- 0:21Speaker 1: great start. That is a great start. How well, first
- 0:24Speaker 1: of all, what's going on, Like, what's the latest and
- 0:26Speaker 1: greatest in Little Flips world? What you been doing? What
- 0:28Speaker 1: you been working on? And you've always got businesses you're
- 0:30Speaker 1: starting and all kinds of shit going on, right Yeah,
- 0:33Speaker 1: I mean that's that's all I do. Let's see, besides
- 0:38Speaker 1: being the owner of Exotic Pop, which is everywhere everywhere,
- 0:43Speaker 1: that I'm doing a lot of stuff in the metaverse.
- 0:47Speaker 1: I got a concert coming up in the metaverse August fourteenth,
- 0:53Speaker 1: and then me and zero we just got done with
- 0:56Speaker 1: Kings of the South Part two. I dropped Flip Madewell
- 1:00Speaker 1: of the I got a well, I guess I'll announce
- 1:06Speaker 1: it here. I got a show coming where we're going
- 1:10Speaker 1: to discover the next big thing like a talent like
- 1:15Speaker 1: reality show. Yes, yes, and we want the next you know,
- 1:20Speaker 1: like it's always one of ones, but legendary stuff. We're
- 1:24Speaker 1: not looking for regional, We're not looking for we want
- 1:27Speaker 1: the next stadium filler. What is what is the platform
- 1:31Speaker 1: it'll be on? Well, that's the thing that that's the
- 1:33Speaker 1: only thing that we're You're going to film it first
- 1:35Speaker 1: and then shop it around or well we we already
- 1:37Speaker 1: have things in place already. Yeah. Yeah, man, shout out
- 1:40Speaker 1: to King Lee, you know, my business partner. But we
- 1:43Speaker 1: got some stuff going. So the metaverse, the apps, the
- 1:46Speaker 1: Exotic Pops. How did you get involved with Exotic Pop? Well,
- 1:50Speaker 1: the other owner, Charleston, he's from Houston and he grew
- 1:54Speaker 1: up on my music. We grew up in the same area.
- 1:57Speaker 1: And he's like, man, I got the soda company thing,
- 2:00Speaker 1: I'm doing, what's up? And so I'm like, man, I'm down.
- 2:04Speaker 1: And so we just put our heads together and keeling
- 2:06Speaker 1: and the cool cup juice and we just been Yeah.
- 2:10Speaker 1: Because like any smoke shop you're go into or i
- 2:13Speaker 1: mean obviously liquor stores too. They're right because because Exotic
- 2:16Speaker 1: Pop quit me from more. You guys are given, like
- 2:18Speaker 1: artists their own sodas right correct, right, right right given
- 2:22Speaker 1: like other streams of income. We're some of the artists
- 2:26Speaker 1: that have their own soda. I know Mac Dre's got
- 2:28Speaker 1: his when I was in the Baby tried it. Yeah,
- 2:30Speaker 1: rest Peace, That's one of my favorite ones, the Bubblegum
- 2:33Speaker 1: restu piece of mac Dre Man. We did one with
- 2:38Speaker 1: Ryb Kardashian. We did one with Drake's dad, twenty one
- 2:43Speaker 1: Savage and Metro Boom, and we gave Sauce walking his
- 2:47Speaker 1: own water. I got cream soda and I have a
- 2:50Speaker 1: green Apple cool cup juice. Man. There's so many artists, man,
- 2:54Speaker 1: but the legends like DJ Screwed, Big Mold, Fat padd
- 3:00Speaker 1: like all the legends who are not here, Big Halt.
- 3:03Speaker 1: You know, we help their families with the money and
- 3:06Speaker 1: each soa that we sell, like on the back of
- 3:09Speaker 1: it it sayss like a percentage of it goes to
- 3:11Speaker 1: the community. So wherever the artists are from, we do
- 3:13Speaker 1: a lot of stuff with the community, with the kids.
- 3:16Speaker 1: And I'm actually putting out a mixtape August fourteen called
- 3:20Speaker 1: the Arti Freestyle, where I'm rapping over my favorite Big
- 3:23Speaker 1: Mo beats, my favorite Fat Pat beats, so I sat
- 3:27Speaker 1: down with Direct, the owner of all these masters, and
- 3:30Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, bro, you gotten cleared. Yes, I'm like, bro,
- 3:34Speaker 1: I want to wrap on these classic beats and put
- 3:37Speaker 1: them out and you know, so we talked about the beers.
- 3:40Speaker 1: But it's crazy, you know, because I feel like the
- 3:44Speaker 1: people who came before me, it's on me to make
- 3:47Speaker 1: sure while I'm still here that their names live on
- 3:51Speaker 1: you know what I mean, because they did so much
- 3:53Speaker 1: for me, and you know, nobody knows when we go go,
- 3:57Speaker 1: so it's on me. It's on Flip everywhere I go
- 4:00Speaker 1: to make sure DJ Screw, PIMC, Big Mo, HOWK Fat Pat,
- 4:05Speaker 1: like all these different people that are from where I'm
- 4:08Speaker 1: from that we hold to high regard the same way
- 4:12Speaker 1: people hold Big and Pop like or even like a
- 4:15Speaker 1: guy like Mac dra and the Bay exactly. So you know,
- 4:17Speaker 1: we just we go keep pushing it. How did you initially,
- 4:21Speaker 1: because I remember when you came out, the first thing
- 4:25Speaker 1: I remember was you having your own cereal with a
- 4:27Speaker 1: Leprechaun project, and then obviously it was like, oh shit,
- 4:31Speaker 1: there's this guy who's got his own cereal. I was
- 4:33Speaker 1: living in Arizona at the time, so I didn't know
- 4:35Speaker 1: much about the Houston scene outside of like rap a
- 4:38Speaker 1: lot and Scarface and obviously ugk they're from Port Arthur.
- 4:43Speaker 1: But uh, but in terms of like the screwed up shit,
- 4:47Speaker 1: just that whole kind of wave, I really didn't get
- 4:50Speaker 1: super hip too until you know, it really went commercial
- 4:55Speaker 1: and you know, when you and Mike Jones and Paul
- 4:58Speaker 1: Wall and everybody had their U their wave. You know,
- 5:01Speaker 1: So how did you like initially kind of get into
- 5:03Speaker 1: the game and like, I know, like nationally, was that
- 5:07Speaker 1: kind of like your first big look the Lepercun shit. Well,
- 5:11Speaker 1: the Lepercun was my first solo album. So the difference
- 5:15Speaker 1: is one of the other reasons why I called myself
- 5:17Speaker 1: for the Mayweather is because I'm born into music, just
- 5:21Speaker 1: like he was born into boxing. So a lot of
- 5:24Speaker 1: artists they started rapping and doing music as you know,
- 5:27Speaker 1: fifteen high school. You know, like if you're born in
- 5:31Speaker 1: my house, you doing music, gotcha? So I already knew
- 5:35Speaker 1: the industry. I sunk in the choir, wrapped the Italian shows,
- 5:38Speaker 1: used to rap, battle, played the piano, drums, learning the guitar,
- 5:45Speaker 1: was in film, acting class, etiquette, class media training. So
- 5:51Speaker 1: I was already ready for the industry Man and the
- 5:56Speaker 1: lepercun I put that out after I did a group
- 5:59Speaker 1: album called h and See what stands for Hustler stacking Ins.
- 6:02Speaker 1: But prior to that, I had a few other groups
- 6:04Speaker 1: that I was in that I started, and man, I
- 6:08Speaker 1: just knew if I had a person like j Prince
- 6:12Speaker 1: and rap a Lot by the way, free Larry Hoover,
- 6:14Speaker 1: you did ye, Like if I had somebody like that
- 6:17Speaker 1: as my mentor in my same city to study the blueprint.
