- 0:19So like always, we're going to have a discussion for an hour on
- 0:24in Hebrews here and we would welcome your comments or your
- 0:28questions. Last week we had Cam Cameron, I
- 0:34think his name is come on and helped us out a little bit.
- 0:37That was very interesting. I appreciated that.
- 0:40So you're welcome to do the same.
- 0:42You can hit that little raise hand button on your screen and I
- 0:46can unmute you if you want to talk or you can just type into
- 0:49the chat on Facebook, YouTube or on this webinar platform that we
- 0:55are on now. You can see past live streams on
- 0:58Facebook and YouTube recordings and links to those places are
- 1:02all on our website www.simplychristbin.com.
- 1:06You can see everything there. So yeah, tonight we are going to
- 1:11start in Hebrews chapter 10 verse one and we're going to
- 1:16just look at the few verses in there, some really good
- 1:18scripture I believe and get going there.
- 1:21So we just got kicked off here, a couple guys did.
- 1:25You're all back. So we're good.
- 1:27So Dad, would you pray for us as we start?
- 1:29Absolutely. Father, we come to you this
- 1:32afternoon, evening in the name of Jesus, and we thank you first
- 1:35of all today about and for your law that you gave to the Jewish
- 1:40people. We're thankful, God, that you
- 1:42had them establish the Levitical priesthood and the sacrifices
- 1:46and the Tabernacle and all those great, great pictures that we
- 1:50can now look back on and learn from.
- 1:52But ultimately we thank you much more so that you came and
- 1:55fulfilled those things in real time and in real life.
- 1:59We thank you, God, that we have been made one with you.
- 2:02We've been sanctified, set apart, freed from sin, and made
- 2:06to be holy and righteous because of this great work.
- 2:09We do pray God this evening as we go through your word that we
- 2:12would be homeless in our thoughts that we only.
- 2:17Speak of you. We thank you for this
- 2:22opportunity. We pray you bless it in Jesus
- 2:24name. All righty Hebrews chapter 10
- 2:36right here. First one it says for the law
- 2:40having a shadow of good things to come and not the very image
- 2:43of the things, and never with those sacrifices which they
- 2:47offered year by year continually make the commerce thereunto
- 2:51perfect. So very good scripture.
- 2:54This is saying exactly what it has already been saying leading
- 3:00up to this. I would like to read the last
- 3:03verse in Chapter 9 that we ended on last week as so Christ was
- 3:08once offered to bear the sins of many and unto them that look for
- 3:12him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.
- 3:19And so anyway, this this just goes it I I like it.
- 3:24It's actually pretty strong language if you look at it and
- 3:27I'll let you go ahead Aaron. But he says stuff in here and he
- 3:31will as we go on through this, he says can never make perfect,
- 3:38you know, And it's I like it. It's concrete.
- 3:42He's sure he's positive that this is right what he is saying.
- 3:47So, Eric, go ahead. I always when I'm preaching on
- 3:54this, I always give that analogy of, and I gave it on here.
- 4:00If, if the sign is at my back and I'm around the corner from
- 4:04you, you can see that there is a man standing there.
- 4:08You might tell by his figure, his short haircut or the build
- 4:12of his body. It's a man, but you'd have no
- 4:14idea what man it was, right? It's just a shadow of the real
- 4:17thing. And I just think that that's
- 4:21that is a great picture because that's what he just said, the
- 4:25law having a shadow of good things to come, but not the very
- 4:29image of the things. You know, what makes me think
- 4:32about is those two that was on the road to Emmaus there.
- 4:36And Jesus comes up and joins himself to him after his
- 4:40resurrection. And they're walking along and he
- 4:43asked him like he doesn't know what's going on.
- 4:45They're like, are you new to Jerusalem?
- 4:47And and they tell him about Christ and he says old fools and
- 4:52slow of heart to believe all that the scriptures say.
- 4:55And he starts at Moses and expounds on them all the
- 4:59scriptures concerning himself. And they say it did our hearts
- 5:02not burn within us? Like in other words, it would be
- 5:07if you can picture this, if you're seeing a shadow, which is
- 5:10what the law was, it's, it's a, I hate to say it's a blurry
- 5:14vision, but it's just not a clear vision, right?
- 5:17It's just a casting of something.
- 5:20And then if you saw the real thing, which many Jews did,
- 5:24right? I mean, many Jews did see it
- 5:27when they started seeing the real picture, I think it would
- 5:30have been like those two on the road to Emmaus, Their hearts
- 5:32burned, right? When Christ is actually saying,
- 5:35this was me, this is what I accomplished, this is what I
- 5:39did. They are getting that shadow,
- 5:42like if you could picture, I know you've seen this, maybe in
- 5:45a movie or whatever, something is blurred and then the camera
- 5:49zooms back into it and you can see the clear image of it.
- 5:53Like he's expounding that clear image to them.
- 5:56They, they, they would have been able to make so many more
- 5:59connections that I could have made because I'm, I wasn't
- 6:03living in that time. I wasn't seeing all those
- 6:05sacrifice. I can look back.
- 6:06I can take what history says, what this says and make a lot of
- 6:09good connections, but to them, it should have been this just
- 6:14astounding heart burning thing to realize that he was the
- 6:18actual picture that the law was casting forth.
- 6:22You know, like that's what I think about when I read that
- 6:25verse. You know, it's it's not it was a
- 6:27shadow of good things kind of, but not the very image.
- 6:31And then as Leon said there, it's it's I've said this already
- 6:36in other chapters. He's really like he's hurting
- 6:39their feelings for the people that don't see it.
- 6:41You know, he's hurting their feelings now because he says can
- 6:45never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year
- 6:48continually make the comers aren't too perfect.
- 6:51Like it. It could not work.
- 6:54Just couldn't work. Yeah.
- 6:57And that must have been frustrating to them because they
- 7:01had spent all these years perfecting this this method.
- 7:05Well, and, and I guess I would say that that is the, it's like,
- 7:09kind of like the halt in between two opinions.
- 7:11You know, like you either see the image clearly now or you
- 7:16choose to reject this concept of Christ, right?
- 7:18I mean that you're kind of faced with that.
- 7:20You know, if he's saying it can't work, it never worked, it
- 7:24it won't work, then you are faced with a choice.
- 7:27Am I going to believe that Christ is a real image of this?
- 7:30Or am I going to go back and say no, that's the real thing right
- 7:32there? Yep.
- 7:34Hey, man, go ahead, Dad. Good stuff.
- 7:37Hey, Yeah. This this past weekend, I was
- 7:40preaching at a camp for a church that meets in Niagara Falls near
- 7:45about two hours from our place here.
- 7:47And it was funny. I was.
