- 0:00Speaker 1: Welcome to the Boutleg Cavs Show. Special guest Reping Dreamville.
- 0:05Speaker 1: We got the homie Loots here. What's going on, man?
- 0:07Speaker 1: And we will start this podcast by explaining to you
- 0:10Speaker 1: what a Juggalo is. Please, So, do you know who
- 0:13Speaker 1: the insane clown Posse is? Yes? Okay, so that the
- 0:16Speaker 1: Juggalos are their fans. Their fans are typical. I feel
- 0:23Speaker 1: like I knew that already. But yeah, they get like
- 0:25Speaker 1: Hatchaman tattoos, and they're typically like pale and smelly. They
- 0:31Speaker 1: have like meth problems mostly. Uh. They were designated an
- 0:39Speaker 1: actual gang by the FBI. Yeah, so you know how,
- 0:43Speaker 1: like the Crips and the Bloods and the Hell's Angels,
- 0:45Speaker 1: the Juggalos are designated a gang through the eyes of
- 0:48Speaker 1: the federal government. Yeah, you've never been to an ICP show,
- 0:54Speaker 1: Yeah you get So they shoot two liters of fago
- 0:57Speaker 1: so into the crowd and everyone's just like it's pretty crazy.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Yeah that sounds nuts. We listen, man, Welcome to the
- 1:06Speaker 1: to the show. Appreciate you. Glad to finally have you
- 1:09Speaker 1: up here. I've been bothering an innerscope to have you
- 1:12Speaker 1: up here for I feel like a couple of years now, Yeah,
- 1:14Speaker 1: you got the album out now you're from Charlotte, And
- 1:20Speaker 1: I was just talking to Stunn for Vegas about just
- 1:22Speaker 1: North Carolina having a moment right now and Charlotte has
- 1:27Speaker 1: had We not Charlotte, but North Carolina in particular has
- 1:30Speaker 1: had such a just a crazy history and hip hop.
- 1:33Speaker 1: Because one of my favorite groups you got on the album,
- 1:34Speaker 1: Little Brother, is from there, Stunningford Vegas had no idea
- 1:37Speaker 1: who the Little Brother was. I try to explain it
- 1:39Speaker 1: to him, it'd be like that, No, I get like
- 1:41Speaker 1: the age difference. Yeah, but North Carolina is just in general, man,
- 1:46Speaker 1: it feels like there's just a dope wave and energy
- 1:48Speaker 1: coming out of the state, out of the Carolina is
- 1:50Speaker 1: in general. What do you think like special about what's
- 1:52Speaker 1: coming out of your region at the moment That everybody
- 1:56Speaker 1: don't sound like each other. I think that's I think
- 1:58Speaker 1: that's the beautiful part about it, Like we don't have
- 2:00Speaker 1: a distinct sound. I feel like, uh And I feel
- 2:03Speaker 1: like that's fire because you see how many, how many
- 2:07Speaker 1: different types of artists come out of either the city
- 2:09Speaker 1: or the state, right, So I think that shits fire
- 2:11Speaker 1: as well. Yeah, because like you know, you got like
- 2:14Speaker 1: obviously cold guys like yourself, and then you got the Baby,
- 2:16Speaker 1: who's also a lyrical monster. And then you got Stunnerford
- 2:20Speaker 1: Vegas who's doing like, you know, street ship, and so
- 2:23Speaker 1: I just think there's like a dope diverse like roster
- 2:26Speaker 1: of guys that are coming out of the city right now.
- 2:28Speaker 1: It's all the same shit, really, you know what I'm saying,
- 2:31Speaker 1: Like it's all the same shit, but like different genres,
- 2:33Speaker 1: different everybody talk about it differently. Yo, you put Little
- 2:37Speaker 1: Brother on the album, which is amazing. By the way,
- 2:40Speaker 1: if you're watching this, don't go stream Minstrel show or
- 2:43Speaker 1: the listening because fuck abb Records. That being said goes
- 2:47Speaker 1: into their last album. But how big of a deal
- 2:51Speaker 1: was like a little brother to you growing up being
- 2:53Speaker 1: in North Carolina? It was it was pretty big, like
- 2:56Speaker 1: especially just the way they did things and the impact
- 2:59Speaker 1: that they on Because how old are you? I'm thirty two, Okay,
- 3:03Speaker 1: so we're about the same age age. I'm thirty four,
- 3:06Speaker 1: So you were so you were like tap yeah, yeah,
- 3:08Speaker 1: so I mean yeah, I mean the the I mean
- 3:11Speaker 1: I remember hearing the listening for the first time. It
- 3:13Speaker 1: was like a moment, man, my friend's brother put me
- 3:18Speaker 1: on the listening and I was like, Damn, this is fine.
- 3:20Speaker 1: I'm like from North Carolina. It's like, yeah, they go
- 3:22Speaker 1: to Central That's fine. Yeah. And then obviously Ninth Wonder
- 3:29Speaker 1: just having a hell of a career as a producer
- 3:33Speaker 1: now as a professor, Minstrel Show was like which which
- 3:38Speaker 1: which album? Do you prefer? Minstrel Show or the listening? Uh?
- 3:42Speaker 1: The listening? Honestly, really it's close for me. I go
- 3:46Speaker 1: back and forth. Man, the Minstrel Show, I remember, like,
- 3:49Speaker 1: I think the Mintchell Show because I would like they
- 3:52Speaker 1: opened up for Dilated People's on tour. When The Mintel
- 3:55Speaker 1: Show came out, I remember seeing that that that like
- 3:58Speaker 1: live and it like just stuck with me in my
- 4:01Speaker 1: high school years, like seeing the Minstrel Show like that
- 4:04Speaker 1: album being performed live. Honestly, I got put on like
- 4:07Speaker 1: later down the road. I didn't get it as soon
- 4:10Speaker 1: as it came out right type ship, but when I
- 4:13Speaker 1: did hear it, I was like, damn, niggas is tapped in,
- 4:17Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. Like, especially in the era
- 4:20Speaker 1: where they came out and everything else that was going
- 4:22Speaker 1: on music, I'm like, damn, they like stuck to their
- 4:25Speaker 1: guns with the with they ship getting Fonte is one
- 4:27Speaker 1: of the greatest Fonte is that guy Fante sequenced the
- 4:31Speaker 1: album Wow. So talk about your relationship with Fonte because
- 4:35Speaker 1: Pooh's my manager? Wait, Raper, Big Pooh, Wait, how did
- 4:38Speaker 1: I not know this? I think he might have told
- 4:40Speaker 1: me this because he's been he's been managing for a while, right,
- 4:44Speaker 1: that's crazy, he yo, he told me that when I
- 4:47Speaker 1: saw them last, right after the last album came out,
- 4:51Speaker 1: Poo was telling me he was managing you. I totally
- 4:54Speaker 1: forgot about that, bro, Damn, that's crazy. So, Rapper, big
- 4:59Speaker 1: Poo is your manager. One of the nicest guys in
- 5:03Speaker 1: the just ever Nah, who's fire? Who's a fucking great guy? Man?
