- 0:07Speaker 1: the right class to Michael Bumpers, who bounces off on
- 0:09Speaker 1: one tackler gets inside the forty down of the thirty
- 0:12Speaker 1: five yard line. Powered by seahawks dot Com mat pump
- 0:16Speaker 1: fakes looking at the goal line. He throws it into
- 0:17Speaker 1: the end zone. Touchdown. Sayhawks, it's Michael Bumpers with a
- 0:21Speaker 1: diving kitchen the end zone. Ten yard touchdown reception for Bumpus,
- 0:26Speaker 1: and the kid out of Washington State has found himself
- 0:29Speaker 1: a place on this team. Now here's your host, Nasa Chuby.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Welcome into another edition of Hawk Talk. The Seahawks beat
- 0:37Speaker 1: the Cardinals nineteen to nine in a weird game at
- 0:39Speaker 1: Looming Field over the weekend. But it's a victory Monday.
- 0:42Speaker 1: It's a good feeling. The Seahawks takedown at a Vision
- 0:44Speaker 1: rival in the Arizona Cardinals. Great Sunday, but you know
- 0:47Speaker 1: how we do every week after a Seahawks win. We
- 0:50Speaker 1: talked to Big Ray getting the trenches. It's time to
- 0:56Speaker 1: go inside the trenches with former Seahawk Ray Roberts ray Man.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Huge win for the Seahawks at home, like I mentioned
- 1:05Speaker 1: against the Cardinals, but definitely not the way you expected.
- 1:08Speaker 1: The Seahawks team one hundred percent relied and were led
- 1:11Speaker 1: by their defense. What set out the most of you
- 1:14Speaker 1: when their defensive performance, well, you know, I just liked
- 1:18Speaker 1: the aggression that they played with that you can tell
- 1:21Speaker 1: at at the defensive front they were being a little
- 1:24Speaker 1: bit more aggressive. Actually, listened to Pete Carroll this morning,
- 1:28Speaker 1: was saying they made some little adjustments to the defensive
- 1:31Speaker 1: line so they could be more aggressive. And I'll be honest,
- 1:33Speaker 1: I think what they did was, I know, the last
- 1:36Speaker 1: against the Saints, I was saying, man like, they're like
- 1:38Speaker 1: a yard off the ball and they're kind of reading
- 1:40Speaker 1: and reacting, and it seems like they closed that gap
- 1:43Speaker 1: in that neutral zone. They kind of took up more
- 1:45Speaker 1: of that neutral zone and then they were attacking gaps
- 1:48Speaker 1: versus of reading and reacting. And I think that allowed
- 1:50Speaker 1: a guy like twenty four to have this most productive
- 1:53Speaker 1: game and all the time he had five tackles, I
- 1:56Speaker 1: think he had a sack, He had a past defense,
- 1:59Speaker 1: so he was on some really good work. Quentin Jefferson
- 2:01Speaker 1: came through with a sack. Darryl Taylor came through with
- 2:03Speaker 1: a sack, and it also came through with a sack.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I think Adams had a sack. So that defensive line
- 2:08Speaker 1: was getting super aggressive. And then of course you have
- 2:10Speaker 1: the young dudes in the back, the young Bucks with
- 2:14Speaker 1: h t Wu, Terry Willing coming up with an interception
- 2:17Speaker 1: and the fumble recovery and Kobe bryant Um forcing that fumble.
- 2:21Speaker 1: So I just liked the aggressiveness that the defense played with.
- 2:26Speaker 1: I love it, red, you love to see it. You
- 2:28Speaker 1: felt like this team needed a performance like that. What
- 2:31Speaker 1: does it mean for this defense when you can walk
- 2:33Speaker 1: off the field and say, like, we held it down
- 2:35Speaker 1: for our offense. It was about time. Yeah, I think
- 2:39Speaker 1: it builds that type of confidence because you know, you
- 2:41Speaker 1: want to play like complimentary football, and some people go like,
- 2:44Speaker 1: well what does that mean? Where you want to you know,
- 2:46Speaker 1: be able to play with short you know, create short
- 2:48Speaker 1: fields for your for your offense, get the ball back
- 2:50Speaker 1: to them with turnovers and such like that, keep them
- 2:52Speaker 1: off the scorm board they had. You know, the Cardinals
- 2:56Speaker 1: had eleven drives and didn't score one single touchdown, So
- 2:59Speaker 1: like that kind of stuff builds confidence just in the
- 3:02Speaker 1: whole concept of team chemistry. But then it's also important
- 3:06Speaker 1: for this defense to be able to look at tape
- 3:09Speaker 1: and go, this is this is how it works. This
- 3:12Speaker 1: is what it looks like when it works. So you
- 3:14Speaker 1: could say, like, well, they had injuries only offensive line,
- 3:16Speaker 1: their running back was out and all this other kind
- 3:18Speaker 1: of stuff. Well, that's cool, everyone has injuries, but it's
- 3:21Speaker 1: a good film for this defense to go, Okay, this
- 3:24Speaker 1: is what it looks like when you're doing it right.
- 3:26Speaker 1: So then you have a you can internalize it differently.
- 3:28Speaker 1: So I think it was a win for the defense
- 3:30Speaker 1: in so many other ways than just to score board. Now, Ray,
- 3:34Speaker 1: you mentioned two Cherik Willin, who's been balling, Kobe Bryant,
- 3:38Speaker 1: who's been balling. These rookies have played some of the
- 3:39Speaker 1: best football that anyone could have imagined. Right now, Intrigue
- 3:42Speaker 1: is probably at the point of looking at Rookie of
- 3:44Speaker 1: the Year type stuff, that's how well he's playing. Now,
- 3:48Speaker 1: it's early in his career, so I'm gonna put you
- 3:50Speaker 1: on the spot. But it's Trague already the best corner
- 3:53Speaker 1: since Richard Sherman played in Seattle. Well, I will say,
- 3:57Speaker 1: at least in the last few years, because we just
- 3:59Speaker 1: haven't seen We've seen some good corners here and they've
- 4:02Speaker 1: made some good plays, but they haven't been so impactful
- 4:04Speaker 1: and dynamic the way he has made him. And then
- 4:07Speaker 1: you know, obviously he's a little more quiet than Richard,
- 4:10Speaker 1: you know, so it's uh but but yeah, I would
- 4:12Speaker 1: have to say I can't just put my finger on
- 4:14Speaker 1: another cornerback where I would be like, well, I don't
- 4:16Speaker 1: know this guy might have been, but this dude has
- 4:18Speaker 1: been has shown up. You know, Like like I said
- 4:22Speaker 1: in the pre and postgame show, he doesn't know any better,
- 4:24Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. He's just he's learning, you know,
- 4:26Speaker 1: like Quandre dig said, he's learning from the head up,
- 4:28Speaker 1: I mean from the shoulder up. And then he's applying
- 4:31Speaker 1: that to this talent and it's a length and its
- 4:33Speaker 1: ability that he has and it's just been a beautiful
- 4:35Speaker 1: thing to watch. Let's stick with the rookie theme. We
- 4:40Speaker 1: had another rook do you have his breaking out party?
