- 0:29What is going on, everybody?
- 0:30Welcome to the Clydesdale
- 0:31Meteor Roundtable.
- 0:33It's a roundtable of two today.
- 0:35What's going on, Amy?
- 0:36Not much.
- 0:37Not much, not much.
- 0:40I know this is your busy time of the year.
- 0:41It is.
- 0:42Are you working out soon?
- 0:44I am.
- 0:44I was going to take a rest day today,
- 0:46and then my son said
- 0:49today's workout is a partner one.
- 0:50Sorry.
- 0:53So we are going to go and do the workout.
- 0:56And then I'm going to finish
- 0:59off with some more
- 1:00parent-teacher conferences
- 1:01and get ready for the weekend.
- 1:03There you go.
- 1:05Yeah.
- 1:06How is the training going into the open?
- 1:09It's going good.
- 1:11You know,
- 1:11we've changed a lot of our
- 1:13programming to more in-house programming,
- 1:15which I'm a huge fan of
- 1:18because I feel like with
- 1:20the program we were doing before,
- 1:21we were getting –
- 1:23we were over, um, volume and not as,
- 1:28I don't know.
- 1:32We,
- 1:32we were more so hyper-focused on
- 1:34certain movements and
- 1:35missing a lot of variety.
- 1:37So I feel like there's a lot
- 1:38more variety and overall
- 1:39fitness that's happening now.
- 1:41Um, and feeling good about that.
- 1:45So.
- 1:47Yeah,
- 1:47I've had a fundamental issue with
- 1:51paid for programming for a while.
- 1:53And not that like, like, I get it.
- 1:55It's a huge,
- 1:57like lift off of the gym owner
- 2:00to do that.
- 2:01But like,
- 2:04ninety percent of us are not
- 2:05competitive athletes.
- 2:06Right.
- 2:07And there should be like a
- 2:09fun aspect to this.
- 2:11Like fitness should be fun.
- 2:13Yep.
- 2:15And I think that we at times
- 2:18have lost that along the way.
- 2:19Mm-hmm.
- 2:21Yeah, I was dreading certain days.
- 2:24I'm not a cherry picker in
- 2:25general because I'd like to
- 2:28have overall fitness,
- 2:29but it was to the point
- 2:30where I was feeling like I
- 2:32don't need to do wall balls
- 2:34every Wednesday.
- 2:35Wall balls and burpees every
- 2:36Wednesday doesn't make sense to me when I,
- 2:38guess what,
- 2:39I haven't touched the GHD for
- 2:40six weeks or I haven't done
- 2:43pistol squats or split jerks.
- 2:45I feel like those things
- 2:46need to be intermixed.
- 2:47You can definitely have
- 2:49some kind of goal and kind
- 2:51of strength cycle and all that, you know,
- 2:53integrated in there,
- 2:54but also having a variety
- 2:56of movements and it, you know,
- 2:59keeps it exciting.
- 3:02Yeah, I mean,
- 3:03one thing I always applauded
- 3:04you as a coach is you found
- 3:06fun ways to warm up where
- 3:08it would be a game or a
- 3:10sport or whatever we were doing.
- 3:13Anything to bring fun to fitness, I think,
- 3:16helps retention of athletes,
- 3:20makes athletes want to be there.
- 3:23And that is what the overall goal is,
- 3:25right?
- 3:26Yeah,
- 3:26especially if you have athletes
- 3:28waking up to come work out at five a.m.,
- 3:31Like you gotta bring,
- 3:33you gotta bring it as a coach or, I mean,
- 3:37if I was just there like, oh guys,
- 3:39I'm so tired.
- 3:40I don't know how we're gonna, like,
- 3:42that's not what you wanna sign up for.
- 3:44You need somebody to bring the vibe.
- 3:46like I remember back to the
- 3:47early days when we shared
- 3:48our gym with the volleyball
- 3:50center and we would play
- 3:51Hoover ball to warm up.
- 3:53I love those days.
- 3:54Like I loved playing Hoover ball.
- 3:57Yeah.
- 3:59And I miss that.
- 4:00Like, I think that is just really,
- 4:02really awesome.