- 7:49I was using an illustration or not an illustration.
- 7:52I quoted Andrew and I actually said in the sermon, I said I do
- 7:57this online Bible study and there's this Amish man that a
- 8:00former Amish man that was in there and and I wish you could
- 8:03all meet him. I would love for you to hear it
- 8:05from him directly. He said last week that and I
- 8:08wasn't on the study, but I listened to it.
- 8:10He said that if I could have a megaphone and blare into every
- 8:13denomination, every congregation, everywhere, I
- 8:16would use this one word. I would just say once and then I
- 8:20went through this last part of Hebrews 9 and it was just, you
- 8:23know, once, once, once and it was a really beautiful thing.
- 8:26And then wouldn't you have, wouldn't you know it, two young
- 8:28couples come to me after and they say, were you talking about
- 8:32Andrew Schrock? The one, the one was a, a
- 8:38Reticop family and the other was a Lowen family, I believe.
- 8:41And they know you from down to Tennessee perhaps.
- 8:44And they, they're coming out to your, your camp here shortly.
- 8:47So I'm there to grow up, probably.
- 8:49Yeah, yeah. So.
- 8:51It was pretty neat. But anyway, that's kind of
- 8:53besides the point here. But what stood out to me and
- 8:56what I tried to point out to them, I on on Thursday night, I
- 9:00don't know if this Friday morning I spoke on Hebrews 1 and
- 9:022, the overcoming man and how he's better than Adam and better
- 9:05than the angels. And then I did chapters 3:00 and
- 9:084:00. And then in on Friday evening, I
- 9:10did a Saturday morning, I did chapters 7 and eight, more or
- 9:14less kind of summed up some of those things.
- 9:16And then a Sunday morning with the whole church present, which
- 9:19the other wasn't, was just part of their church.
- 9:22I got into this passage here, chapter 10.
- 9:24And so it's kind of neat how fresh it is still on my mind,
- 9:27right? But the thing that really stands
- 9:30out to me is that people don't recognize, and the Jews maybe
- 9:34recognize that more than anyone else, but they were also failing
- 9:38to see it, is that God's standard is perfection.
- 9:42You know, most people are trying to come to God with the best
- 9:45that they have, with sorrow, with sadness, with repentance,
- 9:49with confession, with tears and whatever else.
- 9:52But what God is after is perfection.
- 9:54And if, if the blood offering of the Old Testament Saints never
- 9:59made them perfect, then the obvious conclusion would be that
- 10:04just being really, really sorry and sad and sorrowful and
- 10:07repentant is not sufficient either.
- 10:09The the comers unto God must be perfect.
- 10:13And I like just by implication, what this what this verse is
- 10:16telling us. The law was a shadow, as Aaron
- 10:19pointed out very aptly, an image of the things, not the very
- 10:22image of the things. And those sacrifices could
- 10:25never, never make anyone perfect.
- 10:28By implication, he's already starting to lean to the idea,
- 10:31which he's going to expound on further in the coming verses,
- 10:34that this new covenant does make the comers perfect.
- 10:38So there's something really in it to celebrate in our on our
- 10:41behalf here, especially in the coming verses.
- 10:43You should. Velvet.
- 10:46Yeah, so I think it's kind of interesting.
- 10:48You know, we discussed last week about that, the Tabernacle and
- 10:56the earthly Tabernacle, he says in verse 25, you know, I can't
- 11:06leave my height, my my eyes on it.
- 11:08He said that it is now I can't see it.
- 11:12I just need my eyes on it. Oh, the pattern of things in
- 11:16verse 23, it says he called the earthly Tabernacle the pattern
- 11:21of things in the heavens. Like compared to the earthly
- 11:25Tabernacle where Christ sits at the right hand of the Father
- 11:29today he said that that the earthly Tabernacle was just a
- 11:32pattern. So now he's going into the law,
- 11:35right? So he just, in the previous
- 11:37chapter, we went through the Tabernacle, right?
- 11:39And the sacrifices, there was just a pattern.
- 11:42Now he's going into the law and he says the very thing about the
- 11:45law, right? And so if you think about it, he
- 11:48was writing this to the Hebrew believers there that I think
- 11:53we're mostly Jewish, right? And so he's really like wrecking
- 11:58their thinking, right? Because now he's saying this
- 12:01law, this Mosaic law, this earthly law was just a shadow
- 12:08and this was probably very hard for them.
- 12:11To. Swallow, right?
- 12:13But think about it like you describing Aaron about the
- 12:17shadow. You described that perfectly.
- 12:19But think about it. If you can see a shadow of like,
- 12:23let's say Leon, you know, you might be able to see that he has
- 12:27a beard possibly and and that it it might be a man, but you can't
- 12:31really see that it's Leon. But if you see the actual image,
- 12:35like you can see a picture of him now, he he looks so much
- 12:40better than his shadow, right? And so, and he does.
- 12:44I mean, you know, reality, right?
- 12:47There's nothing wrong with his shadow.
- 12:48No, there isn't, but he looks better than his shadow.
- 12:51So it so much better this new covenant or this new Christ is
- 12:58going to look like to them and to us then this shadow of the
- 13:05law. And so I think that's just so
- 13:07cool how he describes that and it's something that we can
- 13:11actually grasp in our in our minds right.
- 13:15And then, yeah, like he says there that like you describe
- 13:19Dan, that he, God commands to be, he wants perfection then.
- 13:24And we don't think about that so many times, right?
- 13:28I mean, we, we think we can come to God somehow in some way and
- 13:31please him in some way with our works and our doings and our
- 13:35whatever we're trying to come to God with.
- 13:38And he demands perfection. And that is only through Christ
- 13:43Jesus so. That's good.
- 13:46And you know, as far as like the real thing being better, the
- 13:51reason that it's better is that the real image actually has
- 13:56emotions. You, you can appreciate him or
- 14:01her. You like their temperament,
- 14:04their idiosyncrasies, all the things about them.
- 14:07And you don't have any of that in the shadow like 1
- 14:11dimensional. All you can see is his shape.
- 14:13There's no, there's no temperament there.
- 14:16There's no nothing else like that.
- 14:18So that's why maybe not better looking.
- 14:23Some people might be better off with just a shadow.
- 14:25I know. I'm kidding.
- 14:26I'm kidding. Fine, Andrew.
- 14:28Yeah, I was kind of brainstorming too, with that
- 14:32word image. I don't know how you guys are
- 14:37looking at photos of old, you know, pioneers of America.
- 14:42When I see an old wagon and a team of horses and big old giant
- 14:48logs that I wonder how in the world they got them logs loaded
- 14:51up on that wagon and how in the world them horses pulled that
- 14:54load of logs. It just looks impossible.
