- 0:00Speaker 1: And the Cracking power playload.
- 0:02Speaker 2: This is the k Postgame Show, brought to you by
- 0:06Speaker 2: Toyota of Olympia.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Now for an in depth look at your Kraken Hockey.
- 0:10Speaker 2: It's the post Game on the Global Credit Union Kraken
- 0:14Speaker 2: Audio Network.
- 0:16Speaker 3: For the final time tonight and welcome back inside of
- 0:19Speaker 3: Climate Pledge Arena alongside Al Koniski Ever fits you with you.
- 0:22Speaker 3: Cracking fall to five hundred and twelve twelve and six
- 0:25Speaker 3: following a three to one loss to the Buffalo Sabers
- 0:28Speaker 3: and partner again, I mean, I know, we're tired of
- 0:32Speaker 3: saying it, We're tired of hearing it. Another really good
- 0:35Speaker 3: effort by the Crack and it was a sixty minute,
- 0:38Speaker 3: two point worthy effort, but once again the results not
- 0:42Speaker 3: their great goaltending performance from Alex Lion Zoey Decord as
- 0:46Speaker 3: well made the saves he needed to make. It was
- 0:49Speaker 3: a good game in the physicality department, Jacob Alanson I thought,
- 0:54Speaker 3: was I mean, probably the most noticeable player on the
- 0:57Speaker 3: ice here tonight for the Kracking at the end of
- 0:59Speaker 3: the day. Not enough and they fall one, seven and
- 1:03Speaker 3: one now in their last night.
- 1:05Speaker 4: Well, the Buffalo Sabers coming in here with a dash
- 1:07Speaker 4: twenty five differential on the road at even strength. Showed
- 1:11Speaker 4: tonight that they can score at even strength, putting both
- 1:14Speaker 4: goals in even Strengthen, the krakens only goal was the
- 1:16Speaker 4: power play goals, so Kracking ended up doing one for
- 1:19Speaker 4: three on their power play, not too bad, and going
- 1:22Speaker 4: perfect on the penalty kill. This game was won and
- 1:24Speaker 4: lost at even strength, which is not what I expected
- 1:27Speaker 4: here today.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Well, and it was a really good goaltending performance. After
- 1:30Speaker 3: being out shot nine to three in the first period,
- 1:32Speaker 3: the Kraken had a plus seven shot differential twenty one
- 1:36Speaker 3: to fourteen the rest of the way, eleven to seven
- 1:39Speaker 3: in the second, ten to seven in the third, and
- 1:42Speaker 3: a number of those were high danger grade eight chances.
- 1:46Speaker 3: And again Alex Lyon putting together a Lion like performance here.
- 1:53Speaker 3: Wasn't cowardly on his part here in CF, I wouldn't
- 1:56Speaker 3: say they got Goalid.
- 1:57Speaker 4: We see that a lot where you throw up thirty
- 1:59Speaker 4: thirty five shot on goal and you just can't beat
- 2:01Speaker 4: the guy that's his on his game. There were there
- 2:04Speaker 4: were a lot of pucks to Lions area. He was
- 2:06Speaker 4: very efficient about moving the puck out of the blue
- 2:08Speaker 4: paint covering it up when he needed to, But the
- 2:10Speaker 4: Kraken had eleven eleven high danger chances, only coming up
- 2:15Speaker 4: with one goal on eleven. Your issue wasn't necessarily goaltending
- 2:19Speaker 4: or defense. It was execution at the other end of
- 2:21Speaker 4: the ice. And you know, the crack and are without
- 2:23Speaker 4: Jared McCann right now there without Jaden Schwartz. Berkeley Catten
- 2:26Speaker 4: helps with some of that offensive push a little bit,
- 2:29Speaker 4: and it certainly showed here today.
- 2:31Speaker 3: So next up for the Kraken come the Colorado Avalanche.
- 2:34Speaker 3: The league leading Colorado Avalanche. They've cooled off in recent games.
- 2:39Speaker 3: In their last ten they got tired of winning. They
- 2:41Speaker 3: got tired of winning. There's seven to one and two
- 2:43Speaker 3: and their last ten twenty three, two and seven.
- 2:48Speaker 5: That's partner, that's not a mistake, not a real stats.
- 2:51Speaker 3: Twenty three to two and seven, I mean a rematch
- 2:54Speaker 3: of the first round of the two thousand and twenty
- 2:57Speaker 3: three playoffs, but for Seattle, I mean, and against a
- 3:00Speaker 3: team that's been struggling the score goals, the Buffalo are
- 3:03Speaker 3: the Colorado Avalanche outscoring their opposition one twenty eight to
- 3:06Speaker 3: seventy four this season. I mean, it has been a
- 3:10Speaker 3: stellar season for Colorado and it's not going to be
- 3:14Speaker 3: an easy mountain to climb for the Kraken coming up
- 3:17Speaker 3: on Tuesday.
- 3:18Speaker 4: Yeah, we talk a lot about the Krakens game, and
- 3:19Speaker 4: you know what they need to do to be successful.
- 3:22Speaker 4: They know this structure that Lane Lambert has put in place.
- 3:25Speaker 4: What they need to do is they need to play
- 3:27Speaker 4: it very well against this Cottabado team. They need to
- 3:29Speaker 4: execute every single shift. They cannot take any shifts off. Again,
- 3:33Speaker 4: I'm talking about defensive structure, and they're going to have
- 3:35Speaker 4: to find a way to be effective. At the other
- 3:37Speaker 4: end of the day, she can in the game with
- 3:39Speaker 4: ten to eleven twelve high injer chances with only one goal.
- 3:42Speaker 4: So the Avalanche have elite scoring and Nathan McKinnon. They've
- 3:47Speaker 4: got an elite blue line led by kill mccarr and
- 3:50Speaker 4: they're getting excellent goaltending right now. Those three things together
- 3:54Speaker 4: are why they have the record they do well.
- 3:55Speaker 3: If you go back to some of the games the
- 3:57Speaker 3: Kraken have played this season, they've played some of the
- 4:00Speaker 3: best teams in the NHL close all season long. You
- 4:04Speaker 3: go back to the game two of the year. I
- 4:06Speaker 3: know what's early on in the season, but you beat
- 4:08Speaker 3: Vegas two to one at home that game in overtime.
- 4:11Speaker 3: You beat Toronto in overtime four to three in their building.
- 4:14Speaker 3: You go to Winnipeg on that same trip and shut
- 4:17Speaker 3: out the Winnipeg Jets, who at the time had only
- 4:20Speaker 3: lost at home five times in the last two and
- 4:24Speaker 3: a half seasons. You come back home the next night
- 4:26Speaker 3: get a three to two win over Edmonton. You lose
- 4:28Speaker 3: two to one against Dallas. I say this to say
- 4:31Speaker 3: just because Colorado is top billing in the NHL.
- 4:34Speaker 1: Just because they have all of these stud players.
- 4:38Speaker 3: The Kraken have seen this before, We've seen this book before,
- 4:41Speaker 3: and I think for Seattle, you're right, they get back
- 4:43Speaker 3: to their game. There's no reason for me to believe
- 4:46Speaker 3: this is not gonna be another tight two to one,
- 4:48Speaker 3: three to two game on Tuesday.
- 4:50Speaker 5: Yeah, and that's just it.
- 4:51Speaker 4: You know, you you've gone against some of the best
- 4:53Speaker 4: so far this season and you've had success. So you've
- 4:56Speaker 4: got to think about a little bit and think about
- 4:58Speaker 4: what I just said, which is why did you have
- 5:00Speaker 4: success against those teams? How did you play, what did
- 5:02Speaker 4: you do? What did you not do? I thought there
- 5:04Speaker 4: were just just too many opportunities tonight that Seattle did
- 5:08Speaker 4: not cash in on and when you see those happen
- 5:10Speaker 4: over and over, you start to think this could burn
- 5:12Speaker 4: you in the third period, and when it was two
- 5:14Speaker 4: to one, they're late. That's what I was thinking about,
- 5:16Speaker 4: where those opportunities.
- 5:18Speaker 3: Three to one, Buffalo taking down Seattle. These two will
- 5:21Speaker 3: rematch late in March, back in Buffalo on the twenty
- 5:25Speaker 3: eighth of March. Al back over to you for your
- 5:28Speaker 3: key takeaways and Mama Kay's three stars.
- 5:29Speaker 4: Well, a couple of key takeaways. Two different things here.