- 4:03One thing my gym did in January,
- 4:06and I don't know if I
- 4:07talked about it with you or with Kat,
- 4:11but we had blackout January and,
- 4:14You couldn't see what the workouts were?
- 4:16Nope.
- 4:17Oh, I like that.
- 4:19Yeah.
- 4:20Yep.
- 4:21They did not put them into
- 4:22Wattify until eight o'clock
- 4:24at the end of the day of
- 4:28the day you did it.
- 4:29Yeah.
- 4:32So it was interesting.
- 4:35Yeah.
- 4:37It creates some anxiety with some people,
- 4:38but...
- 4:40I mean, that was back how it used to be.
- 4:41You would show up and the
- 4:42coach would write it on the
- 4:43whiteboard and you were like, okay,
- 4:45that's what we're doing today.
- 4:46Like, and then,
- 4:47then it started to be like
- 4:48your friends would text you
- 4:50who were coming later.
- 4:51Like what's the workout today?
- 4:52Yep.
- 4:54You're like, I don't know.
- 4:54You have to wait till you
- 4:55see it on the whiteboard.
- 4:57The one thing that was funny is my,
- 4:59my duffel bag or backpack got fuller.
- 5:03Cause you,
- 5:04when you don't know what's coming,
- 5:06you're packing my jump rope,
- 5:07better pack my wrist straps, better pack.
- 5:10And I've really cut down on
- 5:11like that extra equipment, but you do,
- 5:14you have to have everything.
- 5:16Yeah.
- 5:16Yeah.
- 5:19That's that's so true.
- 5:22Like,
- 5:22I don't think I haven't worn lifters
- 5:25in seven or eight years.
- 5:26I only use them on certain movements.
- 5:33I used them recently on
- 5:34pistols because I hadn't
- 5:35done pistols for like two
- 5:36years and we you know
- 5:39started programming them in
- 5:41and I you know needed a
- 5:44little bit of extra support
- 5:46and I've abled in order to
- 5:47be able to do them yeah
- 5:49pistols were never in my
- 5:51forte so so that my file
- 5:53cabinets I don't have to
- 5:54worry about that and I have
- 5:55enough ankle mobility for squatting that
- 5:59like even heavy lifts like
- 6:02and I try not to go super
- 6:03heavy anymore but even
- 6:04heavy lifts I I just wear
- 6:07regular Metcons or whatever
- 6:10so so yeah well cool uh one
- 6:16thing I did want to clear
- 6:17up today not clear up one
- 6:21thing I wanted to expand on
- 6:24is I've made some comments
- 6:25about the Annie comments
- 6:26from the Buttery Bros video
- 6:28over the last few days that
- 6:30has garnered a lot of
- 6:32comments on YouTube and such.
- 6:37And all I was saying is that
- 6:38I just wanted to understand the why.
- 6:41Well, yesterday or this morning,
- 6:43Annie did share the why.
- 6:46And I know it's not about me.
- 6:49I'm just a puny guy in Ohio.
- 6:52But I'm going to share that real quick.
- 6:56um she did share why she is
- 6:59not doing the open and this
- 7:00will be the first time I
- 7:03will not be and we don't
- 7:05it's a it's a long long
- 7:06video but she essentially
- 7:09says that um she has had
- 7:12experiences at the games
- 7:14where she has felt in
- 7:15danger and that they have
- 7:17always been there to save her
- 7:20She's always trusted it.
- 7:22And then this last games
- 7:23that didn't happen and
- 7:25changes needed to be made.
- 7:27And she goes through the
- 7:27changes that have happened with CrossFit.
- 7:30And she is taking a wait and
- 7:32see approach rather than
- 7:34believing that those are
- 7:39the things that will change the sport.
- 7:42They've had athlete councils
- 7:44in the past that did nothing.
- 7:47Now we have a new athlete council.
- 7:48Is this one going to have any input?
- 7:51An in-house one that she is not a fan of.
- 7:55Well,
- 7:55she doesn't say she's not a fan of it.
- 7:57She just,
- 7:57because she was part of the
- 7:58original athlete council.