- 4:42Speaker 1: And Ken Walker Man, he had twenty one cares for
- 4:44Speaker 1: ninety seven yards. I love the way they used him.
- 4:47Speaker 1: There's a direct snap to him. He had a thirty
- 4:50Speaker 1: four yard run, eleven yard touchdown. What do you see?
- 4:52Speaker 1: How did this rookie and what did you think of
- 4:54Speaker 1: his performance? Well, it was interesting, you know, buff you
- 4:56Speaker 1: and I spoke to him on Thursday and he was
- 5:00Speaker 1: and what was the difference between what he brings to
- 5:02Speaker 1: the table versus what Penny brought to the table. And
- 5:04Speaker 1: he was like, you know, no disrespect the penny. You know,
- 5:06Speaker 1: he's a bigger dude. He runs more downhill. I'm gonna
- 5:08Speaker 1: shift your dude. And so that's what it looked like
- 5:12Speaker 1: on the field, Like even like it reminded me of
- 5:14Speaker 1: just a tiny bit of like Barry Sanders where some
- 5:17Speaker 1: of his best runs were like two yard games because
- 5:19Speaker 1: he broke about fifteen ankles on his way to those
- 5:21Speaker 1: two yards. And Tenneth Walker the third is that type
- 5:26Speaker 1: of is that type of runner? You know? I think
- 5:28Speaker 1: I saw the day where I think he leaves the
- 5:30Speaker 1: league and the most mistackles I think with twenty two
- 5:34Speaker 1: and he only has forty carries. So this dude has
- 5:37Speaker 1: like some the lateral movement and in his ability to
- 5:40Speaker 1: kind of put his foot in the ground and get
- 5:41Speaker 1: some yards. It's a beautiful thing. And so I was
- 5:43Speaker 1: just happy for a guy like him to be able
- 5:46Speaker 1: to come in and kind of fill the void. And
- 5:48Speaker 1: he came. I think he came up three yards shark
- 5:50Speaker 1: from one hundred yards. But I think the guy's going
- 5:53Speaker 1: to be really special and something good to have in
- 5:55Speaker 1: the back. Go here. Now. Staying on offense, Ray Gina
- 6:00Speaker 1: was sacked the season, I five times on Sunday. What
- 6:03Speaker 1: do you see from the offensive line overall? We know
- 6:05Speaker 1: Charles Cross and Abe Lucas looked really good this season.
- 6:08Speaker 1: We know they've got good play from Phil Haynes. Damian
- 6:10Speaker 1: Lewis gave Jackson awesome blythe but what do you see
- 6:13Speaker 1: overall on Sunday and what led to more sacks? Well,
- 6:17Speaker 1: I think what really led to the sacks or maybe
- 6:21Speaker 1: some protection confusion because the Cardinals started crowding the line
- 6:26Speaker 1: of scrimmage. They didn't have every dude covered in the
- 6:28Speaker 1: double A gap lits the two inside linebackers. At least
- 6:31Speaker 1: that's what they started out, and so then they were
- 6:33Speaker 1: running some games off that. I think there was either
- 6:35Speaker 1: the freeze, the strong safety or one of their linebackers.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Summer twenty five, I can't remember his name, but he
- 6:39Speaker 1: came up with a couple of those sacks because everyone's
- 6:42Speaker 1: like they're running picking rolls, so they're picking the offensive
- 6:45Speaker 1: lineman and he was rolling around the opposite way and
- 6:48Speaker 1: getting a sack. As it relates to the rookies, I think,
- 6:51Speaker 1: you know a lot of times people don't understand. So
- 6:53Speaker 1: it's really hard to compare rookie offensive lineman to like
- 6:58Speaker 1: veteran offensive lineman. So when you see the PFT stuff
- 7:00Speaker 1: and they're like, have the whole list of dudes, and
- 7:02Speaker 1: most of those dudes are better dudes. There's so many
- 7:04Speaker 1: little nuances to learn, uh in this game as an
- 7:07Speaker 1: offensive linement, and some of that stuff got them this week.
- 7:11Speaker 1: So there were guys that were getting into their chests
- 7:13Speaker 1: a little faster, with more power and speed than they
- 7:16Speaker 1: had expected. There were times where they were they were
- 7:19Speaker 1: getting right to the same depth of the quarterback, but
- 7:22Speaker 1: they were given the defender or two way goal. Usually
- 7:25Speaker 1: when you get to the depth of the quarterback, you
- 7:27Speaker 1: want to be an inside out on the on the
- 7:29Speaker 1: on the pass rusher, so you can run them around
- 7:30Speaker 1: the corner. What they were kind of head up to
- 7:33Speaker 1: them like they're trying to take a charge, but that
- 7:34Speaker 1: allows them to slide off back to the inside when
- 7:36Speaker 1: Gino steps up to get sacked. So that happened a
- 7:39Speaker 1: couple of times with the tackle. So those are things
- 7:41Speaker 1: you just learned from getting the reps and the reps
- 7:43Speaker 1: and the reps. So you don't want to, you know,
- 7:45Speaker 1: put up five sacks to get your quarterback hurt or
- 7:47Speaker 1: any of those kinds of things. But that's just a
- 7:49Speaker 1: learning process. And the thing I will also say is
- 7:52Speaker 1: that if you watch these guys play, they are not
- 7:55Speaker 1: getting help. They're they're going to get some some of
- 7:58Speaker 1: the best pass rushers in league all by themselves. That's
- 8:02Speaker 1: that's a that Even when I was a rookie play
- 8:04Speaker 1: against Derek Thomas, I had like running back help from
- 8:07Speaker 1: time to time, I would get a chip from the
- 8:08Speaker 1: running back. But these dudes are taken on these pass
- 8:12Speaker 1: rushers for the first time, learning how to study film,
- 8:14Speaker 1: learning how to study players, and they're doing it all
- 8:17Speaker 1: by themselves, and I think that that has to be commended. Yeah,
- 8:21Speaker 1: it's been impressive watching these rookies go to work. Ray.