- 5:32Speaker 4: One you can affect. One you can't affect as much.
- 5:35Speaker 4: The first one you can affect our defensive errors. I
- 5:37Speaker 4: thought there were just a couple of defensive errors tonight
- 5:39Speaker 4: that led to Sabers goals. The second Saber goal was
- 5:42Speaker 4: the other thing, which is puck luck. Vince done trying
- 5:45Speaker 4: to clear the puck, it goes off, escape back into
- 5:47Speaker 4: the zone. There they get a two on or two
- 5:50Speaker 4: on one and go one the other way that results
- 5:52Speaker 4: in a goal. So a little less puck luck for
- 5:54Speaker 4: your opponents, a little more maybe maybe the outcomes different,
- 5:56Speaker 4: but you got to clean up those defensive errors. The
- 5:58Speaker 4: second thing was special teams was a little better here
- 6:01Speaker 4: tonight one for three on the power play and a
- 6:03Speaker 4: perfect penalty killed two for two, so they got to
- 6:06Speaker 4: keep that going as well. Three starts brought to you
- 6:09Speaker 4: by Mamakay. Third start tonight was Chandler Stevens. He had
- 6:11Speaker 4: a great game. Yeah, I think he's the best player
- 6:13Speaker 4: on the ice. We talked a lot about Jacob Malons
- 6:15Speaker 4: and he had a great game as well physically, but
- 6:17Speaker 4: on the score sheets tonight Chandler Stevenson with the power
- 6:20Speaker 4: play goal. He was sixty one percent in the face
- 6:23Speaker 4: off dott He had two shots on goals and get
- 6:24Speaker 4: this partner two hits as well, and they were good ones.
- 6:27Speaker 5: We love it.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Second star goes to Buffalo's Alex Tuck. He had two
- 6:30Speaker 4: assists in the First start tonight goes to Buffalo's Taje Thompson.
- 6:34Speaker 4: He had a goal. That'll do it here for us
- 6:37Speaker 4: from the press box.
- 6:38Speaker 3: Crack and Fall by a three to one score back
- 6:41Speaker 3: at it on Tuesday against Colorado to wrap up the
- 6:45Speaker 3: home portion of their pre Christmas schedule. That game nationally
- 6:49Speaker 3: televised on TNT, so this will be your only local
- 6:53Speaker 3: source for Crack and Hockey on the Crack and Audio
- 6:56Speaker 3: Network coming up on Tuesday, But for now, Mike Benton,
- 6:59Speaker 3: we'll take you home.
- 7:00Speaker 6: Yeah, guys, say, if the crackn can find a way
- 7:02Speaker 6: to get a win over Colorado, that would be a
- 7:03Speaker 6: massive you turn as far as recent fortune, Sis Chandler
- 7:06Speaker 6: Stevenson tonight getting a power play goal and that was
- 7:09Speaker 6: the only source of offense on the Crack inside which
- 7:12Speaker 6: unfortunately the finish was there undoing this evening they get
- 7:15Speaker 6: eleven high danger chances at five on five and also
- 7:19Speaker 6: a great effort unfortunately goes by the wayside from Joey
- 7:23Speaker 6: to Cord and the penalty kill and the Crack and
- 7:25Speaker 6: now trying to get out of a run of one
- 7:27Speaker 6: seven and one last nine games, and so they're searching
- 7:30Speaker 6: again for anything to get this You turned quickly tonight
- 7:34Speaker 6: a three to one defeat.
- 7:35Speaker 1: They suffer here to the Buffalo Sabers. A lot to
- 7:38Speaker 1: cover here, live across at Tom's Watch Bar, and.

- 10:48Speaker 6: the game, but one goal, unfortunately on their side, not
- 10:50Speaker 6: enough to carry the load, as Buffalo getting goals from Oscelin,
- 10:54Speaker 6: Thompson and Benson enough to finish shot the Kracking. Here
- 10:58Speaker 6: in the homestand opener up to games games three to
- 11:00Speaker 6: one year final Buffalo over the Kraken, and now the
- 11:03Speaker 6: Kracking trying to get out of a slide of one,
- 11:06Speaker 6: seven and one in the last nine games and facing
- 11:09Speaker 6: a massive challenge coming up Tuesday in the Colorado Avalanche.
- 11:13Speaker 6: You hold the top record in the entire NHL. At
- 11:16Speaker 6: this point, Mike Betton again with you back at Tom's
- 11:18Speaker 6: Watch Bar across the street from Climbing Pledge Arena and

- 11:25Speaker 6: they have thirty points and Buffalo improving to fourteen fourteen
- 11:30Speaker 6: and four. They have now thirty two points on the season.
- 11:34Speaker 6: We will have Laine Lambert and his reaction coming up
- 11:37Speaker 6: in a bit, but time now for the highlights, and
- 11:39Speaker 6: this yellow cracking draft to the next scoring recap has
- 11:41Speaker 6: brought to you with the all new Chevy tracks now
- 11:44Speaker 6: bigger and boulder tracks. Is the perfect desist for all
- 11:46Speaker 6: of life's adventures into period one. And who comes up
- 11:51Speaker 6: here for Buffalo on the first ally.
- 11:53Speaker 5: Here come the Savers back in down the far slide.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Austlin shoots and they score Auslin two on one. It
- 12:02Speaker 3: was him and Norris. Dorris finished off the play and
- 12:07Speaker 3: then went screaming into the end boards hard. It's a
- 12:13Speaker 3: one nothing Buffalo saber lead Josh Norris up skating off
- 12:18Speaker 3: under his own power.
- 12:20Speaker 5: That didn't look good.
- 12:21Speaker 6: Noah Ostlin from Josh Norris and Alex Tuck made it
- 12:24Speaker 6: one nothing in favor of Buffalo At seventeen pH nine
- 12:28Speaker 6: and into the second period, the krack and trying to
- 12:31Speaker 6: fight their way back. But what does Buffalo do off
- 12:33Speaker 6: a break down back of the cranking zone.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Seattle trying to clear, Tuck holds it onside looking down load.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Thompson scores.
- 12:43Speaker 3: A failed cracking clear up the near side.
- 12:46Speaker 5: Just unlucky.
- 12:49Speaker 3: As Seattle tried to push it up the wall and
- 12:54Speaker 3: Tage Thompson finishing off a two on Oh, it was
- 13:00Speaker 3: VI's Done who tried to clear it up the boards,
- 13:03Speaker 3: but he cleared it right into the skate of Alex Tuck.
- 13:08Speaker 3: Tuck took it back and Thompson finished it off.
- 13:11Speaker 6: It's been a tough guy to stop here for the
- 13:13Speaker 6: cracking in their franchise history is tase. Thompson gets a
- 13:16Speaker 6: sixteen goal the season from Krebs and Tuck at tenh
- 13:19Speaker 6: eight to make it to nothing, but the kracking getting
- 13:22Speaker 6: a window open as they go right here to the
- 13:24Speaker 6: power play.
- 13:25Speaker 3: Here's Vince Done left side cracking with the face off,
- 13:28Speaker 3: steven said, left cirtainle shot Chandler. Stevens said on the
- 13:40Speaker 3: power play has put the cracket.
- 13:42Speaker 5: On the board.
- 13:43Speaker 3: They trimmed that deficit in half two one seven thirty.
- 13:48Speaker 4: Six to play in the second well Matty Paniers with
- 13:51Speaker 4: a face off win. Jordan Nibley taps it back to
- 13:53Speaker 4: Vin's done at the point done down to Stevenson with
- 13:55Speaker 4: a scene ice shot from the left side, short side
- 13:59Speaker 4: on off, flying two to one.
- 14:02Speaker 6: Just six seconds after the Rasmus Donling cross checking penalty,
- 14:06Speaker 6: Chandler Stephenson coming through his sixth goal of the season
- 14:09Speaker 6: on the face off win. Simple play waited for a
- 14:13Speaker 6: screen fired at home left circle. Give credit every on
- 14:16Speaker 6: the screen and that cut the deficit to two to
- 14:18Speaker 6: one to twelve twenty four in the power play, Stevenson
- 14:21Speaker 6: getting a sixth goal of the season from Vince Dunn
- 14:24Speaker 6: and Jordan Everley, and that now, by the way, a
- 14:27Speaker 6: five game point scoring streak for Stevenson. But in period
- 14:32Speaker 6: three the Kraken ten shots on net, Buffalo with seven.
