13Speaker 5: go into the locker room up at the half by
- 5:15Speaker 5: two scores. After back to back punts, the Seahawks offense
- 5:19Speaker 5: would get back on the scoreboard again after ten plays
- 5:21Speaker 5: forty five yards, settling for a field goal from Jason Myers.
- 5:24Speaker 6: On third down, Geno Smith.
- 5:26Speaker 5: Nearly connected with Tyler Tyler Lockett in the corner. It
- 5:30Speaker 5: was a vengeance Tyler Lockett situation. Just couldn't pull an in,
- 5:34Speaker 5: but it's alid good. They settle for a field goal
- 5:36Speaker 5: that made it to score twenty seven to ten.
- 5:39Speaker 4: Cardinals.
- 5:39Speaker 1: They would try to stay in the football game, responding
- 5:41Speaker 1: with a twelve play seventy yard touchdown. Driver Kyler Murray
- 5:44Speaker 1: found James Conner and I still play called little shovel
- 5:46Speaker 1: pass yep. They would convert the two point conversion to
- 5:49Speaker 1: make it twenty seven to eighteen. So the game is
- 5:51Speaker 1: kind of feeling like in reach. The Seahawks never felt
- 5:53Speaker 1: like they weren't in control, but at that point it's
- 5:55Speaker 1: a game. The Hawks will punt on their next two
- 5:57Speaker 1: drives and the Cardinals will drive all the way down
- 5:59Speaker 1: to the Seahawks twenty any one yard line. After getting
- 6:01Speaker 1: stopped on third down, they would decide, Hey, we're gonna
- 6:04Speaker 1: need to get you know, we're down two scores. Let's
- 6:06Speaker 1: kick the field goal. Not so fast. They went out there.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Chad Ryland, he was doing double duty. He was punting,
- 6:11Speaker 1: he was kicking. Unfortunately, the kick went off the crossbar
- 6:14Speaker 1: and he missed a forty yard field goal.
- 6:15Speaker 5: I hate to see it. They're Uh, their punter twisted
- 6:17Speaker 5: his ankle. Man unfortunate, but been rough punter. It has
- 6:21Speaker 5: been rough youself. You got what the cheese on their
- 6:23Speaker 5: third punter. You got Tucker missing stuff.
- 6:26Speaker 1: Michael Dixon big ups getting back in the Yeah, Mike
- 6:28Speaker 1: back in the backspasm stuff.
- 6:29Speaker 5: It's a kicking game across the league is crazy right now. Uh,
- 6:33Speaker 5: the Hawks would We'll put the game one of the
- 6:34Speaker 5: next drive, though, another field goal from Jason Myers made
- 6:37Speaker 5: the score thirty to eighteen, and the defense would keep
- 6:40Speaker 5: the Cardinals out of the end zone on the game's
- 6:41Speaker 5: final drive. The Seahawks out game the Cardinals four hundred
- 6:45Speaker 5: and nine yards to three fifty six. The Seahawks also
- 6:47Speaker 5: out rush the Cardinals. Look at that one seventy six
- 6:50Speaker 5: to one twenty one. Man, we haven't seen that in
- 6:53Speaker 5: a while.
- 6:54Speaker 4: No, we haven't.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Actually, well, it was the best performance of the season
- 6:58Speaker 1: in the football. First time they had one hundred yard
- 7:00Speaker 1: rusher since the Week one, and it was the first
- 7:03Speaker 1: time the team as a team they had rushed for
- 7:05Speaker 1: over one hundred yards since the Rams game in November.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Seahawks one time possession thirty three to twenty six. And
- 7:11Speaker 1: most importantly, they won the tur turnover battle going to
- 7:14Speaker 1: and Ozero.
- 7:14Speaker 5: Yes, sir, you win the turnover battle, You're probably gonna
- 7:17Speaker 5: win that game.
- 7:18Speaker 6: So big us for them.
- 7:19Speaker 5: And after the Hawks lost five or six games, they
- 7:23Speaker 5: have now won four games in a row. First time
- 7:26Speaker 5: that happens is twenty twenty two. That doesn't feel right.
- 7:28Speaker 5: The Seahawks remain all alone the first place in NFC West.
- 7:32Speaker 4: Love to see it. And here's the thing. The Seahawks
- 7:33Speaker 4: are going for a five in a row.