- 8:24Speaker 1: It was a nice to see this defense put a
- 8:27Speaker 1: game together. Six sacks from six different players, you got
- 8:30Speaker 1: some turnovers. Now I'm looking at the Los Angeles Chargers.
- 8:34Speaker 1: We know they got Justin Herbert, I got Mike Williams,
- 8:37Speaker 1: Keen and Allen might be health. You got Eckler. They
- 8:39Speaker 1: brought over a couple of guys on defense to help out.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Is this the week that the Seahawks put two wins together?
- 8:46Speaker 1: I certainly hope so. I think this is going to
- 8:48Speaker 1: be the biggest challenge to me for this defense so far.
- 8:51Speaker 1: So even though you know the Tayson Hill experienced with
- 8:54Speaker 1: something different, I think they kind of caught him off
- 8:56Speaker 1: guards the amount that they used him. I don't think
- 8:59Speaker 1: they were surprised that they should use them. I just
- 9:00Speaker 1: think there was surprised at the amount that they used them.
- 9:02Speaker 1: But with this offense, with Justin Herbert and Williams and Eckler,
- 9:06Speaker 1: they can do a lot of things. And Ekeler is
- 9:08Speaker 1: like a Swiss Swiss army knife kind of a dude.
- 9:10Speaker 1: He can run the football. He's great at catching screens
- 9:13Speaker 1: and getting behind that pick off of the line and
- 9:15Speaker 1: creating yard Is that way Herbert has wanted to up
- 9:17Speaker 1: and coming young you know quarterbacks, you can most people
- 9:20Speaker 1: have him in the top five, behind the Homes and
- 9:22Speaker 1: Alan and probably Lamar Smith. Somewhere in there, so I
- 9:25Speaker 1: mean Lamar Jackson. So it's going to be a challenge,
- 9:27Speaker 1: I think for this defense to duplicate what they did
- 9:31Speaker 1: last week. And so hopefully a lot of that stuff
- 9:33Speaker 1: has been internalized, they kind of get the idea of
- 9:35Speaker 1: what it looks like putting forward is going to be
- 9:38Speaker 1: more aggressive. You know. Brian mulnay played an excellent football game,
- 9:41Speaker 1: like he did his best impersonation of al Woods as
- 9:45Speaker 1: he possibly could. There's one time he drove the center
- 9:48Speaker 1: all the way back to the lap of the quarterback
- 9:49Speaker 1: and actually tackled the runner with the ball. So I
- 9:52Speaker 1: think there's a lot of positives that came out of
- 9:54Speaker 1: this game that's going to have to carry over that
- 9:56Speaker 1: imperative that it carries over to this game. And then
- 9:59Speaker 1: I would say, like from the offensive perspective, those tackles
- 10:02Speaker 1: are going to be challenged with Khalil Mack and one
- 10:05Speaker 1: of the Bolsa brothers, they're very you know, skilled pass
- 10:07Speaker 1: rushers to at the top in the league, so it's
- 10:09Speaker 1: going to be a challenge for them to make sure
- 10:12Speaker 1: they keep them off, you know, and give them time
- 10:13Speaker 1: to go to the the ball. I hope you're right. Ray,
- 10:16Speaker 1: I think this is the week the Seahawks can get
- 10:18Speaker 1: a couple of wins together. They played really well on Sunday. Ray.
- 10:20Speaker 1: We appreciate you taking time, as you do every single
- 10:23Speaker 1: week to hop on with us. Have a good rest
- 10:24Speaker 1: of your week, and we'll talk to you soon. Right, yes, sir,
- 10:27Speaker 1: it's right, thanks brother. All right, it's time to figure
- 10:29Speaker 1: out what had happened. See what happened? At first? What
- 10:35Speaker 1: had happened was unharnock um. I let the show this man.
- 10:39Speaker 1: It was a weird game. Yeah, it was a weird game.
- 10:42Speaker 1: It was. It was one thing we haven't seen from
- 10:44Speaker 1: the Seahawks so far this season in general. But it
- 10:46Speaker 1: was a game where the Seahawks were never you never
- 10:48Speaker 1: felt like you were in doubt. They were always kind
- 10:50Speaker 1: of in control of the game. But at the same time,
- 10:52Speaker 1: it wasn't what you used to seeing. The offense didn't
- 10:54Speaker 1: go crazy, the defense showed up. It was one of
- 10:56Speaker 1: the I don't know, it was just hard to put
- 10:57Speaker 1: my finger on it just didn't feel It felt different, good,
- 11:00Speaker 1: but different. Yeah, yeah, it was different. There were no
- 11:05Speaker 1: we're not a lot of really explosive plays for this offense,
- 11:09Speaker 1: and you held the Cardinals to nine points, and I
- 11:13Speaker 1: read an article from Cliff Kingsbury. He goes, like offensive
- 11:16Speaker 1: production or not having office production. It's something new to him. Right.