- 14:36Speaker 6: Unfortunately nothing else coming on the offensive side, and we'll
- 14:39Speaker 6: cue it up for you in just a little bit
- 14:41Speaker 6: here as far as a big turning point. But after
- 14:44Speaker 6: that it was Zach Benson who put the game away
- 14:46Speaker 6: on an empty net goal at nineteen fourteen of period three.
- 14:50Speaker 6: Quinn and McLeod had the assist on the play to
- 14:53Speaker 6: wrap it up. Sabers three, Crack and one. There's your
- 14:57Speaker 6: final score from Climate Pledgerina shants on Net twenty four
- 15:01Speaker 6: to twenty three in favor of the Cracking and as
- 15:03Speaker 6: we said, they picked their game up as far as
- 15:05Speaker 6: generation with chances and looks at the Buffalo net after
- 15:09Speaker 6: period one, but tonight, unfortunately only one goal to show
- 15:13Speaker 6: for it on alex Lyon as a crack and power
- 15:16Speaker 6: play goes one of three, but a bright spot as
- 15:18Speaker 6: well the penalty kill continuing to show improvements after giving
- 15:23Speaker 6: up seven goals and nine chances. Tonight they give up
- 15:26Speaker 6: nothing on two on the Buffalo side, virtually no passes
- 15:31Speaker 6: across the box, and the Sabers as well on the
- 15:34Speaker 6: man advantage here for this evening held to three shots
- 15:37Speaker 6: on net and also the Cracking getting a big penalty
- 15:40Speaker 6: kill at a very ideal time after the Stevenson goal
- 15:43Speaker 6: to keep Buffalo at bay and keep the Kraken in
- 15:47Speaker 6: the game. Joey decord you can't fall his zeffort. Unfortunately
- 15:50Speaker 6: he takes a loss here in this one. Twenty saves
- 15:53Speaker 6: on twenty two shots. It's alex Lyon picking up the
- 15:56Speaker 6: win on the sabers side with twenty three saves on
- 16:00Speaker 6: twenty four shots. Time for the cors Light chillless moments
- 16:03Speaker 6: of the game. Cracking fans, you could win your chance
- 16:06Speaker 6: to sit in the cors lights silver seats go to
- 16:08Speaker 6: Corslight dot com forward slash the yellow cracking to enter.
- 16:11Speaker 1: Must be twenty one years of age.
- 16:12Speaker 6: No purchase necessary, cors Light juice chill celebrate responsibly first
- 16:17Speaker 6: off in period one? How close to the cracking get
- 16:20Speaker 6: to grabbing the lead?
- 16:21Speaker 3: Fuck loose on the right side, Copold Gotto couldn't clear
- 16:24Speaker 3: held in by Samuelson.
- 16:26Speaker 5: Now Seattle two on one, here's.
- 16:27Speaker 3: Controu least side backhand off the posts. He has Stevenson
- 16:32Speaker 3: on the decoy coming down the right side, took it
- 16:34Speaker 3: himself and pings it off the pipe.
- 16:37Speaker 6: It just shows you how close the kracking were at
- 16:40Speaker 6: that point in the game to breaking through. Unfortunately, nothing
- 16:43Speaker 6: in period one on just three shots on net, but
- 16:46Speaker 6: he earned a pretty decisive advantage in shot attempts at
- 16:49Speaker 6: five on five at sixteen to twelve into period three
- 16:53Speaker 6: as well, a little over eight min and slept and
- 16:55Speaker 6: if you're pressing for offense, well how about you do
- 16:57Speaker 6: it without the other side with some pretty important tools.
- 17:01Speaker 5: So let's the act of the fire circle. But here's
- 17:04Speaker 5: the shoots that one off the body of the lion.
- 17:07Speaker 5: Now here's Everly a stick with two.
- 17:11Speaker 10: Toll it in fire's right side.
- 17:14Speaker 3: Alex Lion knocks it down head.
- 17:17Speaker 5: We'll cover it up.
- 17:19Speaker 6: It may seem subtle, but the cracking had a good
- 17:21Speaker 6: look right there, with Mattia Samuelson losing his stick and
- 17:24Speaker 6: then Alex Tuck as well losing his twig in the process,
- 17:27Speaker 6: which effectively made a five on three in favor of
- 17:30Speaker 6: the Kraken able to work the puck around and get
- 17:32Speaker 6: it to an ideal guy Ellie Tolbnen from the right
- 17:36Speaker 6: circle and a pass that went right into his wheelhouse,
- 17:39Speaker 6: unfortunately down the goaltender Alex Lion instead the back of
- 17:43Speaker 6: the net, and one of those big chances that went.
- 17:45Speaker 1: By the wayside.
- 17:46Speaker 6: Here at a three to one cracking loss to the
- 17:49Speaker 6: Buffalo Sabers. Time not for the big win brought to
- 17:52Speaker 6: you by the Evergreen Council on Problem Gambling. We go
- 17:55Speaker 6: to New Jersey where after a blockbuster trade, a new
- 17:58Speaker 6: member of the k was looking to make his mark.
- 18:02Speaker 1: Canucks lely the game won nothing. As we near the
- 18:04Speaker 1: seven minute mark of the first pair, Garland across the
- 18:07Speaker 1: devil's line, Tropizot for Brilliam to the least shirtal trying
- 18:09Speaker 1: to ask to the back tour.
- 18:11Speaker 10: They scored, it deflects into the net. I think Brendan
- 18:14Speaker 10: Dillon put this into his own goal. We'll wait and
- 18:17Speaker 10: see exactly who this is going to be credited to,
- 18:20Speaker 10: but this might be Zee Bulliams first as a Canuck.
- 18:24Speaker 6: Indeed, it was Zee Bulliam's goal his first as a Canuck.
- 18:28Speaker 6: That call courtesy Brendan Bachelor on Canucks Radio, as Bulliam
- 18:31Speaker 6: had a goal and an assists in his debut with
- 18:34Speaker 6: the Canucks in a two to one win over New
- 18:37Speaker 6: Jersey at Prudential Center. It was the Canucks, of course,
- 18:41Speaker 6: in their first game after trading Quinn Hughes. Billiam part
- 18:44Speaker 6: of a big package coming back to the Canucks along
- 18:46Speaker 6: with Marco Rossi, Liam Ogrin and the first round draft pick.
- 18:50Speaker 6: Bulliam had two Shanson goal in nineteen fifty of ice
- 18:53Speaker 6: time and also had a key role on the power
- 18:55Speaker 6: play the Canucks, going two of three on that side.
- 18:59Speaker 5: For good men.
- 19:00Speaker 6: I should mention as well, Quinn Hughes scoring in his
- 19:03Speaker 6: debut from Minnesota. How would they fare? I'll tell you
- 19:06Speaker 6: a little bit later on here we'll pause here for
- 19:08Speaker 6: a break though the crack and fall to Buffalo three
- 19:10Speaker 6: to one.
- 19:10Speaker 1: Back after this.
- 19:11Speaker 6: You're listening to the Global Credit Union Cracking Audio Network.

- 19:50Speaker 6: Mike Benton with you crack and fallllle the Buffalo sabers
- 19:52Speaker 6: three to one and now for more reaction, let's go
- 19:55Speaker 6: to crackenhead coach Lane Lambert looking.
- 19:57Speaker 13: Hey again, As I said, I thought we played hard
- 20:01Speaker 13: and you know, we can't.
- 20:04Speaker 14: Use anything for excuses. Lane, Where did you feel like
- 20:08Speaker 14: the team came up short in their execution or in
- 20:10Speaker 14: their game tonight?
- 20:12Speaker 9: Ah?
- 20:13Speaker 13: Well, you know we again, we directed quite a few
- 20:16Speaker 13: shots on net. You know, we take a split second
- 20:19Speaker 13: to get it off a little longer than we should.
- 20:21Speaker 13: There's too many shots that aren't getting through. But certainly,
- 20:25Speaker 13: you know, we had our looks, we had our chances.
- 20:28Speaker 13: I think where we really came up short, you know,
- 20:32Speaker 13: as we made a couple of mistakes that we can't
- 20:34Speaker 13: make their first goal or d stands in our protocol
- 20:38Speaker 13: is our forward has to back him up and he doesn't.
- 20:41Speaker 13: It's a too long one. Can't do that, you know,
- 20:43Speaker 13: And it's it's happening. You know, it's happening too often,
- 20:47Speaker 13: and there's no excuse for it. These players, the guys
- 20:50Speaker 13: have to have to do their job, have to do
- 20:53Speaker 13: their job, have to do the job that's required.