- 7:34Speaker 1: The last time that happened was the last time Seahawks
- 7:36Speaker 1: had won the NFC West title.
- 7:38Speaker 4: That was back in.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Twenty twenty all right, so there was more of that
- 7:41Speaker 1: good mojo. We were broadcasting live from the Seahawks Podcast Studio,
- 7:44Speaker 1: presented by Sony, the official partner of the Seattle Seahawks
- 7:48Speaker 1: and Bump. I think it's safe to say this was
- 7:50Speaker 1: the most complete game by the Seahawks this season. Offense, defense,
- 7:54Speaker 1: special teams. Let's talk about it, playmakers, touching, playmakers to them,
- 8:04Speaker 1: what time it is? Ho wait normally, but we start
- 8:09Speaker 1: with the quarterback and we'll get to Genoss a day.
- 8:11Speaker 4: No, not today.
- 8:12Speaker 1: You gotta talk about these running backs specifically Zach sharbonnay
- 8:16Speaker 1: Man career day Career Day twenty two carries one hundred
- 8:19Speaker 1: and thirty four yards, two touchdowns. He also had seven
- 8:22Speaker 1: receptions for fifty nine yards career hiding total yards, rushing
- 8:26Speaker 1: yards and receiving yards. First one hundred yard game since
- 8:29Speaker 1: Ken Walker had one hundred and three in the season
- 8:31Speaker 1: opener vers Denver.
- 8:32Speaker 4: That was Week one.
- 8:33Speaker 1: We just completed Week fourteen. So love to see it.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Zach Sharbon name running his tailoff, running hard. The offensive
- 8:39Speaker 1: line obviously, if we're talking about Zach, we gotta give
- 8:42Speaker 1: props to the old line did their thing.
- 8:43Speaker 4: But it was really cool to see.
- 8:45Speaker 1: Hey, but the Seahawks are capable of running the football
- 8:48Speaker 1: when they want to. And I just love the physicality
- 8:51Speaker 1: and that just shows that's the last missing piece to
- 8:53Speaker 1: what can take this team to the next level.
- 8:54Speaker 5: And there were downhills kind of runs, you know, guard
- 8:57Speaker 5: tackle pools, you got traps and powers. You did run
- 8:59Speaker 5: some zone but I hit up my connections at UCLA
- 9:03Speaker 5: today and I said, man, what you guys do with
- 9:05Speaker 5: Zach Scharbone. It was a more gap scheme was the
- 9:07Speaker 5: zone he goes? It was actually more zone. So the
- 9:10Speaker 5: fact that he got off during the gap scheme, I
- 9:12Speaker 5: think obviously he's capable of doing it.
- 9:13Speaker 6: He is a running back. You do both.
- 9:15Speaker 5: But maybe he's adding something to his game a little
- 9:17Speaker 5: bit because it was a lot of zone at UCLA. Nonetheless,
- 9:20Speaker 5: big day for Zach Charbeney deserves all the flowers in
- 9:23Speaker 5: the love that he is getting.
- 9:24Speaker 6: Now we're getting to our quarterback.
- 9:26Speaker 5: Geno Smith was twenty four thirty twenty to thirty three
- 9:28Speaker 5: yards in one touchdown, the second consecutive game with zero turnovers.
- 9:33Speaker 5: That is crucial, So the first half of all season
- 9:35Speaker 5: he's gone multiple games without a turnover. He completed eighty
- 9:38Speaker 5: percent of his passes, the best of the year so far.
- 9:41Speaker 5: Look at Gino when you give him time, look at it.
- 9:43Speaker 5: And also what I liked, he wasn't forcing it down
- 9:45Speaker 5: the field. He took so many checkdowns. Man Aj Barner
- 9:48Speaker 5: had a big reception of thirt two yards running gaves
- 9:50Speaker 5: over you got obviously Zach Scharbonay, contributing to the game.
- 9:53Speaker 5: I love the composure in the decision making of Geno.
- 9:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean taking care of the football's paramount. And
- 9:59Speaker 1: how many time this year have we seen Geno go
- 10:01Speaker 1: to the podium and take responsibility for a lot of
- 10:05Speaker 1: interceptions Quite frankly that weren't his fault somewhere, but a
- 10:08Speaker 1: lot of them haven't been this season. And every time
- 10:10Speaker 1: we talk about his eyes, it's got to be better.