- 14:56The pictures I see of these big huge redwoods, I can fantasize
- 15:02and talk about that image that that picture and what it must
- 15:05have smelt like and what it felt like.
- 15:08But it's actually dead to me though, because I I can just
- 15:12imagine. And I'm glad that today we have
- 15:16more than an image of something that is good.
- 15:20I'm glad that he revealed the mystery.
- 15:24I'm glad that the time of reformation has come and he has
- 15:30given us the spirit that was within us that cries Alpha
- 15:34father. We don't have to just look at a
- 15:35picture and go, man, I wish I could go gather SAT back there
- 15:40back then when they did with the horses and the sled and, you
- 15:43know, just try to feel that old tiny.
- 15:46You know, everybody wants to feel like get that experience.
- 15:50So that's why we watch old fashioned or how to make things
- 15:54to some of the most popular videos now, because people love
- 15:58to see how other people do things.
- 16:00They just don't want to do it themselves.
- 16:01See, but so that's what I was thinking about the image we got.
- 16:08We're we got we're beyond the image.
- 16:10We the the the real, the old came like we're living it now.
- 16:14And the next, the other, the main one.
- 16:17I was it really gets my attention.
- 16:19Is the word perfect? The law couldn't make anybody
- 16:28perfect but that yet that was the requirement.
- 16:31And if you were a Jew, listen to that, you're like, you know,
- 16:35that's a problem. The law does not make me
- 16:39perfect. And and it says year by year.
- 16:43So the thought you guys already expounded, Dan, especially
- 16:46already expounded on the word perfect.
- 16:48So I'm not going to expound too much on that.
- 16:50But one thing that I thought about that was eye opening to me
- 16:55or just another confirmation was he said year after year, year by
- 17:00year. So what is the plan he's making
- 17:06is that they had to do this over and over, year by year.
- 17:11So for all those people that have a real hard time with the
- 17:15idea that Jesus Christ took away our sins past, present and
- 17:19future, if he didn't, is it then now month by month in Christ
- 17:28like the new? That is not just the image, that
- 17:32is what the real deal. Is it worse than the law because
- 17:39the law was year by year? Is it now week by week?
- 17:43Day by day. Day by day it was.
- 17:46Some people say that it's day by day.
- 17:49Moment by moment. Moment by moment, you don't
- 17:53believe that they're all done. And like some of the Amish guys
- 17:58I was talking to a week ago, they they would say that your
- 18:03sins are not forgiven until you repent it and confess to each
- 18:08one of them. So is there a timer when
- 18:11repentance is fulfilled? Like what do you got?
- 18:15Like one of them saying things like, who tells you gauges
- 18:19whether the time of repentance has attained to the amount that
- 18:27it took in order for God to say, OK, I can forgive that person.
- 18:31And then let's say six months down the road, you do the same
- 18:35sin again. Is the first repentance
- 18:38canceled? Are you back under those sins
- 18:41again? Because can you prove that that
- 18:44was a true repentance and you did the same sin again six
- 18:49months later? Like who judges all those
- 18:52things? So when people say that they
- 18:54believe the gospel, that they believe salvation, that they
- 18:57believe that Jesus Christ is what is our way to heaven, and
- 19:01then yet they say those things, then someone's lying.
- 19:05You're lying about one thing. Either you're lying about your
- 19:08idea of believing that it's your responsibility to be forgiven
- 19:14each and every time, or you're lying about the idea that Christ
- 19:18came to make you right before God.
- 19:21You can't believe that salvation is without works through faith
- 19:25and that Jesus Christ took all your sins, and also believe that
- 19:31it's up to you whether you're going to be forgiven or not.
- 19:34It can't be both. If it is up to you to be
- 19:36forgiven, then it's not salvation.
- 19:39It can't be. You can't know it's it's
- 19:44hopeless. So I just love how he says that
- 19:48it could not make anyone perfect.
- 19:50Then he likes to use that word perfect quite a bit.
- 19:53So I think what people get mixed up is like in Second Timothy it
- 19:58says I'm going to start in verse chapter 3, verse 14, but
- 20:05continue down to things which has learned and has been assured
- 20:08of knowing of home that has learned them and that from a
- 20:13child. Thou has known the Holy
- 20:15Scriptures which are able to make thee wise unto salvation
- 20:18through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
- 20:21All scriptures given by inspiration of God, and is
- 20:24profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for
- 20:27instruction and righteousness, that the man of God may be
- 20:30perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
- 20:35So most people would say we know it.
- 20:39Quote that and there's many others also the distinction that
- 20:46a lot of times we don't make and maybe I'm not good at making
- 20:50people think I don't make that distinction.
- 20:52I think I do I think I try at least so I thought well we need
- 20:56to maybe talk about this here more.
- 21:00He does talk about works and how to act and how to live in
- 21:04response to have him having made us perfect because both can't be
- 21:13true as a work in Christ. Like Christ would be going back
- 21:20on his promise. He would be back peddling or
- 21:24backtracking or he would be withdrawing from his promise
- 21:30when he said that he took away sins and made us perfect in him.
- 21:35If he then turns around and say says now you have to be perfect
- 21:39in order for this to be true like that, it it wouldn't work.
- 21:45God would be lying if he says that he took our and made us
- 21:49righteous. So let's look at another one in
- 21:55Hebrews 13 it says make you perfect in every good work to do
- 22:04his will working in you that which is well pleasing his
- 22:07sight, sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory forever
- 22:11and ever, Amen. So he's talking about, it has to
- 22:16be that he's talking about our actions in response to the
- 22:20gospel, because in Hebrews 12/23 it says to the General Assembly
- 22:28and Church of the first born, which are written in heaven.
- 22:31So that's where we're the people of believers are, and to God,
- 22:35the judge of all and to the spirits of just men made
- 22:40perfect. So if God made us perfect, then
- 22:48us doing his will is not what made us perfect, right?
- 22:55It can't be both. I don't know.
- 22:58I'm not doing a good job of explaining my thoughts.
- 23:00Maybe somebody else can. I'm I'm, I'm trying to say is we
- 23:05can't mix up our fruit with that God is asking for he's asking us
- 23:13to live according to who he made us, which is perfect.
- 23:17His will is that we were become who we are in Christ.
- 23:23Yeah. Well, let's not mix that up with
- 23:29him having already made his PERT.
- 23:32Right. Yeah, Yeah, I'm glad you bring
- 23:34that to the table. I think that's a good
- 23:36discussion. Aaron, you were.
- 23:37Go ahead. I was just going to say it's to
- 23:42me. I look at it in a in a very
- 23:46simple way. It's like to to do right.