- 5:07Speaker 1: Literally my brother, no pun intending that shit's amazing. Bro.
- 5:10Speaker 1: I totally forgot that, he he because I had talked
- 5:12Speaker 1: to them right after I want to say it was
- 5:17Speaker 1: the end of twenty nineteen. It was right before. It
- 5:21Speaker 1: was like right after the album dropped. So yeah, now
- 5:24Speaker 1: he told me that too. Part two. Yeah, now he
- 5:26Speaker 1: told me. He told me that. I totally totally spaced it.
- 5:28Speaker 1: I'm glad you brought that up. So yeah, so you
- 5:31Speaker 1: got I mean you got Fontein and Pooh just in
- 5:33Speaker 1: your back pocket, so shit is lovely. No, she was fired. Yeah,
- 5:37Speaker 1: to be honest, when when they played the album back,
- 5:40Speaker 1: I really didn't know what I had at the time.
- 5:41Speaker 1: So when they played it back, I was like, Damn,
- 5:43Speaker 1: this is crazy. Shit sounds amazing. Yeah, you know, it's
- 5:45Speaker 1: it's crazy how important Like sequencing, it is very important
- 5:49Speaker 1: because honestly, I was just making music. I'm like, man,
- 5:53Speaker 1: I ain't got shit here. He was gonna put some
- 5:54Speaker 1: shit together or whatever. Like, I just didn't know what
- 5:56Speaker 1: I didn't know. I didn't realize what I was making.
- 5:58Speaker 1: Like you know, I knew the process. I knew my
- 6:02Speaker 1: process and what I was going through and how I
- 6:04Speaker 1: wanted to express myself doing it, but I had no
- 6:08Speaker 1: idea what direction, how I wanted, how I wanted it
- 6:11Speaker 1: to be. So hearing it all singles together with you know,
- 6:14Speaker 1: the musicians and all that shit, it's just like, damn,
- 6:16Speaker 1: this is so beautiful. Yeah, it's crazy because if you
- 6:18Speaker 1: think of like classic albums, like if the if you
- 6:20Speaker 1: moved around the songs, they might not hit the way
- 6:23Speaker 1: they Nah, it's about it's all about when you press play.
- 6:26Speaker 1: How that journey. But see that's how I am as
- 6:28Speaker 1: an audist. All my bodies of work, I want them
- 6:31Speaker 1: to be listened to from top to bottom. You don't
- 6:33Speaker 1: want people to just go listen to the single. You
- 6:35Speaker 1: want them to appreciate it all the way through, so
- 6:37Speaker 1: you get the story and you get everything, and it's
- 6:40Speaker 1: an experience. I want people to listen to my ship
- 6:42Speaker 1: and to be an experienced. Well, well, whose idea was
- 6:44Speaker 1: it to have Fonte help sequence? Was that your idea?
- 6:47Speaker 1: His idea, Pooh's idea? I was Pooh's idea. Yeah, he's
- 6:51Speaker 1: a I mean, yeah, man, he's I think he's probably
- 6:54Speaker 1: him and Sean Price. I think black Clock gets a
- 6:57Speaker 1: lot more flowers than both of them, but him and
- 6:59Speaker 1: Sean Price might be too morech slept on MC's ever. Yeah, now,
- 7:02Speaker 1: Fonte is hard and he could see his fucking ass on.
- 7:05Speaker 1: Fonte is hard and funny and ship and he's hilarious,
- 7:09Speaker 1: funny dude. I think he's writing for like like TV
- 7:12Speaker 1: shows or some shit. I'm not sure. I went doubt it, Yeah,
- 7:15Speaker 1: I went doubt it. What is something that because they
- 7:17Speaker 1: obviously got a tough shake, you know, with some with
- 7:22Speaker 1: some shitty record deal shit. You know what I'm saying, Like,
- 7:24Speaker 1: what are some of the things that like who is
- 7:28Speaker 1: kind of instilled in you to like, you know, apply
- 7:30Speaker 1: to your own career that he had to go through
- 7:32Speaker 1: first for you. Literally when me and Pool first start out,
- 7:35Speaker 1: he let me know, like, look, bro, this ship don't
- 7:37Speaker 1: happen overnight. Like he fucking instilled that into me, Like
- 7:43Speaker 1: this shit don't happen overnight. Like I know, you see
- 7:45Speaker 1: all the shit that's going on, and you see what's happening,
- 7:47Speaker 1: but it's it's a it's gonna take work, So you're
- 7:51Speaker 1: gonna have to put into work to get this ship.
- 7:52Speaker 1: And also how to manage my money better too. Yeah,
- 7:56Speaker 1: that was like one of the two things that he
- 8:00Speaker 1: to me in the beginning, like that, sh it's important, man,
- 8:02Speaker 1: like watch your money and at the same time, you
- 8:05Speaker 1: got to put into work if you want to really
- 8:07Speaker 1: really get someone. Because you know what I love about
- 8:09Speaker 1: poo is he was so transparent about like, Yo, there
- 8:11Speaker 1: was a point in time where I was driving uber
- 8:13Speaker 1: like you know, you know, and that shit is I
- 8:15Speaker 1: think that's dope because it unless rappers know, like, man,
- 8:19Speaker 1: this shit ain't always sweet unless fans know that because
- 8:22Speaker 1: most rappers have been in those vulnerable positions, but the
- 8:25Speaker 1: perception is that they're never in those vulnerable positions and
- 8:28Speaker 1: that they're always doing better than everyone else. But like,
- 8:30Speaker 1: what were some of the money advice things that poo
- 8:32Speaker 1: had kind of told you to like look out for,
- 8:35Speaker 1: basically like just not aimlessly spending money on dumb shit,
- 8:40Speaker 1: like you know, and when when you get business situations
- 8:45Speaker 1: like just spending money on you know, the things that
- 8:48Speaker 1: you need to spend the money on, and not going
- 8:50Speaker 1: out here and just buying dumb shit like chains and shit,
- 8:53Speaker 1: or like a car that is a depreciating asset, or
- 8:57Speaker 1: cribs with extra rooms that you ain't got no furniture.
- 9:00Speaker 1: That happens. I've been to so many houses it's like, yeah,
- 9:04Speaker 1: we haven't decided we're gonna do this room yet it's
- 9:05Speaker 1: just there. The boxes ain't doing at all? Yo, how
- 9:11Speaker 1: did you know the Dreamville situation I initially kind of
- 9:15Speaker 1: take place? Like what I love about Cole is everyone
- 9:18Speaker 1: he's ever signed, it's always artistic integrity first. And if
- 9:22Speaker 1: you think about Ari Lennox and like how he's built
- 9:25Speaker 1: her up, Like how like you said, nothing happens overnight right,
- 9:28Speaker 1: Boss is a perfect example. Right. You know, Boss has
- 9:31Speaker 1: got a record on the radio right now, and he's
- 9:33Speaker 1: built up that fan base over the last seven or
- 9:35Speaker 1: eight years. So what you know, obviously you being so
- 9:38Speaker 1: incredible as an artist, Like, how did that translate to
- 9:42Speaker 1: getting on Cole's radar? To be real with you, people
- 9:45Speaker 1: ask me that a lot, and I have no fucking idea.