- 10:12Speaker 1: They trust me with the ball in my hands to
- 10:13Speaker 1: make good decisions, and that's exactly what he's done the
- 10:16Speaker 1: last two weeks. And like you said, it helps when
- 10:19Speaker 1: you're not under pressure. It helps when you're not getting
- 10:21Speaker 1: sacked a million times of games. So big ups to
- 10:23Speaker 1: the on line and big ups to Gino.
- 10:24Speaker 5: Second game in a row where he experienced the least
- 10:26Speaker 5: pressure of the season. Big us Brady Henderson for that stats.
- 10:29Speaker 5: Second week in a row.
- 10:30Speaker 4: It's hey, I love that trend.
- 10:32Speaker 1: I'll take that trend because, honestly, I mean, we're not
- 10:34Speaker 1: going to get super ahead of ourselves, but if the
- 10:37Speaker 1: Seahawks can protect and run the football, this team can.
- 10:39Speaker 4: Beat anyone in the NFC.
- 10:41Speaker 1: I'll say it right now, the NFC, as good as
- 10:43Speaker 1: the Lions are, as good as the Eagles are, as
- 10:46Speaker 1: good as the Vikings are, Packers wherever you want to
- 10:48Speaker 1: say it, the compete with any one of them, that
- 10:50Speaker 1: they're playing football like that. I mean, shoot, they almost
- 10:52Speaker 1: beat the Lions and that's a completely different team man
- 10:55Speaker 1: on the road. That personnel is a lot different these days. Yeah,
- 10:58Speaker 1: and I'll take the chances in that one in the
- 11:01Speaker 1: rematch anyway. We'll keep it going down the list. Jackson
- 11:03Speaker 1: Smith and Jig Budd just doing what he does, what
- 11:05Speaker 1: he's been doing. Five receptions for eighty two yards one touchdown,
- 11:08Speaker 1: set a single season career high with five touchdowns, and
- 11:11Speaker 1: then this is a sixth game in a row he
- 11:13Speaker 1: has led the Seahawks in receiving. Jackson Smith and Jig
- 11:16Speaker 1: Budd is emerging into a number one receiver and it's
- 11:21Speaker 1: pretty cool, and you have two of them on the
- 11:22Speaker 1: same roster.
- 11:23Speaker 5: He's grooving and Grub is finding ways to get him.
- 11:26Speaker 5: The football man, the slot receiver in today's NFL is
- 11:29Speaker 5: a valuable one and we're seeing that with JSN. He
- 11:31Speaker 5: can play outside too, but he primarily works from the slip.
- 11:34Speaker 5: He's the fifth leading receiver in the league right now,
- 11:36Speaker 5: when it comes to the yards, nine hundred and eleven yards,
- 11:38Speaker 5: that's when check that I go hold up.
- 11:40Speaker 6: He's just been consistent.
- 11:41Speaker 5: He has three one hundred yard games, but then he
- 11:43Speaker 5: has a seventy and eighty, a sixty, a sixty to seventy.
- 11:46Speaker 6: He's consistent. He's looking more and more comfortable.
- 11:48Speaker 5: Had a couple of big plays on third down fingertip
- 11:50Speaker 5: play where he could have gone down to get the football,
- 11:53Speaker 5: use those hands to get after jsm man, I see you.
- 11:56Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:56Speaker 1: I was probably the most underrated play of the game.
- 11:58Speaker 1: I mean that is just textbook. You can't body catch
- 12:01Speaker 1: that one. Ye, most people would have tried to dive.
- 12:03Speaker 1: I would have tried to dive some hands like that.
- 12:05Speaker 1: I'm gonna hit off my soular pass, but no good
- 12:07Speaker 1: gun on him, knowing that he could do something with it.
- 12:10Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, get money. Next up.
- 12:11Speaker 5: Ernest Jones Man probably the best acquisition mid season in
- 12:15Speaker 5: a while. Ernest Jones Man, Big ups, big cat too.