- 23:53It's kind of like the parable that Jesus told about, you know,
- 23:56when you've he gives the gives that parable about the servant
- 24:00and you know, if he's, if he, if his master says, you know, feed
- 24:06me and serve me and then you can go.
- 24:09Get yours, he says. He Does that master think that
- 24:11servant when he's done all that seems to be a great request.
- 24:15Does he think that servant, when he's done that and he says no,
- 24:19he says, you know, he's, he's done that which was requested of
- 24:23him. And he says, and I'm
- 24:25paraphrasing, but basically when you've done all that, you should
- 24:29do consider yourself an unprofitable servant.
- 24:31In other words, I would say in a very simple way, you, you, we
- 24:35should all be doing right. Right, exactly.
- 24:39But we should all be doing the right thing all the time.
- 24:43So we should never argue about whether or not you should do the
- 24:47right thing, right? You know what I mean?
- 24:49Like there's no argument that there there's no way to to kind
- 24:53of argue that, that it's not proper, just and good to try to
- 24:59do the right thing all the time. That's what I'm saying.
- 25:02I mean, is that to me that maybe that's oversimplified, but it's
- 25:05like. Well, he he's even trying to get
- 25:07us to do more so than the image could ever bring about.
- 25:11Good fruit. You know, the first thing people
- 25:17will say, which is I'm finding just more and more ridiculous,
- 25:22is when you share the gospel. This is a simple gospel.
- 25:27They're like when you share, it can sit inconsistent, like be
- 25:32consistent about it. They're like, Oh, well, then you
- 25:35can just send somehow in their mindset, which is a law of
- 25:40mindset that if the opportunity was there, I would love to just
- 25:46go out and do the things that bring forth death.
- 25:49Like seriously, you see how ridiculous that is?
- 25:53If I could, if I could see that if God just paid for my sins, I
- 26:00would go and bring forth death. I would do stuff that would
- 26:03bring. I would go destroy my life if I
- 26:08would, I would lose my marriage, I would go fornicate and I would
- 26:12lose my wife and I would do all these things if I just could get
- 26:15away with it if I could, just if if my sins are all covered
- 26:18somehow, I just want to go out, send the grace of God as much as
- 26:21possible. I'm taking advantage of this
- 26:23grace somehow that somehow we then think that that's how we
- 26:28think like. I But that's not how it works,
- 26:34you know? The love of God's love draws us
- 26:36back to Him. You know too.
- 26:38But you know, I think in this Dad, it sounds like looks like
- 26:42you were going to say something too.
- 26:44But and I would just say this the the the one thing that got
- 26:47muddy in our background and I think that might be there goes
- 26:50those balloons again once strike me every single time.
- 26:55But what I was going to say is that got muddied.
- 26:58So we're talking about salvation and we're talking about fruit.
- 27:02There are two completely different things.
- 27:04They they were in our heritage, the way we grew up.
- 27:07They were very much talked kind of as the same thing, right?
- 27:12I know, yeah. So they were like good works
- 27:16equaled salvation, right? We need to be careful to make a
- 27:20distinction, which is what the author of Hebrews here is doing.
- 27:23He is making sure that we understand.
- 27:25He is not talking about fruit here.
- 27:27He is talking about being perfect.
- 27:29That's right. And so that is that is maybe
- 27:34maybe we get buddied too much in in, in comparing the two or
- 27:38counting them equal to each other.
- 27:39They're not, they're different. They're different.
- 27:41Thank you for clarifying that. That's what I that's much
- 27:44simpler way of saying what I was trying to say that.
- 27:46Thank you for that all. Right.
- 27:49I think sometimes, sorry, I'm just going to make a couple
- 27:52comments. Sometimes people think that
- 27:55because we believe that sin was forgiven once for all, there's
- 27:58nothing you need to do about it ever again, that we think that
- 28:02our sin is really not that bad because it's all forgiven.
- 28:06Every one of them, past, present, future, It's all we
- 28:09take sin very seriously. We repent of every single one.
- 28:13We try hard to be sorry for every time we sin.
- 28:16We don't have that kind of cockiness and and and boldness
- 28:20to say all of our sins are forgiven because we take sin
- 28:23more seriously. And I would like to submit to
- 28:25them and say you do not see sin as serious enough because you
- 28:30think that your sorrow or your confession or your repentance is
- 28:34sufficient. I don't see anything in more
- 28:36blood. Christ was only offered once,
- 28:39and you're not going to get him to sacrifice himself again and
- 28:41again and again. And So what is it that you
- 28:44bring? You could say, well, I bring the
- 28:46blood of Jesus again and again and again.
- 28:48But it was one time like there it was once, once, once right
- 28:53there. There is no second we we have to
- 28:55recognize that before the standing of God as we stand in
- 28:59His presence, we have to be perfect or we have no chance.
- 29:03We cannot be halfway in and out. We cannot be, you know, perfect
- 29:07until we need a new confession, or perfect until we sin and that
- 29:11we have to quickly keep short accounts.
- 29:13Not a single one of us would stand a chance.
- 29:15If you think that you do, you don't see sin as serious enough,
- 29:19not the other way around. That's it.
- 29:21That's what I meant. You know, someday, you know, you
- 29:24have to make me teach me how to speak.
- 29:26That's that's what I'm saying. Great.
- 29:29Good stuff. You did crawling Andrew's head
- 29:33and say what he wanted to say there.
- 29:35Yeah, good stuff. It's hard to teach an Old Amish
- 29:39new tricks. Yeah.
- 29:44Oh, goodness. Oh, it's so good.
- 29:46Yeah, it is. Cameron says Christ is not the
- 29:49minister of sin, which is what Andrew was saying there.
- 29:51It's we don't. I mean, everyone says yeah, but
- 29:54you could just you just say that's where you can live like
- 29:56you want. No, actually, that's not true.
- 30:00Trades us. See, that's someone who doesn't
- 30:03get the concept of love and compassion and father and son
- 30:07and child and being one with someone and unified and in a
- 30:11relationship like that would be like, oh, I got this wife that's
- 30:16so loyal to me and she would just do anything for me.
- 30:18I'm going to go sleep with others because my wife is just
- 30:21so faithful. She will never leave me.
- 30:24She's stuck to me. She's married to me for life
- 30:26until death does part. I'm going to go mess around like
- 30:30that's just an idiot you. Know yeah, it's just.
- 30:32Makes you wonder where these people even like, where's,
- 30:37where's their honor then even you know, or yeah.
- 30:42OK, first two for then would they not have ceased to be
- 30:46offered because that the worshippers, once purged, should
- 30:51have had no more conscience of sense?
- 30:56Yeah, he makes a good argument here.
- 31:00He's saying if they would have been public, if they would have
- 31:02done the job, then we would have stopped.