- 11:19Speaker 1: There's something that they were able to do is always
- 11:21Speaker 1: put up points. Can they sustain leads? That's a different story,
- 11:25Speaker 1: but yeah, it's been different. So the Seahawks played a
- 11:29Speaker 1: gritty game, a game that I think this defense needed,
- 11:32Speaker 1: like we mentioned with with big rave air, and it
- 11:35Speaker 1: started off rough man. Kyler Murray breaks up before forty
- 11:37Speaker 1: two yard run. These guys haven't put together one play
- 11:40Speaker 1: over thirty yards all season. And then the first drive
- 11:43Speaker 1: they break one off against the seahaustle like okay, here
- 11:45Speaker 1: we go, you know what I'm saying. And in two
- 11:47Speaker 1: plays later you get another explosive player for Rundal More
- 11:49Speaker 1: for twenty six yards. But the defense did their thing.
- 11:52Speaker 1: They got it together and they held up in the
- 11:53Speaker 1: red zone and say, okay, put it up, put it
- 11:55Speaker 1: on the foot, we'll give you three. Yeah, you're right.
- 11:58Speaker 1: When when you saw Kyler Murray go outside. Oh no,
- 12:01Speaker 1: we spent all that time talking about exposed to plays
- 12:03Speaker 1: in the pregame and I'm like, here we go again.
- 12:05Speaker 1: But thank god, the Seahawks defense was up for the challenge.
- 12:08Speaker 1: On the Seahawks en sewing drive, the Cardinals march fifty
- 12:10Speaker 1: five or excuse me, the Seahawks march nine plays fifty
- 12:14Speaker 1: four yards to settle for a field goal, tie the
- 12:16Speaker 1: game up at three. Boom. Cardinals come right back fifty
- 12:19Speaker 1: five yards on fourteen plays, but they turned the ball
- 12:22Speaker 1: over and downs. Kyler Murray wasn't as accurate as you know.
- 12:25Speaker 1: He probably would have hoped on that throw, and a
- 12:27Speaker 1: lot of throws throughout the ball game, the Cardinals turned
- 12:29Speaker 1: the ball over on downs and that was kind of
- 12:31Speaker 1: a theme for the game. Bum Cliff Kingsbury was very
- 12:34Speaker 1: arrogance up the right word, but confident in his offense.
- 12:37Speaker 1: And they went for it on fourth down a lot
- 12:38Speaker 1: and we're not successful. Yeah, there were one for five
- 12:42Speaker 1: on fourth downs. I can't remember a game that I
- 12:45Speaker 1: will watched where that many attempts where we're tried on
- 12:48Speaker 1: fourth down. And we saw ken Walker get going. Man.
- 12:52Speaker 1: We mentioned he had a seventeen yard direct snap bloom.
- 12:54Speaker 1: Then he breaks off a big run that set up
- 12:57Speaker 1: a field goal and made the score twelve to three,
- 13:00Speaker 1: and um, things got a little interesting. But now to
- 13:03Speaker 1: go right Kobe Bryant, he forces a fumbles recovered by
- 13:06Speaker 1: who else, Torik welland he's always around the football. Then
- 13:09Speaker 1: the Seahaws will go three and out, but have a
- 13:12Speaker 1: major misque for the second week in a row. On
- 13:15Speaker 1: this punt team Mike Diskon is in the in the
- 13:18Speaker 1: in the red zone, assume in the end zone. A
- 13:20Speaker 1: nice little stunt. I think they sent like a background
- 13:22Speaker 1: that second level late right up the air of the
- 13:24Speaker 1: b gap man blocked the kig Arizona falls on the
- 13:27Speaker 1: ball in the end zone. Made the score twelve to nine. Yeah,
- 13:31Speaker 1: that was That was tough because you felt like from
- 13:33Speaker 1: the Seahawks perspective, you'd stopped him on everything, your defense,
- 13:36Speaker 1: and from a confident perspective, you're like, we have stopped
- 13:39Speaker 1: them on everything, We've gave him nothing, and to just
- 13:41Speaker 1: give him something like that, you know, I believe that
- 13:43Speaker 1: John Boyle had the story post game. I believe Nick
- 13:46Speaker 1: Boloor said, you know, he was the one who made
- 13:48Speaker 1: the mistake on the call there to get that punt block,
- 13:50Speaker 1: and it's it's a it's a weird thing because that's
- 13:52Speaker 1: such a strong unit. Um. Nick Bloord is one of
- 13:54Speaker 1: the best special teams guys in the National Football Leagues,
- 13:56Speaker 1: a pro bowler, he's all things. So Nick's a great player.
- 13:58Speaker 1: They're gonna get this things figured out. But it was
- 14:00Speaker 1: really tough play because you make the score twelve nine
- 14:03Speaker 1: and now you're thinking, you know, pressures on offense has
- 14:05Speaker 1: got to do something right. Yeah, And that's the most
- 14:08Speaker 1: impressive thing that I saw on Sunday was when there
- 14:10Speaker 1: back was against the wall to say, okay, hey, we
- 14:12Speaker 1: have not been able to push the ball down the
- 14:14Speaker 1: field or get it in the end zone. They were
- 14:15Speaker 1: spawned in the biggest moment in the game, going seven
- 14:18Speaker 1: plays seventy five yards ending in eleven yard run by
- 14:20Speaker 1: ken Walker, making the score nineteen nine, only offensive touchdown
- 14:23Speaker 1: of the game. We will get into that touchdown a
- 14:25Speaker 1: little bit later. Bob's gonna break it down because ken
- 14:28Speaker 1: Walker got got he got busy. So but it was
- 14:31Speaker 1: just really cool to see from an offensive standpoint that
- 14:33Speaker 1: when when it mattered the most, that they came back
- 14:35Speaker 1: and answered right away. Yeah, they came back and answer.
- 14:38Speaker 1: And then Tarique wool and man fourth game in the row,
- 14:41Speaker 1: this guy has an interception sealed deal and it was beautiful, Mane.
- 14:45Speaker 1: It was a goal route. I forget who the receiver was,
- 14:48Speaker 1: but he's right on to him. He phases him out,
- 14:50Speaker 1: he locates the football, he high points that he comes
- 14:53Speaker 1: down with him. It looks like this man's been playing
- 14:55Speaker 1: corner his whole life, but that has not been the case.