- 6:22Speaker 1: So I just sit back, like, okay, just the way
- 6:26Speaker 1: you you market yourself, just the way you don't take
- 6:30Speaker 1: no for a answer. This is the way you invest
- 6:33Speaker 1: in your own money and time. You do it your way.
- 6:35Speaker 1: So seeing them come through, you know, clubs and come
- 6:39Speaker 1: through the neighborhoods, in the in the Double Lords and
- 6:41Speaker 1: the Roads Russes. Like since I was young and watched
- 6:45Speaker 1: Richie rich I already knew Rose Russes was for me
- 6:49Speaker 1: right tall on me somewhere. I don't know the Double
- 6:51Speaker 1: Lords right here, hellogo. But so I had the perfect
- 6:57Speaker 1: blueprint to watch out rap a Lot, you know, like
- 7:00Speaker 1: this man had a car a lot and then turned
- 7:02Speaker 1: it into like music business and you know, had to
- 7:06Speaker 1: get our boys everywhere and just different artists and putting
- 7:09Speaker 1: out these albums and coming to car shows displaying all
- 7:12Speaker 1: their cars and showing up to the shows fifty deep,
- 7:15Speaker 1: everybody all and black. Like it was just like a
- 7:17Speaker 1: big thing. So I basically was a sponge being able
- 7:22Speaker 1: to balance what I learned from my family, my dad,
- 7:24Speaker 1: my grandparents, my mom, and then DJ Screw then it
- 7:29Speaker 1: was like I was learning from Jay Prince as well.
- 7:31Speaker 1: So we put out the HSSE album, put that out,
- 7:35Speaker 1: Rest in Peace to Jason he died. He's on HSC album,
- 7:38Speaker 1: my high school homie. And then after that, well, when
- 7:42Speaker 1: we put it out, fans was like, man, we wanted
- 7:44Speaker 1: to flip solo album. Why would you put the group
- 7:46Speaker 1: out and you're the hottest thing in the streets. But
- 7:50Speaker 1: I've always been with them people that like to try
- 7:52Speaker 1: to bring people with me, you know what I mean.
- 7:54Speaker 1: That was how I was raised, Like if you have
- 7:55Speaker 1: more than the next person, hey, I'm not gonna sit it,
- 7:59Speaker 1: eat the stake and you don't have nothing, I just
- 8:01Speaker 1: cut my shit in half and give you half of
- 8:02Speaker 1: my stake. Like that's the type of person I am,
- 8:05Speaker 1: And so I did that and that was one of
- 8:08Speaker 1: the best decisions because it allowed me to record the
- 8:10Speaker 1: Leperate Cunt album. And what happened the first album we
- 8:14Speaker 1: put out, the group album HSC. We did pretty cool,
- 8:17Speaker 1: you know what I mean. But it was so many
- 8:18Speaker 1: people on the label, the amount of money that it
- 8:20Speaker 1: was making, and then I'm the marquee artist. It just
- 8:24Speaker 1: wasn't enough, right, and everybody wants to see me, right,
- 8:28Speaker 1: So it's like I'm like, but I still want my
- 8:30Speaker 1: guys like with me, you know what I mean. So
- 8:34Speaker 1: the Leperate Cunt album, I wrote half of it in
- 8:36Speaker 1: my freestyle half of it and half of that album,
- 8:39Speaker 1: like I was like literally still in the trap with
- 8:41Speaker 1: my homie Task resting piece of Task, that's my guy,
- 8:46Speaker 1: Like literally making the album, making plays, you know in
- 8:50Speaker 1: the front room, you know, with the shotgun, you know,
- 8:53Speaker 1: in the front room with the Nato the ak, like
- 8:56Speaker 1: literally making plays and in between playing you know, PLAYSTATIONE
- 9:00Speaker 1: and and writing raps and constructing my Lepercun album. So
- 9:04Speaker 1: I was able to really have fun and I can
- 9:06Speaker 1: do that. It was the single we put that ship out.
- 9:10Speaker 1: It did crazy? Did that come out on wrap a Lot? No? Yeah,
- 9:14Speaker 1: I partnered up with a guy named Hump and we
- 9:16Speaker 1: we we well. Sucker Free was like a concert. It
- 9:20Speaker 1: was entertainment company at first, and I partnered up with
- 9:23Speaker 1: him because he was one of my childhood I remember that.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I remember the Yeah, so my dad. He was one
- 9:28Speaker 1: of my dad's childhood friends. And I'm like, all right, hey,
- 9:32Speaker 1: let's turn it to a record label. You be the CEO,
- 9:34Speaker 1: I'd be the CEO. And so we put it out,
- 9:36Speaker 1: did well independent and a lot of people don't know
- 9:40Speaker 1: when you put out a double album and it counts right,
- 9:43Speaker 1: so like people like you know, Pock and Biggie when
- 9:46Speaker 1: they you know, they go down, but it counts to
- 9:51Speaker 1: it counts its too. So eight Ball, you know, one
- 9:55Speaker 1: of my trip, yeah, the triple album come Lost. So
- 9:59Speaker 1: I'm like, damn all, he got to sell us one
- 10:01Speaker 1: third of half a meal and he's gold you know
- 10:04Speaker 1: what I mean, Yeah, you know, to get the gold plaquet. Yeah.
- 10:08Speaker 1: So it's like and it ended up selling you know,
- 10:12Speaker 1: a million plus, so he ended up going triple platinum.
- 10:14Speaker 1: A lot of people don't know eight Ball Lost is
- 10:16Speaker 1: like triple platinum. That's yeah. So and in my mind
- 10:19Speaker 1: I'm like, hey, I'm a I'm a sponge, So I
- 10:22Speaker 1: studied rap a lot, I studied swave house. I study everything,
- 10:25Speaker 1: and then I implement my own, you know, final version
- 10:29Speaker 1: of what I've learned from everybody put that shit out.
- 10:32Speaker 1: So a lot of record was doing mixtape, a lot
- 10:35Speaker 1: of records mixtape mixtapes pulling out. Everybody was like, why
- 10:38Speaker 1: are you rapping on these beats and putting them out?
- 10:40Speaker 1: You should focus on real stuff. I'm like, Nah, this
- 10:43Speaker 1: is what DJ Screw taught me, this is where I
- 10:45Speaker 1: come from. So people started seeing. We would pull up
- 10:48Speaker 1: the towns and we picking up show money, and hell,
- 10:52Speaker 1: I'm picking up mixtape money. The mixtape money, hell, at
- 10:56Speaker 1: times was two times more than the show money. So
- 10:59Speaker 1: I'm dropping off boxes five. You're just like dropping off
- 11:02Speaker 1: at the local spots. Music Mania was a spot in Austin,
- 11:06Speaker 1: crazy place. It was record store, Yes, bro, right next
- 11:10Speaker 1: to active athlete, and Bro, I pull up cash out
- 11:15Speaker 1: fifteen K here, twenty K here, damn yeah, come back
- 11:20Speaker 1: to Austin three months later. By that time, I got
- 11:23Speaker 1: a new mixtape out repeat. So I had a place
- 11:26Speaker 1: in Austin, a place in Dallas, t Time Music, a
- 11:30Speaker 1: place in Tyler. Wow. Those were like my main three
- 11:34Speaker 1: hubs of where I knew I could go pick up
- 11:36Speaker 1: five k here, ten k here, dropping off some products.
- 11:39Speaker 1: B It was the easiest shit. And so I'm like,
- 11:41Speaker 1: y'all calling me stupid, but y'all wondering how I'm selling
- 11:45Speaker 1: all these records and how everybody wants to see me
- 11:47Speaker 1: is because I'm just giving this shit away. Sometimes we
- 11:51Speaker 1: were selling them as well, so like at the to
- 11:54Speaker 1: the retail people, I would selling them to them, but
- 11:56Speaker 1: at the concepts, I would give them away right that.