- 9:48Speaker 1: Like I was working at Walmart and I get a
- 9:52Speaker 1: call from my friend and he's like, Yo, Cole just
- 9:56Speaker 1: hit me up and said that he fuck with your music.
- 9:57Speaker 1: And I'm like, bro, that makes no sense. Why the
- 9:59Speaker 1: hell will hit you up and tell you that he
- 10:02Speaker 1: fucks with my music? And this was the time where
- 10:04Speaker 1: you know, on Twitter you had to be following somebody,
- 10:08Speaker 1: So I guess Cole had found my music and he
- 10:11Speaker 1: I wasn't following them, so he found the closest person
- 10:14Speaker 1: that I was talking to, like the most recent person
- 10:16Speaker 1: I was talking to, and that was my friend, so
- 10:17Speaker 1: he did My friend was following him because he was
- 10:19Speaker 1: a cold fan. So so he just hit your random homie. Yeah,
- 10:23Speaker 1: he hit my homie was like, Yo, tell your boy
- 10:25Speaker 1: I fuck with his music? Tell him how to let me.
- 10:27Speaker 1: So my boy hitting me, you know, like, Yo, I'm
- 10:30Speaker 1: seeing like, bro, you're full of shit, bro, because it's
- 10:32Speaker 1: just nor I'm a homie, like wow, I would cold
- 10:35Speaker 1: hit you up about my music, and he just kept
- 10:39Speaker 1: hitting me about something like let me when I went
- 10:41Speaker 1: on my lunch break, let me see what the fuck
- 10:42Speaker 1: you talking about. So as soon as I add cold
- 10:45Speaker 1: cold hit me and it's like, yo, we have to
- 10:46Speaker 1: feel more this weekend, pull up and I'm gonna let
- 10:48Speaker 1: you know how I found your music and that's how
- 10:50Speaker 1: it started. What year was this? This was twenty either
- 10:54Speaker 1: twenty twelve or twenty thirteen. Damn, so this was this
- 10:59Speaker 1: was almost ten years ago. We're not gonna want to
- 11:01Speaker 1: say it was twenty twelve. So that was yeah, nine
- 11:03Speaker 1: years ago. Wow, that's crazy for ce double A. I
- 11:09Speaker 1: was like, damn, like that's nuts. So when people were like, yo,
- 11:12Speaker 1: how did how did this happen? I'm like, bro, I
- 11:14Speaker 1: can't tell you. I don't know. Is that friend still
- 11:18Speaker 1: your friend? Yeah? No, I'm still my boy. Amazing. Yeah,
- 11:21Speaker 1: that's the best. That's my brother. And so did you
- 11:24Speaker 1: sign with him right away? Nah? Nah? I literally signed.
- 11:28Speaker 1: That was like I said, that was twenty twelve. Twenty thirteen,
- 11:31Speaker 1: and I didn't get signed till like twenty sixteen, so
- 11:33Speaker 1: it took aimute. Dude. That's a crazy story. Now let's
- 11:36Speaker 1: talk about working at Walmart in North Carolina and what
- 11:39Speaker 1: kind of crazy shit you saw? Trash? Was this also
- 11:43Speaker 1: to scrap a couple of people? Was this a twenty
- 11:44Speaker 1: four hour Walmart? Yeah? It was twenty four hours. This
- 11:47Speaker 1: is not the Is this the Walmart? The baby killed someone? That? Nah? Okay,
- 11:50Speaker 1: not the same. It wasn't around that one, got it.
- 11:52Speaker 1: You gotta ask? That was actually pretty nice though, That Walmart? Yeah,
- 11:55Speaker 1: that Walmart, despite everything that happened or whatever, despite that,
- 11:59Speaker 1: that's the one that's fight the homicide. But that's the
- 12:02Speaker 1: one I go to. Like that's literally what it's like, yo,
- 12:05Speaker 1: for real, shit, Like, that's the Walmart you could go
- 12:07Speaker 1: to and not see thirty eight juggalos at two am. Well,
- 12:13Speaker 1: this shit's actually pretty nice, nice area. So that's your Walmart,
- 12:15Speaker 1: the one that's that's my all. That's the Walmart. The
- 12:17Speaker 1: Walmart you worked at was fucked up? Yeah I don't yeah,
- 12:20Speaker 1: I don't do It's not even twenty four hours no more.
- 12:21Speaker 1: You know what I like to like when when because
- 12:23Speaker 1: I don't think Walmarts are twenty four hours at all now,
- 12:26Speaker 1: But when they were fire, you used to be able
- 12:28Speaker 1: to a Walmart at three am, fucked up after the
- 12:30Speaker 1: club and there's people watch fire like yo, I want
- 12:33Speaker 1: to see who's shopping a Walmart at three fifteen on
- 12:36Speaker 1: a Monday morning. And you'll go in there and it'll
- 12:39Speaker 1: be like a fucking just four hundred and ninety pound
- 12:43Speaker 1: lady and a fucking scooter with a fucking dog fucking
- 12:48Speaker 1: eating out of her hand. She's got fucking Tostitos pizza
- 12:52Speaker 1: rolls in her fucking cart, She's got fucking cowmine lotion
- 12:57Speaker 1: for her knees. You know what I'm saying, it's fucked up.
- 13:01Speaker 1: What's the craziest ship you saw? Walmart? A dude came
- 13:04Speaker 1: through dressed like a Walmart employee fire and left with
- 13:08Speaker 1: like five TV fire. That's amazing. Was like, damn, why
- 13:15Speaker 1: you never think of that? Bro? He literally had on
- 13:17Speaker 1: a blue shirt khakis went to the back and was
- 13:20Speaker 1: hauling him out like you know, as if he was
- 13:22Speaker 1: helping somebody take the TV this while you were working
- 13:24Speaker 1: in your shift. Yeah, no one stopped him. Nobody stopped HM.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Because they thought he was helping somebody with the TV.
- 13:30Speaker 1: This is amazing. Yeah, So I'm like, yo, I gotta
- 13:34Speaker 1: I gotta think of that next time. Do you still
- 13:36Speaker 1: have your Walmart vests? Like in the closet, I'll have
- 13:38Speaker 1: the vest, but I still got the badge. Oh yeah,
- 13:41Speaker 1: maybe we run that play man. You know what I'm saying,
- 13:43Speaker 1: this rapsh it don't work out, We'll go to Walmart
- 13:45Speaker 1: and we'll still TV, get TVs and Ship and and
- 13:48Speaker 1: pizza and pizzazz yeah, pizza rolls. You know what I'm saying.