- 8:01She says she's a third party.
- 8:02Right.
- 8:06She does not go into any of
- 8:07the PFAA stuff in this.
- 8:08Correct.
- 8:08Correct.
- 8:10But she does say that the
- 8:13last one didn't have any power.
- 8:15She wants to see how this one comes out.
- 8:18The safety council,
- 8:19she likes some of the people on it,
- 8:21but are they going to have
- 8:23say enough to make changes
- 8:26that she then can trust
- 8:29things to go forward?
- 8:30So I applaud her for doing this.
- 8:32She has one point three million followers.
- 8:35I believe that they deserve
- 8:36the right to know the why.
- 8:39She gave the why.
- 8:40I'm cool with everything now.
- 8:42It's her choice to do or do
- 8:44not do the open.
- 8:45And she doesn't owe us anything.
- 8:48This contingent that thinks
- 8:50because she's made all of
- 8:52her money doing CrossFit,
- 8:53she has to do it forever.
- 8:55No, she doesn't.
- 8:56She just followed the rules of the game.
- 8:58And she can do whatever she
- 9:00wants this year.
- 9:02And she does say that she
- 9:03supports her community.
- 9:04She supports CrossFit.
- 9:06She is not supporting HQ.
- 9:12Yeah.
- 9:14So I think that is a
- 9:19delicate balance to say,
- 9:22but I hope that CrossFit
- 9:27does prove to her that
- 9:29these new things are going
- 9:30to be taken seriously and
- 9:32not just be a Band-Aid over a problem.
- 9:40Yeah.
- 9:40I think a lot of people in
- 9:42myself included might worry
- 9:45that there people will just
- 9:48kind of move on and not keep,
- 9:51you know what I mean?
- 9:51Like kind of brushing it under like, okay,
- 9:53well that was overlooked.
- 9:55Hopefully nobody brings anything up.
- 9:56Let's just keep moving forward.
- 9:57I think people are,
- 9:58do you have a fear of that?
- 10:01Yeah.
- 10:03I, I, the thing that at the end of the day,
- 10:05this is a sport.
- 10:07things happen in sports.
- 10:09I mentioned last week that
- 10:11in my swimming podcast that I watch, uh,
- 10:13Brooke Wells was on it, uh,
- 10:15which was wild.
- 10:17Um, but they, they've lost swimmers in,
- 10:21in events over the years
- 10:23that were world-class and
- 10:26just got into a situation
- 10:27where they ended up
- 10:29drowning and it's a sport.
- 10:32You, you have to move on.
- 10:33Things are going to happen in sport.
- 10:35Um,
- 10:37not to belittle what
- 10:39happened at the games last year at all.
- 10:42But if you look across the
- 10:45board at all sports,
- 10:46there is death everywhere.
- 10:49And those sports have not
- 10:51closed shop because of them.
- 10:53They keep moving forward.
- 10:56They usually honor the person and do that.
- 10:58But what upset me most about
- 11:00the whole thing is the
- 11:02amount of people that
- 11:03wanted me to stop saying
- 11:05anything about it.
- 11:06I think on this podcast we
- 11:07have promoted that no
- 11:09matter what your viewpoint is,
- 11:11you have a place to say it.
- 11:13We pull up comments,
- 11:14whether we agree with them or not.
- 11:17And I like having open discussion.
- 11:20I think as adults,
- 11:22that's what makes the world go round,
- 11:24is that not everybody is
- 11:25going to believe everything
- 11:27at the same time, in the same way,
- 11:30and that we can have adult
- 11:32conversations about that.
- 11:35And I know some of my
- 11:36friends do not agree with
- 11:38the way I'm looking at this situation,
- 11:40and it's okay.
- 11:42They're still my friends,
- 11:43and I would love to talk to
- 11:44them about it and
- 11:45understand their viewpoint better.
- 11:50That's all.
- 11:51Yeah.
- 11:53And to say in a comment that
- 11:56I need to stop bringing it up,
- 11:58it's a podcast.
- 11:59That's what we do.
- 12:00It's kind of the format.
- 12:03Yeah.