- 12:00Speaker 1: It's crazy. Hey, those are the good old days though, man. Yeah,
- 12:03Speaker 1: when you could sell so you could just pull up
- 12:05Speaker 1: and have like a relationship with the owner of a
- 12:07Speaker 1: record store and you know he believe in what you're doing,
- 12:10Speaker 1: and then you turn that into instant monetary. It's crazy
- 12:17Speaker 1: with the streaming shit, is hey, we got to stop
- 12:19Speaker 1: the interview real quick to tell you about our partners,
- 12:21Speaker 1: our family at odd socks. Go to odd socksofficial dot
- 12:25Speaker 1: com right now and the promo code bootleg keV. It'll
- 12:28Speaker 1: get you twenty percent off the fly of socks in
- 12:31Speaker 1: the world. Fucking SpongeBob, fucking cheese. It's a little bit
- 12:36Speaker 1: of PEPSI how about some underwear? Do we like underwear?
- 12:40Speaker 1: Et boxers. Let's go ahead and just open up a
- 12:42Speaker 1: pair of these boys so you can see how fly
- 12:45Speaker 1: the draws are, ladies and gentlemen because they are fly
- 12:47Speaker 1: by the way. They just gave me my own pair
- 12:48Speaker 1: of odd socks. Go on my social media and you
- 12:50Speaker 1: can see them. I don't know if they're going to
- 12:52Speaker 1: be for sale, because let's be honest, who wants to
- 12:56Speaker 1: wear socks with my fucking ugly face on them? Besides
- 12:58Speaker 1: my wife and she don't even want to wear them.
- 13:00Speaker 1: There we goo, they got the draws. They got it all. Man,
- 13:05Speaker 1: get the odd socks basics, which I love, just the
- 13:07Speaker 1: basic boys. These are amazing comfy socks. Odd socksofficial dot com.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Use the promo code Bootleg Cavs save twenty percent off.
- 13:14Speaker 1: Let's get back to the interview. Have you had any
- 13:16Speaker 1: issues like adjusting to the streaming world or do you
- 13:19Speaker 1: feel like it benefits artists like you that's independent that
- 13:22Speaker 1: can just kind of drop freely if you will. Man,
- 13:26Speaker 1: I'm one of them people like this bro. I'm like,
- 13:30Speaker 1: I'm not a stuck in my ways type of king,
- 13:32Speaker 1: right I hustle, the dinosaur way, the modern way, and
- 13:39Speaker 1: the future way. So it I mean, I love it.
- 13:42Speaker 1: I just embrace it. I still press up my physical
- 13:44Speaker 1: copies and my wax for the DJs that like wax
- 13:47Speaker 1: and wax sales for pretty good money these days. So yeah,
- 13:50Speaker 1: people still buy vinyl. It's like almost like as a collector,
- 13:53Speaker 1: they'd almost rather buy the vinyl than the CD because
- 13:56Speaker 1: it feels like there's people buying vinyl don't even have
- 13:59Speaker 1: a turned able to play it on the agreed agreed,
- 14:03Speaker 1: And so yeah, that's that's where I'm at. And then
- 14:07Speaker 1: like the things with the streams, you know, like like
- 14:09Speaker 1: I say, the only downfall to the stream you know,
- 14:13Speaker 1: like I'm not I'm not one of the OG haters,
- 14:15Speaker 1: Like uh, I'm like I fuck with the new cats,
- 14:18Speaker 1: the new artists. You know. My only concern with the
- 14:21Speaker 1: streams is like this, how I compare it? Right? I
- 14:23Speaker 1: compared a stream to this. You know how back in
- 14:26Speaker 1: the days, you could go to a music store and
- 14:28Speaker 1: listen to a whole album, right, you can chamit whatever whatever.
- 14:34Speaker 1: If you didn't buy it, you didn't get that sale, right,
- 14:38Speaker 1: Like the artists didn't get that sale. So if you
- 14:41Speaker 1: go to a car lot and you test drive a
- 14:44Speaker 1: car and you don't buy it. The guy who's selling
- 14:48Speaker 1: the car doesn't get credit for you test driving the car.
- 14:52Speaker 1: He gets credit for yourself. So just the way that
- 14:54Speaker 1: they converted to like you have this many streams, this
- 14:57Speaker 1: means you're a platinum, but a sample to me is
- 15:02Speaker 1: still it's like you can't lower the goal post. It's
- 15:05Speaker 1: how I look at it, no matter what, no matter what. Right,
- 15:08Speaker 1: like any other business, if you sell pizza, if you
- 15:11Speaker 1: only sell twenty pizzas, man, you only sold twenty pizzas well,
- 15:15Speaker 1: if you think about it, like with the playlist world,
- 15:17Speaker 1: it's like you might throw a new playlist on that
- 15:19Speaker 1: Spotify feed you whether it's like rap Caaba or whatever,
- 15:22Speaker 1: and even if the song plays for thirty seconds, you
- 15:24Speaker 1: don't fuck with you hit next on the playlist still
- 15:26Speaker 1: counts as a stream, right, So it's it's like a
- 15:31Speaker 1: sometimes a person that's able to be like, oh yeah,
- 15:34Speaker 1: I went flatten them. I got this many streams, and
- 15:37Speaker 1: it creates a big head. Also, like you'll really know
- 15:41Speaker 1: if it's working if you can sell hard tickets. Correct,
- 15:45Speaker 1: because there's a lot of these artists who stream big numbers,
- 15:47Speaker 1: but they can't go on tour. Yeah. So it's so
- 15:50Speaker 1: it's so like I'm like on the fence with like
- 15:53Speaker 1: just like one hundred percent, Like, oh, I love it.
- 15:55Speaker 1: Like it's dope that people all around the world can
- 15:57Speaker 1: hear your music from the push up of button and
- 16:00Speaker 1: you can also upload ship exactly button, so it's coxactly.
- 16:04Speaker 1: Back in the day, you had to go press up CDs,
- 16:06Speaker 1: find distribution right to get like your ship all over
- 16:09Speaker 1: the country in a record store. Agreed, man, So now
- 16:11Speaker 1: it's like I just hit it. There's no middle man. Yeah.
- 16:14Speaker 1: So like I embraced it. I'm one of them people.
- 16:17Speaker 1: I adapt. Man, what's going on? You know? Plex? Like
- 16:20Speaker 1: I love I love like in my house and my studios,
- 16:23Speaker 1: I got PLEX and stuff on the wall that just
- 16:26Speaker 1: inspires me. Man, you know what I mean? So I
- 16:29Speaker 1: fuck with this setup? Man? You uh, the first like,
- 16:33Speaker 1: like I guess you're kind of coming out party, would
- 16:35Speaker 1: you say, would be like underground legend in terms of
- 16:37Speaker 1: just like commercially national correct? What was it was? Game
- 16:42Speaker 1: over on that game Over was on the next album. Right,
- 16:45Speaker 1: you gotta feel me? The way we ball was the
- 16:47Speaker 1: first to feel me was crazy this is the way. Yeah,
- 16:49Speaker 1: I forgot about the way one video multi platinum off
- 16:52Speaker 1: one video. That's fucking crazy because was that a double album? Yeah?