- 13:52Speaker 1: You said you once had to get into fights. Yeah,
- 13:54Speaker 1: I had to. I almost had to. I had to
- 13:55Speaker 1: get in like a lot of fights, to be honest,
- 13:58Speaker 1: almost about like what happened. Cause for me it's like, well,
- 14:02Speaker 1: I mean, you know, a job is a job, but
- 14:04Speaker 1: I don't need this job that much for you to
- 14:05Speaker 1: be in here disrespecting me and Ship. You know what
- 14:08Speaker 1: I'm saying, Like I don't talk to me. I appreciate that,
- 14:12Speaker 1: because you know what I hate is when you go
- 14:13Speaker 1: to Walmart or or anywhere that's like like a job,
- 14:17Speaker 1: that's like obviously you know, and people take the job.
- 14:19Speaker 1: So SI I hate like that when I worked at Target.
- 14:22Speaker 1: My oh you worked a Target too, so you moved up? Yeah,
- 14:25Speaker 1: well you think I did, but I actually moved down
- 14:29Speaker 1: because I was doing like the stocking and shit. Because
- 14:30Speaker 1: when I was at wal Moss Cash, oh you was on. Yeah,
- 14:33Speaker 1: you know what I'm saying. I was that nigga. Well
- 14:35Speaker 1: at least I thought I was. But then I want
- 14:38Speaker 1: to Target, and I was like stocking. So I'm putting
- 14:40Speaker 1: like noodles on this self and ship catch up. Did
- 14:43Speaker 1: you notice the aesthetically the human beings that went to
- 14:47Speaker 1: each place like provely different. Yeah, shoppers at Walmart and
- 14:51Speaker 1: Target shoppers, two completely different shoppers. Which ones are more
- 14:55Speaker 1: attractive Target? Okay, okay, I just want to make sure
- 14:58Speaker 1: that we're right on with the stereotypes here. Yeah, it's true, though,
- 15:01Speaker 1: It's true, right, it's very true. True, it's very true.
- 15:03Speaker 1: You get a more higher quality at Target. Yeah. Yo,
- 15:07Speaker 1: in North Carolina, the Walmart had to be like redneck central,
- 15:12Speaker 1: right it was. Yeah, it was a little mixed, a
- 15:14Speaker 1: little bland, Confederate flags, Nascar. Yeah, it was definitely like
- 15:18Speaker 1: up there where lots of cargo shorts. Yeah, damn, Yeah,
- 15:24Speaker 1: that's Walmart's a wild place, man. Though. It is especially
- 15:27Speaker 1: like when it was twenty four hours, So after twelve
- 15:30Speaker 1: because you gotta shut down and like kind of they
- 15:34Speaker 1: come by and like collect the money or whatever, and
- 15:37Speaker 1: then they like switch over to another shift. So after twelve,
- 15:41Speaker 1: shiit is wild. Oh I'm already knowing. I had a
- 15:43Speaker 1: twenty four hour wright my crip. Growing up, we used
- 15:45Speaker 1: to just go there and fuck with people. Yeah, man,
- 15:48Speaker 1: did you have a McDonald's in your Walmart? No, we
- 15:52Speaker 1: had a subway ship. I bet she was eating subway.

- 17:28Speaker 1: shout out to odd socks. Let's get back to the interview. Damn,
- 17:30Speaker 1: that's crazy. So you so you ended up when you
- 17:33Speaker 1: were when you signed in twenty sixteen, had you already
- 17:36Speaker 1: left like retail and you know, because I'm assuming you
- 17:40Speaker 1: met with going twenty twelve, kept that relationship alive. You're
- 17:44Speaker 1: probably dropping music. You're dropping music and working at the
- 17:46Speaker 1: same time, or like yeah, And then I ended up
- 17:50Speaker 1: getting fired from Walmart and I started working at the airport.
- 17:55Speaker 1: Oh that's rough too, Yeah it is. It was. But
- 17:58Speaker 1: when I started working at the airport, and my bread
- 18:01Speaker 1: was looking a little different, like the in between twenty
- 18:06Speaker 1: twelve and twenty sixteen. At a point I was working
- 18:09Speaker 1: at the airport for a minute and I had a daughter,
- 18:13Speaker 1: and I was like, man, fuck this rap shit, like
- 18:16Speaker 1: the money looking good, this is like a career for
- 18:19Speaker 1: me because I was feeling planes. I'm like, yo, I'm
- 18:21Speaker 1: I'm benefits yeah, hell yeah, all kind of benefits. So
- 18:25Speaker 1: I'm like, man, fuck, is rap shit like what I
- 18:26Speaker 1: need to wrap for? And I got a child on
- 18:28Speaker 1: the way that's a pop and airport too, Charlotte. Dougwarters,
- 18:31Speaker 1: it's cool. I mean I feel like I have. I've
- 18:33Speaker 1: had like seven layovers there. You know what's crazy though,
- 18:36Speaker 1: Like the one thing I loved about working at the
- 18:38Speaker 1: airport is each day it's never the same type shit.
- 18:41Speaker 1: You know, you work a regular job. It's like I'm
- 18:43Speaker 1: doing the same shit every day. Like every day was
- 18:45Speaker 1: completely different. You don't know what the hell you was
- 18:47Speaker 1: gonna get out there. Yeah, I feel like a lot
- 18:50Speaker 1: of layovers happened in Charlotte. Yeah, if you go from
- 18:52Speaker 1: the West coast to the East coast, sometimes you gotta
- 18:54Speaker 1: what's that biscuit place that's in the airport? The it's
- 18:58Speaker 1: like chicken and biscuits. It's in Charlotte. Is it called
- 19:02Speaker 1: You have to know this, You've been on the road
- 19:04Speaker 1: so much. Biscuit Ville. Now they have like breakfast, like
- 19:08Speaker 1: chicken breakfast, biscuit sandwiches. It's like a chain. Is it
- 19:11Speaker 1: starts to be bow Jangles bow Jangles? Oh yeah, yeah yeah,
- 19:15Speaker 1: that's the only time. I've only had it in the
- 19:17Speaker 1: Charlotte Airport. Word so you never had it like at
- 19:20Speaker 1: the actual chain. Oh man, Yeah, you gotta you gotta
- 19:22Speaker 1: do yourself for better service next time. You gotta How
- 19:27Speaker 1: big of a deal was it for you Coal and
- 19:29Speaker 1: Baby to be on a record together at that time?
- 19:32Speaker 1: It was fire, especially for for North Carolina, right, because
- 19:36Speaker 1: that's what I felt for me, Like at the time,
- 19:43Speaker 1: I felt like it was fire. But at the same time, like, man,
- 19:46Speaker 1: I'm in the middle. Don't nobody know what the fuck
- 19:48Speaker 1: I am. But that's why it was dope for you. Yeah, No,
- 19:50Speaker 1: it was though They're like, Yo, this guy, who's this
- 19:52Speaker 1: fucking guy loot? So I'm like, man, I don't know how.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I don't know how people gonna react to this because
- 19:56Speaker 1: I'm like, you know, you got cold, you got the baby,
- 19:58Speaker 1: and then you just got this guy in the middle.