- 12:04you know,
- 12:04so the goal is to talk about
- 12:06stuff that's happening.
- 12:11Uh,
- 12:12Corey Leonard says maybe adult
- 12:13beverages as well.
- 12:15Yeah.
- 12:15I have really cut out those
- 12:18in my life for the most part.
- 12:20Um, but sure.
- 12:21I'm,
- 12:22I encourage it if that's something you
- 12:24like to do.
- 12:25See, we can disagree and still get along.
- 12:28Um,
- 12:34thought it was interesting
- 12:35she said she has respect
- 12:37for some of the people on
- 12:38the council I hope she
- 12:39meant that because there
- 12:40are some that she doesn't
- 12:41know that just stuck out to
- 12:43me I will take I will go
- 12:46with that benefit of the
- 12:47doubt as well um the other
- 12:54thing I wanted to talk about is
- 12:57is kind of in that same vein
- 12:59with everything that's
- 13:00happened and the low
- 13:01turnout for the open thus far.
- 13:04Do you think we have hit a point where, uh,
- 13:07CrossFit is in jeopardy of, um,
- 13:11going away or becoming even
- 13:13more niche than it was before?
- 13:17Do I think CrossFit is in
- 13:18danger of going away?
- 13:21Yeah.
- 13:22The games like the sport or you mean,
- 13:26The sport.
- 13:27I don't think the
- 13:28methodology is going anywhere.
- 13:29No, I don't think so either.
- 13:34I think, I don't know.
- 13:39I kind of do.
- 13:40I kind of do think it's going away.
- 13:45In some sense, you know,
- 13:46I know we've talked about this before,
- 13:47like with all the high rock stuff,
- 13:49you know, high rocks is an event.
- 13:51I think it's an event that
- 13:53CrossFit athletes can
- 13:54attend as well as other, you know,
- 13:56endurance athletes and that
- 13:59kind of thing.
- 13:59But I don't know.
- 14:02I mean, I love the sport of CrossFit,
- 14:04but I don't know.
- 14:10Yeah, it's a sport I love and I hate,
- 14:13but I think the division
- 14:14right now is not helping.
- 14:16And the more divided in any
- 14:18sport you become,
- 14:20the more likely the sport could be.
- 14:25And I don't think it'll ever go away,
- 14:27but I think it will.
- 14:29The idea of making three
- 14:31hundred grand at the games
- 14:32will not be in the future.
- 14:37I think it's going to be like ESPN,
- 14:40the Ocho on with cornhole and darts and,
- 14:47you know, prize purse.
- 14:48Yeah.
- 14:49Maybe in the thirty thousand
- 14:50range instead of three
- 14:51hundred thousand dollar range.
- 14:57So that's my biggest fear.
- 14:59I did laugh at the Instagram
- 15:01reel that James Sprague made.
- 15:03Did you see it about hello
- 15:05from the other side?
- 15:08I did not see that.
- 15:09No.
- 15:09Okay.
- 15:09So it was the adult song
- 15:10like hello from the other side.
- 15:12And he's just turning his
- 15:13bracelet and it says high rocks on it.
- 15:17Sorry.
- 15:19But then he made it to the world.
- 15:23He did.
- 15:24Yeah.
- 15:24So the kid is getting really, really fit.
- 15:28He is.
- 15:30He's not even a kid anymore.
- 15:32I know we want to call him that, but
- 15:35CrossFit says, coming up after bowling,
- 15:37the fittest man competes in Springfield,
- 15:39Illinois.
- 15:42I don't, I think that is possible,
- 15:44for sure.
- 15:46The other CrossFit thing of note, I think,
- 15:49to bring up is that Laura
- 15:51and Adler signed for the
- 15:53World Fitness Project.
- 15:55They did.
- 15:55Let me get this one comment,
- 15:56and then we'll talk about that.
- 15:58For me, crossfit was never a sport.
- 16:00The fact that media has
- 16:01moved away from the
- 16:01affiliates over the years was a shame,
- 16:04but it's made the
- 16:06affiliates independent from the games.
- 16:07Now only the game suffers.
- 16:11Yeah.
