- 0:05What's going on, everybody, and what's going on, folks? My name is David,
- 0:09and I'm your legendary host of the legendary podcast, the Deconstructed Topic
- 0:13Podcast. I almost forgot.
- 0:15I'm like, I got so much in my mind today.
- 0:17You already know that today is Tuesday, June 9th.
- 0:21Today would have been a great, beautiful day for us things fans to wake up and say one more.
- 0:26But sadly, we still got dos mas, two more. But anyways, welcome to the legendary,
- 0:32podcast of the Deconstructed Topper Podcast.
- 0:36And listen, in my podcast, we grab an episode and we talk about a little bit
- 0:41of it all. And you already know off the bat, we are talking about the New York
- 0:45Knicks who lost yesterday 115 to 111.
- 0:49And it's one of those games that you'd be like, okay.
- 0:52Okay, how can we bounce back? You know, and, you know, despite all the distraction
- 0:56there, I'll do another podcast in regards to that because we're talking basketball.
- 1:02Let's go. Anyways, I'm a little bit, uh, taking a deep breath because I'm excited.
- 1:10I'm anxious. I'm like, can we, come on? We sure got two more. Let's get it tomorrow.
- 1:16And game three, hey, listen, game three was one of those games that you say, hey, we got a series now.
- 1:23We have a series. And the fact is that the San Antonio Spurs beat the New York Knicks, 115-111.
- 1:30And it's a game that, hey, listen, we got to go back, and I'm hoping this is
- 1:34not the beginning of when Benyana says, take it away a long time to say that name.
- 1:41Holla at me if you are in from the 90s. It took me a while to kind of say Akeem Olajuwon.
- 1:48If you look at, you know, his basketball card and you try to say Aluha Huan, yo, chill, my four.
- 1:56But the fact that once you started getting cable watching ESPN and listening
- 2:00to the 1994 Knicks-Rockets game and all that good stuff, Akeem Olajuwon,
- 2:07I heard that name a little bit too much.
- 2:10But shout out to Wen, Wen Bayama. Hey, listen, young cag, young fella,
- 2:15you doing your thing. I see you.
- 2:18You came big yesterday. No funny stuff. I mean, when the young man,
- 2:22you know what? The dude is so tall that if even he points his finger up,
- 2:26he's touching Master's Garden, the top of Master's Garden. I tell you.
- 2:32But it's a situation where the Knicks –,
- 2:36You know, we had a little thing going on in halftime, man. Shout out to a lot
- 2:40of my peoples, my colleagues, my close friends, and everybody in between,
- 2:45fans and all that, hitting me up in the chat. Let's go, Knicks.
- 2:48Let's go, Knicks, when we are winning in halftime.
- 2:51And I just had to respond like, hey, listen, I don't say much because I'm an
- 2:55anxious New York Knicks fan.
- 2:59We don't know when we're going to get this chance, but we are two games away.
- 3:02And welcome to my podcast because we're going to get into what happened in game
- 3:06three and what to expect as you can see right here on the information on my left right,
- 3:13left right hey i'm watching you i'm that dude my sense of humor sometimes you
- 3:19get out there because hey i'm the coolest guy ever and that's what you could
- 3:23find me in the circuit city,
- 3:26air condition section that's how cool i am circuit city shout out to the circuit
- 3:31city i should be saying the whiz,
- 3:33for those who people out there know in new york city i think the whiz was like
- 3:38a east coast northeast kind of staple and it was actually owned by uh james
- 3:42dolan the owner of the new york knicks so,
- 3:45when i say nobody beats the whiz nobody beats the knicks let's get it but yesterday,
- 3:51the uh spurs came and the spurs ate they brought in that game,
- 3:56and the fact that we were winning people hitting me up talking about, yeah, let's go, Nix.
- 4:00Yeah, woo, woo, woo, boo, boo. And I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 4:03yeah. But, you know, I'm going to say it's this about the Spurs.
- 4:08A very young team. And boy, oh, boy, as this team have learned how to play together.
- 4:14And the fact because of Wambi, Castle, and some of these other players,
- 4:18they're doing something like, hey, we're here.
- 4:20Despite the Nix having more playoff experience and having some,
- 4:25you know, some some heartbreakers in the last couple of years when it's Boston
- 4:29you know Indiana whatever it is we here we're here so,
- 4:36You know, the defense, especially in the third quarter, like once the defense
- 4:39came up, we were just not doing anything or they couldn't just stop.
- 4:43You know, once the Spurs started to get that lead, and I kept on telling people,
- 4:48okay, this is the thing when the Spurs got the lead and how we will play yesterday.
- 4:52The Spurs a couple of times had a 5, 6, 7-point lead, 8-point lead,
- 4:5610-point lead, whatever it is.
- 4:58We'll chop it up. We'll cut it to half. We'll cut it to three.
- 5:02But, you know, turnovers and mistakes. You know, the Spurs, you know,
- 5:07playing that one, playing that defense, playing one-on-one. So.
- 5:12Especially with Brunson.