- 20:55Speaker 14: You know. Obviously the second one was a cost. The turnovers.
- 20:58Speaker 14: So right now we have to play the.
- 21:02Speaker 13: Perfect game and to give ourselves a chance to win.
- 21:08Speaker 13: And you know there's mistakes here and there that are
- 21:11Speaker 13: reaching up and biting us. Brandon montro told me that
- 21:14Speaker 13: he felt like there just wasn't enough urgency or enough.
- 21:16Speaker 14: Emotion in the team's game tonight. Did you see that.
- 21:21Speaker 13: I thought, for a little bit of time in the
- 21:23Speaker 13: second period, we came out slow, and you know, I
- 21:29Speaker 13: thought the energy.
- 21:30Speaker 14: Level could have been higher, but we were himed in
- 21:31Speaker 14: our zone.
- 21:32Speaker 13: So I thought our power play goal got us going again.
- 21:35Speaker 13: I thought we had plenty of chances in the.
- 21:37Speaker 14: Third period.
- 21:43Speaker 13: Late addition to the lineup, but he seemed to be
- 21:45Speaker 13: hitting everything in sight at the moment he got.
- 21:47Speaker 5: On the sea.
- 21:49Speaker 14: Did you like that energy level that he brought and.
- 21:51Speaker 13: Do you think the team was able to feed off
- 21:52Speaker 13: of it as quickly as he would have liked him?
- 21:55Speaker 14: I did like it. I did like it.
- 21:56Speaker 13: I thought it was exactly what we needed, you know,
- 22:00Speaker 13: and some youthful energy and certainly, you know, he finished
- 22:03Speaker 13: his checks.
- 22:03Speaker 14: I thought he played well.
- 22:07Speaker 15: Coach, you mentioned a couple of mistakes tonight. Have were
- 22:10Speaker 15: those mistakes happening as much at the beginning of the season, Like,
- 22:14Speaker 15: are is just things coming back to bite you that
- 22:16Speaker 15: maybe weren't biting you earlier, or are you seeing lapses
- 22:21Speaker 15: now that are coming up more. I don't know if
- 22:24Speaker 15: it's that the team is pushing to try to create
- 22:26Speaker 15: more offense, Like, what do you think is leading to that?
- 22:29Speaker 14: Yeah, that's a good question. No, I think that.
- 22:31Speaker 13: I think it's it's just biting us a little more now.
- 22:34Speaker 13: There was you know, it wasn't like we were mistake free, certainly,
- 22:38Speaker 13: but but right now it's you know, it's magnified, right
- 22:41Speaker 13: because you.
- 22:43Speaker 14: Know you're not winning and you're.
- 22:45Speaker 13: Having trouble scoring goals five on five, so those little
- 22:48Speaker 13: mistakes get magnified.
- 22:50Speaker 6: Notice you shortened the bench in the third of what
- 22:53Speaker 6: made you want to put Shane and you know, doubling
- 22:55Speaker 6: up his shifts and putting him in that spot.
- 22:58Speaker 14: Well, I thought he was gone.
- 22:59Speaker 13: I thought, you know, he was skating well, and you know,
- 23:03Speaker 13: I thought that you know, getting him out there more
- 23:05Speaker 13: would would potentially be a turning point or tipping.
- 23:08Speaker 14: Point for a team. And did you feel like it
- 23:10Speaker 14: accomplished that?
- 23:11Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 23:11Speaker 13: I thought we had some good chances, like I said
- 23:13Speaker 13: in the third period, and then thought he played well.
- 23:16Speaker 6: Those words from crackenhead coach Lane Lambert, which included the
- 23:19Speaker 6: one phrase we have to play the perfect game quotes
- 23:23Speaker 6: end quote tough one here for the Kraken as a

- 35:08Speaker 1: All right, We're just gonna get to it.
- 35:10Speaker 6: Right now four nine four five one on the KJR
- 35:13Speaker 6: text line, what are your thoughts after this one where
- 35:15Speaker 6: the Craken again struggle to find any kind of source
- 35:18Speaker 6: of offense besides this one goal as a fall three
- 35:20Speaker 6: one of the Buffalo sabers, and again win or lose,
- 35:23Speaker 6: We're here for you each and every time. On Talking
- 35:26Speaker 6: Cracking Rebecca Tom's watch bar live across from Climate Pledgerina
- 35:31Speaker 6: Mike Benton al Kaniski joining us as well again four
- 35:35Speaker 6: nine four five one, Texas here on the KJAR text line,
- 35:38Speaker 6: Now my opening thoughts here for this, It's a game
- 35:41Speaker 6: the Kraken had to have. They had to have because
- 35:45Speaker 6: you're facing a Buffalo team. And again easy for us
- 35:47Speaker 6: to say that, you know, you know, you're trying to
- 35:50Speaker 6: find a way to muster any kind of energy up
- 35:52Speaker 6: and there's a lot of illness going through this team,
- 35:54Speaker 6: but every team is going through it a lot.
- 35:55Speaker 1: We've heard it from around the league as well.
- 35:57Speaker 6: You face the Buffalo team at the end of their
- 35:59Speaker 6: six game trip there also got illness going on throughout
- 36:01Speaker 6: their entire room. But here for a game like this,
- 36:05Speaker 6: when you're trying to find anything to generate one goal
- 36:08Speaker 6: is not enough. And I go back to what Lane
- 36:10Speaker 6: Lambert said, you have to play the perfect game to
- 36:14Speaker 6: put yourself in position. So the consequences of this game, my,
- 36:18Speaker 6: oh my, dude, you have a big task at hand
- 36:21Speaker 6: coming up Tuesday against the Colorado Avalanche.
- 36:24Speaker 4: Yeah, talking about needing a perfect game, you're gonna need
- 36:26Speaker 4: one against the Colorado Avalanche when they roll into town.
- 36:29Speaker 5: Here.
- 36:29Speaker 4: You know they're they're a team that's stout on the
- 36:31Speaker 4: front end, the back end. Their goaltending is top notch
- 36:34Speaker 4: right now. But you know, I like Lane's comments striving
- 36:37Speaker 4: for perfection because you strive for perfection, then you accept excellence.
- 36:42Speaker 4: And I think that's what's missing right now is I
- 36:43Speaker 4: think the team is striving for excellence and sometimes only
- 36:46Speaker 4: getting good. And for this team, that's not good enough.
- 36:50Speaker 4: They've got to strive for that perfection to win hockey games.
- 36:53Speaker 6: And again it goes right back here to how much
- 36:55Speaker 6: more of this team misses Jared McCann, How much more
- 36:58Speaker 6: of this team misses Jaden Schwartz.
- 37:01Speaker 1: That's a big source of offense.
- 37:02Speaker 6: You're taking away not just from one, but two parts
- 37:05Speaker 6: here of the ice mccannser shooter, and then you've got
- 37:07Speaker 6: Jaden Schwartz, who does so well additionally right at the
- 37:11Speaker 6: front of that. But as of right now, the crack
- 37:13Speaker 6: and are still struggling for solutions.
- 37:14Speaker 4: Yeah, through the first two periods of the hockey game,
- 37:16Speaker 4: Cracking with nine high danger chances. Okay, those are chances
- 37:20Speaker 4: in the house in front of the net, the slot area,
- 37:23Speaker 4: kind of high slot area. They were able to generate
- 37:26Speaker 4: one goal and it was off a face off, off
- 37:27Speaker 4: the power play. They're not executing enough of their high
- 37:30Speaker 4: danger chances. It was eleven to nine in their favor
- 37:33Speaker 4: over the course of the sixty minute hockey game. And
- 37:35Speaker 4: when you're only you know, when you're only getting one
- 37:38Speaker 4: goal out of that, the problem isn't necessarily creating office
- 37:41Speaker 4: because eleven high danjure chances should be enough. It's executing.
- 37:44Speaker 4: It's finishing those high danger chances. And that's what was
- 37:47Speaker 4: not happening enough tonight.
