- 0:05Welcome to The Hypnotist, the show that gives you inside
- 0:09access to cutting edge hypnosis with real clients facing
- 0:12genuine. Issues.
- 0:13Brought to you by the hypnotherapist, demanded by
- 0:16celebrities, CEOs and even royalty, Adam Cox.
- 0:20These recordings took place live from Evans Clinic in London's
- 0:24world famous Harley Street. So get yourself comfortable and
- 0:31enjoy today's episode of the. Hypnotist do you ever feel that
- 0:42in order to lose weight it has to be very stressful?
- 0:45Lots of pressure, lots of rules, eating food you don't like, and
- 0:50even then you've got to really battle your way through it.
- 0:54Adam here. And I was working with a client
- 0:56that really felt that way and they had attempted to lose
- 1:00weight on almost 100 different occasions.
- 1:03They did it from a place of stress and pressure and
- 1:06perfectionism. They would give themselves very,
- 1:09very challenging rules and standards that they had to
- 1:14follow. And if they didn't, then they
- 1:16would be very critical with themself and quite often because
- 1:20they couldn't deal with that shame and blame and low self
- 1:23worth, they would then reject it eventually and go back to eating
- 1:28in a normal way. And this in in almost ensured
- 1:33this almost pattern of attempt and then failure, attempt and
- 1:37failure. And there is a psychological
- 1:40phenomenon called learned helplessness.
- 1:41Whereas if you attempt and fail something enough times, your
- 1:44brain doesn't even believe that you can.
- 1:46In this hypnosis session, we actually start with the future.
- 1:51And they wanted to imagine themselves wearing jeans of a
- 1:54certain size and looking good and feeling comfortable in those
- 1:57clothes, and then working backwards and saying, right,
- 2:00there are two different strategies that could get them
- 2:03to that place. The strategy they've always
- 2:05done, full of perfectionism and stress, and a different one
- 2:08which is more aligned with progress and feeling natural and
- 2:14just making good choices consistently.
- 2:17And then they got to observe which one is more likely to help
- 2:21them move forwards. So if you feel that losing
- 2:25weight is a struggle and it's very stressful and you want to
- 2:27lose weight without the stress and the struggle, this could be
- 2:30a very useful session. Just be aware that some of the
- 2:34suggestions are entirely tailored to the client that I
- 2:37was working with and might not be quite right for you.
- 2:40So if you like the idea of using hypnosis to lose weight and you
- 2:44think I might be able to help you, there will be a link in the
- 2:47description where you can book a free consultation call to
- 2:49explore working with me and we can have a chat on Zoom and I'll
- 2:53explain how I work and what's different from just listening to
- 2:56these recordings. For now though, find a quiet,
- 3:00comfortable place, the kind of lace where you're not going to
- 3:02be disturbed. Relax and enjoy the session.
- 3:33Take a deep breath in, and as you breathe in, breathe in that
- 3:41resourceful feeling of calm and relaxation.
- 3:46And as you exhale, feel a wonderful sense of release, as
- 3:53if any tension, worries or stress is starting to leave your
- 3:59body. As you breathe out, breathing
- 4:05in, relaxation, exhaling tension.
- 4:09Each breath takes you deeper and deeper, relaxed eyelids feeling
- 4:21heavier. And scan your face and neck and
- 4:25shoulders for any clues of tension.
- 4:29And just giving permission to allow your body to release any
- 4:36feelings of pressure and stress and instead allow a feeling of
- 4:49ease, a feeling of freedom as you breathe in.
- 5:02Imagine breathing in a feeling of resourceful relaxation, and
- 5:13as you exhale, just allow any feelings or echoes of stress to
- 5:24feel like it's leaving your body, and imagine them as
- 5:30shadows or dark grey clouds just leaving your body as you breathe
- 5:38out. And because you're exhaling
- 5:43stress and exhaling pressure and breathing in that resourceful
- 5:49feeling of relaxation, each breath takes you deeper and
- 6:02deeper. Relaxed.
- 6:08As you breathe in and breathe out, your body feels more
- 6:13relaxed. And as your body relaxes, your
- 6:17imagination awakens. And I wonder if you could
- 6:24imagine staring into one of those crystal balls, The kind of
- 6:331A fortune teller or a Mystic may have.
- 6:40Consider that big glass ball a window into your future.
- 6:50And I want you to imagine a very desirable future.
- 6:58As you stare into the ball, you can almost see a hologram of
- 7:03yourself months in the future, smiling.