- 5:13And Brunson looked like, you know, he was in a boxing match.
- 5:17Him taking a hit. And he took one from Wemby. And I'm going to say it's this way with that.
- 5:22So, Wemby just said, for something like that, any other player would have gotten a frigging foul.
- 5:28Or in any other era, depending on the player. See, the NBA always have had this
- 5:33thing when it comes to sports. and this is across every sport, but primarily the NBA.
- 5:40When you got a player like, let's say, Wambi, whether it's Jordan,
- 5:44whether it's Curry, whether it's Magic, you know, Larry, Dr. J..
- 5:50The NBA always have this thing that when they got this next superstar,
- 5:55the stars is aligned, the NBA is aligned, and that person is going to get away
- 5:59with certain things that other players won't.
- 6:01That's just the NBA in a nutshell. You see, the NBA is not loyal to,
- 6:05and when I say the NBA, the National Basketball Association,
- 6:09they're not loyal to the New York Knicks, despite the headquarters being in New York.
- 6:13The most winningest team of titles when it comes to, you know,
- 6:18the NBA is Boston, and then what? Lakers behind them.
- 6:22So you see, the NBA is loyal to ratings.
- 6:25You might say, oh, but New York is a big market.
- 6:30But the NBA, when it comes to certain things, they're a little bit funny.
- 6:33And people were kind of like calling out the refs like, yo, what's up?
- 6:36But again, the NBA is going to probably look at it and say, hey,
- 6:40the future looks bright with a guy like Wemby.
- 6:43So I'll leave that at that. He has been getting away with certain things.
- 6:48Young kid, young dude. I mean, I give them props, but I'm just saying.
- 6:53And we were just missing shots. You know, the Knicks were just missing shots, even wide open ones.
- 6:58But for the most part, you know, the defense of the Spurs, they step up.
- 7:01Again, they are the younger player.
- 7:03They got a little bit of extra spring, extra movement.
- 7:08We are just happy to play a little bit more physical, and that's why I say,
- 7:14how can we rebound? How can we win? And we have to. I'm going to say it's a
- 7:18must that the Knicks win game four. But we got to play our defense.
- 7:23And, again, I want to say give it to Cat because it's Cat and Wemby.
- 7:28Either he's going to block your shot or he's going to be call or foul.
- 7:32Now, again, the refs here, you know.
- 7:37And I'm just saying, refs, I get it. I get it.
- 7:41But Cat is a little bit bigger. You know, a cat can do this little thing going on here.
- 7:48Give him the ball. Let him score. Let him discourage Wemby. Wemby's still a young kid.
- 7:55That's why he had that game, too, where he was making mistakes.
- 8:00Off the bat, because of his youth, not his athleticism, but because of his youth,
- 8:05he's got a big, mad mistake.
- 8:07He'll bounce back with some crazy dunk where he's coming off the rafters,
- 8:12taking all the Knicks Eastern Conference final flag, whatever Atlantic Division flags.
- 8:18Even the Rangers flagged that the dude would just jump so high and dunk the
- 8:22ball that somewhere down the line, we got to say, okay, if he's going to do
- 8:26that, then we got to discourage him.
- 8:28Or at least kind of make him question him. That's what happened in game two.
- 8:31You want that in this game four.
- 8:34You know, the turnovers was a little bit crazy. Protect the ball,
- 8:37I mean, at all costs. You've seen Bison protect yourself at all times.
- 8:42When it comes to protect the ball, cut those turnovers.
- 8:46Brunson, you know, I'm going to say, Brunson's a clutch player, but, you know.
- 8:53He's taking some hits. Now, sadly, the other time that he takes hits,
- 8:58no foul, he loses the ball. Hey, listen, all fair. You know,
- 9:04it's all in the line. It's a turnover.
- 9:07Spurs got it. They're doing their thing.
- 9:10You know, I've rattled GTA 5. That's my dude. But, hey, you know,
- 9:13I best need to a little kind of step up a little bit, a little bit,
- 9:16take the pressure off of our starters.
- 9:19Remember, we got here a lot because Shamit, you know, Alvarado and some of these
- 9:26other, you know, Robinson, you know, we got here because of our bench. You know,
- 9:32Robinson is there, but you know what I'm saying? We got other players that come
- 9:35in, and hey, we got to do that thing.
- 9:38The one thing that I've said in regards to this situation in this series, it's been tight games.
- 9:46Very competitive. Even the 10-point win against the Spurs in Game 1,
- 9:53it was a little competitive game. Game 2, you already know.
- 9:58Game 3, it was one of those games that it kind of feels like the score did not match,
- 10:06that it kind of felt like we were just more, especially in the second half,
- 10:10following the Spurs, we was kind of more catching up, trying to play catch-up, and we couldn't.
- 10:15So that's why I said, if there's one thing that the Knicks got to do,
- 10:19and remember, and go back, and yeah, obviously the Spurs is a different team,
- 10:23because there's a lot of youth in that Spurs team, a lot of energy.