- 14:58Speaker 1: And defensively, the Seahawks held the Cardinals to four of
- 15:01Speaker 1: sixteen on third downs, which is great. I mentioned there
- 15:03Speaker 1: were one for five on fourth down. Now, Colin Murray
- 15:06Speaker 1: did rush four hundred yards, but most of that was
- 15:08Speaker 1: on that first run forty two yard run on that
- 15:10Speaker 1: very first drive. But after that he had some he
- 15:13Speaker 1: had some some scrambles. But what I liked about is
- 15:16Speaker 1: that they kept him up the gut, right, you keep
- 15:18Speaker 1: him in the middle of the field, it gon'd be
- 15:20Speaker 1: more guys to corral him and tackle them. Yeah, and
- 15:23Speaker 1: the Seahawks defense, they held the Cardinals to three hundred
- 15:25Speaker 1: and fifteen yards, which the lowest output of the season
- 15:28Speaker 1: in terms of the Seahawks holding opponents too. Always great.
- 15:31Speaker 1: Also on the other side, when you can win a
- 15:33Speaker 1: game where vk and Tyler only have four receptions, yeah,
- 15:37Speaker 1: well those are two of your biggest playmates of the game.
- 15:39Speaker 1: So that means things are going well defensively, you know, offensively,
- 15:42Speaker 1: the Seahawks still kind of struggled on third down for
- 15:44Speaker 1: the second consecutive week, which is a little weird. I
- 15:47Speaker 1: believe they dropped from first in the NFL to about
- 15:49Speaker 1: eight or nine on third down percentage. But it's all
- 15:52Speaker 1: good because the Seahawks came out with the victory. Let's
- 15:55Speaker 1: see who may plays playmakers? Alright, playmakers every week. He
- 16:11Speaker 1: has super forum for this offense to have a jen
- 16:14Speaker 1: Geno Smith was twenty or thirty one for one ninety seven.
- 16:17Speaker 1: He had six carries for forty eight yards, a big
- 16:19Speaker 1: carry on one of those drives of twenty four yards,
- 16:21Speaker 1: scamper if there was a negative. He was sacked five times,
- 16:24Speaker 1: but he did a good job making some big throws.
- 16:27Speaker 1: The only one throw that was a real suspect, I
- 16:28Speaker 1: want to say it was their first drive or d
- 16:30Speaker 1: D came run a hitch. There was a corner right there.
- 16:32Speaker 1: He kind of it was like a trust throw. He
- 16:34Speaker 1: just threw it up there and said, let me see
- 16:35Speaker 1: if d come downs with him. But once again it
- 16:38Speaker 1: didn't throw for seventy eight completion completely percentage, but he
- 16:43Speaker 1: showed control. He tucked the football, and he didn't make
- 16:46Speaker 1: too many risky throws, like every throw is calculated. He's
- 16:50Speaker 1: still going through his ree he still looked sharp. At
- 16:52Speaker 1: no point did I think, all right, Gino, you're doing
- 16:54Speaker 1: too much. Calm down. I always feel like he's in
- 16:56Speaker 1: control in this offensive moving. Yeah, there's two throws in
- 16:59Speaker 1: particular that really like. I believe the Seahawks were going
- 17:01Speaker 1: towards the south end zone and Gino stood in there.
- 17:04Speaker 1: They're bringing pressure. He got the ball off to believe
- 17:07Speaker 1: it was d Eskridge. We'll talking about a little bit later,
- 17:09Speaker 1: but just to stand in the pocket and know you're
- 17:12Speaker 1: gonna get hit and not flinch at all. And that's
- 17:14Speaker 1: what I love about Gino is this his poise over
- 17:18Speaker 1: this offense and when things aren't going well and just
- 17:20Speaker 1: kind of keeping everyone on the same page. So love
- 17:22Speaker 1: to see that. And then in the backfield, we've been
- 17:25Speaker 1: calling him K nine on the post game ken Walk.
- 17:28Speaker 1: First NFL start twenty one, carries ninety seven yards a touchdown,
- 17:32Speaker 1: definitely really probably should have been over a hundred yards
- 17:34Speaker 1: or about four or five negative plays in there, but
- 17:36Speaker 1: he said some nice runs and Ray mentioned it were
- 17:40Speaker 1: to that one yard game he had where he broke
- 17:42Speaker 1: like seven tackles. Was nuts. And then he had another
- 17:45Speaker 1: one going up the right Seahawks sideline where he thought
- 17:48Speaker 1: he was for sure down maybe for one yard game,
- 17:50Speaker 1: breaks about four or five tackles and then barely does
- 17:53Speaker 1: gets tripped up while the shootoss but he was about
- 17:55Speaker 1: to go in the end zone there. So ken Walker
- 17:56Speaker 1: is a shifty dude. Man. You see the I know
- 18:01Speaker 1: Big Ray just compared him the Barrier Sanders, but I
- 18:03Speaker 1: want to say John Schneider might have done the same
- 18:06Speaker 1: thing earlier in the season or during training, kept someone
- 18:08Speaker 1: else had compared to the Barry Sanders, and I might
- 18:10Speaker 1: hold on. Now, Barry's Berry, I get him, But some
- 18:13Speaker 1: of those runs, I'm like, all right, I don't see
- 18:15Speaker 1: too many people who can't do that in Barry was
- 18:18Speaker 1: one of those dudes. So nice to see ken Walker
- 18:20Speaker 1: kind of taking older things and say, look, man, Rashot's
- 18:22Speaker 1: down to worry. I got you. He performing well nextus
- 18:26Speaker 1: Tarik willin every week we're talking about this guy. Five tackles,
- 18:29Speaker 1: one past defended, one reception, and one fumble recovery to
- 18:32Speaker 1: became the seventh player in franchise history and just the
- 18:35Speaker 1: third rookie since year two thousand recorded an interception in
- 18:38Speaker 1: four consecutive games. He is also the first rookie since
- 18:42Speaker 1: nineteen seventy to record both in interception and upon in
- 18:45Speaker 1: fumble recovery in consecutive games. This guy leads the NFL
- 18:50Speaker 1: with four receptions. He's been a corner for twenty games
- 18:54Speaker 1: in his life. He's doing it at the highest level
- 18:58Speaker 1: against some of the best athletes in the world. It's
- 19:00Speaker 1: fun to watch him perform, and it's also cool to
- 19:03Speaker 1: see his maturation in the post game. I remember his
- 19:07Speaker 1: first interview. He's kind of like in awe, like I
- 19:09Speaker 1: can't believe him here, you know what I'm saying to them.