- 7:11I want you to imagine seeing a future version of you wearing a
- 7:18particular size of jeans That would be evidence of an
- 7:26emotional and physical transformation.
- 7:34I wonder if you can see yourself wearing those jeans, perhaps in
- 7:41a public place like a restaurant out with friends.
- 7:49And I want you to see what are the clothes you're wearing with
- 7:51those jeans so you get a sense of your body shape.
- 7:58But what's more important than your body shape is your
- 8:02demeanor. And maybe you notice how relaxed
- 8:08you look. Maybe you notice how much you're
- 8:13smiling, the way your facial expressions and body language
- 8:21gives you a clue that this future version of you is oozing
- 8:28confidence, smiling, laughing. See how comfortable you look in
- 8:38your own skin, a complete absence of stress, pressure and
- 8:45rules. And see that future version of
- 8:49you looking comfortable, relaxed, and just natural.
- 9:01But you can see that future version of you wearing those
- 9:06jeans in that public place, socializing with friends.
- 9:12Just imagine stepping into the crystal ball like you're a
- 9:17stranger in the same place now, seeing yourself the same way a
- 9:24stranger would look at you. And if you could see yourself
- 9:30with that same level of confidence, that same comfort in
- 9:40your own skin, smiling, relaxed. Let me know by nodding your
- 9:45head. That's it.
- 9:47And I want you to imagine floating up over that version of
- 9:54you and going back in time to see the timeline that connects
- 10:00you with that future version of you.
- 10:04And because this is just your imagination, just imagine the
- 10:12version of you in the present is being duplicated to create 2
- 10:20identical versions of you. Because sometimes the only way
- 10:28we can know the best way to get from A to B is to compare
- 10:36different strategies. And let's just say that first
- 10:41version of you can't make any mistakes, has to do it right all
- 10:49the time. That first version of you can't
- 10:56mess up, can't get it wrong. And I want you to imagine
- 11:01observing that first version of you has to count calories, has
- 11:07to do a certain amount of steps, has to exercise a certain number
- 11:12of times. And I want you to see the
- 11:15expression of that version of you maybe looking more stressed,
- 11:24maybe more pressured, maybe move more in a dialogue of blame and
- 11:33shame, genuinely feeling that everything has to be done
- 11:40perfectly, and just be the observer of that version of you.
- 11:52And that version of you still loses weight, but maybe does it
- 11:57with more stress and more pressure and finds it more
- 12:03difficult to recover from a set back.
- 12:10And if you can observe some of the challenges that that version
- 12:15of you would face, let me know by nodding your head.
- 12:23But remember, there's two of you.
- 12:26So let's imagine the other version of you doesn't need
- 12:31stress to lose weight. They understand that they need
- 12:38to be in a calorie deficit, that the more they move, the more
- 12:43they boost their metabolism. They know the need to eat good
- 12:48quality food. But beyond that, no need to
- 12:54count every single calorie, no need to follow rigid regimes.
- 13:03I want you to see that version of you in a more natural way of
- 13:10losing weight, choosing to have the best quality foods because
- 13:17you really enjoy good quality foods.
- 13:22That version of you sees progress as an energy booster,
- 13:30and that might be weight lost on the scales, a reflection in the
- 13:35mirror, or perhaps simply making amazing choices.
- 13:42But every time that version of you evaluates that they're
- 13:47making progress, it galvanizes their enthusiasm and energy and
- 13:54focus. I want you to see that second
- 13:59version of you enjoying the journey, enjoying those long
- 14:06walks, enjoying time in the gym, doing it with a level of
- 14:13enthusiasm, energy and fun. And that second version of you
- 14:24learns from setbacks. There is no failure, only
- 14:32feedback. That second version of you is
- 14:37very forgiving. If there's a set back, they
- 14:41learn from it, dust themselves down, and you can always tell
- 14:49that the inner dialogue of that second version of you is not
- 14:53full of harsh criticism, blame and shame, but encouragement,
- 14:59support, understanding, and in a pep talk.
- 15:05That no matter what happens, they can dust themselves off and
- 15:11start again with that new level of drive and enthusiasm.
- 15:20And let's treat it like a game. You're the observer, and I want
- 15:26you to see which of these two versions of you becomes that
- 15:32future version of you, looking relaxed, comfortable, wearing
- 15:37those jeans, smiling, oozing confidence.
- 15:46And when you know which strategy, which version of you
- 15:51is going to be more helpful? Let me know by nodding your
- 15:56head. And I want you to float down
- 16:00into that version of you and feel how it would feel to look
- 16:09at things that way. No pressure, just a really
- 16:19desirable image of the future that is tantalising.