- 16:12Yeah.
- 16:13To me, anything's a sport.
- 16:15When I was playing lawn charts as a kid,
- 16:17I made it a sport.
- 16:18A competition.
- 16:19Yeah.
- 16:21Yeah.
- 16:21So I think it's just
- 16:23semantics of whether we
- 16:25call it a sport or not.
- 16:27But, yeah,
- 16:29I think that the media has
- 16:35played a major role.
- 16:37When the media team was let go,
- 16:40there was no plan B,
- 16:42and affiliates didn't get any love,
- 16:45athletes didn't get any love, and, yeah,
- 16:48crazy.
- 16:52Corey Leonard turns out to
- 16:53spray guys pretty fit.
- 16:55Who knew?
- 16:56Yeah.
- 16:57So WFP signed their final
- 17:00athletes and closed their rosters.
- 17:03Laura was the final female.
- 17:05Jeff Adler was the final male,
- 17:07but for Adler to fit Saxon
- 17:10Pancheck took a different
- 17:11role with the company.
- 17:13So he is now working for the
- 17:15company and not being an athlete.
- 17:19Yeah.
- 17:20um so that it's going to be
- 17:21interesting to know what
- 17:22that means um and used to
- 17:32tell my stuff polo lawn
- 17:34darts yeah you know it but
- 17:37I mean uh pancheck and will
- 17:39that doesn't surprise me
- 17:40pancheck and will were
- 17:42training together they were
- 17:43training buddies they've
- 17:45spent a lot of time together so that
- 17:48I'm not totally shocked by that.
- 17:53Isn't Saxon also on the
- 17:54athlete council for CrossFit?
- 17:56That is a, a misnomer.
- 17:59I know that was reported on dense updates.
- 18:01Spencer Pancheck is on the
- 18:03athlete athlete council.
- 18:05Saxon is not.
- 18:07So Spencer's on the athlete council.
- 18:10Saxon is on the WFP leadership,
- 18:14whatever he's doing there.
- 18:24so yes a lot of pan checks
- 18:29and two of them look the
- 18:30same yep identical in fact
- 18:33yeah I mean it does make it
- 18:35confusing so um now that my
- 18:40project's over I'm gonna I
- 18:41would actually intend to
- 18:42reach out to saxon uh and
- 18:44have him on and talk about that um
- 18:48Might even have Spencer on, too,
- 18:49to talk about the Athlete Council.
- 18:51They've had their first meeting,
- 18:53so it'll be interesting to see that.
- 18:56And hopefully not everybody's confused.
- 19:02They did.
- 19:03They fell off a cliff.
- 19:06they fell off a mountain in
- 19:07john young's mountain um
- 19:09they did fall off a cliff
- 19:10in a mountain when they
- 19:11were young and john young
- 19:13hates saxon pancheck uh him
- 19:15and I have been going back
- 19:16and forth on this forever
- 19:20Well,
- 19:21I said that Saxon Pancheck would do
- 19:22well at one of the semifinals.
- 19:25And he went off on me about saying that,
- 19:29that there's no chance.
- 19:31So there's been this like
- 19:32back and forth about Saxon Pancheck.
- 19:33Okay.
- 19:36Me being in Saxon's corner and him not.
- 19:42Got it.
- 19:45So, so yeah.
- 19:45So I think the biggest news
- 19:47out of the WFP is no Tia.
- 19:52Yeah, and you've got to wonder,
- 19:58her and Will also trained together,
- 20:00right?
- 20:02Yeah,
- 20:02but Will left them a year prior to this.
- 20:05Right.
- 20:07I wonder if there's some bad taste there.
- 20:12I almost wonder,
- 20:13is it going to be like
- 20:14Broken Skull Ranch?
- 20:15Like, if you're the champ,
- 20:18you just wait until the end of the year,
- 20:20and then whoever wins...
- 20:23the finals gets to take Tia on one-on-one.
- 20:27I mean,
- 20:27that would be something male or female,
- 20:29just whoever it is takes,
- 20:31just sits on a throne during the finals.
- 20:36And when it's all done, you win,
- 20:38you get to go take on Tia.