- 20:00Speaker 1: But the responses was fired, like I loved it, and
- 20:03Speaker 1: then you got you got a Grammy nomination from that,
- 20:06Speaker 1: which is a fucking big deal. Were you there when
- 20:11Speaker 1: Chris Bosh was pulling up of beats? Yes, bro, that
- 20:14Speaker 1: was trippy as hell, like the coming around the corner
- 20:17Speaker 1: and you see Chris Bosh in the corner making beats
- 20:19Speaker 1: and ship and they were fired right, better than Chris
- 20:22Speaker 1: Weber's beats I've ever been, Yo. Fine, Chris Bosh is
- 20:25Speaker 1: fucking hey man. One of the biggest what ifs were
- 20:30Speaker 1: It's probably like top ten water if in NBA history.
- 20:32Speaker 1: There's some bigger what ifs. But so, yeah, so you
- 20:35Speaker 1: did you end up getting on any of his beats? No?
- 20:36Speaker 1: I didn't get on the beats, but the ones I
- 20:39Speaker 1: heard with fire as hell. Were you there when the
- 20:41Speaker 1: Bucks all came Yeah? I was there too. Wow. Yeah,
- 20:44Speaker 1: that was another moment where it was like, this is
- 20:46Speaker 1: random as hell. It's just hanging out. Yeah, just chilling
- 20:49Speaker 1: with T shirts and Bucks hats, munds and stuff. They
- 20:54Speaker 1: just brought you, guys, and food. They brought food. The
- 20:58Speaker 1: Bucks catered to a dream Bill session the whole the
- 21:00Speaker 1: whole day. Wow. Were you able to connect with anybody
- 21:04Speaker 1: on the Bucks at all at that time? Because I
- 21:07Speaker 1: was mad like dust off or Plus, you're probably a
- 21:10Speaker 1: Hornets fan, right, Yeah, I mean it's gotta be nice
- 21:14Speaker 1: to be a Hornets fan. Now that you guys look
- 21:15Speaker 1: like you have a future, I'll be honestly watch basketball
- 21:18Speaker 1: like that. Really Yeah that's fair. I really do you
- 21:21Speaker 1: watch any sports? I watched football? I mean, you know
- 21:24Speaker 1: you gotta Sam Donald leading the league in touchdown with
- 21:27Speaker 1: rushes right now? I like Sam Donald, he's killing it.
- 21:30Speaker 1: He is, he is. I mean we lost our last
- 21:32Speaker 1: two games, but my producer just traded for him in
- 21:34Speaker 1: fantasy football. Or yeah, n he's fire, yeah solid in
- 21:39Speaker 1: North Carolina. Man, you know, there's so much culture that
- 21:43Speaker 1: I feel like, like you said, Double A is always there,
- 21:46Speaker 1: we won't have it no more. No. I went to
- 21:48Speaker 1: like Baltimore, Yeah, moved right, and that you know, Baltimore's
- 21:51Speaker 1: not gonna who knows, we'll see it back. How is
- 21:57Speaker 1: like the reception of the album been in the small
- 21:59Speaker 1: amount of time to spin out. Honestly, man, it's been
- 22:02Speaker 1: really crazy. I was surprised because I honestly, I'm like,
- 22:08Speaker 1: I didn't know how this was gonna go. I was
- 22:10Speaker 1: kind of nervous to put this out because I never
- 22:12Speaker 1: put an album out or I never really did something
- 22:14Speaker 1: like this where I felt so exposed and I was
- 22:17Speaker 1: like mad, vulnerable, vulnerable, you know. So it was giving
- 22:23Speaker 1: me anxiety to put it out because I'm like, damn,
- 22:25Speaker 1: I just don't know how it's gonna be perceived, because
- 22:27Speaker 1: I didn't go in here with no intentions to make
- 22:30Speaker 1: bangers or a single or anything like. I just went
- 22:33Speaker 1: over I just want to in the studio invent it,
- 22:36Speaker 1: you know. So I didn't know how they was gonna
- 22:38Speaker 1: perceive it. And so when it dropped and saw I saw,
- 22:42Speaker 1: I didn't see the responses until so the album dropped Monday, right,
- 22:46Speaker 1: this was nuts. Album dropped Monday. I didn't see the
- 22:50Speaker 1: responses until Thursday because my phone had got fucked up.
- 22:54Speaker 1: Oh wow, right, so I couldn't swipe up. Oh I
- 22:57Speaker 1: don't see the screen. Ain'tnything. So I finally go to
- 23:02Speaker 1: Apple and I get it fixed, and dude, it's like, yo,
- 23:06Speaker 1: uh you loot. I was like yeah, He's like, yo,
- 23:10Speaker 1: your album's fire. I was like, yo, I appreciate it.
- 23:12Speaker 1: I'm glad you fuck with it because I can't see anything. Yeah,
- 23:14Speaker 1: He's like, oh, bet, like, let's get you squared away.
- 23:17Speaker 1: They did, and that's when I saw like all the
- 23:20Speaker 1: responses and everybody really fucking with the album. I thought
- 23:23Speaker 1: that sh it was fine. I think when you go
- 23:25Speaker 1: in and you purposely try to make a single or
- 23:27Speaker 1: a banger, it never works. Right. I didn't even I
- 23:30Speaker 1: didn't even I wasn't even thinking like that though. I
- 23:32Speaker 1: just literally went to the studio. It was just venting
- 23:34Speaker 1: and ship no that's the ship that cuts through. Man,
- 23:37Speaker 1: that's shit people want to hear. Like you said earlier,
- 23:40Speaker 1: like when you make a body of work, you want
- 23:42Speaker 1: people to listen to the whole body of work. You
- 23:44Speaker 1: don't want to be an artist like I always say everybody,
- 23:46Speaker 1: there's longevity and being an artist who puts out bodies
- 23:49Speaker 1: of work and not depends on hit records. You know
- 23:53Speaker 1: what I'm saying. I feel that because you could do
- 23:54Speaker 1: the heart like like get that heart, ticket money, get
- 23:56Speaker 1: the fucking get that following. Who will buy all your
- 23:59Speaker 1: merch will support or whatever you do, like and the
- 24:01Speaker 1: way you're gonna do that is just by being true
- 24:03Speaker 1: to yourself, bro, because that's that's what people relate to
- 24:06Speaker 1: for sure. You know what I'm saying. What was like
- 24:09Speaker 1: for you, Like, uh, you got some dope features obviously
- 24:12Speaker 1: causes on the album, You got some you know, obviously
- 24:13Speaker 1: alreads on the album. But what was like a feature
- 24:16Speaker 1: that maybe was like a little down to the wire
- 24:21Speaker 1: on this project or were they all pretty much? You know?
- 24:27Speaker 1: I say the most down to the wire feature was
- 24:30Speaker 1: BJ But it was like it was so fire though,
- 24:35Speaker 1: because like I'm hearing him, like, yo, I really appreciate
- 24:38Speaker 1: you doing this like so because I know it's so
- 24:40Speaker 1: last minute, but like y'all really appreciates you doing this.
