Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Hey, welcome to the bonus segment. You know, if you're
- 0:02Speaker 1: a podcast listener, every weekend, we give you a little
- 0:04Speaker 1: extra show, a little bonus segment because we love our
- 0:07Speaker 1: podcast audience. So a lot going on this week. You know,
- 0:12Speaker 1: in the Los Angeles they had the Nightmare wildfire that
- 0:15Speaker 1: destroyed all those homes, destroyed huge parts of Los Angeles, devastating.
- 0:20Speaker 1: So you've got to rebuild all these homes. Well, it's
- 0:24Speaker 1: taken forever and nothing's getting done. Nobody's rebuilding any homes
- 0:28Speaker 1: because in California, you know, it's Gavin Newsom and others
- 0:31Speaker 1: like that running the whole place. Nobody can get the permits,
- 0:35Speaker 1: everything's held up, everything's a bureaucratic mess. So President Trump
- 0:39Speaker 1: this week signed an executive order. Now I don't know
- 0:42Speaker 1: if you can do this or how this would work,
- 0:43Speaker 1: but he signed an executive order for the Feds to
- 0:46Speaker 1: take over LA's Nightmare and he and the FEDS will
- 0:51Speaker 1: help rebuild all of these homes. Now, it'll sidestep somehow.
- 0:56Speaker 1: I guess there's a way to do this. They must
- 0:57Speaker 1: have figured this out. There's a way for the FEDS
- 0:59Speaker 1: to sidestep all the California Red tape and fast track
- 1:05Speaker 1: the rebuilding of Los Angeles. Now, this is a year later.
- 1:07Speaker 1: It's been a year and nothing happening, nothing getting rebuilt.
- 1:10Speaker 1: So the feds can take over. President Trump said, I
- 1:13Speaker 1: want to see if we can take over the city
- 1:15Speaker 1: and state process, give the people their permits they want
- 1:18Speaker 1: to build, get it done. So far like ninety nine
- 1:22Speaker 1: percent of no, I think it's ninety percent of the
- 1:26Speaker 1: homes destroyed have not received have not received their approvals,
- 1:32Speaker 1: and they can't move forward. This is a year later.
- 1:35Speaker 1: So Trump's orders designed to preempt I guess. I mean
- 1:39Speaker 1: he must have checked this out, and they legally can
- 1:41Speaker 1: do it. The feds can preempt the building permit process
- 1:45Speaker 1: and empower the federal government to help you. Now, remember
- 1:47Speaker 1: Trump's a real estate developer. Nobody can build stuff better
- 1:50Speaker 1: or faster than Donald Trump. So he wants to see
- 1:53Speaker 1: this get done. He wants to fix this now. The
- 1:55Speaker 1: only problem is he'll be heroic. He'll get Los Angeles rebuilt.
- 2:00Speaker 1: Everything will be wonderful, But the elections for presidents not
- 2:03Speaker 1: till twenty twenty eight. So Los Angeles will be fixed
- 2:07Speaker 1: up and everything will be great. Now, I don't know
- 2:09Speaker 1: that will anybody remember that it was Trump that did
- 2:11Speaker 1: it and not Gavin Newsom. Maybe to better leave it
- 2:14Speaker 1: a shamble so the Newsom can't run with all that
- 2:18Speaker 1: Rex sitting there. The Trump administration will take over the
- 2:24Speaker 1: permitting process and then a lot of these restrictions come from,
- 2:27Speaker 1: like the EPA and those kind of agencies. It takes forever.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Those will all be lifted. The Army Corps of Engineers.
- 2:36Speaker 1: You know, Trump has actually sped things up, Like there
- 2:38Speaker 1: was an EPA study was supposed to take ninety days.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Trump yelldon screamed, and they did it in thirty days.
- 2:43Speaker 1: You know. It was the Army Corps of Engineers that
- 2:46Speaker 1: was supposed to clean up the debris. They said they
- 2:47Speaker 1: would take eighteen months. Trump got mad and said it
- 2:51Speaker 1: wasn't good enough. They got it done in eight months.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Small business Business Administration is supposed to come in with
- 2:57Speaker 1: the loans, and they were getting it done. They were struggling.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Trump administration fixed it, got it all done. CBS News, CBS.
- 3:08Speaker 1: You know, they got a new boss. There's trying to
- 3:10Speaker 1: clean house and there's mutiny going on there. She's fiddling
- 3:15Speaker 1: around with sixty minutes and all this stuff. Well, Now
- 3:18Speaker 1: there's so many people there, left wing, crazy, angry, left wing, biased, partisan?
