- 6:02Speaker 3: meant that the doors are wide open, and subsequently speaking,
- 6:07Speaker 3: it would open the door for people like Alan said

- 8:33Speaker 3: on the road out here. It's really interesting. That's my bell.
- 8:38Speaker 3: Ap Delon and Ap had a very memorable performance at Coachella.
- 8:44Speaker 3: He slammed his guitar on the stage and caught a
- 8:47Speaker 3: lot of flak from it from a lot of people,
- 8:48Speaker 3: a lot of purists in music. Let's just say in India,
- 8:53Speaker 3: this is Sid three wom with nas He's on stage
- 8:57Speaker 3: this weekend.
- 9:01Speaker 13: My soult felt broken? Is there were time my faith
- 9:07Speaker 13: was shaking some right, nohow we made it love one's
- 9:14Speaker 13: all around, say it's just the beginning. Hay staring up

- 9:32Speaker 4: In the world, not in the world, waving me. We
- 9:36Speaker 4: said far, not too far, feeling like I was gonna draw.
- 9:40Speaker 13: Or there were time my soult felt broken, and there
- 9:46Speaker 13: were time my faith was.
- 9:49Speaker 4: Shaking some right now, how we made it? Love one's
- 9:56Speaker 4: all around. No say it's just the beginning.
- 10:00Speaker 14: Yeah, no longer killed. Written by the silken linen. Never
- 10:05Speaker 14: condemn it, never condescending. Before you hear something this dope beginning.
- 10:09Speaker 5: People love it. You'll see the pope on the beach
- 10:11Speaker 5: in the tucket play the trumpet.
- 10:12Speaker 14: Somehow, some way, we made it out the filter garbage
- 10:15Speaker 14: where people kill for nasais.
- 10:16Speaker 5: World as saying we need to be born again.
- 10:17Speaker 14: From the problems of Harlequins and the Charlatans, trying to
- 10:20Speaker 14: stick they thoughts in them, but they can kill the confidence,
- 10:23Speaker 14: just say religious.
- 10:24Speaker 5: But yoh, I see the crescent, see.
- 10:25Speaker 14: The illuminated crossing the sky in the distance, or maybe
- 10:28Speaker 14: your sister clouds.
- 10:29Speaker 5: How they shape up my visions.
- 10:30Speaker 14: Telling me never play down my true existence, forget what
- 10:34Speaker 14: you know. Just take a leap, no matter how high
- 10:36Speaker 14: up you are or how deep or what height it is,
- 10:40Speaker 14: be the mightiest.
- 10:41Speaker 5: We've been in a tight spot.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Fight you.
- 10:45Speaker 4: My soul so broken does the work.
- 10:50Speaker 13: My faith was shaken, some break somehow.
- 10:56Speaker 4: We made it.
- 11:00Speaker 15: To say it's just to begin it. They say it's
- 11:04Speaker 15: just to begin it considder then didn't, then not continner, then.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Didn't. Then Oh the worth of musself so broken? My
- 11:32Speaker 4: faith was shaken.
- 11:34Speaker 16: Say some way, somehow.
- 11:38Speaker 4: We made it low says just the beginning, These says
- 11:45Speaker 4: just That's.
- 11:46Speaker 3: Times produced by Steel Bengals NAS getting together with since Rewound.
- 11:56Speaker 3: Got a lot of fun still ahead in this episode. Today,
- 11:59Speaker 3: I've got something to say about Delgito Songe at the
- 12:03Speaker 3: end of the show. I don't think you'll hear it
- 12:04Speaker 3: anywhere else. It's not about the streams and it's not
- 12:07Speaker 3: about the tour numbers. It's about something more specific than that.
- 12:11Speaker 3: So stick around and I'll share my thoughts with you here. Now,
- 12:14Speaker 3: let's bring in doctor Roy to the episode for today's

- 12:28Speaker 17: first Haindi language film to cross the thousand core club,
- 12:32Speaker 17: with his dual role earning widespread acclaim. The achievement cements
- 12:35Speaker 17: his position at the top of Bollywood's box office game.