- 31:04We could have stopped. If he actually would have
- 31:07cleansed us, we could have stopped.
- 31:08But obviously that wasn't the case.
- 31:10So, Eric, go ahead. Yeah, I really, I don't, I don't
- 31:15know. But I doubt that this concept
- 31:20had ever entered their mind like I I would imagine that they
- 31:26expected, you know, we we're good till now.
- 31:30The the priest has come out and said, you know, God's accepted
- 31:33the sacrifice and they just expected, you know, this is
- 31:36going to happen again next year. So I doubt that they've even
- 31:39considered this concept of, I mean, maybe in his writings, but
- 31:42I'm just saying Jew had probably not considered this concept of 1
- 31:47sacrifice for sin forever. Like I don't think they've
- 31:50considered that concept, but he is making that point.
- 31:54I always point out to people that is actually a question,
- 31:56right? Like.
- 31:57The first. Sentence of chapter 2 or verse 2
- 32:00rather is a question. In other words, he's saying,
- 32:03wouldn't he have been able to stop if that actually did its
- 32:06job? And I told Dan this when he
- 32:08interviewed me there and at the Iowa camp, I said, I heard this.
- 32:13I didn't read the book, but I heard a guy talk about reading a
- 32:16book that somebody had wrote about the church Christ.
- 32:19And it was one of the chapters or something was called Drown Me
- 32:22in the Baptistry. And the point of it was, and
- 32:26this is kind of this is basically the same concept.
- 32:28The Jew could have walked away after the Day of Atonement with
- 32:35maybe not even got started down the road.
- 32:37But you know, when he comes out, he could have had a little
- 32:40confidence, right? God has have been atoned for our
- 32:44past, but as he's leaving, he's he's stacking up a new record of
- 32:52sin, right? I mean, as he's walking down the
- 32:55road thinking his thoughts or whatever, he stacked through
- 32:58this new account of sin. So he's like I said, I don't
- 33:04know. I don't know if they've ever
- 33:05thought about it. I feel like this is the
- 33:06clearest. He has said it up to.
- 33:09This point even in this book, in my opinion, he's asking the
- 33:12question, think about it guys, if that sacrifice for sin
- 33:16actually would have worked, we would have just stopped like
- 33:20Moses would offered the first one and we'd all be good.
- 33:25But he's and he's making that point, obviously going to make
- 33:28his already made the point, but is going to continue to make
- 33:31that point in this chapter that that's why Christ could come in,
- 33:37do the thing once and be done and to all your all's points and
- 33:42it would last and keep going, keep covering outside of
- 33:48anything you do. It just keeps on going, right?
- 33:52Very good. Damn.
- 33:55Andrew has mentioned several times through this study that
- 33:58the author just kind of keeps hammering the same points over
- 34:01and over and over again. And I noticed that a lot more so
- 34:03when I studied for this weekend because I kind of went back to
- 34:06some of the early chapters again.
- 34:07And I had just gone through them twice online with you guys then
- 34:11in my little WhatsApp group. But the very first 2 verses of
- 34:14the whole book. God, who at sundry times and in
- 34:16diverse manners speak unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in
- 34:19these last days spoken us to by his Son.
- 34:22And he says in verse 3 being the brightness of the glory, express
- 34:25image of his person. We talked about image here
- 34:28already too, how the law came. It kind of gave us a bit of an
- 34:31image. But the real image is Christ,
- 34:34the express image of his person upholding all things by the word
- 34:37of his power when he had by himself purged our sins, sat
- 34:42down at the right hand of the majesty on high.
- 34:45So the third verse of this book, he already told us this this
- 34:49truth that he's now starting to express here in Hebrews chapter
- 34:5310. But he also told us again in
- 34:56Hebrews 9 verse 9, which was a figure for the time then present
- 34:59in which we're both offered gifts and sacrifices could not
- 35:02make him perfect that did the service perfect as pertaining to
- 35:06the conscience. How much more so the blood of
- 35:08Christ purge your conscience from dead works to serve the
- 35:12living God. So I just love that he's said it
- 35:15over and over and over again, but we need to hear it
- 35:17constantly. And just to kind of reestablish
- 35:20some of those same points that the the whole Old Testament
- 35:24system was in a large scale allegory, a big, big object
- 35:29lesson. And the apostle here, the author
- 35:32is looking back at it and saying, isn't it obvious that
- 35:36the work was never done? Like look at it like Aaron
- 35:40already pointed out, they kept doing it.
- 35:42If they would have ever been actually purged, then the priest
- 35:46would have had a seat. There would have been a place
- 35:48for him to sit. There would have been no more
- 35:50blood spilled. But they knew it's got to be
- 35:53keep going, got to keep going because they were trying to keep
- 35:55up with their new record of sin. As Aaron already mentioned, so
- 35:59beautiful that he keeps pointing out.
- 36:00But the the implications of the of what Christ did and him
- 36:04sitting down are so huge, especially to the Jewish mind.
- 36:07Somebody mentioned early on today that we can understand
- 36:11some of these concepts just by reading about them.
- 36:13But to have lived that way, to have raised the lamb on your
- 36:16yard, to have bottle fed the thing perhaps and and brought it
- 36:20in next to your bed when you go to sleep at night.
- 36:22And then to lead that little lamb down to the Tabernacle and
- 36:26slit the throat, pour the blood, burn the body, all that stuff
- 36:29like it was, it was so in their bones that you have to make
- 36:33restitution. You have to keep doing this
- 36:35because we always keep sitting and sitting to, to see that that
- 36:39that clearly tells us that their conscience was not yet clean.
- 36:43They're the sins were not yet purged.
- 36:45The worshippers were not yet purged completely.
- 36:49That's good stuff, Velvet. Yeah, that.
- 36:52That's just so amazing. You know, so maybe we didn't
- 36:57experience having to, you know, raise a lamb and then then have
- 37:01it, you know, killed by the priests for our sins.
- 37:05But but what we were discussing earlier, it seems like when we
- 37:12don't grasp that the surety of Christ and you know he he says
- 37:19here again, he. Is the word the word?
- 37:22Once again, when we don't grasp this concept of Christ dying
- 37:27once for our sins and that we are heard from the conscience of
- 37:33our sins through Christ. When we don't believe that and
- 37:37we don't live in that, then we are kind of in the same way
- 37:43living under the law, right? And we're still wanting or maybe
- 37:47we're not actually physically raising a lamb and and taking it
- 37:50to the pre score sins. But we that's kind of what we're
- 37:53doing in a sense. And so I think that we were
- 37:59discussing this earlier about, you know, then people say, well,
- 38:04you can just, you know, do whatever you want and we can
- 38:06send and let you know. Paul says, no, we can't send
- 38:10that grace may abound. No, that's not that's not how it
- 38:13works. But but I think we just simply
- 38:17don't get the concept. And that's what he's trying to
- 38:21pound home here, right? And he's doing it in a very
- 38:25detailed manner. I was just thinking about as we
- 38:28read, as I read earlier today through what we're going to
- 38:31study tonight, I'm like, didn't we just like talk about this,
- 38:35right? And now he's going through it
- 38:37again. And I heard something earlier
- 38:42today where a man said that man needs to be told once about
- 38:48something and needs to be reminded many times.