- 24:43Speaker 1: And he's like, nah, bro, I appreciate you even reaching
- 24:45Speaker 1: out to me to do it. So slept on still
- 24:48Speaker 1: nah for sure. Somehow he's still slept sure man. And
- 24:52Speaker 1: how that shit worked out it's crazy, but it was
- 24:55Speaker 1: definitely down to the wire, like it was like super
- 24:57Speaker 1: last minute, are you gonna are you gonna? Like? You know,
- 25:04Speaker 1: I think with when we when we think of Call,
- 25:06Speaker 1: I think Call like always makes us kind of wait
- 25:08Speaker 1: right for an album? Boss is the same way. How
- 25:13Speaker 1: is like, now that you're you finally got this project
- 25:16Speaker 1: off your chest, do you plan on like getting back
- 25:18Speaker 1: in soon and like keeping up you know nowadays? Get
- 25:22Speaker 1: what you're saying, you know, I do plan on thinking
- 25:24Speaker 1: the baby. The Baby dropped like three four fucking seven
- 25:26Speaker 1: albums in two years. It was a lot, bro, It
- 25:28Speaker 1: was just a lot going on doing all that, you
- 25:29Speaker 1: know I'm saying. But yeah, now, because for me when
- 25:33Speaker 1: it comes to projects and like bodies of work, I
- 25:35Speaker 1: really like to take my time. Of course, live life
- 25:38Speaker 1: a little right, but I don't be meaning to take
- 25:40Speaker 1: like years ye, Like I really like to take my time.
- 25:42Speaker 1: But I feel like what people don't realize is like shit,
- 25:45Speaker 1: we go through shi it too, like life happens. Yeah,
- 25:47Speaker 1: So even though we don't intentionally or at least I know,
- 25:52Speaker 1: I don't intentionally mean to be, you know, dropping albums
- 25:55Speaker 1: at four years span or whatever, its just ship. I'll
- 25:58Speaker 1: be going through ship. Hey, and that shit that you
- 26:00Speaker 1: go through gives you more more content to write about.
- 26:03Speaker 1: I don't be mad about the ship that I go
- 26:05Speaker 1: through because I'm like any situation, whether good or bad,
- 26:08Speaker 1: especially bad situations. I'm like, Yo, this shit is fucked up.
- 26:11Speaker 1: But at the same time, it's gonna make for a
- 26:13Speaker 1: good song, you know. So I can't really be too
- 26:16Speaker 1: mad about the situation. I can't be really too down
- 26:18Speaker 1: on my luck because I know it's gonna it's gonna
- 26:21Speaker 1: come out to be a great song. Somewhere along. Have
- 26:25Speaker 1: you guys kicked around the idea of doing another Revenge
- 26:28Speaker 1: of the Dreamers? Oh, I don't know, I don't know.
- 26:32Speaker 1: I don't know. What I know that there's like a
- 26:34Speaker 1: lot of records that just didn't make By the way,
- 26:36Speaker 1: shout out to eb I those Hello records that didn't.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Why not? You know, we talk about sequencing. Eve did
- 26:41Speaker 1: such a great job of putting together up front to
- 26:45Speaker 1: back just press play, and that's so much harder to
- 26:48Speaker 1: do with a compilation, and I'm sure with like the
- 26:50Speaker 1: batchel of records that he had to choose from, And
- 26:52Speaker 1: then when you looked at the track list, you're like,
- 26:54Speaker 1: what the fuck is like? Oh no, no, what squap?
- 26:57Speaker 1: That sounded like on some Dreamville shit. You know what
- 26:59Speaker 1: I'm saying. But it was it was as hard, no,
- 27:01Speaker 1: what that's fire? As fucked hard? Yeah, yeah, yeah, No.
- 27:04Speaker 1: He's a great guy too. At that time, I didn't
- 27:06Speaker 1: even know he rapped. I was just so used to
- 27:07Speaker 1: seeing it. He's like he's like a meme, yeah and
- 27:09Speaker 1: like and like doing funny ship. But when he was
- 27:12Speaker 1: in there spitting and I was like, yo, he's fired.
- 27:14Speaker 1: Who were like if you had to, like, you know,
- 27:18Speaker 1: top three or four artists all time, odb uh ce
- 27:25Speaker 1: Lo and Biggie. The only reason why I say Biggie
- 27:32Speaker 1: is because like his flow is just Butter. We just
- 27:35Speaker 1: got a conversation about this. Butter. It's crazy. I think
- 27:38Speaker 1: the only artist I've been saying this yesterday, The only
- 27:40Speaker 1: artist who has ever gotten close to me? Feeling like God,
- 27:43Speaker 1: that was so buttery as Ross, like when Ross wraps
- 27:46Speaker 1: on some ship. So it just slides off the beat.
- 27:49Speaker 1: I don't listen to Ross like that. Oh you should, man,
- 27:52Speaker 1: Teflon Donn is a fucking classic. Not notice, but it's
- 27:55Speaker 1: just it's too slow for me. I get it. Nah,
- 27:58Speaker 1: it's crazy. So you said, Odie B se Lo, you
- 28:00Speaker 1: know what's crazy is the first time I ever heard
- 28:02Speaker 1: Celo was on I want to say it was on
- 28:07Speaker 1: a Quemen nine when I was a kid. But man,
- 28:10Speaker 1: his voice when he came in, it was like, who
- 28:15Speaker 1: the fuck is this? But this is when he was
- 28:17Speaker 1: rapping this before I even like. There's a song called
- 28:20Speaker 1: they Don't Dance No More by Goodie Mob. Yeah, nah,
- 28:23Speaker 1: and the way he came in on the end of
- 28:25Speaker 1: that record, it was like, who the fuck is this? Bro?
- 28:28Speaker 1: Goodie Mob is like one of my favorite rap roots
- 28:31Speaker 1: all time. So it's like, when I heard se Lo,
- 28:33Speaker 1: I'm like, Yo, this dude is fucking nuts. And then
- 28:37Speaker 1: when they did the Nowls Barkley shit, of course this
- 28:41Speaker 1: guy's no, he's a beast man. And I mean odb
- 28:44Speaker 1: is obviously I'm a huge wotank fan. So I feel
- 28:47Speaker 1: like we don't talk about ODB and definitely talking about
- 28:49Speaker 1: ghost Face gets love, Meth gets love about odib Man.
- 28:53Speaker 1: He brought a lot of character to those albums and
- 28:56Speaker 1: put out you know, one amazing album and and and
- 29:01Speaker 1: we're pleased with solid. You know what was like what
- 29:04Speaker 1: gravitated towards ODB Man just his style, like he just
- 29:09Speaker 1: he was very like raw. He didn't filter himself, you
- 29:13Speaker 1: know what I'm saying. It was no filter with him,
- 29:15Speaker 1: like when he went to the ship put out in
- 29:18Speaker 1: the in the limo with the with the food stamps,
- 29:22Speaker 1: like what like man if he was that's the type
- 29:24Speaker 1: of ship I'm on, Like, you know, just raw and
- 29:26Speaker 1: like true like he was to Can you imagine if
- 29:28Speaker 1: social media was the way it was when ODB was alive,
- 29:31Speaker 1: how fucking lit he be on his Instagram? Be fucking insane?