- 12:18Speaker 5: I ain't sleeping on your dog, but this year it's
- 12:20Speaker 5: about Ernest Jones getting picked up eight tackles, one pass defended,
- 12:23Speaker 5: one interception, third consecutive season with one hundred tackles. Man
- 12:27Speaker 5: first game has a Seahawks that he didn't leave the
- 12:29Speaker 5: team in tackles because the young homie Tyree's Night did,
- 12:32Speaker 5: But Ernest Jones is the Him and Leonard are like
- 12:36Speaker 5: the personality of this defense. When Mike McDonald dreams of
- 12:40Speaker 5: this Seahawks defense at night, he dreams of the physicality
- 12:44Speaker 5: of Leonard Williams and Ernest.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Jones without question. I mean, Paul Moore mentioned it on
- 12:50Speaker 1: the postgame show last night. It was the first time
- 12:52Speaker 1: we'd potentially even seen Ernest missus tackle. Yeah, like, oh
- 12:55Speaker 1: my god, he is human, He's missing tackle.
- 12:57Speaker 4: No, Ernest is a.
- 12:58Speaker 1: Baller and so is Leonard Williams playing right down the
- 13:00Speaker 1: middle of that defense. Are balling out big reasons why
- 13:03Speaker 1: the Seahawks are doing what they're doing. And you just
- 13:05Speaker 1: mentioned it, Tyree Knight balling out too. Led the team
- 13:07Speaker 1: in tackles for the first time, twelve tackles, two pass
- 13:10Speaker 1: defended and bringing the wood too.
- 13:12Speaker 4: He smacks somebody last year. I mean, no, buddy, he
- 13:15Speaker 4: just looks confident.
- 13:16Speaker 1: He was on the huddle this past week and just
- 13:17Speaker 1: hearing him talking, is watching how he commands the room
- 13:20Speaker 1: he's just confident on the football field the first couple
- 13:22Speaker 1: games rightfully. So you're a rookie who was not expected
- 13:25Speaker 1: to play as much as he was. He got thrown
- 13:27Speaker 1: in there early against the Patriots and the dolphinse You
- 13:30Speaker 1: look at him now, he looks like a season vet
- 13:31Speaker 1: out there, Doge.
- 13:32Speaker 6: He's smooth.
- 13:32Speaker 5: He's a smooth operator out there. I'm happy for Tyree's Knight.
- 13:36Speaker 5: They man, they rolled the dice with these two Ernest Jones.
- 13:39Speaker 5: Obviously he has a track record. We knew that he
- 13:41Speaker 5: was going to be good, but you never know how
- 13:42Speaker 5: guys ads. But then Tyree's Knight, they said, look, we'll
- 13:45Speaker 5: get rid of some guys for you give you some snaps.
- 13:47Speaker 6: He's taking full advantage of that thing, My dude.
- 13:51Speaker 5: Kobe Bryant four tackles, one pass defended in one interception,
- 13:56Speaker 5: the second time he's picked up Kyler Murray this year.
- 13:58Speaker 5: Kyler Murray got a hate Kobe Brian at this point.
- 14:01Speaker 5: Last time it was a pick six. This time it
- 14:03Speaker 5: was him covering up for a mistake. Essentially. We heard
- 14:07Speaker 5: Mike McDonald talk about what happened. There was a bust
- 14:09Speaker 5: on that play, Kobe Bryant being the football player. I
- 14:11Speaker 5: was telling my coldest today. You always have a plan
- 14:14Speaker 5: X and o's on paper, but then you got to
- 14:16Speaker 5: go and just play football sometimes, right, that's not my assignment.
- 14:19Speaker 5: But the ball is in the air, I'm just going
- 14:20Speaker 5: to go attack it and get it. And he got
- 14:22Speaker 5: his third interception. He leads to the team. Now he
- 14:24Speaker 5: win his first like twenty five to twenty eight games
- 14:26Speaker 5: with no interceptions. My man's got three this year. Kobe
- 14:30Speaker 5: Bryant is holding down that safety spot.