- 20:39Wow.
- 20:39Okay.
- 20:48uh I don't know isn't tia
- 20:50focused on high rocks uh I
- 20:53have no idea um I know she
- 20:56did a t uh high rocks dual
- 20:58event with james newberry
- 21:00in australia but I have no
- 21:02idea and we saw that um
- 21:06sammy which I didn't know
- 21:08was having another baby she
- 21:11she also just did um high rocks
- 21:16I think a lot of people are doing them.
- 21:18I don't think that means
- 21:19they're switching over to it.
- 21:20Yeah, agreed.
- 21:20Agreed for sure.
- 21:28Will left when Brooke busted
- 21:30her feet and Saxon busted
- 21:32his feet or whatever and
- 21:34wonder if they harbor any resentment.
- 21:37I don't know because Will
- 21:40and Brooke and Saxon are tight.
- 21:41Yeah.
- 21:44All three of them.
- 21:49Where's Brooke now that I forget?
- 21:52She's HWPO,
- 21:52but she's also working out with J.R.
- 21:55Howe at CrossFit Crash.
- 21:56Okay.
- 21:57But he says he's not her coach,
- 21:59but he says that about Jason Hopper,
- 22:02which he has been his coach.
- 22:04So who knows?
- 22:05Got it.
- 22:05Okay.
- 22:07What was interesting on that podcast,
- 22:09that swimming podcast,
- 22:10is Brooke is like pretty much saying,
- 22:13I'm at the end of my career
- 22:14and I just want to have fun now.
- 22:16Like I don't want to put all
- 22:17the pressure on myself.
- 22:19JRPF.
- 22:20At a higher level.
- 22:30D. Reed says there are two issues.
- 22:32HQ and ability to be
- 22:33consistent and unlikable
- 22:34nature of number of athletes.
- 22:37I'll go with you big time on
- 22:39the first one.
- 22:40I think HQ's inability to be
- 22:42consistent with a season
- 22:43that is understandable and
- 22:46able to follow and tell
- 22:47your friends about has been
- 22:49a major component to
- 22:51CrossFit not growing more.
- 22:55don't know about the athlete
- 22:56thing um and maybe that's
- 22:58because I've met a lot of
- 22:59them in person and I think
- 23:02a lot of them are super
- 23:03nice and very cordial there
- 23:05are a few that I do not
- 23:07think that about but I'll
- 23:09reserve that to my own mind
- 23:10but most of them the
- 23:12majority of the athletes
- 23:13are very friendly um
- 23:28Athletes really struggle to
- 23:29seem approachable lately or relatable.
- 23:33I really don't... I don't
- 23:36see... Maybe that's their
- 23:38Instagram look or their documentary look.
- 23:41I don't know.
- 23:43They've all been very
- 23:44approachable to me the
- 23:46whole time we've been doing
- 23:47this media thing.
- 23:49We've been...
- 23:51I mean,
- 23:51we've interacted with athletes at
- 23:52the games, at semifinals,
- 23:55pretty much wherever they are.
- 23:57And most of them do not come
- 24:02across entitled.
- 24:03I am not saying that is a hundred percent.
- 24:05There are some that
- 24:06definitely do come across entitled.
- 24:12But most of them are very
- 24:13just appreciative of everything and the,
- 24:16and the fans and everyone.
- 24:20I may be media, but I am not big media.
- 24:23Nobody really cares about me.
- 24:25And I do get to see them
- 24:28backstage where they,
- 24:31and I was a volunteer for
- 24:32many years before that,
- 24:34where you get to see them
- 24:35and how they act in their
- 24:38natural environment.
- 24:42I wouldn't say it's their
- 24:42natural environment.
- 24:44That's a competitive environment.
- 24:45Okay.
- 24:45But I know what you're saying.
- 24:53You know what I mean?
- 24:53Like if we ran into them at
- 24:55a hotel after the games or something,
- 24:59I think those are the moments.
- 25:00Like I know Kat has talked about, you know,
- 25:02going to the airport and
- 25:05talking with a lot of athletes there,
- 25:06like after the games and
- 25:07how personable and
- 25:09talkative and things like
- 25:10that they were without her
- 25:12talking about being
- 25:14anything as far as media,
- 25:15but just as a fellow CrossFit athlete.