- 12:39Speaker 17: In media news, Bollywood star Tripti Vimri has been named
- 12:43Speaker 17: the first ever Indian brand ambassador for Victoria's Secrets, debuting
- 12:47Speaker 17: in the summers signature campaign. The move signals the brand's
- 12:51Speaker 17: growing focus on India, blending its iconic style with the
- 12:53Speaker 17: more inclusive global vision. In eveng news, Tiana Sumenesker up

- 13:35Speaker 3: Bollywood music. I originally selected it because Sid three Ram
- 13:40Speaker 3: sang the original version of this in Tamil. Here's the Hindi.

- 30:57Speaker 22: It feels great, honestly, as he said that, Christina is
- 31:02Speaker 22: the founder of the festival and still the share of
- 31:05Speaker 22: the board and founder and has just done an amazing
- 31:10Speaker 22: job over the last twenty something years.
- 31:13Speaker 34: Yeah, you know, growing the festival, building.
- 31:15Speaker 35: The community, getting people excited about you know, being South
- 31:19Speaker 35: Asian film of all shapes and sizes, and you know,
- 31:23Speaker 35: when it comes down to it, I think it's all
- 31:26Speaker 35: about the movies, you know.
- 31:27Speaker 34: And we have a great coelection this year, so I'm pumped.
- 31:30Speaker 3: Yeah, we've been doing a spotlight on the Indian Festival
- 31:35Speaker 3: all week long, and so we've been talking to make
- 31:37Speaker 3: a Kadakia and yesterday we had Najal Vias on the air.
- 31:40Speaker 3: So it's great to be culminating this week with you.
- 31:44Speaker 3: So listen, this is all going down next week. Tell
- 31:47Speaker 3: us what you got planned for us from the opening
- 31:49Speaker 3: night onwards. I mean there's so much tell us.
- 31:53Speaker 34: Yeah, it's it's a great program. I mean, like I said,
- 31:57Speaker 34: we have three short programs and then we have a
- 32:02Speaker 34: group of.
- 32:04Speaker 36: I believe it is Devin features, including two documentaries and
- 32:11Speaker 36: films really from all over South Asia.
- 32:14Speaker 34: Not just India, which we love to do.
- 32:17Speaker 24: You know.
- 32:17Speaker 34: It's like it's a great cross section of the region
- 32:20Speaker 34: in general.
- 32:21Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 32:22Speaker 34: Yeah.
- 32:22Speaker 3: Yeah. An you've got the big opening night documentary or
- 32:28Speaker 3: the film which is called Breaking the Code. Tell us
- 32:31Speaker 3: about it.
- 32:32Speaker 34: I am really excited about this one.
- 32:35Speaker 22: This film.
- 32:36Speaker 28: Uh, it's gonna be impossible not to get emotional during
- 32:40Speaker 28: this film.
- 32:41Speaker 36: It is a documentary by a filmmaker named Ben Recky,
- 32:45Speaker 36: who just really coincidentally I'd worked with before, and he's
- 32:51Speaker 36: a very talented guy from the Bay Area originally, and
- 32:56Speaker 36: the film track is fother his journey in the us
- 33:02Speaker 36: and in his rise in Silicon Valley and then you know,
- 33:08Speaker 36: captures his father.
- 33:09Speaker 3: And it becomes this kind of.
- 33:12Speaker 34: Really you know, obviously, on one hand, it is about
- 33:15Speaker 34: the Silicon Valley icon and I do want to ruin it,
- 33:18Speaker 34: but you'll you'll.
- 33:19Speaker 28: See the effect that this person had on on so
- 33:22Speaker 28: many others of South Asian descent. And his name is
- 33:26Speaker 28: kanwall Rucky again Filkin Valley legend. And then Ben turns
- 33:29Speaker 28: the camera on him, but in doing so, I learned a.
- 33:33Speaker 36: Lot about himself and uh and then you know, I
- 33:36Speaker 36: don't I don't.