- 10:28You know, these are not the Cavaliers that they have some of these good veteran
- 10:32players, but still, you know, a little bit up there in their age,
- 10:35and they might slow down a little bit.
- 10:37So it was easier for the Knicks to kind of, like, finish strong and just wipe
- 10:41out those teams, Milano, Philly, Cavaliers. Now, not with the Spurs.
- 10:47But what I'm going to say is this. We have to come to the second half,
- 10:53and we have to do what we have been doing previously.
- 10:56Just do it. It doesn't matter. I know that the Spurs is a different team, but just do it.
- 11:01You have to come to the fourth quarter with a 20-point lead.
- 11:05Now, obviously, in basketball, a 20-point lead might not be a lot,
- 11:09but we got to take them. We got to rip their heart out.
- 11:12We got to rip their heart out. We got to own that second half.
- 11:16We got to rip their heart out like eight.
- 11:19Because a lot is going to tell.
- 11:22If we rip their heart out tomorrow and we win by 20, I think the psychological game is there.
- 11:32Now, obviously, back then in the NBA, shout out, hit the like and the comment.
- 11:36And comment if you do remember. Back then, even in the 1994 NBA Finals,
- 11:40It used to be that when the New York Knicks, let's say, played the Rockets at
- 11:44that time, it used to be 2-3-2.
- 11:46So two games where Houston had the best record, three at Madison Garden,
- 11:52and the last two in, how can I say, you know, the Houston Rockets,
- 11:57the team with the best record at that time.
- 11:59So it used to be that four, man, and I get it. I get why they changed it.
- 12:02I think a lot of sports did that because I'm one to say, like,
- 12:05Why should you, as the second best record, should be awarded to play three games in a row at home?
- 12:13I know that they did that a lot due to scheduling, but, you know,
- 12:18time has changed. Listen, again, why should you, as the second best team,
- 12:25be rewarded with three games in a row?
- 12:27You know what I mean? Because a lot of times when a game goes,
- 12:30let's say, 1-1, You know, you went, let's say, with the Knicks,
- 12:34that it was 1-1. You called three games, Massacre Garden, and then you basically
- 12:38got home full advantage there.
- 12:40Now, the Knicks only won two out of three, and then, you know,
- 12:42Houston kind of finished it off six and seven.
- 12:46But you get the idea. We have to play strong on the second half.
- 12:51We have to finish it. We have to set a tone. And it's not even set a tone.
- 12:55It's just basically remind them, because the Knicks tend to have this switch.
- 13:00And I think that yesterday, their switch was like, you know what?
- 13:02I'm going to turn the switch to, like, the last, you know, five minutes in the
- 13:08second quarter and then turn it off and then just – the Knicks got this switch,
- 13:12and I hate that. And I remember –.
- 13:16How can I say it? I'm trying to think of this other team in sports.
- 13:22And I think, you know, even right now, if you're not a hockey fan,
- 13:25the Vegas Kings, right, against the Carolina Hurricanes, the Vegas team is a
- 13:31weird team. But, yeah, I believe they're the defending champion.
- 13:35And right now, I believe they went into game 2-1 or something like that.
- 13:39Correct me if I'm wrong. But the Vegas Kings, they only won 39 games or something to that effect.
- 13:46And I think every team that they play, the other team has a better record.
- 13:52But the whole point with the Vegas Kings is that it's one of those teams that
- 13:56for some reason they turn off the switch. They turn on the switch in the playoff.
- 14:00One game, they're going to look horrible. It's going to be 7-3.
- 14:04Then the next two games, it's like clutch, 4-3.
- 14:08One game, it could be done 7-3. So it kind of reminds me of that situation in
- 14:13regards to the Knicks and turning on the switch, let's just hope that the next
- 14:18two games, they link that. They leave that switch on and they'll turn them back.
- 14:24Because we need this. The city needs the championship. The Knicks need a championship.
- 14:30So you already know. Let me know who you think. Let me know what you think about game four.
- 14:35You got to set the tone. All I'm saying, we can be doing this every game.
- 14:40It looks like every game, every game. We either lose about double digits,
- 14:44catching up, then we start winning. We start getting hot, but there's a difference
- 14:48between when you're trying to climb here and once you're here, you're here.
- 14:53Because remember, the Spurs are still here.
- 14:56They're not playing that bad. They're not playing that great. They're here.
- 14:59So when you start playing this bad, you know, San Antonio is still even killed.
- 15:06Shout out to that young team. Wambi and them.
- 15:10But, you know, as a Knicks fan, we got to make it happen.
- 15:14Anyways, hit me up. You already know. Hit the like, subscribe.
- 15:18Please share. Talk to your peoples. Let me know what you think about this game four.
- 15:22Game three was whatever. Whatever distraction. I think that's like what I would
- 15:27call the OJ game. Too much outside distraction. But that's fine.
- 15:30We're going to make it happen. Game four. All right, kiddos.
- 15:34Holler at me. Holler at you.
- 15:36You already know. The Constructing Tower Podcast. And I'm out. Peace. Yeah.