- 37:48Speaker 6: And again we're gonna get to your reaction four nine,
- 37:50Speaker 6: four or five. One is we're right back at Tom's
- 37:52Speaker 6: watch bar. We're gonna hear from Jacob Allanson a little
- 37:54Speaker 6: bit later on, and I think that's pretty important because
- 37:57Speaker 6: him coming up from the American Hockey League in a
- 38:00Speaker 6: time like this gives you extra opportunity to make a
- 38:04Speaker 6: big impression. Maybe you're not asking him to score a
- 38:07Speaker 6: big goal, but you're looking for him to generate energy,
- 38:10Speaker 6: generate live And I can't think of a better way
- 38:13Speaker 6: he could do something like that and be a cantalyst
- 38:16Speaker 6: that have four hits. I repeat, four hits in his
- 38:20Speaker 6: first little over roughly two minutes, two shifts, in two
- 38:24Speaker 6: shifts a period.
- 38:25Speaker 1: One had seven hits.
- 38:26Speaker 5: Yeah, seven hits on the night.
- 38:27Speaker 4: And you know, I'm gonna spend a little time going
- 38:29Speaker 4: deep into the data here after we get done tonight.
- 38:32Speaker 4: I want to find the last game where a Kraken
- 38:34Speaker 4: player had seven hits in the entire game. I don't
- 38:36Speaker 4: know that there's been one this season. Again, hits don't
- 38:39Speaker 4: necessarily put pucks into net, But to your point, they
- 38:43Speaker 4: create energy, they create mistakes, they create a distraction for
- 38:47Speaker 4: the opposing team. You see, You saw what happened there
- 38:49Speaker 4: when Buffalo started focusing on Jacob Molons a little bit.
- 38:52Speaker 4: Takes away focus of other players, gives other players guys
- 38:55Speaker 4: like ever League guys like Matty Benier's, guys like McCann
- 38:58Speaker 4: when he's in the line, gives them more space on
- 39:00Speaker 4: the ice because they're focused on a guy like Jacob Malanson.
- 39:02Speaker 4: Hey look to the East coast and Tom Watson. Yeah,
- 39:05Speaker 4: that's what he does. So you know, uh, if he
- 39:09Speaker 4: can play that way, I think it gives the Kraken
- 39:12Speaker 4: a piece that they've been missing.
- 39:14Speaker 6: We've come to this point now where and we heard
- 39:16Speaker 6: this from Piper Shaw back in Lane Lambert's media scrum
- 39:21Speaker 6: a few minutes ago in a TV interview that she
- 39:23Speaker 6: had with Brandon Montor for the Crack and Hockey Network.
- 39:26Speaker 6: It's now gotten to the point where you're now calling
- 39:29Speaker 6: out teammates in that where Montor said not enough emotion,
- 39:33Speaker 6: not enough urgency. And this is coming here from a
- 39:36Speaker 6: guy who won a Stanley Cup as well in Florida,
- 39:40Speaker 6: and really and where I say, we're at that point
- 39:42Speaker 6: you lose more and more games. You're now slipping away
- 39:45Speaker 6: from the playoff picture because now we're all of a
- 39:47Speaker 6: sudden starting to see that big cluster right in the
- 39:50Speaker 6: middle break up here in the Western Conference.
- 39:52Speaker 4: Oh yeah, the best start in franchise history. Unfortunately, that
- 39:55Speaker 4: start has now slid back to your five hundred again.
- 39:58Speaker 4: And I remember last season when the team was below
- 40:00Speaker 4: five hundred. You thought, Okay, if you just win this game,
- 40:02Speaker 4: if you win, get a point here, you'll get closer
- 40:05Speaker 4: and closer to five hundred, you'll get above five hundred.
- 40:07Speaker 4: And they started out well above five hundred over the
- 40:09Speaker 4: first you know, twenty games of the season. But things
- 40:12Speaker 4: have taken a big slide here and now you're starting
- 40:14Speaker 4: to question will they have a chance at a wildcard spot.
- 40:17Speaker 4: They've got to turn this around big time because it's
- 40:20Speaker 4: not gonna get an easier between now and the end
- 40:22Speaker 4: of January.
- 40:23Speaker 6: We're gonna get to the Colorado game a little bit
- 40:25Speaker 6: later on. Plus also again reaction from Jacob Alanson, who
- 40:28Speaker 6: I'll tell you made a big impression here in his
- 40:30Speaker 6: first game called up from AHL Coachella Valley, and I
- 40:34Speaker 6: love his assertiveness. I loved his energy, I love hearing
- 40:37Speaker 6: even the confidence in his voice went out. You and
- 40:39Speaker 6: Everett talk with them back between periods two and three.
- 40:43Speaker 6: But we're gonna get more reaction here from the kJ
- 40:45Speaker 6: R text line. So folks again, Texas right now, very
- 40:47Speaker 6: simple question, what's your takeaway from tonight? What's your takeaway
- 40:51Speaker 6: at this point of the season? Four nine, four five one.
- 40:53Speaker 6: We get one reaction here from the four to two
- 40:55Speaker 6: five just bringing up bitious about just basic fundamental hockey
- 40:58Speaker 6: as far as you know, connecting with passes, possessing the
- 41:02Speaker 6: puck as well. That from the four to five then
- 41:06Speaker 6: I think we've heard more and more about playing connected.
- 41:08Speaker 6: That was a big issue. I think though to me,
- 41:11Speaker 6: as compared to maybe about two weeks ago, the plane
- 41:15Speaker 6: with connectivity wasn't as big of an issue as it was,
- 41:19Speaker 6: say maybe a little before the Edmonton game, because we
- 41:22Speaker 6: pointed this right back out. When you control the game
- 41:25Speaker 6: and shot attempts at fifty five to forty two at
- 41:28Speaker 6: five on five, you get eleven hight angered chances as well,
- 41:31Speaker 6: you are finding ways to work toward the front of
- 41:33Speaker 6: the net. But yet right now it's that finishing ability
- 41:37Speaker 6: which has escaped this team.
- 41:38Speaker 4: Yeah, and that's why I say you had enough offensive
- 41:41Speaker 4: opportunities to win this game four to two. You made
- 41:44Speaker 4: a couple of mistakes. That's where Buffalo took advantage of it,
- 41:46Speaker 4: and they executed on those mistakes two goals over the
- 41:51Speaker 4: first first two periods. But it was the opportunities that
- 41:55Speaker 4: Seattle had that they weren't able to execute on that
- 41:58Speaker 4: could have been the different upcome in this game.
- 42:01Speaker 6: Again, head coach Lane Lambert is saying that the Kraken
- 42:04Speaker 6: they had looks, they had chances, but again they had
- 42:07Speaker 6: mistakes that this team can't make. And with that acostly turnover,
- 42:11Speaker 6: I can't help but think of maybe how that goal
- 42:14Speaker 6: by Tave Thompson. I don't want to call it a
- 42:16Speaker 6: backbreaker just yet because the Kraken got back right out
- 42:18Speaker 6: of the game and they had their lookser for period three,
- 42:20Speaker 6: but that was certainly a gut punch.
- 42:22Speaker 1: And so I think really at this sense.
- 42:24Speaker 6: You could really understand and hear the frustration in Lane
- 42:26Speaker 6: Lambert's voice, which I think was a new thing for
- 42:29Speaker 6: us here for this season. You know, he tends to,
- 42:32Speaker 6: you know, play this with you know, a dose of accountability.
- 42:35Speaker 6: But you heard some patients in his voice, and now
- 42:38Speaker 6: it really seems like you're at this point that you're
- 42:41Speaker 6: you're looking for any kind of extreme measures here to
- 42:43Speaker 6: get this thing fixed.
- 42:44Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, you know this, this team has to
- 42:47Speaker 4: win close games. And I'm not saying that they intentionally
- 42:50Speaker 4: want to keep the games closed. That's just the way
- 42:53Speaker 4: they play. They do it and they do a good job.
- 42:54Speaker 4: So you did a great job job better. He pointed
- 42:56Speaker 4: this out back in the in the pregame show. But
- 42:58Speaker 4: it's not to take anything away from him, but they
- 43:00Speaker 4: don't have a Nathan McKinnon, they don't have a Conor McDavid,
- 43:03Speaker 4: they don't have a cal mccarr. They've got a bunch
- 43:05Speaker 4: of guys that if they work really hard, they take
- 43:08Speaker 4: advantage of their opportunities and they strive for a perfect game,
- 43:12Speaker 4: they're gonna end up on top more times than they're not.
- 43:15Speaker 4: And if they don't play that way, that's when you
- 43:17Speaker 4: see the big the big swings where it's a big
- 43:20Speaker 4: Edmonton loss or you just end up on the wrong
- 43:22Speaker 4: side of a one goal.