- 16:57Speaker 1: All my albums a double albums. I remember it most
- 17:00Speaker 1: of the time. What was the album where you were
- 17:02Speaker 1: like kind of like in black on the cover it
- 17:04Speaker 1: came out The Game Over remix was on there. I
- 17:06Speaker 1: want to say, mind that shit was there was a
- 17:08Speaker 1: record on there, fuck that I loved because I know
- 17:11Speaker 1: that like that was kind of there wasn't like a
- 17:15Speaker 1: super smash on that album, was there. I wouldn't say
- 17:19Speaker 1: it was a super sm There was a record on
- 17:21Speaker 1: that project that I fucking loved. Yeah, it was like
- 17:23Speaker 1: I think I put what it Do was on there
- 17:25Speaker 1: with many fresh and yeah we put we put a
- 17:27Speaker 1: little money behind it, but we didn't go in mind
- 17:30Speaker 1: there was a couple of records on there that I loved,
- 17:32Speaker 1: and that was a part right there. I was actually
- 17:34Speaker 1: like transitioning leaving the label. So one That's why it's
- 17:38Speaker 1: like a version where it's one cover of me standing
- 17:41Speaker 1: in front of black and then it's one version when
- 17:44Speaker 1: I went to one of the brothers, I'm holding some
- 17:47Speaker 1: money or some quick shit. I didn't really like that cover,
- 17:49Speaker 1: but I put on the cover Free Zero, So that's
- 17:53Speaker 1: what I was pushing, you know, so welcome home Zero.
- 17:57Speaker 1: He been home for me for a while. Yeah yeah,
- 17:59Speaker 1: but I that They were like, you're gonna put free
- 18:03Speaker 1: Somebody on your album cover. I'm like, yeah, this is yeah, yeah,
- 18:08Speaker 1: well this was Sony No, no, no, this was Warner.
- 18:11Speaker 1: This was one of just one person. One person asked me,
- 18:13Speaker 1: and I was like, yeah, like it's not a mixed listen.
- 18:18Speaker 1: I know what I'm doing. Like see, I never let
- 18:21Speaker 1: a person like tell me what I can I can't do,
- 18:26Speaker 1: especially when it comes to art. I'm one of those
- 18:28Speaker 1: people though, I will listen to your opinion, like I
- 18:30Speaker 1: will listen. I'm like, I'm a That doesn't mean I
- 18:33Speaker 1: have to take it, but I will acknowledge it and
- 18:35Speaker 1: if it makes sense to me. I'm a rock with
- 18:37Speaker 1: and that's how I got open to input, helping information.
- 18:40Speaker 1: That's how I got where I'm at. Yo. There was
- 18:42Speaker 1: a period of time where you were popping up on
- 18:45Speaker 1: a lot of June radio shit the mixtapes back in
- 18:48Speaker 1: the day. Was there ever any conversations where fifty was
- 18:51Speaker 1: trying to sign you to JUnit Man, me and fifty
- 18:54Speaker 1: We talked about doing some business a few times. It
- 18:58Speaker 1: never like happened, like I think, mainly due to like
- 19:02Speaker 1: scheduling and stuff. But we didn't specifically talk like I'm
- 19:06Speaker 1: signing to because see, no matter if I'm on TV
- 19:11Speaker 1: or not, like I'm I came in this industry as
- 19:14Speaker 1: a CEO, So if I would ever do a deal
- 19:16Speaker 1: with another artist, it would be a joint picture. It
- 19:19Speaker 1: would be a partnership. I'll never ever be under anybody
- 19:24Speaker 1: and never have every album I ever put out. I
- 19:27Speaker 1: was a CEO, so I was already taught as a kid.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Come in a game of ceo, be an artist. Don't
- 19:32Speaker 1: let people tell you, Oh, you should just focus on
- 19:36Speaker 1: the music part and let us talk for you. And
- 19:38Speaker 1: know that's how you get robbed. That's how lawyers put bruh.
- 19:43Speaker 1: That's how lawyers man finess you out of bread, especially
- 19:46Speaker 1: the lawyers that like are suggested to you by the
- 19:49Speaker 1: people you're signing to. Oh you don't have a good lawyer,
- 19:51Speaker 1: We got one for you, yeah, bro, the motherfuckers. So
- 19:55Speaker 1: I'm gonna talk for myself. I get to done. I
- 19:58Speaker 1: get the deal done way quicker when I talk for myself.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Did you ever have a situation where you got into
- 20:02Speaker 1: a shitty deal like early on, like whether it was
- 20:04Speaker 1: the Sony or the Warner situation, because back in the day,
- 20:06Speaker 1: those major label deals were fucking treacherous. Thank you. I
- 20:10Speaker 1: never got into a shitty deal. I've been in some
- 20:13Speaker 1: deals where I got what I wanted or got what
- 20:16Speaker 1: I asked for it, but I looked out for somebody
- 20:19Speaker 1: out of what I got, only to find out later
- 20:22Speaker 1: that they had got a separate bag for themselves as well.
- 20:26Speaker 1: So they dipped in the pay, they double dip, But
- 20:28Speaker 1: I still got what I want because at the end
- 20:31Speaker 1: of the day, I think like a hustler. I get
- 20:34Speaker 1: paid to talk, seen make words, rhyme, come up with
- 20:38Speaker 1: witty shit, make a motherfucker say wow. It's people that
- 20:41Speaker 1: talk all day, don't that don't get paid for it.
- 20:44Speaker 1: So I look at it like this, br Any amount
- 20:47Speaker 1: of money that a motherfucker go pay me just a
- 20:49Speaker 1: talk is a win. Now, when we go to my
- 20:51Speaker 1: accolades and what I've accomplished, I know how to find
- 20:54Speaker 1: the medium of I know how to negotiate. My dad
- 20:57Speaker 1: was a master car salesman, so I know how to
- 20:59Speaker 1: play a s I know how to play a wolf
- 21:01Speaker 1: because at the end of the day, I'm a hustler.
- 21:02Speaker 1: So at the end of the day, almost any amount
- 21:05Speaker 1: of money that's respectful, respectable, it's not getting fucked over,
- 21:09Speaker 1: you see what I'm saying. But yeah, I've always known
- 21:14Speaker 1: how to speak my mind because I grew up around
- 21:16Speaker 1: older people. I'm I'm the youngest and the screwed up Click.
- 21:19Speaker 1: But I'm not afraid to speak my mind. If a
- 21:21Speaker 1: OG or somebody did something to me that I felt
- 21:24Speaker 1: like they slighted me and it was wrong, I'm gonna
- 21:26Speaker 1: address it now. I know how to approach it respectful.
- 21:29Speaker 1: You see what I'm saying. I'm not a reckless you know,
- 21:32Speaker 1: g and no shit like that. But I'm not afraid
- 21:34Speaker 1: to speak my mind. And I'm a very honorable person.
- 21:38Speaker 1: When being from screwed up Click, and I kind of
- 21:40Speaker 1: feel like you were a little bit ahead, slightly ahead
- 21:45Speaker 1: of the of the of the kind of like h
- 21:48Speaker 1: town national craze. I kind of feel like you were
- 21:51Speaker 1: like probably the first dude in that class of like
- 21:55Speaker 1: of your peers that really popped correct. I'm talking like obviously,
- 21:59Speaker 1: you know, the millionaires of Paul Walls, you were kind
- 22:01Speaker 1: of first. I was first, Yeah, I was. I was
- 22:05Speaker 1: the first person like out of that wave. You know,
- 22:08Speaker 1: we had LaTroy he went platinum rightly in terms of
- 22:12Speaker 1: just the I feel like era, yeah, yeah, but I
- 22:15Speaker 1: was just saying, you know, yeah, we had that like
- 22:19Speaker 1: right before like the ship started going on, you know.