- 33:37Speaker 28: Want to give any spoilers there, but let's just say
- 33:39Speaker 28: it's a how he said, buying emotional but also uplifting
- 33:43Speaker 28: and inspirational film.
- 33:45Speaker 34: And I can't wait for people to see it.
- 33:47Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, you know, mister Rickey's story is a testament
- 33:50Speaker 3: to what a lot of people in our South Asian
- 33:52Speaker 3: community go through in their immigrant story. So that's it's
- 33:56Speaker 3: a great watch and I can't wait for people to
- 33:57Speaker 3: see it. Yeah yeah, on Jay, you know, there's a
- 34:05Speaker 3: something that's really cool about the Festival. I believe the
- 34:07Speaker 3: Festival does an amazing job of offering South Asian filmmakers
- 34:12Speaker 3: more than just what is going on on the screen.
- 34:15Speaker 3: Tell us about that, tell us about the week.
- 34:18Speaker 36: Yeah, well, I'm so glad you said that, first of all,
- 34:20Speaker 36: because yes, I mean, as proud as.
- 34:22Speaker 28: We are of the official selection of films, I think
- 34:27Speaker 28: what you know, if you're talking to anyone in LA
- 34:29Speaker 28: who's been.
- 34:29Speaker 34: To it, they'll just tell you like, oh my god,
- 34:32Speaker 34: what a great bot like what what a great you
- 34:34Speaker 34: know energy at that festival. And it's for a few reasons.
- 34:38Speaker 28: But one of the things I want to highlighted that
- 34:40Speaker 28: we have this thing called Industry Days and it's two days,
- 34:43Speaker 28: it's the.
- 34:44Speaker 34: Friday and Saturday. And what we do is just a
- 34:48Speaker 34: several programs.
- 34:50Speaker 23: There's a pitch competition, there's you know, a project that
- 34:54Speaker 23: we select and you match filmmakers up with you know, financiers,
- 34:59Speaker 23: distributed other industry executives, Asians, you know, And so.
- 35:03Speaker 37: What you do is you have this now, now we
- 35:05Speaker 37: have this on top of the festival audience itself, we
- 35:08Speaker 37: have a huge swath of industry folks and young filmmakers
- 35:11Speaker 37: and creative that just gives the whole thing an amazing energy.
- 35:15Speaker 38: And you know, so it really is kind of this
- 35:20Speaker 38: cross section of you know, people from all walks of
- 35:24Speaker 38: life that better lovers of South Asian cinema and so
- 35:29Speaker 38: it's really cool.
- 35:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I love that. I love that a lot. And Jay,
- 35:35Speaker 3: I want to talk to you about the institution of
- 35:37Speaker 3: the film festival in the equation of film. Where do
- 35:43Speaker 3: you see the festival itself going, the film festival overall
- 35:49Speaker 3: as an institution. What is the future given the new
- 35:52Speaker 3: obstacles that this industry faces.
- 35:55Speaker 34: Yeah, that's a great question.
- 35:56Speaker 39: I mean, you know, I think if it has been
- 35:59Speaker 39: the last new years since since COVID and everything, it's
- 36:02Speaker 39: been tough for festivals, you know, a little bit of
- 36:06Speaker 39: a resurgence lately.
- 36:09Speaker 40: With uh, you know, uh, just getting people out and
- 36:13Speaker 40: about again. But I think that I think, good me, Uh,
- 36:18Speaker 40: there's nothing quite like fitting in a theater with a
- 36:22Speaker 40: group of people and experiencing something touching or funny or
- 36:27Speaker 40: scary or what have you.
- 36:29Speaker 34: And I know it's easy to not do that now, right.
- 36:32Speaker 28: We all have these you know, these things in our
- 36:34Speaker 28: pocket and devices everywhere.
- 36:36Speaker 34: And and and all their forms of entertainment.
- 36:39Speaker 28: But I just don't think there's anything quite like sitting
- 36:41Speaker 28: in a theater and experiencing something with a group of
- 36:44Speaker 28: people and that is still and then that's why I
- 36:48Speaker 28: love it.