- 3:24Speaker 1: What do you do? How do you battle them? While
- 3:25Speaker 1: she wants to get rid of them, So she's offering
- 3:28Speaker 1: them buyouts. The network has begun offering big buyouts to
- 3:32Speaker 1: these staffers that don't like this and want to leave.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Let them leave it where she says, we're offering an
- 3:37Speaker 1: extraordinary chance to leave CBS News with an enhanced separation payment.
- 3:43Speaker 1: In other words, we'll pay her whatever you want. Just
- 3:45Speaker 1: get the hell out of here. Let us fix this place.
- 3:49Speaker 1: So she's got a new anchor on the Evening News,
- 3:53Speaker 1: and the Evening News is less biased. It's it's still
- 3:56Speaker 1: a little biased, but that's okay. It was always there.
- 3:58Speaker 1: It was always a little slim, even with Dan Rather,
- 4:02Speaker 1: well a lot with Dan Rather, but even with Walter Cronkite,
- 4:04Speaker 1: So that's okay. She's also hired nineteen new contributors. Now
- 4:09Speaker 1: a contributor at a network as somebody who's a guest
- 4:13Speaker 1: like all day and night. Like you know, if there's
- 4:15Speaker 1: a Fox News contributor, there's a CNN contributor. In other words,
- 4:18Speaker 1: like a Scott Jennings, somebody who's on a million shows,
- 4:21Speaker 1: all day and night. They're like regular permanent guests commentators.
- 4:25Speaker 1: She just hired nineteen of them. But the interesting thing is,
- 4:29Speaker 1: if this for the old CBS, all nineteen would be
- 4:31Speaker 1: crazy left wing kooks. But the nineteen she's hired many
- 4:35Speaker 1: of them are conservatives, conservative historians, conservative think tank people.
- 4:40Speaker 1: She even hired hr McMaster, former Trump chief of staff. Now,
- 4:44Speaker 1: this is going to upset a lot of people at CBS,
- 4:47Speaker 1: but that's why the buyouts. At the same time, you
- 4:50Speaker 1: can huff and puff or just take a lot of
- 4:51Speaker 1: money and leave. So looks like she's doing a good
- 4:54Speaker 1: job there. Hey, Apple CEO Tim Cook has said that
- 5:01Speaker 1: Apple sales have skyrocketed in four years, especially in the
- 5:05Speaker 1: past year, they've really jumped. Now. You know, every year
- 5:08Speaker 1: they come out with a whole new, much better phone.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Not everybody wants it right away, but but apparently everybody
- 5:15Speaker 1: likes the seventeen for some reason or other. It's it's
- 5:18Speaker 1: sales are huge, staggering. Now the only thing Apple is
- 5:23Speaker 1: the best of everything, except they're a little behind in
- 5:26Speaker 1: the AI world. They never quite got into AI enough.
- 5:29Speaker 1: They're way way behind. But that's okay. Remember they're mostly
- 5:33Speaker 1: a hardware company. But the Apple AI Assistant, they're Ai Siri.
- 5:39Speaker 1: He also revealed it's going to be powered by Google's Gemini,
- 5:43Speaker 1: so they're gonna partner with Google on that. You know,
- 5:46Speaker 1: a lot of retail stores are closing big, big trouble,
- 5:49Speaker 1: and Sacks Fifth Avenue of bankruptcy one of the things
- 5:53Speaker 1: they're gonna do. They got those other stores they're called
- 5:55Speaker 1: sacks Off Fifth. Those are like the outlet stores, but
- 5:58Speaker 1: they're all over the place. That chain has become huge,
- 6:02Speaker 1: although now apparently part of the bankruptcy, they're going to
- 6:05Speaker 1: get rid of that. Yeah, they're going to close most
- 6:08Speaker 1: of them. Fifty seven stores will close. Now. The reason
- 6:12Speaker 1: this is important, they're all over the place. Even if
- 6:15Speaker 1: you're in the suburbs the sacks Off Fifth near you.
- 6:17Speaker 1: They're in the city, So wherever you are, there's a
- 6:20Speaker 1: sacks Off Fifth. But when they're closing fifty seven stores
- 6:23Speaker 1: and then thirty four right now, twenty three soon in
- 6:27Speaker 1: a couple of weeks. When they close these stores, they
- 6:30Speaker 1: get rid of everything they have to liquidate, so it's
- 6:33Speaker 1: like ninety percent off. So check a sacks Off Fifth
- 6:36Speaker 1: near You're going to get incredible bargains. Is they just
- 6:38Speaker 1: quickly want to get rid of everything. They'll keep a
- 6:41Speaker 1: couple of them, just a couple of Garden City with
- 6:43Speaker 1: Bury Common. But those are the ones in the Tri
- 6:48Speaker 1: State area. Hey, Hunter Biden back in court. Apparently the
- 6:53Speaker 1: ex wife or not was your wife? No, just a girlfriend.