- 29:36Speaker 1: But I love that though. I love that about him,
- 29:37Speaker 1: and I love that about artists. I love when the
- 29:39Speaker 1: artists can just be like themselves and like be like
- 29:42Speaker 1: super true and super like unfiltered. So would you take
- 29:46Speaker 1: Goodie Mob over Outcast? Yes? I would? But Andre is
- 29:52Speaker 1: in my top five, like greatest rappers of all time
- 29:54Speaker 1: and Big Boy. People sleep on Big Boy too, like
- 29:57Speaker 1: don't give him his credit. But yeah, I would take
- 30:00Speaker 1: Goodie Mob over Outcasts? Okay? Would you? Okay, well obviously,
- 30:06Speaker 1: what is Soul Foods your favorite Goodie Mob album? Still? Yeah?
- 30:12Speaker 1: I had a conversation about that a couple of days ago,
- 30:14Speaker 1: but yeah, is it still standing there? Soul Food that
- 30:16Speaker 1: I mean to me, that was the probably the two
- 30:18Speaker 1: you'd pick from, right Yeah? Yeah, yeah, but soul Food, Yeah,
- 30:21Speaker 1: I think soul Food is. How about me? I ask
- 30:24Speaker 1: you like this, would you take Soul Food over any
- 30:27Speaker 1: Outcast album? No? Because a Quemini is kind of like
- 30:39Speaker 1: one of my one of my favorite that's the one
- 30:41Speaker 1: favorite Outcast album. You know, it's crazy when you talk
- 30:44Speaker 1: to Outcast fans. There's Quemini people and then there's at
- 30:46Speaker 1: Aliens people. By the way, I love both albums, right,
- 30:49Speaker 1: but there's people who swear by either one of those
- 30:51Speaker 1: is their best album. And I'm like, I'm an Equimini guy.
- 30:53Speaker 1: I'm on the Equimini train. Man. Then you get the
- 30:55Speaker 1: CDs and it's got the women on them. Oh yeah,
- 30:58Speaker 1: every fucking Outcast album had a naked bitch on it.
- 31:00Speaker 1: It was amazing. As a kid, it was amazing. And
- 31:02Speaker 1: you know what was crazy is when you had a
- 31:04Speaker 1: homie who had to get the album from Walmart. The
- 31:07Speaker 1: fucking CDs had fucking the titties blurred out. Yeah, yeah,
- 31:11Speaker 1: edited version had. I was like, oh, this is the
- 31:14Speaker 1: clean version album get away for me. The titties are
- 31:16Speaker 1: covered up. Wow, you appreciated shit like that, Oh my god,
- 31:20Speaker 1: because it didn't really go with like go anything. It
- 31:23Speaker 1: was naked women on the on the CD cover there's
- 31:27Speaker 1: a guy who makes rugs. I forget his name. He
- 31:29Speaker 1: makes like custom like CD rugs. Yeah, I think I
- 31:32Speaker 1: know you're talking about. I've seen and he did a
- 31:35Speaker 1: I want to say he did the Equimini CD or
- 31:38Speaker 1: no he did, he did, he did the leve Below.
- 31:40Speaker 1: But I was like, man, I wish somebody would do
- 31:42Speaker 1: aight Aliens with the like cartoon naked chick. Yeah no,
- 31:46Speaker 1: that's crazy. Yeah, okay, So I just want to make
- 31:48Speaker 1: sure you know, Quimini to me is like top five
- 31:50Speaker 1: album ever. So soul Food is great, but you know,
- 31:54Speaker 1: I gotta go with the QUMENI over over soul Food
- 31:56Speaker 1: for sure. I just feel like they were like with
- 31:58Speaker 1: soulful or just goody mob, you know, like they were
- 32:00Speaker 1: ahead of the especially how people are now with like
- 32:03Speaker 1: a gip you know what I'm saying, and being woke
- 32:06Speaker 1: or whatever. It's just like, bro, these niggas was think
- 32:09Speaker 1: about Gip and uh and and Andre just fashion wise,
- 32:13Speaker 1: like they were kind of like the O G Young Thug,
- 32:17Speaker 1: Like you know, when Young Thug was doing his ship.
- 32:19Speaker 1: I'm like, man, this is just some ship on sense
- 32:21Speaker 1: in a sense, I'm about just like breaking people because
- 32:24Speaker 1: you know, everyone you said think Andre was gay. I
- 32:26Speaker 1: mean he said it on the Quemini. Is he on drugs?
- 32:28Speaker 1: Is he gay? You know what I'm saying. I just
- 32:30Speaker 1: like the fact that he was just but he was different.
- 32:32Speaker 1: He was himself right. But again, I think about that
- 32:36Speaker 1: in the nineties exactly. That ship was looked way crazier
- 32:40Speaker 1: then because it was like, who the fuck is this
- 32:41Speaker 1: guy wearing wigs and ship? But nah, no, man, I
- 32:44Speaker 1: hope I hope Andre comes out of retirement. We need
- 32:48Speaker 1: one more outcast. The only thing is I'm afraid if
- 32:50Speaker 1: they do one where I'm afraid it would suck. I'm
- 32:52Speaker 1: not saying it would suck, but that'd be my only fear.
- 32:54Speaker 1: It's like what if it's not good? But then being
- 32:58Speaker 1: an artist, it's like I kind of feel Andre though,
- 33:02Speaker 1: like shit, I did what I needed to do. I
- 33:06Speaker 1: ain't really gotta the album of there. I'm gonna go
- 33:08Speaker 1: to fucking star Diamon. I'm gonna play my instrument. I'm chilling.
- 33:12Speaker 1: He's not even really acting anymore. I haven't seen him
- 33:15Speaker 1: in the movie Forever. I feel like he's chilling, like
- 33:18Speaker 1: he probably had it at a point in his life
- 33:19Speaker 1: where he's like, Bro, I'm good where I'm at. I'm fine.
- 33:23Speaker 1: I'm out here with my kids. Most steps, like most
- 33:26Speaker 1: steps like that too. It could you know, one of
- 33:29Speaker 1: the greatest artists want to reach out to me and
- 33:31Speaker 1: do whatever and link up and do a song like
- 33:33Speaker 1: I I'm totally down to do it just to get
- 33:35Speaker 1: that blessing. But other than that, at the did you
- 33:37Speaker 1: hear the Kanye song that was had Andre on it
- 33:40Speaker 1: that leaked? That was? Yeah? I did hear? How did
- 33:43Speaker 1: that not end up on Down the Man? Kanye tripping?
- 33:46Speaker 1: He is tripping. Kanye be tripping, but he'd be tripping.
- 33:49Speaker 1: But I'm like, bro, it's one of the best Andre
- 33:51Speaker 1: versus I heard in a long fucking time. I also
- 33:55Speaker 1: like how on thirty Hours he just had him saying
- 33:57Speaker 1: thirty hours Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's just fine to do that.
- 34:01Speaker 1: Life doesn't get enough love. That album is fucking crazy.
- 34:05Speaker 1: I actually was a good album. I love that album.