- 16:27You like eating healthy, delicious food.
- 16:30That's no punishment. You enjoy moving your body,
- 16:37walking, exercising as you consider yourself like an
- 16:45incredible car or an expensive piece of machinery.
- 16:52You're not a museum piece. You were meant to move and then
- 16:59hear that in a dialogue right there behind your ear.
- 17:05Lots of encouraging thoughts. You've got this.
- 17:10You can do this. You love eating?
- 17:16Then you don't need to eat then. Not from shame and blame and
- 17:22criticism, but from support, encouragement.
- 17:29And just notice in this reality that you don't need stress and
- 17:37pressure to lose weight. There's only two things you need
- 17:44alignment with the strategy that works and consistency.
- 17:52And then just imagine living that way for several weeks and
- 17:57then you have a set back. Something happens that means
- 18:03that you didn't eat the kind of food you wanted or exercise in
- 18:09the way that you wanted, but instead of feeling like a
- 18:14failure, hear that in a dialogue.
- 18:18Don't worry, it's only a minor set back.
- 18:27Tomorrow will be fine, and if it feels that you can fall down and
- 18:36get up with more enthusiasm than when you fell, if it feels that
- 18:42this isn't a failure, just a feedback loop, perhaps even a
- 18:46springboard into even more progress, let me know by nodding
- 18:51your head. That's it.
- 18:56But most of all, notice the absence of that stress.
- 19:00The notice that instead of perfectionism, this version of
- 19:07you is obsessed with progress. Progress could be anything.
- 19:13A new recipe deciding to have slightly less of one thing to
- 19:23try. A new fruit, vegetable or lean
- 19:25protein to lift slightly heavier weights, to do an extra class,
- 19:35to walk a different route. It's all progress.
- 19:41It almost reminds you of when you used to play tennis for fun.
- 19:48Not to win, just to get better. I don't want you to imagine
- 19:55going on this journey, navigating all the difficult
- 20:00things, a stressful day at work, a big social celebration.
- 20:09Perhaps even the time of year where there's always more
- 20:14temptations, a Thanksgiving meal, Christmas dinner.
- 20:21And I want you to feel that there are so many ways that you
- 20:25can deal with stress without needing food, breathing a
- 20:32certain way, certain types of music, getting things out of
- 20:39your head and writing them down. Stress does not need to be a
- 20:46reason to eat. And if anything, you've learned
- 20:51that breathing well, moving well, and just moving forwards
- 21:02helps with stress more than food ever could.
- 21:07So imagine going through time, navigating those challenges,
- 21:13each one making you more resilient for the next, until
- 21:18eventually imagine trying on genes of a certain size and they
- 21:26just fit perfectly. Imagine the sensation of the
- 21:32genes on your skin, looking yourself in a full length mirror
- 21:38and making plans to meet up with friends.
- 21:43And realize that when you're at this weight, just as you didn't
- 21:49need to be perfect to lose the weight, you don't need to be
- 21:53perfect to maintain that new weight.
- 21:58Imagine having a burger or fries, even a pizza.
- 22:04But imagine feeling so confident in your own body, feeling the
- 22:09absence of that stress, feeling a sense of ease and natural
- 22:15feeling that you deserve to be this shape.
- 22:21And when you feel that way, consider this like coordinates
- 22:29to where the treasure is on the map.
- 22:33Now you know where it is, your unconscious will help you to
- 22:37find it. Because this future is your
- 22:41treasure and you know exactly the best strategy to find it
- 22:49sooner. No failure, only feedback, No
- 22:57perfectionism, only progress, giving your body what it needs
- 23:04in a way that makes the journey just as enjoyable as the
- 23:09destination. It's time to leave this future,
- 23:15but take back all of these strategies, thoughts and ideas,
- 23:20new ways of thinking, and even a new positive encouraging in a
- 23:25dialogue to replace one that used to be critical and full of
- 23:31blame and shame. So take a deep breath in through
- 23:36your nose and out through your nose.
- 23:42Wiggle your fingers, wiggle your toes, connect and calibrate into
- 23:46the here and the now as I now count from 1:00 to 10:00 to
- 23:54awaken you. Starting to count 123.
- 23:59Waking up 456 more alert 7-8. Open your eyes, open your eyes,
- 24:06910. Wide awake, wide awake, wide
- 24:11awake. Thank you so much for joining me