- 19:11Speaker 1: Now to week six, he's like, yeah, I'm bunk here.
- 19:14Speaker 1: You know, I'm trying to make a name for myself
- 19:15Speaker 1: and do what I can't help this team win. It's
- 19:17Speaker 1: been fun, shoo man to ride my guy. Man. Seriously,
- 19:21Speaker 1: four interceptions, you're leading the league in interceptions. Here's the deal, man,
- 19:25Speaker 1: This man had two interceptions in college and now he's
- 19:28Speaker 1: doing that. I heard Pete talking today and you know,
- 19:31Speaker 1: everyone's like, how could you guys, how did everyone miss
- 19:34Speaker 1: on this guy? How do you wait to the fifth round?
- 19:35Speaker 1: He runs a four twenty six, this and that, and
- 19:37Speaker 1: then Pete was even like when we looked at the
- 19:39Speaker 1: film and he what he's doing now he was not
- 19:41Speaker 1: doing in college. He had Joan bits and pieces he
- 19:44Speaker 1: chump plays, but he didn't put it all together. And
- 19:46Speaker 1: whatever happened once he got here. I got no words
- 19:50Speaker 1: for this man because at this point, at the pace
- 19:53Speaker 1: he's on. Obviously he's not gonna get interception every game
- 19:55Speaker 1: for his career, obviously I know that, But pacey's on,
- 19:59Speaker 1: he's gonna move out of rookie of a year conversation,
- 20:02Speaker 1: You're you're moving into defensive player. That your conversation just
- 20:06Speaker 1: it's only a small sampleside, but I'm saying the pace
- 20:08Speaker 1: he's playing at that just shows you how good he's
- 20:10Speaker 1: playing right now. Pro Bowl paste too, Oh yeah, absolutely.
- 20:13Speaker 1: And then his boy on the other side and inside,
- 20:16Speaker 1: really Kobe Bryant playing really good at nicol This man
- 20:18Speaker 1: at eight tackles, one pass defense, one force fumble. Kobe
- 20:22Speaker 1: Bryant has a force fumble in three straight games, and
- 20:25Speaker 1: now he has four in the season, which also leads
- 20:27Speaker 1: the NFL. These dudes are balling out man. And here's
- 20:29Speaker 1: the thing, Like, when you think of punching out the football,
- 20:31Speaker 1: you think of Peanut Thomann, Right, those are the type
- 20:33Speaker 1: of dudes you think of. Byron Maxwell's a guy within
- 20:35Speaker 1: the Seahawks was really good at getting the ball out
- 20:37Speaker 1: in that specific punch. But Kobe man that I didn't
- 20:40Speaker 1: know that about his game. We know he's a gym
- 20:42Speaker 1: Thrope Award winner at Cincinnati, we know he had good
- 20:44Speaker 1: covered skills, lots of interceptions, But I didn't know he
- 20:46Speaker 1: had this extra in his game. And he's coming with
- 20:49Speaker 1: it in the Seahawks. I don't know where they'd be
- 20:51Speaker 1: without these rookies. Man. Kobe Bryant had four forced fumbles
- 20:54Speaker 1: in his whole college career. He's got four in six
- 20:58Speaker 1: weeks in the NFL. They're duing some crazy things. I
- 21:00Speaker 1: don't even think they realize what they're doing right now.
- 21:03Speaker 1: And if they don't, just keep it up and be
- 21:05Speaker 1: oblivious and just keep keep going out every we can
- 21:08Speaker 1: do your thing. Next up, it's Ryan Neil. All he
- 21:11Speaker 1: does is make plays man sub tackles, one sad, one
- 21:13Speaker 1: tackle for lost, one pass defense, one QB hit. And
- 21:17Speaker 1: for the second week, we see and we feel Ryan
- 21:20Speaker 1: neil Last year he comes off the bench, he's making plays.
- 21:23Speaker 1: This year he played behind Josh Jones for a bit.
- 21:25Speaker 1: If they make the switch they bring him in. He's
- 21:28Speaker 1: playing well. Not only is he playing well, but he's
- 21:30Speaker 1: sending the right message to the defense in his postgame
- 21:33Speaker 1: interviews always, and I'm interested to see what these guys
- 21:37Speaker 1: with their mental is through their post games. In a
- 21:39Speaker 1: couple of weeks ago, he was calling dudes out. He's like, look, man,
- 21:41Speaker 1: you can't you can't do your job. They're gonna come
- 21:43Speaker 1: in here and find somebody else to do it. And
- 21:46Speaker 1: he put himself in that conversation too. So to see
- 21:48Speaker 1: him step up again this week is good to see,
- 21:52Speaker 1: right neil Man probably one of the best interviewers on
- 21:54Speaker 1: the team. Also, I love hearing that dude speak because
- 21:56Speaker 1: he just got a lot going on in his mind.
- 21:58Speaker 1: So Ryan love to see out there making plays and
- 22:00Speaker 1: shout out to this d line. Group this unit, this
- 22:04Speaker 1: front seven, I'll group everyone together. He's been taking some heat.
- 22:08Speaker 1: They've been taking some heat because things haven't gone well
- 22:11Speaker 1: defensively and especially specifically in the running game. That has
- 22:14Speaker 1: been a lot of pressures. So they've been They've been
- 22:15Speaker 1: hearing about it for a couple of weeks and they
- 22:18Speaker 1: stood up to the challenge. I mean, huge group effort
- 22:21Speaker 1: by the defensive line coming into the game. They only
- 22:23Speaker 1: had eight sacks in five games. On Sunday, they got
- 22:26Speaker 1: to Kylin Murray six times when the shifties quarterbacks in
- 22:29Speaker 1: the National Football League. He also held the Arizona running
- 22:32Speaker 1: backs to forty four yards on eighteen carries. We mentioned
- 22:36Speaker 1: Murray did rush for one hundred yards. He had a
- 22:37Speaker 1: bulk of it on one carry. But just love to
- 22:40Speaker 1: the defensive line. They've been hearing it and they rose
- 22:42Speaker 1: to the challenge on Sunday and we're a big part
- 22:44Speaker 1: of the victory. It's sir Big up to that defensive
- 22:48Speaker 1: line and pulling four one of my favorites. You know
- 22:50Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I love when Poona is making some plays.