- 6:57Speaker 1: This stripper you remember, Hunter Biden, except with the stripper
- 7:01Speaker 1: gets her pregnant. The kid is now seven. He was
- 7:04Speaker 1: in court before. The whole Biden family will he will
- 7:08Speaker 1: not acknowledge this daughter. Joe Biden will not acknowledge the granddaughter.
- 7:12Speaker 1: They'll pay no attention to her. They don't want to
- 7:14Speaker 1: see her. Pretty cold. But he made some kind of
- 7:17Speaker 1: settlement a while back, twenty twenty three to pay some
- 7:22Speaker 1: kind of child support and pay a settlement, and that's it.
- 7:25Speaker 1: That's the end of it. So now the stripper is
- 7:27Speaker 1: back in court going after a Hunter again. She wants
- 7:30Speaker 1: more child support and he's been and she's upset that
- 7:36Speaker 1: he ghosted his own daughter. But but Hunter pretty cold
- 7:41Speaker 1: about it. He said he does not want to talk
- 7:43Speaker 1: to the kid. He doesn't want to see the kid.
- 7:45Speaker 1: He wants nothing to do with it. Same thing with
- 7:48Speaker 1: Joe Biden. They don't want to see this granddaughter. They
- 7:50Speaker 1: don't want any part of it now. Apparently tried to
- 7:53Speaker 1: pay her off at one point with paintings. Remember these
- 7:55Speaker 1: paintings were worth four hundred thousand, five hundred thousand million
- 7:59Speaker 1: dollars of painting. It was just influence peddling. Now that
- 8:01Speaker 1: Biden's gone and retired and useless, the paintings are worth
- 8:06Speaker 1: absolutely nothing. Hey, Mam Donnie, what do we think. It's
- 8:12Speaker 1: only been a couple of weeks. Mam Donnie had one
- 8:17Speaker 1: major disaster. Apparently, he told the police and all the organizations,
- 8:21Speaker 1: do not remove the homeless from the street. And one
- 8:25Speaker 1: reason under Adams, especially in the last year or two,
- 8:27Speaker 1: streets looked pretty good is they would move the homeless camps,
- 8:30Speaker 1: they would remove them. They would take the homeless off
- 8:33Speaker 1: the street, take them to shelters. So Mamdani ordered his
- 8:37Speaker 1: police and all of the departments, do not remove any
- 8:40Speaker 1: homeless camps. Don't bother the homeless affair on the street.
- 8:44Speaker 1: You're not allowed to even enter any one of their
- 8:46Speaker 1: tents or anything unless it's a medical emergency. So he
- 8:50Speaker 1: did not remove them from the street, did not touch
- 8:53Speaker 1: the homeless camps. Then the storm hit, the freezing cold
- 8:58Speaker 1: and ten died. He got ten dead homeless because mom
- 9:02Speaker 1: Donnie left them on the street. Now, again, all these
- 9:07Speaker 1: policies that he likes, all this socialist nonsense, all this
- 9:10Speaker 1: crazy stuff he does, his ideas of policing all end
- 9:14Speaker 1: up in dead people, more people dead, more crime, and
- 9:17Speaker 1: in his homeless policy. Now's you got to think maybe
- 9:22Speaker 1: is affecting him. Maybe it'll get to him. He's responsible
- 9:24Speaker 1: for ten people dead. Now, if he were a Republican mayor,
- 9:28Speaker 1: you'd be reading about this all day and night. But
- 9:31Speaker 1: he's a Democrat, so you're not going to hear about it.
- 9:33Speaker 1: But hopefully it shakes him up enough to start changing
- 9:37Speaker 1: some of his policies. Bernie Sanders is idol the guy
- 9:41Speaker 1: that helps swear him in. You know, he's been on
- 9:43Speaker 1: the Holocaust Museum board for many years, eighteen years. Now.
- 9:49Speaker 1: You're saying, well, that's good that he's concerned about this
- 9:51Speaker 1: helping the Holocaust Museum board. Well, the Holocaust Museum reports
- 9:57Speaker 1: that he's never shown up once for any board meeting.