- 25:19When we know there ain't no
- 25:21Yonikoski like a drunk Yonikoski.
- 25:23I mean, that is true.
- 25:24I mean, he is a good time.
- 25:26After the games when it's on, Yonikoski.
- 25:30Yeah.
- 25:31Drunk Yonikoski is the best Yonikoski.
- 25:34Yeah.
- 25:42uh, Andrew Stan, I agree with Scott.
- 25:44Most are very approachable,
- 25:46but some aren't,
- 25:47but you also have to look
- 25:48at the setting and what is
- 25:49happening at that moment.
- 25:50Yep.
- 25:53And,
- 25:54and it's very different if you go to
- 25:56crash or Metcon rush and
- 25:59see them there as opposed to, um,
- 26:04fighting for a game spot at
- 26:06the syndicate crown or at the games, um,
- 26:12You know,
- 26:13it's different at the semifinal
- 26:15on Friday than it is on Sunday.
- 26:18You know, it just is.
- 26:27I ran into Emma Lawson at
- 26:29the Austin airport.
- 26:31Often rogue.
- 26:33I'm just wearing rogue.
- 26:36And she approached me
- 26:36because I was wearing a rogue hoodie.
- 26:38Yeah.
- 26:38After rogue.
- 26:39After rogue, I bet.
- 26:46um so yeah yeah and and my
- 26:52favorite group of athletes
- 26:54the masters they're all
- 26:56approachable except for
- 26:57like one or two of them um
- 27:01they're willing to hang out
- 27:02right after an event all
- 27:03steady and whatever like
- 27:06they're just looking for
- 27:07the love for sure
- 27:10Well, and also, I mean, they,
- 27:12most of the masters
- 27:13athletes are not doing this
- 27:15as their career.
- 27:17They have a career and are, so they're,
- 27:19I think that makes them
- 27:20more relatable to us too.
- 27:23You know, so.
- 27:29Uh,
- 27:29CrossFit all approach a master's muscle
- 27:31mommy any day.
- 27:33Yeah.
- 27:35Joke.
- 27:36Not, not really a joke.
- 27:41what these Masters athletes
- 27:42do with everything going on
- 27:45and man their physiques are
- 27:50freaking phenomenal it is
- 27:53amazing what they do later
- 27:58in life I look up to them
- 28:01so much for sure but yeah
- 28:08So we have that.
- 28:10We have World Fitness Project.
- 28:13It's going to be interesting
- 28:14to see if there's like any fans,
- 28:19how the fans come out to
- 28:20the in-person semis,
- 28:21how the fans come out to
- 28:23the World Fitness Project,
- 28:25what that looks like at both places.
- 28:28I did talk to Wilson Park yesterday.
- 28:31after posting that their
- 28:32spectator seats coming out
- 28:34for Syndicate Crown are coming out soon.
- 28:38Okay.
- 28:40In Knoxville,
- 28:41they are doing a big
- 28:42community event outside
- 28:44like they did last year
- 28:45where you can get a team together,
- 28:48compete that weekend.
- 28:50Competing in that event gets
- 28:52you a free ticket for the weekend.
- 28:53Yeah.
- 28:55That's cool.
- 28:56So it's a cool way and you
- 28:57do it out on like the plaza.
- 29:00If you've never been to Knoxville,
- 29:02you enter at the top of the
- 29:03arena and then you walk
- 29:05down to your seat at the
- 29:07top where you come in out
- 29:09before you come in.
- 29:10It's a big plaza and they do,
- 29:13they have a rig outside and
- 29:15there's a big community
- 29:16event out there inside of vendor village.
- 29:19That's really cool.
- 29:21And they do an awesome job with that.
- 29:24So if you are interested in
- 29:25going to Knoxville,
- 29:27sign up for a team or get a
- 29:29spectator seat.
- 29:31And it's really cool because
- 29:32you are elevated above the floor,
- 29:34making it very easy to
- 29:36watch all the events.