- 43:22Speaker 6: Game again four nine, four or five one, Texas. Right
- 43:25Speaker 6: now on the KJR text line, what's your biggest takeaway
- 43:28Speaker 6: here from this evening? What's going to fix this offense again?
- 43:30Speaker 6: Four nine four or five one? Is we're live right
- 43:32Speaker 6: back at Tom's watch bar. I want to bring something
- 43:35Speaker 6: up and react. One from what Lane Lambert said, and
- 43:38Speaker 6: that he was shortening the bench, which means you're giving
- 43:41Speaker 6: ice time more to others and you're giving less to
- 43:44Speaker 6: those and they're effectively stuck right back on the bench.
- 43:47Speaker 6: It's a very typical move and a very savvy move
- 43:50Speaker 6: that experienced coaches do. That's what this team has with
- 43:53Speaker 6: Lane Lambert, but giving Shane Wright more ice time. I
- 43:57Speaker 6: give credit here to the question that was asked right
- 43:59Speaker 6: back in the media. Right, of course, did not score,
- 44:01Speaker 6: but had a couple of shots on goal. Lane Lambert
- 44:04Speaker 6: said he saw Shane Wright really get going. He wanted
- 44:07Speaker 6: to reward him. The feeling I get is that the
- 44:10Speaker 6: more and more that Shane Wright plays with confidence, the
- 44:13Speaker 6: more and more that he is able to hang on
- 44:16Speaker 6: to the puck, not so much out of complete selfishness,
- 44:19Speaker 6: but really more so with purpose. And it's almost kind
- 44:21Speaker 6: of like with what Berkeley Katton does. Now we've seen
- 44:23Speaker 6: this more hanging onto the puck, the draw defenders in
- 44:27Speaker 6: and open up spacing for more of your teammates. Case
- 44:30Speaker 6: in point for me was the Ben Meyers shot that
- 44:32Speaker 6: they had back in the second period. Theysed to just
- 44:34Speaker 6: stay no zone time where I kept the play along
- 44:37Speaker 6: the blue line very difficult you're moving at that high
- 44:40Speaker 6: rate of speed, But yet it was that play that
- 44:43Speaker 6: unloaded and unlocked the door for Myers to uncork one
- 44:47Speaker 6: for the left circle. The more and more we can
- 44:50Speaker 6: see Shane Wright make plays like that, I think the
- 44:53Speaker 6: better for him, and maybe you're finally starting to unlock
- 44:56Speaker 6: the door for even more offense out of him.
- 44:58Speaker 4: Yeah, he centered to Ryan Winter and Yanni Newman tonight
- 45:01Speaker 4: Coachella boys, and you know, obviously you're comfortable playing with anybody,
- 45:05Speaker 4: but when it's guys you've played with in Coachella, there's
- 45:07Speaker 4: an added element there. So he seemed really comfortable with that.
- 45:10Speaker 4: I thought he looked pretty good tonight. He did have
- 45:13Speaker 4: a shot on goalie, had a hit. Janni Newman on
- 45:15Speaker 4: his line had two hits tonight, and you're not seeing
- 45:17Speaker 4: a lot of physicality from Yanny Neuman, but I think
- 45:19Speaker 4: he's turning the corner at least starting to understand the
- 45:21Speaker 4: way he needs to play a little bit. Winterton, I
- 45:24Speaker 4: thought had a pretty good game as well. So that line,
- 45:26Speaker 4: if left together for a few games, you might start
- 45:29Speaker 4: to see them convert on.
- 45:29Speaker 6: A few twenty four hits on the Crakenside sixteen for
- 45:33Speaker 6: Buffalo and guests who led them we already talked about
- 45:36Speaker 6: him earlier. That was Jacob Malanson and for good measure,
- 45:39Speaker 6: Ellie Tolbnan had three hits in this game, Paara hits
- 45:42Speaker 6: also for Adam Larson, Chandler Stevenson. I thought a great
- 45:45Speaker 6: point that you and ever have brought up as far
- 45:47Speaker 6: as the well roundedness of his game. He had a
- 45:49Speaker 6: couple of hits as well. Of course he's known for offense,
- 45:51Speaker 6: but also Newman two hits, Riker Evans two hits as
- 45:55Speaker 6: well in this game again four nine, four or five
- 45:57Speaker 6: to one for back at Tom's Watch Bar Live as
- 45:59Speaker 6: a back and fall three one two the Buffalo Sabers.
- 46:02Speaker 6: We get some reaction here from the four two five saying,
- 46:06Speaker 6: especially with Jared mccannon injured, we need someone else here
- 46:09Speaker 6: to step up. Al you mentioned about the lines and
- 46:12Speaker 6: keeping that bottom trio, yeah, stuck together. What a surprise
- 46:16Speaker 6: you to see maybe again another shake up, especially at
- 46:19Speaker 6: the top here.
- 46:20Speaker 4: You know, I think that Lae Laffert is going to
- 46:21Speaker 4: continue to do that until he starts to see production
- 46:24Speaker 4: out of out of at least his top six on
- 46:27Speaker 4: his forwards. He's going to continue to tweak things and
- 46:29Speaker 4: and look for you know, not just not just creation
- 46:33Speaker 4: of offense, but execution of offense. And like I said,
- 46:36Speaker 4: with mccannon and Schwartz out, that's difficult, but that doesn't
- 46:39Speaker 4: mean it can't happen. It just means that, you know,
- 46:41Speaker 4: you've got to get the right set of guys together
- 46:43Speaker 4: that can funnel pucksinet that can go hard to net,
- 46:47Speaker 4: then that can find rebounds, can find deflections. It doesn't
- 46:50Speaker 4: necessarily have to be tic tac toe, but you've got
- 46:53Speaker 4: to find guys that that that that will do work
- 46:55Speaker 4: the greasy areas and are willing to go hard to
- 46:58Speaker 4: the front of the net battles to stay there to.
- 47:00Speaker 6: Score goals four to two five saying, if you get
- 47:02Speaker 6: a star on this team that really helps his team
- 47:04Speaker 6: out here and with that, I need to set it
- 47:07Speaker 6: up to get the puck in and especially it would
- 47:10Speaker 6: certainly help on breakaway shootouts, et cetera. That from the
- 47:13Speaker 6: four to two five. Another one here separately from the
- 47:15Speaker 6: four to two five saying, needing to realize the defense
- 47:18Speaker 6: is so good that the Kraken can take time to
- 47:20Speaker 6: set the puck up in the offensive zone to make
- 47:23Speaker 6: those players and to get it as well with funneling
- 47:25Speaker 6: pucks on that paraphrase, and that they're from the four
- 47:28Speaker 6: to two five again, Mike Benton Alkaniski with you. I
- 47:31Speaker 6: want to hear from here right now four nine, four
- 47:33Speaker 6: to five one text us as far as what your
- 47:35Speaker 6: reaction is from this one even.
- 47:37Speaker 1: Maybe what's your best solution for.
- 47:39Speaker 6: The Kraken heading into this week after this evening's game,
- 47:43Speaker 6: which I think certainly begins on Tuesday against what maybe
- 47:47Speaker 6: the most threatening team in the NHL, the Colorado Avalanche,
- 47:51Speaker 6: just two regulation losses, I rep two regulation losses on
- 47:55Speaker 6: the entire season. It's not going to get much easier
- 47:57Speaker 6: because they also play four on the road after So again,
- 48:00Speaker 6: Texas your best solution here for the Kraken and on
- 48:03Speaker 6: their side this week at four nine four five one.
- 48:07Speaker 6: All right, before we go to break here, I want
- 48:08Speaker 6: to discuss additionally the play in net here for the
- 48:12Speaker 6: Kraken and Joey to Cord once again tonight, I thought
- 48:14Speaker 6: deserving much better than what he was handed. Unfortunately, twenty
- 48:17Speaker 6: saves on twenty two shots, so at least he had
- 48:20Speaker 6: to walk away with a little bit of encouragement as
- 48:23Speaker 6: far as where his game could be right now at
- 48:24Speaker 6: the end of this evening.
- 48:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I didn't see any big mistakes by Joey Tocord tonight.
- 48:28Speaker 4: His save percentage ended above nine hundred. His goals against
- 48:31Speaker 4: I think coming into the game were the high twos.