- 34:09Speaker 1: I was not a fan of Jesus is King Donal Solid,
- 34:11Speaker 1: but Jesus is King, I don't know. I mean, I'm
- 34:13Speaker 1: not a big religious guy, so I know. But hey, look,
- 34:15Speaker 1: so the album is out. I know you uh you know,
- 34:19Speaker 1: is this your first official album on Dream But yeah,
- 34:22Speaker 1: this is my first official studio. I know a lot
- 34:24Speaker 1: of people think that West nineteen ninety six Part two
- 34:27Speaker 1: was my official album, but that was just my mixtape
- 34:30Speaker 1: because you know, ship people call it. I was gonna say,
- 34:32Speaker 1: shit's dicey these days because everything ends up on DSP.
- 34:35Speaker 1: So it was an album, was a mixed d it
- 34:37Speaker 1: was a project, right, So this is the album. This
- 34:40Speaker 1: is the album. Yeah, when did Cole have any input
- 34:45Speaker 1: on the album. When he heard it, he loved it.
- 34:49Speaker 1: He told me you play, you know, But as far
- 34:51Speaker 1: as like how everything went, it was just me and Bro.
- 34:56Speaker 1: That's so fire that you just got fucking little brother
- 34:59Speaker 1: in your corner. We have to make the Little Brother
- 35:03Speaker 1: ja also Eve like Eve is again like when I
- 35:06Speaker 1: used to have like music and stuff. I'll definitely play
- 35:08Speaker 1: for music for Eve because Eve would let me know
- 35:11Speaker 1: if some ship was fired, like because I recorded most
- 35:13Speaker 1: of the album here in l A, okay, and then
- 35:17Speaker 1: I finished it up when I went back to the crib.
- 35:19Speaker 1: So when I was here and E was available, I
- 35:22Speaker 1: would play some ship just to see if E was
- 35:24Speaker 1: rocking with it. And if he was rocking with it,
- 35:26Speaker 1: I'm all right, this is cool. And if not, because
- 35:29Speaker 1: you know, I trust Eve's ear of music because like
- 35:32Speaker 1: he's got a great man fired with it. But but yeah,
- 35:35Speaker 1: other than that, like when I got back to the crib,
- 35:37Speaker 1: then that's when the work really went in with like
- 35:39Speaker 1: the sequencing and the musicians. Well we have musicians here
- 35:43Speaker 1: in l A too, but just getting everybody and getting
- 35:46Speaker 1: piece piecing it together. You have to bring Little Brother
- 35:49Speaker 1: and j Cole together on a record. This has this
- 35:53Speaker 1: has to be your mission for North Carolina's history. That
- 35:56Speaker 1: would be nuts. How this has not happened yet is
- 36:00Speaker 1: beyond me. Drake is on a song with Fonte True.
- 36:05Speaker 1: You know why I fucked with Drake off the Rip
- 36:07Speaker 1: because he had an interview like in like nine and
- 36:09Speaker 1: he said Fante was like one of his biggest influences.
- 36:11Speaker 1: I was like, oh, this guy's like a oh he
- 36:14Speaker 1: likes real rap. J Cole needs a song with who
- 36:19Speaker 1: and Fante bro for the culture, and you are the
- 36:23Speaker 1: guy who's gonna make it happen. You have to make
- 36:26Speaker 1: it happen on the next album, you little brother, Jay Cole.
- 36:32Speaker 1: That ship is I mean, it's historical. I'm just glad
- 36:37Speaker 1: we put a lot of respect on Little Brother's name
- 36:39Speaker 1: in this interview because one of the greatest rap groups
- 36:41Speaker 1: of all time for sure one thousand. So hey, man,
- 36:46Speaker 1: go get the album. It's out right now. Hopefully we
- 36:49Speaker 1: get a Revenge of the Dreamers for you know, I'm
- 36:50Speaker 1: sure it'll probably be in the next couple of years.
- 36:53Speaker 1: I would love that too. The last one did so well. Yeah,
- 36:57Speaker 1: it's crazy the level up too, because the first two
- 36:59Speaker 1: are kind of like under the ra are like just
- 37:00Speaker 1: kind of thrown out there for the further, like the fans.
- 37:03Speaker 1: But that third one was like, no, we're fucking we're
- 37:05Speaker 1: going on Gusta with this. Now that the third one
- 37:08Speaker 1: was was definitely one where it's just like, yo, that
- 37:11Speaker 1: was a time those sessions. I mean, I'm assuming that
- 37:15Speaker 1: there'll be a documentary one day, it has to be
- 37:18Speaker 1: just with those sessions. I just wanted to see Chris
- 37:20Speaker 1: Bosh making beats on the lap of Time. Two was
- 37:22Speaker 1: impactful for me too because uh still Slumming was on two.
- 37:28Speaker 1: That's why people heard it first. And I never forget
- 37:32Speaker 1: when that ship came out. I went to the closest
- 37:34Speaker 1: Best Buy bout like four CDs. I had two for myself.
- 37:39Speaker 1: I had one where I wasn't gonna open when I opened.
- 37:41Speaker 1: I remember day all day listening to that ship. Wow. Yeah,
- 37:45Speaker 1: that was Was that the first time you were able
- 37:47Speaker 1: to buy a CD that you like at Best Buy
- 37:49Speaker 1: with you on it, with me on it. That's a
- 37:51Speaker 1: big deal. Well at the time for me, it was
- 37:54Speaker 1: mad CDs because I was broke, but you know, buying
- 37:57Speaker 1: four CDs. There used to be a thing like where
- 37:59Speaker 1: like you go support artists like uh you know and
- 38:01Speaker 1: they I think there was actually j Cole. There was
- 38:04Speaker 1: a time where Drake and Jake Hole with the Best
- 38:06Speaker 1: Buy in New York and Drake bought all the Cold
- 38:09Speaker 1: albums off the shelf and it was like it was
- 38:12Speaker 1: like a thing. But now obviously shot the Best buy
- 38:15Speaker 1: man because they don't even have a CD. I don't
- 38:17Speaker 1: know what's going I don't know what's going on over
- 38:19Speaker 1: there with the Best Bo because I had to get
- 38:21Speaker 1: a USB for some ship, but they don't even have
- 38:24Speaker 1: They don't even have a CD. They don't have any CDs.
- 38:26Speaker 1: I'm just tripping on how they still got Blu Rays. Yeah, no,
- 38:29Speaker 1: that's it's nice too. Who the fuck is still buying
- 38:31Speaker 1: Blu Rays? Juggalos Juggalos for sure. Yeah, And that's how
- 38:38Speaker 1: we end things. We started with Juggalos, We're ending with Juggalos.
- 38:42Speaker 1: The homie loot. How many times you get called lut man?
- 38:47Speaker 1: What have you ever been called a nice lovely like
- 38:54Speaker 1: like lady, like Spanish lady from harnlute? No, No, I
- 39:00Speaker 1: ain't been here with the lute yet. Nah, though I
- 39:02Speaker 1: definitely get that ship. It's a loot. Ladies and gentlemen,
- 39:05Speaker 1: thank you for coming through, man, appreciate you bet yes,
- 39:08Speaker 1: sir