- 22:52Speaker 1: Baby free agent at the University of Texas, Get him Poona.
- 22:56Speaker 1: All right, let's talk about this wide receivers or the
- 22:58Speaker 1: wide receiver round up, not just receivers, man guys for
- 23:01Speaker 1: catching the rock. No Offen had the most targets he's
- 23:03Speaker 1: had all season, which is good to see. He had
- 23:05Speaker 1: seven tis for six d s. Ridge let's go. D
- 23:09Speaker 1: have been in your corner all year, baby, they're trying
- 23:11Speaker 1: to hold you down. Dsk is getting his three targets,
- 23:14Speaker 1: three receptions thirty nine yards. You mentioned DK and Lockett
- 23:17Speaker 1: had two catches a piece, still got the win. That's interesting.
- 23:20Speaker 1: And then Markue's good one. He had a big play,
- 23:22Speaker 1: a big twenty two yard game. I believe it was
- 23:24Speaker 1: on a third down when they were driving a score.
- 23:27Speaker 1: Ken Walker had two receptions, Uncle Will had one, and
- 23:29Speaker 1: then Kolby had a catch as well. Us eight different pasches.
- 23:33Speaker 1: When you're spreading the ball around, you're keeping a defense
- 23:35Speaker 1: on their heels. I love it. Yep. Gino has done
- 23:38Speaker 1: nothing but spreads of love this season, and I love it.
- 23:40Speaker 1: Like you mentioned, I love to see that. And you know,
- 23:43Speaker 1: I think next week it's one of those things where
- 23:45Speaker 1: it's almost like a precursor. It's like a clue. Right,
- 23:48Speaker 1: If DK and Tyler have a game, really got four receptions,
- 23:51Speaker 1: you can that's the safest bet in the world that
- 23:54Speaker 1: they're gonna go off next week. So Charger secondary I
- 23:57Speaker 1: would be aware of because these dudes are coming. They're
- 23:59Speaker 1: gonna be hungry. So love to see that. But let's
- 24:02Speaker 1: get back over to Ken Walker. I alluded to it
- 24:03Speaker 1: earlier in the game. He had an eleven yard touchdown
- 24:06Speaker 1: run that we're gonna break down in the coaches corner.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Underneath hand off, the Walker cuts back outside of the
- 24:12Speaker 1: ten step on Jaman to the five given touchdown saw
- 24:19Speaker 1: Ken Walker the third from eleven yard job carries it
- 24:25Speaker 1: into the end zone on the left side. Nice job
- 24:29Speaker 1: by his offensive front. Great job by Gino getting him
- 24:33Speaker 1: down there his second career touchdown. He is one happy man.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Had the Seahawks how double off on Arizona eighteen to nine.
- 24:42Speaker 1: What did you see, bump. It's a beautiful person ten
- 24:45Speaker 1: play there in eleven person. Now that means one running back,
- 24:48Speaker 1: one tight end. You got Kobe Parkinson who was on
- 24:51Speaker 1: the right side of the line of scrimmage, right next
- 24:53Speaker 1: to Abe Lucas. And this is really like a delayed counter. Look. Typically,
- 24:57Speaker 1: on your counter you're gonna block everyone on the left
- 25:00Speaker 1: side to the right, and you're gonna pull your left guard,
- 25:03Speaker 1: excuse me, your right guard and your right tackle right here.
- 25:05Speaker 1: If they say okay, Kobe, you're gonna pretty much take
- 25:07Speaker 1: the position of that right tackle and you're gonna pull.
- 25:10Speaker 1: So they pull the right guard and Kobe Parkinson and
- 25:13Speaker 1: everyone else blocks down to the right. And another thing
- 25:16Speaker 1: that you typically do is a misdirection right. You you
- 25:19Speaker 1: line up ken Walker on the right side of Gino
- 25:22Speaker 1: and make it seem like you're going to the right.
- 25:24Speaker 1: These flip left. This is kind of like a delayed
- 25:26Speaker 1: counter right. Ken Walker takes his time, he lets the
- 25:29Speaker 1: pullers get in front of him, and finds space. Pretty much.
- 25:33Speaker 1: I want to point out is that is that gay
- 25:35Speaker 1: who's sixty that's Damian Lewis. Damian Lewis getting just enough
- 25:38Speaker 1: of that end when he's pulling to the left to
- 25:41Speaker 1: kind of spring ken Walker and then Kobe Parkinson leads
- 25:44Speaker 1: the wave, gets up the gud, gets a body on
- 25:46Speaker 1: the safety and once you get by that first wave,
- 25:49Speaker 1: that first wave is that that d line if they've
- 25:51Speaker 1: sent a blitzer. Once you get by that first wave,
- 25:53Speaker 1: you gotta look for space outside. It's exactly what he does.
- 25:56Speaker 1: Passes the first wave, he gets outside. Now he's one
- 26:00Speaker 1: on one with the safety. He does skip stiff arm
- 26:04Speaker 1: at the same time froze him and got into that
- 26:07Speaker 1: end zone. I've never really seen a move like that,
- 26:09Speaker 1: and now it's never really seen him, but it worked
- 26:11Speaker 1: for him. Then he gets an end zone and does
- 26:13Speaker 1: a dance that I see TikTok or something like that. Yeah,
- 26:17Speaker 1: I don't know exactly what the dance was because we're
- 26:19Speaker 1: getting older and I apparently we're out of touch. Well
- 26:21Speaker 1: it's young about that. But anyway, before we get into
- 26:24Speaker 1: his dancing skills you mentioned on that delay counterlook what
- 26:27Speaker 1: I like about to start off. So Kobe Parkinson, he's
- 26:29Speaker 1: the one who's pulling from the right side of the formation.