- 14:32Speaker 1: No question about it. Mister opportunity himself. He had to
- 14:36Speaker 1: his fairness. Quandre Diggs stole a couple of picks from
- 14:38Speaker 1: him because of the penalties. Yeah, yeah, but no, I
- 14:42Speaker 1: love what Kobe Bryant's doing again. And you get an
- 14:44Speaker 1: opportunity and you don't let it go. And the competition
- 14:46Speaker 1: on this football team is absolutely crazy. Right now, broadcasting
- 14:50Speaker 1: live from Seahawks Podcast Junior, presented by Sony, the official
- 14:53Speaker 1: partner of the Seattle Seahawks. We mentioned him a little
- 14:55Speaker 1: bit earlier, Leonard Williams doing his thing. Seven tackles, two
- 14:58Speaker 1: TfL is, one pass defended. When you you have a
- 15:00Speaker 1: stat line like that and you're barely mentioned in the
- 15:03Speaker 1: game crazy, that showed you the bar that you have set.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Obviously finally won Defensive Player of the Week last week.
- 15:09Speaker 1: And Leonard Williams big cat doing his thing. Bump back
- 15:13Speaker 1: on offense. What do we see from the receivers?
- 15:15Speaker 5: Receivers gotta go on in Jackson, Smith and Jay With
- 15:17Speaker 5: the last four games, he has a ninety two percent
- 15:21Speaker 5: catch rate. Ninety two percent so today or yesterday. Five targets,
- 15:25Speaker 5: five receptions, eighty two yards, one touchdown. Zach Charvine perfect,
- 15:29Speaker 5: seven targets, seven receptions fifty nine yards.
- 15:32Speaker 6: DK, don't sleep on DK.
- 15:34Speaker 5: I know Jsen is getting a lot of love, but
- 15:36Speaker 5: DK had a couple of big catches late in the
- 15:37Speaker 5: game two and he is due. Six targets, four catches
- 15:40Speaker 5: for forty nine yards. Noah Fan had three for eight.
- 15:43Speaker 5: Team AJ Barner had the biggest reception that wasn't a
- 15:48Speaker 5: touchdown or a third down pickup of the day man
- 15:50Speaker 5: when he caught that ball in the flap and ran
- 15:52Speaker 5: over the Cardinals defender had the whole sideline high. He
- 15:55Speaker 5: had one for thirteen. Kenny McIntosh big ups. He touched
- 15:58Speaker 5: the ball seven times.
- 15:59Speaker 6: Run on the rock. But here you had two receptions
- 16:01Speaker 6: for seven.
- 16:01Speaker 5: Yards, Barrel Brown got him one one for six, and
- 16:04Speaker 5: then Halani, you know what you get your first reception,
- 16:07Speaker 5: it's a negative, but it's okay.
- 16:08Speaker 6: Receipt, you touch the rock, it's all good.
- 16:11Speaker 4: Well, I just love what they were able to do.
- 16:12Speaker 1: You look at attempts in rushing attempts, superbounds offensive attack from
- 16:16Speaker 1: the Seahawks.
- 16:16Speaker 4: So love to see that there. But that'll bring us
- 16:19Speaker 4: to the play the game.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Zach Charbonnay takes it fifty one yards to the house
- 16:23Speaker 1: in the second quarterday.
- 16:26Speaker 3: Left side has a first down of that's up, he's
- 16:29Speaker 3: down the thirty the twenty fifteen to ten to five
- 16:33Speaker 3: touchdown Seahawks, and they are still chasing. Zack Charbonay forty
- 16:41Speaker 3: nine yards to pay dirt his second touchdown of the game.
- 16:45Speaker 2: The Seahawks came in saying, we gotta find a way
- 16:48Speaker 2: to run the ball, Holy catfish. They do forty nine
- 16:52Speaker 2: yards for another six for Charbonay and the Seahawks extend
- 16:56Speaker 2: their lead twenty three to ten.
- 17:00Speaker 5: Man, what I love about gap scheme runs, So that's
- 17:03Speaker 5: when you're pinning, you're pulling guys. It's not his zone
- 17:06Speaker 5: where everyone's getting downhill is that when it hits it
- 17:09Speaker 5: looks just beautiful.
- 17:11Speaker 4: And this is.
- 17:11Speaker 6: Exactly what happens right here.
- 17:12Speaker 5: Typically when you run this kind of play, I call
- 17:15Speaker 5: this like a GT pull, a guard tackle pull. That
- 17:17Speaker 5: right side is gonna pull, and everyone from the center
- 17:20Speaker 5: to the left side are just gonna block down and
- 17:22Speaker 5: then Cross is gonna get to that second level to
- 17:24Speaker 5: the linebacker. Typically, when you do this, you have e
- 17:27Speaker 5: motion going the opposite direction, kind of hold the end.