- 38:52And so I think that's what he's doing here.
- 38:54He did tell us, but now he keeps reminding.
- 38:58Good point, Andrew. It's also prior.
- 39:01Part of the reason is, is that when you are still not spiritual
- 39:06minded, it's really hard to see things so you can read because I
- 39:14without reading Colossians 2 as an Amish guy, totally lost what
- 39:18the Bible was. Just so hard to figure out and
- 39:21just didn't make any sense. Looked like it's full of
- 39:24contradictions. And I would read the whole thing
- 39:30and it's talking about traditions of men and beguiling
- 39:33men beguiling us the whole way down.
- 39:37But by the time I saw it was where it said it show of wisdom
- 39:42with world worship and voluntary humility.
- 39:45And I saw that the second time I wrote it the first time I
- 39:48thought it was to confirm my belief.
- 39:51So I think that's probably one of the reasons why he has to
- 39:54repeat himself over and over and over and over because we can see
- 39:57it's right in front of us, but we don't get it like right over
- 40:01it. So here he's going to make them
- 40:04step over the finished work of Christ.
- 40:07I mean, it feels like. 150 times already just by the time we got,
- 40:13you have to step over it and eventually all of a sudden
- 40:16you're going to step on it and he's going to pop.
- 40:19But what I was thinking about is when I first heard the gospel
- 40:28that Jesus Christ took my sins away, I was like, that has to be
- 40:32really good news because I'm dealing with this all the time.
- 40:36I remember making confessions at church sexual immoral sense That
- 40:41is so embarrassing. You about pass out.
- 40:43I mean, it's horrible, but my conscience wouldn't let me go.
- 40:48My conscience. It would bother me so bad until
- 40:51I confess these gross sins in front of all the women and
- 40:55children, like the young people, single people, possibly girls
- 41:00that I would possibly want to date and they find that out
- 41:03there. But I don't do it.
- 41:05But I still did it because that bothered me so bad.
- 41:10And then to find out that my sins are covered, Jesus Christ
- 41:15took all of them away. It's such a relief to know that
- 41:20He took them away. And then I found that out and I
- 41:25was elated. But then I was told that my sins
- 41:30that I commit now aren't a problem now.
- 41:37Yeah. Now all of a sudden the sins are
- 41:40a problem again. I thought he took them away.
- 41:44Oh, yeah. But those were the ones you've
- 41:46already done. So now my sins are a problem
- 41:49again. Well, that's a real problem.
- 41:52So that's kind of what he's dealing with here.
- 41:56It doesn't show up again. He's never going to come back
- 42:00and say, I know you. We dealt with your.
- 42:05We dealt with your sins, but they show up again.
- 42:09You know, they don't show up next year.
- 42:11They don't show up in two years. They don't show up again.
- 42:15God's not going to come around to Andrew.
- 42:17Your list is long again. You know you.
- 42:21It's time to get clean again. It's time for communion.
- 42:24You better get cleaned up. He doesn't do that.
- 42:27He's saying this sacrifice in order for it to be better than
- 42:31the law, it your conscience. Not even.
- 42:35You're not even thinking anymore about atonement.
- 42:37Your conscious not thinking. Amen.
- 42:39Is sin right how can I get free again?
- 42:42How can I get clean again? What you think about now is when
- 42:47you sin is that we have an advocate with the Father that
- 42:50there's blood that speaks better things than that of Abel, that
- 42:53there was a great high priest that has perfected them forever
- 42:57that are sanctified. And that's what we have.
- 43:00That's that's the only hope that we have is what he has already
- 43:03done. And that's the kind of gospel
- 43:05that no flesh should glory. You.
- 43:09Can't be in glory, can't do it. But I also wanted to point out
- 43:14what I've been told also was that yes, the blood of Christ is
- 43:19flowing 24/7, forever. And every time you confess it,
- 43:24the blood washes it away. It's like a bloodstream that is
- 43:28a Creek or a river that's flowing.
- 43:31And every time you throw a sin in there, it washes it away.
- 43:35So that's dump your sins. It's this everlasting atonement.
- 43:40So you see how they're twisting in this and making sense of this
- 43:44everlasting atonement and forgiveness, but it's your
- 43:47responsibility to dump them in there.
- 43:49So you're, you're, that's how you get rid of them.
- 43:52This everlasting, flowing, the blood of Christ is eternal, it's
- 43:55forever. So that's how they would explain
- 43:57these verses. These next verses wouldn't go
- 44:01very well with that concept. Yeah, that's.
- 44:03Right. Yeah, I remember exactly when
- 44:06Moses showed me these because I was talking about, you know, I
- 44:09have to be sorry or repent or put them put.
- 44:12They talk about put your sins under the blood.
- 44:15And then he showed me this and I go, oh, but I also remember it
- 44:21setting me free, my conscience free.
- 44:26So the the concept here in in verse 2 and you, you hit on
- 44:31that, you know it, it's saying it's implying that a real a real
- 44:41peace would have no more conscience of sense.
- 44:43He's saying that was the problem with the old way is that it did
- 44:48not take care of this consciousness, this awareness.
- 44:51Of it didn't show up again, yeah.
- 44:53And so what's what I think is interesting is so he is implying
- 44:57that that through Christ there is no more like there, there
- 45:04should be no more awareness of that sin.
- 45:08You know. Boy.
- 45:11You know, I'm going to go out on a limb here.
- 45:15We've all been preaching this and talking about this for
- 45:18probably years, and we're doing this study.
- 45:20I don't think we get it yet. No, I I agree.
- 45:25I agree to no, I agree with you, I don't think.
- 45:27It's better than we think, yeah. It's way better yet we're doing
- 45:31a horrible job. I think God sitting up there
- 45:33going, man, they're hope for you.
- 45:34I think he is, yeah. No, that's it's it's good.
- 45:41Like if to to not have an awareness of sin is almost
- 45:46incomprehensible. It's, it's so we're so in it.
- 45:49Here it is. Most, most, most Christians are
- 45:53very, very sin conscious and we ought not to be fun.