- 36:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I love that. It's really cool. Listen, you know
- 36:52Speaker 3: this week Ahead here I always joke and I feel
- 36:55Speaker 3: like it feels like an Indian wedding because you start
- 36:57Speaker 3: at one end of it you know nobody, and at
- 37:00Speaker 3: the time the five days are over with, you're collectively
- 37:02Speaker 3: sharing votes on what you think the favorite film of
- 37:06Speaker 3: the week was. And what's really cool about the experience
- 37:08Speaker 3: of overall are I wanted to share this with you,
- 37:10Speaker 3: is that you kind of go through this process. Right,
- 37:12Speaker 3: there's opening night, and then day by day there's this
- 37:15Speaker 3: dialogue of what the next big film is, and that
- 37:18Speaker 3: dialogue of the film kind of carries over, and then
- 37:21Speaker 3: at the end of it all, it culminates with voting
- 37:24Speaker 3: and kind of putting together what your your selections were
- 37:27Speaker 3: for the best film. You know, it's an experience, and
- 37:31Speaker 3: I think from the film community perspective, it's kind of
- 37:34Speaker 3: magical when you say and and tell us, tell us
- 37:37Speaker 3: about it.
- 37:39Speaker 34: Yeah, I think you know what you just said is
- 37:43Speaker 34: exactly right. I mean, I urge people please come out
- 37:46Speaker 34: to the festival. I vear missed. If I didn't think
- 37:50Speaker 34: you know all of our crew. I mean, we have
- 37:52Speaker 34: so many people that work work tirelessly to put on
- 37:54Speaker 34: this event.
- 37:55Speaker 3: So they are the best.
- 37:58Speaker 28: And you know, kudos to everyone that helps and our
- 38:03Speaker 28: supporters and backers and everything.
- 38:05Speaker 41: So many you know people to think and name, but
- 38:07Speaker 41: it takes a lot of people to put this thing on.
- 38:09Speaker 41: It really is a lot of fun. Like you said,
- 38:11Speaker 41: I think our opening night and closing night are our
- 38:14Speaker 41: wonderful events. Please come to those if you can. You know,
- 38:18Speaker 41: our closing night has.
- 38:19Speaker 34: The award ceremonies.
- 38:20Speaker 28: Be there and watch these filmmakers receive awards for these
- 38:25Speaker 28: films that they've worked so hard for. Is often just
- 38:28Speaker 28: like you know, an incredible experience in and of itself,
- 38:32Speaker 28: and are closing that film is pretty incredible as well.
- 38:35Speaker 28: It's called The Great Champsagen Family and it is an
- 38:39Speaker 28: absolute last of a film.
- 38:40Speaker 34: So you know, I would suggest coming for those, but
- 38:43Speaker 34: but coming everything. Passes are on fail now. Tickets are
- 38:45Speaker 34: on fail now. Indian Film Festival dot org.

- 52:24Speaker 3: a sea of almost fifteen thousand people there doing. It's
- 52:27Speaker 3: gonna be great. Here's Dogito Sange with a song called Gubby.
- 52:32Speaker 49: Bioheta Got gopiosheta Uncle Uncle May.
- 52:59Speaker 4: Uncle Uncle Uncle Ushku, the.
- 53:19Speaker 1: Bogie gd.
- 53:25Speaker 11: The Heartia.
- 53:28Speaker 1: Johona said, lug again, Johnathy.
- 53:38Speaker 6: Theaudia, You're getting the care that come back on the Penny,
- 53:43Speaker 6: The age.
- 53:46Speaker 4: By JR. Heart Come Back Johnna Chi the Age st
- 53:54Speaker 4: the cassette.
- 53:56Speaker 1: Then that's a lugging.
- 54:12Speaker 4: John John.