- 17:31Speaker 5: This time they're gonna say, now, we're not gonna do
- 17:33Speaker 5: any emotion. Geno's gonna hold the end by him just
- 17:35Speaker 5: being available. Right If that guy goes downhill, maybe Gino
- 17:38Speaker 5: has the option to pull him.
- 17:40Speaker 6: Gino ain't thinking about pulling it. He's given it to
- 17:41Speaker 6: Zach sharper name.
- 17:42Speaker 5: So what happens is hands a football off the right
- 17:45Speaker 5: side of the line goes crazy, Oh Maya, and we
- 17:49Speaker 5: got our guy able Luke is all Maya blows somebody up.
- 17:52Speaker 4: Right.
- 17:53Speaker 5: You don't pass up color now, you do not pass
- 17:55Speaker 5: up a jersey. The guy that's vacated about Charles Cross
- 17:57Speaker 5: thinks he's free, then he sees the big boy lights
- 18:00Speaker 5: him up. You got Abe Lucas wrapping around scaring Kazier
- 18:04Speaker 5: White the line back of there, and then Charles Cross
- 18:06Speaker 5: working up to that second level, and Zach Sharbnay does
- 18:10Speaker 5: a great job of just giving those big boys time
- 18:12Speaker 5: to get in front, filling the space, hitting it and
- 18:15Speaker 5: then finishing it.
- 18:16Speaker 1: No, I love Tala Laomaya crushing the game. Anybody pull
- 18:20Speaker 1: like that and you put someone on their back, I'm
- 18:22Speaker 1: sure they're gonna love watching that in film today. The
- 18:24Speaker 1: other thing too, is as a defender, he again, his
- 18:27Speaker 1: eyes probably got super big. He's like, oh, I'm free,
- 18:29Speaker 1: and it's like you're either going you either got to
- 18:31Speaker 1: keep your outside arm free or you got a wrong
- 18:33Speaker 1: shoulder that and try to spill it. But he didn't
- 18:35Speaker 1: neither and just ended up on the ground because Loo
- 18:38Speaker 1: Maya the Utah boy was like, uh uh, bro, I'm
- 18:40Speaker 1: gonna put you here against your will yep, and then
- 18:42Speaker 1: Ken or Zach Scharbarney did the rest.
- 18:44Speaker 4: So love to see that and if they can. They
- 18:46Speaker 4: found some success with that, and.
- 18:47Speaker 1: They went to it over and over again last game,
- 18:49Speaker 1: So I'm hoping that's just the tip of the iceberg
- 18:51Speaker 1: because Bump, you know, obviously, as an offensive coordinator, once
- 18:54Speaker 1: you start having success with certain plays, all the different
- 18:57Speaker 1: things you can do off of that action because they have.
- 18:59Speaker 4: To respect it.
- 19:00Speaker 6: I got five plays in my mind right now going
- 19:02Speaker 6: off for that.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Once you swing by Grubs office on the way you
- 19:05Speaker 1: got you chop it up and figure out what had happened.
- 19:08Speaker 1: But the Seahawks another huge win taking down the division
- 19:12Speaker 1: rival Cardinals and bump this.
- 19:14Speaker 4: I could get used to this.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Yeah, four weeks see in a row, give us the
- 19:17Speaker 1: best formation in football.
- 19:20Speaker 2: Here comes the Seahawks offense onto the field and the
- 19:22Speaker 2: Vikings defense trutching out there knowing that one kneel down
- 19:28Speaker 2: and the Seahawks are gonna line the clock down and
- 19:31Speaker 2: win this one.
- 19:32Speaker 4: It's the victory formation on Hawk Talk. I alluded to
- 19:35Speaker 4: it earlier.
- 19:36Speaker 1: This is probably the most complete game the Seahawks have
- 19:38Speaker 1: played all season long. They were getting all phases against
- 19:41Speaker 1: the in the game, the offense, defense, special teams. We
- 19:44Speaker 1: know what a disaster special teams was the week before,
- 19:47Speaker 1: so love to see them come out there play clean
- 19:49Speaker 1: football and bump.
- 19:51Speaker 4: It was about the run game.