- 48:34Speaker 4: He ends up with a two goals against average, so
- 48:37Speaker 4: he improved on both of his stats tonight. I think
- 48:39Speaker 4: he did his part. I think anytime your goaltender can
- 48:42Speaker 4: keep the goals against to two or less, he's putting
- 48:45Speaker 4: you in a position to win a hockey game. You
- 48:47Speaker 4: have to go out and do the job at the
- 48:48Speaker 4: other end. And like I said the Cracker, we're just
- 48:51Speaker 4: unable to get get it done putting pucks past Alex
- 48:54Speaker 4: Lion tonight.
- 48:55Speaker 6: Where are we at right now with special teams. They
- 48:58Speaker 6: go one for three on the power play tonight and
- 49:01Speaker 6: the one that they scored very quick, simple play, and
- 49:05Speaker 6: so you don't get a long look as far as
- 49:06Speaker 6: their structure, but you do what you're paid to do
- 49:09Speaker 6: and basically get pucks on that. But the penalty kill
- 49:12Speaker 6: as well over to and we talked about this as
- 49:14Speaker 6: well in pregame. This penalty kill overall still struggling, but
- 49:19Speaker 6: maybe turning the corner. And after giving up seven goals
- 49:22Speaker 6: and nine chances, they have now killed off ten of twelve.
- 49:26Speaker 6: But I thought, especially here for tonight, they get a
- 49:29Speaker 6: big kill in the second period and virtually nothing getting across.
- 49:33Speaker 6: That was a big sign of improvement for me on
- 49:36Speaker 6: the PK.
- 49:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 49:37Speaker 4: I mean this cracket team has quite a rotating cast
- 49:39Speaker 4: of characters. In the power Play. They've got ten different
- 49:42Speaker 4: guys that have one goal or more. And you might say, well,
- 49:45Speaker 4: there's you know, there's ten guys on two power plays.
- 49:48Speaker 4: That's good, right, Well it's not good because some of
- 49:49Speaker 4: those guys aren't on the power Play right now, or
- 49:51Speaker 4: they're injured McCann and Schwartz. So it's difficult when you've
- 49:56Speaker 4: got guys coming in and out of the power Play
- 49:58Speaker 4: because just like having synergy, chemistry, whatever you already want
- 50:02Speaker 4: to use with your line, you have the same thing
- 50:04Speaker 4: with the power play as well. And so when you
- 50:06Speaker 4: can keep the same five guys together and they're actually
- 50:09Speaker 4: having success, power play gets stronger and stronger and stronger
- 50:12Speaker 4: because you just get used to knowing what guys are
- 50:14Speaker 4: gonna do. And when you've got guys coming in and
- 50:16Speaker 4: coming out, you're constantly having to readjust oh, this guy
- 50:19Speaker 4: likes to go to this area that, oh, this guy,
- 50:22Speaker 4: you know, passes a little store.
- 50:23Speaker 5: So I have to get in this position.
- 50:25Speaker 4: It takes time, and I think that's part of the
- 50:27Speaker 4: reason why the power play has been struggling.
- 50:29Speaker 6: As far as the kill is concerned, when you're facing
- 50:31Speaker 6: a team that's on a heater like Buffalo is and
- 50:33Speaker 6: the firepower that they have and Rasmus Dahlin, Tase Thompson,
- 50:36Speaker 6: Alex Tuck. Yeah, it really says something here, but I
- 50:40Speaker 6: think leading into that, when you give up mistakes to Buffalo,
- 50:45Speaker 6: you give them up here to the wrong guys Josh Norris,
- 50:47Speaker 6: Alex Tuck. They can play with the pucks, certainly, and
- 50:49Speaker 6: then Tase Thompson who finishes off that play in the
- 50:52Speaker 6: second period. You cannot give a two to zero up
- 50:55Speaker 6: to anybody, let alone Tase Thompson when he's on the ice.
- 50:58Speaker 5: No, you can't. There's just too much time allent there.
- 51:00Speaker 4: And unfortunately the you know, I talked a little bit
- 51:03Speaker 4: about puck luck tonight that there wasn't enough of coming
- 51:06Speaker 4: to the Seattle side. There was a little bit too
- 51:07Speaker 4: much going to the Buffalo side. I don't mean puck
- 51:10Speaker 4: luck in terms of the puck going to the net,
- 51:12Speaker 4: but puck lucky resulting in scoring opportunities to see above
- 51:15Speaker 4: t Thompson.
- 51:16Speaker 6: So at that again, the crack and fall three one
- 51:18Speaker 6: of the Buffalo Sabers again, still trying to climb out
- 51:20Speaker 6: of a hole of just one win now in the
- 51:23Speaker 6: last nine games.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Colorado is up next.
- 51:25Speaker 6: We'll touch on them here in just a bit and
- 51:27Speaker 6: how the Cracking have to approach that game. But we're
- 51:28Speaker 6: also going to hear from Jacob Alanson and react to
- 51:31Speaker 6: him with a pretty impressive physical debut. The Cracking is
- 51:35Speaker 6: certainly needing it, and he came out swinging, so to speak,
- 51:38Speaker 6: with seven hits in this game to lead the Crack
- 51:40Speaker 6: in despite just one goal on the board as a
- 51:42Speaker 6: Crack and fall three one two the Buffalo Sabers. Mike
- 51:45Speaker 6: Benton Alkanewski right back here at Tom's watchbar across from
- 51:49Speaker 6: Climbing Pledge Arena. Tables are still open, but they're filling
- 51:52Speaker 6: up right now pretty fast. So come on and and
- 51:53Speaker 6: join us asap if you're around the area. We'll come
- 51:57Speaker 6: back in a bit and a little bit more here
- 51:59Speaker 6: on Talk and back on ninety three to three KJRFM.
- 52:03Speaker 2: Now back to duck in Kracking with Mike Binton on
- 52:07Speaker 2: your home of a Cracking sports radio Letty three point
- 52:10Speaker 2: three kJ r FM.
- 52:12Speaker 6: All right, we're back at Tom's washbar right across from
- 52:15Speaker 6: climbing Pledge Arena as a crack and again just one
- 52:17Speaker 6: goal unfortunately on their side and falling through one here
- 52:20Speaker 6: to the Buffalo Sabers, remaining five points out of the
- 52:22Speaker 6: cut line in the Western Conference.
- 52:25Speaker 1: All right, back downstairs we go.
- 52:26Speaker 6: More reaction here from the recently called up forward Jacob
- 52:30Speaker 6: Allanson meeting with the media.
- 52:34Speaker 23: Maybe you didn't waste a lot of time getting getting
- 52:36Speaker 23: your first hit with the games that helped you kind
- 52:38Speaker 23: of settle into the action.
- 52:39Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 52:40Speaker 24: I mean the way I play, I played physically. I
- 52:41Speaker 24: bring energy and the easiest way to get into it
- 52:44Speaker 24: is get that first big hit and I feel felt
- 52:46Speaker 24: much better after that.
- 52:47Speaker 23: You're kind of dropping in an odd time here with
- 52:49Speaker 23: the team kind of in a tough situation in terms
- 52:52Speaker 23: of puffins have been going. What's your kind of take
- 52:55Speaker 23: been on just the mood of the team here so
- 52:56Speaker 23: far since.
- 52:57Speaker 5: You've dropped in.
- 52:58Speaker 24: Yeah, I mean everyone's been welcoming, happy to have me,
- 53:00Speaker 24: and I thought tonight I brought my energy, brought my physicality,
- 53:04Speaker 24: and I'll keep bringing that when the team needs it,
- 53:06Speaker 24: and I feel like I can be a big part
- 53:08Speaker 24: of that.
- 53:08Speaker 23: When did you find out you were going to play something.
- 53:11Speaker 24: I've found out when I got to the rink here
- 53:13Speaker 24: at round three.
- 53:18Speaker 6: All right, that's forward Jacob Allanson, very brief meeting with
- 53:21Speaker 6: the media right there as the cracken again gets seven
- 53:23Speaker 6: hits out of him and his first game called up
- 53:25Speaker 6: from ahl Coachelle Valley text here from the four to
- 53:29Speaker 6: two five say, mindset is an underrated tool in the
- 53:32Speaker 6: sport of hockey. I'll tell you what, Jacob Allanson nailed
- 53:34Speaker 6: the assignment. He came in, knew what he had to do.
- 53:37Speaker 6: Play physical play, brash play with assertedness. And now the
- 53:41Speaker 6: question is, I think what's up next year for him
- 53:43Speaker 6: al in game two when he's played back in and
- 53:45Speaker 6: how much more that can really bring an infectious effect
- 53:49Speaker 6: if you will across the entire team.