- 22:23Speaker 1: But yeah, yeah, definitely, I was. I was first. Was
- 22:26Speaker 1: there ever any Was there ever any like because Swisher
- 22:30Speaker 1: House had kind of you know, uh, Michael five thousand
- 22:34Speaker 1: wats was chopping and screwing ship as well? Was there
- 22:36Speaker 1: ever any sort of static between the screwed up ship
- 22:39Speaker 1: and the Swisher House ship? It was? Well? And it
- 22:42Speaker 1: like because obviously everyone ends up on that Source cover, right,
- 22:45Speaker 1: which was a crazy cover right right, the don't mess
- 22:48Speaker 1: with textics. Everybody and their mom was on that cover, right,
- 22:53Speaker 1: But uh did that like like like, what was what
- 22:56Speaker 1: was like your take on like seeing Swisher House come
- 22:58Speaker 1: out and kind of obviously, you know, DJ screw started
- 23:01Speaker 1: chopping and screwing shit, but it also was like a
- 23:03Speaker 1: Houston thing as much as it was his thing that
- 23:06Speaker 1: he created, you know, but what what was your take
- 23:09Speaker 1: on the Swisher House movement? You know, kind of being
- 23:12Speaker 1: on the other side of things. I'm in a screwed
- 23:15Speaker 1: up click, so like I'm an understandable person, you know
- 23:19Speaker 1: what I mean. So a lot of members was like,
- 23:22Speaker 1: oh shit, what is that? What's going on? That're doing
- 23:24Speaker 1: what we're doing? And my whole take, I just felt like,
- 23:28Speaker 1: hey man, we inspired some people to do what they do,
- 23:32Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So I didn't look at it,
- 23:34Speaker 1: you know like some of the other members looked at it.
- 23:36Speaker 1: You know, you had some people that was like they
- 23:38Speaker 1: didn't like it, and you had some people that was like,
- 23:40Speaker 1: hey man, shit, they expressing theyself. They they want to
- 23:44Speaker 1: you know what I mean. We motivated some people to
- 23:46Speaker 1: you know what I mean. So that's how I always
- 23:48Speaker 1: looked at it, and that's one of the reasons I'm
- 23:50Speaker 1: the first person outter screwed up Click to go do
- 23:54Speaker 1: a freestyle on the Swisher House tape. Mmm, so I
- 23:58Speaker 1: got clap. My My biggest freestyle is on a Swisher
- 24:02Speaker 1: House tape. Which freestyle was that it's a mixtape called
- 24:06Speaker 1: IR forty five and it's a record like we blow in.
- 24:11Speaker 1: Though I might be on jaylen h they be like, Phlip,
- 24:15Speaker 1: can you listen to my demo, I say, nine Nigga,
- 24:18Speaker 1: I got shows to do after the concert. I got
- 24:21Speaker 1: hoes to screw, like that's a classic freestyle. That's like, motherfucker,
- 24:26Speaker 1: scream that shit like word for word. And so I
- 24:29Speaker 1: was always going over there. I got family that's on
- 24:31Speaker 1: the north side, so in the midst of the North
- 24:34Speaker 1: Side and South Side, Beef, I was always on the
- 24:36Speaker 1: north side anyway, like because I don't I don't at
- 24:39Speaker 1: the end of the day, the way I feel we Houston, right,
- 24:42Speaker 1: I mean, at the end of the day, it's about
- 24:43Speaker 1: unity for me. So you know, Yeah, my biggest freestyle
- 24:47Speaker 1: is on the Swish House tape. That's crazy and I'm
- 24:49Speaker 1: in a screwed up click. What can you tell us
- 24:51Speaker 1: about that Source magazine cover? Was everyone there at the
- 24:55Speaker 1: same time? Yep? What was that? Like? It was a
- 24:58Speaker 1: great day. I played dumb one of us with Jay
- 25:00Speaker 1: Prince seeing you and uh we was on the ranch.
- 25:07Speaker 1: You know, that was one of the inspirations to me,
- 25:09Speaker 1: you know, buying a ranch and cattle. So just being
- 25:14Speaker 1: on the ranch and hearing about the ranch and just
- 25:16Speaker 1: being there and what was on that covers? Rose Slim, Paul, Pimps,
- 25:25Speaker 1: Bun by, which was random. But I don't think he
- 25:29Speaker 1: was on the cover. I think he was on the inside.
- 25:32Speaker 1: You had to open it, yeah, okay, because it was
- 25:34Speaker 1: it was the cover was like one of those fold
- 25:36Speaker 1: out fo damn. But I remember him being there, yeah,
- 25:42Speaker 1: because like the ones I got, I got. I still
- 25:44Speaker 1: got some copies of that in my studio, But that
- 25:46Speaker 1: particular one, I don't think. Maybe he was on the inside.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Maybe I don't remember. Yeah, I think it was the inside.
- 25:51Speaker 1: But but yeah, everybody was there, bro. It was a
- 25:53Speaker 1: cold day. That's why I had on the fur. It
- 25:56Speaker 1: was a cold ass fucking day. And some kind of
- 26:00Speaker 1: like past the mic freestyle that same day too. It
- 26:03Speaker 1: was cool, man, I mean it was cold. Was this
- 26:06Speaker 1: probably the last day that all those people were together
- 26:08Speaker 1: all at once? Huh man when you put it like that.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Probably so it's a lot of people to get Yeah,
- 26:14Speaker 1: probably so because we lost PMC long lived PEMPS. Yeah,
- 26:18Speaker 1: smoke some bitch and memory of PMC. Yeah, that was
- 26:22Speaker 1: a That was a big moment because I just encapsulated
- 26:25Speaker 1: just kind of the movement that was going on at
- 26:27Speaker 1: the time. Definitely. Uh, why do you think that movement
- 26:33Speaker 1: didn't have a lot of longevity commercially, because it felt
- 26:37Speaker 1: like there was like a three or four year window
- 26:39Speaker 1: where it was like it and then it kind of
- 26:41Speaker 1: just started to you know, I don't know if it
- 26:44Speaker 1: was g unit, you know, running with shit, or it
- 26:46Speaker 1: just just hip hop kind of shifted, shifted, right, I know.
- 26:51Speaker 1: Part of the reason is what's the word evolving? Right?
- 26:58Speaker 1: Every coast, every time has their own lingo, their own
- 27:02Speaker 1: slang words that they say, things that they do. So
- 27:05Speaker 1: for us, you know, the candy paint, the double cups,
- 27:08Speaker 1: the diamond teeth, that's us, right, that's our culture, like
- 27:11Speaker 1: we live, it's in us. It's not a fad for us, right.
- 27:14Speaker 1: So for the rest of the country, right, Yeah, to
- 27:18Speaker 1: some up, yeah, they thought it was a fad, and
- 27:20Speaker 1: so everybody started getting grills where they're talking, you know,
- 27:24Speaker 1: funny can't really talk and just you know, double cups,
- 27:27Speaker 1: all this stuff that we started. And so man, it's
- 27:31Speaker 1: just like some people didn't want to keep hearing about
- 27:34Speaker 1: candy paint, popping trunks, grills, you know what I mean.
- 27:38Speaker 1: And then at the same time, some artists like, okay,
- 27:44Speaker 1: if you make a record that's about a certain topic, right,
- 27:48Speaker 1: and it goes you know, gold or whatever the case
- 27:52Speaker 1: may be. Pretty you know, plenty of fanfare. You're gonna
- 27:56Speaker 1: replicate that, people are gonna be in your ear. You
- 27:59Speaker 1: need another one one of those. So then you go
- 28:01Speaker 1: back in the studio and you try to make another
- 28:03Speaker 1: one of those. Right, So it's like you probably on
- 28:06Speaker 1: your head like we need another Sunshine right right, and
- 28:10Speaker 1: me I'm just like listen, I'm gonna create. It has
- 28:13Speaker 1: to happen. Argain. Did they ever try to force you
- 28:15Speaker 1: into do a Shawnte record back then, like a record
- 28:18Speaker 1: with her because Sunshine was so big, like at the
- 28:21Speaker 1: same time, like as on like you know everything. They didn't.