- 19:52Speaker 5: It was about the run game. Let me pick up
- 19:53Speaker 5: the special team zone. No football's put on the ground.
- 19:56Speaker 5: The Canadian came in Jalen and did his thing the
- 20:00Speaker 5: biggest a special teams too. But yeah, run game one
- 20:02Speaker 5: hundred and seventy six on the ground one thirty four
- 20:04Speaker 5: from Zach sharbon Dame, the first time since Week nine
- 20:07Speaker 5: the Seahawks had rushed for more than one hundred yards
- 20:09Speaker 5: as a team. We've been begging, we've been asking for this,
- 20:13Speaker 5: we had it, finally showed up.
- 20:15Speaker 4: No love to see it.
- 20:16Speaker 1: And again, anytime you have something like that happened, everyone's
- 20:20Speaker 1: happy for him.
- 20:21Speaker 4: We want ken Walker to be back, Yes, soon possible.
- 20:23Speaker 4: And if you got.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Both of them playing like that, I'm telling you, man,
- 20:26Speaker 1: wash out of the seas at this run game.
- 20:28Speaker 6: They don't see on Kenny mack sprinkling a little.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Kenny, come on, man, I'm so advocated Mack too. You
- 20:34Speaker 1: could just see it felt the same. If he had
- 20:36Speaker 1: the same amount of carries, I feel like you would
- 20:37Speaker 1: have had the same production because he was seeing things
- 20:39Speaker 1: well and he's running hard.
- 20:40Speaker 4: So big up Kenny McIntosh. And then Gino Smith.
- 20:43Speaker 1: He was efficient for the second week in a row,
- 20:45Speaker 1: and like I said, most important thing, no turnovers, taking
- 20:48Speaker 1: care of the football, and Gino was in sack all long.
- 20:52Speaker 1: Big up's the offensive line because they're playing some good
- 20:53Speaker 1: ball too.
- 20:54Speaker 6: Big boys getting it done.
- 20:55Speaker 5: Defensively, the Seahawks continue to find ways to take the
- 20:58Speaker 5: ball away. You picked off Murray twice and you didn't
- 21:01Speaker 5: allow the run game to go nuts.
- 21:04Speaker 6: I don't think people realize this about the Cardinals.
- 21:06Speaker 5: At one point that the fifth best rush game in
- 21:09Speaker 5: the in the NFL, and then coming into this game,
- 21:12Speaker 5: they had a top three defense, they had a top
- 21:14Speaker 5: five or six offense. They were playing some good football,
- 21:17Speaker 5: but this defense kind of locked them up.
- 21:20Speaker 1: They went for like a buck fifty on the Vikings,
- 21:22Speaker 1: who had the number one run defense the week before. Yeah,
- 21:24Speaker 1: and they were I believe they were so the sixth
- 21:26Speaker 1: run offense in the league going into last week. So
- 21:29Speaker 1: the Seahawks shutting them down, doing their thing. Remember, guys,
- 21:32Speaker 1: the CENTRAFL season. Feel every play, every hit, every moment
- 21:35Speaker 1: with the Sony one thousand XM five noise canceling headphones,
- 21:39Speaker 1: the official headphones of the Seattle Seahawks. With premium noise cancelation,
- 21:42Speaker 1: you're in the zone, no distractions. Is pure football. Whether
- 21:45Speaker 1: you're in your living room or on the go, You'll
- 21:47Speaker 1: never miss a beat with Sony headphones, Bump Seahawks in
- 21:51Speaker 1: the driver's SEATONFC West got to keep stacking. These wins
- 21:55Speaker 1: got the Packers coming into town on Sunday night. Football, Baby,
- 22:01Speaker 1: you want to talk about every week the Seahawks have
- 22:03Speaker 1: felt like they've been playing a playoff game.
- 22:05Speaker 4: Here's another one at home.
- 22:06Speaker 1: This is a huge one in the NFC and me
- 22:08Speaker 1: and bump will dive into everything about the Packers. Coming
- 22:12Speaker 1: up on Thursday with the next preview edition of Hawk Talk.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Again the Seahawks getting it done beating the Cardinals thirty
- 22:18Speaker 1: to eighteen. He's Michael Bumpus on NASA Chobe. Thanks for listening.
- 22:21Speaker 1: This has been Hawk Talk