- 45:58Yeah, I I think like Psalm 79. I just saw this Psalm 79 nine,
- 46:04the writer of the Psalm saying help us, O God of our salvation
- 46:08for the glory of thy name, and deliver us purge our way, our
- 46:12sins for thy name's sake. You know that that was the
- 46:15prayer of the Old Testament. We don't pray that for.
- 46:18It anymore. Yeah, exactly.
- 46:21I was reading Psalm 2 Psalms one O 3 as far as E is from the
- 46:24West, so far as we removed our transgressions from us, you
- 46:28know, or Isaiah 43 I even I am he that blotteth out thy
- 46:32transgressions for my own sake, and will not remember thy sense
- 46:37for his own sake. He said interesting 44 I have
- 46:39blotted out as a thick cloud that transgressions, you know,
- 46:43they're going man. And what would we bring him up
- 46:45for if he did? And how arrogant would it be for
- 46:48us to say some of them? Yeah.
- 46:51Yeah. Yeah, no, I this is good stuff.
- 46:54Amen. Yeah, Yeah, Cameron, everyone
- 46:58thinks it's me heading this up because I started and stop it,
- 47:00but it's Andrew, actually Andrew doing the pioneering there.
- 47:05Yeah. You see the comment there
- 47:08anyway. But I don't know what that
- 47:09means. You're bleeding it out.
- 47:13Verse 3. But in those sacrifices, there
- 47:16is a remembrance made again, made of sins every year.
- 47:20And then just I mean, it's I should have read this first
- 47:22before I said what I said. But like so.
- 47:25So he is suggesting that there would be such a possibility that
- 47:30there is no remembrance of sin again.
- 47:35Wait a minute. How's how's that even possible?
- 47:39I don't know. Washing of water by the word is
- 47:42what he says us to do to our wives.
- 47:43I don't know. Submerse ourselves.
- 47:45It is grace. Submerse ourselves.
- 47:47It is word. It is love.
- 47:48It is It is arms. It is truth.
- 47:50I don't know. Tell me.
- 47:52I mean, what do you think, Aaron?
- 47:53Go ahead. I.
- 47:56Well, I, I was going to, I was going to look at it as a
- 48:04actually something you said before that reminded me of verse
- 48:08three. You said something about God
- 48:12seeing it. And I think that that's what to
- 48:14me, that's what really opened it up for me, made me see it
- 48:20clearly. Is that's the key is, is God
- 48:25like he says that even in the Romans 6 and seven that we've
- 48:28talked about earlier that God is considering us dead.
- 48:35So it's not that's I think that's what confuses us.
- 48:40We're not seeing it from his perspective, but in God's
- 48:43perspective. He's not seeing just like the
- 48:46camera wrote there. You know, our life is hid with
- 48:49Christ and God. So that's what we miss.
- 48:52We're not. We're looking at it from that
- 48:56moment by moment. We mentioned earlier that
- 48:59day-to-day, we see it in real time.
- 49:02Whereas God in those verses that Leon read has just said, I have
- 49:08forgot who they were. They are a new person in Christ,
- 49:12right? They are a new creature now.
- 49:13They are a perfect sinless. They've got a new record.
- 49:17And and if you and if we. Would see that I think it would
- 49:20make more sense, right? I mean, we're looking at it from
- 49:23the perspective of reality that I do fall short.
- 49:27I don't always do what I should. I fail to do what I know I
- 49:30should do. We see that in reality and we
- 49:35fail to look to realize what God is reckoning.
- 49:38In that. And and I think that that's
- 49:41because, you know, I said that to say that verse 3 is saying,
- 49:45like I said earlier, they didn't have this concept.
- 49:48They knew we're going to do this this year and we're going to
- 49:52remember what great centers we are again next year at this
- 49:54time, right? Like they, they were they this
- 49:58was not a concept. The concept was you all are
- 50:01great centers. You got to pay a big price next
- 50:04year. You all are great centers.
- 50:05You've got to pay a big price next year, you know, like over
- 50:08and over again. And he's saying, listen, folks,
- 50:11there's been one sacrifice made. It is not happening again,
- 50:16right? It's, it's, I mean, that is the
- 50:18whole point of several of these verses.
- 50:19It's not going to happen again. And like I said, I think that
- 50:24that for me anyway, that's what opened my eyes was when I
- 50:28understood that it's God's perspective is I have forgotten
- 50:34it. You are a new creature in
- 50:36Christ. I I I'm not looking at it the
- 50:40way I did before, right? Yeah, wow.
- 50:43Perspective matters, doesn't it? Yeah, most people, even as
- 50:50Christians, see church and Christianity as a sin management
- 50:54system, a thing by which they purge their sins continually,
- 50:59like the Andrew said, you know, throwing each sin individually
- 51:02into the cleansing power of the blood and constantly trying to
- 51:06get rid of the sins. But that's exactly in contrast
- 51:10to what these verses are saying. And those sacrifices, the old
- 51:13ones, there was this constant remembrance.
- 51:16And I think what the issue is, I feel like what God is actually
- 51:19trying to do for us is that if you were genuinely conscious of
- 51:24all your sins, you would do nothing.
- 51:27All you could do was think about how bad you are.
- 51:31Every thought, every intention, every moment, every like you
- 51:35would be completely frozen in fear and or you would just be on
- 51:39this constant sin management conveyor belt of trying to get
- 51:44somewhere but never actually getting anywhere.
- 51:46The moment you walk out of the Tabernacle, you see some guy who
- 51:49isn't offering sacrifices and you think, well, I'm glad I'm
- 51:52better than that guy. Well, you may as well March
- 51:54right back into the Tabernacle and offer some more sacrifice.
- 51:58It's just never, you'll never, never get there.
- 52:00And So what God is trying to do with the New Testament in the
- 52:03law of the new Gospel is get off of that treadmill.
- 52:07And now you can serve people. Now you can walk in holiness and
- 52:11don't, you don't ever, ever, ever need to worry again whether
- 52:14or not your sins are managed or taken care of or cleansed.
- 52:18And it's too good to believe to believe like it's too good to be
- 52:21true. I recognize that because our
- 52:23conscience still smites us. We still feel bad when we fail.
- 52:26We should still feel guilty. But you won't feel guilty
- 52:29enough. You won't feel bad enough.
- 52:31Nothing is ever going to pay for it.
- 52:33So even when you sin, maybe especially when you sin, all the
- 52:38more reason to be grateful and thankful for what he's done
- 52:41because you can still go out and tell people the goodness of God
- 52:44because all the glory goes to him.
- 52:46All the the purging was on his behalf or like he did it.
- 52:49For us, rather. And there's no more sin
- 52:52management left in Christianity, not under this New Testament
- 52:56gospel that we have. Amen.