- 28:25Speaker 1: They never forced a Shanty record. I was able to
- 28:27Speaker 1: do one with Beyonce. I did a Naughty Girl. You
- 28:29Speaker 1: did the Naughty Girl. Oh my god, I forgot about that.
- 28:32Speaker 1: And then I did a remix with Kelly Rowland King
- 28:35Speaker 1: Nobody and I hate the record and do what it
- 28:39Speaker 1: should it did. I forgot about Naughty Girl. What's that like?
- 28:43Speaker 1: Getting a call from Beyonce? Man, it's dope. I mean
- 28:47Speaker 1: it was like they actually performed like my single off
- 28:52Speaker 1: of the Leperchun I can do that. They actually performed
- 28:55Speaker 1: there like in Houston at like a big show back
- 28:59Speaker 1: in the day, Like I forgot what arena. I don't
- 29:01Speaker 1: know if it was the felt she's always paying homage
- 29:04Speaker 1: when she can, you know, to this day, no, till
- 29:06Speaker 1: his day, till his day. Yeah, but now that was
- 29:10Speaker 1: a dope adult moment. And then she called me out
- 29:12Speaker 1: the blaue and was like, hey, I want to ship
- 29:15Speaker 1: you some of this Ivory Park. So I got this
- 29:18Speaker 1: big box of ivy big Adida's box delivered and a
- 29:22Speaker 1: letter and you know that was dope and we were
- 29:25Speaker 1: label made, so it was It's cool. So thank you
- 29:28Speaker 1: for the clothes, missus Nose, Thanks for the closed Missnose.
- 29:32Speaker 1: There it is, I should I say respectfully, Miss it's card.
- 29:36Speaker 1: I don't know. Did she take the name? I don't know,
- 29:38Speaker 1: but you know you got to show. Yeah, you know, hey,
- 29:44Speaker 1: I don't want to dive into the t I thing
- 29:45Speaker 1: because you've talked about it to the death. But I
- 29:47Speaker 1: just I never remember what was the origin of your guys'
- 29:52Speaker 1: issue back in the day. I gotta I got a
- 29:54Speaker 1: song with Easy to Block Captain car how many times

- 30:05Speaker 1: go ask me about this? There it is, he said,

- 31:52Speaker 1: sto is off. Look, I don't want to talk about
- 31:53Speaker 1: the street snow mo, and I don't want to talk
- 31:55Speaker 1: about the beef no Mo. Dudes, do some on my
- 31:58Speaker 1: hip or you can meet fau Fo. You go to
- 32:00Speaker 1: war with a Vampire teeth, got show, you know? But anyway,
- 32:04Speaker 1: what was the question again? I just that was the
- 32:06Speaker 1: perfect moment for me to for your Yeah, and then
- 32:09Speaker 1: you use this clip and no, I was just I
- 32:14Speaker 1: was just curious, like like the initial just kind of conflict,
- 32:18Speaker 1: like what what did it? What was the origin of it?
- 32:21Speaker 1: It was some petty stuff. Like me and him, we
- 32:23Speaker 1: actually have each other number. We probably text and uh
- 32:27Speaker 1: we talked about me coming on his podcast and him
- 32:30Speaker 1: coming on mine. So we go, we go schedule. Yeah, yeah,
- 32:34Speaker 1: so we we go scheduling where we're filming both at
- 32:37Speaker 1: the same time. So we talked, We had dialogue on it.
- 32:40Speaker 1: But what I will say, like, it was really super petty,
- 32:43Speaker 1: and it was something that I tried to nipping the
- 32:46Speaker 1: bud before it spiraled out of control, you know what
- 32:50Speaker 1: I mean, because you know, I know how things can
- 32:54Speaker 1: get out of hand. So I'm just glad that Jay Prince,
- 32:58Speaker 1: being a o G that he is, decided to step
- 33:01Speaker 1: in and say, you know what, like, I can't let
- 33:04Speaker 1: two youngsters, you know what I'm saying, young kids from
- 33:06Speaker 1: the South. Yeah, two kings. And at the end of
- 33:09Speaker 1: the day, we both talked about it, laughed about it,
- 33:12Speaker 1: and he was like the movie. Yeah, he was like, man,
- 33:14Speaker 1: we was kids, so you know, it's it's all to
- 33:17Speaker 1: the g. But it was petty and I've moved past it. Man,
- 33:20Speaker 1: that's beautiful. Man. Yeah, you and Zero this is your
- 33:25Speaker 1: So you guys have two joint projects. We did Kings
- 33:28Speaker 1: of the South Part one and Part two is coming
- 33:30Speaker 1: or Part two is coming, Yeah, and part two is
- 33:33Speaker 1: just like music. Like Kings of the South one, we
- 33:36Speaker 1: was in a different mode back then. It was you know,
- 33:38Speaker 1: a lot going up. But part two of the fans
- 33:41Speaker 1: keep asking because he's the King of the ghetto and
- 33:44Speaker 1: I'm the freestyle king, you know what I mean. So,
- 33:47Speaker 1: and that's one of the big things even with my
- 33:48Speaker 1: movie I'm working on, It's Kyle King Life. It's about
- 33:52Speaker 1: like people fighting for that one spot. But if you
- 33:56Speaker 1: really go back to back in the days, like it
- 33:58Speaker 1: was multiple kings, King ruled this area and this radio
- 34:02Speaker 1: of course of course, right, so we're so competitive and
- 34:06Speaker 1: hip hop and then not you know where we come from.
- 34:08Speaker 1: You want to be the number one guy, you know
- 34:09Speaker 1: what I mean, But you can bet the number one
- 34:11Speaker 1: guy in your section you can beat. So that's what
- 34:14Speaker 1: my movie is about, like people coming together. You know,
- 34:18Speaker 1: everybody want that number one spot, but hey, we all
- 34:20Speaker 1: can be number one. Do you think zero gets enough
- 34:23Speaker 1: flowers in terms of just like I feel like somehow
- 34:26Speaker 1: like he obviously being incarcerated during a lot of that
- 34:31Speaker 1: era of h Town but like in terms of just
- 34:33Speaker 1: like his ability as an artist. You know, he's obviously
- 34:38Speaker 1: a legend in your city, and I just feel like
- 34:40Speaker 1: he never probably got his his flowers nationally that he
- 34:44Speaker 1: probably deserves. I don't feel like they play zero music
- 34:49Speaker 1: like they need to, right, you know what I mean,
- 34:52Speaker 1: unless you go to Houston and they played, but they played.
- 34:55Speaker 1: You know, his fan base is crazy. You know, he's
- 34:57Speaker 1: got a crazy and I fel feel like they go
- 35:02Speaker 1: see That's why that was one of the main things
- 35:06Speaker 1: why it was so important for me to put Free
- 35:08Speaker 1: Him on my cover because a lot of times, you know,
- 35:12Speaker 1: it's a stigma of when you get this major deal
- 35:15Speaker 1: the record label, you know they change you, and you
- 35:18Speaker 1: know you sell your soul. I believe in God, so
- 35:21Speaker 1: I'm not gonna compromise my manhood, my integrity, my morals,
- 35:25Speaker 1: my principles for no money. So that's why all my deals,
- 35:30Speaker 1: I was able to do what I wanted to do,
- 35:32Speaker 1: even with the g Unit mixtapes. She was asking how
- 35:34Speaker 1: I get on that, because when I came to New York,
- 35:36Speaker 1: I was saying, if I want to take over New York,
- 35:38Speaker 1: I need to wrap next to the great. So I
- 35:40Speaker 1: was with Dipset on all the cam mixtapes doing records,
- 35:44Speaker 1: I'm with g Unit. Buck was already my homie who
- 35:48Speaker 1: kid putting me on mixtapes and stuff like that, so
- 35:51Speaker 1: I had to go in, like y'all want, I'm gonna
- 35:53Speaker 1: show you that it's some people from Houston that don't
- 35:55Speaker 1: just wrap up by popping trunks and candy paint. I
- 35:58Speaker 1: rap about that shit as well, but I know how
- 36:00Speaker 1: to limit how much I talk about that because I'm
- 36:03Speaker 1: thinking worldwide. But back to Zero, I just wanted to
- 36:05Speaker 1: go into that g Unit. How did I end up
- 36:07Speaker 1: on the mixtapes because I knew I needed to rap
- 36:10Speaker 1: next to the greats and showed them that somebody in
- 36:12Speaker 1: Texas can rap as well, you know what I mean?