- 26:33Speaker 1: He doesn't flatline the guy, but he get gets just
- 26:35Speaker 1: enough and that's what you asked where he gets just
- 26:37Speaker 1: enough for Walker to get that second level DK another
- 26:40Speaker 1: nice block right there, see on the edge, and then
- 26:42Speaker 1: Ken Walker, Man, why don't you have to do this?
- 26:44Speaker 1: You dubbed faithful buyer Murphy coming down from his position
- 26:47Speaker 1: in the secondary. He's got one on one. They're gonna
- 26:50Speaker 1: meet up. And almost honestly, this is what dbs and
- 26:55Speaker 1: receivers do. Mainly dbs and like individual period angle tackle
- 26:58Speaker 1: Joe right right, this is legit him at angle tackle.
- 27:01Speaker 1: But when you're going against Ken Walker and you don't
- 27:03Speaker 1: have the cone on the sideline to save you, this
- 27:05Speaker 1: is what it looks like because he did that hop
- 27:07Speaker 1: skip and a jump and Byron didn't know what was
- 27:10Speaker 1: going on. He he looks like he's closing the gap
- 27:12Speaker 1: and then he kind of gets frozen a little bit
- 27:14Speaker 1: and the stiff arm. He didn't know what happens. And
- 27:16Speaker 1: you look at it and you go, man, my man
- 27:18Speaker 1: was in great position. I don't think he touches him up.
- 27:21Speaker 1: I don't think I don't think he lays one hand
- 27:23Speaker 1: on him after all that. So, Ken Walker, you're about
- 27:25Speaker 1: to be something special, dude, and we're gonna loved watching
- 27:28Speaker 1: you play, you know, getting your feet wet. And what
- 27:31Speaker 1: I loved about it too is bump here twenty one
- 27:33Speaker 1: carry though, yeah, handled it, handled it, and it's one
- 27:36Speaker 1: of those things where we're not we're not worried about
- 27:38Speaker 1: his carry count and stuff like that. So it's a big,
- 27:41Speaker 1: you know sign. I think from the coaches staff and
- 27:43Speaker 1: Jane Wald and p Carroll were like, yo, it's your
- 27:45Speaker 1: time now. That's why we're drafting your second round. We're
- 27:47Speaker 1: gonna ride you to the end. So love to see
- 27:49Speaker 1: that from young boy Ken. But you know what we
- 27:52Speaker 1: do bump every week when we get this w let's
- 27:54Speaker 1: getting that formation. Baby, here comes the Seahawk offense on
- 27:59Speaker 1: the field and the Vikings defense crunching out there knowing
- 28:04Speaker 1: that one kneel down and the Seahawks are gonna wind
- 28:08Speaker 1: the clock down and women's one. It's the victory formation
- 28:11Speaker 1: on Hawk Talk. The greatest victory known No excuses me.
- 28:15Speaker 1: The greatest formation known to man is the victory formation.
- 28:19Speaker 1: And this is how they did it. The defense did
- 28:22Speaker 1: show up in a big way. Man eleven Drives only
- 28:26Speaker 1: gave up three points. Extremely impressive, Like this defense gave
- 28:30Speaker 1: up like thirty something, folty something, twenty something, and now
- 28:33Speaker 1: they hold them to three against an explosive offense. Is
- 28:37Speaker 1: not like Kyler Murray can't just put up fourteen to
- 28:39Speaker 1: twenty one on his own. Like he didn't do that.
- 28:42Speaker 1: They held him down and he was sacked six times
- 28:44Speaker 1: from six different guys. Started with the defense. Defense balls
- 28:48Speaker 1: that loved to see what they did. Most impressive performance
- 28:51Speaker 1: this season dating back to Denver game. So love it.
- 28:53Speaker 1: See it there and stand on defense. Man. These rookies
- 28:56Speaker 1: man Treek will and fourth kentsecutive interception, Kobe another force fumble.
- 29:01Speaker 1: They're playing with such confidence over there right now, and
- 29:03Speaker 1: this guy's the limit, honestly, because right now, these guys
- 29:07Speaker 1: are carrying us right now from from a rookie standpoint
- 29:09Speaker 1: to have Abe Lucas, ken Walker, Charles Cross, Kobe Bryant,
- 29:13Speaker 1: Tariq Will and boy A Mothe started and played well.
- 29:16Speaker 1: So these rookies, this rookie class, it's early on. You know,
- 29:19Speaker 1: This twenty twelve class would argue is the best rookie
- 29:22Speaker 1: class in the history of the Seattle Seahawks, given the
- 29:25Speaker 1: men that were drafted there in the Hall of Famers
- 29:27Speaker 1: that they come from there. But as right now, this
- 29:29Speaker 1: is the best rookie class I've seen because they're all
- 29:31Speaker 1: making an impact that keep positions right now. So love
- 29:33Speaker 1: to see what we saw from them. Yep, Kobe kin
- 29:38Speaker 1: Walker to rookie tackles over there, it looks good. Man
- 29:41Speaker 1: in Boston Portland, they get that game. You're still in
- 29:45Speaker 1: the division race like this NFC West two years ago. Man,
- 29:49Speaker 1: if you were three three, you'd be out this day
- 29:51Speaker 1: pretty early. Yeah, right now because of the craziness that's
- 29:54Speaker 1: going on. Man, they are still in the fight, man,
- 29:57Speaker 1: and they show that they can win a game without
- 29:59Speaker 1: dominant ending on offense. And in this league, you're gonna
- 30:02Speaker 1: have to win in multiple ways, so good for the
- 30:04Speaker 1: defense again, huge, huge on the defense. I'm hoping, like
- 30:08Speaker 1: Ray said, we talked to him earlier, this is a
- 30:09Speaker 1: confidence builder. It's gonna be a tough one against the Chargers.
- 30:12Speaker 1: You mentioned all the playmakers. They got Herbert Keenan Allen,
- 30:15Speaker 1: potentially Williams Eckler. They got a good defense, Khalil Mack
- 30:19Speaker 1: defensive mining coach, and Joe S. Dailey. So it'll be
- 30:21Speaker 1: it'll be interesting to see what we have there. But
- 30:23Speaker 1: we'll break that all down for you on Wednesday. Reminder,
- 30:26Speaker 1: you can listen to us anywhere. Lots of great content