- 53:51Speaker 4: Well, listen, if he goes into the lineup Tuesday against Colorado,
- 53:54Speaker 4: they're gonna need that physicality to slow the Colorado Avalanche
- 53:57Speaker 4: down as much as possible. They if they could, they
- 53:59Speaker 4: play him on every single shift just for that reason alone.
- 54:02Speaker 4: So maybe his physicality will spread to the other players
- 54:05Speaker 4: on his line, which then spreads to the other players
- 54:07Speaker 4: on the ice. Tendler Stevenson had two hits tonight. I'm
- 54:10Speaker 4: not saying that's because of Jacob mo Lonston's play, but
- 54:13Speaker 4: when everybody's playing that way, you become hard to play against.
- 54:16Speaker 6: Well, I think also, I mean people may be asking
- 54:18Speaker 6: this question here for those who are still learning about
- 54:20Speaker 6: this game, because he only played tonight in seven forty
- 54:24Speaker 6: seven of ice time, and you're thinking, well, if he's
- 54:25Speaker 6: making that big of an impact, well, why don't you
- 54:27Speaker 6: play in the entire game. Well, it's a lot more
- 54:30Speaker 6: complicated than that. So the question is how can you
- 54:33Speaker 6: plug him in to be effective and also find a
- 54:35Speaker 6: way to have that effect take across as far as
- 54:38Speaker 6: his game and his attributes across the entire lineup and
- 54:40Speaker 6: put the fodes out of our best suit of here
- 54:42Speaker 6: to score.
- 54:43Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean I think that you know, you want
- 54:45Speaker 4: to be obviously more than a one dimensional player, and
- 54:47Speaker 4: tonight his dimension was physicality.
- 54:49Speaker 5: He went hard to the net as well.
- 54:51Speaker 4: If puckso would have bounced different ways, he might have
- 54:53Speaker 4: had an as sister a goal, but they didn't.
- 54:55Speaker 5: But I think that if you let him.
- 54:56Speaker 4: Play that way for two, three, four games in a row,
- 55:00Speaker 4: but that time on ice will go up and you
- 55:02Speaker 4: might even start to see some offense generated that comes
- 55:05Speaker 4: off of his.
- 55:05Speaker 6: Stick seven O eight saying wants to see more selfishness
- 55:08Speaker 6: year from the forward still and too many facilitators and
- 55:10Speaker 6: not enough shooting going on from the seven o Waight, Al,
- 55:13Speaker 6: what's your reaction.
- 55:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean the shots on goal weren't as high
- 55:17Speaker 4: as last game. I think they finished with twenty four
- 55:19Speaker 4: shots on goal. But like I said, high danger chances
- 55:21Speaker 4: at eleven for Seattle. To me, that's enough to win
- 55:24Speaker 4: a game three two, four to two if you're able
- 55:27Speaker 4: to execute it. You don't need twenty high danger chances.
- 55:29Speaker 4: Each of those are scoring opportunities from the house area
- 55:32Speaker 4: in front of the net, So I those don't come
- 55:35Speaker 4: as a result of not being selfish. They come as
- 55:38Speaker 4: a result of shooting the puck. And I didn't see
- 55:41Speaker 4: too many times where I thought players passed off the
- 55:43Speaker 4: puck instead of shooting it tonight like we'd seen probably
- 55:46Speaker 4: I don't know, a week or two ago.
- 55:48Speaker 1: And this is the way it's gonna be right now.
- 55:49Speaker 6: And so you can get guys back in like Jared McCann,
- 55:52Speaker 6: get guys in like Jayden Schwartz, Get guys in who
- 55:55Speaker 6: can carry it to and it looks like with more
- 55:57Speaker 6: confidence than Berkeley Catton. And for the time this is
- 56:00Speaker 6: gonna be just again the same kind of formula. You've
- 56:02Speaker 6: got a funnel pucks right toward the front of the net.
- 56:04Speaker 6: But also play with confidence because we're getting into a
- 56:08Speaker 6: very very i think treacherous point right now to try
- 56:11Speaker 6: to keep that confidence maintained.
- 56:12Speaker 5: Alt.
- 56:12Speaker 4: Yeah, and the other thing that might happen is you
- 56:14Speaker 4: might see not not only more goals going in five
- 56:16Speaker 4: on five you get those guys back in the lineup,
- 56:18Speaker 4: but just see the power play percentage go up as well.
- 56:20Speaker 4: Was one for three tonight, that's pretty good. Yeah, but
- 56:23Speaker 4: you need to start seeing, you know, two for three,
- 56:25Speaker 4: two for four, that sort of thing, end scoring even
- 56:28Speaker 4: strength as well to win these games.
- 56:30Speaker 6: So how do the Craken package all of that? Coming
- 56:32Speaker 6: up here for Tuesday? That's up next.
- 56:35Speaker 1: For the Kraken against the Colorado Avalanche.
- 56:37Speaker 6: First meeting it was coming and the Avalanche right now
- 56:41Speaker 6: playing like a ten thousand ton wagon. My goodness, twenty
- 56:45Speaker 6: three to two and seven. They won't get there, you think,
- 56:48Speaker 6: but they're on base for a hundred and third ever,
- 56:50Speaker 6: tell me they've.
- 56:52Speaker 4: They've slid recently over the last eight games. I had
- 56:54Speaker 4: a hard time believing that.
- 56:55Speaker 6: But they lead the NHL and regulation wins, they lead
- 56:58Speaker 6: the NHL and five on five goal ratio. They've got
- 57:01Speaker 6: star power, they can defend number one PK in the NHL,
- 57:05Speaker 6: better goaltending. But also with the captain Gabriel Landeskog back,
- 57:09Speaker 6: my goodness, they're playing like they're on a mission right now.
- 57:12Speaker 6: So what do you do behind Nathan McKinnon, because he's
- 57:15Speaker 6: gonna get this pug touch us here that that's gonna
- 57:17Speaker 6: be a challenge. But the big challenge you ever Colorado
- 57:20Speaker 6: might be secondary scoring because you have McKinnon twenty six
- 57:23Speaker 6: goals Heard Trophy favorite, and after that down to fourteen
- 57:26Speaker 6: goals for Martin Ais and then Tory Lekin and Brock
- 57:29Speaker 6: Nelson with twelve and Calee mccarr with ten.
- 57:32Speaker 4: Oh yeah, I mean the last time the Colorado scored
- 57:34Speaker 4: less than three goals in a game was way back
- 57:36Speaker 4: on the twenty eighth. They scored two to two tie
- 57:39Speaker 4: or two two game that went to overtime with Minnesota
- 57:42Speaker 4: or shootout. I think that's gonna be the cracking recipe
- 57:45Speaker 4: for success on Tuesday. You've got to keep this Colorado
- 57:47Speaker 4: team under or three goals or less to stay in
- 57:51Speaker 4: this game, and then create the same number of high
- 57:53Speaker 4: Deger chances you did tonight, execute on a couple of more,
- 57:56Speaker 4: and you find yourself in the tight hockey game once again.
- 57:58Speaker 4: As you and I always talk about heading into the
- 58:00Speaker 4: third period within a goal which gives yourself a chance
- 58:03Speaker 4: for a whip.
- 58:04Speaker 1: I certainly agree with me.
- 58:04Speaker 6: A controllable game of five on five, stay out of
- 58:07Speaker 6: the box and keep the puck away from five on
- 58:09Speaker 6: four situations involving mccarr McKinnon. You're gonna put yourself in
- 58:13Speaker 6: good position here, so the crack and looking to see
- 58:15Speaker 6: if they can get that you'd turn on Tuesday. It's
- 58:18Speaker 6: all the time we have for now, folks, say, really appreciated.
- 58:20Speaker 6: The responses were terrific here all night this evening, and
- 58:23Speaker 6: our big thanks as well to Travis Smuger, our technical director,
- 58:26Speaker 6: and Terry Ryan as well are on site engineer, and
- 58:29Speaker 6: to the staff here at Tom's Watch Bar, and we'll
- 58:32Speaker 6: do it for here for al Koniski. This is Mike
- 58:34Speaker 6: Benton saying good night from Climbate Pledge Arena and Tom's
- 58:38Speaker 6: Watch Bar and thank you for joining us. Your final
- 58:40Speaker 6: score once again this evening, the Buffalo Sabers three and
- 58:44Speaker 6: the SEATTL Kraken one. This is Talking Cracking on ninety
- 58:47Speaker 6: three to three KJRFM