- 36:16Speaker 1: And so but yeah, with Zero man, that dude, bro.
- 36:19Speaker 1: When we get in the studio, our vibe is like
- 36:22Speaker 1: me and my cousin, Big Shasta, Me and Big t
- 36:25Speaker 1: rest In Piece. Big t He's the one who sung
- 36:27Speaker 1: the hook to want to be a bottle he died.
- 36:30Speaker 1: So those are the three people that when I get
- 36:33Speaker 1: in the studio, it's like, you know what I mean, Magic,
- 36:37Speaker 1: you know what I mean? All that, Like we just
- 36:40Speaker 1: get we get it in and his hooks and and
- 36:43Speaker 1: the way he constructed his melodies. He was actually the
- 36:46Speaker 1: first you know rapper really you know, singing and rapping.
- 36:50Speaker 1: You know what I mean, you know, shout out to him. Yeah, yo,
- 36:54Speaker 1: I feel like some did somebody just try sampling Sunshine
- 36:57Speaker 1: or just put out like a remix, like a new
- 36:59Speaker 1: verse version of it. Am I tripping? Man, it's funny.
- 37:03Speaker 1: It's funny. It's funny. You said that because I'm trying
- 37:06Speaker 1: not to give away. But okay, so look, or maybe
- 37:08Speaker 1: someone played me a sampled version of it that isn't
- 37:12Speaker 1: out yet or something. I just feel like it's about
- 37:14Speaker 1: time somebody tries to put remake Sunshine. Bruh. It's crazy.
- 37:19Speaker 1: So it's a two way part to that story. I'm
- 37:23Speaker 1: not gonna say who the artist is, but okay. So
- 37:26Speaker 1: on the way out here though, I got a d
- 37:29Speaker 1: M and artist hit me and it was like hey man,
- 37:32Speaker 1: I remade, well what's your information? You know what's going on?
- 37:35Speaker 1: O G And we exchange information. Then he called I text.
- 37:41Speaker 1: I text like hey, this meet like me. Then he
- 37:44Speaker 1: called you know what I'm saying, I just gave the gender.
- 37:46Speaker 1: Huh yeah, yeah, he called it's a guy. It's a guy.
- 37:51Speaker 1: So he hit me up and he was like, man,
- 37:54Speaker 1: I remade you know the record, Sunshine flipped it and
- 38:00Speaker 1: he was like, I gotta let you hear it. And
- 38:03Speaker 1: we talked a little business or whatever. Major artists, like
- 38:06Speaker 1: a major label artist rather major major. Yeah yeah, yeah, major,
- 38:10Speaker 1: yeah yeah. It's crazy part one of his plaques and
- 38:13Speaker 1: his motherfucker. But I'll tell you off the air. I
- 38:18Speaker 1: can tell you what it is, but we'll make this
- 38:24Speaker 1: a bet if you can get if you can guess, Nope,
- 38:30Speaker 1: it's not y G Nope. So look, you owe me,
- 38:33Speaker 1: You owe me seven grams of some zaz I. Damn.
- 38:37Speaker 1: I feel like someone played me. I feel like somebody
- 38:40Speaker 1: played me a record. And I was like, oh something,
- 38:42Speaker 1: it's about time someone flipped it. And it's so crazy
- 38:45Speaker 1: to peep this though. That happened the other day now,
- 38:48Speaker 1: a year ago. Another artist was working on the project
- 38:53Speaker 1: and hit me and his producer was like, Hey, that's
- 38:57Speaker 1: such a great record. And you know what's crazy about
- 38:58Speaker 1: that record is it's like, to this day, it still
- 39:01Speaker 1: is such a great gold record that radio stations have
- 39:04Speaker 1: to play because it's it's like just one of those
- 39:08Speaker 1: ones is like, it's never gonna go away, and I
- 39:11Speaker 1: love when it come on the way it possessed ladies
- 39:14Speaker 1: and stuff. But the other artist, it be like a
- 39:17Speaker 1: year ago his producing I actually had recorded a verse
- 39:21Speaker 1: on that version. So it's two artists that contacted me
- 39:25Speaker 1: to do with the other one. I don't know, it
- 39:27Speaker 1: didn't come out or whatever whatever. But yo, so let
- 39:31Speaker 1: me ask you this. You're involved in the metaverse. Obviously,
- 39:33Speaker 1: the crypto shit just crashed pretty crazy. NFTs are crashing
- 39:36Speaker 1: like crazy right now. Yea, what is your like thoughts
- 39:41Speaker 1: because like, obviously somebody like Snoop Dogg, who's murdering it
- 39:47Speaker 1: right now? Right I can't even listen to Doggie Style
- 39:50Speaker 1: on Spotify anymore. You got to go buy the NFT man.
- 39:52Speaker 1: I don't even know how to buy a fucking NFC man.
- 39:55Speaker 1: But what are your thoughts just on the whole metaverse?
- 39:57Speaker 1: And like, is there a way to to take advantage
- 40:01Speaker 1: of it as an artist without worrying about whether or
- 40:04Speaker 1: not that n FT market crashes or like, Because obviously crypto,
- 40:08Speaker 1: NFT metaverse they all kind of go hand in hand,
- 40:10Speaker 1: but they're also very separate. Because I can go home
- 40:13Speaker 1: and throw on my oculas and play a game in
- 40:15Speaker 1: the metaverse and it's not the same thing as you know,
- 40:17Speaker 1: so you're obviously doing concerts. You're right, You're you're involved
- 40:20Speaker 1: in the metaverse shit like correct, talk about your involvement
- 40:23Speaker 1: in that and just your thoughts on that whole shit. Well, see,
- 40:26Speaker 1: a lot of times the communities, they have a problem
- 40:29Speaker 1: when a person tries to like, you know, take advantage
- 40:31Speaker 1: of that when you try to use So I believe
- 40:34Speaker 1: in using the word like utilize, right, and then I
- 40:37Speaker 1: believe in reaching my people. So I'm a pain that
- 40:39Speaker 1: paint art. Yeah, I do shoes, skateboards, hats. I draw
- 40:44Speaker 1: like my jery and my test you know, I mean
- 40:46Speaker 1: I draw so so like when it comes to art
- 40:50Speaker 1: and our people, and you know the percent of people
- 40:53Speaker 1: that are labeled weird because we might throw on a
- 40:57Speaker 1: green shirt with a orange pair of pans, right, and
- 41:02Speaker 1: to the average eye, they'll be like, that doesn't match.