- 29:39And it's probably going to
- 29:40be a lot cheaper than the Mayhem Classic.
- 29:43Yeah.
- 29:43Oh, yeah.
- 29:46That is going to be a
- 29:46boutique event where
- 29:48there's probably going to
- 29:49be a few hundred people
- 29:51allowed to buy tickets.
- 29:53When I went down for the
- 29:54first Mayhem Classic,
- 29:56I think seats were reserved
- 29:58for five hundred people and
- 30:01it was about five hundred dollar tickets.
- 30:06Um, it was one,
- 30:07it was the best comp I've ever been to,
- 30:09um, because of the way it was laid out.
- 30:12Very easy to follow,
- 30:14but it is going to be a
- 30:15boutique event and very hard to get in.
- 30:21Yeah.
- 30:21Where Knoxville will be very
- 30:23easy to get in.
- 30:24Um, and they have a lot of stuff going on.
- 30:30So scout this ticket.
- 30:35Yeah.
- 30:36problem is when you scalp
- 30:37you may have to pay more.
- 30:42Just saying.
- 30:48Neither have a phenomenal airport.
- 30:50That is true.
- 30:51If you go to mayhem,
- 30:52you pretty much have to fly
- 30:53into Nashville.
- 30:54Yes.
- 30:56That's true.
- 30:57But and then it's like two
- 30:57hours from there.
- 31:00right I think an hour an
- 31:03hour and it's another hour
- 31:04and a half to knoxville so
- 31:07mayhem's kind of in the
- 31:08middle of knack nashville
- 31:09and knoxville but
- 31:13knoxville's airport is not
- 31:14great not good prices yeah
- 31:19but it's a great location
- 31:21great arena cool community
- 31:24event cool vendor village um
- 31:28It'll be interesting to see.
- 31:30And Mayhem's, like, stacked.
- 31:33And only two people are
- 31:34getting their tickets to the games,
- 31:36which is going to be crazy.
- 31:39Yeah,
- 31:43that's... The people they've already
- 31:45announced is insane.
- 31:49When is it?
- 31:50What month is it?
- 31:52Mayhem is the first in-person semi,
- 31:54so it is in the beginning of April.
- 31:56Okay, okay.
- 31:58The first weekend in April, I think.
- 32:00And then Knoxville is late.
- 32:05Is May, maybe?
- 32:06Later May?
- 32:08I'd have to look.
- 32:10I'm with Andrew.
- 32:12Glad I can drive to both.
- 32:16The bad thing about driving
- 32:17to Mayhem is Cookville is
- 32:19not a straight line from Cincinnati.
- 32:23To go straight line,
- 32:24you have to go on two-lane
- 32:25roads for most of the trip.
- 32:28Where Knoxville,
- 32:29you can go seventy five the whole way.
- 32:34Which isn't bad.
- 32:39So but I'm most looking
- 32:40forward to the Masters
- 32:42games here in Columbus
- 32:43where I'm holding a
- 32:44barbecue for we're going to have a party.
- 32:50Yeah, party.
- 32:55All right.
- 32:56Bucky's on the way.
- 32:58Have you ever been to a Bucky's?
- 32:59I haven't, but I know about that.
- 33:02There was this kid at school
- 33:03the other day that had a
- 33:04little Bucky's key chain.
- 33:05And I was like,
- 33:06have you been to Bucky's before?
- 33:07And she's like, yes, I love it.
- 33:11It is.
- 33:12It is a miracle.
- 33:13Like, I don't even know how they exist.
- 33:17It is insanity.
- 33:19Julie and I went to one in Alabama and I,
- 33:21every time I see one now I'll go.
- 33:25It's like an amusement park
- 33:27in the middle of the freeway.
- 33:28Yeah.
- 33:31And the food is awesome.
- 33:34So with that, yes, it is century overload.
- 33:39With that, it is lunch hours over.
- 33:43We need to get back to work.
- 33:45So all you hooligans, get back to work.
- 33:47We'll see you next time on
- 33:50the Clydesdale Media Roundtable.
- 33:52Bye, guys.
- 33:52Peace out.