- 10:00Speaker 1: It's a big event when they have these board meeting,
- 10:01Speaker 1: These people fly in from all over the country. For
- 10:04Speaker 1: eighteen years, he has managed to miss every single board meeting. Ever,
- 10:10Speaker 1: so that tells you what he thinks about that. Hey,
- 10:14Speaker 1: third hand smoke. You know, secondhand smoke is bad for you.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Maybe you're not smoking, but the people around you're smoking
- 10:20Speaker 1: and you're inhaling a lot of this. There's now a
- 10:22Speaker 1: new thing called third hand smoke, third hand smoke. In fact,
- 10:26Speaker 1: the California Assembly passed a bill requiring homeowners to disclose
- 10:32Speaker 1: any history of third hand smoke. What is third hand smoke? Well,
- 10:36Speaker 1: that means, like you say, you sell your house and
- 10:38Speaker 1: it was smokers living in the house, and they smoked
- 10:41Speaker 1: in the house for years, and you're supposed to report
- 10:44Speaker 1: that now, and it's going to affect the sale price.
- 10:47Speaker 1: They're claiming they have some science that show that smoke
- 10:50Speaker 1: lingers in places even when nobody's smoking, that there's chemical residue.
- 10:55Speaker 1: It's in the fabrics, it sticks to surfaces. I don't know.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I don't know. And there's actually a California law. You
- 11:03Speaker 1: can be in all kinds of trouble if you don't
- 11:05Speaker 1: reveal that there was third hand smoke in the house
- 11:08Speaker 1: at any time. Hey, if you have Tesla or you're
- 11:12Speaker 1: thinking of electric cars, a couple of things. A Tesla
- 11:14Speaker 1: owner completed the first fully autonomous drive across America. You know,
- 11:21Speaker 1: driverless car. You just sit there while the car drives itself.
- 11:25Speaker 1: First time one ever crossed America. Twenty seven hundred miles,
- 11:31Speaker 1: went from Los Angeles, California, to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
- 11:35Speaker 1: through twenty four Oh no, it took two days and
- 11:39Speaker 1: twenty hours, but the car did it. That's the first time.
- 11:42Speaker 1: This is like Lindbergh crossing the Atlantic. Driverless Tesla crossed
- 11:47Speaker 1: America pretty good. Oh. The other thing about the Tesla,
- 11:51Speaker 1: you know the problem with the electric car. But there's
- 11:52Speaker 1: a lot of problems the electric car. One of them
- 11:55Speaker 1: is you got to charge the battery. When you know,
- 11:57Speaker 1: you go to a gas station, pump your gas. It
- 11:59Speaker 1: takes two minutes, so you're gone. You want to go
- 12:02Speaker 1: in and charge your battery where you hang out at
- 12:04Speaker 1: the mobile station for an hour and a half. It's ridiculous.
- 12:07Speaker 1: But they've made some breakthroughs in these batteries. There is
- 12:11Speaker 1: one now that's being developed. Some of the batteries being
- 12:14Speaker 1: developed can charge very very fast. You can get a
- 12:18Speaker 1: really quick charge, a six hundred mile charge, much much faster.
- 12:23Speaker 1: I'm looking at how much time does it say, yeah,
- 12:26Speaker 1: forty five minutes. No less, actually less. Electric car batteries
- 12:30Speaker 1: can reach six hundred miles in a quick recharge. So
- 12:33Speaker 1: if they keep doing this, keep developing these batteries so
- 12:36Speaker 1: they can go much longer, much faster, that will change everything.
- 12:40Speaker 1: Maybe then people will actually want an electric car. The
- 12:44Speaker 1: only other problem is you wouldn't have been able to
- 12:46Speaker 1: use your car this week because it's electric. Electric stuff
- 12:49Speaker 1: can freeze up and not work, So if you were
- 12:52Speaker 1: in New York City, your electric car would be totally
- 12:55Speaker 1: useless for the past week. Now, that would mean if
- 12:58Speaker 1: you live in any place that's subject to cold ten amperatures,
- 13:00Speaker 1: you can't do it. So that's a big, big reason
- 13:03Speaker 1: to stay away from it. Hey, that's the bonus segment
- 13:06Speaker 1: of the podcast. We're so glad you listening to the podcast,
- 13:10Speaker 1: and we do a bonus segment every weekend. Otherwise, I'm
- 13:12Speaker 1: here live ten to noon Monday through Friday, and you
- 13:16Speaker 1: can follow me on Twitter and Instagram and all that stuff.
- 13:19Speaker 1: Otherwise I'll see a Monday morning at ten on seven
- 13:23Speaker 1: to ten wor Mark Simone. Thanks for listening.