- 41:04Speaker 1: But when you elevate to a certain level of being fly,
- 41:10Speaker 1: if you look in the mirror and you like that shit,
- 41:11Speaker 1: that's all that fucking matters. Right, So everybody has to
- 41:17Speaker 1: do something one time to become a trend, right, so
- 41:20Speaker 1: the metaverse and just the people that I'm still able
- 41:22Speaker 1: to interact with that are fans and that you know
- 41:26Speaker 1: that are higher thinkers, people that are looking at life
- 41:29Speaker 1: from a different angle. They usually buy into people that
- 41:33Speaker 1: are like them. Right, And when you have a brand
- 41:36Speaker 1: and you're able to always show the promoter or the
- 41:41Speaker 1: artists or the fan people that spend money with me
- 41:43Speaker 1: or show that they support me, I always go out
- 41:46Speaker 1: my way to be like, thank you, I'm gonna take
- 41:47Speaker 1: that extra pitchure, I'm gonna give you anxiety pop, I'm
- 41:50Speaker 1: gonna do you know whatever the fuck just because you
- 41:53Speaker 1: told me my music got you through this and that
- 41:55Speaker 1: so I show fans and people love so people that
- 41:59Speaker 1: are there wherever my fans are or wherever there are
- 42:03Speaker 1: people who strive to surround themselves with great people and
- 42:07Speaker 1: make money and leave generation of well behind for their
- 42:10Speaker 1: family and not be on some dumb shit. Not easily easily,
- 42:13Speaker 1: you know, swathe, you know, like I'm creating stuff for
- 42:18Speaker 1: people that are thinkers and coming up with different ways
- 42:21Speaker 1: that people who want to be involved in the music
- 42:23Speaker 1: industry should invest in other artists, Like I'm working on
- 42:27Speaker 1: some other apps that's going to actually help a lot
- 42:29Speaker 1: of artists get investors and have people around the world
- 42:34Speaker 1: to be able to have stake in certain things. Well,
- 42:38Speaker 1: that's smart because I always I always Because there's a
- 42:40Speaker 1: guy named Larussell out of Vallejo, California, so he's doing
- 42:46Speaker 1: something similar for his music. He's like, Yo, if you
- 42:51Speaker 1: you can invest in this song and I give you
- 42:53Speaker 1: a chunk of it from distro kid. Right. So I
- 42:57Speaker 1: feel like for up and coming artists, if someone believes
- 42:59Speaker 1: in you and if there's a place you could point
- 43:02Speaker 1: them to be like, yo, you can go purchase a
- 43:05Speaker 1: stake in whatever this album is or whatever, and you
- 43:09Speaker 1: can help bankroll what I'm trying to do with it.
- 43:11Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying. I think that that's that's
- 43:13Speaker 1: a platform that's missing. Yeah, for independent especially for independent artists.
- 43:17Speaker 1: Hey man, I'm one of them type of people. But like,
- 43:21Speaker 1: I want to leave music in better shape, in business,
- 43:27Speaker 1: in better shape than it was before I came. Right, Like, so,
- 43:31Speaker 1: if you think about the era that came before me
- 43:33Speaker 1: and the way their contracts were, some of them still
- 43:37Speaker 1: be stres and some of them still suck the contracts
- 43:40Speaker 1: contracts stone right, And then think about the artists that
- 43:43Speaker 1: came out before them, the people in the fifties and
- 43:46Speaker 1: when they were getting paid one penny. It's crazy, and
- 43:48Speaker 1: you know, but the cost of living was way lower,
- 43:51Speaker 1: but still it was crazy. It's still crazy. Wow. So
- 43:55Speaker 1: now the era that came after me, in the era
- 43:58Speaker 1: the artists, they're making a whole bunch of money at
- 44:02Speaker 1: a faster rate, you know what I mean. So, you know,
- 44:05Speaker 1: money management and just it's a lot of different things
- 44:09Speaker 1: that you know, these artists should do and learn to
- 44:13Speaker 1: do with their money, and learn how to treat people
- 44:16Speaker 1: with more respect because you never know when you're gonna
- 44:19Speaker 1: see the same people coming down if you come down though, Yeah,
- 44:23Speaker 1: that's real, yo. Man, Houston's obviously in a great place
- 44:27Speaker 1: now two of the biggest artists in the fucking world
- 44:29Speaker 1: of Travis and Meghan. How do you feel like, uh,
- 44:33Speaker 1: just the scene locally is doing right now outside of
- 44:37Speaker 1: those two because obviously they're fucking out of here. But
- 44:39Speaker 1: just like in terms of just like the underground scene,
- 44:41Speaker 1: I guess, man, I mean, you got as far as
- 44:46Speaker 1: like newer artists, you got you know, South sotwalkers killing it.
- 44:50Speaker 1: You got pro pain has been dope for a while too. Yep,
- 44:55Speaker 1: you got Max O Cream just put out a crazy
- 44:58Speaker 1: record with Benning the Butcher, so I'm trying not to leave.
- 45:01Speaker 1: You got Toby. I don't know how to pronounce his
- 45:03Speaker 1: last name, so I always fuck his name up too,
- 45:06Speaker 1: so just be He's incredible. Yeah, it's talent out there. Man,
- 45:11Speaker 1: It's a lot of youngs. It's O M. B. Blood Bad,
- 45:15Speaker 1: a lady named Lady Ices. She's on the Freshman cover.
- 45:22Speaker 1: So it's like a it's a lot of artists. Man,
- 45:24Speaker 1: I don't want to forget. It's crazy too because now
- 45:27Speaker 1: like I feel like Houston without even I don't feel
- 45:30Speaker 1: like we acknowledge Houston is like one of the big
- 45:32Speaker 1: cities still, like right now if you really look at
- 45:35Speaker 1: like who's popping and hip hop like Houston is like
- 45:39Speaker 1: and also people love to go to Houston and record.
- 45:43Speaker 1: Houston is like a place people really enjoyed it just
- 45:45Speaker 1: oh yeah, yeah yeah. Not a lot of the artists
- 45:47Speaker 1: they come out. I know people who just who moved there.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Like a lot of people just live there because there's
- 45:50Speaker 1: no state tax. The food's good, clubs are amazing. Property
- 45:54Speaker 1: property is not too crazy. Oh yeah, now that's where
- 45:57Speaker 1: you we play Monopoly out there, Twelopoli board game. Like bro,
- 46:01Speaker 1: we that's why we love it where we're at. Yeah
- 46:04Speaker 1: we can, we don't. Yeah, we don't never have to leave.
- 46:08Speaker 1: If we never, you know, wanted to leave, we would
- 46:10Speaker 1: be kind of in the middle of everything. Quick flights Atlanta,
- 46:13Speaker 1: Quick flight to La Yeah, the hug Man and when
- 46:16Speaker 1: y'all do go to Houston, When y'all do go to Houston,
- 46:19Speaker 1: Turkey leg hut, get the Alfredo. Is that your spot?
- 46:23Speaker 1: Now that's my homie Lynn and his wife. What Turkey
- 46:25Speaker 1: leg hut? Yes, Hey, get the Alfred of the shrimp
- 46:29Speaker 1: Alfredo Turkey leg with the rice. That sounds amazing, like
- 46:33Speaker 1: it's like stuffed and man, now I'm hungry. Oh yeah,
- 46:36Speaker 1: I am too, as soon as I get done with this.
- 46:38Speaker 1: But there it is. Look little flip new music coming,
- 46:41Speaker 1: Oh yeah, all the freestyle three, coming to the freestyle three.
- 46:46Speaker 1: We're gonna get to some freestyling. Oh yeah. August nineteenth
- 46:49Speaker 1: man for YouTube video definitely. Then after that I'm dropping
- 46:52Speaker 1: funds and filip and then you know, me and zero
- 46:55Speaker 1: we got kings in the South part too. On tonight
- 46:57Speaker 1: videos out right now doing numbers. Check it out. Flipp
- 47:01Speaker 1: and zero f A Lovey f A The Homies. Yes,
- 47:06Speaker 1: sir F is a good guy man. He did, let's
- 47:09Speaker 1: get it.