- 53:00That's right, I I think that that as one of the devil's tools
- 53:03actually is to do exactly what you said, Dan, is that he wants
- 53:08us to be so concerned about our sin all the time that it it like
- 53:15causes us to be stagnant. It just causes us to not be
- 53:20fruitful for the Kingdom of God, right.
- 53:23And when in all reality, like for me, just going through like
- 53:29this Hebrews, like we have been here on this study, just going
- 53:35through this verse by verse is just, it's mind blowing.
- 53:39Like I've read Hebrews many times, but I've never really
- 53:41went through a verse by verse like we have been.
- 53:44And so I think when you actually, I think most people
- 53:48just don't like they pick and choose.
- 53:51Maybe like I do that myself sometimes I pick and choose
- 53:55portions of the Scripture and and I don't actually sit down
- 54:00and go through a book like Hebrews to actually see what God
- 54:06has done and what Christ has done for me that I can just
- 54:11rejoice in that and rest in that right is what he has been
- 54:14showing us through this whole Hebrews so far.
- 54:18And so I think sometimes we just, we're too conscious about
- 54:23our sin, right? And we're looking at other
- 54:26things instead of looking at Christ and, and we should be
- 54:29looking at Christ and rejoicing and thanking him when we do sin.
- 54:34Like you said, Dan, that's so beautiful.
- 54:38Amen. I'll just say this, I think it's
- 54:44fair to say that I think I don't think it's wrong that I am this
- 54:50way. You can correct me if I am.
- 54:52But I feel like it frustrates me and disappoints me more when I
- 55:01fail with the understanding that I have than it did back when I
- 55:05thought I could confess them. Because the argument that you
- 55:09can just send because they're under the blood is no different
- 55:12than the one that where I can just send and confess with what
- 55:16the difference. So when you know that God has
- 55:22promised me that I'm free from sin through by faith in
- 55:27believing that I'm crucified, the world is crucified to mean
- 55:30the body of sin. The flesh is destroyed by the
- 55:33body, by the dead dying of the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 55:36So much so that he asked the question in Colossians, if you
- 55:40died with Christ, why are you subject to ordinances?
- 55:43Because you should be way above that where you don't need laws
- 55:47or ordinances to cause you to do the right thing.
- 55:50So in light of that, it really frustrates me when I fall short
- 55:54because then I'm not I'm not. Then my response is not God.
- 55:58Please forgive my sins. My response is God.
- 56:01Please strengthen my faith, strengthen my my understanding.
- 56:07Give me spiritual wisdom so that I'm aware and don't fall into
- 56:10this trap. Because God forbid that I should
- 56:14misrepresent the one that gave me victory when he died rose
- 56:18again. So in like in that context, yes
- 56:21it I am very upset when I fail. But if I thought that I had to
- 56:31then now somehow make that scene right, Like you guys said, I
- 56:36would not get any work done because I would be constantly
- 56:40remembering and trying to remember and to try to read my
- 56:43intent, my thoughts and try to confess everything.
- 56:47If that was it, I wouldn't have a life.
- 56:49Which is why in the beginning I was trying to say if you
- 56:52actually believe in confession, then you wouldn't believe the
- 56:56gospel. Number one.
- 56:58You know, you can't believe both.
- 57:00And if you actually believe confession, which you really
- 57:04don't because if you did, I would see you on your knees all
- 57:07the time. But that's how I would see if
- 57:11you actually believe and follow through with what you said.
- 57:13I would see you dropping on your knees while we're working.
- 57:16I would see you dropping on your knees when a car drives by and
- 57:21the chick was in there with a short, low cut shirt.
- 57:23I would see you dropping on your knees right after that.
- 57:26You know, I never see people like that dropping on your knees
- 57:30just out of the blue. So they don't believe it
- 57:33technically. I don't know.
- 57:34It's just a budget confusion. It's kind of like where God says
- 57:40he kind of makes that clear in Paul's epistles that you can't
- 57:45serve 2, either are loyal to the one or and honor the one or
- 57:50dishonor the other. Like you can't serve God and
- 57:53man. Yeah, and yeah, Cameron said.
- 57:58The reason that it hurts so bad is because we notice our sin.
- 58:03You have a heightened awareness of sin.
- 58:04The other thing too is like what causes me not to want to even go
- 58:10there for myself is that this God that extended such gracious
- 58:16of your mercy, You know, it's I, I, I can't do that to him.
- 58:22Kind of, you know, it's, it's a love based, whatever.
- 58:28I don't know, love based rather than law based.
- 58:32It's more personal. It it feels worse.
- 58:35It's like totally misrepresenting your good dad.
- 58:38Let's say you have this perfect dad, and then you're just out
- 58:41there just messing up his name. In closing, I want to read this
- 58:47is probably one of my favorite. This is very much part of my
- 58:50testimony. I feel and probably everybody
- 58:53that's ever been converted. I like it.
- 58:55Psalms 40 verse two, he says he brought me up out of an horrible
- 58:59pit, and it was horrible out of the miry clay.
- 59:03It was miry couldn't get out. And he set my feet upon a rock
- 59:06and established my goings, and he has put a new song in my
- 59:09mouth. Even praise unto our God.
- 59:12Many shall see it, and fear and shall trust the Lord.
- 59:15Blessed is the man that maketh the Lord his trust and respect
- 59:19us, not the proud nor such as turn aside to lies, you know,
- 59:25let's not turn aside to lies. You know that thing about, you
- 59:28know, getting your sins under the blood and all that?
- 59:31That's lies, actually. It.
- 59:32Is and let's don't turn aside to those.
- 59:34Let's let's rest in this sufficient grace that has been
- 59:42given us. Can I share one verse that I
- 59:44forgot that I was going to share in regard to this verse that's.
- 59:48Very quickly. There's many, quite a few times,
- 59:52just the time will come where I'm going to set up a system
- 59:54where I will remember their sins.
- 59:56No more word remember. So that's God's idea.
- 1:00:02Amen. Amen.
- 1:00:04All righty, as we conclude today's study, and it was a good
- 1:00:08one, remember Hebrews 11. What faith is the substance of
- 1:00:11things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.
- 1:00:13And I hope that by going through this clear, slowly and
- 1:00:17methodically, that we could open our spiritual eyes to see truths
- 1:00:21that we did not see before to the point where they are as real
- 1:00:25as the things that you see around you.
- 1:00:27I really do. I really hope that that's what
- 1:00:29would happen. That, and it is for me.
- 1:00:30It's open your eyes to do things.
- 1:00:32I love it. I love it.
- 1:00:35So anyway, God bless you guys. Thank you very much.
- 1:00:39Join us again next Monday night, same time, same place as we
- 1:00:43continue this study. Have a good week and God bless.