- 54:37Speaker 3: Love it. Delgosonge. The song is called Gubby Us. You know,
- 54:45Speaker 3: I've been sitting on this all show and I wanted
- 54:48Speaker 3: to say it right. You know, when walked out onto
- 54:52Speaker 3: that Coachella stage, there was a feeling in the South
- 54:55Speaker 3: Asian music community that was really hard to put into
- 54:58Speaker 3: words because it wasn't just a performance. It was a moment,
- 55:02Speaker 3: and there was a prevailing belief that I can't confirm
- 55:05Speaker 3: or deny that Sidu Musawaala was supposed to be there,
- 55:08Speaker 3: that after his passing, Diljit stepped into that place. And
- 55:12Speaker 3: I don't know, I don't know if that's true. What
- 55:15Speaker 3: I do know is and if it is true, then
- 55:17Speaker 3: there is no one on earth more deserving of that
- 55:20Speaker 3: responsibility than Diljitosange. And here's why Diljit didn't just show
- 55:24Speaker 3: up at Coachella. He was inevitable, he was always going
- 55:28Speaker 3: to be there. It was just a matter of time
- 55:30Speaker 3: because of what he built and how he built it,
- 55:33Speaker 3: his ability to appeal to the diaspora in a wholesome way,
- 55:37Speaker 3: almost in like an ageless kind of a way, across
- 55:40Speaker 3: every generation. And that's no small thing, and that's the
- 55:44Speaker 3: hardest thing to do in music. Any artist can be
- 55:46Speaker 3: cool to twenty five year olds, any artist can win
- 55:49Speaker 3: over the parents with nostalgia. But to be genuinely cool
- 55:53Speaker 3: to the kid in the front row and worth the
- 55:55Speaker 3: big box office bucks to his parents sitting behind him,
- 55:59Speaker 3: that takes something different, That takes authenticity, that goes all
- 56:02Speaker 3: the way down to the core. Jay Z once said this,
- 56:05Speaker 3: he said, I'm not a business man, I'm a business man.
- 56:10Speaker 3: I think that about Diljit too, because Diljit isn't just
- 56:14Speaker 3: an artist, and he's not just navigating the music industry.
- 56:20Speaker 3: He is the industry. He is the infrastructure. He is
- 56:23Speaker 3: the proof of the concept for every South Asian act
- 56:26Speaker 3: that comes after him. And here's what I want to
- 56:29Speaker 3: leave you with today. In my thirty years in this business,
- 56:33Speaker 3: there are two Punjabi artists that I've seen, two who
- 56:36Speaker 3: can put any age audience in the seats in any city,
- 56:40Speaker 3: in any country on any given night two artists where
- 56:44Speaker 3: the grandparents and the grandchildren are in the same room,
- 56:47Speaker 3: singing the same words, feeling the same thing. And to me,
- 56:51Speaker 3: that's been diljit dosange and set them there shortage. You
- 56:55Speaker 3: don't have to take my word for it. The numbers
- 56:57Speaker 3: will tell you. That's the bridge for today. I'll see
- 57:00Speaker 3: you tomorrow.
- 57:02Speaker 2: That Burugina they can tell on pregaria Jerry, I need
- 57:09Speaker 2: jund the apparendom a terio. That Burgina they can tell
- 57:16Speaker 2: the pregaria Jerry, I need jundy apparendom teriappy epia junda generale.
- 57:30Speaker 50: We turn to Kata. We turned the katerra who luck
- 58:03Speaker 50: you the woll you have to wear my shoot of it.
- 58:08Speaker 4: Got a mac pip. They knew he had the food of.
- 58:14Speaker 10: Luck.
- 58:15Speaker 2: The the wear my shoot pipe he had the food
- 58:19Speaker 2: of the.
- 58:24Speaker 4: Army. Put on the glott.
- 58:30Speaker 31: Turned the catrao the relator, the.
- 58:36Speaker 4: Turn the carter who.
- 58:51Speaker 1: Literal Okay, we got a.
- 58:57Speaker 39: H literality.

- 59:10Speaker 2: They are not there a turn. But I started to dido,
- 59:18Speaker 2: are not doom you not do?
- 59:25Speaker 4: Turn the talking on the barandina that we turn the Caterra.
- 59:33Speaker 4: Hoo l hold. We turned the thought over Katerra
